- 0:06Speaker 1: All right, thanks for joining us in have you today?
- 0:08Speaker 1: We are still here at Good Things in Brisbane and we've.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Got the guys from Wargasm. Thanks for joining us today.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:16Speaker 1: So I've got to admit, guys, I initially requested this
- 0:19Speaker 1: interview just based on the bad name, which is absolutely sensation,
- 0:22Speaker 1: and then I started checking you out and listening to
- 0:24Speaker 1: music and use it way more than just sex and
- 0:27Speaker 1: violence as a name, Like your music is fucking awesome. Guy.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I just really liked it.
- 0:31Speaker 3: I really liked it.
- 0:33Speaker 1: So it's just like just over an hour and hour
- 0:35Speaker 1: before your last show of the chordue.
- 0:38Speaker 2: So how's it been now?
- 0:39Speaker 1: And how is Melbourne?
- 0:39Speaker 2: How was Sydney?
- 0:40Speaker 4: Melbourne and Sydney were both pretty great. To be honest,
- 0:44Speaker 4: I didn't really know what to expect, but we find
- 0:46Speaker 4: a lot of similarities between the UK crowd and the
- 0:48Speaker 4: Australian crowd.
- 0:49Speaker 2: You know, I agree, I agree, I could.
- 0:54Speaker 4: In our Brisbane headline the hall part went ten seconds
- 0:58Speaker 4: after we walked on stage, which was a good, a
- 1:00Speaker 4: good humbling way to start the Australian.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Tur This is our last show of the year.
- 1:03Speaker 4: This is our last show of the year until January,
- 1:06Speaker 4: until January.
- 1:07Speaker 2: When it starts a good yeah, awesome, that means you've.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Got to go nuts.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean we can go nuts. Yesterday I think
- 1:13Speaker 5: I don't know you guys use Celsius or fahrenheits. Someone
- 1:17Speaker 5: said it was forty three degrees on stage when we
- 1:19Speaker 5: were playing, which is like pretty not good for the
- 1:22Speaker 5: body when you're.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Trying to get oxygen in ya know what I mean.
- 1:27Speaker 5: It's a scene or go rah or whatever we do.
- 1:30Speaker 5: So that was pretty pretty pretty fucked. But today it's
- 1:34Speaker 5: a lot colder or cooler, more mild, and our stage
- 1:39Speaker 5: is shaded, so I don't see anything that's stopping us.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Perfect concoction for our final show.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Honestly, like it's our first time in Australia and for
- 1:50Speaker 5: your country is really cool and I really like the
- 1:52Speaker 5: people here, so it's pretty honored to play the last
- 1:55Speaker 5: show of the year here and hopefully if there's any
- 1:57Speaker 5: Wargasm fans that have been waiting for us to visit,
- 2:01Speaker 5: hopefully we get to kick ass for them.
- 2:03Speaker 2: There is absolutely lots of wall games.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I don't know.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Just because it's so far away and our schedule is
- 2:09Speaker 5: always mental, I don't know when we'll be back. So
- 2:11Speaker 5: we have to we have to do it right first time.
- 2:13Speaker 5: It just least we have to just one hundred percenticular
- 2:16Speaker 5: boxes and that that means I'm expecting the energy from
- 2:19Speaker 5: them as well. Yeah, we both have to. Just it's
- 2:20Speaker 5: that's our first time, in our last time. Get it
- 2:22Speaker 5: fucking right, and we're gonna it's gonna be sick.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, good, and get back soon as well.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it's quick.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I'll try always.
- 2:28Speaker 5: I've been announcing on stage and we're back next year.
- 2:30Speaker 5: I have no idea if that's true.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I guess, I guess. I guess you'll make the promoter
- 2:36Speaker 3: look look like they're wrong, not me.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I've got a microphone, so I can't be wrong, right, Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I'm going right.
- 2:45Speaker 1: So this is your first trip to try it, like
- 2:47Speaker 1: you say, like it is everything you expected, Like you
- 2:49Speaker 1: go to a country for the first time. You hear
- 2:51Speaker 1: things from people and stuff, but you don't really know,
- 2:53Speaker 1: you know, like it everything was precked up to me.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Honestly, I was kind of dreading it only because we've
- 2:58Speaker 4: been on tour and you for a month before this,
- 3:02Speaker 4: and European winter and Australian summer are very different, and
- 3:06Speaker 4: I was just a little bit scared about the whiplash,
- 3:08Speaker 4: a little bit scared about belongedlide. But it has been wonderful. Actually, yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 4: it's been really nice.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I find the people.
- 3:17Speaker 5: I find the people both very literal and very poetic
- 3:20Speaker 5: at the same time. You know, sometimes when you guys
- 3:22Speaker 5: tell a story, it's got I think, instead of going
- 3:25Speaker 5: like I'm in the middle of a story, or like
- 3:28Speaker 5: hmm or stuttering, I think you guys throw like a
- 3:31Speaker 5: million analogies in yeah, which leads to some bizarre sentences.
- 3:35Speaker 5: But it's it's quite it's quite cool, and then very
- 3:37Speaker 5: literal when something needs to sorting out. So that's that.
- 3:40Speaker 5: I didn't expect that, but I guess it totally makes
- 3:42Speaker 5: sense now, like being around the country and see how
- 3:45Speaker 5: it operates. But yeah, it kind of was what I expected.
- 3:48Speaker 5: I was just covered in snakes and I had to
- 3:51Speaker 5: didn't go, so that was kind of cool.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Pretty good.
- 3:55Speaker 5: I think everyone's my friend. I don't know if they'll
- 3:57Speaker 5: let me take him on stage, but.
- 3:59Speaker 4: To dry God loves a tryer.
- 4:03Speaker 6: You guys, you do a lot of collapse. There's a
- 4:06Speaker 6: lot of you know, really really awesome collapse. You've had
- 4:11Speaker 6: Corey Taylor, Fred Durst and a Chicari and really sick ship,
- 4:14Speaker 6: really seeks stuff.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Is there. I'm not going to say a favorite.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Let's not do favorites, but is there a standout that
- 4:20Speaker 6: you had a really good time with somebody that was
- 4:22Speaker 6: just really.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Dope to work with.
- 4:24Speaker 4: I feel like the Fred one might be my favorite,
- 4:27Speaker 4: just because I remember when he sent so he did.
- 4:29Speaker 5: His and it was the first collabor Yeah, it was.
- 4:33Speaker 5: It was the first big collab we done, so you
- 4:35Speaker 5: already had definitely yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Yeah, we.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Are lots of very talented friends.
- 4:42Speaker 2: What can I say?
- 4:43Speaker 4: But Fred sent over his bits because he'd done them
- 4:45Speaker 4: remotely in a different studio, send them over, and I was,
- 4:48Speaker 4: I was, and I was, Yeah that was That was
- 4:55Speaker 4: a that was a pretty good defining moment, you know.
- 4:58Speaker 5: I think for me, like and like, it's horrible to
- 5:00Speaker 5: pick favorites because everything's different, But the Pendulum Collapse was
- 5:05Speaker 5: interesting just because that's a sound that I totally love
- 5:09Speaker 5: and respect. It's like right up my street is like
- 5:12Speaker 5: right up my street for like the direction I want
- 5:14Speaker 5: to head in and watching Rob dor is thing.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It's kind of kind of strange, you know, because he's
- 5:20Speaker 3: like kind of.
- 5:20Speaker 5: Chill in the studio and I'm kind of like, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 5: but I don't know.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I feel like we've really connected, you know.
- 5:29Speaker 5: I mean obviously we really connected because he comes on
- 5:31Speaker 5: the stage of us, and we go on stage of him,
- 5:33Speaker 5: and we will hang out at the pub, so that
- 5:35Speaker 5: that probably means you're connected. But just like his way
- 5:37Speaker 5: of working, like it's got that really cool synth line
- 5:40Speaker 5: in it, but that wasn't in there when we left
- 5:41Speaker 5: a session. That's his brain adding that. So I'm like, oh,
- 5:45Speaker 5: this is why he makes the big butts. That's the
- 5:48Speaker 5: fucking moment you know, Yeah, he does. He just has
- 5:51Speaker 5: these moments that he throws in. So for me as
- 5:54Speaker 5: a songwriter, I was like, that's why can I want
- 5:57Speaker 5: to know how to do that? That was cool being
- 5:58Speaker 5: inside the process, you know, see him behind the cart I.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Appreciate that's awesome to be sharing.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's nice. But is there a collab coming? Can
- 6:10Speaker 2: we give a scoop? Is there something?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Do we?
- 6:13Speaker 5: Uh? There's not, there's not yet, but there's a I
- 6:15Speaker 5: mean we're always working on like bumming around studios in
- 6:18Speaker 5: central London, so anything, Yeah, anything can happen.
- 6:21Speaker 3: What's your share? Is your share collab.
- 6:25Speaker 2: She's still alive studio, Well, there you go.
- 6:29Speaker 3: I know I'd like to.
- 6:31Speaker 5: There's there's like a wish list, you know, we'd have
- 6:33Speaker 5: to like reco nasty fucking Mickey Minaj would be mental
- 6:37Speaker 5: over you know, yeah, just because like the way she
- 6:40Speaker 5: interacts with Carne or Monster, I'd be like, yo, what
- 6:42Speaker 5: about that?
- 6:43Speaker 2: But with guitar, Yeah, with a bit of aggression.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah, so there's those stuff. Robbie Williams would be cool.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be sick.
- 6:50Speaker 5: But then there's some my friends in the in the
- 6:52Speaker 5: rock scene that we're always talking to.
- 6:54Speaker 3: There's always there's.
- 6:55Speaker 5: A bunch of us who like funk around with beats
- 6:58Speaker 5: and stuff that we're always sending each other different like
- 7:01Speaker 5: drop box forward its Yeah, you never know what's going
- 7:03Speaker 5: to come back.
- 7:04Speaker 3: It's awesome.
- 7:05Speaker 2: So it's possible. Oh yeah yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Watching three film CITs last night, I think it is
- 7:10Speaker 1: a song called Vigilantes. There's a line flashes up that
- 7:13Speaker 1: says angry music for sad people, Like, is that like
- 7:17Speaker 1: a mantra of yours?
- 7:18Speaker 2: If I love it?
- 7:19Speaker 3: About it?
- 7:20Speaker 2: Well, because I mean it's right if you're angry, I
- 7:23Speaker 2: mean angry to ship.
- 7:24Speaker 5: It's but it's it's yeah, it's a manta because it's
- 7:28Speaker 5: about because I'm quite an angry person, which is not
- 7:32Speaker 5: always cool, but it's it's it's about anger being a
- 7:35Speaker 5: valid energy when like channeled in the right way.
- 7:37Speaker 3: You know, being disappointed and maybe yourself in a day.
- 7:40Speaker 5: Can lead to betterment and things like that. And you know,
- 7:44Speaker 5: also sometimes when people are something something to feature you
- 7:47Speaker 5: and you feel a bit like bummed down, maybe anger
- 7:49Speaker 5: is the way to get out of that hole.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Maybe it's like fuck it on climbing. Yeah, you know
- 7:53Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 7:53Speaker 5: So that's that angry songs sad people is just kind
- 7:56Speaker 5: of what it felt like we were created. I feel
- 7:58Speaker 5: like when we first met, we kind of sets as
- 8:01Speaker 5: like the monus, like you know, like the brief for
- 8:04Speaker 5: the dissertation or whatever. We're like, let's do that, let's
- 8:07Speaker 5: work towards it. And you know, sometimes when you write
- 8:09Speaker 5: in a track, you're like, if it doesn't fit that brief,
- 8:11Speaker 5: maybe it's not for war gas and maybe it goes
- 8:13Speaker 5: in the to sell to someone else pile.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah is that fair?
- 8:17Speaker 1: Yeah? Perfect, It's way And listen to three music guys
- 8:21Speaker 1: like it's an eclectic mix of their stretching guitars, there's
- 8:24Speaker 1: dance floor beats, there's a lot of aggression, there's great harmony.
- 8:27Speaker 1: It's like on paper that shouldn't work, Like if you
- 8:30Speaker 1: guys make it work?
- 8:31Speaker 2: Like is it trial and error? Is it good writing?
- 8:35Speaker 2: Is it like chemistry?
- 8:36Speaker 4: Like it's a big blender called our brains and we
- 8:40Speaker 4: just shove everything into the world. Yeah, a lot of
- 8:44Speaker 4: trial and error. Sometimes I'll throw ideas that maybe are
- 8:47Speaker 4: a bit left field, that shouldn't exactly go with what
- 8:50Speaker 4: we've started with. But then in the end we always
- 8:53Speaker 4: find a way to shove the pieces together exactly.
- 8:58Speaker 5: But you were just saying that on paper it didn't work.
- 9:00Speaker 5: But like you know, I'm from London. London's punk as
- 9:03Speaker 5: fuck and punk punk is a punk fashion is an
- 9:07Speaker 5: ugly fashion, you know what I mean. But look how
- 9:10Speaker 5: influential and how exciting this still is. Sometimes you shud
- 9:13Speaker 5: things together that are ugly and don't work, but that's
- 9:16Speaker 5: that's it.
- 9:17Speaker 4: We don't always want beautiful fish started. Somebody said in
- 9:21Speaker 4: ten years there going to be one of the best
- 9:22Speaker 4: pop bands in the world. Someone would have said on paper,
- 9:25Speaker 4: that shouldn't work, but it fucking does.
- 9:33Speaker 2: So again, you know, mixing rock and electronica. It's it's
- 9:36Speaker 2: not anything, but it's definitely next level. You really do.
- 9:41Speaker 3: There's a song that I love, bad Scene.
- 9:44Speaker 2: It just holped mees man, It hooked me in straight up.
- 9:49Speaker 2: It's got big fat riffs. Yeah, yeah, that's that's what
- 9:54Speaker 2: it is is. There was there a particular influence on
- 9:58Speaker 2: that track that what youre there liked it. Why, I
- 10:03Speaker 2: don't know. It just feels a bit different for me.
- 10:05Speaker 5: I was I was writing for another artist and I
- 10:08Speaker 5: wrote that for another artist and then they just didn't
- 10:11Speaker 5: get back to me.
- 10:12Speaker 3: And then Milky was like, give me that, and then
- 10:15Speaker 3: Milki really took the reins.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I wanted to rip off Kubla Khan and put a
- 10:20Speaker 4: good bitch in a song because I feel like people
- 10:23Speaker 4: are saying, I'm gonna I'm gonna find that, we're gonna
- 10:26Speaker 4: tell them that I ripped them off to I love that.
- 10:31Speaker 4: I just feel like a well placed bitch is like very.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Spar is very one.
- 10:38Speaker 4: It's right, spars and songs now days and answer, we
- 10:40Speaker 4: need to bring it back. So I took a little
- 10:42Speaker 4: bit Kubla Khan energy there and put the bitch in there.
- 10:45Speaker 5: So there's a bunch of shit done for the new album,
- 10:47Speaker 5: and there is like some way more like fucked that
- 10:49Speaker 5: idiot new metal.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I love that.
- 10:52Speaker 3: It's like really dumb like that. Sometimes I'm so cool,
- 10:56Speaker 3: don't don't no big, no clever, just fun.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Do we have a scoop on release day?
- 11:02Speaker 5: And yeah, well when we fly back, it's Milky's birthday tomorrow,
- 11:06Speaker 5: we fly back.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Happy birthday, Milky got back And I don't know.
- 11:15Speaker 5: Which is cool?
- 11:16Speaker 3: And then I'm forcing Milk into the studio for a week.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Christmas, let's go.
- 11:23Speaker 3: That's my Christmas present being at a desk.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so what's what do you?
- 11:31Speaker 6: What do you dislike out of all of this, out
- 11:33Speaker 6: of this whole life once the touring doing your dislike
- 11:36Speaker 6: I love it's.
- 11:38Speaker 3: The same thing every day, Yeah, the same thing. It's
- 11:40Speaker 3: I mean like luckily our band tolerates me changing the.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Set list to me. So it's a remix tonight, earn it?
- 11:47Speaker 2: You have half an hour? Yeah quick?
- 11:48Speaker 4: You know.
- 11:49Speaker 5: But the thing I like about I don't like hate touring.
- 11:51Speaker 5: I just like doing the same thing every day doesn't
- 11:54Speaker 5: work for my like the kind of spicy that I've
- 11:56Speaker 5: gone in my brain, but in the studio you walk
- 11:58Speaker 5: in like you walk in with different people and like
- 12:01Speaker 5: anything can fucking happen. Every day is different. I've never
- 12:04Speaker 5: had two days the same in the studio and I've
- 12:05Speaker 5: been doing this for like a decade.
- 12:07Speaker 4: I enjoy touring because you get to perform on stage
- 12:09Speaker 4: every day, but I dislike it because I have to
- 12:11Speaker 4: leave all my stuff behind. And I love my stuff,
- 12:15Speaker 4: all my records and my CDs and my books and
- 12:17Speaker 4: my random things that I've amassed over the years of touring.
- 12:20Speaker 4: I hate leaving my ship behind.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's hot and cold. That's hard. Yeah, sorry, I.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Missed my radio.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I have so much stuff.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I bore you. I know.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I had to leave it. I had to leave it
- 12:31Speaker 4: in the lock up because I couldn't bring it to Australia.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I've got to bring out one.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Locky if we can.
- 12:37Speaker 2: All right, as much, we don't want to wind you guys,
- 12:39Speaker 2: but how the people do want to appreciate it.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Thanks very much, it very much.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Appreciate you guys, very much. Thank you absolutely.
- 13:02Speaker 6: A lot of.
- 13:05Speaker 5: A lot, so no what so much joy you'll mis
- 13:10Speaker 5: you tee.
- 13:11Speaker 4: I want to feel that my
- 13:13Speaker 5: Soul, my toil, black time, just my you mile betweets
- 13:20Speaker 5: I never found so
