- 0:24Welcome into the Treehouse. Time to leave your worries outside enjoin us here in
- 0:31the Treehouse where we let our stupid all just hang out. I'm Daniel Malley
- 0:36along with Trey Trenholme and today's very very very esteemed special guest. We've we've
- 0:43missed you, Angela Chase. How have you been. Oh, I've missed
- 0:46you. Guys. It's so nice to see you so so long. Isn't
- 0:51it nice when old radio friends pop up out of nowhere and be like,
- 0:54hey, do you want to do my podcast? Well? Yeah, until
- 0:58you start doing the math on how long you've known people, and then you're
- 1:00like, oh my god, I'm like really old now. But you know
- 1:03you can say you're veterans, so I guess there's that part. Yeah,
- 1:07I guess you could. And age is uh, if I'm being honest,
- 1:11Angela. Age is kind of a touchy subject around here right now because somebody,
- 1:18not me, but somebody has a has a birthday like tomorrow, tomorrow,
- 1:26Happy birthday, Trey. Oh yeah, thanks, I'm so excited.
- 1:33So you get there aren't enough there's not enough room on a cupcake for all
- 1:38the trays candles. Yeah, that's you don't look at Jay over twenty two.
- 1:45Oh god bless you. Yeah, it's begins to ring my last year
- 1:51of my forties. Oh, which just is painful to even say, Well,
- 1:56you still have another year though before before your act fifty. The downside
- 2:00is, though if I remember correctly, I believe it's forty nine and a
- 2:05half, is around the time when AARP sends you that heads up the card.
- 2:09Oh hey, I'm all. If there's one thing I'm excited about,
- 2:14it is AARP. Absolutely. I embracing the discount on restaurants and insurance and
- 2:22travel and everything else. Car, oh, and golf because you can get
- 2:29a senior discount when you golf. Seriously, Oh yeah, that seems like
- 2:35cheating because most guys that played golf are over fifty. Oh you know,
- 2:38that's how they get them to come in. And you're the ones that are
- 2:44always getting those early tea times before the sun comes up, and all the
- 2:47ones that are under fifty or melting at one o'clock in the afternoon. Well,
- 2:51yeah, that's no want to sweat too much out there. And you
- 2:55say that as a as I've got a seven AMT time tomorrow. He's practicing,
- 3:02he's practicing for that fiftieth Oh man, he's practicing for his dream to
- 3:07join the Senior Tour along with everybody else at his age. I would go
- 3:10off clap for that tray. I'll join her. So Angela Chase formerly of
- 3:20Everything, Yeah, I think I think we've all done the radio circle jerk
- 3:24enough to know that we've You you start at one company, you might go
- 3:30to another company, maybe another company after that, and then you somehow you
- 3:34end up back at at a previous company or the same station where you start
- 3:38at all sorts of things at all full circle. So yeah, I've been
- 3:45to all of the white people clusters. I've done all the white people clusters.
- 3:49Although I did do some traffic for Radio one, so I really have
- 3:53been everywhere. So did did you actually use Angela Chase when you did you
- 3:59know, traffic on nine the Beat? I think I had to come up
- 4:01with a fake name because I was on the Eagle at the time, so
- 4:04they just called me Angela or I think one time they called me Angela Smith
- 4:09and I was like, yeah, you can tell I'm white. Huh.
- 4:13It's just amazing. It's like, you know, we have to change your
- 4:15name because you're going to be on a different station, So Angela, we
- 4:18need to make sure we give you a really clever spy name. Yeah,
- 4:23going to go with Angela. Yes, yeah, they were. They were
- 4:27really making that one difficult for the listeners to figure out. At least none
- 4:31would like Angier whatever. Oh yeah, yeah, I think somebody did that
- 4:36once as well. So but yeah, that's about the extent of their creativity.
- 4:41So how long has it been since you've been forced to abdicate under to
- 4:46live under the broadcasting boot of creativity? Wait? The broadcasting boot boot of
- 4:54creativity? You mean like since I well, I wasn't booted, I left
- 4:58voluntarily. Are you saying like, how long has been since I've been out?
- 5:01No, just saying that they stifle creativity basically, Oh oh god,
- 5:05oh sorry, Um, well, that was fifteen years that I did that.
- 5:10But in the beginning I did get to be creative, so that part
- 5:13was fun. And then and then a round I don't know, I guess
- 5:16like maybe around in a year, like basically when Chris Ryan was no longer
- 5:20the program director, creativity became stifled for me at the Eagle mhmm. Yeah,
- 5:26so that was I don't even know what twenty eleven. Okay, well,
- 5:31well Trey's got all the receipts in the treehouse. Yeah, well,
- 5:35Dan, you should that that that is an obvious one because it was the
- 5:40transition from Chris Ryan to Don Davis's program director, which was also our transition
- 5:44from mornings to afternoons. Okay, so I remember, I remember twenty eleven
- 5:48for being when we went from mornings to afternoons. That's all I recall it.
- 5:53I didn't remember when Don Davis became our program director officially, because I
- 5:59don't think we ever actually talk to him for months until after he actually had
- 6:03the job. I don't remember when our first meeting with him was. Oh
- 6:08okay, now that's not necessarily a slam on him. That's more of a
- 6:11look inside how dark my brain has become because I don't remember too good.
- 6:15Well, I also think that y'all, your show was just so it was
- 6:18like its own entity, and so I think all the pds sort of kind
- 6:21of kept just kind of let that ship steer itself. I'm guessing. I
- 6:26don't know. I mean, I wasn't on the inside, but that's sort
- 6:28of how it seemed to me. No, that's accurate. I think they
- 6:30all realized, you know what, they know what they're doing. Leave them
- 6:32alone. And even if we didn't know what we were doing, don't talk
- 6:35to us about it. Right except for the ACDC. Except for the ACDC,
- 6:42there's only so many songs that they could add. Yeah, but no,
- 6:46I just yeah. Chris Ryan was always really good about just sort of
- 6:48like letting you do your thing, but don was. I just remember him
- 6:53being like, Okay, this is going to be a local break, so
- 6:55you need to talk about sports. That I was like, but everybody knows
- 6:58I hate sports. Oh, everybody's going to know I'm lying it, and
- 7:01I'll probably give the wrong information. I would have told you to lean into
- 7:05the fact that you hate sports. I would have said, okay, well
- 7:08you have to mention. It's Monday and you're doing a midday shift. You
- 7:12gotta mention what the Cowboys did the day before, and so you lean into
- 7:15it. You'd just be like, yeah, I don't care, but my
- 7:17boss told may have to mention it, and so I'm mentioning it, and
- 7:20now I hate sports more because I have to talk about That would have been
- 7:24a lot more fun, and I wouldn't have felt like my creativity was stifled.
- 7:28Especially if they had lost, because then you could say, what's there
- 7:30to enjoy? Exactly, totally agree with you on that one. They weren't
- 7:35even winning back then. Yeah, I would have been able to make that
- 7:36comment a whole lot. I would have just had a Lyne ready to go.
- 7:40It would have made my workday go a lot faster, and it would
- 7:43have been relatable to the audience because they all hated it too, because they
- 7:45didn't even if they like sports, they hated watching the you know, their
- 7:48team lose. Yeah, that's true, and I do know what that's like,
- 7:53Yes, it is. Yeah, Unfortunately, we all do know that.
- 7:57The good news is, though, is all that stuff is behind us,
- 8:00where I'll now living our lives of riches and fantasy. The man who
- 8:07lives in paradise, Yeah yeah, he one of us is. It's not
- 8:13me. I've got a window unit behind me. Okay, look all right,
- 8:18Look, okay, so I planned ahead. So it turns out from
- 8:22when the format changed back in the day at CBS from Live one, O,
- 8:26five, three to the fan, we were all able to see the
- 8:28writing on the wall and we're like, okay, we think something's going on,
- 8:31and then it finally happened. Well, that was a huge lesson in
- 8:35my career. So then when some of that same writing started to appear on
- 8:39the studio walls, in the station walls at the Eagle, I was like,
- 8:43I'm not going to be blindsided this time. I'm going to start making
- 8:46plans. So that's what I did. I made plans. Uh, still
- 8:48did my job, Still still did my job well, but I made plans.
- 8:52Yeah. And because I made plans, you know, I find myself,
- 8:56you know, splitting time between an island and the Caribbean and here in
- 9:01Dallas. Would have been nice for you to have told your friend Trey sitting
- 9:05next to you, that you are making plans. You could have gotten a
- 9:07little tiky hut next door. Trey. I'm still working on it. I've
- 9:13told him. Tray's been Tray. Actually, Trey actually when he was between
- 9:16jobs a few months ago, he actually gained to the island and stayed with
- 9:20me in Tara and had a blast. Was it like weekend at Bernie's,
- 9:24just like the slick It was. It was really embarrassing. It was Trey
- 9:26on one side, my wife on the other, and my shoes tied to
- 9:30theirs because I got so loaded, they had to walk me around. Do
- 9:33you want a quick fun fact, Angela, did you ever see a Weekend
- 9:37at Bernie's two? I mean, potentially it could have been running on cable
- 9:41and I wasn't aware that that's what I was watching. But if you're asking
- 9:46if I'm like really intimately familiar with it, the answer is no. I
- 9:48don't think most people are, including the people that starred in it. But
- 9:52I will tell you this Weekend at Bernie's too, was filmed on St.
- 9:58Thomas US VII, right, so you can, actually you should do like
- 10:01a weekend at Bernie's tour. You can make some money like that, just
- 10:05bringing guests through and then just getting them loaded and walking them around. It's
- 10:11the whole weekend. A weekend at Bernie's extravaganza. Yeah, I'm sure you
- 10:16would have some people that would show up to that, you know, you
- 10:18know you would, actually, yeah, we probably would, especially when you
- 10:24think about how many cruise ships come through St. Thomas. Yes, oh
- 10:28yeah, and you just tell them, hey, you want a fun excursion,
- 10:30how about the weekended Bernie's excursion. I got you the weekend at Bernie's
- 10:33pub crawl, and I end up at the bottom of the ocean with an
- 10:37arrow through your head. Yeah, you can make money on both ends because
- 10:41you could basically be a matchmaker between a drunk and two you know, sober
- 10:45people that you know, wander them around. That is good, but I
- 10:50will say this, you have to be careful. You do have to be
- 10:52careful though about making money on both ends. That's a different excursion. Yeah,
- 10:56that's true. That's fire. You could combine them, but I don't
- 11:03know. I'm not sure what the island laws are regarding necrophilia. That took
- 11:09a dirty turn, and all of a sudden, Angela's thinking, you know
- 11:11what, this show feels dirty and I'm currently on it in and over the
- 11:16garage apartment. Yeah, I've got the dirtiest thing going on here. I
- 11:20also have a nineteen year old tweenie in this room because it's way too hot
- 11:24for her downstairs, and she is pretty gassy. So it smells really amazing
- 11:30up here between the old man smell, which really goes with weekend at Bernie's
- 11:33team, and then my gassy dog. Yeah, I'm like dying over here,
- 11:35but I've got a smile on my face. I'm just I'm rolling with
- 11:39it. The show must go on. Oh you know what, though,
- 11:43here's the thing. Everything you just described as far as a gassy dog an
- 11:48old man smell trust me, Angela, that was the Eagle studio near the
- 11:52end. I believe you that, I truly truly believe. So what have
- 12:00you been up to since since you hung up your headphones? I know,
- 12:03for a while. Uh Like, if we wanted to, we could easily
- 12:05shift this treehouse episode into three three real estate professional show if we wanted to,
- 12:13because I know you were doing real estate for a while after you get
- 12:16out of radio. It would be a short show with some agles in it.
- 12:20So I don't know, I don't know. Um yeah, you know
- 12:24real Estate was funny and it's like, I mean, like you, I
- 12:28did it during COVID. I got my license during COVID, which was not
- 12:31awesome, especially with those interest rates, as Trey and I were discussing earlier.
- 12:35But um yeah, so I just discovered that people are really mean,
- 12:41like really really mean and do not do not respect you at all. I
- 12:46mean, I thought it was bad working at the Eagle, but this was
- 12:50a whole different level of disrespect. I don't respect you, and damn sure
- 12:56they do not respect your time well, and at least at the Eagle they
- 12:58paid me a little bit of money. But in real estate, I was
- 13:01just paying to work and drive people around. So yeah, I I reached
- 13:07a new low when I became a real estate agent. And finally I was
- 13:09like, you know what, I have more self respect than this. I'm
- 13:11going to go work at my Pilates studio and go on vacation. And even
- 13:16if I make less than a thousand dollars a month, that's still more money
- 13:18than I make in real estate. So and the good thing is with Pilates,
- 13:22it's not like you had to go and buy a bunch of stuff in
- 13:26advance or spend thousands of dollars on sales courses or something. Nope, not
- 13:31at all. And it's really easy. You just clock in, clock out,
- 13:35and once you're gone, you're gone, and that's it, and you
- 13:37get to stretch and stuff you do. You do, get to stretch and
- 13:39stuff. Get a discount on my workouts, which is nice. I actually
- 13:43I enjoyed my time doing real estate and I and I still I still do
- 13:46it. I've still got my license. I'm not super active because I'm not
- 13:52here. I'm not here in North Texas enough to really do it full time.
- 13:58So I'll do like a little bit here and there. But um,
- 14:01it's interesting you mentioned as far as people you know treating you like just crap
- 14:05sometimes. Yeah, for the most part, I had some pretty good clients.
- 14:09Actually, I had some really good clients. I had one set of
- 14:11clients that I absolutely wanted to throw on a pire and set on fire.
- 14:16Yeah, And they started out really cool and dan as they do, and
- 14:22then they turned. I don't know, someone fed them after me after midnight
- 14:26or got them what or what the deal was. Um, they turned.
- 14:30And so there was there's one woman in our real estate office. I'll give
- 14:33it a plug, because why not. It's your home free dot com.
- 14:35And in our in our real estate office at your home Free, there's a
- 14:39there's there's there's an individual in there who is considered the pitbull of the office.
- 14:45She's the one that handles all the contract to close stuff for the other
- 14:50Okay, she knows, she knows how to negotiate everything. In the middle
- 14:54of an option period when she can negotiate everything, she's the one that you
- 14:58send and she's the closer, right And one time we had a call with
- 15:05these two clients, myself and our closer, and uh, it's it was.
- 15:11It was pretty interesting because she had to calm me down because I about
- 15:18because I still remember where I was. I was driving south on the tollway
- 15:20at Keller Springs on my way to the radio station, having a phone call
- 15:24that I've had a conference call with these real estate clients and they said something
- 15:28along the lines of what you work for me and blah blah blah blah blah
- 15:31blah blah. And keep in mind they were totally in the wrong and whatever
- 15:33the situation was. And and I about invented the technology to crawl through the
- 15:39prone to crawl through the phone and strangle some bitches. And again, so
- 15:43our office pit bull had to like call me down and take the deed as
- 15:46far as like, oh, you know, and we'll figure this out.
- 15:48It's okay, And she smoothed things over. I never saw them again,
- 15:52and it was a good thing I didn't. Yeah, how about you,
- 15:56Trey, Have you had any nightmare stories train nightmare stories? Oh? I've
- 16:04got. And the thing that really where I just was my burnout of real
- 16:10estate was I had basically and this is I mean, this is over fifteen
- 16:15years ago. But it was three million dollars in title on two separate transactions,
- 16:21and but they were tied together. And basically it all came down to
- 16:27that the sellers and buyers on one of them, they were gotten a pissing
- 16:33contest over fifteen hundred dollars drapes. And I tried, like, I was
- 16:40like, I'll pay for the draft here, you know, I'm and but
- 16:45you couldn't do it, and like and that, you know, three million
- 16:51dollars then was you know, probably five six million now, So I mean
- 16:56it gives a lot of money. And and that's when I remember I I
- 17:00threw my phone on my car. You know, the floorboard next to me
- 17:04broke it, which was just you know, the cherry on top of oh
- 17:08yeah, saying you know, ninety thousand dollars go down the drain, and
- 17:14uh, I'm assuming it broke the phone, not through the phone so hard
- 17:18it broke the car. No, it broke the phone. That's where you
- 17:22needed that technology to be able to crawl through the phone. Oh yeah,
- 17:26I'm been able to get on the other side instead of breaking. Well yeah,
- 17:30okay, maybe that's maybe that's a good thing. Maybe it's a good
- 17:32thing. That that technology hasn't been created then Dan, Yeah, but I'm
- 17:34still working on it. I mean not with my hands, because I'm terrible.
- 17:38I'm terrible engineering and actually physically inventing something. But I'm I got ideas.
- 17:45Yeah, I got the ideas. I've got the vision. I just
- 17:48need someone to actually do the you know, the knowledge based stuff. You
- 17:53just need to rent somebody with Asperger's you know, just like you know,
- 17:56it's like an eight hour day and just be like, Okay, here's my
- 17:59ideas. I need you to figure out how to implement them. Well,
- 18:03the biggest thing you figure out is that in real estate and then you just
- 18:07realize it. It's pervasive and everything is people are stupid and there's just no
- 18:11getting around it. Well, I think that they just think that they know
- 18:15because they have the Zilo app. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's
- 18:21that's that's that's one of the most dangerous things in the world today is people
- 18:26thinking they know more than they actually do. Yeah, and a lot of
- 18:30them think that. But yeah, by the way, it's it's not it's
- 18:33not a disease that is limited to you know, Dallas, Fort Worth or
- 18:37Texas or the United States. I mean there's there's plenty of stupid people on
- 18:41the island where I live. The differences they're just all smiling. Well,
- 18:47that's because they're in paradise. There are the simpler They're right. Most of
- 18:55the time, it is. Most of the time it is much simpler.
- 18:56And that's one of the reasons why we wanted to go, you know,
- 19:00a business opportunity for my wife, and also because you know, I was
- 19:04I was just kind of sick at stuff and a little bit of change of
- 19:07pace. I thought, yeah, this sounds nice. I don't mind it.
- 19:11You know, if I wanted to every day, if I want to
- 19:12go stick my feet in the ocean, I can. Have you taken up
- 19:15any new hobbies since you've been there? Podcasting, Yeah, but no,
- 19:21like scuba diving or anything like that. I am not a scuba guy.
- 19:25I don't know if I'll ever do that. And like I know, Trey,
- 19:29you're a scuba guy. I don't. I have an irrational fear of
- 19:36heights, and me too. Actually I shouldn't. I shouldn't say a fear
- 19:40of heights is irrational to me, that's rational. The irrational fear I have
- 19:45is when I'm in water. That's really really deep, especially if I can't
- 19:48see the bottom. It's the same feeling I get as if I'm if I'm
- 19:52up on something really high, and it's irrational because I'm not going to fall
- 19:56down that deep dark abyss in the ocean. Because float My anxiety doesn't seem
- 20:03to recognize, you know, reason I get that. I had a hard
- 20:07time getting scuba certified. I actually had, like the scuba instructor, I
- 20:11had to, like during the lunch break, go separately with him and I
- 20:15held his hand and the entire I was like, do not let go of
- 20:18my hand because I was so it freaked me out. The idea like we
- 20:22had to descend and like go twenty five feet down and then they were like
- 20:26okay, and then wait on this platform, And the idea of just waiting
- 20:29down there freaked me out like like no other. It was just that waiting
- 20:33and waiting and waiting and then like what if I need to like scratch or
- 20:37you know, and it's like and I can't, I can't. It just
- 20:40felt so suffocating. You do in those situations. I cope with it.
- 20:48I mean, you have to. The platform is just to teach you,
- 20:52so you don't get the bins when you come up. Basically, what's also
- 20:56a scuba ranch. That's all that's there. It's just like a platform feet
- 21:00It's a lot better than it's a lot better than that lake. I think
- 21:03it's it's either in Michigan or Minnesota, somewhere up north where it's like at
- 21:07a certain depth in a lake where it's very popular to get scuba certified.
- 21:11Someone stuck a big statue of Jason Vorhees at the bottom of the lake.
- 21:17Oh god, no, no, no, no, that's awesome. Yeah,
- 21:25So like, how many, how many? What kind of certification do
- 21:27you have, Trey, I've got. I'm a master diver. Oh so
- 21:33you've done like the deep dark, nighttime dives and all that. Yes,
- 21:37we only thing I will never do again is cave diving. Oh you've done
- 21:42that? That is I I have, Like I am claustrophobic. That is
- 21:48that is my biggest phobia. And I did cave dive and it was in
- 21:52Florida. It was spring water. But part of this cave, like you
- 21:57you just we were on a rope and you had to like basically pull yourself
- 22:00through. And you're talking about there's no light one way or the other.
- 22:03That is the one time and although you're not, it's not even wide enough
- 22:10for you to get turned around the fact that you don't, you don't really
- 22:15you lose track of where you're you know, going where you came from.
- 22:19It. I started, you know, hyperventilating and going through my oxygen,
- 22:22and I turn around and think like there there's no way around it, Like
- 22:27I will snortle, I will stay at the top. I might need to
- 22:30go down a few feet and swim with a couple of fishes or something and
- 22:33poke around in a hole here and there. But I'm not doing a cave
- 22:37dive. I'm not doing a cave dive. If I have to pull myself
- 22:38on a rope, I'm not going in any room or I can't see anything
- 22:42that you Hell no, And also, by the way, trade that doesn't
- 22:48make you a master diver, that makes you, h what's the turn?
- 22:51I just I just looked up Nightmare Certified. That's true. I could,
- 22:57like you want to talk about I actually giving me anxiety. I watched one
- 23:02of the documentary or the movies they made about the Thailand the soccer team,
- 23:06the Good I saw that, Yes, the one with Vigo Mortensen, and
- 23:08yes, all right, you want to talk about I can't even fathom how
- 23:14those guys. Absolutely not. I'd have to the closest thing. If I
- 23:18was the only person nearby with like a paraffins and a snorkel tube, I
- 23:22would not have gone in there. All I would have been able to do
- 23:25is to possibly send a laminated note card on the rope. Yeah, on
- 23:32the rope saying sorry, you're you're just gonna can die. At least you
- 23:37say you're in my thoughts and prayers. That right there, that seems to
- 23:41help all horrible situations, doesn't it, thoughts and prayers. I'll just send
- 23:45that on the on the laminated card. Just send a little hammer and chizzle
- 23:48just to drill your way out. That's right. And the hammer's name thoughts
- 23:52and the chiles name prayers. You're listening to the treehouse. Visit us online

- 24:19right now to contact our man, Rodney Anderson is nine seven two fifty two
- 24:23hundred. His website Rodney Anderson dot com. Can you walk us through a
- 24:27couple of the benefits of a cash out refinance for someone to get out of
- 24:32debt? Yeah? Number one day, and credit card companies are raising people's
- 24:36rates every time. The Federal reserved US and the average interest right down our
- 24:40credit cards over twenty four percent. But we've seen people recently that have credit
- 24:44cards rates up to thirty five percent. You can never get ahead with those
- 24:48hyper rays are rates because you can't walk into your boss and say, give
- 24:52me a thirty percent raise this year to offset your credit card debt. So
- 24:56credit card debt is really a big thing right now. And we've seen to
- 25:00pull him out of our pocket all the time, and it just hey,
- 25:03let's keep pulling him out, Let's keep adding balances, and we're just making
- 25:06the minimum payments. And then dan also medical debt. I want to talk
- 25:10about this. We had a gentleman the other day that's doing a cash out
- 25:12right now because he said he got a redneck manicure our pedicare excuse me,
- 25:17redneck pedicare. He was out mowing his yard and cut three toes off.
- 25:21Oh god, and guess what they had to remove the other ones as well.
- 25:25So think about the medical bills, the loss of work. You know,
- 25:27it's not funny whatsoever, but people are dealing with meal debt all the
- 25:32time. He's the one that said that, so we kind of laughed about
- 25:34it. But those are things that really get into people's way. So if
- 25:37it's student loan debt, payments are starting October first, don't mess around with
- 25:42that stuff. So you've got student loans, medical debt, credit card debt,
- 25:45consolidation loan debt. We see a lot of people paying off auto loans
- 25:49because the payments are so expensive. So pick up the phone and give us
- 25:52a call. Let's talk about a cash out refinance and the reasons why you're
- 25:57looking at getting in improving your finances. Last thing, dann credit scores.
- 26:03When you have credit card debt, you have lower credit scores, and within
- 26:07thirty days of paying off that debt, you'll see a huge increase in your
- 26:11score. Do yourself a favor instead of the redneck pedicure, give Rodney Anderson
- 26:17a call. He'll he'll he'll save you some pain. Nine seven two nine

- 27:18Angela Chase Hi. So the other thing I was going to throw at your
- 27:22real quick real estate wise is because there's another thread in your, as you
- 27:29said, brief real estate career. But it was very It was a very
- 27:33impactful one because you got to work with someone who's well respected in the real
- 27:40estate industry but has also widely feared amongst the general public. That is doing
- 27:47something wrong. That is that is true. But we're talking about Becky Oliver,
- 27:52who used to be the investigative reporter at Fox four for many, many,
- 27:56many many years, and she did such a good job of it that
- 28:00she's still instill's fear wherever she goes unless you know her. And like Angela,
- 28:07you were saying, oh my god, before we got started that you
- 28:11say, she's just just a sweet old gal. She is just like heart
- 28:15of gold. I love her so much, like so so much. Actually
- 28:19went on a ski trip with her in February. She has a condo and
- 28:23Copper Mountain and she was like, do you want to come? And I
- 28:27mean, but she's just she raised six children, so I mean, she's
- 28:30just got this like total mama bear instinct. She's just the kindest, you
- 28:36know, she's very religious and so she's just like you know, everything that
- 28:40she really like, she's like the true Christian. You know, she's like
- 28:42a good, good, good as gold person. I love her so much.
- 28:48It's amazing because we spent so many years watching everything that she did on
- 28:53Fox Four. Because you're right, I mean, if you weren't doing anything
- 28:56wrong, you had nothing to worry about, right, however, she was
- 29:02so good at it. And when you only see one side of a person,
- 29:07I actually have seen Becky Oliver in person handful of times. None of
- 29:14them were in bad situations. I think one was at a radio station lobby,
- 29:18and that kind of made sense because she was there promoting something. But
- 29:22I also saw her once at ihop, and many years ago I saw her
- 29:30at iehop and then I thought, what's wrong with this ihop? Even though,
- 29:34like you were saying, she was not on duty, she was with
- 29:37her family, There was nothing wrong. She seemed to be enjoying herself.
- 29:41But I happened to be sitting kind of facing her, and I'm like,
- 29:45is she about to pop up with a camera crew? Like who's in trouble?
- 29:49And then another time I saw her at a grocery store, same thing.
- 29:52I was like, Okay, someone about to get in trouble. What's
- 29:55going on? Please? Just don't let it be me? What have I
- 29:59done any thing that could remotely be construed as bad? You know, she
- 30:04she has so much energy. It's insane to me that she could raise the
- 30:07kids and work full time and then she's still running around doing her hands and
- 30:11you know she is she or at least at the time. I'm sure she
- 30:14probably still is now. But in the we'll give her, We'll give them
- 30:18a plug if I can't. I don't know, but she's with Briggs Freeman
- 30:21and in the Lakewood office at least I don't know about like for the whole
- 30:22like DFW area. But she she is number one in sales I mean,
- 30:26and she she will bend over backwards to advocate for people. I mean,
- 30:32she just she is amazing. You shouldn't be afraid of her. You should
- 30:36go up to her and be like, hey, I'm friends, I'm sorry.
- 30:40Remember I ran in her I at a restaurant years ago, and I
- 30:45there are very few things that strike fear and to me, but she did
- 30:48it. I was like, we've made a lot of jokes about her.
- 30:51This is where I die. Yeah, I kind of the good news is
- 30:57though. The good news is, though, is I like I could.
- 31:00I don't know why I'd feel weird going up to Becky Oliver going like hey,
- 31:03Becky um, but if I did see her, I would be very
- 31:07tempted to say hi. And the good news is now I could say,
- 31:11you know, you know, the guy that made all those jokes totally dead.
- 31:14Now, wasn't he not my fault? I was an unwitting accomplice.
- 31:18It was funny at the time, but no, that was the other guy.
- 31:21And angel Angelo to answer your question, one of the like we used
- 31:22to laugh or like, you know, they keep her in the basement at
- 31:26Fox four, in a cage and they just, you know, kind of
- 31:27taze her, and then when sweet as Sweets get there, they just get
- 31:30her more and more agitated than sweet start. They just open up the cage
- 31:34and she is unleashed. I bet she would laugh at that. She's had
- 31:38a good sense of humor. She whever, she's still scary. Only if
- 31:44you're doing something wrong. But if you are the wronged one, who better
- 31:49to have in your corner? Absolutely no, I'm with you, Yeah,
- 31:52and honestly, try really and I think Angela is right. It's like,
- 31:56only if you were doing something wrong would you fall under the the microscope of
- 32:00Becky Oliver. And if you were, if you somehow are able to trap
- 32:05Becky Oliver and keep her in a cage in the basement of a TV studio,
- 32:07you know she's going to gnaw through those bars and come get you,
- 32:13and all you've done, she'll find a way out without gnawing. She is
- 32:16one of the sharpest people I know. You hear that tray she's made of
- 32:22knives exactly? She probably is. She's God have tucked away somewhere. I
- 32:29will say this though, if I was to not use any actual personal friends
- 32:34in a real estate transaction, I would have Becky Oliver on my side because
- 32:37I think she'll she'll absolutely terrify the other agent into whatever I want. I
- 32:43mean, and she just is so supportive, Like the things that I have
- 32:45seen her do for her clients is just above and beyond, and I don't
- 32:50want to say what they are because I don't want people being like, oh
- 32:52cool, I'll just get my real estate agent to do that, because I
- 32:54feel like she does get taken advantage of because I think she you know,
- 32:58she has this like you know, she's blustery, and she's tall, and
- 33:01you know she's like you know when she's got charisma, like you know,
- 33:05when she's in a room, and um, so I think that she's like
- 33:08she's such a teddy bear on the inside. She's so soft on the inside.
- 33:12And I well, I was like I was saying too earlier. Really,
- 33:15the best way to describe her is like my great Pyrenees puppy. Seriously,
- 33:19she's tall, long legs. She just wants you to love her.
- 33:22She peers down at you and is like looking at you like, oh,
- 33:25look at how cute, Like like my great Pyrenees looks at my little dog
- 33:29like she thinks it's so cute. Becky thinks everybody's so cute because she's taller
- 33:32than everyone. You know. She's just so nice. Though. Does does
- 33:37she also lean up against you the way a pyrenees does? Sometimes? Sometimes
- 33:42she does? Absolutely she does. No, we got a long grade.
- 33:45I felt really really lucky to have her as my mentor, and they did
- 33:50Paris up because we were we were media. But she was just cool.
- 33:52Great, Yeah, I'm glad up. Put a smile on my face.
- 33:58If you if you needed her realtor, I mean, yeah, Becky,
- 34:00especially like if you want to you're buying a house and you wanted in Asia,
- 34:04because when comes down to negotiation, you just strap a camera on her
- 34:07and send her in there and go. So you don't want to switch to
- 34:09fix the shower pad? Why not? It's right? What are you hiding?
- 34:15For sure? Someone So she's someone that was able to tap into her
- 34:21talents. Right, she was able to tap into her talent and excel in
- 34:24you know, television, also excel in real estate and her kids schools.
- 34:30I mean, she's just incredible. They earn it or did she just send
- 34:32a strongly worded video. I think they earned it. I think they earned
- 34:38it. Well good, I'm glad for her and those kids. But the
- 34:43the we like to deal more in stupid around here. So, um,
- 34:47what's the opposite of a talent is something that you're something you're terrible at,
- 34:52But then there's an additional twist on there that I've recognized recently, you know,
- 34:57from myself and my wife, and that is an unwanted talent. And
- 35:00an unwanted talent is something that you're good at but you wish you weren't.
- 35:06So I'll give you I'll give you two really good examples of unwanted talents that
- 35:10I have. I wished I didn't the first one and this is the most
- 35:15important one by far. I am extremely talented in forgetting almost everything my wife
- 35:21says, and it makes it makes navigating a relationship difficult at times. I'm
- 35:25not gonna lie. And well, here's the other thing. I know.
- 35:30The old joke is oh selective memory, mendo listen to their wives, blah
- 35:35blah blah. No that that that's not the case. I listen. I
- 35:37do listen, I just don't remember it, which still at the end of
- 35:44the day, it makes it seem like you're not listening. But I swear
- 35:45I do listen. I just I'm really, I'm really forgetful o things.
- 35:52Yes, I forget stuff I've done and said. So it's so that's why
- 35:55I try to lean on and telling Tea. It's like, it's not just
- 35:59you. I forget stuff I say as well, but my other unwanted talent.
- 36:04And this is when I recognized, years and years and years ago,
- 36:07I really really wish I was not so good at walking through spiderwebs. I
- 36:14cannot, I really cannot embellish to you how many times I have been walking
- 36:21single file in line, third, fourth, fifth person back and I'm the
- 36:25one that walks through the spiderweb. I still remember one time at Lake Louisville.
- 36:30This was on the Lake Dallas side, behind Barflies. It was behind
- 36:37Barflies, and it was with the owner of Barflies at the time, Jeremy,
- 36:40and there was like four or five of us who were going out.
- 36:45I think to Jeremy's boat, and Jeremy was a tall guy. He was
- 36:49in front of me. I think Raj was there. He's also a tall
- 36:52guy, He's like six ft one. I was third behind them. So
- 36:55I'm behind two over six foot tall men, and I'm the one whose face
- 37:00finds the spiderweb in the marina. Maybe there's no way to look cool when
- 37:06you walk through a spiderweb. I would just call that chivalry. You're just
- 37:09making sure you get it for everyone else. There were no women behind me.
- 37:15Hey, these days, it doesn't matter. There were no romantic interests
- 37:21behind me. I want to see you start pulling the chair out forage.
- 37:25Yeah, nice, help him with his coat. You know what, as
- 37:31long as as long as I'm guaranteed not to go face first into a spider
- 37:35web, I would actually consider it. But it is it is kind of
- 37:37a freakish thing. If like there was times in you know, in our
- 37:40like getting out of their car in the garage, terror would like, I'll
- 37:45do the chivalrous thing and have her walk in front of me going the door
- 37:47first. She goes in the door first, I go through second. I'm
- 37:51the one with a face full of cobweb. So do you have the same
- 37:54fear of spiders as you do heights? No, I don't have. I
- 37:59don't have a real fear of spiders. I don't. I don't want them
- 38:01crawling on me or anything. But I think that's normal. But I wouldn't
- 38:06say I'm phobic about them, right. But it's funny. That's my wife.
- 38:10You want to know her unwanted talent. Yes, seeing old men peeing?
- 38:21And where has this happened? Well, uh, pretty much anytime we've
- 38:27ever gone camping. Uh. You know, we've never gone anywhere like super
- 38:30remote camping. It's usually been more of a glamping scenario. But if there's
- 38:34a guy who's sneak enough to go to go take a leak in the woods,
- 38:37she'll see it. And it's not like she's looking for it. It
- 38:39just happens more recently though, Uh, Trey will know this. There's a
- 38:45where we live, down on the beach. There's a couple of bars down
- 38:49there on the beach, I know, shocker, and one of them has
- 38:52really nice bathrooms. The other one does not, And you don't want to
- 38:55use their porta potti. So what do most guys do? They go off,
- 39:00walk a little bit to the tree line, and then they or between
- 39:02a couple of Toyota tacomas and they'll take a leak on the edge of the
- 39:07beach. I hardly ever see that. My wife though, as soon as
- 39:10she gets one foot out of the car, there's a guy pan. Maybe
- 39:15it's like magnetic polls. It's like, as a dude, there's just some
- 39:19sort of innate sense that you just know it's like, oh, north to
- 39:22north, I gotta go the other way, whereas you know, could be
- 39:25like a north to south situation with your wife and random urinating men. The
- 39:30good news is, for the most part, their backs are usually toured.
- 39:35Yeah, yeah, that is definitely the upside. I think it's better.
- 39:38She knows the body language though, she's got it down. She knows he
- 39:42knows, he knows the stance and all of it. So she's got like
- 39:45a good reaction time on it. It's just like a millisecond for her to
- 39:49see it, whereas for some other unsuspecting female it might take some time.
- 39:54Yeah. So like I don't know, I don't know about you, Angela,
- 39:58but if you were to see a guy in the stance from behind,
- 40:00you know, going number one, it might take you a second one to
- 40:04be like, am I seeing what I think I'm seeing? And number two
- 40:08is that guy really doing that in public? Oh? My god, what's
- 40:12wrong? So it may take you a little bit longer. Her, she
- 40:15has it immediately. She just knows she's eliminated the first part. She doesn't
- 40:17have to go, am I seeing what I'm seeing like? She's just like,
- 40:20I'm seeing that, So she can just get straight to the meat of
- 40:22the situation. Yeah, she is such a skilled veteran at it now.
- 40:25She knows it immediately. Well, that could come in handy one day.
- 40:30You know, you never know as you get old, that as I get
- 40:36old, and she knows that I have a hard time holding it because my
- 40:37prostates the size of a baseball. SE's we get out of the car.
- 40:42She SE's a guy taking a leak. She's like, when you when you
- 40:44need to go later, let's go over there. That's apparently the outdoor bathroom.
- 40:50Oh, I know, I'm kind of putting you on the spot,
- 40:52but I'm curious, Trey or Angela any unwanted talents. I think I've got
- 40:57one for Trey, but I'll see if if if you have one for yourself
- 41:00at some point. Uh, making up stupid songs from my dog. Oh,
- 41:09my husband does that. It's really sweet when you listening to your dog.
- 41:14You can't bring that up and not share. Huh. Yeah, No,
- 41:19I mean my last one. It's just because the Barbie movie and all
- 41:22the promos. You know, it's you know, the Barbie song, Come
- 41:24on, Barbie, Let's go party. That's the song I sing to my
- 41:28dog. I say, come on, Daisy, let's go potty. Okay,
- 41:32so mine is please tell me tail that is no fight. That is
- 41:42the song that I sing to my dog. But it had nothing to do
- 41:44with the Barbie movie. But I say, she's a baby girl in her
- 41:46baby world because she you know, her house is kind of small and she's
- 41:50so big, and she's just you know, it's baby world, baby world,
- 41:53baby girl. I think, I think both of you. What you
- 41:57need to do now is when you take when you take your dogs outside,
- 42:00which by the way, could be the next casting for the dog version of
- 42:02Twins, a Great Pyrenees and a three pound Daisy Chihuahua. You actually need
- 42:07to play on your phone full blast Akwa's Barbie Girl. Yeah, except that
- 42:13poor Daisy will be terrified of Lexey because Lexie will do the Becky Oliver on
- 42:16her. She'll just like stoop over her, like you're so few, and
- 42:20it's just, you know, we all over for poor Daisy. Actually,
- 42:22if anything, Daisy is not afraid of big dogs, big dogs at all.
- 42:25It's actually other small dogs she's far more cautious with. Okay, so
- 42:30she maybe does need to meet Lexi because I feel like Lexi's self esteem is
- 42:36really hurting because she's like nobody wants to be her friend and she's the sweetest
- 42:39dog in the whole world. Yeah that is Oh, that's terrible. It
- 42:45is. Well, I take her to the White Rock Dog Park, but
- 42:46it's been it's been close for some renovations, so she's been a little lonely.
- 42:52How many renovations as a dog park, deed, isn't it just some
- 42:53grass of fence and some like little uh, you know, poopy stations.
- 42:58I think you're putting some agility of men in there. Real Wow, Yeah,
- 43:02it's pretty cool. So I don't know, we'll find out on the
- 43:06first because it's open or it's closed to the end of the month. Do
- 43:09you think it'll actually open on time? I hope so I really hope so,
- 43:15because I have to walk her, and it's much easier to just sit
- 43:19under a shade tree than it is to walk a dog that weighs eighty pounds
- 43:22and wants to befriend everyone. Yeah, I think with Trey, I think
- 43:25all he has to do is just hang Daisy over the balcony and just kind
- 43:29of give a gentle squeek her little pause, just kind of run in motion.
- 43:36I would imagine like getting Daisy to go number one, you just hold
- 43:38her over the like the edge of the balcony railing train, and it's just
- 43:42like like just give it like a little squeeze of a kitchen. See.
- 43:49I wish that would work, as though. What. Yeah, she does
- 43:52not like fake grass for some reason. And of course when it's raining and
- 43:55there's like fake grass in my little apartment building under some covered areas, which
- 44:00would be really handy if she would ever use it when it's raining, but
- 44:04of course she will have none of it. And of course she didn't like
- 44:07getting wett either. She looks at me like, let's hurry the f up,
- 44:13get the umbrella, let's go. So Angela, any any possible unwanted
- 44:17talents and with you well, I'm really good at being brutally honest. I
- 44:24guess it's a talent that you wish you didn't have, like because it gotten
- 44:31you in trouble where you said something You're like, oh, I should not
- 44:34have said that. My entire life, Dan, my entire life. I
- 44:37feel like I am just constantly doing some sort of a wako shame. And
- 44:40then the worst part is it that all say something that I think is funny,
- 44:45and then particularly like in twenty twenty three, because see I'm like even
- 44:52afraid to tell you the story, but you know how certain words when we
- 44:55were kids, it was okay to use those words, and now it's not.
- 44:59It's it's yes, So like I'll say something and not that I'm so
- 45:02socially unaware that I know, I don't know which words are off limits,
- 45:07although sometimes I'm like, wait, wait, what's like did you did you
- 45:10know that algebra is racist? Now? Apparently algebra is racist. I'm like,
- 45:15I'm like, it's math, Like I don't. Yeah, it's very
- 45:19confusing to me. So anyway, I just feel like we live in a
- 45:22very PC world now, So I just I feel like I'm constantly inserting my
- 45:27foot into my mouth but when I'm by myself, I think it's fun.
- 45:31Just let all the racist stuff fly. No, not racist, but like
- 45:37like math, I am studying for the GRA so I'm doing a lot of
- 45:40a lot of algebra. So that's practicing a lot of racism right now.
- 45:44Yeah, if that's what it is, that's the equation right there, turns
- 45:47up at Agareean's theorem was started at at a cross burning something like that.
- 45:52Yeah, I don't know. Yeah they were, they were trying to figure
- 45:53out the hypoth noose of something. But no, watch, somebody's gonna take
- 45:58like that sound clip and then all of a sudden, it's going to be
- 46:00like just just that one thing I said, it is going to be turned
- 46:02into something completely different. But people like I'll say something that I think is
- 46:07kind of funny, and then people are will think it's mean. So I'm
- 46:12like I was, and then and then but it's like I feel bad.
- 46:15I'm like, oh, okay, well I'm sorry. But then a lot
- 46:16of times people don't want accept your apology. Is it because you you can't
- 46:20control yourself and you just keep you like throwing out midget jokes in front of
- 46:24little people. No, it's not even that extreme, Dan, It's not
- 46:29even that extreme. Okay, it's just like no, I can't um honestly,
- 46:38Yeah, how uncomfortable you are is is all the effect I need?
- 46:44Yeah? Yeah, clear clearly being an told was new to you. If
- 46:47you need any advice, let me know, because that was my number one
- 46:51of my hidden talents is just being an awl, yeah said. The thing
- 46:53is Tray? Is that that one's not hidden? Yeah? No, it's
- 46:57not hidden, And I'm not really ashamed of it. It's just you're not
- 47:00but I was yeah, yeah, no, you're yeah, no with you.
- 47:04To me, your unwanted talent, Tray is just good old fashioned staying
- 47:07single. Oh yeah, being alone. Yes, that's you're You're like,
- 47:14you're like the forever alone meme personified. He's got Daisy. I'll always have
- 47:20a love of daisy. You know. I remember years ago, I mean
- 47:24like ten years ago or more like like driving my car like uptown and like
- 47:30I just see this guy in this little Chihuahua and I look and I'm like,
- 47:34oh, it's Tray and Daisy. It was like the sweetest thing,
- 47:37and it was nice. Tray would like come to the studio whenever he had
- 47:40Daisy. So that I could see her look at that tongue is not little.
- 47:46She's like the Gene Simmons, but sweeter, way sweeter. You know.
- 47:52Jean Simmons, he like ran me into an easel one time. He
- 47:57is of the rudest celebrities I've ever met. He was the rudest. He
- 48:01was at the American Idol finales when he was a judge, and like,
- 48:07We're all in the media room and like people are taking pictures and the fake
- 48:12Ace freely was stopping to take pictures with people, and so I'm like looking
- 48:15around and it's all these pop people and so I'm like, oh, I
- 48:16know who the real rock star is. I know I know which one to
- 48:20get like the good picture with. And so Gene comes through and I was
- 48:23like hi, and I'm like trying to keep up with him, and He's
- 48:27got his heels on. So I'm looking way up here and I'm like,
- 48:30Hi, can I get a picture with you? And I've got my phone
- 48:32up everything, and he's like and I was like huh, and He's like
- 48:37sure, and I was like, oh, okay, and I'm expecting him
- 48:40to stop, and he doesn't. He just keeps going. And so I'm
- 48:43like, oh okay, so I'm like trying to get this picture. Meanwhile,
- 48:45everybody from like all forty stations and their assistance, you know that we're
- 48:51helping. Everybody's in there, and there's an easel that's got like a poster
- 48:54on it, and he just runs me right into it. It was the
- 48:59most embarrassing thing. And then the guy from the station, Sammy, that
- 49:02had come with us, he was just like, oh my god, Angela,
- 49:06I was so embarrassed for you. I was like, thanks, Sammy,
- 49:08I need to go get drunk now. Like it was just all It
- 49:13would have been nicer if he said, are you okay, but instead he
- 49:15immediately just does I'm embarrassed for you. This isn't oh yeah yeah. But
- 49:21like Gene Simmons just kept dumb walking, just kept unfortunately. I'm not I'm
- 49:28not that surprised. It's like whenever someone I hear someone talk about an unfortunate
- 49:31you know, running with a celebrity, I'm I'm not surprised anymore. Um.
- 49:35The weird thing though, to me about Gene Simmons is how he put
- 49:40himself on this pedestal bragging about how many women he had slept with and and
- 49:45and then just basically making it seem like he was God's gift to women until
- 49:51the day that it it got leaked, that sex tape of him with someone
- 49:57and all all that stuff on a pedestal. The luster of him being just
- 50:01some fantastic rock star swordsman with the ladies all went out the window because you
- 50:07basically saw him and in this video and it was such a letdown. I
- 50:13felt bad not only for the girl. I felt bad. I felt bad
- 50:16for the bed, I felt bad for the camera. I felt bad for
- 50:21the guests, like the front desk person had to check them into that hotel.
- 50:24Well, I mean, what was it that was so bad? It's
- 50:28about seven seconds, oh, basically about about the length of one of Kisses
- 50:35intros on their songs. So Jean doesn't rock and roll all night, no
- 50:38no, no, but he can hit the post. Visit us online at

- 51:14Let's get Daniel Cook in here, and Daniel, I'm curious if a homeowners
- 51:17out there, they had some damage to the roof, they had the insurance
- 51:21come out, an insurance sent them a nice big check for twenty five thousand
- 51:23dollars, but they've decided now, ooh, maybe I can shop this around
- 51:28and try to get some estimates, see if I can find someone willing to
- 51:30do the job for twenty and pocket five Grants had a good idea. Hey,
- 51:34Dan, Hey, no, it's not at all because a lot of
- 51:36times people will get that first check and they start thinking, well, I'm
- 51:39sure I can get this done cheaper, and what happens is like everything in
- 51:43life. You know, if you got a check from your health insurance provider
- 51:46to get a back operation for fifty thousand, and you found another doctor that
- 51:50was going to do it for thirty I don't know if I let that doctor
- 51:52do my back operation. And that's the same thing in your house too.
- 51:57When you're dealing with an expensive item much your house, it's worth four or
- 52:00five six hundred thousand dollars, and your roof sometimes could be worth thirty or
- 52:05forty thousand, and you find another roofing company that says, yeah, we'll
- 52:07do it for twenty five. There's some red flags there, Dan. They're
- 52:10not going to put a quality product on your house for twenty five thousand dollars.
- 52:15That's not going to happen. You think, if it does, everybody
- 52:17out there would be doing it. And that's just not how you do it.
- 52:21So the quality products, quality craftsmanship, you know, workmanship, warranties
- 52:25that are going to be there long after the trucks pulling away from your curb.
- 52:30We don't do tell light warranties. And I know there's a lot of
- 52:31companies out there that do telllight warranties. Dan, do you know what a
- 52:35tail light warranty is? I do not. Once you see the tail lights
- 52:38leave the neighborhood, your warranty is gone, sir. So that's the biggest
- 52:42difference is we have a store that you can walk into, you can come
- 52:45see us. We're going to stand behind our products, our workmanship, our
- 52:49name. Everything is going to be there for you because we want you to
- 52:52have a long term success with your roof, not just something fly by night
- 52:57just save you money. Yeah, and then lesson in there. Don't cut
- 53:00corners, especially when it comes to doing things that are on your house.

- 53:29thirty eight. The website Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com. All right, Jacqueline,
- 53:31it's hot as hell outside. I'm wondering. Has anyone called you guys
- 53:36yet to complain about their pipes melting? No, but I did have a
- 53:39woman call me last week. She's from California. She's a transplant. I
- 53:44don't know what's happening. All of a sudden, my upstairs bathroom sink is
- 53:47overflowing and nobody even uses it. I'm let me stop you. It's probably
- 53:52hotter here right now than it is normally. I don't know. I've never
- 53:55lived in California. Over the course of a summer, and for most people,
- 54:00when you start seeing a sync overflowing that you never use it, it's
- 54:04typically because your ac condensate drainline has gotten stopped up, and it's just it
- 54:07probably dumps into that vanity drainline. And that's exactly what was going on at
- 54:12her house. Oh, I just don't understand how you could know that.
- 54:15I'm like, well, you know, one, It's happened at my house
- 54:17too. You know, after a while, you can only come up with
- 54:21so many new problems and plumbing, but we try to make the necessary adjustments
- 54:24and not predict your issues, but to be smart about them so I can
- 54:30send you the right technician with the right materials. You know, if you've
- 54:32got a water heater in the attic and it's time to replace it, we're
- 54:36only booking those first thing in the morning because it gets hotter in the attic
- 54:39as the day goes on, and I have to take care of my guys
- 54:42too, so I'm not gonna respectfully book anybody's water heater replacement in the attic
- 54:46at three thirty in the afternoon, when it's reading one hundred and forty two
- 54:50degrees in the attic. It's not good for you if my guy falls through
- 54:52the rafters and you know, lands on the first floor because he's passed out
- 54:55due to heat exhaustion. So you just gotta plan for the worst. And
- 55:00what do the Marines say? Planned for the best and prepare for the worst.
- 55:05That's what they say. I thought it was adapt and overcome. Yeah,
- 55:07that too. Whatever, simplify whatever. Two one four three six eight

- 55:51For any and all of your plumbing once and needs. Give our friends
- 55:57at Brooks Plumbing a call. The website Rooks Plumbing Texas dot com It's been
- 56:04a lot of fun catching up with Euangel. It's been been far too long,
- 56:07it has been, but I'm glad to do it at at you know,
- 56:14at some point, because I know that it gets weird when when you're
- 56:16in radio for so many years it becomes your life and everything. I think
- 56:21this is true for most people's jobs. It's like most of their you know,
- 56:23life kind of revolves around their work if they're really committed to it.
- 56:27You know, Yeah, and you're in radio and you lasted more than two
- 56:30seconds, you were absolutely because it'll it'll, it'll find the herd real fast,
- 56:35whether or not you want to be there doing it. Yeah, and
- 56:40uh so. It's it's interesting when you're no longer doing radio, all of
- 56:45a sudden, the people that you don't talk to anymore who were still in
- 56:50radio, because sometimes you start to think, like do I have the plague
- 56:52or something? Why don't they talk And then you realize, oh, it's
- 56:55nothing to do with me. It's just because you know they're a holes and
- 57:00they probably really weren't your friend in the first place. If you know,
- 57:04if things, if if situations change, and all of a sudden you don't
- 57:07ever hear from from people anymore, or they're just so busy doing the jobs
- 57:13of eighteen people that they don't have time to communicate with anybody that they don't
- 57:16work with. And that is the flip side and the differences. Those people
- 57:21still find time to contact you, even though they're doing the jobs of eighteen
- 57:27freaking people. Know that. And and once you're let go, you're you're
- 57:31an unfortunate reminder of the reality of the business, which is, you know,
- 57:36for people that are still in it, you're you're so disposable. Oh
- 57:39you are. That's something to keep in mind, especially you know, with
- 57:43with our situations trade. It's like, you know, uh, when we
- 57:46were at CBS, the show was still doing really well in the ratings,
- 57:51and uh, we still go all got let go. Yeah, so it's
- 57:53sort of like, if it can happen to us, it can happen to
- 57:57you. Um. And then at The Eagle, it was a somewhat similar
- 58:00situation. The show was doing really well until outside forces started, you know,
- 58:07acting upon it. Um, you know, having the show cut in
- 58:10half, having you know, basketball cutting into our limited showtime affected our ratings,
- 58:19and um, and the and the craft cut all around you. I
- 58:23didn't say that I did. I liked the guy from DC who did night
- 58:37I got a snort out of tray that made the day work. See,
- 58:44I'm so out of it. I don't even know who that is. Like
- 58:45I I actually had a clinger. His name was Clinger. Yeah, So
- 58:52I just I stopped listening to well after, so did everyone else. So
- 58:58I was listening to you earlier podcast when you were talking It's true, Angela,
- 59:04don't mind him, he's just craping up. No. You mentioned a
- 59:07certain program director in one of the podcasts that I listened to to prep for
- 59:12this that was the one who let me go. And um, let's just
- 59:16say I enjoyed hearing the story about the stolen burritos. Yeah, I just
- 59:29I don't know when I would see people get laid off. It was just
- 59:30kind of like, okay, is there is there gonna be a round three?
- 59:34It's kind of it's like boxing, you know, It's like, okay,
- 59:36you're gonna be up for another round. And I think after my last
- 59:39like gig where I made a lot of money, well I shouldn't say a
- 59:43lot of it. I made a lot of money relative to every other radio
- 59:45job I had, and the amount of work that I had to do relative
- 59:50to the amount of work that he had done the past for less money.
- 59:53But my last good like you know, gig, you know, I mean,
- 59:59it wasn't anything personal. It was it was something that I can't discuss
- 1:00:01here um, but it was just like, I was just like, I
- 1:00:05don't have the energy to try to start all over again at fifteen dollars an
- 1:00:08hour, working two hours a week. I mean, it's just not worth
- 1:00:13it too manymore So, I was just like, you know, I kind
- 1:00:15of want to leave on my own accord and just at least have that that
- 1:00:19bit of control I can at least say that, you know, yeah,
- 1:00:22And then and and I think that that's I think that's great. And it's
- 1:00:24not like and unfortunately your situation, our situation is not entirely unique. I
- 1:00:30mean almost exactly what you said was something that Jagger said when when his time
- 1:00:37came up and his and his card got punched at iHeartRadio, and it was
- 1:00:43a similar thing. He was like, you know what, I'm hanging up
- 1:00:45the headphones. I don't have the energy for this anymore. I'm tired of
- 1:00:46it. I'm it's like and you get it. And then Trey you're also
- 1:00:50right, Um, the people that are still there doing it, they don't
- 1:00:53want to see you or think about you, because it is a reminder thinking
- 1:00:57that, my god, if they let that person go, you know,
- 1:01:00and they're good at what they Yeah, and the flip side is someone who
- 1:01:05is actually really good at what they do, like you said, Angela,
- 1:01:08you know, being you know, not just asked, but being commanded to
- 1:01:13do the jobs of multiple people and care whereas so many others don't. It's
- 1:01:19it is. It's taxing, to say the least. I'm pretty sure I
- 1:01:23got laid off from one of my jobs for asking for a raise. Oh.
- 1:01:29I don't doubt that at all. Yeah. Yeah, but oh well,
- 1:01:34how dare you? Oh? I know, And every time they'd be
- 1:01:37like, hey, do you want to do this, and I'd be like,
- 1:01:38sure, am I going to get more money? They were like,
- 1:01:39well, this is an opportunity. I was like, well, I've been
- 1:01:43doing this for ten years now, so I'd really rather just have the money,
- 1:01:46less opportunities and more money. Yeah, that works for me. Yeah.
- 1:01:52At that point, I think I would have responded, you're right,
- 1:01:53it is an opportunity for you to pay me more money. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:01:57and I don't want to be paid in tickets either, because I've been
- 1:01:59to every show at least five times, so I really just want the money,
- 1:02:01just want the money. That would be great, although now concert tickets
- 1:02:06are so expensive. If I were given permission to be able to sell said
- 1:02:09tickets, that might be better than the money, honestly. And that's the
- 1:02:14reason why so many people have really popped out of radio, because they were
- 1:02:17paid so little. They got in trouble for selling those tickets to people.
- 1:02:22Do you remember my best friend in radio whenever I first started out and did
- 1:02:27promotions, you were half of Yes, I remember Erica, of course,
- 1:02:31I remember you guy. You guys went everywhere together. We were Angierica.
- 1:02:36That was my MySpace name, half of Agierica. How many times did y'all
- 1:02:40get laid off? Just the two? Just the two for the two format
- 1:02:49flips. Okay, see, I've been laid I was laid off three times,
- 1:02:52but one of them was like doing traffic, like from a traffic network,
- 1:02:55and you know, those things were always getting bought and sold and going
- 1:02:58out of business. So but they asked me come back, So that's good.
- 1:03:04But you know, uh, so you know I worked at Carold and
- 1:03:10my husband's aunt started Restaurant Week. She was a sales rep at Carold and
- 1:03:15she was when who started Restaurant Week in Dallas. And yes, did she
- 1:03:20have to start that because they didn't pay her enough so she had to go
- 1:03:22to restaurants for plug Ola to be able to eat. Well, she did.
- 1:03:25She did sales. So she has a very lovely home on Swiss Avenue.
- 1:03:30So no, she she did just fine. Yeah, she's fabulous.
- 1:03:32I love her. But she actually she and some of the other people that
- 1:03:37have retired from Carold they did a reunion. It was a CAROLDI reunion and
- 1:03:43they had it at El Phoenix down or up No Victory Park, El Phoenix
- 1:03:46and running out this whole room and I mean, you know that station has
- 1:03:50been around for like ninety years or whatever, so it was like, I
- 1:03:53mean tons and tons and tons of people. I mean there were over one
- 1:03:57hundred people there. It was really really cool. So maybe somebody should end
- 1:04:00up doing an Eagle reunion. I think she locked up really bad. Station
- 1:04:08has been around forever it has and it's probably because they have better technical ability
- 1:04:15than we do. See that that's what happens when you have just enough money
- 1:04:21to pay a full time engineer, you get the good Internet. Maybe that's
- 1:04:29part of the problem, is that the Internet I'm using is actually I'm don't
- 1:04:33tell anybody, but I'm on the iHeart Wi Fi STU. Surprise, it
- 1:04:40still works. It's not some hamster spent in a wheel. Oh no,
- 1:04:45that hamster was. That hamster died a long, long time ago. Now
- 1:04:48it's just a series of Wi Fi extenders that I've strategically placed down the toll.
