- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Tape where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Tape
- 0:17presented by Chinook Cedry this episode 536, I'll be your host,
- 0:20Kyle Korne. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:22Reyes. Nate.
- 0:29How are we, Sir? Sitting here watching the Sox
- 0:33Tigers game and it got me thinking if you had, we'll call
- 0:40it 100 ABS, 100 a hundred ABS off of Terek Scubal, I would ask
- 0:52how many hits you think you could get off him, but I feel
- 0:55like that would be doing him a disservice.
- 0:57So maybe let's just go with like, how many?
- 1:03Balls in play. How contact?
- 1:08I mean, we're talking foul balls.
- 1:12How many, how many of those ABS are are inducing contact?
- 1:16We'll call it. So I get did I get prep time?
- 1:19I get time to like. Yeah, a couple warm up swings,
- 1:23He's on the mound. He's ready to go.
- 1:25The the weeks prior. You know what I mean?
- 1:26Like I need a couple weeks. To sure if you think that'll
- 1:30help. Get the eyes going.
- 1:32Yeah, I mean, if you think that'll.
- 1:33Help if we're counting foul tips?
- 1:40Well, OK, OK, sorry. I mean, let's walk it back just
- 1:44for clarity. Do you think you're getting?
- 1:46I didn't mean to like jump ahead.
- 1:48Do you think you're you're you're getting on base off of
- 1:52Tarek Scuba in 100 and. 80 as far as in like on base goes.
- 1:59Maybe a hit, maybe one or two knocks, Maybe.
- 2:03Maybe little bleeders. Bleeders over the first baseman,
- 2:06Yeah. I was going to say, I was going
- 2:10to say one or one or two knocks, balls in play.
- 2:13I was going to say maybe 7:00 or 8:00.
- 2:19If you give me foul tips, I'll bump it up to 11:50.
- 2:30This dude is just, he's disgusting.
- 2:33He really is. He really is.
- 2:34It's a sight to behold. It's different.
- 2:37Like I, I always love those videos where there's like an
- 2:42overlap where it shows like two different or multiple pitches
- 2:47and then it's like the arm release looks the exact same.
- 2:50The ball looks the exact same for the 1st 30 feet and then it
- 2:57breaks and you're just like I don't know how anybody.
- 3:00Hits this Are you seeing this right now?
- 3:05I. Got big inning on.
- 3:06I'm not watching your game. What happened?
- 3:09Will your Rayu just scaled the wall?
- 3:13Well, I mean he he went up for the ball, robbed the home run
- 3:16ball comes tips the ball to Sidon Rafael who's right next to
- 3:21him. He catches it like this and make
- 3:24the out. Really.
- 3:26What a play. Maybe beginning worthy.
- 3:30Hopefully it's it switches over. What a play.
- 3:34Let's let's talk about the big story here, Nate.
- 3:38There's been been some news that has shaken the baseball world to
- 3:44its core and has really, let's just let's call a spade a spade,
- 3:51has evoked some strong feelings. My court has shaken.
- 3:57Across the baseball landscape, Major League Baseball announced
- 4:03Tuesday. Tuesday.
- 4:06Tuesday, you need that. The ban that was keeping Pete
- 4:13Rose shoeless, Joe Jackson and a long list of other players out
- 4:20of the game. That ban has been lifted.
- 4:28Ergo, those players are not eligible for the Hall of Fame.
- 4:35And I got to say this. I I don't know if you or
- 4:40anything, this kind of took me by surprise.
- 4:41Had no idea this news was coming.
- 4:43Just fell from the clouds, as it sure did.
- 4:45I was thinking, you know, maybe there was, you know, they had to
- 4:53they had to wait a certain amount of time to do this.
- 4:54I don't know if that was the case or if if Manfred was just
- 4:57like, yeah, I think it's been long enough since since Pete
- 4:59Rose has been gone. Maybe we make the call now,
- 5:04Maybe we go ahead and make this announcement.
- 5:09Long story short, Manfred comes out, is quoted as saying this.
- 5:20Well, first of all, he will be the following.
- 5:22These be the following, ergo the latter.
- 5:27No, he ruled that the punishment of these banded individuals
- 5:31ended upon their deaths. Quoted as saying, obviously a
- 5:34person no longer with us can represent a threat to the
- 5:37integrity of the game. Moreover, it is hard to conceive
- 5:42of a penalty that has more deterrent effect than one that
- 5:46lasts a lifetime with no reprieve.
- 5:48Therefore, I have concluded that permanent ineligibility ends
- 5:51upon the passing of disciplined individual and Mr. Rose will be
- 5:55removed from the permanently ineligible list.
- 5:59So if I'm, if I'm interpreting that right, the second Pete, and
- 6:04not to like make light of somebody's passing, but like
- 6:08based on that definition, based on that announcement for Brian
- 6:11Manfred that this was the case the second he was gone.
- 6:15Am I, am I correct in thinking that or, or interpreting it that
- 6:19way? Is that what it sounds like to
- 6:20you? Sounds like it.
- 6:25So with that said, I don't know if I if I fully understand the
- 6:30timing of all of this, but the the big take away here is, and
- 6:37I, I mean, you know, Shoeless Joe Jackson, you can throw him
- 6:39into the mix here. But obviously Pete Rose is the
- 6:41headliner now, as I mentioned, now eligible for the Hall of
- 6:45Fame. So it begs the question, Nate,
- 6:47does Pete Rose get into the Hall of Fame?
- 6:56And I'm going to need you. I see.
- 6:57Yeah, I'm going to need you. I'm going to need you to walk me
- 7:00through this because I, I've thought more and more about it
- 7:02today. And I had a little, I had AI had
- 7:05a moment today on my commute home.
- 7:08And I'm, and I'm thinking about this more knowing that we're
- 7:10going to talk about it tonight. And I'm going.
- 7:14For many, many years, I myself was campaigning for Pete Rose to
- 7:20be in the Hall of Fame. OK.
- 7:23I have been vocal about my feelings about names related to
- 7:29the steroid era that I don't believe should be in the Hall of
- 7:33Fame. OK.
- 7:35Namely, Barry Bonds. Heard of him?
- 7:38Given, and I'll say it again in case you are unfamiliar with my
- 7:42stance on him, the reason I feel strongest when it comes to Barry
- 7:47Bonds is because he holds the record of all records.
- 7:53Yeah, it's crazy. He's against Carrie Carpenter.
- 7:58Come on, man. Couldn't it be against someone
- 8:00else? I continue the.
- 8:03That was cool. Barry Bonds holds the.
- 8:11I know the record. Barry Bonds holds the record of
- 8:14all records and for him to, I won't say go around flaunting
- 8:20it, but for his his supporters rather to go around flaunting it
- 8:23with the people in the in the baseball world as if he would
- 8:28have achieved that without PEDs. It's just crazy to me.
- 8:35And it's call, call it unfair to Barry Bonds for for there being
- 8:39somewhat of a double standard, but that's what you like.
- 8:41I in my opinion, that's what you get when you hold the record of
- 8:44all records that we're not talking about some guy that
- 8:47just, you know, added 75 more home runs to his career total
- 8:52and, and finished with, you know, 212.
- 8:55We're talking about the guy who holds the record of all records
- 8:57again, Pete Rose. I'm driving down the road and
- 9:01I'm going kind of the same situation here.
- 9:04Obviously not steroids, but kind of the same situation here where
- 9:08you're talking about the record of all records when it comes to
- 9:10hit totals. Sure.
- 9:12And I'm thinking to myself self, how can I feel differently about
- 9:22Pete Rose? Like the more I think about
- 9:24this, I have to step back from my, as I mentioned, my
- 9:27aforementioned campaigning for Pete Rose to get in.
- 9:29And I had to, I had to sort of re evaluate now that this news
- 9:32has come out because I, I think in my head when I was pushing
- 9:36for Pete to get in the hall when I was like, yeah, he, he needs
- 9:39to be in, no doubt. I think that it was never going
- 9:44to get in. But now that this news has
- 9:46broken, and now that it's a very realistic possibility.
- 9:50You're hopping camps. I'm not hopping camps.
- 9:54Call it on the fence. You're taking a look in the
- 9:57mirror. Taking a look in the mirror, I'm
- 9:59evaluating my thoughts. You're evaluating how you
- 10:04evaluate. That's correct.
- 10:10Thank you. So I mean, how do I tell me how
- 10:14to think about this? I don't know how to think about
- 10:16it. That's the problem, because I
- 10:19was kind of along the same lines where like I, I've always kind
- 10:25of been on the fence about it. I get the arguments.
- 10:31I've always gotten the arguments where it was like, hey, it
- 10:36didn't involve the games he played in and.
- 10:43It was, it was on his team to win.
- 10:45Yeah, like, I don't know. I don't know either, man.
- 10:49I don't know either. It's an especially you've
- 10:52brought this point up a multitude of times how prevalent
- 10:56betting is in sports now and and how it how promoted it is by
- 11:02these leagues. And so I think it is a little,
- 11:11it's a little hypocritical for MLB to be pushing betting the
- 11:16way they push it where your hit king is, is, you know, excluded
- 11:23from it's it's just it's hard, man.
- 11:29Like I, I don't really know how I feel about it.
- 11:31Do do you think I do? I think he gets in.
- 11:36Yeah, I I think he gets in. Do I understand this rule?
- 11:41No. Do I think it's almost more
- 11:44cruel to wait till he dies? I know that that was like a
- 11:50weird topic and a weird question that has been tossed out for a
- 11:54while now like that. This isn't the first time that
- 11:57this has been broached. I didn't expect a full laundry
- 12:00list of names to be. I thought it was just kind of a
- 12:03case by case situation. I didn't expect for just say,
- 12:07hey, anybody that has a lifetime ban that gets lifted the second
- 12:11they die, it's one could argue it's more cruel.
- 12:14It it's it's odd like I don't know, I don't know.
- 12:22And. It was cold.
- 12:23I mean, you heard what you heard what Manford said.
- 12:26The I mean it. Say what you will about Pete
- 12:29Rose and say what you will about Manfred, but the way I mean, the
- 12:32way that came across to me was rather cold where he said it is
- 12:39hard to conceive of a penalty that has more deterrent effect
- 12:42than one that lasts a lifetime with no reprieve.
- 12:45It's like, dude, we know like you don't have, you don't have
- 12:49to. And I know it's been what, a
- 12:51handful of months now, half a year since since Pete's been
- 12:55gone. And again, say what you will
- 12:57about the guy, I know there's people that were like
- 12:58celebrating his death. They're like, oh, this, this
- 13:00creep is gone now. It's like what?
- 13:03I'm not looking at it through that lens.
- 13:05And I know that maybe some people think that I should, but
- 13:07you know, we're we're talking baseball here.
- 13:09So I'm, I'm doing what I can to look at it through a baseball
- 13:11lens. I'm simply saying that the
- 13:14commissioner of the sport couldn't have found a more
- 13:19tactful way to address the matter instead of just being
- 13:24like, yeah, I can't think of a better way to ward guys away
- 13:28from doing things like this then by penalizing them until
- 13:32they're, you know, until they're dead.
- 13:34It's like, what A and sure, it was a little more buttoned up
- 13:37than that, but I'm like, what a weird thing to say again, man,
- 13:39People are like, oh, what a win from Manfred.
- 13:41It's like, yeah, but I guess if that if you're, you know, Pro
- 13:45Pete getting in, but the way he went about it was just, it was
- 13:49very bizarre. But that's, that's like the
- 13:51ultimate, but the, the ultimate sad part to it is that like, if
- 13:56the if he does get in, if there is some kind of speech, if
- 13:59someone gives it for him, it's going to be completely
- 14:07surrounded by the sentiment of like, I wish he was here.
- 14:11Like that's going to be like the main thing that's said in
- 14:15whatever speech or comment or quote that comes out of anyone
- 14:19from his camp. That's what I wish he got to
- 14:21witness this. But to the people that wish he
- 14:25would have been here to receive induction in the Hall of Fame,
- 14:30do, and I'm I'm not, I don't have an answer.
- 14:32I'm I'm more so asking, do you think it would have been more
- 14:35messy if he was actually there in person versus him receiving
- 14:41this after the fact? Yeah, for sure.
- 14:46More controversial? I mean, because the controversy
- 14:50in and of itself of him not being there is going to be
- 14:54enough controversy to fuel that that weekend of festivities
- 14:57should he get in. But again, if he was there to
- 15:00receive this induction, it would have been all so messy.
- 15:06I don't know if there's a right way to go about this, to be
- 15:09honest. I don't know if there's like I,
- 15:12I was always under the the thought that like it was either
- 15:18never going to happen or we wouldn't.
- 15:20We were going to get to this point in life where you and I
- 15:24are the old heads and we're and we're late in life and we're
- 15:28telling our grandkids about players.
- 15:30And Pete Rose probably isn't one of the main players being
- 15:34brought up. But we're still in this period
- 15:37of like, a lot of these writers got to see him play, whether
- 15:41they were writers at the time. No, it was their dads telling
- 15:45them about this or, you know, hearing these stories from their
- 15:48grandparents. Like it was still relevant
- 15:51enough to to be in that generation.
- 15:54I thought that there was just going to get to this point where
- 15:56if he ever did get in, it would be where that almost kind of
- 16:00died off and it would be a harder decision to get him in or
- 16:05not. It makes you wonder if any of
- 16:08these writers are have like a a soft spot in their heart.
- 16:14And that's how they I don't. This is the problem with the
- 16:16Hall of Fame and this is the problem with this system is that
- 16:21it is just so subjective. And, and I, I'm, I've lost faith
- 16:28and faith in it year over year. Like it's just, it's gotten
- 16:31worse for me as time goes on. And maybe there is some ulterior
- 16:38motive that like, hey, if you're going to let Pete in, you might
- 16:40as well let these other guys in like Berry and a Rod and and
- 16:45McGuire or whatever. So it's like, I, I don't know
- 16:49what's going to come from this. So I don't, I don't know how I
- 16:52feel about it. And it sucks that these guys are
- 16:55having to be categorized in the same way where they they cheated
- 16:59in one way or another. But like, I, I've never gotten
- 17:08the feeling of seeing Pete Rose in any videos or or interviews
- 17:14or conversations with fans or meetups or him signing baseball
- 17:19saying he's sorry. Like it's weird for that comment
- 17:25to say that he can't hurt the game anymore because a lot of
- 17:31what he did after he retired, one could argue that that was
- 17:35helpful to the game of baseball. And I think he was sorry.
- 17:39And that's, I think that's what makes it even more harsh.
- 17:42I think he was quoted as saying not long before he passed, you
- 17:46know, they're asking about obviously the Hall of Fame
- 17:49induction and whether he thought he'd get in.
- 17:52And I, I don't have the quote in front of me, but I, I thought I
- 17:54read something. The effect of him saying, you
- 17:57know, if I do get in after the fact, like what good does that
- 18:01do me? It's going to benefit nobody but
- 18:03the league and the sport because they're just going to profit off
- 18:05of it in one way, shape or form, which he's not wrong.
- 18:09Because now you have, now you have that, now you have the Reds
- 18:12being able to do anything that the Reds want to do for him,
- 18:15whether that's some kind of statue or or number retiring or
- 18:19or ceremony. Like, yeah, he's exactly right.
- 18:22That's what makes it cruel. That's what makes it like you
- 18:25might as well have just left it. The you you brought up the the
- 18:30OR the topic of time though. And I, I kind of went back and
- 18:33forth. I'm like with more time, like
- 18:36had this not happened, if more time had continued to pass,
- 18:41would time have helped Pete Rose?
- 18:44And, and look, I, I'm not, don't, I'm not getting into the
- 18:47weeds of like what he was alleged of doing because he, I,
- 18:50I'm, I'm well aware that he is, you know, he's acknowledged what
- 18:56he did and that he was under the assumption of, of one thing
- 19:02versus another. I'm not, it's not my place to
- 19:04say I'm not, I'm not getting into the, the legal weeds of it.
- 19:09But had more time passed, let's, let's call it years, Not, I'm
- 19:16not talking like months, like years, maybe even decades.
- 19:21Would time have heard him or helped him?
- 19:25Because I feel like I could see it both ways where it's like 1.
- 19:29You talk about the people that were like his peers, the those
- 19:32who are around, whether it be reporters, guys he played with
- 19:35who could continue to bolster his case, continue to push for
- 19:39that. Once those guys start passing
- 19:42away, you lose that base. Then you don't have that that
- 19:47momentum helping you posthumously.
- 19:51On the flip side though, a lot of the people that are that are
- 19:57anti Pete Rose because of presumably what he did off the
- 20:02field. As we learn with these things,
- 20:07right or wrong, time tends to soften your view on an
- 20:13individual regardless what they did or didn't do.
- 20:17That's just the way time works. So.
- 20:21As is death. So it's like, I could, I could.
- 20:25I don't have an answer on the matter, but I feel like I could
- 20:28look at the effect of time on Pete Rose's legacy again.
- 20:32Had this not happened, Had we're still pretend, we're still
- 20:35waiting to see if he ever gets put off list, I could see time
- 20:38having a positive or negative effect.
- 20:42I got a question for you. I don't not, I'm not trying to
- 20:46like make it about me and, and saying this, but like I, I don't
- 20:50necessarily have, like my dad doesn't love baseball.
- 20:54He loved baseball watching me. He loved going to my games, but
- 20:58like, he wasn't super in touch with it.
- 21:01Your dad obviously loves baseball and coached us for, you
- 21:04know, half of our lives. How, what have you talked to him
- 21:08about it? Like, what is what are his
- 21:10thoughts on it, 'cause I mean, that's someone that is in that
- 21:12generation that did have the exposure to Pete Rosenway.
- 21:19I actually haven't gotten a chance to talk to him about it,
- 21:20but I it I can guess and I'll I'll have.
- 21:25You ever got his like his opinion on it in general?
- 21:28I feel like I need to, but I feel like until that
- 21:31conversation happens, I could probably guess where he would
- 21:34sort of fall, maybe not on, you know, should he be in the Hall
- 21:37of Fame or not? I, I, I won't speak for him on
- 21:40that matter, but he I'm sure he and many other people of that
- 21:46era could all acknowledge and, and you know, my dad, you know,
- 21:50this is the thing that something that he values a lot is the way
- 21:53he played the game. Charlie Hustle.
- 21:55He was guy was going to give you everything you had every single
- 22:00day. And for some people, like on the
- 22:03flip side of the off the field crowd, that that can't stand
- 22:07them for those reasons that you have, you have another side or I
- 22:10won't even say. I won't even say there's two
- 22:11sides. Maybe there's maybe it's a
- 22:13little more Gray than it than it, the black and white that I'm
- 22:15making it out to be. But on the flip side, you've got
- 22:19people who very much appreciated, cherished what he
- 22:24did on the field as a player and and even as a manager.
- 22:28I suppose that maybe would be, and I'm not saying my dad or or
- 22:34speaking for anybody else here, but I'm saying maybe people
- 22:38because of that would be willing to look past any offense that
- 22:44took place off the field. Again, nothing was, you know,
- 22:51punished legally. I guess you could say.
- 22:53I think there was just like some some hot water that he got
- 22:56himself into, obviously. But anyway, I, there's just so
- 23:01many ways that I feel like you could look at this and I, I
- 23:04don't, I'm just, I'm curious if this announcement from Major
- 23:09League Baseball from Rob Manfred really changes anybody's mind or
- 23:12if this just further, you know, digs the heels in, if you will,
- 23:20of people on on either side of the aisle, regardless where they
- 23:23fall because of because of this news.
- 23:28I I don't. Know I get what you mean.
- 23:31But you're saying you think he gets in.
- 23:32At the end of the day, you think he gets in.
- 23:37I do. I do think he gets in now.
- 23:40I did they say anything about like what this process looks
- 23:43like? Is it, are they back on the
- 23:46ballot? Is it like the like the
- 23:49committee situation where you get like guys off the ballot
- 23:53that still get a chance? I haven't confirmed, but I, I
- 23:57think that I've, I've came across a note at some point in
- 24:02the last 24 hours talking about how there might be a, a
- 24:06committee involved. Yeah, I think to, to get them on
- 24:13the ballot, I think like a decision has to be made to get
- 24:17them on the ballot because the way I'm interpreting this and
- 24:21understanding it is that this just means that they're no
- 24:25longer, you know, banned or ineligible even though they've
- 24:29passed away. But getting on the ballot, I
- 24:33think is a is a whole other conversation.
- 24:35Because the, the obvious like reasoning and, and points to the
- 24:40question is that like you have a limited amount of votes and
- 24:42like, how unlucky would it would it be if you're on the ballot
- 24:46for the first time in your career and like maybe you're 1
- 24:50vote away from staying on that ballot and that vote is going to
- 24:54some guy that was, you know, spent his entire life being
- 24:57banned. You know what I mean?
- 24:58Like, it's, it's an interesting thing.
- 25:00Like I, I wouldn't want it, I wouldn't want current players to
- 25:04suffer on the ballot. So I don't know what that
- 25:10situation looks like, but overall, I, I, I think he gets
- 25:15in and I think it, I think it does kind of settle some stuff
- 25:25and it makes you wonder if this is some type of stepping stone
- 25:29to, to the steroid era. Let's just face it.
- 25:36And I've always kind of been in the, in the, in the camp where,
- 25:40you know, the Hall of Fame needs to have a separate, it's a
- 25:44museum. And, and the fact for us to act
- 25:48like certain players or certain eras just didn't happen, just
- 25:52didn't exist. I think it's also a disservice
- 25:56to the game. So I, if there's some kind of
- 25:58wing that can be created and you want to call it the, you know,
- 26:02the the cheater wing or the band wing or whatever it is.
- 26:09The truth of the matter is when I have a kid, I, I want to be
- 26:11able to take them to the Hall of Fame.
- 26:13And I want to be able to tell them about those, those players
- 26:16in those eras and those moments in the game, because it is our
- 26:19game is what it is today. Because of those things.
- 26:22We can't just act like they didn't happen or didn't exist.
- 26:26Yeah. It's still a museum at the end
- 26:28of the day. Yeah.
- 26:30And. It I'm I'm all for telling the
- 26:33story because, like you said, we wouldn't be regardless how you
- 26:36feel about steroids. This game would not be what it
- 26:38is today without that era of, of player of game, of narrative, of
- 26:45storyline. And you know, I'm, I think the,
- 26:52the, the issue that I have with the Hall of Fame is this
- 26:56constant effort of, of trying to present this like faultless
- 27:04image. And it's like, that's just not
- 27:07baseball. That's not life.
- 27:08You can't there's you, you from from beginning to whenever the
- 27:13game of baseball comes to an end, because everything comes to
- 27:17an end. Don't know when it's going to
- 27:18be. I hope it's not for a very, very
- 27:20long time, but you cannot expect to present the history, the
- 27:26story of the sport in a way that is without blemish.
- 27:31And so I know it's easy for me to say, but you just got like
- 27:36you're saying, you got to find a way to present it via a steroid
- 27:41wing and just call it that. Just call it the steroid air.
- 27:44Don't try to button it up and be like baseball in the 90s, like
- 27:47just call it what it is. Because that's the only way that
- 27:51I think you're going to appease. But well, not completely, but
- 27:55it's probably as good as you're going to get, is it?
- 27:57If you at least acknowledge what happened and stop pretending as
- 28:01if it never happened, but also presenting the caveat that this
- 28:08wasn't done, you know, on the up and up.
- 28:13I don't know. Drop some good words so far.
- 28:17I'm trying man. Episode was the first one.
- 28:22Post something posthumously. That's a good one.
- 28:29Caveat ain't bad, but posthumously?
- 28:32How about that? How about that?
- 28:34I think we beat this thing to death.
- 28:37Yeah. I don't know.
- 28:40We haven't talked about Joe Shoeless Joe Jackson yet.
- 28:44Do we need to? I mean, I feel.
- 28:47Like this is a whole different level.
- 28:49Guy's been waiting 106 years for for justice, you know.
- 28:59No, it's. I don't want him in because that
- 29:02changes the whole script to Field of Dreams.
- 29:04They're going to have to remake Field of Dreams.
- 29:06Dude, I'm glad you brought that up.
- 29:08I'm, you know, I'm sitting here thinking like, Oh yeah, I've got
- 29:11like a pretty good understanding of like the Black Sox scandal
- 29:13and all that. I.
- 29:17Rafi, Rafi. I I don't think I have nearly
- 29:26the idea about everything that happened there that I think I do
- 29:29I need to brush up. No, I need to be educated.
- 29:34That's what I'm saying. I.
- 29:35Probably do too. Like I, I don't even think I've
- 29:38seen what is it 8 men out. I think I've got to watch that.
- 29:41I need to read some books I'd I hate reading.
- 29:43So that's that's already I'm already, I'm already down a
- 29:47notch there. Eight men out I've heard is
- 29:50decent. Maybe I'll try to watch it this
- 29:53weekend. I've heard it's.
- 29:54I've heard it's a good, good motion picture.
- 29:56Charlie Sheen in that one, too. I feel like he is.
- 30:05Why do I think that was like, sort of a loaded cast?
- 30:07Maybe not John Cusack, Charlie Sheen, Christopher Lloyd,
- 30:16Michael Lerner. Decent guest.
- 30:19Not a bad cast. Yeah, anyway, yeah, you know, as
- 30:24I mentioned, Shoeless Joe gets it or gets removed off the list
- 30:27and a plethora of other. Any other recognizable names?
- 30:38No, but you want me to run through some of these names?
- 30:41I'd love to hear some names if if we're going back then Buck.
- 30:45Weaver, Eddie Chicotti, Lefty Williams.
- 30:51Happy Feisch, Fred McMullen, Swede.
- 30:55Reisberg. Oh, Swede.
- 30:58Chick Gandal, Joe Gideon, Jean Paulette, Benny Cough.
- 31:07Lee McGee. Come on shuffle.
- 31:12I swear to you, Lee MAMAGEE, unless it's Lee Maggie, but I'm
- 31:18I like Lee McGee better. That's way.
- 31:20Better so why his parents hated him?
- 31:22Shufflin, Phil Douglas. Shufflin.
- 31:26Shufflin, Phil Douglas IN Apostrophe No.
- 31:30G Oh, that's even better. Shufflin, Phil Douglas, Jimmy
- 31:34O'Connell, Cozy Dolan, William Cox, and the aforementioned Pete
- 31:42Rose. Excellent.
- 31:47Welcome to not being permanently banned forever by baseball.
- 31:57Shuffling. Welcome shuffling, good to have
- 32:01you. In other news, let's move along.
- 32:11Pretty pretty excited about this one.
- 32:14Yeah, gas me up a bit. Paul schemes.
- 32:19The Paul schemes. Some may even say top three
- 32:24pitcher in baseball has committed to pitch for Team USA
- 32:30in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
- 32:35That's all I got, but big news from from Pauly Skeens.
- 32:42DJ Pauly Skeens, I love this. This is huge for many reasons.
- 32:50One, it bolsters what's already, I'm hoping going to be a
- 32:57fantastic roster. I mean, we've seen the, we've
- 33:01seen the projected lineup, the, the hopeful lineup, if you will.
- 33:08But you never know, it's easy to put the best names down on a, on
- 33:11a sheet of paper and then be like, well, this, this could be
- 33:14it. It really works out that way.
- 33:16But I mentioned that I love this for many reasons.
- 33:19Another reason that I love this is because you've got one of the
- 33:22game's premier players already, even at his age, even at his
- 33:26early stage in his career, one of the game's premier players
- 33:30saying, yeah, I'm down. Count me in.
- 33:35You didn't you didn't you saw the they they brought him out
- 33:38on, on what was it MLB Central the other day to make the
- 33:42announcement. And you got Dero talking about
- 33:46how like, I thought I was going to have to talk him into this
- 33:49and schemes was like, I thought I was going to have to talk you
- 33:52into this. And that just goes to show you
- 33:54like his willingness to to want to contribute to this.
- 33:58And he talked about watching previous world baseball
- 34:00classics. So to the, the creator of the
- 34:04World Baseball Classic, I, I mean, maybe not completely, but
- 34:07we're like 95% mission accomplished in terms of getting
- 34:13this moving in the right direction.
- 34:16Because if you go back and look at some of those previous
- 34:17rosters, absolute garbage. Bunch of nobodies.
- 34:20I mean, no, no disrespect, but bunch of bunch of nobodies, some
- 34:25disrespect. It's a little bit of disrespect,
- 34:27but at the same time, they were willing to sign up.
- 34:29So, you know, I can't knock them too much.
- 34:32But comparatively to others, others in the league, maybe not
- 34:35as noteworthy, maybe not as notable.
- 34:39But when you get a guy like Paul skiing saying yeah, I'm in, you
- 34:44start looking at elsewhere around the league going well,
- 34:48why wouldn't you join this team? Yeah, See, that's my thing.
- 34:53And that's like, I'm not I, I didn't mean any shade against
- 34:57Mike Trout. It was just like if it was Mike
- 35:00Trout four years prior to the last one or three years prior to
- 35:06the last one, then it would have felt a little bit different.
- 35:09Like it, I think it was just towards the end and it didn't
- 35:14carry the same weight. Now you literally have arguably
- 35:19two of the most popular players from either side of the ball
- 35:26that can that can Don USA jerseys signing up and saying
- 35:31yes like that in in their prime during their best part, and we
- 35:37probably haven't even seen Paul Skeeton's prime yet, but during
- 35:41their their top. Peak.
- 35:44Athleticism, they're saying yes, let's do it.
- 35:48So it's like, yeah, I say what you will about Error Judge not
- 35:52being a good captain or whatever, but like people are
- 35:55going to going to want to go play with him, bro.
- 35:58Like, yes, I'm signing up to someone who averages 60 home
- 36:02runs a year for the last three years.
- 36:04I'm down. Let's roll.
- 36:07Yes, I want to sign up for somebody who does not care who's
- 36:11in the box, who is going to throw the way he wants to throw,
- 36:16who has donned USA uniforms in the past in his youth, who was
- 36:24ready to put on the real USA uniform and go fight for our
- 36:29country. Yeah, bro, gas me up.
- 36:34I'm super down. And you know, we saw, I think
- 36:39we, we came up with our own like Dream Team USA lineup just a few
- 36:43weeks back. And we're, we're throwing out
- 36:47names like scuba and things like that and maybe some other arms
- 36:50that would really fill out a front end of a, a rotation.
- 36:54But honestly, I'm like, if, if this is our number one, I'm I'm
- 36:59cool with that because who was our number one last year or last
- 37:04last time around? Adam Wainwright, I.
- 37:08Lance Lynn, I think, was on the staff.
- 37:11Like it wasn't great. Well, like we made progress
- 37:14positionally. Like we had some dudes.
- 37:17I think Merrill Kelly was. Around the Merrill Kelly was
- 37:20also, yeah. And he was getting comparisons
- 37:23to like, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson or something,
- 37:26which I thought was a little weird.
- 37:27But you know, I was feeling, I was, I was vibing.
- 37:31It was just, it wasn't good. It it wasn't good, that's
- 37:36already off to a better start. That's what I'm saying
- 37:39positionally, if if we can replicate or even improve upon
- 37:42what we did last time out, but then get better arms, it's
- 37:47nobody's beating that team. Nobody.
- 37:50And I put it out. I'm going to need like a I'm
- 37:52going to need like an Army green alternate jersey, I think.
- 37:55I think that needs to. Be a thing they're not going to
- 37:57do that I. Think they need to I think they.
- 38:00Need it dude this logo right here that I got on my shirt.
- 38:03They are going to run with this it seems for the next I got to
- 38:06be honest, I. Miss the old USA logo?
- 38:10I I don't even know what the old USA logo was at this.
- 38:13Point it had it it was I didn't have the striped S it was a *.
- 38:18I couldn't be more out on the striped SI mean.
- 38:21I'm going to wear it. I'm going to wear it because,
- 38:23you know, I mean, well, I mean, I did snag this at the while we
- 38:26were out there. So I'm going to wear it.
- 38:28We had to, but I'm like you could do so like channel.
- 38:34I may or may not have said this on the pod channel, the 90 go
- 38:38look up the the uniforms that the 1980 USA Hockey team wore in
- 38:45the Olympics. It's like you, I mean, you've,
- 38:48you've probably seen jerseys like this on college campuses or
- 38:52stuff like the the vintage throwbacks.
- 38:54It's like the royal blue, the red and the white.
- 38:57Go with that. That's top tier.
- 39:01Give me like the nice block lettering, very like a
- 39:03minimalist jersey, some stars, some stripes or whatever.
- 39:06Call it a day. It's game over.
- 39:08Nobody's beating that team Japan good.
- 39:11Luck this was the old one. Yeah, no, I it's better I vibe
- 39:18with that, but I still think you could even improve upon that.
- 39:21You definitely could, but it's better than this striped S
- 39:23thing. Yeah, I'm over it.
- 39:25I'm over it. And in the chat, Jacob says.
- 39:28Would prefer a different manager for a WBCI.
- 39:31Couldn't disagree more. I love me some.
- 39:33D Roe not disagree more, Jacob. Love me some D Roe.
- 39:38A Braves fan who doesn't like D Roe?
- 39:41What I don't understand, I don't follow.
- 39:43I need a follow up comment because.
- 39:47Crazy D Roe is no sense D Roe is a dude and I I can only imagine
- 39:53that the guys in that that. I think he's the perfect guy.
- 39:56Dugout for that short period of time and they're in March.
- 40:00I didn't help but love the. Guy because like he's he
- 40:04obviously knows ball, but he's like very openly like a fan of
- 40:09these guys to where there's like a.
- 40:12Giddy when skis walked out from behind the wall on MOV Central.
- 40:15There's like a. Level of like fandom, the
- 40:20respect because he did play and he played for a long time and
- 40:25he's also like not too old like there this he checks every box.
- 40:30This is a that's a miss Jacob. You missed you're taking an L
- 40:36Wear that one. Wear that one who's he want as a
- 40:41skipper Buck yeah let's get let's get old buck in there no
- 40:46disrespect no disrespect all right let's get D Roe is the guy
- 40:52D Roe's the fit you know I say run it back he just keep running
- 40:57back with D Roe. I mean, hopefully we get like a
- 40:59win or two in there, but like just keep running back I.
- 41:02I agree and I I would like to see D Roe actually get in like
- 41:05an actual manager job someday, but until then just keep cycling
- 41:12this. I agree.
- 41:14I I agree with you, but I'm like, you know what?
- 41:16This is like his little niche thing, gum whatever like.
- 41:18I see. MOB network in.
- 41:20Your eye. You're so torn on this situation
- 41:22right now, aren't you? Stop.
- 41:24You're so for the socks to blow it yet again.
- 41:27You're so torn. Swept out of Detroit.
- 41:29For those who don't know, obviously Kyle's a Red Sox fan.
- 41:32Chapman on the bump. Who's on Kyle's fantasy team?
- 41:35Facing Javi Baez, Who's on Kyle's fantasy team with a man
- 41:40on 3rd bottom 91 out. You couldn't be more torn.
- 41:45You're OK with any outcome right now, aren't you?
- 41:50He. Missed it?
- 41:54There's your. Follow up comment Dero hasn't
- 41:56gotten a manager role so I want someone of the more experienced
- 41:58Jacob. He took him to the the the the
- 42:01championship. And, and there's not many
- 42:05managers that have WBC experience, different ball game,
- 42:10different, different whole different challenge.
- 42:13Crazy. We're the L Jacob.
- 42:16It's a tough night. Talking about the Sox, let's get
- 42:19into some Let's get into some given some props here, shall we?
- 42:26Rafael Devers over his last 15 games hitting 390 coming into
- 42:34today, Wednesday, 390 with four homers, 15 ribbies and an OPS of
- 42:411139. Again, that's his last 15 games
- 42:43coming into today since May 8th, which which is when he made his
- 42:48comments about first base and Nate's birthday.
- 42:52It's a good birthday gift. He's hitting.
- 42:57So what's controversy? OK, I was like, well, I'm not
- 42:59tracking here because if you're talking about what I'm about to
- 43:01say, then I'm. I'm a little confused.
- 43:04Raphael Deverson's May 8th is hitting 455 with two homers, 8
- 43:10ribbies and an OPS of 1328. Those are super super impressive
- 43:17and tradable stats. And we just got swept out of
- 43:24Detroit. Love that.
- 43:25I'm going to turn this TV off Godly man.
- 43:30Anyway, Oh, Chapman strikes again.
- 43:33Anyway. And the and the reigning AO
- 43:39Player of the week, just to put a bow on the first first honor
- 43:44for this week's credit Cannon, Raphael Devers.
- 43:48Next up, Ryan McMahon. Ryan McMahon coming into
- 43:53Wednesday has a 395 average with 15 hits, 4 homers, 7 ribbies,
- 44:00and an OPS of 1353 since the start of the month.
- 44:05What's interesting though is not just that stretch, but what he
- 44:09did before that. From the start of the season to
- 44:12April 30th, he was hitting 147 with an on base of 273, slugging
- 44:19235 and an OPS of five O 8. Counter that with the numbers I
- 44:27just shared before that, quite the turn around.
- 44:30Ryan McMahon, congratulations on your first honor.
- 44:37I am going to copy and paste my last statement.
- 44:41A very tradable performance, like a lefty third baseman who's
- 44:47got some pop and plays a good D He's a little expensive, so the
- 44:51Rockies are going to have to eat money, but like, if he can I.
- 44:56Rockies love eating money, what are you talking about?
- 44:59Don't be surprised if he finds a new home at some point this this
- 45:02season and provides some juice. Anywhere I'm put you on spot
- 45:07here. Anywhere in particular, I mean,
- 45:13who knows? Red Sox might be looking for a
- 45:15corner infielder before too long.
- 45:17It's valid. I think he does he have some
- 45:19first base time. I don't know if he does I.
- 45:23Feel like he does, no. Does he have, does he have an
- 45:28outfielder experience though that I feel like?
- 45:31It's see a little, little Mariners in that maybe.
- 45:38Yeah, he's got some first base time.
- 45:40Yeah, he's also got some time in second.
- 45:41What the heck? See a little Mariner in that.
- 45:48I would say Yankees, but they they need right-handed hitters.
- 46:00I mean, if Philly continues down this path of not loving 1 Sir
- 46:05Alec Baum, that would be interesting.
- 46:12Bro just went deep tonight. Baum would really hate this
- 46:15place if bro got traded to Denver.
- 46:20That'd be the worst. I don't know, doesn't seem to be
- 46:26too, too happy in Philly right now.
- 46:33Speaking of Philly, Kyle Schwarber ending his 47 game on
- 46:44base streak today in the first game of the doubleheader.
- 46:47But what did he do in game two of the doubleheader?
- 46:54Mammo tank to right, starting a new streak anew.
- 47:02So good for Kyle Schwarber. He's not the only he's not the
- 47:07only Philly I got on here, but I had to transition to a Philly
- 47:11with that with that set up. So let's let's digress a little
- 47:15bit here. Let's go Jacob Wilson.
- 47:21Jacob Wilson right now is the only player in baseball with
- 47:24over a 500 slugging percentage and under a 10% strikeout rate
- 47:30this season. He had his first career Homer,
- 47:34first career 2 Homer game, and it came against the Dodgers in a
- 47:40game in which the A's beat the Dodgers by what a score of it
- 47:44was 11 to 1. The A's my my Sacramento A's, my
- 47:53post season A's. Should we go out there?
- 47:57Marched it to where? Sacramento.
- 47:59Yeah. Why do I feel like Sacramento's
- 48:02a dump? No disrespect, I'm just going
- 48:04to. This is the no disrespect
- 48:05episode. You don't just get to say no
- 48:07disrespect after you you. Can you can literally say no?
- 48:11No, you can literally say whatever you want as long as you
- 48:14follow it with no. Disrespect or with all due
- 48:18respect before. With all.
- 48:22With all due respect, Sacramento sucks.
- 48:27Honestly, that sounds more insulting.
- 48:28Not that bad, with all due respect.
- 48:32When you preface it, when you, when you lead them with with
- 48:35all, with all due respect, that's more insulting than no
- 48:38disrespect. Per my last e-mail will start.
- 48:41I love those man. I hate it.
- 48:46How are the game probably hasn't started yet because it's a 10:00
- 48:49game. I was going to say how the how
- 48:51the A's beating up on the Dodgers tonight.
- 48:53No, ages are 22 and 20. Don't look now.
- 48:56That's such a wild stat, dude, isn't it?
- 49:00Not to not strike out this much, but it's, it's very odd.
- 49:06And it's not like he's walking a ton.
- 49:10Bro just puts the ball on play all the time.
- 49:15Very, very old school. Is he already better than his
- 49:20dad? No disrespect.
- 49:24I'm going to keep it real with you.
- 49:25I have no idea who his dad is. Wilson's a pretty generic name.
- 49:28What's the story? Jack.
- 49:31Oh, right. Yeah, Yeah.
- 49:32No, we talked about. You're right.
- 49:33Yeah, we. I remember pirate for a while.
- 49:34Wasn't it? That's right.
- 49:35Yeah. Yeah, we talked about this.
- 49:36Holy cow, we're old. According to Martine Gallegos on
- 49:43Twitter, per our MLB Research team, Jacob Wilson is the first
- 49:45visiting rookie in MLB history to collect four hits and two
- 49:49home runs in a game at Dodger Stadium.
- 49:54Libro was not intimidated by the bright lights whatsoever.
- 49:58Let's go. Ace.
- 49:58In fact, it probably helped that he had bright lights compared to
- 50:02what they're working with out there in Sacramento.
- 50:04No disrespect, no disrespect, no disrespect, but his Baseball
- 50:08Savant page is exactly what you would expect it to be.
- 50:13A whole lot of blue and a whole lot of red.
- 50:16It's not. We're not talking like middle of
- 50:18the road here very much ends of the spectrum, exit Velo, hard
- 50:24hit percentage, barrel percentage, sweet spots
- 50:27percentage, bat speed percentage.
- 50:29He's in the first first percentile and bat speed
- 50:32percentage, but when it comes to he's in the 100th percentile
- 50:38squared up percentage K K percentage and with percentage
- 50:45or with percentage is 99th expected batting average 97th.
- 50:49So literally exactly what you would expect.
- 50:52So good for Jacob Wilson. That was a long winded way of
- 50:55saying sure, welcome to the credit Canon.
- 51:01We already went through. We covered Kyle Schwarber next.
- 51:04Philly up. Zach Wheeler, Philly's ace, is
- 51:18coming in riding A5 game slate that is exceptional In his last
- 51:26five starts, he's 3 and O with an ERA of 214 with 46 strikeouts
- 51:33in those five starts. I saw a stat today, Zach Wheeler
- 51:40is one of four and this is maybe from a day or two ago so I I
- 51:44don't know if this has changed. I doubt it, but Zach Wheeler as
- 51:48of a couple days ago is one of four arms in baseball that are
- 51:54top ten in strikeout percentage and walk percentage.
- 51:57Tarek School, Zach Wheeler, Hunter Green and Joe Ryan.
- 52:01Decent. Is he the front runner for that?
- 52:03And I'll say young right now. Now, why do I feel like we're
- 52:13missing somebody super obvious right now?
- 52:16Well, I mean hunter greens. Hurt.
- 52:18No, no, no. I know, I know.
- 52:19Some time. It doesn't help he I think when
- 52:22he comes back, we'll quickly forget.
- 52:25A missed starter too. I think we'll be all right.
- 52:27Cease has had some hiccups. Yamamoto's look good, but not so
- 52:33young good. Let's check here who.
- 52:41Logan looks like he's. Sorry, did you say, did you say
- 52:43Logan Webb? I didn't.
- 52:45Logan Webb's looking very good this year.
- 52:47Paul Skeens. Logan Webb's tough because like,
- 52:50well, he, he has been punching out guys more often this year
- 52:54than he has in his career. But he's tough, man, because he
- 52:57just doesn't have like, the sexy numbers.
- 53:00Yeah. Gets a lot of ground balls.
- 53:03Paul Skeens, I think is just going to have the the sex, the
- 53:07sex appeal, if you will, when it comes to the vote.
- 53:10Whether or not he's able to shake off a couple of these if
- 53:14he starts as of late, we have yet to see, but I think the
- 53:19confidence is there to do it. Whatever keeps him in shape for
- 53:23the WBC. Truly, yeah.
- 53:25I mean, it's nothing else. You're playing for nothing else.
- 53:29You're playing for absolutely nothing.
- 53:34And lastly here, closing out this week's edition of the
- 53:40Credit Cannon, a name that I'll be honest with you, back in back
- 53:46in February, March, I didn't anticipate seeing this deep into
- 53:50the season. And yeah, I'm saying this deep
- 53:52into the season because we're talking about this specific
- 53:54individual, Jacob degrom. The fact that he's still healthy
- 54:02and pitching rather well is impressive.
- 54:06And his last five starts dating back to April 8th.
- 54:09Honestly, the the Zach Wheeler slate going back to April 18th
- 54:14and Jacob degrom slate going back to April 18th are are, as I
- 54:19mentioned, both exceptional and they both made starts on April
- 54:2518th. So something must have clicked
- 54:27on that day because going back to April 18th for Jacob degrom 5
- 54:31starts three and one in that stretch with an ERA of 191 with
- 54:3633 punch outs in those five games.
- 54:41So you know, good on Jacob to grind.
- 54:43He's back a little bit, man. I think he's back to the best.
- 54:46You're going to see him beat, which is pretty.
- 54:51Good. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:53I mean, his last start out against the Tigers.
- 54:57Ten punch outs over 5 innings, just two earned runs.
- 55:02I mean seven strike. I'm just looking at the game
- 55:06log. 7 strikeouts. 6 strikeouts. 7 strikeouts. 310 strikeouts.
- 55:13Guys got it. He's back.
- 55:16He's got to stay healthy, I think.
- 55:17He's growing the hair out again too, isn't he?
- 55:18He is, yeah, growing a little bit of lettuce Outback the.
- 55:22Speaking of staying healthy, A1 Clayton Kershaw is set to make
- 55:30his debut on Saturday versus the Angels in the Freeway Series.
- 55:39So yeah, you knew I was going to pick him up in fantasy a couple
- 55:42weeks back anticipating this being the case.
- 55:45So we'll see how it goes. I'm hoping for they.
- 55:49I read that he's not on. Well, he said he's not on a
- 55:51pitch limit and I think I said he he threw hold on.
- 55:56I don't want to. I don't want to speak out of my
- 55:57behind right now. Did he go?
- 56:01Did he go 6? I swear he went six.
- 56:08I thought I read somewhere that he went 6.
- 56:10Maybe he was not 6. Is there a fire in Chicago?
- 56:14What's happening? So smoky there.
- 56:17I don't know. Where did I see that?
- 56:25Or maybe I saw like 60 pitches he went his last outing there
- 56:30was a six or something. But ultimately he should be good
- 56:35to go. Looks like everything is squared
- 56:37away. On the flip side, elsewhere in
- 56:39the rotation, Rokie Sasaki has hit the shelf with right
- 56:44shoulder impingement. So he'll be on the shelf for a
- 56:46little bit a couple weeks. 15 day IL another name on the IL
- 56:51Oswaldo Cabrera Tell me a little bit about this.
- 56:54I I didn't I intentionally didn't look at the video.
- 56:58So I. Don't can you send me a video
- 57:01because I watched it live and they didn't do a replay so you.
- 57:05Really want this. Yeah, I just need to see it.
- 57:10OK. And I and I deleted all my all
- 57:13my stuff so I don't look it up. So if you're unfamiliar, it's
- 57:21like this SAC fly. He's on 3rd, he's tagging up,
- 57:26running home, throw up the line. And you know, when that like the
- 57:32catcher kind of comes up the line and it, it like causes the
- 57:35runner to go around him just a little bit.
- 57:38When he did that all I saw him, he just, he just goes down and
- 57:45ends up breaking his ankle. And it was actually like, it was
- 57:49pretty sad, man. Like I'm not going to lie, like
- 57:51it was, it was sad because he's such a vibes guy and he's like a
- 57:55clubhouse guy. And you could tell that like
- 57:57everyone was pretty shaken up. Like the trainer came out from
- 58:01both when both trainers come out.
- 58:03It's game over. And like immediately wave like a
- 58:07cart on and then the cart isn't even good enough.
- 58:10Like we need the ambulance out here.
- 58:12Well, I read that they like immediately put the towel over
- 58:14it, which is never a good thing. Yeah, that's pretty.
- 58:17That's pretty, really pretty rough too.
- 58:19Was it a clean break like I I don't know I I don't know the
- 58:23the extent or or. Why is this so blurry?
- 58:26Damage that was caused but Yikes did not sound.
- 58:31It's it couldn't be more blurry what's happening.
- 58:33That I don't I. Don't.
- 58:36There it is. We're good, we're back and it
- 58:40sucks. Is that it?
- 58:41Because like it was kind of like a laugher of a game at that
- 58:43moment. Yeah.
- 58:49His foot's just go in the wrong direction.
- 58:52Tough man, tough. That was an ugly one.
- 58:55Good on that trainer, man. I, I thought that was like a lot
- 58:59of times you see like I don't, you just don't see that kind of
- 59:04like trainer comfort that that the guy provided.
- 59:10It was kind of legit dude. Like he like hugs because
- 59:14Cabrera is like laying on his stomach.
- 59:16He crawled over the plate and touched the plate and then just
- 59:18stopped. The trainer comes out and like,
- 59:21like he immediately like gets on the ground and like hugs him.
- 59:23So Cabrera doesn't look back at his foot.
- 59:29Then he just like, hugs him and he's like holding his head
- 59:32because Cabrera is crying and he's just like rubbing his back.
- 59:34And I'm like, like, such nice treatment and like, it was just
- 59:38cool. Like, it's, I don't know, it's
- 59:40cool to see those guys, like, kind of jump into action and
- 59:43just it was it was a very, like, difficult injury and seeing it
- 59:48that way. Yeah.
- 59:49His foot is sideways. Yeah, I mean, you know, those
- 59:53those medical Staffs, training Staffs are always working behind
- 59:56the scenes, unsung heroes for for so many of these teams.
- 1:00:02And he rode with him to the hospital, by the way, in the
- 1:00:04ambulance. Love that.
- 1:00:06But. Like when you see a guy or when
- 1:00:08you see a staff just jump into action without hesitating
- 1:00:12whatsoever and do what they've been trained to do.
- 1:00:16You just love to see that and obviously you hate to see it,
- 1:00:20you know, come about in this way.
- 1:00:22But you know, yeah, it sounds like he'll he'll be take or he
- 1:00:26has been taken care of as as best he can, but.
- 1:00:30He's probably done for the year. Yeah, he never, he say three to
- 1:00:32four months, but I mean, that's he's probably done for the year.
- 1:00:36It sucks, man. He's he's a cool.
- 1:00:38He's a cool dude. And for those who like aren't
- 1:00:40super familiar with Yankees baseball at all, like he's he's
- 1:00:44just a super happy guy. Plays whatever position they
- 1:00:46tell him to play. Plays it hard it it's like he's
- 1:00:50one of those guys were like if you, if you wanted to emulate,
- 1:00:53you know, working your butt off and playing the game the right
- 1:00:55way, He was one of those. So definitely sucks.
- 1:01:01Ronald Cunha junior, I believe it was last night in his first
- 1:01:05game back since his ACL surgery last year.
- 1:01:11He was playing for the FCL Braves.
- 1:01:14Think it was like his third AB went deep.
- 1:01:17So encouraging signs there from from Old Ronnie baseball.
- 1:01:24Did I see something that he issued an apology today?
- 1:01:27Not. About what?
- 1:01:29What did he do? His comments Thought it was
- 1:01:35today. Let me see.
- 1:01:38What is he apologizing for now? Acuna apologizes to the Braves.
- 1:01:43Oh yeah, yeah. Apologizes to teammates and
- 1:01:45Brian Snicker for his where he addressed his tweet.
- 1:01:51Yeah. A month later.
- 1:01:57Yeah, I don't know. I.
- 1:01:59Don't know, I'm sure coming though he comes.
- 1:02:01Yeah, I was going to say, I'm sure Braves fans and the Braves
- 1:02:04themselves are just wanting to move past it and get back to
- 1:02:08playing good ball. They have been playing good
- 1:02:10ball. I see they're, they're back to
- 1:02:11500, right? Yeah, that's impressive.
- 1:02:14Coming into the day, yeah, you know, probably.
- 1:02:17During the start I I didn't, I didn't call it dad.
- 1:02:20I refused. Nor did I I, if you recall,
- 1:02:24though I said I wanted to get my I wanted to get my shots in
- 1:02:27while I could. No disrespect, no disrespect,
- 1:02:30but you did read some stats about like never, never doing
- 1:02:33this, never doing that after an O and seven start, you know?
- 1:02:37It literally the the history is there like on paper it said no
- 1:02:42team had made the postseason after starting what What did
- 1:02:45they start? O and seven I.
- 1:02:46Think it was O and eight. O and eight, maybe no team had
- 1:02:50made the O and seven, maybe no team.
- 1:02:54O and eight no team had made the postseason after the start that
- 1:02:58they had. That's I'm not making I'm not
- 1:03:01like searching for that. It was it was flying all over
- 1:03:03the place and I was like, oh, let me just read no disrespect.
- 1:03:06Let me just relay that to the people because that'd be a
- 1:03:08disservice not to but they've they've turned it around so good
- 1:03:14on them. I I got my shots in while I
- 1:03:15could, but here come the Braves. I can't believe I'm reading
- 1:03:24this. In the year 2025, Rich Hill has
- 1:03:27signed a minor league agreement with the Kansas City Royals.
- 1:03:32If Rich Hill pitches for the Royals this year, he will tie
- 1:03:36the MLB record held by Edwin Jackson of playing for 14
- 1:03:39different teams. Enter the Jesse Pinkman GIF of
- 1:03:47You can't keep getting away with this.
- 1:03:49Like that's how I feel. That's exactly right.
- 1:03:52Just shut it down. Shut it down.
- 1:03:56Sick of it. Matt Carpenter, Dad.
- 1:04:01Like, yeah, go like, go hang out with your family.
- 1:04:04Like what are we doing? Stop pitching against like U18
- 1:04:10teams man. Like who am I to say if I could
- 1:04:13still do it, I'd probably still do it, but I can't.
- 1:04:15I can barely lift my arm these days so.
- 1:04:17I know. Easy for me to say.
- 1:04:19Guy's got 30 years on us and he's still got some bullets in
- 1:04:23the tank. Good for him.
- 1:04:27Matt Carpenter has announced his retirement after a 14 year
- 1:04:30career. Was a three time All Star and a
- 1:04:32Silver Slugger. Finished with a cumulative
- 1:04:36career WAR of 28.7. Nice, nice career right there.
- 1:04:40That's a good career. Had over a little over 1200
- 1:04:43hits, 179 homers and was a 259 hitter.
- 1:04:48Had quite a little resurgence. I know you can speak to it there
- 1:04:51in the Bronx it. Was a fun couple weeks.
- 1:04:54That was interesting to see. Yeah.
- 1:04:56A little renaissance, yeah. But yeah, con it a career and I
- 1:05:06guess we could say Hall of Good. Borderline, yeah.
- 1:05:11Borderline which side? Borderline not getting into the
- 1:05:14hall of good. I feel like 1200 hits is a
- 1:05:17little light but still a nice career man.
- 1:05:20Well, there's 2 halls above that.
- 1:05:22Don't forget what's above. There's you got your, you got
- 1:05:27your Hall of Fame, you got your Hall of very Good.
- 1:05:29And then Hall of Good is what I was, what I was proposing.
- 1:05:33I'll throw them in the Hall of Good.
- 1:05:35Yeah, I thought that was a A. I'll throw them in the.
- 1:05:38Hall of I mean no disrespect, but I thought that was a good.
- 1:05:40I thought that was a good Holigood, a good tier to to slot
- 1:05:45him in at Holigood. Yeah, that's all we got.
- 1:05:52Wanted to close though, with a note, a little reminder about
- 1:05:58this Sunday. Look, if you know how to keep
- 1:06:04book, if you know how to how to score a baseball game.
- 1:06:08If you don't know how to score a baseball game, slash keep book

- 1:06:17night baseball live stream. We're going to be on Facebook,
- 1:06:20We're going to be on YouTube, We're going to be on Twitter.
- 1:06:26The three O take YouTube, the three O take Facebook and my
- 1:06:30Twitter. You can find me there you go in
- 1:06:32the chat. Bought a book just to learn from
- 1:06:35the expert. I as well.
- 1:06:38My book is on the way, the one that Nate recommended.
- 1:06:42I'm very much looking forward to this and it seemed I put out a
- 1:06:45little little promo post about it today and it seemed to be
- 1:06:48received very well by the by the people.
- 1:06:50I've already, they've already been a few people that said they
- 1:06:52were going to be there and I'm imagine that only more are going
- 1:06:57to join us for this experience. It's free of charge.
- 1:07:00You're learning how to. Keep book with Nate.
- 1:07:02We're not charging you. Nate's going to teach you this
- 1:07:04this skill. It's a life skill.
- 1:07:07That you can use for the rest of your life whenever you go to a
- 1:07:09baseball game for free. That's right.
- 1:07:13So BYOB bring your own book. We'll be there probably a little
- 1:07:18bit before 7 get settled in a game of things starts maybe like
- 1:07:217/10, 7:15 Eastern. So we'll.
- 1:07:23Get you got to get there early. There's stuff we we got to
- 1:07:26write. Look, you got to write your line
- 1:07:27up in. You got to, we got to talk
- 1:07:30number positions for those who aren't familiar with like
- 1:07:33there's a number associated to each position.
- 1:07:36Hopefully you know that, but it's OK if you don't.
- 1:07:38But we got to get your line up in, you got to have all of that
- 1:07:41stuff kind of ready to go before first pitch.
- 1:07:45So we'll be on a little earlier just to make sure everything's
- 1:07:48in order. Yeah.
- 1:07:49So maybe we hop on a little earlier, run through the the
- 1:07:53need to nose and then we're just going to get right into it.
- 1:07:58Bingo. I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:08:00Yeah. Anything else?
- 1:08:02Oh, I know you wanted to. You wanted to remind me to play.
- 1:08:06Yes. Oh yeah, yeah, yes, yeah.
- 1:08:10Oh, the. This is a separate thing, I
- 1:08:12know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:13Well, I'll go first real quick follow us on TikTok been trying
- 1:08:19to crank out more content on TikTok now that you know it's
- 1:08:23sticking around for the foreseeable future.
- 1:08:25Who knows? But while we have it going to be
- 1:08:28posting some some things in there.
- 1:08:30Some of the videos make their way to Instagram elsewhere, but
- 1:08:33some of them don't I'll be honest with you.
- 1:08:35Not all of them do You can see me.
- 1:08:38I'll tell you one video that's not on there.
- 1:08:40You can see me with hair following running from.
- 1:08:48That was nuts. Running.
- 1:08:49I was on my lunch. Rain.
- 1:08:51I was running. Yeah, running from pouring down
- 1:08:53rain to my car so I could make a quick little video about Paul
- 1:08:56Skeens. Did you go back into the office
- 1:08:59looking that way? No, I had to sort of iron it out
- 1:09:01a little bit, you know, do the whole hand shuffle, Sure, but
- 1:09:06yeah, you can see that on there. That's not going to be anywhere
- 1:09:08else except TikTok. So, you know, I haven't I
- 1:09:10haven't plugged that. And you had the good idea
- 1:09:12earlier to drop a little plug for that second go hit us up on
- 1:09:15TikTok. Yeah.
- 1:09:17What do you got? No, mine was weird.
- 1:09:19Dude this is just weird. I have you heard about the whole
- 1:09:22Real ID thing with flying? Yes.
- 1:09:25And it's like an absolute debacle right now because people
- 1:09:28think they have an updated ID, but they don't because it
- 1:09:30doesn't have that little star, right?
- 1:09:34Well, it made me think because I had my lineup set yesterday and
- 1:09:38for those who aren't following this team probably didn't even
- 1:09:41notice this or this specific player.
- 1:09:43Yandi Diaz is on the restricted list at the moment because his
- 1:09:49passport wasn't updated when the Rays were going to Tampa or
- 1:09:54excuse me, to Toronto, so he couldn't go with the team number
- 1:09:59one. I don't understand.
- 1:10:01The whole ID thing is like, let's how many like plug in the
- 1:10:08Nate Burgazi bit where he talks about his name on his ID not
- 1:10:13matching his ticket. Not like all of this stuff.
- 1:10:16Like that's what it feels like for traveling right now, but for
- 1:10:20a Major League Baseball team and and a professional athlete, like
- 1:10:24for this not to be buttoned up ready to go for to just do the
- 1:10:28bare minimum of flying on a private plane into another
- 1:10:33country. It's just ridiculous.
- 1:10:35Don't these teams have like travelling, like travel?
- 1:10:38Agents, they have like travel. Managers.
- 1:10:40Yeah. Travel.
- 1:10:41Managers, that's what. Travel What are we doing?
- 1:10:44Travel secretaries are. That's an actual job.
- 1:10:47That is an actual job that every organization has.
- 1:10:53Pretty embarrassing. I was about to whip out my real
- 1:10:57ID and show you, but I didn't want to put my government
- 1:11:00information out on the. Screen not the the best call I I
- 1:11:03have. It's good foresight.
