- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, dribblers, sorry about this. The audio in this episode
- 0:03Speaker 1: is not amazing mouthsader cable, dog ate my homework, don't
- 0:07Speaker 1: know tech issues. It's still very listenable and enjoyable, but
- 0:10Speaker 1: you'll hear the odd hiccup and apologies for that. Hope
- 0:13Speaker 1: you still enjoy it.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Bae, Well, Gordi and Cat were very clear when they
- 0:26Speaker 2: said you need a tan to wear the diamonds dress,
- 0:28Speaker 2: and our Ossie girls have listened, leaning right into the
- 0:32Speaker 2: bronzed Aussie ideal coming home with the jewelry, and.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I sincerely hope a lot more happy memories than otherwise.
- 0:39Speaker 1: For netball fans, we can rejoice about the state of
- 0:41Speaker 1: international netball.
- 0:43Speaker 3: After an absolute blinder of a tournament.
- 0:45Speaker 4: You're on no dribble strapping, Hello and welcome.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I doable the podcasts where we talk about network, but
- 1:02Speaker 3: we talk about so much more. Hi, do I need
- 1:05Speaker 3: if I headphones? You don't need your headphones else? Like,
- 1:07Speaker 3: what are you not at Earth? Now?
- 1:09Speaker 5: We're listening to you through that. I thought you just
- 1:13Speaker 5: had your headphones on Catherine for like to hide your
- 1:16Speaker 5: bad hair, but your hair's fine now.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I would like a hat to I'm Carolyn Findell had cocks.
- 1:21Speaker 5: I'm Lizzellas and I am wearing a hat because I've
- 1:24Speaker 5: been out fencing all morning with my husband. And if
- 1:26Speaker 5: you're watching this on YouTube, us say I have blood
- 1:29Speaker 5: and stuff everywhere and I haven't bother cleaning myself up
- 1:32Speaker 5: because we've still got a couple of hours ago. And
- 1:34Speaker 5: me and Barbeire are not friends. Yeah, no, no, thank you.
- 1:39Speaker 5: You need to wear some longer shirts. Yeah, I know,
- 1:42Speaker 5: and I didn't. I had gloves on, but I didn't
- 1:44Speaker 5: have a long shirt on. And Matthew, he's got a
- 1:46Speaker 5: long shirt on, and clearly he just wants me to
- 1:48Speaker 5: be hurt.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yeah, fair enough, that's not pody nice in the meat tray.
- 1:52Speaker 5: No, look, the meat train and I've been We're just
- 1:54Speaker 5: talking about the fact that we've been together for four
- 1:56Speaker 5: hundred years, so he just forgets to protect me. Anyway, Catherine,
- 1:59Speaker 5: as you were saying, hey, your name came up this morning,
- 2:02Speaker 5: you love this story.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I stopped at my local to get a coffee and
- 2:05Speaker 3: I was chatting with one of the regulars there and
- 2:07Speaker 3: she said, I was listening to the radio this morning
- 2:10Speaker 3: and Hamish McDonald was talking about the netball and he
- 2:13Speaker 3: actually finished by saying I wonder what Lizzellas thinks of
- 2:17Speaker 3: all of this. And I said to my friend at
- 2:19Speaker 3: the cafe the other regular, Oh, I can tell you
- 2:22Speaker 3: because when I finished the semi final game against Jamaica,
- 2:25Speaker 3: I picked my phone up and there's a message from
- 2:27Speaker 3: Lizzella's that said, fucking he fuck funck fuck the group.
- 2:31Speaker 1: That was a little bit sweary, wasn't it.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Bye.
- 2:35Speaker 5: I know, I know I'm not a very good loser.
- 2:38Speaker 5: It was a brilliant game and we're going to talk
- 2:41Speaker 5: about it later. But my hearty saw that. It makes
- 2:44Speaker 5: me swear.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yes, there's a lot of Australian netball fans who are
- 2:49Speaker 1: not good losers. We're not good at it. We need
- 2:52Speaker 1: to get better. We need to stop being big babies
- 2:55Speaker 1: and go, my god, what an amazing game of netball.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And this is exciting.
- 3:00Speaker 3: It was so exciting. It was the best possible result.
- 3:04Speaker 3: If you think international netball and you think about the
- 3:07Speaker 3: fact that we're hosting a World Cup next year, imagine
- 3:10Speaker 3: the excitement around it. It's got to be unreal. And
- 3:13Speaker 3: you know, the Aussies all was fond. There is an
- 3:15Speaker 3: enormous amount to take at it. On most games that
- 3:18Speaker 3: is very, very exciting. And I know Liz and cath
- 3:23Speaker 3: you're closer to it the most, but far out, no
- 3:25Speaker 3: one's closer to it than those women who took the
- 3:28Speaker 3: court and the coaching squad. And it's like, what you think,
- 3:31Speaker 3: they don't know that things could have gone also, so
- 3:34Speaker 3: it's amazing to look at the commentary and go, oh,
- 3:36Speaker 3: here's what should have happened. It's like, all right, Worldlide
- 3:39Speaker 3: for the job.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Then look, as you're watching it, you can say it's
- 3:47Speaker 5: I think it's so much easier to see when your
- 3:50Speaker 5: opinion isn't going to be the difference in tweening to
- 3:54Speaker 5: go into silver medal. Right, when you're sitting on the
- 3:56Speaker 5: sideline or when you're in the team, that's when the
- 3:59Speaker 5: decision really count. And that's why we have people who
- 4:01Speaker 5: are trained to make these decisions so and.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Have outstanding and lost records.
- 4:07Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know, it's interesting, like I sort of
- 4:09Speaker 5: was looking at some of the comments and you know, Carol,
- 4:12Speaker 5: and I really like you know, your sort of monitoring
- 4:15Speaker 5: of our Facebook page, just encouraging everyone to be kind
- 4:18Speaker 5: because like there are families, like some of the players
- 4:21Speaker 5: and coaching staff, their families are on our Facebook page
- 4:24Speaker 5: and you sort of don't want them to read stuff.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Like my mum used to often say to me, or
- 4:29Speaker 5: did you see some of the comments? I was like, Mum,
- 4:30Speaker 5: don't read the comments. Just don't read them, right, So
- 4:33Speaker 5: that's really hard. But I do love that there is
- 4:35Speaker 5: a passion for the sport and for the diamonds, right,
- 4:38Speaker 5: because I recall a time when there wasn't a massive
- 4:41Speaker 5: fan base and people didn't and didn't have opinions. So like,
- 4:45Speaker 5: it's such a balance, right, you want people to have passionate,
- 4:48Speaker 5: strongly held views even if they disagree with you, because
- 4:52Speaker 5: I think that's great for the sport. It is just
- 4:54Speaker 5: about being respectful. But anyhow, we can talk about all
- 4:57Speaker 5: of that a little bit late.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And also, can everyone look at my jump hut because
- 5:00Speaker 3: of course, and I have it talked about this in
- 5:02Speaker 3: the past that as a because I.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Was born in New Zealand and I'm still a New
- 5:06Speaker 1: Zealand passport holder and citizen, I'm allowed to wear this.
- 5:08Speaker 1: This is my ANZAC fifteen. It's a rugby shirt from
- 5:11Speaker 1: I don't know the pre professional days anyway, but it
- 5:14Speaker 1: is was an Australian and New Zealand team. So, and Catherine,
- 5:18Speaker 1: you seem to be wearing a shirt that is black. Yeah,
- 5:21Speaker 1: when I wore you in this morning, she goes, oh,
- 5:23Speaker 1: that's very New Zealand.
- 5:24Speaker 3: And I'm like, I'm actually in morning.
- 5:28Speaker 5: The truth good jol.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I did hear Gordy on the socials saying to Cat
- 5:32Speaker 1: tur Vibe that she said, I think my grandparents were
- 5:35Speaker 1: from New Zealand.
- 5:36Speaker 3: So I wonder if she's making any sense at the moment. Gordy, Well,
- 5:40Speaker 3: we know for a fact, let's out. I don't know
- 5:42Speaker 3: why you're buzzard footing around it. We just had swoop
- 5:44Speaker 3: boarding on a video quill. It is four o'clock in
- 5:47Speaker 3: the morning in Glasgow. Yeah, she's just got hot. She's
- 5:51Speaker 3: stuck aloud.
- 5:51Speaker 5: That out of the day as it she she has
- 5:53Speaker 5: been out showing.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I don't think I ever heard her. Let's just say
- 5:58Speaker 3: that's slurry before.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Oh, Catherine, I was going to say, I've not heard
- 6:02Speaker 5: of that. Tired and emotional, I was going to at
- 6:04Speaker 5: least give reach.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I'm like, oh God, if only we could have feeled that,
- 6:08Speaker 3: we would have shared it with your dribblers. But anyway,
- 6:10Speaker 3: can I tell you something joyful I did on the weekend.
- 6:13Speaker 3: It wasn't just it wasn't just all netball for me.
- 6:17Speaker 1: On yesterday afternoon, and I've been meaning to do this
- 6:19Speaker 1: for like four months, I went to a ukulele circle.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Yeah yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I took my ukulele over to Marrickville and sat in
- 6:30Speaker 1: a room full of complete strangers and we played the
- 6:34Speaker 1: ukulele for two hours and sang an ate cake and
- 6:39Speaker 1: it was so fun.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Just from I think, you can't shock me anymore and
- 6:44Speaker 3: I cannot get any nerdier. So A, you've got a ukulele. Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 3: I need to know the background of that.
- 6:50Speaker 5: First.
- 6:50Speaker 3: I bought that in Hawaii.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So I was on a girl's trip and then we
- 6:54Speaker 1: walked past the ukulele store and we all got ukuleles,
- 6:58Speaker 1: same group of women. Once we were in a way
- 7:00Speaker 1: and we went into Tiffany and said, we don't leave
- 7:02Speaker 1: till everyone's bought something so cool.
- 7:04Speaker 3: That's spum more civilized than the ukulele. But did you
- 7:07Speaker 3: have you had lessons? Are you self taught? I'm self taught.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I play a bit of guitar, so the ukulele is
- 7:13Speaker 1: not that huge a transition point, but it was just
- 7:16Speaker 1: it was it's not a complex instrument to get a
- 7:19Speaker 1: level of competency at and I had one of the
- 7:23Speaker 1: lowest levels of competency in the room, but was able
- 7:27Speaker 1: to play along. We had this songbook. We were all
- 7:31Speaker 1: taking turns choosing songs. Did it once or twice and
- 7:34Speaker 1: then we'd move on. But like we did Miley Cyrus's Flowers,
- 7:37Speaker 1: we did radio Heads Creep and then a bit bit
- 7:40Speaker 1: of amazing grace, bit of falling softly to Glen Hansard
- 7:44Speaker 1: song after his untimely and very sad death last week.
- 7:47Speaker 1: But it was just it was so delightful.
- 7:50Speaker 3: God loved the Internet when the little ukulele nerds confined
- 7:55Speaker 3: together other yeah, yeah and make circle and half cake
- 7:58Speaker 3: like everything.
- 7:59Speaker 1: No, within this group of ukulele enthusiasts, there's some people
- 8:04Speaker 1: who just always take it too far, aren't they? And
- 8:06Speaker 1: you just go, oh, my god, you should start watching
- 8:09Speaker 1: netball better life. Like you know, there's winsnographic with white women,
- 8:15Speaker 1: middle oads.
- 8:16Speaker 3: White Oh what thought? More men?
- 8:19Speaker 1: No, No, they were telling me. So all of these
- 8:21Speaker 1: people got lots of different ukulele things, and apparently there
- 8:25Speaker 1: are ukulele ones run by the men and they play
- 8:28Speaker 1: almost exclusively Bob Dylan songs.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Oh my God, are you going to go back? Yeah
- 8:34Speaker 3: the day and buy your back? Oh, that's not performed.
- 8:37Speaker 3: They did not in buttany It hadn't occurred to me
- 8:40Speaker 3: that I might not be allowed.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Is Somewhere over the Rainbow? Is not a really famous
- 8:45Speaker 5: ukulele sort of version, Like was that in Your In
- 8:48Speaker 5: Your in Your repertoire?
- 8:51Speaker 3: No, No, we were more strumming rather than doing the
- 8:55Speaker 3: the finger picking. My phone's just rung. Is that I'm
- 8:59Speaker 3: buying around?
- 9:00Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 9:00Speaker 3: Yeah, wishing ukulele? Is that it over there? In that
- 9:02Speaker 3: little smoking that's it over there? Won't be getting it out.
- 9:04Speaker 3: It's not tuned, Catherine, Well, neither are we. It's not.
- 9:10Speaker 3: But that was on the back of last Thursday night,
- 9:13Speaker 3: I went to a fundraiser at a pub down the
- 9:16Speaker 3: road here and we had a pub sing and like
- 9:19Speaker 3: there's sort of one hundred and fifty people in the room, men, women.
- 9:22Speaker 3: We were saying we were taught to sing Run to Paradise,
- 9:25Speaker 3: the choirboys song in parts, and there was a bar
- 9:29Speaker 3: and that was heaps of fun and we just sang
- 9:31Speaker 3: it at the end and it sounded great.
- 9:33Speaker 1: And then the next day I was seeing stuff on
- 9:35Speaker 1: social media, it's like, oh, it sounded terrible actually, but
- 9:38Speaker 1: he was really fun.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I've heard about those things and people love it. You're
- 9:41Speaker 3: quite the little joiner.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It's been a big week for music. Why did you
- 9:46Speaker 1: say it like it's a bad thing. No, I just
- 9:49Speaker 1: know I'm actually in a little admiration. I would never
- 9:52Speaker 1: do that. See, I think it's fun. It was run
- 9:56Speaker 1: it's a community thing. It's run by the woman who's
- 9:58Speaker 1: the music teacher at the primary school. My kids went
- 10:01Speaker 1: to fabulous woman Harleyjenny and Ireland and it was you know,
- 10:04Speaker 1: so I knew a lot of people going. But the
- 10:07Speaker 1: ukulele one I arrived and I was almost like turn around,
- 10:12Speaker 1: drive home, don't do it, don't do it. So I
- 10:14Speaker 1: was nervous, but it went really well. Everyone was really
- 10:17Speaker 1: and there was cake. Did I mention the cake is
- 10:19Speaker 1: always good? I didn't have to take the cake. But
- 10:23Speaker 1: we then did go and drop over and see some
- 10:24Speaker 1: friends for a drink afterwards, because we derived it there
- 10:27Speaker 1: house twenty four hours early for the social occasion that
- 10:30Speaker 1: they had invited us to. So clearly, these late nights
- 10:34Speaker 1: of watching netball are not doing me any good. Wow,
- 10:38Speaker 1: So should we have a little break and come back
- 10:40Speaker 1: and actually talk about the netball.
- 10:41Speaker 6: Yeah sure, okay, well, I mean we've flagged it.
- 10:57Speaker 1: It was big. It was a big weekend. Congratulation to
- 11:00Speaker 1: the Silver Ferns, what a great win. Congratulations to the
- 11:03Speaker 1: Sunshine girls for what is an extraordinary tim and congratulations
- 11:08Speaker 1: to the dimer Is. You know, this is a Copper
- 11:11Speaker 1: belf Games medal and we should be enormously proud at
- 11:15Speaker 1: the nettle that they played.
- 11:16Speaker 3: What I love is that they just plugged up the
- 11:18Speaker 3: one gap that they had in their collection gold and silver.
- 11:24Speaker 3: What they were aiming for was the bronze for the
- 11:26Speaker 3: you know, for the set. So well done ladies. But
- 11:30Speaker 3: like I said at at the start, what an incredible
- 11:34Speaker 3: game of netball. There was so much interest around it.
- 11:38Speaker 3: The numbers watching it were huge. The Royals were in
- 11:40Speaker 3: the house the game, I mean, sitting just behind cat Teedley.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Thanks very much. Do you know what's funny? So in
- 11:47Speaker 3: my year I get a producer coming in saying we're
- 11:50Speaker 3: going to flush to the Royals in a minute, so mate,
- 11:53Speaker 3: mention it all right. So apparently the camera goes there,
- 11:56Speaker 3: I don't notice the Royals and they came back, said,
- 11:59Speaker 3: did you see the Royals? I didn't see the walls,
- 12:01Speaker 3: but because of Cat Tentley, I saw Cap Deadley. So
- 12:05Speaker 3: Camp Tentley is the coach of the Scottish Thistles who
- 12:08Speaker 3: had their best ever finish at the Commonwealth Games. And
- 12:11Speaker 3: of course she was general manager.
- 12:12Speaker 1: At the Swifts before going over to take up this
- 12:15Speaker 1: professional coaching job. So what an amazing career trajectory.
- 12:21Speaker 5: So the actual semi final itself between the Diamonds and Jamaica,
- 12:27Speaker 5: I have never seen such a patient, well drilled Jamaican
- 12:35Speaker 5: mid court. And you know, the lots is made of
- 12:39Speaker 5: the superstars at either end of the court. You know
- 12:41Speaker 5: Ramelda Aiken who wasn't even going to play, Like what
- 12:45Speaker 5: a story that is, and then at the other end
- 12:47Speaker 5: there's Shimira Sterling, Humphreys and Latania Wilson and you go,
- 12:51Speaker 5: oh my god, they're the superstars. Can the center court holder?
- 12:56Speaker 5: But I watched that game and went the mid court
- 12:58Speaker 5: were the stars of the show so controlled, they were
- 13:02Speaker 5: so able to change the tempo, They were just so dominant.
- 13:07Speaker 5: It surprised me and Catherine, you had obviously called a
- 13:11Speaker 5: lot of the games. Did that surprise you did? You
- 13:14Speaker 5: see that coming.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Well, that has always been Jamaica's issue is they didn't
- 13:18Speaker 3: have They had a good mid court, but it wasn't
- 13:22Speaker 3: up to fitness standards to keep up with the Diamonds.
- 13:25Speaker 3: It was always that connection that broke down. But Grierson,
- 13:28Speaker 3: for instance, has come through the UK pathways, so they
- 13:32Speaker 3: were very smart and to go and find her or
- 13:34Speaker 3: she was wanting to come back and play for a country.
- 13:36Speaker 3: I'm not entirely sure how that connection came up, but
- 13:39Speaker 3: what a pickup. Plumber both super fit in the mid court,
- 13:43Speaker 3: and that made the world a difference. Liz, you are
- 13:44Speaker 3: so right, because we know they win ball back, but
- 13:47Speaker 3: it's about them getting it down to the shooting circle,
- 13:49Speaker 3: which is what's always been their issues. So that was
- 13:53Speaker 3: put to bed. They were phenomenal. I was concerned straight
- 13:56Speaker 3: after the game though, if they had enough in the
- 13:58Speaker 3: tank to do it again, because not only just to
- 14:01Speaker 3: get across the line against the Diamonds, the celebrations, yeah,
- 14:05Speaker 3: we're huge. Well that wonderful they should be.
- 14:10Speaker 5: Yeah, So at the end of the game, my stress
- 14:12Speaker 5: levels were very high obviously, and you know that last
- 14:16Speaker 5: thirty seconds. I just I don't know. I always feel
- 14:19Speaker 5: like the Diamonds can win from anywhere. So even when
- 14:21Speaker 5: they were five down that last quarter, I was like, oh,
- 14:23Speaker 5: it'll be fine, We'll get the turnovers. And then when
- 14:26Speaker 5: Cara cone and got her hands on the ball and
- 14:28Speaker 5: that last little bit, I thought, this is it. We'll
- 14:31Speaker 5: still run it through. So it didn't quite happen that way.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Like I was, I couldn't enjoy the win for Jamaica
- 14:40Speaker 5: because I was still so disappointed for the Diamonds. But
- 14:44Speaker 5: you know, after a few minutes, you're just that sheer
- 14:46Speaker 5: joy and the excitement. I think the next thing for them,
- 14:49Speaker 5: though they've made now World Cup final and Commonwalth Games final,
- 14:53Speaker 5: the next thing is they've got to start with They've
- 14:54Speaker 5: got to win one, right, They've got to step up
- 14:56Speaker 5: and win one. And you wonder, if you know, the
- 14:59Speaker 5: next challenge for them is when you win that semi final,
- 15:02Speaker 5: to behave like you expected it and to just then
- 15:06Speaker 5: do you keep all your energy in place? And they
- 15:07Speaker 5: had a really tight turn around in the Catherine from
- 15:10Speaker 5: one to the next, so like, just keep your energy down,
- 15:13Speaker 5: just go yep, we've got it, and then play your
- 15:15Speaker 5: Grand final the next day. But you can't take anything
- 15:18Speaker 5: away from them, they would. They were just phenomenal and
- 15:21Speaker 5: it was an absolutely unbelievable team effort. Like I've got
- 15:25Speaker 5: to say, from one end to end, it's the best
- 15:27Speaker 5: you make and performance we've ever seen.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, without doubts. I just want to throw my arms
- 15:34Speaker 3: around Sophie Dwyer. Yeah, help everyone to throw the arms
- 15:37Speaker 3: around Sophie Dwight. And what a tough position to be
- 15:41Speaker 3: putting to seven minutes on the clock, training to a
- 15:44Speaker 3: game like that and then expected to perform straight away.
- 15:47Speaker 3: I thought she was brilliant all tournament and she deserved
- 15:50Speaker 3: to be on court. Absolutely. I don't have an issue
- 15:53Speaker 3: with her going on court. I don't have an issue
- 15:55Speaker 3: with her being able to get the job done with
- 15:57Speaker 3: seven minutes on the clock, but to miss that last shot,
- 16:00Speaker 3: and even in the medal ceremony or just prior to
- 16:02Speaker 3: the medal ceremony, after the bronze medal match, she was
- 16:05Speaker 3: still in tears, like that will stay with her and
- 16:08Speaker 3: speaking from experience like after the Deli twenty ten, having
- 16:12Speaker 3: two opportunities to win the game as well, that shit
- 16:14Speaker 3: will stay with you for your life.
- 16:16Speaker 5: Now, Yeah, they go back to it's all to be
- 16:18Speaker 5: super supportive of her. So joh, I know, I will
- 16:21Speaker 5: say the thing that I loved seeing I was watching
- 16:24Speaker 5: her in the seconds afterwards, and Kate Maloney went straight
- 16:28Speaker 5: to her, and I'm like, that is great leadership. It's
- 16:32Speaker 5: the signs of a good team. You know. Kate wasn't
- 16:36Speaker 5: you know, Oh no we lost. She was like, right,
- 16:38Speaker 5: I've got to get to my teammate. And that was
- 16:40Speaker 5: just so it was so impressive. As we should all yeah, exactly,
- 16:44Speaker 5: we should all be the rest of the Diamonds team.
- 16:46Speaker 5: And yeah, my heart went out for it. You know
- 16:49Speaker 5: she have I said this to you before, Catherine, Sophie do.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I so reminds me of you.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Oh, she goes, oh, I'll say that.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Yeah, and you in Live Wilkinson.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I'll take all of those.
- 17:02Speaker 5: But I just think she's so she moves like you,
- 17:06Speaker 5: nothing flusters and nothing phases her. She's prepared to turn
- 17:09Speaker 5: and take the long shots. She just reminds me of you.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, so great to see that Ozzie's back
- 17:15Speaker 3: up for that bronze medal going Holy molly. It was
- 17:18Speaker 3: a flat game in comparison, but to be expected because
- 17:22Speaker 3: not only I mean the wind is out of the sails,
- 17:25Speaker 3: no question about it, when you're going for a bronze.
- 17:27Speaker 3: But this is seven games m when people are maxing
- 17:32Speaker 3: minutes and having to back up Liz, you know what
- 17:35Speaker 3: it's like on that last day. Even trying to get
- 17:38Speaker 3: your body to take the first step of the warm
- 17:41Speaker 3: up is the most painful thing. And I mean they
- 17:45Speaker 3: were unbelievably impressive. There was no team hungrier in that
- 17:50Speaker 3: Commonwealth Games finals out of all four teams in the
- 17:52Speaker 3: Australian Diamonds to get that bronze medal. I don't reckon
- 17:55Speaker 3: it was never going to come any other way.
- 17:58Speaker 5: And it was such you could tell by just they
- 18:00Speaker 5: blitz that opening quarter And I just think it shows
- 18:04Speaker 5: enormous mental capacity to have that the biggest disappointment and
- 18:08Speaker 5: then to be able to turn around and show, actually,
- 18:10Speaker 5: this is what we can do. And you could have
- 18:11Speaker 5: forgiven of if they just fell off the cliff, but
- 18:13Speaker 5: they didn't.
- 18:14Speaker 1: So you can't train that type of mental resilience. Oh
- 18:17Speaker 1: and that actually it just comes from the scarts, doesn't it.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But it's that this will be an incredibly valuable thing.
- 18:25Speaker 1: The only criticism I'm going to make about the coaching
- 18:28Speaker 1: is I would love to have seen the bench get
- 18:30Speaker 1: more guard home in the bronze medal match so that they.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Look at my points.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, the particularly Sophie Dwyer. I would really like
- 18:38Speaker 1: for her to have been given time to go back
- 18:40Speaker 1: out there on that big stage and go we believe
- 18:42Speaker 1: in you, because we absolutely do believe in you, Sophie Dwyer.
- 18:45Speaker 1: We believe in all of these diamonds who were selected
- 18:47Speaker 1: and who played with I would love to have seen them,
- 18:49Speaker 1: particularly you know what did we win by eighteen in
- 18:52Speaker 1: the end and the last quarter. Can we not make
- 18:54Speaker 1: sure that all of these girls get another run again?
- 18:57Speaker 1: And I was disappointed.
- 18:59Speaker 3: I thought Kara Khan actually deserve the start in our
- 19:02Speaker 3: game after what she did against JAMAI why a blinder?
- 19:05Speaker 3: She would she player of the match?
- 19:08Speaker 5: She should have been if she wasn't. She was amazing,
- 19:10Speaker 5: I know him she was.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I yeah, I agree with you, and I do agree
- 19:13Speaker 3: with you too about getting people on court. I would
- 19:16Speaker 3: have liked to have seen it sooner. The bench is
- 19:18Speaker 3: as strong as this starting seventh. Now, that's what makes
- 19:20Speaker 3: Australia so good. Funny is because Georgie Haw just came
- 19:24Speaker 3: on with four minutes to go. That was the only
- 19:26Speaker 3: change and Sarah Clow for a minute in that game.
- 19:31Speaker 3: But I also get a little angry because as a player,
- 19:35Speaker 3: I hated a token throw on at the end of
- 19:38Speaker 3: the game where the game was already in the bag.
- 19:40Speaker 3: And I'm sure Georgie Hawges is far more mature than
- 19:43Speaker 3: me and tastes it well. Everyone's moment for an hour,
- 19:47Speaker 3: the bar is low.
- 19:48Speaker 5: I reckon, she's getting over it, but do you know
- 19:50Speaker 5: what I mean?
- 19:51Speaker 3: It's also like, ah, don't do that, like just let
- 19:53Speaker 3: them run it out or put them on earlier. That
- 19:56Speaker 3: four minutes is like, oh god.
- 19:57Speaker 5: This iss t. But then at the end, you know,
- 19:59Speaker 5: the end of your career, if you're going to be
- 20:01Speaker 5: breaking a record, you will take that four minutes if
- 20:03Speaker 5: it gives you your extra test cap. So a test
- 20:05Speaker 5: cap is a test cap. It's tough, isn't it right
- 20:08Speaker 5: because of the coaching staff, as we're going to make
- 20:10Speaker 5: sure that you get that bronze medal. You know, you
- 20:12Speaker 5: can't just be going, oh, well, you know we're not
- 20:15Speaker 5: going to lose to England, because you know England, there's
- 20:18Speaker 5: a fever of pride there Tea. You know, not that
- 20:19Speaker 5: long ago they won the gold medal and here they are.
- 20:22Speaker 5: They're eventually they've walked away with nothing.
- 20:25Speaker 1: So the one upside of the Australians not being in
- 20:29Speaker 1: the final is that the Australian umpires got a chance
- 20:32Speaker 1: to actually officiate in the big match. And just as
- 20:37Speaker 1: a sidebar, I know she's not umpiring anymore. Last week
- 20:41Speaker 1: I referred to Rachel Air as Rachel Airs and as
- 20:45Speaker 1: a Caroline who routinely gets called Caroline. I humbly apologize Rachel.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I've already sent her a note, yes, but anyway, it
- 20:53Speaker 1: was great to see those those Australian umpires out there
- 20:55Speaker 1: getting to do that game.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Before we move on to the Australian umpires, can I
- 20:58Speaker 3: just talk about the New Zealand And umpire in the
- 21:01Speaker 3: Australian England game. Gareth Fowler from the UK was on,
- 21:05Speaker 3: Sorry from New Zealand A was on. I literally just
- 21:07Speaker 3: said that, my god, my brain is not working. But
- 21:09Speaker 3: there was one point when you know how the goal
- 21:12Speaker 3: shooter goalkeeper whoever wrestled for the ball after the shot
- 21:15Speaker 3: to get it back to the center pass. He you
- 21:18Speaker 3: could tell he was on day ten as well. Had
- 21:20Speaker 3: had a laugh. Now of the cattery line, he stops
- 21:23Speaker 3: play this is my favorite bit and says how it's
- 21:26Speaker 3: going to work is when it's your center pass, you
- 21:29Speaker 3: get the ball. When it's your center pass, you get
- 21:32Speaker 3: the ball. Happy days, and then he walks back to
- 21:35Speaker 3: the center pass. I pissed myself, laughing, look good on you,
- 21:38Speaker 3: like just yea yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 5: But do you know what that that assumes that you
- 21:43Speaker 5: can remember who's center pass. It's going to mean because
- 21:45Speaker 5: I could never hurt.
- 21:47Speaker 3: But he puts it on them right, and it's a goal,
- 21:49Speaker 3: and god, that's.
- 21:50Speaker 5: A lot of pressure. I wouldn't have coat tweets.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it was great to say, Juzzie umpires. Well,
- 21:55Speaker 3: let's talk about the gold medal game then, hey because hello, Yeah,
- 22:00Speaker 3: well I didn't want it either, Oh goys, is it
- 22:03Speaker 3: because it was nighttime? It was sleeping time? So I'm
- 22:07Speaker 3: going to watch it after we're done here. Yeah. It
- 22:09Speaker 3: was flat. Also, Jamaica had nothing left in the tank.
- 22:13Speaker 3: As I was a little worried about New Zealand one
- 22:17Speaker 3: three quarters, they drew the second one, so I did
- 22:19Speaker 3: feel like Jamaica was coming back a little. But the
- 22:22Speaker 3: way the attack line played the Jamaican defense end, they
- 22:26Speaker 3: could not get a ball. It was bred grace. Wiki
- 22:29Speaker 3: was unbelievable. She was at eighty nine percent forty eight
- 22:32Speaker 3: from fifty four. I'll tell you who I am so
- 22:35Speaker 3: impressed with. And if teams haven't got the ten players
- 22:39Speaker 3: lined up that they want for Supernetball, they need to
- 22:42Speaker 3: get after Georgia Heffernan. She's a shooter, she was goal
- 22:46Speaker 3: a tired attack. We are graysed. Unbelievable. Of her feeds
- 22:49Speaker 3: into the circle, one hundred percent of them were goal
- 22:52Speaker 3: as cysts. No going straight to the target. Wow. Yeah,
- 22:56Speaker 3: it's just so efficient, reliable on the shot. It's throughout
- 23:00Speaker 3: the tournament. I think she was shooting up in the
- 23:02Speaker 3: nineties for the tournament. Just one of those really great
- 23:05Speaker 3: linking goal attacks.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Is actually, so, can we just explain that? So if
- 23:09Speaker 5: a ball goes into a feed into the circle and
- 23:13Speaker 5: then the shooter passes it out, it's just a feed, right,
- 23:16Speaker 5: It's not a goal assist. So if she's feeding it
- 23:19Speaker 5: in and the shot is taken, that's a goal assist, right.
- 23:23Speaker 5: So that's impressive that she's not only just getting the
- 23:24Speaker 5: ball in the circle, she's getting the ball to.
- 23:26Speaker 3: The right place. Unbelievable and impressive.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, right, I think I think one hephenoid is
- 23:32Speaker 5: enough to be outstanding. I don't like both of them
- 23:35Speaker 5: being outstanding. My god, this you'll.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Be happy about this then, because when they did the
- 23:39Speaker 3: metal presentation, that was standing next to each other, twins,
- 23:42Speaker 3: and when they called them out, they called out the
- 23:44Speaker 3: wrong one and they had the biggest chuckle because they
- 23:47Speaker 3: obviously couldn't tell.
- 23:50Speaker 5: You got a fifty to fifty opportunity.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a parenting dilemma for you if your Kara
- 23:55Speaker 1: Conan's parents on the weekend. So your daughter Brianna is
- 23:59Speaker 1: playing in the AFLD. Are you representing Australia against Ireland
- 24:02Speaker 1: in a game that was here at North Sydney and
- 24:04Speaker 1: your daughter is playing for Australia in Glasgow for netball?
- 24:10Speaker 3: Where are you divide and conquer flipper coin? One goes
- 24:13Speaker 3: to one, one goes to the Oh.
- 24:14Speaker 1: No, I actually I think Kaifang in China, which is
- 24:18Speaker 1: exactly halfway between, and watched the two games on So
- 24:22Speaker 1: is that what they did?
- 24:23Speaker 3: I don't know. I doubt it.
- 24:25Speaker 1: That would be a stupid thing to do, but I
- 24:28Speaker 1: looked up a stupid solution for them. But yeah, isn't
- 24:31Speaker 1: that amazing to two sports? And it was like the
- 24:34Speaker 1: heffen and parents had both of their daughters playing. I
- 24:37Speaker 1: think it was consecutive weekends in Grand finals and stealing
- 24:40Speaker 1: leg and and and then super netball here.
- 24:43Speaker 3: But yeah, what's the parent's own fault? And have overachieving
- 24:47Speaker 3: my age? Make sure you starve one of opportunity.
- 24:51Speaker 5: Do we need to keep talking about the umpires for
- 24:53Speaker 5: the Australian umpires getting a game? No, I was going
- 24:56Speaker 5: to say, if we're finished congratulating them, which is fantastic
- 24:58Speaker 5: because it's it's the first time remember that Australian umpires
- 25:01Speaker 5: have been out an umpire final, either World Cup or
- 25:04Speaker 5: Commonwealth Games, isn't it in the old and in the
- 25:08Speaker 5: old and ancient times? I thought there was a period
- 25:11Speaker 5: of time where all umpires were considered neutral and it
- 25:15Speaker 5: was just the two best umpires, as it should be.
- 25:18Speaker 3: It's what issues can't from mean things a bit stupid?
- 25:22Speaker 5: I'm sure I've played in.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Having, you know, say, in that semi final, one Australian umpire,
- 25:27Speaker 1: one Jamaican umpire.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Couldn't we do that? Like it's either have no one
- 25:31Speaker 3: from the countries represented or one each like you know,
- 25:35Speaker 3: or like, I think it's not one each.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Obviously, that implies that there's some sort of partiality.
- 25:41Speaker 5: I just think that we should just assume that all
- 25:44Speaker 5: the umpires have incredible integrity, because they do. And rather
- 25:48Speaker 5: than just assume they're going to cheat if they are
- 25:52Speaker 5: umpiring their own home team, just pick the two best
- 25:55Speaker 5: performing umpires and if it happens to be an Australian
- 25:58Speaker 5: and New Zealand umpire, it's an Australian, if it's an Australian, Jamaican,
- 26:02Speaker 5: if it's in New Zealand, if it's an English, like,
- 26:04Speaker 5: I don't care. You just want the best.
- 26:05Speaker 3: I'm sure.
- 26:06Speaker 5: I am certain. In the old and old and olden
- 26:09Speaker 5: days I played, we played in finals, Kathay. We might
- 26:12Speaker 5: have had one of h but I can't remember. Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Do you know what I love though, is we assume
- 26:16Speaker 3: that they're going to be biased towards us. They have
- 26:19Speaker 3: to deal with the Aussie Shenelligans every week. Yeah, they're
- 26:22Speaker 3: probably teachers have babies. They find it hard to name
- 26:29Speaker 3: the kid. It's like they've had every kid with every
- 26:32Speaker 3: bad attitude, with every name.
- 26:34Speaker 1: So sort of yeah, but I know when rugby that
- 26:36Speaker 1: they'll have like a Northern hemisphere ref and a Southern
- 26:39Speaker 1: Hemisphere reference because there are different styles of play and
- 26:43Speaker 1: things like that. So great, but you know, let's not
- 26:45Speaker 1: just assume that because someone is from a country where
- 26:48Speaker 1: a team happens to be playing, that they can't umpire
- 26:52Speaker 1: that game and do it. In fact, they probably go
- 26:54Speaker 1: the other way to prove their impartialities.
- 26:57Speaker 5: Yes, yes, all. I remember years ago I had to
- 27:01Speaker 5: choose the player of the match when I was commentating,
- 27:04Speaker 5: and I never chose Catherine because I thought people would
- 27:07Speaker 5: yell at me for choosing my friend, even when.
- 27:10Speaker 1: She was school Eldo let me on a controversizy here
- 27:15Speaker 1: for for dribblers when you were being Amanda on Jonesy
- 27:20Speaker 1: and Amanda's show, who got to be Call of the
- 27:23Speaker 1: Week and get a night in?
- 27:25Speaker 5: I tried to bake up for it by letting Katherine Wincot.
- 27:31Speaker 3: That's true. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I do want to.
- 27:36Speaker 1: We have someone new in the dribbler community who was
- 27:38Speaker 1: doing some great work on stance backing up Darryl, and
- 27:40Speaker 1: that is Carli Lights, So thank you, carld some amazing stuff.
- 27:44Speaker 1: She put up a great post about the minutes played
- 27:47Speaker 1: by the Diamonds and out of the six games, so
- 27:51Speaker 1: Sophie do I had had one hundred and forty minutes
- 27:53Speaker 1: of court time at that stage, and like, if you'd
- 27:55Speaker 1: ask me based on just kind of you know, what
- 27:59Speaker 1: I has seen or feel, I would have much lower
- 28:02Speaker 1: than that. So it's really interesting to look at those things.
- 28:04Speaker 1: But yeah, Carli is producing some great stuff, so thank you.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Thanks Carl. The mid court got smashed, didn't they genuinely
- 28:09Speaker 3: priced Liz Watson Kate Maloney out the big minutes, work work, hardly,
- 28:13Speaker 3: working it out. Yeah, yeah, there's much more to talk,
- 28:17Speaker 3: but obviously our.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Game is in a very exciting state.
- 28:20Speaker 5: It is. Can I just say one thing? It was also,
- 28:22Speaker 5: as much as I hated that the Diamonds went in
- 28:25Speaker 5: the final, we had an other representation there with the
- 28:28Speaker 5: two assistant coaches of both.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Yes, Yes and.
- 28:33Speaker 3: What about Rob right though after the win against Australia
- 28:36Speaker 3: in the middle of the floor giving it these ones like.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Don't get too excited. Yeah, so Rob of course the
- 28:44Speaker 5: assistant coach of Jamaica and briany A called the assistant
- 28:47Speaker 5: coach of the Silver Ferns. So yeah, I mean I
- 28:51Speaker 5: sort of took a little bit of pleasure that I thought,
- 28:53Speaker 5: right here got Australi umpires. That's great, So you take
- 28:57Speaker 5: your silver loans. I have to say the other silver
- 28:59Speaker 5: lining years as we push for Olympic conclusion, as we
- 29:03Speaker 5: head towards the Netball World Cup next year, the depth
- 29:06Speaker 5: in international netball has never been stronger, and that makes
- 29:10Speaker 5: me so happy. It's not just the fact that it
- 29:12Speaker 5: was New Zealand and Jamaica in the final. It's the
- 29:15Speaker 5: fact that the ultimate gold medals of silver fans got
- 29:18Speaker 5: pushed all the way by Uganda Jamaica. The finalists got
- 29:21Speaker 5: pushed by Uganda. Australia, you know, had a real good
- 29:25Speaker 5: tussle against South Africa. England and South Africa were close.
- 29:29Speaker 5: I think Africa are going to get better too. Yeah.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Like I just feel like there is this evening out
- 29:37Speaker 5: of international netball which certainly makes it harder from like
- 29:42Speaker 5: a diamond's point of view, and that has happened because
- 29:46Speaker 5: of super Netball. I totally understand that, and I know
- 29:49Speaker 5: that there's lots of debates to be had about you know,
- 29:52Speaker 5: do we continue to allow unlimited imports because it has
- 29:55Speaker 5: seen the rest of the world catch up. But if
- 29:58Speaker 5: we want our international game to be strung, and we
- 30:00Speaker 5: want to see Olympic representation, and we want to see
- 30:02Speaker 5: great World Cups that produce a really great commercial outcome.
- 30:05Speaker 5: You need uncertainty in your top you know, your top
- 30:08Speaker 5: five or six teams in terms of who's going to win.
- 30:10Speaker 5: So I tried to. Once I've got over my disappointment
- 30:14Speaker 5: and sadness, I thought, right, my little green and Gold
- 30:17Speaker 5: heart can be broken. But on the other side of things,
- 30:20Speaker 5: what balances up is the knowledge that the game, that
- 30:23Speaker 5: the league that we have here has played an enormous part.
- 30:26Speaker 5: And you know, the other leagues around the world. Now
- 30:29Speaker 5: I think we're all sort of a rising tide lifts
- 30:32Speaker 5: or boats, but we're seeing the greatest depth we've ever
- 30:35Speaker 5: seen an international netball and I suspect this is just
- 30:37Speaker 5: the start of it.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Here here exciting. All right, let's take a little break
- 30:43Speaker 3: and come back. I've got some things to talk about, okay.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So on the weekend and while looking at my phone,
- 31:02Speaker 1: I saw possibly the darkest thing I've ever seen.
- 31:05Speaker 5: So, how's this?
- 31:07Speaker 3: Some guy?
- 31:08Speaker 1: Of course it was a guy has done a marathon
- 31:11Speaker 1: of burpie broad jumps, so forty two kilometers of doing
- 31:15Speaker 1: a burpie, and then a two foot jump, and then
- 31:18Speaker 1: another burpie. Give it two foot, two thousand burpies.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Continue this over a period of days. He did it
- 31:27Speaker 3: as a as a marathon, and I think you're easy.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Got too much time on his hands.
- 31:32Speaker 5: How long did that take?
- 31:34Speaker 3: I don't know. Oh my god, imagine the bits that
- 31:38Speaker 3: would be hurting after that.
- 31:39Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I can't even imagine. Like, I don't think
- 31:42Speaker 5: you have enough bits for the wars.
- 31:43Speaker 3: I reckon, I get fifty meters that far on a stretch,
- 31:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna say lesson.
- 31:51Speaker 5: That I wouldn't be able to be out of sight
- 31:55Speaker 5: in the dark night, not anymore.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Well, I'll challenge you both to a Burby broad jump
- 32:01Speaker 3: race sometime, but I fors of it for a bunch
- 32:06Speaker 3: of there you go, Thank you very much.
- 32:09Speaker 1: But I did send you both a little interesting question
- 32:11Speaker 1: that I saw on the internet, and I hope you've
- 32:14Speaker 1: had time to think about it, right.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Yes, I did piss myself laughing as soon as I
- 32:18Speaker 3: saw it was so funny.
- 32:20Speaker 1: So it was one of those things where it's like,
- 32:23Speaker 1: you're now named after the last blah blah blah.
- 32:26Speaker 3: It was.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Your vagina is now named after the last TV show
- 32:30Speaker 1: that you watched.
- 32:33Speaker 5: Does it have to be like like a like you
- 32:36Speaker 5: want to say the news, because that's boring because my
- 32:38Speaker 5: mind would be like England versus a street, the Commonwealth Games.
- 32:42Speaker 5: That is not a name for my vagina.
- 32:44Speaker 3: No, But so I had been back on Foxtel for
- 32:47Speaker 3: a minute because I'm catching up on a couple of
- 32:49Speaker 3: shows I started that are dropping weekly and it's killing
- 32:52Speaker 3: me that I watched them both back to back. And
- 32:54Speaker 3: I cried when I saw this because one one is
- 32:57Speaker 3: Colling from the Kiowns and the other one is five
- 33:03Speaker 3: Star Weekend.
- 33:05Speaker 5: Ah, Catherine, that is standing. Oh no, no, fantastic.
- 33:10Speaker 3: It was into the manosphere.
- 33:18Speaker 1: The friend who said it to me, she said, hers
- 33:21Speaker 1: is called for all mankind and her daughters.
- 33:23Speaker 3: One is love Island. We'll sit around on into the manore.
- 33:34Speaker 5: Oh god, yeah, well actually outside of the net bord.
- 33:37Speaker 5: The only now the show I watched on the weekend
- 33:38Speaker 5: was Landline, and see that is not none of that
- 33:41Speaker 5: is interesting.
- 33:42Speaker 3: You know, it's talking into.
- 33:43Speaker 5: The See I'm married to a farmer. This is what
- 33:48Speaker 5: we do.
- 33:50Speaker 3: And you were trying shade on my ukulele playing.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Let me get good news, And then I've got I've
- 33:58Speaker 1: got a letter from a list for you lose. So
- 34:01Speaker 1: we've ticked off two more countries, Estonia and Latvia. Now
- 34:04Speaker 1: there's fantastic people go to the dribble. So we've got
- 34:10Speaker 1: quite a lot. Obviously North America is done, and we've
- 34:13Speaker 1: got quite a lot still to do in Europe. But
- 34:17Speaker 1: I'd like us to focus closer to home. So we
- 34:20Speaker 1: need dribblers, we need menmar Yes, it used to be
- 34:24Speaker 1: called Burma. It's next to Thailand.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Oh I thought I thought you's been focusing on Australia. No, no, Asia.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Sorry maybe I did say that, but you know, North
- 34:32Speaker 1: Korea is going to be hard, but there's a price
- 34:34Speaker 1: if you can be North Korea. But two I thought
- 34:36Speaker 1: that shouldn't be too hard. New Caledonia. Oh yeah, and
- 34:40Speaker 1: Solomon Islands. So come on, dribblers, get around those.
- 34:43Speaker 5: I've got a friend who's working as her and her
- 34:46Speaker 5: husband are over. They're working as a doctor and a
- 34:48Speaker 5: nurse at the Solomon Islands. At the moment we go,
- 34:50Speaker 5: they need to listen to Liz. You raised a parenting
- 34:53Speaker 5: question a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it was just
- 34:56Speaker 5: last week about Ted Lasso and whether it's appropriate for
- 34:59Speaker 5: your ten year o some to watch. Yes, got a
- 35:02Speaker 5: letter from Amy and you will love this. Just wanted
- 35:05Speaker 5: to let Liz know she should definitely rewatch the old
- 35:07Speaker 5: ted Lasso seasons before starting the new one. To make
- 35:10Speaker 5: her feel better about it with the kids, we let
- 35:13Speaker 5: our four year old watch it.
- 35:14Speaker 3: Hear me out.
- 35:15Speaker 1: She was having trouble getting to sleep for a while,
- 35:17Speaker 1: and my husband and I really only sit down to
- 35:19Speaker 1: watch something together on a Friday night with pizza and
- 35:22Speaker 1: a beer, how good I was. Usually after the kids
- 35:26Speaker 1: are asleep. She kept getting up and we didn't want
- 35:28Speaker 1: cold pizzas or to watch a Disney movie for the
- 35:30Speaker 1: thousands time, so we gaved in to let her stay up.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I thought most of it went over ahead. The next
- 35:36Speaker 1: week she was up again and as my husband was
- 35:39Speaker 1: getting pizzas out over the TV pause with Roy Kent
- 35:42Speaker 1: on the screen, to which my daughter asked if we
- 35:44Speaker 1: were going to watch fucking shit there.
- 35:50Speaker 5: So the last time we watched ted Lasso, the kids
- 35:54Speaker 5: were a bit younger, but they of course could hear
- 35:56Speaker 5: bits and pieces of it, so they used to say, oh,
- 35:58Speaker 5: Mom and dadd are watching the swear Show right So,
- 36:02Speaker 5: but I actually got a text message from Julia Fitzgerald
- 36:04Speaker 5: this week, who obviously listens to our podcast. Hello Jules,
- 36:08Speaker 5: She said, I flew to and from New Zealand this
- 36:10Speaker 5: week and used the time to rewatch Ted Lasso. Enjoyed
- 36:13Speaker 5: it more second time around, kids will laugh off swearing
- 36:16Speaker 5: and pick up a few morals. And I said, thanks Jules,
- 36:19Speaker 5: And then she came back and said, Wanka made it
- 36:22Speaker 5: a bit of explanation, and I'm like, wanker is not
- 36:24Speaker 5: the worst one. My kids are all over Wanka.
- 36:29Speaker 1: We are just about to run out of time. But
- 36:31Speaker 1: one of our lovely dribblers, Annie Marie from Townsville, got
- 36:35Speaker 1: married on the weekend to Atball who's tipping alias is
- 36:40Speaker 1: I know netball, So congratulations to them and very best.
- 36:44Speaker 3: It's just a challenge though. I'm willing to get him
- 36:47Speaker 3: on the blow and ask him some questions and see
- 36:49Speaker 3: how much to you. I think it might have been
- 36:51Speaker 3: tongue and she that was it the first year and
- 36:53Speaker 3: the second year I think it was I know more netball,
- 36:55Speaker 3: I know netball better well ye.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Anyway, chel actual Annie and Darren.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Anyway, that's all we've got time for today, but we.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Will be back on Friday as you know, it's a
- 37:06Speaker 1: little bit sad that we don't have the Commonwealth Games,
- 37:09Speaker 1: but there's so much to look forward to, So we'll
- 37:11Speaker 1: be back in your years.
- 37:12Speaker 3: In a couple of days. I'm Carolyn's beIN delm Dotcox.
- 37:15Speaker 5: I'm lose Ellas, Bye Bye,
