Let's get started by talking about who Killian and Bape is.
• 1:59
Killian and Bape is a French soccer player who was born on
• 2:02
December 20th, 1998 in a town called Bondi, close to Paris,
• 2:08
France. He started playing soccer when
• 2:10
he was just a little kid. His father was a soccer coach
• 2:14
and his mother was a former handball player, so sports were
• 2:17
a big part of his life from the very beginning.
• 2:20
By the time he was a teenager, everyone could see that Killian
• 2:24
was a special player. He could run faster than most
• 2:27
adults and scored lots of goals even when playing with older
• 2:30
kids. Now let's talk about him,
• 2:33
Bapaya's early career and his first big record.
• 2:36
At just 16 years old, Mbappe made his professional debut for
• 2:40
a French team called AS Monaco. He became the youngest first
• 2:44
team player in Monaco's history. That means he played his very
• 2:48
first professional game at a younger age than any other
• 2:51
player who had ever played for the team before.
• 2:54
Imagine getting to play with your favorite team before even
• 2:57
finishing high school. But that was just the beginning.
• 3:01
Mbappe quickly became famous for his amazing speed and skill.
• 3:05
He helped AS Monaco in the French league called League One
• 3:09
in 2017. He was a big reason Monaco won
• 3:13
the championship that year, scoring lots of goals and making
• 3:17
great passes to his teammates. Did you know that Killian Mbappe
• 3:21
scored five goals in a single game in 2023?
• 3:24
That's extremely rare in professional soccer, where
• 3:27
scoring even one or two goals is a big deal.
• 3:31
After his success with Monaco, Mbappe moved to one of the
• 3:35
biggest soccer clubs in the world, Paris Saint Germain, or
• 3:39
PSG for short. At PSG, he continued breaking
• 3:43
records. In 2018, Mbappe became the
• 3:47
youngest French player ever to score a goal in a World Cup.
• 3:50
He was just 19 years old. The World Cup is the biggest
• 3:54
soccer tournament in the world, held every four years.
• 3:58
Scoring in a World Cup match is a dream for any soccer player,
• 4:02
and Mbappe did it before he turned 20.
• 4:05
Let's pause for a trivia question.
• 4:08
Which French city is famous for the Eiffel Tower and is also
• 4:11
where PSG, the team Mbappe played for, is based?
• 4:19
The answer is Paris. PSG stands for Paris Saint
• 4:23
Germain and Paris is known all over the world for its beautiful
• 4:26
landmarks. Now back to Mbappe S records.
• 4:31
In the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Mbappe did something even more
• 4:36
incredible. He scored four goals in the
• 4:38
tournament and helped France win the World Cup.
• 4:42
He was named the best young player of the tournament.
• 4:45
He also became only the second teenager in history to score a
• 4:48
goal in a World Cup final. The first was Pele, who did it
• 4:53
in 1958. By the time Umbape was in his
• 4:56
early 20s, he had already won several French league titles,
• 5:00
many top scorer awards, and had scored over 100 goals for PSG.
• 5:05
In fact, by 2023, Umbape became PSG's all time leading scorer.
• 5:12
That means he scored more goals for PSG than any other player in
• 5:15
the club's history, breaking a record that had stood for years.
• 5:19
Here's another Did you know moment.
• 5:22
Did you know that Mbappe is also known for his top speed during a
• 5:26
game? He's been clocked running at
• 5:28
over 36 kilometers per hour. That's faster than most people
• 5:32
can ride a bicycle. Mbappe's success didn't stop
• 5:36
with PSG. He also achieved a lot playing
• 5:39
for the French national team. In 2021, he helped France win
• 5:44
the UEFA Nations League, another big international tournament.
• 5:48
He scored the winning goal in the final match against Spain.
• 5:51
