Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: So, friend, here's what I want you to take away with today.
- 0:05Speaker 1: You're not empty.
- 0:06Speaker 1: God has already placed oil in your house.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Your story, your skills, your testimony, even your pain, your misery, may become your destiny and, just like the widow in 2 Kings 4, where you begin to pour it out, god multiplies.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Hey friend, welcome back to the Stuck no More Voices podcast.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm Teresa Croft, and this is the place where Christian women, especially Christian business women, learn how to go from voiceless to victorious.
- 0:38Speaker 1: If you've ever felt that tug to grow your kingdom impact, maybe through creating a Christian podcast for your business, maybe by learning the simple steps to faith podcasting, or maybe just by finding your God-given voice in everyday life, this episode is for you.
- 0:56Speaker 1: It's about overflow.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It's about speaking from identity, not striving.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Maybe you've asked yourself does my story really matter?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Could I actually use a podcast to share my faith and build my business?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Friend, I want you to know you're not behind, you're not overlooked and you're not too late.
- 1:16Speaker 1: So today we're diving into a powerful story in 2 Kings 4, verses 1 through 7.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It's a story that has impacted me greatly over the years.
- 1:26Speaker 1: It's about a widow who was broke, afraid and desperate, ready for an answer to her need and ready for an encounter with God, and it became the backdrop of overflow that began for me after leaving my career in radio.
- 1:42Speaker 1: So grab your coffee, lean in and let's discover what this is all about.
- 1:47Speaker 1: You know, I love how scripture, by the way, isn't just history, it's a mirror and when I first leaned into this passage, it reflected my journey back.
- 1:57Speaker 1: To me, what I'd walked through became the backdrop to really understanding this truth.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So let me share a piece of my life with you, the backdrop.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I remember that season vividly.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I had just retired from radio, the career that shaped my public voice, my identity and my confidence.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Suddenly I was just a mom at home, with open days tending to my kids and helping my husband's business, but I still had this aching desire to work to contribute financially again.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I miss the radio days where I got a check.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We owned a beautiful house my husband built at the time.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And then came one of the most traumatic moments, one of the top three I've ever walked through Someone tried to burn our house to the ground.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Let me give you the backdrop on that.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'll never forget how the fear of coming back from a vacation the kids and I got there first.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Dave had taken a wrong turn on his motorcycle and I remember on the way driving up to the house I had this uneasiness and I looked over at my daughter and I said and she had it too.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So I thought, well, we need to pray your dad gets here safely, because we didn't know what else it was.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So we got to the house, I backed it up and yelled at my kids you got to help me unpack this.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I went in to turn the alarm off.
- 3:16Speaker 1: The alarm was already off and there was this musty, dark feeling in there.
- 3:22Speaker 1: As I was walking down the hall and as I turned the corner I heard my daughter shriek mom, the couch is on fire.
- 3:31Speaker 1: But it wasn't literally on fire.
- 3:33Speaker 1: She no sooner said that and I looked down.
- 3:36Speaker 1: We had hardwood floor and I looked at the door to the basement and the door to the basement, the hardwoods was burnt.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I I'd seen that movie what is it something about the draft?
- 3:47Speaker 1: And I knew not to open the door and I ran out the house yelling to my kids to get out.
- 3:54Speaker 1: The house is on fire.
- 3:55Speaker 1: As I called 911.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Pretty traumatic.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Lots of stories that come from that.
- 4:02Speaker 1: But for the context here, this left us in a rented home while the fire was being investigated.
- 4:08Speaker 1: So in this setting, I so wanted to help my family financially.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I so wanted to be about my purpose.
- 4:15Speaker 1: But for weeks afterwards, in that rented house, god was meeting me in the early morning hours in a real deep way.
- 4:23Speaker 1: As I poured my heart out to him, I'd spend time praying before I had to wake my kids up and get them to school.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I was just pleading God.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I want to be of use, I want to help.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I just need you to show me how.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And I came upon 2 Kings 4, verse 1 through 7.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And I want to do even just a little back from that.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I was struck by how Jesus would look at the blind man and he'd ask the question what can I do for you?
- 4:53Speaker 1: So I had just been reading that scripture, feeling like God was saying what can I do for you?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Let me read this.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Second Kings four, verses one through seven.
- 5:03Speaker 1: A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying your servant, my husband, is dead and you know that your servant feared the Lord and the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So Elisha said to her what shall I do for you?
- 5:21Speaker 1: Tell me, what do you have in the house?
- 5:24Speaker 1: And she said your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Then he said go borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors, empty vessels, do not gather just a few, and when you have come in you shall shut the door behind you and your sons then pour it out into all those vessels and set aside the full ones.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons who brought the vessels to her, and she poured it out.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her sons bring me another vessel.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And he said to her there's not another vessel.
- 6:03Speaker 1: So the oil ceased.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Then she came and told the man of God and he said go sell the oil and pay your debt and you and your sons live on the rest.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Maybe you're right there right now.
- 6:16Speaker 1: You've hit the end of your resources.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You want to contribute, you want to make impact.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Maybe you start that podcast for your Christian business, but you feel empty.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Podcast for your Christian business, but you feel empty.
- 6:30Speaker 1: That's exactly where this widow was in 2 Kings 4.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Let's unpack that story piece by piece, because each part is a seed of hope for you, especially when finances seem impossible.
- 6:39Speaker 1: The first thing you got to realize is you got to ask the right person.
- 6:44Speaker 1: The widow didn't run to her friends or the town elders.
- 6:47Speaker 1: She went to the man of God, elisha.
- 6:49Speaker 1: History reports that her husband once served Elisha, so she knew he was a trusted voice.
- 6:55Speaker 1: She sought the right voice, the right perspective In your moment of need.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Do you have someone who hears from God, who can speak his perspective over your situation?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Asking the right person, or even a group of people of like mind, it is crucial.
- 7:12Speaker 1: The voices you allow in can either stir up faith or feed your fear.
- 7:16Speaker 1: So choose wisely who you let speak into your journey.
- 7:21Speaker 1: What do you have already?
- 7:22Speaker 1: This one wrecked me.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Elisha asked what's in your house.
- 7:25Speaker 1: She didn't have much but a jar of oil.
- 7:27Speaker 1: So when God asked me that what's in your house, she didn't have much but a jar of oil.
- 7:30Speaker 1: So when god asked me that what's in your house, it's like, oh god, I have a computer.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I love macbook pro.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I have a camera before iphones had cameras and I just feel like I'd say that's it.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So I went to work same thing with the widow.
- 7:42Speaker 1: All she had was that jar and it was the beginning of her miracle.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And she obeyed with that jar.
- 7:53Speaker 1: So I was thinking what do I have in my house?
- 7:57Speaker 1: I've got that computer.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Before then I had started a website.
- 8:01Speaker 1: So I was going what I had in the house.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I started learning affiliate marketing.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I mean, one minute I'm preaching the word of God on YouTube and the next minute I'm selling golf clubs.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Just my heart.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Maybe you need to gather the vessels in your life People, tools, ideas and then shut the door on fear, comparison and discouragement.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Stop the scroll.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Oftentimes you're seeing someone 20 years ahead of you who've gone through the trial and they're at this point.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Don't compare, so no comparison.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Shut the door and then pour out and watch the overflow.
- 8:38Speaker 1: She didn't withhold the oil.
- 8:40Speaker 1: She poured it out into every jar, one by one.
- 8:43Speaker 1: She didn't withhold the oil.
- 8:44Speaker 1: She didn't think this is all I've got, scarcity mindset, this is all I got to survive, survival mindset.
- 8:49Speaker 1: No, she obeyed and she poured it out.
- 8:52Speaker 1: She went and got the vessels.
- 8:56Speaker 1: What was the result?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Enough to pay the creditors and still have enough left for her family to live on.
- 9:03Speaker 1: That's where my heart anchored on to be obedient.
- 9:07Speaker 1: My heart went.
- 9:08Speaker 1: She paid her debtors and lived off the rest.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Can I share with you that obedience activates miracles.
- 9:18Speaker 1: God just doesn't cover us.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He makes a way for abundance.
- 9:23Speaker 1: When you obey, you're not striving for provision, you're stepping into your identity and in that place God always provides more than enough.
- 9:33Speaker 1: See episode 284, where I talk about kingdom finances.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Great, great one to go with this one.
- 9:40Speaker 1: So let me give you three keys for Christian businesswomen who feel like they're at the end of their barrel.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Friends, I know how exhausting it is when it feels like resources have run dry.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I have been there and that's why this story is not just ancient, it's practical.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Here are three keys I want you to take with you today.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Get a pen and write these down.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Start with what's in your house, friend.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Number one start with what's in your house.
- 10:05Speaker 1: You're not empty.
- 10:07Speaker 1: You have talents, ideas, relationships, a testimony.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Invite God to show you what's already in your hands.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Number two close the door and begin to pour.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Protect your focus.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Shut out the naysayers.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Take small steps of faith where you are, even before you feel ready.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Imperfect action is better than no action.
- 10:32Speaker 1: You might want to write that one down Imperfect action is better than no action.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And then three trust God for the overflow, not just survival.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Our Father specializes in more than enough miracles.
- 10:46Speaker 1: He doesn't just help us survive.
- 10:50Speaker 1: He gave the woman in the story more than enough.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Expect nothing less.
- 10:55Speaker 1: In your life, overflow happens as you stay intimate with God, in your relationship with him.
- 11:01Speaker 1: It's one huge key behind the Stuck no More Voices Academy, where I teach Christian businesswomen how to release their voice in a podcast from their identity, from the overflow of their relationship with God.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Their identity from the overflow of their relationship with God.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So, friend, here's what I want you to take away with today.
- 11:24Speaker 1: You're not empty.
- 11:25Speaker 1: God has already placed oil in your house.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Your story, your skills, your testimony, even your pain, your misery, may become your destiny and, just like the widow in 2 Kings 4, where you begin to pour it out, god multiplies it.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Maybe for you, that looks like finally sharing your voice in a bigger way through creating a Christian podcast.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Maybe it's using your podcast as a tool for your Christian business, like it's a marketing tool and you put it in your tool belt.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Or maybe it's simply taking those first simple steps to faith, podcasting, sharing your story, holy Spirit podcasting.
- 12:03Speaker 1: So if your heart is stirring and you know it's time to stop holding back your story, I want to invite you into the Stack no More Voices Academy.
- 12:10Speaker 1: On the show notes you'll get a link.
- 12:12Speaker 1: It's one of the reasons I started the Stack no More Voices Academy and the show notes should get a link.
- 12:16Speaker 1: It's one of the reasons I started the Stack no More Voices Academy is to help Christian businessmen take what's already in their house their story, their testimony, their scales and turn it into a podcast that multiplies impact, because your voice is oil waiting to be poured out.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So if today, you realize I do have something in my house Do you know Bethel means house of God, by the way?
- 12:38Speaker 1: You have something in your house, but you're not sure how to start pouring it out.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Today you realized I do have something in my house Bethel, by the way, means house of God but you're not sure where to pour it out.
- 12:51Speaker 1: That's one main thing that I love to teach in the Stuck no More Voices Academy God's already placed something in your house and someone is waiting on the other side of your voice for your extra to what you think is ordinary or extraordinary solution to their pain.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Until next time, keep trusting, keep building and keep speaking, because heaven is backing your voice.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You've been listening to the Stuck no More Voices podcast.
- 13:20Speaker 1: If today's episode encouraged you, would you take a moment to share it with a friend or leave a review?
- 13:26Speaker 1: It means so much and it helps more women find their voice.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Until then, keep trusting, keep building and keep speaking, and I'll talk to you in the next episode of the Stuck no More Voices podcast.
