- 0:05SPEAKER_01: It is season three.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: Season four.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: No.

- 0:09SPEAKER_01: It's season four.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: It's been so long since we've done this.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: I thought it was season three?
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: It we took a while.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: We did take a while.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: We took all summer and then some.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: You can blame Hannan for the second half of the them sum.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:23SPEAKER_02: I've been really busy, like with uh honestly, it's weirdly strange at work.
- 0:27SPEAKER_02: Like busy.
- 0:27SPEAKER_02: I'm never I'm always busy, but it's just there's a lot going on.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: However, we're back.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: How was your summer?
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: My summer was great.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: Lena went MIA for like seven weeks.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Seven weeks, yes.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna talk about what everybody did this summer, right?
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: So Lena went to Palestine.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I went to what did you do?
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: I got invisilign.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I can see that.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: I got invisalign.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: What did you say it is?
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: It's like what?
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's like wearing spanks in your teeth.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: Literally.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: You know, when you know when you go to a like uh you have like a gathering or like a party or like an event and you want to wear like a really fitted dress, you put spanks on underneath.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: I feel like I'm wearing anymore.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: I just don't care.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: It's so like constricting or constrictive, whatever the word is.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: Sometimes I just don't like want my my stomach to be hanging out, you know.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: That's fine, but I'm just like, I I can't do that to myself anymore.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: I feel like sometimes yes, yeah.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: I mean, honestly, I'm all about like the comfortable clothes right now.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: Forget that.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: And you know what?
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: When all else fails, I just put on a Palestinian thobe and you're gonna go.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Like that hides everything.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: It literally hides everything.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: So you're busy with work.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: I'm busy with work.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: I did get a tattoo.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: I got a tattoo.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: It's not like a forever tattoo for all the haters out there, and even if it was, don't be a hater.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: Temporary.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: Appreciate it or don't.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: Temporary.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: You're so funny.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: She's not gonna get it.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: I won't let her get a permanent.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: It's one to three years.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's a lot.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like getting your eyebrows micro-bladed.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: We can talk about that.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I yeah, I think I might be able to do that.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: But the studios that sell it's like a proprietary ink, it's called Ephemeral.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: My sister's actually the one who put me on it.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: They just closed all their studios and they're gonna focus actually on something really cool on selling their ink to existing tattoo studios and then to the Henry Ford Foundation for like cancer patients.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: So this is how you reason the situation.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: No, I just thought it was I just no, I just really like it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: We can add a zoomed-in picture of this.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: We're not adding any zoom in the picture.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: We are so adding zoom in the show.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: We're not promoting uh getting tattoos.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Why are we not promoting getting tattoos?
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, it it's okay as long as it's not permanent.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: I'm okay with that.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Okay, anyway, moving on.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna agree on this.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: No, we're not.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Uh Felestine.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: How was it?
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Felestine was amazing.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: It was beautiful, but also very sad.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: I know, I can imagine.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like it's never been this bad.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Like in terms of, you know, just uh freedom of movement and like you know, the situation uh there is just it it's getting worse in terms of safety.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: And uh, you know, the attack on Janine happened while we were there, which was scary, which was uh crazy, yeah.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: But overall, uh we had a great time with family.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: The kids just loved it, they didn't want to come back.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: That's awesome, you know.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: Um, and it was very emotional too, because like their grandparents haven't seen them for like what seven, seven years, no, five years, seven years, six years.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Wow, six years, yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: The last time we went was 2017.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: That's like my homecoming.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: When I went to Egypt in December, I hadn't been back in 13 years.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Oh wow, that's intense.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: I mean, I wanted to go earlier, but like the whole COVID situation.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I am you know easier, you know?
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Uh traveling there was a nightmare.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was actually easier going there than coming back.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: I'm surprised because what didn't didn't they like change the law on your way back?
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: No, I still had my ticket booked through Jordan, but that's not the issue.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: The issue is like getting there is such a hassle, you know.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: You have to go through the border between Jordan and Fallestine and all that stuff.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: And it's just by the time you get home, you don't even look like yourself.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: I can't imagine making this trip like on the regular.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's hard.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, and then and like like I said, it was great.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Like the kids loved it, seeing family, just like every day something's happening there, even with all the problems.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Like you're with family, you're doing stuff, you're going out at night.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Like, it's just it's and I did my makeup every day there while I was there, which is shocking, right?
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Because you can't, you know how the Arab world is.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: You can't just show up in sweats and a t-shirt.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: You could depending on where you're going.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but still, you can't do that, you know.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Um, they ate a lot of ruqab ice cream, if anyone knows, best Palestinian ice cream, knafa.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Good for them.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: Um, lots of shawarma.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Of course, lots of shawarma.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, it was uh it was good.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: We went we went to a few places, but because I have a Palestinian passport, I was restricted to the area that yes comes to.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: So what happened when they passed that um uh memorandum of understanding or whatever between the US because you know um Israel wants to be part of the visa of the United States.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: I was not that it's called the memorandum of understanding.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: I'm like, did we not understand before?
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: Let me tell you though.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: So we tried before because that happened after I went in.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: So they didn't give me a visa on my American passport and they didn't give me a permit.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: So I had to go through this whole ordeal.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: I had to download this Israeli app on my phone and I had to register my USB.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: It's good for you for doing that, though.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Yes, and then all these people are like, oh, you're gonna don't download their app.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: I'm like, listen guys, I'm downloading their app and I'm gonna go through the process because I really want to take the kids to uh Jerusalem.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, goods.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: Like, I can't like not go.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: You're all the way there already.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: The problem with it though is by the time the app recognized my US passport, it was like eight days had passed.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: It's okay.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: And I literally had four days left in Palestine.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: And then once that gets in there, then you can apply on the app, and then they give you the permit.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: They gave me like a three-month permit.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: So basically it's similar to a visa.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: And then I took them to, we went to Jerusalem.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Like my mom was there, so we took her with us.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: We got to pray.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: Amazing, like what an amazing experience.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and so work that after.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and like my mom, because she came after that like policy, so she got a visa, she didn't have to go through all this.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, there's still a lot of problems with the program, though.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of people.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: But this is way better than where we work.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: True, but like they still have a lot of like a lot to go, you know.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Um, and then uh, like I said, we went to Jerusalem, uh, and then we ended up also going to Yafa the next day.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: I've never been.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: I've never been.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: You've been to Yafa.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: I've been to Yafa.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this was my first time.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: It's beautiful.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: And then my mom's like, oh, I took you.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't remember.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: You don't remember when I took you.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but the thing is, I'm like, yeah, but for me, it's the first time because you clearly took me when I was like two or three.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: It's like you don't have memories.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: It's very different as an adult.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: Isn't it such a beautiful city?
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: And there's a come with it.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: She's like, oh hell no.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: She's like, I really did ill code.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: She's like, that's a bit much.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: I can't.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: She's like, I don't want to go.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: It's also like a lot of walking.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and like, you know, the drive up there and whatever.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Um, but uh yeah, and then like my sister-in-law, who was born and raised in Palestine, this was her first time going to Jerusalem.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Isn't that cool?
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: I was shocked.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: Like, we I found that out when we were, I'm like, what?
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Because she we we all went together.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Think about it.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: How else is she gonna go?
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: She's like, yeah, she's like, I, you know, she got married, she left.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: And then before, like, there's no because she she's originally from Nablus area, right?
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and so she never ended up going because you know, they always have closures, you know, there's no uh like free access movement, you know, free movement to go.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: So this was her first time.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: And she I think that that's amazing when people tell me that.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my goodness.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Like it's sad though, like you're gonna be able to do it.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: It's sad, but at the same time, but she made it.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: But she made it on the positive.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she made it, which is wonderful.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like think about it like this your kids got to do something that a lot of people don't have the chance to do.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: I mean, last time I did too.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: I took them last time.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: Jerusalem is such a beautiful city because of the the like the way that the like it's just like you look at like you know, the culture, the the religions, the uh just like you know, it's it's just this mix of like culture and religion, and it's such a rich, beautiful city.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: It's got a different kind of vibe.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: It's really, really, really nice.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I loved it.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: And what's funny is like we get there, right?
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: And so we we got there like way before the Hur prayer, which is the afternoon.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Like midday.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: They got there before midday.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: And so we're sitting there, we're waiting, and it was like packed because there's a lot of people there like traveling from overseas, and they come and like there's a lot of like Arab Americans, and like just you know the cool thing about Jerusalem is you will find people from like all walks of life, yeah, yeah.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: All over the world.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: So we're sitting there, we're waiting for it for the event to happen.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: We pray the hur.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: And then I see everyone's like, oh, they're standing up again.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, what are we praying now?
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: You know, like, oh, he's gonna ismah, you know, like combine the prayers.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because he's traveling for Asir.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like for Asir prayer.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, this is great.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: He saved me the time.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: So here I am thinking, we're gonna pray for Rakat, right?
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: This guy on the second sujood, when you prostrate, he says salam alaykum.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, what just happened?
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: Like, wait a minute.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: I'm a little confused.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, combining the prayers is one thing, but like shortening the prayer by half, I'm like, and then they're like, oh, it's because and there's like I'm like, I'm fine with it, but I never finished what I had to say.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: It was like, like, have you ever had that?
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: No.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: But then like they were like they were explaining to me, oh, there's a way you can do it.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: And I'm just like So here's the thing like I love when people say that.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: I'm like, you know what?
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: I'm just like a go with the flow type person.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: This is how we're praying today.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I'm in.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: If the Imam of Al-Aksa Mosque wants to do that, sign me right up.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: He probably, he probably, so when you travel, you can combine the prayers because you like don't know when to do it.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he shortened it.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: He shortened it too.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: I was like, by the way.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: Guys, if somebody has heard of that, please like comment.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: And let us know.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: Because I've never heard of people shortening it.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: Well, my brother was telling me after he's like, Yeah, you know, they can like there's this technicality.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: I'm like, hey, man, I'm not complaining.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: I was just not ready.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: I was ready to get up for that third time.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: I I don't know if I'm like it's not so much complaining.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: I would just like to understand.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: Well, I'm not complaining.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: No, no, I'm not complaining.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, great.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: He saved us the but it's good.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: At least you got that.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: And the kids, they they just love it.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: And then Raya would buy, like my daughter would buy uh a misbaha in every city she went to, every little town, you know.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: So that's the one thing we always had to get.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Um that is those are like the equivalent of like prayer beads.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Like, yep, they're prayer beads like versary beads.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so she has one from every every place.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: And then we also went to Al Khalil, okay, which is Hebron.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: Hebron, yeah.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Okay, getting there was oh my god, because Al Khalil, technically, you can get to it without a without a visa or something.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: But the roads that we have to use, like there's a sp like I don't know if it's called Wadin Nod or something, the valley of fire.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: It is kind of scary.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: No, dude, like it took us forever to get there, and like you're on this like mountain, and the roads can I tell you that I have a friend uh who had a very similar experience driving around.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: She's just like Oh, the driving, it just she sends me video, she's like, We're gonna die.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're gonna die, you know, but it's not even about that.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: This road is just dangerous.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like getting there is dangerous because we're not allowed to use the the Israeli roads.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: The regular roads.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're not allowed to use it.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: We have like roads designated for Palestinians, okay?
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: I have so many comments, but what's that about?
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: This is neither the time nor place.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: So we went there and it's such a like it's such a big city.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it's really nice, but like it's sad because when you go to the old city in Hebron, like like I would say 80 to to not 85% of the stores are closed, like the shops, because of you know, the uh the Israeli settlers there, like constantly being bombarded and attacked and whatever.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: So there's not like it's sad because you go to the mosque there and it's there's not a lot of people.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, and like do like I said, there's no freedom of movement.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: So not many.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Life under occupation.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: That's what Lina's describing.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: It's not pleasant.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: No, and then I have like I have pictures, like I'll put them in, like whatever we're talking about, like really nice pictures, you know.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Um, but like the prayer was great.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: Uh I have you saw you saw the hijabi picture I posted, right?
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: Let me show it to you again because you said I look like what, Albanian or Turkish?
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: She really did.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: It's really interesting.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: I think it's the way that she has her um, she has her scarf tied.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: She really does look like Albanian or Turkish.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: And I think it's that's the cool thing about Lena.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: Lena, yeah, Lena, she looks super Turkish.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Super Turkish.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Lena's just like ethnically ambiguous.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, if I wasn't worried about the whole DNA situation, I would totally do a DNA test.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Why are you worried about the DNA test?
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: No, man.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: I want people having my stuff.
- 12:25unknown: Weirdo.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: You would do it.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: They have your stuff already.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: Oh shut up, Hannan.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna make it easier for them though.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: They have your stuff.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I'll post the stuff.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: You know, there was this meme that I saw the other day, and I was like, uh and I was like, that would so be me.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: It said, you know, hey, the government is gonna, you know, start inserting chips in us, and all I'm thinking is, I hope I get Doritos.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: You're so messed up.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: That's just so messed up.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Um, so yeah, we did that.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Uh, the prayer there, and you know, just like the security there is sad.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Like, I have a picture of that, I like to show you.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: It's like really hard.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: Look, look at this.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: Life under occupation.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: Look at this.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: This is just to get into the Yeah.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know what you were expecting.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, but it's like it's heartbreaking.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: Like he shouldn't.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: Look at all these shops that are closed.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Look at this, look at that.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: Look at all the shops that are closed.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: Yes, but life under occupation.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: This is what it this is life under occupation.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I'm glad like the kids got to see this, you know, firsthand.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: And then we also went to uh Bethlehem.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because Baddie really wanted, like, my son really wanted to go see because he's like a history buff.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: He loves that stuff.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: So we went to the church.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Uh like I wish I had more time because like I like I love she had seven weeks and goes.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: I wish I had more time.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: No, no, but that's the thing, though.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Like we traveled, we picked Saturday for a reason.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: Okay, because that's the Sabbath, right?
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and a lot of you know, Israeli settlers don't come out and it's less dangerous.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm not trying to be hateful, but it is, it's less dangerous.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: And literally the next day, there was a problem, there was an attack, right?
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: So we went on a Saturday.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: You know, you don't want to be out at night because that's when cars get attacked, you know.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: So you have to think about it.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: And I have like kids with me, like I have to be responsible.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Like, I can't underoccupate.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: Again, so you have to factor all these things in, you know.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: Uh so like I just loved like the history.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: And and so next year are you gonna take them somewhere else?
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: Somewhere elsewhere.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Like besides like now that you guys they did their like pilgrimage to Palestine, right?
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, it's not a pilgrimage.
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: It is no no no no.
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: This is a pilgrimage for them because they've never been to any of these places, so it's huge, right?
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Well, Khalil, they've never been, they've been to to Jerusalem.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: Not at they haven't been to you guys don't know, Lena has twins, so boy and a girl, they're both 13.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: So this is a very like it's an age where kids like remember everything, which is why like I took my kids to Egypt this year because I'm like they're they're 14 and 8 at the time, and now they're 15 and almost nine.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: But um, they can remember, you know, they like make memories and see things, but I feel like we should do that with other places.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: But it's been it's been so long, and because you know, uh well, there's the family aspect, yeah.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Because they, you know, my husband's family is overseas, so they have to see them too.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: So you kind of gotta, it's been si six years, so you should probably take them.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: Um we did Nablus also, which was, you know, Nablus.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: Nablus is always full of really good soap.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: And uh Knaff.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: Um and then Yafa was literally two days before we left.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: Yafa's amazing.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: They have really good seafood.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, really good seafood.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: But we went to this, uh, it's called the Ajus al Bahar.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Al Ajuz al-Bahar.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Something like that.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: The the oh my god, I gotta show you.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Hold on.
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: The the seafood there is like unreal.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: And then they have this beautiful, like, it's not a boardwalk, but it's like a just along the beach, a walk along the beach.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you went when you came to visit for a side.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: And it's it's so beautiful and it's so scenic.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: This is just this is just the like the stuff they put appetized before you even order from.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's like traditional.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Like my kids were so like impressed by this.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: And then every time, like something like you finish it, they come and next.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: And they finish it.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: I've experienced this, they have it.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Their mind was blown.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: They're like, oh my god.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, you know, and I'm like, you're gonna get full before you get the main.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: That that's like me the first time I went to Korean barbecue.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was like the same thing.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: They put all this stuff down on the table, and then you're like, Oh, but I didn't order this.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: They're like, No, it comes with your food.
- 16:15SPEAKER_02: They look at you like you like get it together.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, like Yafa was amazing.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: We had um my brother got us this uh driver to stay with us.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right, it's another.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And this guy was hilarious.
- 16:28SPEAKER_02: As hilarious as the guy who forgot Mahmoud and I when we went to Yafa?
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: No, no, this guy, it's like he claims he's been to YAFA.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then I'm like, dude, at the end, I'm like, I'm pulling up my GPS.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: Because honestly, sometimes that's like the best thing about like the Middle East, is people are like, don't worry, I got you.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: And you're like, no, when somebody says that to you, you know they don't got you.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: The thing is he has uh a yellow plate number.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Yellow plate numbers means it's an Israeli plate number.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: So you have uh you can move around easily, even though we had permits and visas, doesn't matter, it's just easier because you can't, you're not allowed to drive.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: If you have a Palestinian uh green plate, you're not allowed to drive.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: You're not allowed to drive there.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: So we had to get this guy, right?
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and he's not cheap either.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: So I at the at a certain point, I'm like, I'm done.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I'm taking over.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I'm like, I can't keep wasting time.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: You're like, this is too much for me.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: This is where you need to take us, right?
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: So uh after we went to the beach, the kids like got into the water a little bit and we did all that stuff.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: We're like, we want to eat.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm like, but before, like, and then like once we once we got to Yafah, like it was Dhur prayer, you know.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, there's like one of the oldest masjids there, right?
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: I'm like, let's just go.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: Let's go to the mosque and pray.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Like, that's what it all means to do.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: I pray, and because I'm traveling, I did both prayers together, right?
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: So this guy's like, oh, I gotta pray Asir, like the the driver.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, I'm he's not traveling, so yeah.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: So I was like, I was like, no, he technically is.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: He doesn't live in Yafir.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, he's not from Yafir.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I was like, listen, why don't you, Ishma, why don't you combine the prayers?
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: And then he's like, oh, and then he he goes quiet for like a good minute, and then he says, he says to me, I'm gonna say it in Arabic and then you can translate.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: He's like, Tabiani, and I looked at him, I knew exactly what I was saying.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: So basically he's like, he's like, no, no, no, no.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: But never mind.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's like, he's like, you know, he's like, no offense, but never mind, never mind.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna say that he stopped.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: And I knew where he was going.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Can you guess?
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: No, I know after I told him about the prayer.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: I have no idea.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: Okay, so he says, I'm gonna say it in Arabic, he says, um, yeah, I'm like, I was like, tell, please tell me, no, don't worry about it.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: Just tell me what what you're thinking.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: And he says, Well, yeah, if you're is an inti but salli, oh my god.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: He basically tells her, so like if you pray, why don't you just like you know, like essentially like wear hijab.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: Wear hijab like cover your hair.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and in that situation, I'm like, inshallah, inshallah.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Like, what are you gonna what are you gonna say, right?
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: I'm like, Allah.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: I would be like, it's none of your business.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it's like that's how that's how like you're not you like that's not how they are overseas.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: Like they feel they could comment about everything.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: Of course they are, yeah.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, I went to order pizza.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: This is another hilarious story.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: I went to order pizza.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: We remember this.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we walk to the place, me and my uh daughter and her friend.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: So we walk over, and because like the delivery phone, I couldn't figure it out.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, it's okay, I'll just we'll go over there.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: And I'm ordering the pizza to go, and I order, I'm like, give me six uh soda cans, six sprites.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: And he says to me, Why?
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I just want Sprite to go.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: And then he's like, but there's only three of you.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: Like, how dare she order six cans of sprites?
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, Yeah, but I want some for later.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: I want to keep it at home.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: And he's like, la la la la.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: He's like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: He's like, you don't need this.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: He's like, you know what?
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: What you need is two liter.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: And he's like, But I don't want a two-liter.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, it's and he's like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: He's like, it's cheaper for you.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: And you should definitely, I'm like, you know what?
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: I'm not arguing.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: I'm like, just give me whatever you want to give me.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: But they feel the need to like say, no, no, but why?
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: But you know, honestly, it's it's like this everywhere in the Middle East.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: Like, I remember like many moons ago, I stopped a cab driver in Cairo to take me to the hair salon's going to blow up my hair.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: And he goes, like, basically, like, you can just walk.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: Like, why are you stopping me?
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: And I'm just like, Do you not want to make money today?
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: And he goes, Halas, halas.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: Don't be upset.
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: Like, get in the car, I'll take you.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: I was like, I don't want to get in the car.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Like the comment, like, and he was, it comes from a good place, like the soda guy.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: The other guy, whatever.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: But even the soda guy, it's like, okay, thanks for trying to save me money.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: But like, can you just make the need to know?
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: Is huge there.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: The need to know, like, here you no one would ever oh, why are you getting six soda cans?
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: Like, you can just no one would say that.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: No one would even ask you, no one would even bat an eyelash about why you're getting six soda.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: You just order what you want and you move on.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: But there, no, it's like, no, no, no.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: But you you you know what I mean?
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: It's like it's funny, it's funny, right?
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't know if funny is the right word.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: But Yafa, I have to go back.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Like it, I just didn't spend enough time.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: It's it's a beautiful city.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: It's beautiful.
- 21:02SPEAKER_02: We spent a whole day there.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: That's what that's all that we had.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: We spent a day and it was a good one.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I wish I had more time.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: I wish I had more time to do that.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking next time when I go, if this visa situation is still happening, then I'll just rent a car and like because you know the roads there.
- 21:19unknown: I would not do that.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no, no.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: It's fine, it's easy.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: There's GPS.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: It's the problem is when you're in the Palestinian section and I love I love my Palestinian peeps, but dude, the driving is insane.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Is it like that, in Asia?
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: The driving is terrible.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: I feel like you have to read half of the Quran the entire time you're in the car.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Because you're gonna like something's gonna happen to you.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: You know, honestly, especially in Cairo, like when I was there in December, I just like closed my eyes and I'm like, inshallah, we'll make it.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: And then you get to like downtown, and then there's so much traffic, you're only going like five miles an hour.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: You can't even if you have an accident.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: And then there's even if you have an accident as well.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Um, I had so all in all, it was nice.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: It was great.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: It was great.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: I got to meet my my friends.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: That's nice.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: We got to have like a mini reunion.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: There was like what five or six of us?
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: And we had like 20 kids in between us.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: We brought them all to lunch with us.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: You saw the pictures.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: That was great.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: And I actually posted something from the from the lunch.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: What else did we do?
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Like the cat situation there.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: Is it like that in Egypt?
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: So many strays.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's cats everywhere.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: It's like that in Egypt.
- 22:31SPEAKER_02: It's like that in Turkey.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: It's everywhere.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but we ended up like having seven before we left.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Like around the house.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: Like me and Raya would feed them.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: There's like seven.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: By the time my brother and his family came back, they had like ten.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: See?
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's it's okay.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: So breakfast, lunch, and dinner for them.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: And like every time every time Raya saw them once like, oh okay.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: I'm like, we can't.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: I'm like, we have like already seven.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: That we're feeding on a regular basis.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: Every time you see a cat, you just can't, you know, you can't do that.
- 22:59SPEAKER_02: But it's because she had a cat, so yeah.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: Do you have any questions for me?
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: No, I mean we ate a lot of good food here.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was my whole thing.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: It's like there's so much good food.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: Yes, a lot of good food.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, there's a lot of great places, but the best food is in Al Biran Amala area.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: I don't care what anybody the best food, the best service.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: Okay, guys, come for her in the comments, okay?
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't have to be able to do her in the comments.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: Come for her in the comments.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: This was recommended by who?
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: People who went there.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: Come for her in the comments.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: No, and I had a I had a thing or two to say.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: But like, I'm just like, come on, man.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Like, really, you're gonna let it just you can't.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: There's no comparison.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: I mean, like, I went to Betlahem.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: I message a friend at work who's from Betlahem.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're like, What can I do?
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Is this?
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: Maybe, maybe if Lena wasn't such a food snob, this wouldn't be her life.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: I am.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: I I mean, I'll admit it, but like the best food.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: We went to this place in Birze that was beautiful.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: Uh it's uh owned by this lady.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: Like the kind it's just a traditional Palestinian home.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 24:10SPEAKER_02: What's her name, do you know?
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: I can't I can't remember, but look, it's you know, she uses like an old uh house.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, pop that in so you guys can see it.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then like going in, you don't see you don't think it's a restaurant.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: It looks like a house.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: Like it's just a house, you know, and in this beautiful, beautiful um uh the way she has it, like traditional decor.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: Like you go into the rooms and she has like the upstairs rooms.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Uh it's like more seating.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: But then also, like she has in one of the rooms, like um how a room would look like like a hundred years ago.
- 24:43SPEAKER_02: So it's like so it's a restaurant and like a little museum.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: Museum.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Like the food was awesome.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: So it's an experience.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then the msachan, like I'll post a picture of the msachhan is really nice too.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: Like that's what Raya ordered.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: It's all homemade, it's all like you know, all done there.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Uh no shortcuts.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: That's all the way Palestinian food is meant to be cooked, you know.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: And this is what it's called.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: Is it noraj al-Bit al Falastina?
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's in Birzaid.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: So if you guys are ever there, you know.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: And then the knaf is always awesome.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: There's something to be said also for like knafa Krishna.
- 25:17SPEAKER_02: So I'm just gonna.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, I okay.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: No, no, but in Palestine, you gotta eat the naama, dude.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: My only problem is that it has to be hot.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: This is this is hot, yeah.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: This is hot.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: It's not hot anymore.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: No, no, you have to eat it there.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: So like Ryan wanted um knafa the last night before we left, and then I'm like, oh, just go, like I was telling my brother, I'm like, just go get it.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: He's like, no.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: No, you have to go eat it.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we gotta be there.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: He's like, there's nothing worse than eating cold knap.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: I 100% agree by the way.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: Um so basically, you guys towards you eight.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: You ate a lot.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: But you know what?
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: I I only gained like two pounds while I was there.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: Like the food there is just it's not like also moving.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: I'm also moving, but I didn't really need to move.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: It was hot.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: Like, we didn't leave the house.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: You're sweating your food out.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: That's what's happening.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: Maybe, maybe that's what it is.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Um, we got to spend eight there, which is amazing, which was awesome for the kids, finally, you know.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Something different.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Um, I just have some of the stuff I went.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: We had the khutbah for my niece.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: Which is amazing.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: We had a situation with a flat tire.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: We were already running late, and then my sister's driving.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: Inneapolis, trying to make it.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: I didn't know she was driving.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like like her husband's like, Oh, you can drive.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: I'm like, listen, I can if there's nobody else to drive.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I'm like, I'm not putting my I'm not putting my life around.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: My sister's like, I'm driving.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: So we get there, and she's like in this tiny little car that was a rental, and there's like three in the back, I'm in the front.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: Raya's obviously on someone's lap in the back.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, like forget about like safety and all that, and forget about it.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: She's speeding through Nablus, and then like this taxi driver comes back and he's like honking his own.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: She's like, What do you want?
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: Like, she's like, she's about to fight.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: She's like, Yeah, because we're so late.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: She's about to fight him, and he's like, You have a flat tire.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: She's just speeding.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: So I was like, Okay.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: I'm like, and then we're following another person ahead of us.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, it was just Yeah, I'm exhausted just listening to this.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and so I tell my niece in the back, I'm like, call the like your brother in the other car, tell them to wait.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: And then my sister pulls off right away into this parking area.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: It was so quick.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: Like the whole thing happened in less than a minute.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: We park it there.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: The the car up front had enough room for all of this because it was like a big car.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: We park it there, we pay for the parking, and there's we're all in like in thobes and like dresses and gold and all this stuff.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: And people are staring at us, like, what is I swear?
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: My car broke down.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: I gotta get to where I'm going.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: The whole thing from finding out we had a flat tire to good getting to the next car was less than a minute.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Like it was like I'm I was saying, I'm like, no offense, but had there been a man in the car with us, it would have been like an hour ordeal.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: We did this in less than a minute.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Well, I think so, but no, because no, no, no, no, no, because you're not.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: No, we just left it.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: That's that's the difference.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: You didn't change it, you just abandoned the mark.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: We'll come back to it.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: We don't have time.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, but my point is not to hate on guys.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: No, seriously.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: My point is they would have had something to say, oh my god, oh, we should do this.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: No, let's not waste time.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: We don't need it right now.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: We can't.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's I don't think it's about guy or no, no.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: I think it's just about Lena and her sister decided to abandon the car.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: No, we didn't, oh my god, this is a good thing.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: We didn't abandon it, we handled the situation.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: We're just like, you know what?
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: No, we handled it.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: We'll get back for you when we're we handled the situation.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, anyway, there's a lot about Palestine that I can say, but it was an amazing trip.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: My kids loved it, they didn't want to come back.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: That's amazing.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: The only thing I have to say is coming back through Istanbul.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, we went through Istanbul Airport and coming back.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: I don't like that airport.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: No, but it's also like a reasonable airport learning.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: It's not about busy.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: It's not about busy.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Like we had like a five and a half hour layover, which is fine.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: We went to the lounge, we chilled.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: They never bothered to tell us that the flight is delayed.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's three hours sitting, and then they they cordon you off, like they put you into this section, and the security is insane.
- 29:01SPEAKER_01: Three times.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: And like I kid you not, from here to there.
- 29:04SPEAKER_01: That's not their fault.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: That is your final destination.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: I know, I know that.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: But I'm like, and then they you stay here, and then if you want to go out, you have to do it.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: Traveling in in this day and age is such a freaking hassle.
- 29:17SPEAKER_02: No, it's it's not traveling in this day and age, it's traveling during the summer.
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: I like firmly believe in like post-COVID.
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, I firmly believe post-COVID people are like there is a thing.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: It's like I was reading an article about it, and it's so true.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: Revenge traveling.
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: Anyone who's like never traveled a day in their life is like out and about and going places, and it's insanity.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: I mean, we had a situation with the passports, the kids' passports almost didn't show up.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: And when I and it's and it's crazy because it's like mostly like Americans who are doing this, like they're yeah, it it's nuts.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: So I do really think you were probably a victim of revenge traveling.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: That's that's the the thing is though, like I think it's not just me, it's not my experience, it's not just Istanbul Airport.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: I think everywhere, like this summer, was disastrous for everybody.
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: Like, not my point exactly about revenge.
- 30:00SPEAKER_02: Revenge traveling.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Not a single, not a single person whose travel that I spoke with hasn't been delayed or hasn't had a situation.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: That's everybody, you know, and and I'm hoping it's just a one-time thing, but man, it's I have a friend um who traveled to Copenhagen last summer with his family, and they like lost all their bags.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: See, I just it's I mean, alhamdulillah, at least that's what I always I'm like, Alhamdulillah, at least I didn't lose any of the bags, you know, like that's a good thing.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: And alhamdulillah, like listen, I had a friend last summer who was traveling on a direct flight from here from like Washington, DC metro area to Cairo International Airport, and her daughter still lost her bag.
- 30:37SPEAKER_02: How is that even possible?
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 30:39SPEAKER_02: I I honestly like I really do think uh we know last summer too, there was the or last year or something.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: There was also like the um the uh the strikes that he'd throw.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 30:49SPEAKER_02: Where there was just like hundreds of thousands of bags that were just like, you know, just left in rotten dye.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Have you ever experienced like I I ex like I noticed something that they do in uh in the Turkish airport where if you're like once we arrived, like going there, we we had like a couple hours to go.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: And so we got we got the Wi-Fi and whatever, and we're sitting.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: We we go to this gate area, and then they come and they're like, Do you have a like is your are you flying from this?
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: I'm like, no, we're just sitting.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: Because there was no one else, there's nowhere else to sit.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, we were too far away.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: And I'm and I'm like, I was in the area where we're gonna leave, but it wasn't like my gate yet.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: And look, no, you need to leave.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: This is only for passengers who are leaving from this.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: And I and I I guess that's a policy they have.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: Maybe, yeah.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: Because what I noticed later on is they go and they check to each person.
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: Maybe, maybe this is just their way of ensuring that like at least the people who are glued to the city.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: But it is a big ass airport, yeah, have a place to you know sit or whatever.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: I honestly think like with again, revenge travel.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay, like everybody is out to like fly and go places.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: I really think these airport employees are like doing their best.
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think some of them have probably just given up and they like hate their lives, and I totally don't blame them.
- 32:01SPEAKER_02: But I can I can see that being a good idea.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, like, and then I was telling my brother, my brother's like, you know what?
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: It's this like he he loves going to Turkey, so he's like, no, it's just you know, this he said what you said.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: He's like, the destination is America, they have to be extra careful.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: But honestly, it's like that in every airport with it.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: Well, like everywhere I've flown out of where the desk final destination is the United States, yeah, the security.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what he was telling.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what he was telling.
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: Like, it's different in Germany, it's different in France, it's different in Egypt.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: It's every airport I've ever been in.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: It's just hard.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Listen, I was telling the kids, I'm like, listen, whatever you do in your life, make sure you make enough money to fly business class at least.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: I can't be doing this coach stuff anymore.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: I'm just like, I am, dude, I was so tired.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: I don't want to sound like an entitled person, but like I mean, shut up.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, I would I was so tired, Hanan.
- 32:47SPEAKER_01: I'd sleep and I'm like, oh, two or three hours pass by.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: It was like two minutes.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: 20 minutes.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: 20.
- 32:52SPEAKER_02: But can I easily tell you that has nothing to do with like flying business or flying anything else?
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: I flew on one of the nicest, like in in those like little suites in an airplane for a 14-hour flight.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: And you still struggled.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: I still couldn't sleep.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, wow.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: Like I watched like 1800 movies.
- 33:11unknown: Yeah.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: I they were like, Do you want to wear the pajamas?
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: I was like, no, I'm I'm good.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: I don't want to wear any pajamas.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: I just want somebody to knock me over the head and put me to bed.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: Didn't work out.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: Could not sleep.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: It's hard, dude.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: It's hard, especially when when you have that long of a layover and then you have a three-hour delay on top of that.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: Like you're already exhausted before you even set foot on the plane, you know?
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, alhamdulillah it was good.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: Can't complain.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: I did want to mention my brother who was there.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Never let me pay anything.
- 33:40SPEAKER_02: That's normal.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: He was like, oh my god, he let me pay for anything.
- 33:42SPEAKER_02: I'm like, why are you complaining?
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: I'm not complaining, but like, you know, and then one time I did the the go behind his back and pay.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: And oh my god, he was so upset at me.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: He was so mad.
- 33:55SPEAKER_01: And then and then I was talking to my husband.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: My husband was like, you know, he's an Arab man at the end of the day.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: Like over there, and he's your older brother.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: And he's like, He's your brother.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: He's like, I would never let my sisters pay.
- 34:04SPEAKER_02: And he's like, older brother.
- 34:06SPEAKER_02: He's not just her brother, he was a big brother.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: But it was an older brother.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: Did I tell you about the thing where we we were at my in-laws' house, we went back to my brother's house, he was out, and I completely forgot that they have cameras around the house, right?
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: So I was telling the kids, I'm like, because they wanted to go have ice cream.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: And it was like nine o'clock at night or something.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: It was this is just such a it's so insane.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: It's funny.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: So I call a cab.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: Okay, because also he wouldn't give me a cab number.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: He's like, You don't need a cab, you can just call me and I can take you wherever you need to go.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: So I was like, no, I have to.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: So I finally got a cab from on Facebook.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: I'm like, finally, like something close enough.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: I can call them, they can come.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: So I call a cab company.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: I just call them so he can go get you for the freaking ice cream.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: Anyway, he's not home.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I told the kids, I'm like, if he's not home, we'll just take a cab.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: So he wasn't home.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: I didn't want to bother him.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: I'm like, whatever.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: So I call a cab, and then my phone was connected to the Wi-Fi from the house.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: So I didn't switch it back to like roaming where you have whatever.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: I completely forgot.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: So I'm waiting for the cab.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: He was trying to call me because he saw me on the cameras on his phone, trying to stop me from wherever I was gonna go because he'll change, he'll take me, right?
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: So I didn't get his calls.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: We get in the cab, and the cab was so late.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: So we were just hanging out there for like 10 minutes in front of the house.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: He meanwhile, he's trying to call me.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: So we get in a cab finally.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: We like take us to rookab ice cream and Ramallah, the guy takes us.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: Then finally, I connect my Wi-Fi to the to the store to the ice cream place, and then I had like three missed calls.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what's going on?
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: He's like, I know where you're at.
- 35:39unknown: I'm like, what?
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: I was able to.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: He's like, why would you not let me take it in ice cream?
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: The reason I was because I don't want him to keep like he was it was like literally nonstop.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's okay.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm visiting.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so he's like, he's like, I know where you're at, and I'm coming there.
- 35:52unknown: And I'm like, okay.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: It's like it's fine.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: I'm just eating ice cream.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: He comes, he comes, and then he's and then his wife was with him.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: She's like, girl, you don't even know what happened.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what happened?
