Decatur’s City Council just hit pause on free recreation — unanimously approving new fees for swimming, gym access, locker rentals, and classes, while keeping a free Community Membership option. Monthly swim passes start at $25, student rates at $18, and daily pool access is just $5. Upgrades are also in the works: $20K for online registration software, self-checkout kiosks, and $127K for soil stabilization — all aimed at making the Carrie Matthews Rec Center more efficient and future-ready.
