- 2:58will be on the show. This can be Monday. Little little note about
- 3:01that, all right, So I gotta get a couple news headlines out of
- 3:04the way here, and they're my guest Coast cost this week as Amy Breedlove.
- 3:07You may or may not recognize Amy's name, but I bet you'll recognize
- 3:09her voice. She is a native of this here area, did her time
- 3:15here at the old radio ranch, working various stations here in the ability before
- 3:19Barking and What's Been, and continues to be a very successful career doing voiceovers
- 3:23for various companies around the world, and she joins us now in the Parmar
- 3:27Store studios. My Friday co host Amy, good morning, How are you?
- 3:30Good morning? I'm good, how are you? It's great to have
- 3:32you here. How's that for an introduction? I loved it with We're gonna
- 3:38have more Amy covering up a little bit later on, but being Friday,
- 3:40that means we're joining our good friend from the Canala Charleston You Maine Association,
- 3:44Hannah Gardner, with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Hannah,
- 3:46good morning, how are you great? How are you? I am
- 3:51doing fine. My guest co host this week. Hannah is Charleston native and
- 3:54world renowned voiceover artist Amy Breedlove Amy Hannah, Hannah, Amy, Why Hannah.
- 4:00Hello? So you and I talked yesterday. Hannah. It's it's been
- 4:03a rough week of the shelter. And I mean that just because you said
- 4:06so many things going on talk about it. Yes, So there has been
- 4:12just a lot of animals. Are this is still pretty high, We're still
- 4:15pretty much capacity. I would have to say. We are still struggling to
- 4:20take in strays. We're struggling to take in surrenders. We're struggling to take
- 4:25in anything right now, cass and dog wise, just because we have to
- 4:29wait for a kennel to open before we can take in another one. And
- 4:31I know that that's you know, it can be upsetting to some people when
- 4:34they bring a stray and they can't drop it off to the shelter that you
- 4:38know, usually they would be able to. But typically all you'll need to
- 4:42do is just we'll just ask you to keep it for like the night or
- 4:46forty eight hours or something. By that way, we can wait for a
- 4:48kennel to open and then we can call you or we can schedule an appointment
- 4:53to have you bring it in. It's just been hectic in the sense of
- 4:57there's just a lot of animals coming in and out and we are try best
- 5:00to keep up with everything. Well, you guys do a great job,
- 5:03so hats off to you in the entire team. Let's get right to our
- 5:05pet of the week and is always the pictures posted on Dave Alland Radio and
- 5:09Facebook and at Dave a seventy on Twitter. This morning the story of Bianca.
- 5:13Hannah to tell us about Bianca. Yeah, she is very very um,
- 5:19she's very sweet, but she she's about two years old and she's like
- 5:25she's like a pretty much for the most part, all white. She's like
- 5:29a pity mix. Maybe I'm not exactly one hundred that's sure, she could
- 5:33be like a bully mix or something like that, but she definitely does have
- 5:36some of that looks to her. And she is more of a people dog
- 5:42than a other dog dog. She prefers people, So maybe a home where
- 5:47she doesn't have to necessarily be with other dogs. And then also she does
- 5:54have a good bit of a interview, so she would be great for someone
- 5:56who maybe likes to go on like hikes for some from like that or lady
- 6:00even travel or something, so she would be good with that. She does
- 6:04not like cats. So if you have a cat, um, I promise
- 6:09you she does not like cat. We know that, we've seen that she
- 6:12doesn't like cats. Um. But she is a social butterfly and she's a
- 6:15very sweet girl. She just needs someone who can understand her and take her
- 6:18time with her and just give her the attention that she needs. She's adorable,
- 6:26yes, oh, I will say. Also she is deaf. That
- 6:29is a big thing. Oh yeah, she is deaf. I did forget
- 6:32to mention that to you last night too. But she she hasn't Um,
- 6:38she's she's fine and she does things normal like you probably wouldn't even realize.
- 6:43But she definitely can't hear that. Well. Um, she has been adopted
- 6:47before, but say, I guess she got out or something and she came
- 6:53back to to a pay and she was just never reclaimed. So she's available
- 6:58again and she's just looking for her not a good home. Well that makes
- 7:00me want to adopt her even more. Whether you go amy, well,
- 7:06I mean again, un and all these animals would I mean, you're on
- 7:11here every weekend and you know um that we try to find all these animals,
- 7:15and we actually have a pretty good success rate and find at the homes.
- 7:16But this this dog, I don't want to say it's special needs,
- 7:18but there are. It will take a special kind of person to do it.
- 7:20But one of the things I liked about the dog canon is as you
- 7:24said, is once you get over those barriers. Does not like cats and
- 7:28not a big fan of other animals. But as far as people, this
- 7:31dog is perfect, right, Yes, she is perfect for people. She
- 7:35loves people. Um and I will say she has been in a foster before,
- 7:41and the foster did tell us that she is housebroken. She's very good
- 7:45in the house. She goes right outside and she holds it from what we
- 7:48were told, you know, and she up here's to do excellent with children
- 7:55as well. Even though we always advice costumes with any child and any dog,
- 8:00no matter how friendly, you never know where the dog came from,
- 8:03and you just want to be cautious and we want to make sure that you're
- 8:05teaching is still done the respectful boundies of dogs as well, So you know,
- 8:11she she seems to be really good with kids and we absolutely love her.
- 8:15And she's been with us since February, so we're trying to find her
- 8:18a home. Well, we'll talk about some other things, Hannah going on
- 8:20at the shelter. Now, you did a virtual tour and your guys facebook
- 8:24page. I'll watch that last night, and I understand that thanks to the
- 8:28fine folks Abissel and the Bissel Pet Foundation, the adoption fees for cats,
- 8:33dogs and select puppies or just twenty five dollars, Is that right? Yeah,
- 8:37So we're having an adoption event which is um Bistile Cat Foundations and do
- 8:41the shelters. It's the National adoption Event, and it is reduced adoption sees.
- 8:46So all of our adult dogs ever six months, and our cast and
- 8:52kit ends, and then like you said, some very select puppies that have
- 8:56been with us for a while or haven't had any interest or anything like that,
- 8:58we include those as well. So they are just twenty five dollars pretty
- 9:03adoption fee, and I will say it's twenty five three option fee. But
- 9:07if they are not fixed and they go home with you, because we do
- 9:11have a pretty backed up surgery schedule for them to get fixed, then you'll
- 9:16pay a twenty five dollars deposit on top of that. But that does get
- 9:18refunded back to you when they get brought back to be fixed anyway, so
- 9:22it's still technically just that twenty five dollars at the end of the day,
- 9:26and that event does go on until the thirty first, so it is pretty
- 9:30much just the whole month to be the perfect time for you to go get
- 9:33your next fur baby for your house. How are we doing on supplies up
- 9:37there, Hannah, Cats, cat, dog food, that sort of thing.
- 9:41Yeah, we definitely could use some dog food still. I think we're
- 9:45doing okay on cat food. We could use some kitten chow and some dog
- 9:50adult dog chow. And what we get is the Purina kitten chow. It's
- 9:54the yellow bag and then if you're in a cat chow as a blue bag,
- 9:58and then the Purina dog dog chow. I believe it's like a redish
- 10:03greenish bag. So it's definitely needed right now. And I will say another
- 10:09thing that we could use is some blankets, some tows, things like that,
- 10:11because we are running well on those as well. That's kind of a
- 10:16given throughout the year that you can always use those things, is that right,
- 10:20yes, well, and it's always a pleasure to have you on the
- 10:24show. Now, I'm going to be away from the Palmar Store studio next
- 10:26Friday, So I'm going to leave you next Friday in the capable hands of
- 10:30Dale Cooper. I will talk to you though again in two weeks. Thanks
- 10:31a lot, all right, thanks for you, Hannah Gardner again from the
- 10:35Canal. Charlestu made association with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week.
- 10:39Have we won your heart yet? Amy? Oh my gosh, I
- 10:41want to go volunteer. At least do they still allow walk thanks to come
- 10:46up? They always need people to walk and pet them and take them on
- 10:48trips and fostering and the whole thing. I mean, yeah, yeah they
- 10:54do. And again they're in need of, as we said, pet food,
- 10:58blankets, towels. I can always use those things up there. And
- 11:00now, if you want to see the dog we're talking about again, Bianca
- 11:03is a dog's name, you can go check out the pictures posted on Dave
- 11:05Allen Radio and Facebook and at Dave a seventy on Twitter. Female two years
- 11:11old Spade House Broken prefers people over pet see I'm the opposite. I prefer
- 11:16pets over people. Love's Weekend Adventures, I'm told so there you go,
- 11:22kid friendly. But we just learned that that Bianca's death. I did not
- 11:28know that. No, and she looks to be maybe hypoellergenic or less shedding
- 11:33maybe possibly. Yeah. So and as always what we tell people, if
- 11:37you see these pictures that we post on social media and you hear Hannah on
- 11:41the show talking about it, go up there and take a visit. I
- 11:43mean, it doesn't cost anything to go in and say, hey, I'd
- 11:46like to hang out with this dog or cat for a little while. And
- 11:48if you've got another pet, because there's always that question is how does he
- 11:52or she get along with my dog or cat or you know, champ or
- 11:54whatever it is you happen to have in your house whatever, bring them along
- 11:58with you. They allow that sort of thing up there. So again,
- 12:00the pictures posted on Dave Out on Radio, on Facebook and at Daybase Sebody
- 12:03on Twitter. Let's find Bianca a home. Five eighty Live is brought to

- 15:31host today, still hanging out doing all right over there. You let me
- 15:35have to know Amy a little bit better a little bit later on, because
- 15:37here's one of those things about and Amy, as I said, used to
- 15:39work here, one of ten thousand people that have worked here throughout the years.
- 15:43Probably and uh and so you probably you have heard Amy on the air,
- 15:48but you probably are more familiar with her work that she's done outside radio
- 15:50and we're gonna talk about that a little bit later on with Amy. Now
- 15:54you may be wondering where the heck is Jim Strawn. Strawn is off doing
- 15:58Strawn things because for the second straight week there is no Live on the Levee
- 16:02tonight it had ad Riverfront Park. They took a couple of weeks off the
- 16:04Levee. We'll return next week and with that to the show next Friday Friday
- 16:08fun House, we'll return Jim Strawn again. I'll not be here next week.
- 16:11Dale Cooper will be in next week and hen Jim, we'll be talking
- 16:15about Live on the Levee, which returns next Friday night to the Moses Otter
- 16:19Group Stage. It had ad Riverfront Park. When welcome and a good friend,
- 16:22Chris, whatthrow from the Benny Keatam Shrine? How are you, sir?
- 16:26I'm great, good morning, Thank you for being here. I kind
- 16:29of rocked your world a little bit, man, because normally I have you
- 16:30on on to my left side because Amy is here. Now you're on the
- 16:34right to just flip everything I say and everything will be good. Yeah,
- 16:37everything's good. You're just on that side now, Chris. Last time I
- 16:40had you on. I wanted to talk about your past event. It was
- 16:42the days leading up to your big fish fry that you do at the Shrine
- 16:45Temple. How did that go? Man? It went great. The fish
- 16:48was awesome, the turnout was awesome. We made some really good money for
- 16:51the clowns and it was a great, great time, good fellowship, good
- 16:55food. It was awesome. Now, when you guys do these different events
- 16:57like that particular event, you're doing it for the clowns. As you say,
- 17:00not explain that specifically. Um, the fish fry was to benefit the
- 17:04clowns, and um, you know, I try to help advertise for all
- 17:08of the different units, but each unit will come up with the fundraisers so
- 17:14that they can in turn do more things to raise money to give to the
- 17:18hospitals. So you know, uh, like I said, that last fish
- 17:22fry was uh specifically for the clowns. That we had the celts for kids
- 17:26a couple of years ago, that was for the Highlanders, uh. And
- 17:30then they of course then donated all that money back to the hospital. So
- 17:33it's just a each unit they try really hard through parading and fundraising to to
- 17:41meet our mission, and that mission is to raise money to help kids walk
- 17:45and it's it's a it's a wonderful organization. It's a great fun and we
- 17:48have a we have so much fun doing it. So there's a lot of
- 17:51crazy fun events that we do all throughout the year. So it's it's really
- 17:53nice. And that's one of the things, uh that Amy you know this,
- 18:00If you're having fun, it's really not like you're working at all.
- 18:03Oh, that's the best. That's the way it's supposed to be, right,
- 18:04exactly, exactly exactly. Now, Chris, you're back today with another
- 18:08great event. Talk about them. Well, it's it's our float trip.
- 18:11It's going to be our first and I hope annual float trip that we get
- 18:15to do every year. But today is drop off your kayak the night before.
- 18:22We're going to be up at that Blue Creek boat ramp there and help
- 18:26you and we'll be set out from four to eight. If you want to
- 18:29bring your kayaks out early and leave them there, we'll have a security guard
- 18:33watching them all night so everything will be safe. And then you can just
- 18:37go right straight to Coonskin in the morning and drop your vehicle off. And
- 18:41the County Commission and the KRT has graciously give us some transportation, so we'll
- 18:48have two buses running back and forth from Coonskin, which is the takeout point,
- 18:53and then of course we'll be starting at nine am. The first boat
- 18:56will go in at nine am up there at Blue Creek Boat Ramp, and
- 19:02uh, it's gonna be a great day. We've got a lot of got
- 19:03a lot of people. I mean people, are you expecting that part?
- 19:07Well, I you know, I'd like to say two hundred and fifty,
- 19:10but uh, you know, the weather looks good to mark that it matters
- 19:12when you're out to be really nice. And the great thing is is that
- 19:17we've had a lot of rain leading up to this, which has not been
- 19:18so fun for the other events that's been going on in Ralston, but it's
- 19:23raised that water level up for us, and so there's the there's going to
- 19:26be a smooth float all the way from out from the Blue Creek Boat Ramp
- 19:32all the way down to Coonskin, where we're gonna have food vendors set up.
- 19:37We've got a band's gonna play, the Weekend Warriors, who are awesome.
- 19:41Um, they've played a long you know a lot of places in town,
- 19:44you know, a lot of people are familiar with them. They're great,
- 19:47So we're gonna do that. Um, you know, the whole mission
- 19:51here is this particular fundraiser is to support that temple, the center at one
- 19:56hundred Corrier Street, and that keeps the lights on, that keeps things paid,
- 20:02that keeps you know, the buildings in good repair. So that that's
- 20:07our home base and we've got to keep that thing going. It's a huge
- 20:10building. It is it's one of the best parking lots in Charleston. We
- 20:12always try to throw that, oh yeah, because it certainly is. It
- 20:15is. That's what And Amy, this is what I told Christman he's been
- 20:19on. When I go to events at the Kittle Sema Convention Center, I
- 20:22you know, if I go to the high school basketball tournament or whatever,
- 20:25it's the best parking lot of Charleston. I mean, you can't. And
- 20:27and what I like about it is is when you you make a donation to
- 20:32park there for these events, that money goes directly to the Shrine Club and
- 20:34it goes to all of these activities that we're talking about here. Terrific.
- 20:37Yeah, absolutely, so tomorrow morning, come down. You know you haven't
- 20:44pre registered. What you can do you can preregistered U right now. You
- 20:48can just go to uh benny keatam WV dot us, click on the link
- 20:55events link and go down and look at Paddlefest and you could pre register and
- 20:59pay right online. Amy ask you a question there could could you can you
- 21:02rent those not from us? There are a few kayak rental places in um
- 21:08Clendon and area, Elk View area and you can look them up. UM,
- 21:11you can find them on a Google search and get them, but we're
- 21:17not doing that. Um. However, it's going to be a really good
- 21:21time. And I know that there are people who have rented that are going
- 21:23to use their kayaks at this event tomorrow. And Amy, you know you've
- 21:27been away from Charleston for a while. Agon We're gonna talk to you a
- 21:30little bit later on. But this thing with the water, you know,
- 21:33with the paddle boarding and kayaking has really not only here in the Charleston area,
- 21:37I mean down in southern West frind has really really taken off. Have
- 21:41you ever done any kayaking everything like that? Um, only in Florida,
- 21:45but I would love to hear so I definitely need some guidance absolutely well,
- 21:51come you know what you know, there's a lot of places down, like
- 21:53I said, in the Elk River area in Clendon and that rent them.
- 21:57And look if you can and get you one tomorrow, they'll they may even
- 22:00bring it down for you. It's hard to say. I'm not sure what
- 22:03they do. Just tell them who you are. I was on to Dave
- 22:07allen Chew, but perhaps you've heard of me. Absolutely, but again and
- 22:12again, Amy, I have these guys on, you know, Chris at
- 22:15least once a month and could talk about these because I truly believe in in
- 22:18what it is that they do with the Shrine Club. It's a fantastic organization
- 22:22and they're always doing so much for the community and giving back to kids and
- 22:26and things of that nature. It's just unlimited the amount of things that they
- 22:29do. It's a great organization. It's terrific. Yeah, we do a
- 22:32lot of work. You know, we directly support two hospitals, one in
- 22:34Lexington that deals with orthopedics, and then of course we directly give to the
- 22:41hospital in Dayton which deals with burns, scars, dog bites, that sort
- 22:47of club pilot. You know, we do all those. So we have
- 22:49world class doctors, world class doctors, and you know, we've had such
- 22:56success helping kids right here in West Virginia. And so we're really excited about
- 23:03the things that we do. And if you ever get a chance to go
- 23:07to a Shriners hospital, I implore you to do so. It'll change your
- 23:10life forever. It's a wonderful, wonderful experience. And and all of the
- 23:15men and their ladies that are involved at the Shrine are so focused on two
- 23:22things, having fun and raising money. So it's really nice to get with
- 23:27a group of really nice people that have a common goal in mind and and
- 23:32work well together and have fun, and it's it's it's just a great things,
- 23:36the best organization I've ever been involved in in my life. And this
- 23:40venue that we talk about and I want to go. Always try to get
- 23:42him an opportunity to plug the venue there on Coyer Street. It's I mean,
- 23:45I've been to several events there. It is a beautiful venue. So
- 23:48if you've got an event coming up, you don't have to be a member
- 23:52of the Shrine to utilize it. If you've got a wedding, a class
- 23:56reunion, as I mentioned earlier, I had my class reunion, uh not
- 24:00in not in Charleston, Butody Logan a couple of months ago we utilize the
- 24:03Shrine Club facility that they have down there for our class, class reunion,
- 24:07any kind of a you know, an anniversary party, get together. It's
- 24:11got a full kitchen, it's got everything you could possibly want at it.
- 24:15I think I've been to a yard sale there. Well, hey, you
- 24:18get it. We've had exotic pet things, We've had yard sales there.
- 24:22I mean, it's a great space. And again that parking lot really makes
- 24:25it nice because you don't have to worry about, you know, trying to
- 24:27find a place to park and so forth. So it's really nice. But
- 24:30we can accommodate a business meeting to twelve people up to three hundred ninety nine
- 24:37people. I think two weekends ago we had a wedding there and we were
- 24:42pushing the four hundred mark. It was an outstanding wedding. Fire Marshal,
- 24:47if you're listening, don't listen. I said, we were pushing it,
- 24:49but it didn't break didn't break it yet. But I think there was like
- 24:53three hundred and like eighty some eighty five people actually in attendance. You know,
- 24:59you send out there invitations, they don't always come right. Yeah,
- 25:02but man, every these two, these folks, they were from the Saint
- 25:04Alban's area. Very part the parking lot was full. It was completely full,
- 25:08completely a great time, and I know everybody did too. We were
- 25:11there watching it and helping, and it was a really good event. So
- 25:15he was he was there scarping up the free meatballs in the in the wedding
- 25:18cake because well, there's a price, do you know to use the belt?
- 25:22What? What are the prices? I mean is that very week you
- 25:26know, it's you know, between five and six hundred dollars through the week
- 25:30and and and you know, under two thousand dollars for a weekend. Um,
- 25:36you know, and that also gets you, um, you know,
- 25:37your tables and and Lenen's and the whole nine yards and stuff. You don't
- 25:41have to worry about because you got enough, you know with your event trying
- 25:45to get people there. You don't have to worry about this. You know.
- 25:45We have a full full commercial kitchen downstairs. We have a uh servers
- 25:52kitching up top, food, warm wars, anything that you could possibly need
- 25:56for catering, we have it there. And we have a great staff that
- 25:59works there today today. They're there Monday through Friday. If you want to
- 26:03come in and take a look at the facility. You can come in and
- 26:06we'll give you a tour, and you can book your next event with us.
- 26:10And I'd love to have you and we'll take good care of you when
- 26:12you're there. All right, let's talk about this event again tomorrow. This's
- 26:15review. Give us times places you can drop off your kayak this evening between
- 26:22four and eight up at the Blue Creek dock or boat ramp at the d
- 26:26and or just built okay, you're we're losing out of MicroB sorry. And
- 26:30then tomorrow morning, if you haven't preregistered or brought your kayak in early,
- 26:36you come up to the Blue Creek, drop off your kayak, travel back
- 26:40down to Coonskin Park. You'll park there in a designated area, which we'll
- 26:42take care of you. We'll get you registered if you hadn't been at that
- 26:45point. We're gonna provide buses back up to the put in point. We're
- 26:48gonna put that first boat in at nine am, float down the river,
- 26:52have fun, take your time and enjoy. It's gonna be a great day.
- 26:56And then when you get off, we're gonna help you get your boat
- 26:57out, get you back to your vehicles, and we're gonna have a little
- 27:00Shriner's village, if you will, with food vendors and some nice music from
- 27:04the Weekend Warriors. If somebody is let's just say, I always like to
- 27:08do out these scenarios. Let's say somebody's working tomorrow and they can't do the
- 27:14whole event, they can't get on the river or whatever, I mean,
- 27:17could they could they still stop by and maybe make a donation, Absolutely,
- 27:21and just take part of the and the after festivities. Yeah, we're gonna
- 27:23be selling T shirts, you know, and with it it's a thirty five
- 27:26dollars entry, so it's not not very expensive. And with that you get
- 27:30a T shirt, you get our logoed sticker that we had made, and
- 27:33a safety whistle, which, by the way, every craft has to have
- 27:37a safety whistle now in the state. I didn't know that. Yeah i'd
- 27:41motorized or not, you must have a whistle. So we went ahead and
- 27:44just printed up made up a bunch of them with our logo on it,
- 27:47and we're gonna give those out as part of the thirty five dollars entry.
- 27:52But we'll be selling T shirts and come by. You know, if you
- 27:55can't make the float. If you want to come by and get a T
- 27:57shirt or get a package, come in and enjoy the food and enjoy the
- 28:03music. That'd be great. We'd love to have you, all right,
- 28:06Chris. Always a pleasure to have you on the show. Appreciate you being
- 28:08here. Best to luck with your event. Tomor we'll talk to you next
- 28:10month. And let us every month and he comes on and they've got something
- 28:12going on to get it's it's a lot of fun, but it's all about
- 28:17raising money for these hospitals and the different programs and that you have going on
- 28:21with the Shrine day. Thanks so much. Maybe it's nice to meet you.
- 28:22You got a great day, and enjoy the rest of the show,
- 28:26all right, Thanks a lot. Five. Eddy Live is brought to you

- 33:06Thursday or whatever. And I looked it up and well, it's like a
- 33:09I guess a branch off your Instagram. And I thought, okay, well
- 33:14I don't have an Instagram, so I guess that kind of takes me out
- 33:15of the running. I have an Instagram, so know I have to check
- 33:19it out, all right. So yeah, so you got to have the
- 33:21Instagram first. Look, I suck up the MySpace, so you know,
- 33:24I'm sorry. I think I do too. That's still waiting on that to
- 33:28come back. Amy Breedlove is my guest co host today. Now you're in
- 33:30a native Charleston tonium is all right, born and raised and educated? All
- 33:35right? Tell us what part of Charles new from here in Charles South Hills,
- 33:38okay? All right? And so and graduate of what school? George
- 33:42Washington and Marshall University? Okay, gw and Marshall. Of course, I
- 33:46want to hear about about you growing up. You know, you've knocked it
- 33:51out of the park as one of the top voiceover talent. It's literally in
- 33:53the world. And we're gonna talk about that a little bit later on.
- 33:57But was this voice thing or things related to speaking or singing or broadcasting or
- 34:01something. Was it something that you wanted to do even as a kid.
- 34:04Oh my gosh. It's so funny because I've just started going through all of
- 34:07my stuff and I apparently have been in front of the microphone since I was
- 34:14seven years old. Um, I have cassettes, I have records. I
- 34:19have now I forgot the name of them. Not carts eight tracks? Eight
- 34:22tracks, Thank you, Hollywood. Jeff Patty, our producer who told me
- 34:28earlier he was born in nineteen ninety five. Let that sink in for a
- 34:30moment. He has no idea what an eight track is. Started working here,
- 34:36Yeah, in this room actually that had carpet everywhere. It's a lot
- 34:39prettier now. The more seventies vibe, then well it's we've at least moved
- 34:44up to like nineteen eighty three in here. Now there's a redo. They
- 34:46tell me though, they're going to totally redo the Palmar Store studio, and
- 34:51they tell me inside information. At some point there's going to be cameras in
- 34:54here. So five eighty five is actually going my makeup, well me too.
- 35:00Five eighty Live is actually going to be much like Hopy Show is actually
- 35:02going to be on camera, they tell me at some point. So I
- 35:05gotta work at it. But anyway, so you've always been You've always been
- 35:08in front of the mine. Yes, And I just you know, I
- 35:10never thought about djaying um. I didn't even learn about voice over until nineteen
- 35:16ninety nine. And I always wanted to be a singer. And that's so
- 35:22I would sit in front of the radio from seven years old, record all
- 35:24these songs, learn the songs, and I'm like, I'm going to be
- 35:28a singer by the time I'm twenty five years old, would be the next
- 35:30Debbie Gibson of our generation. That's what we wanted to I mean, I
- 35:32didn't want to be Debbie Gibson necessarily. Yeah, there you go. So
- 35:37so you go away to college at Marshall Gohard, which is actually where you
- 35:40and I are paths cross paths at UH and hats off to Chuck Bailey and
- 35:49in Ben at East and all the George Arnold, all the people at marsh
- 35:52University, yes, all of them. Uh. And what was interesting about
- 35:57that was around that same time at Marsha Universe City and you and I were
- 36:00talking about this in the green room at like you know, you and I
- 36:02were there at the same time. Dave Benton who's on CHS Fox Eleve,
- 36:06Dave and I did the new news, Tom Roten who is a big radio
- 36:09guy in Honeyton. Now, Tom and I were there at the same time.
- 36:13Derek Scott, who later went on to UM do a lot of stuff
- 36:16with Ohio University, played by playing things that nature, Paul Swan who's big
- 36:21radio gaps. So we were all kind of there at one time. I
- 36:22don't know what happened to me. The rest of you guys went on to
- 36:25impress the stuff. So what I've got the Dame Allens? Yes, So
- 36:29what happened after college though? I mean, what gets you in there?
- 36:30So? So because you came here, you were here for a while,
- 36:32right, Yeah. I started out as an intern over at WCHS TV,
- 36:39and then um Rick Johnson hired me here back in marj Yes in nineteen ninety
- 36:45five. And I started here um like I said, in the seventies vibe
- 36:49room with the carpet on the ceiling and the carpet on the walls. And
- 36:52it was kind of a combination of here in w kwus um uh doing sort
- 36:59of overnights and such. And then I switched to seven to midnight on V
- 37:05one hundred um and did some other radio stuff along the way, even an
- 37:10Anchorage, Alaska. Now, how in the world did June up at guil
- 37:14from Charleston to Anchorage, Alaska. My husband was in the Air Force,
- 37:16so he was he was there for seventeen years, and he is from here.
- 37:20So we met here and then he dragged me to Alaska. And it
- 37:24was fun, though, so much fun. It was a great adventure,
- 37:27A little Chili and Tad. How's radio in Alaska different? I mean,
- 37:32I know it's that sounds like it's a foreign country. It's not. It's
- 37:35one of the one of the top fifty. But was were there any differences
- 37:39up there between radio there and here? Um? Just the you know,
- 37:44you'd walk outside to clean off the truck m and your nose hairs would freeze
- 37:47because it was snowing a lot. Um that was mainly the only difference.
- 37:52And the cool thing of seeing the sun barely rise over the chew Gatch Mountains
- 38:00out of the studio in the winter, that was that was pretty cool.
- 38:04So when you were here, let's go back to when you worked here?
- 38:06Who are some of the other people you've name dropped a few like Rick Johnson.
- 38:08Who are some of the other people that people may recognize? Names of
- 38:12different people that worked here when you were here? Oh my goodness. Let's
- 38:15well, we know Jeff Jenkins was here because Jeff yes, and Chris Lawrence.
- 38:19Chris is actually off today. I think he didn't get to see Chris
- 38:21today. Matt Goodwin, he's the one who who I bugged. He's actually
- 38:25the one who got me into the biz, I think. But yes,
- 38:29because I was working at Camelot Records at Charleston Town Center and Matt Goodwin walks
- 38:34in and was talking to somebody about V one hundred and I heard that,
- 38:37and it like the light went off. I just exploded inside. So I
- 38:42ran over and I'm like, did you just mentioned BE one hundred. I'd
- 38:44really like to be on B one hundred, Kenny help me? So who
- 38:50else? There's so many people? Anthony the overnight guy? Yes, I
- 38:54ran into him. I haven't seen him in ages because you don't live I
- 39:00mean, you're in Florida, now, is that right? Yes, I'm
- 39:01in Florida now, okay, so you don't and then we pop up here.
- 39:05You know, it's great to take a family and whatnot here. So
- 39:07okay, all right, So the voiceover thing, so you go from radio
- 39:12how how is? And we're going to give you an example, give a
- 39:14listener's example some of your voiceover work a little bit later on, How exactly
- 39:16did you get into doing the voice? I mean, you have obviously a
- 39:20fantastic voice. I'm a radio guy that does not have a fantastic voice.
- 39:24I faked it all these years. But how did you get into doing the
- 39:28voiceoverthing. Oh gosh. Around nineteen ninety nine, someone said you need to
- 39:34look into voiceover. So I chatted with the stationed voice guy when he was
- 39:37in town at one point, got a lot of good information. Started doing
- 39:43some local Mattress warehouse commercials. Remember Mattress Warehouse I do, Yeah, m
- 39:49did those, and life happened my parents. I'm an only child. My
- 39:54parents passed, so I kind of pushed it to the side for a little
- 39:58bit. Once I'm at my husband in two five, he said, you
- 40:02know, you should be doing commercials all the time. And I'm like,
- 40:06that's what I love to do because I loved doing production in radio. And
- 40:10when I got to Alaska, the afternoon guy said you really should look into
- 40:15voiceovers. And I'm like, Okay, the universe is trying to tell me
- 40:16something. So I just started part time while in radio and continue that,
- 40:23and once my client base grew, I realized that, Okay, I think
- 40:28I can do this full time. And just so you know, not to
- 40:30insult anyone's intelligence when you're talking about voiceovers, these are you know, when
- 40:36you hear a commercial, what most of what you hear on these stations are
- 40:39are us you know? It's people that but if you hear what you know,
- 40:43national advertisers a you know, a Ford or a Ge or Wendy's or
- 40:47whatever the case may be. People make money, you know, by actually
- 40:52voicing these things. And now with technology, because it used to be,
- 40:54you know, you'd have to go into a big studio in New York and
- 40:58if you want to make money in voiceovers, you're gonna have to be in
- 41:00New York, Chicago, La, Dallas, somewhere like that. But now
- 41:04you can be you know, cabin Creek or something as long as long as
- 41:07you've got a studio, as long as you have a studio, and do
- 41:10you do the majority of of of your work from your home wherever you are
- 41:15wherever I am, Yeah, I've got my little portable that I bring with

- 46:57Okay, morning you'll find me with a glass of uh palm, the
- 47:01pomegranate, honey green tea thing and night, oh night, herbal tea.
- 47:07Okay from the I just don't get the hype department. Name a place you've
- 47:12visited that many people loved but you just weren't feeling it. Oh geez,
- 47:16Louise, um oh see it's questions like this that make me go my gay.
- 47:22Um let's see, it just wasn't There's so many places that I've visited
- 47:28that was all great. That'd be one that just didn't stick out? Isn't
- 47:31ass not all that? Can we come back to that? Okay? Okay,
- 47:37The messiest part of my house is oh boy, my studio. Okay,
- 47:42who is your third grade teacher? Missus galprin If there are three pieces
- 47:47of pie on the table, apple, strawberry and chocolate. I'm taking the
- 47:51apple. You're guilty, pleasure TV wise m missus mazel uh, please keep
- 47:59this away from me. Gosh, please keep this away from me. Chocolate.
- 48:07Okay, first name only. Who's the funniest person you know? Robert?
- 48:14Okay, i'll scale one to ten. How good are you at math
- 48:17zero? Typical typical radio person? Since you are a speech professional. What's
- 48:22the one thing that people say anyone in everyday conversation that drives you nuts?
- 48:30Oh? When they don't pronounce their teas? Okay, all right, button,
- 48:36Okay, let's go back to uh from the I just don't get the
- 48:39hype department. Name a place you visited. Many people love, but you
- 48:42just weren't feeling it. Okay, let's see um. Okay, maybe I
- 48:49know now, Okay, Wall Drug. Even though the marketing for it was
- 48:52super cool, once I got there, I was like, well, you
- 48:55know, I thought it would be a little more. Okay, you've completed
- 49:00ten questions. You've got a text for you, tech, says Lisa.
- 49:05The AI voice for waste management is absolutely annoying. You cannot direct her to
- 49:08a representative right human beings and not AI. That's what I've spent yesterday was
- 49:16talking with a candidate for Attorney General here in West Virginia and also State Senator
- 49:22Ryan Weld, who's talking about AI. What's your opinion of AI, because
- 49:24I mean it could be the death knell to a lot of what we do.
- 49:28Let me tell you, I may have to have a backup plan.
- 49:30It's a little frightening because yes, it's out there and it is happening,
- 49:36and I receive auditions with you know, yeah for the scratch track, which
- 49:39means that it's an inspiration of what we're supposed to sound like. For our
- 49:45audition, we've used an AI AI voice for it. So hopefully those AI
- 49:52voices don't get more emotion, because that's what's missing right now, digueing the
- 49:58emotion. And you can't erect just like the text said A, you know,
- 50:01because I do live sessions a lot, and you can't tell them to
- 50:06read it like this or give me a little more sadness in your voice or
- 50:09a little more excitement in your voice. Dale Cooper, who's my boss here,
- 50:13Dale is fascinated with A. He's looking for a way to replace me.
- 50:15That's what he's always playing around with. Hey, you can listen to
- 50:17this. Listen listen to the next nine to ten, gay because you're you're
- 50:21gone, text says Dave, no offense to you, love your show,
- 50:25But I could listen to her voice twenty four to seven. Why is she
- 50:29not on here with her own show? Perhaps known to three oh, replacing
- 50:34Dampongino. Well, there you go. Can I do voiceover in between?
- 50:39There? You? Because you have a career, so, um it would
- 50:44be fun. Um, what's the process like for you? What's an average
- 50:47daylight? Because you work from your home, that's where your studio is.
- 50:50Well, what's the average day like for Amy Breed Love and the voiceover business.
- 50:53I set it up just like a regular or nine to five job,
- 50:57and I audition, audition, audition like crazy, and uh hope that I
- 51:02get jobs. And when a job comes through, of course I work on
- 51:06that. Um. I'm also marketing myself a lot, and I work on
- 51:12my books and and then occasionally I'll grow and go and throw a load of
- 51:15laundry in. You know, you got to do that too, because even
- 51:19voiceover superstars have to have clean things occasionally because you wear a fuzzy pantel,
- 51:24Yes, yes you do. They frown up on it when I do it
- 51:27here, I could, especially when the politicians and stuff in the in the
- 51:30studio. And that's what I mean. You're always it's just like any other
- 51:34gig. I mean, you're always chasing, you know. I mean,
- 51:35you've got your established people. I guess it may be par I guess I
- 51:37don't know how it works to have you under contractors. So but then you
- 51:40have people that you're always looking for, absolutely working people. I'm sure you
- 51:44got a website, you get a YouTube, You've got something where people can
- 51:46can check out your work. Whereas we may get you some local people here
- 51:50that'd be terrific, more local. Yeah, www dot Amy, breedlove dot
- 51:53com. That's Amie. And of course there's the YouTube, there's the Facebook,
- 51:57there's the instant there you go and and coming soon. Threads and threads,
- 52:01right, so I got to look at it right into Amy. It's
- 52:05been a pleasure catching up with you. It's been way too long since I've
