- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, hello everybody, welcome to a new episode of
- 0:04Speaker 1: Off the Air, the weekly podcast from the Lynch and
- 0:07Speaker 1: Taco Show here on one oh one one w j
- 0:10Speaker 1: r R. Back after an off week, because Taco, you
- 0:13Speaker 1: were off on a cruise, which you know, before we
- 0:18Speaker 1: get to our guest here, you really have not divulged
- 0:23Speaker 1: anything on the air about your cruise. Sure I have.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I said that it was my friend's fiftieth birthdays and
- 0:31Speaker 2: that we had a great time on the cruise. We
- 0:34Speaker 2: did virgin voyages, which the first time I had ever
- 0:37Speaker 2: been on that cruise and it was really good. And
- 0:40Speaker 2: then I don't know if I said it on the air,
- 0:42Speaker 2: but you and I were talking about checking out.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Was it a cattle call?
- 0:47Speaker 2: We just talked about that between Okay, yeah, yeah, anyway.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Never mind. What I'm getting at is the scenario that
- 0:54Speaker 1: you were in. It was you and multiple couples. Yea,
- 0:58Speaker 1: It was just you as like a third wheel to
- 1:01Speaker 1: multiple couples, and I thought that might make for some
- 1:04Speaker 1: interesting uh material over a few days. It Uh, it did.
- 1:09Speaker 2: There were Look here's a video real quick. Just you
- 1:12Speaker 2: see Jeffy in there. He's he's the one that turned fifty.
- 1:15Speaker 1: See that's a large group you had.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there were fifteen of us. Okay, an
- 1:20Speaker 2: odd number because yes, it was seven couples and me
- 1:24Speaker 2: so that point. Yeah, but uh wow, that is it.
- 1:28Speaker 2: That's a good video. But look at this. Look at
- 1:31Speaker 2: this picture.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Everyone listening right now is enjoying that.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Well, look at this picture right here. I'll hold it
- 1:37Speaker 2: up for the video.
- 1:38Speaker 1: That's the video. Stack of chips in front of you.
- 1:40Speaker 1: See this, I hold it up higher there. Yeah, it's
- 1:44Speaker 1: a stack of gambling chips, of five dollar chips.
- 1:47Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, Well you dih a math,
- 1:51Speaker 2: You do the math. I want to. I went thirty
- 1:54Speaker 2: eight hundred to something dollars.
- 1:55Speaker 1: That you walked with No, No, okay, see you didn't.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You didn't let you're a communications major and you did
- 2:03Speaker 2: not listen. I said I won, and I left it
- 2:07Speaker 2: at that. Then you jumped to debt you walked with No,
- 2:11Speaker 2: I did not walk with it, but I walked with
- 2:14Speaker 2: a seventeen hundred dollars voucher. Right. And the head lady
- 2:20Speaker 2: uh Ivanna Ivana fourn idea. That was super cool. She
- 2:25Speaker 2: ran the the whatever she goes Robert, she goes Bob.
- 2:32Speaker 2: She was on a Bob Basis by that, I said, Bob,
- 2:34Speaker 2: it's time to go, you know, because the things closed
- 2:37Speaker 2: at a certain time everywhere. And she goes, and you
- 2:41Speaker 2: want to check out now anyway, trust me, you know,
- 2:43Speaker 2: because they were gonna start, you know. So I walked
- 2:46Speaker 2: away with a seventeen hundred and something dollars voucher, which
- 2:50Speaker 2: and that's why I didn't get it into all this
- 2:52Speaker 2: on the air. It would take too long and we
- 2:54Speaker 2: wouldn't have the seventeen hundred dollars voucher, which I promptly
- 2:59Speaker 2: lost and wait, physically lost or lost, no, physically lost
- 3:06Speaker 2: and good question. And so I see Evana the next
- 3:11Speaker 2: day and I go, hey, I said, uh, I can't
- 3:14Speaker 2: find my winnings. I said, I know that, but I'm
- 3:18Speaker 2: checked every pocket and this, and then she goes, you'll
- 3:23Speaker 2: had on different jacket, Bob, And so I went and
- 3:27Speaker 2: checked my other jacket, couldn't find it, and somehow, all
- 3:31Speaker 2: of a sudden I reached in and I go to
- 3:35Speaker 2: something else and it was the seventeen dollars dollar voucher
- 3:40Speaker 2: and a fifty dollars.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Voucher, so it was on and so he ended up
- 3:45Speaker 1: finding it.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was a great trip gambling wise, and
- 3:49Speaker 2: I want a free cruise because they considered me a whale.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So you know, so you get to go back. I
- 3:54Speaker 2: want you to come back sure and spend some more money.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, one, it was all said and done
- 4:01Speaker 1: just for clarification and communication major purposes here. Were you
- 4:07Speaker 1: to the good or were you the good? Okay?
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I just yeah, I had money because I
- 4:11Speaker 2: went with money, but I made sure I knew the
- 4:14Speaker 2: amount I went with and amount I left with.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Okay, there was no episodes with you finding yourself in
- 4:21Speaker 1: weird situations with spouses of some of your friends or
- 4:25Speaker 1: anything like that because they had gone to bed early.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I'm just thinking, I just know you and I've been
- 4:30Speaker 1: on a cruise as absolutely not. These are friends of mine.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I've known most of them since junior high, and the
- 4:38Speaker 2: ones that I haven't i've known since elementary.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Okay, So I just thought there'd be lots of room
- 4:45Speaker 1: for Shenanigan.
- 4:46Speaker 2: No, I mean they were.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I'm not saying sexual, That's not what I meant. I
- 4:49Speaker 1: mean getting into trouble just period.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Damn well setting No, No, I did have a dude
- 4:55Speaker 2: to help carry me home one night. But Paramore has
- 4:58Speaker 2: done that before.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Hell yeah, but.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Don't know.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Okay, let me clarify that my arm around his neck
- 5:07Speaker 2: and his arm around my neck.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah. The last time I was on a non fishing
- 5:12Speaker 1: boat with you, what was a gambling cruise and you
- 5:16Speaker 1: left the boat in a wheelchair.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the easiest way to leave, Paramore, because you
- 5:23Speaker 2: just have other people push out.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It was because you couldn't stand up. Oh come on,
- 5:28Speaker 1: I judge less, judge less. Well, I just am saying
- 5:32Speaker 1: this because I was one of the individuals who had
- 5:34Speaker 1: to pick you up to put you in the wheelchair.
- 5:37Speaker 2: The beautiful thing, though, is I had the ride home.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It was perfect. That's the third voice you're hearing if
- 5:45Speaker 1: you're not watching this on Facebook Live.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I think you turned my microphone up instead of his
- 5:50Speaker 2: when you did.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Know I was getting an echo on yours. But I
- 5:54Speaker 1: think I've corrected, Paramore Brown aka twenty twenty five. iHeart Orlando,
- 5:59Speaker 1: employee of the You're honored just to be in your presence, sir.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Wow, Okay, pressure, pressure.
- 6:05Speaker 2: No listen. I think what we need to do with
- 6:08Speaker 2: Paramore is have you turned the microphone like Pat and
- 6:10Speaker 2: I have it forward and then right at your mouth.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You gotta talk. You're in radio now, Paramore, you've got
- 6:17Speaker 1: I know you're in the promotions department.
- 6:19Speaker 3: But boo, but now I'm black and all this handsome blackness?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Can you adjust your handsome blackenness with? Is that?
- 6:26Speaker 3: What is black blackness?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Okay, just set up your mic just like I have it,
- 6:31Speaker 1: just right there.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Perfect, Okay, see what I'm saying. But it's a little
- 6:34Speaker 3: bit too close.
- 6:36Speaker 1: It's fine. Yeah, you're gonna be all right.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Hello, So we brought Paramour Inpat for what reason?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Well, Paramore, Now, obviously you know we've known this guy
- 6:47Speaker 1: over twenty years at this point. He was always a
- 6:49Speaker 1: longtime listener of our show and of w j r
- 6:52Speaker 1: R in general. And uh lo and behold, he ends
- 6:57Speaker 1: up getting to a point in his a adulthood where
- 7:02Speaker 1: he's able to now work for us, yeah, and still
- 7:06Speaker 1: keep the lights on. He's been.
- 7:09Speaker 2: He's been part of JARR, a fixture of JARR for
- 7:13Speaker 2: at least twenty years. As Pat said, So it's like
- 7:16Speaker 2: he helped set up Earthday birthday year. Why not have
- 7:20Speaker 2: him work in our promotions farman? So Rick, our boss
- 7:22Speaker 2: made that happen. Fast forward, Pat and I were talking
- 7:26Speaker 2: a couple of weeks ago, and I said, we need
- 7:29Speaker 2: to have a segment for Paramore. And I was gonna
- 7:32Speaker 2: name it like you know, inside of Paramore's head, we're
- 7:36Speaker 2: just spitballing. And then Pat said, I have a really
- 7:39Speaker 2: good type, really good title for it.
- 7:41Speaker 1: So the working title of your segments in I understand
- 7:46Speaker 1: you've blessed this. You've given this the okay because we
- 7:49Speaker 1: wouldn't call it something you were uncomfortable with that point. Yeah,
- 7:52Speaker 1: and I at the same time wanted to have something
- 7:55Speaker 1: that would play off of something that has history with
- 7:58Speaker 1: JRR and that would be the music. Hey, there's a
- 8:02Speaker 1: certain Ozzy Osbourne album titled Diary of a Madman. Yes,
- 8:08Speaker 1: the Diary of a black Man. Hello, it's perfect. You
- 8:13Speaker 1: are a black man. Yeah, there's no mistake in that.
- 8:17Speaker 2: That part you told us many times and pointed out
- 8:21Speaker 2: again and again different things you've taught us from as
- 8:25Speaker 2: you called it, the hood, like the shopping cart chicken.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Thus the diary moments of your life and ongoing experiences
- 8:33Speaker 1: as a black man, which so many times, if you
- 8:36Speaker 1: look at us, we look like we're confused at times.
- 8:39Speaker 1: It's because you bring us information that sometimes catches us
- 8:42Speaker 1: a little bit off guard by surprise really quick.
- 8:46Speaker 2: The prime example is the shopping cart chicken that you
- 8:49Speaker 2: told us about, where you have the shopping cart with
- 8:52Speaker 2: with chark hole down below and then the chicken up
- 8:55Speaker 2: top like a grill and it cooks it. And then
- 8:58Speaker 2: that showed up at what game was.
- 9:02Speaker 3: That football game?
- 9:03Speaker 1: Something? Yeah? Lo bahol. Yeah, we hear about it from you,
- 9:06Speaker 1: and after you explain it, it makes total sense. Yes,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I mean it really does. But that's just scratching the
- 9:13Speaker 1: surface of some of the stuff. And we got to
- 9:16Speaker 1: learn about the sweet potato pie versus pumpkin pie. We
- 9:19Speaker 1: need to go into all that again. Hood tea, which
- 9:23Speaker 1: is I still don't quite fully grasp how any human
- 9:27Speaker 1: being can do what you do when it comes to
- 9:29Speaker 1: drinking southern sweet tea, which is sweet enough in most
- 9:34Speaker 1: folks opinion, but not for you.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Yes, once again, it depends on the establishment. I'm using
- 9:41Speaker 3: big words for the you know, for the other audience.
- 9:44Speaker 3: So the hood people, y'all understand what I'm saying. When
- 9:47Speaker 3: you go to places that we typically don't visit, you
- 9:52Speaker 3: have to explain to people that I need that diabetic stuff.
- 9:55Speaker 3: I need that stuff that's going to put me over
- 9:57Speaker 3: the top. So you know what I'm saying, Bring me
- 9:59Speaker 3: some tea, bring me a little container of some sugar,
- 10:03Speaker 3: you know, and they look at you and say, yes that,
- 10:05Speaker 3: don't worry about it. I got this.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Bring you the sugar caddy, yes, Or give you a cat, you.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Know what I'm saying. Or the two pound bag of sugar.
- 10:12Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, that's bring it on what
- 10:14Speaker 3: you would prefer. Hello, you know, but this morning I
- 10:18Speaker 3: heard y'all talking about the ace. Now my only question
- 10:22Speaker 3: selling pies? What kind of pie?
- 10:25Speaker 1: They had like four or five different varieties, the one
- 10:28Speaker 1: that the dude actually bought and took home and met
- 10:31Speaker 1: it with a strawberry rhubarb.
- 10:32Speaker 3: See, once again, I bet you there's no sweet potato pie.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Well, I can't speak to that. I don't I don't know.
- 10:41Speaker 3: But they don't have the list of pies you said.
- 10:43Speaker 3: It's five and I'm willing to say it's not sweet potato.
- 10:47Speaker 1: It looked to be like the traditional like fruit based pies.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yes, fruit based pies, apple, yes. Yeah, But once again,
- 10:58Speaker 3: is there a punkin pie?
- 11:00Speaker 1: Paramore? It's a goddamn hardware store that's selling pie. That's
- 11:03Speaker 1: the funny part here.
- 11:05Speaker 2: And let's quit naming the names of hardware stores. If
- 11:08Speaker 2: you're gonna call him out for something, I.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Call them out for some But once again, I can
- 11:13Speaker 3: get them their blackness to come to them. But once
- 11:17Speaker 3: they saw saying I mean, you take it out.
- 11:20Speaker 1: They may sell. The pumpkin pie is one of their offerings.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I don't know. I would have to look it up.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yes, sir, please do.
- 11:26Speaker 2: And it's in California too, So once again it's some
- 11:30Speaker 2: black I mean that we don't know what the men
- 11:33Speaker 2: but is not sweet potato pie. If they put sweet
- 11:37Speaker 2: potato pie, guess who will come? Guess who'll come?
- 11:39Speaker 1: You'll you'll get your people. Yeah, okay, So that gets
- 11:43Speaker 1: back to the whole. There is a big differentiation. And
- 11:46Speaker 1: I learned this the hard way. He basically took me
- 11:50Speaker 1: to school on this. It was over a Thanksgiving conversation
- 11:53Speaker 1: and he wanted to know if we at my house
- 11:56Speaker 1: if we had pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie, and
- 11:58Speaker 1: I said, we do pumpkin pie. Oh no, no, no,
- 12:00Speaker 1: no no, and then proceeded to tell me that black
- 12:03Speaker 1: people don't eat pumpkin pie. And I'm like, I've never
- 12:06Speaker 1: heard such a thing. Wow.
- 12:07Speaker 2: And then then you proceeded both of you guys to
- 12:10Speaker 2: ask like probably he did.
- 12:12Speaker 1: He started going up to random black people pulling him
- 12:14Speaker 1: over and just go. He would just go. He wouldn't
- 12:16Speaker 1: even say who he was or what was going on.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Here you go. Sweet potato pie or pumpkin pie was
- 12:24Speaker 1: was almost to a fault. Sweet potato pie.
- 12:26Speaker 2: So back to his uh tea or hood tea. He
- 12:31Speaker 2: dumps in so many sugar caddies. I won't name the
- 12:35Speaker 2: place we were at, but he goes it's still not good
- 12:37Speaker 2: on top.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Of southern sweet tea, more sugar.
- 12:40Speaker 2: So I figured out we need to get him a
- 12:42Speaker 2: container of sugar that he can carry around. But we'll
- 12:46Speaker 2: do it plastic so you can carry it and not.
- 12:49Speaker 3: The only pa is that the establishment have no kind
- 12:53Speaker 3: of interaction with it when you once they find out
- 12:57Speaker 3: that you know, he got a container a cigar, it
- 13:00Speaker 3: might be boogie sugar, I meant, but at the same time,
- 13:05Speaker 3: I'm helping people out.
- 13:06Speaker 1: You know where you need to go for your your
- 13:08Speaker 1: sweet tea where you can guarantee the sugar intake is
- 13:11Speaker 1: just a traditional straight up diner which always has that
- 13:14Speaker 1: tall glass you know, like you're having a traditional dinery.
- 13:19Speaker 1: You open the thing up and just start pulling away.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Yea, they used to. It used to be a drugstore
- 13:26Speaker 3: that sir Breakfast right there on ob T and uh
- 13:31Speaker 3: right off of Church Street and Rex Drugs right back
- 13:35Speaker 3: in the days.
- 13:35Speaker 1: They used to us to as well. Yeah, had had
- 13:41Speaker 1: a diner. Yeah maybe it was wool Warts that was.
- 13:46Speaker 3: But the wool Wharf had to real sit down, a
- 13:48Speaker 3: couple of tables, you know what I'm saying. But you
- 13:50Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, like.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Hands spun milkshakes too, Oh my god, real milkshakes. Not
- 13:55Speaker 1: I never had my My dad used to talk about it.
- 13:59Speaker 3: See I'm saying, man, y'all, I'm missing y'all, I'm missing out.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I never hated at the wool Worth because right down
- 14:05Speaker 2: the way, if you weren't born yet, probably there was.
- 14:08Speaker 2: There was a Woolworth at the winter Park mall when
- 14:10Speaker 2: I was a kid, but we were in the arcade
- 14:13Speaker 2: or at the pizza joint.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and I know the mall drug stores did have
- 14:19Speaker 1: the food, the dining counters. But again it was so young,
- 14:23Speaker 1: I would have no idea. I just wouldn't vaguely remember it.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I vaguely remember it, but never.
- 14:29Speaker 3: The laite sauces with the eggs and the grits and
- 14:32Speaker 3: the toast. Oh my god, see what I'm saying, Black folks,
- 14:36Speaker 3: we do potatoes. We do potatoes, but we do grits.
- 14:39Speaker 3: We do grits, not cream, not swimmy grits. We do thick.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I'm down with that.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Hello, yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Like, but we don't put a bunch of butter on it.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Hello, Okay, And sometimes you know.
- 14:55Speaker 1: That gets rid of the where are you on? Cream
- 14:59Speaker 1: of wheat?
- 15:00Speaker 3: Cream of weep is very very passive, unless you know
- 15:03Speaker 3: what I'm saying, like, that's for older folks or people
- 15:05Speaker 3: from up north. You know what I'm saying. Nothing to
- 15:07Speaker 3: get you all from up north. But though once again,
- 15:09Speaker 3: we don't do cream of wheat down south. That tough,
- 15:12Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Every now and then you'll
- 15:14Speaker 3: see a cream of weep and we'll just push them
- 15:16Speaker 3: off to.
- 15:16Speaker 2: The side, right all right, Okay, that's cream of weep
- 15:21Speaker 2: for the record.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Okay, cream of weep, you know, because you'd be weeping
- 15:24Speaker 3: eating that stuff.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Which cream of wheat one of those ones that they
- 15:28Speaker 1: had to change the packaging because it was racist.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Once again trying to take black people off stuff that
- 15:34Speaker 3: they made.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Where are you at? Yeah, where are you on the whole?
- 15:37Speaker 1: Auntemima and Uncle Ben's thing, that whole contra do not
- 15:40Speaker 1: just start a whipped up controversy from a black person.
- 15:43Speaker 3: But once again, once again, see what I'm saying, Like,
- 15:47Speaker 3: I'm finding out that some people are very very sensitive
- 15:51Speaker 3: and to the point where you know what I'm saying,
- 15:53Speaker 3: like they don't understand the concept of this for him
- 15:56Speaker 3: because believe it or not, you know what I'm saying,
- 15:58Speaker 3: a little bit of history. Black folks wasn't allowed to
- 16:02Speaker 3: own things back in the days. They couldn't get patents
- 16:05Speaker 3: for this. It couldn't get patents for that. But though
- 16:07Speaker 3: at the same time, you use the picture because you
- 16:09Speaker 3: wanted to relate to the blacks. So you know what
- 16:11Speaker 3: I'm saying, like Auntie, Mama, Uncle Ben's all of them
- 16:15Speaker 3: they was, I mean, like.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Real people.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, yes, you know what I'm saying, like yes,
- 16:22Speaker 3: and you know, and it's one hundred percent acceptable because
- 16:25Speaker 3: that's how they fed their kids, That's how they fed
- 16:27Speaker 3: generations of people, you know what I'm saying. So there
- 16:30Speaker 3: is no ooh still your type. No. The only thing is,
- 16:33Speaker 3: you know, like Lenid Skinner said, give me back my bullets,
- 16:37Speaker 3: I mean, like you pencil pushes better step out of
- 16:40Speaker 3: my way because y'all don't start taking stuff and making
- 16:43Speaker 3: it so ooh political or whatever. You know what I'm saying.
- 16:47Speaker 1: No, I get exactly what you're saying. It's interesting that
- 16:50Speaker 1: you say that too, because I'm just trying to think back.
- 16:56Speaker 1: It seemed to be the outcry over this packaging seemed
- 16:59Speaker 1: to be coming from up tight white people.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Boom shacka Laco.
- 17:02Speaker 2: They totally did, and to the point where I went
- 17:05Speaker 2: out and bought a couple of Aunt Jemima things, thinking, oh, okay,
- 17:10Speaker 2: this is cancel culture. Back then it was canceled culture.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I was like, now they're canceled. I'm like, damn syrup
- 17:16Speaker 2: so wet and got something and it still have one
- 17:19Speaker 2: of them.
- 17:19Speaker 3: And it's not only for the blacks because it's the
- 17:23Speaker 3: butter of the of the engine.
- 17:26Speaker 1: So yeah, the the lake, Yeah, yes, sir.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Yes sir. I went to the stove personally and I
- 17:31Speaker 3: brought it and I had took a picture of it.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I got the picture. One day it will pop up
- 17:36Speaker 3: on social media and see this is what you people
- 17:39Speaker 3: have done. I mean, like what about the weeping engine
- 17:42Speaker 3: that was riding down the road, about people throwing trash enough,
- 17:45Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I mean like they're
- 17:49Speaker 3: going at Smoky the Bath. You know what I'm saying, like, Oh,
- 17:52Speaker 3: how are you gonna do it? I mean, like, you know,
- 17:54Speaker 3: come on, people for real. I mean, like, you know,
- 17:56Speaker 3: this is what brought us to where we're at now.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Right in that that's that's is the most aggravating part.
- 18:02Speaker 1: And it's like you got these mainly guilty feeling white
- 18:05Speaker 1: people who think they are somehow getting a higher place
- 18:08Speaker 1: in society by pointing out all the injustices.
- 18:11Speaker 4: And they are injustices. No one's arguing that. But we
- 18:15Speaker 4: learned from those and try to advance and move on.
- 18:18Speaker 4: It's like at some point you have to just say, look,
- 18:21Speaker 4: that's in.
- 18:22Speaker 2: The rear view mirror. At this point in paramore, am
- 18:25Speaker 2: I correct that you were saying? You allegedly will say
- 18:29Speaker 2: that so all those Angemima and Uncle Ben's they were
- 18:34Speaker 2: all black people, but the white people went ahead and
- 18:39Speaker 2: made the money off it.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know what I'm saying, like at the
- 18:42Speaker 3: same time too, now, because the patents, you know what
- 18:46Speaker 3: I'm saying, like people couldn't black folks couldn't get patents. Yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 3: but you know, at the same time, you know what
- 18:52Speaker 3: I'm saying, like, let's go with the first ambu lamps. Yes,
- 18:57Speaker 3: I cannot say that word. That's a running Yes it was.
- 19:03Speaker 3: It started in Philadelphia. You know what I'm saying, called
- 19:06Speaker 3: the Freedom the Freedom Force of freedom things. You know,
- 19:10Speaker 3: they started the first ambulams in history.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I think I saw a show on it.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Yeah, And you know what I'm saying, like, and what
- 19:17Speaker 3: did that come up?
- 19:18Speaker 1: No?
- 19:18Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. They took it from them
- 19:20Speaker 3: and they boomed. But they say thousands and millions of lives, right,
- 19:24Speaker 3: And you're saying, and now look at it. You rather
- 19:27Speaker 3: call a cab than call an ambulamp because the freaking
- 19:29Speaker 3: ambulance called you what thousand dollars?
- 19:32Speaker 1: You know, It's like, dude, you bleed out in an
- 19:35Speaker 1: uber for twenty bucks.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Hello. This one is saying the first ambulance hospital based.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Oh okay, well this is hospital based. What you're saying
- 19:44Speaker 2: was no, but they're saying in Cincinnati, Ohio.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Well, I do know who you're talking about that group
- 19:50Speaker 1: of people first aid responders that were mobile out of
- 19:54Speaker 1: and it.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Was like, yes, you know, and but you know what
- 19:58Speaker 3: I'm saying, like, once again, we're not mad about that,
- 20:01Speaker 3: we're not even stressing about that. Only thing we was
- 20:03Speaker 3: worried about is saving freaking lie.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Right, that's it.
- 20:08Speaker 3: That's it. Okay, you use it and you can do it. Okay,
- 20:11Speaker 3: you can mobilize it. That is awesome. You know what
- 20:13Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like, I don't want you to say, oh,
- 20:15Speaker 3: every time you take something this black person is black. No, no, no, no.
- 20:19Speaker 3: What I'm only saying is, don't desensitize it to the
- 20:22Speaker 3: point where you have to take it away because somebody
- 20:25Speaker 3: is hurt, somebody feelings it's hurt.
- 20:28Speaker 1: And let me let me just ask a question here
- 20:33Speaker 1: that there's no longer Uncle Ben on the Uncle Ben's
- 20:36Speaker 1: rice or aunt Jemima on that has that made a
- 20:41Speaker 1: difference in any way, shape or form about anything.
- 20:44Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, I mean like people still taking
- 20:48Speaker 3: them bags and dumping them out in the water, and
- 20:50Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, let them bubble, you know
- 20:51Speaker 3: what I'm saying, and pick them up, you know, and
- 20:52Speaker 3: put some butter on them, you know what I'm saying
- 20:54Speaker 3: through some pop chops and some poking beans, yes, sir,
- 20:57Speaker 3: and some Giffy cornbread too. Hello, got put in you know.
- 21:02Speaker 3: He gotta make it right, gotta make it right.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I remember Jiffy corn Jiffy corn bread, because I told you.
- 21:07Speaker 1: The grocery store I worked at was in a black neighborhood.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Hello.
- 21:11Speaker 1: And that's where I learned about soul food because mister Purdy,
- 21:15Speaker 1: who was an assistant store manager but the full time
- 21:18Speaker 1: produce manager, and he was also a player.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Hell, okay, all the ladies were coming, yes.
- 21:23Speaker 1: And with that, they'd all come in and he'd be like,
- 21:27Speaker 1: what's you know. I was thought there's going to be
- 21:30Speaker 1: a you know, a sex scene on the produce aisle.
- 21:33Speaker 1: But he he would always have these big gatherings at
- 21:37Speaker 1: his house and he goes, you guys need to come over,
- 21:40Speaker 1: and he'd invite us, you know, and uh, you know,
- 21:43Speaker 1: I'm talking about us, the high school stock crew guys.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Yeah, they were like where you live and he goes, well, okay,
- 21:53Speaker 4: he goes, I'm gonna have this during the daylight.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Don't worry, Hello, but don't see like a lot of people,
- 21:59Speaker 3: don't go. You know what I'm saying, Like, if you
- 22:02Speaker 3: are ever ever invited to the Black Cookout, you go,
- 22:06Speaker 3: you go. Just don't bring nothing. Do not bring nothing.
- 22:10Speaker 1: You are taking words out of my eyes.
- 22:12Speaker 3: If you want to bring something, bring some ice, bring
- 22:14Speaker 3: some plastic falks, make sure they wrapped up though, you
- 22:18Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. That's it, and bring your appetite,
- 22:21Speaker 3: and bring your appetite.
- 22:22Speaker 1: And I was turned on to so much good stuff
- 22:25Speaker 1: and just something I still eat to this day. Of course,
- 22:29Speaker 1: you know, born both of us born and raised in Florida. Yes,
- 22:33Speaker 1: but that doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna pick up on
- 22:36Speaker 1: all the Deep South traditional cooking and stuff.
- 22:39Speaker 3: At that part. I mean, like it's so much, you
- 22:42Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. But the little dude, A lot
- 22:44Speaker 3: of people realize that we are so much alike until
- 22:48Speaker 3: it's not even funny, you know what I'm saying. Because
- 22:49Speaker 3: we was raised up with yes ma'am, no, ma'am, yes sir,
- 22:53Speaker 3: no sir, were raised up with a handshake. Were raised
- 22:56Speaker 3: up there certain people you could shake hands because everybody
- 22:59Speaker 3: knew what they was. And they said, okay, well you
- 23:02Speaker 3: leave old Joe alone. Over there because Joe ain't too steady,
- 23:05Speaker 3: but he lies and he drank a little bit. But though,
- 23:07Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, like, if he shows up
- 23:09Speaker 3: the work, he can work. Give him this and give
- 23:11Speaker 3: him that. And that's how we used to run off
- 23:13Speaker 3: of stuff back in the days. Now, I mean like
- 23:16Speaker 3: it took me like three months for a background check. Yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 3: but no, at the same time, you know.
- 23:22Speaker 2: That background has some pass though.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Hello, if you just tune in Paramour Brown as our
- 23:27Speaker 1: host or a guest today.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to go to the restroom. You already
- 23:31Speaker 2: wrap this up because I did not mention that the
- 23:34Speaker 2: cruise ended with I got the norovirus.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah no, no, no, no, it was before.
- 23:40Speaker 2: But now anyway, so Jesus paraboars are our guest, and.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Anyway, this type of conversation we're having right now is
- 23:49Speaker 1: what I'm hoping we can capture on occasion during the
- 23:54Speaker 1: regular segment we're gonna have with you called Diary of
- 23:56Speaker 1: a Black Man, So we're all on the same page.
- 23:58Speaker 1: That's what we're gonna do.
- 23:59Speaker 2: But it doesn't have to be like a power of
- 24:01Speaker 2: the people kind of thing.
- 24:03Speaker 1: No, that is I'm saying this type of stuff on occasion,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I think is very helpful to a lot.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Of people to educate a ton of people.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah right, And it's it's good info to have because
- 24:16Speaker 1: you're seeing a different perspective on things that maybe you've
- 24:19Speaker 1: had drilled into your head. Well it's this way or
- 24:21Speaker 1: that way, or they feel this way or that not necessarily.
- 24:24Speaker 2: So yeah, look, just for the record.
- 24:27Speaker 1: He's taking his toilet paper with him. Now are you
- 24:30Speaker 1: going into that bathroom that you were competing about before?
- 24:34Speaker 1: All right, all right, going down to flos I mean, Paramore,
- 24:37Speaker 1: will wrap this thing up here. But uh, all right, Taco,

- 25:09Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, no different. I mean like he.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Said, are you under Daytona five hundred this weekend?
- 25:16Speaker 3: I don't know, but I just got something about Lena
- 25:19Speaker 3: Skinner and yeah, yeah, you're gonna go to that yoh yes,
- 25:24Speaker 3: oh yeah, oh yes, Like we used to park cars
- 25:28Speaker 3: at the They used to call him the Rock Bowls
- 25:30Speaker 3: back in the days, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 25:32Speaker 3: and uh, but Lena Skinner did a lot of stuff
- 25:34Speaker 3: up in Jacksonville.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Of course that's where they're from.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Yes, hello, and I was the black guy that was
- 25:41Speaker 3: parking the cars and going back to Rock super Bowls. Hello, yes, yes,
- 25:44Speaker 3: I mean like I meant, well, I didn't met Ted Nuges.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I'm kind of scared of him.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Because he's cool.
- 25:50Speaker 3: He's harmless, dude, Yeah, until you see him throw an
- 25:54Speaker 3: axe thirty feet and pull out freaking bowls and shoot.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Well, he's a big hunter on his big ranch and not.
- 26:01Speaker 3: At a concert, not at a freaking cut said.
- 26:04Speaker 1: The last two times I've seen him there was he
- 26:06Speaker 1: wasn't throwing any axes or.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Oh yeah no, yeah can't. We're gonna take any pick up.
- 26:11Speaker 1: But well, yeah he could still play, and he doesn't
- 26:15Speaker 1: tour like he used to, but he still be shows
- 26:16Speaker 1: here and there.
- 26:17Speaker 3: The mad Man for reason, all right, he I mean like,
- 26:21Speaker 3: but once again, I appreciate this opportunity and and yes
