- 0:11Speaker 2: It'll be your first gig in about nine years, so
- 0:14Speaker 2: we're really looking forward to getting out there and planning
- 0:15Speaker 2: with that lineup.
- 0:17Speaker 1: It's pretty killer so far.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Okay, better it would be, Ran. Thanks for joining us today.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It's nice to speak with you.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you too, mate, Thanks for having.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Us my pleasure.
- 0:27Speaker 4: So the Murdering have been an outs in the first
- 0:30Speaker 4: wave of bands for next Rousonic twenty twenty five, which
- 0:33Speaker 4: is held at the Mansfort Table.
- 0:34Speaker 3: On August twenty three.
- 0:35Speaker 4: As you say, so it's still a few months off, mate,
- 0:38Speaker 4: but in Brisbane at the excitement levels of through the
- 0:41Speaker 4: roof mate life.
- 0:41Speaker 3: How how you gotta sit in with it?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Mate? It's great, it's great. It was really good to
- 0:46Speaker 1: see the just the organic sort of spread that it
- 0:50Speaker 1: got when it was first announced. There. You know, it's
- 0:53Speaker 1: a really killer lineup so far.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Obviously there's a second wave to come out for it
- 0:57Speaker 2: as well, which is Yeah, I think people are to
- 1:00Speaker 2: be pretty psyched when they see who's on that second
- 1:02Speaker 2: announcement sort of thing. But yeah, it's killer up here, man.
- 1:05Speaker 2: It's got good presence online and it seems like everyone's
- 1:08Speaker 2: really excited. You know, everyone up here that I've spoken
- 1:11Speaker 2: to is keen to get along, and yeah, it's going
- 1:13Speaker 2: to be a day.
- 1:14Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:14Speaker 4: So the first lineup of bands are now speech it
- 1:17Speaker 4: acts like Bowlzer, There's Lloyd, Chaos, Lara and Frankenbach, like Greno,
- 1:21Speaker 4: Pisson Fi's just the name a few, man. So is
- 1:23Speaker 4: there any bands that you're really looking forward to touching up.
- 1:26Speaker 2: With and seeing on the day, Well, it's there's quite
- 1:29Speaker 2: a few guys from bands who are playing, you know,
- 1:32Speaker 2: other bands that I haven't seen for a while, So
- 1:33Speaker 2: it'll be good. You know, the Piston Fist guys, they're
- 1:35Speaker 2: doing some great stuff at the moment. Obviously, seeing like
- 1:38Speaker 2: the back from the Dead bands, you know, like catching
- 1:40Speaker 2: Day's end with that early material and uh, you know Brace,
- 1:45Speaker 2: you know the Henry's Anger guys. That'll be really really cool.
- 1:49Speaker 2: He's a big fan of those guys in the day.
- 1:50Speaker 2: So it's gonna be good. It's gonna be really cool.
- 1:52Speaker 2: See a lot of people haven't seen for a while,
- 1:54Speaker 2: and like with their new projects and what they're doing now,
- 1:56Speaker 2: there's a lot of good stuff going on out there,
- 1:58Speaker 2: and yeah, it'll be cool catch it all.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Man, So been your first shown about nine years?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Bro?
- 2:04Speaker 4: You classes are back from the dead band? Or are
- 2:06Speaker 4: you a monkst a living?
- 2:10Speaker 2: I haven't even thought about that, to be honest, No, No,
- 2:13Speaker 2: I wouldn't say we went.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Back from the dead.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It was more just a I suppose a very long
- 2:18Speaker 2: continuation of what we were doing before we sort of.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Stop doing it, I guess.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, So yeah, I haven't even really thought of it
- 2:27Speaker 2: that way, to be honest with you.
- 2:29Speaker 1: But no, we just feel like we're just happy to
- 2:31Speaker 1: be on a bill.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Like I said, we haven't played a live show in
- 2:33Speaker 2: a very long time, so you know, we've got some
- 2:36Speaker 2: really good material coming out at the moment, next singles
- 2:39Speaker 2: coming out shortly being done with Chris famelco down in Melbourne.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So you know, we're just doing our thing. I suppose
- 2:48Speaker 1: it's the easiest way to put it.
- 2:50Speaker 2: We're not sort of got any expectations on anything. It's
- 2:52Speaker 2: just going to be a real dat to have a
- 2:54Speaker 2: good time and just knock the dust off.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I suppose Straight Now made its debut last year and
- 3:01Speaker 4: absolutely smashed it. But there was a brave move by
- 3:04Speaker 4: Kent assembling such a brutal light up but.
- 3:07Speaker 3: The success of it shows that the thirst for heavy
- 3:09Speaker 3: music is definitely there. You've just got to do it right.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Hey, that's it, man like.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And you know, you say speak about Kent putting this together,
- 3:19Speaker 2: you know, like the og of Brisbane metal, thecene, man
- 3:22Speaker 2: like that.
- 3:23Speaker 1: No one knows how to do it up here like Kent.
- 3:25Speaker 2: He just you know, back in the day when he
- 3:27Speaker 2: was doing it full time, you know, before he took
- 3:30Speaker 2: a break and now has come back. Now you know,
- 3:32Speaker 2: he's just the guy to do it up there.
- 3:34Speaker 1: He's here of the.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Ground with the with the local bands and what's happening
- 3:38Speaker 2: up there, and it's just, you know, I wouldn't want
- 3:41Speaker 2: to have anybody in charge of something like that up
- 3:43Speaker 2: here because you know, he's really got everything put together
- 3:46Speaker 2: and his team they're doing a great job with the
- 3:48Speaker 2: promotion and just everything that goes with it, the merchandise,
- 3:51Speaker 2: the quality of band, obviously, the quality of the bill
- 3:54Speaker 2: number one.
- 3:55Speaker 1: But yeah, it's it's fantastic, man like. You couldn't have
- 3:58Speaker 1: someone better running that thing.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Along those lines too. Like what festivals like this mean
- 4:04Speaker 3: to the Australian metal industry.
- 4:06Speaker 4: I guess that are run by actual fans and people
- 4:09Speaker 4: who genuinely like the music, not just a big promoter
- 4:12Speaker 4: in there to make a quick park.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah, mate, it's so good man. Like it's like.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I say, I've already said, you know, it's it's great
- 4:21Speaker 2: to have guys who just are still at that down
- 4:23Speaker 2: to earth level that can put on such a great day,
- 4:27Speaker 2: you know, like Canto doing this and his team, the
- 4:30Speaker 2: boys down in Adelaide, you know, Northeast doing from Purity.
- 4:33Speaker 2: You know, they're just like, those guys are killing it
- 4:35Speaker 2: at you know, I don't want to say a grassroots level,
- 4:38Speaker 2: because it's not grassroots you know what they're doing, but
- 4:41Speaker 2: the you know, they themselves are from that grassroots level,
- 4:44Speaker 2: and you.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Know, I feel like they identify with the punter.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Much more than you know, the Coles and Woolworth's promoters
- 4:52Speaker 2: that we have run and everything else at the moment.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So uh, it's it's awesome man. You know, it shows
- 4:57Speaker 2: that it's just still that real groundswell, awesome you know,
- 5:03Speaker 2: identifiable vibe with promoters in Australia are doing a good
- 5:06Speaker 2: job at the moment, like those.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Boys Necrosonic itself beatus thirty bands across three stages over
- 5:13Speaker 4: twelve hours, so it's going to be massive. So are
- 5:16Speaker 4: you personally You're gonna draw up the timetable of bands
- 5:18Speaker 4: and stages and try and stick to.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It, or you're just gonna wing it and just wonder
- 5:22Speaker 3: where the cards fall. You're going to drink and watch.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it'll be a bit of that.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I mean, there's definitely some bands I want to check
- 5:29Speaker 2: on the day, like, for sure a couple that haven't
- 5:32Speaker 2: been announced yet, but you know, definitely going to check
- 5:34Speaker 2: those boys out. As I said before, the Piston and
- 5:36Speaker 2: Fish guys.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Got to catch those guys. Pizza Death. I want to
- 5:40Speaker 1: see what's up with Pizza Death because that's great. Cool
- 5:43Speaker 1: things with those guys.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've had a I think they're on Froth
- 5:47Speaker 2: and Fury last year, but one of the boys went
- 5:49Speaker 2: down and checked him out and he came back raving
- 5:51Speaker 2: about him, so I want to scope that out as well.
- 5:53Speaker 4: So yeah, no, nice now, but it sounds why you've
- 5:57Speaker 4: been saying this next question is null and void because
- 6:00Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure you already know who the second line
- 6:02Speaker 4: up is. So I was gonna ask you who you
- 6:05Speaker 4: hope will be on the second round, but like I say,
- 6:07Speaker 4: by the sounds of it, you already know who's going
- 6:09Speaker 4: to be there, so you can't really answer that one.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't know if I'm going to get
- 6:13Speaker 2: in trouble off Kemp saying that I didn't everythink, but yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Man, it's gonna be It's gonna be dope, like yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 1: everyone is gonna's gonna really ship the bed. Yeah, it's good.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Nice, all right, we'll move on before either of us
- 6:26Speaker 3: gets in trouble.
- 6:29Speaker 4: So pretty much so many bands playing, there's about to
- 6:32Speaker 4: be heap for bands that people I've never seen before,
- 6:35Speaker 4: which is great, but for the benefit of those unfamiliar
- 6:38Speaker 4: with the murdering, give's a bit of a rundown on
- 6:40Speaker 4: the band. Like I say, I haven't played in nine years,
- 6:42Speaker 4: so there's gonna be a lot of people have actually
- 6:44Speaker 4: heard of you before one.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Hundred No, no one's gonna be heard of us before.
- 6:48Speaker 2: So it's gonna be one of those like you know,
- 6:52Speaker 2: come check it out, like check the socials. Like I said,
- 6:54Speaker 2: we've just released the first single off our EP, demon Itita.
- 6:58Speaker 2: That's up online now so you can go scrape that out.
- 6:59Speaker 2: We've got a new single coming out in a couple
- 7:01Speaker 2: of weeks. We released a couple more tracks at the
- 7:03Speaker 2: end of last year, just as some I guess you
- 7:07Speaker 2: would say short form media type releases, not not full
- 7:11Speaker 2: singles necessarily, but they go with some video and they
- 7:14Speaker 2: you know, it's just a bit of that sort of
- 7:16Speaker 2: being able to get your head around the project kind
- 7:17Speaker 2: of thing.
- 7:19Speaker 1: But yeah, it's it's it's gonna be good man.
- 7:22Speaker 2: We we we can't wait to get up there and
- 7:24Speaker 2: do our thing and hopefully people come check us out
- 7:27Speaker 2: and just see what's up.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I mean, we're playing you're there.
- 7:30Speaker 4: As well, so rit it through a typical live set
- 7:33Speaker 4: from the Murdering Go can people expect if they staggerty
- 7:36Speaker 4: your stage.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Well, we're gonna have like I said, we've been trying
- 7:39Speaker 1: to do with.
- 7:40Speaker 2: The material release last year, you know, audio visual type stuff.
- 7:44Speaker 1: We're going to have you know a bit of a
- 7:46Speaker 1: movie sort of thing that's.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Been put together by ourselves playing while we're on doing
- 7:51Speaker 2: our thing, doing our set, and yeah, it's gonna be.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting, that's for sure. I guess we
- 7:57Speaker 1: just have to come and have a look.
- 7:58Speaker 2: But it's not going to be a standard a standard
- 8:01Speaker 2: set that could put it that way, And.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Some of the visuals are believele and tell something similar
- 8:05Speaker 4: to what you got behind.
- 8:06Speaker 3: You right now.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Yeah, it's just running with the theme and
- 8:09Speaker 2: what we're doing in the EP, the Death Process EP
- 8:12Speaker 2: that we're doing right now. So yeah, like I say,
- 8:16Speaker 2: it's all it's it's it's visuals as much audio with
- 8:19Speaker 2: the songs and you know, the artwork and the videos
- 8:21Speaker 2: that go with it and stuff that's coming.
- 8:23Speaker 1: So yeah, it's it's all a theme. I suppose you
- 8:26Speaker 1: would say.
- 8:28Speaker 4: No, So I want to dive into that a little
- 8:29Speaker 4: bit deeper now of you, because you do have a
- 8:31Speaker 4: five track EP called Death Process coming out that, from
- 8:34Speaker 4: what I can see, is basically follows the art of
- 8:37Speaker 4: a fictional serial killer story. So it sounds intriguing and
- 8:42Speaker 4: fascinating and awesomely glory tell us tell us about it.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, you know, it was just a bit of
- 8:50Speaker 2: a carry on from where we sort of finished when
- 8:52Speaker 2: we stopped playing live and you know, recording and stuff,
- 8:55Speaker 2: you know, nine ten years ago with that lyrical theme
- 8:58Speaker 2: obviously you know of the bands, the murdering.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So it's it's bemed that way as far.
- 9:04Speaker 2: As we wanted to come up with, you know, a
- 9:06Speaker 2: bit of a concept for this one, not just just
- 9:08Speaker 2: plunk out the songs and stuff. People want a bit
- 9:11Speaker 2: more than that, I think nowadays. So you know, we
- 9:13Speaker 2: fortunately have a really really good visual arts and editing
- 9:19Speaker 2: and all that sort of stuff and film a guy
- 9:21Speaker 2: in our bass player, Darryl, who operates arm company down
- 9:25Speaker 2: in Sydney, and so he's very much into putting the
- 9:28Speaker 2: video side and the visual aspect into the into the
- 9:32Speaker 2: EP as well, not just the music sort of thing.
- 9:34Speaker 2: So it's going to have, you know, that sort of
- 9:37Speaker 2: storyline put along with the music and something you can
- 9:40Speaker 2: sort of.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Consume on a on a level other than just listen
- 9:45Speaker 1: to some songs, I guess.
- 9:47Speaker 4: So then how have you structured those ideas, bro, Like,
- 9:49Speaker 4: is it going to be like who done it? Mystery
- 9:52Speaker 4: type murder thing or do the stories sort of pretty
- 9:54Speaker 4: much paint what's going on?
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yeah, No, nothing cheesy like that. It's it's more of
- 9:59Speaker 2: an you know, to a degree, it's it's a set out.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It's a set out storyline, but it's interpreted as well.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I suppose you could say.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Whereas more leading on the psychological side of things and
- 10:11Speaker 2: being able to sort of put pieces together yourself, not
- 10:14Speaker 2: just sort of you know, lay everything out for you
- 10:16Speaker 2: can interpret it in any sort of which way you want.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I think, which is kind of cool and yeah, it'll
- 10:21Speaker 2: kind of pieces fit together sort of thing.
- 10:23Speaker 1: As each song comes out a new piece of the.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Storyline or arc of the storyline, we'll go along with it,
- 10:27Speaker 2: and it can be pieced together to put a make
- 10:29Speaker 2: a complete sort of picture by the end of it,
- 10:31Speaker 2: you know, by the last.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Song, A sow how much actual research did you put
- 10:36Speaker 4: in there during this outlet?
- 10:37Speaker 3: You could either if you could do it two ways.
- 10:38Speaker 3: You could decide to make everything.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Up, or you could go all in imsive and sort
- 10:42Speaker 4: of make it make it real life.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I guess, like, which ain't good did you take?
- 10:50Speaker 2: I guess it just comes from like I says, it's
- 10:53Speaker 2: the direction we sort of went when we did the
- 10:56Speaker 2: EP from Hell back in twenty fifteen. I think that
- 11:01Speaker 2: was maybe twenty four I can't remember. Twenty fifteen, twenty
- 11:03Speaker 2: sixteen from Help, and that was along the same lines
- 11:09Speaker 2: already lyrically and you know, sort of storyline wise as
- 11:12Speaker 2: that kind of psychological arc. But it just comes from,
- 11:15Speaker 2: I suppose, from an interest in that sort of thing.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I mean, I mean everybody loves that serial killer shit.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I'm no different.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I've been into that stuff for you know, twenty years
- 11:24Speaker 2: or so. You know, It's it's just interesting, man, you know,
- 11:26Speaker 2: that's why people love it. So it was just a
- 11:29Speaker 2: natural sort of thing goes with the band, goes with
- 11:31Speaker 2: the theme, you know, and it's something we all sort
- 11:32Speaker 2: of are interested in and morbidly fascinated by. So it
- 11:37Speaker 2: was kind of easy to just keep down that path
- 11:38Speaker 2: sort of thing. But yeah, it's I mean part I mean,
- 11:42Speaker 2: the big chunk of its storytelling obviously, but it's taking
- 11:44Speaker 2: it from real life.
- 11:46Speaker 1: You know, our imitating life sort of situation.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Well, and I also stumbled across a really miix of
- 11:52Speaker 4: demon Ea that you did with the mentor.
- 11:54Speaker 3: I didn't actually get a chance to listen.
- 11:55Speaker 4: To it, but I will be after this interview that
- 11:57Speaker 4: that looks like it'll be a lesson in brutality.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty filthy, man, Like it's it's cool as
- 12:04Speaker 2: that was lined up, I think Jake our guitarist is
- 12:08Speaker 2: friends with a couple of guys from your mentor and yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 2: he just came to us one day and he said, hey,
- 12:13Speaker 2: Mention wanted to do a remix of the song or whatever,
- 12:15Speaker 2: and yeah, we're like, fucking cool, man, that sounds good.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Let's go for it. And it's it's pretty wild.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Yeah, So it was very very cool. We're super stoked
- 12:24Speaker 2: with how it turned out. And it was cool for
- 12:26Speaker 2: like the freedom of be able to just give that
- 12:28Speaker 2: track to somebody and be like sort of just do
- 12:30Speaker 2: whatever you want with.
- 12:31Speaker 1: It kind of thing, and they go here you go,
- 12:33Speaker 1: here's the thing. Like cool.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I would never have, you know, never have sort of
- 12:38Speaker 2: bored of doing that like that at any point.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So it's it was cool man. Yeah, that's on YouTube.
- 12:42Speaker 1: You can check that shit out.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Wouldn't it be even cooler if the events are in
- 12:45Speaker 4: the second wave of bands of the time and then
- 12:47Speaker 4: you can do it together on stage in necrosonic You.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Don't, man, I mean there's there's some definite voice manipulation
- 12:55Speaker 2: stuff going on in there in the remix, that's for sure,
- 12:58Speaker 2: But yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Up to wait to see. But too well, thanks very
- 13:05Speaker 4: much for your time. I'd been a pleasure to speak.
- 13:07Speaker 4: We ended up murdering and making a comeback of the
- 13:09Speaker 4: stage after nine years at Necrosonic. Early bird tickets on sale,
- 13:13Speaker 4: I believe they're already more than half gone, So trying
- 13:16Speaker 4: to get yourself cheaper tickets, getting quickly in grab them.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Otherwise you'll still be paying good day for money for
- 13:22Speaker 4: what you're getting, but you get them cheaper right now.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Yeah, hell yeah, man,
