- 0:00Speaker 1: M H. Welcome to The Favorites, the podcast from the
- 0:13Speaker 1: Action Network. I am Chad Millman. It's big day because
- 0:20Speaker 1: we are coming out of a crazy, crazy weekend of
- 0:23Speaker 1: college basketball, We're coming out of a big opening week
- 0:28Speaker 1: for Major League Baseball. We are heading into the NBA Playoffs,
- 0:33Speaker 1: and we're going to do it all with one of
- 0:36Speaker 1: my besties in the world, Mr Bob Scoochee. It's in
- 1:00Speaker 1: aspiring for that morning. What's going on. I haven't heard
- 1:04Speaker 1: that song in a while. Boy, that that sounds nice. Yeah,
- 1:08Speaker 1: you know why you haven't heard it in a while
- 1:09Speaker 1: because you've been ignoring us and avoiding us. And you're
- 1:13Speaker 1: just waiting bedtime now. Not intentionally, I've just been, uh
- 1:19Speaker 1: be pretty busy. Here's how much you're ignoring us and
- 1:23Speaker 1: avoiding us. Uh, As everybody knows. The Action Network DeCamp
- 1:27Speaker 1: for Las Vegas for the opening around of the n
- 1:29Speaker 1: C Double A Tournament, and we had a big, big
- 1:32Speaker 1: bash at Mabel's at the Palms the Wednesday night before
- 1:37Speaker 1: the tournament began, and it was a crazy fun event
- 1:40Speaker 1: and we were a capacity all night and had a
- 1:42Speaker 1: line out the door. And I had texted Scooch and said, hey,
- 1:46Speaker 1: it'd be great to see you when I come to Vegas. Um,
- 1:49Speaker 1: why don't you come to the event? And uh, I
- 1:53Speaker 1: got no response, none at all. And the next day, Uh,
- 1:59Speaker 1: I think I texted you in said hey, what's going on? No,
- 2:02Speaker 1: this is before I said, hey, what's going on? Do
- 2:03Speaker 1: you want to come tonight? And you go, what's happening?
- 2:06Speaker 1: Where is it? I just go look at the text above. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:13Speaker 1: that was my bad. That was just crazy that whole week.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You know, you know I had to get a room
- 2:21Speaker 1: at the at the property because I had to get
- 2:24Speaker 1: up at three o'clock in the morning. I had to
- 2:26Speaker 1: do some some local media from like three a m.
- 2:29Speaker 1: To six, and then that night people were coming in
- 2:32Speaker 1: getting ready for the tournament. It was just it was
- 2:34Speaker 1: just insane. So it was more important to do local
- 2:40Speaker 1: media than doing national media that has a much bigger audience. Well,
- 2:47Speaker 1: this was already pre planned. I already had the commitment. Uh,
- 2:50Speaker 1: what has more plan of this podcast? Scoots? We've been
- 2:53Speaker 1: doing this podcast for like five to seven years, every
- 2:58Speaker 1: single we Yeah, sorry about that, Well, how about how
- 3:06Speaker 1: about you. I traveled all the way to Washington, d C.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I don't even realize that you're at the h the
- 3:12Speaker 1: Executive Summit there. I had to read your name on
- 3:14Speaker 1: a program. I didn't even know you were there. Well,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I didn't know you were going to be there. You're
- 3:18Speaker 1: referring to The American Gaming Association actually had an amazing
- 3:23Speaker 1: event last week in d C or outside dc UM
- 3:26Speaker 1: and they they sort of made it a very exclusive
- 3:28Speaker 1: event where they only invited a couple hundred people for
- 3:32Speaker 1: these two days of panels, and they had some really
- 3:33Speaker 1: high end people there. Um. They had Gary Bettman there,
- 3:36Speaker 1: they had Ted leons Is there. Dan Revell moderated a
- 3:40Speaker 1: panel with a bunch of executives including Jason Robbins from
- 3:44Speaker 1: DraftKings and Joe Asher from Willie who runs William Hill.
- 3:48Speaker 1: They literally almost got into a fight. That was great.
- 3:51Speaker 1: That was That was probably it was the last panel
- 3:54Speaker 1: of the event, but it was. It was certainly the
- 3:57Speaker 1: most exciting. It was almost like I encourage anybody just
- 4:01Speaker 1: to go look Google like Joe ash Er Jason Robbins
- 4:05Speaker 1: a g A summit and you will see two guys
- 4:07Speaker 1: who almost like these panels. Normally, these panels are like
- 4:11Speaker 1: people giving very canned answers. It's not very candid conversation.
- 4:14Speaker 1: The A g A did a really nice job and
- 4:16Speaker 1: they actually had some great conversations in these panels. But
- 4:19Speaker 1: Darren himself in the middle of this panel was like,
- 4:22Speaker 1: this is the best panel of the conference because he
- 4:25Speaker 1: almost had to come between Joe and Jason, who had
- 4:27Speaker 1: such a seething tension that they literally there was almost
- 4:32Speaker 1: a fight. Yeah. I mean there's some history there, you know,
- 4:35Speaker 1: with the Draft Kings and William Hill and when DraftKings
- 4:39Speaker 1: was trying to get into the state of Nevada as
- 4:42Speaker 1: the daily fantasy sites, there was some discussion as to
- 4:45Speaker 1: whether or not they were considered gambling, and I think
- 4:48Speaker 1: that discussion went on on all over the country at
- 4:50Speaker 1: that time. So it was pretty good, pretty good conversation there.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It was good. You know what else was good? What
- 4:58Speaker 1: the college basketball games this weeken They were great, they
- 5:01Speaker 1: were they were exciting. On Saturday night, Perdue had it
- 5:08Speaker 1: was it Saturday night. Yeah, Perdue had a nine seven
- 5:10Speaker 1: percent chance to cover as four and a half point
- 5:16Speaker 1: dogs um and with seventeen seconds left against Virginia, chance
- 5:26Speaker 1: to cover seventeen seconds left. Yeah, that's how that's how
- 5:31Speaker 1: you make money and in game weight, in game waging.
- 5:34Speaker 1: By the way, you get those big underdogs. That's what
- 5:37Speaker 1: you have to love about sports is that you get
- 5:40Speaker 1: just all these unexpected uh results, and now within game wagering,
- 5:45Speaker 1: you can kind of capitalize on that stuff. Tell me
- 5:49Speaker 1: how that was working for you on that game. I
- 5:51Speaker 1: had the over in that game, uh and I had Virginia.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So it didn't work out. It worked out, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: that kind of came out even But tell me what
- 6:02Speaker 1: was happening for you in that game? Um, it wasn't
- 6:06Speaker 1: It wasn't a great result. I mean, you know, we
- 6:08Speaker 1: were bouncing around four and a half and five, four
- 6:11Speaker 1: and a half and five a little bit and even
- 6:14Speaker 1: down to four at one point, but so so you
- 6:18Speaker 1: never want that much movement on a big game like that.
- 6:21Speaker 1: But uh, and of course you know the game game
- 6:24Speaker 1: following five wasn't the greatest results, but there was just
- 6:28Speaker 1: so much parlay action on both sides that we kind
- 6:32Speaker 1: of did. Okay, it was the next game that really
- 6:36Speaker 1: kind of made the day for us. But but just
- 6:39Speaker 1: listening to the to the crowd that back and forth
- 6:43Speaker 1: during that game, it was just so so exciting. In
- 6:47Speaker 1: the sports book, God, it was amazing. My favorite part
- 6:51Speaker 1: of it was Carson Edwards sort of winking and smiling
- 6:55Speaker 1: at the kid from Virginia who hit the game winning
- 6:58Speaker 1: shot at the end, like, you know, just acknowledgement and
- 7:01Speaker 1: a recognition of how awesome that was. Yeah, now you know.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I mean sentimentally, I mean, after what happened in Virginia
- 7:10Speaker 1: in the first round of the n C Double A
- 7:12Speaker 1: Tournament last year, I kind of wanted to see them
- 7:15Speaker 1: get over the hump. And you can see them struggling
- 7:18Speaker 1: a little bit with some probably undue pressure in the
- 7:21Speaker 1: first couple of games of their four games that they
- 7:25Speaker 1: struggled in a couple of them that you can see
- 7:28Speaker 1: that kind of pressure, uh, kind of weighing down. I
- 7:31Speaker 1: think the pressure is off them now that that they
- 7:33Speaker 1: feel like they've they've gotten to the final four. Now
- 7:36Speaker 1: they're kind of free rolling, uh, and now they could
- 7:39Speaker 1: kind of live up to the potential that this team
- 7:41Speaker 1: really has. I disagree. I don't think when you're a
- 7:44Speaker 1: number one seed and you've you've lost, uh, and you've
- 7:48Speaker 1: been a number one seed that lost to a sixteen seed,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I agree they've gotten over that hump, but they are
- 7:53Speaker 1: now the only number one seed left in the final four, Like,
- 7:56Speaker 1: there is no free role that comes when you were
- 8:00Speaker 1: the only remaining number one seed. And so this is
- 8:04Speaker 1: a team that like has struggled in the attorney, They
- 8:09Speaker 1: struggled against Gardner Webb, they struggled against Oregon, they needed
- 8:12Speaker 1: a miracle to be perdue. So now they all go
- 8:15Speaker 1: up against an Auburn team that is red red hat
- 8:20Speaker 1: like just amazingly hot. That is true. Yeah, they'll catch
- 8:25Speaker 1: him at the worst time. But but I mean, and
- 8:29Speaker 1: you've got you know, you've got an Auburn team that
- 8:31Speaker 1: just loves to run the floor, and then you've got
- 8:33Speaker 1: a Virginia team that just relies on that that grind defense.
- 8:38Speaker 1: And I think you have the slowest tempo of of
- 8:41Speaker 1: any team that plays. And so it's gonna be, uh,
- 8:44Speaker 1: it's gonna be great to watch those two forces come together.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I think Virginia is going to be able to just
- 8:49Speaker 1: kind of limit the number of possessions. And I really
- 8:53Speaker 1: think that this is Virginia's game. You do what I
- 8:57Speaker 1: think had the run? Wow, do you think that's because
- 9:02Speaker 1: of that guy who's out, like the guy who got hurt?
- 9:04Speaker 1: That that's part of it too, And and uh, I
- 9:09Speaker 1: really think that this is Uh, well, I mean it's
- 9:12Speaker 1: reflected in kind of our linemaking too, So you know,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I just uh, I mean, we're we're at five and
- 9:21Speaker 1: a half on the game, and we're taking a ton
- 9:22Speaker 1: of Auburn mind. So for for our sake, I hope
- 9:25Speaker 1: we're right. Yeah, So tell me about that number. You
- 9:28Speaker 1: opened it five and a half. Uh, Like you said,
- 9:31Speaker 1: you're taking a ton of Auburn money right now, uh,
- 9:34Speaker 1: sent of the money and of the bets are coming
- 9:39Speaker 1: in on Auburn. Give me a feeling of like, why
- 9:42Speaker 1: are you feeling so good about Virginia? What in your
- 9:44Speaker 1: rankings tells you that that in your ratings tells you
- 9:47Speaker 1: that Virginia is the right side here. Well, like, like
- 9:50Speaker 1: I said, I mean, look at the last two seasons.
- 9:53Speaker 1: You know, we're not We're not going to just get
- 9:55Speaker 1: off of our rankings just based on a couple of
- 9:58Speaker 1: games that that Auburn. You know, Auburn is playing their
- 10:01Speaker 1: best as you just said, they're red hot. So we're
- 10:03Speaker 1: not just gonna suddenly lower Virginia's rankings because Auburn is
- 10:07Speaker 1: playing so well. I mean, that's what just the numbers.
- 10:10Speaker 1: We have to just stay true to what those numbers
- 10:12Speaker 1: were going into the tournament. During the tournament, and and now,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and we know it's gonna be a little inflated in
- 10:18Speaker 1: the public's mind because they're seeing these two teams as equals,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you know, both arriving at this same uh point. Uh
- 10:26Speaker 1: when you get to the final four that uh you know,
- 10:28Speaker 1: there really shouldn't be so such prohibitive favorites. But you know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think in this case, uh, Virginia is and uh
- 10:37Speaker 1: five and a half. We know the public is gonna
- 10:39Speaker 1: take the dog. They took the dog in both the
- 10:42Speaker 1: games on Sunday. Uh. And like I've been saying for
- 10:46Speaker 1: the last couple of years, I think in any big
- 10:48Speaker 1: game now you're starting to see the betting public favor
- 10:52Speaker 1: the underdogs a little bit more than they do the favorites.
- 10:55Speaker 1: We've been seeing that trend for for quite a while now,
- 10:58Speaker 1: where they're betting the favorites during the regular season, but
- 11:01Speaker 1: the deeper you get into the playoffs and particularly championship games,
- 11:04Speaker 1: they feel like, if the team is good enough to
- 11:06Speaker 1: get to this point, they can certainly win the game.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And if you're gonna give us five and a half points,
- 11:11Speaker 1: we'll just take the points. And and uh, you know,
- 11:13Speaker 1: hope the team either win straight up or covers. This
- 11:20Speaker 1: was a fascinating weekend. Also, actually, before I get onto that,
- 11:26Speaker 1: which is the most public team in the final four
- 11:28Speaker 1: right now, it's probably uh, it's probably still still Virginia. Um,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I mean Texas Tech. Everybody just kind of uh jumping
- 11:41Speaker 1: on the bandwagon with them, and they see that it's
- 11:44Speaker 1: just a great kind of underdog story to catch a
- 11:47Speaker 1: couple of points and get some upsets, and they feel
- 11:50Speaker 1: like that that team is a live dog too. Uh.
- 11:53Speaker 1: You know, Michigan State has been that that steady powerhouse
- 11:56Speaker 1: all year. So I would say if I had to
- 11:59Speaker 1: rank in terms of public of teams right now before,
- 12:01Speaker 1: it would be Virginia, Michigan State, Um, Auburn would be
- 12:05Speaker 1: a tough, tight third, and then men Texas Tech. Yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I'm surprised at like Auburn isn't getting more public love
- 12:14Speaker 1: than say a Virginia team or a Michigan State team.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I guess Michigan State. But given what they did beating Kentucky,
- 12:20Speaker 1: beating North Carolina, like this Auburn team just came through
- 12:24Speaker 1: like a whip saw. You know. They really just like
- 12:28Speaker 1: inspired people with the way they were playing. If there's
- 12:31Speaker 1: any sort of Cinderella team in here, it's got to
- 12:33Speaker 1: be Auburn in terms of the way they have sort
- 12:36Speaker 1: of a flare and drama character and like there's an
- 12:39Speaker 1: aura around them right now. There's actually really different than
- 12:43Speaker 1: Texas Tech. Texas Tech doesn't have that same aura. Are
- 12:46Speaker 1: they getting the same kind of betting activity? No? No,
- 12:50Speaker 1: they're not. And so in this one, Uh, I mean
- 12:52Speaker 1: the betting is going to be pretty pretty even. Um,
- 12:56Speaker 1: so I think our day is really going to be
- 12:57Speaker 1: decided by that, uh, Auburn Virginia game more so than
- 13:01Speaker 1: than Texas Tech. Um slightly heavier on Michigan State, both
- 13:05Speaker 1: in money and ticket count. Um, that'll probably even out
- 13:08Speaker 1: a little bit. It's like I said, public just kind
- 13:12Speaker 1: of bet both dogs on game day. But uh, but
- 13:15Speaker 1: that one's a lot more closely competitive in terms of
- 13:18Speaker 1: bets than Auburn Virginia. So Auburn, Texas Tech, Virginia, Michigan State.
- 13:28Speaker 1: What does that do for betting interest and betting handle
- 13:33Speaker 1: compared to Kentucky Duke Virginia And uh, I don't know
- 13:42Speaker 1: who else could have made it? Gonzaga, Gonzaga, Well, you
- 13:46Speaker 1: know here here on the West Coast, we we really
- 13:48Speaker 1: do have a big Gonzaga contingency. Uh And we've just
- 13:53Speaker 1: kind of noticed, especially um at our properties because we've
- 13:57Speaker 1: hosted the West Coast Conference tournament for so many years.
- 14:00Speaker 1: When Gonzaga is in it, we get an uptick at
- 14:02Speaker 1: some of our properties, particularly the Orleans and the Gold Coast.
- 14:06Speaker 1: So uh So, I guess we would have preferred Gonzaga,
- 14:10Speaker 1: But I guess if you had to look at the
- 14:12Speaker 1: entire Strip or Nevada, it probably won't make too much
- 14:15Speaker 1: of a difference. We'll get some people that have interest
- 14:17Speaker 1: because there's some new blood in the tournament. Um. I
- 14:21Speaker 1: think just because the blue bloods aren't necessarily in it,
- 14:24Speaker 1: it doesn't always translate into more money. When they're in it.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Maybe viewership would be up, but the viewership doesn't always
- 14:30Speaker 1: translate into more bets. You know. It's so interesting you
- 14:34Speaker 1: say that because we were just having this debate, like, like,
- 14:39Speaker 1: would the tournament be getting more attention from betters if
- 14:44Speaker 1: it's got a Virginia Commonwealth or a George Mason that
- 14:48Speaker 1: sort of gets through the Sweet sixteen and into even
- 14:52Speaker 1: into the Elite eight um because it generates more excitement
- 14:56Speaker 1: and like brings in a bigger audience than the same
- 14:58Speaker 1: people who are following college basketball and betting on college
- 15:01Speaker 1: basketball all year long, and no one pays attention to
- 15:04Speaker 1: it anyways. So like, just because these are the teams
- 15:06Speaker 1: in the Final four, like, no one's gonna care because
- 15:09Speaker 1: they're not paying attention to him. When Duken whoever plays
- 15:13Speaker 1: in Virginia plays in the middle of February. Yeah, you know,
- 15:17Speaker 1: I don't think you can actually generalize it anymore. I
- 15:19Speaker 1: think you know, like when you see New England Patriots
- 15:22Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl and you think, okay, it's great
- 15:24Speaker 1: to have a you know, a David and Goliath, but
- 15:28Speaker 1: it's sometimes people just get tired of the same old
- 15:31Speaker 1: teams there and uh and they'll you know, Duke in
- 15:34Speaker 1: Kentucky and North Carolina, you know, are great for people
- 15:38Speaker 1: following those teams. They know those teams recognizable. Uh, there's
- 15:42Speaker 1: also that kind of element that they're they're tired of
- 15:44Speaker 1: seeing them. And you see a little bit of an
- 15:47Speaker 1: uptick when you get a team like Loyal of Chicago
- 15:49Speaker 1: or a few years ago of Virginia Common Commonwealth or
- 15:53Speaker 1: or uh, you know, a Butler, and that kind of
- 15:56Speaker 1: generates that kind of you you want to see them
- 16:00Speaker 1: overthrow the big guys, you know, see the little guy
- 16:02Speaker 1: be be to Kentucky. So um, I don't. I don't
- 16:06Speaker 1: think it you can just really generalize it like that.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I agree. I think it's actually bad for the tournament
- 16:13Speaker 1: when you don't get the butlers and the loolas and
- 16:15Speaker 1: sort of that overarching story. And I feel like Auburn
- 16:18Speaker 1: in Texas Tech, they're sort of they're not big enough
- 16:22Speaker 1: Cinderella's uh to really generate excitement. They're like schools that
- 16:26Speaker 1: people have kind of heard of, but they don't have
- 16:29Speaker 1: that sort of sister gene quality to them that is
- 16:32Speaker 1: going to bring in more people that are gonna be like,
- 16:34Speaker 1: oh my god, I can't believe it's the story of
- 16:37Speaker 1: the century. This school is part warming, you know, blah
- 16:40Speaker 1: blah blah. Yeah. And from a betting perspective, I think
- 16:44Speaker 1: what generates a little more handle is when there's a
- 16:47Speaker 1: big points bread involved, because it adds you know, Okay,
- 16:50Speaker 1: well they may not win the game, but if they're
- 16:52Speaker 1: getting seven and a half or eight points or nine points, uh,
- 16:56Speaker 1: that oftentimes generates a little bit more handled too. And
- 16:59Speaker 1: it's particularly if the money line is bigger. Uh, and
- 17:02Speaker 1: now you're uh, you know you're gonna get plus two
- 17:05Speaker 1: fifty or plus three dollars on an underdog. Now there's
- 17:09Speaker 1: a whole another betting element where it's not just an
- 17:11Speaker 1: even money bet. Now I can get three to one
- 17:13Speaker 1: on my money. Um. I've often seen when when we
- 17:16Speaker 1: get teams that are just to pick them, that it
- 17:18Speaker 1: kind of inhibits the betting a little bit. There. You know,
- 17:21Speaker 1: you've taken the money line element out of the betting
- 17:23Speaker 1: picture completely. Now you're just picking the winner. It's like
- 17:26Speaker 1: you've eliminated in an entire market in the betting. We're
- 17:31Speaker 1: in a perfect storm element of like bad scenario for
- 17:36Speaker 1: excitement around the final four this weekend. Not to be
- 17:38Speaker 1: a Debbie downer. Why is it the perfect storm? It's like,
- 17:46Speaker 1: I don't know, middling teams, it's point spreads that aren't
- 17:50Speaker 1: so big. Um yeah I don't know. Yeah, yeah, but
- 17:57Speaker 1: you know, I think but you have all the powerhouse
- 17:59Speaker 1: uh conferences represent it, which is you know, or at
- 18:03Speaker 1: least most of them, you know, for you've you've got
- 18:06Speaker 1: kind of a nice little mix of region. Um, you know,
- 18:09Speaker 1: the West Coast isn't isn't represented there. But you know
- 18:14Speaker 1: you've got a nice mix of regions. All right, sign,
- 18:18Speaker 1: what's your biggest liability right now? Auburn Virginia by far?
- 18:24Speaker 1: What about Oh, you don't have like for future but
- 18:26Speaker 1: for future bets? Yeah? Um, probably Texas Tech. Um. And
- 18:36Speaker 1: it's not it's not terrible. I mean, we're gonna we're
- 18:39Speaker 1: gonna win money on any on all of them, and
- 18:42Speaker 1: we're not gonna lose money on any of them. But
- 18:44Speaker 1: Texas Tech is the one that we win the least
- 18:47Speaker 1: amount of money on. What did they open the season at?
- 18:53Speaker 1: I want to say thirty five or forty? That's it.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I'd have to check that. I know that's where most
- 19:03Speaker 1: of our liabilities at. So m interesting Texas Text. What
- 19:10Speaker 1: should they have been? Hundred? Yeah, I'm thinking a hundred.
- 19:15Speaker 1: They might have been a hundred. I didn't check, to
- 19:17Speaker 1: be honest, I just know that there's no way, there
- 19:19Speaker 1: is no way, Scooch, you opened Texas Tech at thirty
- 19:23Speaker 1: five or a team at Yeah. No, you're right, I'm
- 19:29Speaker 1: that's where That's where all of our liabilities at. That's
- 19:33Speaker 1: where most of the big bets came in. So as
- 19:36Speaker 1: I'm looking at it. Uh Ah, Now, we're talking. Yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 1: but but but most of the big bets came in
- 19:51Speaker 1: and it looks like probably late January early February, and
- 19:58Speaker 1: that's where most of the lib the kind of kind
- 20:01Speaker 1: of kicked in. Did you take any thousand dollar bets
- 20:06Speaker 1: on Texas Tech at No? No, we hardly pick any
- 20:16Speaker 1: what what did Auburn open at? Um? I don't have
- 20:23Speaker 1: that woe in front of me? Oh my god, you
- 20:25Speaker 1: know what? You know what? You know what? What? I
- 20:30Speaker 1: bet you had it when you were up at three
- 20:31Speaker 1: o'clock in the morning being asked by local media. Yeah. Yeah,
- 20:36Speaker 1: I was more prepared for them. You know what I think.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think I think you're taking this podcast for granted.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm treating it the way I've always treated it. Oh see,
- 20:52Speaker 1: that's not right with with nothing but the most utmost respect.
- 21:02Speaker 1: All right, I want to switch. I want to switch
- 21:04Speaker 1: gears for a second. Um, Matt Ford producer, Matt Ford,
- 21:09Speaker 1: if you're listening, uh, please give me a ping. Um.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I know we had a limited window in which to
- 21:20Speaker 1: record today, so I want to be respectful of that.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So I just need to know how much time before
- 21:25Speaker 1: we're gonna get kicked out? Okay? Um? I don't know
- 21:29Speaker 1: if you've heard that beep, but that is the ten
- 21:31Speaker 1: minute warning for the podcast. We have ten minutes left
- 21:36Speaker 1: in the podcast. All right, your biggest liability right now
- 21:41Speaker 1: is going to be Virginia. You're gonna be rooting hard
- 21:44Speaker 1: for the Cavaliers and um, we don't care about Texas
- 21:47Speaker 1: Tech Michigan State. And who do you think will win
- 21:51Speaker 1: the finals? I'm going with I'm going with Virginia. Me too,
- 21:59Speaker 1: you too too? Yeah? I had listen, No, don't don't
- 22:06Speaker 1: throw my words back in my face. All right, I
- 22:09Speaker 1: picked uh, my final four was Virginia Tech, Florida State, Houston,
- 22:16Speaker 1: and Virginia. And then I had Virginia beating Virginia Tech
- 22:20Speaker 1: in the finals. How did you do with you? Remember
- 22:23Speaker 1: all those bets you were I think you did probably split.
- 22:26Speaker 1: You were telling me all those picks you had in
- 22:29Speaker 1: the sweet sixteen when I saw you last week, and
- 22:32Speaker 1: you're running down those bets, how did they do? Okay,
- 22:35Speaker 1: that wasn't good. It didn't do it, didn't do it well? Um, okay,
- 22:39Speaker 1: that was it was bad. It was bad. It was
- 22:40Speaker 1: very bad. But I rallied, like I totally rallied. So
- 22:46Speaker 1: that day that that week. Um, when I saw you,
- 22:51Speaker 1: I think I lost. Like I don't know everything. Um
- 22:56Speaker 1: I had, Seriously I did I think I had? I
- 23:01Speaker 1: had Texas Tech plus two. I won that. I ended
- 23:06Speaker 1: up betting the Mavericks plus seven against the Heat, so
- 23:08Speaker 1: I won that. I had Produed plus one and a half.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I won that, but I lost Florida State. I lost
- 23:16Speaker 1: the under two fifteen for the Trailblazers and the Bulls
- 23:19Speaker 1: that night. The next day, I lost U v A
- 23:22Speaker 1: minus eight and a half U n C minus five
- 23:25Speaker 1: Virginia Tech on the money line. Um it was ugly,
- 23:30Speaker 1: but this you know. On Saturday, I lost Gonzago minus four.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I lost. I won the over one thirty seven. Yesterday
- 23:41Speaker 1: I won the under one fifty one on Duke Michigan State,
- 23:44Speaker 1: and I had Atlanta plus five against the Bucks. That's
- 23:48Speaker 1: great that you could just kind of rally right back,
- 23:50Speaker 1: and a beautiful thing about sports betting is you could
- 23:53Speaker 1: kind of increase your unit size and kind of make
- 23:56Speaker 1: up for some of the bet you lost. Money management.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Mm hmm, you're right back in the game. The last
- 24:04Speaker 1: thirty days I am and twenty. I'm looking at the
- 24:07Speaker 1: Action Network app. You can follow me you could do
- 24:09Speaker 1: this as well. You could put your picks in. You
- 24:11Speaker 1: can track your bets um all time in the Action
- 24:14Speaker 1: Network app. This is since uh October of two thousand seventeen.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I am one, four and six. I could follow you.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I can get on the app and I could follow
- 24:25Speaker 1: all your picks. Yeah. Really, he's very nice. I like that.
- 24:31Speaker 1: You should. You should download the app just for that
- 24:33Speaker 1: scooch and then you can follow it. I will absolutely.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I didn't know you have that future. I like it.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Jesus Christ, did you even know that I worked for
- 24:41Speaker 1: the Action Network that I don't work in the ESPN anymore?
- 24:46Speaker 1: Just found out. Yeah, hey listen. Uh in the last
- 24:50Speaker 1: seven minutes now that we have um, the a sports
- 24:56Speaker 1: book posted season win totals for the NFL this past weekend,
- 25:01Speaker 1: it wasn't you no, no, what are you waiting for? What? So?
- 25:07Speaker 1: What's your plant? Where? What are you waiting for? We
- 25:12Speaker 1: we have that, we have so many locals properties we
- 25:15Speaker 1: could afford to wait a day or two. That a
- 25:18Speaker 1: lot of a lot of our guys that don't always
- 25:21Speaker 1: like to tie up their money for for that long
- 25:23Speaker 1: of a period. But we'll we'll get them. We'll get them.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Right up. How soon you think you're gonna have them up? Uh?
- 25:30Speaker 1: Probably by next week? Do you think the Browns season
- 25:34Speaker 1: win total will be more or less than eight? This
- 25:41Speaker 1: is this is next level handicapping. I am asking the
- 25:44Speaker 1: bookmaker to handicap where they are going to set the
- 25:49Speaker 1: line for the brown season win total. So, considering that
- 25:53Speaker 1: many people are already taking them to win the division,
- 25:56Speaker 1: now I would I would say over a would be
- 26:00Speaker 1: a favorite. Now and now about to beat over money,
- 26:08Speaker 1: then what does that count it? Like if it's eight
- 26:10Speaker 1: over forty, is that a push? Why don't you just
- 26:15Speaker 1: said it at nine? Then we want to get people
- 26:18Speaker 1: to we know they're gonna bet you over the general public,
- 26:21Speaker 1: so we want to get them to lay a little
- 26:22Speaker 1: bit more money. Let them lay a dollar forty, let
- 26:25Speaker 1: him lay a dollar fifty. Look at you practicing big
- 26:28Speaker 1: you know, big time bookmaking techniques. It's like that they're
- 26:37Speaker 1: gonna do anything Like we're talking about the Giants last
- 26:40Speaker 1: year and see how that worked out. So so this
- 26:42Speaker 1: year the trendy team, everyone's gonna think the Browns that
- 26:45Speaker 1: you know, now, this is the year they got the
- 26:47Speaker 1: missing pieces to the puzzle and now they're gonna win
- 26:50Speaker 1: the division, They're gonna go to the playoffs. I agree
- 26:53Speaker 1: with you. You know what I like though, you know
- 26:55Speaker 1: what I like a lot? What I like the Indianapolis
- 26:58Speaker 1: Colts that about sixteen to one to win the Super Bowl.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Oh did you bet them? I'm going to I'm gonna
- 27:09Speaker 1: jump on the app and see find out. Did that
- 27:11Speaker 1: count to all your future wages? Are they listed up? Yeah?
- 27:13Speaker 1: I put my futures in there. I put everything in
- 27:21Speaker 1: their scooch, even the mistakes. I put in mistakes all
- 27:25Speaker 1: the time, and I put them in there. Yeah. Yeah,
- 27:28Speaker 1: I don't take it. What am I think you mean?
- 27:30Speaker 1: Like if you accidentally hit the wrong button and you
- 27:32Speaker 1: bet something you didn't want to bet. Oh, I'll like,
- 27:35Speaker 1: I'll put in the wrong price on something, or I'll
- 27:37Speaker 1: put in the wrong spread. Uh sometimes like um, you
- 27:42Speaker 1: know stuff like that. Okay, I don't care, all right,
- 27:48Speaker 1: you know, I just like to put the information in.
- 27:51Speaker 1: If my record isn't as perfect as it can be,
- 27:54Speaker 1: I'm okay with that. It's like what am I trying
- 27:57Speaker 1: to prove? Yeah, but I'll put that I'm gonna bet
- 28:01Speaker 1: the Colts and I'll put that in as a future
- 28:04Speaker 1: I'm also liking about the Houston Texans. The Houston Texans,
- 28:07Speaker 1: what do you have them up right now? Is a
- 28:09Speaker 1: super Bowl favorite? As to win the Super Bowl? Jeez,
- 28:13Speaker 1: you know, I'm just not in front of my computer.
- 28:15Speaker 1: You you hit, you hit me with all these Is
- 28:18Speaker 1: it more than one? Scooch? Yes, it is more than that.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Feels like a lot. Why would you set that number
- 28:27Speaker 1: so high? Um? Because not a whole lot of people
- 28:33Speaker 1: bet the Houston Texans. I might bet the Houston Texas.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Is that a good one? Is that one? Is that
- 28:39Speaker 1: your Colts and Texans? Someone coming out of that well,
- 28:46Speaker 1: I think I better both. It's weird to bet both
- 28:49Speaker 1: teams to win the Super Bowl coming out of the
- 28:50Speaker 1: same division. But but so if you already loved the Colts,
- 28:55Speaker 1: I don't know if I'll take the Texans. I'm going
- 29:01Speaker 1: Here's what I'm doing. This is how I want to
- 29:03Speaker 1: end the podcast. Uh. Two things. I'm going with the Colts,
- 29:07Speaker 1: uh in this to win the Super Bowl? At about one,
- 29:10Speaker 1: I am gonna go with the Browns under nine And
- 29:14Speaker 1: uh it's time for scoochrou let. Let's play a little
- 29:17Speaker 1: scoot roo let to take us out of the show. Um.
- 29:19Speaker 1: On the final four. Should we play some music Scooch
- 29:30Speaker 1: final for me, scoot Roulette for Saturday's games. I'm going
- 29:35Speaker 1: with Virginia were Virginia minus five and a half? Yeah, alright,
- 29:43Speaker 1: you know what I'm gonna do. Do you know what
- 29:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna do? What I'm going with Auburn plus five?
- 29:49Speaker 1: I figured that, but I like it head to head.
- 29:53Speaker 1: I don't. I don't actually like. I don't like the pick,
- 29:55Speaker 1: but I figured, like, I'm feeling animosity towards you right now,
- 29:58Speaker 1: so I just want to go ahead to head with you.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Can we see that scene Robert de Niro and the
- 30:02Speaker 1: Deer Hunter, They're playing Russian Roulette and now we got
- 30:07Speaker 1: a game. Now we got a game. I prefer to
- 30:10Speaker 1: think of this as, uh, I am Robert de Niro
- 30:14Speaker 1: and you are Al Pacino in the movie heating that
- 30:19Speaker 1: scene in the diner. That's what it is. Yeah, that
- 30:24Speaker 1: was great. All right, Bob Scucci, listen, thanks for coming
- 30:27Speaker 1: on your podcast, and you've got a lot of media applications,
- 30:29Speaker 1: so I appreciate you you're joining us. I'm wishing you
- 30:33Speaker 1: all the best in the Final four this weekend. Go
