- 0:07Welcome back to another edition of Justin Time podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host, Justin, and with me is Will How?
- 0:14About how you doing? How you doing homie?
- 0:17Doing a lot better. So I was.
- 0:20Man, I was pissed on Saturday. Oh, we're.
- 0:23Going to get into what is it we got?
- 0:25We going to get, oh man, we going to get into it.
- 0:28Man, but they started off last week.
- 0:31They played great. Yes, yes.
- 0:34I mean, they won on Tuesday, but I'm not going too much into
- 0:38that. They won on Tuesday.
- 0:39That's the take away. They didn't play great, but they
- 0:41didn't play terrible. The offense showed up just
- 0:44enough to get a victory. That's all we needed.
- 0:46That's fine. The offense took advantage of
- 0:51Oklahoma on Thursday night. Thursday night, Oklahoma had
- 0:57three errors in one inning. We scored four.
- 1:00You know, you take advantage of those things.
- 1:04See what happens when you take advantage of stuff that errors
- 1:07that go wrong? Instead of you making an error
- 1:10and the other team takes advantage of it.
- 1:12Works out a little better for you.
- 1:13It's a different feeling. But, you know, on Saturday, I
- 1:19mean, on Friday night, we didn't play a bad game.
- 1:22We didn't play a clean game. And that cost us at the end, but
- 1:25we didn't play a bad game. I really think what cost us in
- 1:28that game was when Cooper Morrow went down, we didn't have a
- 1:31reliever ready to go. We had to bring a guy in, you
- 1:35know, and against the number 18 in the country, you've got to be
- 1:39mentally prepared. And when you're not prepared to
- 1:41go in, at a certain point, you're just not prepared.
- 1:45But the offense was dead. It's disappointing, man.
- 1:48I just, you know, The thing is, you know, you go into the series
- 1:53and you know what the issues are.
- 1:56You know, just The thing is, you know the talents there because
- 2:01it'll be one thing to have, it'll be frustrating enough to
- 2:04not have a team with talent OR just not have a good coaching
- 2:07staff. I mean, because there's only so
- 2:09much you can do with that. But just when you have the guys
- 2:13just on paper, like especially with the way they started the
- 2:16season, the way they just crapped the bed again this last
- 2:19couple games outside of last night, of course, but just
- 2:23overall is this man is they left so much on the field.
- 2:27Yeah, and I mean, so you move in the Saturday, we start off good,
- 2:32you know, But I said at some point during that game, having
- 2:36to come back with runners on the corners or in no outs or runners
- 2:41on 1st and 2nd with no outs was going to come back to bite you.
- 2:45It didn't happen in the first couple of innings.
- 2:50We were able. Schmidt was able to get hisself
- 2:51out, then Didgery was able to get himself out.
- 2:54Jay Johnson for the first time, made me question him.
- 2:59Usually because he got the shirt on the MJ we trust.
- 3:02Yeah, where I questioned him was I wanted to know why leave
- 3:07Guidry in for the ace. You should have put in your
- 3:10fresh arm. He was struggling towards the
- 3:13end and we were able to get out without giving a run up.
- 3:16But why are we putting in a red shirt sophomore who hasn't had
- 3:20much college experience due to injury his freshman year?
- 3:25He's he's basically a freshman coming in in the SEC.
- 3:30Why are we put Sharon in with no outs and runners on 1st and
- 3:35second against the top of their lineup?
- 3:37Or let me check. Actually, I think he might have
- 3:39let Guidry load the bases before we made the swap.
- 3:44Yeah, let's see. That's stats.
- 3:45I don't want stats on what? The books.
- 3:47Let's see. He pulled him in the A so first
- 3:49one walked, then a single up the middle, advanced in the third
- 3:54single in a walk. So the bases were loaded when we
- 3:57swap Sharon in for Guidry, you know, then he comes in on one
- 4:02and two in pits of the guy and they scored, you know, So your
- 4:07decision to leave Guidry in and not put Sharon in to start with
- 4:10ultimately ended up costing us that game, you know?
- 4:14Yeah, just yeah, that that really, I was perplexed by that
- 4:17as well because that was one of the big stories over the last
- 4:20over the weekend because you you see yourself losing it a little
- 4:23bit. And I'm just like, you know, if
- 4:27you stack up in a bullpen, you know, just you got to get a
- 4:30fresh arm out there in that situation.
- 4:34Even with Guidry's success this year up, like especially during
- 4:37the start of it, you know, I just, I would have wanted a
- 4:40fresher arm in there given the struggles, yeah.
- 4:44He was obviously struggling, you know.
- 4:46So as of filming last week, our team ERA was 5.24524 ERAI wrote
- 4:56this down on Monday before last night's game.
- 4:59But it's still, it's still good. Our ERA on Monday, they brought
- 5:03it down almost a full point as a team, 4.44 Yeah.
- 5:09Then after last night, team, ER, it as it stands now is 469, you
- 5:19know, And after last night, the batting average, team batting
- 5:23average dropped a little bit. It was 277, but they raised it
- 5:28back up to 283 last night. Yeah, we had like I listened to
- 5:32Musso yesterday like so before the yesterday's game, we had our
- 5:36bad average of the team that dropped almost 100 full points
- 5:40like since from from after the first eight games up until going
- 5:46into yesterday, it dropped like a full almost 100 points as bad.
- 5:49Yeah, it was up in like 368. It's like 360.
- 5:52Yeah, it was like in the high 3. Yeah.
- 5:54Yeah, I don't know if we got the 370, but it was like high 360
- 5:58though. Yeah, it was high 360 and it
- 6:00dropped down. But the biggest one for me of
- 6:03the weekend was Cason. Evan entered that game with I
- 6:08think it was a 569 ERA or something like that, and he was
- 6:14able to bring it down to 48. Yes, big time.
- 6:18Yeah. But you know, the biggest thing
- 6:20for me over the weekend is and what's going to come up in the
- 6:23next couple weeks, who is going to be the guy on this pitching
- 6:26staff to step up until that Sunday start?
- 6:29You know, because with offensive struggles the way they've been,
- 6:33you know, it's a lot to ask for Evans and Schmidt to come
- 6:39through when we're struggling like that.
- 6:42Yeah, but. I totally agree.
- 6:45You know, and then you've got, I mean, you've got your choices.
- 6:50Yeah. And I think he's kind of leaning
- 6:53towards going with Newt on Sunday, Jaden Newt, just because
- 6:58Newt has was a weeks 1 midweek starter for a while and he
- 7:03didn't pitch at all last night. Good catch.
- 7:07Yeah, so I think that's where he's leaning.
- 7:10You know, Cowan wouldn't be a bad guy, wouldn't be a bad one
- 7:13to start, but he's so clutch coming out bullpen lately.
- 7:16Yeah, that's, that's the, that's the the conundrum they have like
- 7:19because my ideal scenario to replace Cooper Moore because
- 7:22you're going to bump every case is going to be on Friday,
- 7:25Schmidt's going to Saturday. I'm ideal it would be Cowen.
- 7:28That's just me. I would like to see Cowen in
- 7:30that spot. But like you said is the bullpen
- 7:32aspect because you don't have the the most dependable bullpen
- 7:36at this moment even with the arm talents.
- 7:39But just because of this sensitive situation, I would
- 7:42like to see Cowen at least as of right now, yeah.
- 7:45I mean, or I wouldn't let's see, I'm not going to lie, love to
- 7:51see I'm going to go ahead and use that new app to pull it up.
- 7:57Let's see let's see. I think plugs a lefty and I
- 7:59wouldn't mind putting him in if I'm being 100% yeah, he's a
- 8:04lefty. You know 2 and O they 568, you
- 8:09know ERA, but that's not terrible.
- 8:11It's giving you a different look.
- 8:14You've got 2 hard throwing righties at this point.
- 8:18You're going to go on to Sunday with in go Johnny host staff
- 8:22anyway. You might as well put him in for
- 8:24the 1st 2 innings, 2 or 3 innings.
- 8:26Let him get you what he can. You know right because there's
- 8:30no telling they can say he Cooper Moore is coming back in
- 8:33two to three weeks. But they kept saying that with
- 8:35Guidry last year and in 23 they said it with Edwards and Chase
- 8:43sure is that they were coming back.
- 8:45You know, they were coming back. They never got healthy enough to
- 8:48come back. Yes.
- 8:50So there's no telling if he will be back.
- 8:53So you need somebody to develop an arrow, you know?
- 8:57And they said it was about about a month is what I heard.
- 9:00But like I said, I don't you just got to get nonetheless.
- 9:04You got to get somebody to step in ASAP that you rely on.
- 9:10That's a massive loss, man. Gosh, that's a massive loss.
- 9:14Yeah, but, you know, on Thursday night, I was sitting there at
- 9:19that game. OK, There was the box wasn't
- 9:23packed as usual, like as it usually is because it was a
- 9:27Thursday night game at 7:00 PM. Yeah.
- 9:29You could hear the guys from the bench cheering for their
- 9:35teammates. They will lose.
- 9:36They were having fun. You know, Thursday, I mean
- 9:39Friday and Saturday there was no fun showing they didn't have
- 9:42this team doesn't have an attitude.
- 9:44They don't have that strong personality that other teams in
- 9:49the past have have. They don't hate to lose more
- 9:53than they love to win. And it's showing because we have
- 9:57a bunch of guys who I think the only two position players on
- 10:06that 2014, I mean, you can throw Stanfield in because Auburn,
- 10:11what didn't get good until after he left and came to LSU last
- 10:15year. So you got Stanfield, Brown and
- 10:19Milam. The rest of them on that team
- 10:21have no idea what it's like to struggle.
- 10:24They just thought, probably thought they were going to come
- 10:26to LSU and LSU was going to be this Omaha team.
- 10:30They were going to win. You know, they don't know what
- 10:33it's like to struggle because you've got guys like Pearson and
- 10:36Aaron Beatty and Curiel. They were on that great team
- 10:41from last year as freshmen. So they don't know what it's
- 10:44like to struggle. Those guys that was there
- 10:46before. I'm in Milan, who keeps playing
- 10:48outstanding. He can stand to get a little
- 10:51better at the plate. But yeah, you know, Stanfield
- 10:57who? Shout out to him home run the
- 10:58other day, first one of his season.
- 11:01Yeah. Aaron BD, he's struggling.
- 11:04But for the no, Aaron BD, I can't say Aaron BD, Jake Brown.
- 11:08I mean, Jake Brown's killing it at the plate, Yeah.
- 11:12Or was he cooled off a little bit?
- 11:14Yeah, this, this was like his, you know, the worst week.
- 11:17I mean by me that's I mean 2 errors 2.
- 11:20Throwing errors, yeah, but they don't hate to lose and they're
- 11:26not having fun. And baseball?
- 11:29Baseball should be fun. I'm on camera.
- 11:32There you go, KFC, the camera waiting on you.
- 11:34You to stop, not the shirt. You know, there you go, Winning
- 11:38is fun. Yes.
- 11:40And baseball should be fun. Yes, there you go.
- 11:43You can get that T-shirt from blank canvas.
- 11:45Tees, don't forget people blank canvas Tees you.
- 11:48Can also get this one and J we trust from blank canvas Tees.
- 11:52But you know, they're not having fun out there.
- 11:55That's the problem with a bunch of Major League teams is they
- 11:57don't have fun. That's why some of them are so
- 11:59hard to watch. They're just not having fun.
- 12:02But especially at this level and it's college level, you should
- 12:05be having fun. You should be going out there
- 12:08and having fun. You're not going to, some of you
- 12:10aren't going to see these guys again after this year.
- 12:13Yeah, that's. Right.
- 12:14You know, you'll never play with these guys again in this team in
- 12:17this time. So you got to go out there and
- 12:21have fun with your friends and play baseball and that's all it
- 12:25should be about. You're not having fun any shows.
- 12:27The one game I watched this week where you had fun and you were
- 12:30cutting up, you beat the number 18 in the country, 7 to 1.
- 12:33You know, but it's evident to me that some of these guys, they
- 12:37don't hate to lose more than they love to win.
- 12:39And that's a problem. The inning is fun, but if you
- 12:42don't hate to lose, then, and it's not just hating to lose,
- 12:45you got to hate to lose more than you love to win.
- 12:48That's exactly right. And The thing is, when you have
- 12:52that attitude, that should be reflected in your performance.
- 12:56Like you said, it should reflect in the morale.
- 12:59Because like when I see all these inconsistencies on the
- 13:02team that doesn't show like I don't, I can't get a, a idea of
- 13:07that. You love to, you hate to lose
- 13:10more than you love to win. You know what I mean?
- 13:12It's just so it's so mass inconsistent right now on the
- 13:15field, just like still the same fueling issues, inconsistent
- 13:19pitching, you know, subpar offense all all around.
- 13:23And we don't get to the pluses in a second.
- 13:25But just the man is just like, gosh, like this, Like I said,
- 13:29it's still the season, still really young.
- 13:31So I mean, I'm not I'm not I'm not pressing a panic button.
- 13:35But I know we had said previously, I said, if they
- 13:38still look like this this coming weekend, like we, we we said
- 13:41give it three SEC weekends. If they still look at some part
- 13:44then I can. Yeah, I mean, here, look at it
- 13:49this way, OK? They were talking about it last
- 13:53night. The league is so close together
- 13:57as far as talent goes. Mississippi State Auburn
- 14:02Kentucky Texas Oklahoma Georgia In Arkansas Arkansas 12345 5677
- 14:14teams are tied for first place at four and 21234 is tied for
- 14:19second at 3:00 and 3:00 and then 123 are tied for 3rd at 2:00 and
- 14:274:00 and then the bottom 2 are one and 5 S.
- 14:33The bottom two teams in the SEC are only three games out of
- 14:37first place in the bottom 123, the bottom almost, you know, the
- 14:42next ones. LSU at 2:00 and 4:00 is still
- 14:45only two games at the top out of first place.
- 14:49There's still time to get it together.
- 14:51With the way this league is busted out, sure you know that
- 14:55you can get in it and you've got one of the top teams this
- 14:58weekend coming to your place. That's right.
- 15:02To your house. You can't let them beat you at
- 15:04your house. You cannot give up another
- 15:07series, man. You gave up two series so far in
- 15:10conference. And you've got 2 road series
- 15:13back-to-back at 2. Tough places to play coming up.
- 15:16Tell me about it. So you need to get it together
- 15:20now and play your best ball. You know, you need to come now.
- 15:23You need to get it together. You need to play, I mean, like
- 15:27we said, batting average. You need to get that.
- 15:31This weekend needs to be the weekend that your offense comes
- 15:33out of the slump. You're at 283 right now.
- 15:37You need to get that batting average back to either in the
- 15:42two 90s or at 300. The ERA is at 469.
- 15:47You dropped it down almost a full point from last week.
- 15:51You didn't walk too many people. You know, you gave up a bunch of
- 15:55hits. But some of those shift hits,
- 15:56they beat the Oklahoma just beat the shift.
- 15:59Yeah, for sure. So, and I get the need where you
- 16:03you need to play this, you need to play that, but at some point
- 16:06you just got to ditch the shift, let them play straight up and
- 16:09let them play their position and field their position.
- 16:14You know, the only reason we have a couple, the double plays
- 16:19we have defensively is because of Milan.
- 16:22Now, I don't know if we'll saw, but I added a category for week
- 16:26in and week out. We need to get our fielding
- 16:33percentage up. We got to play clean baseball.
- 16:35You can't be having throwing errors, you know, let's see,
- 16:39where's Steven Milam out on this list?
- 16:42Should be at the top. Yeah, there we go.
- 16:44Milam is more double plays than two, so I can't count that.
- 16:47But you know, you got to, you got to up the double plays.
- 16:51We got to get it going. You got to play Milam at short,
- 16:56either Caraway or Pearson at third.
- 16:59You got to leave him at 3rd and let him play straight up because
- 17:02where those guys hit that and beat that shift was where a
- 17:05third baseman should be. And I get that you want a short
- 17:08hand on the other side, that bag when you move my own from short
- 17:13to 2nd during those shifts. But at some point you can't
- 17:17beat. You got to trust your field is
- 17:20to make that position. And that's the thing though.
- 17:22So just like you have to put in order to trust a fielder, you
- 17:26got to have people you can trust.
- 17:28Exactly. So I mean, you know, yeah, I
- 17:31think we're still figuring out our best knowing to put out
- 17:35there. I think the outfield is locked
- 17:37down. I think shortstop is locked
- 17:40down. Yes, I.
- 17:42Did like the move on Saturday, put sauna at first?
- 17:49Yeah, yeah, I did. And I'm not going to lie, yes,
- 17:54we need York to pick his, to pick it up and start hitting and
- 18:00get his confidence back up. I think we need turn over at
- 18:03first base more than we need York.
- 18:05I'm with you there. Like he's just lie on his feet.
- 18:08I just like more the more steady a lot.
- 18:12I like his. I like his upward trend right
- 18:15now and I think. If we're not going to, we're not
- 18:18going to use him behind the plate.
- 18:20I think we need to put York at DH and have him at first base.
- 18:29And as far as catching goes, I think we need to give Eddie
- 18:31Yaman a try. I mean, Serna looked great last
- 18:36night, but we've got too many pass balls.
- 18:39Getting across. One cost us a run this weekend.
- 18:42I think two of them cost us a run.
- 18:44They it was both air and BDI. Think level 1 kick out to the
- 18:49side when he should have blocked you straight up.
- 18:52That can't happen. You know, we need to get it
- 18:56together, play clean ball and play pitch and catch.
- 18:59You know, that's what it all boils down to.
- 19:00You got to play clean ball. You got to play clean.
- 19:04Let's see how many errors we've got now.
- 19:06We had fielding 32 total errors, so we jumped up from last week's
- 19:1125 to 3032. We jumped up in errors.
- 19:15We need to clean it up. You got to play clean ball.
- 19:19There's no reason you should be making this many errors.
- 19:21Jake Brown hit your cut off, man.
- 19:24You've made two throwing errors this last past weekend that cost
- 19:27us runs because you threw it into the dugout and they
- 19:31automatically advanced. You know, we've got to play
- 19:33clean baseball. That's the only way we're going
- 19:35to end. You can't win in this league and
- 19:38play sloppy ball. You've got to play straight up
- 19:42clean baseball. Offense has to pick it up.
- 19:45You know we can't. I think Jay Johnson said one of
- 19:49his goals was to team goal was to have three consecutive just
- 19:54put the ball in play, clutch at bats with runners in position.
- 19:59Yeah, like basically string together like three to four hits
- 20:01like string 3. To four hits in making three
- 20:04different times we only strung together.
- 20:07We only did that once when you've got runners in scoring
- 20:10position, like we had the bases loaded and didn't get anything.
- 20:15Yeah, but. Let me let me see if this I put
- 20:20a note on that just still be up here.
- 20:24But yeah, I was like, you want to.
- 20:25I was like when I saw that I'm like, I don't like that is not
- 20:29good. I shouldn't You guys did not
- 20:31take advantage of that. I'm like, man, it's like, what
- 20:35else do you? What else do you need?
- 20:37Yeah, you've got it. Yeah, said it was the time to
- 20:40take the lead and we blew it. That's why I put yeah, I knew I
- 20:42put a new cast. You got to, let's see, I wrote
- 20:47some notes on I think Friday, Thursday night's game.
- 20:49I don't think I wrote notes anything.
- 20:51No, I didn't end up writing notes.
- 20:52I just wrote down the beginning, guys.
- 20:57But you know, especially when you've got pitches who go out
- 21:00there and they're giving it their all.
- 21:04And the new award I got, I wouldn't even call it an award
- 21:09because if you're proud to get this, there's something wrong
- 21:11with you that we're giving out. Is OVP least valuable
- 21:15performance or least valuable player?
- 21:17This week's least valuable performance in this something
- 21:20from 2 weeks. His game would have been tied
- 21:27TaylorMade double play ball hit straight to 2nd baseman at the
- 21:31time Jack Ruckert, who I believe we had just taken care of way
- 21:36out of the game. Yep, she ended up like Daniel
- 21:41man. Which, you know what?
- 21:43I won't just put it on Jack. I'll put.
- 21:46We've got another one who deserves to.
- 21:48We've got another one who deserves to be there.
- 21:54And so let's just start from the beginning, the half inning
- 21:58before that, in the bottom of the seventh, Jeh Johnson pulls
- 22:02Trent Caraway in pinch hits for Tanner Reeves.
- 22:05Why? I don't know.
- 22:07Tanner Reeves is like allergic to getting hits.
- 22:10He couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.
- 22:12He couldn't hit a ball off AT At this point, he just looks really
- 22:16bad at the plate. Why are we pinch hitting for
- 22:18him? If you're going to pinch hit,
- 22:20put Jack Rucker in, which by the way, Jack Rucker got to least
- 22:24value performance of the week. And I put a note here.
- 22:30If you get on this least valuable performance list, you
- 22:33lose. That's negative points for the
- 22:35powerhouse PO. I don't think Tanner Reeves or
- 22:39Rucker are on this pole, but they at least have -1 right now.
- 22:44They got to make a comeback. But Tanner Reeves, just Jean
- 22:48Johnson consistently puts him into these positions in these
- 22:52big games. And I don't think, I don't know
- 22:54if it's because he is his veteran, but he just looks
- 22:57really bad at the plate. Like he swings at air, you know.
- 23:05But I got sidetracked. Here's 2 tailor made double play
- 23:10balls hit straight to Jack rocket.
- 23:12He didn't even have to move. They didn't look to be that
- 23:15difficult of balls to field boots.
- 23:17Not only that, he couldn't even finish the play to get to out in
- 23:21the game on Saturday. That cannot happen.
- 23:24And was he was supposed to be the defense replacement?
- 23:26You were. You are the defense.
- 23:29You are the short handed defensive guy there.
- 23:34That's why they put you there in two weeks in a row.
- 23:36You boot 2 tailor made ground balls and here's the kicker
- 23:42Sharon. He must hate Sharon and Sharon
- 23:44must hate him because at both times he, that's who was on
- 23:47Devin. Sharon was on the mound looking
- 23:50to get out of an inning. Tailor made ground ball took
- 23:54your second baseman Jack Rucker and he boots it both times.
- 23:57Don't know what the problem is, but that cannot happen.
- 24:02We've got to get it together. Start turning these double play
- 24:06balls because if you can't do the basics and at this point
- 24:09you're in college, that's you. You're in college.
- 24:13Catholic High has been one of the top ranked high schools in
- 24:17the state of Louisiana and is constantly on national polls for
- 24:22base high school baseball. That's where you come from, so
- 24:27you can feel the ground ball and turn a double play.
- 24:30There's no moment too big for you.
- 24:31You played in big moments before.
- 24:33Let's field the ball and get it out.
- 24:36You don't see Milan making that kind of mistakes.
- 24:38I mean, in his defense, comparing anyone to Milan is.
- 24:43Basically. Comparing him to a Major League
- 24:45Baseball player right now. But you know, let's get it
- 24:48together. But, you know, let's take a
- 24:50small break. And this is still talking about
- 24:52LSU baseball. But he like Maneri getting fired
- 24:55in the middle of the series. Man, oh man, they they said,
- 25:01they said it'd been really bad, man, just I haven't looked into
- 25:04games so far, but they said it got really ugly.
- 25:08I would, I'm not going to lie, I was surprised that he did it
- 25:12during the seasons, especially this early.
- 25:14I thought he was going to. I thought he was going to get
- 25:15Cam by the at at seasons end, by the yeah, I didn't.
- 25:19Think it was going to be this early.
- 25:22Normally baseball teams, unless you got a guy like that Alabama
- 25:26coach a couple years ago that was betting against his team,
- 25:28you know, normally they don't fire baseball coaches in the
- 25:32middle of the season unless it's traumatic.
- 25:36I think they wanted to fire him after his first year because I
- 25:40heard he lost the locker room and stuff in the first year, but
- 25:45that didn't happen. But let me ask you a question
- 25:49and I'm going to ask this and hopefully I can get this cut as
- 25:53a clip. When you think of college
- 25:55baseball over the last 30 years, who do you think of When you
- 26:01think college baseball? Unless you think LSU, you think
- 26:05Texas, You know who have you never thought of other than two
- 26:12years? In that I'll give you 1 better
- 26:15almost 40 years go back to the 1990.
- 26:19You go back to 40 years. You think of LSU, Mississippi
- 26:22State, Texas. But I see videos on TikTok and
- 26:26stuff of South Carolina podcasters and sports writers
- 26:30and everything saying South Carolina used to be the name in
- 26:35college baseball. No, you were never the name.
- 26:37You were the name for two years because you won the national
- 26:41championship back-to-back then. You fell off completely and you
- 26:45never got back on. You would.
- 26:46Nobody ever thinks to South Carolina for anything other than
- 26:49women's college basketball. Reality.
- 26:51What other sport can you think of that you would think college
- 26:55football? Who's your names in college
- 26:56football at the top of your head?
- 26:58College football. We got Ohio State, Michigan.
- 27:01Bam, another day. That's the name of you.
- 27:03My Tigers. Our Tigers.
- 27:05Yeah. So name a few.
- 27:07Just name a few. All right, college basketball.
- 27:11Duke, North Carolina. Kansas.
- 27:13Kentucky. Let's name a few.
- 27:17Exactly UConn. Guess who's?
- 27:20Never on that list. And typically don't see South
- 27:24Carolina. You can't.
- 27:25You can't claim you're not even the best team in your state to
- 27:29claim that you are an elite baseball team.
- 27:32I had to think of Clemson before I think of you for all of those
- 27:36sports. But I'll give it to you.
- 27:38Those two years of what? Was it 20/10/2011?
- 27:4310:00 and 11:00 I'll give it to you yet.
- 27:45You were an elite baseball team. You won an you won a national
- 27:48championship 2 years in a row. But I can't say that I think
- 27:52about you. When I look at the big picture
- 27:54and think over the past 3 or 4 decades, college baseball elite
- 27:58programs, I think LSU, Texas, Mississippi State.
- 28:03I don't think South Carolina, so no.
- 28:05But when I saw that they lost to Arkansas 22 to 6 or 22 to 4,
- 28:10whatever it was on Friday night, on Saturday, before I left the
- 28:15house to go to the game, I was talking to my mom and I said
- 28:19pulmonary is going to be back in Baton Rouge soon.
- 28:22By Sunday, I forgot those five dogs.
- 28:23That's so funny, dog. Then.
- 28:26Gosh. I was, I just got to the game.
- 28:29I checked my phone, I'm on Facebook and it says pulmonary
- 28:31gone pulmonary in South Carolina mutually part.
- 28:35I think I texted you and I was cutting up.
- 28:43Gosh, but you know, but like, but just real like before we get
- 28:45back into it, just you asked me the question, you know, about
- 28:48college baseball once about a time college baseball was really
- 28:51dominated in the West Coast. You got the legendary run of,
- 28:54you know, Roger doing the USC Trojans.
- 28:57You have obviously a Fullerton. You had a Arizona State in the
- 29:0160s and 70s. You had later on, you got Oregon
- 29:04State in there. You got Stanford, of course,
- 29:08they're like, you know, as we, you and I got older, obviously
- 29:11the southeastern region of the country, Texas was always
- 29:14steady. Miami's always steady.
- 29:15Of course we were always steady. But just you start to get the
- 29:18CDs and T really run, it's rain. And then The thing is, like I
- 29:21said, we were, we were in high school.
- 29:23That's when South Carolina won their championships, like Rayton
- 29:27did an incredible judge. They're 2 two.
- 29:30Yeah, they don't correct. Look, see, you know that's two
- 29:33before y'all correct? Yeah.
- 29:37No, but it's they did an incredible job.
- 29:39I mean, but just. But like you said, even still,
- 29:42like they've just been lapped by Vandy.
- 29:44They've been lapped by you see everybody?
- 29:48Yeah, go ahead. Speaking of Speaking of Vandy, I
- 29:51laughed so hard during that series.
- 29:53It was on the Take It this was Kyle Peterson and the ESPNI
- 29:57think the SEC Network crew wasn't the normal Vandy crew
- 30:01that was there. Yeah.
- 30:03They were talking about Vandy's national championships and I
- 30:06think they said they said 2014 and 2017 was when Vandy won the
- 30:10championships. They pan out right behind the
- 30:14plate and Vandy has their national championships written
- 30:17there and it says 20/14/2019. It's like you can't, you can't
- 30:31read the camera and look anywhere at that stadium in C
- 30:36that they wanted in 19 in 14, not 17.
- 30:42That's 17 Florida won in 17 this.
- 30:45Week Florida beat us for it in 17.
- 30:48And our expense, unfortunately, you're right, yes, but just for
- 30:51fact checking, I hate. Giving Florida credit credit
- 30:56what credit's due of? Course Mandy would have had. 1 I
- 31:01believe in 2021. But.
- 31:04You played dirty. They played dirty with the COVID
- 31:08rules. They played dirty and that's how
- 31:12they made it to the championship to begin with.
- 31:14But I'll tell you like Leiter and Kumar rock, but it don't
- 31:16just run. Yeah, and they lost the old piss
- 31:20in that World Series. And I'm not saying that NC State
- 31:23would have won it all, but I think they got scared of NC
- 31:26State because NC State was playing hot.
- 31:28And that was when that COVID rules came out and all that.
- 31:31They couldn't feel the team. But you know, back to the topic
- 31:34at hand, I was really impressed with our pitching this week.
- 31:37Me too, definitely. I was not as impressed last
- 31:40night when Ricken got booted in the got to boot in the you know,
- 31:45But I'm really impressed with how our pitcher stepped up.
- 31:47It's like they listened to me last week.
- 31:49No, they did without question. They they were on the fire.
- 31:53It's like Kason Evans turned on our podcast and said, ask that
- 31:57guy. I'm not going to show him what I
- 32:01could do. You did.
- 32:06Congratulations, you made it to #1 on my powerhouse pitching
- 32:13post was Kason Evans. You drop your ERA a full point.
- 32:18You know, I'm amazed. I'm amazed.
- 32:23No, like I was like, he was really, really good. 7 and 2/3.
- 32:30I think he had 15 KS. Let me pull it up.
- 32:33Where is he at? I got yeah 7 and 2/3. 7 2/3
- 32:38Three hits, one run, one walk in 15 KS.
- 32:44Yes, listen, he struck out. He had 15 KS against 28 batters.
- 32:48He struck out half his batters, Yeah, so.
- 32:52Like, you're amazing. You did amazing.
- 32:54OK, Then my number two guy was Fatna talking about a kid with
- 33:04control issues lately. Came in, cleaned it up, got us
- 33:09where we needed to be. And then Zach Cowan has just
- 33:12been, since Bandy has looked really, really good, and that's
- 33:18why he's on this list. Sounds good.
- 33:22Yeah, I'll let you do yours. Yeah, so as far as you know from
- 33:26my pitching for week 6, obviously the no brainer answer
- 33:30was case in Evans. You like we talked about 15 KS,
- 33:33only three hits allowed and a walk allowed is 7 2/3.
- 33:36You know, 15 KS on 28 against 28 batters face when you strike
- 33:41out, when you strike out half your batters, your opponents
- 33:43batters, you know, that's an incredible feat.
- 33:45And like, it's just but I just hate and we're going to get to
- 33:49this, of course, but I just hate that.
- 33:51He had a yet another elite pitcher performance go to waste
- 33:55in the series loss. It's the twice in the last three
- 33:57weeks, but we're going to definitely get to that.
- 33:59I'm not going to get too far ahead of myself.
- 34:01But so that case never was dominant.
- 34:04This is only one. It's only once in the last.
- 34:07They did lose the series to SAC State.
- 34:10Never mind, you're right. Just just like the the fact that
- 34:13it's lost, like it's wasted by a series loss.
- 34:16But we, you know, we're going, we're going to get on to that.
- 34:19So second place, you know, I got, I put William Schmidt in
- 34:222nd and I'll say this because, you know, still like very steady
- 34:27performance on paper. I just pulled it up.
- 34:30Yeah. So just four hits.
- 34:31He did that. He had four innings pitch, you
- 34:34know, six hits, but he had 7 strikeouts only.
- 34:39They like most of his batters faced really just trying to
- 34:42steady the ship with the pitching really.
- 34:44The starters had a really good outing.
- 34:46Obviously it was their most dominant showing on paper
- 34:49outside of Evans, but they really kept the Fort down for
- 34:53the for the team and they're like.
- 34:55And you know, yeah, go ahead. These starting pitchers, with
- 34:58the exceptions of Evans this week, errors.
- 35:01Yeah, yes. They killed more.
- 35:08They killed Schmidt. Yes.
- 35:11Actually, Ayers did not kill Schmidt because Schmidt went in.
- 35:14It was we had a 3-1 lead when Schmidt came out the game.
- 35:18It was brings me to my third guy was a Grant fond of for the for
- 35:22the third spot because really bailed out just with the Central
- 35:25like you just said, just came in clutching that 6th inning.
- 35:29You know, just, you know, when more got injured, the pitcher
- 35:32did their job. Like just overall, the starting
- 35:35guys really, really just did their job just keeping Oklahoma
- 35:40off the scoreboard as long as they could.
- 35:42Offense let them down completely.
- 35:44The defense let them kind of completely.
- 35:47But those are my pigeons. Yeah, so like, I'll, I'll go
- 35:51into offense. Mine is Omar, son and junior #1
- 35:55he's just been on fire. Gosh, let me tell you.
- 35:59You know, I like that bat. You got to find a way to keep
- 36:02that bat in the line up, you know, and you need to keep him
- 36:05on the field. Yes, any way you can.
- 36:09Yeah, so speaks for himself then.
- 36:13I've got Pearson as my number two guy just really clutch it
- 36:17backs, you know then because you know, and shout out to Stanfield
- 36:22for getting his first home owner of the year.
- 36:24But outside of that, he hit into a game ending double play.
- 36:28He hit into so many double plays.
- 36:30I gave this to the third spot to Eddie Yaman.
- 36:35He didn't really get he didn't hit.
- 36:38He found a way to get on base and contribute offensively and
- 36:42we needed that over the weekend and we're going to need that in
- 36:46teachers to come. That's why he's on the list.
- 36:49I will say this though, while I got for pitching honorable
- 36:53mention, I will give it to Gavin Guidry.
- 36:57Only reason that you didn't make my list this week is because
- 37:01your coach left you in too long and you look bad in that 8th
- 37:04inning. Yeah, I only, yeah, I'm with
- 37:08you. I'm always on what you can do in
- 37:09there. Yeah, but you know, back to
- 37:12offense and I'll let you, I'll pass it over to you.
- 37:15So yeah, like I'm with you on the offense as far for #1 Omar
- 37:18son of junior do was electric all week this whole stretch.
- 37:22Just like the guy has A8 game hit streak.
- 37:25That's the highest on on the team so far, 88 straight games
- 37:28with a hit. The guy has been he's been
- 37:30clutched, he's been dominant this whole stretch.
- 37:33Look. He hit one to Mexico last night.
- 37:35Yes, that's. Right.
- 37:39Literally, literally. Look, I called them.
- 37:42Yeah, look, I told my I was on the phone with my dad when I was
- 37:46watching the game and I said he said how CERN are doing.
- 37:49Then I said he hit one in Mexico and he said, damn, he hit a home
- 37:53run that far, is it? No, he literally hit it to
- 37:55Mexico. That's the name of the left
- 37:57fielder. Hey, man, he ain't going to say
- 38:00it's fake, but it's real. Yeah.
- 38:03No, but I got a second. I got John Pearson really like,
- 38:06you know, I've seen him like he this is like the best I've seen
- 38:09him personally at the bat. I normally see him like strike
- 38:12out a good bit, but just he's really got very productive this
- 38:16stretch. And like I know what you just
- 38:18said about Chris Stanford. I gave Chris a narrow edge only
- 38:21because you know, just like him coming off the injury is still
- 38:25contributing. Like he's contributing.
- 38:27That's a lot to ask for him, even though he's a he's a
- 38:30veteran player, plays really well in conference.
- 38:34Wade is struggling offensely as a unit, the team overall, just I
- 38:38just like how he's really stepped in.
- 38:40You know, it's a big time guy. Like you said earlier, he got
- 38:43his first home run of the season.
- 38:44Obviously injuries has compromised his performance, but
- 38:47just the fact that he's still able to be productive, like you
- 38:51said that grounding out to double play is definitely not
- 38:54ideal. But on the offense struggling
- 38:56the way they did like for the guys to get the couple hits that
- 38:59he had, a few hits this this stretch, I gave him the narrow
- 39:02edge. Yeah, I will say this, I like
- 39:05him as a lead off. Yeah, you get him on lead off
- 39:11the game and like last night against Tech, it puts a little
- 39:16pressure on pitchers because he's got the speed.
- 39:19Yes. He can jump around out there.
- 39:21He puts a bunch of pressure on a defense offense and a catch
- 39:24offense and a catcher, a pitcher and a catcher and a defense.
- 39:28When you got that kind of speed getting on to start a game off
- 39:31and then you got a guy like Jake Brown behind him who can slap it
- 39:35anywhere. I will say this, we need to, I
- 39:37feel like we need to spread out our lineup and I feel Jay has
- 39:40done that because you got Milam. It's been a consistent bat,
- 39:46hasn't been a graded bat, but it's been a consistent bat and
- 39:49he's farther towards the bottom now.
- 39:52It's a little more spread out. It's not as hot top heavy as the
- 39:55line up as you. See.
- 39:55Yeah, Yeah, I'm with you. Yeah.
- 39:58Then defense, man, you can't take mile on my that top spot.
- 40:02You might as well put he might as well put him in sharpie at
- 40:05this point. Yeah, he's glued to that top
- 40:08spot. He's not coming off that top
- 40:11spot as he is. I wouldn't be surprised if he's
- 40:14the number one at the end of the season.
- 40:17He's on pace right now. If he's, he's off.
- 40:19If you end the season right now, he's he's #1.
- 40:23I mean, we're halfway through the season.
- 40:24I don't think either one of us had anybody else at #1 the whole
- 40:28season. Curiel look really, really good,
- 40:31and I'm going to preference this now, OK?
- 40:35Serna is my #3 guy. Not as a catcher, as first
- 40:40baseman. Yeah, because he was.
- 40:42Terrible behind the plate this weekend.
- 40:45Yeah, like, you know, it's funny.
- 40:47I'll see. So.
- 40:48Because we gave a. Priest and I even have it on
- 40:52here as first base. First base.
- 40:56He's amazing. I really think when he's not
- 40:59catching, you put him at first base and you DH York because
- 41:05York seems to be coming around with the bat.
- 41:08Leave York in the line up, but put you more athletic first
- 41:11baseman at first base. You know, Speaking of York, let
- 41:14me see if I can find that tweet from Don EADS.
- 41:17All right, here we go. York, in his words, had his
- 41:21worst game of the season on Friday night.
- 41:25Got a text from Jay Johnson at 1:00 in the morning just telling
- 41:29him, you know, that he loves him and his teammates loves him and
- 41:36he'll, he'll do great things. He just needs to get out of
- 41:40system. I think they put him with a
- 41:42mental coach to kind of teach him to forget about the bad at
- 41:46bats and focus on the good at bats.
- 41:49You know, that's why Jay Johnson is probably the best coach in
- 41:53college baseball. Yeah, I wouldn't look, I
- 41:56wouldn't call it probably, you know, we got the best man, but.
- 41:59I mean, we feel like we got the best look.
- 42:02We're struggling now, but it's moves like moving Sana to first
- 42:09base, texting a guy at 1:00 AM, you know, think like, I think
- 42:12two years ago we lost to Florida.
- 42:14And during the season you get a guy like Jay Johnson, he said he
- 42:18stared up at the moon until 3:00 AM or something like that
- 42:22because he couldn't get it. He they couldn't win.
- 42:24They couldn't do anything right. It really made him think you get
- 42:29a guy like that where it matters, you know, not to
- 42:32mention in the his second season, I think they put a for
- 42:35sale sign up at his house early on in the season and he used
- 42:41that as motivation to win a national championship that year.
- 42:45Look a turn into that. Yeah, I can't wait till it all
- 42:51comes out for sale. Yeah, but you know, I got Serna,
- 42:57first baseman Serna. 1st. Baseman 3rd defensive powerhouse
- 43:03poll to this week and I'll let you go on.
- 43:06So like you said, we already talked about Stephen Basically
- 43:10defense at this point is just a race for 2nd place honestly,
- 43:13because Stephen modeling ain't going nowhere.
- 43:15You know what? What kid?
- 43:16Like how many double plays? It's like what?
- 43:18It goes without saying, you know, I'm not going to, I'm not
- 43:21going to even waste your time, brother.
- 43:22It's just like it's like Stephen Myles number with the clear 1.
- 43:25Derek Carrillo's my second place guy, you know, really very loose
- 43:29and athletic in the outfield is really tracking on the those
- 43:33fast moving balls and just really getting to dive in plays
- 43:37Once again for #3 like you make a compelling case for your third
- 43:41guys. Just narrow edge to Chris
- 43:43Stanfield once again, because I love there's a play that stood
- 43:47out to me this week. Yeah, it was, it was he was
- 43:49going back to Gram, but just he had a big fly out in the top of
- 43:52the second to not allow the runner on 3rd to stay on 3rd.
- 43:56Now this is big to me because you're still in a, in a, in a
- 43:59stretch where you're struggling offensively even in the gram.
- 44:02Again, they had a stroke just like, yeah, like a lot of these
- 44:05a lot of times, you know, it's tough.
- 44:07It's tough to really rank the guys at times because you know
- 44:10you want to wait. You won't look at the
- 44:11production, but you also like to weigh the context with the
- 44:14struggling offense. I'm like, he made a big time
- 44:18play to get the to keep the run from scoring.
- 44:21And just like I said, no one want to play.
- 44:23But just like having him in the lineup, you just bolsters the
- 44:27the outfield the way it was supposed to be, where it was
- 44:31when the start of the season took place.
- 44:33It's tough, man. But like I get like I once
- 44:35again, I'm a ghost. Chris Stanfield around it up.
- 44:38Yeah. And I will say I went between
- 44:41Chris Anfield and Omar Sarna, but gay son of the edge for me
- 44:47is Chris Stanfield did something he never does.
- 44:51Yeah, and he misread a ball. Yeah.
- 44:54That scored him a run, put a runner in scoring position and
- 44:56scored a run and that was huge for me.
- 44:59Yeah, of course. He never does that, has that
- 45:02kind of mental mistakes. And that's what kept him off
- 45:04this week's poll. For me, totally respected.
- 45:06Totally respected. Yeah, then I'll let you go ahead
- 45:10and give your home sitting tag something, Tiger.
- 45:13Home sitting Tiger, look at like I said, man, I'm with you and
- 45:17you said it already, the entire team's top to bottom, no
- 45:20consistency anywhere. You got the guys, man, just like
- 45:24said earlier, their start. It's one thing to not have the
- 45:27ample talent, the ample coaching because there's only so much
- 45:31that could be compensated for that.
- 45:32But when you when you see the potential, the the potentials
- 45:34already flashed, you know, that's why.
- 45:37But potential it takes you so far when the bats are cold, the
- 45:40pitch is high. When just like in the like the
- 45:43Vandy series, you know, pitcher was not did not show up to
- 45:46Nashville that weekend whatsoever.
- 45:50But the offense came alive. SAC State series and the
- 45:53Oklahoma series offense took took a vacation.
- 45:57Yeah. So it's like, I don't know what
- 45:59I'm going to see this like the first time ever as long as I've
- 46:01been watching them, just like this is the first time I I on a
- 46:04consistent basis. I just don't know what I'm going
- 46:06to see on a good day basis. I'm just not.
- 46:10I don't know it's check or hive. It's almost like we're back in
- 46:13those old, those later manary years where you don't know which
- 46:18team you're going to get. You're either going to get the
- 46:20pitching team. Like I'll go back as far as
- 46:23Aaron Nola at LSU where we had tremendous pitching, zero
- 46:30offense. Aaron Nola, this was A at
- 46:34Florida win a full game and Florida walked him off and he
- 46:40lost the one line game. You know, I can't attest to that
- 46:44offense or that defense, you know, at that point.
- 46:47But pitching, you never know what you're going to get.
- 46:50You're either going to get the very offensive LSU team, but
- 46:55you're pitching LAX. And I'll say this, the eight
- 46:59games to start the season, we had a complete team.
- 47:03Yes, yes. OK let me rephrase that.
- 47:05We had a complete ish team because we still were making
- 47:09errors and stuff that kept teams in games that we should have put
- 47:13them out with a high-powered offense and a great pitching.
- 47:17Yeah, but I'm with you though, just yeah, I'm with you.
- 47:19Because it's like you had a, you were still very you more, even
- 47:23though you trailed a lot of those games, you were productive
- 47:26enough and then like you pulled away.
- 47:28Productive and you pulled away. Exactly so.
- 47:31So my tone setting Tiger of the Week is the same as wheels.
- 47:35It's the entire team. But well, his is for
- 47:39inconsistencies. Mine is you lack a mindset.
- 47:43You like a mindset and an identity.
- 47:45You don't have either. There's nothing special about
- 47:48your team energy. These LSU teams of the past,
- 47:50they might not have had the big personality, but they had a
- 47:54distinctive leadership to them. In this team lacks that
- 48:00leadership. There's no guy that I can look
- 48:02to on field that gets the big hit or does this and has that
- 48:11attitude. You know, this team likes
- 48:14attitude. They don't have it, and until
- 48:18they figure that out, we're going to keep getting a lot of
- 48:21the same results. That's right.
- 48:23You know, it only takes one guy to come out and say this is, you
- 48:26know, my, this is our team. This is our way we play.
- 48:32This is our attitude, this is how we're going to go for it.
- 48:35I think what would really help them is if they stopped, took a
- 48:38look at it, like I'll go back to the 23 team.
- 48:41When they played that SEC, after that SEC Championship, they got
- 48:47back to Baton Rouge. The first thing that Dylan Cruz,
- 48:50Paul Schemes, Gavin Duga and those guys did was Trey Morgan
- 48:56called a team meeting and told them, look, this is we need to
- 49:01do ABC better before we can win a national championship.
- 49:07And I don't think they lost the game after that until they lost
- 49:11to, or should I say got screwed out of a game with Wake Forest
- 49:17because I didn't forget. I still have the screenshots of
- 49:20that track, man, with an umpire. Screw Ty Floyd the entire game.
- 49:25But you know, they don't have that attitude.
- 49:27They don't have that team player if they I haven't heard any word
- 49:31of them call it a team meeting. And I feel like that should have
- 49:33happened after the SAC State series loss.
- 49:37You know, we need leadership. We need to be calling team
- 49:40meetings. We need to get in players only
- 49:42meetings. I should say too, not even play
- 49:47team meeting means coaches to players only meeting would solve
- 49:51a lot of issues, I feel like. But you know, we can talk about
- 49:55all of this. You know, we can do all of that,
- 49:58but what it boils down to is they need to get out there, they
- 50:03need to show up with attitude, they need to do what they need
- 50:05to do, and they need to play ball.
- 50:08Play your style of ball. You're not the 23 team, you're
- 50:10not the 25 team. You're the 20/20/16 and you're
- 50:14going to say something. No, I was going to say, I would
- 50:17say I'm so glad you said that because that's the problem
- 50:20specifically what I've seen from offense.
- 50:23It's like you have guys that are just elevating the ball so much.
- 50:27It's just like particularly Curiel and Zach York.
- 50:31I think, listen, brother, listen, listen.
- 50:33And I took and I saved all the time.
- 50:34Just I'm not so fixated on you get.
- 50:37I don't need 6 guys in 25 home runs.
- 50:42I don't need that, does it? Is it great to see a home run?
- 50:44I love seeing all, all home runs.
- 50:46But listen, that's not Derek Curiel's game.
- 50:50Your game is getting on base, getting contact on on the bat.
- 50:53Zach York, play discipline. Yeah, you had the ability to hit
- 50:56the home run, but your your strength is play discipline.
- 51:00Get on bass. Please get on bass.
- 51:03Zach York could hit as many to the Wall singles as he wants to
- 51:09as long as he's contributed and he gets on bass.
- 51:12That's that's my best. And like, you could see them
- 51:15both pressing because Carrier just plant was playing out of
- 51:18his style. Zach is just pressing like just
- 51:21listen, just get on bass. Make it easy for the pitching.
- 51:24Like you can't. You can't waste elite pitching.
- 51:27Exactly. You know, you can make parallels
- 51:31to football team. As of the last couple years
- 51:33under Shithead, we had really good offensive play, terrible
- 51:39defensive play, or we had really good defensive play.
- 51:43In terrible offensive play. We never had it.
- 51:47God forbid we had terrible special teams when the other two
- 51:50actually showed a pulse and played together for once.
- 51:54Like you just you just can't. And that's the thing man, you,
- 51:58you just can't waste the production, especially with lead
- 52:01level production, you cannot waste.
- 52:02Exactly. You can't.
- 52:05You can't waste it, you know? But on a much happier note, you
- 52:09know, I think this team will come around.
- 52:11They'll finally figure it out. And I read a few things this
- 52:14week, specifically today about our basketball team, and it
- 52:19looks like Will Wade might actually to Baton Rouge might
- 52:23actually be a possibility. Oh man, that's that is
- 52:25something. Man, that's something.
- 52:28Especially after April first, I think will Wade's buyout, if we
- 52:34have to buy him out to get him to come here, drops down by 2
- 52:37million, certainly drops down a couple million.
- 52:40You know, I think that'll be something.
- 52:43We still haven't fired McMahon yet.
- 52:45So keep in mind that it's we'll wait a bust.
- 52:49So we might still have the same team leadership as we did this
- 52:53year. But you know, we get we'll wait.
- 52:58Think about that coaches room, OK, You sitting at a table in
- 53:02that athletic department has a meeting.
- 53:04They look at their coaches, they invite their coaches to dinner
- 53:07and you get Jay Johnson, Kim Mulkey, Jay Clark, Lane Kiffin.
- 53:15So what? And we'll Wade.
- 53:18Wow, what a listen. What a wonderful time at LSU
- 53:21that would be. Yeah, You know, The thing is
- 53:23like I will say with I'm just curious to see how the will
- 53:26thing will turn out because this is a very unique LSU in terms of
- 53:31men's basketball. It's a it's a terrible we are we
- 53:33are a terrible job. It's a terrible job.
- 53:36But just this is a a unique circumstance because he's kosher
- 53:41before and you'd have like to make leadership.
- 53:44Most likely they're all going to be there at once.
- 53:46They got two guys already president but so it's a unique
- 53:49circumstance. But I'll see what happens.
- 53:51Depends on what the AC state offer.
- 53:53Is, I mean, he has he has unfinished business in Baton
- 53:56Rouge because poor leadership. Look, I'm not saying that he
- 54:02didn't do those things and he shouldn't have been fired when
- 54:06we fired him. But that year when we had the
- 54:10best chance we've had in a decade or two to actually do
- 54:16something in the NCAA Tournament, you wait till the
- 54:19NCAA tournament to suspend him and blow our chances, you know,
- 54:26and then you fire him. I mean, look, that just doesn't
- 54:29look good. Didn't leave a good taste in our
- 54:32mouths, didn't leave a good taste in his mouth.
- 54:34And I think like you said, we've got to make mistake.
- 54:39Guys who hired him. Look, he comes back.
- 54:41I think we'll we'll be fine. I think he'll get this team
- 54:44where it needs to be. I don't think we're going to
- 54:46build a new arena, have two basketball teams.
- 54:50I think we're going to want to have two basketball teams when
- 54:52we build this arena and not a one team in a rec league team,
- 55:00you know? But we'll see how that plays
- 55:04out. Hopefully by next episode we'll
- 55:05have some good news, but that'll do it from us.
- 55:08I don't have any closing remarks.
- 55:09I think LSU play really good last night against Tech.
- 55:13I think that's a good momentum builder for the rest of the
- 55:15week. Yes, for sure.
- 55:17Going in, I think Kentucky is. According to the What corn LSU,
- 55:23their number 21. They might be as high as 18,
- 55:25though. Because I did, because there's
- 55:27so many different polls. Cornell She was about 21st, but
- 55:32it might be as high as 18. I think 19 is what diamond has a
- 55:39mass and they go off of deep which you know.
- 55:42Let me see if I can find them. Shout out to Diamond Baseball
- 55:49Stats for coming out with a college baseball app.
- 55:56Completely centered college baseball app.
- 56:00You can do a bunch of things. We are not sponsored by them, by
- 56:04the way. I just found this happening on
- 56:06Twitter a couple weeks ago and found them and they have stuff
- 56:11where you can make player cards. You can look at team stats like
- 56:16I'll give you one right now for our match up on Friday, pitchers
- 56:22wise and Tucky's probable starter is Ben Cleaver.
- 56:26He's one and one 18 in the third innings pitch with a 245 ERA and
- 56:3124 case versus Casein Evans with who's 2 and O or Adra 30 innings
- 56:39pitched in 50 case and you can create a player card.
- 56:44You can check in at the games. All the stats are on this one
- 56:47page. One that I think is fun that
- 56:51I've kind of played with is can do a fantasy team, RIP packs,
- 57:01RIP packs, get players and build, put these players in
- 57:07positions on the field and get a score and a ranking each week.
- 57:11I think each game, actually, it's not each week, it's each
- 57:14game. How does like a fantasy type of
- 57:18deal, you know, but it puts everything in your hand and it
- 57:22tracks. Every college team tells you the
- 57:24radio, gives you a way to listen to them and gives you a way to
- 57:28watch them if you want to watch them, gives you updates, a
- 57:32really cool concept, a really good app.
- 57:34I'd love to. I'd love to see where they go,
- 57:36but shout out to those guys, they're really good.
- 57:39I will try to put the link to their app in the description of
- 57:43the video, but that'll do it for me.
- 57:45What you got? You got any closing thoughts?
- 57:47So like I said, just, you know, about, you know, I was pleased
- 57:51to see the performance yesterday, which was Zach
- 57:54Yorker. Hopefully that's just a size of
- 57:58things to come. Big morale booster for him.
- 58:03Yeah, just. So I'm just glad to see him get
- 58:04up and break out of that sloppy lease for the moment.
- 58:07Yeah. I'm just like I say, I'm eager
- 58:09to see what they look like against Kentucky because, you
- 58:12know, they just need a they need a series win.
- 58:15Yeah, we just got. I just got to see some
- 58:17consistency and standing this. Yeah, big series win would help
- 58:21us tremendously, especially since you were at home.
- 58:30You know, you're at home and you go on a two week.
- 58:33Let's see, I got it pulled up after this week.
- 58:37You play home versus Kentucky, then you go to Tennessee for
- 58:42Easter weekend, then you go to OPS, then you come home, play
- 58:47Texas A&M, and then you're back on the road at Mississippi State
- 58:50to finish out April, you know, and then you come home and play
- 58:54South Carolina, then you're back on the road at Athens and then
- 58:58finish the season out at home against Florida.
- 59:00So you need to get these home series wins in front of your
- 59:04home crowd on your home field, you know, so we'll see how they
- 59:07will and we'll report back each and every week and let you know
- 59:10how they do. Yes, Sir.
- 59:11And just that'll do it for me. Please like, share, subscribe,
- 59:16stream it and look, whatever you do, just have a good day, a
- 59:19great night, a great week, whatever you have, just make it
- 59:22a great one. We will see you next week.
- 59:25That's it from us later. Bye.
