Cork County Council is making serious strides against derelict buildings in West Cork, adding 36 more properties to the Derelict Sites Register—with Schull, Skibbereen, and Drimoleague leading the charge. Already, three sites are fully restored, 11 are underway, and 12 vacant homes have found new owners. The refurbishment grant program is booming, with 63 applications in West Cork alone and 32 approved; over 460 applications total have led to grants for more than 100 properties.
