- 0:00Have you seen the press release about the Ethiopian
- 0:02Executive Leadership Training Program delegation
- 0:04from the government of the Federal Democratic
- 0:06Republic of Ethiopia, received by His Excellency
- 0:10Saeed Mohamed Al -Tayr, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity
- 0:14and Water Authority, at Al -Ashira, the Authority's
- 0:18headquarters? Yes, I did. It took place within
- 0:21the UAE Government Experience Exchange Programme,
- 0:24which aims to foster cooperation and the exchange
- 0:27of expertise and knowledge across all sectors.
- 0:30The delegation was briefed on the Authority's
- 0:33leading practices and initiatives and its global
- 0:36achievements in electricity, water, sustainability,
- 0:40innovation, digital transformation and customer
- 0:43service, plus its approaches to governance, corporate
- 0:46excellence and the management of major projects.
- 0:49What impressed me were the numbers. The authority
- 0:52ranks first globally across 13 key performance
- 0:55indicators, outperforming major utilities in
- 0:58the European Union and the United States. Dubai
- 1:02has recorded the world's lowest customer minutes
- 1:04lost at just 0 .82 minutes, approximately 49
- 1:08seconds, per customer annually, compared to about
- 1:1215 minutes for major European electricity utilities.
- 1:15And the losses are remarkable too. Electricity
- 1:19transmission and distribution losses stand at
- 1:22just 2%, the lowest rate globally, well below
- 1:26the global average of 6 -7%, while water network
- 1:29losses stand at 4 .4%, compared to about 15 %
- 1:34in North America. His Excellency emphasised that
- 1:37hosting the delegation reflects international
- 1:39confidence in the Authority's pioneering experience
- 1:42and embodies the UAE's commitment to strengthening
- 1:45government partnerships and building leadership
- 1:48capabilities. He said, knowledge exchange is
- 1:51a fundamental pillar of sustainable development
- 1:54and enhanced joint government action. He also
- 1:57highlighted the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
- 2:00Solar Park, the world's largest single -site
- 2:03solar park, expected to exceed 8 ,000 megawatts
- 2:06by 2030. Its fourth phase holds four Guinness
- 2:10World Records. the world's tallest concentrated
- 2:13solar power tower at 263 .126 meters, the largest
- 2:19thermal energy storage capacity at 5 ,907 megawatt
- 2:24hours, and the largest single -operator concentrated
- 2:27solar power plant at 700 megawatts. Correct.
- 2:31And there is the 250 -megawatt Hata Pumped Storage
- 2:34Hydroelectric Power Plant, the first project
- 2:37of its kind in the GCC. with an energy storage
- 2:40capacity of 1 ,500 megawatt hours. A genuine
- 2:45global benchmark, guided by the vision and directives
- 2:49of the wise leadership, and a strong reflection
- 2:51of Dubai and the UAE's position as a global hub
- 2:55for sharing best practices. Indeed, a partnership
- 2:59built on knowledge exchange, exactly as His Excellency
- 3:03described.
