POSTGAME: Kraken keep momentum going with 3-1 win over the Ducks (12/22) · Seattle Kraken Audio Network

0:00
Speaker 1: And the Kraken power play.
0:02
Speaker 2: Look, this is the krak Postgame Show, brought to you
0:05
Speaker 2: by Toyota of Olympia.
0:07
Speaker 1: Now for an in depth look at your Kraken hockey.
0:10
Speaker 2: It's the post game on the Global Credit Union Kraken
0:14
Speaker 2: Audio Network.
0:16
Speaker 3: Back at Honda Center, Mike Benton al Koniski with you
0:19
Speaker 3: as a Seattle Krack and have just finished off the
0:21
Speaker 3: Anaheim Ducks, improving to six one and one all time
0:25
Speaker 3: here at Honda Center. There is something about the oc
0:28
Speaker 3: water here for the Kraken, who would take out Anaheim
0:30
Speaker 3: once again three to one as your final score.
0:32
Speaker 4: You had a very comfortable play in this building. For
0:34
Speaker 4: whatever reason. Special teams were fantastic tonight, cracking going one
0:38
Speaker 4: for two on the power play and a perfect two
0:40
Speaker 4: for two on the penalty kill absolutely had a big
0:42
Speaker 4: impact on the oat come tonight.
0:43
Speaker 3: Let's define the word gutsy here for a moment. Now
0:46
Speaker 3: you can use many of them in different matters and
0:49
Speaker 3: context as well, but for a game like this which
0:52
Speaker 3: required the Kraken to dig deep with no Jaden Schwartz,
0:56
Speaker 3: no Jared McCann, no Berkeley Catton, who has looked better
0:59
Speaker 3: and better, they get the news this morning of no
1:01
Speaker 3: Brandon Montour and then the loser top pair defenseman and
1:05
Speaker 3: Vince done. This required a lot of guts and dignity
1:09
Speaker 3: to get this one through.
1:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, And you could tell Vince Stein was angry there.
1:12
Speaker 4: He was more angry that he was being taken out
1:14
Speaker 4: of the game than he was that there wasn't a call.
1:17
Speaker 4: He felt like maybe the interference or something. But when
1:21
Speaker 4: you don't get the call you want, you know you're
1:23
Speaker 4: still in the fight. But when you're taken out of
1:24
Speaker 4: the game, likely because of a spot that saw something
1:28
Speaker 4: they didn't like, that's frustrated. As a player, you want
1:30
Speaker 4: to stay in the fight. You want to be with
1:31
Speaker 4: your teammates, obviously to help win this game. And you
1:34
Speaker 4: could see why he was frustrated there as he went
1:35
Speaker 4: down the tunnel.
1:36
Speaker 3: Pretty imperative here with the crack and again taking two
1:39
Speaker 3: of two so far against Anaheim that they had Chandler
1:43
Speaker 3: Stevenson coming in on an absolute heater eight game points
1:46
Speaker 3: scoring streak. That comes to one end, but you find
1:48
Speaker 3: others who can certainly step in, and what a fine
1:51
Speaker 3: time for Freddie Gudrou to come through for a second
1:53
Speaker 3: goal the season on the power play.
1:54
Speaker 4: Well, I mean he's been put on that top ballne
1:56
Speaker 4: or that second line with Stevenson and Tolveen and you
1:59
Speaker 4: know he's very comfortable up there. Obviously there's the injuries
2:02
Speaker 4: and you can say, well he's there because of that,
2:03
Speaker 4: but he's absolutely not an anchor on that line. He's
2:06
Speaker 4: holding his own, he's contributing and obviously gets that very
2:09
Speaker 4: important first goal of the game tonight, just he Coppo
2:13
Speaker 4: and right crashing the net on the power play to
2:15
Speaker 4: get the only power play goal that the Crack got tonight,
2:18
Speaker 4: going one for two.
2:19
Speaker 5: Oh.
2:19
Speaker 3: By the way, there is a guy in net named
2:21
Speaker 3: Philip Grubauer who has had a turnaround season which has
2:24
Speaker 3: drawn plenty of attention and plenty of reverence as well
2:28
Speaker 3: for what he has done.
2:29
Speaker 1: But tonight he had one for the Ages.
2:31
Speaker 3: Here as far as this turnaround season, thirty eight saves
2:34
Speaker 3: on thirty nine shots a massive reason, if not the reason,
2:37
Speaker 3: why the Cracking got this win in two points.
2:39
Speaker 4: Also, yeah, not only was it a heavy volume night
2:41
Speaker 4: for Philip Grubauer with that many shots on goal, but
2:45
Speaker 4: ninety seven four save percentage is what he walks away from.
2:47
Speaker 4: He came into the game tonight with a nine hundred
2:50
Speaker 4: save percentage, So obviously that's going to go up as
2:52
Speaker 4: far as his stats go going into his next game.
2:54
Speaker 4: But a big reason for the win here tonight.
2:57
Speaker 3: Again the crack end three of the Anaheim Ducks won
3:00
Speaker 3: is our score as again Mike Betton alconski with you
3:03
Speaker 3: back at Honda Center. It was Freddie Gudrou who got
3:05
Speaker 3: to go in in four to forty nine period two
3:08
Speaker 3: with a power play goal, and then after that me
3:11
Speaker 3: Kyle Grantlin sign things up at fifteen.
3:13
Speaker 1: Forty period two as well.
3:15
Speaker 3: Before this tight game carried over into period three and
3:19
Speaker 3: the captain Jordan Everly, in a leadership period came through
3:22
Speaker 3: with a big goal of tennel four period three and
3:25
Speaker 3: then wrapping things up with the empty net goal.
3:27
Speaker 6: Yeah.
3:28
Speaker 4: Again, a well scripted game for the Cracking exactly the
3:31
Speaker 4: way they wanted to play here on the road in Anaheim.
3:33
Speaker 4: And you know, these three one games, this is exactly
3:36
Speaker 4: the kind of krack and hockey you expect to see
3:38
Speaker 4: every single time when they come out with a win.
3:41
Speaker 4: Very defensive, great goaltending, low goals against, and when they
3:45
Speaker 4: have their opportunities offensively they take advantage of them. Just
3:48
Speaker 4: six shots on goal for the Cracking in that third
3:51
Speaker 4: period two goals. One obviously was an empty net goal,
3:55
Speaker 4: but six shots on goal to come up with that
3:57
Speaker 4: important game winning goal.
4:00
Speaker 1: Uh, it just.
4:01
Speaker 4: Shows that they're the Cracking jump on the offensive opportunities
4:04
Speaker 4: quality over quantity when they can.
4:06
Speaker 3: The penalty kill has been a big part of the
4:07
Speaker 3: conversation here this season now, but we've seen some signs
4:10
Speaker 3: that there. They have been turning the corner here and
4:12
Speaker 3: got a big test very early on.
4:13
Speaker 1: But tonight two of two they were terrific.
4:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, they were, and and you know part of that
4:18
Speaker 4: is that it's easy to go perfect on the penalty
4:20
Speaker 4: kill when you only take one or two penalties. And
4:23
Speaker 4: the Cracking very disciplined tonight and not putting themselves in
4:25
Speaker 4: that situation where they had to kill off a bunch
4:28
Speaker 4: of penalties that there were four in the game in
4:31
Speaker 4: the San Jose there were there were five before that.
4:34
Speaker 3: So again the Kracking a three to one win over
4:39
Speaker 3: the Anaheim Ducks here for this seasoning, let's go down
4:41
Speaker 3: to the locker room right now and be joined by
4:43
Speaker 3: Freddie Gudreau, who came through tonight with the games for
4:45
Speaker 3: at goal Freddie here for a game like this, for
4:48
Speaker 3: how much this team had to dig deep. What's it
4:51
Speaker 3: feel like getting two points out of this building?
4:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, it feels feels great.
4:56
Speaker 7: Obviously, they're a good team, we all know that. And
4:59
Speaker 7: then we wanted to back back our last game up.
5:03
Speaker 7: You know, a win after a win is always harder
5:05
Speaker 7: to get, and we found the way and big, big,
5:09
Speaker 7: big game by our goalie Gorooby was unbelievable, and then
5:13
Speaker 7: guys brought the energy at the right time and we
5:15
Speaker 7: found the way.
5:15
Speaker 4: It was great, Freddie tight three one win for the
5:18
Speaker 4: Krack And obviously, but you know, be a little critical
5:22
Speaker 4: for a second, Like, to me, this seemed like almost
5:24
Speaker 4: a perfect game for you guys, But be a little
5:26
Speaker 4: critical in yourself. What could you have done better tonight
5:29
Speaker 4: to maybe make it a little bit wider of a score,
5:31
Speaker 4: Like is this exactly what you would call the kind
5:34
Speaker 4: of crack and hockey game you want to play every
5:35
Speaker 4: single night? Or or are there some things you could
5:37
Speaker 4: clean up going into the game tomorrow.
5:39
Speaker 1: There's always things we want to clean up.
5:40
Speaker 7: Obviously, I think there was some moments in the game
5:44
Speaker 7: where we could have managed momentum a little better. You know,
5:48
Speaker 7: but our team has been playing tight games, win in
5:51
Speaker 7: or even in loss. You know, we've been playing tight games.
5:54
Speaker 7: We just weren't able to find a way tonight. Found
5:57
Speaker 7: we found that way. So you know, there's obviously always
6:01
Speaker 7: things we need to Freddie, being up and get better,
6:03
Speaker 7: but we found the way. That's all that matters.
6:05
Speaker 3: Many have praised you, Freddie about your versatility coming into
6:08
Speaker 3: this season. You get a goal here on the power play,
6:10
Speaker 3: you're a part of the penalty kill which also came
6:12
Speaker 3: through two of two on the night. But I want
6:14
Speaker 3: to go back here to the power play goal which
6:16
Speaker 3: broke the ice here in this one, so to speak.
6:18
Speaker 3: And this game can be chaotic at a high rate
6:20
Speaker 3: of speed, But what was your feel? What was your
6:22
Speaker 3: look right down there at the front of the net.
6:24
Speaker 7: Honestly, just a pug bouncing around like a pinball and
6:28
Speaker 7: just you know, trying to bring it to the net.
6:30
Speaker 7: And that was it, to be.
6:31
Speaker 1: Honest, pinball wizard. He gets it done.
6:33
Speaker 3: Once again, to quote our good friend John Forestland, Freddie, Goodreau,
6:36
Speaker 3: you get two points out of the building here for
6:38
Speaker 3: this one.
6:38
Speaker 1: Go and enjoy a crack and win three one. Freddie,
6:41
Speaker 1: thanks again, thank you, guys.
6:42
Speaker 3: All right, Freddie Goodrow joining us here right down by
6:44
Speaker 3: the locker room. Let's pause here. We'll come back in
6:46
Speaker 3: just a bit to wrap this one up. Here from
6:48
Speaker 3: the booth in Anaheim again cracking three ducks one. Your
6:52
Speaker 3: final score will come back in just a little bit.

8:57
Speaker 11: But.
9:10
Speaker 3: Well, you can put this one here into the bin
9:12
Speaker 3: of digging deep tonight the crack and a three to
9:13
Speaker 3: one win over the Anaheim Ducks and taking down the
9:16
Speaker 3: first place team in the Pacific Division. Once again, here
9:18
Speaker 3: a matchup two of the Kraken, improving on the year
9:21
Speaker 3: to fourteen fourteen and six at thirty four points, Anaheim
9:25
Speaker 3: falling the twenty one fourteen and two at forty four points.
9:29
Speaker 3: Mike Benton al Kiniski, al over to you for your
9:32
Speaker 3: takeaways and three keys.
9:33
Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, I thought tonight the crack of the had
9:36
Speaker 4: a great first period in all the departments, if you will,
9:40
Speaker 4: seven to two on the high d injured chances, shot
9:42
Speaker 4: attempts eighteen fourteen their favor hit, seven to three their
9:45
Speaker 4: favor and sixty nine percent in the faceoff, So really
9:48
Speaker 4: sitting the tone well in that first period. Now it
9:50
Speaker 4: snuck away from him a little bit in that second period,
9:52
Speaker 4: but they still got out of at one to one
9:54
Speaker 4: after forty minutes. Special teams tonight were fantastic one for
9:57
Speaker 4: two on the power play, two for two on the
9:59
Speaker 4: penet kill, so big a plus marks there on that
10:02
Speaker 4: one extra credit tonight for the fourth line. Milanson Myers
10:06
Speaker 4: Karcha talking about hits in the game. Overall, there were
10:10
Speaker 4: forty four hits in the game. Milanson had four of
10:13
Speaker 4: the twenty four for the Krake and Carci had five
10:16
Speaker 4: of those twenty four, so big share of the physicality
10:19
Speaker 4: coming from that line. Three stars tonight brought to you
10:22
Speaker 4: by Mamakay. Third star tonight went to Radco Goodas for
10:25
Speaker 4: the Anaheim Ducks. He had four hits on the game.
10:28
Speaker 1: You've seen this movie here before.
10:30
Speaker 4: Al I absolutely had four hits from Radco Goudas, so
10:34
Speaker 4: a third start the night goes to him. Second star
10:36
Speaker 4: for Anaheim as well goes to Mkail Grantlin he had
10:40
Speaker 4: a goal tonight, and first star goes to Philip Rubauer
10:44
Speaker 4: stopping thirty eight of thirty nine nine to seven four
10:47
Speaker 4: per say percentage and just playing lights out. But I
10:49
Speaker 4: want to give a couple extra stars out tonight because
10:52
Speaker 4: I would have probably added a couple more cracking players
10:54
Speaker 4: to those three stars. Jordan Beverley two goals tonight, the
10:59
Speaker 4: go ahead goal, the empty net goal, he was plus two.
11:01
Speaker 4: He himself had two hits as well, and Coppococo having
11:05
Speaker 4: two assists on two of the three goals as well
11:08
Speaker 4: as a couple hits himself. So both Cocko and Everly
11:11
Speaker 4: having some great games tonight as well.
11:12
Speaker 3: Man that got the Crack into within five points now
11:15
Speaker 3: of the cut line in the Western Conference again sitting
11:18
Speaker 3: at thirty four points, the Kings and Utah side with
11:22
Speaker 3: thirty nine points.
11:23
Speaker 1: That we'll do it for here. Glad you joined us
11:24
Speaker 1: this evening.
11:25
Speaker 3: The four game road trip wraps up tomorrow and then
11:27
Speaker 3: it's a holiday break. The crack and take on the
11:29
Speaker 3: Los Angeles Kingzatcrypto dot Com arena faced off at seven
11:33
Speaker 3: airtime six point thirty.
11:35

Speaker 9: and Audio Network.
15:24
Speaker 12: Welcome back to the postgame show Crack and Fans and Boyd.
15:28
Speaker 12: We have a great one tonight in Anaheim. We got
15:31
Speaker 12: clutch goals from Freddie Gudreaux and Jordan Beverley. The PK
15:34
Speaker 12: was excellent two for two tonight. But the story of
15:36
Speaker 12: the night tonight was Philip Grubauer stopping thirty eight of
15:40
Speaker 12: thirty nine in Anaheim. And it's just it was such
15:45
Speaker 12: a gritty performance from him. But before we get into
15:48
Speaker 12: the highlights, we're gonna pause ten seconds for station idea
15:51
Speaker 12: across the Global Credit Union Cracking Audio Network. All right,
15:55
Speaker 12: let's get to those highlights. Crack and Fans. This Seattle
15:58
Speaker 12: Crack and Drive to the Net Scoring RecA app is
16:00
Speaker 12: brought to you by this Chevy Colorado. Whether you're an
16:03
Speaker 12: outdoor enthusiast, urban explorer or do it yourself die hard,
16:07
Speaker 12: there's a Colorado trim to help you do more. Chevy
16:10
Speaker 12: Colorado skates circles around the competition. Well after an early
16:15
Speaker 12: flurry of Anaheim ducks. Chances it was the kracking that
16:18
Speaker 12: go on the power play. Could Freddy Goudreau get the
16:21
Speaker 12: scoring started for Seattle in period two?
16:23
Speaker 3: Low to high feed now for Evans or trafficking shot
16:26
Speaker 3: to pluck to the draft the cocko and crutt now
16:28
Speaker 3: for riots hit may.
16:28
Speaker 18: Dostn't right out your score? That's a power play goal
16:34
Speaker 18: for the Kraken with fifteen eleven to gold in period two.
16:39
Speaker 18: Eventually at pinball in a period of Freddie Goodrow and
16:43
Speaker 18: the cracking on.
16:43
Speaker 4: Top one nothing yeah, it was copple Cocker from the
16:46
Speaker 4: side of the net that got the pass. Hard to
16:47
Speaker 4: feed it across and Shane Wright has a whack at it.
16:50
Speaker 4: There's a big rebound there and it's Freddy Gudrou that
16:52
Speaker 4: finds it right to the left of Dosetall. He was
16:55
Speaker 4: tied up by his own defenseman, empty cage.
16:57
Speaker 12: Won nothing cracking, Yeah, just a huge goal from Freddy
17:00
Speaker 12: Gudrou to get the scoring started for Seattle. A new
17:02
Speaker 12: face on the power play, by the way, with the
17:04
Speaker 12: exit of Mason MARCHMDT to Columbus, so good for him
17:07
Speaker 12: for getting things going on is from Shane Wright and Coppocaco.
17:10
Speaker 12: But just a few minutes later, Mikyle Grantlin would tie
17:12
Speaker 12: up for Anaheim.
17:14
Speaker 1: Look homb to Truba right so aid the traffic scars
17:25
Speaker 1: that bucket eyes.
17:26
Speaker 9: It was not the tape of Jacob Truba and a
17:29
Speaker 9: look like that meet.
17:30
Speaker 3: Kyle Grandlin got the last touch on that one as
17:34
Speaker 3: he's first out of the pile to celebrate right back
17:36
Speaker 3: toward the bench from a four twenty left in period two,
17:40
Speaker 3: Anaheim has tied this.
17:41
Speaker 1: Game at one.
17:42
Speaker 12: Big goal for Mikyle Grandlin for the only one for
17:45
Speaker 12: Anaheim tonight. That's from Jacob Truba and Jackson Lacombe, and
17:49
Speaker 12: the Kraken would go into period three tied one one
17:53
Speaker 12: with Jordan every streaking down the ice with a chance
17:58
Speaker 12: to take the lead.
17:59
Speaker 3: Ducks break kracking, take it away right side, Cocko Juvenirs
18:03
Speaker 3: end of the zone left side for every He's.
18:05
Speaker 18: Gos Jordan Everley nine fifty six remaining in period three
18:14
Speaker 18: on Pierre Steide left circle. After all that chaos, the
18:19
Speaker 18: captain lift in the Kraken to a two.
18:21
Speaker 1: To one lead.
18:22
Speaker 4: Well, Matty Beneer's and Jordan Eberley, they've played so much together.
18:26
Speaker 4: Matty Veneers get that puck in the middle of the
18:27
Speaker 4: ice he's looking for Everly he draws the defensive to him,
18:31
Speaker 4: slides it over. Everley goes top shelf, glove side onto stall.
18:35
Speaker 1: Two to one.
18:35
Speaker 12: Kracking just an excellent rush from the Kraken to take
18:39
Speaker 12: the lead halfway through period three, But that all started
18:42
Speaker 12: with Coppococo laying the thunder on radco Gutis on the
18:46
Speaker 12: face off to get that play started. He ended up
18:50
Speaker 12: with the second assist, also with Matty Benier's the primary assist,
18:54
Speaker 12: and that would stand as the game winner. So let's
18:56
Speaker 12: head on to our corps Light Hillist moments. Krack and
19:00
Speaker 12: fan reminder. You can win your chance to sit in
19:02
Speaker 12: the Corps Light silver seats. Go to Corslight dot com
19:05
Speaker 12: forward slash Seattle Cracking to enter. Must be twenty one
19:08
Speaker 12: years of age. No purchase necessary coors Light Choose Chill,
19:12
Speaker 12: celebrate responsibly. Let's go back to period one. Early on,
19:16
Speaker 12: before the Kraken got their goal, Troy Terry had these
19:19
Speaker 12: two massive chances on Philip Gruvauer and could have easily
19:23
Speaker 12: taken the lead if it wasn't for the Kracken Netminder.
19:25
Speaker 9: Looks to his left, Saucers want ahead Kreider Kracken zone
19:28
Speaker 9: out of the right side Terry fires and hit the
19:30
Speaker 9: post right above. Philip Grubauer mona crossbar as well, but
19:34
Speaker 9: it says nothing nothing. Terry longrange shot left wing knocked away,
19:38
Speaker 9: sharp angle bit lookom knocked away again.
19:40
Speaker 1: Here's Terry is shot.
19:41
Speaker 18: Save Babe by Grubauer off the glove captain no Bai Anaheim.
19:45
Speaker 12: Yeah, just a massive response from Philip Grubauer. Just a
19:48
Speaker 12: great game overall from him, stopping thirty eight to thirty
19:51
Speaker 12: nine shots. And this was one of those games where
19:53
Speaker 12: you felt like it could have gone completely differently if
19:55
Speaker 12: one of those early ones goes in for Anaheim, who
19:58
Speaker 12: just scoring bunches. It was great for him to kind
20:01
Speaker 12: of keep the lid on. And so now we go
20:03
Speaker 12: to period three where Philip Grubauer had a chance or
20:06
Speaker 12: had an opportunity to keep the cracking tied before they
20:09
Speaker 12: scored their game winning goal. With this glove safe held.
20:12
Speaker 18: The Lions on the cut right side mctavi's club save
20:15
Speaker 18: may by Philip Grubauer. May some Nicktavis so waiting from.
20:21
Speaker 3: The right circle got it right into the wheelhouse. But
20:24
Speaker 3: in the lament Philip Grubauer and says no dice to
20:29
Speaker 3: get a whistle and keep this game.
20:31
Speaker 1: Tied at one.
20:32
Speaker 12: Yeah, just an excellent night overall from Philip Grubauer.
20:35
Speaker 18: Uh.
20:35
Speaker 12: He looked like back to his you know, Vesna third
20:39
Speaker 12: finalist form when he was with Colorado tonight and especially
20:43
Speaker 12: when in twenty twenty two to twenty three with the
20:46
Speaker 12: Kraken in the playoffs. But the crowd the cracking would
20:50
Speaker 12: end up getting the game winner with Jordan Neverley, but
20:52
Speaker 12: Anaheim was pushing to get it tied. Could Jordan Neverley
20:55
Speaker 12: get a second one to put the game away?
20:58
Speaker 3: The call him long lead feed bro Tobden got on
21:01
Speaker 3: ahead Everley. There the empty.
21:02
Speaker 1: Naty scars.
21:06
Speaker 18: Jordan. Every flipboards deliver is a big blow and it
21:12
Speaker 18: could be the final one thirty five second slept in
21:16
Speaker 18: regulation as every breaking the time we're back to back
21:21
Speaker 18: goals and the crack and take a three.
21:23
Speaker 1: To one lead.
21:24
Speaker 4: Well is Ellie Tolven and that did some great work
21:27
Speaker 4: along the waller to get that puck free to Jordan Eberley.
21:30
Speaker 4: Jordan Everley skateed into a got a backhand off and
21:33
Speaker 4: found the middle of the net three one cracking thirty
21:36
Speaker 4: six seconds left. This one looks like it's gonna fall
21:38
Speaker 4: to Seattle.
21:39
Speaker 12: Just a clutch moment for a clutch player, and that's
21:43
Speaker 12: what captains do. Jordan Everley with his second of the
21:45
Speaker 12: day to put it away and make sure there was
21:47
Speaker 12: no comeback bid for the Anaheim Ducks. It's now time
21:50
