- 1:24Speaker 1: She had a good time, got home. Say anything like that.
- 1:27Speaker 1: She actually met some nice folk. She didn't happen well
- 1:31Speaker 1: and really quick, wait what are you drinking? Sorry, before
- 1:34Speaker 1: we get when Patrick came min last week, Oh ge Patre,

- 2:03Speaker 1: is it called? Hold on clickety clack. Oh, thank you.
- 2:09Speaker 1: When I a little earlier later, when I come home
- 2:12Speaker 1: from the gym, after I get to work out it
- 2:14Speaker 1: and I have some protein and everything mean and nick
- 2:16Speaker 1: a showered. Before I go to bed, I'll be having
- 2:18Speaker 1: some horse soldier straight bourbon, very good ship, bro, bro Bro.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I'm not a big straight bourbon guy, but that sounds
- 2:27Speaker 2: pretty good.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But yes, thank you. Yes, two years she got back
- 2:35Speaker 1: from work, surgeon, I'll say, met some very good people

- 3:12Speaker 1: scratched it? Anything else?
- 3:13Speaker 3: Do what?
- 3:14Speaker 1: Exciting? Whatever? Well, I didn't realize, I mean not that
- 3:19Speaker 1: I didn't know if it was my anniversary, but probably
- 3:20Speaker 1: should be talking about this, But what should we be
- 3:25Speaker 1: talking about my anniversary?
- 3:28Speaker 2: That's true, that's true.
- 3:30Speaker 1: But she has her book, She has her book boyfriends exactly,
- 3:35Speaker 1: you have your TV girlfriends.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And now you guys know what you can do for
- 3:39Speaker 2: Halloween next year?
- 3:41Speaker 1: And then I love you. Sorry, we're listening, but no,
- 3:43Speaker 1: just one girl baby anyway, before we get to the
- 3:50Speaker 1: slurp review of Penguin obviously, as we're talking about that's
- 3:52Speaker 1: what the title is. I know it's been a minute
- 3:54Speaker 1: since you've been on here. We talked a couple of
- 3:56Speaker 1: weeks ago about how me and Joe and Trevor came
- 3:59Speaker 1: out to visit you. Yes, we talked about the great
- 4:02Speaker 1: fucking name mad House in Maryland. We talked about that,
- 4:07Speaker 1: but uh, what else is new and exciting in your life?
- 4:10Speaker 1: It's been a couple, say, about a month and a
- 4:13Speaker 1: half months, it's been anything.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I was pretty busy towards the end there, but
- 4:18Speaker 2: I did leave my job, needed some personal time to
- 4:22Speaker 2: just kind of reset and relax, which has been absolutely delightful.
- 4:29Speaker 1: And today I actually don't show that. Yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Well, I mean it's just a lot of late night gaming,
- 4:38Speaker 2: you know, doing the things that I haven't been able
- 4:41Speaker 2: to do in a while. But today I got indication
- 4:45Speaker 2: that I got a new job, and uh I'm waiting
- 4:48Speaker 2: to your officially. So yeah, very excited for that. Today
- 4:52Speaker 2: is a good day for both of us. And yeah,
- 4:58Speaker 2: now it's just relations enjoying the rest of uh November.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yes, No, it's good to have you back, but yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 1: it was also good to finally get to see you.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I mean not like you were asking me for years.
- 5:12Speaker 2: To come visit. Yeah, but now now you know what
- 5:15Speaker 2: what's out here?
- 5:16Speaker 3: No?
- 5:17Speaker 1: No, yeah, and what's funny is like obviously like we're
- 5:19Speaker 1: red and I talked about how we were just you know,
- 5:22Speaker 1: goofing off saying, oh yeah, we were we doing this again.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Next it's like, hey, what games are happy next year?
- 5:27Speaker 1: With the Bearers looking to a different game, and for
- 5:29Speaker 1: some fucking reason, they're coming out to you for a
- 5:32Speaker 1: third straight year. So like, and I read and I
- 5:36Speaker 1: told cal about that, and she's like, are you're sure
- 5:39Speaker 1: you read it right? And I'm like positive, and like
- 5:41Speaker 1: I was like, you know, like your wife says that
- 5:42Speaker 1: you're your partner says, you're like, wait, did I look
- 5:45Speaker 1: at it right? Like vonderable checked while I went on
- 5:48Speaker 1: her the phone with her making sure like I'm not crazy,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but yeah, no, we'll definitely am. I mean's pretty much
- 5:53Speaker 1: goes like I think, unless it's like Christmas, which I
- 5:55Speaker 1: don't think they make that a Christmas game, we're I think, yeah,
- 5:58Speaker 1: we're pretty much coming out there. I mean who else,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I mean, someone from that show might be already moved
- 6:03Speaker 1: off their hints hints wink, wink, hint hint. I think
- 6:09Speaker 1: I won't get into that, but I think it's I
- 6:10Speaker 1: think it's pretty much inevitable. Like fans anyway, Yes, I'm
- 6:13Speaker 1: glad you're telling we'll get right into it. I don't
- 6:18Speaker 1: want to keep you too on here, We'll got for
- 6:20Speaker 1: maybe a noworth that. But yes, so we are doing
- 6:24Speaker 1: sup review of the Penguin. No I pause there, God Like,
- 6:34Speaker 1: let me just say this obviously, Yes, this is a
- 6:39Speaker 1: show associated with a super superpero superhero ip. This is
- 6:44Speaker 1: a continuation of the Robert Pant's Batman film. No spoiler
- 6:48Speaker 1: and really quick, as always with any superview spoilers, fucking
- 6:52Speaker 1: expect it part of my French anyway, moving along, there
- 6:57Speaker 1: is no Batman in this show. They never tease him
- 7:01Speaker 1: well to the lawyer last second, they don't tease him
- 7:04Speaker 1: at all. And I think, let me just say this,
- 7:07Speaker 1: I cannot believe that a show like this, a concept
- 7:14Speaker 1: where it's like we're going to make a show solely
- 7:16Speaker 1: based on just a bad guy, a villain of a
- 7:20Speaker 1: major hero, could do so well and end so well
- 7:26Speaker 1: where the whole time obviously with and it's it's just
- 7:29Speaker 1: human nature. Whenever you watch a show, you identify with
- 7:32Speaker 1: certain characters, you get drawn to certain characters, You want
- 7:35Speaker 1: certain characters to pull out and win in the end.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I can't believe this show kept making me go every
- 7:42Speaker 1: week wanting to go, what the fuck is Oswald gonna
- 7:45Speaker 1: do this week? You know, he's the title character.
- 7:48Speaker 2: He's a fucking asshole, yep, but an asshole you grow
- 7:53Speaker 2: to love.
- 7:54Speaker 3: And I mean.
- 8:00Speaker 2: You knew from from episode one, Yeah you knew it
- 8:04Speaker 2: was inevitable. No, but they did such a good fucking job,
- 8:11Speaker 2: not only directing, writing and chef's kiss to the acting.
- 8:19Speaker 2: They played your heartstrings. They they got to with their
- 8:26Speaker 2: side of hand. You're like, Okay, Oswald's bad. I know
- 8:30Speaker 2: this episode one he's he's just gonna be a dick
- 8:32Speaker 2: this whole time. Fuck, no, you grew to love him.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And then they're like, oh, yeah we did. He forget
- 8:38Speaker 2: Oswalt's bad.
- 8:40Speaker 1: That's that's that. There were so many times they would
- 8:42Speaker 1: like you would start like that. That's that was the
- 8:44Speaker 1: best part. It was like it wasn't like a good
- 8:45Speaker 1: tity was like like uh oh, what's a good way
- 8:48Speaker 1: to like a good I'm that analogy like you know,
- 8:50Speaker 1: like like oh, like that he has those qualities. You
- 8:53Speaker 1: know we've all heard that like in a movie stuff
- 8:55Speaker 1: like that, Like oh they had those calls, but they
- 8:56Speaker 1: keep going back to the douchebag dude, like there were
- 8:59Speaker 1: so many times that you would like get drawn to
- 9:02Speaker 1: this character of like the good like oh this, like oh,
- 9:04Speaker 1: I can see myself kind of like liking this guy
- 9:06Speaker 1: because you know he loves his man and like, you know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: you love all this stuff. Ma, I know, I called
- 9:12Speaker 1: my mom for me. It was kind of funny sometimes
- 9:18Speaker 1: literally like my mom she just she just finished it
- 9:20Speaker 1: literally last night, and like last week I was talking
- 9:22Speaker 1: to her. I'm like, hey mon, I'm like, oh wait,
- 9:24Speaker 1: what She's like, what's wrong with you? Like nothing, nothing,
- 9:28Speaker 1: because she didn't watch it all. She didn't watch any
- 9:29Speaker 1: of until last weekend. But there were so many times
- 9:32Speaker 1: he would like have these like qualities, these like moments
- 9:34Speaker 1: of like like I'm not gonna say soulsye, but just
- 9:37Speaker 1: like you know, like like heartwarming moments where you're like, oh, man,
- 9:39Speaker 1: like this truly is a guy who just cares about
- 9:41Speaker 1: his family. And it gets really quick. Really sorry for
- 9:45Speaker 1: you to say something with any some review. Yeah, we
- 9:47Speaker 1: kind of go in between, don't do episode by episode.
- 9:48Speaker 1: We somebot what we like and like what the best
- 9:50Speaker 1: parts were and shit like that, because we actually I mean,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I mean not we meet. I would like if anyone
- 9:55Speaker 1: who has listened to it, which I mean, obviously thank
- 9:57Speaker 1: you for listen, but why the same as a spoiler,
- 9:59Speaker 1: but like we would want you to go watch it
- 10:01Speaker 1: because like that's just how good it was, the fact
- 10:04Speaker 1: that there were so many times you would get they
- 10:05Speaker 1: would literally draw you in and you're like, oh my god,
- 10:08Speaker 1: like I'm starting to like like this guy. And then
- 10:10Speaker 1: the way they would just punch you in the face
- 10:13Speaker 1: with some heinous act what he would do was so
- 10:17Speaker 1: perfectly written, perfectly shot that like it just like follows.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I'll get right into it right away. They say like, yeah,
- 10:26Speaker 1: he has no family, just has his math, and but
- 10:29Speaker 1: he had three brothers, and you hear that they died
- 10:32Speaker 1: very young. You're like, oh what happened? Like what hate?
- 10:34Speaker 1: Because my first thought was, I mean, I'm a huge
- 10:38Speaker 1: Batman fanatic. Drew knows that there's a lot of the
- 10:41Speaker 1: backstories of characters in the famous Batman Rogues gallery where
- 10:45Speaker 1: they're kind of the same if the like, you know,
- 10:47Speaker 1: they sometimes they change comics or whatever, and then there's
- 10:49Speaker 1: different storylines on plot points. Some are pretty much just
- 10:52Speaker 1: say the penguin, Ah, that's one of those ones where
- 10:56Speaker 1: like one thing, it's this way the other thing's complete opposite.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But what I love about this was all this whole time,
- 11:02Speaker 1: it was this guy just truly loves his mother, wants
- 11:04Speaker 1: what's best for her. No one knows about her, and
- 11:08Speaker 1: all you know is that his brothers died, and it
- 11:10Speaker 1: was like it was like what the episode six or seven,
- 11:14Speaker 1: they finally they finally show it, and you're thinking, fuck,
- 11:19Speaker 1: these kids are handling his mom's game business thing where
- 11:22Speaker 1: she's working for the game for some reason, and you're
- 11:25Speaker 1: going to get money or something like that, and you're thinking,
- 11:28Speaker 1: I like the whole time thing like they're gonna get
- 11:29Speaker 1: shot to be a drive by.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And then get to the right to the point. They're
- 11:34Speaker 2: playing in a sewer and Oz has a been the.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Reason he's called the penguin is because well he's got
- 11:39Speaker 1: a weird kind of face and also he has like
- 11:40Speaker 1: a gimp h deformed foot were just the other way
- 11:44Speaker 1: to say it, unfortunately, and they hide in the sewer
- 11:48Speaker 1: below him or ray was it a drainage? What was it?
- 11:52Speaker 2: It was the overflow?
- 11:54Speaker 1: Drain overflow, think drink, thank you, and he locks him in.
- 11:59Speaker 2: During instrum, a massive reinstrum, and then.
- 12:02Speaker 1: He goes home and he fucking leoked him drowned.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, this guy was.
- 12:12Speaker 1: So enamored with just wanting his mom to only love
- 12:16Speaker 1: him that he not I'm not gonna say, and fully
- 12:21Speaker 1: intentionally kill his brothers.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Oh he knew, he knew what was gonna happen, and he.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Fucking murdered his brothers. Was it so high right now?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Because I literally, by the way, who were the fuck
- 12:35Speaker 1: that kid is? Whoever that kid actor is? When they
- 12:38Speaker 1: need to do Batman again in thirty years, there's your
- 12:42Speaker 1: fucking pick. The guy was literally perfect as a kid penguin.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Oh my god. I that went to me like that
- 12:51Speaker 1: was the most shocked. Like there was a lot of
- 12:52Speaker 1: shocking moments on the show, but that was like the
- 12:54Speaker 1: most I'm not gonna say, like the most like disturbing
- 12:57Speaker 1: shocking moment. I'll talk about that a little bit later,
- 13:00Speaker 1: but for me, that was like the most like holy shit,
- 13:04Speaker 1: Like I literally the pause the TV go, holy shit,
- 13:07Speaker 1: he killed his brothers.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I I I expected him to somehow play a
- 13:13Speaker 2: part in it, but I was not expecting that until
- 13:18Speaker 2: they went into the sewers. As soon as they're into
- 13:20Speaker 2: the sewers, I was like, fuck, this is where they.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Die, but then how they died. I was kind of
- 13:26Speaker 3: shocked at. I was like, he just walks away, like
- 13:31Speaker 3: walks away. He just he just walks away.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And the way they shot it where you keep going
- 13:36Speaker 1: back to him and his mom watching and yes, I
- 13:39Speaker 1: know fred I aris unlistairs something. Think of the exactly
- 13:42Speaker 1: last name. They're watching a classic move from Fred Alice there,
- 13:45Speaker 1: the famous dancer slash actor. And they keep going back
- 13:49Speaker 1: to this, to the overflowed drain that's locked, and you
- 13:53Speaker 1: hear this, brothers, this is getting weaker because they're getting
- 13:57Speaker 1: they're getting more filled with water.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And then the silence.
- 14:01Speaker 1: No, but here's here's the gree that if he listens
- 14:04Speaker 1: to the last part where there's silence, you could hear
- 14:07Speaker 1: the bodies rubbing up against it.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I did not hear that.
- 14:12Speaker 1: No, I didn't hear that till I saw someone post something.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I'm like and I literally like, okay, I'm not gonna
- 14:17Speaker 1: go on Twitter and look at it. I literally turned
- 14:19Speaker 1: it on and I went to that scene. If you
- 14:22Speaker 1: fucking listen quietly, you just hear just kids. I was like,
- 14:31Speaker 1: don't show him drowning like you can you can hear it,
- 14:34Speaker 1: clearest day and I just again went, holy ship, this
- 14:38Speaker 1: show is fucked. Oh my god. But yeah, dude, And
- 14:44Speaker 1: then of course, like I mean, and we'll get right
- 14:45Speaker 1: in to the Drew NIC's favorite part of the show.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Vic not kidding, I mean that's everyone else by the show. Nah,
- 14:54Speaker 1: Sophia felt now fuck Falconie Gigante man. How missus Mosby
- 15:03Speaker 1: has a wal? I guess.
- 15:10Speaker 2: The acting in this Chef's Kiss, both Colin and Kristen. Honestly,
- 15:16Speaker 2: even Rinsey nailed. It's Victor who played or yeah?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 15:22Speaker 2: I think overall that was what I liked the most
- 15:27Speaker 2: and what shocked me the most of the show was
- 15:30Speaker 2: the writing and acting because initially I was not going
- 15:35Speaker 2: to watch this show because I saw DC. I saw
- 15:38Speaker 2: a TV show and I saw a penguin and I
- 15:40Speaker 2: was like, yeah no. But after watching the trailer, I
- 15:45Speaker 2: was like, okay, okay, I was bored. One day popped
- 15:49Speaker 2: on the first episode to give it a go. Instantly
- 15:52Speaker 2: I was like, this is gonna be some good ship.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I ended up binging four episodes of the five that
- 16:00Speaker 2: were out at the time that night. And to your
- 16:07Speaker 2: point about the DC TV, like d C has had
- 16:10Speaker 2: and again, here's the thing, too. This is also HPO
- 16:13Speaker 2: but like d C does have that bad taste in
- 16:15Speaker 2: the mouth.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Obviously, now underlu leadership of like everything they produce is
- 16:20Speaker 1: either mid or garbage by the majority of audiences. But
- 16:25Speaker 1: keep in mind this is following up the Batman Pattinson movie,
- 16:28Speaker 1: which got ray reviews critics made almost a billion dollars
- 16:31Speaker 1: and all that, especially like Right to Tale the Pandemic,
- 16:34Speaker 1: and obviously it was all about Colin Farrell's penguin, who
- 16:37Speaker 1: was one of the highlights of the film. But it's
- 16:40Speaker 1: still like, hmm, we're doing again, We're doing a d
- 16:44Speaker 1: C TV show because the only other good d d
- 16:48Speaker 1: C TV show might I mean Smallville? Okay, I'll give
- 16:52Speaker 1: you that one, but like the only good and I
- 16:54Speaker 1: don't know if you watched Peacemaker of John Cena, that
- 16:56Speaker 1: shows fun. But again, ye, but under James gun regime.
- 17:00Speaker 1: You know, James Gunn had nothing to do with this.
- 17:01Speaker 1: He's obviously just the person who's green lighting shit. Matt
- 17:04Speaker 1: Rees is fully matt Reees baby, even though he had
- 17:07Speaker 1: nothing to do with the writing, he just was producing everything.
- 17:11Speaker 1: This is one of those shows that shows you that
- 17:13Speaker 1: when you have talented people who are passionate about the
- 17:17Speaker 1: project and those talented people who are in the lead,
- 17:20Speaker 1: higher talented people to direct, who then higher talented people
- 17:24Speaker 1: to write this is what you're going to get. I
- 17:28Speaker 1: have nothing. I don't mean any disrespect against any other
- 17:31Speaker 1: TV shows. If Colin and Chris and CHRISTI better are,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I think it's a lot they're gonna be nominated if
- 17:37Speaker 1: they don't win the Emmy. I don't know what the
- 17:39Speaker 1: fuck is going on. And this isn't for a fact
- 17:42Speaker 1: that like you know, like, uh, what do you call it?
- 17:45Speaker 3: That?
- 17:46Speaker 1: Like, oh, they just played such good bad guys on TV?
- 17:49Speaker 1: Just okay, R Anyway, what is Sophia Gagante's admission tape
- 17:54Speaker 1: to for the Emmys. It's the episode where she's in Arkham.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And that's all I need to say. Yeah, because that
- 18:01Speaker 1: was my favorite episode, as fucked up as it was,
- 18:04Speaker 1: because I'm a Batman fanatic and all anyone wants is
- 18:08Speaker 1: just a deep dive into Arkham, which we were going
- 18:10Speaker 1: to get. But I guess it's kind of been shelved now,
- 18:12Speaker 1: especially with like a lot of strikes and shit like that. Unfortunately,
- 18:15Speaker 1: but like that, that that episode of just her and
- 18:18Speaker 1: Arkham was so fucked up and so messed up, but
- 18:21Speaker 1: so like intriguing that like you left wanting more. But
- 18:27Speaker 1: it's like do you really want to watch these people
- 18:29Speaker 1: get fucking tortured? No?
- 18:30Speaker 2: But it makes them who they are curiosity, yes, And
- 18:39Speaker 2: I just don't.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I don't. And again I obviously like the Emmys are't
- 18:42Speaker 1: gonna be for a while and shit like that. But
- 18:43Speaker 1: it's just like it's just you're here anything. Everything you're
- 18:46Speaker 1: hearing about the show times it by four. But again,
- 18:49Speaker 1: everyone is a bad mineus Vic Vick is just a
- 18:52Speaker 1: kid who just unfortunately literally felt I mean, which we
- 18:57Speaker 1: all can relate because we all, I mean either were
- 18:59Speaker 1: we were those people are areless people or we know
- 19:01Speaker 1: those people who just fell into the wrong crowd. And
- 19:04Speaker 1: that's literally who Vic is in this show, yep. And
- 19:09Speaker 1: he fell into has no family. His parents were killed
- 19:12Speaker 1: by the Riddular and the massive explosion flood thing that
- 19:15Speaker 1: happened the Bandman movie, and then he got caught by
- 19:18Speaker 1: Penguin trying to steal his rims and then Penguin to
- 19:20Speaker 1: wonder his wing and like the whole show, other than Math,
- 19:24Speaker 1: that was the only person Penguin cared about.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Us a girl, his girl, oh yeah, well his yeah,
- 19:31Speaker 2: his girl yet but I forget her name? I uh
- 19:35Speaker 2: was it nally No, it's gonna gross, yeah, but I
- 19:41Speaker 2: can pull it up to.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Getting clack where the fuck are you? But anyway, yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 1: but like Eve, thank you, even Eve, even fun. Even
- 19:51Speaker 1: the smallest characters in this show like had their purpose
- 19:56Speaker 1: even though majority of him got whacked. Yeah, but and
- 20:03Speaker 1: it just shows this is like, this is like the
- 20:05Speaker 1: problem that like I'm not saying Marbles that have good
- 20:08Speaker 1: TV shows from the Marvels Heavy where it's like there's
- 20:12Speaker 1: so many like or if anything, that's the Marbles's biggest
- 20:15Speaker 1: problem is that with the newest uh saga if you will,
- 20:18Speaker 1: there is no quote no I mean, I don't mean
- 20:21Speaker 1: to be ironic endgame where it's like, what is this
- 20:24Speaker 1: leading to? What is the purpose of this?
- 20:26Speaker 2: Well, this was a show of just was hey, uh,
- 20:29Speaker 2: the main crime lord from the Batman movie is dead.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Everyone's going forward hit the pie. That's it, And you're
- 20:36Speaker 1: gonna follow this one dude, who, by the way, we're
- 20:38Speaker 1: letting you know ahead of time, is an asshole. But
- 20:40Speaker 1: we're gonna make you love this asshole. But we're also
- 20:43Speaker 1: gonna make you realize a couple of times throughout the
- 20:45Speaker 1: show that he's an asshole.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I mean my thing right now between Marvel and DC. Yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 2: and I just finished Agatha Alone, which which I did enjoy,
- 20:56Speaker 2: But that's very like whimsical, like happy family kind of TV, right,
- 21:03Speaker 2: and this is very like serious. Yeah, And I don't know.
- 21:11Speaker 2: To me, I like that better, like especially with like
- 21:18Speaker 2: DC comics, Like, yeah, I loved Batman as a kid.
- 21:23Speaker 2: You know, there's gonna be kids all around the world
- 21:25Speaker 2: that love Batman still. But when you can make it
- 21:29Speaker 2: an adult show, you can understand and capture the extreme
- 21:38Speaker 2: dynamics that are going in Gotham, you know, like when
- 21:42Speaker 2: they fucking blew Johnny Vet's head off, Like you know,
- 21:46Speaker 2: you can't do that if it's a kid show. But
- 21:49Speaker 2: it illustrates where Sophia was coming from, you know, what
- 21:53Speaker 2: she was trying to illustrate how she was going to
- 21:56Speaker 2: change from the Falcones to the Chacandes, Like it was
- 22:03Speaker 2: important to have that scene, and you can't do that
- 22:07Speaker 2: in a family friendly show.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I mean, here's the thing. And I think this is,
- 22:11Speaker 1: if anything, this is the perfect example of a I mean,
- 22:15Speaker 1: it is what a superhero show because it isn't that genre.
- 22:20Speaker 1: That's showing you what limits you can take a show
- 22:26Speaker 1: almost because here's the thing, you can almost make the
- 22:30Speaker 1: argument that some Marvel products out there, they're not too
- 22:34Speaker 1: far off from what Penguin did. It's just obviously every
- 22:37Speaker 1: third word in the show is fuck because a good fuck.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Ma.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because there's no there's no there's no sex scenes,
- 22:45Speaker 1: there's no Game of Thrones and crazy shits. I mean, yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 1: there's some brutal violent kills, but you could say Marvel
- 22:51Speaker 1: has the exact same thing. It's there's not a bunch
- 22:53Speaker 1: of blood spewing that in certain places, because that's the
- 22:56Speaker 1: thing that's that's with time, you know what I mean.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Like with time, like things evolve, we essentially as generations
- 23:04Speaker 1: grow older, we line up a bit, you know what
- 23:07Speaker 1: I mean. Like again, like you cann't fathom seeing like
- 23:11Speaker 1: a you know, a man or a woman having a
- 23:14Speaker 1: sex scene. Back in the seventies, it said what they
- 23:16Speaker 1: would do. They'd show him kissing and it would fain
- 23:18Speaker 1: the black as they walk into a bedroom and then
- 23:21Speaker 1: James Bond they would just show them doing stuff in bed,
- 23:24Speaker 1: but nothing happens. But now we have scenes in like
- 23:26Speaker 1: shows where it's like this is this is on Hulu, right,
- 23:31Speaker 1: Like I'm not on some I'm not on my I'm
- 23:33Speaker 1: not on an internet site or something like that, you
- 23:34Speaker 1: know what I mean, well on lines. But like, but
- 23:38Speaker 1: I think that's what was awesome about the show because like,
- 23:42Speaker 1: as not even just a generate, but as a culture,
- 23:44Speaker 1: we're becoming more acceptable to seeing things not even just
- 23:48Speaker 1: like in a locked room on a silver screen, just
- 23:53Speaker 1: on our television, Like this was a television show. Like
- 23:56Speaker 1: if you had HBO on your regular cable whatever, this
- 24:00Speaker 1: show came on there. It was on there. Anyone can
- 24:03Speaker 1: watch it, your kids could watch it. Obviously majority of
- 24:05Speaker 1: the people watched it on Max where it was streams
- 24:07Speaker 1: and stuff like that. But yeah, no, and I think
- 24:10Speaker 1: and and I think it's not even that like people
- 24:15Speaker 1: you or myself at our age were, Yeah, we're obviously
- 24:18Speaker 1: going to be pulled more towards this show because it's
- 24:20Speaker 1: more a realistic show. And also I think it's just
- 24:24Speaker 1: because like it's obviously something new because Marvel, there's just
- 24:26Speaker 1: so much shit to get caught up on and pay
- 24:27Speaker 1: attention to. It's harder for someone us to do that now,
- 24:30Speaker 1: even like the hard I know, like I love the
- 24:32Speaker 1: MCUO I do. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna say it.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I was not gonna say it's not a weak spot
- 24:36Speaker 1: right now. But I even know people who are way
- 24:38Speaker 1: crazy about the MCO than I am, and they're like,
- 24:41Speaker 1: let me get back to you.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Yeah, honestly, I only watched Agatha all along because it
- 24:48Speaker 2: was like Halloween time and I had watched WandaVision and
- 24:52Speaker 2: enjoyed it right Outside of that, I have got no
- 24:55Speaker 2: idea what's going on in them CU know how everythings
- 24:59Speaker 2: tied together.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm the same way I. I've definitely seen more
- 25:04Speaker 1: than you, just based off of that comment from what
- 25:06Speaker 1: come out from the MCU. But like it's like I said,
- 25:09Speaker 1: there's no you don't need to have a giant franchise
- 25:13Speaker 1: and have everything leading to one again endgame. Marvel did that.
- 25:18Speaker 1: They did that for twelve to.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Fifteen years with their twenty something movies at all.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Lat to fanos, it made sense. The problem is they're
- 25:25Speaker 1: doing that now where it's like they're all connected, but
- 25:28Speaker 1: it's but no one's telling you why why it was connected?
- 25:31Speaker 1: Oh just because you want to call the multiverse, why
- 25:34Speaker 1: you want to call the multiverse just because we can
- 25:36Speaker 1: have Spider Man in here, or we got to go
- 25:37Speaker 1: out Andrew Garfi here for twenty minutes. Ye, okay, that
- 25:40Speaker 1: that happened. That was cool.
- 25:42Speaker 2: We all freaked out. But now it's like where are
- 25:44Speaker 2: we going now? And it's like there's no one's telling you.
- 25:46Speaker 1: But now it's like, oh, we're bringing Robert Downie back,
- 25:48Speaker 1: but he's not playing Iron Man, he's playing doctor doing.
- 25:50Speaker 2: It's like, okay, how are you to explain that? Okay,
- 25:52Speaker 2: we'll tell you, But it's like the movie comes.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Out in like a year and a half and we
- 25:58Speaker 1: have no there's not even a There's not even a
- 26:01Speaker 1: like foreshadowing or a reason to get to that point,
- 26:04Speaker 1: like there was a fanos. We don't know why.
- 26:06Speaker 2: There's gonna be like hey here's here's Downy. It's like
- 26:08Speaker 2: why is he here? Oh no, I mean I know they're.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Going to explain it more than that, but it's like
- 26:13Speaker 1: instead of like taking all these twelve products you've released
- 26:17Speaker 1: since Endgame to get to that point, obviously there's a
- 26:20Speaker 1: lot more parameters as to why they're bringing Downy back.
- 26:22Speaker 1: I'm not gonnaing to that, but like you're just gonna shoehorn.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Well you could you You're just gonna put like all
- 26:27Speaker 1: this information in like two products that you when you
- 26:29Speaker 1: could have done it for seven eight like you did before.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Well, I think that also might be why Penguin feels
- 26:38Speaker 2: so good is because you know, they just had the
- 26:42Speaker 2: new Batman boot right, so they they're the starting fresh
- 26:48Speaker 2: and this is like the immediate follow up, right, Like
- 26:51Speaker 2: there's two things to keep track of, you know, so
- 26:53Speaker 2: it's simplified, it's easy. You know, they loosely connect so
- 26:58Speaker 2: we understand what's going on on, but it's its own
- 27:02Speaker 2: story still, and you know that that. I wouldn't be
- 27:07Speaker 2: surprised if that's a major piece of why it was
- 27:09Speaker 2: so enjoyable, right, you know, I don't have to be like, oh,
- 27:13Speaker 2: did I watch the last five different shows to make
- 27:17Speaker 2: sure that I know what's going on in this show? Right?
- 27:22Speaker 1: Because and actually my uh was I think it was
- 27:27Speaker 1: kend Nasby. She's like, do I need when I if
- 27:31Speaker 1: I watch the show, or do I need to watch
- 27:32Speaker 1: or I actually I think do I need to watch
- 27:34Speaker 1: Batman to understand the show? I go no, But it
- 27:40Speaker 1: significantly helps if.
- 27:41Speaker 2: You do, see I've been telling people the opposite. But
- 27:45Speaker 2: but you don't have to though, yeah.
- 27:48Speaker 1: You don't have to because like the main the main
- 27:50Speaker 1: point that Batman was the stuff going between Batman and
- 27:52Speaker 1: the Riddler and then the stuff between Penguin and Carmine
- 27:56Speaker 1: Falcone that was to the side. But like, if you
- 27:59Speaker 1: want it's it's like this. It's kind of like like, hey,
- 28:01Speaker 1: if you like for any MCU project, like, hey, if
- 28:05Speaker 1: you watch all the projects, you're gonna know more shit.
- 28:09Speaker 1: That's the best way I say it. But like, yeah,
- 28:10Speaker 1: you don't need to be like you don't need to
- 28:12Speaker 1: watch The Batman or understanding the Penguin. I'm going to
- 28:16Speaker 1: encourage you to watch The Batman because it helps well,
- 28:20Speaker 1: because it's like this. It's like because it's where it's
- 28:22Speaker 1: like like, hey, why is this whole town like in
- 28:24Speaker 1: a slumber well, you know what I mean. But it's
- 28:28Speaker 1: not none, none of the there's not a lot of
- 28:30Speaker 1: things from The Batman that our main plot points in
- 28:33Speaker 1: this show other than the fact that Carmine Falcone is dead.
- 28:37Speaker 1: That's been Riddler blew up the sea wall. Yeah, and
- 28:40Speaker 1: then that's why the whole city was flooded. And now
- 28:42Speaker 1: because Falcone is dead, the whole city was flooded. The
- 28:46Speaker 1: drug rain essentially is wide open, and it's like who's
- 28:51Speaker 1: gonna take over? And of course all the people who
- 28:54Speaker 1: work with him want to want to take it. Carmine
- 28:57Speaker 1: Felcon's son wants to take it. Man, was that a
- 29:00Speaker 1: short live appearance? Of course, Sophia wants to take a
- 29:04Speaker 1: chickens out of Arkham four reasons like wait, why are
- 29:06Speaker 1: you an Arkham? Wink wink, you know what I mean.
- 29:08Speaker 1: And it's just a giant power struggle, which again that's
- 29:13Speaker 1: all people need. We don't need to have I mean
- 29:14Speaker 1: doing wrong. I'm a huge fan of Iron Man, spik
- 29:17Speaker 1: him as much as the next guy, but like, yeah,
- 29:19Speaker 1: just give him us four to five characters who all
- 29:21Speaker 1: want to take over and they're fucking going after each other. Great, Yeah,
- 29:24Speaker 1: I don't need to have a bunch of a fitty
- 29:26Speaker 1: Stones or fucking twenty other people in the subplots who
- 29:30Speaker 1: might join at some point. No, because give me one
- 29:32Speaker 1: thing with five six people and boom. I mean again,
- 29:35Speaker 1: because I remember og patron answer. He's like, how would
- 29:37Speaker 1: you describe the show? And go literally just imagine the Sopranos,
- 29:41Speaker 1: but it has a lot of breaking bad influence. They're
- 29:46Speaker 1: all going, Yeah, that's the best way to say it,
- 29:51Speaker 1: because the people often forget Walter White and Tony Soprano
- 29:54Speaker 1: in those shows. They're bad people. Now, Walter White did
- 29:58Speaker 1: his thing for different rea since Colony did his things
- 30:01Speaker 1: for different reasons. But like, that's pretty much what the
- 30:05Speaker 1: show was. It was if sopranos and Bricky Bad came
- 30:08Speaker 1: together had a one night fun thing. And then here's
- 30:10Speaker 1: the Penguin.
- 30:15Speaker 2: For all the new listeners. I don't typically be like,
- 30:20Speaker 2: this is a must watch TV show, but Penguin is
- 30:23Speaker 2: definitely a must watch. Like, even if you're not into
- 30:27Speaker 2: DC and the comics and stuff, it in itself is
- 30:31Speaker 2: just a good TV show. It's not.
- 30:33Speaker 1: It's not. It's not. I mean, it's a great superhero show.
- 30:37Speaker 1: If you want to get down to sir, but you
- 30:39Speaker 1: don't even like seriously, you can just tell someone if
- 30:41Speaker 1: they don't even know what DC is, you can just
- 30:43Speaker 1: simply say it's a great TV show. Ye, sure, it
- 30:46Speaker 1: follows a superhero movie, but has this show has nothing
- 30:50Speaker 1: to do with a superhero. It is just a great
- 30:52Speaker 1: TV show about a drug war. That's all you gotta say.
- 30:55Speaker 2: And That's that's what I've been telling people.
- 30:57Speaker 3: I don't.
- 30:58Speaker 2: I don't normally go to friends and family and be like, hey,
- 31:01Speaker 2: like you should watch the TV show unless I think
- 31:04Speaker 2: it's a great show and people shouldn't watch it. But
- 31:08Speaker 2: I I've told my I'd tell you, even like to
- 31:14Speaker 2: my third circle, like hey go watch this.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I've I've had conversations about the show at work. Yeah, yes,
- 31:22Speaker 1: I've had conversations about a drug war at work. Drug
- 31:26Speaker 1: wore TV show.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Rather excuse me, I want to report you to HR.
- 31:31Speaker 2: You're a new one, but I am the new one.
- 31:35Speaker 1: I am the danger. I am the new HR. But yeah, no,
- 31:41Speaker 1: and it's just and then well, like I said, there's
- 31:44Speaker 1: there's so many things you get to talk about the show.
- 31:46Speaker 1: This stuff like with Odds relationship with his ma, which
- 31:50Speaker 1: which we found out, and like his mom is a
- 31:52Speaker 1: I guess I want to say a schizophrenic, but like
- 31:54Speaker 1: she has dementia Alzheimer's.
- 31:58Speaker 2: And like they don't ever actually that's the thing, they
- 31:59Speaker 2: don't actually saying what they did. No, they said a
- 32:04Speaker 2: couple of times, Uh, it's not Luke Garrett's but it's
- 32:09Speaker 2: something body disease.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Okay, But either way, like she has like she has
- 32:16Speaker 1: unfortunately this medical disability which really affects her membery and
- 32:18Speaker 1: their stuff also kind of like it like weird boorline
- 32:20Speaker 1: personality stores. Like one minute she's like, you know, like
- 32:23Speaker 1: I can't remember anything or like I take care of me.
- 32:25Speaker 1: In the next minute, she's like the fucking the thing
- 32:28Speaker 1: that drives him because she's.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Like, you're gonna take over this fucking murder. Everyone's like
- 32:32Speaker 2: what the fuck, Like, what.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Kind of mom is this? Like my mother never talked
- 32:37Speaker 1: to me like that. And again at the end, it's
- 32:40Speaker 1: revealed the whole time she knew that he killed his
- 32:42Speaker 1: brothers and she was actually gonna have him killed, but
- 32:45Speaker 1: then he gave this impassionate speech to her about like
- 32:47Speaker 1: how I'm gonna take gay you mom, I'm gonna put
- 32:49Speaker 1: you in at that presidential sweet math.
- 32:52Speaker 2: And again my my question to you though on that Yeah,
- 32:55Speaker 2: all right, season finale, Yes, Penthouse, Yes, tear drop, Yes,
- 33:03Speaker 2: what do you think the teardrop is for?
- 33:05Speaker 1: You mean, the the mom tear Ye. So at the
- 33:08Speaker 1: end of the show, she fortunately she stabbed. She tells
- 33:11Speaker 1: us she's on the whole time. After she's skin by
- 33:13Speaker 1: Sophia Sophia kind of like lets her go, but she's
- 33:15Speaker 1: like on this weird TI rated screaming and odds, and
- 33:17Speaker 1: then she breaks a bottle and stabs out in the stomach.
- 33:20Speaker 1: But then she sees her two boys as a kind
- 33:22Speaker 1: of like goat or like mirage or just mind fucked.
- 33:24Speaker 1: And then she she legitimately she has a stroke, and
- 33:28Speaker 1: then of course once Oz takes over, she's in the
- 33:31Speaker 1: top presential Sweezy promised and she has a tear drop.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I just think it was what I think it was
- 33:36Speaker 1: a callback because it was like the second episode.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I was like, like a couple of times she says,
- 33:40Speaker 2: I'm want to put you up in.
- 33:42Speaker 1: No No, But middle of the season, she literally begs
- 33:44Speaker 1: him if I ever become like a vegetable or something
- 33:46Speaker 1: like that, or don't let me get to that point
- 33:48Speaker 1: kill me.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Oh I forgot about that?
- 33:51Speaker 1: Is like, no, I'm not gonna do that. But he
- 33:54Speaker 1: just says he pretty much tells her yes eventually, just
- 33:56Speaker 1: to like, oh ship, I forgot about that.
- 33:59Speaker 2: One's the one thing she asked him, not that he
- 34:02Speaker 2: she did not want. She didn't want he, she did
- 34:05Speaker 2: not want him to let her get to that point.
- 34:08Speaker 1: But then she had a stroke after she stabbed him,
- 34:12Speaker 1: and and this is the thing I was trying to say,
- 34:16Speaker 1: this is the thing that sucked that, Like this is
- 34:18Speaker 1: like how shitty I'm not sure, like is a shitty person?
- 34:22Speaker 1: Like this is like where you kind of feel for him.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Every single time he's trying to do something, he does it,
- 34:28Speaker 1: but he can never share it what the person he's
- 34:31Speaker 1: trying to do it with. He was trying to do
- 34:33Speaker 1: all these things, trying to take over the drug reign
- 34:35Speaker 1: and all this stuff, get that presidential swet in top
- 34:37Speaker 1: building so his mom can Matt can live on the
- 34:40Speaker 1: top floor and have all these twords, never have to
- 34:41Speaker 1: worry about it. And right when finally, finally, finally he
- 34:47Speaker 1: gets all that for her, she can't enjoy it, to
- 34:50Speaker 1: which we'll get to the very disturbance scene here in
- 34:53Speaker 1: a little bit, but like, yeah, that's what the tear
- 34:56Speaker 1: drop was for, because like while she had, while she
- 34:58Speaker 1: got everything he promised her, he ultimately quote unquote broke
- 35:04Speaker 1: the last promise he made her where she will let
- 35:06Speaker 1: he wouldn't let her get to that point, which well,
- 35:08Speaker 1: if you watch the show, Oz is a compulsive liar
- 35:11Speaker 1: because he never does admit to her that he killed
- 35:14Speaker 1: his brothers.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Even though she knows. Everyone knows, even though.
- 35:18Speaker 1: She knows, and she's screaming at him, he knows she knows,
- 35:21Speaker 1: and he never he never says it, never tells vic,
- 35:24Speaker 1: never tells anyone that he's the one who locked his
- 35:26Speaker 1: brothers in that overflowed drain.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Or psychologically it's fascinating his character or.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Another thing, sally, another thing that Oz doesn't get. He
- 35:36Speaker 1: gets in this huge fight in a like a random
- 35:38Speaker 1: train car with Carmine. He's fighting him, Carmie that's actually
- 35:42Speaker 1: kicking his ass, and what happens, for some reason, Carmine
- 35:45Speaker 1: gets a fucking heart attack and just dies. And Oz
- 35:48Speaker 1: is like, no, he doesn't. He doesn't want to where
- 35:51Speaker 1: he died or he dies of a heart attack. He
- 35:52Speaker 1: wants to where he beats him. And he finally grabs
- 35:54Speaker 1: it by the collar as he's dead, and he goes,
- 35:56Speaker 1: I beat you. It's like, no, you did it. But then,
- 35:58Speaker 1: just to cold prove his point or so no one
- 36:00Speaker 1: asked questions, he puts a full fucking clip in him
- 36:02Speaker 1: even though he's dead already.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Like that.
- 36:04Speaker 1: That was the brilliant thing about this show is that
- 36:06Speaker 1: everything no matter what Oz tried to do, even though
- 36:09Speaker 1: he actually won in the end, he never got to
- 36:12Speaker 1: like essentially prove himself. You never got to prove himself
- 36:16Speaker 1: to or you never got to prove to the person
- 36:17Speaker 1: what he was trying to prove in the first place.
- 36:19Speaker 1: The only person he honestly probably did get that was
- 36:21Speaker 1: with Sophia because he did the fucking shitty drug war thing,
- 36:26Speaker 1: and he or drug war thing and he made a
- 36:27Speaker 1: deal with a politician and he got her arrested. But
- 36:31Speaker 1: like the main things he was trying to do where
- 36:33Speaker 1: it's like I'm trying to beat Falcone, he couldn't or
- 36:35Speaker 1: uh or me, yeah, technically a Falcone. He didn't get
- 36:37Speaker 1: kill because Rialther killed Falcone in the movie. Didn't get
- 36:40Speaker 1: to kill Carmine or Maron excuse me because he had
- 36:44Speaker 1: a heart attack. But he's like, no, I bid you,
- 36:46Speaker 1: I got you. It's like, nah, he didn't. But then
- 36:49Speaker 1: of course with his mom. But that's what the tear
- 36:51Speaker 1: drop was for.
- 36:52Speaker 2: So I thought it was her like her scene that
- 37:00Speaker 2: he made it like he finally got what he said.
- 37:05Speaker 2: So she said in that maybe she was sorry for
- 37:09Speaker 2: like doubting him. But then the brain mush makes sense, right,
- 37:14Speaker 2: and it could also be the the like hatred still
- 37:21Speaker 2: of like I.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Think I think I think it's a bit of both
- 37:24Speaker 1: of the latter, like like that say, she's not happy
- 37:25Speaker 1: for a time, but it's like like she had like
- 37:28Speaker 1: these memory issues that obviously kept going on and off
- 37:31Speaker 1: with like with her discibiling and stuff like that. But
- 37:33Speaker 1: I think and I think that's what ultimately killed there,
- 37:35Speaker 1: was like she if anything was like this for years,
- 37:38Speaker 1: she held all that in, She held all that in
- 37:41Speaker 1: that she hated, like she never loved him, She hated
- 37:45Speaker 1: him all this stuff the entire time, and she just
- 37:49Speaker 1: again she like literally like like like like a fucking
- 37:51Speaker 1: wrestling problem just unleashed on him the point where like
- 37:53Speaker 1: Sophia and like her goagers like center, like like let
- 37:56Speaker 1: her fucking do her thing. And then of course what
- 37:59Speaker 1: it ultimately ends with her snapping even on top of
- 38:01Speaker 1: her stamping already and taking an empty bottle and stabbing
- 38:05Speaker 1: Oz with it. And then she literally has a stroke
- 38:08Speaker 1: because all those emotions, all that adrenaline just finally, you know,
- 38:11Speaker 1: like essentially thirty forty years of pent up aggression just
- 38:16Speaker 1: came out of her in a matter of a second,
- 38:19Speaker 1: and then again the one promise that like she made
- 38:23Speaker 1: the or and not even that the last promise that
- 38:25Speaker 1: she made Oz give to her. He wouldn't. He wouldn't
- 38:29Speaker 1: he wouldn't live up to it even and he wouldn't
- 38:32Speaker 1: even tell her, Yeah, I killed my brothers. And that's
- 38:35Speaker 1: why I think that tear was and again and I
- 38:38Speaker 1: can't say that tier maybe wasn't both because like, yeah,
- 38:39Speaker 1: she got the presidential sweeping, like again, the one thing
- 38:41Speaker 1: she says, I don't want to live like that, and
- 38:44Speaker 1: she literally begged him and he says, I'm out to
- 38:46Speaker 1: get it, which, of course, even about Oz, he's a
- 38:49Speaker 1: whole shit so he only thinks, he only thinks about himself.
- 38:54Speaker 1: That's only thinks about this guy was so jealous of
- 38:57Speaker 1: the fact that he hate to share it that his
- 38:59Speaker 1: that he could he get all the love of his
- 39:01Speaker 1: mom because she had two brothers who he thought his
- 39:04Speaker 1: brothers were like, oh, she thinks they're perfect because he
- 39:06Speaker 1: has his he had his medical disabilities stuff like that
- 39:09Speaker 1: that he I mean, you could depending on how you
- 39:12Speaker 1: watch that scene, you could say, like that's the thing
- 39:15Speaker 1: that brought the scene where they show like the Oz
- 39:16Speaker 1: is the kid where he kills his brothers, where he
- 39:18Speaker 1: leaves him in the overflow drain. If you like look
- 39:20Speaker 1: away for a second and you watch, you could argue, well,
- 39:22Speaker 1: maybe he like thought they maybe they would get out.
- 39:25Speaker 1: He was just like doing as like a fuck you.
- 39:27Speaker 2: But it's like that's kind of what I was thinking initially,
- 39:31Speaker 2: But the way that the actor portrayed it right, like
- 39:35Speaker 2: you knew, oh yeah.
- 39:37Speaker 1: No, no, like as he could go down where he
- 39:39Speaker 1: kept like looking at his mo like his mom gospt
- 39:43Speaker 1: saying mas, his mom, you knew, like, okay, you know,
- 39:46Speaker 1: he he fully intended to like leave him in there
- 39:50Speaker 1: because he knew it was an overflowed draining. He knew
- 39:52Speaker 1: it was raining really bad. And and here's the thing,
- 39:55Speaker 1: and I'm letting it didn't show it. They never showed
- 39:57Speaker 1: the scene. They never show a scene where it's revealed
- 40:00Speaker 1: to them that they're dead only after. And I feel
- 40:04Speaker 1: like if they would have shown that, they would have
- 40:05Speaker 1: truly shown like, you know, did he or did he
- 40:08Speaker 1: not mean to do it? But I think the fact
- 40:09Speaker 1: they didn't it it kind of like leaves it like,
- 40:10Speaker 1: you know, like twenty five percent of people going, I
- 40:12Speaker 1: don't know if he meant to do it. It's like,
- 40:13Speaker 1: but while the seventy five peoplet's start were going, no,
- 40:15Speaker 1: he totally meant to do that, or maybe later on
- 40:18Speaker 1: he's like, oh, I left them in there, but he's like,
- 40:20Speaker 1: you know what, no, I want this. I got mom,
- 40:22Speaker 1: I got mom all to myself, fuck them and said
- 40:26Speaker 1: it killed his younger brother and his older brother, which
- 40:29Speaker 1: is really shitty. So but then yes, I want to
- 40:32Speaker 1: get to the cree both. I mean, my favorite part
- 40:36Speaker 1: of the show, like I said, was the stuff with
- 40:38Speaker 1: Sophia and Arkham or just a Sophia episode because it
- 40:42Speaker 1: ends with it's just this entire her torture and trauma
- 40:45Speaker 1: and Arkham because she's falsely accused of being the hain Man,
- 40:48Speaker 1: which is a person who kills all these prostitutes and
- 40:51Speaker 1: other women, who is actually her father, although they never
- 40:54Speaker 1: truly say that outrights. So there's and that's why I
- 40:56Speaker 1: like they kind of like leave it up to you,
- 40:58Speaker 1: like did maybe she was the hay in some aspect,
- 41:00Speaker 1: like obviously her father.
- 41:03Speaker 2: I feel like they did a good job eluding or
- 41:06Speaker 2: setting it up right.
- 41:08Speaker 1: But and but the other thing too, is like they
- 41:11Speaker 1: never truly reveal is this doctor which is kind of
- 41:13Speaker 1: like a love but more so like this doctress admires
- 41:16Speaker 1: her if he was real or not, because all of
- 41:18Speaker 1: a sudden, he's back at Arkham at the end, and
- 41:21Speaker 1: if you watch, if you watch the show, and because
- 41:24Speaker 1: because I remember I noticed this and I read review
- 41:26Speaker 1: about it too, the doctor never interacts with anyone else
- 41:30Speaker 1: other than Penguin's mom, but she never responds to him.
- 41:36Speaker 1: She only responds.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:38Speaker 1: That's why people were saying the doctor was an imagine
- 41:41Speaker 1: imagination thing with Sophia because he never interacts. The only
- 41:45Speaker 1: thing I would say, I don't know because there's like
- 41:46Speaker 1: one scene like where like a guy like literally holds
- 41:48Speaker 1: a door open for the doctor. But then but I
- 41:50Speaker 1: read it, but yeah, but he never looks at him,
- 41:52Speaker 1: because like, so what the guy just stands there holding
- 41:54Speaker 1: do open looking at Sofia, So if he would cap
- 41:56Speaker 1: his ass like so, like it's well scenes and then
- 42:00Speaker 1: that was that. The doctor ends up in Arkham just
- 42:02Speaker 1: because Sophia is back. But again, I think he is real.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I just think they shot that meticulously like that, justin
- 42:09Speaker 1: again because people were talking about it. But yeah, for me,
- 42:12Speaker 1: my favorite was the Sophie episode where she is an
- 42:14Speaker 1: Arkham because again it shows those disturbing dark things about Arkham,
- 42:18Speaker 1: which if you're a Batman fan you live for because
- 42:20Speaker 1: it's like you can totally see it being that way.
- 42:23Speaker 1: It's obviously showing like the torture she went through because she,
- 42:26Speaker 1: by her point of view, she was falsely accused and
- 42:29Speaker 1: throwing there for no reason at all, just because she
- 42:32Speaker 1: talked to a reporter about her dad, and then when
- 42:34Speaker 1: her dad died, she got out and at the end
- 42:37Speaker 1: of the episode, she fucking gases everyone in the famous
- 42:41Speaker 1: yellow dress.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Gorgeous dress.
- 42:45Speaker 1: You guys realized too. It's kind of I'm not saying,
- 42:47Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say it was intentional to call back
- 42:49Speaker 1: that I met your mother. You know, she wasn't one
- 42:51Speaker 1: of the Yello umbrella and now she's the one of
- 42:52Speaker 1: the yellow dress. Just saying, but now I get to them.
- 42:56Speaker 1: The very disturbing part the ending here, which we're kind
- 42:59Speaker 1: of alluding to with what was the girl's name, Penguin's
- 43:03Speaker 1: gal uh Eve, thank you. Obviously his mom had a
- 43:12Speaker 1: had a stroke. He has her in our empty room
- 43:15Speaker 1: in this presidential suite that he lives on the top floor,
- 43:18Speaker 1: and he comes into his home after talking to his
- 43:21Speaker 1: mom after she has the tear drop, and you see
- 43:24Speaker 1: a woman standing in the main room in the exact
- 43:28Speaker 1: same dress that his mom was wearing when she took
- 43:31Speaker 1: him to the club as a kid where she was
- 43:33Speaker 1: playing to have him killed. And she's got her hair
- 43:36Speaker 1: done in the exact same style. And at first I thought, Okay,
- 43:38Speaker 1: maybe he's imagining this, but then Nasaly got closer to her,
- 43:41Speaker 1: you realize it's the eats Eve, his girl, his girlfriend,
- 43:44Speaker 1: who's also like she's kind of like a I mean,
- 43:47Speaker 1: actually no, she is. She's like a pimp for other girls.
- 43:51Speaker 1: And they start dancing, and I'm like, okay, it's kind
- 43:54Speaker 1: of creepy. Like I literally said to myself, is he
- 43:56Speaker 1: is he dancing? Is he she wearing that same dress
- 43:58Speaker 1: as his mom? And yeah, and then he says the
- 44:01Speaker 1: line mah, tell me you love me. It's like, oh,
- 44:05Speaker 1: this is fucking gross.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Yeah. As soon as as soon as I saw that
- 44:09Speaker 2: it was Eve, I knew he was doing a mommy king.
- 44:12Speaker 1: I was like, oh, you'll be proud of me. It's like,
- 44:15Speaker 1: oh god, it's getting worse. And then like he kissed
- 44:18Speaker 1: her hand like please, like like like I have a
- 44:21Speaker 1: pretty I have a pretty strong stomach. Not a lot
- 44:23Speaker 1: of things gross bad, but like if he would have
- 44:25Speaker 1: kissed her after saying that, I might have hurled, But
- 44:31Speaker 1: like it was so good and so brilliantly shot. And
- 44:34Speaker 1: of course the last line of the show is Eve saying,
- 44:38Speaker 1: you're the this is your sitting out, You're the king
- 44:40Speaker 1: of Gotham. No one, there's no one to stop you.
- 44:44Speaker 1: And of course they and the second they pan out
- 44:46Speaker 1: the window, you knew exactly what the fuck was coming
- 44:51Speaker 1: and taking a far pan out of the building he's in,
- 44:54Speaker 1: and they showed the rest of Gotham way far in
- 44:55Speaker 1: the back. And of course then and I love the fact,
- 44:58Speaker 1: by the way, it was a not a split second,
- 45:01Speaker 1: but it was like there was no intro music to it.
- 45:05Speaker 1: There was no sound cue. The same song that was
- 45:07Speaker 1: playing when they were dancing kept going on and stuff
- 45:09Speaker 1: like that. But they pan out and they showed the
- 45:11Speaker 1: bats to go in the sky for a couple of seconds,
- 45:16Speaker 1: three seconds enough where you could see it. No crazy
- 45:18Speaker 1: music drop or anything like that. And I'm not gonna lie.
- 45:21Speaker 1: As soon as I came up, I was like, what
- 45:22Speaker 1: the fuck it go? And then I realized we have
- 45:25Speaker 1: to wait two fucking years for this movie? Fuck me?
- 45:30Speaker 2: Is it confirmed?
- 45:31Speaker 1: Two years? Yes? So so full the culture, so yes.
- 45:36Speaker 1: The Penguin Show was literally a continuation of After the
- 45:39Speaker 1: Batman and I'll get to why Batman wasn't in this
- 45:42Speaker 1: and for a second, but yes, it is confirmed to
- 45:46Speaker 1: be two years. Reason being it was actually supposed to
- 45:50Speaker 1: come out next October. It's coming to October after that.
- 45:54Speaker 1: The reason being the strikes that happened last summer, which
- 45:58Speaker 1: is crazy to say that was last summer, all right,
- 46:00Speaker 1: had a lot to do with the game pushback because
- 46:07Speaker 1: so originally were supposed to come out next fall. Then
- 46:09Speaker 1: it got pushed kinda to the following summer, but a
- 46:14Speaker 1: lot of stuff is coming out, so it got pushed
- 46:16Speaker 1: to Halloween ish or like end of October because nothing
- 46:21Speaker 1: really is coming around online at that time except for
- 46:23Speaker 1: I think there's like a big movie coming around Christmas time,
- 46:25Speaker 1: which there always is, especially with Christmas. Yeah, I got
- 46:29Speaker 1: pushed October twenty twenty six. Uh, because they're filming it,
- 46:33Speaker 1: I believe next summer, so you know, it takes about it.
- 46:36Speaker 1: You know, movies, especially big budget was like to take
- 46:39Speaker 1: about a year and a half, two years to make
- 46:40Speaker 1: so that makes sense, and it's supposed to be continuation
- 46:44Speaker 1: right after the Penguin show. And the reason that Batman
- 46:49Speaker 1: wasn't in this show, and here's the thing I love
- 46:50Speaker 1: right of way, and like of course people thought, okay,
- 46:52Speaker 1: there's full of shit, they said right away, Batman will
- 46:55Speaker 1: not be in this show. The reason being is because
- 46:59Speaker 1: if you watch it to Batman, and that's the thing
- 47:01Speaker 1: they glue to the whole time is that they no
- 47:03Speaker 1: one ever sees Bruce Wayne. They only see Batman, and
- 47:06Speaker 1: a lot of the people who are like actually good
- 47:07Speaker 1: politicians actually call him off for this shit. So apparently,
- 47:10Speaker 1: like in the show, it's supposed to be where he's
- 47:12Speaker 1: like helping out the city, and like, here's the thing,
- 47:13Speaker 1: this is just a little random drug crime war going
- 47:17Speaker 1: on under this under the city. It's nothing major to
- 47:20Speaker 1: get his attention, you know what I'm saying. Of course,
- 47:23Speaker 1: why does the bat signal finally go in this guy
- 47:26Speaker 1: at the episode is because well, literally Sophia Gigante blew
- 47:30Speaker 1: up literally an entire fucking town under the sewer, and like, yeah,
- 47:37Speaker 1: I think that I think that kind of gets the
- 47:39Speaker 1: bat you know, the cole the per cup a little
- 47:41Speaker 1: bit like, hey, what the fuck was that? So that's
- 47:45Speaker 1: one of the theory. But yeah, because it makes sense,
- 47:47Speaker 1: like yeah, Batman, that's that's the point that the Batman persona,
- 47:51Speaker 1: it's supposed to be where you think he's everywhere, which
- 47:53Speaker 1: is why you don't do shit. But this was a
- 47:57Speaker 1: show where and that thing I like about this too.
- 47:58Speaker 1: This all didn't take place at got and majority of
- 48:00Speaker 1: it did, but it took places in a lot of places.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I got because Gothi was like New York. It was
- 48:03Speaker 1: with this gigantic, gigantic metropolis where there's you know, you
- 48:07Speaker 1: can't just get to one place in a matter of
- 48:09Speaker 1: ment is it's gonna take you a good fucking minute.
- 48:12Speaker 1: But this took place outside the city at the Falcone House,
- 48:17Speaker 1: Penguin's mass. She lived outside the city in the house
- 48:20Speaker 1: because you want to keep her away from everything and
- 48:22Speaker 1: stuff like that. And that's why I loved about it,
- 48:24Speaker 1: Like it wasn't even though this took place in Gotham
- 48:27Speaker 1: and mainly took place in the in the area Wolled
- 48:28Speaker 1: Crown Point, which is kind of like the shitty area
- 48:31Speaker 1: because of everything that happened, and even before the explosion
- 48:34Speaker 1: in the flood. They made every part or every setting
- 48:39Speaker 1: feel like it was very far from one another, which
- 48:44Speaker 1: was awesome. But yeah, that last scene with the fucking
- 48:47Speaker 1: tell me you proud of me and then the bad
- 48:48Speaker 1: thing go. I went from this is fucking weirdest shit too.
- 48:52Speaker 1: I'm ready to run through a brick wall just because
- 48:55Speaker 1: someone shined a little light in the sky. It's my nightlight. Yeah,
- 49:00Speaker 1: but we have to wait two years. Oh god, why
- 49:05Speaker 1: did COVID in the fucking strike have to happen? Because yeah,
- 49:07Speaker 1: this movie is supposed to come out next fall, because
- 49:11Speaker 1: next summer Drew shag Zillah James gunns DC, which is
- 49:16Speaker 1: completely simmarent from this. There's not gonna be any Superman
- 49:20Speaker 1: or bullshit into this. That's what they've said. Matt Reeves
- 49:23Speaker 1: has full control of this. Obviously, it's something he's got
- 49:25Speaker 1: to get approval with James on some stuff, like you know,
- 49:27Speaker 1: like hey, we want to do this, Like yeah, He'll
- 49:29Speaker 1: probably be like, yeah, you're a fucking Academy Award nominated director, writer,
- 49:33Speaker 1: go fucking do it. Because James Gun's a badass and
- 49:35Speaker 1: he's and he's smart too. But yeah, next summer is
- 49:39Speaker 1: when James Guns DCU launches with Superman where they're having
- 49:45Speaker 1: and I'm not joking when I say a plethora of
- 49:47Speaker 1: other heroes, I mean a fucking video game roster full
- 49:51Speaker 1: of heroes in there. Because they're doing the whole and
- 49:53Speaker 1: this is why I like it. What they're doing. Then,
- 49:54Speaker 1: this is what they do with the Batman too, the
- 49:56Speaker 1: pants of Batman. Everyone and their mother. You don't have
- 50:00Speaker 1: to see all the Batman movies. You don't have to
- 50:02Speaker 1: see all the supermovies held you. You don't need to
- 50:04Speaker 1: see all the Spider Man movies. Everyone knows who the
- 50:07Speaker 1: fuck those three guys are. They know their backstory. They
- 50:11Speaker 1: all know Batman, Yeah, his parents got shot at Naley,
- 50:14Speaker 1: al Serman, some alien linen a farming Kansas. Oh, Spider Man,
- 50:17Speaker 1: some kid that get bit by Spider they did.
- 50:19Speaker 2: I didn't know any of that. The few, shack Zilla,
- 50:23Speaker 2: the few, the proud like Gigante. God damn, but they're doing.
- 50:33Speaker 2: That's what they're doing. That's what they're doing with the
- 50:34Speaker 2: new James Gun universe.
- 50:35Speaker 1: It's like, look, everyone knows these superheroes, they're already established,
- 50:39Speaker 1: they're already there. Go why because we don't need to
- 50:43Speaker 1: do these anymore? Because everyone has already seen the five
- 50:45Speaker 1: supram movies beforehand. It's like, were you already know how
- 50:48Speaker 1: this ends? Right? And that's what they did with the
- 50:52Speaker 1: Pants and Batman. It was it was like Batman Begins, which,
- 50:55Speaker 1: by the way, than no movies are fantastic, the great
- 50:57Speaker 1: the fantastic movies and great Gulogy might see the greatest.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I don't know what the great anyway, but I say,
- 51:04Speaker 1: but it's up there. It is up there. I will
- 51:08Speaker 1: say this. I think the Dolan trilogy right now is
- 51:11Speaker 1: the best superhero trilogy, like the bail Batman's not aging,
- 51:17Speaker 1: Well I'm gonna say that, Well why am I not? Anyway?
- 51:24Speaker 2: But classic, it's a classic.
- 51:26Speaker 1: But the best thing about the Batman movie with Robert
- 51:28Speaker 1: Panson was like it was Batman year two, so he's established,
- 51:33Speaker 1: but a lot of people still don't know about him,
- 51:35Speaker 1: but they know he's there, you know, And that's what
- 51:39Speaker 1: was so cool about it. It was like, okay, cool,
- 51:41Speaker 1: It's like it's like it's like it's essentially it was like,
- 51:42Speaker 1: o hey, this would be Batman Begins had they done
- 51:45Speaker 1: the sequel right after Baman Begins it stead of like
- 51:48Speaker 1: a couple years later with Dark the Dark Knight, which
- 51:49Speaker 1: I'm not just in the Dark Knight the greatest movies
- 51:51Speaker 1: ever made, good, you know what I mean. But that's
- 51:54Speaker 1: what they're doing. That's what James guys gonna do with
- 51:56Speaker 1: his universe, which is going to have an actual Batman,
- 51:58Speaker 1: and that it's not gonna be Robert pan because they're saying,
- 52:00Speaker 1: like the Robert pantson one is completely separate.
- 52:03Speaker 2: It's going to be that's weird, but it's But here's the.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Thing, though, in this generation, you can do that m
- 52:10Speaker 1: because I mean, I mean, I don't. I mean, I'm
- 52:13Speaker 1: always up for more. I'm always down for more Batman,
- 52:15Speaker 1: I really am. But I think here's the thing with
- 52:18Speaker 1: how good James gun of a filmmaker he is, with
- 52:20Speaker 1: how good of a filmmaker mat reeves, is it's gonna
- 52:23Speaker 1: be so easy for them to make that difference. I
- 52:26Speaker 1: I personally think that, Now, get me wrong, is it
- 52:28Speaker 1: gonna be weird? Like okay, you know, like going go
- 52:31Speaker 1: and try and explain that to your father or my father, like, hey,
- 52:34Speaker 1: here's why there's two Batman Like wait, wait, wait, didn't
- 52:37Speaker 1: Batman just beat Penguin's ass in his last movie? Well? Yeah,
- 52:41Speaker 1: but actually this Batman is this.
- 52:43Speaker 2: You know, it's a different Batman.
- 52:46Speaker 1: It's a different Batman, but it's a cool It's an
- 52:48Speaker 1: easy conversation. Honestly, I really think it's not because, like,
- 52:51Speaker 1: I don't think it'll be that hard to have. I mean,
- 52:53Speaker 1: obviously it's a little bit harder for people to unexplain
- 52:55Speaker 1: the whole fucking Sony Marvel and Martin Disney Marvel because
- 53:01Speaker 1: girls just thinking about it. But like, I think it'll
- 53:04Speaker 1: be a lot easier to explain that because I think
- 53:06Speaker 1: you're going to do such a good job with the movies,
- 53:09Speaker 1: but also establishing, like here's why this Batman is this Batman.
- 53:12Speaker 1: That Batman is that Batman, and maybe that has something.
- 53:16Speaker 1: I mean, again, there's been no there's been no confirmed
- 53:18Speaker 1: thing with the Batman James gunn one that's coming out.
- 53:21Speaker 1: All we know it's gonna be an older Batman because
- 53:23Speaker 1: he's supposed to have a son in the movie. That's
- 53:25Speaker 1: the only thing that's been announced, and who knows what's
- 53:26Speaker 1: gonna come out. Speaking of sons, I can't believe we
- 53:29Speaker 1: were a minis if we didn't explain the They talk
- 53:31Speaker 1: about the one good quality in the show that being
- 53:33Speaker 1: Vic when we kind of mentioned him. Yeah, so obviously,
- 53:37Speaker 1: like you know, like we said, Vic was this kid
- 53:39Speaker 1: who lost his way because his family was killed, and
- 53:42Speaker 1: Penguin took manipulate him because he's like he was easily
- 53:45Speaker 1: manipulated to be he was easy. It was pretty easy
- 53:48Speaker 1: to manipulate this kid who had nothing.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Yeah, who knew nothing, who knew nothing.
- 53:54Speaker 1: And god, the whole show, you're thinking, like fuck, like
- 53:59Speaker 1: is in the Magan it was everyone's mind, is Vic
- 54:02Speaker 1: if is victing to make it out? Is he gonna
- 54:04Speaker 1: make it out alive? And they did such a good job.
- 54:07Speaker 1: So many times are you thinking, no, this is it,
- 54:10Speaker 1: He's fucking dead, or he's just gonna get shot, or
- 54:12Speaker 1: I mean you got he fucking he Actually he did.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Vic did kill a couple of people, and that's the thing.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Every time he killed someone, he genuinely was like felt guilty.
- 54:20Speaker 1: And again that just shows you how fucking disgusting and
- 54:23Speaker 1: evil Penguin really is, even though they're trying to make
- 54:25Speaker 1: you like him. Instead of like after Vic's first kill
- 54:28Speaker 1: where he shoots a guy in the neck actually kind
- 54:30Speaker 1: of like a bully childhood bully of his shoots him
- 54:33Speaker 1: in the neck. Oz grabs him like this passionate like
- 54:37Speaker 1: father son like hug and what does he telling his son?
- 54:41Speaker 1: It gets easier? Yeah, yeah, I kind of was like
- 54:46Speaker 1: what not like it'll be okay or like hey, I'm
- 54:51Speaker 1: proud of you you like I mean that would have
- 54:52Speaker 1: been a little more fucked up, but it's like, hey,
- 54:54Speaker 1: you do we need to do to protect us? No,
- 54:56Speaker 1: it gets easier, like a bitch. And then and then
- 55:03Speaker 1: before the disturbing mom scene with the dancing and all
- 55:06Speaker 1: that ship, Vic and uh Panguner sitting on some random
- 55:09Speaker 1: bench by the by the Gotham River and Vic makes
- 55:14Speaker 1: the unfortunate mistake of simply saying, Oz, you're like family,
- 55:21Speaker 1: and a veenguin just gives him a nice little shoulder
- 55:24Speaker 1: hug like get family is a weakness and fucking chokes him. Yeah.
- 55:31Speaker 2: And I know I had text of you about the choking,
- 55:34Speaker 2: like that was such a personal kill.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Yeah, like the choking, the choking and like and they
- 55:42Speaker 1: did such a they did it such a good way too.
- 55:44Speaker 1: It's like he didn't just like choke with like he
- 55:46Speaker 1: like they were sitting on the bench, he like did
- 55:47Speaker 1: like the arm over of the shoulder, but wrapped his
- 55:50Speaker 1: wrapped his neck and then juices on their hand to
- 55:52Speaker 1: choke him. And they did a great job show where
- 55:54Speaker 1: it's like Vic is like on the ground trying to
- 55:56Speaker 1: fight for his life, but like because of the way
- 55:58Speaker 1: they were sitting, he is sitting. There's nothing he can
- 56:00Speaker 1: do about it, like and it was such a it's god,
- 56:04Speaker 1: it sucks. And it's like like all all you're seeing
- 56:06Speaker 1: now on social media is just means of Batman beating
- 56:09Speaker 1: the ship penguin in the ark in games. That's all
- 56:11Speaker 1: he would wants out. That's the problem. Let's be the
- 56:14Speaker 1: problem of the next movie. Who are the main bad guys,
- 56:16Speaker 1: because I don't think they kind of already said like
- 56:17Speaker 1: Pang will be around for a couple more projects. Like
- 56:20Speaker 1: everyone's be like like you know, let's just say hypathic.
- 56:22Speaker 1: It's like like Killer Crock or the Scarecrows, Like, now,
- 56:24Speaker 1: fuck him, where's the penguin? Go beat his ass, like
- 56:28Speaker 1: go get a fifty nine punch combo in this bitch,
- 56:31Speaker 1: because do it. We gotta do it for a boy, Vic.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Do it.
- 56:33Speaker 2: You gotta do it for do it Vic. And it's
- 56:35Speaker 2: just and like and like again and here's the.
- 56:38Speaker 1: Thing, not even like the disturbing thing like with like
- 56:41Speaker 1: the dancing with his girl and like the mo comments
- 56:43Speaker 1: the cheerry on top before, like that was showing him
- 56:46Speaker 1: he's a fucking psychotic human being. The cheery on top
- 56:48Speaker 1: of show you of how much of a piece of
- 56:50Speaker 1: shit he is. This kid from episode one is the
- 56:53Speaker 1: guy who has helped him get.
- 56:54Speaker 2: To where he is, save his life a couple of times.
- 56:57Speaker 1: A couple of times and if anything to he had
- 56:59Speaker 1: some very conversations with Vic and like also kind of
- 57:02Speaker 1: like expressing his emotions to Vic about like how much
- 57:04Speaker 1: he means to him too, he didn't say until like
- 57:06Speaker 1: these other sh that's really good. Also the bombing when
- 57:08Speaker 1: Sophia bombed the fucking layer or yeah, drug lab of penguins,
- 57:13Speaker 1: he didn't tell his crew. He fucking ran off and
- 57:17Speaker 1: fucking ran off bot him jumped in the same overflow.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Great that he killed his brothers in that fucking I
- 57:22Speaker 1: mean it was the first thing there, but like he
- 57:24Speaker 1: didn't tell his crewe. After he kills Vic, he grabs
- 57:29Speaker 1: his wallet, takes the cash out of it and puts
- 57:32Speaker 1: in his pocket and throws Vic's id in the river.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Well because he knows Nolan will be able to id him.
- 57:39Speaker 2: He's a lost soul, right, but he also takes the cash.
- 57:42Speaker 2: What do you have like a couple of twenty Okay,
- 57:45Speaker 2: so what a fucking asshole. But at the same time
- 57:48Speaker 2: he's dead, like you know what I mean, Like, ugh,
- 57:54Speaker 2: I just.
- 57:54Speaker 1: I need I need it to be October twenty twenty six.
- 57:58Speaker 1: I was you know, you know Drew knows me too.
- 58:00Speaker 1: I'm not a guy who you know I would say
- 58:01Speaker 1: don't don't don't rush a good time, you know what
- 58:03Speaker 1: I mean, like wait in here for a long time,
- 58:04Speaker 1: here for a good time kind of thing. But like,
- 58:07Speaker 1: damn it, I need I need a time machine. I
- 58:11Speaker 1: need to go thirteen months or no, fuck no, twenty
- 58:14Speaker 1: three months from now.
- 58:16Speaker 2: I don't I don't want to advance that far.
- 58:18Speaker 1: I mean, neither do I. But I want to see
- 58:20Speaker 1: this fucking movie because that's and that's the thing that's
- 58:22Speaker 1: the best part about Like this is what and this
- 58:24Speaker 1: is what Marvel is able to do. Sometimes too, when
- 58:27Speaker 1: you make a good or hell, even Star Wars, when
- 58:30Speaker 1: you make a good project, people want more. There are
- 58:35Speaker 1: certain projects where it's like there doesn't need to be seen,
- 58:38Speaker 1: there doesn't need to be a sequel. There shouldn't be
- 58:40Speaker 1: a sequel, But when it's something that good, the reason
- 58:43Speaker 1: people want more is because they don't want the story
- 58:45Speaker 1: that they're so they become so enamored with, or they've
- 58:48Speaker 1: they they got so attached to they don't want it
- 58:51Speaker 1: to end. Now, obviously with this story, this is one
- 58:53Speaker 1: of the stories where it literally ends with no, there's
- 58:55Speaker 1: going to be a follow up in the Batman part two,
- 58:59Speaker 1: but it's like we have to wait two years and
- 59:02Speaker 1: that's and this that's kind of sorry. That's the kind
- 59:04Speaker 1: of thing that Marvel has spoiled us with because while
- 59:07Speaker 1: a lot of ship isn't as connected as it used
- 59:10Speaker 1: to be, we don't have to wait that long for shit. Yeah,
- 59:14Speaker 1: like last year was an anomaly, was not last year's
- 59:18Speaker 1: This year was an anomaly because the only thing that
- 59:20Speaker 1: came out for Marvel was Deadpool and Agatha not connected,
- 59:24Speaker 1: not connected at.
- 59:24Speaker 2: All came out or yeah.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Again true but yeah, the crowd like not okay, but
- 59:34Speaker 1: like Marvel like I had all these has always had
- 59:36Speaker 1: all these scenes come out, and like you wouldn't and
- 59:40Speaker 1: like the quality is so good you wouldn't be waiting
- 59:42Speaker 1: much longer. But now you are, Like now That's why
- 59:44Speaker 1: I think. That's why I think a lot of people
- 59:45Speaker 1: really not that. I not that Deadpool Wolveringe isn't a
- 59:48Speaker 1: great movie. I loved it. That's why I think it
- 59:50Speaker 1: got so much, even bigger praise than probably a lot
- 59:52Speaker 1: of people thought I was going to, is because it's like, oh,
- 59:55Speaker 1: Marvel hasn't put out a banger like this.
- 59:56Speaker 2: In a long time.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and now people are wait being desperately for
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: more with the Captain American movie and the Thunderbolts movie,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: which apparently the Captain American movie. The portrayal looks great.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: But I've read a lot of things that saying, so
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I hopefully it's not true, but I can see it being. Yeah,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: I can I can't too. But like again, it's one
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: of us things like hey, wait, obviously all film Intellivision
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: subject of wait till it comes out to make your
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: own opinion.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: But like.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: If you you know, at the end of the day,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: you want to you want to if you want to
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: have a project in the mc U that can get
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: as much praise as the Penguin did, and you don't
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: need to, uh, you know, break your or break your
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: code essentially and say fuck you don't have to do that.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Just get your problems. All your problems will be solved.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Oh man, Yeah, we're about an hour here, so I
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: want to show your time. I want to thank Shaggslill
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: for coming on, but can get out here. I want
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: to ask you what would be your final score for
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: this Penguin Slurp review from HBO.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Honestly, I would put it an eight five to potentially
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: a nine. I thought it was really really well done. Again,
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: you know, to revisit. The acting marvelous, the writing was great,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: the cinematic was beautiful. I think it was just overall
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: really well done. It did not feel like you were
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: in a superhero show. It just was a captivating show
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: that happened to be a superhero show.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Or it's not going to take place in a superhero landscape.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think that speaks to a wider audience
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: where people who may not normally gravitate towards a show
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: like this or a genre like this would find enjoyment.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: And to me, I think that's that's really valuable. So
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: I'm happy with the eighty five. I think it could
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: stretch to nine.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: For me, there's a lot of ways I can go
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: with this. I'm oh, man, I'm just I'm gonna give
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: this ten Sophia Stiggs out of ten. I am not
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: joking when I say this. I went into this show thinking, okay,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I'm very intrigued because right away it's like, it's like this,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: you already have this like uh how I put it?
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Like how like clicking clack and I come on here
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: and we talk about, like, look, it is very hard
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: for you to give us a Star Wars product and
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: for us to not enjoy it even though we're banning
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: up to a minutes faults. Like I know, for example,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: you and I definitely did over text mess about Acolyte
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: and Renee and I did it as well about Accolte,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: although I definitely enjoyed a lot more than most people.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: But again, I can see where there's faults in it.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: This was a show I went into thinking, okay, I'm
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: going to I'm very intrigued to see how am I
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: going to enjoy a show that right away takes place
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: in the Batman universe but there is no Batman, but
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: it is a show about one of his most heinous
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: villains or essentially rivals. Following up an all time favorite
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: movie of mine, and like, how are they going to
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: play a show? Are you gonna do a show essentially
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: where it's like, look, this guy's a bad dude, but
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: we're going to how am we're gonna try to eight
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: episodes to make you not like him, but stay stick
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: with him where you want to see him win. Yeah,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: the acting, the writing, the character development, the people, his
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: adversary he went up against. It's a show where each
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: week it made me want more and more and more.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: And by the end of it, well, of course, as
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I mentioned, there's a lot of times in the show
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: where you were like, Oswald, cable pot is a rotting
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: piece of shit. But despite that statement, you kept wanting
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: him to win and get essentially get become Key of
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: the Hill. But then just the last ten minutes alone,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: after eight episodes of making you want him to win
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: and succeed in ten minutes, final ten minutes, they did
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: such a good job of taking all of that emotions like, hey,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: you've waited for this, you got it, and now going,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: by the way, here's Oswald that your door saying thanks
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: for your support, by the way, fuck you, and then
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: and then they nailed it. They literally nailed it. They
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: literally home run Final Game seven, World Series, Bob of
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: the Ninth Grand Slam. They literally did that, and in
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: ten minutes they did where it's like you want him
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: to get his ass beat and they give you that
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: glimmer of hope just by shining, just by shining a
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: little light in the sky for two seconds. This show,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: to me, was amazing. It was perfect. I'm not really
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: a TV guy. I'm more of a movie guy. I'm
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: not afraid to admit that I've seen a Sopranos as
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: a phenomenal show. I've seen The Wire. It's an all
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: time show for me. I have seen some awesome shows.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Dreaking Bad it took me, like it took me forever,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: kind of like how you know Joe and Drew. I
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: had to fucking like take the dagger and go when
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: you buyd a PC, motherfucker come on, like when you wait? Yeah,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: that took og. Patron had did the exact same thing
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: with me for Breaking Bad, and I'm like, why did
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I Why did I not do this earlier? You know
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: what I mean? But this was a show where it's
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: like I am sad it's over because now it's like,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: what am I supposed to do with my Sundays. Now,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie actually you want to, I'm gonna
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: say it is on the air. This show made the
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Madhouse of Maryland a little bit easier to deal with,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Not that much, but it made it easier because the
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: next day, when I would meet Trevor Joe, We're sitting
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: in the couch all somber, all, Oh this sucks, man,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: What the fuck? All I got telling dree uh, hey, well,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: we're gonna watch Penguin. Thankfully we're having such a good time,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: but we get a chance to first thing I did
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Tuesday when I got off the plane watch Penguin. No,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: it took a shower because I just got an airplane.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: But then I watched Penguins. It was just such a
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: good show. And like now I can't wait, and again
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I hope The good a season two. Does it make
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: sense for the Goodest season two? It's kind of hard.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: It's right now all like of the major players. I mean,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: you can do a thing where it's like maybe the politicians,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: a good politician going after him like it's it's it
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: will be a lot harder to do a season two.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: But with how good of the writing, the acting, wasn't
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: this show. It's like, I mean, either way we win
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: when we get their follow up, either way we win
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: because you know, Sophia's obviously can go after him. Obviously
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: they do the teas of Catwoman because they are teicle
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: his sisters.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I didn't, I didn't know that historically.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Well, I mean just based off the movie because Falcone
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: is Selena's dad and he's also Sophia's dad, so therefore
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: they were half sisters. And again, here's the thing, because
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I'm such a Batman fanatic, I totally forgot about that
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: because they never talk about that. Because then at the
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: end of the show they go they they little comment,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: oh hey, you got a letter from your half sister
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Selena Kyle, Like who is that. It's like, oh shit,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: that's right, they're fucking they have the same dad. Like
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: totally totally totally give me a crazy Batman Star Wars
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: fan always connected the dots memory and shift from like
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: fucking five projects ago. I'm like, oh my god, I
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: totally forgot about like the connection between Sophia and Selena.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Totally totally went past my head right over me. I
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: had no idea, and I'm like, oh shit, because now
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: it's like, well, obviously Sophia's got being the Batman too somehow,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: and it's exciting to do.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: It's like, okay, you have you took two projects. You've
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: killed a lot of people in both projects. But it's like, Okay,
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: now it makes me look forward to this next product
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: because now they've taken these characters that they developed over
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: two projects, Like, how are you gonna have them all
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: interact with each other in the next film exactly? And
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: like build on it, build to the end game, yes,
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: which they're going to with this bat again. What is
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: the end game for this Batman series?
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Nobody knows? And that's the best part because that was
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: that was one of my favorite parts about the first
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Batman movie. Okay, Batman's my favorite superhero. But what do
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: they show right at the end of the movie. Oh,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: by the way, Joker, he's already in jail. It's like, oh, great,
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: sure can they do move? Maybe he breaks out one
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: hundred percent of course, but it's not gonna be like
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: ever the Batman franchise. It's like, all right, cool, hey, Drew,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: you break glass for Joker? Okay, yeah, no, I have
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: nothing against any of the Jokers ever. Played even the
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Jared Letta won less about that one the better, but
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: I know that against that one. But it's like they
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: they're not going to do the whole like all right,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Batman two, Batman one, let's go at for the Joker.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: It's like maybe they do that for three, but it's
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: like they've done such a good job where it's like
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: you don't You're you're not waiting for the Joker. It's
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: like it can easily just be like no Jokers in jail,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Batman beat his ass already. No, we're not gonna show
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: you how We're not going to. And it's it's one
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: of those things where it's like if they show us,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: like oh, you're going like the Joker, but like if
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: they don't show, it's like, wait, how did how did
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: he already get Joker? Come on? I want to see that.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: It's like, no, you don't, cause you're gonna bitch about it.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Also, Heath.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Also what Keith, Yeah, Heath, here's what I say about
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Heith let his Joker. That is my favorite interpretation the Joker,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: although the Jack nicholsone has a huge spot in my
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: heart because I was the first one I saw as
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: a kid. The Second Joker with Joaquin in Phoenix definitely
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: made he uh legacy of being the Joker even stronger.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: H See, I haven't seen the number two yet.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: I've seen bits and pieces through just stuff online, and
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I had friends I haven't seen it, so that's kind
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: of like, well, Chuck, why you're saying that. But like,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: I've seen bits and pieces and I've had friends of
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: mine who I trust according to my sources. That's a
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: terrible am shifter. H tell me this. Tell me some
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: like some synopsis stuff, and just based on like the
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: way the second movie, the First Joker is awesome with Walking,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: it's awesome, but the way the Second Joker went and
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: the way they ended it, it's just kind of like,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: why would you do that? Man? And again, like I said,
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: it was honest and I stick it was a total
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: cash grap. Not that any every movie is a total
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: cash crap, but Joker too was a full was a
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: legit total cash grap.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: That's that's sad to hear.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: It is sad, especially when you have talent like Walking,
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Lady Gaga and all that shit. But yeah, and people
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: by the way, who have worked on the movie are
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: coming out sane. It was worst fucking project I've ever
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: worked on and shit like that.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: It's like, oh for real, yeah, yeah, okay, well that
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: that says a lot, not not what.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Keener Lady Goga, but like other people, like like one
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: of a guy was on Joe Rogan he said that.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: I read another thing where another person said, oh, yeah,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: that was the worst part I've ever worked on. Like
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: that's like it's a big budget I mean, say what
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: you want bout the end. That was a big budget
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: blockbuster and you're saying that, like what the you know
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: what I mean? So and again it is what it is.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: But I think, like for me like that the joker
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: to definitely solidify that he that is the joker. But
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: then again, when you get a talented performer like Barry
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Keegan who can also you know what I mean, Like
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: the guy's ciarly got talent, Like the guy's been now
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: for Cammy Awards, I think he can definitely do a
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: very good joker. The guys I'm also got Sabrina Carpenter
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: don't see anymore at any rate? Uh so, Drew, there's
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: a reason she says please please please, there's at any rate, Drew,
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: is it in a point five probably into a nine.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: I give it ten bum six off of a sophoiena
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Ka Gante out of ten. Yeah, before we get out
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: of here. Yeah, really quick? Sorry, Yeah, awesome show. Top
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: five for me. I hope there's a season two.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: If it's a limited series, it would make total sense.
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: But like, that's what it's listed on on the internet.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Is a.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's listened. It's listed that on the internet. But
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: I really quick, I guarantee you there's been murmers about
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: a season two if they know for sure, which I
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: don't know how they're not. If they're nominated for an Emmy,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: they're gonna make another season because they want that chance
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: to or they want that chance to, Like you don't
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: get Enemys because it's like, Okay, there's the drama Series Emmy,
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: which is usually the big one, or the there's here
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: is an Emmy for a limited series, and you can't
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: get both. So it's like which one, Well, you ain't
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: get both. I can't know, because drama is supposed to
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: be a multiple season show, like Succession is a multiple
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: season drama show. That's why they have the limited series one.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: So again, it's it's a tough it's a tough thing.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: It's you know what I mean, like you here, like
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: here's like the crazy thing too, Like I'm not I
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: have to look at it. I'm not exactly sure. Why
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: did you know? For example, like the show The Bear? Yeah,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: did you know the Emmys it's one is not for
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: dramas for comedy what.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not comedic. I mean it has jokes, but
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: it's not it's what.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Look it up right now, so we're god if you
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: look up the Bear. Let's see the Bear and the award.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna look it up. It's not aware award. Okay.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: The Bear has won the Outstanding Comedy Series What for
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: its third season. Yes, it was nominated for it in
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: its first season Outstanding Comedy Series.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: I was probably gonna watch it tonight, to be honest,
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: I just and.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I have yet to see The Bear. I want to
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: see the because, like anything Jerry and Jeremy Allen White
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: is a is obviously a hit, but obviously with it
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: being in Chicago with close especially Chicago, but like with
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: close ties to me, obviously little known facts they film
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: and we're going to bear here starrying to keep it
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: a little bit waiting. They've one of the scenes and
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I see it because again I remember a friend of
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: mine sent it to me. It's like, this is a
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: place that you and your dad always talk about. So
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: they filmed and I got all the context. Obviously. They
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: filmed in a place called Mister Beef. It's a famous
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Italian beef joint in Chicago. There's a couple of them,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: but the real, the OG, the one everyone goes to,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: is a or Leans driva. It's called my dad and
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I have been there an ether of times and my dad,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I'll say, it's like I've been to the other one too.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: They're they're very obviously the original OG one has that
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: nostalgia factor on secial. In fact, they only take cash.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: The allegedly, and let me say this, allegedly they wanted
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: to film the scene they did in the show there,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: but they said no because allegedly they're like, look, we like,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: you're gonna pay us this money, but we're open all
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: the time and we're not gonna We're not gonna fuck
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: our customers.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: So instead, allegedly they paid them to use their name
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: and ship like that or I haven't seen a show
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: the likeness. And they made in a in a a
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: studio a legit replica of this restaurant. And by the way,
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: this is not a restaurant. This is a you walk in,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: you get the fuck out. It is a tiny little
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: beef joint. I've eaten in there. It's fantastic.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: They so they they might have they might have convinced
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: them because there are some scenes where they're in Chicago,
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: like they're clearly in Chicago, like.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: They're out out next to in Chicago they do. Yeah.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so they might have been able to actually get
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: something in agreement with that.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: But I'm just curious why. Like going back at the
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Emmy talk again, you and I haven't seen I don't
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: know about it. I haven't seen the show. But it's like,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: and the few friends of mine have seen the show,
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: I never heard of them talk about like how funny
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: it and stuff like that. Just like no, like it's
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: just it's a drama. Yeah, and it's one for outstanding comedies. Actually,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: I want to I want to pull this up.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: I want to be honest, like I've actually I started
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: watching that, yeah, like in spring, but I've paced it
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: out because sometimes I'm it it like there's so much
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: stress and anxiety in the show. Yeah, that it bleeds
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: through to the audience. Like I'm for myself and I
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: know several others close to me who like, we have
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: to take breaks from it because it triggers our own anxiety,
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: right like, like, that's not a comedy.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: No, I'm trying to see, all right, forgive me, lated
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: and gentlemen, the Emmy website is not let me say,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: the lay of it is not great. I get. I
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: get what they're saying.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Oh you can, you can watch it and we can
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: do a slur prom it.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: No I see, Oh actually no, I see exact Oh
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: wait right now that I'm reading the website now, because
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: I think it was just a thing for my thing.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: So yeah, The Bear was nominated for thirty six Emmys
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: and at won twenty one. I'm just gonna give you
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: some of the things they won. And Okay, Outstanding Casting
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: for a Comedy Series, Cool, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: Comedy or Drama Series. It's it's so not a comedy.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: And that's the I have not heard one person go
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: like this show is hilarious, not.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: Saying it can't be, but as some funny jokes.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: Okay, here we go, all right, so um, all right,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: here are some of the shows. Here are the shows
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: that the bar beat Ready, Avid Elementary? What, Yeah, I
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know what Curby Your Enthusiasm that's
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: a comedy. Only Murders in the building, that's a comedy.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: What we Do in the Shadows? Great fucking show. That's
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: a comedy. Yeah, this way? Or did it not?
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: Did not get Maybe it didn't win? Why are they're
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: saying it won?
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: This show though?
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: Hold on, maybe it's now this website says Hacks.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: Oh no, they didn't win it. They were nominated. Excuse me,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: they were nominated for Outstanding Comedy, So I'm sorry and gentlemen,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: but they were known for Outstanding Comedy Series. They lost
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: to a show called Hacks.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: But they're not a comedy, absolutely not.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: The show that won Best Drama Series Rifle. I mean,
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I have yet to see see it. I don't know why,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: because I was the one I was like, you gonna
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: watch the show because it looks so good? Was show good? Oh?
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: I liked it?
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I like, yeah, and I've heard nothing but outstanding things.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: But it won. But here's the it won for Outstanding
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: uh Casting for Comedy Series one, Outstanding Sound Mixing for
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: a Comedy Series, Outstanding Costumes, Outstanding Writing. It was nominated,
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: it won Best direct Okay, this is okay, this is
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: this is the one that makes all sense. You're ready
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: for this, so hacks Hacks won Best Comedy Series Emmy.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: Right the Bear one Best Directing for a Comedy Series.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: As a director who's directing a drama? Yeah?
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: Something something? Goofy there?
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Okay, oh no, you're ready for this one. Here's here's
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: here's where I got can Face the Bear. The Bear
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: One or Bear was nominated for Best Comedy Series for Emmys.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: It was nominated. Would you like to guess what was it?
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not just seeing him. Phenomenal person. Jeremy
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: Allen White won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: a Comedy Series. He made up people like Matt Barry
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: for What We Do in the Shadows, Larry David, Steve Martin,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Martin short again, I haven't seen the show.
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: But it's not a comedy.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Not a comedy. What the what the fuck?
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: Why like it's that's that's that's weird, right it is.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: It's very weird. I don't like it, I don't agree
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: with it, but I guess it.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: Is, Oh my god. Also, uh they they also this
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: is confirmed, they also won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: a Comedy Series. They also they also won the Supporting
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: Actress in a Comedy Series. Yeah, they also won the
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. Holy Ship, Guest
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: Actress in a comedy I'm not joking my saying by
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: the best Actress in the comedy series. They won that
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: Best Directing they want they won everything but best They
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: won everything but best writing and best uh best show.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: And again this is this is where this is where
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: it gets fucking weird. Obviously, Showgun and got second. Lad
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: you know, I know a little bit over the Showgun
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: won Best Drama Series. They broke all these records for uh,
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: emmy and sh like that. But yeah, the Bear not
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: even dominated in Best drum So again, I'm really again
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: this makes me I watch some more to understand. Why
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: is this a quote unquote comedy series when every review,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: word of mouth from friends and failing in mind and everything,
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: or hell, even every trailer or clip by sea does
