- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here. I thought, I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. When you're a guest to my home, you
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guests,
- 0:27Speaker 1: your presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff,
- 0:35Speaker 1: So how do you dare to surbey me?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm richer winegar Ellis
- 0:55Speaker 2: is moving around in the studio, and I thought, oh,
- 0:57Speaker 2: it's something going on. Everything's fine. Everything's fine, and that's fine.
- 1:02Speaker 2: That's how podcasting works. I observe things and then I
- 1:05Speaker 2: comment on them, and everybody benefits from me making mistakes.
- 1:11Speaker 2: So we're here, we're in the studio. What's going on?
- 1:16Speaker 3: Trying to find something to clean my glass?
- 1:19Speaker 2: Our guest has very dirty glasses. Apparently, do you know
- 1:22Speaker 2: what I have a I have a lens wipe. I
- 1:24Speaker 2: would love you one of those.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Ye I am a little OCD about dirty glasses. And
- 1:32Speaker 3: I probably left my lens wipe in the car. Oh
- 1:34Speaker 3: you have a fresh one. Yeah, Oh yeah.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I'm so prepared.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Nice you don't even have glasses on you.
- 1:41Speaker 2: No, but you have to be prepared for everything.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Your Lord, you should have been my mother.
- 1:47Speaker 2: There's still time the guest. I'm you know, I'm kind
- 1:51Speaker 2: of proving myself to just be very useful today already.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, very useful.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So now we've got the guests, we'll have clean glasses.
- 1:59Speaker 2: That's to be very exciting for everybody. What's going on
- 2:03Speaker 2: in my life? Ah, you know, I'm just kind of
- 2:06Speaker 2: finally admitting to myself that it's time to change the
- 2:09Speaker 2: battery on the garage door opener. The rumors have been
- 2:13Speaker 2: kind of circulating, will he change the battery on the
- 2:15Speaker 2: garage door opener? And I'm going to do it after
- 2:18Speaker 2: about ten to eleven months of it barely working, it
- 2:21Speaker 2: might be time. So there's that saw a car on
- 2:26Speaker 2: fire on the freeway. That was last night. But if
- 2:29Speaker 2: somebody wants to get that out to the proper authorities,
- 2:32Speaker 2: just in case they haven't taken care of it yet.
- 2:34Speaker 2: That car is on fire, it could explode at any moment. Again,
- 2:38Speaker 2: this was about fourteen hours ago, so who knows. And
- 2:43Speaker 2: so I think we've i mean, think of all the
- 2:46Speaker 2: territory we've already covered. I've thought Ellis was doing something.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I've offered a lens wipe to the guest and garage
- 2:56Speaker 2: door opener. Cars exploding what could happen next? I think
- 2:59Speaker 2: we should get into the podcast. I love today's guest.
- 3:02Speaker 2: She's absolutely fantastic. It's Amy Landeck Or. Amy. Hi, welcome
- 3:06Speaker 2: to the podcast. Your glasses look great now.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I also have a cop Do you have a lozenge?
- 3:13Speaker 2: You're pushing it? We have parts and a cigarette.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Interesting. I wanted to tell you our car blew up?
- 3:23Speaker 3: What I had a Chevy Volts in the driveway. This
- 3:28Speaker 3: is crazy. So I we are going to a Dodgers game. Okay,
- 3:34Speaker 3: Bradley Whitford with Bradley Whitford is my husband, right, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 3: look him up.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Don't look up Bradley. But Bradley reach out.
- 3:46Speaker 3: So he was at Ralph's getting some last minute something
- 3:52Speaker 3: milk or something. I'm at home and I am getting ready.
- 3:56Speaker 3: He's just gonna swing by pick me up and we're
- 3:58Speaker 3: going to go to the game.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Sure.
- 4:00Speaker 3: So I let the dog out to take a pee
- 4:04Speaker 3: before we leave, and I noticed that flames are coming
- 4:07Speaker 3: out of the child ball and I like, we did
- 4:13Speaker 3: not park in the garage. We never do. The garage
- 4:16Speaker 3: is just where we put a bunch of junk, and
- 4:17Speaker 3: so it's outside and we have all these trees very
- 4:22Speaker 3: close that would link right to our house if this
- 4:24Speaker 3: keeps going. And I stupidly just first call him like
- 4:30Speaker 3: and he's like, well, no, no, that's not true. The
- 4:32Speaker 3: stupidest thing I did first was I went and I
- 4:34Speaker 3: took I was trying to find water, and I took
- 4:36Speaker 3: like a picture of water, and I threw it at
- 4:39Speaker 3: the flames, which of course made it worse. You're not
- 4:41Speaker 3: supposed to do that. And then I facetimed him and
- 4:47Speaker 3: he's in line at the Ralphs and I'm like, the
- 4:50Speaker 3: car's on fire, and he sort of froze it, and
- 4:52Speaker 3: the people behind him are like, call nine one one,
- 4:56Speaker 3: call nine one one. I'm like right, So I called
- 4:59Speaker 3: nine one one and they're like, just don't throw water, right,
- 5:04Speaker 3: I've already I've already done that, and it's in the
- 5:07Speaker 3: engine now and the whole thing's going, and the fire
- 5:11Speaker 3: truck came like within less than five minutes. That's it
- 5:15Speaker 3: was very efficient. I don't think they're that busy in Pasadena,
- 5:18Speaker 3: that's where I lived, right, And it was funny because
- 5:21Speaker 3: they said they were wherever they came from. They were
- 5:23Speaker 3: sort of laxadaisical as they pulled up and then they
- 5:26Speaker 3: saw what was happening, and they jumped out of the
- 5:28Speaker 3: car and ran down the driveway. They're like, it's weird.
- 5:31Speaker 3: We couldn't see the smoke from when we were driving in,
- 5:34Speaker 3: so we didn't think it would be this bad. And
- 5:36Speaker 3: then they spent an hour putting it out. But anyway,
- 5:38Speaker 3: if I had not taken the dog out back, if
- 5:41Speaker 3: I had taken the dog out front, I would not
- 5:43Speaker 3: have seen that. We would have gone to the game,
- 5:46Speaker 3: and our house would have burned down with our pits inside.
- 5:48Speaker 3: It could have been like, really bad.
- 5:50Speaker 2: You have so many people to think the dog, yes,
- 5:53Speaker 2: those nosy shoppers yes. And then lastly the fire always,
- 5:57Speaker 2: lastly the fire. Lastly, how do they put it out?
- 6:01Speaker 3: They literally just well they use water, but they have
- 6:03Speaker 3: a power host that is so strong, and they sit
- 6:07Speaker 3: there for you know, half an hour till it's out
- 6:11Speaker 3: out right right.
- 6:12Speaker 2: So and then what was there like a giant scorch
- 6:16Speaker 2: spot on the driveway.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Yes, oh, in a car in the car was completely like,
- 6:20Speaker 3: you know, not the car, It didn't. The great thing
- 6:23Speaker 3: was there was a good firewall in the car, so
- 6:25Speaker 3: the front burned, but it never caused the back to burn.
- 6:28Speaker 3: The back did not, but the front of the car
- 6:30Speaker 3: was like ash on the Oh it was insane.
- 6:33Speaker 2: What caused the fire?
- 6:35Speaker 3: These were early early Vaults. Sometimes the battery would catch
- 6:40Speaker 3: fire when you were charging.
- 6:42Speaker 2: That is not great to hear. No, I don't love
- 6:45Speaker 2: now I know electric car owner.
- 6:47Speaker 3: No, I know. Well we were like, we're big electric
- 6:49Speaker 3: car owners and Bradley's like, you know, huge on the environment.
- 6:53Speaker 3: We still kept the second Vault. We have another VOWS
- 6:57Speaker 3: because it's a later, later model.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Oh okay, and then so you just called uh or
- 7:02Speaker 2: I assume the fire department kind of took care of
- 7:04Speaker 2: getting rid of the car.
- 7:05Speaker 3: No, I don't. I don't. You know. It's funny. No,
- 7:07Speaker 3: you have to call it toet service. Still you have
- 7:09Speaker 3: to make another Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, you got to
- 7:11Speaker 3: get towed out. No, they're not going to do anything
- 7:13Speaker 3: like that for you.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I guess I've never seen a fire trucks towing a car.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Yeah, they don't got to toe you. They just got
- 7:18Speaker 3: to put out the fire. They don't like move, they
- 7:20Speaker 3: don't like take down the building after they fire out.
- 7:23Speaker 2: That's something they should consider. That could be a new
- 7:25Speaker 2: element of the business.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it could be something they charged.
- 7:28Speaker 2: For right, h yeah, this could be a new fund,
- 7:30Speaker 2: you know, a new source of funds.
- 7:31Speaker 3: For the fire we contract your new building.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great. I feel like a lot of firefighters
- 7:39Speaker 2: kind of like could cross over into that.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Why are firefighters always cute?
- 7:43Speaker 2: They're always no, I mean, like unbelievably attract like.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Legit, Like my husband doesn't even mind when I'm just like, honey, like,
- 7:51Speaker 3: what is going on?
- 7:52Speaker 2: I don't understand. Are they like scouting malls like model agencies?
- 7:56Speaker 3: You know, maybe they're going to Abercrombie and Fall and
- 7:58Speaker 3: they're just getting them people work there, the people and
- 8:01Speaker 3: they're a little bit older. Have you ever thought about
- 8:02Speaker 3: being a firefighter?
- 8:04Speaker 2: Right, it's like the military going into high schools to
- 8:07Speaker 2: recruit people. The fire department goes to Abercrombie. That kind
- 8:10Speaker 2: of makes sense. And then they always had like the
- 8:12Speaker 2: uniform is always good looking, even like the blue shirt
- 8:14Speaker 2: they wear.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Oh it's I don't know, it's very strange.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, And then of course they're like kind of doing
- 8:21Speaker 2: just this wonderful service.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I know. So then it's like a romanticized hole irresistible
- 8:26Speaker 3: worship thing. Yeah, are they.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Still going down the pole? Do we know if they
- 8:29Speaker 2: still have the poles.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I'm sorry this took a turn. Oh dear, are they
- 8:36Speaker 3: going down the poles? I'm just going to leave that.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we should. The other thing about the
- 8:43Speaker 2: fire department that I find interesting, a little darker or
- 8:45Speaker 2: a little uh more dramatic, is that being able to
- 8:49Speaker 2: leave a baby there.
- 8:50Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 8:51Speaker 2: Are you familiar with this?
- 8:52Speaker 3: Leave babies?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Apparently you can surrender a baby at the fire department.
- 8:56Speaker 3: You're like that, the fire leaves baby fire like this,
- 9:00Speaker 3: you can't trust they save the baby and then they
- 9:02Speaker 3: just put the baby on the ground and go. Somebody's
- 9:05Speaker 3: got to take care like my car, the car and
- 9:07Speaker 3: the baby. The baby surrendered to a fire department.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Yeah, how did that all come into being?
- 9:12Speaker 3: Well, when I put that law into place, I have
- 9:15Speaker 3: no idea.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It's a very interesting.
- 9:19Speaker 3: No idea, but it's a really well maybe also because
- 9:22Speaker 3: you know the other thing fire departments always do is
- 9:25Speaker 3: they go grocery shopping and they cook.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Did you Oh, that's a big.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Part of it, because they stay for a couple of
- 9:31Speaker 3: days and they make their own meals. So there's always
- 9:33Speaker 3: like really cute fire guys in the grocery store too,
- 9:37Speaker 3: so they they're nurturing, they can cook and take care
- 9:40Speaker 3: of the baby.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I guess, how is this not like a dating app?
- 9:43Speaker 2: This would be like the rye like ry about they're
- 9:45Speaker 2: exclusively just people at the fire department.
- 9:47Speaker 3: I agree, you could call it like you know, hot
- 9:50Speaker 3: stuff poles.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Every every person on this would be a catch, yes,
- 9:59Speaker 2: or at least like as a like a matchmaker that
- 10:02Speaker 2: could charge a lot of money and then just kind
- 10:04Speaker 2: of go over the.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Plus, he sleeps at the place a couple of nights weeks,
- 10:07Speaker 3: so you'd always get a little downtime, right, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 3: this is like an ideal man, it is an ideal situation.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Wow, every fire person should uh, I think that there.
- 10:18Speaker 2: That should be the first thing on you were dating
- 10:19Speaker 2: app profile. At least it's like I work for the
- 10:21Speaker 2: fire department. Absolutely, I can cook.
- 10:24Speaker 3: I can cook, and people give me their babies. They
- 10:27Speaker 3: trust me with their babies.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Ready to be a parent?
- 10:30Speaker 3: Yes? Ready, ready, Wow, that's really I'm left handed. So
- 10:35Speaker 3: I'm kind of like debating. He goes, and this mic
- 10:38Speaker 3: is sort of like a little bit in my.
- 10:40Speaker 2: We kind of set these traps for the guests, just
- 10:43Speaker 2: keep them on.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Their fisting so I'm like, spend drift on the right,
- 10:47Speaker 3: coffee on.
- 10:48Speaker 2: The Have you struggled as a left handed person your
- 10:50Speaker 2: whole life?
- 10:52Speaker 3: I mean, have I struggled? Are a real pain? Seemed
- 10:56Speaker 3: like the biggest people swear on this Oh yeah, okay.
- 10:59Speaker 2: This is the the crasses podcast in the Oh.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Scissors are a real pain in the ass. That's my
- 11:04Speaker 3: big swing.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Curse word X rating.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why X rated. They always were like, that's
- 11:12Speaker 3: the one place where I really knew the world was
- 11:14Speaker 3: not like that. I And then when, of course, when
- 11:16Speaker 3: I found out at some point in my life that
- 11:18Speaker 3: like they used to like, you know, think we were
- 11:21Speaker 3: crazy people. Right, it was kind of like burn us
- 11:23Speaker 3: at the stake or something, right, and then they would
- 11:25Speaker 3: like tie your hand so you couldn't use it, so
- 11:28Speaker 3: you would be forced to learn how to use your
- 11:30Speaker 3: right hand.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Creasy.
- 11:31Speaker 3: But then I kind of felt like it was something
- 11:33Speaker 3: kind of cool and I don't know, like I'm different,
- 11:35Speaker 3: of course, It's like it's different than all you regular
- 11:38Speaker 3: right handed people. I have special qualities.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I wonder how many, uh like a percentage of people
- 11:44Speaker 2: in the world is who are that's not.
- 11:46Speaker 3: That much Like it's actually like a pretty rare variant.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it must be very small. I mean, my mom's
- 11:52Speaker 2: left handed. I don't think anyone else in our family
- 11:54Speaker 2: or her family is left handed, and your mother, yes, Just.
- 11:57Speaker 3: So that's why I feel so maternal towards it. Left handed.
- 12:01Speaker 2: You've been nurturing this entire episode. So it's really scissors.
- 12:06Speaker 2: But why because they they make left handed scissors.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Yeah, but you have to go by Yeah, it's almost
- 12:11Speaker 3: like a gag no, right.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Like a break.
- 12:14Speaker 3: You have to go get that. But in school, there
- 12:16Speaker 3: weren't left handed scissors.
- 12:17Speaker 2: And so do you just have to ask?
- 12:18Speaker 3: You're literally like no, it hurts your You're literally like
- 12:21Speaker 3: shoving your hand and it hurts to cut.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And how is it that differently shaped?
- 12:26Speaker 3: I don't even because there's like the little the little oh.
- 12:29Speaker 2: You're kind of almost have to flip it over exactly.
- 12:31Speaker 3: And you know what, I don't know if I ever
- 12:32Speaker 3: tried that. Oh.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Interesting, So this is kind of your fault.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah, if i'd only given it a little bit more
- 12:40Speaker 3: mcguiver effort, I could have figured it out all those
- 12:43Speaker 3: years ago. Other than that, it's like, although it's still
- 12:46Speaker 3: a thing when people go are you left handed? Like
- 12:49Speaker 3: my husband. Every time I say it, it's like, are
- 12:52Speaker 3: you left handed? I'm like, honey, you know I'm left handed,
- 12:55Speaker 3: but he's like wow, like and my uncle's left hand.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Like left handed people know left handed people right, But
- 13:01Speaker 3: it's like yeah, and what does it mean?
- 13:03Speaker 2: And I'm trying to there aren't that many other I guess,
- 13:05Speaker 2: like if you were shifting a.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Car, there's ambidextress, right, So I do there is some
- 13:11Speaker 3: What often happens with left handed people is they adapt
- 13:15Speaker 3: and some things they do well with their right hand right. So,
- 13:19Speaker 3: like I can't remember because I haven't really been very
- 13:23Speaker 3: athletic lately, but I do like yoga, you can use
- 13:26Speaker 3: both hands. But like I remember, like baseball softball, I
- 13:31Speaker 3: could kind of hit on either side right. So there's
- 13:34Speaker 3: some people too that are like hardcore left And I
- 13:37Speaker 3: think I have a little bit of ambidextress commit well,
- 13:42Speaker 3: or I just naturally have more flexibility.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Now I'm trying to like imagine things I do all
- 13:48Speaker 2: the time only with my right hand hold the.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Whole world's made. Well, that's not true because if you're
- 13:53Speaker 3: in Europe, you're going to have the stick on the
- 13:55Speaker 3: other side.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Oh right, that is a nightmare.
- 13:57Speaker 3: I have a funny story about this. Okay, So I
- 14:00Speaker 3: was I was asked to do this movie called Hunter's
- 14:03Speaker 3: Prayer that shot in England many I don't know, maybe
- 14:07Speaker 3: ten years ago. And I they always ask you, you know,
- 14:13Speaker 3: like on your special skills, like do you drive a car?
- 14:15Speaker 2: Right?
- 14:15Speaker 3: Of course I do drive a car. And I was
- 14:17Speaker 3: playing this like very badass corrupt police FBI. I think
- 14:23Speaker 3: I was FBI. And I'm supposed to be, you know,
- 14:27Speaker 3: very fascile with a stick.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Theme today.
- 14:38Speaker 3: So I don't even know how to drive stick, let
- 14:42Speaker 3: alone being fascial with it, right, And they so they
- 14:46Speaker 3: shoot a scene before I get there with my stunt
- 14:51Speaker 3: double and it establishes this particular type of car that
- 14:55Speaker 3: only comes in a stick. So they're like, I'm like,
- 15:00Speaker 3: I won't be you know, I can't. I can't. I
- 15:03Speaker 3: can't drive it on camera. And they want this character
- 15:05Speaker 3: to be able to get in the car, slam the
- 15:06Speaker 3: door and pull away, right, So like we're going to
- 15:09Speaker 3: get you driving lessons.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 15:12Speaker 3: So and I had to drive on the wrong other
- 15:15Speaker 3: side of the streets. I'm trying to learn stick and
- 15:19Speaker 3: be on the other side, and I was. It was
- 15:21Speaker 3: so really cute though it was really fun. I was
- 15:22Speaker 3: staying in Harrogate, which is very like very northern in
- 15:26Speaker 3: this cute sweet you know older like you know, driving
- 15:31Speaker 3: teacher came. Then we would you know, toodle around the
- 15:35Speaker 3: town and I felt somewhat able. But anyone who drives
- 15:39Speaker 3: a stick knows that like the actual like the smoothness
- 15:44Speaker 3: takes a lot of it.
- 15:45Speaker 2: It takes a lot.
- 15:46Speaker 3: You can't like, you can't like fake that.
- 15:48Speaker 2: No shift, and it takes a long time just to
- 15:50Speaker 2: like get into like a even being bumpy at.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Driving exactly like you know I mean, And so we
- 15:56Speaker 3: wasted all this money and time and then you know,
- 15:59Speaker 3: we get on camera and every time I shift, the
- 16:03Speaker 3: car jerks, which does not look like a badass FBI
- 16:07Speaker 3: woman in you know, in front of a big castle.
- 16:11Speaker 3: And so they had to like use the I'm like,
- 16:13Speaker 3: they had to redo the thing and use the stunt double.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, we should have just done it, We
- 16:17Speaker 3: should have just done that anyway, Yeah, that.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Feels like something that's just change the shot. Right. You
- 16:22Speaker 2: can't count on somebody to be able to drive stick,
- 16:24Speaker 2: like most movies don't count on the actor to drive
- 16:26Speaker 2: the car at all.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 16:27Speaker 2: So what are we doing?
- 16:28Speaker 3: I don't know. And I was like very happy that
- 16:31Speaker 3: this is also making me think of another stunt double
- 16:34Speaker 3: story that will blow your mind. But I was on
- 16:35Speaker 3: a show that shall remain unnamed, and they did not
- 16:39Speaker 3: tell me until I got there on the day that
- 16:41Speaker 3: they wanted me to ride a horse in the scene
- 16:44Speaker 3: to a mark holding a antique rifle that costs like
- 16:48Speaker 3: fifty pounds. And I was like, I got into kind
- 16:51Speaker 3: of an argument with the director, and when the show
- 16:55Speaker 3: runner found out, he was like horrified and it was
- 16:57Speaker 3: apologizing to me, but I'm like, this is after I mean,
- 17:00Speaker 3: this is oh my god, this is like are you kidding?
- 17:03Speaker 2: And these are two things that separately are dangerous horse
- 17:06Speaker 2: and holding a gun exactly.
- 17:08Speaker 3: And I hadn't been shown properly how to shoot the gun,
- 17:10Speaker 3: and I hadn't been asked if I knew how to
- 17:11Speaker 3: ride a horse, and she goes, well, it was in
- 17:13Speaker 3: the scene. And it wasn't in the scene. By the way,
- 17:17Speaker 3: is that it didn't say anything about me shooting the
- 17:19Speaker 3: shotgun that was twenty you know, really old and heavy.
- 17:23Speaker 3: You really also want to look like you know what
- 17:25Speaker 3: you're doing, yes, And then The other was that we
- 17:28Speaker 3: were by raging river and in the scene it says
- 17:31Speaker 3: you just get on the horse, Like at the end
- 17:33Speaker 3: of the scene, I can get on a horse. Yeah,
- 17:37Speaker 3: I love horses, But that is not the same as
- 17:40Speaker 3: asking me. And they should have even checked if I
- 17:42Speaker 3: knew how to do that.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Of course, I think that that helps everybody.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Ultimately, Yes, it's like, do you feel comfortable mounting a horse? Plus, God,
- 17:49Speaker 3: we're just really getting into some Plus they did not
- 17:52Speaker 3: tell me that when I'm mounting the horse, there's gonna
- 17:55Speaker 3: be a girl in front of me holding a baby.
- 18:00Speaker 2: This is the crazy Machine where just several people are killed.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I was like, what are we doing?
- 18:07Speaker 3: And anyway, it turns out and I knew we had
- 18:11Speaker 3: stunt doubles. No one told the director that we had
- 18:13Speaker 3: stunt doubles there to do.
- 18:15Speaker 2: All are they doing on a smoke break?
- 18:18Speaker 1: Oh?
- 18:19Speaker 3: Here's what it was. There was like a group of us.
- 18:22Speaker 3: We were all like nuns with guns.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Okay, well, I love whatever this is. I wish you
- 18:26Speaker 2: would know.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I know, I know it all got cut anyway, so
- 18:30Speaker 3: you'll never see it. But the background and the stunt
- 18:33Speaker 3: doubles looked exactly the same, so unless someone told her
- 18:36Speaker 3: we have these people available for you. But it was
- 18:38Speaker 3: a very like chaotic environment and in a chaotic set,
- 18:43Speaker 3: and so she never knew, and I think that was
- 18:47Speaker 3: and the whole day she never knew. And we ended
- 18:50Speaker 3: up just changing the blocking of the thing because I said,
- 18:52Speaker 3: there's no way that I'm doing this on a horse,
- 18:54Speaker 3: and then the horse person and the gun person thanked
- 18:57Speaker 3: me because you know, there were all these young actors
- 18:59Speaker 3: on this show that would never say no, right.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just like, well, I have to do this.
- 19:05Speaker 2: I don't want to.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Get exactly And I was in a scene with a
- 19:07Speaker 3: bunch of like local hires and people who are so
- 19:10Speaker 3: like afraid to say they didn't know how to ride
- 19:12Speaker 3: a horse either, and so I'm like the old lady
- 19:14Speaker 3: who's like, no, good for him, I don't care. I
- 19:17Speaker 3: don't want to die today.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Well for that to be happening post rust, it's especially crazy.
- 19:22Speaker 3: It was even weird because there was like an article
- 19:24Speaker 3: that day about how he Alec Baldwin had like fought
- 19:28Speaker 3: to ride the horse on camera and the horse trainers
- 19:31Speaker 3: were like, you're not a good enough rider to do that.
- 19:33Speaker 3: That's unsafe. So it was actually in the trial that
- 19:35Speaker 3: he was pushing.
- 19:36Speaker 2: That a little bit, right.
- 19:38Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, it was a very strange experience. I've
- 19:41Speaker 3: had more than a few. But but yeah, anyway.
- 19:44Speaker 2: And nuns with guns, nouns with guns, that feels like
- 19:47Speaker 2: it should very at least be a calendar series TV.
- 19:51Speaker 3: There's something that it would be fun if it was drag. Oh,
- 19:53Speaker 3: that's great, I could get like really sexual totally.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I also, wow, I I just have so many questions
- 20:01Speaker 2: about that. That's fascinating. It feels like you're just attracting
- 20:04Speaker 2: danger wherever you go. I'd be true, it's just a catastrophe,
- 20:07Speaker 2: that's true.
- 20:08Speaker 3: The cars are blowing up. Yeah, I'm falling off horses.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I tried to. I actually could drive a stick pretty
- 20:14Speaker 2: well about in England. Rented a car and nearly didn't
- 20:17Speaker 2: make it out of the parking garage. It was humiliating
- 20:20Speaker 2: because why because I was used to driving with my
- 20:22Speaker 2: right hand circle right and then.
- 20:25Speaker 3: You'll be left right, nightmare. There you have it.
- 20:27Speaker 2: And then I did run into a curb going about
- 20:29Speaker 2: fifty miles an hour, So that's not fun.
- 20:32Speaker 3: No, and right, that was the other problem. It's like
- 20:34Speaker 3: it's not just that I'm doing the stick. I'm doing
- 20:36Speaker 3: it on the wrong side of the car.
- 20:37Speaker 2: I can't believe you're alive to be here on the podcast.
- 20:40Speaker 2: It's America. It is America so many different ways.
- 20:42Speaker 3: It's a miracle.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Well, I feel like there's something else that's not a miracle,
- 20:47Speaker 2: something that's a little bit more troublesome. I was excited
- 20:50Speaker 2: to have you here on the podcast today, Amy. I
- 20:53Speaker 2: thought Amy is going to come by. I'm sure she'll
- 20:55Speaker 2: have some story about a car being on fire. We'll
- 20:58Speaker 2: get into that and then I'll I'll move on.
- 21:01Speaker 3: We'll have your absurd request.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Well, I was a little upset when you showed up
- 21:06Speaker 2: to my podcast. I said, no gifts, holding.
- 21:08Speaker 3: No one means it when they say that. I literally like,
- 21:11Speaker 3: you're saying, bring me a gift, let's be honest, how annoyed?
- 21:16Speaker 3: No gifts? Please, no gifts. And then they're like, can
- 21:19Speaker 3: you believe she showed up and she didn't bring a gift? Well,
- 21:22Speaker 3: I didn't bring you anything, so it's fine.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Okay, good, Well, then we'll just keep talking about cars.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I did.
- 21:29Speaker 3: First of all, it came in a very cute pink Yes,
- 21:31Speaker 3: it's very nice hotels and resorts.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Gorgeous bank.
- 21:35Speaker 3: My mother stays there during Christmas.
- 21:38Speaker 2: And the one in Pasadena. Yes, it's a very nice.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Resort, stunning, and it smells really good. Oh, everything's like pink,
- 21:44Speaker 3: which I like. Yeah, and it's like a nice pink.
- 21:46Speaker 2: A very faint pink, like bright.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Pink and black is cheap. Faint pink and black is elegant.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Yeah, like bright pink and black is very victorious.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Secret or yes, or the the girls in green in
- 22:00Speaker 3: those jackets.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, totally girls, something apples or something that ladies. Yes, wow,
- 22:11Speaker 2: good for me.
- 22:11Speaker 3: For interesting that we couldn't come up with pink.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Or ladies. Okay, let's let's get in here. Okay, there
- 22:22Speaker 2: are two options.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I've got two guests. Not only did I bring guests,
- 22:26Speaker 3: and they're not related to each.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Okay, it doesn't matter. Uh, would you open first?
- 22:30Speaker 3: Yeah, let's open the little one first.
- 22:32Speaker 2: They're pretty dense.
- 22:33Speaker 3: This is in. I also wanted to point out my
- 22:36Speaker 3: special paper, Gorge's Critical Role, which some of your listeners,
- 22:39Speaker 3: of course, might be into. We are really into them
- 22:42Speaker 3: in our house, and so I bought Critical Role wrapping
- 22:47Speaker 3: paper probably four years ago, and I still have it.
- 22:51Speaker 2: I think that's kind of the rule with wrapping papers.
- 22:53Speaker 2: You buy it and then it just goes.
- 22:54Speaker 3: In a I wrapped what I needed that year, and
- 22:56Speaker 3: then I think it's I think it's very cute though.
- 22:58Speaker 2: So I thought it a great rap.
- 22:59Speaker 3: It would be good for you.
- 23:00Speaker 2: All right, let's that's thick wrapping paper.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I like it.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Okay, open. I debated bringing you out, but oh what, Okay,
- 23:10Speaker 2: this is it says Santa's pipe smoke, big ass brick
- 23:13Speaker 2: of soap.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Yeah, take it out. It is a very nice bar
- 23:19Speaker 3: of smells so good. This is a regift from the Uh. Yes,
- 23:25Speaker 3: it's a beautiful thing of soap.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Look at that thing. You could's quality.
- 23:29Speaker 3: That's quality soap. I know someone gave you. I heard
- 23:32Speaker 3: one of your podcasts where oh, Wendy, she brought you
- 23:35Speaker 3: like smelly toilet paper.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Oh yes, the strawberry strawberry yes.
- 23:40Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, that's so fun. And then
- 23:42Speaker 3: I forgot that. You know, Basically, I have like a
- 23:44Speaker 3: little cabinet at home where I put little things that
- 23:48Speaker 3: we maybe got gifted that we're not going to use,
- 23:50Speaker 3: and I try to figure out if someone might want them.
- 23:53Speaker 3: And this was a recycled stocking stuffer.
- 23:57Speaker 2: This is a great stocking.
- 23:59Speaker 3: I think it says Santa his pipe.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yes, this is very Christmas oriented. Duke Canon, I don't
- 24:04Speaker 2: know what that is.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sure, but you can regift it or
- 24:08Speaker 3: use it.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I will probably use it.
- 24:10Speaker 3: I mean I thought, honestly, when I took the soap out,
- 24:13Speaker 3: I was like, oh, nice soap.
- 24:17Speaker 2: And I say that's a smell like smoke.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, actually you can get go real close. It
- 24:23Speaker 3: does have a smoky quality like a smoke. No, but
- 24:28Speaker 3: just in a nice I know you really want to
- 24:30Speaker 3: wear like a super masculine scent, right, that's right for you.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I've never heard of this brand, the Duke Cannon soap.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Any are you a bar soap person or a shower jail.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Person shower gel?
- 24:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 24:43Speaker 3: Yeah. Bar soap kind of freaks me out because it
- 24:45Speaker 3: always gets down to that like bottom part and you
- 24:49Speaker 3: know at that point it's just like disgusting.
- 24:51Speaker 2: What does this film feel like?
- 24:53Speaker 3: Is it small enough that I should throw it away
- 24:54Speaker 3: like I'm wasting right, and then it just gets caught
- 24:57Speaker 3: in your drain and everything gets backed up. Yeah, so
- 25:00Speaker 3: I like a good pump.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like, uh, you're off the podcast, leave
- 25:06Speaker 2: the ship.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I'm not even trying, you guys, not even try.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Wow, this is a very I guess I don't mind
- 25:14Speaker 2: a bar soap for hands, because frequently it smells pretty good.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Yeah, but also like as a house thing, you know, Oprah,
- 25:22Speaker 3: If you go stay at Oprah's house, of which I've
- 25:24Speaker 3: never done, she replaces the guest soap for every guest
- 25:27Speaker 3: because you don't want like the stuff that was on
- 25:29Speaker 3: the other guests.
- 25:30Speaker 2: So she's just throwing the rest in the ocean.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Yeah, she's destroying the earth. I don't even want to
- 25:35Speaker 3: talk about Oprah. Get a little disappointed lately, to say
- 25:40Speaker 3: the least. But and I'm fifty six, so she was
- 25:44Speaker 3: a big part of my sure life. Right, I'm very disappointed,
- 25:48Speaker 3: but whatever, not because of soap, but she got me
- 25:52Speaker 3: into this thing about like dried up old soap.
- 25:56Speaker 2: So I guess that was the one that got you
- 25:57Speaker 2: into the soap thing.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess that's why I'm giving you that soap.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Get it out of my house.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I don't like a bar soap in a public place.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Well private, sure, if it's just us privately, sure, just
- 26:08Speaker 3: us in our But if you have.
- 26:09Speaker 2: A bar soap in your place of business? What are
- 26:11Speaker 2: you doing? Oh?
- 26:12Speaker 3: Or yeah, I don't yeah, or a guest bathroom. I
- 26:16Speaker 3: think now that's.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Just it's uh, I think we've all moved on in
- 26:20Speaker 2: a way. Yeah, I think it's more just therefore the smell.
- 26:23Speaker 3: It can be very decorative. Yeah, my mom is really
- 26:26Speaker 3: into decorative soaps. Okay, so I actually one of my
- 26:29Speaker 3: fun things is to like really go find wherever I am,
- 26:32Speaker 3: like the most extraordinarily beautiful soap.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Where's the best soap you've gotten?
- 26:36Speaker 3: Oh, that's a good question. Probably like Santa.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Barbara Barb feels like probably the good soap capital of.
- 26:43Speaker 3: The like one of those like high end gift stories. Right,
- 26:47Speaker 3: it's like super decorated and floral.
- 26:50Speaker 2: And bar soap is like seventy dollars exactly.
- 26:54Speaker 3: No, I think that's about right.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I believe that.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Yes, Yeah, I think I did buy like a very
- 26:59Speaker 3: expensive bar soap there. It probably was like maybe fifty
- 27:02Speaker 3: maybe seventy. But that's a that's a lot tough so
- 27:06Speaker 3: but you don't use that soap. That sop's just there
- 27:08Speaker 3: to say, it's like potpourri or something exactly, it's like poopury.
- 27:11Speaker 2: What is soap made out of? Do we know what
- 27:13Speaker 2: soap is made out of? Is it wax?
- 27:15Speaker 3: Well? When I invented soap again, I brought you I'm
- 27:19Speaker 3: just realizing. Yeah, no, that's a good question.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Yeah, what are we Is it like like large glcerin
- 27:28Speaker 2: glacer Now you just say glittering, like you know what glycerin?
- 27:31Speaker 3: Well, exactly, I don't really know what glcerin is either,
- 27:34Speaker 3: but I feel like that's a big ingredient.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Glcerin's got to be at the top of them.
- 27:38Speaker 3: It's like a liquid thing that can be hard.
- 27:41Speaker 2: It gets gelatine gelatin maybe, but gelatin feels like it
- 27:45Speaker 2: would really fall apart pretty quickly in water. But people
- 27:48Speaker 2: are making soap all the time.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and they're all making their gets wet and falls
- 27:52Speaker 3: and then a hole. It doesn't make any sense.
- 27:54Speaker 2: No, I don't. I will only let soap be purchased
- 27:57Speaker 2: for me. I'm never going out for a bar of
- 27:59Speaker 2: soap for cage.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Now. You don't have to. At least that giant break,
- 28:03Speaker 3: big ass break of soap is how it's described.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Do you do a big thing for Christmas?
- 28:09Speaker 3: Yes? Christmas is huge in my house, which is sort
- 28:13Speaker 3: of funny. Because my grandfather was a German Jew who
- 28:16Speaker 3: escaped during the war, but we always my mom's side
- 28:21Speaker 3: was not, but also my grandmother. So incredible story is
- 28:25Speaker 3: that my grandmother on my dad's side is you know,
- 28:31Speaker 3: a descendant of farmers in Indiana, and her father was
- 28:36Speaker 3: in the Ku Klux Klan marching band, but not because marching,
- 28:42Speaker 3: not because he was like into the ku Klux Klan,
- 28:45Speaker 3: but because it was the only marching band that you
- 28:47Speaker 3: could be a part of a Indiana back in the day.
- 28:50Speaker 3: So I think this might have been like pre I
- 28:52Speaker 3: don't know if there was ever pre hoods, but I
- 28:54Speaker 3: can't imagine my great grandfather in a hood. I don't
- 28:57Speaker 3: think that was it. But she fell in love with
- 29:01Speaker 3: my grandfather, who University of Michigan saved him. There was
- 29:07Speaker 3: a time in the early Nazi regime where if you
- 29:09Speaker 3: could get sponsored by a like an education institution that
- 29:13Speaker 3: would take you away, they would let you because they
- 29:15Speaker 3: didn't want any of the smart Jews there. They wanted
- 29:18Speaker 3: you taken away. So University of Michigan paid for his
- 29:21Speaker 3: passage and he became a professor there. But we never
- 29:26Speaker 3: really talked about he became very he was he was
- 29:29Speaker 3: a religious you know, I think they went to like
- 29:31Speaker 3: a Unitarian church. But like so I always knew I
- 29:34Speaker 3: had these like Jewish and I had Jewish aunts and uncles,
- 29:38Speaker 3: so there was always a combo going on. We were
- 29:40Speaker 3: always kind of doing a little bit of Hanukkah. But
- 29:43Speaker 3: Christmas was like the greatest day of my life every year,
- 29:48Speaker 3: and both of my parents were extremely over done in
- 29:53Speaker 3: their gift giving. It just became hence two gifts, not one, right,
- 29:56Speaker 3: of course, gone too far. I may I always brought
- 29:58Speaker 3: you three and was brought you something from Japan. But
- 30:01Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, it's like a little too much
- 30:03Speaker 3: and I might want to give that to somebody.
- 30:04Speaker 2: But that I know another gift based podcast.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Yes there might be someone else, but but yeah it
- 30:12Speaker 3: was wait, I.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Totally lost usually talking about Christmas being going all crazy.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, so it was like we got like a
- 30:19Speaker 3: thousand gifts. So I am I continue that tradition we have,
- 30:24Speaker 3: you know, you have the stocking. If there were kids,
- 30:27Speaker 3: you would put the cookies out and we would write
- 30:28Speaker 3: a letter that goes on until you're about fifteen, and
- 30:30Speaker 3: then everyone.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Just like it's just a dirty dish.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Yeah, now it's just annoying, right, but you you know,
- 30:36Speaker 3: you have the fireplace open with the footprints and oh
- 30:40Speaker 3: the whole nine.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Wow, they're like props.
- 30:43Speaker 3: And huge stockings and then tons of gifts. It's really fun.
- 30:48Speaker 2: That's right.
- 30:49Speaker 3: I love Christmas.
- 30:49Speaker 2: That sounds lovely.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's fun.
- 30:52Speaker 2: And I'm just still thinking about the KKK marching.
- 30:57Speaker 3: My dad's been trying to write a movie script about
- 30:59Speaker 3: that for the like is really fascinating.
- 31:03Speaker 2: A tricky line to walk, yes, yeah, I know.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Although he was perfectly like welcoming and loved my grandfather
- 31:09Speaker 3: and had no problem, he wasn't his belief system.
- 31:13Speaker 2: It literally was.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it was pretty pretty interesting going to their farm.
- 31:22Speaker 3: It was very different than you know, my the my
- 31:27Speaker 3: grandfather's side of the family. Now, because of the state
- 31:30Speaker 3: of the United States, my father is actively seeking his
- 31:33Speaker 3: dual citizenship because if you were a descendant of a Jew,
- 31:37Speaker 3: you can, and then your descendants can, and so we
- 31:40Speaker 3: have looked into getting an attorney to expedite it just
- 31:43Speaker 3: in case any of us need to get the hell
- 31:44Speaker 3: out of here.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yeah, a lot of people in.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Germany would be the safe place.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Life surprises life as a way, let's open this next
- 31:58Speaker 2: thing here say nice rapping.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess I'm not really that good at rapping
- 32:06Speaker 3: better than me, but I did wrap.
- 32:07Speaker 2: It better than me. Oh, it's a book, do you
- 32:10Speaker 2: know I'm familiar through TikTok. To be honest, they let them.
- 32:16Speaker 3: When this came out, I bought six of them for
- 32:20Speaker 3: these girlfriends of mine for Christmas. And then I kind
- 32:23Speaker 3: of just like, I don't know, A couple have already
- 32:25Speaker 3: had it, so I've had like three on my bookshelf.
- 32:29Speaker 3: I did inscribe it to you, though you don't want
- 32:31Speaker 3: to read the inscription.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Says Bridger. You need to just let them bring in.
- 32:39Speaker 3: So let them? Is this I never got to the
- 32:42Speaker 3: second part of the book.
- 32:43Speaker 2: What's that there?
- 32:45Speaker 3: Let them? And then there's also like not being a
- 32:47Speaker 3: total asshole.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Oh okay.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Suggestion is not that you just like don't caretake anyone ever.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Right, But I think that people have only taken the
- 32:56Speaker 2: first half.
- 32:58Speaker 3: They only want the first half. But I am one
- 33:00Speaker 3: of those people where when someone's upset, I get extremely
- 33:04Speaker 3: uncomfortable and I try to manage the situation right. And
- 33:10Speaker 3: that sort of simple phrase was something that I felt
- 33:14Speaker 3: around Christmas time could be really helpful, you know, like
- 33:17Speaker 3: if someone's upset because this, that or the other thing,
- 33:19Speaker 3: you let them. And it was really funny because I
- 33:20Speaker 3: probably did the like actively was doing it for a
- 33:24Speaker 3: few weeks and it was like some point where Fraley
- 33:26Speaker 3: was irritated about something and I didn't respond. He's like, oh,
- 33:29Speaker 3: are you just letting me? Is that what we're doing?
- 33:32Speaker 3: And I was like, and I was like, he's right,
- 33:33Speaker 3: that's what I was doing. I was like, oh, well,
- 33:34Speaker 3: let him be upset and.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Then you have to let him be upset about being
- 33:37Speaker 2: let them.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Yeah, book, Yeah, exactly, but it might I don't know
- 33:42Speaker 3: a lot about you. I don't know if you need this.
- 33:44Speaker 2: This is it? Yeah, I remember this like blew up
- 33:46Speaker 2: on various social media for all.
- 33:48Speaker 3: It's like the one now are you mad at me?
- 33:50Speaker 3: It's like, I think, if you have a title, you know,
- 33:52Speaker 3: this is like such a great all you don't need
- 33:55Speaker 3: to read it. You just have to go, you know,
- 33:57Speaker 3: and just let them. It's like a mantra, don't need
- 34:00Speaker 3: to read the inside and you're done.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Do you think mel Robbins is out there freaking out saying,
- 34:05Speaker 2: there's the other half of the book. I've now created
- 34:06Speaker 2: an army of people who don't care about it.
- 34:08Speaker 3: By the way, she does bring that up a lot
- 34:10Speaker 3: because she gets a lot of shit for this because
- 34:12Speaker 3: everyone's like, this is like a theory where it's like,
- 34:14Speaker 3: you're mad, I don't give a ship.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Yeah, like I don't have no responsibility for anybody ever care.
- 34:18Speaker 3: I don't care. And she's like, that is not but
- 34:21Speaker 3: that's not because they've read the first half, not the
- 34:23Speaker 3: second half. They just haven't read it at all.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Right, I'm sure.
- 34:25Speaker 3: She's happy that people are still buying it just and
- 34:29Speaker 3: then they're like, you know what, I got it. I
- 34:31Speaker 3: got it.
- 34:31Speaker 2: I'm sure she's happy people are buying it.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Let them theory.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's such an interesting one because it's so
- 34:39Speaker 2: appealing to be like, oh, I don't ever have to
- 34:41Speaker 2: be responsible again.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I feel like it should go like right up there, right.
- 34:45Speaker 2: This is how everybody is. They buy the book, they
- 34:47Speaker 2: put on their bookshelf, and they stop caring about other people.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Yeah, there you have it.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Let them.
- 34:51Speaker 3: It'll remind you every time that you're at.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Work when you started taking this advice, How did it
- 34:58Speaker 2: change anything for you? Yeah?
- 35:00Speaker 3: I kind of actually, I mean, look, you know, I
- 35:03Speaker 3: have my father wrote a memoir. He's a very very
- 35:08Speaker 3: well known radio disc jockey in the Midwest. Yes, he's
- 35:13Speaker 3: in like the Rock And'll Hall of Fame Museum. Yep, Yep.
- 35:16Speaker 3: His name's John And this is really his middle name,
- 35:19Speaker 3: Records Landecker. So the racist Grandpa. His last name was Records. Oh,
- 35:25Speaker 3: so it became my dad's middle name. He was not racist,
- 35:28Speaker 3: the great grandpa. He was just in the Kukooks network.
- 35:31Speaker 3: But my dad, Yeah, he he became a disc jockey.
- 35:38Speaker 3: So I'm only saying that he wrote a memoir that
- 35:42Speaker 3: that is public, so I can say, like he was
- 35:44Speaker 3: an alcoholic and a drug addict when I was younger,
- 35:47Speaker 3: and children of alcoholics and drug addicts tend to really
- 35:51Speaker 3: get freaked out when people are like upset or the disorder.
- 35:55Speaker 3: So I was always like an alan On type adjacent
- 35:58Speaker 3: person my whole life, Like I knew the whole you know,
- 36:01Speaker 3: like I didn't cause it, I can't cure it. There's
- 36:05Speaker 3: another c there's like I don't know what the other
- 36:07Speaker 3: off the one is, but there's three of them.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Let them, yeah, let them.
- 36:14Speaker 3: And so that idea of like you know, not feeling
- 36:18Speaker 3: like you're gonna die if someone's mad, like not having
- 36:22Speaker 3: a panic inside. That was always something that I aspired to.
- 36:26Speaker 3: What I really liked about this title was literally it
- 36:32Speaker 3: was like an easy thing to remember.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Oh do you know what I mean?
- 36:36Speaker 3: It was just like it's like let them like. It
- 36:39Speaker 3: doesn't mean don't care about the bop you love and
- 36:41Speaker 3: you know, don't take responsibility for this stuff that you do,
- 36:43Speaker 3: but for the stuff that you can't control, and you're
- 36:46Speaker 3: just overmanaging.
- 36:48Speaker 2: You know.
- 36:49Speaker 3: I had a when I was pregnant with my child.
- 36:52Speaker 3: My my mom was a Hathai yngar teacher doula. Oh wow,
- 36:58Speaker 3: and she was going to be my doula. Now, if
- 37:01Speaker 3: you know me, I am not a natural childbirth person.
- 37:05Speaker 3: I give me all the drugs, right, give me the drugs.
- 37:08Speaker 3: But I was trying to please my mother. Oh boy,
- 37:11Speaker 3: so I agreed to have her be my doula. I
- 37:13Speaker 3: agreed to do natural childbirth. We get into the hospital
- 37:17Speaker 3: and my mom's with me, and I am like vomiting,
- 37:20Speaker 3: but I haven't even like opened up enough, so they
- 37:22Speaker 3: physically opened me and they go and my doctor's not
- 37:24Speaker 3: there yet who has the natural childbirth plan? And they're like,
- 37:28Speaker 3: what you know, we're going to admit you to the
- 37:31Speaker 3: regular floor, which I knew was the floor where you
- 37:33Speaker 3: could get drugs if you wanted to get drugs. And
- 37:35Speaker 3: the reason I knew this is I did a tour
- 37:37Speaker 3: of the Birthing Center floor. And when I went on
- 37:40Speaker 3: the tour, first of all, there's a woman like screaming
- 37:41Speaker 3: bloody murder as we're walking by, and I was like,
- 37:45Speaker 3: and then the woman looks at all of us, this group,
- 37:47Speaker 3: this tour group, and she was like, know who you are?
- 37:54Speaker 3: And she said it in this like very she repeated it.
- 37:58Speaker 2: No who you.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Up from the shadows, and yeah, if you are a
- 38:05Speaker 3: person who might want an epidural, do not come to
- 38:10Speaker 3: this floor.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Oh interesting, and I knew.
- 38:13Speaker 3: I was like, I'm an epidurl. And I was like
- 38:15Speaker 3: ashamed of friends who've like done documentaries around natural childbirth,
- 38:19Speaker 3: Like this is a shame issue, right, Like I'm ashamed.
- 38:22Speaker 3: You know, Gabby Hoffins, one of my closest friends, Like,
- 38:24Speaker 3: she'll have a baby right here on the floor in
- 38:25Speaker 3: front of us, if you know, like no problem, although
- 38:29Speaker 3: she is not judgmental, but I would think she would
- 38:31Speaker 3: judge me. Right, So we get put into this room
- 38:34Speaker 3: and my mom puts me in a bathtub and I
- 38:38Speaker 3: spend about an hour in the bathtub trying to regulate everything.
- 38:43Speaker 3: And I just looked up at her and I was like, mom,
- 38:46Speaker 3: I want the epidural and she I thought she was
- 38:48Speaker 3: gonna like be really mad, and she was just like okay.
- 38:53Speaker 3: And I know it was a huge moment for us
- 38:58Speaker 3: with each other, so I didn't even need to at her.
- 39:00Speaker 3: But that comes back. What that has to do with
- 39:02Speaker 3: it is like that's that simplicity, like know who you are.
- 39:06Speaker 3: I've used that like a thousand times in my life,
- 39:08Speaker 3: like who am I? What do I want?
- 39:10Speaker 2: Rather than being defined by everybody else's what your opinion
- 39:14Speaker 2: is of me. I feel like you're doing a lot
- 39:15Speaker 2: of good work for mel Robbins right now explaining what the.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Black glasses on. I'm basically doing a mail rob. It's
- 39:22Speaker 3: a personage.
- 39:23Speaker 2: You're like, you're the second half of the book. For now.
- 39:27Speaker 2: You're going to be all over TikTok. People be like, oh,
- 39:29Speaker 2: that's what was supposed to.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Say, that's what it was. I got it. I don't
- 39:33Speaker 3: just put it on your shelf, read the side.
- 39:36Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if that book is just blank
- 39:38Speaker 2: and they just put that title on the cover and
- 39:40Speaker 2: they're like, this is going to sell, it's going to
- 39:41Speaker 2: look into this.
- 39:42Speaker 3: I have like a book someone gave me that was
- 39:44Speaker 3: like a pretty hefty book and the cover is like
- 39:47Speaker 3: everything that has made me proud of Donald Trump or
- 39:51Speaker 3: something and you and it's just an empty.
- 39:52Speaker 2: That's a great gag.
- 39:54Speaker 3: It's a great gag. And it's just empty pages that.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Could be used as a journal. Yes, like a that's
- 39:59Speaker 2: a good hidden Yeah. No, one's going to look into it. Yeah,
- 40:03Speaker 2: private thoughts, that's true. Interest, that's true. Wow, let them. Yeah.
- 40:07Speaker 2: I I feel like that's kind of like part of
- 40:10Speaker 2: human behaviors, like just being the reason it blew up
- 40:13Speaker 2: in situations like you're just looking for an excuse to
- 40:15Speaker 2: do the bare minimum and so.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Well, I think if you're like you know, yes, if
- 40:19Speaker 3: you're a toxic narcissist, that could be used inappropriately. But
- 40:23Speaker 3: also I think there's a lot of people who are
- 40:26Speaker 3: really trapped in people pleasing. Oh yeah, I mean about
- 40:30Speaker 3: depends on which direction you're coming from. But you're right
- 40:33Speaker 3: for the for the for the real assholes of the world.
- 40:36Speaker 3: It's real like co sign right totally.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yeah, But it may, but it also makes perfect sense.
- 40:41Speaker 2: I should be letting more people do a lot of things,
- 40:43Speaker 2: and I simply can't. Yes, I'm just constantly paranoid about
- 40:47Speaker 2: everyone's behavior.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Clearly. I mean the name of your podcast is like
- 40:50Speaker 3: telling people what to do.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, yeah, maybe I should give let them a
- 40:57Speaker 2: little bit more of a shot. Yeah, it's hard. It's
- 41:00Speaker 2: hard to just let didn't.
- 41:01Speaker 3: You come up with I said, no gifts.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Deep greed, and just because you knew control issue, it
- 41:08Speaker 2: was going to be the opposite. No, it was. It
- 41:10Speaker 2: was just a thing that kind of I kind of
- 41:13Speaker 2: wanted to do a podcast, but obviously it's hard to
- 41:16Speaker 2: come up with an actual idea that I had. I
- 41:18Speaker 2: was driving home from a writing job I had, and
- 41:20Speaker 2: I just came into my mind. It's like, oh, that
- 41:22Speaker 2: is kind.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Of a podcast already, a great idea.
- 41:25Speaker 2: And then thank god the network was there to set
- 41:28Speaker 2: it up. And because I'm very lazy, I wouldn't have
- 41:31Speaker 2: done it on my own.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Me too, And it's exactly right.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Exactly right, that's the network. And so now I'm just
- 41:38Speaker 2: surrounded by objects that have for I think we have
- 41:41Speaker 2: almost three hundred episodes and probably fun I probably have
- 41:44Speaker 2: like five hundred objects.
- 41:45Speaker 3: I brought you the best gift.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Of course, we finally got to one that I could use.
- 41:50Speaker 2: The rest of this will be sent to the dump.
- 41:52Speaker 3: I really actually want to know, knowing it's not mine,
- 41:55Speaker 3: are you allowed to say, like, what has been one
- 41:57Speaker 3: of your favorite gifts?
- 41:57Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, okay, And I feel like I answered this
- 42:00Speaker 2: same thing all the time. So I'm going to try
- 42:02Speaker 2: to be a little I'm going to try to branch
- 42:04Speaker 2: out here because I usually say a car garbage can
- 42:08Speaker 2: was given to me, which is a great time, a
- 42:10Speaker 2: beautiful waff liaron. But more recently, a friend painted a
- 42:15Speaker 2: picture of my new dog, which was just really lovely,
- 42:18Speaker 2: which is like a good gift regardless of pocast, you know,
- 42:23Speaker 2: like Paul Rubins was on and so like this cactus
- 42:25Speaker 2: candy right here is just like a very that's fun,
- 42:29Speaker 2: memorable thing. Yeah. I feel like most of the gifts
- 42:33Speaker 2: murder thing. Let's see, Oh this is murder seed wrote
- 42:37Speaker 2: Maria Thayer made this for the Iowa State Fair, I
- 42:41Speaker 2: want to say, And she kind of does the seed
- 42:43Speaker 2: art every year. That's cool, and so she brought this,
- 42:47Speaker 2: but I was the photograph of right here. Yeah, that's
- 42:50Speaker 2: a picture of Iowa Deborris.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Oh god, I even recognize her.
- 42:53Speaker 2: She looks years old. Yes, that is her at that age.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Oh, I see.
- 42:58Speaker 2: And she sent a photo of her self dressed as
- 43:00Speaker 2: a president to an Etsy person to paint of her.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Oh that's really cute.
- 43:05Speaker 2: But I've gotten a lot of This is smelling salts,
- 43:07Speaker 2: which is essentially drugs, and most of the things are fun.
- 43:12Speaker 2: I feel like like that's weird. Ally gave me his
- 43:15Speaker 2: high school trophy. Oh wow, I mean I've kind of
- 43:18Speaker 2: gotten a little bit of everything. Yeah, it's a wild one, right.
- 43:21Speaker 3: What's it for?
- 43:22Speaker 2: It's for debate, I believe, expository. I believe that's kind
- 43:28Speaker 2: of the amy is now just destroying the That's a
- 43:40Speaker 2: beautiful masquerade mask is that's what we call those? Yeah,
- 43:44Speaker 2: that's from Chris Fleming. Yeah. I've just gotten a lot
- 43:46Speaker 2: of wonderful things, and now I've got let them and
- 43:47Speaker 2: so I've finally made it to the end of the
- 43:49Speaker 2: rainbow gotten.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Now wait here shows my my brain fog. Who what
- 43:57Speaker 3: was the second gift? You say, let's see, Oh, there
- 44:02Speaker 3: was some o the picture. What kind of dog do
- 44:04Speaker 3: you have?
- 44:04Speaker 2: Oh, she's a rotweiler.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Can I see. Yes, I took I'm obsessed with dogs.
- 44:08Speaker 2: I last night took a photo of her that I
- 44:11Speaker 2: just said. I've had her. We've had her for eight
- 44:15Speaker 2: months now. She just turned a year, and she's just
- 44:18Speaker 2: the most beautiful creature.
- 44:19Speaker 3: My god, I have a funny story. Speaking of gifts,
- 44:22Speaker 3: let's hear. So I'm friends with Samantha Ronson, who's like
- 44:25Speaker 3: this DJ Mark sister and an artist in her very
- 44:29Speaker 3: own right. Oh wow, Oh, she's very cute and beautiful.
- 44:36Speaker 2: She's a beautiful guy.
- 44:37Speaker 3: She's beautiful. So we lost, you know, our dear pet Izzy.
- 44:44Speaker 3: I think it was two summers ago.
- 44:45Speaker 1: She was a.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Chihuahua mix. We'd also lost our boxer Otis shortly before.
- 44:52Speaker 2: It was devastating, the worst feeling.
- 44:54Speaker 3: I actually had to put my cat down and Izzy
- 44:57Speaker 3: down within a week of each other. It was just
- 44:59Speaker 3: a terrible time, terrible time. By the way, while I'm
- 45:02Speaker 3: shooting that horse. It was horrible. It was horrible. But
- 45:08Speaker 3: she wanted to get us a present. And there's this
- 45:12Speaker 3: artist who makes these like pretty expensive, like felt renderings
- 45:18Speaker 3: of your animal that are three D in a little frame,
- 45:21Speaker 3: oh lovely, And she sent me the she sent me
- 45:25Speaker 3: some of his work and was like, do you do
- 45:27Speaker 3: you have a good picture of Izzy? Do you you know?
- 45:29Speaker 3: I want to get this for you and Bradley and
- 45:31Speaker 3: I was like, oh my god, that's just so sweet.
- 45:32Speaker 3: And I sent her pictures and and the thing showed
- 45:36Speaker 3: up and it is literally like the creepiest thing you've
- 45:39Speaker 3: ever had in your home, and like we had a
- 45:42Speaker 3: text exchange about it and she knows, like she's like,
- 45:44Speaker 3: what do you And I like, I couldn't. She was
- 45:46Speaker 3: like she thought it was hysterical. Thank god, she was
- 45:48Speaker 3: not offended. Thought it was absolutely sterical. But it looks
- 45:51Speaker 3: like you killed your dog and you have mounted.
- 45:55Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 45:56Speaker 3: Yes, it looks like taxa.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Do you have a picture of it?
- 45:58Speaker 3: I was just thinking I probably do somewhere on my phone,
- 46:01Speaker 3: but it would take me way too long.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Oh that sounds really unsettling.
- 46:04Speaker 3: I mean we literally hide it on a bookshelf upstairs
- 46:06Speaker 3: where no one can see it, and we sort of
- 46:07Speaker 3: pull it out as a gag the fold it's her head.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Oh no, it really.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Looks like you mounted your dog. After It's very You could.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Have possibly thought that was a good idea for a game,
- 46:19Speaker 2: but when you look at.
- 46:20Speaker 3: It, like on the page, it looks kind of cool.
- 46:22Speaker 3: You don't realize that the three D quality will then
- 46:24Speaker 3: make it look like you killed a deer.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Right, you know what I mean? Oh no, that's a
- 46:28Speaker 2: bad option.
- 46:29Speaker 3: It's not I mean, it was not good. It's not good.
- 46:32Speaker 3: You made me think of that, Yeah, it was, it was.
- 46:35Speaker 2: That is a nice gift you can give somebody after
- 46:37Speaker 2: their pet passes away. Is something a piece of art
- 46:41Speaker 2: about the pet. Maybe not a three days.
- 46:43Speaker 3: And then I got like a rock with this cat
- 46:47Speaker 3: she had for twenty seven years, Diamond.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Oldest cat I've ever heard me too.
- 46:53Speaker 3: And it was just weird because I ordered this rock
- 46:57Speaker 3: with Diamond's name for her garden and it just sort
- 46:59Speaker 3: of up like this, like this soap like. It was
- 47:02Speaker 3: just this big gray block of nothing. I just said
- 47:06Speaker 3: like Diamond and she was like, you know, she's a
- 47:09Speaker 3: virile as thete and I was like, sorry, mom, she's
- 47:12Speaker 3: not the rock I was. I didn't mean like some
- 47:14Speaker 3: rock that looks like a big turn.
- 47:16Speaker 2: You could have made that up.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it could have been better. It could have been better.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Oh wow, Uh well, I feel like we should play
- 47:24Speaker 2: a game. Oh yeah, we're going to play a game
- 47:26Speaker 2: called Gift a Curse. But I need a number between
- 47:28Speaker 2: one and ten from you.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Seven.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Okay. I have to do some light calculating right now
- 47:32Speaker 2: to get our game pieces so you can promote, recommend,
- 47:35Speaker 2: do whatever you want. I'll be right back.
- 47:37Speaker 3: Well, I happened to be here in the week that
- 47:41Speaker 3: a feature film that I made, that I wrote and
- 47:44Speaker 3: directed and act in that opened at south By Southwest
- 47:48Speaker 3: last year is having a theatrical release, which is a
- 47:50Speaker 3: very big deal for these little low budget movies. So
- 47:53Speaker 3: it'll be at the Lemley Royale in Los Angeles starting
- 47:58Speaker 3: the twenty seventh, and it will be at the Quad Cinema,
- 48:01Speaker 3: New York starting in the twenty six and then it
- 48:02Speaker 3: will reach out nationwide the next week. And the better
- 48:08Speaker 3: it does, the better the more screens we get. I
- 48:10Speaker 3: think we are on about forty so far and hoping
- 48:13Speaker 3: to go to like one hundred or two hundred across
- 48:15Speaker 3: the country.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Did you name the movie?
- 48:17Speaker 3: It's called for Worse. It's inspired by It's a rom com.
- 48:23Speaker 3: It's my attempt at a very traditional rom com. Oh fun, Yeah,
- 48:26Speaker 3: it's very trophy, very traditional. I have an insane cast.
- 48:30Speaker 3: I have Gabby Hoffman and Ken Marino.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Oh, and wonderful.
- 48:34Speaker 3: I mean just Kelsey, Ryan Hart, you know, Bradley Whitford.
- 48:38Speaker 3: I don't know if you've heard of him. Nika Haraga,
- 48:40Speaker 3: who's a really great young he's a skateboarder and a model,
- 48:45Speaker 3: but he also is a wonderful actor and all. If
- 48:47Speaker 3: you bring up his name around any young girl under
- 48:49Speaker 3: the nage of twenty five, she's like, oh my god,
- 48:51Speaker 3: Ni Goo and god. Just so many people I can't
- 48:55Speaker 3: even you know, Claudia Saluski. Just an insane group of
- 49:00Speaker 3: talented people joined me to make this little funny Oh,
- 49:04Speaker 3: Missy Pile, Missy Pile, I'm the lead.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah, amazing. Yeah.
- 49:10Speaker 3: So I wrote myself a lead part in the movie
- 49:13Speaker 3: because no one else is going to give it to me,
- 49:15Speaker 3: and I directed it and I thought that was going
- 49:18Speaker 3: to be really scary, but it really was, and it
- 49:20Speaker 3: was kind of fun. And it's inspired by my absurd
- 49:24Speaker 3: behavior after my divorce.
- 49:27Speaker 2: So fo worse right, Oh, I really like that idea.
- 49:30Speaker 3: That's fun.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Everyone go see the movie.
- 49:32Speaker 3: Four worse four worstmovie dot Com has a great place
- 49:35Speaker 3: to It has all the places it's playing and ticket links.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Beautiful, beautiful, Okay, This is how we play gift or
- 49:41Speaker 2: a Curse. I'm going to name three things. You'll tell
- 49:44Speaker 2: me if they are a gift or a curse and why,
- 49:47Speaker 2: and then I'll tell you if you're right or wrong,
- 49:48Speaker 2: Because there are.
- 49:49Speaker 3: Right or wrong? Is just your opinion, Amy, No, right
- 49:53Speaker 3: or wrong.
- 49:55Speaker 2: It's a universally truth.
- 49:57Speaker 3: That somehow I disagree with. Yes, all right, I'll just
- 50:00Speaker 3: let you have your opinion.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Getting ahead of the story, Amy Lambdecker. Okay, this first
- 50:05Speaker 2: one is from my listener named Denise. Gift to a curse.
- 50:07Speaker 2: When you were walking and someone stops in front of you,
- 50:10Speaker 2: but the second you catch up to them, they start
- 50:12Speaker 2: walking at your exact pace.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Oh, curse. Why it's so creepy. No one wants to
- 50:18Speaker 3: walk side by side with someone they don't know, Like
- 50:20Speaker 3: you either want to get ahead or you want to
- 50:21Speaker 3: get behind.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Mmmm.
- 50:23Speaker 3: That is a very uneasy situation. It's like, am I
- 50:27Speaker 3: supposed to talk to you? It's like it's like a
- 50:31Speaker 3: car that just wants to drive alongside of you. You're like,
- 50:33Speaker 3: are you going to kill me? Oh?
- 50:35Speaker 2: A car alongside you is a very eerie feeling.
- 50:37Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, it's even worse when it's just a person
- 50:40Speaker 3: standing there. I mean, I don't know what they're going
- 50:42Speaker 3: to do to me. Why are they doing that? They're
- 50:45Speaker 3: taunting me, They're going to kill me, or they have
- 50:48Speaker 3: no spatial relation awareness. No, that is definitely not good.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Wrong.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Oh, come on, wrong, Come on, that's a new friend.
- 50:59Speaker 3: Oh my god, you have.
- 51:00Speaker 2: It seems like you're just not open to letting new
- 51:03Speaker 2: people into your life.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Not strangers on the street, which is a satistic stranger.
- 51:08Speaker 2: As a friend. You haven't walked to the same pace
- 51:10Speaker 2: as yet.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Anyone who would do that is so creepy. I don't
- 51:14Speaker 3: want them to be my friend.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Well, it seems like you're wrong, and I need you
- 51:19Speaker 2: to just kind of let you.
- 51:20Speaker 3: I'll let you be right, and I'm.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Letting you be wrong. That's very generous.
- 51:27Speaker 3: Thank you, all right.
- 51:28Speaker 2: This next one is from a listener named Sarah Jane.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Gift you a curse people who put their bare feet
- 51:33Speaker 2: up on the dashboard.
- 51:34Speaker 3: Oh I do that. It is disgusting, but I do it.
- 51:40Speaker 3: I Mean, here's the thing. No one's eating off the dashboard,
- 51:43Speaker 3: no one's putting their face on the dashboard. No one's
- 51:45Speaker 3: really even touching the dashboard with their hands. So like
- 51:48Speaker 3: why is it so bad? I mean, it's kind of
- 51:51Speaker 3: bad because you get like your little toeprints on the glass.
- 51:54Speaker 3: That's not a great look. But there's something really great
- 51:57Speaker 3: about the sun when it like hits your feet, you know,
- 52:00Speaker 3: and you got your like toes up there. So I
- 52:03Speaker 3: have to say, what's it? What's the opposite of the gift?
- 52:05Speaker 3: The gift?
- 52:06Speaker 2: Correct gift? I don't see any people who have a
- 52:10Speaker 2: problem with this. I just don't. What's the problem? Who cares?
- 52:14Speaker 3: Why does that feel so good? To be right, it's
- 52:17Speaker 3: got to be my codependancy.
- 52:18Speaker 2: It is.
- 52:18Speaker 3: It's entirely you've got to work on that, work on
- 52:21Speaker 3: that off podcast.
- 52:23Speaker 1: No.
- 52:23Speaker 2: I think this is people who have an issue with this,
- 52:26Speaker 2: they've they've created the problem in their mind. The dashboard
- 52:29Speaker 2: is for nothing else.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Now, I will say Bradley likes to put his shoes
- 52:33Speaker 3: on a table at home, and I do think that's
- 52:35Speaker 3: not good.
- 52:35Speaker 2: That's right, that's dirty.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Yes, I mean it's a very strange habit, Like we'll
- 52:41Speaker 3: just come down and they'll be like shoes on the time.
- 52:44Speaker 2: No, no, no, no no. That's the only place you
- 52:46Speaker 2: can put your feet on the table is in the
- 52:48Speaker 2: waiting room. Like an oil change place, yes, right.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Where it's already like fill right dirty.
- 52:52Speaker 2: But at home, the shoe should be off before you
- 52:54Speaker 2: get to a table. You can put your feet on.
- 52:56Speaker 3: I agree.
- 52:57Speaker 2: But on the dashboard, go for it. If you're living
- 52:59Speaker 2: your life, relaxed, live your life. Yeah, you're hanging loose.
- 53:03Speaker 3: I got my toes done yesterday. They're silver.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Oh that's a great color. That's a real aluminum.
- 53:08Speaker 3: So this this would look kind of kind of good
- 53:10Speaker 3: on my desk. Very I couldn't put them here, But
- 53:13Speaker 3: I'm not a bad guess.
- 53:14Speaker 2: Thank you. All right, you've gotten one right so far,
- 53:17Speaker 2: so okay, okay, And this is the final one. This
- 53:20Speaker 2: is from a listener named Cameron Gift. You're a curse
- 53:22Speaker 2: Google search AI Summer Vie Woo. No.
- 53:26Speaker 3: First of all, do you know that the guy who
- 53:28Speaker 3: made Chatchy GBT. I'm sorry, I know it's not a
- 53:30Speaker 3: political podcast, but he's the biggest donor to the Trump administration.
- 53:34Speaker 3: AI is going to take all of our jobs away.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Like no, And I know I've really progressive. Friends were
- 53:38Speaker 3: like it's coming and it's a great tool, and I'm like,
- 53:42Speaker 3: I mean, okay, I did use it for one thing.
- 53:45Speaker 2: To write your book.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Yeah. I was trying to write a card around something difficult,
- 53:50Speaker 3: which was that someone had lost someone dear and a
- 53:53Speaker 3: baby had been born. A little bit like how do
- 53:56Speaker 3: I write that card?
- 53:57Speaker 1: Right?
- 53:57Speaker 3: And I actually did ask oh, and it did help.
- 54:00Speaker 3: I mean, this is what sucks, is it? It's helpful,
- 54:04Speaker 3: but we're all going to die like soon.
- 54:08Speaker 2: It's a kind of helpful.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good launching pad. I mean it's interesting
- 54:13Speaker 3: because I was actually like, I'm working on a script
- 54:17Speaker 3: with some people and we were having a little note
- 54:20Speaker 3: session Saturday. It was so fun and we're just like
- 54:22Speaker 3: going through this thing and coming up with jokes and
- 54:25Speaker 3: it was just such a blast. And I thought, is
- 54:27Speaker 3: this the kind of thing that like, no one's going
- 54:30Speaker 3: to need us soon? It's horrifying, absolutely horrible, And it is.
- 54:34Speaker 3: It was a sort of it's a sort of bigger idea.
- 54:36Speaker 3: It's not like Indie small. It's like and I feel
- 54:38Speaker 3: like those are the most susceptible, right, Oh, absolutely, because
- 54:41Speaker 3: some of those are written really bad and people still
- 54:43Speaker 3: love them, so studios don't care, like it's a piece
- 54:46Speaker 3: of shit, but everybody watches it. But how many Netflix
- 54:49Speaker 3: rom coms need to be made that are mediocre, but
- 54:52Speaker 3: they make a lot of money and no one cares.
- 54:55Speaker 3: So A A I is going to be able to
- 54:58Speaker 3: whip out like procedural scream.
- 55:00Speaker 2: I hate to hear that.
- 55:01Speaker 3: I don't know what's going to happen kids, But yeah,
- 55:05Speaker 3: I guess there's always been these points in history where
- 55:06Speaker 3: everyone thinks everything's going to fall apart and it all
- 55:09Speaker 3: sort of figures.
- 55:09Speaker 2: It's this one feels actually keeps saying that.
- 55:13Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, but if you read like nineteen eighty four,
- 55:16Speaker 3: it feels, particularly when you don't have reality anymore and
- 55:20Speaker 3: there's no truth, it's a little it's a little challenging.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Yeah, is it worth all of these things so you
- 55:26Speaker 2: can have a card written for you? Yes?
- 55:28Speaker 3: No, I really deleted it. I'm not. Although it doesn't
- 55:32Speaker 3: really matter because if you use Google, it's using AI anyway.
- 55:34Speaker 3: So what are we going to adapt? Have you stopped
- 55:38Speaker 3: using Amazon?
- 55:40Speaker 2: No, it's horrible, I know, it's absolutely horrible. I feel
- 55:44Speaker 2: like we have to do something where it's almost like
- 55:46Speaker 2: you everyone should commit one friend in their life to
- 55:49Speaker 2: stop using these things so.
- 55:50Speaker 3: That we can all just ride on their back of
- 55:52Speaker 3: doing it right.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Well, I feel like almost like a chain letter where
- 55:55Speaker 2: it's like I would get you to stop, you would get.
- 55:57Speaker 3: Another pay it forward.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how we get out.
- 56:02Speaker 3: I did order it. So I was staying with my
- 56:04Speaker 3: friend in New York and she was away at her
- 56:07Speaker 3: she has like an upstate home, and she got a
- 56:09Speaker 3: notification that Amazon had been dropped off and she was like,
- 56:13Speaker 3: I didn't did you order Amazon? And I was like,
- 56:15Speaker 3: oh yeah, and she's like Amy, and I was like,
- 56:18Speaker 3: oh god, yeah, like I'm not supposed to do that.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Good for her, I know, so she really did stop?
- 56:24Speaker 2: Wow? Yeah, I mean, yeah, it stops.
- 56:28Speaker 3: And then you know, you come down also to the
- 56:29Speaker 3: fact that all those people who work you know, not
- 56:32Speaker 3: the company. He needs to pay them more. That's the
- 56:34Speaker 3: biggest problem, right, he needs to treat his employees better.
- 56:36Speaker 3: But all the like subcontractors that also use Amazon, you're
- 56:41Speaker 3: also sort of punishing them. It's like a very tricky thing.
- 56:44Speaker 2: Oh, I mean we are all truly trapped.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Yes, we're trap We're very trapped. They got power, Yeah,
- 56:52Speaker 3: they got us. There's like five people who own everything
- 56:55Speaker 3: and we are I mean, even to speak out right,
- 56:58Speaker 3: it's like, oh, well, then you know, you're never going
- 57:01Speaker 3: to work again.
- 57:04Speaker 2: Yeah, there has to be some sort of regulation all
- 57:06Speaker 2: this sort of thing. I don't. I just don't. It's
- 57:08Speaker 2: both easy to stop using it and almost impossible.
- 57:11Speaker 3: Almost impossible. So it's like when you get a remote
- 57:14Speaker 3: control on your TV and then someone says that remote
- 57:17Speaker 3: control is evil. You need to get up and turn
- 57:19Speaker 3: the TV dial.
- 57:20Speaker 2: I'm not going to No one's going to do that.
- 57:22Speaker 3: And I was born before remote controls, Like it was
- 57:24Speaker 3: not a big deal, right, say, it really wasn't a
- 57:27Speaker 3: big deal to stand up and change the channel. But
- 57:30Speaker 3: God knows, once you get that convenience, you're like, what
- 57:32Speaker 3: are you talking about?
- 57:33Speaker 2: Right? So I guess, uh, it's just this thing where
- 57:36Speaker 2: you don't quite entirely give up.
- 57:39Speaker 3: I think you try to minimize, try.
- 57:40Speaker 2: To minimize, and maybe make small.
- 57:43Speaker 3: And then like find small businesses for the things you can't. Yeah,
- 57:46Speaker 3: I do do do that.
- 57:47Speaker 2: I do do that, and then just feel an immense
- 57:49Speaker 2: amount of guilt every waking.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Yeah, well sure always, But.
- 57:54Speaker 2: You're saying, cursed the Google search AI summer.
- 57:57Speaker 3: Yes, cursed. Now what's the right answer?
- 58:00Speaker 2: Of course?
- 58:00Speaker 3: Oh God, to get up and leave and protest. I'm
- 58:07Speaker 3: done with this interview.
- 58:09Speaker 2: I'm a Google employee. Oh, absolute course. These are those
- 58:13Speaker 2: AI summaries are particularly infuriating because they're just forced on you.
- 58:18Speaker 3: By the way, they're also like wrong, they're wrong.
- 58:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're very confident, so like I've seen, I
- 58:26Speaker 2: unfortunately am somewhat aware of how technology works, so I
- 58:30Speaker 2: kind of was ahead of the game, knowing that they
- 58:32Speaker 2: just send you the wrong things. But I know plenty
- 58:34Speaker 2: of people who will just read that and then that's
- 58:36Speaker 2: what they're believing, and frequently it's just totally wrong.
- 58:40Speaker 3: We had a big discussion around whether the Kidd and
- 58:44Speaker 3: Bad Bunnies super Bowl halftime was the kid who had
- 58:47Speaker 3: been arrested by Ice, because I went on the internet
- 58:50Speaker 3: immediately and my stepdaughter is like, that is not that
- 58:53Speaker 3: kid and his name was Liam, I believe, and you know,
- 58:58Speaker 3: and we were like, is it an you know, we're
- 59:00Speaker 3: trying to rewind and look up. And then I go, well,
- 59:03Speaker 3: let me ask you know, Google and googlegles, yes, Bad
- 59:07Speaker 3: Bunny brought And then we realized how absurd that was
- 59:09Speaker 3: of an idea that this poor kid who just got
- 59:12Speaker 3: out of deportation, which just show up at the Super
- 59:14Speaker 3: Bowl halftime show. Because you know the first thing that
- 59:17Speaker 3: him and his family want is a ton of attention.
- 59:19Speaker 3: You know, that's exactly what you want when you barely
- 59:22Speaker 3: like escape the clause of fascism. I gotta go on
- 59:26Speaker 3: the Super Bowl show. And so no, this little boy
- 59:29Speaker 3: was him as a younger kid getting his you know,
- 59:32Speaker 3: he's an actor. Sure, but Google said it was limp.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Any piece of information now that you think is true,
- 59:37Speaker 2: you should find four different But there.
- 59:40Speaker 3: Was this whole thing that like Trump called c SPAN
- 59:42Speaker 3: yesterday that was going around was this well, you know
- 59:45Speaker 3: he used to call he used to call in and.
- 59:47Speaker 2: Be this other guy. He just think everything has happening.
- 59:49Speaker 3: So someone called into c SPAN and was used the
- 59:52Speaker 3: name that he used to use when he would call
- 59:54Speaker 3: into a place. But I was like, why would Trump
- 59:56Speaker 3: care about c SPAN plus with AI anyone can do that,
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: you know, and I want to get four confirmations.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: And you know what else people do, know is they
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: like to throw something out there before it happens, Like
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: the Dodgers refuse to go to the White No, it
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: wasn't the Dodgers. The Seattle Seahawks refuse to go to
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: the White House. And I'm like, yes, some some guts
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: and that just wasn't true. That's just not true. And
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: then you know it's like somebody threw it out there
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: so that they might feel the pressure or something.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Right, and everyone's so ready for something, to a piece
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: of good news or whatever. They don't look at the show.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Oh that was a tough one. Those they should be
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: a shave. Come on, that's shameful.
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: Behave I just want the like lesbians on the other side.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: And this is all post heated rivalry. Hot hockey was
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: riding a real high and now these guys have I
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: had a great time watching.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: I have my husband on episode we just finished episode
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: three less okay, he's like, they're very good actor, they're
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: excellent actors.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Yes, only six episodes long too.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's five. Five, it's not even six. The
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: cottage is.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Five Oh wow. Yeah. So next season will probably be
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: four hundred episodes because of that success, and now they
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: have a lot to clean up after this other behavior
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: from the hockey players.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: Yeah, no kidding, Good grief, good grief. What a disappointment.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Well you got two out of three? Okay, Well that's bad.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: That's the worst. I think we should answer a listener
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: question Okay. People are writing into I said no gifts
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: at gmail dot com, begging for answers. Will you help
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: me answer something here? Let's see this. One says, oh,
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: they didn't even address me or you. Usually they say
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: dear Bridger or something, but this just gets into it.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: It says, I hate my sister in law's husband's sister's
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: boyfriend in parentheses husband's sister's boyfriend. Does that make any sense?
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: I hate my sister in law's boyfriend.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Let's just leave it at that, because the relative math
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I'm not working with right now. I hate my sister
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: in law's boyfriend. My husband thinks I should have a
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: conversation with him about keeping the peace, but I hate
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: him and I don't want him around my baby, who's
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: eighteen months old. He also hates dog's red flag and
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: she has.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Done I don't even need to read me.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: They almost broke up the day I had my baby,
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: but made up while I was pushing my child into
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: this world.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: I just found all this stuff that not off.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Leave it alone. You're ruining they did.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I keep reading.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: I apologize you were sent by a rival podcast.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: Jesus Christ, I'm so sorry.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Okay, let's see. Let's see, they almost broke up the
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: day I had my baby, but made up while I
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: was pushing my child into the world. They now have
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: been living together for about a year. How do I
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: coexist with this terrible human in our lives? He also
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: implied one time that my husband was going to kill
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: him after they had a disagreement and never apologize for it.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: And my husband is acting chummy with him now for
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: the sake of the family. The terrible boyfriend also just
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: bought my husband a two hundred and fifty dollars watch.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: What is with this guy? Is?
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: He is?
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: He left bombing my husband? And that's from Mary Anne.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: I mean the layers of whatever is going on in
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Mayor ends life.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: I mean, look, once you say he doesn't like dogs,
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: I'm right, We're done. Finished, We're absolutely done. What could
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: And you know you tell your sister in law, I
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: would love to be the husband's sister who's dating this dick?
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: I guess is what?
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: And so basically you just go to holiday events. You
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: don't do any special side gatherings. If you want to
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: see you know, if he wants to see his sister, fine,
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: you say, I don't trust people who don't like dogs,
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: and we're done.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Right, and then the two hundred and fifty dollars.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: You know what you do? You let them, You let them,
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: You let them robins about it. That's what you do.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: You let them.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: She wanted to be able to demonstrate the philosophy and action.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: That's a good question.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: And let the Let this guy buy your husband as
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: many watches as he.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: Will them have their romance, but you do not get involved.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: The moment an affair happens with love.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: As they say, light and polite. Those are some allan
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: on keywords. Yeah, light and polite. This guy's work gone
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: and light and polite and hardly ever.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: Oh and hardly ever.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: Yeah. Interesting, that's my ad.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: It's a good ad. Yeah, so do you need to
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: write a book? Yes, this guy is going to be
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: gone in no time. Nobody likes him. Yeah, and now
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: he's been exposed on this podcast.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: So like, is that no contact trend? Yeah, it goes
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: on the no contexts. The whole family goes no contact
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: contact guy. Yeah, get rid of him, let him buy
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: a few more watches, take him to a pond shop,
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: et cetera. Take advantage. That's well, I don't think a
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: two hundred fifty dollars watch is that expensive? But is
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: that just me giving away like mine?
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I think I think that's like probably I'm a person
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: who buys a twenty dollars watch.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: I don't buy watches, but I would imagine.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I think people buy thousands of.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Yeah, like a watch is like a thousand dollars.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: Right, two hundred and fifty is like a good watch?
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Yeah, why you get this is a.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Twenty dollars watch and I love it? Yeah? Because I
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: lose them all the time.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: Why do you wear a watch?
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: Because in movies, I don't want to be able to
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: look at my phone. If I'm in a movie theater,
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: I want to be able to look at the time.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: I thought, like when you were acting in movies, I'm like, well,
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: don't they have an opinion about your watch?
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: I make one, Demanda. Anytime I book a role, I
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: get to wear the watch.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: I wear this twenty dollars, this seventeenth century No matter
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: what I'm wearing this watch.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Uh, this guy's gone, Yeah, good luck, Maryanne. Don't write back.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: In Yeah, that's not nice to her.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Let me, okay, let me do whatever I want whenever
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: I want. Absolutely Amy, I've had a wonderful time with you.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Me too.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: I felt my new soap, I've got my book.
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: You're the best time you've ever had.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: I've had the best time I've ever had. Unfortunately, we're
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: wrapping up the podcast for good, and I mean, how
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: can I have a better time than this? You've ruled
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: this episode, the entire series is over.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: You're for a second.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: What if you just that would be such a fun
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: surprise for a guest to find out that it's the last.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: No, right, No, but I didn't know if like, I
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: don't know you were in some sort of transition period. No,
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: I'm glad that's not true. I know I'm episode three
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: hundred and God knows what we.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: Can care about two probably to eighty eight or something.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: I want to know what my numbers is else, do
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: we know what the number?
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: One know?

- 1:06:23Speaker 2: solid number.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: That's a good I like it's round.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not like ninety two two.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: I will always go down. It's the greatest episode of
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: this podcast ever.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Mark it down, write it down. Well, thank you for
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: being here, thank you for having me. Listener the podcast
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: is over. I don't know what else to tell you.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: I can go to the bathroom.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Amy. That's the one thing that's not going to be
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: allowed for the rest of the day is for Amy
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: to use the restroom. But listener, you can use the
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: restroom because the podcast is over. I love you, goodbye.
