- 1:58that you gave to the FBI on September twenty fourth,
- 2:01twenty twenty one. It's batesmart EFTA zero one two four

- 2:54not sworn Backner. Yeah, it's just not sworn, miss Tolan. Okay,
- 2:59thank you. Question and then we'll give you a second
- 3:02to review. Answer. Okay, you want me to read the
- 3:04whole entire thing. Question You don't have to read it,
- 3:07if you remember, I have some specific questions that I
- 3:10can point you to answer, questions that you can guide me.
- 3:15Question Yeah, if you would like me to begin answer
- 3:18uh huh. Question. So on page two, you state that
- 3:22mister Epstein would give you a call list of who
- 3:24you were supposed to or of who he wanted to
- 3:27see and have appointments with. I think we've already discussed
- 3:32that in length. But you would receive that daily. Is
- 3:35that correct? And then make appointments accordingly. Answer yes. Question.
- 3:39On page two, you mentioned that you were responsible for
- 3:41making all phone calls, including calling the chef and the driver.
- 3:45Is that accurate? Answer yes, question What would you coordinate
- 3:50with each of them about? Answer the driver for when
- 3:53mister Epstein wanted to be picked up and where he
- 3:55was supposed to be picked up. Give the driver an
- 3:57address for when he wanted to leave the house and
- 4:00be sure to be outside and ready to go that
- 4:02type of thing. The chef would be if he wanted
- 4:05his chef to bring lunch over to the office, or
- 4:08it could be that he, you know, whatever he wanted
- 4:10for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and just coordinate that with
- 4:13the chef to make sure that he's ready at the
- 4:14right time with whatever it is mister Epstein wanted to eat.
- 4:19Question and were those conversations happening daily? Answer? Oh, yes question.
- 4:24And on page three you mentioned that you would coordinate
- 4:27with the pilots of mister Epstein's plane. Is that correct?
- 4:30Answer yes, question. What would you coordinate with the pilots about?
- 4:34Answer the time that he wanted to leave, the day
- 4:38you wanted to leave. Usually that would be that would
- 4:40be it. Question would you inform the pilots about guess
- 4:43mister Epstein was bringing on his plane? Answer yes, that
- 4:47could be possible to about who was going to be
- 4:49traveling on the flight? Question and were those frequent communications
- 4:53as well with the pilots answer, I mean yes, it
- 4:57would be whenever he was going to be traveling. Question
- 5:00and then on page three you also mentioned you'd coordinate
- 5:04or you would schedule business meetings architects and designers. Is
- 5:07that also correct? Answer? Yes? Question what would you coordinate
- 5:12with each of them? About? Answer? Well, to business meetings,
- 5:16it was just all his associates that I would coordinate
- 5:18meetings with, be at his office or at his home.
- 5:21Architects are recall buying tickets for them to fly in.
- 5:24They would provide architectural plans. Mister Epstein never seemed to
- 5:28be satisfied with any of the architects and the designers.
- 5:31They would come and visit them. I would make appointments
- 5:34with them, possibly buy the marror travel as well, and
- 5:37just coordinate phone calls with all these people as well.
- 5:40Question and just again, so the record's clear, we've talked
- 5:44about your role in scheduling business meetings a lot of
- 5:48different times today, is your testimony that you did not
- 5:51have any knowledge about the purpose of what went on
- 5:53in each of those meetings? Answer that is correct. Question
- 5:57you just scheduled. Answer merely skeed world correct Brignac. In
- 6:02your opening statement, I believe you said something to the
- 6:05effect of you were thrust into the lives of the
- 6:07rich and famous. But your testimony is sounded like you
- 6:11were kept at an arm's length and that this was
- 6:13very humdrum work, not as exciting as you said it was.
- 6:17Can you help clarify my confusion, Miss Groff. Sure, it
- 6:21was exciting just to know that you're talking to these
- 6:23people's offices. I was not friends, but it's more exciting
- 6:28than just speaking to, you know, the neighbor or the
- 6:30regular businessmen. They were all very important people, you know.
- 6:33It was exciting. Even though I had no real relationship
- 6:36with these people, it was still it was better than
- 6:38just working at your average accounting office and speaking to,
- 6:41you know, a bunch of accountants. Nothing wrong with accountants.
- 6:44I just mean these were movie producers, you know, record producers, businessmen,
- 6:49Wall Street businessmen, government people. You know. It was not
- 6:52normal Poland question and you mentioned on page eight that
- 6:56mister Epstein would tell you to find a trader on
- 6:58a few occasions. Is that correct answer? I'm sorry? Page
- 7:02a answer? Yeah, question or answer? Okay, where are you? Question?
- 7:07It should be near the top of the page. You
- 7:09mentioned Epstein asking you to find a trader. Answer, Oh,
- 7:13I think this is about a certain incident. Just bear
- 7:15with me one second. Yeah, I recall one time mister
- 7:18Epstein wanted to make a trade and it was something
- 7:21if you know about trading things, stocks move and every
- 7:24second matters, and I believe that I recall him calling
- 7:28and telling me to get this person on the phone.
- 7:30In my head, I was like, why is he not
- 7:33just calling the person if it's so important that it
- 7:35gets done. You know, right away the stock's going to move,
- 7:38and I felt I remember I had to find the
- 7:40phone number for the trader, and you know, that was it. It
- 7:44was just one of those incidents. Yeah, that was nerve
- 7:46wracking for me. Question just a one time occurrence. Answer.
- 7:50I definitely remember that one occurrence. I'm not saying I
- 7:53didn't connect them to a trader. Another time. Question and
- 7:57then a few quick questions. You mentioned it briefly about
- 8:00how exciting. The work was did you enjoy working as
- 8:03an assistant or secretary apologies for mister Epstein. Answer? I
- 8:08did at the time, Miss Brignat, Can you elaborate growth.
- 8:12It was exciting, it was challenging, It was super super busy.
- 8:16It was not like a regular a regular job as
- 8:18an assistant. It was just haear on fire, lots of commotion.
- 8:22People own islands and airplanes and homes and other parts
- 8:25of the world. It was exciting, just not like a
- 8:28regular job. Question and how did mister Epstein treat you
- 8:32or how did he treat you as a boss? Answer?
- 8:35As my boss, he was professional. He did not get
- 8:37close to me. If you asked him, I bet he
- 8:39would say that he didn't even know my husband's name
- 8:42or my son's name. It was not that kind of relationship.
- 8:45He would demand no mistakes. But I liked the challenge.
- 8:49I did get in trouble at times. But I also
- 8:51felt like I was good at coordinating and managing his
- 8:53phones and calling people and organizing his day, and I
- 8:57felt value from that. But we were not friends. He
- 9:00did not socialize. I did not see him outside of work,
- 9:03and it was all on purpose. Question and you mentioned
- 9:06it just then and in your opening statement as well,
- 9:09an instance where a mistake was made and he put
- 9:11you on probation. I believe you turned it. Can you
- 9:13explain what that was? Answer? So, yeah, they had told
- 9:17me that I should not socialize with anybody that he
- 9:19spoke to. They're friends for not my friends. I didn't
- 9:22get invited to a party and I went with my
- 9:25husband and he found out the next day. And I
- 9:27definitely was more than just a reprimand it was very scary.
- 9:30He was very powerful. He had this aura around them.
- 9:34You sat up straight whenever he would talk or walk
- 9:36into the office. Miss Brignac, What did it mean if
- 9:40you were put on probation? Growth on probation? I think
- 9:43it was for a month, and you know, if I
- 9:45made any other errors, I would get fired Toland. Question
- 9:49were you not working for the month that you were
- 9:51put on probation? Answer? No, I was there. I was working, yeah,
- 9:54and being very careful. Question what did probation mean then? Answer?
- 9:58I think he was just watching for if I made errors,
- 10:01I would get fired. Question and during your time working
- 10:05for mister Epstein, was Miss Maxwell? Was she ever in
- 10:08a supervisory role to you? Did you ever work under her?
- 10:11Answer I did not work under her. Question what did
- 10:15you understand her role to be? Answer? I thought she
- 10:18was the office manager. Question and how did she act
- 10:20towards you and the other staff? Answer? She was cordial,
- 10:23she was professional. We really didn't interract much. When she
- 10:26would come into the office, she would sweep through, sit
- 10:29at her desk. She had an assistant. I didn't report
- 10:32to her, Miss Brignac. Question who answered to Miss Maxwell? Question? Oh,
- 10:37who is miss Maxwell's assistant? Answer? Oh, sorry, it changed
- 10:40over time. It was first redacted, and then it was
- 10:43I'm sorry redacted. No was it redacted? I'm sorry, I'm
- 10:46drawing a blank after redacted? Yes, redacted moved back to
- 10:50be her assistant, and we hired a new receptionist. Question
- 10:54how long did you work with redacted? Answer? She was
- 10:58let go when he went to jail. So into the
- 10:59thousand and nine question why answer, we had to downsize
- 11:03the office. Others were also let go. Question who else?
- 11:08Answer redacted? Who was the attorney's assistant at the time?
- 11:11I believe it was redacted who was a receptionist? And
- 11:14that might have been That might have been it. Question
- 11:18did you hear why they were let gos specifically. Answer,
- 11:21it was just that they were downsizing the office and
- 11:23it wasn't going to be that busy. Question in your
- 11:26role as secretary for mister Epstein, did you ever work
- 11:29alongside Richard Kahn? Answer no. Question. Did you ever conduct
- 11:33work or assist Richard Kahn with his accounting operations? Answer
- 11:37no question. Did you ever work alongside Darren Endyke Answer
- 11:42I did a short period of time when he was
- 11:44in jail. Yes. Question What was your position working for him?
- 11:48Answer assistant? Question and what were you helping him with? Answer?
- 11:52Filing calls, making his calls, connecting him to people who
- 11:55was not nearly as exciting. Question and what time period
- 11:59was that? Answer that was about two thousand and nine.
- 12:03It was when he went to jail, and then after
- 12:05he was released. I was still working a little bit
- 12:07for mister Endyke, but then he did get an assistant himself.
- 12:11Question and you mentioned traveling assistance of mister Epstein throughout
- 12:14the course of today's interview. Do you know who those
- 12:18traveling assistants were? Answer? Yes, Do you want me to
- 12:22tell you their names? Question? If you know them, please
- 12:26answer sure. When I first started it was redacted and
- 12:28then it was Sarah and she stayed for a long time.
- 12:32Then there was redacted, redacted or redacted or redacted and redacted.
- 12:36Those are the ones that come to my mind. Question, okay,
- 12:40thank you. And out of all those employees, was there
- 12:43any office gossip about him going to jail or any
- 12:45speculation about his affinity for young women or girls? Ms Groff. No,
