- 0:06Speaker 3: you should absolutely be watching wonder Man right now.
- 0:21Speaker 1: And what's up y'all?
- 0:22Speaker 4: Welcome back to another episode of the four All Nerds show.
- 0:25Speaker 4: It's your boy, DJ Pin I mean aka Lebron Shamee
- 0:30Speaker 4: wanted to manage the Mandarin Orange Black the King Kirby
- 0:35Speaker 4: Tannerman Lee stop Pilgrim here in the spaceship tonight, and
- 0:40Speaker 4: as always, I'm joined.
- 0:41Speaker 3: By Tatiana King, the Grand that was a tech also
- 0:44Speaker 3: known as Tatiana Kang, the Conqueror, the Wicked Witch of
- 0:47Speaker 3: the West View, Coldest Winter of Soldier ever, doc Ockey
- 0:51Speaker 3: Doctor doing some strange for some.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Change, and he who cannot be shamed.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Mmm mm hmmm hmm.
- 0:58Speaker 4: And as you can tell about our Marvel akas not
- 1:02Speaker 4: by our Flex Luthor shirts, we are here to discuss
- 1:07Speaker 4: the latest Marvel series, the new Marvel Spotlight series, premiering
- 1:11Speaker 4: on Disney Plus on January twenty seventh.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Wonder Man, hmm, I have a question real quick, what
- 1:21Speaker 3: is the difference between just Marvel stuff and Marvel Spotlight.
- 1:24Speaker 4: I need mar Spotlight is when they intend to never
- 1:27Speaker 4: do another one with them.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I mean, like all bullshit aside, Like.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I don't mean to be arch, but I feel like,
- 1:39Speaker 4: you know, we put a spotlight on this, and then
- 1:41Speaker 4: we're gonna put a spotlight on something else, and then
- 1:43Speaker 4: we're gonna put a spotlight on something else.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Is what Marvel Spotlight series are about? It?
- 1:47Speaker 3: It says, it says, and I just googled there real quick,
- 1:49Speaker 3: and it says new Disney plus branding for standalone street
- 1:52Speaker 3: level MCU stories like Echo, don't say Echo.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Oh my god, you'll never see Echo again?
- 1:57Speaker 3: So oh my, so you might be right, man stuffing
- 2:01Speaker 3: you may never see again?
- 2:03Speaker 1: What was Werewolf by Night? And I don't even feel
- 2:05Speaker 1: like I don't remember this Marble spotlight being on Echo?
- 2:07Speaker 1: Was it? Maybe it was?
- 2:08Speaker 3: It said like Echo is it's designed for broader audiences,
- 2:11Speaker 3: my focus on grounded, character driven averatis and less to
- 2:13Speaker 3: major crossovers. Okay, it says from the twenty twenty four
- 2:19Speaker 3: to present. So it said began with Echo in twenty four.
- 2:22Speaker 4: So I was not Werewolf by Night, all right? And
- 2:25Speaker 4: you know, I don't think we ever go see Wherewolf
- 2:26Speaker 4: by Night again?
- 2:27Speaker 1: Either?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Damn Well, I mean I don't care.
- 2:31Speaker 4: But I enjoyed Werewolf by Night whether or not I
- 2:34Speaker 4: need to see him again.
- 2:35Speaker 1: There's another question, you know, who knows?
- 2:37Speaker 4: I don't remember who about, we don't remember who played them.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Okay, so that means all right, Marvel Spotlight.
- 2:46Speaker 4: So yes, we are here on the Marvel Spotlight. And
- 2:51Speaker 4: this is well, it's not like Echo because.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Echo was on Hulu.
- 2:54Speaker 4: This is all Disney Plush and it is an eight
- 2:57Speaker 4: episode series. All eight episodes will be off on January
- 3:01Speaker 4: twenty seventh. We are not going to spoil anything you
- 3:04Speaker 4: know major yeah, nothing, you know, nothing you ever seen
- 3:07Speaker 4: in the previews or that you don't already know about
- 3:09Speaker 4: to saying tell you how we feel, what we thought,
- 3:12Speaker 4: and why we feel like you should watch it. And
- 3:15Speaker 4: that's my first thing. I will say that you should
- 3:18Speaker 4: watch it. I do want to say this. It is
- 3:20Speaker 4: produced and show worn by Dustin, Daniel Creton and Andrew Guests.
- 3:25Speaker 4: And I said this on a previous episode of for
- 3:28Speaker 4: Our Nerds. I really truly don't understand why Disney is
- 3:32Speaker 4: not pumping this show other than the fact that it's
- 3:35Speaker 4: black people and that's how they use it.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And led by an Asian man.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah, who did.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Shangshi and is doing the upcoming Spider Man and was
- 3:46Speaker 4: about Disney was giving him the reins to Avengers before
- 3:50Speaker 4: Jonathan Major's winning did what he did, so they obviously
- 3:54Speaker 4: trust this dude. They're still giving him Spider Man, which
- 3:57Speaker 4: is one of their biggest franchises, but yet they argua
- 4:01Speaker 4: me no, I mean bare minimum love the one the man.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yeah, he's also go ahead.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Yeah, like I said on the previous episode, I think
- 4:08Speaker 4: that's because you know, like I said, it's a black
- 4:10Speaker 4: person and they trust people like us and shows like
- 4:13Speaker 4: us to do the work.
- 4:17Speaker 3: He's also joined by Andrew Guest, who is known for
- 4:20Speaker 3: Community and Hawkeye.
- 4:21Speaker 1: So from most other things.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Brooklyn ninety nine.
- 4:27Speaker 4: You know, like those are great shows. If you're you know,
- 4:30Speaker 4: you got that pedigree, you're gonna do good work.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Well, they both have seen have a pedigree and don't
- 4:34Speaker 3: seem to have the back And I asked about this,
- 4:38Speaker 3: and I don't understand you. I will get into that
- 4:40Speaker 3: later because I do want to hear your take on
- 4:42Speaker 3: what you felt about the series. We did get to
- 4:43Speaker 3: see all eight episodes ahead of time, ahead of the game,
- 4:47Speaker 3: and please continue, all right.
- 4:50Speaker 4: So overall, when I thought about the series, I really
- 4:53Speaker 4: enjoyed it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: First off, I really truly enjoyed it.
- 4:57Speaker 4: I said this in Disney asked us because Disney wanted
- 5:01Speaker 4: us actually to watch all eight really quickly because they
- 5:05Speaker 4: were asking for a turnaround just to get some feedback
- 5:08Speaker 4: on it. And I told them straight up, I said,
- 5:12Speaker 4: I really enjoyed this series. I think it's one of
- 5:14Speaker 4: the more daring series that Marvel's done, considering that there
- 5:18Speaker 4: is bare minimum amount of superhero's and I.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Mean the bare minimal.
- 5:23Speaker 4: I'm out of superheroics, and it really is about a
- 5:27Speaker 4: character who is just trying to become an actor, a
- 5:31Speaker 4: successful actor in Hollywood, and they just happen to have
- 5:34Speaker 4: superpowers and it happens to take place in the MCU.
- 5:38Speaker 4: And because of that, I thought it was a really refreshing,
- 5:42Speaker 4: really great take. And I think it's one of those
- 5:45Speaker 4: shows where it's not it gives you an insider view
- 5:49Speaker 4: of Hollywood that I really enjoyed. As someone who spent
- 5:51Speaker 4: some time on the inside of Hollywood, I really enjoy
- 5:55Speaker 4: those type of things. I felt like, while not as
- 5:58Speaker 4: I've spot all about Hollywood operates, it's just not I
- 6:01Speaker 4: would say it's incisive as something like Barry, which I
- 6:05Speaker 4: think is one of the best shows to tell people
- 6:07Speaker 4: about inside Hollywood.
- 6:09Speaker 1: You know, it's about an assassin.
- 6:11Speaker 4: You know, it just really gets what Hollywood is also
- 6:13Speaker 4: about because it's about an assassin who's trying to become
- 6:15Speaker 4: an actor. And this is about you know, struggling superhero
- 6:20Speaker 4: and I mean not even superhero's just a super powered
- 6:22Speaker 4: individual who is trying to become an actor.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And I really really enjoyed that.
- 6:26Speaker 4: And I think ya Ya just absolutely kills it as
- 6:29Speaker 4: Simon Williams, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, right, I mean
- 6:35Speaker 4: he's been killing this Trevor. But I think the dynamic
- 6:39Speaker 4: duo of yah Ya and Been Together is something I
- 6:43Speaker 4: really didn't expect. I remember when they're like Trevor's to
- 6:46Speaker 4: be in this series, I'm like, for what. And I
- 6:49Speaker 4: would watch them play Simon and Williams and Trevor and
- 6:53Speaker 4: do anything, like you could have a pot, be anything.
- 6:56Speaker 4: It doesn't matter what the plot is. And if they
- 6:59Speaker 4: ever do turn to wonder Man to plot of the
- 7:01Speaker 4: next one, it's going to be radically different than this
- 7:04Speaker 4: and I would love to see it because yeah, they're
- 7:07Speaker 4: absolutely I mean we all know being Kingsey is just man.
- 7:10Speaker 4: But yah, y'all, Hill's it as Simon Williams. And let
- 7:14Speaker 4: me say, man, that man smiled, Like that is what
- 7:16Speaker 4: it means to have a like beautiful fucking smile.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Smile right show. When that man smiles, I'm like, this
- 7:24Speaker 1: is why the money, you know.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Like it was just like when I was on the
- 7:28Speaker 4: set of Captain Marvel and I felt like I was
- 7:30Speaker 4: the ugliest person in the room. You know, I just
- 7:31Speaker 4: felt like horrific, you know, because I'm like, all these people.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Are you know, I mean, but they also have money
- 7:37Speaker 3: to make sure their appearance is as top notch a
- 7:40Speaker 3: spot not.
- 7:41Speaker 4: But it was like, you know, Captain Marvel was filled
- 7:43Speaker 4: with some beautiful people, fam and I felt.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Like a goon, your goon. Yeah yeah, y'all got that smile, boy,
- 7:57Speaker 1: There's no denying that.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:59Speaker 3: So, so as far as what I thought about the
- 8:01Speaker 3: series overall, it really surprised me in the best way
- 8:05Speaker 3: in that I was not checking for wonder Man. I
- 8:08Speaker 3: think I even told you that I wasn't really excited
- 8:10Speaker 3: to watch it. The little bit of promo that it
- 8:14Speaker 3: did get give didn't give anything to me. Like in
- 8:18Speaker 3: terms of really understanding what was going on. I had
- 8:21Speaker 3: absolutely no backstory or detail about wonder Man, like many
- 8:26Speaker 3: people who are gonna come into this. And sometimes that's
- 8:31Speaker 3: a good thing, obviously, because then it gives you a
- 8:33Speaker 3: blank canvas to start on. And sometimes especially it's like
- 8:37Speaker 3: a double edged sword it, particularly when it comes to Marvel,
- 8:39Speaker 3: because they've had this formulaic approach and the way that
- 8:43Speaker 3: they've done things where it's just like you expect some
- 8:45Speaker 3: type of tie to a character you know or a
- 8:48Speaker 3: story you know, and they do that a little bit
- 8:50Speaker 3: because they included Trevor Slattery aka the Mandarin or Fake Mandarin.
- 8:54Speaker 3: But it's different, and so I wasn't sure what to
- 8:59Speaker 3: ex Then I thought the previews were a little weird.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I was like, are they just trying to be kitchy
- 9:05Speaker 3: and off?
- 9:07Speaker 2: Just different? Right? And I'm like, are y'all trying too hard?
- 9:09Speaker 3: But is this I was changed after the first episode.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I was like, I get it, to your point.
- 9:17Speaker 3: It is exactly like it has a lot of like
- 9:20Speaker 3: the background of trying to make it in Hollywood and
- 9:23Speaker 3: what and a little bit you told me you mentioned
- 9:25Speaker 3: at some point you said a little bit of Hollywood shuffle,
- 9:27Speaker 3: and they're just like, what they really like to be
- 9:31Speaker 3: an actor in this space and try to come up
- 9:33Speaker 3: in this space and the way people really be treating
- 9:36Speaker 3: you in this position, Like obviously a lot of people
- 9:38Speaker 3: know it's not all glamorous, but really to be in
- 9:40Speaker 3: the trenches driving that beat, beat up car and trying
- 9:45Speaker 3: to make it like it's wild, so it's really it
- 9:49Speaker 3: was really refreshing to see that and this whole thing.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It's so well written and it's so much less.
- 9:55Speaker 3: About superhero and powers, even though for those who are
- 9:59Speaker 3: worried it's all over the season.
- 10:02Speaker 2: You'll see it.
- 10:03Speaker 3: It's less about that though, and more so about the character,
- 10:06Speaker 3: more about the person, more about their journey and how
- 10:10Speaker 3: they grow or resessed or whatever the case may be.
- 10:14Speaker 3: And yah yah, I do my teaen the second he
- 10:17Speaker 3: delivers that flawlessly.
- 10:19Speaker 2: And for me, I was like, I really want to
- 10:22Speaker 2: interview him.
- 10:23Speaker 3: We've interviewed many years ago, back when he gets cancer,
- 10:25Speaker 3: but I really want to interview him now just to
- 10:27Speaker 3: catch up, but also to be like, how did you
- 10:30Speaker 3: do this, bro? Because to me it was like inception
- 10:32Speaker 3: levels that what he was doing, like he is an
- 10:34Speaker 3: actor of real life playing an actor in his show
- 10:37Speaker 3: that's playing another actor trying to get an acting gig.
- 10:40Speaker 3: And I was just like, how do you begin to
- 10:43Speaker 3: even separate yourself to be able to deliver that type
- 10:45Speaker 3: of character or is it really is it a piece
- 10:47Speaker 3: of you that's in there? A lot of actors will
- 10:49Speaker 3: say that, but like, at what point where does the
- 10:51Speaker 3: character stop and where do you begin? And vice versa.
- 10:54Speaker 3: So to see that complexity in the delivery of the
- 10:58Speaker 3: character and then in the creation of Simon Williams, it
- 11:01Speaker 3: made me care, Like I was like by the like
- 11:05Speaker 3: really by the first episode. And in the first episode,
- 11:07Speaker 3: I was like, oh, okay, not only is this well
- 11:10Speaker 3: written and it's clever and I'm into it, I actually
- 11:13Speaker 3: care about this character and his next steps, about what
- 11:16Speaker 3: is his journey as mentioned, what's his journey gonna look like?
- 11:18Speaker 3: Who are the people he gonna run to to make
- 11:20Speaker 3: it through his journey? Is he gonna win by the end?
- 11:22Speaker 1: Right?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Is he gonna get what he has been searching for?
- 11:25Speaker 3: Is he gonna get the gig and all this stuff?
- 11:28Speaker 3: And you also touched upon another point, what a really
- 11:31Speaker 3: big strength about this show, Sir Ben Kingsley, the legend,
- 11:35Speaker 3: the God, like he can he can do anything, right,
- 11:39Speaker 3: we know this, Yeah, them together is so perfect and
- 11:42Speaker 3: I did not realize it, Like I feel like they Trojanhorse,
- 11:45Speaker 3: this Trevor Slattery Mandarin character into this because just like you,
- 11:49Speaker 3: I was like, why the hell.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Is he here? But I loved it.
- 11:52Speaker 3: It worked because it was like, here's a character that
- 11:55Speaker 3: essentially just became the butt of jokes after years at Marvel,
- 11:58Speaker 3: after it was revealed that back when what I'm in
- 12:01Speaker 3: three or whatever, when he appeared, he's just like, oh,
- 12:03Speaker 3: he's just an actor, you know, he's a fake where
- 12:05Speaker 3: he just literally every time he was mentioned that it
- 12:08Speaker 3: was just a joke, like a you see the actual
- 12:10Speaker 3: person behind this so called Mandarin, the fake Mandarin, right,
- 12:14Speaker 3: you see the human being behind it. You see the
- 12:18Speaker 3: kind of the shyster, but also like the redemption behind it.
- 12:22Speaker 3: And then to couple him with Simon, who's this guy
- 12:25Speaker 3: who he's out there, as mentioned in the trenches, struggling
- 12:28Speaker 3: and he's a little too serious about himself, right, He's
- 12:31Speaker 3: always in his head, he's always bruding. Then here come
- 12:33Speaker 3: Trevor talking about Hey, man, just takes some ean, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 3: live your life like that. That's such a great foil.
- 12:40Speaker 3: So to see that approach in this show, and it's
- 12:45Speaker 3: that's at the forefront, that's what you learn, that's.
- 12:47Speaker 2: What you get, and then they go through shenanigans. Like
- 12:50Speaker 2: I was, I was really.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Presently surprised, and I really really enjoyed wonder Man.
- 12:56Speaker 4: M h our second, every thing you said right there
- 13:00Speaker 4: about Trevor about wonder Man. And I do want to
- 13:04Speaker 4: say this because this was my very first note on
- 13:07Speaker 4: the very first episode. As I'm writing, I said that
- 13:10Speaker 4: Simon Williams would talk himself out of of course, I'm
- 13:17Speaker 4: gonna let y'all know. You know, you might not know
- 13:21Speaker 4: about my smooth devon air style on Fall Nerds.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I was that man. I talked myself out of.
- 13:28Speaker 4: More, more, more everything, and more anything than you could
- 13:35Speaker 4: imagine as a youth, especially when it came to women.
- 13:38Speaker 4: And we know not as much as anything else that
- 13:40Speaker 4: I was always the person who I am who would
- 13:42Speaker 4: just you know, if I saw an opportunity, I'd go
- 13:44Speaker 4: for it. I'm always thinking, you know, let me push this,
- 13:46Speaker 4: let me do that. But when it came to women,
- 13:49Speaker 4: oh my god, I was Simon like I would just
- 13:51Speaker 4: overthink everything, over say everything, and like how he talks
- 13:57Speaker 4: himself out of that thing, out of living being. That
- 14:01Speaker 4: was me and so it was really relatable for me.
- 14:04Speaker 4: And then also this interesting for me as a writer
- 14:07Speaker 4: to see this be your protagonist, you know, this type
- 14:11Speaker 4: of character be the protagonist, a character who you know,
- 14:15Speaker 4: most protagonists don't want to go on the adventure that
- 14:17Speaker 4: is in front of them, but a character who doesn't
- 14:20Speaker 4: even who wants the adventure, but then will ruin it
- 14:23Speaker 4: for himself, Oh.
- 14:24Speaker 2: My god, ruin it.
- 14:25Speaker 3: And also that they realize he's on the adventure too,
- 14:28Speaker 3: Like I think that's also like you're so like out
- 14:31Speaker 3: of it, like you're not even self aware of what's
- 14:32Speaker 3: happening right now.
- 14:34Speaker 4: It's one of my favorite jay Z quotes is I'll
- 14:37Speaker 4: I'll f up a good thing if you let me,
- 14:39Speaker 4: you know, And that is like that's somebody. And one
- 14:42Speaker 4: of my favorite Jadakis quotes is when shit be going right,
- 14:46Speaker 4: I flip it to the wrong shit, you know, like
- 14:49Speaker 4: because that's like, sadly, that is me, you know, that
- 14:52Speaker 4: is how I am sometimes like I'll have the best
- 14:54Speaker 4: opportunity and I'm like, ah, yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 1: It's terrible.
- 14:58Speaker 3: See the way you aligned with science in on that like,
- 15:01Speaker 3: that's the that's the character work, that's the psychology, that's
- 15:05Speaker 3: the oh, the relatability of the character because everyone can
- 15:10Speaker 3: see what's going on, but then a lot of people
- 15:12Speaker 3: can actually direct relate like damn, I get it, I
- 15:15Speaker 3: get it, I get it, I get it right, I understand.
- 15:19Speaker 3: And it's like he's wilding, but I get it. And
- 15:22Speaker 3: that that's again the beauty of this show. And and yes,
- 15:26Speaker 3: then you know, of course you throw in the marvel
- 15:28Speaker 3: of it, right, there's some there's superhero shit happening throughout
- 15:31Speaker 3: this there's powers that you see throughout that you know,
- 15:33Speaker 3: you don't got to wait to the end, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 3: like they show it eventually, and they show different things
- 15:38Speaker 3: happening with different people, So you get it, you know
- 15:40Speaker 3: what I'm saying, You get it all.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Really.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah, when I say it's not superheroes, it's definitely not an.
- 15:46Speaker 3: That's a hero forward, Like it's not just straight up
- 15:49Speaker 3: fighting power.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:51Speaker 4: And Simon Williams is the character winner Man. And I'm
- 15:55Speaker 4: actually going to do a video on this. But if
- 15:57Speaker 4: you're a fan of the comics, and if you're a
- 16:00Speaker 4: fan of wonder Man from the comics, I have to
- 16:03Speaker 4: warn you pretty much. The only association they have is
- 16:06Speaker 4: the powers and the fact that they're both actors and
- 16:10Speaker 4: the name Simon Williams wonder Man.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Other than that, these are two different characters.
- 16:15Speaker 4: You know, Simon in the comics as well, is this
- 16:19Speaker 4: same type of character who is a character who is
- 16:21Speaker 4: filled with Immn's power but doesn't believe in himself. You know,
- 16:25Speaker 4: that is Simon Williams in the comments for a long time.
- 16:28Speaker 4: I don't know what his person it is right now,
- 16:30Speaker 4: but in the comments that that was him, like for
- 16:31Speaker 4: a long time. Because he's a person who can fight
- 16:34Speaker 4: with people like Hulk and Thor. You know, he can
- 16:37Speaker 4: trade punctions with them, but he would not be willing
- 16:40Speaker 4: to do it because he just did not believe he
- 16:41Speaker 4: could do it. Yeah, And so that's you know, that
- 16:45Speaker 4: is something they do share. And while I was a
- 16:48Speaker 4: person who loved wonder Man, I don't think that this
- 16:51Speaker 4: is too much of a change from the character. Like,
- 16:54Speaker 4: you know, it is a radically different character. I think
- 16:56Speaker 4: it's still a great interpretation of wonder Man, Okay, And
- 17:00Speaker 4: his acting is something that is essential to wonder Man,
- 17:03Speaker 4: and that's something wonder Man as well.
- 17:05Speaker 1: He never really wants to be a superhero.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Like I say, he doesn't want to be out there
- 17:09Speaker 4: punching for or whoever the bad guy the weeks.
- 17:12Speaker 1: He'd rather be a Hollywood superstar.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah, And when we talk about the reinterpretation of character,
- 17:18Speaker 3: they put that directly in some of the plot lines
- 17:21Speaker 3: of the show.
- 17:22Speaker 2: And this is this his public knowledge.
- 17:23Speaker 3: But like just the fact that you can't have powers
- 17:27Speaker 3: and be an actor, like you can't be as part
- 17:29Speaker 3: and they explain why. But like that is another dynamic
- 17:33Speaker 3: that's actually once again really smart because as mentioned, it
- 17:36Speaker 3: doesn't make it super focused.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Like it's not about the powers and it's not about what.
- 17:41Speaker 3: The universe is, and like it's just like this is
- 17:44Speaker 3: this guy on the ground that yeah, he got these powers,
- 17:46Speaker 3: but also he's trying to make it right, Like this
- 17:49Speaker 3: is the first thing that he's trying to do and
- 17:52Speaker 3: he gets into things.
- 17:54Speaker 2: A question I have for you because you do.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Know the backstory of wonder Man all this, and granted
- 17:59Speaker 3: this is a reinterpretation, it's wonder manam mutant.
- 18:02Speaker 1: No, no, not at all.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Now, Now what he is in this show, I don't know.
- 18:11Speaker 4: It's not exactly explained. It's kind of a nebulous origin.
- 18:15Speaker 4: As to where the powers come from, they.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Don't explain it at all, nebulous. Hell, they don't say
- 18:20Speaker 3: shit about where it comes from.
- 18:21Speaker 2: It just dare. So let's be clear, like this.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Flashla he does, yeah, flash flats where he doesn't have
- 18:28Speaker 4: the powers, and then to at some point right he
- 18:31Speaker 4: gets them right.
- 18:32Speaker 3: But and that what I'm saying, is he at least
- 18:34Speaker 3: in this version, is he in fact mutine? I mean
- 18:37Speaker 3: it would it will align with the mc U timeline
- 18:39Speaker 3: about where they're going.
- 18:41Speaker 2: It would make sense because you know.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Mutants don't automatically have the powers like they you know,
- 18:45Speaker 3: it's like a puberty comes around puberty.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, Now, I mean maybe you know. I don't mean.
- 18:54Speaker 2: You're saying in the comics, no, but get the powers
- 18:57Speaker 2: from that.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And the comics.
- 18:59Speaker 4: He okay, And I gotta remember this, but if I
- 19:04Speaker 4: exactly what are off top? What I remember is Simon
- 19:07Speaker 4: Williams is an inventor, industrialist what they called him, and
- 19:11Speaker 4: it's a kid I to this death, I don't know
- 19:12Speaker 4: what industrialist is, but anyway, he was that and he
- 19:15Speaker 4: was like a rival of Tony Stark. But he didn't
- 19:17Speaker 4: do well, so he went to the mob to get
- 19:20Speaker 4: some money. The mob give him some money, and they
- 19:23Speaker 4: also involve him with this crew called the Masters of Evil.
- 19:27Speaker 4: And the Masters of Evil were like the evil Avejurans.
- 19:30Speaker 4: They were like the Legion of Doom for Marvel. And
- 19:33Speaker 4: so they give him the powers, you know, why they
- 19:38Speaker 4: give it to this random dude instead of somebody else,
- 19:40Speaker 4: who know, They give him hell of power.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Like I said, like.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Simon Williams is imbued with ionic energy, like eventually he
- 19:47Speaker 4: doesn't He's not even really human anymore. He is just
- 19:50Speaker 4: like an energy being that can resemble a human form,
- 19:54Speaker 4: you know, and he is dumb powerful by that, you know,
- 19:58Speaker 4: so strong con fly can shoot beams eventually, Mainly like
- 20:04Speaker 4: when I was reading him, he wasn't a flying shooting beams.
- 20:06Speaker 4: So he was just ridiculously strong and pretty much in vulnerable,
- 20:10Speaker 4: you know, and that was it. And he couldn't even fly.
- 20:12Speaker 4: That's why he had the jet pack or that he
- 20:14Speaker 4: had this jet belt, which I thought was the coolest
- 20:16Speaker 4: shit in the world. Okay, yeah, yeah, Mutant, I don't know,
- 20:20Speaker 4: like I said, I don't know if we're going to
- 20:22Speaker 4: see him again, and if we do, I don't know
- 20:24Speaker 4: if his powers will ever be explained, and they.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Don't necessarily have to, but I was just curious, like
- 20:31Speaker 3: it's giving mutant at least, you.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Know, and it feels like there might even be something
- 20:36Speaker 4: left on the writing room where it's like, yeah, he's
- 20:38Speaker 4: a mutant, you know, like something was left, you know,
- 20:40Speaker 4: because like we said, there's there's a point where the
- 20:43Speaker 4: power seemed to appear, and that's really given mutant because
- 20:48Speaker 4: it's not only with puberty. It's always a traumatic experience,
- 20:52Speaker 4: correct that charges you know, there's like ah powers, you know,
- 20:56Speaker 4: so yeah, life, you know, I mean my life.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Is there about a metaphor for puberty?
- 21:04Speaker 4: You know, because it's like, you know, the angry thirteen
- 21:06Speaker 4: year old it's like fuck everything, rage.
- 21:09Speaker 1: You know?
- 21:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, yeah, okay, all right, that's I just
- 21:15Speaker 3: had that question, So I appreciate it could be.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Yeah, And one thing I also want to mention because
- 21:20Speaker 4: this was like me as I'm watching it right, I'm
- 21:23Speaker 4: sitting there like waiting for the comic references to happen,
- 21:26Speaker 4: and like they introduced Simon Williams brother and if you
- 21:29Speaker 4: know the comics, Simon Williams brother is a character named
- 21:32Speaker 4: the Grim Reaper and they have a huge beef and
- 21:36Speaker 4: it just goes on for a long time, et cetera,
- 21:39Speaker 4: et cetera. I'm not gonna say, you know, I was
- 21:43Speaker 4: just waiting for these scenes. But one thing I did
- 21:45Speaker 4: really appreciate about Simon's family and about the show is
- 21:49Speaker 4: that in this version, Simon Williams is a Haitian American.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I was going to talk about that, yes, And.
- 21:54Speaker 4: I thought, first of all, in the comics, he's not
- 21:56Speaker 4: this as we know, he's a white man normally, you know,
- 21:59Speaker 4: it's not yah yah type.
- 22:01Speaker 1: You know, in the comics he's a white dude.
- 22:03Speaker 4: But I really love the Haitian American version that is
- 22:06Speaker 4: put into this show because it's one of those things
- 22:09Speaker 4: like when I talk about my draft and novel Jimmy
- 22:12Speaker 4: Henders Purple Hayes always say that it can either be
- 22:15Speaker 4: you can read it as a black space opera, or
- 22:18Speaker 4: you can read it as a black space opera. You know,
- 22:21Speaker 4: it can either be a space operator just happens to
- 22:23Speaker 4: that black people in it, or it could be a
- 22:25Speaker 4: space operator very black in his politics. I think wonder
- 22:29Speaker 4: Man is more the former where it is, while Ironheart
- 22:34Speaker 4: was more at a ladder, you know, oh.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Where like Americ just happens to be black in this
- 22:38Speaker 3: and they yeah, yeah, it's not like they don't shy
- 22:42Speaker 3: away from the fact that Haitian America.
- 22:45Speaker 2: But it's not like it's.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Not the leading factor if it makes no.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Sense, Yeah, but it's so well done in that sense
- 22:51Speaker 4: because he has his Haitian, his family, his Haitian his
- 22:55Speaker 4: mother especially is a mother.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, and.
- 22:59Speaker 4: I loved that about the show, I mean loved it.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I wanted to make mention of that because it was
- 23:07Speaker 3: so beautiful. And why Another reason that it irritates me
- 23:11Speaker 3: that this show is at least right now, doesn't have
- 23:14Speaker 3: a level of publicity it should because it's really doing
- 23:17Speaker 3: what people want, like yes, you know, the inclusion selves,
- 23:22Speaker 3: Like I just I don't know what else, how many
- 23:23Speaker 3: pounds people got to say it always makes money, so
- 23:26Speaker 3: and I don't know or remember any like really on
- 23:32Speaker 3: a large scale level like this, because technically, regardless of
- 23:34Speaker 3: how you see, it's still Marvel, right, that is of
- 23:36Speaker 3: Haitian descent, that has the Marvel brand behind them, if
- 23:41Speaker 3: you will, Right, even if they don't really do much
- 23:43Speaker 3: with the character, the fact is at least this one
- 23:45Speaker 3: time you have the weight of Marvel Disney behind you.
- 23:48Speaker 3: So for that to be a person, I'm not sure
- 23:52Speaker 3: if Yaya actually is, but at least his character presenting
- 23:54Speaker 3: as a Haitian American and as you said, his Haitian
- 23:57Speaker 3: family back there that that they're a prominent piece of
- 24:01Speaker 3: his journey of his life obviously, and the pot show
- 24:04Speaker 3: and the fact that because he is of hatred America
- 24:07Speaker 3: sent you see that their influence throughout, like just like
- 24:11Speaker 3: how a lot of times will say I'm black American, right,
- 24:13Speaker 3: a lot of times we say, well, that character that
- 24:15Speaker 3: was me, and my character, like my mother would have
- 24:18Speaker 3: popped out and said something, right, because that's our experience,
- 24:20Speaker 3: like we are in and involved people and similar to
- 24:24Speaker 3: I have very close Haitian friends who like it, like
- 24:27Speaker 3: the community comes out right and you know, and then
- 24:29Speaker 3: just like how they did during that when you meet
- 24:32Speaker 3: the family and the whole community behind the family and
- 24:35Speaker 3: all the taneticians are going that, but then also seeing
- 24:38Speaker 3: the the the cultural fools of it. He's eating festival
- 24:42Speaker 3: and eating pickolies and all this other stuff, right and
- 24:44Speaker 3: listening to common music like it's it's it's all there
- 24:48Speaker 3: and it's done at least from what I've seen someone
- 24:51Speaker 3: who's Hatitian can tell me otherwise, but it seems fairly
- 24:54Speaker 3: genuine and fairly authentic.
- 24:56Speaker 2: And they're speaking creole.
- 24:58Speaker 3: They're speaking cleo like every other word, like they're either
- 25:01Speaker 3: speaking straight creole or like they're doing like the creole
- 25:05Speaker 3: English switch off. Like a lot of times you see
- 25:07Speaker 3: that when people speak of Spanish speaking English, especially in New York.
- 25:09Speaker 2: You see that. Like that was fire to me. I
- 25:12Speaker 2: love that and I love seeing that.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Like you said, this guy, she just happens to be black,
- 25:17Speaker 3: and he happens to be Haitian American, and look, this
- 25:19Speaker 3: is this is the makeup of.
- 25:21Speaker 2: His life, does the makeup his family?
- 25:23Speaker 3: And also he's friends with Travers Lattery and all this
- 25:25Speaker 3: other crazy shit happens.
- 25:27Speaker 2: And he's in LA and this is the stuff that
- 25:29Speaker 2: happens in LA.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Like it's literally a microcosm of a life in America,
- 25:35Speaker 3: which involves many different cultures. That's what quote America is
- 25:40Speaker 3: supposed to be, right, So that's why I liked it.
- 25:43Speaker 2: It was just a reflection of what it is.
- 25:44Speaker 3: It wasn't contrived, it wasn't forced, it wasn't all. As
- 25:48Speaker 3: someone said on the Marvel Post today, about wonder Man.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Here come Negro man, like, no, it's oh Jesus, it
- 25:55Speaker 3: just happens to be.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Yes, they said that.
- 25:59Speaker 3: And again, just again when it comes to when we
- 26:04Speaker 3: say how Marvel promotes or does not promote these things
- 26:07Speaker 3: that really piss thet y'all because they do not or
- 26:10Speaker 3: I feel that they do not defend. This happened with
- 26:13Speaker 3: Reebe Williams, and it happens time and time again where
- 26:18Speaker 3: like they do not defend it. And I'm not saying
- 26:20Speaker 3: they jump into comments and you start seeing them trolling back. No,
- 26:23Speaker 3: it's just like by when I say defend, I mean
- 26:27Speaker 3: push it even more, put it in their face.
- 26:29Speaker 2: That's how you troll back as a multi billion dollar,
- 26:33Speaker 2: trillion dollar.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Multinational corporation, like that's you told by throwing more of
- 26:37Speaker 3: the money, the trillions into the fire, like oh you
- 26:39Speaker 3: don't like it, here's more of that person, because you
- 26:43Speaker 3: show that you actually back it instead we and you're.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Never gonna stop that. That's just the nature of the internet.
- 26:49Speaker 3: You get these every other comment and one was like okay, interesting,
- 26:51Speaker 3: another one was some racist shit.
- 26:54Speaker 2: I was just like, fuck, but I don't see no
- 26:56Speaker 2: defense of it.
- 26:57Speaker 1: That's not even like that's such low hanging fruit, Negro.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, like y'all gotta be more clever.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I love aist joke, like I love one,
- 27:07Speaker 4: you know, a good racist joke.
- 27:09Speaker 1: You know, I can't get enough of it.
- 27:11Speaker 3: But good it My my misgivings about how this is
- 27:17Speaker 3: partially promoted aside, like this is soup, This is really really,
- 27:22Speaker 3: really good, and they have a good one on their hands.
- 27:25Speaker 3: I just wish at least it would feel like Marvel
- 27:29Speaker 3: new they had a good one, right and everyone even
- 27:31Speaker 3: and it's a double edged sword. It's like they're releasing
- 27:35Speaker 3: all episodes at once. So it's great because it's meant,
- 27:38Speaker 3: as we found out about Spotlight stuff, it's meant as
- 27:41Speaker 3: kind of like a limited one shot thing to kind
- 27:43Speaker 3: of see what happens.
- 27:45Speaker 2: But then also because people are used to how Marvel.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Moves, they're like, oh, they released all the episode at once,
- 27:50Speaker 3: and they don't really promote it's probably trash and that's
- 27:53Speaker 3: not the case here, but we are so been so
- 27:56Speaker 3: desensitized to the way that they do this shit, like
- 27:59Speaker 3: that's the first people think.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Like literally that was also in the commons. They was like, oh,
- 28:02Speaker 2: all the episodes once probably don't work.
- 28:04Speaker 3: I was just like, fuck, you know, And I don't
- 28:06Speaker 3: blame them for thinking that, yeah, because that's just how
- 28:09Speaker 3: the that's how the cycle has been in the pattern
- 28:11Speaker 3: has been.
- 28:11Speaker 1: And I really wonder why they're doing that with this
- 28:13Speaker 1: because again, a lot of them.
- 28:15Speaker 3: I just think because of the episodes are short, but
- 28:18Speaker 3: they're only thirty minutes long.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I mean, you could do it like a fast week.
- 28:21Speaker 1: You know, you don't have to do all eight at once.
- 28:23Speaker 3: You're right, because there were other shows that were only
- 28:26Speaker 3: thirty minutes long that they did a couple of week
- 28:28Speaker 3: or one a week or yeah, I even tripled up
- 28:31Speaker 3: at some points.
- 28:31Speaker 2: But yeah, right, I don't I don't know, but it doesn't.
- 28:36Speaker 2: It doesn't.
- 28:38Speaker 1: It's like in the January like, yeah, well I don't.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Well, people are back.
- 28:43Speaker 3: It's not like it's at the top of the year
- 28:44Speaker 3: where no, everyone's on vacation, right, people are coming back
- 28:47Speaker 3: into the fold. So this is I don't think the
- 28:49Speaker 3: timing is an issue. It's it's how it's throwing it
- 28:52Speaker 3: out behind it. Yeah, and again we live in New York.
- 28:56Speaker 3: I live in New York. And it's like when when
- 28:59Speaker 3: they on stuff like I use this to train every day.
- 29:01Speaker 3: When they on something, Marvel, Disney on something, they on it.
- 29:04Speaker 3: You see it everywhere. You know, I don't go to
- 29:06Speaker 3: Times Square, but you know, I know that ship is
- 29:08Speaker 3: there right like.
- 29:10Speaker 4: I've seen like the ads on the subway, et cetera
- 29:12Speaker 4: like that. But it's not to the insanity that when,
- 29:16Speaker 4: like you say, when they on it, they on it
- 29:19Speaker 4: when they really are.
- 29:19Speaker 3: And then again, like I said, maybe that is their
- 29:21Speaker 3: shad just how they treat tea.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Yeah, this is it's also how they one it's it
- 29:27Speaker 4: is been shown. It is kind of how they treat
- 29:29Speaker 4: TV black or white. You know, they do like like
- 29:32Speaker 4: they did more pumping for Hawkove, but that's Hawkeye, you know,
- 29:35Speaker 4: it's hawkatte who's like it's an Avenger, et cetera.
- 29:38Speaker 1: You know. But a lot of these TV shows they have,
- 29:40Speaker 1: you know.
- 29:41Speaker 4: I mean Agatha was you know, Agatha got a little
- 29:43Speaker 4: more loved maybe because Agatha came from.
- 29:45Speaker 2: The big because of the Internet.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Yes, because of Agatha all along everyone you know, you know,
- 29:51Speaker 3: it already had a following.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so that was you know, but a lot of
- 29:54Speaker 1: these things they just dump out there.
- 29:56Speaker 4: I mean even Born Again, which I thought was you know,
- 29:59Speaker 4: one of their biggest problem.
- 30:00Speaker 1: What do you think kind of just dumped out there.
- 30:01Speaker 1: I felt like this at least the first.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Season, well you know, the creative difference is like how
- 30:05Speaker 2: they try.
- 30:05Speaker 4: To Yeah, yeah, so it is what it is. But no,
- 30:09Speaker 4: I thought, wonder, man, was you know, very solid. I
- 30:13Speaker 4: do think that you know, it's not going to be
- 30:15Speaker 4: for everyone, because if you're looking for something that's leading
- 30:19Speaker 4: into doomsday, this ain't it. You know, if you're looking
- 30:23Speaker 4: for something that's you know, how to defend into the
- 30:26Speaker 4: bigger you know, will you become an avenger.
- 30:27Speaker 1: And all that.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I mean, if it's in the bigger picture, that it's
- 30:29Speaker 2: part of the MCU and.
- 30:31Speaker 3: It takes place in the current current timeline about it,
- 30:34Speaker 3: and like.
- 30:35Speaker 4: I mean, it's like up to speed, like we see
- 30:37Speaker 4: references to the latest things that have happened.
- 30:39Speaker 3: In like the Rogers musical. You see you see those
- 30:42Speaker 3: billboards all over. So like at least you know it's
- 30:44Speaker 3: modern Colt modern times and MCU.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Yeah so, but like I said, man, I thought this
- 30:50Speaker 4: was one of the more daring shows for them to do.
- 30:52Speaker 4: I thought it was one of the more interesting shows. Agree,
- 30:55Speaker 4: I've really enjoyed.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Ben and I mean yah ya and been.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Like just they're they're amazing. They're really truly amazing.
- 31:05Speaker 4: To there's certain stuff that we have not spoiled. This
- 31:08Speaker 4: one episode in particular, oh man, that we just both
- 31:11Speaker 4: thought was brilliant, And it's the whole show in general.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Like like I said, it's a very the inside, inside
- 31:19Speaker 4: access or behind the music of Hollywood that I really enjoyed.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And while I say it's not as incisive.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Or as dark obviously it's something like Berry, it still
- 31:31Speaker 4: really gets it.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Really gets it. It has a level, it's still level levity.
- 31:35Speaker 2: In it, Yeah, but also dark.
- 31:37Speaker 3: It's like kind of dark comedy to a bit. But
- 31:39Speaker 3: what like episode four or five is right in the
- 31:41Speaker 3: middle of the season.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Yeah, just here of brilliance on that one. But like
- 31:45Speaker 4: just there's for people who have you know, been in Hollywood,
- 31:47Speaker 4: worked in Hollywood. There's shouts to like Mendocino farms, and
- 31:51Speaker 4: they make a Mendocino Farms joke where I was falling
- 31:54Speaker 4: out of my seat because it's just such a thing
- 31:57Speaker 4: if you've ever been I mean probably if you've been
- 31:59Speaker 4: in LA but I know when I was in that
- 32:02Speaker 4: writer's room, Man, we ate.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Way too much of that stuff.
- 32:05Speaker 4: So all those little things I loved, I definitely give it,
- 32:10Speaker 4: you know, B plus yeah, I'd say product yeah plus yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 3: And you know, even though it's not straight super focused
- 32:18Speaker 3: or you know, the super character version of these people focused,
- 32:22Speaker 3: it still utilizes them well when they do see it.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Again, Remember Trevor Slattery played the fake.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Mandarin, so that comes into play right like that, Like, no,
- 32:34Speaker 3: that's not who you see and that's not who you
- 32:36Speaker 3: get in most of the episodes, but that is that
- 32:39Speaker 3: it holds bearing on how he interacts with people, how
- 32:43Speaker 3: people interact with him, and so on so and what
- 32:46Speaker 3: people think about him. And that's what one of the
- 32:48Speaker 3: last things I'm going to say about why I really
- 32:50Speaker 3: like this show and why it works so well is
- 32:53Speaker 3: something I had many years ago about Marvel movies where
- 32:56Speaker 3: I was just like, so, what happened so like that
- 32:59Speaker 3: little kid you ran over or what happened to their life?
- 33:01Speaker 3: And what happened like the consequences thereof of all these actions. Right, well,
- 33:05Speaker 3: y'all knock down that fucking building a big up fanels, Okay,
- 33:09Speaker 3: but what about the kid that you just orphaned?
- 33:10Speaker 2: What happened to that?
- 33:11Speaker 1: Right?
- 33:11Speaker 3: Like this, this gives at least on a character level,
- 33:16Speaker 3: the consequences of their decisions. Right, Like, you decided you
- 33:20Speaker 3: wanted to play a terrorist, and this is what happens.
- 33:22Speaker 2: When you play.
- 33:23Speaker 3: You want to play, you know, you don't want to
- 33:25Speaker 3: do something safe. This is what happens, you know, this
- 33:26Speaker 3: is what you get. So I liked seeing that, Like
- 33:29Speaker 3: it was realistic in that way, as they say, it
- 33:32Speaker 3: was street level in that way.
- 33:34Speaker 1: And speaking of street level, one of the great quotes
- 33:36Speaker 1: from the wire you wanted to be in the game.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Right now you're in the game. Yeah, so that's Trevor,
- 33:47Speaker 1: like a terrorist. Now you're a terrorist.
- 33:52Speaker 2: What would you what would you rate? What would you
- 33:54Speaker 2: rate wonder Man?
- 33:55Speaker 4: Yeah, like I said, I'll give it definitely B plus,
- 33:58Speaker 4: very solid.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Why not okay?
- 34:01Speaker 1: One out of ten? I'd say about an eight, you.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Know, Okay, it's like why not an A or ten?
- 34:08Speaker 4: Now saying A because it does what it wants to do,
- 34:11Speaker 4: I mean, what it set out to do, but what
- 34:13Speaker 4: it set out to do, it is an A And
- 34:15Speaker 4: something that I will say, even though it is a
- 34:18Speaker 4: radical reimagining of the wonder Man character, it is true
- 34:22Speaker 4: to the essence of what wonder Man is all about
- 34:25Speaker 4: and that, to me, I think is what matters when
- 34:28Speaker 4: you're doing an interpretation.
- 34:30Speaker 1: And for those fans of Wonder Man.
- 34:33Speaker 4: You do get to see all of his gloriously horrible,
- 34:37Speaker 4: ugly costumes at one point or another during this series,
- 34:40Speaker 4: and they're all there in full shine. They're all as
- 34:44Speaker 4: horrible as you remember. And look, I'm a dude who
- 34:46Speaker 4: grew up on Wonder Man. I love the red Safari jacket,
- 34:49Speaker 4: but my man's fashion choices were abysmal.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I give it an A.
- 34:56Speaker 3: And I didn't want to change your your grade if
- 34:57Speaker 3: that's really how you felt when you said be at first.
- 34:59Speaker 4: But yeah, know, but like I said, because I think
- 35:02Speaker 4: I'm greaty to be on like trying to because you
- 35:04Speaker 4: know how to defend in the Marvel and that's not
- 35:06Speaker 4: fair to it, I think.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Oh okay.
- 35:08Speaker 3: So as far as how does it fit into like
- 35:10Speaker 3: that Marvel formula, it doesn't.
- 35:13Speaker 1: No.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Yeah, And for what it is and what it's trying
- 35:15Speaker 4: to be a show about a superpowered person trying to
- 35:19Speaker 4: make it as an after in Hollywood and dealing with
- 35:22Speaker 4: some of the ramifications of previous things that have happened
- 35:25Speaker 4: in MCU, it's definitely an a.
- 35:27Speaker 1: It does all that perfectly.
- 35:28Speaker 3: It's absolutely and it actually does what a lot of
- 35:31Speaker 3: us have been asking for, which is do something different.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Stop bringing me the old characters and this and that.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Like it's actually doing it now. I hope that people
- 35:39Speaker 3: watch it. And as mentioned admittedly, I was one of
- 35:42Speaker 3: the ones that was just like, I don't know about this,
- 35:43Speaker 3: but I was wrong, Like.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Y'all have to watch this. This was incredible.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:49Speaker 4: No, I definitely give it an a for what it.
- 35:51Speaker 4: You know, set out and tried to do it, does
- 35:54Speaker 4: it and does it very well to me? Yeah, like
- 35:56Speaker 4: I say to Ben and yah ya, just absolutely amazing.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I thought the man. I mean, I loved demandering, I
- 36:03Speaker 1: loved the Mandarin flip.
- 36:04Speaker 4: As I've said many a time, Iron Man three is
- 36:06Speaker 4: one of my favorite MCU movies of all time. I
- 36:09Speaker 4: feel I'm constantly being redeemed and rewarded the longer time
- 36:14Speaker 4: goes on, because people are seeing the greatness of because they're.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Getting they're making money.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I mean when I say making money, I just mean
- 36:22Speaker 3: like they actually coming up better than I thought they
- 36:25Speaker 3: was with all the stuff that I ain't like about it,
- 36:28Speaker 3: It's like now they're utilizing it to the full tics.
- 36:30Speaker 4: And I see I loved all that from the jump
- 36:32Speaker 4: because when he busting on demandering and he was in
- 36:35Speaker 4: the bathroom and he had the shorties in the bed,
- 36:37Speaker 4: I was in the theater like rolling, and I could
- 36:41Speaker 4: feel the theater around me grown, you know, as they
- 36:44Speaker 4: realized that they weren't going to get the Mandarin and.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I'm sitting there like, yes, yes, yes, this is so greatious.
- 36:51Speaker 4: I remember when we were in Eternals and the thing
- 36:54Speaker 4: cut off before the oh yeah, we got to see
- 36:58Speaker 4: an early screening of Eternals and the film ended before
- 37:03Speaker 4: the end credit sequence. And because Eternal was a long
- 37:06Speaker 4: ass movie and a lot of people in the theater
- 37:08Speaker 4: were just there for the in credit sequence.
- 37:10Speaker 1: The whole theater because we were.
- 37:12Speaker 4: There with media, et cetera, and they was erupted in
- 37:16Speaker 4: groans and screams.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Me.
- 37:19Speaker 4: I was hot in my mind on mushrooms and I
- 37:21Speaker 4: thought it was the funniest thing in the world.
- 37:23Speaker 1: So I started rolling laughing.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, So wonder Man on Disney Plus highly
- 37:32Speaker 3: recommended again, Ben, do we know when.
- 37:35Speaker 2: It comes out?
