Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / The Very Public Friendship Breakdown
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture
- 0:08Speaker 2: news twice a week. I'm Amy Torber and coming up
- 0:11Speaker 2: on today's show, Molly Mae Haig's jacket potato fail, why
- 0:16Speaker 2: some women are swearing off men after Trump's re-election and
- 0:20Speaker 2: our highs and lows of the week. But first, Ashy
- 0:23Speaker 2: Bynes is navigating another public friendship breakdown and this time
- 0:27Speaker 2: with her podcast co-host and fellow influencer, Kiara Dorough, who
- 0:32Speaker 2: is known by her Instagram handle, Aussie Mom Vlogger. To
- 0:35Speaker 2: make matters worse, it comes just days after the pair
- 0:38Speaker 2: postponed their product launch.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Kate, can you tell us more?
- 0:42Speaker 2: Well, Ashley and Kiara have hosted the Grow and Glow
- 0:44Speaker 2: podcast for the last two years. Ironically, the podcast is
- 0:48Speaker 2: about having raw conversations and finding light in the dark
- 0:52Speaker 2: times and leveling up to be your best self. So
- 0:55Speaker 2: back in late August this year, they teased that they
- 0:58Speaker 2: were launching a product together. So they shared a photo
- 1:01Speaker 2: of themselves with the caption, something is coming. And they
- 1:04Speaker 2: continued dropping clues, even stating that the product was something
- 1:08Speaker 2: that has never been done before. However, on the day
- 1:12Speaker 2: of the launch, instead of sharing the product, they announced
- 1:14Speaker 2: the launch was delayed. Ashi and Kiara wrote, something has
- 1:18Speaker 2: come up today and we won't be able to launch
- 1:20Speaker 2: our new product. We apologize as we know you are
- 1:22Speaker 2: so excited as are we. New date coming soon. As
- 1:25Speaker 2: soon as I saw this pop up, I was like,
- 1:28Speaker 2: that is bullshit. The fact that it's something has suddenly
- 1:31Speaker 2: come up. Like they were dropping Easter eggs about this
- 1:34Speaker 2: launch in the.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Days leading up to it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: They were pumping it up and suddenly- Something has come up.
- 1:39Speaker 2: This reminds me of the Brady Bunch when they're trying
- 1:42Speaker 2: to get out of a date.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Something suddenly came up.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Maybe they saw that Kick had already released some kind
- 1:46Speaker 2: of hotline and were like.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Fuck, this idea is not even new.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Also, the Comic Sans text written over the top on
- 1:53Speaker 2: the announcement, that is the ugliest text to choose.
- 1:56Speaker 1: It's a very like boomer text.
- 1:58Speaker 2: It was a rush job because normally you probably go
- 2:01Speaker 2: on Canva and produce something a little bit more professional.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Then came the big unfollowing. So on Thursday, eagle-eyed fans
- 2:08Speaker 2: spotted that Ashi and Kiara were no longer following each
- 2:11Speaker 2: other on Instagram or TikTok. Now it's clear that Ashi
- 2:14Speaker 2: Bynes has actually blocked Kiara because content that she used
- 2:18Speaker 2: to be in is no longer on Kiara's Instagram profile.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So in terms of the timing, it appears the falling
- 2:24Speaker 2: out happened on the day of their product launch. That's
- 2:27Speaker 2: pretty inconvenient.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 2: So Ashi and Kiara were meant to be traveling to
- 2:31Speaker 2: Brisbane together for a podcast interview and launch of this product. However,
- 2:35Speaker 2: if their Instagram stories are anything to go by on
- 2:38Speaker 2: that day, it appears they were apart. You would think
- 2:41Speaker 2: if you had a product that was coming out that
- 2:43Speaker 2: potentially you've both invested money and time in, you could
- 2:47Speaker 2: just put your differences aside. Like, Clearly something big has
- 2:51Speaker 2: happened here for them to totally pull the product launch.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And these things happen, especially when you're working so closely
- 2:56Speaker 2: with someone. I'm sure there's been probably arguments going on
- 2:59Speaker 2: behind the scenes for quite a while. Why could I
- 3:01Speaker 2: see this happening to us if we were releasing a product?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Well, it hasn't stopped there.
- 3:05Speaker 2: So Ashley has now announced in the Grow and Glow
- 3:08Speaker 2: Facebook group that Kiara has decided to leave the podcast
- 3:12Speaker 2: to focus on her family more. This is the official messaging.
- 3:16Speaker 2: So Ashley described it as a bittersweet time but said
- 3:19Speaker 2: she respected Kiara's decision and trust in the universe's plan
- 3:23Speaker 2: for both of them. She also wrote, I please ask
- 3:26Speaker 2: you all to be gentle with us both, not gossiping
- 3:29Speaker 2: or ask any questions. We are both going through a
- 3:32Speaker 2: lot and stretched emotionally and mentally. Mental health is not
- 3:35Speaker 2: something to joke about or play around with. I have
- 3:38Speaker 2: a healing brain aneurysm and a bulging aneurysm awaiting surgery.
- 3:42Speaker 2: And my surgical team has said stress is the worst
- 3:44Speaker 2: thing for me and I can't risk my health or
- 3:46Speaker 2: a rupture. My kids need me and I've got so
- 3:49Speaker 2: much more to do in this life.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Oh, that's horrible. Well, it is horrible.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And a new episode of the Grow and Glow podcast
- 3:56Speaker 2: also dropped that Friday entitled an announcement, the future of
- 3:59Speaker 2: Grow and Glow. Now, Ashley and Kiara both appeared in
- 4:02Speaker 2: the episode and were cordial, but it felt very forced.
- 4:06Speaker 2: So Ashley threw to Kiara who read a statement out.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Here's a little bit of what Kiara said.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Over the years, it has grown rapidly, which is so exciting,
- 4:15Speaker 4: but also does make it need a bit more of me,
- 4:18Speaker 4: especially the next year with doing live events on top
- 4:20Speaker 4: of already releasing two new episodes a week. I just
- 4:23Speaker 4: didn't see how I could comfortably fit that inside my
- 4:25Speaker 4: schedule while running another business, having three little kids and
- 4:28Speaker 4: showing up as a mom in a way that I'm
- 4:30Speaker 4: proud of, especially with how much they've been needing me lately.
- 4:33Speaker 4: In saying this, I made it loud and clear I
- 4:35Speaker 4: did not want to hold Growing Glow back. It has
- 4:38Speaker 4: had so much potential and I didn't feel like it
- 4:40Speaker 4: was fair for me to hold not only Ashley back,
- 4:42Speaker 4: but our producers as well. So this was completely my
- 4:44Speaker 4: choice to part ways.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It's interesting that Kiara has backed up Ashley's original claims
- 4:50Speaker 2: that she's leaving the podcast purely to focus on her family,
- 4:53Speaker 2: that there's nothing to see here. Yeah, and then she's
- 4:55Speaker 2: gone on her Instagram and completely contradicted everything that's been
- 4:58Speaker 2: put out. So she shared her own statement on her
- 5:01Speaker 2: Instagram story and she revealed that she was feeling exhausted
- 5:04Speaker 2: and drained and that she was trying her best to
- 5:06Speaker 2: chill out after a few hectic days.
- 5:08Speaker 1: And she did go along with.
- 5:10Speaker 2: The official messaging in a sense, because she did say
- 5:12Speaker 2: it was time to focus on her and her family.
- 5:15Speaker 2: And she thanked all her followers for their love and support.
- 5:18Speaker 2: And she said that she is 100% fine and will
- 5:20Speaker 2: not let this consume her anymore. But she finished up with,
- 5:24Speaker 2: I can't say much because I'm already losing so much
- 5:27Speaker 2: and don't want to lose anymore.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But thank you.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And you are so clever. With a winking emoji. I
- 5:33Speaker 2: wonder if she's not saying everything that's happened because she
- 5:36Speaker 2: is worried about Ashley's health. Like she doesn't want to
- 5:38Speaker 2: have that on her conscience. I reckon she's more bound
- 5:41Speaker 2: by some sort of legal contract that says she's not
- 5:44Speaker 2: allowed to speak about her experience with Ashley or what
- 5:46Speaker 2: actually went down.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Well, a lot of people think that she's been slapped
- 5:49Speaker 2: with a gag order. Ashley Bynes is known to literally
- 5:53Speaker 2: jump to lawyers to send out cease and desist letters. Now,
- 5:56Speaker 2: this little jibe from Kiara was just the start. So
- 5:59Speaker 2: she went on to share cryptic quotes that were very telling.
- 6:03Speaker 2: One read, I no longer see the good in people,
- 6:05Speaker 2: I see the truth. And she added the caption, lol,
- 6:08Speaker 2: lucky I'm a strong motherfucker. Another said, this year alone
- 6:12Speaker 2: has made it clear to me to not ignore my
- 6:14Speaker 2: intuition anymore. If I get an off feeling about anything,
- 6:17Speaker 2: I'm trusting my instincts and removing myself. Too many times
- 6:20Speaker 2: I've doubted myself just to be proven right in the
- 6:23Speaker 2: long run. This is just so millennial to be sharing
- 6:25Speaker 2: quotes like this. She shared another, which said, narcissist be like,
- 6:29Speaker 2: how dare you ruin my reputation by telling the truth
- 6:32Speaker 2: about the things I said and did.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And she added the caption, bah, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Okay. I'm done for the day with the crying with
- 6:39Speaker 2: laughter emoji. Now, as she got in on the action too,
- 6:42Speaker 2: because she is a millennial, She shared a quote that said,
- 6:45Speaker 2: you are the greatest project you'll ever work on. Restart, rest,
- 6:48Speaker 2: refocus as many times as you need. Well, that one
- 6:51Speaker 2: seems to be inwards looking though. It doesn't seem to
- 6:53Speaker 2: be attacking Kiara though. Yeah, but it's definitely in reference
- 6:56Speaker 2: to this argument that's going on. It's sort of those
- 6:59Speaker 2: people that act like they're so above it. They're like,
- 7:01Speaker 2: I'm so above this drama that I'm focusing on me,
- 7:03Speaker 2: which can be infuriating. Yeah, and even Ashley's husband, Steve,
- 7:07Speaker 2: was dropping clues about what was going on behind the scenes.
- 7:10Speaker 2: So he shared a photo of Ashley at the beach
- 7:12Speaker 2: with the caption, the most loyal, giving, kind, good human
- 7:15Speaker 2: I know, and then tagged Ashi in it. Well, he's
- 7:18Speaker 2: really trying to defend her. I mean, it would be
- 7:20Speaker 2: really tough, particularly when your wife is going through such
- 7:22Speaker 2: a terrible time medically. Yeah, well, the podcast listeners were
- 7:26Speaker 2: just not buying the messaging that was put out, and
- 7:28Speaker 2: Ashi had to go into damage control in the Facebook group,
- 7:32Speaker 2: which Kiara no longer is an admin of. So in
- 7:35Speaker 2: response to a listener challenging the messaging, Ashi replied, I
- 7:39Speaker 2: have an episode coming out next week also, but the
- 7:42Speaker 2: truth is what Kiara has said on the podcast, which
- 7:45Speaker 2: she also didn't want to go into more detail out
- 7:47Speaker 2: of respect for her family. But it's been a hard
- 7:50Speaker 2: process of emotions with the changes that has led to
- 7:53Speaker 2: disagreements and upset for both of us. Sorry, that was
- 7:55Speaker 2: a really long run on sentence. Yeah, I want to
- 7:57Speaker 2: point out there's only a full stop just at the
- 7:59Speaker 2: end then. We share a lot, but for our own
- 8:02Speaker 2: mental health, I never want to engage in any online gossiping, trolling,
- 8:06Speaker 2: or risk anything for our health or reputation. We don't
- 8:09Speaker 2: need to share everything we are navigating privately. Please read
- 8:12Speaker 2: this whole post again and respect we are carrying a lot.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Ashi also responded to a listener saying she was shocked
- 8:19Speaker 2: by Kiara's behavior. She wrote, never in my wildest dreams
- 8:22Speaker 2: would I think she'd ever respond like this and encourage
- 8:25Speaker 2: hate towards me, doing wrong by her when it's so
- 8:28Speaker 2: far from the truth. I never wanted her to leave,
- 8:31Speaker 2: cried a lot and respected and supported her decision. And yes,
- 8:35Speaker 2: I found a replacement, but it was from her blessing
- 8:38Speaker 2: and encouragement to do so. It's interesting that she's already
- 8:41Speaker 2: found a replacement for the podcast. It seems like maybe
- 8:44Speaker 2: this was on the cards. Maybe she had someone ready
- 8:46Speaker 2: to go behind the scenes. I don't think it was
- 8:48Speaker 2: on the cards though, because they were set to release
- 8:51Speaker 2: a product together. Why would you put it out there
- 8:53Speaker 2: if you knew that you were going to replace her
- 8:55Speaker 2: and bring someone new in?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Like it's just drawing attention to it.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Well, I think that the product launch was probably the
- 8:59Speaker 2: catalyst for all of this because Yes, the podcast probably
- 9:03Speaker 2: was earning them some sort of small revenue. I mean,
- 9:05Speaker 2: I never hear anyone talking about it.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I don't think it's a big podcast. It's never on
- 9:08Speaker 1: the charts.
- 9:09Speaker 2: No. So I think that they were hoping to cash
- 9:11Speaker 2: in on this product. But when you release a product,
- 9:13Speaker 2: you have to actually put in money to it. And
- 9:16Speaker 2: when money gets involved with friendships, that's when it usually
- 9:19Speaker 2: turns south. And as we said, Ashley Bynes is known
- 9:23Speaker 2: for having quite high profile friendship breakdown. There's been Millie, Sammy, Gretty, Nat,
- 9:28Speaker 2: and now Kiara. It doesn't really look very good for
- 9:32Speaker 2: Ashy Binds. What's the bet that a few of these
- 9:34Speaker 2: girls might come together and do their own podcast? That
- 9:37Speaker 2: would be a bit of a pot shot. Maybe that's
- 9:38Speaker 2: a new product for them. Yeah, well, there was a
- 9:40Speaker 2: lot of questions around Ashy Binds' friendship with Nat Rowland. Now,
- 9:44Speaker 2: I saw on Tattle Life that she has recently confirmed
- 9:47Speaker 2: via DM that they are no longer friends and haven't
- 9:50Speaker 2: been for a long time. So there were quite a
- 9:52Speaker 2: few question marks around that relationship. You do wonder. It
- 9:55Speaker 2: does look like there is a common denominator.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Allegedly, but I.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yes, very much allegedly. I am very interested to see
- 10:03Speaker 2: how this fares because if Kiara has allegedly been slapped
- 10:08Speaker 2: with some sort of gag order, she's clearly gone against
- 10:11Speaker 2: it by putting out those quotes. So I wonder if
- 10:15Speaker 2: she's going to come out and say something or we're
- 10:18Speaker 2: going to see her retreat very quickly.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I think she might retreat.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I feel like Ashi and her team maybe have brought
- 10:23Speaker 2: out the big guns and unfortunately Kiara might be silenced. Well,
- 10:27Speaker 2: it's interesting that she said she's already lost a lot.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I think that is in reference to the podcast. So
- 10:32Speaker 2: I wonder why Ashi Bynes was the one that got
- 10:34Speaker 2: the podcast. Yeah, that's a good point.
- 10:37Speaker 1: In this friendship breakdown.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I feel like Ashi's podcast would be under her name
- 10:41Speaker 2: because she's the bigger name. Yeah, well, she definitely is
- 10:43Speaker 2: the bigger name. I think Kiara only has around 100,000 followers.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Ashi has over a million, but it's interesting that this
- 10:50Speaker 2: podcast isn't bigger considering she apparently has such a large audience.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I think that's what a lot of influencers are finding though.
- 10:57Speaker 2: People may want to follow their lives online and see
- 10:59Speaker 2: their pretty pictures, but People don't necessarily want.
- 11:02Speaker 1: To hear what they have to say.
- 11:03Speaker 2: See, I often think that when an influencer launches a podcast,
- 11:08Speaker 2: it's actually a true reflection of their level of engagement
- 11:11Speaker 2: and following. Because back in the day, it was quite
- 11:14Speaker 2: easy to purchase followers. So some people can have these
- 11:18Speaker 2: vanity numbers on social media where, oh, this person's got
- 11:21Speaker 2: a million followers or they've got 100,000 followers.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But how many of them are actually real?
- 11:27Speaker 2: Well, one does spring to mind. I was going to
- 11:29Speaker 2: say an old friend of the podcast, but not really
- 11:31Speaker 2: a friend at all. I know, but yeah, it's funny
- 11:33Speaker 2: that these big influencers, their podcasts don't really have any listeners.
- 11:36Speaker 2: There's an influencer who her following fluctuates between 700,000 to
- 11:40Speaker 2: 900,000 dependent on how many followers she seems to have purchased.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yet her podcast is never on the charts.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Doesn't make sense. Funny about that.
- 11:50Speaker 4: I guarantee you the Google search data on what is
- 11:54Speaker 4: 4B movement spiked today.
- 11:57Speaker 2: A feminist movement is sweeping the internet, gaining millions of
- 12:00Speaker 2: views and hundreds of thousands of likes. Known as 4B,
- 12:04Speaker 2: the movement encourages women to swear off men. I have
- 12:07Speaker 2: seen this all over my For You page, and it
- 12:10Speaker 2: is in response to Donald Trump's victory over Kamala Harris
- 12:13Speaker 2: in the US election. Now, I had never heard of
- 12:16Speaker 2: this 4B movement until last week, but it actually originated
- 12:20Speaker 2: in South Korea in around 2015, and it was sparked
- 12:24Speaker 2: by inequality in the country. So the name 4B comes
- 12:28Speaker 2: from four Korean words, which all start with B and
- 12:31Speaker 2: translate to no marriage, no childbirth, no dating, and no
- 12:35Speaker 2: sex with men. So it's a term that's been co-opted
- 12:38Speaker 2: by the internet as a general phrase for boycotting men. Yeah,
- 12:42Speaker 2: and there was such a huge spike in searches for
- 12:45Speaker 2: 4B in the US following Trump's win. So searches went
- 12:48Speaker 2: up by 450%. And many women were also encouraged to
- 12:53Speaker 2: join the movement in response to some really gross misogynistic
- 12:56Speaker 2: tweets which surfaced last week on X. And they were
- 13:00Speaker 2: shared by far right-wing men celebrating Trump's win. So one wrote,
- 13:06Speaker 2: And this disgusting phrase has spread like wildfire across the internet.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I was just so shocked when the news came through
- 13:13Speaker 2: that Donald Trump was leading and it looked likely that
- 13:16Speaker 2: he was going to win. See, I was upset but
- 13:19Speaker 2: not ultra surprised. I just think that Americans, a big
- 13:22Speaker 2: bulk of them, are just morons. Well, I think so
- 13:24Speaker 2: many women felt let down by the results in particular
- 13:27Speaker 2: because reproductive rights were such a big issue in this election.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And Kamala was, of course, a huge advocate for reproductive freedom.
- 13:35Speaker 2: So it is just So disappointing to see that we
- 13:39Speaker 2: had such a worthy candidate. Yeah, well, one US woman,
- 13:43Speaker 2: Ashley Pollard, put it really well. She told CNN, we
- 13:45Speaker 2: have pandered and begged for men's safety and done all
- 13:48Speaker 2: the things that we were supposed to do, and they
- 13:51Speaker 2: still hate us. So if you're going to hate us,
- 13:53Speaker 2: then we're going to do what we want. Another woman
- 13:57Speaker 2: also vowed on TikTok, no man will touch me until
- 14:00Speaker 2: I have my rights back. And some women are even
- 14:03Speaker 2: going as far as shaving their heads so they don't
- 14:06Speaker 2: appeal to men. But this has caused some outrage online
- 14:09Speaker 2: because many women who suffer from alopecia or who have
- 14:12Speaker 2: undergone cancer treatment are saying it's highly offensive. because it's
- 14:16Speaker 2: inferring that all bald women are ugly. Look, it's obviously
- 14:19Speaker 2: a very sensitive topic, but for me, I don't think
- 14:21Speaker 2: that the women are saying it's ugly to have a
- 14:23Speaker 2: bald head. I think what they're doing is pushing back
- 14:26Speaker 2: on the male gaze. There are women who are doing
- 14:28Speaker 2: the opposite though, because they're channeling their anger into workouts
- 14:31Speaker 2: at the gym. So one woman shared her workout routine
- 14:34Speaker 2: and wrote, building my dream body that no man will
- 14:37Speaker 2: touch for the next four years. How about the influencers
- 14:40Speaker 2: who have been supporting Trump? So I saw Mitch Third
- 14:43Speaker 2: saying how great it was. I also saw- What a surprise. Yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 2: Sky Wheatley's partner, Lockie Warhoo, we were celebrating earlier on
- 14:50Speaker 2: our podcast, celebrating the fact that he had won. Well,
- 14:53Speaker 2: even when you look at these Aussie influencers who are
- 14:55Speaker 2: supporting Trump, they all kind of push this bro content online.
- 15:00Speaker 2: And you can see why so many women are joining
- 15:03Speaker 2: the 4B movement, because it's a way of them being
- 15:06Speaker 2: able to take back control. And there have been so
- 15:09Speaker 2: many polls that have been released that show just how
- 15:11Speaker 2: much support Trump has from young men in particular.
- 15:16Speaker 1: It's not that surprising because Trump did a huge push
- 15:19Speaker 1: on the Joe Rogan show.
- 15:21Speaker 2: He also got a lot of support from the controversial
- 15:23Speaker 2: NELC boys who are very popular with.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Young men on TikTok.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It seems very clear that Trump targeted these kinds of
- 15:29Speaker 2: young men who just seem angry with the world and
- 15:33Speaker 2: seem angry with women in general.
- 15:35Speaker 1: It's the very far right. He He is not just
- 15:39Speaker 1: the right. He is far right.
- 15:40Speaker 2: It's not like in Australia where Liberal and Labor, they're
- 15:43Speaker 2: kind of the same party with a few differences.
- 15:46Speaker 1: He is really pushing a far right agenda. It's extreme right,
- 15:49Speaker 1: isn't it? It's extremism.
- 15:51Speaker 2: And unfortunately, it is going to have a massive impact
- 15:54Speaker 2: on women. And I can understand, as you said, Amy,
- 15:56Speaker 2: why they are joining this movement. And it will be
- 15:59Speaker 2: interesting to see how this continues and what other methods
- 16:02Speaker 2: women come up with on TikTok to feel united and
- 16:05Speaker 2: Let's get into our highs and lows of the week.
- 16:07Speaker 2: So my high of the week was watching UK influencer
- 16:11Speaker 2: Molly Mayhague and her sister Zoe attempt to purchase jacket
- 16:15Speaker 2: potatoes from a famous TikTok food van called Spud Bros.
- 16:19Speaker 2: So these guys have been showing up on my For
- 16:22Speaker 2: You page and they make the most incredible looking jacket potatoes.
- 16:25Speaker 2: They always have huge lines out the front. So in
- 16:29Speaker 2: Molly's most recent YouTube video, she told her followers how
- 16:33Speaker 2: her manager Fran, her sister Zoe and another friend had
- 16:36Speaker 2: made a pact to go and try the jacket potatoes.
- 16:41Speaker 3: And it's basically like a van, like a food van,
- 16:45Speaker 3: where they basically cook the most unbelievable jacket potatoes you've
- 16:50Speaker 3: ever seen, like with the most insane filling. So basically
- 16:53Speaker 3: we're going to go and get a jacket potato.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Now, Spud Bros isn't particularly close to Molly, so they're
- 17:00Speaker 2: located in Preston, which is just over an hour's drive
- 17:03Speaker 2: from where Molly lives in Manchester. So it's not like
- 17:06Speaker 2: they were just popping down the road to get a
- 17:08Speaker 2: jacket potato. Now, Molly and Zoe proceeded to vlog their
- 17:12Speaker 2: car journey down the highway to get these jacket potatoes
- 17:16Speaker 2: when it hit them that maybe Spud.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Bros wasn't open on a Monday. Let's have a listen.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Why have you not checked? Hold on, why have you
- 17:28Speaker 1: not checked? Because actually.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Close!
- 17:33Speaker 3: No, close! No, mum's side!
- 17:35Speaker 2: Mum's side!
- 17:37Speaker 4: Shut up!
- 17:38Speaker 2: Zoe!
- 17:39Speaker 3: Zoe! No, no, no, no, no, Zoe!
- 17:42Speaker 2: I swear! Zoe!
- 17:45Speaker 3: Zoe! It is a Monday as well!
- 17:49Speaker 2: Open!
- 17:49Speaker 3: My body's gone numb! Open!
- 17:52Speaker 1: Zoe, it says closed!
- 17:53Speaker 2: Open!
- 17:53Speaker 3: 10 till 3, Monday to Saturday. Catering service. Zoe, my
- 18:00Speaker 3: body just went numb. My legs actually can't feel my legs.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I can't feel my legs.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Can I message them on Instagram?
- 18:07Speaker 2: No.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Why not? Because I just don't want to look like Beggy.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I'm just saying, hi, you're open today. It's not clear
- 18:12Speaker 1: on the internet.
- 18:14Speaker 3: On the tinter-in-et? No, just leave it.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Kid Molly may be any more relatable.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I just love that.
- 18:20Speaker 2: She is so famous, particularly in the UK. but is
- 18:24Speaker 2: driving down to a fucking spud van. Now, the reason
- 18:27Speaker 2: this is my high of the week is because I
- 18:30Speaker 2: loved the dedication from Molly and Zoe. They wanted that
- 18:34Speaker 2: spud so bad, they still continued to drive to Preston
- 18:38Speaker 2: just on the off chance that the van might be open.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Let's have a listen to what happened when they rocked up.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I'm so embarrassed. I've given myself the ick. potentially more
- 18:48Speaker 3: state of.
- 18:49Speaker 2: The game out of my life.
- 18:50Speaker 3: In one day. Just the whole thing of going for
- 18:52Speaker 3: a potato, like, and it's closed. Is the van there
- 18:55Speaker 3: at all?
- 18:56Speaker 1: Or is it not even there?
- 18:58Speaker 2: I didn't, I would have to.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Do you want me to go and run and look?
- 19:00Speaker 3: Should we go together?
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah, come on.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I'm really upset, Zoe. What a waste. I'm really, really,
- 19:05Speaker 3: really upset.
- 19:05Speaker 1: At least you've got your car.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Oh.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Is that even anything?
- 19:08Speaker 3: There's Nando's, no. No, I've got a jacket potato in
- 19:11Speaker 3: my head and now I need a jacket potato.
- 19:13Speaker 2: And Molly and Zoe's hunt continued because they ended up
- 19:16Speaker 2: going to lunch at their favorite cafe where they normally
- 19:19Speaker 2: buy their jacket potatoes from.
- 19:22Speaker 1: However, things didn't go smoothly.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Imagine this, right?
- 19:26Speaker 3: We're like, okay, Spud Rose didn't happen. Really, really gut
- 19:29Speaker 3: wrenching situation. And also 95% of.
- 19:30Speaker 1: This vlog has been about Spud Rose.
- 19:32Speaker 2: And it never happened.
- 19:34Speaker 3: So we were like, okay, we'll come to our usual
- 19:35Speaker 3: spot and we'll get a jacket potato. We've been getting
- 19:39Speaker 3: jacket potatoes here for approximately five years now. Like, we've never, ever.
- 19:42Speaker 3: They're like, just so you know, we are out of
- 19:44Speaker 3: jacket potatoes today. We were like, is this a prank?
- 19:50Speaker 2: Had to put up with beans on toast with hash browns,
- 19:53Speaker 2: which actually looked elite, but fuck this made my week.
- 19:57Speaker 2: And subsequently, my low of the week is now all
- 19:59Speaker 2: I can think about is having a jacket potato from
- 20:02Speaker 2: Spud Bros. And we, of course, don't have a Spud
- 20:05Speaker 2: Bros in Australia. But what great advertisement it has been
- 20:09Speaker 2: for spud bros. I want to get into my high
- 20:12Speaker 2: of the week and it does relate to last week's low.
- 20:14Speaker 1: So we flipped it around.
- 20:16Speaker 2: So I had so many recommendations for new foundations because
- 20:20Speaker 2: I was calling out Mac Studio Fix. I still want
- 20:23Speaker 2: to get a petition together, but luckily I have discovered
- 20:26Speaker 2: from the help of our listeners, a foundation that matches up. Now, Kate,
- 20:31Speaker 2: I don't look great at the moment because I've got
- 20:32Speaker 2: the tester on, which is slightly the wrong color. because
- 20:35Speaker 2: I've run out of the original, but it is the
- 20:38Speaker 2: Estee Lauder Double Wear. Well, what's interesting about that is
- 20:41Speaker 2: Estee Lauder actually owns MAC. So that's a good point.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I didn't even think of that. Maybe it's a very
- 20:46Speaker 2: similar formula. I mean, it is Etsy. It's $ 79 a bottle.
- 20:50Speaker 1: But you don't have to use that much.
- 20:53Speaker 2: See, I saw a lot of people agreeing with your
- 20:55Speaker 2: sentiments around the MAC Studio Fix, which I completely agree with.
- 20:59Speaker 2: The new formula is shithouse, but I have a hack
- 21:03Speaker 2: So I bought the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in the
- 21:07Speaker 2: matte finish. That is a really good dupe and you
- 21:09Speaker 2: can often get it for like $ 13. So I've been
- 21:12Speaker 2: wearing that because I haven't really been out and about.
- 21:14Speaker 2: So I haven't needed the longevity of, say, the old
- 21:18Speaker 2: MAC Studio Fix. Yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I mean, that is another good one.
- 21:21Speaker 2: A few makeup artists in our group were saying that
- 21:23Speaker 2: you really need to set that really well, the Maybelline
- 21:26Speaker 2: Fit Me, if you want it to stay But yeah,
- 21:29Speaker 2: if anyone loves matte foundation, I know matte foundation is
- 21:33Speaker 2: very 2016, but that's when I was in my mid-20s.
- 21:36Speaker 2: So I am sticking to that look for me. It
- 21:39Speaker 2: works for me and my skin type.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I've got freckles. I like full coverage. I know at
- 21:42Speaker 1: the moment it's all about the dewy makeup. Well, you've
- 21:44Speaker 1: got to do what's good for you.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yeah, but oh my God, the color was good because
- 21:47Speaker 2: it had a bit of a pinkish undertone. The other
- 21:50Speaker 2: one I was using was very orange. Anyway, I could
- 21:52Speaker 2: talk about this for days, but thank you so much.
- 21:54Speaker 2: One listener sent me a message saying, look, don't name me,
- 21:57Speaker 2: but yeah, Estee Lauder is great. I've literally slept in
- 22:00Speaker 2: it before at my boyfriend's house.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It's like paint. It doesn't come off.
- 22:03Speaker 2: And I was like, that is exactly what I'm looking for.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Not to sleep in, but just the longevity. Now, I
- 22:08Speaker 2: don't actually have a lot of the week because I'm
- 22:10Speaker 2: having a good week this week, almost going on my honeymoon.
- 22:13Speaker 2: So I'm going to add another high and that is
- 22:16Speaker 2: that my in-laws have recently put gyprock. Well, sorry, I
- 22:19Speaker 2: get in trouble because my partner says that he does
- 22:21Speaker 2: all the work too. So my in-laws and my husband
- 22:23Speaker 2: have gyprocked our very ugly blue walls in our house
- 22:28Speaker 2: and it just looks so much better, so much more modern.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Well, it was blue brick, wasn't it? Blue brick, yeah.
- 22:33Speaker 1: It looked terrible.
- 22:33Speaker 2: I will have to add some photos to my homepage. Okay.
- 22:38Speaker 2: which is Golden Hills House, if anyone wants to check
- 22:40Speaker 2: it out. So are you going to be configuring your
- 22:43Speaker 2: lounge room? Because the whole grand plan was to put
- 22:46Speaker 2: a TV on the wall.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Yes, we are.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to have to share because my house
- 22:51Speaker 2: page at the moment only has three posts and we
- 22:54Speaker 2: really haven't actually shared the house itself because- We were like, oh,
- 22:57Speaker 2: we don't want to put too much up that reveals
- 23:00Speaker 2: where we live. So we've tried to be strategic about
- 23:02Speaker 2: what we post, but surely the insides aren't going to
- 23:05Speaker 2: give it away too much.
- 23:05Speaker 1: That's fine.
- 23:06Speaker 2: But we've been doing most of the work on the outside.
- 23:08Speaker 2: That's why we're lacking a bit of content at the moment. Well,
- 23:11Speaker 2: I actually need to come over and visit because I
- 23:12Speaker 2: haven't seen it in real life, but I'm very intrigued.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I'm getting a lot of FOMO because I would love
- 23:18Speaker 2: to do my house up at the moment, but it
- 23:19Speaker 2: is just not a priority, unfortunately. Now, my high of
- 23:23Speaker 2: the week is my son Jack has started on solids.
- 23:26Speaker 2: And for many people, it'd probably be a low because
- 23:28Speaker 2: it means you're having to cook and clean. But it's
- 23:30Speaker 2: just been so fun because we've had this very set
- 23:33Speaker 2: feeding routine. And now it's like a new exciting thing,
- 23:36Speaker 2: getting him to see his reaction to tasting the new foods.
- 23:40Speaker 1: It's so cute.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Kate sent me this video. of him tasting apple for
- 23:44Speaker 2: the first time. I mean, I don't think he was
- 23:46Speaker 2: a fan.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Look, he hasn't been a fan of either of the foods.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So he had pureed carrot, which unfortunately I'd ordered all
- 23:53Speaker 2: this food and it didn't arrive in time. So the
- 23:54Speaker 2: only thing that I had available was the carrot. And
- 23:56Speaker 2: oh my gosh, I regret that because literally it's stained everything.
- 24:01Speaker 2: To be fair, carrot is a bit of a polarizing one.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Like I don't like carrot that's cooked at all. So
- 24:07Speaker 2: maybe he likes something plainer. Can you do potato or
- 24:09Speaker 2: is that not really healthy enough? Well, I'm following Dr.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Golley's advice. He is the Messiah in my household at
- 24:14Speaker 2: the moment. And He suggested pumpkin, sweet potato, peas, zucchini, apple, pear.
- 24:21Speaker 2: So we're kind of sticking with what he said. And
- 24:23Speaker 2: also infant cereal. So I've got some of that to try.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I'm going to try that next because I think that
- 24:28Speaker 2: may go down a little bit better. But it's funny
- 24:31Speaker 2: because I said to Rhys, oh, should we get one
- 24:33Speaker 2: of those little smocks to cover him in? And Rhys
- 24:35Speaker 2: was like, no, bib will be fine. Literally after two seconds,
- 24:38Speaker 2: we were like, definitely going to buy one.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Of those smocks. Now, what's your low of the week?
- 24:42Speaker 2: My law of the week is it's grass seed season
- 24:45Speaker 2: at the moment. And for any dog owners, it is
- 24:48Speaker 2: a stressful time because- I've got two golden retrievers with
- 24:51Speaker 2: long hair and we have a big backyard and they
- 24:54Speaker 2: always are getting them on them and I'm picking them
- 24:56Speaker 2: off and I'm checking their paws and I'm brushing them
- 24:59Speaker 2: and then they're all on the carpet and I just
- 25:01Speaker 2: feel like they're everywhere. Maybe you need to get them
- 25:03Speaker 2: those little shoes that they wear. Well, we've been trying
- 25:06Speaker 2: to just trim their paws as well, but they've got
- 25:08Speaker 2: so much fluff.
- 25:09Speaker 1: It's just impossible.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Well, I think you guys could talk about your dogs
- 25:11Speaker 2: and grass seeds for the rest of the afternoon, but
- 25:13Speaker 2: we'll wrap things up there. Thank you so much for
- 25:16Speaker 2: listening to another episode of Outspoken.
- 25:19Speaker 3: If you are.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Listening and you're not a subscriber, make sure to hit subscribe.
- 25:23Speaker 2: And also, if you haven't already, we would really appreciate
- 25:26Speaker 2: if you could leave us a review because it really
- 25:28Speaker 2: helps out the podcast.
- 25:29Speaker 1: This episode was recorded.
- 25:31Speaker 2: On the traditional land of the Kaurna people of the
- 25:33Speaker 2: Adelaide Plains.
- 25:34Speaker 1: We pay respect to elders past and present.
