- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's Mark Simone. Welcome to the bonus segment for
- 0:03Speaker 1: you podcast listeners. We always give you an extra show
- 0:05Speaker 1: every week. Let's see CBS News star Nora O'Donnell. I
- 0:11Speaker 1: don't know what you call her. A CBS news star.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I don't know. Can you picture anybody? Oh, that's Nora
- 0:18Speaker 1: O'Donnell over it now, I don't think so. Now, CBS
- 0:20Speaker 1: news fixture, Norah o'donald. They took her off the nightly
- 0:24Speaker 1: news and you know she was I hate to say,
- 0:29Speaker 1: it's kind of a fake news, always slanted, typical a
- 0:33Speaker 1: CBS of the last few years. So she's off that.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I guess they're stuck with her. So what are you
- 0:38Speaker 1: going to do with her? Well, they've announced this is
- 0:41Speaker 1: she's announced it. Nora O'Donnell, big new project. She's gonna
- 0:46Speaker 1: do a podcast which everybody in the world doesn't do.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You know, anybody doesn't have a podcast anymore. A new
- 0:55Speaker 1: podcast that will focus on women's health. Health. Jeez oh,
- 1:01Speaker 1: that sounds exciting. Women's health. Boy, you what an idea?
- 1:05Speaker 1: People come to me all the time with these amateurs,
- 1:07Speaker 1: with these I have an idea for a podcast women's health,
- 1:10Speaker 1: And you have to explain to them once you google
- 1:12Speaker 1: that there's already fifty thousand of those podcasts. But it's
- 1:14Speaker 1: going to be called Healthful. It makes its debut this
- 1:19Speaker 1: coming week. That says. This is her press release marking
- 1:22Speaker 1: her latest role at the network after stepping down from
- 1:26Speaker 1: the anchorchair. So you anchor the CBS Evening News. Now
- 1:30Speaker 1: you're doing a podcast nobody's going to hear. Now, listen
- 1:33Speaker 1: to this. If you don't think it's exciting, listen to
- 1:35Speaker 1: this the weekly show, which features conversations with doctors and researchers.
- 1:42Speaker 1: All right, right there, I mean, what show is going
- 1:44Speaker 1: to have on doctors and researchers. Topics include menopause, reproductive health, cancer,
- 1:52Speaker 1: the gut microbiome. This sounds like an exciting show. If
- 1:57Speaker 1: I said, hey, don't make sure you listen tomorrow we're
- 1:59Speaker 1: going to talk about gut microbiome and women's sexual health. Okay,
- 2:04Speaker 1: that part I might listen to. But otherwise, and when
- 2:07Speaker 1: it comes to anything sexual, I don't want to hear it.
- 2:10Speaker 1: With Nora O'Donnell, it doesn't work. But she's been at
- 2:12Speaker 1: the CBS for three decades, but she had quite a career.
- 2:17Speaker 1: She covered Congress, then she was the White House correspondent.
- 2:21Speaker 1: That's a big job, then anchoring the CBS News, and
- 2:25Speaker 1: now she's doing a podcast on gut Microbiome. That's a
- 2:30Speaker 1: big comedown. Hey, the New York Times is being hit
- 2:35Speaker 1: with a big, big lawsuit, a real lawsuit, for its
- 2:40Speaker 1: coverage over the last few years. Now, the bad part
- 2:43Speaker 1: of this for The New York Times is this is
- 2:45Speaker 1: coming from shareholders. A bunch of shareholders got together and
- 2:51Speaker 1: they're suing The New York Times for just bad coverage, slanted,
- 2:56Speaker 1: biased coverage. They're going to go after them for the
- 3:00Speaker 1: gram Platner coverage where they downplayed these very very serious
- 3:04Speaker 1: allegations and tried to, you know, sweep them under the rug.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So this is shareholders going after them. Then they're going
- 3:11Speaker 1: after them for the Nicholas Christoff Remember this awful, awful
- 3:17Speaker 1: Times writer Nicholas Christoff wrote this horrible piece claiming that
- 3:21Speaker 1: Israeli soldiers were raping prisoners. I mean, there was absolutely
- 3:25Speaker 1: no truth to this, but The Times printed this disgusting
- 3:29Speaker 1: anti Semite stood by it. Allegations of all kinds of
- 3:32Speaker 1: sexual abuse in Israeli detention centers. But The New York
- 3:36Speaker 1: Times has a history for decades and decades of anti semitism.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I mean, they covered up the Holocaust. So this will
- 3:43Speaker 1: be interesting because these are shareholders. It's hard for a
- 3:47Speaker 1: court to really even throw this out because they're actual shareholders.
- 3:51Speaker 1: That gives them standing. They're suing the paper for violating
- 3:55Speaker 1: the normal guidelines of journalism, and this is not going
- 3:59Speaker 1: to be good for them. This is going to be
- 4:01Speaker 1: a problem. Now. Of course, it's the fake news media
- 4:03Speaker 1: all over the place that they won't cover the lawsuit,
- 4:06Speaker 1: but you certainly you'll certainly hear about it from us. Hey,
- 4:10Speaker 1: a new poll comes out which flags the people salute
- 4:13Speaker 1: the most. Obviously, the American flag wins hands down with conservatives,
- 4:21Speaker 1: but with Democrats seventy four percent. The flag they love
- 4:25Speaker 1: the most the Black Lives Matter flag. That's the flag
- 4:28Speaker 1: they salute. Remember Black Lives Matter. It was right after
- 4:31Speaker 1: George Floyd. Black Lives Matter was being painted all over
- 4:34Speaker 1: the streets, signs everywhere, banners. It was run by a
- 4:38Speaker 1: few people. Turned out they were just cashing in, buying
- 4:40Speaker 1: mansions and spending the money on trips and all that.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But the Democrats, it's still a big deal. Hey, Bill Maher,
- 4:49Speaker 1: who's a Democrat, pointing out that Democrats won't come on
- 4:54Speaker 1: a show. Now. Bill Maher's a Democrat, he's a liberal,
- 4:59Speaker 1: but he's been trying to get AOC on. She refuses
- 5:02Speaker 1: to do the show. Kamala Harris will not do the
- 5:05Speaker 1: show now for these two nitwits, I can see not
- 5:10Speaker 1: wanting to talk to Bill Maher. He's a brilliant guy.
- 5:12Speaker 1: He's very, very, very smart. He can out talk them out,
- 5:16Speaker 1: debate them. They can't dodge the questions. So AOC Kamala Harris,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I can understand that. But Mom Donnies or On Mom Dommy,
- 5:25Speaker 1: who's a very smart, fast talking, glib guy, has refused
- 5:29Speaker 1: to do the show, mar pointing out he's tried to
- 5:31Speaker 1: get Mom Dommy for six months. He absolutely refuses to
- 5:36Speaker 1: do the show. Now, when it looks like everybody's leaving
- 5:39Speaker 1: New York City, everybody's fleeing businesses moving, guess who's opening
- 5:43Speaker 1: up a huge office here AIRB and B Airbnb. You
- 5:48Speaker 1: know it's a huge company, Airbnb. It's based in San Francisco.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Airbnb makes billions and billions of dollars. But they just
- 5:57Speaker 1: bought a building here in New York, Gramercy Park neighborhood.
- 6:03Speaker 1: They just spent eighty one million for this building. It's
- 6:06Speaker 1: forty two thousand square feet, beautiful old building. But it's
- 6:10Speaker 1: going to be a major headquarters here in New York.
- 6:12Speaker 1: They didn't have to come to New York, but a
- 6:14Speaker 1: major headquarters here. They'll have six hundred employees in that building.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So that's good news for New York City. Hey, the View,
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know there's crazy nutshubs on the View. You got
- 6:26Speaker 1: Sonny Houston, one of those lunatics on the View. Now,
- 6:31Speaker 1: the way this works, you've got on both sides of
- 6:33Speaker 1: the aisle, you got your high brow shows and your
- 6:36Speaker 1: lowbrow shows. You got, you know, on the liberal side,
- 6:40Speaker 1: the high IQ show would be Rachel maddowur the PBS
- 6:44Speaker 1: News Hover. That's your high brow, high IQ liberal show.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Then you got your low IQ shows. You know, like
- 6:52Speaker 1: the View is a low IQ show. The same thing.
- 6:54Speaker 1: On the right, you got the high IQ shows and
- 6:56Speaker 1: you got like the Alex Jones low IQ show. So
- 7:00Speaker 1: the View, Sonny Houston apparently said forget not like in
- 7:07Speaker 1: the American flag, she said she doesn't feel safe if
- 7:10Speaker 1: she sees an American flag. Got a lot of flag
- 7:13Speaker 1: for it, but she said it again. She actually doubled
- 7:15Speaker 1: down on it. She does not feel safe if she
- 7:19Speaker 1: sees an American flag. In fact, if there's a neighborhood
- 7:22Speaker 1: with a lot of American flags, she feels totally unsafe. Now,
- 7:27Speaker 1: this is the kind of a nutty things that go
- 7:29Speaker 1: on in this crazy show. If you've never seen the view,
- 7:32Speaker 1: watch it. You'll be stunned that anybody would broadcast this nonsense. Hey, now,
- 7:37Speaker 1: how crazy are these Taylor Swift fans, you know, getting
- 7:40Speaker 1: all excited about the wedding Madison Square Garden. Well, this
- 7:46Speaker 1: is about as crazy as you can get. So some
- 7:49Speaker 1: smart entrepreneur, after the wedding is all over and they've
- 7:55Speaker 1: left Madison Square Garden, like the next day, this guy
- 7:58Speaker 1: goes to the garbage cans and the dumpsters all around
- 8:01Speaker 1: Madison Square Garden. As they took down everything from the wedding,
- 8:05Speaker 1: a lot of it goes in the trash in the dumpsters.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So this guy fished it all out of these dumpsters.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It's the garbage from the Tailor Swift wedding. So this
- 8:15Speaker 1: guy capitalized on it by packaging the garbage. He put
- 8:21Speaker 1: it into like a little two inch by three inch
- 8:25Speaker 1: containers and sells them for twenty five dollars a pop.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You're buying the actual garbage from the Taylor Swift wedding
- 8:32Speaker 1: twenty five dollars a pop. Don't laugh. He sold thirteen
- 8:36Speaker 1: hundred of them. He got orders from all around the world,
- 8:39Speaker 1: from thirty countries for selling the garbage from Taylor Swift's wedding.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You know, Las Vegas is having a lot of trouble.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Las Vegas tourism is way down. Las Vegas doesn't know
- 8:52Speaker 1: what to do. You know, years ago, you know, first
- 8:56Speaker 1: days of Las Vegas, in the fifties, mid fifties, early fifties,
- 9:01Speaker 1: Las Vegas the whole theme was Western. You know, the
- 9:04Speaker 1: big hotels were the al Rancho, the Frontier. When you
- 9:08Speaker 1: went into the hotels, everybody was dressed in the gun smoke.
- 9:11Speaker 1: They were wearing like Miss Kitty outfits and you know,
- 9:15Speaker 1: cowboy outfits, Western theme. And it continued that way until
- 9:20Speaker 1: the mid fifties. And it was very casual, like country
- 9:24Speaker 1: western kind of Las Vegas. And it was Sinatra who
- 9:28Speaker 1: changed it because all these gangsters running and this is
- 9:31Speaker 1: what they figured. It's in the desert, we'll make it
- 9:33Speaker 1: look like a cowboy thing. Sinatra was a huge star
- 9:37Speaker 1: by then, traveling all over the world, and he came
- 9:39Speaker 1: back from Europe and from Monte Carlo, and he told
- 9:43Speaker 1: these guys, he said, you got it all wrong. You
- 9:45Speaker 1: should see Monte Carlo casinos. They're elegant, they're fancy. Everybody's
- 9:49Speaker 1: wearing tuxedos, and this is what you got to do.
- 9:51Speaker 1: So that's when Las Vegas switched the whole theme. In
- 9:54Speaker 1: the late fifties, they quickly transitioned over to fancy, elegant
- 9:58Speaker 1: suits and ties, the matrix and tuxedos, the women wearing
- 10:03Speaker 1: beautiful dresses. It was very elegant, fancy, ritzy, and that's
- 10:06Speaker 1: when the rat pack era came in and cash in
- 10:09Speaker 1: on that, and then that went through most of the sixties,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and by the late sixties that rat pack era was gone,
- 10:15Speaker 1: so Las Vegas transitioned to the De Niro Joe Peshi
- 10:20Speaker 1: casino kind of look. So then it looked like that
- 10:23Speaker 1: for a while, with the leisure suits and all that,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and then that died, and then in the eighties it
- 10:28Speaker 1: went all family. It was like Disneyland. It was all
- 10:30Speaker 1: family stuff and amusement parks, and instead of big names
- 10:34Speaker 1: in the showrooms, like circus, solet circus this, circus that,
- 10:39Speaker 1: and it's been that way for a long time, but
- 10:41Speaker 1: apparently that's dying, so they didn't know what to do
- 10:44Speaker 1: with Las Vegas. Business is way down, so they're transitioning
- 10:47Speaker 1: back to super luxurious and elegant, and to do that,
- 10:51Speaker 1: they've raised the prices like crazy. There's a lot of
- 10:55Speaker 1: the restaurants in the hotels now there. This used to
- 10:57Speaker 1: be so cheap, those restaurants, but they brought in all
- 10:59Speaker 1: the time up famous chefs of the world. A lot
- 11:02Speaker 1: of these restaurants are now one thousand dollars per person,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and tourism is way down. It's dropping like fifteen twenty
- 11:09Speaker 1: percent a year because a lot of people don't want
- 11:11Speaker 1: to deal with this anymore. A bottle of water in
- 11:14Speaker 1: the mini bar twenty six dollars at hotels, cup of
- 11:18Speaker 1: coffee in the hotels like twenty dollars. I mean, they're
- 11:20Speaker 1: going crazy with this, chasing a lot of people out.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But the MGM Grand And now has the famous French
- 11:26Speaker 1: chef Robashan, so again this is not family stuff. The
- 11:30Speaker 1: new Fountain Blue opened, which is huge, by the way,
- 11:34Speaker 1: the new Fountain Blue is almost four thousand rooms, but
- 11:37Speaker 1: it's a whole new Las Vegas. A lot of people
- 11:39Speaker 1: don't like it, running away from it like crazy. So
- 11:44Speaker 1: Bill Gates we mentioned during the week, Warren Buffett has
- 11:47Speaker 1: kind of cut him off. They used to be friends,
- 11:50Speaker 1: Buffett putting a fortune into the Gates Foundation. No more,
- 11:54Speaker 1: he's took his money away, and even gates ex wife Melinda,
- 11:58Speaker 1: who divorced him, now speaking out that it was definitely Epstein.
- 12:02Speaker 1: She thought he was the most evil, creepy guy she'd
- 12:04Speaker 1: ever seen, and when she found out her husband was
- 12:07Speaker 1: spending all that time there, she couldn't deal with it.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And she said, the first time she saw Epstein, she said,
- 12:13Speaker 1: have you ever just seen somebody you just instantly know
- 12:16Speaker 1: is evil? Just totally evil. The fact that her husband
- 12:19Speaker 1: couldn't see it, and the fact that her husband kept
- 12:21Speaker 1: going over there to that house for eight hours at
- 12:24Speaker 1: a time, so that was the end. She just said,
- 12:29Speaker 1: the relationship ended as soon as he got tangled with Epstein.
- 12:32Speaker 1: She couldn't stay with him anymore. She had a bad
- 12:35Speaker 1: feeling about this guy since she was right all along.
- 12:37Speaker 1: She met him once and never would go near him again.
- 12:41Speaker 1: So she said, she can't believe that anybody else, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 1: these top business guys of the world, these famous college presidents, politicians,
- 12:49Speaker 1: that they wouldn't have seen how creepy was the second
- 12:52Speaker 1: they saw him. She said, if they didn't, something is
- 12:54Speaker 1: wrong with these people. Absolutely right. Hey, anyway, thanks for listening.
- 12:59Speaker 1: This has been the bonus segment of the podcast. I'm
- 13:04Speaker 1: usually I'm on live every weekday from ten to noon.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Otherwise the podcast, as you know, Mark Simone here, Thanks
- 13:12Speaker 1: for listening.
