- 0:05Speaker 1: You know how the great podcasters always have like a
- 0:08Speaker 1: little side hustle, Like so Joe Rogan commentates the UFC.
- 0:12Speaker 1: So I've got my little side hustle. I am commentating
- 0:18Speaker 1: the cheerleading Championships, the Asian Cheerleading Championships. Why money talks,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Baby money talks? Do you know how much of these
- 0:27Speaker 1: people paid? And I send their kids to like cheerleading
- 0:29Speaker 1: and shit. So it's from like it's actually quite funny
- 0:32Speaker 1: because it's like little kids who are like three years
- 0:34Speaker 1: old all the way up to like university kids, right,
- 0:38Speaker 1: and it's like.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's a full on like it's a big deal.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Like how do you are you grading or just commenting.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I'm certainly I'm judging in my head, but I'm not
- 0:47Speaker 1: like I'm not a judge or anything like that. I'm like,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I'm just on the mic being or like what's up, guys.
- 0:53Speaker 2: But I've made a few mistakes. There was this one.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I don't know if I should say, you know what,
- 0:57Speaker 1: I will because I think it's a normal mistake.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I made maybe things where from the lawyer, there's one
- 1:04Speaker 1: I had to do where you do like a welcome
- 1:06Speaker 1: to country, and when you do like a welcome to country. Right,
- 1:09Speaker 1: It's like I'd like to acknowledge elders of uh past,
- 1:15Speaker 1: present and emerging emerging.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:19Speaker 1: So I get up there in front of thousands of people.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And this is the one thing I didn't want to
- 1:25Speaker 2: stuff up. I'm like, don't stuff this up.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Out of everything you do today, don't stuff up the
- 1:30Speaker 1: welcome to country. Hi everyone, blah blah blah blahlahlah. We'd
- 1:34Speaker 1: like to acknowledge those past president and immigrating. Oh my god,
- 1:44Speaker 1: these words are coming out of my mouth and I
- 1:45Speaker 1: want to keep going, oh my god, oh shit.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And yeah, what was the other one I did?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so there's it's actually canceled.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Is that what happened?
- 1:56Speaker 2: No? No, no, not yet. So there's one of ours.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Is that like little teams and stuff that obviously come
- 2:02Speaker 1: out and they're given like weird names, like you know,
- 2:05Speaker 1: it's all got to do with like gemstones and all
- 2:07Speaker 1: that sort of stuff.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And these kids.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Come out and they're called the Little Twinkles, right right,
- 2:15Speaker 1: So I had to like, welcome, welcome, these these kids out.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Okay, everybody, please, welcome to the stage. The little Twinkies.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Now, now, I had no idea until A lovely bloke
- 2:31Speaker 1: came up to me and said, honey, they're called the Twinkles,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but don't worry.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I laughed at Twinkies. That was the funniest thing that's
- 2:40Speaker 2: happened all day. Anyway, Good job, Darles, keep it up.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I obviously had to keep going anyway.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Apologies to the little Twinkies Twinkles if you're.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Listening, Apologies to everyone, Apologies to.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Everyone who was there that day, past president and future, immigrating,
- 2:57Speaker 1: emerging whatever.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So I'm also I'm one of the great podcasters with
- 3:04Speaker 1: a commentary career.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Oh there you go, there you go.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Former commentary career.
- 3:08Speaker 2: No no, no, no, still be there.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Coming to a city near you, guys, coming up. I
- 3:14Speaker 1: forgot where a where a car podcast.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's called The Driver's Show. It's called Paul and Gordy
- 3:19Speaker 3: formerly known.
- 3:19Speaker 1: As formerly known as something else shit a legal action. Okay,
- 3:24Speaker 1: So the twenty twenty four Tesla Model three has been updated,
- 3:27Speaker 1: or the updates have been coming. It's coming, right, And
- 3:30Speaker 1: we're not talking about a software update. We sort of are,
- 3:33Speaker 1: but not so much. We're talking is it kind of
- 3:36Speaker 1: like a design update. Usually when you get an update
- 3:39Speaker 1: to a car it's.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Like a little cool, little add on, little this little that,
- 3:44Speaker 2: little something something.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Now they're just taking shit away, like as if this
- 3:49Speaker 1: wasn't the most minimalist thing you've ever seen in your life,
- 3:52Speaker 1: it's now literally a couple of seats and some wheels.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they're talking about removing even more stuff
- 3:59Speaker 3: from from these cars and hopefully Paul, Yeah, I just
- 4:03Speaker 3: find it remarkable because I think what's happening now with Tesla.
- 4:06Speaker 3: They committed early on to not do big styling updates
- 4:09Speaker 3: because they were like, no, no, we'll just update the software,
- 4:11Speaker 3: the car will never change. Well, unfortunately the rest of
- 4:14Speaker 3: the industry does that. People are used to that. They
- 4:16Speaker 3: want something different and fresh, and now the Model three
- 4:19Speaker 3: looks old. Model why looks old, and they're now doing
- 4:22Speaker 3: what appears to be a very minor styling update. And Tesla,
- 4:26Speaker 3: who's ramping down production in China, that's sort of it's
- 4:29Speaker 3: slowing down.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It really recommends looking old. It just looks the same.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Do you know That's what? Right?
- 4:34Speaker 3: Not old? Just it looks the same. And I think
- 4:36Speaker 3: that's the issue people have here. So yeah, they're in
- 4:40Speaker 3: a position now where all of this is starting to
- 4:42Speaker 3: look quite dated, and I think they're now falling under
- 4:45Speaker 3: the pressure of needing to update these cars and make
- 4:48Speaker 3: them look a little fresh. And yeah, it could be
- 4:51Speaker 3: an interesting sign of things to come, because it is
- 4:54Speaker 3: signaling that they are adopting the stuff that regular car
- 4:57Speaker 3: companies are doing now as well to keep people interested
- 4:59Speaker 3: in the product, because it's not enough to just update software.
- 5:02Speaker 3: And part of that is making the interior more minimal.
- 5:05Speaker 3: And I'm like, I just don't know how you could
- 5:07Speaker 3: possibly do that given there's two buttons and they're both
- 5:10Speaker 3: on the steering wheel.
- 5:11Speaker 1: We're going to take away the seat belts because we
- 5:15Speaker 1: are now using magnets magnet as a future.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So, yeah, it is.
- 5:23Speaker 3: It is a little bit troubling for mine. But yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 3: look let's see what happens. Elon Musk is kind of
- 5:30Speaker 3: busy at the moment with Twitter, Tesla share price is tanking.
- 5:33Speaker 3: It really is a bit of a troubling time for
- 5:36Speaker 3: the EV brand.
- 5:36Speaker 2: He's a busy man. He's a busy man.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Do you see when he rolled up to his first
- 5:41Speaker 1: aid Twitter, he took the kitchen sink.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I support what he's doing. All the stuff
- 5:45Speaker 3: that's come out since he took over is showing how
- 5:48Speaker 3: much censorship there was for the people that the Twitter
- 5:51Speaker 3: people didn't like. It was like this lefty council on Twitter.
- 5:55Speaker 3: We're like, oh no, no, I don't like that. We're
- 5:56Speaker 3: going to shadow ban you. And it's like, well, you
- 5:58Speaker 3: can't censor stuff and then claim you never did. So, Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 3: a little bit dodgy, I reckon. Have you ever wanted
- 6:04Speaker 3: to go off road in your Lamborghini Hurrican?
- 6:07Speaker 1: Oh yes, Paul, I have funny you should mention that.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Tell me Moore, I've got something for you. It's called
- 6:12Speaker 1: the Lamborghini Hurrican Stato. Now we need you to say
- 6:16Speaker 1: that with an accent because there could be more lawyers
- 6:20Speaker 1: involved if you don't Lamborghini Uracan.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Oh shit, that's good. I thought that's good.
- 6:26Speaker 3: There you go.
- 6:26Speaker 2: God, I just got movement.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 3: So this is basically an off road version of the Hurakhan.
- 6:33Speaker 3: It was designed to go head to head. Well, I
- 6:35Speaker 3: guess kind of with the nine to eleven DAKA. It'll
- 6:37Speaker 3: still be powered by naturally asked bread V ten, making
- 6:40Speaker 3: almost four hundred and fifty kilowatts of power. Look, I
- 6:45Speaker 3: just think the nine to eleven wore it better. I
- 6:48Speaker 3: thought the nine to eleven looked way cooler than this,
- 6:50Speaker 3: and this just kind of looks a bit. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 3: you're not a fan of this.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I quite like it. I reckon it's really cool. But
- 6:57Speaker 1: I get what you mean about the nine to eleven.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But to me, in some ways, the nine to eleven
- 7:01Speaker 1: didn't look like it belong there either, but it has heritage.
- 7:05Speaker 3: They used to have those sort of lifted off road
- 7:08Speaker 3: nine to elevens, whereas lifting a lambeo. You're really not
- 7:11Speaker 3: going to be able to do too much with this,
- 7:13Speaker 3: so I just wonder what the purpose of it is.
- 7:17Speaker 3: And it'll be expensive. I think the nine to eleven
- 7:19Speaker 3: was like six hundred grand. It'll be a limited edition version,
- 7:22Speaker 3: it'll be bloody cool. But I just don't understand the
- 7:25Speaker 3: point of these. If you're paying six hundred k for
- 7:26Speaker 3: a nine to eleven, you're never going to take it
- 7:28Speaker 3: off road.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I love the look at these. I just think it
- 7:31Speaker 1: looks bad ass. It looks like something from Mad Max.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I love that they put roof racks on it. That's
- 7:37Speaker 2: so funny. Do you imagine little.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Family roadstuff sticking a bloody you know, ladder on there
- 7:42Speaker 3: or something?
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah, oh god?
- 7:44Speaker 1: Or one of those pods that you use because your bloody,
- 7:47Speaker 1: because you're event to have a child, and it accumulates
- 7:50Speaker 1: so much shit that you've got to take it up
- 7:52Speaker 1: to the caravan.
- 7:54Speaker 3: So we can take your doll's house. Put it in
- 7:56Speaker 3: the pod.
- 7:57Speaker 2: You take your kids doll's house? Do you sometimes? Oh? God? Oh?
- 8:02Speaker 2: But is that to Geelonglord? Is that proper road trips
- 8:04Speaker 2: for long? Otherwise?
- 8:06Speaker 1: I was just going to say, your dad, lady, you
- 8:08Speaker 1: were a dad that is under the thumb.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's definitely.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah. I think it looks really cool.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I think it's unexpected to I wasn't expecting them to
- 8:17Speaker 1: do this, but you no, neither was I.
- 8:18Speaker 3: So I think it's I think it's kind of cool.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I'm beginning to drive it, take a bush.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Bashing and well, yeah, will you drive this?
- 8:24Speaker 3: Do you think give it a fair old high?
- 8:26Speaker 2: If if you want to bring me along, that'd be great.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I meet and Trev. That's good.
- 8:31Speaker 3: But you guys go on a little b YD road trip.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Road trip meeting Trev, it'd be great.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You guys can bond and catch up on stuff. Yeah, yes, yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 1: we'll go to Berry. There's a there's a donut van
- 8:43Speaker 1: in Berry.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, bloody love it? You love it?
- 8:46Speaker 3: Sick your ticker wouldn't love another donut?
- 8:49Speaker 2: Not me. If you're talking about Trevor poor bus Is
- 8:52Speaker 2: on death.
- 8:55Speaker 1: When we had a chat to him, I'm pretty sure
- 8:58Speaker 1: he had a bottle of Gaviscon just I'm just sitting.
- 9:00Speaker 2: In front of him.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I don't know what that is.
- 9:03Speaker 2: It's it's a reflex stuff. I know because I take
- 9:05Speaker 2: it a lot. Ye look.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Verdict on the twenty twenty three Lamborghini Hurakhan Stratator Paul
- 9:12Speaker 1: thinks average. I think fucking awesome, except for those. They
- 9:15Speaker 1: just look like tacked on lights. Don't do you know
- 9:18Speaker 1: what I mean?
- 9:19Speaker 3: That's what they are?
- 9:19Speaker 2: Are they? I don't really know. We'll go down to bocf.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Your father needs to get some lights for the Lamborghini
- 9:26Speaker 1: Hurricanes or fucking Storata. Speaking of which, I need to
- 9:30Speaker 1: pick up a pack of Long Beach Ultra Mars on
- 9:32Speaker 1: the way, please. Craig Craig review time. Are you ready
- 9:37Speaker 1: for it?
- 9:38Speaker 3: Yeah? The twenty twenty three Volkswagen Amarok prices start from
- 9:43Speaker 3: thirty seven five hundred dollars all the way to eighty
- 9:46Speaker 3: eight thousand, seven hundred dollars for the top Spec.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Before on road, Paul went to South Africa and got
- 9:52Speaker 1: to drive an immorrok Is that how they say it
- 9:54Speaker 1: over there?
- 9:55Speaker 3: That was a they called a Bucky.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I need to drive me Imerok's did? My eyes are beginning?
- 10:01Speaker 1: Honestly, I'm channeling that movie The Power of One. That
- 10:04Speaker 1: was a quote from the Power of One.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Dead Dead, My eyes are beginning, Shut up, son.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Yes, we went to Cape Town.
- 10:11Speaker 2: You know.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Actually the funny thing as well, just before we get
- 10:13Speaker 3: onto Amrock. You know how the world is trying to
- 10:16Speaker 3: go ev and then.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Putting a job.
- 10:20Speaker 3: But yeah, well they're not going to work great in
- 10:21Speaker 3: South Africa. Literally, the first night I was there, I
- 10:24Speaker 3: was asleep and got up at like four am, sort
- 10:27Speaker 3: of bit jet lagged. Go to the loop, flick the
- 10:29Speaker 3: lights on. None of the lights were working. I'm like,
- 10:31Speaker 3: the fuck is happening here? And all the power was
- 10:35Speaker 3: off and I was like, okay, So I went to
- 10:37Speaker 3: the bathroom, got back into bed. I thought maybe I'm
- 10:39Speaker 3: just hallucinating.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Were you staying in one of your Pavo hotels? This
- 10:42Speaker 2: is quite a nice one.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Anyway, six am everything switches back on and I thought,
- 10:46Speaker 3: weird dinner that night, we're halfway through the dinner service
- 10:50Speaker 3: in the middle of the Cape Town. Cape Town, everything
- 10:54Speaker 3: switches off and so these guys have rolling power outages
- 10:58Speaker 3: because they can't support the new work over there.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Also, it's like scheduled.
- 11:03Speaker 3: It seemed like it was because the second night in
- 11:05Speaker 3: the hotel, the same thing happened. At a certain time,
- 11:08Speaker 3: they just killed the power and during the nighttime it
- 11:11Speaker 3: just randomly switched off. So now, if you can't even
- 11:14Speaker 3: run the lights in your country, how are you meant
- 11:17Speaker 3: to run a network of EV's. And I did not
- 11:19Speaker 3: see one EV I.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Was that your hotel? Was that just Cape Town? Did
- 11:23Speaker 2: it happen in Janni's Big Well, we.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Only transitd but it was just in Cape Town that
- 11:28Speaker 3: I noticed this. But I have read that South Africa
- 11:30Speaker 3: has a lot of issues with power. But yeah, so
- 11:33Speaker 3: look outside of that, Cape Town is absolutely stunning, Like
- 11:36Speaker 3: it is an incredible place. So yeah, went over there
- 11:39Speaker 3: to driving you Volkswagen Amrock. For those who don't know,
- 11:42Speaker 3: this shares a platform with the Ford Ranger.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I feel like it shares a lot with the Ford Ranger.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Well, it's virtually identical with the skin. Mind you on
- 11:50Speaker 3: the outside shoulder line down is unique to Amrock, so
- 11:53Speaker 3: all the panels and stuff like that. Inside the cabin,
- 11:56Speaker 3: they've made a few changes there as well, except they
- 11:59Speaker 3: got very shirty. I asked why it doesn't have cup
- 12:01Speaker 3: holders under the airvent like my Ranger does. Oh god,
- 12:04Speaker 3: and actually when I asked anything to do with the
- 12:06Speaker 3: Ford Ranger, they've got very shirty.
- 12:08Speaker 2: So well they would anyway.
- 12:10Speaker 3: So yeah, Look, we drove the V six diesel and
- 12:13Speaker 3: the four cylinder off road. There is also a petrol
- 12:15Speaker 3: turbocharged petrol version coming to Australia and that shares an
- 12:19Speaker 3: engine with the old Focus RS, so that should be good.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Fund.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Oh, they're going to launch in a number of trims,
- 12:24Speaker 3: from entry level basy boys stuff all the way through
- 12:27Speaker 3: to the top speck which is called the Adventurer that
- 12:30Speaker 3: sits on twenty one inch Holloy wheels, big bully. Yeah,
- 12:36Speaker 3: so look it drives very.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Sorry, sorry before you get before you get into driving impressions.
- 12:40Speaker 3: What's your vibe on the look? I actually really like
- 12:43Speaker 3: it. It looks great in person, especially with the variety of colors.
- 12:45Speaker 3: So the blue that the Aventurer comes with is unique
- 12:48Speaker 3: to Volkswagen. So they won't offer that on.
- 12:51Speaker 2: It's not a forward blue.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not a Ford blue ironically, but I quite
- 12:54Speaker 3: like the look of that and the whole reason we
- 12:56Speaker 3: were in Cape Town for the launches. Amrock will be
- 12:58Speaker 3: built in South Africa. Yeah, so they've got a factory there.
- 13:02Speaker 3: And look, Volkswagen's thing has always been that it's more premium.
- 13:05Speaker 1: It sort of has a vibe of if you're looking
- 13:08Speaker 1: if you're thinking about two different trade's ones in, would
- 13:12Speaker 1: you compare that to the Raptor or the wild Track
- 13:14Speaker 1: wild Track? Okay, so one's in the wild Track. He's
- 13:17Speaker 1: a little bit rugged, a little bit boots boots to
- 13:20Speaker 1: the ground kind of guy. This to me seems like
- 13:23Speaker 1: the guy, yeah, the form and the guy who or
- 13:25Speaker 1: the guy who designed the building, the architect. He's got
- 13:27Speaker 1: his tucked in shirt and he doesn't actually really it's
- 13:31Speaker 1: not like he's picking shit up.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like you with.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Your with your Raptor, you're not going to put tools
- 13:35Speaker 1: in that card. You're the only tool in that correct.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But actually the most important question I do have with
- 13:41Speaker 1: this with the Amarok and the top spec on the trade,
- 13:45Speaker 1: does it have the penis measuring thing that your card.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Does it does?
- 13:49Speaker 3: Yes, Yeah, Unfortunately it's not long enough, so I think
- 13:52Speaker 3: it caps out at a meter and a half.
- 13:53Speaker 1: So yeah, okay, jokes aside, if you had a meter
- 13:58Speaker 1: and a half penis, which in your head imagine that
- 14:02Speaker 1: you should start an only fans Paul's only fans. But
- 14:05Speaker 1: it's just like you with a flaccid penis the whole time,
- 14:10Speaker 1: flacid dick falls.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Just on the back of the ranger.
- 14:12Speaker 2: We could just call.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you just and you're sitting You're sitting down on
- 14:16Speaker 1: the tray, so you've got a little bit of gut
- 14:18Speaker 1: hang and your legs.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Are sort of a little bit tree.
- 14:21Speaker 3: The other day about enormous penises you and your wife.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, are you sure you weren't on you pawn? No,
- 14:27Speaker 2: it was actually a documentary. I love that, Hahanan. This
- 14:30Speaker 2: is a documentary.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I swear it's narrated by David Attenborough, and this is
- 14:35Speaker 1: you whispering into and then the man's giant penis slapped
- 14:41Speaker 1: the buttocks.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Sweet some of them were genuinely enormous. Yeah, yeah, so
- 14:46Speaker 3: I think it definitely has that sort of professional luxury
- 14:49Speaker 3: vibe to it. And they haven't announced pricing yet, but
- 14:51Speaker 3: I suspect it is going to be expensive, certainly compared
- 14:53Speaker 3: to Rangers, so they keen to see how they price that.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Given it is the same car beneath the skin hands
- 14:59Speaker 3: off Raptor as well, so Volkswagen won't be able to
- 15:01Speaker 3: use the Raptor for any of their stuff, so it'll
- 15:04Speaker 3: just be up to basically while track in terms of
- 15:06Speaker 3: speck sharing.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Is it a similar technology with a different face.
- 15:12Speaker 3: So the tech it's sink for, but it has a
- 15:14Speaker 3: Volkswagen skin on it, and I don't love the Volkswagen
- 15:18Speaker 3: set up. So with the Ranger, you know how at
- 15:20Speaker 3: the bottom you've got shortcut buttons for the temperature and stuff.
- 15:23Speaker 3: This doesn't have that good to go into several menus
- 15:26Speaker 3: to get to that, so there's no actual ease. So
- 15:28Speaker 3: for example, if you want to put the recycled air on,
- 15:30Speaker 3: you have to press climate on the physical button and
- 15:33Speaker 3: then go into the climate menu and close the vents,
- 15:36Speaker 3: which I think is just a bit clumsy. Same with
- 15:38Speaker 3: drive modes. With the Ranger you flick the drive modes
- 15:40Speaker 3: using the drive mode selector, whereas this you have to
- 15:42Speaker 3: go into the menu on the screen and then press
- 15:44Speaker 3: a button. Also, like the Range, I don't love that
- 15:47Speaker 3: it doesn't have paddle shifters, and that's not necessarily a
- 15:50Speaker 3: sporty thing. It's more just not having to take your
- 15:53Speaker 3: eyes off the road to use the fat, fiddly sort
- 15:55Speaker 3: of gearshifter. So yeah, I've got to share this as well.
- 16:00Speaker 3: So we got a security briefing for driving through Cape
- 16:04Speaker 3: Town and all the do's and don'ts because it can
- 16:06Speaker 3: be a little bit dangerous. And we're driving along and
- 16:10Speaker 3: for a while we had a high lux following.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Us that was eight blokes in the tray with the
- 16:16Speaker 2: machine guns.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Well, it was like a little bit weary of it,
- 16:20Speaker 3: and it followed us for ages and I missed a
- 16:23Speaker 3: turn off that we were meant to take to this
- 16:24Speaker 3: little off road area. So I pulled over on the
- 16:27Speaker 3: side of the road to do a U turn, and
- 16:28Speaker 3: he's pulled in immediately behind me, and I thought, I
- 16:30Speaker 3: think we're about to get carjacked here. So I've done
- 16:33Speaker 3: a U turn and accelerated away fairly quickly to our
- 16:36Speaker 3: next stop, and he followed the whole way. We get
- 16:39Speaker 3: to our next stop and then he all of a
- 16:41Speaker 3: sudden does a U turn and departs. And I said
- 16:43Speaker 3: to the guy at the next opposite. Just so you know,
- 16:46Speaker 3: we had this bloke following us for like most of
- 16:48Speaker 3: the way from the hotel, and he goes, Oh, it's okay,
- 16:51Speaker 3: it's the private security. So they usually hired private security
- 16:55Speaker 3: to follow us around because parts of the convoy went
- 16:59Speaker 3: through I don't know South Africa all that well, but
- 17:02Speaker 3: what I perceived to be slightly shady area. He went
- 17:05Speaker 3: to the Congo and yeah, they followed us all the
- 17:08Speaker 3: way through as protection. So yeah, if you are from
- 17:11Speaker 3: South Africa and you listen to this, let us know
- 17:13Speaker 3: what it's actually like as a local. Is it as
- 17:15Speaker 3: bad as you know these guys made it out to me?
- 17:17Speaker 2: Or is it safe?
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 17:18Speaker 2: I don't think it's bad. I don't think it's as bad.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I think that feels like a little bit of a
- 17:22Speaker 2: horror story.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah, let us know what you think.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Anyway, back to the car, this looks like an expensive, fellow,
- 17:28Speaker 1: He just I would prefer the Raptor.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Any day of the week, purely just on looks.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I think the Raptor is going to be significantly more
- 17:35Speaker 3: expensive though.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Oh I thought you just said this was more expensive.
- 17:38Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, we don't know pricing yet, but I
- 17:40Speaker 3: suspect it'll be more expensive than the equivalent Ranger, right, Yeah,
- 17:44Speaker 3: I don't think it'll be more than the Raptor. If
- 17:45Speaker 3: it's more than the Raptor, then they've completely lost their minds.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and has this got the all the sort of hardware,
- 17:51Speaker 1: all the bits and bobs.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Of all the same beneath the skin. The Panamericana model
- 17:56Speaker 3: which sits one beneath that top speck I thought was
- 17:59Speaker 3: quite nice as well. That kind of tones it down
- 18:01Speaker 3: a bit. They use sort of like a crocodile skin
- 18:03Speaker 3: looking leather inside the cabin.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Oh god, that is a South African thing.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Ah, So yeah, I quite like that speck as well,
- 18:12Speaker 3: and that rides on better wheels too. I've got to
- 18:15Speaker 3: say the ride on the Aventurer with the twenty ones
- 18:17Speaker 3: is pretty firm, so it's not Model I firm, But
- 18:21Speaker 3: you really want to know that your.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Your bum grapes aren't going to be safe?
- 18:26Speaker 3: Yeah wow, but yeah, fun times. I really enjoyed South Africa,
- 18:31Speaker 3: really enjoyed driving this, and keen to drive it on
- 18:33Speaker 3: Australian roads to see if it performs as well here
- 18:36Speaker 3: as it did over in South Africa.
- 18:38Speaker 2: What sort of food do you get in South Africa? Oh?
- 18:41Speaker 3: Look, the problem is you don't really taste South African food.
- 18:43Speaker 3: They try and cater for international journalists that are coming through,
- 18:48Speaker 3: scare us all. But I love bill Tong. So what's that.
- 18:51Speaker 3: It's like a dried, dried meat something like that. Yeah,
- 18:56Speaker 3: it's kind of like a jerky yeah really nice.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Sounds like jerky to me.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Yeah, but it tastes very different to that. I've got
- 19:02Speaker 3: a lot of spices on it and stuff.
- 19:03Speaker 2: It's sure it was beef. It wasn't like human.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Actually, let me let me check. Ll yeah, beef. I
- 19:12Speaker 3: think you can get it in different meats though, but
- 19:15Speaker 3: beef Biltong is the one that I've had before. I
- 19:17Speaker 3: quite liked it.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Do they have the haptic touch, that bloody annoying haptic
- 19:20Speaker 1: touch that needs to do so well?
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:22Speaker 3: No, thank goodness. So on the steering wheel, it's all
- 19:24Speaker 3: physical buttons. But the complicating thing is because you're sharing
- 19:28Speaker 3: a platform coming into the steering wheel or a whole
- 19:31Speaker 3: bunch of wires, and each one of those wires corresponds
- 19:33Speaker 3: to a button. And because the Volkswagen steering wheel had
- 19:37Speaker 3: three or four more buttons than the Ranger one, there's
- 19:40Speaker 3: a whole bunch of blank buttons, even on the top
- 19:42Speaker 3: spec Amarock model, which I think is a little bit.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Oh that's a bit. How's it going? They could have
- 19:47Speaker 2: redone that.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Exactly, so I thought that was a little bit lazy
- 19:50Speaker 3: on their part.
- 19:50Speaker 2: I still prefer the Raptor big time, big time everything.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Let's see what the pricing is. I think that'll be
- 19:56Speaker 3: the key part.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Anyway, anyone knows anyone, anyone from any REGI A dealerships
- 20:00Speaker 1: than when I have helped me out with the Wild
- 20:02Speaker 1: Training Ghost, that would be amazing.
- 20:04Speaker 3: So yeah, this will go on sale in Australia March
- 20:06Speaker 3: April next year. They reckon that supply will be pretty good.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Australia is the biggest market for Amrock globally, so it's
- 20:13Speaker 3: a pretty important model for Volkswagen and that should mean
- 20:15Speaker 3: that supply is great. So if you are a Ranger
- 20:18Speaker 3: Bar at the moment, it couldn't be worth switching to
- 20:20Speaker 3: this because you will actually probably get this right on
- 20:23Speaker 3: sort of March April instead of having to wait ages,
- 20:25Speaker 3: as long as they don't have any supply issues.
- 20:26Speaker 2: So you know, what's a knaff touch on this car?
- 20:29Speaker 1: The little compassy thing on the back, like the fact
- 20:33Speaker 1: that they've got something on there.
- 20:35Speaker 2: The compass kind of feels a bit jeep.
- 20:37Speaker 1: It does a bit, doesn't it. Yeah, it's not doing anything.
- 20:40Speaker 1: You're not full of anyone. It's like pointing north.
- 20:43Speaker 2: What do you do? Look up in the sky like what?
- 20:45Speaker 2: It's just silly. I don't know.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I think it needs something. I would have liked to
- 20:48Speaker 1: have seen more sports bars or something on this.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just wondering where that compass comes from. It
- 20:53Speaker 3: may have been a heritage Volkswagen thing, because I think
- 20:56Speaker 3: Aventura is a name that they've used on other vehicles previously.
- 21:02Speaker 3: From memory, Oh yeah, amarok Aventuras. It was an old,
- 21:06Speaker 3: old one. It looks like it has the compass on
- 21:08Speaker 3: it there as well, if I'm not mistaken.
- 21:10Speaker 1: So did you like driving this as much, equal or
- 21:14Speaker 1: way less than your current car?
- 21:17Speaker 3: It was different. It was a bit firm for my liking,
- 21:20Speaker 3: and the South African roads that we drive on were
- 21:22Speaker 3: pretty smooth. So I'll be keen to see what it's
- 21:24Speaker 3: like here. I reckon it's going to be firm when
- 21:26Speaker 3: it gets here, but we'll see.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I'm hungry. Can we get a beer now? Yes? I
- 21:33Speaker 2: think we need twenty. Yeah, well twenty.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Thank you for listening, and if you do have any comments,
- 21:39Speaker 3: suggestions or legal letters, get in touch with this at
- 21:42Speaker 3: contact at the Drivers Show dot com dot au. We
- 21:46Speaker 3: read every email that comes through, and Gordy also manages
- 21:49Speaker 3: the social media's and is across the DM slideage.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Yeah, give me what I saying?
- 21:55Speaker 1: Somebody has centers? Is this where Paul lives? And it
- 22:01Speaker 1: is a video of some sort of a Croatian religious
- 22:08Speaker 1: sort of all.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I don't know what that is. It looks I love that.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Is that where Paul.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Lives with him and his Latino housemaids?
- 22:20Speaker 2: Sofia Sofia, No, it wasn't it Rosa.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Well, you've got several maids, so it's lost in translation.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Nadine Armstrong has dropped into my DMS. Does she ring
- 22:31Speaker 1: a bell to you?
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yes? You know who she is.
- 22:33Speaker 3: She's really nice.
- 22:34Speaker 2: She seems lovely. Do you know what?
- 22:37Speaker 1: I think she could be my new Liz Hayes crush.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Hey, this is a good one.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Somebody sent us an somebody sent us a BA Tudor
- 22:46Speaker 1: Advocate headline. Right, yep, I love this. Local Dad's still
- 22:50Speaker 1: banging on about absolute ship box he sold as a
- 22:53Speaker 1: teenager that would have been worth sixty high. And look
- 22:56Speaker 1: it's a two sixties, said Dadda. That is literally me
- 22:59Speaker 1: bagging on about how much I fucking sold that point?
- 23:03Speaker 2: How much is so funny? The two sixty cents are
- 23:05Speaker 2: worth right now? It is funny anyway. So keep the
- 23:08Speaker 2: emails flowing. Leave us a.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Rating, please share it, rate it, tell everyone about it,
- 23:13Speaker 1: and thank you for listening to us.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I appreciate it. I don't need Paul Cares I do.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I like my fans.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Sorry, did you see your fans? Our fans for the sleep?
