- 1:44Speaker 1: You guys are congratulations first and foremost on being legends
- 1:49Speaker 1: and making history with the Radio Hall of Fame. Thank you,
- 1:52Speaker 1: thank you, and congratulations see you for all of the
- 1:56Speaker 1: important work that you've been doing. Thank you, Thank you.
- 2:00Speaker 1: How you hold it up during the pandemic. How was
- 2:02Speaker 1: that for you? You know what I gotta say, wildly
- 2:06Speaker 1: challenging off top, but it's been probably one of the
- 2:09Speaker 1: best years of my life. You know, I really deepened
- 2:13Speaker 1: my spiritual journey. I was already on this path and
- 2:16Speaker 1: I was, you know, kind of diligently doing the work,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and then this gave me opportunity to kind of deepen
- 2:22Speaker 1: some of that healing, to understand ways in which to
- 2:25Speaker 1: help other people heal. And you know, this time it
- 2:29Speaker 1: I feel like it's been challenging for quite a lot
- 2:31Speaker 1: of people because so many are meeting themselves for the
- 2:34Speaker 1: first time, you know, spending that much time with themselves
- 2:37Speaker 1: and being in their thoughts. But if you let it,
- 2:40Speaker 1: it can be so beautiful. You get to the root
- 2:42Speaker 1: of anything that was holding you back. You have the
- 2:45Speaker 1: chance to cultivate a really deep, beautiful internal relationship with self.
- 2:49Speaker 1: There's just a there's a lot of opportunity to it. Well,
- 2:52Speaker 1: let's talk about your journey and how this became your calling. Yes, Well,
- 3:01Speaker 1: y'all know, I started a radio born and raised in
- 3:04Speaker 1: l A. You know. I the thing that led me
- 3:07Speaker 1: to radio was I was so deeply curious about storytelling,
- 3:11Speaker 1: curious about myself, curious about the world. Like radio is
- 3:14Speaker 1: one of the most sacred, in my opinion, art forms,
- 3:17Speaker 1: like you get to share space in someone's mind. And
- 3:20Speaker 1: I loved it for so long. But then when I
- 3:23Speaker 1: started my journey, I just found that I was really
- 3:26Speaker 1: called to study metaphysics, I was really called to study trauma.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And I kind of just found myself not easily being
- 3:33Speaker 1: able to stay up on current events or you know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: really wanting to just talk about some other things. And
- 3:39Speaker 1: so I pivoted and I went into the self care, wellness,
- 3:42Speaker 1: mindfulness world, which I did it kind of before the
- 3:46Speaker 1: big bang hit on social media of wellness, and so
- 3:50Speaker 1: it was very uncharted territory. I didn't know if I
- 3:52Speaker 1: made the right choice for a long time, but I
- 3:55Speaker 1: stuck with it and I felt, you know, I just
- 3:57Speaker 1: feel like my calling is to help people heal. You know,
- 4:00Speaker 1: we we throw these terms around there. We say, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 1: mental health, we say mindfulness, we say wellness, we say healing.
- 4:07Speaker 1: What what is all of that to you? In particular mindfulness?
- 4:10Speaker 1: What is that to you? So mindfulness is it's really
- 4:13Speaker 1: rooted in a slowing down um kind of you know,
- 4:16Speaker 1: the very simplified term would be to be mindful, to
- 4:19Speaker 1: have things kind of top of mind, to have a
- 4:21Speaker 1: seed of intention that's been planted, and that's the way
- 4:23Speaker 1: you're navigating your spiritual values in the world. But what
- 4:27Speaker 1: I think it is more clearly, and I think a
- 4:30Speaker 1: lot of the conversation around healing, it's like mental health here,
- 4:34Speaker 1: mindfulness wellness here, and it's like you have to have
- 4:37Speaker 1: both and they have to be integrated for you to
- 4:40Speaker 1: really live the fullest life possible. You have to do
- 4:42Speaker 1: some of that deeper trauma healing, which mental health is
- 4:46Speaker 1: so great for. Talk therapy, so matic therapy is so
- 4:49Speaker 1: beautiful for but you also need that piece that makes
- 4:52Speaker 1: it real for you and not just stuck in your brain,
- 4:54Speaker 1: not just intellectualizing it. It has to come down to
- 4:57Speaker 1: your heart so that you can actually embody and live it.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So why did they go hand in hand? Why do
- 5:01Speaker 1: you mental health and mindfulness go hand in hand? You think, well,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you have to have integration, so you have to have
- 5:06Speaker 1: the mind, body soul connection to have the full experience
- 5:09Speaker 1: of being a whole human being. And a lot of
- 5:12Speaker 1: times when we just focus on the mental health point,
- 5:15Speaker 1: which is just incredibly important, but when we just focus
- 5:18Speaker 1: on that, you're missing so many other opportunities to love yourself,
- 5:22Speaker 1: to get to know yourself. You know, part of part
- 5:25Speaker 1: of the reason we're so disconnected from ourselves is because
- 5:28Speaker 1: we feel foreign in our own bodies, especially if you're
- 5:31Speaker 1: a person of color. You know, you were trained through
- 5:33Speaker 1: systemic racism, through years of ancestral trauma, to not really
- 5:39Speaker 1: feel safe in your own body. And so self care
- 5:42Speaker 1: is really such a radical form of revolution for us
- 5:46Speaker 1: as people of color, to really be able to sit
- 5:48Speaker 1: inside yourself and enjoy where you're spending that time, to
- 5:52Speaker 1: be able to even touch yourself, to love your body,
- 5:55Speaker 1: you know, to feel yourself. It's so so important, and
- 5:59Speaker 1: I think so many people don't realize how rare that is,
- 6:02Speaker 1: especially depending on your circumstance. You know, even to hold
- 6:05Speaker 1: eye contact with another person and so sacred and intimate,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and so many people have a real, a real challenge
- 6:12Speaker 1: being able to do that because of how they experienced themselves.
- 6:15Speaker 1: What was the turning point for you that that got you,
- 6:17Speaker 1: that that got you really into it? Was it something
- 6:19Speaker 1: that you've seen, Was it some trauma that happened to you,
- 6:22Speaker 1: Was it a friends trauma? Like? What got you so
- 6:24Speaker 1: into it? You know, I think we all walk around
- 6:27Speaker 1: with so much storage trauma, and sometimes it's trauma that
- 6:31Speaker 1: really was passed down to us genetically through our d
- 6:33Speaker 1: n A, through our ancestral trauma that we have, and
- 6:36Speaker 1: you know, we when you have different experiences like maybe
- 6:40Speaker 1: you're a little more angry, or maybe you know your
- 6:42Speaker 1: depression prone, our anxiety, A lot of it is things
- 6:45Speaker 1: that are so outside of your control. And so I
- 6:47Speaker 1: started noticing that, you know, in my own healing. I'm
- 6:50Speaker 1: an only child raised by a single parent. It was
- 6:53Speaker 1: a very emotionally isolating experience. Sometimes, you know, which any
- 6:57Speaker 1: only child's listening. I know that you can only people
- 7:00Speaker 1: think we're spoiled, but in fact we're just introspective. But
- 7:04Speaker 1: you know, it's um when I started really investigating myself
- 7:09Speaker 1: looking back at my history, looking back at my experiences,
- 7:12Speaker 1: and seeing what I thought they meant about me. So
- 7:15Speaker 1: much of the things that happened to us when we're children,
- 7:17Speaker 1: even if they're not major, you know, perceived major traumas,
- 7:21Speaker 1: they plant these seeds of how we grow to feel
- 7:23Speaker 1: about ourselves and how we grow to see the world.
- 7:26Speaker 1: And so when I started really investigating, like why do
- 7:28Speaker 1: I think this way, why do I feel that way?
- 7:30Speaker 1: Why do I experience like a charge in my chest
- 7:32Speaker 1: or an anxiety? When this happens and you slowly start
- 7:35Speaker 1: peeling back the layers, and before you know it, it's
- 7:38Speaker 1: like this memory as a three year old of misinterpreting
- 7:41Speaker 1: something that happened, that planted a seed that you built
- 7:44Speaker 1: upon and built upon and built upon, and before you
- 7:46Speaker 1: knew it, you know, you were in a space where
- 7:48Speaker 1: maybe you didn't really care about yourself, or you didn't
- 7:50Speaker 1: think you were worth it or worthy. And I think
- 7:52Speaker 1: that this idea of worthiness so many people grow up.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Really all the human experiences is remember bring your wholeless.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Everyone has seeds of feeling like they're unworthy at one
- 8:04Speaker 1: time another, and many for their entire lives. And you
- 8:07Speaker 1: don't quite know why, and so doing a lot of
- 8:09Speaker 1: that self investigation, doing different things that allow you to
- 8:13Speaker 1: feel connected to the inside of yourself, to feel connected
- 8:16Speaker 1: to your journey. It helps you start really releasing that
- 8:20Speaker 1: narrative so that you can live the fullest life possible.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Do you think the circumstances of this past year make
- 8:27Speaker 1: it easier or more difficult to to go on a
- 8:29Speaker 1: spiritual journey. I think a little bit of both. You know,
- 8:34Speaker 1: there's always that kind of yin and yang, that that polarity.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I think for a lot of people that were already awakened,
- 8:40Speaker 1: you were tested more deeply. It was really like, can
- 8:42Speaker 1: you put this work to the test in this moment?
- 8:45Speaker 1: And that's what I really had to do. I've been
- 8:47Speaker 1: doing this work, I've been meditating many many years, and
- 8:50Speaker 1: then being in this scobal pandemic, I'm like, Okay, it's
- 8:52Speaker 1: time to step up my self care routine. I gotta
- 8:54Speaker 1: supercharge it. The things that I was doing to show
- 8:57Speaker 1: up for myself in this moment, it's not an enough.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So how else can I best love myself and love
- 9:04Speaker 1: this moment? How can I lean into uncertainty? I think
- 9:07Speaker 1: some people were thrust into like a radical shift. Maybe
- 9:10Speaker 1: people who didn't even feel that they believed in this
- 9:13Speaker 1: kind of stuff. You just are brought to your knees
- 9:16Speaker 1: and you're forced to surrender um. And I think for
- 9:18Speaker 1: other people, because that's just the way the human brain works,
- 9:21Speaker 1: it further solidified to them whatever narrative they created about
- 9:25Speaker 1: the world being unsafe. You know, it's been so dope
- 9:30Speaker 1: for people who want to guests started on a spiritual
- 9:32Speaker 1: journey but don't know where to begin. What would you
- 9:34Speaker 1: tell them would be one of the first steps, Oh man,
- 9:38Speaker 1: You know, one of the first steps is just really
- 9:40Speaker 1: setting the intention to become more and to be better.
- 9:44Speaker 1: There's so much power in planning the seat of intention um.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And you can do that with affirmations, you know, depending
- 9:49Speaker 1: especially on your cultural belief system, there is so much um.
- 9:54Speaker 1: So many family systems that really restrict your ability to
- 9:57Speaker 1: connect to yourself, and so many belief systems that tell
- 10:00Speaker 1: you you have to have a middleman to get to
- 10:02Speaker 1: the divine, to get to God. But God resides in
- 10:05Speaker 1: all of us, like our ability to grow and transcend
- 10:08Speaker 1: is always there. And trusting that we have a right
- 10:12Speaker 1: to access that goodness and that deeper connection on our
- 10:16Speaker 1: own is so important. But I would say, really just
- 10:18Speaker 1: saying out loud. You know, one of my first when
- 10:21Speaker 1: I first started this path, it came as me on
- 10:23Speaker 1: my knees bawling and saying, God, I surrender, use me,
- 10:29Speaker 1: you know. And I think in the mindfulness world, whatever
- 10:32Speaker 1: you like to call your higher power, if you believe
- 10:34Speaker 1: in one, it's really just saying I'm ready to become more.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Show me how or something I love saying to myself,
- 10:41Speaker 1: Um is God, please show me the deeper truth of
- 10:43Speaker 1: who I am. And then I disconnect from whatever that
- 10:46Speaker 1: answer is, and I let the answers just slowly show up,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and the right teachers, or the right readings or the
- 10:52Speaker 1: right conversations just begin to populate your life in a
- 10:55Speaker 1: really delicious way. Can negative energy attract positive energy? Death? No? Impossible? Yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: it's impossible, you know it's um. The energetic exchange is
- 11:10Speaker 1: such a deeply powerful and sacred experience. And when you're
- 11:15Speaker 1: rooted in negativity, we're each the we're each the co
- 11:18Speaker 1: creators of our life. So we're in co creation with
- 11:21Speaker 1: divine power or whatever you like to call that higher
- 11:23Speaker 1: power to really manifest the life of your highest vision.
- 11:27Speaker 1: When we hold onto those seeds of negativity, or we
- 11:31Speaker 1: consider ourselves to be stuck or unworthy of more, which
- 11:35Speaker 1: typically if you're negative, it's because you've given up a
- 11:37Speaker 1: belief that you can have more or that you deserve more.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And when you give into that mindframe, it doesn't allow
- 11:44Speaker 1: any cracks in your wounds for the light to get through.
- 11:47Speaker 1: So it's really hard from that space to be able
- 11:49Speaker 1: to attract positivity, which is not to say you won't
- 11:52Speaker 1: encounter some, but you just may not be able to
- 11:54Speaker 1: recognize it when it shows up. Wow, I want to
- 11:58Speaker 1: know about You're doing a podcast. You have a podcast
- 12:00Speaker 1: that's on UM. Your partner up with Charlemagne. Now let's
- 12:04Speaker 1: talk about this podcast. How do you give out gems
- 12:06Speaker 1: in this podcast? Drop? Yeah, you know, I'm really connected
- 12:12Speaker 1: to jesty mystifying the journey UM. I talked about thinking
- 12:15Speaker 1: like my own musings, observations I'm having about the world,
- 12:18Speaker 1: observations I'm having about myself as I do the work.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I have guests on you know, I had Charlemagne on
- 12:23Speaker 1: the show talking about really unpacking his journey. I would
- 12:26Speaker 1: love to have you, Envy, I would love to have
- 12:28Speaker 1: you angelus. A note to self tells done on him
- 12:31Speaker 1: real quick, stay there, good, tell them where we tape
- 12:35Speaker 1: that at. Oh well, we were just on a little
- 12:39Speaker 1: vacation in Mexico. But that's neither at your house, all right,
- 12:44Speaker 1: at your cribbing cobb. All right, you're trying to get
- 12:48Speaker 1: me robbed at this. I don't know what you're talking about.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Uh no. But so in this season, so it's really
- 12:57Speaker 1: talking to people about their journeys because so many people
- 12:59Speaker 1: think they can't approach this work because they don't have
- 13:02Speaker 1: this ideal thing happening or they haven't reached this level
- 13:05Speaker 1: of success. So oh, of course it's easy for you.
- 13:07Speaker 1: And it's really about getting into like the cellular level
- 13:10Speaker 1: of like how did that switch start happening? How did
- 13:12Speaker 1: you start allowing yourself to see the world differently and
- 13:15Speaker 1: to shift? And in this season, I'm really excited because
- 13:18Speaker 1: we're deep diving into a lot of metaphysics. I have
- 13:20Speaker 1: incredible guests coming on the show, people doing deep work
- 13:24Speaker 1: and decolonizing the mental health field, joy and pleasure work,
- 13:28Speaker 1: really bringing pleasure to the forefront as a way to
- 13:30Speaker 1: help women heal um using orgasms to manifest. We talked
- 13:34Speaker 1: about that on the show this yeah, yeah, we were
- 13:40Speaker 1: getting there. You know, there there's a lot of facets
- 13:42Speaker 1: to this wellness. It's not just meditation. There's so many
- 13:46Speaker 1: healing modalities and so many tools to be on this journey.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And so this season I'm really trying to unpack it.
- 13:52Speaker 1: So for people that are like, oh, I can't meditate,
- 13:54Speaker 1: there's no way, or oh that looks weird, this looks weird,
- 13:57Speaker 1: I'm really looking to present so many different entry points
- 14:00Speaker 1: for this path. How did you break through with Charlemagne?
- 14:03Speaker 1: I mean, because you know we talked. I mean, I
- 14:06Speaker 1: mean with being honest. You know Charlemagne a long time
- 14:08Speaker 1: and you know how he was, you know, hurt people,
- 14:10Speaker 1: hurt people who He used to make me fun of
- 14:12Speaker 1: people all the time. Um, it didn't matter if you
- 14:16Speaker 1: were tall, short, black, white, if if you're down syndrome,
- 14:20Speaker 1: Charlemagne would make that is not trying to kid in
- 14:25Speaker 1: your school you made fun of and you said, the
- 14:26Speaker 1: kid yoked you up. He didn't have down syndrome. He
- 14:29Speaker 1: was like autistic, okay, autistic. But you know, how how
- 14:33Speaker 1: did you, you know, get Charlemagne? How did you get
- 14:36Speaker 1: Charlemagne out of that? You know, how did you get
- 14:38Speaker 1: him out of that way he's changed a little bit
- 14:41Speaker 1: where you know, I'm seeing him, you know, walking outside
- 14:43Speaker 1: with his bad toes, you know, hugging days and things
- 14:46Speaker 1: like that, Like how did you get up to that part? Well,
- 14:51Speaker 1: Charlemagne has divine light on him, so I think that
- 14:54Speaker 1: has always been in his cards since he was born,
- 14:57Speaker 1: to live this really beautifully big life. I think, you know,
- 15:01Speaker 1: it's like Charlemagne gets all the credit for that. He's
- 15:04Speaker 1: done the work. You know, he's deep dived into himself.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And I think that it's so hard to look at
- 15:09Speaker 1: yourself for real. You know, we get so caught in
- 15:12Speaker 1: this idea of shame, or this idea of what we
- 15:14Speaker 1: don't deserve, or this idea that past decisions that we've
- 15:17Speaker 1: made have to define what the rest of our life
- 15:20Speaker 1: is going to look like, especially with council culture. And
- 15:22Speaker 1: I think it's so important that you know, we allow
- 15:25Speaker 1: people the room to stretch and to grow, Like as
- 15:28Speaker 1: a society, we can only expand as the highest level
- 15:32Speaker 1: of consciousness that we possess. So so many of the
- 15:35Speaker 1: ways that we maybe showed up a little differently was
- 15:38Speaker 1: also you know kind of um, it was kind of
- 15:42Speaker 1: in the midst of what our collective consciousness allowed at
- 15:45Speaker 1: that time. But you know, shock Eavy. You know, Charlemagne
- 15:49Speaker 1: has always been woke, even when he was in the
- 15:50Speaker 1: midst of his craziness, he has had that he's super woke. Now. Now,
- 15:55Speaker 1: when I see Charlemagne hugging a tree and holding a
- 15:57Speaker 1: tree and walking around in the grass, was ugly told
- 16:02Speaker 1: did not have a pedicule number two that was called grounding, sir, okay,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I was centering myself, all right, the hug insues too,
- 16:09Speaker 1: So why is that important to tell them what grounding
- 16:12Speaker 1: is important? We have to get anchored, you know. So
- 16:16Speaker 1: we could let me try to say this in a
- 16:18Speaker 1: way that that's going to really make it across, because
- 16:20Speaker 1: we could dive into like all the different energetic bodies
- 16:24Speaker 1: that we possess. We have our kind of what's called
- 16:26Speaker 1: a food sheath, which is our physical body that houses
- 16:29Speaker 1: our soul, the skin, you know, bones and all that,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and then you have your energetic bodies and there's so
- 16:34Speaker 1: many different layers of energy that surrounds you. Um. But
- 16:38Speaker 1: I think when we get into when we're on Earth
- 16:41Speaker 1: and we're experiencing this human experience as as spiritual beings,
- 16:45Speaker 1: we have to ground. We have to remember to get
- 16:47Speaker 1: centered in a great mechanism. To do that is connecting
- 16:50Speaker 1: with nature and really being able to behold the functions
- 16:54Speaker 1: of the world and behold God's beauty and God's grace.
- 16:57Speaker 1: And it's so important to do breathwork. It's so weren't
- 17:00Speaker 1: to plant your feet in soil, to plant your feet
- 17:02Speaker 1: in the ground, to get restored, to experience sunshine on
- 17:05Speaker 1: your skin and really hold space, uh, to be mindful
- 17:09Speaker 1: in those moments, and to experience all the little joys
- 17:11Speaker 1: that come with it. You know that Devi is so important,
- 17:14Speaker 1: you know she She's one of the most important people
- 17:16Speaker 1: in my life. But the reason I feel you're so
- 17:18Speaker 1: important to the coaches because you are hip hop. You
- 17:21Speaker 1: know I'm saying, watching you grow from Tupac the DPAC
- 17:24Speaker 1: has been one of the the greatest joys in my life.
- 17:27Speaker 1: And I want to ask you, like, what what did
- 17:30Speaker 1: Tupac do to open up your third eye? Because because
- 17:34Speaker 1: since I've known you, you've been a Tupac Hey, yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 1: super obsessed. Uh. You know, the thing that I thought
- 17:41Speaker 1: that I always connected to so deeply with Tupac was
- 17:43Speaker 1: how multifaceted he was and how awake. He was at
- 17:48Speaker 1: such a young age. You know, we forget and obviously
- 17:50Speaker 1: are there problematic lyrics? Was there some problematic behavior, But
- 17:55Speaker 1: most of what we saw of Pak was him twenty
- 17:57Speaker 1: four and under and the fact that he was able
- 18:00Speaker 1: to showcase the array of human emotions and human experiences.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I always connected to, you know, I've always, always, since
- 18:07Speaker 1: I was a little girl, been fascinated by transformation, really
- 18:11Speaker 1: been deeply introspective and wanted to know what are what
- 18:15Speaker 1: are all the feelings one can feel? What are all
- 18:17Speaker 1: the experiences one can connect to? And I think, you know,
- 18:20Speaker 1: Pak said it so well. He he had figures, these
- 18:23Speaker 1: really archetypal figures like him, like Oprah. You know, they
- 18:26Speaker 1: sparked the They sparked that thing in your brain that
- 18:29Speaker 1: lets you know you can have more, you can think more,
- 18:31Speaker 1: you can be more. And when you see pac and
- 18:34Speaker 1: you know, songs like keep your head up, Brenda's got
- 18:36Speaker 1: a baby, um baby, don't cry, you know, unconditional love,
- 18:42Speaker 1: so many tears. There was so much depth to him,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and that's something that I didn't really hear in that
- 18:48Speaker 1: way growing up, and so I was just I was
- 18:51Speaker 1: floored when when I was a little girl in pac
- 18:53Speaker 1: was on the scene, you know, the things that he
- 18:54Speaker 1: were saying. It just started expanding my mind and it
- 18:57Speaker 1: planted the seeds to really seek out more for me.
- 19:00Speaker 1: But that's why the journey has been so amazing for
- 19:01Speaker 1: me to watch, because I think I mentioned like oh
- 19:04Speaker 1: six oh seven, and it was it was park and
- 19:06Speaker 1: it was all West because but you was always conscious.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So just to watch that consciousness, just to continue to grow,
- 19:11Speaker 1: to grow, to grow to now where you you know
- 19:14Speaker 1: you you you work for deep Parc, the chief impact
- 19:16Speaker 1: Officer at Chopra Global. You're building with Deepark Chopra on
- 19:21Speaker 1: a regular basis. Like that's just been very very interesting
- 19:25Speaker 1: for me to watch. Yeah, and you know, for for
- 19:28Speaker 1: us all, I think because we all know dev on
- 19:31Speaker 1: our you know, on a different type of level for
- 19:33Speaker 1: different purposes. But I've always trusted you, So I trust
- 19:38Speaker 1: in this. Oh, Angela, thank you. And me and Angela
- 19:42Speaker 1: used to be in the streets. I don't want to
- 19:46Speaker 1: bring it up up, you know, but yeah, Earl trips
- 19:49Speaker 1: to Miami and the streets in l A and New York. Yes, club, Yeah,
- 19:57Speaker 1: I gotta run all forgot about it to leave her
- 20:03Speaker 1: car in the parking lot. I have no idea what
- 20:06Speaker 1: you're saying. Let's talk about meditate, guys. Let's before that,
- 20:11Speaker 1: I want to talk about your book real quick. I
- 20:13Speaker 1: want to talk about Crystal Bliss. There you go, because
- 20:17Speaker 1: you know Crystal Bliss. I wanted what did it benefits
- 20:19Speaker 1: of gyms and crystals? Dev sends me, Jim, She sends
- 20:21Speaker 1: me crystals. I buried something that tree you saw me hugging,
- 20:24Speaker 1: I buried I buried something at the root of that.
- 20:26Speaker 1: What did it benefits the gym's and crystals? Yeah, crystals
- 20:29Speaker 1: are such a beautiful accompaniment. And you know, I think
- 20:31Speaker 1: there's there's so much education around mindfulness that has to
- 20:34Speaker 1: happen for the bipop community because it's so much of
- 20:37Speaker 1: it is misunderstood or people were giving given false narratives
- 20:41Speaker 1: through different systems of belief of what to stay away from.
- 20:45Speaker 1: But people don't really even know, you know, what these
- 20:47Speaker 1: things are, what they do. And I think crystals are
- 20:50Speaker 1: such a beautiful accompaniment to whatever work that you're doing.
- 20:53Speaker 1: They harness so much beautiful energetic power um And it's
- 20:57Speaker 1: believed that you know, crystals different crystals. There's hundreds, you know,
- 21:01Speaker 1: sometimes into the thousands. Even though those aren't readily available,
- 21:04Speaker 1: but there's so many to choose from, and they all
- 21:07Speaker 1: emanate energy, you know, energy, the fact that we possess it,
- 21:11Speaker 1: the fact that we're made of it, the fact that
- 21:14Speaker 1: you know we're able to radiate it. Everything that exists
- 21:17Speaker 1: holds that. And you know the thing with crystals, as
- 21:19Speaker 1: their ancients, they're as old as the earth is, so
- 21:22Speaker 1: they harness um, in my belief, so much beautiful divine
- 21:27Speaker 1: energetic power. And they're great accompaniment to the work and
- 21:30Speaker 1: so great starter crystals for people, um that are looking
- 21:33Speaker 1: to kind of start on the crystal journey. Got it
- 21:35Speaker 1: in my book, but I would say, grab some amethysts,
- 21:38Speaker 1: grab some clear courts, grab some sutrine. Those are great
- 21:42Speaker 1: stones to start with to really start inviting in some
- 21:45Speaker 1: new energies before we get into the meditation. Do you
- 21:47Speaker 1: get upset when you see people who seem to be like,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you know, using it's like performative wellness. You know, there's
- 21:55Speaker 1: they're selling crystals, they're they're practices, they're they're teaching mindfulness
- 21:59Speaker 1: and like, but they really haven't done the work. Yeah,
- 22:03Speaker 1: I think, you know, I wanted to say, I get
- 22:04Speaker 1: upset about it. I think it's dangerous for the people
- 22:07Speaker 1: that are perhaps spending money or buying into things with
- 22:10Speaker 1: someone who just isn't ready to teach. Yet. I think
- 22:13Speaker 1: we all possess the ability to be teachers and guides
- 22:16Speaker 1: for other people based on the work that we do.
- 22:18Speaker 1: But this is the era of the expert, right, Like
- 22:21Speaker 1: this is the era where everybody is marketing themselves and
- 22:24Speaker 1: selling themselves, and so I just think it's important that
- 22:27Speaker 1: if you do feel called to be in this field,
- 22:29Speaker 1: you do the work. You know. It's not like I
- 22:31Speaker 1: didn't just wake up and say, you know what, forget ready,
- 22:34Speaker 1: forget this, I'm gonna start teaching and I'm gonna just
- 22:37Speaker 1: start talking, you know. I really I've been researching. I've
- 22:40Speaker 1: been doing certification programs all over the world for the
- 22:43Speaker 1: last eight years. Like I am deeply processed, and I
- 22:46Speaker 1: just think that's important. And but I think this field,
- 22:49Speaker 1: along with any other fields, you have your tears, right,
- 22:52Speaker 1: you have like your real, deep, authentic people with excellence.
- 22:55Speaker 1: You have people that are maybe okay, you have mediocre.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Then you have people that are scamming, you know, But
- 23:01Speaker 1: that's the case with every single industry and anything that
- 23:04Speaker 1: people do. So It's just important to vet the people
- 23:07Speaker 1: that you want to learn from and really make sure
- 23:10Speaker 1: that they're walking what they talk, really make sure that
- 23:12Speaker 1: they have the right tools, because when you do this
- 23:15Speaker 1: trauma work, it's so sacred. You don't want to open
- 23:18Speaker 1: people up to this raw space and then not have
- 23:21Speaker 1: the tools to help them navigate through it. And you know,
- 23:25Speaker 1: Dev is really done to work. And you know what,
- 23:26Speaker 1: I mentioned things like you know your house right, I
- 23:32Speaker 1: do that for a reason because I literally have slept
- 23:35Speaker 1: on Dev's couch. You know what I'm saying. Dev is
- 23:37Speaker 1: literally slept on my couch, like literally in real life,
- 23:41Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So to see us go
- 23:43Speaker 1: from that to where we are now, that should be celebrated.
- 23:47Speaker 1: And we and we both did it by pursuing our passions.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I remember when you told me like, I'm I'm not
- 23:52Speaker 1: doing radio no more. I want to go help people.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I want to go help people heal. And that could
- 23:56Speaker 1: have been a tough decision, but that clearly what your
- 23:59Speaker 1: life's work. Yeah, And you know, and I say it
- 24:02Speaker 1: this to say like we're all helping people heal. It's
- 24:04Speaker 1: just I knew I was called to do it in
- 24:06Speaker 1: a new way. But you guys help people heal on
- 24:08Speaker 1: the radio every single day in major ways. I see
- 24:11Speaker 1: a'all comments like you are literally changing lives. But and
- 24:17Speaker 1: I will say, when I was in Houston, I remember
- 24:18Speaker 1: you were like, come over the house, and then you
- 24:20Speaker 1: wanted us to like play this game. It wasn't really
- 24:22Speaker 1: a game, but we went over to your house and
- 24:26Speaker 1: it was like, Okay, now I want you to write
- 24:27Speaker 1: down like you were doing that early on. So the
- 24:30Speaker 1: progression and dedication to the work is amazing. Thank you, Angela. Yes,
- 24:36Speaker 1: Angela came over and we played this game called the Wish,
- 24:39Speaker 1: which is all about manifestation, and we had crystals as
- 24:42Speaker 1: our little board pieces. I was like, okay, now write down,
- 24:46Speaker 1: write down your dreams, and then we're gonna You know,
- 24:49Speaker 1: I trust you because if it would have anybody, I
- 24:52Speaker 1: don't know, I'm out of being like, all right, are
- 24:54Speaker 1: we gonna do a shot after each one? The do
- 25:00Speaker 1: some meditation death what were doing? Okay? All right, everybody
- 25:05Speaker 1: go ahead and gently close your eyes, get as comfortable
- 25:10Speaker 1: as you possibly can, whatever that means for you, and
- 25:13Speaker 1: just take a moment to experience yourself inside of your body.
- 25:16Speaker 1: So crack your neck if you need to kind of
- 25:20Speaker 1: shift your shoulders. Just notice where you may be holding
- 25:23Speaker 1: any tension, any stiffness, and just set an intention to
- 25:28Speaker 1: soften and to really relax. And now let's focus on
- 25:32Speaker 1: our breathing. Go ahead and take a few deep breaths
- 25:35Speaker 1: in through your nose, hold it at the top, and
- 25:42Speaker 1: then exhale through your nose. And let's do that another time.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Inhale through your nose, big deep inhale, and now go
- 25:56Speaker 1: ahead and exhale, and now you can return to just
- 26:00Speaker 1: a beautiful natural breath, just gently letting the air come
- 26:05Speaker 1: in and out, really nourishing your body, breathing in so
- 26:10Speaker 1: much vital energy and love, and then exhaling any energy
- 26:15Speaker 1: that store that doesn't serve you. And as we sit
- 26:19Speaker 1: in this space, just focused on that breath, feeling really
- 26:22Speaker 1: grateful for this moment. Let's plant the seed for a
- 26:26Speaker 1: few thoughts for the day. You can go ahead and
- 26:30Speaker 1: repeat these silently to yourself with your eyes closed. I
- 26:38Speaker 1: am enough, I am enough, I am safe, I am safe,
- 27:03Speaker 1: I am worthy, I am worthy, And just sitting in
- 27:17Speaker 1: that awareness right now, basking in your own love, knowing
- 27:21Speaker 1: that you are so deeply equipped for this moment, that
- 27:26Speaker 1: all the tools you've ever needed or searched for already
- 27:30Speaker 1: exists inside of you and are ready to meet you
- 27:34Speaker 1: as soon as you are. And now let's take a
- 27:40Speaker 1: moment and bring our hands in prayer position to heart center,
- 27:45Speaker 1: just really feeling that connection inside of ourselves, feeling grateful
- 27:50Speaker 1: for our lives, however they may look in this moment,
- 27:54Speaker 1: feeling grateful for our bodies. And let's hold on to
- 28:02Speaker 1: the beautiful thought of namas day. The light in me
- 28:07Speaker 1: recognizes and honors the light in you, and we can
- 28:12Speaker 1: bring our fingertips to our forehead center and just take
- 28:15Speaker 1: a gentle bow of gratitude for one another. And whenever
- 28:22Speaker 1: it feels comfortable, you can gently float your eyes open.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Thank you. Dev Dropping Jim's podcast on The Black Effect
