- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's Mark Simone here. Welcome to the bonus segment
- 0:03Speaker 1: for all of you podcast listeners out there. So the
- 0:07Speaker 1: shutdown is over. It was the longest one in history.
- 0:10Speaker 1: What was accomplished by all of this, I don't know.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I have no idea. Nobody does. Now. A lot of
- 0:19Speaker 1: people think it was the Democrats just trying to sabotage
- 0:22Speaker 1: the Trump economy, but it caused you know, we're supposed
- 0:26Speaker 1: to screw up the Republicans, it actually screwed up the Democrats.
- 0:28Speaker 1: They did themselves more damage because they end this shutdown
- 0:33Speaker 1: with just total division and civil war going on within
- 0:37Speaker 1: the party. They've actually ended up. The shutdown is over,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and now they got like a circular firing squad going
- 0:43Speaker 1: on in the Democratic Party there and Schumer and the
- 0:47Speaker 1: old guard getting attacked by the new crazy woke left
- 0:51Speaker 1: and everywhere. Schumer and all these people are getting attacked
- 0:56Speaker 1: like crazy by you know, the high IQ shows, the
- 1:00Speaker 1: PBS News, the MSNBC crowd, but even the low IQ shows,
- 1:05Speaker 1: like The View going after them like crazy. And sometimes
- 1:09Speaker 1: it's those low IQ shows that are the better barometer,
- 1:12Speaker 1: because if even they figured it out, means it's pretty bad.
- 1:17Speaker 1: But Democrats. You know, the party's just been just slipping
- 1:23Speaker 1: over the last twenty thirty years. Remember they were liberals
- 1:26Speaker 1: and then after a few defeats, they became progressives. They're
- 1:30Speaker 1: not liberals anymore. They were now progressives. Like that's better.
- 1:34Speaker 1: But there were progressives for many years. Then all of
- 1:36Speaker 1: a sudden, they weren't progressive, but they were woke, which
- 1:38Speaker 1: was even worse. They went. Now they've gone from woke
- 1:41Speaker 1: to socialist. And who knows what's next with these Democrats
- 1:45Speaker 1: that just keeps sinking lower and lower and lower. Real
- 1:48Speaker 1: purpose of the shutdown most likely was to sabotage Trump's economy,
- 1:53Speaker 1: just to screw it up, put a big speed bump
- 1:55Speaker 1: on the economy as things were getting better, inflation dropping,
- 2:00Speaker 1: economy picking up. Just look at the stock market setting
- 2:03Speaker 1: all time records just in the past week. But just
- 2:06Speaker 1: trying to make people feel pain. That's what the Democrats
- 2:09Speaker 1: are big and doing in a shutdown, making you feel
- 2:12Speaker 1: the pain. Republicans, when they do shutdowns and they've done them,
- 2:16Speaker 1: just do them. They make it as painless as possible.
- 2:19Speaker 1: But Democrats like to make it painful. Bill Bill Clinton
- 2:21Speaker 1: did it. Obama was the king of making it painful. Remember,
- 2:25Speaker 1: in the Obama shutdown, he closed everything. He closed things
- 2:28Speaker 1: that there were no reason, no reason to close them.
- 2:30Speaker 1: There were World War Two monuments that don't have any
- 2:33Speaker 1: staff of any kind. They're just monuments. He had them
- 2:35Speaker 1: taped up and boarded up so nobody could see them. Hey,
- 2:39Speaker 1: good for Chris Matthews. He's got a new book out
- 2:43Speaker 1: and because of that, Chris Matthews doing a lot of
- 2:45Speaker 1: shows on MSNBC. But there's that awful Katie Tour, that
- 2:50Speaker 1: left wing coop. Oops. Wait a minute, Wait a minute,
- 2:52Speaker 1: Wait a minute, we're getting a call right in the
- 2:55Speaker 1: middle of this. But the left wing Katie Tour who
- 2:59Speaker 1: wants lived with Keith Oberman? Do I need to say more?
- 3:03Speaker 1: Given Chris Matthews a hard time because he's trying to
- 3:06Speaker 1: tell her. Chris Matthews like another Bill Maher. He's a
- 3:10Speaker 1: Democrat who will be painfully honest with them at times.
- 3:13Speaker 1: And he's telling these Democrats, you're losing people because you're
- 3:19Speaker 1: a bunch of smug elitists. You lost your appeal to
- 3:22Speaker 1: working class Americans, and you really are just the terrible
- 3:26Speaker 1: elitist when it comes to non college educated young voters
- 3:30Speaker 1: and there's lots of them. They didn't go to college.
- 3:33Speaker 1: That's okay, that's fine. Plenty of very successful people didn't
- 3:36Speaker 1: go to college. Plus some of our greatest billionaire tech
- 3:40Speaker 1: guys college dropouts. But Matthew's telling her right to her face.
- 3:45Speaker 1: You know, the snobbery and the attitude of Democratic politicians.
- 3:49Speaker 1: It's hurting the party. So now you know there's something
- 3:53Speaker 1: else coming, and this is going to be a big thing.
- 3:56Speaker 1: It's not getting the attention it deserves. Every keeps talking
- 3:58Speaker 1: about AI the revolution, even President Trump trying to get
- 4:03Speaker 1: more AI facilities here and all of that. It's going
- 4:06Speaker 1: to wipe out jobs obviously. You know AI replaces a
- 4:10Speaker 1: human worker, and it's been doing it for all kinds
- 4:13Speaker 1: of things. But people have not really taken a look
- 4:16Speaker 1: at how big this wipeout of jobs is going to be.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Some estimate it'll be one hundred million jobs. One hundred
- 4:24Speaker 1: million jobs, that's like half the workforce are going to
- 4:28Speaker 1: be gone over the next decade. Things you don't even
- 4:31Speaker 1: think about. Nurses can be replaced by AI. Truck drivers
- 4:35Speaker 1: can be replaced by AI. Of course, those truck drivers
- 4:38Speaker 1: can terrorize you on the highway, and we don't know
- 4:41Speaker 1: if the AI will be programmed to do that, Automation
- 4:44Speaker 1: and robotics could hit forty percent of registered nurses, forty
- 4:49Speaker 1: seven percent of truck drivers, sixty four percent of accountants,
- 4:54Speaker 1: sixty five percent of teaching assistance, eighty nine percent, almost
- 4:58Speaker 1: ninety percent of fast food workers. A lot of people
- 5:01Speaker 1: are going to lose their jobs to AI. Now, this
- 5:04Speaker 1: happens anytime you have a revolution, industrial revolution, half of
- 5:07Speaker 1: America lost their job the Internet revolution half of America.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But it takes a few years. But they eventually find
- 5:15Speaker 1: other careers. But it can take a few years for
- 5:17Speaker 1: the transition. Amazon and Walmart, two of our biggest companies,
- 5:22Speaker 1: already slash tens of thousands of jobs. Bernie Sanders argue
- 5:27Speaker 1: that AI is simply being used as a tool. Well,
- 5:31Speaker 1: this could be the next Democratic fight, Bernie Sanders saying
- 5:34Speaker 1: it's a tool to further concentrate wealth, nodding the CEOs
- 5:38Speaker 1: who invested billions into automation while announcing mass layoffs. So
- 5:42Speaker 1: the Democrats will launch a huge campaign against AI. Hey
- 5:47Speaker 1: this week, the final penny was manufactured. It's gonna be
- 5:51Speaker 1: no more pennies. A copper penny, you know, it costs
- 5:54Speaker 1: like three cents to make a penny. They lose money
- 5:57Speaker 1: every time they make a penny. So President Trump I
- 6:01Speaker 1: decided that's the end. No more pennies. They will stop
- 6:03Speaker 1: making them. Effect as we speak, they haven't been made
- 6:07Speaker 1: in the last two days. There are no more pennies
- 6:09Speaker 1: being made. Now there's still three billion in circulation. They'll
- 6:12Speaker 1: be out there for a while, but I don't know.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Most people don't pay cash anymore. Remember years ago that
- 6:19Speaker 1: you'd be in a supermarket and there was that old
- 6:21Speaker 1: lady trying to pay by check and it hold up
- 6:24Speaker 1: the whole line and it looks so silly paying by
- 6:26Speaker 1: check in a supermarket. Well now it's the same thing.
- 6:28Speaker 1: If you pay cash, you're that old lady paying cash.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Everybody just swiping using their phone, even credit cards. It's
- 6:35Speaker 1: a little outdated, but there'll be no more pennies, and
- 6:38Speaker 1: it'll become a point where there's just no more change.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And then they'll become a point where there's no more dollars.
- 6:43Speaker 1: You may still need a few, because how do you
- 6:46Speaker 1: tip people without the actual cash, How do you slip
- 6:49Speaker 1: money into the matre D's hand without actual bills? You're
- 6:54Speaker 1: gonna need those twenties and hundreds and all of that. Now,
- 6:58Speaker 1: some health tips. We always like to get the best
- 7:00Speaker 1: health tips. Is there something a seasoning that you can
- 7:03Speaker 1: use that will boost memory, fight anxiety, even help prevent dementia. Well, actually,
- 7:10Speaker 1: ancient healers knew about this, but there's some university students
- 7:14Speaker 1: that have done some testing and apparently there is one
- 7:17Speaker 1: rosemary that evergreen shrub herb rosemary. One of the most
- 7:24Speaker 1: promising frontiers in rosemary research is the brain. University students
- 7:28Speaker 1: found that well, actually it's not just seasoning with it.
- 7:30Speaker 1: You got to take five hundred milligrams of it twice
- 7:33Speaker 1: daily for a month. They tested that and it showed
- 7:37Speaker 1: better memory, showed less anxiety depression, plus better sleep. So
- 7:42Speaker 1: rosemary does more than just sharpen your mind. Very good
- 7:45Speaker 1: for you. Well, start sprinkling on your food and then
- 7:47Speaker 1: if you like that, take a look at some rosemary
- 7:50Speaker 1: capsules at some point. Now, is everybody going to leave
- 7:53Speaker 1: New York? I don't know. I don't know, Mom, Donnie.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It doesn't sound good, but we went through this with
- 7:58Speaker 1: the Blasio. Not everybody. However, here's a restaurant tour Stratus
- 8:04Speaker 1: morphing Gen got a lot of big restaurants. He told
- 8:08Speaker 1: news reporters that three new establishments that he was going
- 8:12Speaker 1: to open, including one in Midtown West, won't open. I
- 8:15Speaker 1: was waiting for the election before signing the lease, and
- 8:18Speaker 1: now I'm not signing. Here's another restaurant tour nightlife guru
- 8:22Speaker 1: Richie Romero was about to open a new club in
- 8:26Speaker 1: the East Village. It will not open. Instead of betting
- 8:30Speaker 1: on New York, He's got twelve to fifteen new restaurants coming.
- 8:33Speaker 1: He'll open them in other markets, Atlanta, Dallas, West, Palm Beach.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But but yeah, these are restaurant guys. What do they know.
- 8:41Speaker 1: But you talk about the top smartest real estate guys,
- 8:44Speaker 1: the big, big, big real estate super stars. They're still
- 8:48Speaker 1: building all over New York. You know over there Park
- 8:51Speaker 1: Avenue and fifty second Street, there's one hundred story skyscraper
- 8:56Speaker 1: going up over there. Not yet there's two buildings, normal
- 8:58Speaker 1: buildings there. Now they're coming down. And there's a hundred
- 9:02Speaker 1: story building going up. Fifty ninth in Madison. You know
- 9:07Speaker 1: where there was a Dwayne Read there in a few things.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Fifty ninth in Madison, picture of that corner. It's a
- 9:12Speaker 1: big hole. Now the whole block has been torn down
- 9:16Speaker 1: because there's a like a ninety story skyscraper going up there.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I could point all over New York where these things
- 9:21Speaker 1: are happening. Now, these guys wouldn't be investing all that
- 9:24Speaker 1: money if if they didn't think New York was going
- 9:28Speaker 1: to be okay. So it'll be tough for a while. Again,
- 9:31Speaker 1: it's a lot of the Deblasio people coming back in
- 9:34Speaker 1: this administration. But we got through Deblasio. Well we'll get
- 9:39Speaker 1: through this. Hey. Which landmark is expected to welcome record
- 9:43Speaker 1: crowds this year worldwide. Notre Dame Notre Dame Cathedral, Notre Dame,
- 9:51Speaker 1: the cathedral in Paris. You remember they had a terrible fire,
- 9:53Speaker 1: it burned down and then it spent a year rebuilding it.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It cost a fortune. But it's going to be the
- 10:00Speaker 1: most visited tourist place in the coming year. There's talking
- 10:04Speaker 1: about over twelve million visitors. In fact, they think it'll
- 10:07Speaker 1: go as high as fifteen million. Fifteen million visitors coming
- 10:14Speaker 1: this year to see it. You'll be seeing it, of course,
- 10:16Speaker 1: all over Instagram and everywhere, see every watch that is it.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Stephanie Rule, Yes, Stephanie Rule on MSNBC. It's one of
- 10:24Speaker 1: those MSNBC hosts. So she's doing a show and she
- 10:27Speaker 1: has you know, they all have a panel. It's always
- 10:29Speaker 1: the host of three people on a panel, and to
- 10:31Speaker 1: balance the panel, they have a liberal, a very liberal,
- 10:34Speaker 1: and an ultraliberal. And anyway, she's talking to remember, my
- 10:38Speaker 1: phone went off a few seconds ago and I shut
- 10:41Speaker 1: it off. So it happened to her. She's on the air,
- 10:44Speaker 1: the panel's talking, the phone goes off. Nobody could believe it.
- 10:47Speaker 1: She answered the phone on the air, but if people
- 10:51Speaker 1: could hear her, they couldn't believe. She took up answered
- 10:53Speaker 1: the phone and she said, oh my goodness. She said, son,
- 10:57Speaker 1: I'm in the middle of a television show. You're the
- 10:58Speaker 1: only person I would ever end to the phone for.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'm going to have you to call you back. And
- 11:03Speaker 1: nobody could believe that. Well, it's her son, it could
- 11:05Speaker 1: be Well, if it's a it's a kid. I assume
- 11:08Speaker 1: he knows how to text. He could have texted her.
- 11:10Speaker 1: She could have read it. But on the other hand,
- 11:14Speaker 1: it seems strange. But it's MSNBC. Nobody's watching. It's not
- 11:19Speaker 1: like she's on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson with
- 11:21Speaker 1: twenty three million viewers. She's on MSNBC with a couple
- 11:25Speaker 1: hundred thousand. I guess that's okay. You can you can
- 11:27Speaker 1: answer your phone there. Who's going to notice? Now? If
- 11:34Speaker 1: if you've ever gotten a speeding ticket, you know you
- 11:36Speaker 1: try not to speed after that, but you start to slip,
- 11:39Speaker 1: but you're careful for a while, then you slip back.
- 11:42Speaker 1: But if you're one of those people that gets a
- 11:43Speaker 1: million speeding tickets and you've been in court a million times, well,
- 11:47Speaker 1: there's a new device called a speed limiter that could
- 11:51Speaker 1: be installed in your car. They're trying it out now.
- 11:53Speaker 1: They're thinking for a chronic speeder, reckless driver who's been
- 11:57Speaker 1: in all kinds of trouble with the law, they will
- 11:59Speaker 1: force you to install one of these things in your car,
- 12:02Speaker 1: the speed limitter. If you go over the speed limit
- 12:04Speaker 1: will stop your car. It'll just slow it down and
- 12:07Speaker 1: then turn off the ignition. I guess it'll put a
- 12:10Speaker 1: limit on how fast your car could go. They're talking
- 12:13Speaker 1: about putting it on three thousand bad drivers. It costs
- 12:16Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a pop, so they'll have to pay
- 12:19Speaker 1: the thousand dollars. They've been testing it out. You know,
- 12:22Speaker 1: you got to make sure the way it stops your
- 12:23Speaker 1: car is going to cause an accident in the middle
- 12:25Speaker 1: of a of a highway. But you know the other
- 12:29Speaker 1: problem if you everybody speeds. Let's be honest, everybody speeds.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I know it says fifty five, you're going sixty four,
- 12:36Speaker 1: sixty five, seventy. You know, sometimes if you go the
- 12:38Speaker 1: speed limit fifty five on the highway you can get
- 12:41Speaker 1: run over. But you know, nowadays the cars are all
- 12:46Speaker 1: digital electronic. You know that key thing you have, it's
- 12:49Speaker 1: not a key, whatever that thing is that opens the
- 12:50Speaker 1: car door, that's got a hard drive in there. It
- 12:53Speaker 1: keeps track of everything you've done in your car, every turn,
- 12:56Speaker 1: every speed. In fact, if cops get a warrant that
- 13:00Speaker 1: they can take that thing, it'll show every way you
- 13:02Speaker 1: were driving, speed, direction, everything. So at some point this
- 13:07Speaker 1: is what you gotta worry about. If the government starts
- 13:10Speaker 1: getting the car companies to cooperate on this, they could
- 13:11Speaker 1: put in like a little USB portal on that so
- 13:16Speaker 1: when a cop pulls you over, he can plug right
- 13:18Speaker 1: into it and see what speeds you were going. I
- 13:22Speaker 1: hope this doesn't happen, and then nobody will be able
- 13:24Speaker 1: to speed nobody will get anywhere. Then hey, we're out
- 13:27Speaker 1: of time, but thanks for listening. I'm here live ten
- 13:30Speaker 1: to noon every weekday. I hope you can listen then
- 13:33Speaker 1: or get the podcast and I'll be back Monday ten
- 13:36Speaker 1: to noon. I hope you can listen, then talk to you,
- 13:38Speaker 1: then have a great weekend. Mark Simone here on our
