- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece the original anime episodes eight sixty nine
- 0:20Speaker 1: through eight seventy one. Nice wake up, the color of observation,
- 0:26Speaker 1: able to top the strongest, a fist of divine speed,
- 0:30Speaker 1: another Gear four application activated, and finally it's over, the
- 0:35Speaker 1: climax of the intense fight against Katekori. In these episodes,
- 0:44Speaker 1: Movie and Category keep hitting each other. They just keep
- 0:49Speaker 1: hitting each other. That's just pretty much like the majority
- 0:52Speaker 1: of these three episodes, and everybody else is like gearing up,
- 0:56Speaker 1: getting ready, gearing up, but it's very much a holding
- 1:01Speaker 1: pattern in these three Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to
- 1:24Speaker 1: the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much
- 1:27Speaker 1: to Mina for commissioning this episode. Lena, I don't see
- 1:32Speaker 1: you in the chat, but if you're out there listening,
- 1:34Speaker 1: appreciate you very much. This was a really like the
- 1:40Speaker 1: first trio of episodes in this arc that I really
- 1:43Speaker 1: was sort of like, Okay, it's time to get the
- 1:46Speaker 1: show on the road. It was so far this has
- 1:49Speaker 1: been to me one of the better paced of the arcs,
- 1:54Speaker 1: and I have been engaged with the fight against catechor
- 2:00Speaker 1: for a number of different reasons in a way that
- 2:03Speaker 1: I wasn't really with some of the others. But I
- 2:07Speaker 1: do think that we reached a point here where it
- 2:10Speaker 1: was just a lot of the same thing over and over,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and I was getting impatient with it. I actually watched
- 2:20Speaker 1: these episodes weeks ago before, like I had forgotten that
- 2:26Speaker 1: I was going to be jumping into the live action,
- 2:28Speaker 1: and so I watched them and then checked my schedule
- 2:33Speaker 1: and was like, oh shit, oh live action right right right,
- 2:36Speaker 1: So I had to jump over and you know, start
- 2:40Speaker 1: watching that. And came back to this one weeks later,
- 2:45Speaker 1: And it was odd because I knew I had watched them,
- 2:50Speaker 1: but I really couldn't remember what happened, And upon rewatch,
- 2:55Speaker 1: I think it kind of makes sense that I can't
- 2:57Speaker 1: remember what happened because it is a blur of a
- 3:02Speaker 1: lot of the same action repeatedly. And you know, this
- 3:08Speaker 1: is I knew that we would probably get to this point.
- 3:11Speaker 1: You know, it's just sort of like can't be helped
- 3:13Speaker 1: to a degree when it comes to the anime. But
- 3:17Speaker 1: I will say that at the very least, despite becoming
- 3:23Speaker 1: a little bit impatient, I was still not as like
- 3:29Speaker 1: bored and get on with it, as I have been
- 3:33Speaker 1: with other stories. So and you know, there's also the
- 3:37Speaker 1: factor of, like having taken a break to watch the
- 3:41Speaker 1: live action. Probably doesn't help because the live action is
- 3:46Speaker 1: paced so well because they can cut down so much
- 3:50Speaker 1: that returning to the regular pacing of the anime, I know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: regular pacing is probably not the way to say it,
- 3:57Speaker 1: because the regular pacing, you would say, is really coming
- 4:00Speaker 1: from the manga itself. But I don't have that as
- 4:03Speaker 1: my frame of reference, so this is what I'm saying.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But probably it's just going to be a very stark
- 4:10Speaker 1: contrast to the live action. And even if this were
- 4:16Speaker 1: paced better, I might still have this feeling a little bit.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It's just gonna be a comparison. Despite knowing that I shouldn't,
- 4:23Speaker 1: I can't help it. Florian says, well, at least we
- 4:28Speaker 1: are done now with him, But I like this fight overall,
- 4:30Speaker 1: one of the good Loofy fights in my opinion. Yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 1: that's what I'll say, is like, I think him going
- 4:37Speaker 1: down at the end of this trio of episodes, if
- 4:40Speaker 1: I'm just beginning to get really impatient and then he drops,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I think that's pretty solid. Now, I'll admit I wasn't
- 4:52Speaker 1: sure that we were actually done with him, So Florian's
- 4:56Speaker 1: saying this, I don't know if you're fucking with me
- 4:59Speaker 1: or if this is true or what, but like we'll
- 5:02Speaker 1: see people go down and then we're still kind of
- 5:04Speaker 1: not done with them, so I was sort of like,
- 5:07Speaker 1: are we gonna con The episode is titled Finally It's over,
- 5:12Speaker 1: but that is the titles of these episodes can be
- 5:17Speaker 1: flat out lies. We have seen it many a time,
- 5:21Speaker 1: so I do not take that shit seriously at all.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It's just whatever it says. I almost explicitly don't factor
- 5:29Speaker 1: in just because I know that you'll be saying anything sometimes.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So I feel like there's only I'm trying to think
- 5:41Speaker 1: exactly how I want to structure this because we really
- 5:45Speaker 1: only touch base with the straw Hats on the Sunny
- 5:50Speaker 1: like once, and there's not a lot going on there.
- 5:56Speaker 1: It's big moms still chasing them. It's Uh Brooke saying
- 6:01Speaker 1: like he's going to be the one that speaks on
- 6:03Speaker 1: behalf of the team, and then he starts to yell out,
- 6:06Speaker 1: can I see your panties? And Nomi has to knock
- 6:08Speaker 1: him down, and it's Jim Bay saying they have a
- 6:14Speaker 1: bunch of people like waiting for us on that island.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So it's a real short burst with them that we
- 6:24Speaker 1: get and then there's a little bit more. Sorry, Florian says, Honestly,
- 6:34Speaker 1: I could tell you this will go on another twenty
- 6:36Speaker 1: episodes and it's just as likely, right, it really is.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Like so the bit with Soanjy and Pudding is slightly longer, Well,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I stay longer. What I mean by that is like
- 6:52Speaker 1: it's more total time out of these three episodes. It's
- 6:56Speaker 1: still short little clips that we get cutting over to them,
- 6:59Speaker 1: but it's a lot more movement, and we do it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I think when we go see the straw hats on
- 7:09Speaker 1: the sunny, it's like the one time out of all
- 7:11Speaker 1: three episodes. And with Sanji we go and see him
- 7:15Speaker 1: and putting every episode for just a little while. And
- 7:20Speaker 1: mostly what's going on is them beginning to like infiltrate
- 7:25Speaker 1: the area where they're meant to meet Lufi and see
- 7:27Speaker 1: that this place has been like kind of locked down,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and he is putting together the fact that they must
- 7:36Speaker 1: have destroyed all of these other mirrors in order to
- 7:40Speaker 1: force Lufy to come out from this specific area. It's
- 7:45Speaker 1: sort of impressive to me honestly that he is able
- 7:50Speaker 1: to figure that out so quickly, because I don't know.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I just sort of was like, oh, look at you
- 7:55Speaker 1: using your head, you know, I don't know. Maybe sometimes
- 7:58Speaker 1: I sort of underestimate Sanji as a person because he's
- 8:02Speaker 1: such a goober that I'll just like straight up forget
- 8:06Speaker 1: that he can ever be smart at all. So what
- 8:11Speaker 1: we also get with Sanji. I swear to God, I
- 8:21Speaker 1: know that I have said how much I love him
- 8:23Speaker 1: in Putting, and that's just like getting stronger every time
- 8:27Speaker 1: we see them together. I just love them a little
- 8:29Speaker 1: bit more. And this is like compounded by the fact
- 8:35Speaker 1: that he just doesn't seem to clock what's going on
- 8:41Speaker 1: with her really in a way that's almost unbelievable. I'm
- 8:44Speaker 1: not mad at it, really, but there have been a
- 8:46Speaker 1: few moments of me being like, oh, come on, But
- 8:50Speaker 1: Pudding is still very much struggling with this weird kind
- 8:54Speaker 1: of alternate personality thing she's got going on where she's
- 9:00Speaker 1: herman to like lash out in order to protect herself
- 9:03Speaker 1: and insist to him that like she doesn't support him,
- 9:07Speaker 1: that she hopes his friends are dead, you know, like
- 9:11Speaker 1: she just will do this and then immediately be asking herself,
- 9:16Speaker 1: Oh my god, why did I do that? Why did
- 9:18Speaker 1: I say that that wasn't nice? Why am I doing this?
- 9:22Speaker 1: And I I really do enjoy this bizarre dynamic. But
- 9:32Speaker 1: here's my caveat. I I'm really worried that her being
- 9:39Speaker 1: unable to like restrain this is going to be what
- 9:43Speaker 1: leads them to actually like splitting up. And I've said
- 9:49Speaker 1: it already, I am not ironically saying this. I want
- 9:52Speaker 1: them together. I want canonically for Sanji to marry Pudding
- 9:58Speaker 1: and for Putting to join the straw half, and for
- 10:00Speaker 1: the two of them to live on the sunny and
- 10:03Speaker 1: make delicious dinners and desserts together and have sex on
- 10:08Speaker 1: the kitchen floor and be in love. And that's what
- 10:11Speaker 1: I want. That's what I want. And I say this
- 10:19Speaker 1: like without the slightest bit of irony, because I know
- 10:22Speaker 1: Oda will do whatever he feels like. There is no
- 10:26Speaker 1: good reason that she can't become a straw hat isn't.
- 10:31Speaker 1: If anything, the fact that she can be so sadistic
- 10:35Speaker 1: is like a perk potentially to using her in missions
- 10:41Speaker 1: and whatnot, you know, and her trying to overcome this
- 10:45Speaker 1: urge to be fucking diabolical. I could see this as
- 10:50Speaker 1: like another arc for her to go on. I really
- 10:53Speaker 1: like it. I just don't want I My concern is
- 11:07Speaker 1: that this sort of other personality thing that she has
- 11:10Speaker 1: got going on is going to result in her driving
- 11:14Speaker 1: Soanji away, but being really sad about it because she
- 11:19Speaker 1: wasn't really in control of herself. And I feel like
- 11:24Speaker 1: Putting has been through enough. Can't we just let her
- 11:28Speaker 1: have a win? Do we have to have her like
- 11:34Speaker 1: trauma inform her behavior to the point that she pushes
- 11:36Speaker 1: away a guy that she actually likes. I just kind
- 11:40Speaker 1: of want her to have a happy ending. And the
- 11:45Speaker 1: idea of the two of them like going their separate ways,
- 11:48Speaker 1: not because she chose to do that, but because there's
- 11:54Speaker 1: this like part of her that is outside her control,
- 11:57Speaker 1: because of how the trauma of growing up as one
- 12:02Speaker 1: of Big Mom's kids has shaped her as a person,
- 12:06Speaker 1: is like tragic to me. It's really sad. So I
- 12:12Speaker 1: really really, really really really stand by I want them together.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I want her to like be working on this. I
- 12:20Speaker 1: want an ongoing arc for her. I don't want the
- 12:26Speaker 1: two of them to break up because the arc is
- 12:28Speaker 1: ending and we have to move on. I just don't
- 12:30Speaker 1: want that at all, So we'll see. I am like,
- 12:39Speaker 1: there's little moments here, for example, where she's got her
- 12:42Speaker 1: hand out and he holds it because the carpet that
- 12:46Speaker 1: they're on sort of makes this sudden move, and she
- 12:50Speaker 1: had already been looking at his hand and starting to
- 12:54Speaker 1: reach for it. And when the carpet moves very suddenly,
- 12:58Speaker 1: what I thought was going to have and was she's
- 13:01Speaker 1: gonna look down, he will have taken her hand, and
- 13:04Speaker 1: the fact that she was in the process of taking
- 13:07Speaker 1: his hand will be irrelevant because now he initiated the
- 13:13Speaker 1: contact and she's no longer in control. She's going to
- 13:16Speaker 1: react poorly and push him away, and instead she sees
- 13:24Speaker 1: that he's holding her hand. She blushes and gets really
- 13:29Speaker 1: happy about it, and then he says, oh, sorry, this
- 13:36Speaker 1: is making us look like we're a couple. I'll let
- 13:39Speaker 1: go now, because she has said more than once that
- 13:41Speaker 1: she doesn't want anybody seeing them together and mistaking them
- 13:46Speaker 1: for a couple. Now, this is the only problem that
- 13:52Speaker 1: I have with this storyline. I don't believe, for one
- 14:00Speaker 1: single solitary instant ever, that Sanji is faced with this
- 14:09Speaker 1: girl that looks like putting and has a modicum of
- 14:15Speaker 1: self control of any kind. I would love to believe it.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I want that for Sanjie. I would like him to
- 14:22Speaker 1: be that person. But it was quite recently that he
- 14:28Speaker 1: was dying from blood loss from being too horny. And
- 14:33Speaker 1: now he's sitting next to this beautiful girl and saying, oh,
- 14:39Speaker 1: I'll let go of your hand in this very measured,
- 14:41Speaker 1: even voice, because he's listening to what she says about
- 14:44Speaker 1: wanting contact or not. No, no, no. The only way
- 14:51Speaker 1: that this story can work at all is if he
- 14:55Speaker 1: has this self control. So I get why we have
- 14:58Speaker 1: to have him be like this, because otherwise he's falling
- 15:02Speaker 1: all over her and she's like weirdly all over him,
- 15:05Speaker 1: but then pulling back and then all over It's it's
- 15:09Speaker 1: it doesn't quite work right. You have to have him
- 15:15Speaker 1: being the constant and sort of straight man in the
- 15:18Speaker 1: face of her weirdness. But let's all be very fucking
- 15:24Speaker 1: for real. Sonji is not this guy. Sanji would be
- 15:28Speaker 1: losing his fucking mind and trying to make out with
- 15:32Speaker 1: her and probably would have flown off of the carpet
- 15:36Speaker 1: because of the nosebleed like hours earlier. You know, that's
- 15:42Speaker 1: just what would have happened, and I just have to
- 15:45Speaker 1: acknowledge it. I really do. I am completely willing to
- 15:50Speaker 1: set it aside for the sake of this story and
- 15:53Speaker 1: this interaction. I completely I am not mad about it
- 15:58Speaker 1: at all, but I have to point it out because
- 16:01Speaker 1: I am sure I am not the only person going wow,
- 16:05Speaker 1: all of a sudden, very mature and concerned about consent. Sanji,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I doubt it, Sanji, the guy whose dream was to
- 16:14Speaker 1: find the fruit that made him invisible so we could
- 16:17Speaker 1: spy on girls in the shower. No no, no, no,
- 16:20Speaker 1: that's not doesn't add up. But it's fine. It's fine
- 16:26Speaker 1: because if we don't have this version of Sanji, then
- 16:30Speaker 1: we don't get the weirdo pudding that we get. And
- 16:33Speaker 1: I really really like her, you know, like I just
- 16:36Speaker 1: it's fun. It's a great little weird story. So oh sorry,
- 16:43Speaker 1: Florian is saying Big Mom is after Chiffon and the
- 16:49Speaker 1: cac oh the cake and they split up the cac I.
- 16:56Speaker 1: It's it's a translation thing, but that is very funny.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Smoothie is behind the straw hats. I think that's uh,
- 17:06Speaker 1: And that's right. I keep forgetting about Smoothie because that's
- 17:08Speaker 1: just scary. Florian says they are my OTP. I think
- 17:12Speaker 1: that's how you say it, and it is indeed one
- 17:15Speaker 1: true pairing. And yeah, I really really like if they
- 17:21Speaker 1: break up, I'll be so sad. I'll just say it
- 17:23Speaker 1: right now, guys, it'll be you'll hear about it for
- 17:26Speaker 1: like more more time than you want to hear it.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I'll just warn you right now if and when I'm
- 17:33Speaker 1: going to be vocal about my displeasure. So just like
- 17:39Speaker 1: fucking gurder Loins. All right, So all that said, uh,
- 17:46Speaker 1: let's jump back. There's there's one very short scene with
- 17:51Speaker 1: Beggi and all of his pirates and Chiffon and his
- 17:57Speaker 1: guys are starting to be like, maybe we should get
- 17:59Speaker 1: the fuck out, hear boss, And it's a very fun
- 18:03Speaker 1: moment of him being like, are you guys fucking serious?
- 18:08Speaker 1: Absolutely not. We are here together as a family, and
- 18:12Speaker 1: if we go down, we're going down as a fucking family.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And his guys do not protest at all. It's the
- 18:21Speaker 1: fact that they are being included as like his people,
- 18:25Speaker 1: and that overrides that they're being sent to their deaths essentially,
- 18:30Speaker 1: and they all just start crying and like hugging, and
- 18:34Speaker 1: I just really enjoy the Beggie Pirates, and it's so
- 18:38Speaker 1: I'm so refreshed by it because I remember when Beggie
- 18:40Speaker 1: first showed up, being like, so, okay, so we've got
- 18:44Speaker 1: a mafia guy, ho hum, and just feeling like this
- 18:48Speaker 1: is almost so obvious as to be annoying as a bit,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And I am really really
- 19:00Speaker 1: pleased at how much things have developed and how he
- 19:05Speaker 1: has become somebody that is like genuinely fun to see
- 19:09Speaker 1: on screen. That the people around him, including Chiffon, have
- 19:14Speaker 1: something to do and they're distinct in their personalities and
- 19:17Speaker 1: there's like an objective here that I can really get behind,
- 19:21Speaker 1: and a sense of like everybody being unified and looking
- 19:27Speaker 1: out for one another in a way that's actually cute
- 19:30Speaker 1: and touching, rather than it feeling like a weird brainwashing thing,
- 19:36Speaker 1: which is how it can feel. With some of the pirates.
- 19:38Speaker 1: It's sort of like, you know, they're willing to do
- 19:41Speaker 1: absolutely anything for their captain, even though their captain could
- 19:43Speaker 1: give a fuck about them, and so it's nice to
- 19:46Speaker 1: have these moments of them being like a real team
- 19:51Speaker 1: and genuinely like concerned about one another and stuff. It's
- 19:55Speaker 1: just I wasn't expecting him to be a as delightful
- 20:01Speaker 1: as he has turned out to be, and I respect
- 20:06Speaker 1: it and I have been enjoying it. So we're now
- 20:09Speaker 1: in a place where like something happens to them, and
- 20:11Speaker 1: I'll be genuinely sad about it. But uh, I don't
- 20:15Speaker 1: know what could happen to them, because like, people don't
- 20:17Speaker 1: die in this show. But you know, I think they'll
- 20:19Speaker 1: be fine. We'll see Ooh sorry, Florian says, what do
- 20:27Speaker 1: you think happened between them in the alley putting in Sanjia?
- 20:34Speaker 1: I mean, unless you want to return to them later
- 20:37Speaker 1: in the Oh right, I forgot about this. Oh my god,
- 20:41Speaker 1: I completely breathed right past this. You know what, let's
- 20:44Speaker 1: return to that. At the end, Florian is saying, Begie
- 20:49Speaker 1: really turned out to be likable, and yeah, it's really
- 20:53Speaker 1: I still guys. I mentioned this to h Marshall as well.
- 20:57Speaker 1: The fact that he has an infant child that has
- 21:00Speaker 1: a pacifier that looks like a cigar is still so
- 21:05Speaker 1: funny to me. It's like a the It's like this
- 21:16Speaker 1: child is like an accessory that I don't want to
- 21:19Speaker 1: grow up because it's just such a funny. Like if
- 21:22Speaker 1: we come across Begi twenty years from now, I still
- 21:26Speaker 1: want this child to be a baby, because it's like,
- 21:33Speaker 1: it feels like the baby would be an accessory that
- 21:37Speaker 1: Beggie's figure would come with in Lego if you were
- 21:41Speaker 1: to have like the Lego one piece from the original.
- 21:44Speaker 1: They have Lego one Piece now for the live action
- 21:47Speaker 1: I guess, so, you know, let's see, I'm trying to
- 21:54Speaker 1: find another ugh, I'm trying to find a good place
- 21:59Speaker 1: to like jump in because the fight with Lufy and
- 22:04Speaker 1: Kategori is sort of weirdly paced and scattered, and so
- 22:11Speaker 1: there's a part of me that doesn't want to start
- 22:15Speaker 1: at the beginning with them. I feel like there's a
- 22:21Speaker 1: what I want to talk about really is snake Man,
- 22:25Speaker 1: because I had like a bit of a specific expectation
- 22:31Speaker 1: and then it wasn't what I got snake Man. You know,
- 22:34Speaker 1: he announces it as this new fourth gear thing at
- 22:38Speaker 1: the end of episode at the end of episode eight
- 22:42Speaker 1: sixty nine, Nice, the first of the three episodes, and
- 22:48Speaker 1: we cut start the next episode and then we sort
- 22:53Speaker 1: of you know, fall into the flashback because we do
- 22:58Speaker 1: a lot of him and Raly these flashbacks, like us
- 23:02Speaker 1: seeing where Lufy got this ability from which, as we
- 23:09Speaker 1: all know, I much much prefer this to what happened
- 23:14Speaker 1: when we first get like Gear two and year three,
- 23:17Speaker 1: which is to say, he just pulls this shit out
- 23:21Speaker 1: of absolutely nowhere. There's no context for how he learned it,
- 23:26Speaker 1: where it came from, fucking nothing, and it is jarring
- 23:32Speaker 1: and bizarre to me. I remember the first time watching
- 23:35Speaker 1: it just being like, wait, hold on, there's no hint
- 23:40Speaker 1: that we're heading in a direction that he is going
- 23:42Speaker 1: to have powers like this, and then suddenly boom, you know.
- 23:48Speaker 1: So I would much prefer having these little bounces back
- 23:53Speaker 1: into the past and getting to see these moments. That said,
- 23:59Speaker 1: I don't think the flashbacks are that compelling. I wish
- 24:06Speaker 1: it didn't seem like we're hitting the brake so much.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I think that part of it is because I'm getting
- 24:11Speaker 1: impatient with the fight with Category. When we jump to
- 24:15Speaker 1: these flashbacks and they're very kind of slow, and Categori's fight,
- 24:22Speaker 1: it's like, what it feels like is things are moving
- 24:26Speaker 1: at a faster pace than real life because it's being
- 24:29Speaker 1: edited together, so to speak, in such a way like
- 24:32Speaker 1: the action is really high speed. And then we drop
- 24:38Speaker 1: into a flashback where everything is a sort of like
- 24:42Speaker 1: slice of life, chill, like we've got all the time
- 24:47Speaker 1: in the world kind of speed, and what I'm already
- 24:51Speaker 1: feeling like, can we please just get this going? Jumping
- 24:55Speaker 1: back and pacing slowing like that. I I'm like, are
- 25:01Speaker 1: you really now? You know? So? I feel sort of
- 25:07Speaker 1: like I may come across as you said you wanted
- 25:11Speaker 1: to see, and now you're complaining about getting to see,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and I recognize it, but it's just it's I don't
- 25:16Speaker 1: think it's being done effectively. I feel like we could
- 25:19Speaker 1: have these flashbacks and either have them edited in a
- 25:23Speaker 1: different way so that the pacing is faster, or we
- 25:26Speaker 1: could have more be happening in them and less of
- 25:30Speaker 1: just sort of, oh, louviy tries the thing a bunch
- 25:34Speaker 1: of times and fails and gets hit and then suddenly
- 25:37Speaker 1: manages to do the thing. Well, yeah, of course that's
- 25:40Speaker 1: how it's gonna go. We've seen that happen and like
- 25:42Speaker 1: a bunch of times already in this fight with these
- 25:46Speaker 1: flashbacks specifically, so there's a sense of the uh, the
- 25:57Speaker 1: I don't know, you guys get what I'm saying. I
- 26:00Speaker 1: just don't want to I don't wanna I get sometimes
- 26:05Speaker 1: very aware of you said you wanted such and such
- 26:09Speaker 1: and you got it, and you're still not happy, and
- 26:13Speaker 1: you know there's truth to that, but also well I
- 26:15Speaker 1: got it, but like it wasn't it wasn't done well.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I feel like there's I feel like you could have
- 26:21Speaker 1: made this work even better. So it's a step in
- 26:24Speaker 1: the right direction getting to see how he's developed these
- 26:27Speaker 1: skills at all, because them coming out of nowhere was
- 26:31Speaker 1: truly a weird choice that I don't understand. But in
- 26:37Speaker 1: the midst of everything and how slow it is, I
- 26:40Speaker 1: just think it was kind of a mistake to have
- 26:42Speaker 1: it shake out this way. Florian says, I love the
- 26:48Speaker 1: kind of sailor moon transformation we get for snake Man,
- 26:52Speaker 1: and this is the thing. Okay, So going back to
- 26:55Speaker 1: snake Man, I really thought that it was going to
- 27:01Speaker 1: be more of like a full on I'm going to
- 27:05Speaker 1: become like a snake myself, like my body is going
- 27:11Speaker 1: to elongate with my head at the end, like I
- 27:16Speaker 1: am rubber and I am formless and my you know
- 27:21Speaker 1: what I mean. What it turns out to be is
- 27:29Speaker 1: more that his arms stretch very far and sort of
- 27:34Speaker 1: circle around. So the principle behind this is that what
- 27:42Speaker 1: the setting aside actual physics and the way that this
- 27:46Speaker 1: would work, what it's supposed to be is that Lufy's
- 27:50Speaker 1: arms when they extend and his fist bounces from one
- 27:54Speaker 1: surface to another, it gains speed. The volney increase means
- 28:01Speaker 1: that the punch will land harder because it has had
- 28:06Speaker 1: all of this time to just build up momentum. And
- 28:10Speaker 1: then the punch will come from a direction that you're
- 28:14Speaker 1: not expecting because it's sort of ricocheting off of all
- 28:19Speaker 1: of these unexpected surfaces in the manner of like a
- 28:24Speaker 1: ping pong machine, you know, not a ping pong what
- 28:27Speaker 1: do you call it? Pinball? So it's saying snake man,
- 28:37Speaker 1: it just evokes is a very specific look, and then
- 28:40Speaker 1: it's this and that just doesn't feel like the name
- 28:43Speaker 1: goes with it. So I just thought it was going
- 28:45Speaker 1: to be a really different thing. And as he is
- 28:48Speaker 1: beginning to do the long arms, I'm sort of like,
- 28:52Speaker 1: hold on, wait, I thought, And then for a moment
- 28:57Speaker 1: I'm thinking, maybe I misheard him, And no, it's just
- 29:01Speaker 1: that the interpretation of snake for him is the arms,
- 29:07Speaker 1: which is just it's not quite. It's just not quite.
- 29:12Speaker 1: It's just not quite for me. I was I wasn't
- 29:16Speaker 1: taken with this one. I think bounce Man perfectly fine name.
- 29:22Speaker 1: It's like a it's a silly name. It's not intimidating,
- 29:26Speaker 1: but like the weirdness of the power itself doesn't really
- 29:29Speaker 1: look intimidating either, other than kind of the heavy eye
- 29:31Speaker 1: makeup around Lufy's eyes. So it's I feel kind of
- 29:36Speaker 1: weirdly proportional to the ability itself. And it makes sense
- 29:42Speaker 1: because the entire man is bouncing, so bounce man, yes,
- 29:47Speaker 1: But when you say snake man, I'm thinking entire man
- 29:50Speaker 1: is snake. So when it's just his arms, especially in
- 29:54Speaker 1: light of the fact that Lufy stretches his arms constantly
- 29:58Speaker 1: all the time anyway for a lot of other moves,
- 30:01Speaker 1: it doesn't feel particularly new or exciting. It's like a
- 30:05Speaker 1: new utilization of that ability, But even so it still
- 30:09Speaker 1: kind of feels familiar, like it doesn't feel to me
- 30:13Speaker 1: like we're seeing something that's new. So and then what
- 30:19Speaker 1: happens is like, at first he does manage to land
- 30:22Speaker 1: a couple of hits on Category, and Category is like,
- 30:25Speaker 1: what the fuck? Why is the hit coming from the side.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I'm thinking it's gonna come from this direction and then
- 30:30Speaker 1: he keeps getting me and I'm feeling like, oh nice,
- 30:34Speaker 1: so this ability is actually like proving effective. And then
- 30:39Speaker 1: it's really not long before Category slows it all down
- 30:43Speaker 1: mentally and is like watching how it happens and is
- 30:47Speaker 1: able to piece it together and fight back against it
- 30:51Speaker 1: and like lay Loofy out like a fucking it's it's
- 31:00Speaker 1: embarrassing to watch the way that he absolutely spanks Loofy down.
- 31:08Speaker 1: He kicks him at one point, guys, and like, I'm
- 31:13Speaker 1: I'm almost positive it's not the first time that Category
- 31:17Speaker 1: has like kicked Loofy in this fight, but I feel
- 31:21Speaker 1: as if the kicks have mostly been a much more
- 31:24Speaker 1: like waist level action, heavy, you're coming at me kind
- 31:29Speaker 1: of kick. And this kick, Loufy's like down and still
- 31:33Speaker 1: on the ground and Category kicks him, and it just
- 31:36Speaker 1: felt really like demeaning and shitty, and I was like,
- 31:41Speaker 1: what I thought, I thought snake Ban was just gonna
- 31:45Speaker 1: hold up a little bit more that it would, you know,
- 31:50Speaker 1: be more of a challenge to Category. It only is
- 31:52Speaker 1: for a second. The difference here is that he can
- 31:58Speaker 1: make like a ninety degree turns mid air and also
- 32:01Speaker 1: the speed, and like I get that, but it just doesn't.
- 32:07Speaker 1: It just doesn't feel that exciting to me. I'm sorry,
- 32:10Speaker 1: I just gotta calls him like I see them, especially,
- 32:13Speaker 1: you know, considering the name and what I mentally was
- 32:17Speaker 1: sort of picturing. I really thought we were getting a
- 32:20Speaker 1: specific type of thing. So that's part of the problem
- 32:22Speaker 1: as well, is that the name evokes something and uh
- 32:27Speaker 1: it doesn't quite live up to that. But it's fine.
- 32:30Speaker 1: It really isn't that big a deal because, like I said,
- 32:33Speaker 1: this fight, it looks like we're wrapping it up. So
- 32:37Speaker 1: he uh takes Loofy down and like literally there comes
- 32:41Speaker 1: a point he's got, you know, his mochi thing that
- 32:43Speaker 1: he does, which makes him very sticky, and so there
- 32:47Speaker 1: comes a point where he's got Loofy on the end
- 32:50Speaker 1: of this like it's like a flail I guess that
- 32:53Speaker 1: he kind of makes out of the mochi and Loofy
- 32:58Speaker 1: is literally stuck to it and can't get off, which
- 33:04Speaker 1: it's just very undignified. I felt for Loufy in this
- 33:08Speaker 1: moment after he has just unveiled this new you know,
- 33:13Speaker 1: ability that it was only effective for as short a
- 33:18Speaker 1: time as it was, and then to basically get caught
- 33:21Speaker 1: in like what amounts to a glue trap and get
- 33:24Speaker 1: swung around the room, and he has swung so much
- 33:26Speaker 1: that he starts to get actually dizzy. This is just
- 33:31Speaker 1: kind of embarrassing, And so he gets slammed to the
- 33:35Speaker 1: floor so hard that it forms a crater and he's
- 33:40Speaker 1: like at the bottom of it, and Category is just
- 33:42Speaker 1: up at the top, literally like screaming down at him,
- 33:46Speaker 1: being like you can hear me, I know you can
- 33:48Speaker 1: hear me, And I was just like, what is this is?
- 33:52Speaker 1: So I really thought that when Lufy like busted something
- 33:57Speaker 1: out that it was going to be just a bit
- 34:02Speaker 1: more for him to deal with than it turns out
- 34:04Speaker 1: to be. So I'm trying to think exactly because like Louvi,
- 34:14Speaker 1: of course pulls himself out of this friggin' crater and
- 34:20Speaker 1: what winds up being the kind of this reminded me
- 34:24Speaker 1: of a meme that I saw a little while ago
- 34:28Speaker 1: that was sort of joking about how like, there are
- 34:31Speaker 1: plenty of animals that can run faster than humans, but
- 34:34Speaker 1: the thing about humans is that we have a type
- 34:37Speaker 1: of stamina that a lot of animals do not, So like, yeah,
- 34:43Speaker 1: maybe your running speed is fifty two miles an hour,
- 34:47Speaker 1: which is hugely impressive, but you can only sustain that
- 34:51Speaker 1: for like twenty minutes and then you have to stop
- 34:53Speaker 1: and sleep for seven hours straight. And my jogging speed
- 34:59Speaker 1: maybe my slower than that, but you know, if I'm
- 35:03Speaker 1: living in a different time, my I can jog for
- 35:06Speaker 1: that like at that speed for a sustained distance and
- 35:12Speaker 1: thus wear you down. Even though you are faster, you
- 35:17Speaker 1: can't get away because you have to rest and I
- 35:20Speaker 1: don't or I don't as soon as you do. And
- 35:25Speaker 1: that's sort of what winds up happening here, is like
- 35:30Speaker 1: it's just the fact that Lufi has this resilience and
- 35:35Speaker 1: this stamina and his unwillingness to like actually say I'm
- 35:42Speaker 1: beaten and let it be over. He pushes category to
- 35:47Speaker 1: keep fighting and keep fighting in a way that Katekori
- 35:51Speaker 1: is like constantly going, why won't you just say that
- 35:56Speaker 1: you lost and give up? You have to see that
- 36:01Speaker 1: I am better than you at this, And what Lufy's
- 36:06Speaker 1: response basically is is like, I mean, you might be better,
- 36:11Speaker 1: but I'm sure being better is costing you. And if
- 36:17Speaker 1: this is the only way that I can rob you
- 36:20Speaker 1: of your strength, then this is how I'm going to
- 36:22Speaker 1: do it. So there comes a point where kind of
- 36:27Speaker 1: Cory is like standing there going, yeah, see, I told
- 36:33Speaker 1: you I would never give up or something like that,
- 36:36Speaker 1: or like that I couldn't be beaten. And then this
- 36:39Speaker 1: motherfucker just literally falls over. And it's actually hilarious. He
- 36:45Speaker 1: really like it's it's I'm not even laughing at him,
- 36:52Speaker 1: you know, because he put up a good fight. He
- 36:55Speaker 1: was right about the things that he was saying. He
- 36:58Speaker 1: is genuinely at a higher level than Loofy, and he
- 37:04Speaker 1: wouldn't take the underhanded tactics of like his weird little
- 37:08Speaker 1: sister helping him from the sidelines and stuff like. He
- 37:11Speaker 1: is an honorable fighter and came at this fully with
- 37:17Speaker 1: like an open mind and a an interest and curiosity
- 37:26Speaker 1: I'll say about Loofy to find out, like what are
- 37:29Speaker 1: you actually capable of? You know, which is all of
- 37:34Speaker 1: that as an approach is something I respect. So him
- 37:40Speaker 1: going down at the end of this, it's more like
- 37:44Speaker 1: I could see myself in that moment. The desire to
- 37:50Speaker 1: like prove that I can't be beaten kind of outweighing
- 37:56Speaker 1: the rational acknowledgment of the fact that like, okay, technically
- 38:01Speaker 1: he didn't beat you, but didn't he though, you know,
- 38:06Speaker 1: like that sort of ego being tied up in the
- 38:10Speaker 1: outcome in a technical sense versus the actual outcome and
- 38:16Speaker 1: what it like manifestly means I definitely could get caught
- 38:22Speaker 1: in that trap. So I understand it, I really really do.
- 38:30Speaker 1: So that is like where we leave it with the
- 38:34Speaker 1: two of them. A lot of the rest of these
- 38:38Speaker 1: three episodes deals with us jumping between all of the
- 38:42Speaker 1: different big Mom pirates like all of her kids. We
- 38:46Speaker 1: meet somebody knew I think named Snack, which, uh, honestly,
- 38:53Speaker 1: I'm surprised we haven't come across that name yet. Who
- 38:57Speaker 1: is like a commander or something. I'm pretty sure that
- 38:59Speaker 1: we have seen Snack before. And there, you know, it's
- 39:04Speaker 1: just a bunch of these different commanders on ships that
- 39:08Speaker 1: are all approaching this area because they have been summoned,
- 39:12Speaker 1: and they are having very different reactions to what's going on.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Like there's one guy who is saying, oh, there's only
- 39:20Speaker 1: gonna be like eight pirates showing up. I'm going to
- 39:23Speaker 1: take a nap. You guys let me know when something
- 39:26Speaker 1: actually happens, and he is very much like underestimating them. Yes,
- 39:32Speaker 1: but also I get the sense that this is just
- 39:34Speaker 1: like a lazy character who just doesn't want to be bothered.
- 39:37Speaker 1: It's it's the sort of the viobe I'm getting is
- 39:41Speaker 1: just I would find any excuse to take a nap anyway,
- 39:45Speaker 1: And so this is a perfect you know, Oh, there's
- 39:47Speaker 1: only eight of them, and I'm not worried there is
- 39:52Speaker 1: fucking Oven who Oven has a bunch of these Like
- 39:58Speaker 1: I hesitate to use the word matching, but I feel
- 40:02Speaker 1: like that's the best way to say it. These characters
- 40:04Speaker 1: that are all dressed the same, but they're a lot
- 40:08Speaker 1: of varying different sizes, and they all are behaving like
- 40:14Speaker 1: children of various ages. And one of the taller ones,
- 40:19Speaker 1: who's a girl, is like saying how this is like
- 40:21Speaker 1: a festival and how she can't wait to party. Which,
- 40:26Speaker 1: if there is a character that would be receptive to
- 40:32Speaker 1: this behavior, I can't think of anybody who would be
- 40:37Speaker 1: less receptive than Oven. This guy has such a fucking
- 40:40Speaker 1: stick up his ass about everything, and when he yells
- 40:44Speaker 1: at her, I was just like, honestly, girl, I'm not
- 40:46Speaker 1: even like you brought this on yourself, acting like, oh,
- 40:49Speaker 1: let's party in front of Oven? Really, are you like
- 40:54Speaker 1: you're just asking to get slapped. I don't know what
- 40:56Speaker 1: to tell you. Marian says, uh, oh, right, I did
- 41:03Speaker 1: forget about this. Florian says, well, lufy'syster really would depend
- 41:06Speaker 1: on the personality of his opponent if they had foresight
- 41:09Speaker 1: in how to defeat them. And he was kind of right.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Category enjoyed his fight, and I think could have taken
- 41:15Speaker 1: down Lufy. Maybe, just maybe I forgot about that whole.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Thank you Florian for bringing that up because I was
- 41:20Speaker 1: complaining about the flashbacks. But there is this one bit
- 41:23Speaker 1: which I thought was so interesting where it really is
- 41:28Speaker 1: trying to get Flory to use his observation hockey. Did
- 41:33Speaker 1: I say that he's trying to get Florian really is
- 41:36Speaker 1: trying to get Loofy? Wow, your girl is not okay.
- 41:41Speaker 1: He is trying to get Loofy to use his observation
- 41:44Speaker 1: hockey and it's not working. At one point, Lufy's like
- 41:50Speaker 1: literally collapsed on the forest floor because he's told that
- 41:53Speaker 1: he won't get dinner until he figures this out, and
- 41:56Speaker 1: the animals are offering him food and he's like, hey,
- 41:59Speaker 1: thanks eyes, but I can't take it because what he
- 42:03Speaker 1: says goes But uh, he finally does manage to block
- 42:09Speaker 1: and really asks him like how did you do it?
- 42:13Speaker 1: And he says, I didn't know where you were, but
- 42:16Speaker 1: it was like I could see your smile, which is
- 42:20Speaker 1: so interesting. It's like Lufy manages to get a glimpse
- 42:23Speaker 1: of like all the sense I'm getting is like his spirit,
- 42:28Speaker 1: you know, like the essence of who Raley is somehow
- 42:32Speaker 1: he could feel. So he does that for like a
- 42:38Speaker 1: second with Kategori, but it does He's not able to sustain.
- 42:44Speaker 1: It is the thing, you know, he is not in
- 42:46Speaker 1: practice yet, but potentially we could be headed there, you know.
- 42:53Speaker 1: And Florian being like Category enjoyed this fight, and I
- 42:58Speaker 1: think he could have taken down Lufy. I kind of
- 43:01Speaker 1: wonder that myself, Like it's I'm not mean saying this,
- 43:04Speaker 1: like and I don't think Florian is either, as if
- 43:06Speaker 1: to say that Kategory didn't give it as all, but
- 43:10Speaker 1: that Kategory refused to exploit certain advantages because it felt
- 43:16Speaker 1: unfair in a way that would have, you know, it
- 43:20Speaker 1: would have ended things too soon, and he wanted to
- 43:22Speaker 1: see more of what Lufy could do. And it was
- 43:25Speaker 1: truly just about like pushing his opponent and observing him,
- 43:30Speaker 1: which makes sense because his whole thing is observation. So yeah,
- 43:36Speaker 1: but yeah, I am, like I said this, I was
- 43:39Speaker 1: getting impatient with this fight, but if it truly is
- 43:43Speaker 1: over at this point, I feel like that was just right,
- 43:46Speaker 1: that's fine. So the thing that I hadn't I I
- 43:55Speaker 1: was talking about were just like all of Big Mom's
- 43:58Speaker 1: kids and the way that things kind of montage with them.
- 44:03Speaker 1: And the one thing that I did think was funny
- 44:07Speaker 1: was mont d'Or is talking to that weird little like
- 44:12Speaker 1: bird guy who's apparently a journalist of some kind and
- 44:16Speaker 1: he's the journalist is saying something about how like, wouldn't
- 44:21Speaker 1: it be interesting if like the front page is how
- 44:23Speaker 1: Big Mom got fucking poned something like that, and Mont
- 44:28Speaker 1: d'Or is like, actually, the front page is gonna be
- 44:32Speaker 1: the decapitated heads of all the straw hats. And I
- 44:40Speaker 1: think it's his sister who's just like, Okay, that's just
- 44:44Speaker 1: not called for, there's no need for that, and he
- 44:48Speaker 1: just basically says sorry, not sorry. Big News Morgan's says Florian,
- 44:56Speaker 1: Oh my god, these things barely sound like names at
- 45:01Speaker 1: this point. So yeah, this whole like uh, checking in
- 45:10Speaker 1: with all of her kids thing. Honestly, I have had
- 45:15Speaker 1: a bad reaction to these sorts of montages before because
- 45:19Speaker 1: it's a lot of like characters that I haven't become
- 45:21Speaker 1: particularly attached to and will also still be adding people.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Like I said, I feel like snack is new, but
- 45:29Speaker 1: I just don't feel as annoyed by it with this
- 45:34Speaker 1: arc as I have before, And I'm not really sure why.
- 45:38Speaker 1: I don't know if it's because maybe there comes a
- 45:41Speaker 1: point when an arc feels like it's dragging that I
- 45:43Speaker 1: get become like I treat it like the bitch eating crackers,
- 45:47Speaker 1: where anything that he starts to throw at me and
- 45:50Speaker 1: I get annoyed by because I'm just like, oh my god,
- 45:52Speaker 1: really another thing. Can we please focus on what we're
- 45:55Speaker 1: already doing and taking too long about. But because things
- 46:00Speaker 1: have felt pretty cohesive, adding some other players into it
- 46:06Speaker 1: doesn't bother me at this point. And I do find
- 46:10Speaker 1: all of the different like abilities and stuff and the
- 46:14Speaker 1: relationship of all these siblings to one another to be
- 46:17Speaker 1: kind of interesting. And you know, it's like, sometimes it
- 46:25Speaker 1: will feel like we're jumping over to these side things,
- 46:28Speaker 1: which is almost wrote because we have to split the
- 46:33Speaker 1: straw hats up in a certain way, and each of
- 46:36Speaker 1: them has to face off with a certain foe according
- 46:40Speaker 1: to whatever their particular ability is, and that they just
- 46:44Speaker 1: are perfectly matched against each other, and it will feel
- 46:49Speaker 1: so formulaic as to kind of be like just an
- 46:53Speaker 1: exercise that we have to get through. And this arc,
- 46:58Speaker 1: because the straw has are almost all contained on the sunny,
- 47:04Speaker 1: there is something slightly more interesting about the montage between
- 47:08Speaker 1: all of these different children that she has not involving
- 47:13Speaker 1: the straw hats almost at all. It's all their own shit,
- 47:18Speaker 1: And I don't you would think that would be a
- 47:21Speaker 1: point against it. I would anyway, you know. But I
- 47:26Speaker 1: find this bizarre dynamic that she's got going on where
- 47:31Speaker 1: she just like decides to have tons and tons of
- 47:34Speaker 1: kids that all have different abilities and all work for
- 47:37Speaker 1: her just kind of mesmerizing. And so every time that
- 47:42Speaker 1: we tune back in with them and I get to
- 47:44Speaker 1: see another kid that is like devoted to her for
- 47:48Speaker 1: reasons that I still don't really understand, it's it's I
- 47:53Speaker 1: find it really interesting. There's just I think maybe that's
- 47:58Speaker 1: like the key fact is their relationship to Big Mom
- 48:03Speaker 1: is inherently more interesting than a lot of the bosses
- 48:07Speaker 1: with their goons, If you know, what I mean if
- 48:10Speaker 1: you get that, Florian says, we also have a branch thing.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, trust me, I was getting there because branch
- 48:17Speaker 1: branch is does she call? Is she a child or
- 48:22Speaker 1: is she a sister? She's a child. It's a big
- 48:25Speaker 1: mom too, right. It's just the way she's illustrated makes
- 48:29Speaker 1: her kind of look older, So she looks like she's
- 48:32Speaker 1: around the same age as big Mom. So I think
- 48:35Speaker 1: that's what kind of mentally confuses me a little bit.
- 48:37Speaker 1: But uh, she manages to get herself free because she's
- 48:42Speaker 1: like tied up inside the mirror world. And what she
- 48:47Speaker 1: tells herself as she's running off is I don't need
- 48:53Speaker 1: to worry about Category. He is absolutely going to be
- 48:56Speaker 1: straw hat, so there is no need for me to
- 48:59Speaker 1: stick around, which her thinking there actually makes sense. And
- 49:04Speaker 1: she decides to jump out and is like this will
- 49:07Speaker 1: be perfect actually because as long as I'm out, he
- 49:11Speaker 1: can't use my powers, and so Loofy will be stuck
- 49:14Speaker 1: in here and Category will be stuck too, but I'll
- 49:18Speaker 1: eventually come and let him out. Loofy will just be
- 49:21Speaker 1: like a sitting duck, you know. And it's like it's
- 49:28Speaker 1: like maybe the first time that we see Branch do
- 49:33Speaker 1: anything correctly. I don't want to I don't want to
- 49:40Speaker 1: overstate things, but like Branch is not super competent. I
- 49:49Speaker 1: feel bad for her in a way because it's it's
- 49:52Speaker 1: not even exactly her fault. It's simply the way that
- 49:55Speaker 1: her power works that makes her a kind of target
- 49:59Speaker 1: in a way that won't happen with other people. So
- 50:03Speaker 1: she's just in a unique position to get kidnapped and
- 50:07Speaker 1: exploited in a certain way because that's how her power operates,
- 50:13Speaker 1: and it's just not really fair. It sucks for her. So,
- 50:18Speaker 1: you know, I'm tempted to just be like Branch, you're
- 50:22Speaker 1: a train wreck, and she is, but like some of
- 50:26Speaker 1: that isn't explicitly her fault. I don't know. I find
- 50:31Speaker 1: myself weirdly liking her in a way that I can't
- 50:36Speaker 1: even articulate. Maybe it's just because she seems like such
- 50:40Speaker 1: a loser. It's just I have like some sympathy for her.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Florian says, she's the eighth daughter and nineteenth overall. Okay, okay,
- 50:55Speaker 1: how many kids total does big mom have? Florian? Is that?
- 50:59Speaker 1: Inform me at your fingertips? I'm curious about it. I
- 51:04Speaker 1: feel like, we got a number early in the arc,
- 51:07Speaker 1: but I don't remember it, but I'm pretty sure somebody mentioned,
- 51:10Speaker 1: if not an exact number, an estimate. But yeah, so
- 51:17Speaker 1: she takes off and considering the fact that here's the
- 51:24Speaker 1: thing I said earlier, she has eighty five kids. Okay,
- 51:28Speaker 1: thank you, Florian, considering the fact that everybody is waiting
- 51:32Speaker 1: to ambush Loofy on Cacao Island by means of him
- 51:39Speaker 1: coming through the only available mirror that he can I
- 51:46Speaker 1: was just saying that Branch did a smart thing, and
- 51:50Speaker 1: now I'm sort of like, did she did she fuck up? Again?
- 51:55Speaker 1: Like the idea of trapping him in theory is a
- 52:00Speaker 1: really smart idea. But if everybody is waiting for Lufy
- 52:03Speaker 1: and they're all positioned and then Branch is just like missing,
- 52:09Speaker 1: I don't know if she She has to have run
- 52:11Speaker 1: out that same mirror though, right it's the only one
- 52:14Speaker 1: that's left. So she came through where Lufy is supposed
- 52:21Speaker 1: to come through, so they know where she is, so
- 52:25Speaker 1: that can't be it. Maybe it is fine, Maybe she
- 52:27Speaker 1: did do something smart. I'm imagining her like being mi Ia,
- 52:34Speaker 1: and so their whole ambush kind of goes to shit
- 52:37Speaker 1: because Lufy can't come out, but I think that's not
- 52:41Speaker 1: how that could work because of the one mirror remaining
- 52:43Speaker 1: being her only escape. I am curious how Katekori would
- 52:52Speaker 1: feel about Lufy getting jumped, because you know, he has
- 52:58Speaker 1: his honor, but he also so because of that, has
- 53:01Speaker 1: his loyalty to his family, and ultimately, Loofy getting taken
- 53:06Speaker 1: down by everybody was like where we were heading and
- 53:09Speaker 1: CATEGORY knew that. So yeah, I don't think that he
- 53:11Speaker 1: would really be like standing up for Loofy in this
- 53:14Speaker 1: instance or anything. Florian says, we see at the end
- 53:19Speaker 1: what happens to her and Loufy, what we do? I
- 53:23Speaker 1: swear I watched this section twice. Guys, What the fuck?
- 53:26Speaker 1: What did I miss? I will I will jump back
- 53:29Speaker 1: because there was one thing that I had just forgot
- 53:31Speaker 1: that Florian brought up, which was, uh, that Soanji and
- 53:37Speaker 1: putting our like there's a really I say funny and
- 53:42Speaker 1: I hesitate to use that word really, but I guess
- 53:45Speaker 1: a funny bit where Sangi is just like reflecting on
- 53:49Speaker 1: him meeting Pudding and kind of going down memory lane.
- 53:53Speaker 1: But the way that he's going down memory lane is
- 53:56Speaker 1: like I am I'm looking back at what a goofball
- 54:02Speaker 1: you probably thought I was because I was walking into
- 54:05Speaker 1: a trap and had no idea and you just wanted
- 54:09Speaker 1: to kill me, and it was just a means to
- 54:11Speaker 1: an end. And isn't it funny that, like we were
- 54:13Speaker 1: at such odds with each other, and you know, we
- 54:18Speaker 1: know that Pudding has actually developed real feelings for him,
- 54:23Speaker 1: So him talking about this whole thing as if I
- 54:27Speaker 1: know that from the start and even now none of
- 54:31Speaker 1: this is real to you, and her being like, that's
- 54:37Speaker 1: not true, but I can't actually tell you that it's
- 54:41Speaker 1: not true. So she's just standing there looking wistful, and
- 54:48Speaker 1: then she says, okay, well, you know, if you're saying goodbye,
- 54:53Speaker 1: which is what he says, then we like should have
- 55:01Speaker 1: give me one last favor. I just have one thing
- 55:04Speaker 1: to ask of you. And she takes a cigarette out
- 55:07Speaker 1: of his mouth and she like comes up to him,
- 55:10Speaker 1: and of course it looks like she's going to kiss him,
- 55:14Speaker 1: And you know, guys, that's like what I want to happen.
- 55:16Speaker 1: That is what I want to happen. But I just
- 55:19Speaker 1: have a feeling that's not what it's gonna be. I
- 55:24Speaker 1: just have a feeling that's not what it's gonna be.
- 55:28Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like it's too good to
- 55:35Speaker 1: be true. I just I want so much and I don't.
- 55:41Speaker 1: I just in my gut think it's probably unlikely, if
- 55:47Speaker 1: if for no other reason than because like Sanjy's function
- 55:55Speaker 1: in the story is to be like the horn dog
- 55:58Speaker 1: that always gets caught up whenever there's a pretty woman around,
- 56:03Speaker 1: and if he's married, then he is precluded from doing that,
- 56:07Speaker 1: which like, isn't he even necessarily strictly speaking true? But
- 56:13Speaker 1: you know, ah god, I don't know. So anyway, Oh
- 56:23Speaker 1: my god, that's right. I'm watching the episode now because
- 56:27Speaker 1: you know, I always have it on the background while
- 56:28Speaker 1: I'm recording, and I forgot completely about Peckham's showing up Blessing,
- 56:39Speaker 1: and he has this friggin' look to him of a
- 56:45Speaker 1: what are they called the luchador? You know, but he
- 56:49Speaker 1: has caught Branch, oh Branch. I know that her name
- 56:54Speaker 1: is really Bruleet, but like, sorry, having just said like, oh,
- 56:58Speaker 1: maybe you did something smart and she got got again.
- 57:04Speaker 1: That is so embarrassing, girly, I'll say this for her too.
- 57:12Speaker 1: She's like trusted up and Peghams is just like holding
- 57:16Speaker 1: her with one arm, and the first thing she says
- 57:20Speaker 1: is like, Kate Cory, what has he done to you?
- 57:25Speaker 1: Which I do appreciate her like clocking what's going on
- 57:32Speaker 1: with her brother and rather than just like solely being
- 57:36Speaker 1: embarrassed at getting caught or like upset at her plans
- 57:41Speaker 1: being foiled, she's just like, ah, bro, what happened? And
- 57:49Speaker 1: I like that. I do. It's a she's sort of
- 57:54Speaker 1: I don't know, man, there is something about her whole
- 57:58Speaker 1: vibe that I just can't help but like like root
- 58:02Speaker 1: for her in a weird way. And you know, I
- 58:09Speaker 1: don't know. I said earlier about like whether or not
- 58:12Speaker 1: Katekori would side with Lufy over everybody waiting to jump him.
- 58:19Speaker 1: But he does say to Lufy, You're gonna come back
- 58:22Speaker 1: and beat Big Mom someday, right, So I don't know, though,
- 58:27Speaker 1: is he just doing this to like kind of weirdly
- 58:30Speaker 1: motivate him in a way that's like because he does
- 58:33Speaker 1: respect him, or is it that he actually wants Mom
- 58:39Speaker 1: to go down? Like does he dislike her? It's difficult
- 58:43Speaker 1: sometimes for me to sense how much her children actually
- 58:47Speaker 1: like her and how much of it is just like
- 58:49Speaker 1: they know that they owe her everything, and so they
- 58:51Speaker 1: have a duty to her. Kateakori has such a sense
- 58:55Speaker 1: of honor that I wouldn't be surprised if he's got
- 58:58Speaker 1: more of a problem with his muther than a lot
- 59:00Speaker 1: of them do, simply because she doesn't have that honor
- 59:07Speaker 1: the like from what we have seen, you know, it
- 59:12Speaker 1: is funny though, I'm just remembering what you said Florian
- 59:16Speaker 1: a while back about the too like the sun and
- 59:22Speaker 1: the cloud and how the cloud has this insatiable hunger
- 59:28Speaker 1: for the lightning balls, and how that's like, you know,
- 59:31Speaker 1: the cloud has a piece of Big Mom's spirit in him,
- 59:35Speaker 1: and so this craving makes sense as part of who
- 59:39Speaker 1: she is. And now I'm thinking about Kateakori and his uh,
- 59:46Speaker 1: you know, Marianda and like just mechanically tearing through a
- 59:53Speaker 1: pile of doughnuts. So he has this like deep hunger
- 59:58Speaker 1: in him as well. And I wonder how much this
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: is a thing for like all of her kids, if
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: we haven't really seen this with Pudding, But it is
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: sort of interesting to me that it happens with him,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: because he is very much a character that to look
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: at him, you wouldn't expect him to be somebody dealing
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: with that kind of impulse, you know, Florian says he
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: wants another fight with Lufy. I think, yeah, I think
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: you're right. So this bit with Peckham's showing up with Branch,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: he yells out something like, you know, I'm here to
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: help you with your escape. Pedro sacrificed his life to
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: save you and your crew, so you can't die now,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: not on my watch. Let's go straw Hat. And I'll
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: be honest, guys, there was a split second disrespectful. I
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: know it's me being a little bit racist because Peckham's
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: is also like a cat character, where I thought maybe
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Pedro was here, and then a moment later it didn't
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: take me long. I was like, oh, no, Peckham because
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: like you know, he has the sunglasses and the whole thing.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: He's very different looking. But there was a moment where
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: I thought, oh, did Pedro turn out to actually be alive?
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Like how did he get here? All of that was
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: not something I was even worried about yet. So the
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: episode ends with them like citing Cacao Island and heading
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: straight there, and Chopper is looking through his binoculars and
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: is like, that is a lot of ships and Nami
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: is in communication with Sanji and is saying, like, what
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: should we do, Like, how is it looking on the
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: shoreline here? And he says, well, I haven't even spotted Loofy,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: so don't come close to the shore because it's not
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: like you need to come and pick him up, because
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I don't even know where he is. I don't think
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: he's here, so don't actually come to shore. I'm going
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: to find him and bring him to the ship. And
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: that way maybe we could just sidestep this battle entirely
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: and we don't have to do this at all. And
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: then we have Oven, who is psyching everybody up and yelling,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: you know, are you guys ready to face down with
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: straw hat He'll be here in five minutes, And we
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: cut back and see fucking not Zeus. What's the other one?
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: The sun? But he is hovering over the sunny as
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: they come towards the shore, larger than ever because again
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Mom is like still riding on him. And the whole
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: like sense of everybody finally congregating and coming to the
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: same spot is actually like pretty legit exciting. It looks
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: like we're going to have I'm not sure what to
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: expect because Peckhams is saying, I'm gonna help you with
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: your escape, which leads me to believe Peckhams has another
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: mirror somewhere that Lufy isn't going to be restricted to
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: that one mirror and he won't come out from there.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: But uh, I don't know. I'm trying to think like
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: where Peckham's was the last time we saw him, and
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: if he could have like, Oh, the thing I keep
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: being reminded of are those people who didn't want to
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: destroy their mirror that was a keepsake or an heirloom
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: or something, and so they were told to throw it
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: in the sea because Lufy can't swim. But I don't know.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: That feels like it would be pretty true to manage.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: I guess if you've got some of those like sea
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: snails that are being manipulated by the mer woman and
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: got them to like grab Loofy and bring him to
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: the surface, it could work. I feel like I'm over
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: complicating things a little bit, but honestly, that's not really
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: out of line for what this show does. Sometimes it
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: can complicate things. I think that's like keeping with the
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: vibe of a lot of the plots. So yeah, I
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know, but uh, all right, I
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: have to wrap this up. Thank you guys again so
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: much for hanging out with me. Thank you Sulina for
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: commissioning this episode. Thank you to Florian for being in
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: the chat and reminding me of the things that I
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: forgot at the end of this episode. I don't know
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: why I've read like the jit guys. This is not
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: me playing and saying I watch it and I didn't.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: I did two times, but I am just sometimes like this,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: So I guess that's just that's just brains. But I
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: appreciate your patience and you're following along until next time
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: to the lou motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled Network podcast.
