- 0:01Speaker 1: Well, I was telling you how the other day I
- 0:02Speaker 1: went to Costco and I had a cart full of candy,
- 0:07Speaker 1: was getting my Halloween candy, and they had a display
- 0:11Speaker 1: for Dubai chocolate, which I grabbed three bags of it.
- 0:18Speaker 2: According to Wikipedia, it is a style of chocolate with
- 0:25Speaker 2: pistachio cream inside.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Of it and then like a chopped it's almost like
- 0:30Speaker 1: a kit kat. It kind of has a little flaky,
- 0:34Speaker 1: crunchy taste to it.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Chopped filo pastry.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And so I was telling you guys about it, and
- 0:41Speaker 1: I thought, Okay, next time I go to Costco, I'll
- 0:45Speaker 1: get another bag and bring it in. Now, I happened
- 0:47Speaker 1: to be at Costco again yesterday, and so I went
- 0:52Speaker 1: to the area where I had got it just a
- 0:54Speaker 1: couple days before, and it was gone. Now, Carrie, you said,
- 0:59Speaker 1: Sue went and got some.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, she went and got.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Three bags apparently, so maybe it was, but there was
- 1:06Speaker 4: only didn't run into each other, honestly.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Only a couple of days before there was a huge
- 1:12Speaker 1: display of it.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Oh that shows you the power of radio.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I think the people are doing what I did, which
- 1:18Speaker 1: is as soon as you see it, because you're worried
- 1:20Speaker 1: it's going to go away, you buy a bunch of it.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So I was going to bring a whole bag in today.
- 1:27Speaker 1: So I want you guys to know that I dipped
- 1:29Speaker 1: into my own stash of do buy chocolate to bring you.
- 1:34Speaker 3: A taste of it today?
- 1:35Speaker 2: What this is? What? What's the difference between doing that
- 1:39Speaker 2: and buying another bag?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Because I would have bought another bag to bring in
- 1:44Speaker 1: here so I didn't have to use any of my
- 1:46Speaker 1: own stash that I had, because it doesn't it's not
- 1:50Speaker 1: always available.
- 1:51Speaker 2: If that makes you sound awfully greedy, you know greedy.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I brought you a gift of chocolate.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Thank you. It's delicious.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Did you try it last night?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Oh?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah, well we've had you've had it before.
- 2:04Speaker 3: But Bill, is this the first time you've.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Heard Yeah, I've never I've I've never had it's it's
- 2:09Speaker 2: it's different than it's certainly different than any chocolate you
- 2:13Speaker 2: could just go in and buy at a grocery store. Yeah,
- 2:17Speaker 2: you know it's it's Uh, I'm not, I won't, I
- 2:20Speaker 2: won't fall I'm course, I'm not a big candy person.
- 2:23Speaker 3: So but you you're not going to run to Costco?
- 2:27Speaker 2: No, No, I won't. If someone offers me some Dubai chocolate. Again,
- 2:32Speaker 2: if you dip into your own stash.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Just know. But we were talking about how when you
- 2:38Speaker 1: go to Costco you can't always count on them having
- 2:42Speaker 1: everything all the time.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Yeah, man, I'm not. I've never been quite clear why
- 2:46Speaker 2: that happens. Why they suddenly stopped carrying something that you
- 2:51Speaker 2: bought for a long time there and then it's gone.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Well, it's delicious and and I think it's the power
- 3:02Speaker 2: of radio that you talked about it on the radio
- 3:05Speaker 2: and everybody went to Costco.
- 3:07Speaker 3: But these are two These can't be Halloween candy. You can't.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Kids won't appreciate thing.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Oh they might, they might go, oh this is so good.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I don't want any of this other junk. I mean
- 3:20Speaker 2: it really, it really is way a cut above higher quality,
- 3:25Speaker 2: you know.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Any little I think, if you're going to have it candy.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Get the good ship the good stuff.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Meanwhile, give away the bad stuff for Halloween kids don't care, well.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Which is what we did. But this is a this
- 3:39Speaker 2: is a cut above Reese's, or a cut above a
- 3:42Speaker 2: kit Cat or I'm saying, well, but I you just
- 3:46Speaker 2: but Gina, you just said, if you're gonna have candy,
- 3:50Speaker 2: eat the good stuff. I've seen you pole down a
- 3:52Speaker 2: Reese's peanut butter.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Well, my point is this is just not available all
- 3:56Speaker 3: the time, so.
- 3:57Speaker 2: You know, you have to make do, is what it is.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Yeah, do to make do with it.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Let's see, I've had the Costcode du Bui chocolate. Pirateos
- 4:06Speaker 4: has the best. Oh okay, buy chocolate, but it's ten
- 4:09Speaker 4: dollars for a little a little bar.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Ten dollars.
- 4:13Speaker 2: How much is a bag of these? Yeah? And how
- 4:16Speaker 2: many and how many are in it?
- 4:18Speaker 1: I mean it's a pretty big bag. Well it's Costco
- 4:22Speaker 1: and it was like twenty bucks.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I think I don't know, but hmm, well, now I've
- 4:30Speaker 2: had it, and I'm looking at pictures of other Dubai chocolate.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Oh there's a Dubai chocolate flavored ice cream. Oh oh yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Someone was saying that Costco has Dubui chocolate ice cream sandwiches.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Well, oh, mine, that would be good. Oh really, take
- 4:50Speaker 4: back on the Dubuy chocolate and get the get the
- 4:52Speaker 4: ice cream sandwarich sandwiches. Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm just
- 4:57Speaker 4: wondering where it where this came from? An initially, I mean,
- 5:02Speaker 4: who did this?
- 5:04Speaker 3: Oh well, oh, it's.
- 5:05Speaker 2: A British Egyptian engineer living in Dubai.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I knew there was an Egyptian element to it.
- 5:11Speaker 2: At the time, his wife was pregnant and through her
- 5:16Speaker 2: food craving, she came to imagine a combination of chocolate,
- 5:19Speaker 2: pistachio tahini and I think that's the Philo do pera,
- 5:29Speaker 2: which is oh it says it's a Middle Eastern dessert
- 5:31Speaker 2: made of kadaiav syrup and soft cheese. Well thanks ship.
- 5:36Speaker 2: But so his wife developed it.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It became a social media thing, like it really took off.
- 5:45Speaker 4: There t have the trash man says, I failed to
- 5:48Speaker 4: see the appeal of to Bai chocolate.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And it's so expensive.
- 5:52Speaker 3: It's just a little it's not something you eat all
- 5:54Speaker 3: the time.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Yeah, seven eleven's are carrying to buy chocolate bars.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Now, I mean yeah, I mean this was again, this
- 6:00Speaker 2: was good, really good.
- 6:02Speaker 1: But it you know, but what why does there have
- 6:06Speaker 1: to be a butt? I mean, it's just why can't
- 6:08Speaker 1: you just enjoy it?
- 6:09Speaker 2: I did. I did enjoy it, but I'm not I'm
- 6:12Speaker 2: not craving it. I'm not What are you craving right now?
- 6:18Speaker 2: You don't want to know? No, you don't know.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I really want to know.
- 6:23Speaker 2: You really don't want to know. It's not something I
- 6:26Speaker 2: would reveal, even to my really, even to my mother.
- 6:29Speaker 3: No, I'm insanely curious what you're craving.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Oh no, Dubai chocolate was twenty two dollars. I beg, Yeah,
- 6:37Speaker 4: that's pretty expensive.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Really, if you're.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Ever down to Saint George, get the Dubai chocolate donut
- 6:42Speaker 4: at Pink Box. Oh, speaking at donuts, Yeah, so I
- 6:48Speaker 4: took home a couple of those Chomp donuts from uh,
- 6:50Speaker 4: the park City place, the Park City Place that's not
- 6:52Speaker 4: open yet, Chomp and Sue, she's just like I was
- 6:57Speaker 4: craving a donut. Oh God, that's a.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Good Which one did she have? Do you remember?
- 7:02Speaker 4: I brought her home an old fashioned at a Fritter
- 7:04Speaker 4: and she loved them both. And then she remembered this
- 7:08Speaker 4: place down on State Street that's supposed to have a
- 7:12Speaker 4: really good donut. So she went and got up early
- 7:15Speaker 4: this morning at like six thirty and went there because
- 7:20Speaker 4: they're busy all the time.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Donuts and Deli is that worthing Donuts and Delta they
- 7:23Speaker 1: have a great donut.
- 7:25Speaker 4: And she went and got the She got a couple
- 7:27Speaker 4: of you know, like the fritter and all that.
- 7:30Speaker 2: She said. I hate to say it, but Chomp was better.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Oh no, it was way better. You don't have to hate.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I went. I went to Donut and Deli once because
- 7:38Speaker 2: I think the donut critic recommended, and I was not impressed.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I if I'm getting a donut close by here, I
- 7:46Speaker 1: like a donut in Deli.
- 7:47Speaker 2: You should go to to Fillings and Emolsions or is
- 7:51Speaker 2: I like to call it feelings and emotions. But it's
- 7:55Speaker 2: in it's in the Old Granado. There's a bunch of
- 7:58Speaker 2: little places in that old Granado building in Third West,
- 8:01Speaker 2: and fillings and emulsions they have. They had a Queen
- 8:06Speaker 2: of mon was the best one I've had in this
- 8:08Speaker 2: insult a.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Not better than Rominas, Yes it was.
- 8:12Speaker 2: It was, and I've had Romina many times. It was
- 8:15Speaker 2: better than that. And they have all kinds of filled donuts.
- 8:19Speaker 2: They're really good stuff.
- 8:22Speaker 4: I mean, Donut and Deli was good apparently, but I
- 8:24Speaker 4: like there was something about the Chump that was just
- 8:26Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Better, way better, I thought.
- 8:29Speaker 1: So they'll have to go to Park City to get it.
- 8:31Speaker 1: We'll have to talk them into opening one down here.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Said, they're not even opened yet. Yeah. Oh, you don't
- 8:36Speaker 2: have to go to Park City. It's Kimball Junction, which
- 8:38Speaker 2: is easier. Yeah. I mean it's what ten minutes up
- 8:41Speaker 2: up the highway there, especially from your house, ten fifteen minutes. Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Oh.
- 8:46Speaker 4: And the reason that things run out at Costco the
- 8:51Speaker 4: Walmart effect. Companies used to sell to Walmart, and they
- 8:54Speaker 4: ordered so much that if slash when Walmart decreased their
- 8:58Speaker 4: order or stop, it ruins the company. Costco didn't want
- 9:03Speaker 4: to make their orders make or break a company.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Oh, so they limit what they so apparently that's it.
- 9:10Speaker 2: So they'll just run out of stuff and they'll then
- 9:13Speaker 2: and then order and then usually it'll come back. The
- 9:15Speaker 2: things that you miss, they'll usually come back. Thank you
- 9:21Speaker 2: for the Thank you for the chocolate. It was good.
