- 0:23Speaker 1: Matt Flynn.

- 0:47Speaker 3: the razor cane studio jake flan alondra taytay all here with.
- 0:52Speaker 4: You we got a couple of things to get to here.
- 0:56Speaker 2: On the show today but yeah right it's not our
- 0:59Speaker 2: vibe it's not our style before we do any of
- 1:02Speaker 2: that we go around the room A lot of times
- 1:04Speaker 2: we go around the room, then it turns into 12
- 1:05Speaker 2: minutes of seeing a lot of squirrels.
- 1:07Speaker 4: So let's go ahead and get that out of the way.
- 1:09Speaker 4: How we doing? How we living? We did. Congo Basin
- 1:12Speaker 4: was 12 minutes yesterday.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Man, we're okay. I, uh.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Oh, I don't like this.
- 1:18Speaker 5: We just did a whole show.
- 1:19Speaker 4: I got a little shoulder soreness. You doubtful?
- 1:24Speaker 5: I was doubtful to make it this morning. Oh, okay.
- 1:26Speaker 4: I was like, wait.
- 1:26Speaker 5: But I made it. I thought you.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Were about to have a full, like, Lance Harbor, like,
- 1:33Speaker 4: I had a dream, and I woke up kind of sad.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I woke up a little sad.
- 1:36Speaker 4: We're playing Baneborn.
- 1:37Speaker 5: I don't know. I know that I have some really
- 1:42Speaker 5: good people. I've got a good family, good friends out there.
- 1:46Speaker 5: I didn't realize I had that many.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Than I did last night when the news dropped.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 5: My phone hadn't been that active in forever. Mine was.
- 1:59Speaker 4: It was warm like a toaster.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 2: And we were trying to... So we got shout out
- 2:04Speaker 2: to KDC. We got KDC coming.
- 2:05Speaker 4: To the house today. You know what I mean? That's
- 2:07Speaker 4: what it was.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And so we were cleaning off like our patio area,
- 2:11Speaker 2: getting it all ready to go. And we're trying to
- 2:15Speaker 2: do that. And I think my wife's getting pretty frustrated
- 2:18Speaker 2: with me. She's like, I don't, at this point, like,
- 2:20Speaker 2: is Sam Levin hurt?
- 2:21Speaker 4: Is he not? We got to get this patio done.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I'm like, I don't know.
- 2:24Speaker 2: All these people are texting and calling me. I'm trying
- 2:26Speaker 2: to put the phone down, but I.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Mean, so.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Burns and Dorn were doing a show live from Oxford
- 2:33Speaker 2: last night. Like, they were there, like, 7 to 9 p.m.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I think it was on SiriusXM. And, like, during the break,
- 2:41Speaker 2: I got them two calling me. I'm like, guys, I'm
- 2:44Speaker 2: trying to hang this TV on this patio. Yeah, guys,
- 2:47Speaker 2: come on. I've reached out to people. We'll get there.
- 2:50Speaker 2: But I got nothing for you right now. And even
- 2:52Speaker 2: if I didn't, I probably wouldn't tell you.
- 2:54Speaker 5: That's so true.
- 2:57Speaker 6: What?
- 2:58Speaker 7: So, like, all the star players just may or may
- 2:59Speaker 7: not play?
- 3:00Speaker 5: I don't think we're– do we need to forfeit? I
- 3:04Speaker 5: mean– I don't know.
- 3:05Speaker 8: The reaction from LSU fans last night?
- 3:07Speaker 5: Yep. Don't even show up. How did anybody take that seriously?
- 3:10Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:10Speaker 7: I'm not taking that seriously.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Well, I guess I lived in a world of NFL
- 3:15Speaker 5: injury reports for so long where everybody's on the injury report. Yeah. Always.
- 3:19Speaker 5: And so it's not that big of a deal to
- 3:20Speaker 5: me to be on the injury report. A doubtful is strong. Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 5: It's quite strong.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Questionable is a lot of times where somebody like that lives. Right.
- 3:30Speaker 2: It's like, you know, you miss some practice or you
- 3:32Speaker 2: miss a period of practice. It doesn't have to be
- 3:35Speaker 2: a whole practice, but technically to the letter of the law,
- 3:38Speaker 2: like you can miss periods of practice and you can
- 3:41Speaker 2: be put on the injury report because it's factual.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Delfo is Delfo strong.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Delfo strong. I remember Aaron was on the injury report
- 3:50Speaker 5: a lot when I was there. No one ever asked
- 3:52Speaker 5: if I was playing that week, you know, he's on
- 3:56Speaker 5: the injury report.
- 3:59Speaker 4: So I don't know.
- 4:00Speaker 5: I don't, I've never really paid attention to an injury
- 4:02Speaker 5: report because I know that if you're tired and your
- 4:08Speaker 5: toe hurts, then you could technically be put on the
- 4:10Speaker 5: injury report. And there's a lot of times. So I
- 4:12Speaker 5: saw swirling around the interwebs yesterday. It's like, well, here's
- 4:16Speaker 5: the fine. If you lie on your injury report, find
- 4:21Speaker 5: out if you lie or not impossible. If your abs
- 4:23Speaker 5: are sore, cause you did too many crunches. It's it hurts. Right.
- 4:27Speaker 5: You're limited in practice. You literally could be put on
- 4:29Speaker 5: the injury report. Now coaches in the NFL were always worried.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Like you had to be put, they were quick to
- 4:36Speaker 5: put you on an injury report because the fines came.
- 4:38Speaker 5: If you didn't list somebody, right. Not because you listed
- 4:42Speaker 5: too many people for an undisclosed reason. Like you don't
- 4:45Speaker 5: have to get a second opinion from a doctor that
- 4:49Speaker 5: he has actually really hurt to put him on the list.
- 4:53Speaker 5: It's a precaution type situation. Now you, if somebody's hurt
- 4:58Speaker 5: and the doctor said he's hurt, And you don't put him,
- 5:00Speaker 5: that's when the, from my understanding, at the other level,
- 5:05Speaker 5: that's when the issues occur.
- 5:07Speaker 7: I mean, he would do this at Ole Miss. He's like,
- 5:11Speaker 7: I don't know. I'm not taking it. I'm not putting
- 5:14Speaker 7: a bunch of credence into the injury report that lists
- 5:18Speaker 7: not only Sam Levitt, but Trey Desgreen, Whit Weeks, TJ Daughtery.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Like, right, we saw that. So I, like, but what?
- 5:26Speaker 4: So all the.
- 5:27Speaker 7: People that have hype all around them, all of them.
- 5:31Speaker 6: Are on the list.
- 5:32Speaker 5: I was telling you before the show, Matt.
- 5:33Speaker 4: TJ was the one I was kind of like, hold up.
- 5:35Speaker 5: TJ needs to really be out there.
- 5:39Speaker 8: There was a game at Ole Miss one time. It
- 5:42Speaker 8: may have been when they were playing LSU. He had
- 5:44Speaker 8: 26 people listed on the injury report going into a game.
- 5:47Speaker 8: Not all 26 of those guys set out. Actually, very
- 5:50Speaker 8: few of them actually did.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah. There's a lot of people that were the smartest
- 5:54Speaker 2: guy in the room on social media last night.
- 5:55Speaker 4: No doubt.
- 5:56Speaker 2: And like you said, like how much it costs if you,
- 5:59Speaker 2: you know, mess up an injury report. You know what
- 6:02Speaker 2: was thrown out there a lot last night that's becoming
- 6:04Speaker 2: a pet peeve of mine? A thousand percent. A thousand percent.
- 6:10Speaker 2: He's put a thousand percent. I'm like, can we stop
- 6:12Speaker 2: with a thousand percent, please?
- 6:13Speaker 5: There's no such thing.
- 6:14Speaker 4: There's no such thing. Let's just go a hundred percent.
- 6:15Speaker 8: People want Lane to be fined so bad. Because you're
- 6:20Speaker 8: never going to find out if somebody was hurt or not.
- 6:23Speaker 5: What are you going to do? Show up a week later? Hey,
- 6:24Speaker 5: let's check him out. Hey, he got healthy. You're never
- 6:27Speaker 5: going to find that out.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And again, Coach Miles used to keep me out of
- 6:32Speaker 2: Monday practices almost every week. In 07, from about week
- 6:36Speaker 2: three on, I didn't practice on Mondays. If we would
- 6:39Speaker 2: have had an injury report, I would have had– and
- 6:42Speaker 2: it was just literally because he's like, look, this is corrections.
- 6:45Speaker 4: We're going to arrest you. Go in the training room.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Technical and injury report, like, you can put whatever you
- 6:50Speaker 2: want because I didn't practice. So there's a lot of
- 6:52Speaker 2: different ways this can be played out.
- 6:55Speaker 5: And I don't think, like, I've never been a coach.
- 6:58Speaker 5: I don't think it really, even if it is, like,
- 7:01Speaker 5: gamesmanship on Lane's Park, like, I don't think that it
- 7:04Speaker 5: even really works.
- 7:06Speaker 2: What, fining someone?
- 7:07Speaker 5: No, putting somebody out. Like, Ole Miss isn't going to
- 7:09Speaker 5: prepare any differently.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Yeah, sorry. I thought we were still on fire. Yeah,
- 7:12Speaker 5: they're not going to prepare any differently.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:14Speaker 4: They're preparing for number 10. Yeah.
- 7:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I will say, funny enough, Landon Clark's kind of a
- 7:20Speaker 4: clone of Sam Levitt.
- 7:20Speaker 7: I was about to say, I feel like if you're
- 7:22Speaker 7: preparing for Sam, you're also preparing for Landon Clark.
- 7:24Speaker 4: They're the same guy with the same skills.
- 7:26Speaker 5: You change nothing. You know what? If subconsciously you make
- 7:31Speaker 5: their offensive line or running backs take five minutes off
- 7:37Speaker 5: in a meeting mentally preparing because they don't think TJ
- 7:40Speaker 5: Daugherty's playing or a chance, then maybe you think that's
- 7:43Speaker 5: an advantage. Yeah. I think it's a little silly. I
- 7:44Speaker 5: think injury reports.
- 7:45Speaker 7: You should have put Prince Will on it.
- 7:47Speaker 5: Injury reports are kind of dumb. They're really for the media. Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 5: It's not for the other team, I don't think. I
- 7:54Speaker 5: never thought it to be for the other team. Injury
- 7:57Speaker 5: reports are just for the people. And he's just trolling
- 8:03Speaker 5: some people.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Who cares?
- 8:05Speaker 5: I'm like. I'm more doubtful to not take a pee
- 8:09Speaker 5: today than they are to not play.
- 8:11Speaker 2: You've got like a 97-year-old man bladder, too.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Hey, occupational hazard. DrinkMyHigh.com.
- 8:16Speaker 4: The most hydrated man in Baton Rouge.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Yeah, man. You're not going the whole show. Yeah, that's right.
- 8:21Speaker 4: The whole show. He's not going hour one.
- 8:22Speaker 5: There's a better chance that I don't take a piss
- 8:25Speaker 5: today than those players are to not play in the game.
- 8:34Speaker 2: That's so aggressive.
- 8:35Speaker 5: That means they're going to play. And I base this
- 8:39Speaker 5: on absolutely nothing. Just my feeling.
- 8:44Speaker 2: The doubtful portion of it is the interesting part, I think,
- 8:48Speaker 2: to a lot of people.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Yeah, because doubtful is like. It's doubtful. Right. I mean,
- 8:54Speaker 4: it's what it is.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Maybe there's, you know, maybe there is some smoke. Maybe there,
- 8:58Speaker 2: you know, you don't pull maybe it all out of
- 9:00Speaker 2: thin air. So that's something to pay attention to. A
- 9:02Speaker 2: doubtful tag does, you know, make you think a little bit.
- 9:04Speaker 2: But am I with you?
- 9:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I think.
- 9:06Speaker 4: He's going to play like.
- 9:07Speaker 2: A guy like that, it would be very, very hard
- 9:09Speaker 2: for him not to play in this game.
- 9:13Speaker 7: I just had something I was going to ask.
- 9:16Speaker 5: I lost it.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Hey, let me find it.
- 9:20Speaker 5: 13 times an hour.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I can't find it.
- 9:26Speaker 8: The thing that I want people to be aware of
- 9:29Speaker 8: is like, if for some reason he does not play,
- 9:31Speaker 8: this is not a disaster scenario.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Okay. I mean, there's so many people out there that are.
- 9:37Speaker 8: Like, Oh, what's going to happen? Look, I know that
- 9:41Speaker 8: I've talked about this guy. I know Jake sent a
- 9:43Speaker 8: text last night. Man, Taylor's so excited right now. Obviously,
- 9:47Speaker 8: you're a better team.
- 9:49Speaker 5: That table just went up.
- 9:50Speaker 8: You're obviously a better team with Sam Levitt, but this
- 9:53Speaker 8: guy can play. He had 29 touchdowns last year, started
- 9:56Speaker 8: a whole season, and let's not forget, I understand they're
- 10:00Speaker 8: two completely different people and they'll react differently. But this
- 10:03Speaker 8: precedent was set just last year in Lane Kiffin's offense
- 10:06Speaker 8: when third game of the season, Trinidad Shambles stepped in,
- 10:09Speaker 8: became the starter. He thrived in Lane Kiffin's system and
- 10:12Speaker 8: the rest is history. Now, does that mean that's going
- 10:14Speaker 8: to happen again? No, but Landon Clark has talent. We've
- 10:17Speaker 8: seen it through the first four games or two games.
- 10:19Speaker 8: You saw it last year at Elon.
- 10:21Speaker 5: It's fine. Everybody relax.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Whoa.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Are you sweating? Whoa. You sweating over there?
- 10:28Speaker 1: Me?
- 10:30Speaker 5: You're absolutely right.
- 10:31Speaker 2: If somebody is doubtful, by the way, there is a
- 10:32Speaker 2: chance that he had an off day and did not practice.
- 10:36Speaker 2: There's a realistic chance that that did happen. Like I said,
- 10:39Speaker 2: there might be something that is out there. Now, it
- 10:43Speaker 2: might not be truly doubtful, but there is a chance
- 10:46Speaker 2: that he didn't practice.
- 10:48Speaker 4: I was going to.
- 10:49Speaker 5: Say that Scott, I think it was Scott Rabelais.
- 10:51Speaker 7: He posted a video of him after the Louisiana tech
- 10:55Speaker 7: game and he was walking a little gingerly.
- 10:56Speaker 5: So yeah, maybe he was sore.
- 10:57Speaker 7: Maybe his foot that he had surgery on was a
- 11:00Speaker 7: little sore and maybe missed Monday practice or something, but
- 11:03Speaker 7: I don't know. Also, Taylor told us that he was
- 11:07Speaker 7: not at player interviews.
- 11:09Speaker 4: He was supposed to be. Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 5: Tuesday.
- 11:11Speaker 8: Uh, we, we were there, we got wet, we got
- 11:13Speaker 8: Prince will, and we were supposed to get Sam on.
- 11:16Speaker 5: I told us before. We're waiting around like.
- 11:18Speaker 8: Almost 30 minutes at this point.
- 11:20Speaker 5: And Bonnet said, hey, he's probably running a little late.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Let me go get it.
- 11:23Speaker 8: Came back maybe five minutes later and said, guys, we
- 11:25Speaker 8: can't find Sam. I guess nobody told him he was
- 11:27Speaker 8: supposed to do this.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Not available today. We'll see y'all.
- 11:30Speaker 8: Thanks for coming out. And, you know, I made a joke.
- 11:32Speaker 8: I even asked Bonnet, well, give us Landon Clark or something.
- 11:36Speaker 8: And then, you know, he kind of chuckled. And it's like,
- 11:38Speaker 8: it's not so funny now looking back on it. But
- 11:40Speaker 8: at the time, you're like, oh, yeah, Sam's sneaking out.
- 11:44Speaker 5: No big deal. Didn't want to talk to the media.
- 11:45Speaker 5: But maybe there was some. I will say, if he
- 11:48Speaker 5: is injured, he would have been in the building.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Getting treatment.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Getting treatment, yeah. He wouldn't have been at home.
- 12:00Speaker 7: But also, I like how Bonette said nobody told him.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Like, isn't that Bonette's job to tell him?
- 12:04Speaker 5: Yeah, he was like, oh, I don't think he knew.
- 12:06Speaker 8: Or maybe he just snuck out like Burrow used to do, ha-ha,
- 12:10Speaker 8: and just kind of shrugged it off.
- 12:11Speaker 4: We used to have notes in our locker.
- 12:13Speaker 5: He's Burrow?
- 12:14Speaker 4: Remember, we used to have the notes. People are comparing them.
- 12:16Speaker 5: People are comparing them.
- 12:17Speaker 2: And it would just be like, hey, you've been requested
- 12:20Speaker 2: to stay after practice for media.
- 12:21Speaker 4: You remember those?
- 12:22Speaker 7: It's like getting summoned.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I hadn't thought about that since the last time I
- 12:26Speaker 4: got one.
- 12:27Speaker 2: That's how you would know. So technically, nobody comes and
- 12:29Speaker 2: gets you. You would just have a note.
- 12:31Speaker 4: I didn't get a lot of those until last year.
- 12:34Speaker 4: You didn't get any for being an all-SEC holder?
- 12:37Speaker 5: That's a great point. It's kind of weird. People say
- 12:41Speaker 5: I was the best to ever do it.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Hear that blame fish?
- 12:46Speaker 5: I mean, I would dominate a blame, for sure. You
- 12:48Speaker 5: were so good at it, you did it.
- 12:50Speaker 8: Again, you did it as the starting quarterback, which you
- 12:53Speaker 8: were the first person I ever saw do that.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Wait, do what?
- 12:56Speaker 5: He was the holder for the special teams as the starter.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Which is.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Well, because I had guys like Jake, who were my backup,
- 13:03Speaker 5: and I saw those big hands holding practice, and I
- 13:06Speaker 5: was like, I ain't working hard to put this team
- 13:08Speaker 5: in the end zone. And then this guy's going to
- 13:10Speaker 5: mess it up with those big hands. Jake's holding it.
- 13:12Speaker 5: The kicker's like, Coach, I can't see the ball.
- 13:14Speaker 4: You know what? It's actually a pretty fair point. It's
- 13:17Speaker 4: probably pretty distracting.
- 13:18Speaker 5: For the kicker. Like, which one's the ball?
- 13:20Speaker 4: Yeah, which one's the ball? What did I kick here?
- 13:22Speaker 4: I was trying to protect you, buddy. I hated doing it.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I'd try to sneak out of practice. Because it was
- 13:27Speaker 2: always after practice. You'd get like 15 of them or so.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And they'd be like, Hester, come get 10. I've already
- 13:36Speaker 2: got my pads off, Coach.
- 13:37Speaker 5: No. I just want to go in. So how many
- 13:40Speaker 5: people can say that they were the greatest to do
- 13:43Speaker 5: it in the history of their program?
- 13:47Speaker 4: Can you say that?
- 13:48Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Yeah, you're a lot of heavy lifting over there.
- 13:51Speaker 5: Not my main position. My other position. Greatest holder.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I guess, and it will probably come back throughout the show,
- 14:01Speaker 2: but a.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Couple things.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I would assume that Sam Levitt's playing in this game.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I would be surprised if he doesn't. If he is
- 14:11Speaker 2: truly doubtful, if he doesn't play in this game, you
- 14:13Speaker 2: have a, I would say, a clone of the same quarterback,
- 14:17Speaker 2: and you don't change anything in your offense. And I'm
- 14:20Speaker 2: not trying to be funny when I say this.
- 14:21Speaker 4: When I saw T.J. Dottery on the injury list, that.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Was the one that I asked most people about.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I got a little heart flutter on that one.
- 14:29Speaker 2: When it said questionable for him, I was like, this
- 14:33Speaker 2: is not the one I want to see. And so
- 14:34Speaker 2: then I saw that Moscona had done an interview with
- 14:36Speaker 2: him earlier in the day, and I saw Matt say,
- 14:38Speaker 2: kind of like joke around and say, I just did this.
- 14:40Speaker 5: He's playing.
- 14:41Speaker 4: That gave me a lot of peace of mind.
- 14:43Speaker 5: It did. I'm not going to lie. I was like,
- 14:45Speaker 5: I need that guy.
- 14:45Speaker 2: TJ and what he means in a game like this
- 14:47Speaker 2: with this quarterback you're facing and Trinidad Chambliss, you need
- 14:51Speaker 2: him on the field and you need him next.
- 14:53Speaker 5: To Whit Weeks.
- 14:53Speaker 4: And so that was something that certainly stood out to me. So,
- 14:56Speaker 4: all right, we'll take a break.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Obviously, if we get any information or if we hear
- 15:00Speaker 2: anything about Sam Levitt during the show, we'll give that
- 15:03Speaker 2: to you. It's probably going to break at 10.01 like
- 15:04Speaker 2: it often does.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Let's see if we can get him in studio. Why not?
- 15:07Speaker 4: Let's call it. More OTB when we come back.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Off the Bench. Tigers turn talkers. This is Off The Bench. Hmm.
- 16:04Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in O-T-B. Here live from the
- 16:08Speaker 4: Razor Canes studio.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Alondra, this is my love language right here.
- 16:14Speaker 4: This is a good song.
- 16:15Speaker 5: That whole album. You can play the whole album. I
- 16:17Speaker 5: think this was number two or three.
- 16:18Speaker 4: President of the United States of America?
- 16:20Speaker 5: Yeah. Peaches. Little dune buggy.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Weird Al really liked covering some of their songs.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Little parodies.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Big Gump.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I think he also did a Peaches one, if I'm
- 16:31Speaker 2: not mistaken.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Probably.
- 16:33Speaker 4: I think he did.
- 16:34Speaker 5: What would he say instead of peaches?
- 16:36Speaker 4: I really don't remember.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Leeches?
- 16:40Speaker 4: Beaches?
- 16:41Speaker 5: Maybe. Actually, that feels right.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 16:44Speaker 5: These little beaches. What?
- 16:50Speaker 7: All the good songs aren't long enough, though. Like, this
- 16:53Speaker 7: song's only like two minutes long.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Yeah. Short and sweet. Look, you get in, you get out.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Get in and you get out.
- 17:01Speaker 2: All right, so we talked about The injury report. By
- 17:04Speaker 2: the way, we didn't call Flynn out. Like, I said
- 17:06Speaker 2: we were going to be our normal selves for, like,
- 17:08Speaker 2: 12 to 15 minutes, and then we'd get into it.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Matt went right into it. Big sports guy. Big J journalist,
- 17:15Speaker 4: Matt Flynn.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Well, I really want to take our show and turn
- 17:19Speaker 5: it a little bit more serious.
- 17:21Speaker 4: No.
- 17:23Speaker 7: We might be top five, then, if we do that.
- 17:25Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 17:26Speaker 5: We're just outside the top five right now.
- 17:27Speaker 4: I'd rather be number six.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd rather be 60. I mean, you know, you know.
- 17:32Speaker 4: We got serious stuff after us, you know?
- 17:35Speaker 5: Yeah. I mean, I really wasn't serious. I jumped into
- 17:39Speaker 5: the conversation by making a joke. Something about doubtful. I
- 17:43Speaker 5: don't remember. It was funny.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Ah.
- 17:45Speaker 7: Something about taking a piss.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Something about taking a piss, yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 17:49Speaker 4: You did say. You said a couple things. I'm like, buddy.
- 17:52Speaker 5: What?
- 17:52Speaker 4: It's carpool time.
- 17:53Speaker 5: What are you doing? It's not. It's not. It was
- 17:55Speaker 5: too early for carpool.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Again, just because your children's school is a little bit later,
- 18:02Speaker 2: my children were already in the car.
- 18:04Speaker 4: They leave at 7. Well, don't live so far away.
- 18:09Speaker 5: We don't.
- 18:10Speaker 8: Anyways.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I wasn't kidding when I said, though, about, like, with
- 18:19Speaker 2: the injury report. Like, TJ Daughtery was my. And that
- 18:24Speaker 2: is not a slight at Sam Leavitt at all. I
- 18:27Speaker 2: think it's one, it's like faith in Landon Clark if
- 18:30Speaker 2: that did end up being a situation. I really do
- 18:32Speaker 2: think somebody like that and his mentality, just from what
- 18:35Speaker 2: you hear around the building, if he had to step in,
- 18:38Speaker 2: he'd be ready to go.
- 18:39Speaker 4: But I think T.J.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Dottery has unlocked so many things for this defense. I
- 18:43Speaker 2: think he unlocked so many things for Whit Weeks as
- 18:45Speaker 2: well because his athletic ability, his football IQ allows him
- 18:50Speaker 2: to be in the right spot at the right time
- 18:53Speaker 2: and be an uber-athletic linebacker that pairs that football IQ
- 19:00Speaker 2: to be like an all-conference type player. And then when
- 19:03Speaker 2: you have that, Whit Weeks next to him doesn't have
- 19:07Speaker 2: to be all those things. Like, Whit Weeks can be
- 19:08Speaker 2: the wild man. He can be the wild banshee. He
- 19:11Speaker 2: can do a lot of Whit Weeks things that we
- 19:13Speaker 2: saw him do two years ago when he was fully healthy.
- 19:17Speaker 2: And if you don't have a T.J. Dottery that can
- 19:19Speaker 2: do those things, then, well, then, like, Whit has to
- 19:22Speaker 2: do those things.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Now, T.J.
- 19:24Speaker 2: 's going to make his own plays, make no mistake
- 19:26Speaker 2: about it, but you pointed this out in the first
- 19:29Speaker 2: film review that we did. Like, there was plays that
- 19:32Speaker 2: were made because T.J. Dottery set everybody else to make
- 19:35Speaker 2: those plays.
- 19:36Speaker 5: Yep.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And Whit made the play and I believe, I believe
- 19:40Speaker 2: Benefield made one because T.J.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Set it up. To me, he's like, he is the
- 19:46Speaker 4: most important piece right now. It could change. It could change.
- 19:49Speaker 2: But, TJ daughter might be the most important piece to
- 19:52Speaker 2: this defense for what he does for everybody else around him.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Yeah. It's a big statement to say because of a
- 19:59Speaker 5: defense that's been so good. The number one defense in
- 20:01Speaker 5: the country so far through two games, there's been a
- 20:06Speaker 5: lot of important and impressive pieces and, I think he's
- 20:12Speaker 5: certainly been the biggest surprise to me in watching film,
- 20:17Speaker 5: and he has flashed the most times, and he has
- 20:21Speaker 5: been the most impressive piece to me on this defense.
- 20:25Speaker 5: I think, just like you said, when I saw him
- 20:27Speaker 5: on the injury, and I don't put a lot of
- 20:29Speaker 5: credence into injury list. Again, I guess I look at
- 20:33Speaker 5: injury list from an NFL standpoint. Everybody's always on it. Like,
- 20:37Speaker 5: if you're sore, if you're limited in any way and
- 20:39Speaker 5: it's a long season, like, I don't look at that.
- 20:43Speaker 5: But I did see his name, and I'm like, man,
- 20:45Speaker 5: we really need that guy, especially this week because we
- 20:48Speaker 5: are facing Trinidad-Chambers. And I do believe the combination between T.J.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Daughtery and Whit Weeks is the best, has to be
- 20:54Speaker 5: the best linebacker. I hadn't studied every linebacker tandem, but
- 20:57Speaker 5: it has to be. There's nobody better in college football
- 20:59Speaker 5: than those two. The way they fly around, the way
- 21:01Speaker 5: they work with each other. T.J. Daugherty has been the
- 21:03Speaker 5: most impressive player to me on the defensive side of
- 21:05Speaker 5: the ball, not just because of he's making every play
- 21:08Speaker 5: and making every tackle. He is involved in every play.
- 21:12Speaker 2: He's been the highest graded player for LSU on defense
- 21:15Speaker 2: with a 94.8 grade on pro football focus.
- 21:20Speaker 4: It's two games. I get that. I understand that.
- 21:22Speaker 6: 94.8.
- 21:22Speaker 2: And he's first by a lot. Like in terms of grades,
- 21:29Speaker 2: like Jordan Ross at 91.3 is number two. Right. So
- 21:33Speaker 2: like what we're saying is kind of getting backed up
- 21:35Speaker 2: by the film. And you've probably noticed it as well.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Talking to the listeners here. And if you haven't watched
- 21:42Speaker 2: that guy during this game on Saturday. Again, when we
- 21:46Speaker 2: talk about like setting everybody else up, it doesn't mean
- 21:48Speaker 2: that he doesn't make plays like he'll make tackles and
- 21:50Speaker 2: I'll make TFLs and he'll rush the quarterback. But when
- 21:53Speaker 2: we talk about football IQ, it's like in the coverage
- 21:56Speaker 2: lanes and him knowing where to get to a spot,
- 21:58Speaker 2: that's where I think he's probably been the best. And
- 22:00Speaker 2: it doesn't show up because he's in the right spot
- 22:03Speaker 2: so the quarterback doesn't go there. But he has a
- 22:06Speaker 2: purpose to get to his coverage lanes. And a lot
- 22:09Speaker 2: of times in college, you'll have even a good linebacker.
- 22:11Speaker 2: He'll kind of get there, then he'll drift a little
- 22:13Speaker 2: bit and allow the quarterback's eyes to dictate kind of
- 22:16Speaker 2: where he goes and doesn't get to his spot and
- 22:18Speaker 2: is firm and confident in his spot. But with TJ
- 22:21Speaker 2: Daugherty so far, He's been really good in coverage. I
- 22:24Speaker 2: think he's been really good slipping blocks as well. Like
- 22:28Speaker 2: we said, maybe not even for himself to make the play,
- 22:31Speaker 2: but for somebody else to make the play. He's been
- 22:33Speaker 2: a lot of fun. I knew he was a good player.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I talked about it the other day because I had
- 22:37Speaker 2: Ole Miss. That was my team I was assigned to
- 22:39Speaker 2: during the playoff run for serious last year, and I
- 22:41Speaker 2: got a chance to watch him each and every week.
- 22:43Speaker 2: But I'd be lying if I said that I thought
- 22:46Speaker 2: he would be this impactful this soon, but I do
- 22:48Speaker 2: think it's because you have number six and number seven
- 22:52Speaker 2: next to each other, and I think that unlocks something
- 22:54Speaker 2: for this LSU team.
- 22:55Speaker 5: He has been the surprise of the year for me
- 22:58Speaker 5: so far in a positive way. And again, two games.
- 23:02Speaker 5: And you can even make the argument that they were
- 23:04Speaker 5: both bad teams. You can make that argument.
- 23:07Speaker 4: I get it.
- 23:08Speaker 5: But what I'm seeing from a physical standpoint, he has
- 23:11Speaker 5: played so far like a first-round linebacker. And that is
- 23:15Speaker 5: not an overstatement. I would bet that most coaches, most
- 23:21Speaker 5: football people like looking at that tape. He flips a
- 23:23Speaker 5: sip like a DB. Yeah. He has pop. He can
- 23:25Speaker 5: run around the corner. He can rush. He has football.
- 23:27Speaker 5: IQ is really good. And that's, what's really cool about
- 23:30Speaker 5: this defense. Not only are they good and tenacious and
- 23:33Speaker 5: they fly around and play like their hair's on fire,
- 23:36Speaker 5: they do it smartly. And that's a sign of kids.
- 23:38Speaker 5: They get it. They have good heads on their shoulders,
- 23:41Speaker 5: but they're also coached really well. They understand not just
- 23:43Speaker 5: what they're doing, but why they're doing it. Why? Like, Okay, TJ,
- 23:47Speaker 5: you might not be making this play, but understand why
- 23:50Speaker 5: you're not making this play because you are taking two
- 23:53Speaker 5: blockers so your partner in crime can come around and
- 23:56Speaker 5: loop around the other side. They understand all that. But then, again,
- 23:59Speaker 5: we've seen it in coverage. He can flip his hips
- 24:00Speaker 5: like a DB and make a play down the field.
- 24:02Speaker 5: Now he dropped the ball, hands like feet maybe.
- 24:04Speaker 2: That's why he's over there not playing tight end.
- 24:07Speaker 5: So I hate to give a lot of defensive people
- 24:09Speaker 5: credit for being high football IQ because, you know, defensive people. Dum-dums.
- 24:16Speaker 5: cavemen over there. But you know what? Our guys, smarter.
- 24:20Speaker 5: The smartest cavemen. Okay. You like that? Sure. See how
- 24:25Speaker 5: I spun that?
- 24:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 5: Still don't want to give defensive people too much love. Compliment-ish? Compliment-ish. Oh, man.
- 24:33Speaker 2: I do feel like, and we'll probably come back and
- 24:35Speaker 2: talk about this a little bit. All the talk about
- 24:39Speaker 2: this game has been about what? The offense for LSU
- 24:43Speaker 2: and the offense for Ole Miss. Not enough conversation has
- 24:46Speaker 2: been about the defense in this game. Not enough conversation
- 24:49Speaker 2: even goes back to a year ago when LSU and
- 24:52Speaker 2: Ole Miss played and some of the success relative to
- 24:56Speaker 2: what Ole Miss was doing offensively against literally everybody else
- 24:59Speaker 2: is talked about. So when I hear people talk about
- 25:01Speaker 2: this matchup and I heard somebody say, well, even Kirby
- 25:04Speaker 2: Smart couldn't slow him down last year. Well, Blake Baker
- 25:09Speaker 2: and LSU did the best job on this offense, I think. Like,
- 25:14Speaker 2: when you go back in, look, Ole Miss still had success.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Ole Miss won the game with this coaching staff that's
- 25:18Speaker 2: now at LSU offensively. But I think this LSU defense,
- 25:24Speaker 2: as good as they were last year, they were good.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I think it's much better. Like, you add T.J. Dottery,
- 25:30Speaker 2: you add Jordan Ross, you add Deuce Gerald, you add
- 25:32Speaker 2: Ty Benefield, Umami Ellen off the edge. Like, this defense
- 25:37Speaker 2: was a top 30 defense last year. I think it's
- 25:40Speaker 2: better this year. You've got a healthy Whit Weeks. It
- 25:43Speaker 2: wasn't healthy at all last year. So the job that
- 25:45Speaker 2: they did schematically, I think, against them last year, and
- 25:50Speaker 2: you pair that with the guys that they've added physically,
- 25:53Speaker 2: and then, as you'll see later, we just did another
- 25:56Speaker 2: Eye in the Sky episode. This offense is a little
- 25:58Speaker 2: bit different as far as the bells and whistles to it.
- 26:01Speaker 5: And I'll show you, and to add on to what
- 26:03Speaker 5: you're saying, I actually, you know, if you're playing the
- 26:06Speaker 5: name game and the who's who of college football and
- 26:09Speaker 5: the star game, like, You're like, man, this Ole Miss
- 26:12Speaker 5: offense is going to be great. I watched the film.
- 26:15Speaker 5: I actually like our matchup defensively versus their offense. And
- 26:20Speaker 5: I got a couple of reasons why. And I'll share
- 26:23Speaker 5: that with you after the break.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Ooh, radio tease. What a pro.
- 26:28Speaker 2: More OTB when we come back.
- 26:32Speaker 6: Off the bench.
- 26:33Speaker 2: All right, go to TrashRangers.com. Residential commercial trash pickup service.
- 26:38Speaker 4: And remember.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Well, maybe you don't remember, and that's why you need
- 26:41Speaker 2: Trash Rangers, because if you forget to put your trash out,
- 26:44Speaker 2: you're in trouble.
- 26:44Speaker 4: You're on the couch. I forgot to say that.
- 26:46Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 26:47Speaker 2: But if you work with Trash Rangers, look, Matt's not
- 26:51Speaker 2: a lucky one that's in the area that they service. Now,
- 26:53Speaker 2: he can do the roll-off dumpsters, which he takes full
- 26:55Speaker 2: advantage of. He can do the portable restrooms, which he
- 26:58Speaker 2: takes full advantage of. But if you're lucky enough to
- 27:00Speaker 2: be on that footprint, remember, weekly text reminders the night before,
- 27:04Speaker 2: hey— trash tomorrow go put it out and that way
- 27:07Speaker 2: you don't get in trouble that way you don't feel
- 27:09Speaker 2: like a dum-dum you know it feels like a dum-dum right.
- 27:11Speaker 5: Now me matt flynn me i do i was so
- 27:14Speaker 5: worried about coming in filming eye in the sky this
- 27:16Speaker 5: morning that like i forgot to take the trash out

- 27:22Speaker 5: rangers sanitation apartment i got one because we got a
- 27:24Speaker 5: little construction they're so nice sometimes i just walk out

- 27:31Speaker 5: the best trash rangers.com.
- 27:40Speaker 6: Make up your mind Decide to walk with me Around
- 27:51Speaker 6: the lake tonight Around the lake tonight By my side.

- 28:05Speaker 1: off the bench with hester and flynn baton rouge's go-to
- 28:09Speaker 1: for all things louisiana sports.
- 28:16Speaker 2: All right before uh matt gets to his tease and
- 28:23Speaker 2: he definitely remembers what he teased well I'm going to
- 28:26Speaker 2: tell you about Tommy's Windows Doors and Siding.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Go to GoTommies, G-E-A-U-X, Tommy's with a Y dot com.
- 28:34Speaker 2: When you go to the website, remember you'll clearly see
- 28:37Speaker 2: the difference and you'll understand why they are award winning
- 28:39Speaker 2: over at Tommy's Windows Doors and Siding. Don't forget they
- 28:42Speaker 2: also do gutters, but I mentioned award winning every year
- 28:45Speaker 2: since 2016, the Angie Super Service Award. They've won that.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Best Windows in the Advocate a year ago. That was
- 28:51Speaker 2: Tommy's Windows Doors and Siding. Go to GoTommies, G-E-A-U-X, Tommy's
- 28:55Speaker 2: with a Y dot com.
- 28:58Speaker 5: G-E-A-U-X. Let's go. Holy moly. Let's see. Do you remember? Oh,
- 29:08Speaker 5: hell yeah, dude. That's all I can think about.
- 29:10Speaker 4: Before the break.
- 29:11Speaker 5: That's all I can think about. Because I forgot. That's
- 29:13Speaker 5: all I can think about. All anybody's talking about is
- 29:15Speaker 5: Trinidad Chambliss. He's 40 years old. Playing in his 10th
- 29:19Speaker 5: year of college football. He's so good. Yeah, he's pretty good. But.
- 29:27Speaker 5: So is LSU's defense. I actually very much like the
- 29:31Speaker 5: matchup between LSU's defense and the Ole Miss offense. And yes,
- 29:37Speaker 5: Trinidad is good. I watched the Ole Miss-Louisville film, and
- 29:42Speaker 5: we all know that that was a closer game than
- 29:44Speaker 5: a lot of people expected. I know Louisville is a
- 29:47Speaker 5: good team. I think they had the third highest odds
- 29:50Speaker 5: before the season, third highest odds to win the ACC.
- 29:54Speaker 5: So they were a little bit of probably, they're a
- 29:56Speaker 5: good team. Are they a great team?
- 29:58Speaker 2: No.
- 29:59Speaker 5: But it was going to be a tough matchup first
- 30:01Speaker 5: game out. I'm watching the offense, and they do seem
- 30:06Speaker 5: a little bit bland. They seem a little bit boring.
- 30:09Speaker 5: Not a lot of creativity from Ole Miss on their offense.
- 30:14Speaker 5: The most creative stuff they do is before the snap.
- 30:17Speaker 5: They do a lot of motions and shifts. I don't
- 30:20Speaker 5: know the stats from the running game because we are
- 30:22Speaker 5: locked out of an account to find these stats. but
- 30:25Speaker 5: they looked like 75% of their runs were some sort
- 30:28Speaker 5: of counter. So it was, and I'm not going to
- 30:34Speaker 5: say that I broke down Lane's offense a ton last
- 30:36Speaker 5: year from Ole Miss, but it looked like a little
- 30:38Speaker 5: bit of a shadow itself. Now, of course, that was
- 30:40Speaker 5: game one, so I'm sure they're installing more things, but
- 30:44Speaker 5: here's one of the reasons, one of my takeaways from
- 30:46Speaker 5: that film and why I like this matchup. outside of
- 30:51Speaker 5: just the athleticism and the speed that LSU has on defense.
- 30:54Speaker 5: From a schematic standpoint, from an X's and O's standpoint,
- 30:58Speaker 5: what I saw from Ole Miss when they got pressure looks,
- 31:01Speaker 5: so let's just say they're in a two-by-two set, two
- 31:03Speaker 5: receivers to the left, two receivers to the right, or
- 31:05Speaker 5: an 11 personnel where they had to tie it in
- 31:08Speaker 5: off the line of scrimmage, or even a three-by-one. When
- 31:10Speaker 5: they got pressure looks, so either two linebackers in the A-gap,
- 31:15Speaker 5: or a cover zero type look, type shell. When they
- 31:18Speaker 5: got people lined up to the line of scrimmage, that
- 31:20Speaker 5: challenges their protection rules. Their protection adjustments or their calls
- 31:26Speaker 5: would be, let's go to a seven-man protection. And that's
- 31:30Speaker 5: different offensive coordinators have different philosophies. I think everybody has
- 31:34Speaker 5: a seven-man protection rule or an addition or an option
- 31:39Speaker 5: in their playbook. But they did it multiple times where
- 31:41Speaker 5: they blocked with seven people. Now, if you do the math,
- 31:44Speaker 5: you block with seven people. You got a quarterback that
- 31:46Speaker 5: leaves three people to run a route. So, yes, it
- 31:50Speaker 5: is more sound from a protection standpoint. But just because
- 31:55Speaker 5: you line up those linebackers and DBs in a lot
- 31:57Speaker 5: of scrimmage doesn't mean they necessarily come, right? What have
- 32:01Speaker 5: we seen LSU's defense and Blake Baker do time and
- 32:05Speaker 5: time and time again this season? Well, they bring simulated pressures.
- 32:10Speaker 7: Right.
- 32:10Speaker 5: Which means they show pressure. Heck, they even bring a nickel.
- 32:15Speaker 5: They even bring a linebacker. But it's simulated. So simulated
- 32:18Speaker 5: means they give you a pressure look. They actually bring
- 32:21Speaker 5: a second-level defender, but they drop people into coverage. Yeah.
- 32:25Speaker 5: So simulated means they're still going to rush four, and
- 32:29Speaker 5: sometimes they're even rushing three.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:32Speaker 5: I'm watching this, and I'm saying as much as Blake
- 32:35Speaker 5: Baker likes to bluff and show and disguise and do
- 32:38Speaker 5: all this eye candy and show pressure, if Ole Miss
- 32:41Speaker 5: keeps that in there, that tool, and uses that this week,
- 32:46Speaker 5: if they check to seven-man protections, the majority of the
- 32:49Speaker 5: time that they do that, they're still going to be
- 32:52Speaker 5: running three receiver routes against seven people in coverage and
- 32:56Speaker 5: sometimes even eight people in coverage. And that's not a
- 32:59Speaker 5: good matchup. Trinidad is not good enough. to be able
- 33:02Speaker 5: to sit there and hold the ball, go through reads. Now,
- 33:05Speaker 5: he's good enough to scramble and make plays, but with
- 33:08Speaker 5: the speed of LSU's safeties, the speed of their linebackers,
- 33:10Speaker 5: in fact, the speed of their defensive ends, he's just
- 33:14Speaker 5: not going to be able to make those plays. So
- 33:15Speaker 5: if you're just thinking about it, I mean, if you're
- 33:17Speaker 5: playing your backyard ball, if you're in recess and you've
- 33:21Speaker 5: got three guys running around and they have seven or
- 33:24Speaker 5: eight guys covering it, there's not a great chance unless
- 33:26Speaker 5: you're running around and doing a lot of things. So
- 33:29Speaker 5: that's one of the matchups that I like. I also
- 33:31Speaker 5: believe that this is going to be a huge safety
- 33:33Speaker 5: game for LSU. The safeties have not really had the
- 33:36Speaker 5: opportunity to flash and make a ton of plays. I
- 33:40Speaker 5: think we believe that Ty Benefield is going to be
- 33:43Speaker 5: a star player this season. He hasn't had to do
- 33:46Speaker 5: a lot to Marcus Cooley. Hasn't had a lot of
- 33:48Speaker 5: standing around because the front seven's making all the plays.
- 33:53Speaker 5: So I think Ty Benefield's got five tackles on the year.
- 33:55Speaker 5: I think he's going to double that count after this game. Okay.
- 34:00Speaker 5: I think he's going to be flying around. I said
- 34:03Speaker 5: this last year. We're going to have to get great
- 34:05Speaker 5: play from the safeties. Trinidad is going to make some plays.
- 34:08Speaker 5: They're going to do. They got the eye candy. They
- 34:10Speaker 5: got jet sweeps. They fake tosses. They fake options. They
- 34:12Speaker 5: pull guards. They pull tackles, tight ends. He's going to
- 34:16Speaker 5: get to the second level. But when our safeties have
- 34:20Speaker 5: made plays this season, they have been shot out of
- 34:22Speaker 5: a cannon. They come down so hard. And not just
- 34:25Speaker 5: Ty Benefield. Marcus Cooley made a couple of plays against
- 34:28Speaker 5: Louisiana Tech. I was like, oh, my God. Where did
- 34:31Speaker 5: he come from? Does he run a 4-1-40? And then
- 34:36Speaker 5: they go and they have the body control to go
- 34:37Speaker 5: there and make a tackle. And they're shooting for knees.
- 34:41Speaker 5: They're shooting for thighs. They're getting them down on the
- 34:42Speaker 5: ground quickly. I said that on the broadcast.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I said, you know what I haven't noticed is it
- 34:48Speaker 2: taking a second guy to get somebody down so far
- 34:51Speaker 2: from LSU's defense. the sure tackling has been something that's
- 34:55Speaker 2: maybe been as impressive as anything to me. And I
- 34:57Speaker 2: mentioned that on the call on Saturday, I said, I
- 34:59Speaker 2: was talking to Chris and I was like, how many
- 35:01Speaker 2: times have we seen one guy go for the tackle?
- 35:03Speaker 4: He missed it.
- 35:04Speaker 2: And then the guy get 11 extra yards and it
- 35:06Speaker 2: take a second guy.
- 35:07Speaker 4: I was like, I really can't remember one.
- 35:09Speaker 2: And in a game like this, as you know, like
- 35:12Speaker 2: Ole Miss likes to throw, you know, they'll throw a
- 35:14Speaker 2: now screen and they'll do a bunch of different stuff
- 35:16Speaker 2: and they'll go three by one and they'll have a
- 35:19Speaker 2: trips formation and they'll throw it to the back guy
- 35:21Speaker 2: and the two guys in front of him block.
- 35:23Speaker 4: And they'd like to get seven yards by doing that.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Like that's important in a matchup like this because you
- 35:28Speaker 2: don't want seven to turn into seven deep.
- 35:29Speaker 5: Yeah. And what's one thing. And to kind of like
- 35:32Speaker 5: tie this whole conversation together. If you are, if your
- 35:35Speaker 5: answer to a lot of pressure looks is a seven
- 35:38Speaker 5: man protection and you drop seven into coverage, what does
- 35:41Speaker 5: that allow you to do? It allows you to spy.
- 35:44Speaker 5: It allows you to understand what the offense is trying. What,
- 35:48Speaker 5: As a defense, if you understand the offense's answers and
- 35:52Speaker 5: what their playbook, what their answers are to different looks,
- 35:55Speaker 5: you know how to attack it. And if you spy
- 35:58Speaker 5: with Ty Benefit, if you spy with Marcus, whoever that is, yes,
- 36:02Speaker 5: Trinidad can hurt you with his speed. But not if
- 36:05Speaker 5: somebody else is just as fast as him out there
- 36:08Speaker 5: that is spying him from a safety position. And so
- 36:12Speaker 5: it's going to be a fascinating matchup. We'll see if
- 36:15Speaker 5: Ole Miss comes with some different answers again based on
- 36:18Speaker 5: a lot of this off just of one game tape,
- 36:20Speaker 5: but there's only really one game tape to really watch.
- 36:23Speaker 5: There's a diff different off, like the same offensive, like philosophy,
- 36:28Speaker 5: but a different offensive playbook. Certainly. No, there's going to
- 36:30Speaker 5: be similarities there. They've run some, they, they threw a
- 36:33Speaker 5: touchdown on a play that, that Joe Montana ran back
- 36:36Speaker 5: in the late eighties.
- 36:37Speaker 4: Like it was Joe Montana, Joe Montana.
- 36:39Speaker 5: And, uh, it's a play that shouldn't be open, but
- 36:41Speaker 5: it is, it's three man route concept. The guy gets
- 36:43Speaker 5: open in the same, the cornerback doesn't fold over.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Like, Oh, It's almost like you can see that if
- 36:48Speaker 2: you watch the eye in the sky we're dropping later.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Almost. Almost like you can see that. But I think
- 36:55Speaker 5: the team speed on defense is going to outshine. Again,
- 36:59Speaker 5: Trinidad's good. I don't know. I think that he's going to.
- 37:03Speaker 4: He's going to make a play in this game.
- 37:05Speaker 5: He's going to have to play.
- 37:07Speaker 4: He is.
- 37:07Speaker 5: He's going to have to play like he did against Miami. Yeah.
- 37:11Speaker 5: In the semifinals.
- 37:12Speaker 4: In the Fiesta Bowl, yeah.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Now, can LSU score points on the other side? I
- 37:18Speaker 5: think they can score more than last year. I don't
- 37:20Speaker 5: care who's doubtful.
- 37:21Speaker 2: I'm going to take a break. Actually, let's do this
- 37:24Speaker 2: when we do come back, because obviously we're just going
- 37:26Speaker 2: to continue talking about this matchup. I did go back
- 37:29Speaker 2: and watch last year's game, and offensively, woof.
- 37:34Speaker 6: Woof, woof?
- 37:35Speaker 2: There were some situations you had a chance, and you
- 37:38Speaker 2: just kind of peed down your leg a little bit
- 37:42Speaker 2: in that game.
- 37:43Speaker 5: I feel that.
- 37:44Speaker 2: That game had so many opportunities for LSU to take
- 37:47Speaker 2: advantage of that game.
- 37:48Speaker 4: And they just did not do it like of any
- 37:51Speaker 4: of them.
- 37:53Speaker 2: And outside of really Xavier on Thomas on offense, like
- 37:57Speaker 2: you just continue to shoot yourself in the foot, put
- 38:00Speaker 2: yourselves in bad situations after being in great situations. And
- 38:03Speaker 2: so we can kind of talk about the differences that
- 38:05Speaker 2: you'll have there as well. We'll do it when we
- 38:07Speaker 2: come back here on OTB.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Off the bench.

- 40:20Speaker 4: I do. I hope the walkie-talkie is still set up.
- 40:23Speaker 8: About 6.45 last week. Got there about right when the
- 40:26Speaker 8: show started because he couldn't get in the building.
- 40:28Speaker 5: It takes a minute. Well, security. It does take a minute.
- 40:32Speaker 5: It's called food safety protocols.
- 40:33Speaker 2: And then there's like a door that Cassie's sitting right there.
- 40:36Speaker 2: And I was like knocking on it, but she can't.

- 40:50Speaker 2: it already made for you walk in walk out boom
- 40:53Speaker 2: bam you're done and again come see us tomorrow morning
- 40:56Speaker 2: 7 to 10 a football friday live from rouses all
- 41:00Speaker 2: right i talked about last year's game and i don't
- 41:03Speaker 2: know if you had a chance to go back and
- 41:05Speaker 2: watch any of it there was a couple of things
- 41:06Speaker 2: that stood out to me um offensively lsu just continued
- 41:11Speaker 2: to shoot themselves in the foot. Anytime that they had
- 41:13Speaker 2: any positive momentum, anytime the defense gave them the ball back,
- 41:17Speaker 2: they would literally like make the one play you couldn't make, if.
- 41:21Speaker 4: That makes sense.
- 41:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 41:23Speaker 2: And, you know, there's an interception. There was just, you know,
- 41:27Speaker 2: bad third down calls. There was third down plays that
- 41:29Speaker 2: didn't have a rhyme, didn't have a reason. And I guess,
- 41:32Speaker 2: you know, you kind of cut those games out like
- 41:35Speaker 2: as soon as you do them and you remember some
- 41:36Speaker 2: of the things. But when you go back and you
- 41:37Speaker 2: watch it like a year later and you're like, this
- 41:39Speaker 2: was a really bad game plan. for this game. Like
- 41:43Speaker 2: they did not have what they needed to be successful.
- 41:47Speaker 2: So I'm not even blaming the players right now. Like, yeah, player, like,
- 41:50Speaker 2: you know, you make a, you throw an interception, you fumble, whatever,
- 41:53Speaker 2: but nothing set up the next play. Nothing set up
- 41:58Speaker 2: the end result. Like it felt like every play was
- 42:01Speaker 2: just like, you have the play sheet.
- 42:02Speaker 4: And you're like, Hmm, scan, scan, scan, scan. This one
- 42:05Speaker 4: looks good. It was like, no whammy, no whammy, no whammy. Boom.
- 42:08Speaker 4: And it's like, whatever it landed on, you just call it.
- 42:10Speaker 2: It it was tough to watch there was no rhyme
- 42:13Speaker 2: there was no reason to set up everything and so
- 42:15Speaker 2: then you go to the other.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Side of it it's like making a cake with no
- 42:18Speaker 5: recipe it really was like and no measuring spins yeah and.
- 42:21Speaker 2: You're just trying to go off vibes and defensively LSU
- 42:26Speaker 2: again I think they did a good job but you
- 42:27Speaker 2: can see Ole Miss was setting up plays Ole Miss
- 42:29Speaker 2: set up that fourth down conversion like all game long
- 42:33Speaker 2: and that's how it was so easy for them to
- 42:34Speaker 2: convert it and so like.
- 42:37Speaker 4: The differences in offensive philosophies in.
- 42:40Speaker 5: That one, it was shocking. Like, it really was. One
- 42:43Speaker 5: team had one?
- 42:44Speaker 4: I mean, yes.
- 42:46Speaker 5: Truly. I mean, that was the story of the year.
- 42:48Speaker 5: I mean, that's why Lincoln was our coach. My God, man.
- 42:50Speaker 4: It was tough.
- 42:51Speaker 5: That's why you pay all that money to get rid
- 42:53Speaker 5: of a kid. And I'll say this.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Like, Xavion Thomas, a player that I would have loved,
- 42:58Speaker 2: absolutely loved to see in this offense, he was making plays,
- 43:02Speaker 2: but it was individual effort in the plays that he
- 43:05Speaker 2: was making. Like, he kept flashing, but it was because, like,
- 43:08Speaker 2: he would get in the backfield, make two guys miss,
- 43:11Speaker 2: cut upfield, make a cut, get north-south, and make three
- 43:14Speaker 2: more guys miss, and he'd gain 17 yards, it felt like.
- 43:17Speaker 5: Yeah, it'd be nice to run it back with a
- 43:18Speaker 5: couple of those players.
- 43:20Speaker 4: Yeah. Xavier on Thomas, Barry on Brown. That'd be fun.
- 43:23Speaker 5: That'd be a good time. Good, clean fun. Yeah.
- 43:25Speaker 2: But that stood out to me. I mean, it just flashed.
- 43:30Speaker 2: And then the other thing was, and I sent you
- 43:32Speaker 2: the three plays.
- 43:33Speaker 5: Like, LSU was. It was 24-19.
- 43:36Speaker 4: I know, and LSU was like a little bit away.
- 43:39Speaker 4: So P.J.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Woodland got the interception, but before that, D.J. Pickett got one.
- 43:44Speaker 2: It was a pick six, and it was a very soft.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Pass interference call. They called it, and a lot of
- 43:51Speaker 4: times they don't call that.
- 43:52Speaker 2: It's kind of a 50-50 deal. They called it, but
- 43:55Speaker 2: Trinidad Chambliss in that game thought that he had the
- 43:58Speaker 2: advantage going back shoulder, back shoulder, back shoulder. LSU got
- 44:01Speaker 2: their hands on three footballs that day. You had a
- 44:04Speaker 2: pass breakup that could have been an interception. You had
- 44:07Speaker 2: a pick six. They got called back for a very
- 44:09Speaker 2: soft pass interference call. And then you did have an
- 44:11Speaker 2: interception by P.J.
- 44:12Speaker 4: Woodland. He thought he could test the DBs, and I
- 44:16Speaker 4: don't know that he'll do that again.
- 44:18Speaker 5: Now, to his defense, because I do like Trinidad as
- 44:22Speaker 5: a quarterback, to his defense, what was it, his second start?
- 44:25Speaker 2: And a little bit of me saying that is remembering
- 44:29Speaker 2: that as well.
- 44:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, he wasn't the Trinidad of later in
- 44:32Speaker 5: the season, certainly at that point. Now, he made his plays.
- 44:33Speaker 5: He threw for over 300 versus you, but our offense
- 44:36Speaker 5: has improved. Well, okay, our offense is completely different, so
- 44:39Speaker 5: I'm not even going to compare. The defense has improved,
- 44:42Speaker 5: even though they still were good and held them to
- 44:44Speaker 5: those 24 points last season.
- 44:46Speaker 2: All right, continuing talking LSU Ole Miss. We'll get to
- 44:48Speaker 2: Saints and Ravens as well.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Albert, to OTB.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 44:52Speaker 2: All right, back in spine pain can affect everything, how
- 44:55Speaker 2: you work, how you sleep, and how you enjoy everyday life.
- 44:58Speaker 2: And sometimes it can mess up a golf match that
- 45:01Speaker 2: you have that you've been talking about for a long time.
- 45:03Speaker 2: At Ostrator Health, the focus is finding the source of
- 45:06Speaker 2: that pain and building a treatment plan around you. So, look,
- 45:09Speaker 2: there's a lot of different things in therapy and targeted
- 45:12Speaker 2: procedures and mentally invasive treatment, advanced spine care, and surgery.
- 45:17Speaker 4: Surgery?
- 45:19Speaker 2: It isn't always the answer. It's not always the first
- 45:21Speaker 2: thing that you should go to. You should walk through it,
- 45:23Speaker 2: have a plan, talk about it. The goal is simple.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Help you move better, feel better, and get back to
