- 0:20be safe for work. Hello and welcome. This is Casey Hires back at
- 0:26the Millionaire Dnist Podcast in studio with Cardigan wearing co host Jared Bridgeman. Hey,
- 0:31Casey, I like that Jack, and you've got like a farmer shirt
- 0:35on a farmer's shirt. It's kind of like, you know, a blanket
- 0:38you laid down to have a picnic on a red and white shatterned shirt a
- 0:42k. A farmer's shirt. Yes, what a compliment. I drove by
- 0:46a farm one. Gee. Thanks. Yeah. I know we've got some
- 0:50interviews today, so I had to I had to look the part. Yeah.
- 0:54Nice, very nice. Casey. You just got back into town shortly
- 0:57ago from the Florida Dental Convention. How to go? Yeah, it's Florida's
- 1:00state meeting. It's at the Gaylord Palms Resort down in cassim really really good.
- 1:07I've probably said this before. A lot of state meetings resemble a fourth
- 1:10grade science fair, sometimes a little sleepy. The Florida State meeting, which
- 1:15they call the Florida Dental Convention, it's more like a regional meeting. It
- 1:18is very well done, excellent, lots of attendance, lots of energy,
- 1:22lots of everything. They do a really really nice job. A lot of
- 1:25people really wanting to just learn more and get out and and rub elbows and
- 1:30well they have a nice pool. So there was a lot of family vacations,
- 1:33matt masts, getting some ce but no, a lot of opportunities,
- 1:37a lot of a lot of good uh, a lot of fun really.
- 1:40I mean that's what people go to those four right, they want to learn
- 1:42something. I want to see with friends, maybe sneak in a little family
- 1:45vak, have a nice meal, learned something. Um we had you had
- 1:48to speak right, Yeah. We had a nice two hour course that was
- 1:53well attended and it was it was fascinating. Our our founder says, the
- 1:57loudest cries come from the cheap seats. And there was somebody that was just
- 2:01very active with their opinions throughout the event, Questions and then you have a
- 2:07site power field defensive from what you're you're speaking on, like they think you're
- 2:12Sometimes people get that feeling they're they're being attacked, even though it's a general
- 2:15audience. I would agree with that speculation. Now, when I have a
- 2:17like a private conversation, I get some quick numbers and I'm just like wow,
- 2:23okay, and then somebody else comes up and they go, this was
- 2:27exactly It was like you were speaking to me. It was like I was
- 2:29the only one in the room. I need help. No, I'm typically
- 2:35pretty fired up about this topic. But but ultimately I got some of their
- 2:38quick numbers and it's like, you know, they're doing pretty good, um,
- 2:42compared to this other person. But their attitude was, oh wow,
- 2:46I want help this this sounds good. So anyway, a lot of good
- 2:47conversations. We took some clients out, gotta meet a lot of good people,
- 2:52and within industry, a lot of a lot of industry people. UM
- 2:55love seeing the representation from a lot of the larger companies that have used to
- 2:59have like small cities at these exhibit halls or events and now they've tamped that
- 3:02back. Um. Yeah, I gotta see a lot of a lot of
- 3:05people, a lot of fun. So you know, when you're out there
- 3:07and talking to these people at these conventions and things like that, you know,
- 3:10you've got the people who come up to you and after hearing you speak
- 3:14or have spoken to you before, they're always like, there are some people
- 3:16who know they need help or hurting. But you also have people that come
- 3:21up to you and you talk with them for a minute and they're like,
- 3:23well, dude, I'm already killing it. I'm already crushing it. What
- 3:27do you how do you what do you say to those people? How does
- 3:29that even start? Yeah? First off, we're not a rescue firm,
- 3:31right, we we we take people that have are achieved a lot of success
- 3:37and potentially plateaued and take them to the next level. But yeah, to
- 3:40your point, you know, what is what is crushing it mean to you?
- 3:46Um? But I would almost like to take it back to a different
- 3:49analogy. And we've talked about this before, but you've mentioned EGO earlier,
- 3:53right, So PGA golf, right, these golfers, Um, this is
- 3:58an individual sport on paper, Biggie goes right, big golf playing well,
- 4:03but again they have a whole team, right, Like I've had the pleasure
- 4:06of going to PGA events or Ryder Cups or these. You know, I
- 4:12spend time with the putting green or the driving range because I like to watch
- 4:15them swing. Yeah, because I've seen you try to swing. I have
- 4:18a beautiful swing. It just doesn't go where I want it to. But
- 4:21I'm amazed that they have three, four or five people with them that they're
- 4:27working on things for hours. Again, they're the best in the world,
- 4:30but yet they're working on their craft. And so this is a long answer
- 4:33to your question. But you take the guy at the local country club,
- 4:36it's a two handicap, and he thinks he's crushing it. He's really good
- 4:40at golf, right, Okay, Well, these professionals are much better than
- 4:45them, and yet they have a full team to help them get even better.
- 4:49Right, So because talent all I get you so far. Yeah.
- 4:53I think that's a good point. But to answer the rest of your question,
- 4:56what if I'm already crushing it. There's a lot of people out there
- 4:58that they're making a good amount of money. They haven't sold their soul to
- 5:01insurance. Um, they're saving a good amount. Like they feel good about
- 5:05retirement. A lot of times they live in a low cost area as well,
- 5:08and so they look at the full picture and compared there, it is
- 5:13compared to who and what, compared to their friends or you know, their
- 5:16their classmates or study club. They are crushing it. What if I'm already
- 5:20crushing it? That's the question, and and here's the short answer. It's
- 5:26it's typical here. Well, it's not abnormal for clients incomes to on many
- 5:30occasions double like that's that's kind of commonplace. So Okay, you're crushing it.
- 5:35You're you're making five fifty and you've got one practice and maybe you're saving
- 5:42eighty thousand dollars. We look at a lot of numbers. That's better than
- 5:46most. Right, what if you can make nine sixty without and without working
- 5:50any harder and save triple Yeah, because that's those are real statistics from people
- 5:56that we've had that they've come here one place and left another. So so
- 5:59that would be really crushing it. Then well, yeah, it comes down
- 6:02to, hey, I'm already crushing it. Absolutely could is there better?
- 6:05Could there be better? What's that look like? And the ego not getting
- 6:08in the way. The example of you know, the top talents, you
- 6:11know Indianapolis five hundred A racing team, right, the drivers on stage,
- 6:15the dentist. But they know that they can't do it without a team,
- 6:18internal team, external team. And so the real thing that I learned talking
- 6:23to a lot of these and there and their team mates or what you want
- 6:27to called the their team are specialists in their one particular thing they do.
- 6:30That's right, right, Yeah, like that, Like they'll have a swing
- 6:32coach, they'll have a putting coach, they'll have a you know a lot
- 6:35of different niche coaches. Um, what happens if an alligator comes up and
- 6:41bite your hand off? You're thinking about a happy guy a minute, but
- 6:46you know you're right, So and dentist practice office acts the same way.
- 6:53Hopefully you are getting people who are the best at their particular role. Yeah.
- 7:00I've said this many times. The most successful people delegate what they're not
- 7:02trained in or good at, and they find really good people that are.
- 7:06And again, you just come back to MVP's top performers in any of these
- 7:11industries, they have a team, they have people that help them. And
- 7:14so that whole what if I'm already crushing it, you know, okay,
- 7:17is the room for more? Right? Again, that the golfer. Who
- 7:21who shoots a seventy two. That's pretty darn good. But there's people out
- 7:27there can shoot a sixty five as well. And then also, you know
- 7:31by crushing it, well, what does that mean? Right? So often
- 7:34we make assumptions, how's your work life balance, how is your your your
- 7:40team or staff in the in the practice, like, what's the point of
- 7:43having lots of money if you don't have time to use it? Well?
- 7:45Yeah, there you go. No, I've talked to so many people that
- 7:47they say, I am making six hundred. I feel like I'm living month
- 7:50to month and I'm so busy trying to do this. Hopefully my kids at
- 7:55least enjoy it because I'm not. Well. It's like it's like a buddy
- 7:57of mine who after you get out of law school, got a really great
- 8:00job, you know, money wise, but they made the work eight hours
- 8:01away hours. Yeah yeah, so what's the yeah. And so that's to
- 8:05drive that point home, crushing it looks like, what, Well, work
- 8:09life balance is good, your staff or team are happy, you've got some
- 8:13good leadership, You've you've got proactive advice helping you in all these areas.
- 8:16You feel comfortable like you can take a deep breath, go for a long
- 8:20weekend to a Florida dental convention, and know that everything's right. Income,
- 8:24retirement savings and what you're church trending for net worth. Yeah, that's important,
- 8:28but that's just a part of the picture to quote unquote crushing it.
- 8:31Well, Casey, let's take you for example. I think people will look
- 8:35at you and say that you're crushing it. You're pretty, you're successful,
- 8:39you've got a you know, a great gig, you've got a nice family,
- 8:41and then you know, nice home and all that. What about you
- 8:43personally or you know, or professionally. Do you have your own coaches?
- 8:48Do you have your own team to help you where you're at now? Yeah,
- 8:52it's interesting um utilizing resources and team and different trainings even when you think
- 9:00you know a lot. Yeah, to your point, I'd say in the
- 9:05last couple of years there has been some help with training and resources and additional
- 9:09things that if my ego got in the way, I would have just kept
- 9:13doing things the same way versus learning better ways and then going wow, okay
- 9:20that makes sense, and so yeah, I know that at the times of
- 9:22keeping up with the trends and yeah, no, I think that's important.
- 9:24I mean for us, it's you know, how can we be more effective
- 9:28to have sensitive and personal conversations offline with practice owners that are effective? You
- 9:37know? And it goes this whole This whole topic I feel like works on
- 9:43every level for everybody professionally or personally. I mean if marriage counseling or or
- 9:48a therapist or a personal financial financial planner for people not in dentistry. There
- 9:54are all kinds of things that again, as you said, delegating or finding
- 9:58someone to help you through that with their expertise. I've used this one before.
- 10:03If you want to lose weight, move more, eat less, but
- 10:05yet sometimes if you have a trainer, ye, actually it happens. I
- 10:09mean people think Chris Hemsworth is killing it, but he gets he pays for
- 10:13a dietitian and an exercise guy and all that stuff to take his shirt off
- 10:16for five minutes. Is that a Hollywood hem's worth? He was thor Ah,
- 10:22there it is. Now you had that picture of them in your office.
- 10:26Yeah, now I know what. But that's the point. There's knowing
- 10:28it and there's doing it. There's unfortunately a lot of practice owners for decades
- 10:31they talk to talk and it sounds like they know what they're talking about.
- 10:35But again, what are they losing? What cost? What's crushing it looked
- 10:39like? And for we have people that say working no more than three days
- 10:43a week with this income. You know, here, here's what crushing it
- 10:46looks like to me. Okay, let's get that roadmap. So anybody that's
- 10:50told you, you know, prior to working with us that they think that
- 10:52they're crushing we're already killing it. What has been one of the biggest slap
- 10:56in the faces you've done to them to wake him up? Like, have
- 10:58you given them a yeah, it's it's it's just data, right, and
- 11:01so um employee wages true overhead. I mean really it's numbers that want to
- 11:07actually see and have a little explanation they're a little bit shocked at. Or
- 11:11it's hey, you know, congratulations, you've been saving this. You know
- 11:15you should be saving triple that. Let us show you the roadmap, let
- 11:18us show you the way. Hey, that's great that you know you have
- 11:22achieved a level of success. You know again, maybe making four hundred you
- 11:26should be making seven seven fifty And that specialist goest, Yeah, I kind
- 11:30of felt that too. But nobody's ever kind of called me on it,
- 11:33and it's just like miss messaging, mixed messaging, missed and mixed. Yeah.
- 11:37Yeah, So I think I have a little homework assignment for our listeners
- 11:41today. Um, sit, I want you to sit down and write down
- 11:46your goals. You gotta start somewhere. You can't go and talk to a
- 11:50professional or an expert. That sounds cheesy. How about what's crushing it looked
- 11:54like to me? All right? That works to you, asshole? Right
- 11:58down? What looks what's crushing it looked like to you? Um? You
- 12:03need to have a starting point um and and and uh and and a goal
- 12:07to go to, even if you don't know the roadmap yet. Yeah.
- 12:11I think that's a good Uh works for everything, works for dating, works
- 12:13for anything. You want goals at what what what does good look like?
- 12:18And actually write it down? Boy, that's a heck of an exercise.
- 12:20What do you want your practice to look like? A lot of times you
- 12:22don't want all the insurances but you're not sure how to how to change or
- 12:26or you'd like to fire twenty percent of your patients. Well is that possible?
- 12:30Yea, sometimes it is. Let's say, once you get down with
- 12:33that homework, and you and you and you really think, oh, I'm
- 12:35not really where I would like to be. I hadn't really thought about it
- 12:39in a while. Uh. Feel free to reach out to to us here
