Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Come on, Randy, welcome to
- 0:13What's Your Least Favorite Scary Movie?
- 0:15The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and
- 0:19the absurd and all of our favorite.
- 0:20And least. Favorite scary movies?
- 0:22Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has this fan
- 0:25base. If we don't always get it.
- 0:27My name is Travis. My name is Jesse, and today we
- 0:30are talking Paranormal Activity Three.
- 0:33Yeah. Back to the paranormal activity.
- 0:35And we can thank all of our bubbies over at the Patreon.
- 0:39Yes, for this. This was their vote this month.
- 0:41Our budget's here and bug Ted bug.
- 0:44Ted, Yeah, bug Ted can also do. That too, yeah.
- 0:47So thank you guys so. Thank you guys for choosing
- 0:49this. We have taken far too long a
- 0:51break from paranormal activity. Been about a year.
- 0:54With me, yeah, yeah. It's been a while.
- 0:56So it was nice to get back to it.
- 0:58Actually, over a year, yeah. Yes, I forgot you were gonna do
- 1:01that for the intro. I thought you were gonna do
- 1:03Bloody Mary, but then I realized if we were gonna do that, you
- 1:06would have asked me to join. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09So, yeah, come on, Randy, come. On Randy, the more guttural, the
- 1:15more I do it in a single sitting.
- 1:17You'll have to remind me of the context of that because I forgot
- 1:20it. Is when they're doing bloody
- 1:21Mary and it starts shaking and Katie is scared and he's like no
- 1:27it's okay it's okay and he's. Trying to like, he's like, come
- 1:29on already. I love that scene.
- 1:32He's like Oh my God, fuck, fuck, fuck.
- 1:34Totally cool. Yeah, like.
- 1:37Everything's fine, Sage. Whispering to himself and he's
- 1:40not realizing that Katie can. Actually hear she's like, right
- 1:43there, locked in the bathroom. This is what you have to look
- 1:45forward to, Yeah, on this episode.
- 1:47So thank you guys for being here.
- 1:49Yeah, we get Toby back. Yeah, Toby, Toby, Toby.
- 1:53So Speaking of Toby, we got Toby.
- 1:57Or not. Toby this.
- 1:58Weekend. Nice, good job.
- 2:00Spelled almost the same because this Toby Demon Toby is TOBI
- 2:05according to the wiki. The captions in there had the Y
- 2:09all right. If it's with an I, then that's
- 2:13how I'll draw Toby in the cover art.
- 2:17That's. I'm just saying I.
- 2:19Give him a little name on his thing.
- 2:21He's just got it on his tummy. So I was pitching like a hi, I'm
- 2:25Toby. No, I've always just kind of put
- 2:27it on his tummy. I made my own little Toby
- 2:29character design for Paranormal Activity 2 when we did that
- 2:32episode, so I'm keeping that consistent well.
- 2:35Then keep the Y consistent then. I think I might have done it
- 2:38with an I back then though, so I don't remember.
- 2:40I don't, I don't remember. Yeah, we'll figure it out.
- 2:43So that's we've got all the fun, none of the facts anyway.
- 2:47Yeah. Just be looking out for to be or
- 2:49not to be this Sunday. That is our monthly bonus
- 2:52episode. It is live and unedited.
- 2:54So if you think we're a hot mess right now, just you wait till
- 2:56then. Yeah.
- 2:59OK, Travis, yes. Poll results, Poll results, All
- 3:02right. And I appreciate those of you
- 3:04who followed the instructions. Yeah, because our whole plan
- 3:09with this poll was for everybody to send us pictures of their
- 3:12dogs. And some of you did.
- 3:14So the poll was can dogs look up and parentheses send proof.
- 3:19So you have to. You should be sending proof with
- 3:22these. Yeah.
- 3:23So thank you to the ones that did.
- 3:25Let's see, should we shout them out individually?
- 3:28We only had two dog pics we had Ty and Tucker.
- 3:31You guys are the ones that sent you like little dog pictures and
- 3:35they were so. Adorable, yes.
- 3:37Tucker's dog got a treat out of its ordeal, like it's licking
- 3:41his lips in the picture. Good for him.
- 3:43Yeah, so is. It him or her I.
- 3:46Don't know. No.
- 3:47Him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:52She she you're a liar. Well, I see he's talking about
- 3:56Ed also from the movie here, so I'm confused.
- 3:59Okay, she wins, good for her. Okay, anyways, the results, yes.
- 4:04So on Instagram 100% say yes. Stocks can look up and over on
- 4:08Twitter, 67% say yes and 33% say no.
- 4:12And I think Joe was one of the no's there because he says big,
- 4:16big Allen knows what he's talking about and that that's
- 4:19not proof enough. Joe, I'm sorry.
- 4:21Yeah, we. We need a dog.
- 4:22Pictures, Joe. Come on, you're supposed to be
- 4:25freedom of Tron. He's back to Freakatron, I
- 4:27think. OK, where the?
- 4:29Season of freedom is over. Yes, freedom is dead.
- 4:35OK, so that was our poll results.
- 4:36Obviously we believe that they can look up because we have our
- 4:40own dog picture that we will share.
- 4:42And should be posted hopefully by the time this episode comes
- 4:45out, unless we get very distracted.
- 4:47And then we'll do a while. Nick Cage this weekend.
- 4:49Yeah. So we, yeah, we have a little
- 4:52picture of Talia looking up. So we.
- 4:54Got a statue of a dog? A dog that's also looking up.
- 4:59Double confirmation. Yes, Yes.
- 5:02All right. So that's it for that.
- 5:03So, ready for paranormal activity?
- 5:06Ready, ready, ready. All right, let's do it.
- 5:08OK Paranormal Activity released October 21st 2011.
- 5:12We watched it on our DVD. Yep, cuz we have that.
- 5:15Shit got all of them except for the paramount marked.
- 5:19One no next of kin next. We had this conversation last
- 5:22night. I just I forget which one's the
- 5:24last one. Yep, I bought this six pack at
- 5:26Walmart while I was getting my oil changed.
- 5:29Get more. 6 packs are always when you have the entire
- 5:31franchise on it. Single DVD pack I'm all about.
- 5:34It Yes, absolutely. OK.
- 5:36Available in the US as of July 13th on Mac's YouTube Premium,
- 5:41YouTube TV Primetime, Hulu Premium and Prime Premium.
- 5:45Or you can rent it from Google Play or Fandango at home.
- 5:48Formerly Voodoo, Yes. Written by Christopher Landon,
- 5:52Yeah. Christopher Landon back.
- 5:54Back on the show so soon. Welcome back.
- 5:56Glad to have you here. Directed by Henry Juiced and
- 6:00Ariel Shulman Travis. Do those names sound familiar
- 6:03to? You Shulman does, but juiced not
- 6:08so much. So I did not look up any of
- 6:10their other filmography. It's just when I was looking at
- 6:12some of the background for the movie.
- 6:14They also directed the documentary Catfish, not the MTV
- 6:19show that came. Original original documentary.
- 6:22Oh, that's them. Yeah.
- 6:24So they were like, hey, you guys do real shit.
- 6:27Like, can you come over here and do like a pretend real movie?
- 6:30I guess so. I guess so that's gotta be.
- 6:32I I didn't look up anything beyond that.
- 6:34It just in parentheses, said directors of Catfish
- 6:37documentary. And I was like, oh shit, I
- 6:39remember when that came out. That was huge.
- 6:41Yeah, it was. I was enthralled by it because I
- 6:44wanted to know. I was like, obviously something
- 6:47bad's going to happen, but I want to watch it play out.
- 6:50I never watched it, I always felt weird to do a whole show
- 6:53based off of it. But I've never watched the show
- 6:56because the show goes. And I mean, here's the whole
- 7:00thing with, like, we've talked about this before with, like,
- 7:03true crime, how it's kind of exploitative and can be icky
- 7:08depending on how it's done. That's how the show is.
- 7:10That's how I feel about the show.
- 7:12Like, it's like, it's very Jerry Springer esque, but like, yeah,
- 7:16not in front of the live TV audience.
- 7:18No audience. We're not covering this for the
- 7:21show, but I'm sorry for talking about it.
- 7:23But it was very much like a real, like it was a new thing at
- 7:26the time. So yeah, compelling movie at
- 7:28that time, but then when the fucking shows go on like in the
- 7:3120 tens, it was just some of its.
- 7:33Yeah, a little bit, yeah. Don't have a composer cuz
- 7:38there's not really music in this movie, which I always forget
- 7:42until I go to get this background information.
- 7:46It's. Gonna be nice and not have to
- 7:47worry about that. Surprisingly, we do have the
- 7:50special effects makeup company credited.
- 7:53Really. Oh well, there's some shit that
- 7:55goes. Down.
- 7:55Yeah, I guess there is a little bit of shit.
- 7:58So we've got almost human ink. Almost human ink.
- 8:01That sounds like we've talked about them before too.
- 8:03That sounds familiar. Does sound vaguely familiar?
- 8:06So whenever they did one of the other paranormal activities
- 8:08maybe? Maybe starring Chloe Chandri as
- 8:13Katie, Jessica Tyler Brown as Christy Christopher, Nicholas
- 8:17Smith as Dennis, Lauren Bittner as Julie, Hallie Foote as
- 8:21Grandma Lois, and Dustin Ingram as Randy Rosen Travis, time for
- 8:27our favorite game budget or? Bug.
- 8:30Ted. These are cheap as hell, so it's
- 8:33bug Ted. Do you want to guess?
- 8:35Because it's kind of a known quantity.
- 8:38They're Blum House. They made Blum House, Blum
- 8:41House. They really did.
- 8:42This is the bum house is built on the backbone of this
- 8:45franchise. Blum House is.
- 8:47Built on a camcorder, yeah. For sure.
- 8:51That's how they were like, oh fuck we just repeat.
- 8:54I'm gonna say they at least still invested some money into
- 8:57this to make it a decent movie. So I'd say like maybe 3 million.
- 9:035 million. $5 million. 5 million.
- 9:06Holy hell, I wonder what? They had to pay per earthquake.
- 9:09Earthquake per lamp swing. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:13Opening box office of 52.5 million.
- 9:17Opening. For the weekend, opening weekend
- 9:19holy. Shit.
- 9:20Worldwide gross of 207 million. God damn.
- 9:26And guess what? Yeah, I even have home sales
- 9:30figures. Really.
- 9:31Yes. What?
- 9:333.6 million. Shit man, that's pretty damn
- 9:37good. Yeah, I saw that figure pop up
- 9:39and I was like, Travis is going to be so excited.
- 9:41I. I love me some physical media
- 9:43stuff, so that's crazy now. You're sure the bad news?
- 9:47OK, it's got a 5.8 on IMDb. That's surprising because I know
- 9:53this is a lot of people's favorites.
- 9:55Yeah. So does that mean that the
- 9:56others are rated lower? I don't know.
- 10:01I don't. Know yeah, OK.
- 10:04I'm very excited about my theme for three other 2011 horror
- 10:09movies. You hype the sub so I'm curious
- 10:10to know what it is. My theme is you should probably
- 10:13break up. Wait a minute, they don't.
- 10:18This guy is in nowhere near the same realm as Mika.
- 10:22OK, He's actually like a decent dude.
- 10:25No, I mean at the end when Grandma Lois is trying to use
- 10:28him for a ritual and Toby's trying to get him killed off and
- 10:32all of that, he should break up for his own good.
- 10:35Yeah, I guess you're right. Yeah.
- 10:37OK, OK, sure. That's good though.
- 10:39There's a lot less girl boss gatekeep Gaslight in this movie
- 10:44than there is another movie. Yeah, they're paranormal.
- 10:46There's more Julie doing a little bit of it, but she has
- 10:48like legitimate reason to be. It's a.
- 10:50Little at the beginning, it's mostly just them gaslighting
- 10:54their children. That's true.
- 10:56Yeah. They're like, oh, Toby's not
- 10:57real, Chrissy. Shut the fuck up about Toby.
- 11:00OK, so my first movie is your next.
- 11:04Perfect. Which premiered at the Fantastic
- 11:06Fest on September 24th, 2011 that had a budget of $1 million
- 11:13in a worldwide gross of 26.8 million and brought Barbara
- 11:16Crampton back to all of our hearts and.
- 11:18Mouths yes, she's the only one that shouldn't break up with her
- 11:21spouse and her partner and that one everybody else doesn't need
- 11:24each other in their lives. That has a 6.6 out of 10 on IMDb
- 11:29and you guys, I swear we're going to cover this on the show
- 11:31someday. It all the time.
- 11:33We it's one of those that we keep thinking we've already
- 11:37covered it and then we remember we haven't.
- 11:40It's probably going to be a November movie since it's so
- 11:42Thanksgiving is. Yeah.
- 11:44And I take it back what I said because Ty West and his
- 11:47girlfriend in that movie are good partners, too.
- 11:50So they're fun. Yeah.
- 11:51She's. Very supportive.
- 11:52She's like, well, he's artistic, but he's got to direct some
- 11:55commercials to. Trust me, I'm gonna make up a
- 11:58I'm gonna make a fucked up horror movie and then yeah,
- 12:01period piece and then a Java. Yeah, that's gonna be fun.
- 12:05It's gonna be fun and divisive. Yeah.
- 12:09OK, OK. Second movie.
- 12:11Another movie that we are also gonna cover on the show at some
- 12:14point sooner than later. Really Hostile Part 3.
- 12:19Man, yeah, you're right. They should break up.
- 12:22Yeah. Because he's in a relationship
- 12:25with his fiance that cheated on him or something, right?
- 12:30She cheated on him. Yeah, there's just.
- 12:32And then they cheat on her or they there's a lot of like
- 12:35cheating adultery going on in this.
- 12:37The one, the one friend is trying to get with the fiance
- 12:43and it's kind of ambiguous and there's cheating stuff in the
- 12:46past, which is why it's partially ambiguous.
- 12:50And then there's also a lot of people that are very shitty to
- 12:52the guy with a cane. That.
- 12:55Has nothing to do with needing to break.
- 12:56He needs to break up with his friend group.
- 12:58Wait, just really? You know what?
- 13:00I know that The Hangover inspired them going to LA or not
- 13:04LA Las Vegas in that movie, but I'm thinking of what?
- 13:09The Hangover? Yeah.
- 13:10Because Ed Helm's wife cheated on him, I think.
- 13:14Yeah, no. So I was thinking at the end
- 13:17because like I said the one best friend was really into the
- 13:20fiance and he did the whole thing to kill him off so that
- 13:27way he could be with the fiance. And it's been a minute since we
- 13:30watched it so I don't know if I'm remembering correctly.
- 13:32I do think that maybe there was like some cheating issues in the
- 13:35past mentioned so I'm not 100% sure about that.
- 13:38Well the but either way at the end they need to break up
- 13:42because I guess what the fiance is not really dead.
- 13:45That's true though, yeah. Yeah.
- 13:46OK, good call. My third movie, yes.
- 13:49Oh, I didn't tell you any of the statistics.
- 13:51About how we just talked. About it December 27th, 2011.
- 13:55That shit went straight to DVD. Did you say anything about your
- 13:59next? Yeah, OK.
- 14:01He went straight to DVD, so I don't have a budget or a
- 14:03worldwide gross. Yeah, but it's low.
- 14:06Yeah. I make up a majority.
- 14:09I'm a majority shareholder. I bought some Part 3.
- 14:12This is true. It has an IMP score of 4.6 out
- 14:16of 10, which I was pleasantly surprised, Yeah.
- 14:19You know me too. Honestly, I thought it would be
- 14:22lower. It has this audience.
- 14:24I think some people like it. I need to give another. 50% of
- 14:27this podcast is very affirmatively its audience.
- 14:32I always think, and I'm always wrong because it's a different
- 14:34movie, that it's the kid from Sandlot that's in that, but it's
- 14:38that's dark ride that he's that has a Sandlot kid I.
- 14:41Don't remember. OK.
- 14:43I don't remember which Sandlot kid.
- 14:44OK, just. Trust her.
- 14:45The catcher. The chubby, freckled kid.
- 14:47Speaking of The Sandlot, Wendy Peppercorn herself, Marley
- 14:50Shelton, is going to be at Scarefest that was just
- 14:52announced this weekend. Fuck yeah.
- 14:54And it ties in to my third film from 2011.
- 14:56Screen 4. So who's?
- 15:00Oh. Cuz Charlie thinks that he's
- 15:02dating Jill secretly and then she's step step step half step.
- 15:07Yeah. So Charlie needs to break up
- 15:09with Jill. And this is Mary Shelton
- 15:12telling. Dewey, Marley, Shelton.
- 15:14Marley Marley Shelton telling Dewey you should break up with
- 15:17GAIL and get my lemon. Squares.
- 15:19Eat my lemon squares and be daddy to little tiny wallows,
- 15:23yeah? He won't have to start a band if
- 15:25he has you in his life. Wallows won't have to be.
- 15:30So that released April 15th, 2011.
- 15:34It had a budget of 40 million because Scream brings in the
- 15:37money. Sure does.
- 15:39It made a worldwide gross of 97,000,000 Nice and it has an
- 15:43IMDb score of 6.2 out of 10. Good that that's a good one.
- 15:49So there's only two tag lines. OK.
- 15:53Which I feel like we ran into this with Freaky as well, like
- 15:55Christopher Landon's, like, I'm going to say I'm a piece.
- 15:58This is what it is. Yeah, probably.
- 16:01OK, first one, discover how the activity began.
- 16:07It makes sense, but it also kind of sounds a little bit
- 16:11suggestive of like foreplay. Maybe he's talking about the sex
- 16:16tape. We've got to have have
- 16:19discussion about that too. Yeah.
- 16:22And then the second one, it runs in the family.
- 16:25I like that. One that's really good.
- 16:28That's not the poster one. They're both on the poster.
- 16:31OK, they're they're both on the poster, but they're far enough
- 16:34away and they don't sound connected.
- 16:36Yeah. So I put them as separate ones.
- 16:38OK, that's fair. OK, I've got a few fun facts.
- 16:41Not a ton, just a smidgen. A sprinkle, if you will.
- 16:45I can do with that. So this movie actually set a new
- 16:49record for a midnight opening for horror at the time, $8
- 16:53million for its midnight opening.
- 16:56Holy. Shit, 8,000,000 for just one
- 16:58night. Yep, and it had the highest
- 17:02single day opening of for horror at the time in the US at 26.2
- 17:07million. Shit.
- 17:09And it was the second best opening day for 2011, beat only
- 17:18by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
- 17:22Damn that's crazy that I gave it like a run.
- 17:25For it's money. So 2011 Harry Potter Paranormal
- 17:29Activity. What a weird fucking year, you
- 17:31all. That's crazy, man.
- 17:33That's some like, that's the magic you get when you get like
- 17:36a straight up horror franchise, like rolling.
- 17:39You know, we don't have one of those going right now.
- 17:41And this one doesn't, as far as I know, have a legacy tinged by
- 17:46transphobia from its creator. Which one are you talking about?
- 17:50Harry Potter. Oh.
- 17:51Yeah, sorry, I thought you were talking about like another
- 17:53horror movie. It's like the the post I saw
- 17:56online that says Harry Potter belongs to us, the fans now.
- 18:00People claim that shit, man. Yeah, yeah.
- 18:02We do not give it to She who shall not be named.
- 18:05You can't. Take away like she's already a
- 18:08billionaire, so whatever man, you know you can't take that
- 18:10away. So just take the property and
- 18:12just make it your own. Yeah, me calling her out for
- 18:14being a shitty turf isn't going to make her any less of a
- 18:16billionaire. Yeah, you're not going to her
- 18:19financially by protesting this series.
- 18:21Yeah, just to encourage. Just embrace it.
- 18:24Yeah, I'm gonna be like, hey, Harry Potter meant a lot to me
- 18:26as a child, but I also fucked JK Rowling and her shitty, bigoted
- 18:30opinions. Yeah, I mean, if you feel more
- 18:33comfortable just straight up protesting, that's cool too
- 18:35though, OK. Let's see, where am I at?
- 18:38So that yeah, this is a record-breaking movie.
- 18:40There's a reason that this, this is the franchise that Bill Blum
- 18:44House, you know? I mean, I remember the hype from
- 18:46that. I remember when this came out I
- 18:48was insane. So principal photography took
- 18:50place from June 6th, 2011 to August 5th, 2011.
- 18:54And if you were hearing that correctly and wondering if I
- 18:58wrote this down correctly, I did.
- 19:01I triple checked myself. It did, in fact, finish filming
- 19:06less than 2 1/2 months before its premiere.
- 19:09That's not too uncommon, but especially something like this,
- 19:12I don't think it requires too much.
- 19:15Probably not, I just am very stressed at the timeline.
- 19:18Yeah, that, I mean that's probably pretty stressful to
- 19:22work on. So I wrote this down because I
- 19:25thought it was interesting but there was no citation for it so
- 19:27who knows if it's true or not but I just thought it was fun.
- 19:30I love it when an article tells me what a film was filmed under,
- 19:35like its name. Yeah, this the whatever the
- 19:39temporary title. Yeah, and this one makes no
- 19:41fucking sense, which is why I wrote it down even though it's
- 19:44not confirmed. OK.
- 19:46Sports camp. No, that's genius because that's
- 19:50the whole point is to throw people off.
- 19:52That way they don't go investigating and it doesn't
- 19:54leak out. I feel like usually it at least
- 19:57kind of makes sense in hindsight that this not at all.
- 20:00No, when you're doing a fucking paranormal activity in the
- 20:03height of its popularity, you need to keep that under wraps.
- 20:06Maybe, maybe they do the same thing in their heads as us,
- 20:11where instead of Kobe they say Toby also.
- 20:14Yeah, Toby. Kobe Sports.
- 20:19Make that connection, connect the Dutch people, people say.
- 20:24So they had a couple more of their viral marketing campaigns,
- 20:28as is their want to do. Yes.
- 20:30One of them I couldn't find much information on.
- 20:32I don't know. It was an app called Paranormal
- 20:34Activity 3 Demon Summoner. It's not very easy to look up
- 20:38because when you look that up you just get a lot of articles
- 20:41on Toby, which is how I learned that.
- 20:43Really. Are there actual things online
- 20:45where you like? Here's how you summon Toby.
- 20:47Can you? Can we actually get a Toby?
- 20:49No, No. It's more of felt like the demon
- 20:53history. Of oh, I thought it was like, it
- 20:55was like, go get your own Toby, folks.
- 20:57No, and I would have read up more on this, but it's just a
- 21:02little history on our personal lives.
- 21:05It's been wild and super busy and you have to make time where
- 21:10you can. And I was getting all of this
- 21:12information in the car and I get car sick real badly so I
- 21:18couldn't read much more than what I did.
- 21:20That's, yeah, that's fine. Yeah.
- 21:22And then finally they did a Tweet Your Scream campaign.
- 21:26Tweet your scream. Yes, which you could enter.
- 21:29They had like a pool of cities where they could do an early
- 21:32premiere of the movie on October 18th and the top 20 to get their
- 21:38city retweeted. We're going to get that early
- 21:41premiere. That's cool.
- 21:42And I know one of them was Melbourne, so it was like
- 21:45international. Damn.
- 21:46Yeah. Man I like the 1 from 2.
- 21:50Demand it. Demand it.
- 21:53Waiting on Satan? Yep.
- 21:55Or Satan. Satan's done waiting.
- 21:57Satan's done waiting. That's Hellraiser, yeah.
- 22:01OK, Yeah, that's it for my fun facts.
- 22:03Which means it's time for the good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 22:08Travis, please kick us off. OK, I like that I am merging
- 22:13these words together. I can't wait to see what the
- 22:16bizarre chapter titles we get are.
- 22:19OK, so good. I I think that origin stories
- 22:26can go badly, so more often than nuts, but I think that they did
- 22:33a good job pulling off the origin story.
- 22:35I like how they tied it back to Katie, but it wasn't about
- 22:40Katie. Like she's just kind of like a
- 22:43unfortunate victim of Chrissy having this relationship with
- 22:48Toby. And I do love also because it
- 22:50ties back to when all of this is first happening.
- 22:54And I want to say it's, is it in the second one or in the first
- 22:59one, But where Katie and Christy are talking and Katie is like
- 23:03there was a period of time where you just didn't talk to anyone.
- 23:06Yeah. I like that we're seeing that.
- 23:09Yeah, it's cool. Like, you know, it was this was
- 23:11kind of interesting to explore to see because you knew that
- 23:15there was a history from the past movie.
- 23:17So, you know, we get like some more Toby and Toby is kind of
- 23:21fun to watch, you know, be able to scamp and just like do some
- 23:25shit around the house. I think that this movie has
- 23:28probably, I wouldn't say the best screen scary moments in the
- 23:33series because I think that probably still belongs to the
- 23:35first one. Because the first one, I
- 23:38remember that one where, like, she sleepwalks outside.
- 23:40Yeah. And then he's out there trying
- 23:42to wake her up. And then everything, like, all
- 23:44of the lights in the house turn on or something.
- 23:46And then he goes up to his room and like the TV static.
- 23:48She's blaring. That's fucking scary, yes, but
- 23:51this movie had the moment with the little ghost sheet and that
- 23:56fucking this freaky as hell. That what always gets me is
- 24:00Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary's so scary too.
- 24:03Oh. My God, Candyman.
- 24:05Yes. I'm pretty sure I've talked
- 24:06about this on the show before, but the first time I saw
- 24:09Candyman I couldn't be in a bathroom with the lights off.
- 24:15I still can't be in a bathroom with the lights off.
- 24:16No, actually. Did you ever do it though?
- 24:18Did you ever play the game? I think we did it.
- 24:22I think my older sister and me, I did it one time after watching
- 24:26the movie Candyman. Oh yeah and I think I was
- 24:32paranoid for like a month cuz I was like, he is playing the long
- 24:37game. He's gonna wait until I finally
- 24:40let my guard down. Tony Todd, he he doesn't like to
- 24:44just bang him out. Now I.
- 24:48He's probably still litigating his B claws.
- 24:51Yeah, I did Candy, man. I also did Bloody Mary as a kid
- 24:56too. And that like that's such a
- 24:58relatable thing that they did in this movie because like
- 25:00everybody did that. Especially like around that
- 25:02time. I don't know if it's a thing
- 25:03anymore. When?
- 25:04You have like the non typical babysitter with you.
- 25:07Like, yeah, Randy. And he, yeah, he's babysitter,
- 25:10but he's also your quasi stepdad's friend and the goofy
- 25:15guy that is just sometimes in your house.
- 25:17Just Randy. Yeah, he's just Randy.
- 25:19So that felt so real to me. Well, not only that, but that's
- 25:24such a great setup to have Toby actually enter and do some shit.
- 25:29Like it actually makes Bloody Mary real, yes.
- 25:32And like that's just so fucking scary.
- 25:36And to be fair though, that did piss me off back when this
- 25:41released. And the only reason they pissed
- 25:43me off is because I remember the trailers.
- 25:46They the thing about paranormal activities, they did fake
- 25:49trailers all the time. Spoiler for when I do the
- 25:52reviews later but that was so many people were pissed that
- 25:56the. Trailer because it's so
- 25:57different than there was this one scene and it was a Bloody
- 26:00Mary scene that I was so excited to see play out because they do
- 26:04Bloody Mary and it's it's Christy and Katie and they're
- 26:09doing it together and they do Bloody Mary.
- 26:11And then there's actually like something appears in there's
- 26:13like a shadowy fit. I figure in the bathroom.
- 26:16It's in like the black and white camera too.
- 26:19And we don't get that in the movie.
- 26:20And then like you like go into that movie expecting that and
- 26:23then don't see it. No, it pisses you off.
- 26:26So that's part of my bad. But we're still talking about
- 26:28good here. But yeah, like it's a good
- 26:32movie. They did a good job delivering
- 26:33the scares and good origin story.
- 26:36I do like how the origin story, it makes sense from what we
- 26:40heard from the first two movies I love and I try to treat movies
- 26:45as their own thing. But with a franchise, it is also
- 26:48kind of hard not to look at other movies in the franchise.
- 26:52And I think in this one, it's actually in its favor because
- 26:55that first movie was just very much like a here's kind of what
- 27:01happens, do your thing because. And they just, they made this
- 27:07movie happen, you know, and then it became such a big thing.
- 27:11They do the 2nd movie, they tie it so well into the first one,
- 27:14which we knew it was going to happen because we knew the dates
- 27:17and everything, but still like seeing how it ended.
- 27:19Oh man, we get the resolution of Katie.
- 27:22'S yeah, she just shows up at the house after the fact.
- 27:24That's where she went to after killing.
- 27:27Everybody, we, we'd gotten more information along the way.
- 27:31And then to see this origin story of like how it actually
- 27:34played out. And it's funny because we call
- 27:37it an origin story. And we do see a little bit of
- 27:40the ritual, which by the way, there was a Reddit post that
- 27:43said hereditary is just a knock off of Paranormal Activity 3.
- 27:48And it's not wrong. Interesting.
- 27:52I could see it, yeah. But we have this origin story,
- 27:56but we don't actually really see the deal with the devil that
- 27:58goes down, you know? So I think that's kind of fun.
- 28:02Also, I think that the little kids, I didn't get much
- 28:06information with Christopher Landon.
- 28:08I feel like he probably wrote out more stuff with the script,
- 28:11but I think the way that the little kids talk talk to each
- 28:16other makes sense for children and especially sisters that
- 28:20close in age. And I like that they still seem
- 28:23very different and their personalities still match how
- 28:26they seem when they're older. And I especially like something
- 28:32about Christy just like really stands out to me.
- 28:35Just the she's got, she reminds me of my older sister's
- 28:40daughter. Like they're very kind of
- 28:42crying. Yep.
- 28:43Yeah. Like that is a very like that is
- 28:47a type of child that age, you know, and it just it feels very
- 28:51authentic, which though she is actually a small child.
- 28:54Yeah, no. But you.
- 28:55Know acting. It's a whole other thing, yeah.
- 28:58Yes, and it and it is not easy for children actors to like
- 29:03you're going to come in and you're going to act, but you
- 29:05also need to still be a kid. And that's like, well, that's
- 29:08kind of weird. But yeah, so I just, I really
- 29:11like it. And I really love how much
- 29:14Dennis, Dennis, how much he loves this family that has
- 29:22welcomed him in. I like that we get that right
- 29:24from the bat. And I like that their
- 29:27dissolution isn't like, you believe in this stuff and I
- 29:30don't believe in this stuff. You're crazy.
- 29:32You're not instead of that it's hey, you are not spending time
- 29:38with me or the girls like that is part of her problem.
- 29:42Part of it she's also like, you're crazy though towards the
- 29:44end there. Part of it I think, is she's
- 29:46upset that he's like egging on her child.
- 29:49She blames she blames him for Katie storming into the room,
- 29:54saying Toby pulled my hair. She said you did this.
- 29:57So, like, no, Toby. Toby.
- 30:01Did Toby. Come on.
- 30:03Don't you see him? He's right there.
- 30:05Got Toby on his belly. He's there.
- 30:07Don't call. Him fat.
- 30:08Yeah, don't call him fat. Yeah, don't sit.
- 30:09In his chair. That's so funny that he's like
- 30:12that. OK, OK.
- 30:14Now for your bad Beyond the trailer.
- 30:17Yeah, beyond the trailer, this wasn't like a persistent thing
- 30:22because you were right. Like they did the acting so well
- 30:24with some of that stuff. But I think like at the
- 30:27beginning there was some like sometimes these movies don't
- 30:31have authentic dialogue. Like there's supposed to be like
- 30:34home videos, but like this shit isn't happening like at a home,
- 30:38you know, like party or whatever.
- 30:40I think it was mostly the characters from the like the
- 30:42first two. Whenever they Chrissy grown up,
- 30:46whenever she was like not acting super well in that scene.
- 30:50I just wasn't believing. It I was thrown off for a
- 30:53minute. So I was like, who are these
- 30:54ladies? Yeah.
- 30:55Well, I knew it was Katie, but I didn't know.
- 30:57I was like, oh, right, Christy, right.
- 30:59We're we're. Starting move.
- 31:00What are you talking about? Yeah I I always forget that.
- 31:04Starts off with like some paranormal activity too.
- 31:06Shit. Can I add one more thing to my
- 31:08good? Sure.
- 31:09No, Mika. No, Mika, I'm kind of sad
- 31:13though. Does mean even though he sucks,
- 31:15he's like the fun kind of He sucks, that's true.
- 31:18Yeah, He's fun to watch. Reality TV villain?
- 31:21Kind of. Yeah, exactly.
- 31:23Yeah, I guess other than that, like, I don't know, like can't
- 31:27really say too much else bad about it.
- 31:30I think my main gripe and I don't need it to be a jump
- 31:33scare, I'm in it. I it just, it felt like it flew
- 31:38by. It's a short movie.
- 31:40It is a short movie, but it feels like we really don't see a
- 31:44ton of things happen. Not in a way where it feels like
- 31:47the movie is dragging on, but it is just a little bit weird.
- 31:53I know what you mean, you're right.
- 31:55I feel like some of the other ones I feel like you get more
- 31:59like night blank, like night one night 2 like in the other
- 32:03movies. This one right here.
- 32:04I think more shit happens in a single night than it.
- 32:08Does. And maybe maybe that's why it
- 32:10feels like that, because we're not getting as many of those new
- 32:13day cards. Yeah, like in.
- 32:15Our new night cards. Rather in the other movies I
- 32:17feel like it has a slower build up and then in this one right
- 32:21here, like Toby's out the gate being like a little stinker.
- 32:24Yeah. He's just out there.
- 32:26Yeah, he's just out there like toying with them.
- 32:28Yeah, I guess, OK. Thank you for working this
- 32:31through with me because I do. Now that you're saying that, I
- 32:34do think that maybe it would feel more tense, but like
- 32:38probably artificially to be like night one, night two night.
- 32:41Three, it works too. Like, yeah, you take that dial
- 32:44and you just slowly you're building the tension and then
- 32:47you go for the big release at the end rather than like our
- 32:50end. Whoa.
- 32:52And just dialing all the. Way because there's fewer
- 32:54moments to ignore throughout because what gets Julie like
- 32:58she's just like, this is she's like, you're not used to kids.
- 33:01Kids are fucking weird. And then she goes to the kitchen
- 33:05and all of her shit falls from the ceiling.
- 33:07She's like mom. Yeah, that's true.
- 33:12So OK, OK, I guess that's it for bad.
- 33:15But you're ugly. That's kind of shitty that the
- 33:18babysitter didn't tell them anything that went on, but maybe
- 33:21she was embarrassed to admit that she thought that there was
- 33:24a ghost around there. But there's also the cameras.
- 33:27There's also the cameras, maybe. Yeah, she doesn't.
- 33:29It's. Not like she tried to lie about
- 33:31anything. He's just like, I gotta go.
- 33:34For a second I thought that she she, but like she didn't know
- 33:36some. But she does have like a whole
- 33:38scene where she like, jumps, scares the camera.
- 33:41Yeah. But I was just imagining myself
- 33:43like, he's got it on that little like swiveling fan thing.
- 33:45Like if you just like put like a little bit of like foilage, like
- 33:49it's like a stick of like a branch with like a little bit of
- 33:52leaves on it to try and like blend it into the house like
- 33:56this giant S camera, but he put like a twig on top of it.
- 33:59Top of a a potted plant. Yeah, like it's in the ficus,
- 34:05but the actual oscillation part is above the top.
- 34:08It's like so loud because it's like such an old camera from the
- 34:11apes. Yeah, OK.
- 34:15But no, no, I mean, that's like the only thing I could think of
- 34:17ugly wise. Mine is that Grandma Lois, One,
- 34:21fully known that she's gonna kill Dennis.
- 34:25And two, sitting there telling Julie like, hey, I think he's a
- 34:30Leech. I think that you're too good for
- 34:34him. You're rich and hot.
- 34:36And what does he do? Nothing.
- 34:39Oh, he shoots wedding videos. First of all.
- 34:42That's a lot. That's really hard.
- 34:43Fucking it is, and it pays pretty well so they are
- 34:46expensive. But yeah, just implying that
- 34:50he's using her as a sugar Mama is.
- 34:54We don't have any evidence of that.
- 34:56It's just her trying to poison the well.
- 34:58And it makes me sad because he actually seems to genuinely care
- 35:02about the girls. She, I think she might have been
- 35:04trying to plant a seed because like remember the demon feeds
- 35:08off of negativity and I think she was trying to do that to try
- 35:11and like. Y'all are too happy.
- 35:13Yeah, like, come on, he's not that great.
- 35:15What about Mika? You know he'll grow into a shit
- 35:19one day. Mika's just a child at this
- 35:22point. Yeah, I'm uncomfortable with
- 35:24where this is going, Chavis. OK, yeah, I didn't.
- 35:32Perfect for Katie. Absurd.
- 35:37Boy. I got 2 written down.
- 35:39OK, the first one is Toby shoulder checks, Katie, I go.
- 35:45They're up there playing. In the bedroom.
- 35:48And she's just running just sham shoulder checks here.
- 35:52And the other one, I had one written down here, but I'm gonna
- 35:57not say it anymore because it was just like the rule from our
- 36:01game. Like the parents weren't waking
- 36:03up during all that shit, which is absurd.
- 36:07But I was thinking about how the house that they bought would
- 36:12play out as a House Hunters episode because they definitely
- 36:15saw this. Like this is a weird space
- 36:17upstairs. And like that realtor would
- 36:19probably be like, Oh yeah, you can totally use it as a another
- 36:22bedroom for the children. It would be great.
- 36:24Yeah, it was like loft space for the children.
- 36:27Yeah. Interesting.
- 36:28Yeah, but the kids don't have any privacy.
- 36:30Like they just have like a little upstairs area and.
- 36:34You know, see, you're saying that about house hunters.
- 36:36My house hunters had in cannon happening was that they were
- 36:40told that fireplace in the kitchen would need like several
- 36:44$1000 worth of work to be functional.
- 36:46So that's why they just have kids toys shoved in there.
- 36:49Oh man. That's such a weird place to
- 36:50shove kids toys. OK, what's your absurd?
- 36:53My absurd is OK, so we got the tiny room in the loft, right?
- 36:58And Toby goes in there and fucks shit up and he scribbles on the
- 37:01ceiling. All makes sense.
- 37:03Perfectly logical for a demon. It's even got like the chaotic
- 37:05scribbling of a demon because I don't know what a demon's fine
- 37:08mortar coordination looks like. Who knows?
- 37:10They're non corporeal. Then at one point lights are
- 37:16flickering, winds are blowing, sheets are coming off a Katie's
- 37:21bed because Toby likes Christie, and the light bright comes on in
- 37:26the corner and it's got a perfectly done symbol.
- 37:31Over Toby. Yeah, that's so funny.
- 37:34It's. Like when did Toby do that?
- 37:37Like was he going red, green, orange, blue, red, green,
- 37:42orange, blue? He's.
- 37:44Bored man. I can't jokingly calling this
- 37:46the Deathly Hallows symbol last night because it's so close to
- 37:49it, but knowing that this came out the same year is definitely
- 37:52there's no way that's a quint. I feel like they had because
- 37:54they definitely shot at the same year too.
- 37:56So like they're like, that's totally coming out around that
- 37:58time. Interesting.
- 38:00OK. So are we ready to rate?
- 38:03Yes. All right.
- 38:04I agree with people. I think this is one of the
- 38:08stronger Paranormal Activity movies.
- 38:10I think I'd give it an 8 1/2. I'm gonna give it a nine.
- 38:15Nine, OK. Because I just, I think it's
- 38:18really, it's not just that it's really well done, but it's a
- 38:21really well done origin story, which is hard to do without
- 38:25retconning a bunch of shit. Especially having a hinge on two
- 38:28child actors, which is really tough.
- 38:30And they do so well and the chemistry with the family is
- 38:33great. And you know, we talked about
- 38:36they they didn't do as intensively like night whatever
- 38:40card. And that kind of helps it move
- 38:43quicker. So yeah, then then we have like
- 38:46less moments where it feels like, oh, night 2 is just
- 38:49sleeping. Yeah, there's less of that in
- 38:52this movie. Yeah.
- 38:52I don't think that there was a single night where nothing
- 38:54happened. Yeah.
- 38:56And, and I think that's part of the key is that we don't get
- 38:59those false moments anymore. So I think it's really solid and
- 39:02I think our starting score of 8.75 is very well earned.
- 39:05I like it. Yeah, that's a good place for
- 39:07it. OK.
- 39:08Are we ready? We're ready.
- 39:10All right, so we start off with paranormal activity too.
- 39:15Yeah, which? Apparently a lot of people
- 39:18edited a Paranormal Activity 3 poster off of Paranormal
- 39:22Activity 2. Images that is really confusing.
- 39:26I don't understand. I don't get it.
- 39:27Yeah, it starts off with the dose.
- 39:29You get the dad there, they're recording the baby room like.
- 39:33A nursery, is that the word? Yeah, that's the word.
- 39:35I didn't know it, so I was really used to you.
- 39:41The baby space. I find it best when you don't
- 39:43know the word to just like say the definition.
- 39:46People will understand what you mean.
- 39:47What was it that you asked me last week?
- 39:50What is the fan theory? But it's based in real life.
- 39:55Yep, conspiracy theory is very just.
- 39:57Looking for people? It's OK because later I said
- 40:00what is it when it's satire about Jesus?
- 40:02Yep, that's sacrilegious. So know your strengths, people.
- 40:07All right? So yeah, it's a little bit of
- 40:09that. They're just going around the
- 40:10house, and then we get Katie stopping by and dropping off
- 40:13some old VHS tapes from Grandma's house.
- 40:16Yep. Yeah, she she compliments the
- 40:19Jamaica blue. Glad that she went with that
- 40:21instead of the green. Yeah.
- 40:23So she's got some tapes. She's got some boxes of stuff
- 40:26that she wants to store in their basement while she moves,
- 40:28because I think the red flags are even flying now.
- 40:30We've seen the size of Mika's house, people.
- 40:33She could store these couple of boxes there, but Mika's?
- 40:37Yeah, jerk. It's not that big of a house, is
- 40:39it? It's a condo, isn't it?
- 40:41I didn't think it was. A huge house that she can have
- 40:45her boxes. Yeah, stuff there.
- 40:46Yeah, she can move in there. I think really realistically, I
- 40:49think because you can't bring that shit here.
- 40:52Yeah, fuck off. Red flags.
- 40:53That's when she gets pissed off. When she rolls into the driveway
- 40:57and he's got a camcorder. It's like, babe, I got so many
- 40:59tapes already. And so, yeah, one of her boxes
- 41:05is tapes from Grandma Lois and Chris.
- 41:08She's like, I never get anything.
- 41:11So now you get these tapes, you get.
- 41:13To keep them. And she's like, I don't even
- 41:14remember what's on these. Cut to August 2. 1006.
- 41:20Yes, after the events of Paranormal Activity 2, they are
- 41:25assessing the damage from Katie's attack.
- 41:28Yeah, they're document. No, it's not after Katie's
- 41:31attack, it's when it's happening simultaneously with it.
- 41:34Oh yeah, cuz they're having their own hauntings happening.
- 41:37Yeah. They think somebody broke in.
- 41:39That's the part right there. Yeah, they think somebody broke
- 41:41in. They're trying to avoid their
- 41:43dog getting cut on glass. The dog who goes on to live
- 41:45happily ever after is thank you. Christopher Landon.
- 41:48Christopher Landon for. Confirming for us.
- 41:52He they're documenting to make sure nothing's missing or
- 41:55damaged for insurance purposes, and the only thing missing was
- 41:58the box of tapes in the. Basement.
- 42:00Interesting thing to have that would be terrifying if you came
- 42:02home and just tape home. Tapes are stolen.
- 42:07Yeah, it's, well, it's kind of like in the first one, remember
- 42:09where they had shit happen and all that was missing was that
- 42:12photo of Katie and Christine was up in the attic.
- 42:15It's fucking creepy. Yeah, that's, that's creepier
- 42:18than like something valuable, like something monetarily
- 42:21valuable being stolen. Yeah, something with sentimental
- 42:23stuff. You're like, this is personal.
- 42:25Yeah, it's personal and it seems like it has purpose.
- 42:28Too. Yes, it's invasive in a million
- 42:32more ways. Yeah, exactly.
- 42:34OK, so we cut back to 1988, September 3rd.
- 42:39It is the birthday of Katie. She is turning 8 years old.
- 42:43I I counted the candles, so I wasn't.
- 42:47Wondering what you were counting.
- 42:48And I was like, did she mention her age in one of the movies and
- 42:51you were doing the math? No, she's 8.
- 42:53And I was like, OK, I was like, I'll just take your word for it.
- 42:58Hey, she's 8 years old, OK, I. Didn't even look at the birthday
- 43:01cake. We, this is what we do on this
- 43:04show. We do the deep dive shit.
- 43:06She is 8 years old. I counted the candles.
- 43:07People, you are welcome. Everybody wanted to know, so
- 43:11yeah, she's just doing normal birthday shit.
- 43:13We get little head shots of or talking heads of the family
- 43:19members of grandma. Grandma Lois inspires Phyllis
- 43:23Juan's mom at her wedding. Yeah, happy birthday to you so
- 43:28bad. That's why she kills people,
- 43:29because she was. She's like, I need that erase
- 43:31from that tape. I got to kill him to.
- 43:33Sleep. My God, that's so cringy.
- 43:36And he Dennis? Dennis.
- 43:38He's just all like, hey, thank you for loving me and accepting
- 43:43me into this family. Oh, it's.
- 43:45So it warms my heart. They heard the people back
- 43:51whenever the first one came out. They're like, we can't have
- 43:53another Miko. We can't be the franchise with
- 43:55shitty boyfriends. We need a We need a functional
- 43:59family for most of the movies. Any of this will be a happy home
- 44:03for a minute. Here gotcha.
- 44:04I mean, in in Part 2 they're they get along well enough, but
- 44:09they're mostly detached from each other.
- 44:11Yeah. And I think that they're.
- 44:12And Christy gets possessed like halfway through so.
- 44:14Yeah, yeah. So we get some shots of Christy.
- 44:19She is hiding underneath one of the tables talking to nobody.
- 44:22No, she's hiding under trampoline.
- 44:24Trampoline, OH. Yeah, yeah, cuz she's cuz kids
- 44:26are weird. That's.
- 44:28True and. That's the type of thing kids
- 44:29do. So not just nobody though, it's
- 44:32a Toby nobody. Yeah, Toby.
- 44:34Toby, yeah. That's that's what Toby's short
- 44:37for, yeah. Toby So yeah, that's that.
- 44:42Like we get Christy just like, or no, Katie just beating the
- 44:45shit off a pinata and everybody's like, hey, chill.
- 44:48Just take it easy, Katie, hey. Julie, I know they've been
- 44:52struggling without their their birth father.
- 44:55Maybe you should get Katie some therapy.
- 44:59It's not that great. It kind of really upset some of
- 45:01the children there. And we get some like slice of
- 45:04life footage. We see Christy with a loose
- 45:07tooth. Yeah.
- 45:09We. Talking about some Toby.
- 45:12Yeah, she's well, cuz she gets ice cream cuz loose tooth,
- 45:15that's what you get. Yeah.
- 45:16And then she says she needs a bowl for Toby, and Katie says
- 45:19imaginary friends are for stupid babies and you're a stupid baby,
- 45:22dude. You know what this would have
- 45:25been primed for a tooth fairy scene.
- 45:27Oh man. Where she hides it under the
- 45:30pillow and the pillow moves and the tooth disappears and the
- 45:33parents are like, I don't remember taking the tooth.
- 45:36Yeah, that would have been. They should have done that.
- 45:39Missed opportunity. Yeah, for sure.
- 45:41So that doesn't happen though. Yeah, you know what does happen?
- 45:45We have picture day. Yep, picture day.
- 45:47And then Dennis is doing some editing.
- 45:50We argued about this at first because it was like, he's
- 45:53editing wedding footage and you were like, no, he's not editing
- 45:58anything. This is a home video, no?
- 46:02No shit. I was confused for a second
- 46:04because I saw his face and then we cut to a wedding and I
- 46:07thought it was their wedding. I was like, is that supposed to
- 46:09be him? Because it's another dude and
- 46:11he's got a mullet and that doesn't look like Dennis
- 46:13anymore. But the woman kind of looked
- 46:15like Julie, so I thought, maybe, I don't know.
- 46:19I know that's not what it is. Yeah, but he's editing and then
- 46:22he hears the sound upstairs and it's this creepy fucking teddy
- 46:25bear that fell over and he's talking and making noise.
- 46:28Yeah, that is creepy. It kind of looks like the
- 46:30Shoney's teddy bear. Yeah, it does look a little bit,
- 46:32yeah. We also Speaking of Shoney's, we
- 46:39were listening to a true crime podcast that is the post is
- 46:45Australian. I'm not sure if the rest of
- 46:47their team is or not, but I would assume so early days they
- 46:51covered mostly Australian cases that they were covering a case
- 46:56in Ohio and they like referred to they're like this man
- 47:00stumbled into a small diner called Shoney's.
- 47:03I was like national franchise Shoney's.
- 47:07Aw man, I love me some fucking Shoney's.
- 47:10As a kid I used to go to that buffet.
- 47:11Woke me up on all kinds of. Food.
- 47:13I wonder if it's still around. The one in my hometown is gone
- 47:17and I thought that would be standing long after the end of
- 47:20the entire earth. So.
- 47:21It's probably shitty now if it is around.
- 47:24Still. The Shoney's was the shit back
- 47:25in the. Day.
- 47:26Yeah, that's where we do like birthday buffets, yeah.
- 47:29It's. Awesome, yeah.
- 47:31So OK, yeah. So yeah, yeah, he's looking for
- 47:36Julian. He found some teddy bears.
- 47:38So now we see some of the bedroom shit.
- 47:41The little door is open in the bedroom.
- 47:44Yeah, it got a tiny door. Yeah, and they got a little tiny
- 47:46closet, which is kind of nice for the girls to put their toys,
- 47:50and that's very convenient for children.
- 47:51I still think it's funny though that the realtor probably sold
- 47:54that as and here's your closet. Your walk in closet.
- 47:57If you're a child, you can do it at that size.
- 48:01That's why they suggest like perfect room for the girl.
- 48:04Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 48:05But they're Christy's in there and Dennis is trying to talk to
- 48:10her and yeah, that's. Yeah, Dennis is like up there
- 48:16trying to, yeah, talk to Christy, right?
- 48:19Yes, yeah, yeah. And now we get some sexy time.
- 48:24Yeah, so it cuts to the bedroom first.
- 48:26Julia's like Dennis don't record this, this is illegal.
- 48:30And Dennis is recording her smoking marijuana.
- 48:34Yeah, you know, this is kind of funny cuz I remember in the
- 48:37first, God damn it, Jesse dropping a clipboard again.
- 48:43I thought it was really interesting because in the first
- 48:45movie, Mika's trying so hard to get Katie to have sex on camera.
- 48:49And then the first time Dennis tried it, she's like, fuck yeah,
- 48:51let's do it. I'm hot, baby.
- 48:53Yeah, I was gonna say he was smart and waited till she was at
- 48:56the peak of her high and you could tell she was starting to
- 48:58question it because it was taking him too long to get
- 49:00ready. And she's like, you need to do
- 49:02this before I change my mind. And here's what we need to talk
- 49:05about with this scene is they're getting ready to do it.
- 49:07They're crawling on the bed and they're under Roos.
- 49:11And I don't mean to be a pervert, but I'm looking for the
- 49:15realism of this. Seen people.
- 49:16Where is his boner? He was soft.
- 49:20Yeah. Like that's not going to be the
- 49:23reality. Because they were This is APG 13
- 49:26movie, but in this moment. OK, he could be camera shy, but
- 49:31he's the one that suggested. It.
- 49:32So I don't know. I get it, a fluffer is a
- 49:36professional position. He can sell fluff off camera.
- 49:42Yeah, like a whole new production, you know, in the in
- 49:45the skin flick here. So, you know, you gotta do, you
- 49:48gotta wear many hats. Yeah, you gotta be the director,
- 49:52the producer, the actor and the fluffer.
- 49:55Just imagine him in the corner, just like looking at the corner.
- 49:58Just like, hold on, honey. She's just like, oh God, what
- 50:05have I done? Man, that would be sad.
- 50:09Anyway, they don't get to do it because there's an earthquake.
- 50:11Yeah, bomber that. That sucks for them and they run
- 50:16out and then the next day he's reviewing the footage and as
- 50:20he's reviewing the footage, Randy walks in and.
- 50:23He's like, oh, you guys made a sex tape?
- 50:25I like how he actually admits it.
- 50:28Like the guy's like, oh, is that a sex tape?
- 50:30He's like, yeah, but don't worry because we didn't get to do
- 50:32anything because there was an earthquake and it fucking sucks.
- 50:36Randy's like you're way too excited about the fact that your
- 50:38sex tape got interrupted. Yeah, right.
- 50:40But it is actually Really creepy because when the earthquake was
- 50:44happening, dust fell from the ceiling and it fell onto a
- 50:47figure and you could see Toby's shoulder.
- 50:49I. Like that, we get an outline of
- 50:51Toby here. Yeah, we get to get a preview.
- 50:53So Dennis shows tries to show Julie the video and I wrote
- 50:57Jules jazz lights. Jazz lights, Yeah.
- 51:01So Dennis is freaked out now, and he's going to set up cameras
- 51:04all through the house, as is this.
- 51:06Is actually Randy's suggestion. He's like, you know, yeah, maybe
- 51:10you can do this. Yeah, so he he puts it in the
- 51:13girls room and he puts one in the living room and it's a
- 51:16little. Talk with Katie about it.
- 51:17She's asking questions, she's curious.
- 51:20She's like, how long does a tape last?
- 51:22And it's like about six hours. She's like, so you have to
- 51:24change it every six hours. And I like that they acknowledge
- 51:28it and then it doesn't have to be a thing in the movie.
- 51:31Although I would love like just cutting between the footage and
- 51:36one of the rooms is just blank because it's out of town.
- 51:39That would have been. I would love that as just like a
- 51:42little moment for your laugh. Well.
- 51:43I think you could have used that for some good visual scary
- 51:47storytelling there too. It could have been played well.
- 51:50Yeah, that was an opportunity too.
- 51:52And you mentioned that it reminds you of I'm on
- 51:54observation duty. Yeah, it does.
- 51:56And that would be like when there's a camera malfunction or
- 52:00one of the cameras goes missing. Yeah, exactly.
- 52:02Yeah. Boy, that's creepy.
- 52:05So yeah, he's got all the cameras set up and we're rolling
- 52:09in and we got this shit going now.
- 52:11So night one, November 10th, 1988.
- 52:14Yeah, we get the little buzz of Toby's presents here.
- 52:18Yeah, and part of what Dennis is doing, because he says it's
- 52:21weird how many sounds this house is making because it's a new
- 52:24house. And that's why I like living in
- 52:26an old house because it probably is haunted.
- 52:28But any sounds I hear at night and just be like, it's an old
- 52:31house. Yeah, that's just what I tell
- 52:32myself all the time. It's easy because you Peace of
- 52:35Mind. So the buzz wakes Christie up
- 52:38and she runs downstairs and she gets up on the kitchen table and
- 52:42she just starts talking to him, which is a weird place to go for
- 52:45a conversation. No, no, this is this is not the
- 52:47table scene. This is the one where she walks
- 52:49towards the corner and she's just saying and she's talking
- 52:53about Dennis because I think Toby is already like over this
- 52:57fucking shit with yeah, it's night one.
- 52:59And he's like, what is this bullshit, this shit?
- 53:01And because you just hear her go, yeah, no, it's nice, yeah,
- 53:06yeah. And then she goes back to bed.
- 53:09Man, I wanna know what Toby says.
- 53:10I'd like to know. Yeah, I wanna know what she
- 53:14hears. Is it the voice of God directly
- 53:17in her head? Yeah.
- 53:19What is happening? I'm curious.
- 53:22So next day Dennis talks with Christy about what she was
- 53:27talking with Toby about. He has the same questions we
- 53:29have. Yeah, and she says that Dennis
- 53:32is her friend. He is big.
- 53:35Yeah, Dennis is her friend also. You're my friend, You're big.
- 53:40But Toby is also big. He's tall, not fat.
- 53:44Don't call him fat. He's old like grandma.
- 53:47Don't call him old. Don't call grandma would either.
- 53:51And she's like, but I can't tell him.
- 53:53I can't tell any of his secrets that he tells me.
- 53:56And he's like, why not? And she's like, because I'll get
- 53:59in big trouble. And he goes, she'll he'll hurt
- 54:01you. And she goes, no, just I won't
- 54:03be safe. I won't be safe.
- 54:04Yeah. Oh my God.
- 54:06That's scary, yeah. This is stuff that, like if a
- 54:09teacher heard her saying this in school, is having to make a
- 54:12mandated report. They would probably think it's
- 54:14Dennis. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:17It's just so scary. So he tells Julie and Julie is
- 54:20like, kids are weird dude, I don't know what to tell you.
- 54:24One time Katie would like fall. Katie used to fall asleep on the
- 54:28toilet. So and I think about that and I
- 54:32think about the weird stories my mom must have about me.
- 54:35Here's a weird Jesse as a child story.
- 54:38I used to tie string all across my room and then hang my toys
- 54:43from it like I lived in the spider web.
- 54:46So I would just wonder how often my mom was like I hope this is a
- 54:49phase she grows out of I. Like she still doesn't.
- 54:54Randy is like, hey, there is way too much footage for you to go
- 54:59through. This is an insane amount.
- 55:01You were getting six hours from 2, two different cameras every
- 55:04night. That's that's a lie.
- 55:06Or 2024 * 248 hours. And they get tired of arguing
- 55:12about math. And then they start arguing
- 55:13about Back to the Future. Yeah, it should be back to the
- 55:16present. Or back from the past.
- 55:18Back from the past, Whatever. That's what Dennis thinks at.
- 55:22Least yeah, that's it's a very normal kind of conversation that
- 55:25people just have. Yeah, but they hear a noise, so
- 55:28they go investigate it. And they're like looking
- 55:30through, it's coming from their master bathroom and it's in the
- 55:34closet. And he opens the door and he
- 55:37pulls the clothes back. It's Julie in a mask.
- 55:43She had a good laugh about it. I jumped.
- 55:46Talia jumped. Talia jumped hard, she got so
- 55:49scared from that. Here's the thing people like to
- 55:52say, like, oh, there's a bunch of jump scares, but when a jump
- 55:54scare is effective, it's fucking effective.
- 55:56I'm scared. I'm scared, you know?
- 55:58It's not. It wasn't a cheap jump scare.
- 55:59It was earned. Yeah.
- 56:01So night 5. The girls are outside camping.
- 56:05I like that Dennis brings them some candy.
- 56:08He like sneaks it too. And he's like, don't tell your
- 56:10mom. Yeah, that was sweet.
- 56:11Yeah. So at about 3:27 AM on September
- 56:1714th, the lights are flickering on and off in the hall.
- 56:22September 14th. I got 11 they they had the first
- 56:26night 11/10. It had been a couple of months.
- 56:29Absolutely not. It was all September.
- 56:31No. Yes.
- 56:32No. I've got 914, then 917, then
- 56:369/19. I made a no where.
- 56:40I looked at the screen and said no.
- 56:45I said September, but I'm pretty sure I saw November.
- 56:49You didn't. Whatever, that's not too
- 56:52important. Anyways, this is gonna watch the
- 56:54details here. Okay, fine.
- 56:57So yeah. Anyway, the lights are
- 57:00flickering on and off in the hall and sounds wake up Julie,
- 57:04who then wakes up Dennis, who looks around for the source of
- 57:08the sound and checks to see if the girls like got cold or
- 57:13uncomfortable or whatever and snuck back in.
- 57:15But they're not in their room. So he goes downstairs and the
- 57:18door is locked, which they wouldn't have.
- 57:20They're like, we didn't lock this because we wanted the girls
- 57:23to be able to come in. Yeah, that would be scary for
- 57:25the kids, Jesse. You should just not hold that
- 57:27there. I should actually hold.
- 57:29It or actually hold it? Yeah.
- 57:31OK, OK, so yeah, go out there and they make the kids come back
- 57:36inside because shit's getting kind of unsafe.
- 57:38Yeah, they're just, they're a little bit uncomfortable with
- 57:41it, which fair. Yeah.
- 57:42You know, the next morning when Dennis is at work and the girls
- 57:48are at school, Lois is over and is talking to Julie about how,
- 57:52oh, Dennis is just using your credit card to go buy this stuff
- 57:57and plant those seeds like we talked about earlier.
- 58:01And she was like, didn't you say you used to want to have a big
- 58:04family? You wanted a son?
- 58:07Remember that. Yeah.
- 58:10And Julie's like, I'm happy. Why can't that be enough?
- 58:13And Lois is like, oh, if only you knew.
- 58:17He's getting ready to go shoot a wedding, him and Randy both.
- 58:20And you can tell because they're in their nice outfit, getting
- 58:23equipment and everything. And he's Randy mentions the
- 58:26house set up. He's like, you're missing a lot
- 58:28of stuff happening. You need to be able to get some
- 58:30angles, you know, figure out a way to do that.
- 58:33Maybe mirrors. Later the night when Julie comes
- 58:36home, she sees that Dennis is taking apart her oscillating fan
- 58:42and put a camera on top of it. Also while they were packing
- 58:45shit into the car, Randy casually mentions Bloody Mary
- 58:49and Katie overhears is like bloody Mary bloody Mary, can we
- 58:52play? And Brandon said oh that you
- 58:56didn't hear anything? That's not real.
- 58:57That's not real. Yeah.
- 58:59So night 8, September 17th. OK, if you say so.
- 59:05I've got them all written as November, just so you know this.
- 59:09Is October. No night 1011, no tiny 11 right
- 59:13there. I I don't know what is wrong
- 59:18with you I. Oh no, I do have night AS
- 59:23September shit. God damn it.
- 59:25OK, fuck. Yay.
- 59:28Man. All right, OK, so.
- 59:29Four O 2:00 AM. Christy is running around like a
- 59:33little gremlin. It's scary.
- 59:36And this is when she runs to the kitchen table to talk to Toby.
- 59:39Yeah, she talks to Toby on the kitchen table, and then she
- 59:41sneaks around her parents room. Julie asks Christy about Toby
- 59:45the next day and she's like, well, just talk to him yourself.
- 59:48He's right there. Oh, that's creepy.
- 59:51Yeah. So Randy brings Dennis some
- 59:56books about the occult and whatnot.
- 59:59He got them from the library, but he stole them.
- 1:00:01He's like, you can't steal from the library, It's all free.
- 1:00:03He goes, yeah, but you have to have an account.
- 1:00:06And he's talking about the source of the the name.
- 1:00:10Yes, Biblioteca. Yes, Biblioteca.
- 1:00:13Yeah. So he says that kids are
- 1:00:16especially susceptible to spiritual contact and all of
- 1:00:21this weirdness that they're talking about, sort of when
- 1:00:23Christie started talking to Toby.
- 1:00:25And demons feed off of fear. So these are the important
- 1:00:28points that they have learned. Yes.
- 1:00:30Nine, 10910 Yes. September 19th, 1988, 12:58 AM.
- 1:00:36I went back to November and then notes here too.
- 1:00:39I don't know what the fuck. Was I don't know what happened.
- 1:00:43So yeah, 12:58 AM Julie goes to get a snack cuz she wakes up all
- 1:00:48hungry. She wakes up hungry.
- 1:00:49She goes downstairs. She's just eating her little
- 1:00:53snacky poo, cleaning up after herself.
- 1:00:55This is a nice idea to have the camera rotating back and forth
- 1:00:59because this scene is so good. So she's just there doing that,
- 1:01:03and then you like, as the camera is panning from her in the
- 1:01:06kitchen all the way to the doorway in the living room, you
- 1:01:08get the little ghost sheet. No, no, this is not the ghost
- 1:01:11sheet. This is the lamp sheets.
- 1:01:14You're right, you're right, you're right.
- 1:01:15Sheets the. Babysitter.
- 1:01:16Yeah, yeah, yeah, Never mind. OK, So, yeah, the lamp is
- 1:01:18starting to swing. Like swing a little bit and then
- 1:01:21it cuts back to Julie and then you get this loud bang.
- 1:01:24Yeah, and they everybody wakes up and comes downstairs and the
- 1:01:29lamp didn't really break, which is why.
- 1:01:31This is weird, yeah. The next day, Dennis joins
- 1:01:36Christie's tea party and. Almost sits in Toby.
- 1:01:40Seat almost sits in Toby seat. Toby wouldn't like that.
- 1:01:43Wouldn't like that, No. And Katie's making fun of
- 1:01:46Christie and they are kind of going back and forth and then
- 1:01:50she ends up going in the little room and the door slams and
- 1:01:55Katie's like, Krista, let me out, let me out.
- 1:01:57And then little Christie goes, you shouldn't have do that.
- 1:02:00You shouldn't have do that you. Shouldn't have do that?
- 1:02:03Which is going to be our tagline for this movie, everybody.
- 1:02:06We decided that last night. You shouldn't have do that.
- 1:02:09That's the tagline. For Paranormal Activity 3,
- 1:02:11because it's the way a little kid, like you could tell we were
- 1:02:16talking about it, it doesn't feel like the script was written
- 1:02:19that way because you can't write authentic child dialogue that
- 1:02:23way. But that is absolutely the way a
- 1:02:26six or seven-year old who's getting too excited and is
- 1:02:28tripping over their own words would say it.
- 1:02:30We're like, did did they do this scene multiple?
- 1:02:34Times. That's my best.
- 1:02:35Take they got you shouldn't have do that.
- 1:02:38I'm just wondering how many takes the director going cut.
- 1:02:42God damn it, you shouldn't have done that.
- 1:02:47Should you do? That and I like it though
- 1:02:50because it feels real. It does feel real, yeah.
- 1:02:53So Lisa is there to babysit so Dennis and Julie can have a
- 1:02:56great night. The girls are trying to
- 1:03:01negotiate their bedtime unsuccessfully.
- 1:03:04Can't do that with a babysitter. Babysitter.
- 1:03:06Always a nose. And they're like, tell us a
- 1:03:08ghost story. But she doesn't really tell a
- 1:03:10ghost story because she's smarter than that.
- 1:03:12She knows that we'd. We're not trying to get people
- 1:03:14scared. Yeah, but she does put on a
- 1:03:17sheet and pretends to be a ghost.
- 1:03:20I'm a ghost. I'm a ghost.
- 1:03:22That's basically it. So the kids go to bed?
- 1:03:25Yeah, they go to sleep. She's in the kitchen doing some
- 1:03:28homework. It's about 1011.
- 1:03:30She does a Boo at the camera. I'm confused at how old she's
- 1:03:34supposed to be because she's doing homework but then later on
- 1:03:37Randy's like can you set me up with her?
- 1:03:39Like is she in college? That's possible.
- 1:03:42She would have to be I. Have maybe like 17 or 18.
- 1:03:45OK, so yeah, she's doing homework down there and you got
- 1:03:48the cool camera panning thing. Yes, and this is really nice
- 1:03:51because it's one of those like it automatically sets up that
- 1:03:55kind of dread because you're like what am I going to see when
- 1:03:58I. Yeah.
- 1:03:58What are you seeing over there? And then, yeah, it's like time
- 1:04:01goes by, you know what's going to be over there.
- 1:04:04Then when I come back. And what we see is a small
- 1:04:09figure in a sheet, and we've established Toby's big.
- 1:04:13Yes, this is. So we're thinking maybe this is
- 1:04:15Christy or Katie, Maybe they're trying to be a little sneaky
- 1:04:19sneak and they climb secretly into the kitchen and then the
- 1:04:23sheet just jumps. Now, I don't think it's a
- 1:04:25different demon. I think this is Toby being a
- 1:04:27scamp. Can Toby resize himself?
- 1:04:29I think so. I think Toby.
- 1:04:31Be like, on his, like, knees just like crawling.
- 1:04:34Crawling. Yeah.
- 1:04:36No, I like, I like to imagine that he appears different ways
- 1:04:39to different people. And for Christie, like bigger
- 1:04:44will probably be more impressive.
- 1:04:45She's a child. That's true.
- 1:04:48But yeah, so she's, she Lisa goes upstairs to check on the
- 1:04:51girls and they're asleep and she kind of gets near the camera and
- 1:04:55something blows in her face and she's freaked out.
- 1:04:58She's waiting by the door when they get home at 11.
- 1:05:00And she really like, she, I think she would have left
- 1:05:02without the money. And us, like, hold on.
- 1:05:04She's like, OK, thanks. Bye.
- 1:05:05And they're just like, that was weird.
- 1:05:08Don't know what happened there. Are you OK?
- 1:05:10And then Dennis shows Randy the ghost video.
- 1:05:15Yeah, and like, how do you explain that?
- 1:05:17Yeah, I do like though this made me happy for a reason I can't
- 1:05:21really explain, but I like the authenticity that Randy is
- 1:05:26holding the old school big pen cuz we got the big pen in our
- 1:05:29house. They're the new like translucent
- 1:05:31Gray, but back in the day they were white with Black Cats.
- 1:05:35Yeah, I remember them. And that's what he's got, and he
- 1:05:37really likes that little touch. That was some nice attention to
- 1:05:40detail right there. Good, good decoration.
- 1:05:43So yeah, they're just reviewing the footage and no explanation.
- 1:05:48No explanation, no, but they're like, that's a fucking ghost.
- 1:05:50Like they are sold now. Yeah, that they're the place is
- 1:05:54actually haunted. So Night 13 September 22nd 2:17
- 1:05:59AM Christy is in her parents doorway for more than an hour
- 1:06:04and just. Standing there doing the old
- 1:06:06Katie trick and. Then she tells Toby she doesn't
- 1:06:09want to talk to him anymore. Then we see the room in the
- 1:06:14daytime. She's got the fucking frog chair
- 1:06:16from Animal Crossing. She does.
- 1:06:18And you know, if you if you know those of you know.
- 1:06:21Yeah. You know, And I didn't even know
- 1:06:23if that was a real chair, but apparently either it is or
- 1:06:27somebody is an Animal Crossing fan who made this movie.
- 1:06:31I like to imagine somebody is an Animal Crossing fan.
- 1:06:33That's. What I hope, that's what I hope
- 1:06:35that's what. I hope so.
- 1:06:36The Deathly Hallows has been drawn in the little room.
- 1:06:39Oh yeah, and we get the Animal Crossing cheer.
- 1:06:42Yeah, and then Christie has a really bad fever.
- 1:06:45Yeah, it's a It's a Toby Rage fever.
- 1:06:47Yeah, is what this is. So they they make Randy watch
- 1:06:52Katie while they take her to the doctor.
- 1:06:54They'll like make him, but they're like, hey, you're a pal
- 1:06:57and our babysitter probably quit after being yes, so can you come
- 1:07:03hang out with Katie and Katie's like, hey, we're doing Bloody
- 1:07:07Mary. And Randy's like, OK, except
- 1:07:10because he's a lame O, he turns the light on right away and
- 1:07:15she's like, you did it wrong. You have to leave it off longer.
- 1:07:19So they do it again. Well, he's, this is yeah,
- 1:07:22interesting because he's like, OK, yeah, it's stupid.
- 1:07:24It's not real. And she's like, no, we got to do
- 1:07:26it. He's like, all right, you want
- 1:07:27to fucking do this, You want to fucking do Bloody Mary, we'll do
- 1:07:29the real thing. Like he's actually like kind of
- 1:07:31mad about it. He's like, we're fucking doing
- 1:07:33it then because. He asked her to explain what she
- 1:07:35thinks Bloody Mary is. And she's like, so you go in
- 1:07:37there and you say her name three times and you turn off the light
- 1:07:40and then she tries to kill you and he goes tries to kill you.
- 1:07:43Good game. Yeah, we're about to find out.
- 1:07:46He's like, all right, we're going to Bloody Mary harder than
- 1:07:48anybody's bloody married before. So they do it the first time he
- 1:07:51turns on the light too soon. So then they do it a second time
- 1:07:54and she will not let him turn on the light and then he gets
- 1:07:58attacked. Yeah, he gets straight up cut on
- 1:08:00his side. Yeah, he gets like a nice long
- 1:08:02cut and Katie is immediately freaked out.
- 1:08:06He goes, no, no, I probably just, I just accidentally
- 1:08:08scratched myself. I love this of him trying so
- 1:08:13hard to stay together for the kids.
- 1:08:16That's what the saying really is.
- 1:08:18Stay together for the kids mentally.
- 1:08:21Don't stay in a toxic relationship, but stay together
- 1:08:24mentally for the sake of the kids.
- 1:08:26He's still got to be the adult here.
- 1:08:28She's trying real hard, but that's a tough situation to do
- 1:08:30it. But it's so.
- 1:08:30Funny, but she's barely an adult himself.
- 1:08:33Yeah, he's a young and. He's also just kind of a funny
- 1:08:35character, so I just love this whole thing.
- 1:08:38Yeah. And he's like, he's like, no,
- 1:08:40it's OK, it's OK. And then they hear sounds out
- 1:08:42there and then there's an earthquake and he, he's so funny
- 1:08:46and sees furniture flying and he slams the door.
- 1:08:49He goes, it's OK, Katie, there's nothing out there.
- 1:08:51It's OK. And she's like.
- 1:08:53You know, you lose our respect for the person when they lose
- 1:08:55their shit like that. And yeah, it just pulling
- 1:08:58himself back together. That was me on.
- 1:09:00That one ride at Holiday World a couple of months ago.
- 1:09:02Yeah, you're scaring the kids. The kids were keeping it
- 1:09:05together for you. Yeah, I didn't expect it to be
- 1:09:09as intense as it was. Listen, those types of rides are
- 1:09:13not supposed to go vertical. They're not.
- 1:09:16They're not. I wasn't ready until.
- 1:09:18Until. Yeah.
- 1:09:20So anyway, Randy is trying to hype himself up and not freak
- 1:09:23out Katie, but he did a bad job. Yeah.
- 1:09:26When Dennis and Julie get back with Christy, Randy is mad.
- 1:09:30And he was like, you, you're fucking with something here.
- 1:09:34And Dennis is trying to basically gaslight him.
- 1:09:38He's like, no, it's not like that.
- 1:09:39I know I keep saying gaslight with these movies, but it's not.
- 1:09:42Wrong. It's true.
- 1:09:42That's what these movies are. And then he Randy's like, just
- 1:09:46fucking watch the tape because he recorded the whole thing
- 1:09:49because of course he did. Katie made him.
- 1:09:51I like that. He was like, no, bring in the
- 1:09:52camera. Yeah, I mean, it's smart.
- 1:09:55Crocodile Hunter, but with ghosts.
- 1:09:57That's what she's she is little. What is her name?
- 1:10:02Dundee. No, the crocodile hunter, his
- 1:10:06daughter. I don't know.
- 1:10:09I don't know that Bindi, Bindi. Irwin Bindi.
- 1:10:12Yeah. So she's a, she's a little
- 1:10:14little bindi, a little bindi. So Dennis watch is it and he.
- 1:10:19Tries to show. Julie.
- 1:10:22Yeah. And he's got, like, all this
- 1:10:24other research. He's got, like this photo from
- 1:10:26the 30s of these women that are all wearing the same, like
- 1:10:29wearing a necklace at the same symbol that's in the tiny room.
- 1:10:33And she's just not wanting to hear it.
- 1:10:35She freaks out on them. She's like, look, you gotta stop
- 1:10:39thinking this shit. You're hurting the kids.
- 1:10:42Like they're like getting really freaked out by this Toby thing.
- 1:10:46And to prove that point, Katie and Christy are upstairs playing
- 1:10:49tag and Katie runs into something.
- 1:10:53It's shoulder checked, shoulder checked by Toby.
- 1:10:55And then he picks her up by her hair.
- 1:10:58So yeah, he's he's Stelio Contos.
- 1:11:01Stelio Contos. So she runs downstairs and she's
- 1:11:06crying to her mom and she's like, Toby attacked me.
- 1:11:08And my hair. Yeah.
- 1:11:10And she looks like Dennis, like you did this.
- 1:11:13And. She's like, you're obsessed,
- 1:11:15you're not spending enough time with us, like this is a problem.
- 1:11:19So then we cut to night 14. It is 1:38 AM Katie's bed moves,
- 1:11:24and she ends up waking up Christy.
- 1:11:27And all of their stuff's moving. It starts off slow, like,
- 1:11:30stuff's just moving. The light bright comes on.
- 1:11:32The pictures on the wall are kind of blowing gently.
- 1:11:36Katie gets pulled to the little room, and Christy freaks out.
- 1:11:40Yeah, that's scary. Yeah.
- 1:11:41And she's like, fine, I'll do it, I'll do it.
- 1:11:43She uses Katie to Toby uses Katie to get Katie to agree to
- 1:11:49do what it is that she's supposed to do.
- 1:11:52So Julie, it cuts to Julie saying that like, we can't just
- 1:11:57go to grandma's house. Like this is we're not doing
- 1:11:59this. This is not what's happening.
- 1:12:01And then later when she's in the kitchen by herself, she's doing
- 1:12:06something. She hears a knock at the door,
- 1:12:08goes check on it and she comes back.
- 1:12:10She I like how she moves with the fan as it's as it's moving.
- 1:12:14I say the fan, the camera. Oh yeah.
- 1:12:16The. Fan yes, thank you.
- 1:12:19And she gets to the kitchen and all of the furniture.
- 1:12:24Everything. Decorations, everything, it's
- 1:12:28just gone. And then it all comes crashing
- 1:12:31down, and that's where she's like Dennis.
- 1:12:34Yeah, that's fucking crazy. Yeah, it's terrifying.
- 1:12:38Yeah, so. They're in Moorpark, CA now.
- 1:12:42September 1988. Old.
- 1:12:43Grandma's old. Grandma's So the girls, there's
- 1:12:47a distinct difference now because the girls are not
- 1:12:49talking to Dennis and if they are talking, it's like one word
- 1:12:51answers when whereas the whole rest of the movie we've seen
- 1:12:54them being very excited to engage with him.
- 1:12:57They clearly love him and he he loves them.
- 1:13:00And so this is a different, definitely a different dynamic
- 1:13:04that's happening. Yeah.
- 1:13:05So Chrissy's playing dress up with her grandma and sister and
- 1:13:09she's wearing like a whole ass wedding dress.
- 1:13:12And Dennis is like, who are you marrying?
- 1:13:14And she goes Toby. What?
- 1:13:17The fuck? So they go to bed, The girls are
- 1:13:21in the queen bed and Dennis and Julie are in 2 little twin beds.
- 1:13:28Except Julie climbs into Dennis's bed 'cause whatever.
- 1:13:33I thought it was interesting that he still sets up the
- 1:13:35cameras in Grandma's house. Yeah.
- 1:13:39So yeah, they are. It's 1:33 AM.
- 1:13:44Grandma's in the hallway and just watching Dennis and Julie
- 1:13:49in the bedroom. Dennis wakes up and everybody's
- 1:13:52gone and he just starts looking around the house cuz Julie's
- 1:13:55gone. The girls are gone.
- 1:13:57There's the creepy rocking horse from Hello Mary Lou.
- 1:13:59Prom night too. Downstairs, everything just
- 1:14:04feels a little bit weird. The pictures have been taken off
- 1:14:06the wall and there's symbols underneath them.
- 1:14:09That's frightening. There's silhouettes against the
- 1:14:12window, there's just like a lot of things happening that don't
- 1:14:17feel good. And he ends up going through his
- 1:14:20little breezeway towards a garage.
- 1:14:22I. Assume I think it was like
- 1:14:24either a shed or a guest house. Yeah, either way.
- 1:14:27Yeah. He walks in there and it's Lois
- 1:14:30and her bingo club and dude. This, this is creepy.
- 1:14:35I remember first time watching this.
- 1:14:36This is a creepy way to end the movie because there's just a
- 1:14:39fucking cult thing happening in the backyard.
- 1:14:42And here's the thing. So I know it's like a common
- 1:14:45trope in slashers about how the killer just, like, walks while
- 1:14:48the victim is running. Yeah, it's somehow creepier when
- 1:14:51it's a whole coven of witches just slowly walking after you
- 1:14:54and you're running. It's.
- 1:14:55It is really freaky the way that they do this year so.
- 1:14:58He gets inside and he sees Julie at the top of the stairs.
- 1:15:01She is levitate, levitating, and then is used to knock him down
- 1:15:05the stairs. You know, I'm gonna say it.
- 1:15:07I mean hereditary. Exactly.
- 1:15:10So Christie sees this and Dennis is like trying to comfort her
- 1:15:13and tell her that her mom will be OK and then also they go and
- 1:15:16hide in the closet together and she's freaking out and he's
- 1:15:20trying to like keep her calm and when he thinks the coast is
- 1:15:23clear they're about to run. Except then they see Katie.
- 1:15:29Just kind of hunched over next. To the stairs.
- 1:15:31He's trying to get her. He's trying to get her up and be
- 1:15:35like we'll come back for your mom, but we got to get out right
- 1:15:37now. Like you're you're the number
- 1:15:38one priority and she turns around and she's all creepy face
- 1:15:43and attacks him. You got that Buffy vampire
- 1:15:46makeup. Yeah, yeah, Vampyce.
- 1:15:47Yeah, so Grandma walks in, takes Dennis and does a full blown
- 1:15:54scorpion on. Dennis and.
- 1:15:56Breaks his back. Yeah, it's a yeah.
- 1:15:59She fully wins. Day sees him.
- 1:16:01Yeah. It's.
- 1:16:02Not good. And that's that's.
- 1:16:06That's it. Well, she's dead.
- 1:16:07She then takes Christie and Toby upstairs.
- 1:16:12Yeah, yeah. That's, and I mean, we know, we
- 1:16:15know how their stories end. Yep, we know how that.
- 1:16:18Goes well, actually. We have a little bit more to
- 1:16:19talk about with Katie eventually, but.
- 1:16:21Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
- 1:16:23But either way, interesting. It's a, it's a heck of a new
- 1:16:26thing. Yeah, it's a solid.
- 1:16:27Movie and you know, now that we we talked about it, there really
- 1:16:29actually is a lot happening at all times in this movie.
- 1:16:31Yeah, for sure. I think just the not constantly
- 1:16:34being like night one, night two, I think it lets it all tell a
- 1:16:39more cohesive story that way. Gives us some a different flow.
- 1:16:42Yeah, it gives. A little room to breathe.
- 1:16:44Yeah, I like it. I'm gonna keep it at 9:00.
- 1:16:48Yeah, I think I'll keep mine at 85 still.
- 1:16:50What would you change to bump it up a little?
- 1:16:54I think I would probably give it more legitimate scare moments,
- 1:16:59like we said before, because we get a lot of those fake outs.
- 1:17:02Yeah. And I think you could have taken
- 1:17:04one of those moments and do the tooth fairy thing, you know,
- 1:17:07just like a little shit like that.
- 1:17:08Really good. Yeah.
- 1:17:09I think that that would have been really scary.
- 1:17:11OK, so instead of doing a dream sequel the way we normally do,
- 1:17:14let's imagine the movie we went between this and the first
- 1:17:19Paranormal Activity. So a sequel to the prequel?
- 1:17:24You know what I want? What I want to see Toby doing a
- 1:17:29Recon mission on Mika. Oh.
- 1:17:31Dude, I was thinking that. Too.
- 1:17:33Maybe Mika's actually like a nice, polite teenage boy.
- 1:17:37And then. Toby corrupts.
- 1:17:39Yeah, Toby corrupts, but we see it like over a series of years,
- 1:17:42like And when he becomes a traitor, he gets him into
- 1:17:44cocaine and gets him in fights and.
- 1:17:47Gets him like yeah some. Makes him real jaded and cynic.
- 1:17:51Goes to the bathroom and he's like got some gel like on his
- 1:17:55scene you're. Gonna slick back to your hair
- 1:17:56like a real piece of shit. Yeah, he's slap.
- 1:17:59Up your stakes. And he goes to his bed and
- 1:18:01there's like this, like folded shirt and it's got like the
- 1:18:04collar permanently popped. Anytime he tries to like put it
- 1:18:06down it just pops right. Back Toby just follows him along
- 1:18:08and just pops back up. Fuck man, like I guess I'm just
- 1:18:11looking. So just yeah.
- 1:18:13Piece of shit. Yeah, I want that.
- 1:18:17I want that. I like that too.
- 1:18:20It's like, it's like the it's kind of a redemption arc because
- 1:18:24we see that Mika wasn't always a piece of shit.
- 1:18:27But it makes it more of a tragedy, yeah, because we saw
- 1:18:30what he would have. Been.
- 1:18:31Yeah, it's a reverse redemption arc.
- 1:18:33Yeah, like oh man, see how fucked?
- 1:18:36Up, Toby. Is here he corrupted this, he
- 1:18:38turned him into that. He turned him into a real piece
- 1:18:42of shit, and that baby knows that baby that Katie stole.
- 1:18:46That baby knows people can't change.
- 1:18:48Can't change. Or at least, he thinks people
- 1:18:51can't. Change.
- 1:18:52And you know how those movies kind of intertwined too.
- 1:18:55So what if the little ghost was Mika and Toby was just giving
- 1:19:02them some little protection, making them invisible?
- 1:19:05Maybe, maybe I guess a little bit too physicsy.
- 1:19:11We'll expand the lore in the Mika version.
- 1:19:13The Mika verse. The Mika verse, yeah, we'll,
- 1:19:16we'll expand it a little bit there.
- 1:19:18OK, OK. What did Talia think about this
- 1:19:21movie? I think she was scared because
- 1:19:23she actually got scared and jumped and.
- 1:19:26Yeah, she was playing with her popcorn real hard.
- 1:19:30It's a popcorn toy, for the record.
- 1:19:32Yes, yeah. She she was playing with it real
- 1:19:35hard and then she tried to go to sleep after her big scare, but
- 1:19:38she was all twitchy and stuff and they're sleeping.
- 1:19:40No point, girl. So I think Talia is gonna, she's
- 1:19:43gonna give this. Say 9.
- 1:19:46I think she's gonna give it a 10 because there's there's no
- 1:19:50ambiguity about any dogs. That's true.
- 1:19:53We don't have to worry about that.
- 1:19:54We don't have to ask the rider this time around.
- 1:19:56Yes. No.
- 1:19:58OK. Zoe's ultimate warrior.
- 1:20:02I mean, it's gotta be that little scamp, Toby.
- 1:20:06It's gotta be Toby. But man, yeah, it almost feels
- 1:20:08cheating. But yeah, Toby, I think it's the
- 1:20:10real deal with this one right here.
- 1:20:13It's gotta be Toby. I mean if it's not Toby then
- 1:20:15it's Christie cuz she hides under trampolines and in tiny
- 1:20:19rooms. And that'd be more scouts.
- 1:20:22Very protective about her seats and where people can and can't
- 1:20:25sit even if it's not currently occupied.
- 1:20:29Yeah, I think Toby probably still gets the edge there.
- 1:20:34OK. Yeah, it's Toby.
- 1:20:36It's always a little scamp too. She is.
- 1:20:38Yeah. I'm sure you all heard her.
- 1:20:40She's screaming at us because it's past her food time.
- 1:20:42Yeah. It's past her food time, but
- 1:20:43they had a late breakfast because it's the weekend.
- 1:20:45Yeah, OK. Who did you relate to?
- 1:20:48Who? Did I relate to I'm, you know,
- 1:20:51the happier days? I relate to the girls and Dennis
- 1:20:55and their relationship because I'm from a blended family and I
- 1:21:00very much. I love it when a movie doesn't
- 1:21:03project that as like an obstacle to overcome and that you can
- 1:21:07just have family dynamics without being like all
- 1:21:11biological. Yeah, that is cool.
- 1:21:13I like that. So I guess I really probably did
- 1:21:15Katie because I'm the older sister from my original unit.
- 1:21:22Yeah, that makes sense. I relate to Randy because like
- 1:21:25Randy, I get roped into shit that probably shouldn't be
- 1:21:30letting little kids do because little kids just tell me, hey,
- 1:21:34this is what I can do. This is what happened to me at
- 1:21:37our. Yeah, my.
- 1:21:38My older sister her. Our niece's birthday party.
- 1:21:43Yeah, her younger brother just like was like, I'm thirsty.
- 1:21:47And Travis goes, you want a juice or a water?
- 1:21:50And he goes juice. And me knowing my sister tries
- 1:21:55to limit their juice, I was like, he's he already had one or
- 1:21:58is he good to have one? She goes, no, he's already had
- 1:21:59one. I was like, sorry, bud, you
- 1:22:01can't. And Travis like, oops, my bad.
- 1:22:03And later he walks towards the playground and just kind of
- 1:22:07turns around and Don Corleone. Just grabs my hand.
- 1:22:11Come with me. Yeah, and then he drags me.
- 1:22:14Up to the swings and we're all down in the gazebo, but watching
- 1:22:18this go down and my sister was like, he has never swung on the
- 1:22:23big kids swing before. And so when they get back, we
- 1:22:27asked Travis, hey, what was up with that?
- 1:22:29Because Oh no, he said that he does this all the time.
- 1:22:31Yeah, he, he told me. He's, I said, hey, can you do
- 1:22:34this? And he's like, yeah, I got this.
- 1:22:36He's like, yeah, no, I'm really good.
- 1:22:37I'm. Really good with such
- 1:22:38confidence. Like if you would have told me
- 1:22:40like, so we played Bloody Mary in my house.
- 1:22:43So I would be like, oh cool, all right, let's do it.
- 1:22:45Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, you say so.
- 1:22:48Yeah, I'm, I'm totally in on this.
- 1:22:50You are in charge. Yeah.
- 1:22:52So I relate to Randy. All right, we already got our
- 1:22:58tagline, we already got our SQL, so I guess it's time for
- 1:23:00reviews. OK, so as I said before, a lot
- 1:23:04of people, the main complaint was about the trailer.
- 1:23:07Yeah, but I did find this review and it just, it kind of made me
- 1:23:11laugh, so I wanted to use it. OK, so one out of 10 direct to
- 1:23:18YouTube. Whoa.
- 1:23:19OK, interesting. Since my second job of buying
- 1:23:22lottery tickets isn't paying off, I've decided to make my
- 1:23:25first million by means of a webcam.
- 1:23:27It seems easy enough. Film a boring house with a
- 1:23:30boring family for about 90 minutes.
- 1:23:32Label different scenes as day one through 30.
- 1:23:35Make sure my buddy opens or slams doors and drops items by
- 1:23:38means of cheap fishing wire in the background while I scream.
- 1:23:40I'm like, why was that? Oh my God.
- 1:23:45Thanks Hollywood, you've made my rich dreams come true.
- 1:23:48You've proved you don't need to be a million.
- 1:23:49You don't need millions to make millions.
- 1:23:51I can make a movie like Paranormal Activity Three one
- 1:23:54out of five stars just for the price of a webcam, Maybe even
- 1:23:57less. I guess I could return the
- 1:23:59webcam since the entire movie can be made in less than two
- 1:24:01hours and my buddy can even be an intern.
- 1:24:05OK, I'll be serious. These movies, these choice to
- 1:24:08get through should come with the disclaimer.
- 1:24:10Only if you believe in real life paranormal activities will you
- 1:24:13be frightened. As for saying people, we
- 1:24:15apologize for the inconvenience of the next 90 minutes.
- 1:24:18Oh, come. On but even that statement won't
- 1:24:20hold up much for these movies aren't even trying to make you
- 1:24:23believe they actually happened. So you'll get a fictional movie
- 1:24:26pick one Paranormal Activity 1-2 or three.
- 1:24:28They're all exactly the same movie, and for about 90 minutes
- 1:24:32you'll have roughly one to two minutes of something happening
- 1:24:34or changing in the background. Wow, you devoted fans have a
- 1:24:37shit load more patience than me. Look, yeah, I don't fall under
- 1:24:41the believe in ghost mentality, but truthfully, in a rage when I
- 1:24:44got home, I said Bloody Mary three times in the mirror as
- 1:24:47instructed in the movie, just to end it miserably, I guess
- 1:24:50because I didn't believe enough, because nothing happened to
- 1:24:53finish off my pain. Did you do it in the dark?
- 1:24:56He said he'd followed instructions.
- 1:24:58So yeah, this is a. That is something I don't
- 1:25:03believe in ghosts. Myself, yes.
- 1:25:05And I find moments in these movies to be creepy because it's
- 1:25:09not about believing if it's real or not.
- 1:25:11It's buying into the movie. Yeah.
- 1:25:13So if you like, allow yourself to buy into a movie, you can be
- 1:25:18caught up in it. Yes.
- 1:25:20I don't think I'm going to ever see a little Toby do a little
- 1:25:23ghost sheet scare. But that I thought was really
- 1:25:27unsettling to watch in the movie here.
- 1:25:29Yeah. And I, I appreciate that about
- 1:25:30about you because I know you're not like a person like we're
- 1:25:33very much on different spectrums of what we believe in terms of
- 1:25:37that. And I like that we can enjoy
- 1:25:39these the same. Yeah, I mean, it's all about
- 1:25:41like, I mean, just suspension of belief or disbelief or whatever
- 1:25:45it is. Like it you just kind of like
- 1:25:47just buy into it. It's a movie.
- 1:25:50Like let it be scary for you. And I think, and this is
- 1:25:54something that we talked about with Freaky too, that
- 1:25:56Christopher Landon's pretty good about writing just like people
- 1:25:58just being people. That's true.
- 1:26:00And, and I think that's part of what this movie does so well.
- 1:26:04If you're not here just to have like a jump scare every few
- 1:26:07minutes or be like truly terrified, If you're here to
- 1:26:11enjoy a movie experience beyond that, which I'm not judging you,
- 1:26:15if you want to watch a horror movie and be scared all the way
- 1:26:17through, there's a place for that.
- 1:26:19There are movies for that. This is not that movie, but this
- 1:26:22is a movie that you can live in and enjoy and you do get those
- 1:26:25moments that are scary also. See, I would argue if you had
- 1:26:29nothing but those moments, it would lose its impact.
- 1:26:32I think you need the smaller moments for the bigger moments
- 1:26:36to have that landing, but to land as it does.
- 1:26:40I mean think about if Mika had died like this in the first
- 1:26:44movie, like him dying at the end of the first movie was.
- 1:26:48We got to tell you scratching on the door here.
- 1:26:50OK, it it was shocking because, you know, we've been with him
- 1:26:53the whole time and we had no clue how the movie was going to
- 1:26:55end, right? But it wasn't like an emotional
- 1:26:57gut punch. It was just like, oh, Dang, he
- 1:26:59died. But in this one, I was like
- 1:27:02tennis. We wanted you to get out.
- 1:27:05Like, yeah, it, it's a completely different feeling at
- 1:27:07the end. Yeah, it is.
- 1:27:09So, yeah. So yeah, whatever man.
- 1:27:11If you know, it's fine. If it doesn't, put your boat,
- 1:27:15yeah, but still, whatever. This movie has its place for the
- 1:27:18people that like it, but like I said, if you're expecting
- 1:27:21something that's going to be a different caliber of scary, then
- 1:27:26it all depends on what you believe in and what you want in
- 1:27:29a story and. You don't You don't have to
- 1:27:31believe in actual paranormal shit for it to be a good movie
- 1:27:36too. Yeah, I think, Oh my God, what
- 1:27:38are they doing out there? They're.
- 1:27:39Fighting. Yeah, chill out, you guys.
- 1:27:42OK, let's do some listener reviews then.
- 1:27:45All right, we'll start off over on Instagram.
- 1:27:48First off, we have Marnie, who says best of the Paranormal
- 1:27:53Activity franchise. I think that's a sentiment I
- 1:27:56feel like a lot of people have that this is the top one of the
- 1:27:59yes, the whole franchise. Next up, we have Michael E
- 1:28:04Howard, who says I recently did a rewatch of all the Paranormal
- 1:28:08Activity movies. 3 is my second favorite.
- 1:28:11The scares were top notch. The setting with the young girls
- 1:28:13had the perfect tone. It was nice to get some of the
- 1:28:16back story for the first two films. 8 out of 10.
- 1:28:19All right, all right, so pretty much align with what we were
- 1:28:23saying before, too. Yeah, so nice.
- 1:28:26Over on Twitter we have Seraquili boobs.
- 1:28:30Who says origin story time? I like how they went back in
- 1:28:33time for the third installment. This one was great.
- 1:28:36The franchise kind of fell off for me after the original three.
- 1:28:39Only one I liked after this one was the marked ones.
- 1:28:43I've only seen that one one time.
- 1:28:45Yeah, me too. So it'll be interesting to
- 1:28:47revisit it like as we're going through these in more detail.
- 1:28:50I can't. I think I remember enjoying that
- 1:28:52one too. When we saw that, we saw that
- 1:28:54one in theaters. I remember too.
- 1:28:56That one. Had both.
- 1:28:57Most of these we did, but. That one got very metaphysical,
- 1:29:01kind of like what you're talking about with your your Mika.
- 1:29:04Yeah, prequel corruption story. And maybe he's like, that's when
- 1:29:08they go into the Mika verse. Yeah.
- 1:29:10Yeah. All right.
- 1:29:12Next up, we have Tyler, who says the best of the series to me
- 1:29:16personally, because it probably scares me the most.
- 1:29:18The rotating camera bits are genius.
- 1:29:20And between the kitchen scene and the garage scene, I think
- 1:29:23this one is so successful and it's scarce.
- 1:29:26Yeah, those are the highlight moments for me, too.
- 1:29:28The like the rotating camera was a great addition.
- 1:29:31It was so smart. It stands out and it always
- 1:29:33blows my mind that it doesn't happen right away.
- 1:29:36Yeah, and I'm always waiting for.
- 1:29:38I'm like, where's the fucking fan?
- 1:29:40Because it's so good. It is.
- 1:29:42And that ending where they just see the like the whole group of
- 1:29:47the colt just in there in the back, just doing the shit,
- 1:29:50that's fucking terrifying. Can you imagine just rolling in
- 1:29:52on that? I like to imagine that's when
- 1:29:54Ari Astor started writing his movies.
- 1:29:56He's like, we are going to have groups of women, sometimes men,
- 1:30:00always naked, just. You know.
- 1:30:02Slowly walking at a person. What if this was the source of
- 1:30:06Ari Astor's trauma? This movie right here.
- 1:30:10This ending is like I will never be the same.
- 1:30:15OK, final review is from Ward Zombie, who says one of the
- 1:30:19better of the series would have made a great end to the series
- 1:30:23or to get scares and a nicer pacing than the first one.
- 1:30:25Holy shit. Pretty much perfect for what we
- 1:30:28were saying to yeah, I agree. This is probably it's tough.
- 1:30:32I like this one. I like the first one a lot.
- 1:30:35I like the 2nd and the third one are very close for me. 2nd is
- 1:30:38really good too. Yeah.
- 1:30:40First though, it's just hard to beat because I feel like that
- 1:30:45one has a lot more nothing, but I feel like they have a lot more
- 1:30:48like impactful moments. It does.
- 1:30:50Like as much as I hate Mika and every time he's on scream I
- 1:30:55want. Every time he's on screen I want
- 1:30:57to scream. But he's awesome.
- 1:30:59Because of that, yeah, Like he gave us so many iconic moments,
- 1:31:03like, of why establishing some of the lore of, you know, how
- 1:31:08fear makes such a big difference, and he's not helping
- 1:31:11her fear at all. And like he is the original girl
- 1:31:14robust gatekeep gaslight of the franchise.
- 1:31:18It's just. It's good, but yeah, this is.
- 1:31:20A real solid trilogy. Yeah, it really is.
- 1:31:23Yeah. OK, Which according to Travis,
- 1:31:25you can refer to anything as the original trilogy.
- 1:31:28And of course, I wouldn't immediately think of Star Wars.
- 1:31:33What were we talking about before this?
- 1:31:35I said how I used to have the original trilogy in a box set
- 1:31:39and you said, oh, Batman, I don't know what.
- 1:31:42Well, there are original trilogies of Batman and we were
- 1:31:45talking about that. To be original trilogy, it's
- 1:31:50always Star Wars. Do you know how many Batman
- 1:31:53trilogies there are? There is an original trilogy out
- 1:31:56there. All right, let's cut this shit.
- 1:32:01All right, so. Next movie.
- 1:32:04Next. Week is child's play, too.
- 1:32:07Yeah, we get more Chucky. Yeah, let's see if it's
- 1:32:10streaming anywhere. We own this shit, so that's how
- 1:32:13we're going to watch it. But if you're not lucky like us,
- 1:32:17you can currently watch Child's Play too for free on Tubi, or
- 1:32:22you can rent it from Prime, YouTube, Google Play, or
- 1:32:25Fandango at home. Formally Voodoo.
- 1:32:27Yeah, I'm going to recommend the to Be option because it's free.
- 1:32:30Because it's free, yeah, but if you.
- 1:32:33Don't want to do that You. Don't want to do that?
- 1:32:35Whatever your prerogative is, that's fine.
- 1:32:37Yeah, so more power to you. So all right, be prepared.
- 1:32:40Watch that one in advance. Yep.
- 1:32:43And. And I did follow up and do some
- 1:32:46research on Dumbala. Oh, you did so good.
- 1:32:49So we'll we'll have some of that.
- 1:32:51Good. All right.
- 1:32:52OK, so the girls are wrapping us up out here.
