- 0:14Speaker 1: boy's going to be in the delivery room here really
- 0:16Speaker 1: soon actually this week as you listen to this, he's
- 0:18Speaker 1: probably sitting in the delivering room. But whatever you're doing,
- 0:22Speaker 1: make sure you are subscribed to this podcast. Subscribe to
- 0:26Speaker 1: this channel. We have a new channel. This is the
- 0:28Speaker 1: first episode on that channel. All the data, all the
- 0:31Speaker 1: information will now be on that channel. But this is
- 0:34Speaker 1: at for the Dad's Pod on YouTube, for the Dads
- 0:37Speaker 1: on Spotify, for the Dad's on Apple, at for the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Dad's Pot on all social channels. Fire me up, Shuram.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We have a bunch of shit out there, a lot
- 0:46Speaker 1: of stuff that you can subscribe to help support up.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I was in the coffee shop the other day and
- 0:50Speaker 1: Dad was like, oh, hey, I loved your I loved
- 0:52Speaker 1: your clip on Instagram and I'm like, yeah, yeah, that's
- 0:55Speaker 1: a thank you for tuning in to the show. He's like, oh,
- 0:56Speaker 1: it's a show. How do I get on the show
- 0:58Speaker 1: and he's got his phone out and I'm helping him
- 1:00Speaker 1: navigate to YouTube just to subscribe to a channel. And
- 1:03Speaker 1: he was so fired up and got my piss hot.
- 1:04Speaker 1: But I'm wondering these dads, these guys, you have to know,
- 1:08Speaker 1: they want to know how to support this channel. That
- 1:10Speaker 1: is what you do. There's the might there's a little
- 1:12Speaker 1: follow button on Spotify. I think there's a plus button
- 1:14Speaker 1: on Apple podcast if that's where you're consuming us. If
- 1:17Speaker 1: you're on YouTube right now watching the boys spin it,
- 1:21Speaker 1: just make sure please subscribe to the channel. Leave comments.
- 1:24Speaker 1: The engagement has been off the charts. But we're fired up. Sure,
- 1:29Speaker 1: I know you're nervous. Bro. It is the week. This
- 1:31Speaker 1: is the week, this is the weas game day. JP
- 1:34Speaker 1: knows what I'm talking about.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And I wish we had the rights to scrill us
- 1:37Speaker 2: so bad. I've been playing Scrilla a lot in the car.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Now do we get dinged when that comes on? When
- 1:42Speaker 1: I dropped that, when I dropped the b Oh for sure?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Oh it does? So I can't yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 2: But if you're a listener, you pause this, play Scrilla
- 1:53Speaker 2: for like that first five seconds.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Come back? Yeah, how you feeling man, dude. Okay, before
- 1:58Speaker 1: we get in all that, just letting people know again
- 2:01Speaker 1: there's a we're at the farmer's market. Dad loved the
- 2:04Speaker 1: hat repping the girl Dad stuff we got for the
- 2:06Speaker 1: Dad's Hats BWTB dot com. That's where you can buy
- 2:10Speaker 1: or merch. And again, the biggest thing, especially this week
- 2:13Speaker 1: is that we have launched this channel before the Dad's
- 2:15Speaker 1: Pod channel on YouTube on all the platforms. We want
- 2:20Speaker 1: to get better at social media. We were having a meeting,
- 2:22Speaker 1: a meeting of the minds myself, you and Chef Jack
- 2:26Speaker 1: on how we can engage more because there's there's there's
- 2:29Speaker 1: so many call ins, like shout out to you guys
- 2:31Speaker 1: who are using the hotline six oh one the Dad's
- 2:34Speaker 1: and calling in. We have five hundred plus voicemails over
- 2:37Speaker 1: the last few weeks. We're finding a way to kind
- 2:39Speaker 1: of uh segment through those, kind of compartmentalize those when
- 2:43Speaker 1: you do call in, it would be very helpful. And again,
- 2:46Speaker 1: if you're tuning into the show for the for the
- 2:48Speaker 1: first time, we talk Dad losses, we talk moments. We
- 2:51Speaker 1: would crack a cold one too.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Uh.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We have a call in segment. We have Dad hacks.
- 2:56Speaker 1: What you need in the survival kit, a lesson or
- 2:58Speaker 1: a quote or topic of the that's kind of been
- 3:00Speaker 1: marinating on our minds and hearts to just be better fathers.
- 3:04Speaker 1: But we kind of hit those segments in our show.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And if you're calling in you want to leave a voicemail.
- 3:09Speaker 1: What helps our boys Chef Jack a lot to one
- 3:11Speaker 1: of our producer who breaks all this stuff down in
- 3:13Speaker 1: the back end, if you can just say, you know,
- 3:16Speaker 1: at the top when you introduce yourself, this is a
- 3:18Speaker 1: dad loss of mind this week, or this is something
- 3:19Speaker 1: I could crack a cold one too this week, or
- 3:21Speaker 1: this is a quote topic or lesson that I've really
- 3:23Speaker 1: enjoyed that I think the boys the dads might like.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Or if you want to just vent about your wife
- 3:28Speaker 1: beat you down verbally a little bit, and you know
- 3:30Speaker 1: that beat down is needed, but you need a place
- 3:33Speaker 1: to go in a safe space to talk about it.
- 3:35Speaker 1: That's six o one the dad. So please do that
- 3:36Speaker 1: for a boy, Chef Jack behind the camera and sure
- 3:40Speaker 1: them obviously sum will be on somewhat of a paternity leave,
- 3:45Speaker 1: but you'll still be in it with the boys. Because
- 3:46Speaker 1: we're a small business, we can't necessarily fully let you
- 3:49Speaker 1: just be off work at all times, but you're excited.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I'm excited. I'm excited. And also to that point, motherfucked
- 3:55Speaker 2: has not gone to the wayside. We're more so and
- 4:00Speaker 2: reducing dad losses and motherfucked is really when you're getting motherfuckers.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's it's it would be hard every week
- 4:07Speaker 1: to come up with a motherfucked moment because number one,
- 4:11Speaker 1: we don't want to just talk about how we're just
- 4:12Speaker 1: getting yelled at by our wives and painting the wives
- 4:15Speaker 1: in a tough picture. But honestly, it's like there's not
- 4:19Speaker 1: those don't happen all the time to where there's a
- 4:21Speaker 1: story to share at all times. And if you look
- 4:23Speaker 1: at if you looked at getting motherfucked like that kind
- 4:25Speaker 1: of that kind of goes underneath the umbrella of like
- 4:28Speaker 1: a dad loss, like, hey, I took a dad L
- 4:30Speaker 1: this week with my love with my wife, or I
- 4:32Speaker 1: took a dad L with my daughter or my son,
- 4:34Speaker 1: or I took a dad al because I'm holding myself
- 4:37Speaker 1: accountable and this is a dad L or was a
- 4:39Speaker 1: bad moment for myself. So I feel like dad loss
- 4:41Speaker 1: is as much easier to kind of break down within
- 4:44Speaker 1: the scope of talking about our failures as fathers.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It is, it is it opens it up for us
- 4:49Speaker 2: to find more stories. That was a pre production decision.
- 4:52Speaker 2: That was not a decision from our wives saying, hey,
- 4:55Speaker 2: what the fuck?
- 4:56Speaker 1: No, not at all, not at all, not at all.
- 4:58Speaker 1: But it's like, you know, it's I don't want to
- 4:59Speaker 1: say here and make up any you know what I mean.
- 5:02Speaker 1: So it's like, hey, I feel like dad losses would
- 5:04Speaker 1: give us a lot more to work with in a
- 5:06Speaker 1: failure segment. Yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 2: And then also on a more serious note, one of
- 5:11Speaker 2: the problem, like best problems to have, is the problem
- 5:14Speaker 2: that we're having that we're talking about in that social
- 5:17Speaker 2: media meeting is just how much people are reaching out
- 5:20Speaker 2: to us on socials and on the voicemail, which is unreal.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Just the amount of times that we get on our pages.
- 5:28Speaker 2: When we get on the four of the Dad's phone
- 5:30Speaker 2: and see how much you guys have blown us up.
- 5:33Speaker 2: You said it was how many voicemails plus five hundred.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Five hundred plus. I mean that the first week we
- 5:38Speaker 1: kind of ran it, it was around like getting close
- 5:40Speaker 1: to three hundred when you had to take them off right,
- 5:42Speaker 1: or one to eighty or something like that two hundred Yeah,
- 5:44Speaker 1: it's been nuts man and and two.
- 5:47Speaker 2: On the more serious note, we when we do receive
- 5:50Speaker 2: a call that we wouldn't be able to play on
- 5:52Speaker 2: the show. A dad's going through it, parents are going
- 5:56Speaker 2: through it. It's some kind of situation that, like Will
- 5:58Speaker 2: and I always say, we are not atts. And so
- 6:01Speaker 2: for those situations that need an expert, uh, there's the
- 6:05Speaker 2: National Parent and Youth Hotline. They have professional counselors that
- 6:10Speaker 2: are ready to talk to somebody.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Twenty four to seven. It's completely free.
- 6:15Speaker 2: That number is eight five five four to two seven
- 6:18Speaker 2: two seven three six. If you really want to get
- 6:22Speaker 2: that kind of stuff off your chest, if you need
- 6:24Speaker 2: somebody to talk to, that is a professional reach out
- 6:27Speaker 2: to them. We called the number ourselves just to vet them.
- 6:31Speaker 1: They're awesome. They're awesome. That's a crack of cold one too,
- 6:34Speaker 1: right there, SUREM, because I know you took the liberty
- 6:37Speaker 1: of kind of vetting that.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, I mean, dads need to get stuff off
- 6:41Speaker 2: their chests and if they need that emotional support.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yeah, they come here for the locker room talk. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: the locker room banterro. I was just trying to figure
- 6:49Speaker 1: this shit out. Yeah together, ye rolling, it's together. By
- 6:52Speaker 1: the way, I was thinking of uh, I was thinking
- 6:55Speaker 1: of maybe a couple some squad names out there of
- 6:59Speaker 1: the listeners or the listeners and like all of us. Okay,
- 7:04Speaker 1: there's a couple that's kind of you know, you got
- 7:06Speaker 1: a Papa Team six. Hey, how about just going off
- 7:15Speaker 1: the brotherhood the fatherhood and you just get like, you know,
- 7:19Speaker 1: you know the hats how it says the lou and
- 7:21Speaker 1: it's upside down. Yeah, or we just get like fatherhood
- 7:24Speaker 1: and it's upside down and that's how you know you're
- 7:25Speaker 1: like part of the fatherhood. Okay, I like that one
- 7:29Speaker 1: a lot. Papa Team six is strong, Papa Team six
- 7:35Speaker 1: to where you can just refer to yourself like, oh,
- 7:37Speaker 1: that's a Papa Seal. That's a Papa Seal. That's somebody
- 7:41Speaker 1: who sent Seeman Team six down there and got the
- 7:43Speaker 1: job done. Now he's a Papa Seal and his heart's
- 7:47Speaker 1: black as hell. Yeah. Yeah, you can tell he's been
- 7:50Speaker 1: through some some military tours. And what I mean by
- 7:53Speaker 1: military tours is he's been on some road trips, he's
- 7:56Speaker 1: been on some vacations without any childcare. You can see
- 8:00Speaker 1: it in his eyes. So just a couple of thoughts.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Those are a couple of thoughts.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I love both of those. I love the Fatherhood hat
- 8:06Speaker 2: upside Down. The our merch team was on the phone
- 8:11Speaker 2: with me last week and they were pitching some upside
- 8:13Speaker 2: down stuff too, Like they're one to go heavy into it, so.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I think it's badass. Maybe we let the listeners aside.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Maybe we let some comments decide. Oh yeah, if you
- 8:22Speaker 1: have an opinion on whether we should call this this audience,
- 8:25Speaker 1: this group of dads, this community, the fatherhood, or Papa
- 8:30Speaker 1: Team six with it, I kind of like bye, Papa
- 8:34Speaker 1: Team slide before coming into this. I loved, I love
- 8:38Speaker 1: the Fatherhood. Hey he's part of the fatherhood. M m,
- 8:41Speaker 1: maybe there's like a hierarchy we can you're you're a
- 8:44Speaker 1: real sick.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's part of the father But I don't
- 8:49Speaker 2: know if Papa Team six.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Papa Team six, because there's some play on
- 8:53Speaker 1: stuff there with Papa Team six. Again it's like, hey,
- 8:56Speaker 1: that's a Papa Seal. How do you know he's a
- 8:57Speaker 1: Papa Seal because he sent in seeming a Team six.
- 9:00Speaker 2: You gotta you gotta check his stats man, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 9:04Speaker 2: if he's going around telling people he's popping Team six.
- 9:06Speaker 2: He's probably not popping Team six. Yeah, those are the
- 9:09Speaker 2: guys that stick out there at the bar.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Let us know in the comments. Comments, by the way,
- 9:13Speaker 1: have been have been off the charts. I know, SUREM
- 9:16Speaker 1: you're telling me about some some dms and messages that
- 9:19Speaker 1: you got, but just looking at you know, whether it's
- 9:22Speaker 1: on YouTube, the support has been unreal. Thank you, guys, sincerely.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm looking at one right now from Eli Eli Weinstein?
- 9:32Speaker 1: Did I say that right? You think Eli Weinstein as
- 9:34Speaker 1: a dad and therapist who works with so many men
- 9:36Speaker 1: and couples. This podcast is so needed. Over this is
- 9:40Speaker 1: from no nickname. Over an hour is ideal. Charles a
- 9:44Speaker 1: real real one. Gotta get her on a few pods
- 9:47Speaker 1: call an episode would be sick. Been listening to Busting
- 9:50Speaker 1: for years, but man, this podcast is something different. Love
- 9:53Speaker 1: this show, Green Bay Bucks. This show is so important
- 9:55Speaker 1: to me. Already as a father and soon to be
- 9:57Speaker 1: dad of two, I've learned, experience, I've learned, experienced, felt
- 10:01Speaker 1: and looked forward to so much due to this podcast
- 10:05Speaker 1: is so inspiring. It makes you a better father. Great job, guys.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Can't wait for episode four. People love the long episodes. Damn,
- 10:12Speaker 1: we're gonna try to keep this one under an hour. Damn, dude,
- 10:15Speaker 1: there's no way there an hour way.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I told Will, I'm just gonna be I'm gonna put
- 10:23Speaker 2: it out there for the listeners. I am really I
- 10:26Speaker 2: was very nervous in episode one. I could tell listening
- 10:29Speaker 2: to myself, I soundbody nervous. Episodes two and three, I
- 10:34Speaker 2: was like, Okay, that sounds how like if I'm having
- 10:37Speaker 2: lunch with Will, or like I'm talking to a friend.
- 10:39Speaker 1: That's how I talk.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Yeah, going into this episode, dude, I got shaky hands,
- 10:45Speaker 2: like my chest seals like real heavy and stuff because
- 10:47Speaker 2: I know we're probably gonna talk about scarlet.
- 10:51Speaker 1: And all that stuff.
- 10:51Speaker 2: So I'm just gonna get that out of the way.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I am extremely nervous, and now that I've said it,
- 10:57Speaker 2: I'm already feeling better. Good, feel better. I'm in a
- 11:01Speaker 2: safe space.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Dude. It feels like a big It's a big episode
- 11:04Speaker 1: in a big moment because this week, Bro, you become
- 11:08Speaker 1: a dad. Oh damn, you get welcomed in fully into
- 11:14Speaker 1: the fatherhood or a team six and.
- 11:18Speaker 2: It's no more was it called when you wear military
- 11:20Speaker 2: stuff you're not in the military.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Stolen ballad.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's felt like stolen baalord this entire time. But
- 11:25Speaker 2: y'all are like, oh no, you know, wear the hats
- 11:27Speaker 2: blah blah blah because.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Everybody's welcome you. There's so there's like younger guys, there's
- 11:32Speaker 1: like younger guys. It's like, hey, I don't have a
- 11:34Speaker 1: uc comments like hey, I don't have a kid, but
- 11:35Speaker 1: this pod juices me up for one fatherhood yea, yeah dude.
- 11:40Speaker 2: And speaking of I don't want to lease track of
- 11:43Speaker 2: some of those comments because I pulled some comments.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, talk about because you you had a couple
- 11:48Speaker 1: of cool dms that you yes share.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Austin Cook wrote in he's actually a doctor, a pediatric resident,
- 11:56Speaker 2: but he did put a disclaimer this is not medical advice,
- 11:59Speaker 2: so I can't hold him to it. But he was
- 12:01Speaker 2: giving me tips for the game in Waco, said Jill
- 12:05Speaker 2: doesn't have to pump hi dump. Gave me a link
- 12:08Speaker 2: Jill can have Herbrusky.
- 12:09Speaker 1: So thank you.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Austin Cook for reaching out. We had another guy reach out, Dexter.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Dexter lives in Scotland, he's visiting the United States and
- 12:19Speaker 2: he hit me up and he said, while I'm in
- 12:22Speaker 2: Orlando on vacation, I want to get some of the
- 12:24Speaker 2: merch sent to my hotel. I'm gonna be here for
- 12:27Speaker 2: two weeks. Can I get it within a two week window? Dexter,
- 12:31Speaker 2: I will get back to you. I'm gonna reach out
- 12:33Speaker 2: to our merch team. But what a legend dude across
- 12:36Speaker 2: the Seas left? Yeah, Dexter shout out.
- 12:41Speaker 1: And then, what's up, chef? What's chef coming from the
- 12:51Speaker 1: top rope?
- 12:51Speaker 4: On?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Chef's coming from the top rope and said, why don't
- 12:54Speaker 2: we just cover shipping for him?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Dude's coming in from a chef, you're covering it. I'm
- 13:00Speaker 1: just with you.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Dude's coming in from Ireland. He's hungry for his bust
- 13:05Speaker 2: with the boys, or is for the dad's merch? Yes,
- 13:08Speaker 2: I love that idea, Chef. Yeah, because ever Seas would
- 13:16Speaker 2: be nuts.
- 13:17Speaker 1: We gotta get him hooked up. We'll get him. Okay,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I'll write that down. Yeah, let's get him hooked up, Dexter.
- 13:22Speaker 2: You're getting hooked up, sir. And then, and have.
- 13:24Speaker 1: We found our two from last week? I know we
- 13:27Speaker 1: found Steven, Stephen and Thomas. Yeah, yes, so so so
- 13:32Speaker 1: last week what happened was when you call in and
- 13:35Speaker 1: get featured on the show, we'll be sending you some
- 13:38Speaker 1: free merchandise, some free merch from the store. Well, last week,
- 13:43Speaker 1: what happened was when we dropped. When we dropped all
- 13:48Speaker 1: of the voicemails on the dropbox, it doesn't give the
- 13:51Speaker 1: call in number and everything else, so we can't reach
- 13:54Speaker 1: out to said who the caller was. Last week, those
- 13:56Speaker 1: callers were Steven and Thomas. I did a video on
- 14:00Speaker 1: social media at Underscore. Will Compton on all social media
- 14:02Speaker 1: platforms did a video calling for Hey, we need to
- 14:05Speaker 1: look for these guys. We found Steven, we still need
- 14:08Speaker 1: to find Thomas. Thomas. If you're watching, Yeah, leave a
- 14:12Speaker 1: comment dm at for the dad spot. We're vetting those
- 14:16Speaker 1: because we need to find Thomas so we can get them.
- 14:18Speaker 2: So we have to find Thomas, and this could be
- 14:20Speaker 2: the first official member of Papa Team six. The person
- 14:24Speaker 2: that finds Thomas, or the Fatherhood or the Fatherhood. If
- 14:28Speaker 2: you find Thomas, I think.
- 14:31Speaker 1: That's they're nighted. They're in Yeah.
- 14:33Speaker 2: But yes, Thomas, if you're listening to this, please text
- 14:36Speaker 2: the for the dad's phone or call back in prove
- 14:40Speaker 2: that's yourself. We got this awesome call in from Steven.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I found him in the comments of the YouTube.
- 14:47Speaker 1: He said, oh.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Man, that was my call in. Can't believe y'all featured me.
- 14:50Speaker 2: You know, Steven sixty four thirty seven.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Hit him up.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I said, bro, you got a call back in. We
- 14:55Speaker 2: need your addy. We gotta send you free merch. And
- 14:58Speaker 2: this was the call that we got back.
- 15:02Speaker 5: Hey boys, it's Steven down here from Georgia. I was
- 15:05Speaker 5: featured in the latest pod, which I'm so pumped about
- 15:08Speaker 5: and my kids think it's hilarious.
- 15:09Speaker 1: By the way, right right, I.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Know what he says, don't want to dogs his phone
- 15:17Speaker 2: number because I was.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Taking myself or are you about to play somewhere addresses?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Don't want to dogs his address or his phone numbers?
- 15:26Speaker 1: Papa seel no, dude.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I just loved that he was in the car. You
- 15:29Speaker 2: can hear the car noise. You can hear the kids
- 15:31Speaker 2: in the back. I don't know what they screamed. They
- 15:33Speaker 2: were probably like, Papa team sick.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You're getting hype.
- 15:37Speaker 2: You gotta love it, dude, So shout out Steven. We
- 15:39Speaker 2: got his address. I got an address over to the
- 15:42Speaker 2: merch team. He will be receiving his free for the Dad's.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Merch love it. Did you have a d M that
- 15:48Speaker 1: you wanted to share? That you said kind of made
- 15:50Speaker 1: you a little emotional.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, wait for what are the odds? Or we
- 15:55Speaker 2: can kick it off with what are the odds? It
- 15:56Speaker 2: doesn't matter.
- 15:58Speaker 1: We can hold it.
- 15:59Speaker 4: We can hold it, should we jumping into our first segment,
- 16:04Speaker 4: Dad losses, Yes, talk about some dad l's that we've taken,
- 16:07Speaker 4: which you know again stolen valor.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I'm sure there's a loss in there, like as you know. Look,
- 16:13Speaker 1: you're you're you're in a warriorrself. Yeah, you have a
- 16:16Speaker 1: pregnant wife, been going through a lot. It has to
- 16:18Speaker 1: carry has to carry it all. There's only so much
- 16:21Speaker 1: that a man feels like they can do without just
- 16:23Speaker 1: fully just supporting their wife. Hey, what do you need?
- 16:25Speaker 1: What do you need? How can I help? Let me
- 16:28Speaker 1: get your feet? You're a big foot rub guy, big.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Foot rub guy. Her feet are swelling like crazy. But
- 16:35Speaker 2: she's had the best attitude ever. I'm not just saying
- 16:37Speaker 2: that to like get on her good graces, like you
- 16:40Speaker 2: brought it up last episode.
- 16:41Speaker 1: She's a nurse.
- 16:42Speaker 2: She's on her feet all the time at work. Her
- 16:45Speaker 2: mom just got in town. They're doing a ton of
- 16:48Speaker 2: shopping together and running around. She comes back and it's
- 16:51Speaker 2: like at her ankles, you can just see where the
- 16:54Speaker 2: socks ended, and I mean her legs are so swollen.
- 16:57Speaker 2: So guys with pregnant moms out there, rub those calves,
- 17:02Speaker 2: rub those feet, take care of your girl. As far
- 17:07Speaker 2: as like dad losses right now, yeah, I have one
- 17:11Speaker 2: that I am pre saying that this is a dad
- 17:14Speaker 2: loss because it hasn't happened yet, but I'm already feeling
- 17:17Speaker 2: the effects of it. This is what I'm the most
- 17:19Speaker 2: worried about. This is what I'm the most stressed about,
- 17:23Speaker 2: because I'm getting in the comments. Oh, Sherman's a goner.
- 17:26Speaker 2: He sleeps in last time you'll ever sleep in, Sherman.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Get ready to not sleep Sherman. Oh Sherman's never gonna
- 17:32Speaker 2: get asleep anymore. And I'm just reading these comments, I'm like,
- 17:35Speaker 2: no more, pubg I'm like, fuck, they're right, because I'm
- 17:39Speaker 2: just I'm I'm a you know, a three legged dog.
- 17:43Speaker 2: When I don't get my my sleep, I'm playing handicapped,
- 17:47Speaker 2: and I'm just I'm worried about how am I gonna
- 17:49Speaker 2: perform when I'm low on sleep and I got the
- 17:52Speaker 2: double shot espresso you know, shout out, no free shout out,
- 17:57Speaker 2: and espresso uh already prepped in the kitchen, a lot
- 18:02Speaker 2: of caffeine ready. I slept like all weekend, like trying
- 18:07Speaker 2: to get on a good sleep track. Got twelve hours
- 18:12Speaker 2: two nights ago, twelve hours, went to bed so early,
- 18:18Speaker 2: so many unread text messages because everybody's like, get your
- 18:24Speaker 2: fucking sleep, dude. You're never gonna sleep again.
- 18:28Speaker 1: So you can sleep twelve hours?
- 18:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, it's a problem, dude, this is
- 18:35Speaker 2: an issue. This is a dad loss for sure.
- 18:38Speaker 1: You ever get like checked so for like sleep apnea, No,
- 18:43Speaker 1: that could be a move for you. Oh, like I
- 18:46Speaker 1: have sleep apnea. Yeah, maybe you have sleep apnea. Is
- 18:49Speaker 1: that the where you're like, oh yeah, the mask you
- 18:52Speaker 1: can snore light, You can be somebody's on their back
- 18:54Speaker 1: and their chin sinks back and your mouth's just open
- 18:56Speaker 1: and you just kind of breathe, breathe poorly. When you're sleeping.
- 19:00Speaker 1: You strike me as a mouth breather, so you're getting
- 19:03Speaker 1: more into your chest and into your into your lungs.
- 19:06Speaker 1: That's why, like I can be a mouth breatherer. That's
- 19:08Speaker 1: why I'll take my mouth shut at night, so I
- 19:09Speaker 1: can you know nasal breathe. Well, you knit deeper into
- 19:12Speaker 1: your diaphragm, yes, dude.
- 19:13Speaker 2: And actually, when I think about it, because I bought
- 19:16Speaker 2: that thing that you bought, the intake uh and tape,
- 19:20Speaker 2: and I was doing it.
- 19:22Speaker 1: What happened, I don't know. I just like stopped there.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I wasn't doing it as much. I need to get
- 19:27Speaker 1: back on it, maybe, yeah, but yeah, because yeah, you're
- 19:31Speaker 1: going into You're going into You're going into the trenches.
- 19:34Speaker 1: You're going into the depths of hell. One of our
- 19:36Speaker 1: call ins this week is somebody who's in the trenches. Yeah,
- 19:39Speaker 1: was sleeping and getting the kid down and everything else.
- 19:42Speaker 1: That's what you're worried about your So what is your loss?
- 19:45Speaker 1: You're just you're prefacing.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I'm just prefacing that future loss, dude. Of like, I
- 19:50Speaker 2: feel like I'm gonna slip up. I feel like I'm not.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Like it's kind of like we're in the fox al together. Yeah,
- 19:57Speaker 2: we're in noam. Yeah, you did a great job being
- 20:01Speaker 2: on patrol. You're like Sherman, I'm gonna you get your z's.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I'm watching and you're you do a great job. You
- 20:09Speaker 2: stay up now it's hey, I'm about to pass out, Sherman,
- 20:12Speaker 2: you're on patrol. I'm gonna be sitting there like, fuck, dude,
- 20:16Speaker 2: I can't fall asleep. I can't fall asleep. All this
- 20:18Speaker 2: safe sleep stuff with scarlet.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Why would you think to yourself, I can't fall asleep.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I can't fall asleep because I'd be tired. But if
- 20:27Speaker 1: you're watching my back, what would make you not fall asleep?
- 20:30Speaker 1: Like in your brain you're like, I can't fall asleep.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I can't fall asleep and love my boy? What are
- 20:34Speaker 1: you thinking about? Fucking love my boy? Why do you
- 20:36Speaker 1: love your boy because he's got my back and you
- 20:40Speaker 1: can't let him down.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I can't let him down. Do you think that's gonna
- 20:43Speaker 2: get me through?
- 20:43Speaker 1: It's a sacrifice mentality. You're going to slip up like
- 20:47Speaker 1: those things might happen. But you've fallen asleep when you
- 20:51Speaker 1: know you're carrying, you're holding your little girl, and you
- 20:53Speaker 1: know you just have to self talk. You look, Losers react,
- 20:57Speaker 1: Winners anticipate. You have to anticipate that these bad nights
- 21:01Speaker 1: are going to happen, and you have to have you
- 21:04Speaker 1: have to have like some rolodecks going on in your head,
- 21:06Speaker 1: whether it's quotes, whether it's little reminders of self talk
- 21:09Speaker 1: that you're gonna have to lean on when these moments
- 21:11Speaker 1: a right, because you're gonna be upset. There'll be times
- 21:13Speaker 1: where I'll be holding Rue and she's not going down,
- 21:15Speaker 1: and it's three in the morning, and I'm, you know,
- 21:19Speaker 1: upset that it's my turn and I gotta get out
- 21:21Speaker 1: of bed to go to go put Rue back down,
- 21:23Speaker 1: and she's not wanting to go to bed. And there'll
- 21:24Speaker 1: be times when I'm just like, you just have to
- 21:26Speaker 1: move to sleep, And in those moments, you just you
- 21:30Speaker 1: have to catch yourself and remind yourself that I don't know,
- 21:36Speaker 1: nobody's coming to save you, and only you're gonna get
- 21:39Speaker 1: your You're only you're gonna get yourself out of this mess.
- 21:43Speaker 1: And you might be staying up for another hour or so,
- 21:45Speaker 1: and that sucks, but you just gotta know and you
- 21:48Speaker 1: have to embrace that suck, because look, when we're old,
- 21:53Speaker 1: we're about to die, and shit, we're gonna wish we
- 21:57Speaker 1: were in those trenches again. Because they're gonna get older,
- 22:00Speaker 1: they're gonna be teaching us stuff when they're adults. And
- 22:03Speaker 1: you're gonna you're just gonna sit back and think time
- 22:05Speaker 1: has flown by and it's felt like a blink of
- 22:07Speaker 1: an eye, and you'll wish you're just back in those
- 22:09Speaker 1: trenches trying to put them down to sleep because you
- 22:11Speaker 1: just miss you miss those moments because they're fleeting. But
- 22:15Speaker 1: those are the things you gotta lean on when you're
- 22:18Speaker 1: just at war. You're gonna crush it. It's not about
- 22:21Speaker 1: being perfect. It's just about showing up. It's about taking
- 22:24Speaker 1: those l's on the chin and know that you're in
- 22:26Speaker 1: the middle of taking an l. Maybe you're able to
- 22:28Speaker 1: muster up a little laugh, a little laughter. Maybe you
- 22:31Speaker 1: just throw in the old podcast before the dads, that's
- 22:33Speaker 1: what I'm saying, and reflect back on this podcast. Maybe
- 22:36Speaker 1: you just drop me a little voice message at nighttime, like, hey, sucker,
- 22:39Speaker 1: if you're sleeping right now, you feel pretty good that
- 22:43Speaker 1: your kids are sleeping through the night. But I want
- 22:46Speaker 1: you to know I'm in hell. Well, I'm and I
- 22:49Speaker 1: hope you're I hope your sound is on, so this
- 22:52Speaker 1: might have a chance of waking your punk ass up.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I just want you to know I hope magging it up.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna call you get I gotta I Okay.
- 23:02Speaker 2: In defense of myself, I'm not so worried about the trenches.
- 23:07Speaker 2: It's about like the the next day. That's what I'm
- 23:10Speaker 2: worried about, like performing, like being at my best offen
- 23:16Speaker 2: because I know I'm not going to sleep, but I
- 23:19Speaker 2: just know myself on like light sleep and I'm like, dude,
- 23:22Speaker 2: I gotta get like good at that.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And that was my New Year's resolution. Yeah.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Last year was like owning the mornings, like owning that
- 23:31Speaker 2: routine and just like I don't know, I want to
- 23:34Speaker 2: be able to like rock it in the mornings, make
- 23:36Speaker 2: Jill's mornings easy, get the formula going, get the you know,
- 23:40Speaker 2: doing the dishes, and shit, I just know myself on.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Write it down, bro, Yeah, write these upcoming potential losses down.
- 23:49Speaker 1: And when it's when it's happening, you just got to
- 23:53Speaker 1: have you know, if it's if it's uh, waking up
- 23:56Speaker 1: before Jill, if it's having this stuff ready before Jill
- 23:58Speaker 1: gets out of bed, whatever it is, it's just how
- 24:01Speaker 1: can you remind yourself that this is the standard I
- 24:03Speaker 1: wrote out? How can I stick to this and just
- 24:07Speaker 1: nobody's coming coming to save me? Yeah, that's just the mentality.
- 24:11Speaker 1: You have to anticipate all of it, and when it's coming,
- 24:13Speaker 1: you can't react and be shocked because when you're reacting,
- 24:16Speaker 1: then you're in your feelings. You're in your emotions and
- 24:18Speaker 1: lean on your boy. No, dude, I'll check you. Yeah,
- 24:22Speaker 1: I need to lean on my boy. Uh.
- 24:24Speaker 2: This week, I've had a ton of dudes shout out Ruben,
- 24:27Speaker 2: shout out Dylan, shout out geartt like a ton of
- 24:29Speaker 2: my personal friends reaching out, sending text messages, calling me,
- 24:35Speaker 2: shout out.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Calling.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Like, you know, really pouring in and being like, dude,
- 24:40Speaker 2: how are you, how's it going?
- 24:43Speaker 1: So that does me in ton.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I love that Jill's mom like showed up early because
- 24:47Speaker 2: it's already got me in, like you got to impress
- 24:50Speaker 2: the mother in law. And I'm in like full dad
- 24:52Speaker 2: mode around the house like there's not a thing out
- 24:55Speaker 2: of order because I'm you know, make sure we're getting
- 24:58Speaker 2: dinner for make sure that yard.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I did a extra weed eating.
- 25:00Speaker 2: That didn't even need to be done, but like mother
- 25:03Speaker 2: in law's in town, you gotta weed eat.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Yeah, man, listen, you just gotta have Jocko willink in
- 25:11Speaker 1: the back of your head when something's going wrong. Good.
- 25:15Speaker 1: When you're feeling sleepy, you only got two hours of sleep. Good,
- 25:20Speaker 1: get my ass out of bed. When the baby's not
- 25:22Speaker 1: going down and you're on duty, good, you might think Jill,
- 25:27Speaker 1: she she took a little walk. Maybe she's going something
- 25:29Speaker 1: to take care of herself. Right, and you think the
- 25:31Speaker 1: kid's gonna go down. Okay, here's a three hour window
- 25:33Speaker 1: that they get to sleep. Maybe I can close my eyes.
- 25:35Speaker 1: They don't go to sleep, you don't get your nap.
- 25:37Speaker 1: You gotta think good. I'm covered in shit. Yes, good?
- 25:43Speaker 1: Shit on me? More good? Bombing on me? I dare you?
- 25:51Speaker 1: Oh you danger dip? Oh you shit again? I fucking
- 25:53Speaker 1: love your enthusiasm. Oh good, I'll change your I'll change
- 25:58Speaker 1: that shit again. Type your dress. Kids overflowd Good. Wife's
- 26:03Speaker 1: yelling at you because there's a rash now in the
- 26:05Speaker 1: baby's ass because you wiped it so hard because you
- 26:07Speaker 1: were pissed off. Good, be softer, put the cream on afterwards.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Dogs are pissed off because they're getting less attention, so
- 26:15Speaker 2: they're starting to pee on step so you finally pay
- 26:17Speaker 2: attention to them.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Good. Kid finally goes down, dog wakes up. They're making
- 26:22Speaker 1: a lot of loud noise wakes the baby up. You
- 26:24Speaker 1: go to chase the dog to give it a little
- 26:26Speaker 1: to give it a little discipline. Dog outruns you, runs
- 26:29Speaker 1: outside out the front door. Can't get the dog. You
- 26:32Speaker 1: gotta go chase him on the road. You can't find him.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Good good, You gotta embrace the suck term. It is
- 26:39Speaker 1: gonna happen. I know you got those dogs and the
- 26:41Speaker 1: terms always yelling at me at the front door. Keep
- 26:43Speaker 1: them in, keep them in. I hope those dogs out
- 26:49Speaker 1: run your ass too, And they do, and you're piss off.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I just and think of me. I'm ready, and don't
- 26:56Speaker 1: you dare send the text in you can't show up
- 26:58Speaker 1: before the dads because I'm just gonna say, hey, this
- 27:00Speaker 1: is what we prepared for. No good, good, get your
- 27:03Speaker 1: bunk ass in here.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I'm gonna be on that bus. Yeah every Monday. Yeah,
- 27:08Speaker 2: I gotta be here for for the dad's.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Good. Good. Let me get to my dad loss because
- 27:15Speaker 1: we gotta keep this saying under an hour we're dirty. No,
- 27:21Speaker 1: I felt like five minutes. That's perfect because we're in
- 27:25Speaker 1: our my themes are gonna be around you and having
- 27:30Speaker 1: your first kid. My dad loss is essentially it's gonna
- 27:33Speaker 1: stem from this quote. Don't try to fix your partner's
- 27:37Speaker 1: labor pain. Just nod support and seek out what else
- 27:42Speaker 1: you can do. Stay north of the wall, and what
- 27:44Speaker 1: I mean by north of the wall, north of the
- 27:45Speaker 1: curtain unless you want to see the full experience from
- 27:48Speaker 1: the other side. Yeah, however, don't try to fix your
- 27:51Speaker 1: partner's labor pain. I made that mistake. I talked about
- 27:54Speaker 1: it on a show not too maybe our first episode
- 27:57Speaker 1: or second episode. Yeah, yeah, where we had a birth
- 27:59Speaker 1: plan at all, went to ship. Everything on the birthplane
- 28:01Speaker 1: went to ship, and she was She was like, hey,
- 28:04Speaker 1: it's time to go see section I might say, sweetheart,
- 28:06Speaker 1: a sea plasure. It seems like you're kind of giving up.
- 28:09Speaker 1: You're quitting the fucking glare she had in her I
- 28:13Speaker 1: don't give a fuck if you think I'm giving up.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Did she say that? Is something like that? It was blurry,
- 28:20Speaker 1: It got a little spinny, sweetheart, Do you need me
- 28:24Speaker 1: to stay rocky about boel mentality? Right now? I'm thinking
- 28:27Speaker 1: this is what you wanted me for. No, it wasn't.
- 28:30Speaker 1: But my dad loss is just around the just a
- 28:33Speaker 1: lesson of don't try to fix your partner's labor pain. Yeah,
- 28:37Speaker 1: you're gonna be in it. It's gonna be an experience.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Excited to hear about it. But don't tell me too
- 28:42Speaker 1: much if you know what I mean. Let's get into
- 28:45Speaker 1: a crack a Cold one, some positivity. Oh yes, what
- 28:50Speaker 1: do you got? You got? You got cold one right there? Oh?

- 30:09Speaker 2: I'm I'm so just messed up over like all this
- 30:15Speaker 2: in a good way. Yeah, I would say my thing
- 30:19Speaker 2: that is like my true crack of cole One is
- 30:22Speaker 2: just like the thought of Like Jill said that her
- 30:28Speaker 2: moment that she's been looking forward to the most in
- 30:31Speaker 2: our relationship is seeing me holding Scarlet. She didn't have
- 30:36Speaker 2: a dad for majority of her childhood, and dude, I'm
- 30:44Speaker 2: so stoked to like, uh be everything that she thinks
- 30:52Speaker 2: I can be to our daughter. I can't wait to
- 30:59Speaker 2: hold That's why Crackna get.
- 31:04Speaker 1: A little down. Hey, you cry like a bitch, though
- 31:09Speaker 1: I cry like a bitch. We're all such ugly. Cry
- 31:14Speaker 1: like a bitch. I gotta break it up with your talk.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You cry like a bitch. Stop crying. You're making me cry, Papa, Si, No, no,
- 31:27Speaker 1: don't cry now. Actually yeah we do, We do all
- 31:29Speaker 1: the time. Oh my crack, a cold one is going
- 31:35Speaker 1: to be getting one up on your wife. This isn't
- 31:42Speaker 1: this isn't about fatherhood. I'm gonna set that aside for
- 31:45Speaker 1: a second. But every Sunday, my my my wife, she
- 31:50Speaker 1: as you guys know, she operates, she runs. She owns
- 31:53Speaker 1: the Bar three studios here in Nashville. So if you're
- 31:55Speaker 1: looking for a little sweat, Bar three, so she'll teach,
- 31:59Speaker 1: she'll spot teach throughout the week. But usually she runs
- 32:01Speaker 1: a couple of classes on Sunday, So it's usually you know,
- 32:04Speaker 1: Daddy Daughter Day on Sunday mornings. And you know how
- 32:08Speaker 1: I'm the guy who's forgetful Lilily last week, shit me
- 32:12Speaker 1: with shit me with just having to remind me to
- 32:16Speaker 1: do you know, a lot of different things. It'd be
- 32:18Speaker 1: nice if I can think on my feet and think
- 32:20Speaker 1: ahead a little bit. She's she's not wrong. I get that.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Every week, yeah, yeah, every week. Yeah, But she's been
- 32:29Speaker 1: on a run now to where she's forgotten the car base,
- 32:31Speaker 1: the car seat base a few weekends in a row,
- 32:35Speaker 1: and when I'm going to take the kiddos somewhere and
- 32:37Speaker 1: the car seat base isn't sitting out in the garage
- 32:39Speaker 1: to where I can put it in my truck. And
- 32:40Speaker 1: then we got Scottie. I know people are thinking, oh,
- 32:42Speaker 1: we need a couple of car bases, why don't you
- 32:43Speaker 1: have more than one? We do, the nanny has the
- 32:46Speaker 1: other one, and we just kind of we kind of
- 32:47Speaker 1: mix up what happens. But for those people, shut up.
- 32:50Speaker 1: This is this is this is my moment right now. Well,
- 32:54Speaker 1: she forgot that base, and I just got to send
- 32:56Speaker 1: a text, Hey, sweetheart, you forgot the base again, just
- 33:00Speaker 1: letting you know. And I'm kind of smiling behind my
- 33:02Speaker 1: phone because i know when she reads it, she already said,
- 33:05Speaker 1: looks like I'm the one that has to get reminded
- 33:07Speaker 1: now because there's something that's like and it shouldn't but
- 33:13Speaker 1: it elats my soul when I'm like, you get them
- 33:15Speaker 1: on something that they just beat you to the ground
- 33:17Speaker 1: four at times, and you just you beat yourself down
- 33:19Speaker 1: to the ground because you're like you stupid idiot who
- 33:22Speaker 1: has CT brain and everything else. You can't remember to
- 33:25Speaker 1: do these little things. But it was nice. So my
- 33:30Speaker 1: kraikacle was just getting one up, getting one up on
- 33:32Speaker 1: the old wife.
- 33:33Speaker 2: That's the best feeling in the entire world. Whenever I
- 33:37Speaker 2: find some of Jill's clothes, I hit her with the
- 33:40Speaker 2: is that where this goes? Because that's why I get
- 33:42Speaker 2: hit with every time he needs a home. Oh yeah,
- 33:45Speaker 2: and that's usually I get a slug in the shoulder
- 33:48Speaker 2: or something. It doesn't go over well, yeah, but I
- 33:50Speaker 2: do have to remind her. I'm like, hey, is that
- 33:52Speaker 2: where that goes?
- 33:53Speaker 1: Yeah? I don't think so.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Also, an awesome comment that we got at oh that made.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Me think not to shift the energy. Okay, losing them,
- 34:09Speaker 1: losing them, losing Sam, keep it under an hour.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Sam reached out and he said, hey, for the dads
- 34:15Speaker 2: that love the pod and their wives want to listen
- 34:17Speaker 2: to while they're listening, we one episode should do thirty
- 34:21Speaker 2: minutes of just glazing the wives so that the husbands
- 34:24Speaker 2: can be like, honey, this is the show I've been
- 34:27Speaker 2: listening to, you know, that show that I've been telling
- 34:29Speaker 2: you about. For the dads, it's teaching me to be
- 34:30Speaker 2: a great dad. Check this thing out first thirty minutes.
- 34:34Speaker 2: We're just glazing the wives.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I don't hate that at all. I don't either, because
- 34:40Speaker 1: they deserve most to shine.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Yeah they do, they do. But I thought that was
- 34:46Speaker 2: a great comment. Yeah, chef said, we should put a
- 34:58Speaker 2: code word in the title to let know this.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Is one that Hey, if you're if you feel like
- 35:02Speaker 1: your wife might be on the fence for just a
- 35:05Speaker 1: dad community bitching about our own shit. Well, they're thinking
- 35:08Speaker 1: about planing it out the entire week. What are we
- 35:10Speaker 1: eating this week? Here's what here's the shopping list, here's
- 35:13Speaker 1: all the ingredients we gotta get. We gotta make sure
- 35:15Speaker 1: dinner's on the table for everybody. Like sweet, we can't
- 35:17Speaker 1: just you can't just run and gun. No, that answer
- 35:21Speaker 1: is no, you got to be prepared. And uh yeah,
- 35:25Speaker 1: well yeah, the moms do need the moms do need shine.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I would moms do have shine.
- 35:30Speaker 2: They have shine. They're the superheroes. Will say that we
- 35:33Speaker 2: know that we are inferior.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Yes, pains me to say, because I just want to
- 35:38Speaker 1: run up my stats, change a couple of diapers. You know,
- 35:42Speaker 1: what was your list that you knocked out Uh, you're
- 35:45Speaker 1: talking about the one that went uh this weekend, oh
- 35:48Speaker 1: this weekend. Yeah, yeah, I was talking about big Dad Day,
- 35:51Speaker 1: Massive Dad Day, changing filters, taking a outdoor furniture to
- 35:57Speaker 1: a drop off, hide and seek with rue. But you
- 36:02Speaker 1: know that's a that's a heavy day right there. For
- 36:04Speaker 1: that's a heavy day. Yeah, I I I love, I
- 36:08Speaker 1: love messing around with that stuff.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, And I sent this message to somebody. I
- 36:12Speaker 2: can't find it, but I said, if for the Dad's
- 36:15Speaker 2: was a treehouse, there's no sign on the outside of
- 36:18Speaker 2: it that says like no girls.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Allowed, No dude, we have we have wives and moms
- 36:22Speaker 1: like in the comments, Oh for sure enjoy this so far,
- 36:24Speaker 1: which was I guess surprising because I'm thinking, like, you know,
- 36:28Speaker 1: this would be some some good dad fund, some good
- 36:30Speaker 1: dad banta. Let's hope the wives don't really tune in
- 36:32Speaker 1: a whole lot because this ship you're listening to, you
- 36:35Speaker 1: think you got a hard live buddy bucco. What does
- 36:39Speaker 1: it mean to have your heart turned black? Honey? That's concerning. Yeah, honey,
- 36:45Speaker 1: you don't get it. Oh they're complained about this. Oh man,
- 36:50Speaker 1: I love it though. We by the way, we are
- 36:52Speaker 1: going to have, We'll be having our wives on. We'll
- 36:56Speaker 1: love to get God. That would be hilarious. We'd love
- 36:59Speaker 1: to do collaborative podcast Yeah, because again we love the
- 37:02Speaker 1: band around, locker room talk. Make it about the dads,
- 37:05Speaker 1: grow the community.
- 37:08Speaker 2: That would be a ton of fun to collab with
- 37:10Speaker 2: some mom podcasts.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be hilarious.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Just see them pick us apart? I would love it.
- 37:16Speaker 2: I would sit there and take notes of.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Pick us apart. We'd we'd have our own offense. We
- 37:23Speaker 1: would we would bring some stuf to but secretly would
- 37:25Speaker 1: be what'd you say? Was what we do? Yeah? But yeah,
- 37:31Speaker 1: I love that. That was your Cracker col One? Yeah,
- 37:34Speaker 1: that was my Cracker cold one. Okay, cool. We want
- 37:36Speaker 1: to spit into what are the odds? Yes? Uh this
- 37:39Speaker 1: What are the Odds is really badass. Shout out Fandel
- 37:42Speaker 1: sports book.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Shout out Fandel sportsbook. We have this one came from
- 37:46Speaker 2: Dean Nielsen, So what are the odds?
- 37:50Speaker 1: From Dean Nielsen.
- 37:53Speaker 2: His son Robbie, was given a less than one percent
- 37:58Speaker 2: chance to survive and spent seven days in the neek
- 38:02Speaker 2: you when his wife's placenta ruptured. He provided some pictures
- 38:08Speaker 2: of his kid on the bed fighting for his life.
- 38:12Speaker 2: He said, my wife went from role playing on how
- 38:16Speaker 2: we're going to explain to our three year old daughter
- 38:20Speaker 2: that brother went to heaven to now having a miracle boy.
- 38:24Speaker 2: We're celebrating his first birthday on six thirteen, so that's
- 38:29Speaker 2: in the past now, right, Yeah, June thirteenth, So Robbie
- 38:33Speaker 2: had his first first birthday. He's a thousand percent of
- 38:37Speaker 2: getting in the credits. It's him at a baseball game.
- 38:41Speaker 2: He said, this story is meant to remind the dads,
- 38:43Speaker 2: no matter how hard things get, to remind yourself how
- 38:46Speaker 2: lucky we are to have our kids and to be dads.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Not a day goes.
- 38:50Speaker 2: By where I don't think about what my little dude
- 38:53Speaker 2: battled through and him now he'll have the best pregame
- 38:58Speaker 2: speech that you can ever have, which I just love
- 39:02Speaker 2: that idea of you know, being told less than one
- 39:06Speaker 2: percent chance and just beating the odds. So the what
- 39:10Speaker 2: are the odds? This week goes to Robbie Nielsen that
- 39:13Speaker 2: just celebrated his first birthday.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Shout out Robbie, dude, do I could not imagine less
- 39:24Speaker 1: than one being told there's essentially a less than a
- 39:27Speaker 1: one percent chance and your kids fighting the nick you
- 39:30Speaker 1: and you're trying to think of stories to tell the
- 39:36Speaker 1: other one.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I read that first thing. When I woke
- 39:41Speaker 2: up e DM me this morning. I had tears of
- 39:43Speaker 2: eyes before I even got out of bed, and I
- 39:45Speaker 2: knew that we had this episode and you were probably
- 39:47Speaker 2: gonna cook up something that would make me cry. I
- 39:50Speaker 2: would probably say some shit that would make me cry.
- 39:52Speaker 2: So I was just like, oh God, this is just
- 39:54Speaker 2: gonna be ugly.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I'll tell you what Dad's emotions are on the fence.
- 39:58Speaker 1: I feel like at all times, especially when stories like that,
- 40:01Speaker 1: like it's hard to watch movies now involving like very
- 40:06Speaker 1: sensitive moments and I'm not thinking about my daughters, you
- 40:10Speaker 1: know what I mean? Oh yeah, it's ah we're sensitive, man.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah. I just can't.
- 40:17Speaker 2: I literally cannot wait for the day because Robbie looks
- 40:20Speaker 2: like he'd be a little mic linebacker, just ready to
- 40:23Speaker 2: get in the egg gap. Oh dude, and his halftime
- 40:25Speaker 2: speech when they're down three tuddies.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I didn't the egg gap, but life, they gave me
- 40:30Speaker 1: less than one percent.
- 40:32Speaker 2: One percent, dude, that room's gonna be silent. They're gonna
- 40:37Speaker 2: talk about the day Robbie dropped that halftime speech, and
- 40:40Speaker 2: they came back out and beat that ass, came back
- 40:43Speaker 2: down three touchdowns.
- 40:45Speaker 1: It's just electric. Dude, who sent that again? That was
- 40:48Speaker 1: Dean Nielsen shut out, Dean man. That's uh. I'm fired
- 40:54Speaker 1: up that you celebrated the first birthday. And I can't
- 40:57Speaker 1: imagine the fear that you and your wife had, yeah,
- 41:01Speaker 1: a year ago. Truly could not imagine. It's crazy. There
- 41:06Speaker 1: was even something like rue was in the nicke you
- 41:08Speaker 1: for seven days. I think, Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah,
- 41:12Speaker 1: when she when she got delivered, she had uh it
- 41:17Speaker 1: was essentially she had swallowed like I forget what the
- 41:20Speaker 1: word the term that they used, but like her own shit.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Essentially it's like melconium or oh yeah, and that's like
- 41:26Speaker 1: kind of that's common, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not.
- 41:28Speaker 1: It's not like an uncommon thing. But you sit there
- 41:31Speaker 1: and like you you cut the cord and everything else,
- 41:33Speaker 1: and you wouldn't hold her. But they got to take
- 41:34Speaker 1: her back pretty quickly, pretty swiftly to like, you know,
- 41:37Speaker 1: get her going to help her lungs and everything else.
- 41:40Speaker 1: But just in the spot to where you were at
- 41:43Speaker 1: the hospital for a week and it's only like visiting time.
- 41:46Speaker 1: This was like during COVID too, so you can only
- 41:47Speaker 1: like it can only be you and one other person
- 41:49Speaker 1: just going back and visiting her and spending time with
- 41:52Speaker 1: her to like breastfeed and try to hold her and
- 41:55Speaker 1: do skin on skin and then like going going home
- 41:58Speaker 1: and basically just sleeping her knowing that your baby's not
- 42:01Speaker 1: home yet. Like that was. That was tough at times
- 42:03Speaker 1: for myself in CHARROI, but I could not imagine and
- 42:07Speaker 1: being in that situation right there. I know there's just
- 42:09Speaker 1: so many that you hear about that. Just give your
- 42:11Speaker 1: self perspective on shit can just be. Stuff can be
- 42:15Speaker 1: way worse. Situations can be way worse. Circumstances could be
- 42:17Speaker 1: way worse.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, counting your blessings in general. And as you
- 42:22Speaker 2: were talking, I was like, since we're throwing out merch
- 42:25Speaker 2: like popsicles, Dean needs some merch. I'll get his address.
- 42:30Speaker 1: We gotta we gotta keep it rolling because we gotta
- 42:32Speaker 1: keep this under an hour. What are we at Chef two?
- 42:40Speaker 1: We're moving and grooving.
- 42:41Speaker 2: We are kind of moving and grooving. We're gonna lose
- 42:44Speaker 2: subscribers though, if we go under an hour, they said
- 42:48Speaker 2: the unsubscribed.
- 42:49Speaker 1: They might, but I feel like the Hey the Fatherhood
- 42:53Speaker 1: or pop A Team six being a part of that crew,
- 42:55Speaker 1: I think that's kind of hard to unsubscribe from. That's true.
- 42:58Speaker 1: They're just trying to scare that we do one thing,
- 43:03Speaker 1: that one thing that we do need because you know,
- 43:07Speaker 1: boys will be boys with their phones and not spreading
- 43:10Speaker 1: the good word. But we need you guys to hit
- 43:12Speaker 1: your dad group chats, help get this brand, Help get
- 43:15Speaker 1: these episodes out to your friends, anybody that you think
- 43:18Speaker 1: would enjoy this, because that's kind of how you help.
- 43:20Speaker 1: That's how we all help grow a brand organically. So
- 43:24Speaker 1: that's a big call to action that we need from
- 43:26Speaker 1: the boys from the from the Boys in the Fatherhood
- 43:29Speaker 1: or from the Papa Seles and Papa Team six. Again,
- 43:32Speaker 1: we'll leave that name up, that name up for debate
- 43:35Speaker 1: with our audience, see how they feel. But help spread
- 43:37Speaker 1: the word. Let's spread the good word about the this
- 43:39Speaker 1: new show. Survival kit. You may rip this one off, Yeah,
- 43:45Speaker 1: my survival kit again. Theming around yourself and that if
- 43:49Speaker 1: you're a new dad first week, maybe something your wife
- 43:51Speaker 1: might not be privy to. Maybe you're in trimester one,
- 43:54Speaker 1: try mester two and you're just starting to kind of
- 43:56Speaker 1: dive into the tricks of the trade. But if you
- 43:59Speaker 1: bring this to your wife, she'll be thinking, Oh, he's
- 44:01Speaker 1: on his toes, he's diving in he's thinking about stuff
- 44:03Speaker 1: like this. So my survival kid is apps to track feedings.
- 44:09Speaker 1: I know my wife and I we use the OVA
- 44:11Speaker 1: parenting app. There's also pump Blog, there's also milk Maid.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And again that might be like a small simple thing
- 44:19Speaker 1: like yeah, of course you need to like track your feedings.
- 44:21Speaker 1: But I'm telling you, it's such a world that you
- 44:25Speaker 1: don't know what's what what to think about. Oh, we're
- 44:28Speaker 1: putting this in the backpack, Oh we need this for
- 44:31Speaker 1: going to the hospital. She's putting stuff in the backpack
- 44:33Speaker 1: or by so hey can you go grab that? And
- 44:34Speaker 1: you're just thinking, how did we get to this point
- 44:36Speaker 1: to where it looks like we're traveling for a vaca,
- 44:38Speaker 1: a three day vacation going into the hospital. But the
- 44:41Speaker 1: smallest things matter. The smallest things matter. And gentlemen, if
- 44:45Speaker 1: you're thinking on your toes, and it hasn't been brought
- 44:47Speaker 1: to light yet, but just something like of a you
- 44:50Speaker 1: bringing something to the table that's like, hey, if we
- 44:52Speaker 1: thought about an app, she might look at you a
- 44:54Speaker 1: little crazy, but it's a thought that counts, Like she'll
- 44:56Speaker 1: probably think, of course, I've I have an app on
- 44:59Speaker 1: my phone that's been trying X, Y and Z the
- 45:00Speaker 1: whole time, just telling you, but doing a little research
- 45:03Speaker 1: on my own. But mine's gonna be apps to track
- 45:07Speaker 1: your feedings, because that was big time at first I
- 45:10Speaker 1: was doing it. I had a whole structure on whiteboard.
- 45:14Speaker 1: You know I'm a big whiteboard Yeah, yeah, yeah. And
- 45:16Speaker 1: I spent an hour trying to put this whiteboard together
- 45:21Speaker 1: and I went to show Chorro and she came out
- 45:23Speaker 1: to the garage to see it, and I was like,
- 45:25Speaker 1: you know, the ounces, the what else is it? The
- 45:32Speaker 1: ounces if you're still breastfeeding left boob, right boob, the
- 45:35Speaker 1: minutes in each one to where if you're breastfeeding, it's
- 45:38Speaker 1: kind of hard to track how much that they're actually getting.
- 45:41Speaker 1: And I put this whole thing together on a whiteboard
- 45:43Speaker 1: and she was just like, yeah, I mean, they give
- 45:46Speaker 1: us we have an app that we can do this on.
- 45:48Speaker 1: I just took the air right out of my balloon.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Gonna give me a little pat like I love that
- 45:53Speaker 1: you're thinking about this stuff.
- 45:55Speaker 2: She definitely appreciated it though, and that you have the
- 45:58Speaker 2: physical manifest state of the white board. Yeah, she saw
- 46:02Speaker 2: the work that you put into and you might think
- 46:04Speaker 2: it's dumb and not needed. Maybe your wife is just
- 46:08Speaker 2: doing it and you're not necessarily thinking about her. She
- 46:09Speaker 2: might ask you what times you feed her, how long
- 46:11Speaker 2: was it or how much.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Did she have And you might be coming off a
- 46:15Speaker 1: long nap and forgetting, forgetting some of that because there's
- 46:19Speaker 1: so much information that goes. I mean, you're this this
- 46:21Speaker 1: thing's eating now several times throughout the day and you
- 46:25Speaker 1: might not remember. But just plugging it in on the app,
- 46:28Speaker 1: I'm telling you it helps you. It helps you track everything,
- 46:31Speaker 1: remember everything, because you'll be surprised how easily that you
- 46:34Speaker 1: can forget. And after a long night and she's like, hey,
- 46:37Speaker 1: you know, how much did you feed her? How much
- 46:39Speaker 1: was this? And you're kind of like, I think it
- 46:40Speaker 1: was between two and three? What was it? Two? Was
- 46:42Speaker 1: it three? I don't know. I thought she did this
- 46:44Speaker 1: it was around this time. I can't remember which time.
- 46:46Speaker 1: I'm telling you. The apps, the apps that can definitely help.
- 46:49Speaker 2: I have I have a question because we're going to
- 46:50Speaker 2: try and breastfeed if like, do you have to wake up.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Jill as you can't breastfeed? Sure? Well, but like could
- 46:59Speaker 1: she stay asleep? We're gonna try to breastfeed. Can she
- 47:03Speaker 1: stay asleep? I know that's some weird Yeah. I think
- 47:06Speaker 1: they call it like dream feeding, so you can't do that. Yeah.
- 47:11Speaker 1: So Charle was big on not wanting the baby in
- 47:15Speaker 1: the room. So I want to say, what's the little
- 47:18Speaker 1: thing of basting that Yeah, yeah, bascinet that would sit
- 47:20Speaker 1: by the bed. I want to say Rue was in
- 47:22Speaker 1: the room for maybe two nights tops. But Charle was
- 47:25Speaker 1: really big on separating the our room being our room,
- 47:29Speaker 1: and then Rue just getting her as acclimated, doesn't matter
- 47:33Speaker 1: how early it is, like to her room and knowing
- 47:35Speaker 1: that these are her surroundings when she goes to bed
- 47:36Speaker 1: every night. Yeah, so Charle was big on not having
- 47:39Speaker 1: the baby in the room. I know a lot of
- 47:40Speaker 1: people will sleep they'll sleep with the baby so that
- 47:42Speaker 1: way they can just roll over, slip the nip in.
- 47:45Speaker 1: They'll be in the baths and that next right next
- 47:47Speaker 1: to the bed, so they can get out feed them.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Maybe they leave the room, maybe not. Maybe they have
- 47:51Speaker 1: a little chair or a little room set up for feedings,
- 47:54Speaker 1: like in a baby's room. So everybody's different. There's no
- 47:57Speaker 1: right or wrong way. But the way we did it
- 47:59Speaker 1: is Charlie would just we would be on this schedule
- 48:03Speaker 1: because I want to say, they you know, they feed
- 48:06Speaker 1: and they sleep for you're hoping that stretches for three
- 48:08Speaker 1: hours at a time before they wake up and want
- 48:10Speaker 1: to feed again. And she would just go upstairs. She
- 48:14Speaker 1: would just go upstairs the Rue's room and feed because
- 48:17Speaker 1: we had the little monitor. You know, you swallow their
- 48:18Speaker 1: little ass up, tuck them in tight so their arms
- 48:21Speaker 1: can't get out, but you can't get on the swaddle game.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Watch some videos. Yeah, they'll teach you the hospital, but
- 48:25Speaker 1: watch videos because again you'll forget. And we just watch
- 48:29Speaker 1: them monitors. So whenever we hear, charl would go up
- 48:32Speaker 1: to feeder and Charlie would also pump, so we also
- 48:34Speaker 1: had bottles. I forget how early we started doing the
- 48:37Speaker 1: the pumping. Maybe early, I don't know, I can't remember.
- 48:41Speaker 1: So that way, if I was on watch, if I
- 48:42Speaker 1: was on the night's watch then and these were my hours,
- 48:45Speaker 1: say eleven pm, two am, is what I'm trying to
- 48:48Speaker 1: hit with Rue. Yeah, I would just out here, wake up,
- 48:53Speaker 1: I'd go get the I'd go warm up some milk,
- 48:55Speaker 1: and then I would go up there and feeder. But
- 48:57Speaker 1: we would do all the feedings like in her room. Okay,
- 49:00Speaker 1: that's answer your question. Yes, say she was in a
- 49:02Speaker 1: basinet next to you. Yeah, she's breastfeeding and it's all
- 49:05Speaker 1: her doing it. There's no pumping or anything involved. Yes,
- 49:07Speaker 1: she'd be able to take the baby baby feeds. I'm
- 49:11Speaker 1: sure they both fall asleep their dream feeding is what
- 49:13Speaker 1: they call it. And I just sit there.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I make sure you know she's not rolling over blah
- 49:18Speaker 2: blah blah like okay, I and.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Oh buddy, I'm you're sitting there. I gotta stay up
- 49:24Speaker 1: right now. I'm just gonna be like I'm gonna be
- 49:26Speaker 1: so nervous. See, I asked to go to sleep, Like, hey, sooner,
- 49:30Speaker 1: can I just fall back to sleep? What do you
- 49:31Speaker 1: need from me right now? It seems like it seems
- 49:33Speaker 1: like there's a one man job.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're the one feeding her, I'm not really
- 49:37Speaker 2: feeding I. That's interesting with the bassinet too, because she
- 49:41Speaker 2: was talking about we're gonna have it in the room,
- 49:44Speaker 2: but I don't know for how long.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Dude, it's it's it's your own parade. I'll ask her
- 49:50Speaker 1: that I feel like an asshole given like unsolicited advice
- 49:53Speaker 1: because it's not like my unsolicited anything, because all we've
- 49:56Speaker 1: done is like how how we go about it, and
- 49:58Speaker 1: it's like people do a lot of differferent things. So,
- 50:01Speaker 1: got a buddy of mine is kids still sleep So
- 50:03Speaker 1: I think he's eight years old. I'm just kidding. It's
- 50:11Speaker 1: we're joking here, joking. We can't tell movie quotes on
- 50:14Speaker 1: the show.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Oh my god, for my he's a grown man.
- 50:22Speaker 1: He's still sleep with the twenty one years old?
- 50:26Speaker 2: No, no, you're fine right now. For my survival kid,
- 50:30Speaker 2: I have the douna because it's my first baby. God,
- 50:40Speaker 2: I blank so hard. It's like my first baby equipment
- 50:43Speaker 2: that I've dealt with, and I went into it thinking
- 50:46Speaker 2: this doing the thing is gonna be a whole ordeal
- 50:49Speaker 2: to put it into my car and a.
- 50:51Speaker 1: You're talking about the little car seat, yes, the little
- 50:53Speaker 1: like the actual the base the base Yeah, yep, so easy.
- 51:00Speaker 1: You have a duna. I know, I think you have.
- 51:04Speaker 2: A nuna related not related, two separate things. We have
- 51:09Speaker 2: both a duna and a nuna. The Nuna and correct
- 51:13Speaker 2: me if I'm wrong. Dad's at home supports a like
- 51:17Speaker 2: wider range of weight for the carrier. The Duna is
- 51:24Speaker 2: more of like your newborn. It's kind of lighter, it's
- 51:27Speaker 2: kind of smaller. It's it's for a newborn baby. And
- 51:31Speaker 2: so I was putting the Duna base into the car.
- 51:35Speaker 2: It was the easiest thing in the entire world. It
- 51:37Speaker 2: was incredible.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Base are crazy. You just connect those little metal things. Yes,
- 51:41Speaker 1: in the seat. That makes sense now I know the command.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Then you just put the car seat on top, clicks in. Yes. Fascinating.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Oh dude.
- 51:48Speaker 2: I looked like an absolute hero when I put that
- 51:51Speaker 2: into my car. Jill was like, oh, do you get
- 51:54Speaker 2: it already? I said, yeah, where's your base. I'll put
- 51:56Speaker 2: it in your car too, just acted like it was
- 51:58Speaker 2: this whole thing. I was putting it in there, came
- 52:00Speaker 2: back in, Hey, yours is yours?
- 52:02Speaker 1: Ready to get locked and loaded? Yeah, that's a good one.
- 52:05Speaker 1: So that's my that's my survival kid, Duna Nuna whatever,
- 52:10Speaker 1: get on it. Dad hacks my dad hack for you.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Learn a lullaby. Learn a lullaby. I think this is well. Look,
- 52:22Speaker 1: when you're in the trenches, you need to have some
- 52:23Speaker 1: go to tunes that daddy is singing, that mama is singing,
- 52:28Speaker 1: that the baby is going to recognize, because they want
- 52:31Speaker 1: to feel safe. They feel safe they're in your arms.
- 52:33Speaker 1: They're going to know they're in your arms, and they're
- 52:34Speaker 1: gonna hear your voice. They're going to know your voice,
- 52:36Speaker 1: and you're just gonna want to sing some tunes just
- 52:38Speaker 1: to pass some time. My go to lullabies were Sweet
- 52:43Speaker 1: Nothing by Taylor Swift. I spy with my little tired
- 52:48Speaker 1: I know he is. I kind of forgot a little
- 52:51Speaker 1: bit last d Sweet Nothing. I would humme it. I'm
- 52:59Speaker 1: more of a hum I love that one I will
- 53:02Speaker 1: sing is uh this African lullaby? Imbo wimbo. What do
- 53:09Speaker 1: you remember watching the movie Mighty Joe Young?
- 53:13Speaker 2: Yes, the gorilla that escapes the zoo or they're like
- 53:15Speaker 2: trying to get them to the pertures.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Are trying to kill these gorillas? Yes, Mighty Joe Young,
- 53:21Speaker 1: King Kong looking motherfuckers. Yeah, dude, there's a salala by
- 53:24Speaker 1: in there that has always stuck with me since watching
- 53:27Speaker 1: that movie. No way, and it's uh inmba.
- 53:30Speaker 6: Wimbo wa hoopio walk coty No No Tom o imba
- 53:39Speaker 6: wimboo wa hoopioo wakcty.
- 53:45Speaker 1: No no toim and I'll just run that on repeat,
- 53:49Speaker 1: humming singing it. It's my go to bro. You know it? Yo? Yeah,
- 53:54Speaker 1: I I love it I and I'm so happy about
- 53:58Speaker 1: it because RU will Now I'll sing this to Scotti. No, yes, Bro, Hey, Hey,
- 54:04Speaker 1: do you want to sing inbo winbow to Scotti? Or
- 54:06Speaker 1: when I put Scotty down and she wants dadd had
- 54:07Speaker 1: to come up, say Mama did bedtime? I want Dadda
- 54:10Speaker 1: to come up and give me hug and a kiss
- 54:12Speaker 1: and three squeezes like one two three, I love you.
- 54:15Speaker 1: I want dad to come up, and then she'd negotiate
- 54:17Speaker 1: that I want you to sing inmbo wimbo and I
- 54:18Speaker 1: would like lay down next to her bed like as
- 54:20Speaker 1: they got with it and as they got older, he
- 54:23Speaker 1: be like im and I would I sung that song
- 54:26Speaker 1: to her from from birth, bro, every time I sat
- 54:30Speaker 1: down with her fetter bottles singer to sleep. Yeah, Ever
- 54:32Speaker 1: it is inba Wimbow's to go to What is it about?
- 54:36Speaker 1: I don't know that's the best part. I don't know.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I've just always loved that song. It's like in the
- 54:43Speaker 1: movie Sad. It's sad story, like poachers come they kill
- 54:48Speaker 1: Mighty Joe Young's mom Gorilla like as they're poaching her
- 54:51Speaker 1: and the gal I forget, is it Charlie's Charlie's what
- 54:57Speaker 1: Oh Charlie Star, Yeah, charlist. She's one of her earlier
- 55:01Speaker 1: one of her earlier films, and she's the daughter in
- 55:04Speaker 1: this scene and her mom, like her crew, they helped
- 55:07Speaker 1: protect gorillas against poachers and keep gorilla safe in their
- 55:10Speaker 1: habitat and everything else. And I want to say, her
- 55:13Speaker 1: mom gets shot and they're sitting there. It's Mighty Joe Young, Baby,
- 55:16Speaker 1: Mighty Joe Young, Mighty Joeyen's mom just got just got
- 55:20Speaker 1: killed by the poachers. Yeah, and it's Mighty Joe Young.
- 55:23Speaker 1: Charlie Charlie Surelese. Anyway, her sitting there as a daughter
- 55:29Speaker 1: with Mighty Joe Young and her mom's and they're holding
- 55:30Speaker 1: them both and she's just telling them, hey, hey, you're
- 55:32Speaker 1: gonna be safe, get back to you know, you're gonna
- 55:35Speaker 1: get back to camp, and just keeping them making her
- 55:37Speaker 1: feel safe as possible, knowing that she's probably about to
- 55:40Speaker 1: die because she got shot or something happened, and she's
- 55:43Speaker 1: just singing her this lullaby Imbo Winbow. The character grows
- 55:47Speaker 1: up taking care of mighty Joe Young sings this song
- 55:50Speaker 1: to Mighty Joe Young like trying to make sure to
- 55:51Speaker 1: keep him safe, calm him down anytime he's acting up
- 55:53Speaker 1: because they try to put him a zoo, put him
- 55:55Speaker 1: in containment. She knows no, he needs to be running
- 55:57Speaker 1: out in Africa. Yeah, bro, And I've just I love
- 56:00Speaker 1: that movie, had the little VHS cassette tape everything. I
- 56:04Speaker 1: love that movie. I've always loved that song and that
- 56:06Speaker 1: was like one of my initial thoughts when singing real lullaby,
- 56:10Speaker 1: So get to noa lullaby. There's a lot of a
- 56:12Speaker 1: lot of good stuff out there.
- 56:14Speaker 2: I just love that in general because I've always said that,
- 56:17Speaker 2: like those African choirs or like even the child choirs
- 56:22Speaker 2: and stuff, there's nothing happier than some of those African languages,
- 56:27Speaker 2: like when they're just singing in Unison. Dude, when the
- 56:30Speaker 2: World Cup was in South Africa and all those South
- 56:33Speaker 2: African World Cup songs were bangers.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Yeah, a wuka, Hey, it's time for Twinkle Twinkle, little Star.
- 56:42Speaker 1: You'll sing all the classics that you know you remember
- 56:47Speaker 1: Hollelujah from Shrek. Oh yeah, I would do stuff like
- 56:52Speaker 1: that and I would try and uh and dad's mom's dads.
- 56:55Speaker 1: They might they might be on this wave too, but
- 56:58Speaker 1: you sing them so much that you start trying to
- 57:00Speaker 1: figure out your own lyrics for the song that's tailored
- 57:02Speaker 1: towards them. It was like once there was this little
- 57:07Speaker 1: girl and her little name was Serulian, and she was
- 57:12Speaker 1: so good. She always smiled. We all try to sing
- 57:16Speaker 1: her this like when she was like acting out. Yeah yeah,
- 57:18Speaker 1: she was just like stare at me. Her eyes were
- 57:22Speaker 1: like the ocean blue, her dad's her wait her name
- 57:27Speaker 1: was after the ocean blue. Her eyes the same, her
- 57:31Speaker 1: daddy's too. And she was so good, she always smiled.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Then I would like make something up until I got
- 57:39Speaker 1: it into hallelujah. You all have fun, dudes. Bro, he's
- 57:42Speaker 1: rocking it. He's rocking. Don't let me get hot right now.
- 57:46Speaker 1: He's rocking it with the lullaball because the blue oceans,
- 57:50Speaker 1: the color blue. Yes, get me start acting up. Her
- 57:53Speaker 1: eyes are blue, her daddy's too. O My eyes are blue.
- 57:56Speaker 1: That's why I wrote it like that. That's why I
- 57:57Speaker 1: wrote it like I don't know if you felt that
- 57:59Speaker 1: bar for it, I put it in there. It's deeper.
- 58:04Speaker 1: It's deeper than you, your server. You look at me
- 58:07Speaker 1: like you don't get it. Like, dude, I love that.
- 58:13Speaker 1: I love that.
- 58:13Speaker 2: My dad hack is it's so dumb because I was
- 58:16Speaker 2: just trying to think of something funny, but it it
- 58:19Speaker 2: does work. And this is for the cats out there
- 58:22Speaker 2: that aren't fully dead's. This is just for if you're
- 58:25Speaker 2: living with your significant other. Okay, you time out that
- 58:29Speaker 2: yard work to where you still have the grass a
- 58:32Speaker 2: little bit on you. It's on your shoes, it's on
- 58:35Speaker 2: your socks, it's on your shirt. You're sweaty, dude, and
- 58:38Speaker 2: you time out that you're finishing the yard work right when.
- 58:41Speaker 1: She's pulling up. There's just I'm just telling you. It
- 58:45Speaker 1: works with my girl.
- 58:46Speaker 2: I don't know if it works for every girl, but
- 58:47Speaker 2: there's something about them coming home seeing you covered in
- 58:51Speaker 2: sweat and you got the grass all over you. They
- 58:53Speaker 2: see how beautiful the yard work or yardwork looks.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Take off the shades, put them on your head.
- 58:58Speaker 2: Oh yeah, dude, and just give just give him a
- 59:00Speaker 2: little show, just a little taste, and Venmo, here's another
- 59:07Speaker 2: dad hack. Venmo for some uh what was it? The
- 59:10Speaker 2: manny petty shoot her a venmo and just say Manny
- 59:14Speaker 2: petty unsolicited while you're doing the yard. That's some game, churm.
- 59:20Speaker 2: You hit her some game. You hit her with the
- 59:22Speaker 2: Manni petty venmo. She comes back from the many petty
- 59:25Speaker 2: because she was already out shopping. You're covered in sweat
- 59:28Speaker 2: and grass it and you don't think you're not taking
- 59:31Speaker 2: a shower with it.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Just put you on game.
- 59:36Speaker 2: I know that that's that's so shallow compared to afterr lallaby.
- 59:39Speaker 2: But I don't have a kid yet. Yeah, so that's
- 59:42Speaker 2: just like that's some game. Name spots here for.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Yeah, come on, so with the spots here for I'm
- 59:46Speaker 1: gonna take a quick leak do it, drain the main vein,
- 59:49Speaker 1: take a little potty break, and when we get back,

- 1:00:56Speaker 2: wallaby and we were I googled that uh lallaby for
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: a mighty Joe Young. It's called the wind song. Do
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: you want to hear the translation to that song?
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Sing a song and for a moment you will be
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: visited by the wind. Sing a song and for a moment,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: dreams sweetly of the Wind sleep now until the night
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: is dawn, the wind and the night song they are there. However,
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: the song My Child Will go On Forever, that is
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: the wind song, and Chef played it for me.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: It's it hits. Yeah, yeah, there's more lyrics. I just
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: don't like. I can't. I couldn't remember. In Mighty Joe Young,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: it mainly hit those first couple of lines and then
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I would just repeat it.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah. He played it and also shout
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: out no free shout out Bill Paxson. Dude, what yeah
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: the actor, Yes, yeah, what a legend. Ri Ip is

- 1:02:08Speaker 1: to get to some call ins? Yes? We got to
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: keep this one under an hour. We got to keep
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: it under an How where we at chef? Yea, where
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: are we at chef hour and one minute? Okay, we
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: gotta figure out a way to get this under an hour. Yeah,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: we'll get there.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: I'll just be what we do every week that we
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: just get under an hour. To keep this one under
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: an hour, and we're actually doing really well. We're at
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: hour forty five. I know we said we're going to
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: try and get under an hour guys, but now we're
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: just we're under two hours, so we're actually doing well.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: First caller, Uh, this is a do we want to
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: do the P word?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: One? First? Uh? This comes from Caleb. Caleb, this is
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: a dad win, all right, Caleb excited to hear about
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: this dad win.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: This is Caleb, the biggest fan from from Busing. This
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: is a message coming from the trenches. Doctor. Our baby's
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: about to be two. She's a girl. Doctor says, we've
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: got to get rid of the P word. That's the
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: pacifier we know in our house, can't say it right now.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: We're on day seven and no pacifier, and for seven
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: days bedtime has been hearts black, Hearts of stone. Got
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: a fight to get her down today. Just got back
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: from a road trip. It's currently seven pm, right at
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: her normal bedtime. We do bedtime routine, set the expectations
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: like laid out on the show. Put her in the cribs,
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: no P word, she's out. No fussing, no holding, no negotiating.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: Thank you for your advice, Just letting you know that
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: right now, the battle of the past car has been
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: one by the Dad, Let's go for the Dad. Love
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: you boys.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Let's go Caleb. Hey, that's big time. That's big time.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Bus from the show worked. He say things had turned
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: black and turned to study turned black, laid the expectations
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: like you heard on the show. No p words dropped,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: she slept. The passive fire is hard. Bro Rue was
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: massive in the Passivefire game. Yeah, dude, and we essentially
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: like there's a few ways to go about it. You
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: go cold turkey, you can go clean. It sounds like
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: our boy Caleb did had to fight that battle for
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: seven days. They'll be like, you know, you can get
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: some advice on the internet that might give you like
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: different time frames, whether it's like say six months, a year,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: a year and a half or whatever. Yeah, you can
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: pull holes to where the air kind of you know,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: it's out. They don't enjoy it as much. Roue didn't
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: give a ship. We have the whole poke stuff. We
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: try the whole poke stuff. It's always passing. And Tiger
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: we have this little uh webbing ub which, by the way,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: webb and we got some webbing webbing ubs are we
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: got that's game right there? Is that what Tiger is.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Tiger was a webbing nub lost his passy off the end,
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: got fought through, you know, fought through some battles of
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: his own. But Tiger's been like her, you know her
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: like pacifier as like a stuff. Yes, she's Tiger. Yeah,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Tiger's like her. Her. Tiger's are main ud. Yeah, Tiger's
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: here main a little bit. I was like slow to
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: say that because kids showing, the parents showed. Yeah.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: I asked her if Tiger had a voice, and she
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: was talking for Tiger.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, she's got a whold Tiger loves to play
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: hide and seek. I gotta find Yes, that's right, Tiger
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: loves to play hide and seek. Oh my god. But
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: getting rid of the pass he was a tough hurdle
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: for us. We essentially we positioned it as when she
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: turned three, we're gonna go take her passes to the
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: passy ferry. So we take her somewhere. You take them
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: to a store, Yeah, and you exchange passes and then
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: you'll get a you'll get a little like a toy
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: or a game in return. But you donate them and
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: give them to the passy ferry. Passive ferry takes him.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: This is like the circle of life. This is the natural.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: This is what we do with passes. I love this. Yeah,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: so we took her to the passy Ferry, like a
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: took her to a store that does this, and we
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: got a little we got a little board game, little
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: board game in return, and the board game is sick.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: What is it?
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I got to look at it. Wait, was this? This
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: is a physical store that you broughsical store? Yeah, where
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: they do passy ferry or they you donate them, you
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: donate the passes, they do whatever with them. Oh that's sick.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: And yeah, you you hype it up like this moment,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: she's gotta let go of pass now. Bedtime was tough
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: at first. I will say I got lucky personally. My
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: wife was battling this or my wife this is the
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: superhero of the story. I was we were traveling somewhere
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: for busting, so we got timed up to watch. Charo
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: had to do the bad time. I want to say.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Bedtimes were hard the first couple of days. And she's like,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: real convenient that you wanted to I think I remember this.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: This was since I've been here at the office. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: So Charo had to kind of handle the first couple
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: of bed times but when I got back and I
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: was doing bedtime, like she would still just a weird moment,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: so where she kind of starts having a tantrument. She
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: wants passy, sweetheart, we took pass you to the passy ferry. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: I want Scotty's passing. Those passes are for Scotti. Uh huh.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: And you got to kind of keep her away, kind
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: of shift her brain, say, oh, look at that truck,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: or hey, look at your stuff animal. He needs some help,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: just fell over. Yeah, look at Tigy. Oh what's that Tigy.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: I know she gave her passes the passy ferry, but
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: she probably doesn't want to hear that right now. Oh
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: you want to give her a hug? I don't know.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: I'll ask her if you let me. Hey, Ty, he
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: would like to give you out because he sees that
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: you're having a hard time right now. It seems like
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: he really wants to give you a hug. Would you
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: want to give him hug? Yeah? And she like hugged
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Tigy And then you'll create a conversation with her and
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Tigy to kind of get their brain shifted somewhere else.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Let me look up this board game, kids, board game,
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: troll and Unicorns.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: I just love the thought of Chara like fighting the
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: pacifier thing. And if I think it was the A
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: and M trip, uh was when you're doing the pacifier, Well, we.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Were trying to. You were trying, you were trying to
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: do the cold Turkey, and we just we couldn't. I
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: don't know, we weren't badass enough to just do it
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: because you just you feel for him. You're so emotionally
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: wrapped up in their in their story too. You feel
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: for him, and when they're just losing your mind, you're
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: just like, all right, take the bass. Jesus Christ, it's
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: not gone. I had in my back pocket, take the bat.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: I don't want any problems. You can put the gun down,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: give mein. Yeah, Terr's the win. So then we had
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: to we had to reorganize because I think we're gonna
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: do it like around two and a half years, which
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: would have made sense for the Texas A and M game.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: So then we shifted. We're like, all right, three, when
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: she has her third birthday party, we're gonna talk to
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: her about it for like a month at a time. Hey,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: whenever you turn three, you get to go take your
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: passes to the PASSI faerure like that's what you do
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: at three years old, and had to get her like
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: get her on board. That is right. So that's how
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: we kind of shifted it because she was again she
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: still had her pass. He found the game. Oh here
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: we go this. I would save this for another Crack
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: of Cold one or dad Hack Survival Kit, because this
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: is a good one. Share and Sparkle Unicorns. It's a
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: peaceable it's a peaceable Kingdom cooperative board game, and it
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: is a fun game. Bro, it's a fun game. I'll
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: have I'll have crack a cold one for this game
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: because I have a I have a couple of fun
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: stories that pertain to this. But Share and Sparkle Unicorns.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: This is again a cooperative multiplayer game to where if
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: we all played US three me Sherman Chef, we would
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: be battling the troll. We can't let troll get all
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: the stones and you roll dice. You you draw these
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: stones out of a bag, out of a little baggy
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: and if you know you get you start filling up
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: your colors. If you have say, say you have two
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: green slots and you draw green, you put the green
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: on your green slot. If you already have two green
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: and you draw a third green one, you have to
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: give that one to the troll, and if the troll
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: fills up his back first, troll wins. You're trying to
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: get all of you and your teammates to fill up
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: your your own little board. If I if my board
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: is filled up anytime I draw, I'm not trying to
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: give them to my teammates. But there are some red
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: there are some red stones. If you get a red stone,
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: that means that's a troll card. You gotta flip over
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: the troll card and you probably have to give one
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: back to the bag, which kind of hurts. It's the
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: whole chemistry, got to take the year out of you.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: But it's a fun game. Sure looks fun. Share and
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: sparkle unicorns. I might bringing in. We could just do
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: it as a for a team builder with Bustle with
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: the boys. It's a great game, all right, Next call in,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: I gotta keep this one under an hour. Yeah, let's
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: stick to under an hour.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: This one comes from Oh, I'm excited for this one.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: This one comes from matt Uh his daughter face a
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: little bit of trash.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Talk at school. Fa trash talk, A little bit of
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: trash talk towards his daughter. Again, this is not a
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: show about giving expert advice. I'll handle this as the
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: call comes in, but who knows if I'll handle it
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: the right way. I think you'll like this one, Hey Will.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: My name is Matt.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: I'm actually from Lincoln, Nebraska, CoA skirts also a girl dad.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: How do something maybe you can bring up in a conversation.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: On the show. I have a daughter.
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: Who's just going into first grade, and she came home
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: today and was very upset because some boys at her
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: school had told her that because she's a girl, she
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: can't wear football jerseys and soccer jerseys because those are.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Only for boys.
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: And she put them all on a pile and wanted
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: to get rid of them. And so maybe that's something
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: that the boys could talk about. And being a dad
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: who's into sports and coaches and kind of how our
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: daughters have to deal with that uphill battle, move and
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: throw forward.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: So love the show, Keep up the great work.
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: Hope to hear from me soon.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Oh, Matt, thank you for calling in. Bro shout out
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: the skurts. I'm pissed off that one gets me. Heated
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: that one gets me heated buddy out of one and
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: a hey, who are these little boys? Point them out
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: to me? Probably it's Billy and Ryan. Hey, Billy, Ryan,
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: one of your folks show up. When did they get here?
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Point them out if they're in the crowd right now.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: But that's my dad right there. I know that wouldn't
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: be the way to go about it, but I would
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: be internally fuming about that because that would piss me off.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: I'm just trying to imagine if rue Love's wearing jerseys.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: She knows dad watches ball on the weekend. She's into
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: cheering for the Huskers. She's in the cheering for whichever
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: team mom and dad are cheering for, and she wants
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: to get jerseys, and she thinks they're cool. And she
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: goes to school and she gets told like, oh, only
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: boys wear jerseys. I'm thinking, fuck that, dude, Fuck that.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: I how old? How old is she going into first grade?
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: Going into first grade? So this wouldn't be one where
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: she probably has a young where she could just play
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: a clip for these boys. You know what we should do?
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: I have an idea, but you go ahead. I hope
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: it's the same idea we should get since.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: They're Husker fans. Yes, get a will Compton jersey made Yes,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: and I go and give her this jersey at the school,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: one hundred percent.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: And I didn't want to put any pressure on him,
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: but Dylan Raila as well. That would be yes, insane
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: if you and Dylan rolled into her school and said.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: Coach rule, coach rule, would do it?
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: Dude, he's got girls, Yeah, he got girl Yes, rules
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: there tomorrow?
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Should I get you? Want me to get this guy's
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: information over to you, because if he's in Lincoln, then
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: next time we go to Lincoln. I was trying to
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: get out to a couple of training camp days in August.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: They're probably not in school right now. We'll have to
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: figure that out. Those kids just made the biggest mistake,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: the biggest mistake of their lives. I'm gonna take those
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: kids on a walk. I'm gonna take those first graders
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: on a walk, just selfie video. Hey, come and step
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: into the pantry, boys, Billy and Ryan, I'll just fucking
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: around that way.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: Jerseys are different only for girls, yeah, or they're only
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: for boys only for boys?
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: That yeah, that that that gets the piss hot. But
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: get that piss hot.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: That would be the most incredible moment for that girl.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: That would be so sick. Yeah, Matt, you just tell
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: your daughter that show her just this video. I wish
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: we knew her name. I know, I wish we knew
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: her name so we could talk to her.
- 1:15:24Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Matter of fact, I want to send him, Matt, let's
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: get his information so that way I can send him.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: I'll send him a video. Yeah, I'll send him a
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: video that he can show his daughter because that sucks, dude.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the fact that she had it all laid
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: out all of her jerseys and said I don't want
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: to wear these anymore.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: And for any first grade boys out there watching this
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: podcast right now, like they're just telling YouTube, make sure
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: you're subscribed first. But we need to encourage and embrace
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: and support anytime somebody's trying to uplift the sport of football,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: any sport. You need to make all the girls, all
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: the women, think it's the coolest thing on earth, because
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: that's what we have to do. Bro. I hate that
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: a little girls getting told, hey, only boys were jerseys,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: Like that's bullshit. I would love to meet these boys
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: in the a gup, but they're boys, so I can't
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: say that these are first graders in eighteen years, I'd
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: love to be but my first grade self. Them kids
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: will be eating through it too. Hey, hey, just kids,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: just joshing, just josh. Maybe the parents are friends of
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: the show. This is only the beginning of this story.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: That's what gets me stepped. Yeah, bros, gonna cut up
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Jay Terry right now. Our the equipment guy at Nebraska,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I say, ours the equipment guy at Nebraska, and be like, hey,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: we need to get a jersey made for this first grader,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: and we gotta figure something out because that would be
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: sick electric. Yeah, that would be really cool. Rules all right.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: He doesn't even know what's going on, he's already on it.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: And just to know, if I did come across these boys,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I would handle it. I wouldn't be fucking around like
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: I am on this show right now, Like it would
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: be a you just want to talk to him about it.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I encourage him, talk about how you know they should
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: go about it. A Husker is a Husker last time
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: I checked. And it's just a football fans a football fan, man.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: Come on. Yeah. A lot of thoughts run through my head. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: a lot of thoughts. But I think that would be sick.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: That would be cool. Thank you, Matt. Shout out madh Skers,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: go big red.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: Shout out mad Ghostkers. Check your phone because we've probably
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: already texted you by this time. Yeah, all right, last
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: call is from j D.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: German, will Buddies.
- 1:17:35Speaker 7: I don't know if you can hear this in the background.
- 1:17:41Speaker 7: That's my seven day old.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Boy, seventh day Old Boys fan of the show, Willie.
- 1:17:49Speaker 7: I got a question for you, man, how do you
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: get through these first couple of weeks? Been home for
- 1:17:56Speaker 7: about a week now, well, have been home for a
- 1:17:59Speaker 7: week with the nights are absolutely brutal, Sleep is nonexistent.
- 1:18:07Speaker 7: Any advice would be appreciated for doing the shifts. My
- 1:18:11Speaker 7: wife and I were doing everything, man, but I can't
- 1:18:17Speaker 7: even think right now. I'm half asleep, Sherman. You'll get
- 1:18:20Speaker 7: to this soon, combats to you and Jilly Bean. But yeah, man,
- 1:18:25Speaker 7: frustration sets in in the middle of the night, knowing
- 1:18:27Speaker 7: you're doing everything you can for the little one and
- 1:18:30Speaker 7: he still isn't sleeping. Love your thoughts, How you get
- 1:18:33Speaker 7: through these restless nights? How you continue to convince yourself
- 1:18:37Speaker 7: that the end is near and anything in between? Again? JD.
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: Out of Chicago.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: Thanks boys, JD, thanks for calling in brother. He's essentially
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: he's asking how you deal with these early weeks not
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: getting any sleep. You can tell my man's he's on
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: his last limp. He's battling, he's burning thin right now.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: He is in the foxhole in the trenches. You know.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: When he got off the pontel, he's like pleasus, he goes,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: I don't know if you can hear this right now,
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: and I guarantee you is just look we were talking
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: about it earlier in the episode. Yeah, with just embracing
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: the suck. Losers react to, Winners anticipate. If you fail
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: to prepare, you prepare to fail. The whole layout that
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Charro and I would have because we both have our
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: off days right where we're operating on e somebody's you know,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: usually her, she's operating in a way less capacity because postpartum,
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: that stuff is real. They're going through a lot of shit,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: So it's hard to it's hard to bitch about your
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: own stuff because there's really no there's no place for it.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: And I would have everything just planned out. So for example,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: the baby's going stretching every three hours is around the
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: goal of what you're trying to accomplish. When you get
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: to nighttime, it's all right, who's on the eight pm shift,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: who's on eleven pm, who's on two am, who's on
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: five am, who's on eight am? Right, that's kind of
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: how we would cycle everything through. Usually we're both up
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: on the eight pm mark. But let's just say, for example,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Charle's running on e and she needs to get some
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: much needed rest and she's somebody who would pump, so
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I would have the bottles ready to go. Yeah, I
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: would handle the first half, so I would handle eight pm,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: I would handle eleven PM, and I would handle two am.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Once I go down for two am, Charo knows Charle
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: now would know that she is active, whether whether or
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: not she wants to be active. That is how we
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: structured our nights. Or Charo would do the first the
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: first part, and I would do the back half. And
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: that's two to what sorry, every three hours, so two
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: am five am, oh okay, So if you're on the
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: morning shift, it would be five am and eight am.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: Charl would more often than not take on the five
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: am and the eight am because that's when I would
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: get going to whether it's gonna work out in the morn,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: get going with the day, for busting with the boys. Yeah,
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: but that's how we structured everything else. So and you
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: just gotta know that some nights are just not going
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: to go your way, and you just gotta fucking accept it.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Because my whole goal, my priorities in my head is
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: parents that would always say like, oh wait, till you
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: have a kid, your whole life's gonna change. You're not
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: gonna get any sleep. You're not gonna get this, You're
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: not gonna get that, You're gonna be a whole different
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: human being. Oh watch y'at, watch out. It's gonna suck
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: to be around Will because he's gonna be tired. And
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: this boulder would build on my shoulder that I just
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: wanted to prove that kind of shit wrong. So it'd
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: almost be the intention would be in my mind that
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: all right, there's gonna be nights you are not gonna
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: operate off a lot of sleep. And then whenever you
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: go into the building, you wanna kind of have high
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: spirits for the boy's enthusiasm. But everybody was great around me.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: They would know that, you know, Will just had a kid.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: If Will needs to go he's gotta go, like guys
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: would try to make me do you know, as less
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: as possible, and just you guys are supportive as hell
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: during all that. But I just those voices would be
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: in my head to where I knew like I wanted
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: to be on when I'm just anticipating being on and
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: not be somebody who would be reactive have the loser mentality.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: So I would just I would structure it. My advice
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: would be to plan, uh, plan out what your nights
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: look like. If you're gonna be on the night shift
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: all night long, then just know that you're going to
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: battle that pissed off mood and you're not gonna let that.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: You're not gonna let that shit happen. Two things you
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: can always control, always, no matter what, no matter how
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: tired you are, no matter how beat down you are,
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: no matter what it is, you can always control your
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: attitude and effort. And if you're having a bad fucking
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: night again, it's like having quotes, having things to lean
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: on that's kind of helping you get through it. Because
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: there's gonna be nights where you fall short and you
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: feel like less of a dad or you feel like, man,
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: I didn't really handle that the right way, and that's
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: just gonna fucking happen, and you gotta have grace with yourself.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: You gotta know that it's gonna be okay. But I'm
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: telling you, anticipate the struggle, anticipate the bullshit, anticipate the suck,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: all of it, and just figure out a way to
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: embrace it. That's really the only way. It's all. It's
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: all mentality, it's all knowing that, okay, it's not gonna
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: be perfectly eight eleven to two, all of that stuff.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: And as you get into it, they're gonna need a
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: little bit less. Like you start winning off the night feedings.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: They're gonna be sleeping and stretching that three hours to
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: four hours and you're gonna catch a little bit of
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: a winn and you're gonna feel good about it. That
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: would be That would be my advice. It's not going anywhere.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: It's gonna it's gonna keep fucking happening, and it's all
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: about embracing the suck and just know that you're gonna
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: be in it. You know your boys are in it
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: with you, not physically but emotionally. This podcast The Fatherhood, Yeah,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: Pop a team six who owes his name j D.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: J D from Shytown. J D from Shytown. We're with you,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: j D. Drop comments in the comment check section. We're
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: with you, JD. You just gotta keep battling, dude, keep
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: showing up, laugh at yourself. No, it's gonna be fucking hard. Yeah,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: you're gonna think about leaving your kids and your family,
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: but you won't. But you won't. And just know that
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: you are gonna wish that you had those moments back.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: As hard as it feels like they are right now,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: as long as those nights seem right now, just know
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: that you are gonna want those back because they're gonna
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: start moving, They're gonna start crawling, they're gonna start hitting milestones.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: You're gonna, man, remember when they just had the smallest fingers,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: the smallest little hands. They're just staring at you while
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: they're feeding. They're not feeding, but they're still just kind
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: of looking at you. They're throwing their head around. They
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: don't want the bottle. It's gonna piss you off, but
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: do your best to cherish every fucking moment. Dude.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that answer, But by the time he
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: hears this answer, I'll probably be in the trenches as well.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and look I was in the trenches too, and
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: there'd be a lot of times where I'm like, you know,
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: bitching about it mentally. If it's just me maybe talking
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: to the kid, I'll just start, you know, you just
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: start riffing and improving with the kid about just how
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: hard it is, how hard their life is making, how
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: hard they're making my life. The next day if they
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: don't go down to sleep. You know, if I get
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: too mad, I can start making a lot of noise
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: to where Mom feels like she has to come up
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: and intervene. You understand that, right, that's gonna piss everybody off. Hey,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: when are you getting go? I was doing the math.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: I was like in his will sleeping with that schedule.
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: If you have the eight eleven and two.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Shift, I'll fall asleep. So I would let's say all
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: was watching Tulsa King. I remember Tulsa King being a show.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: I was kind of watching knowing that I'm bunkering up
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: for the night on the couch because I would just
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: tell sar, Hey, I want you to get some sleep.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Troub back. You can sleep in the bed and just
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: get up whenever she goes. I'm like, yeah, I know,
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: but if you hear the monitor and you wake up
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: at all, Like, guys, just don't want to interrupt your sleep.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: You sleep in the bed, I'll sleep on the couch
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: out in the living room, and then I'll just go
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: up and handle it whenever I need to handle it. Yeah,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: so I would like binge a show, and then if
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: say I wanted to fall asleep or sleep until at
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: eleven PM, I would just have an alarm on my
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: phone and it would just go off at eleven unless
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: the monitor woke me up beforehand. Then I would go
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: up and feed or go down and sleep from let's
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: just say eleven thirty eleven forty five until the next round. God,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: so I'll sleep, you know, get an hour and a half,
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: two hours in sleeping until two am. Get up, go
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: feed or know that. Okay, now after this one, say
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: it's two thirty and I'm crawling in bed, I now
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: get to sleep until six thirty.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: I very obviously have not read the twelve by twelve
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: book yet, because I was in that I was like, Oh,
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: you're up for that three hour window, but really.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Don't have to. You're only up if you're into the
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: show and you're just kind of staying up and you
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: just know it's gonna be a fucking tough night. You're
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: doing it to yourself. Yeah, Yeah, that's why. I You know,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: if we were on Goon and I would goon, the
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: monitor would be sitting there, the monitor would be sitting
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: there while I'm playing the video game, and then you're
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: just going through the night. That makes all the sense
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: in the world. Now, get two am feeding. You not
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: got that two am feeding. You crawl in the bed
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: and get whatever sleep you can until the next till
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: the next whatever we had, or say we had a
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: meeting at like a thirty in the morning, I would
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: sleep until like seven thirty, wake up at seven seven thirty.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: I think, I'm I'm probably gonna do the eight pm
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: eleven to two shift.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: I would like to do that.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: And then I feel like it makes it easier for
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: her in the morning Slash. I live so close to
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: the office that I really can kind of yeah, sleep
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: until that. Yeah, and if you hit a one in
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: the daytime, it's on me. Like they're gonna just be
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: combined to those walls of the house.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're gonna be out at work, right you're
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: gonna be out tasting the fresh air everything else. Obviously
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: she can get her in the stroller, walk with her,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: get out and about. I would definitely recommend that. But
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: those moments where it's like if you when you do
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: get to the bottle, they take a few hours and
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: go do whatever they want. You handle the bottle, you
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: handle the stuff at home, because more of a like
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: when I would get home around you know, three thirty
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: or four. Every day you just be on. So you
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: got eight pm, five pm, two pm, and again, all
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: they do is like eat shit and sleep, feed them,
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: burp them. They might shit themselves. They sleep a lot hopefully, yeah, hopefully,
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: but you know, there's not a whole lot that they
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: do for the first few months other than other than
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: that Jill had and we were religious with twelve hours
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: in twelve weeks. That method, Yeah, we need to get that.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: It's a good method. Man. It's not too aggressive, like
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: there's some it's like, let's say, it's like taking care
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: of babies or the ones where you like let them
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: cry or you're you're you're doing all those things. I
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: like this one because it's a it's an entire philosophy
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: on on the kid, the child entering your guys' lives
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: versus you adapting everything in your life around the child.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: Obviously you're doing that like when you become a parent.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: But charl would be big on going out and still
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: doing farmers' markets on Saturdays, or still taking them around friends,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: and if they kind of miss a little bit of
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: their nap window or they're up a little bit longer,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: it's like the baby is in is in our world.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: They're acclimating. They're acclimating to us, versus us sacrificing everything
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: to kind of be on a very strict structure with them.
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: That makes all the sense in the world. I know
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: Jill has some sort of sleep plan, whether it's from
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: a book or like some kind of something that she
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: looked into, but I need to have that conversation with
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: her obviously, I mean we're like two days out, but yeah,
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: figure out what that plan is. And then the other
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: thing that I was going to bring up.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: You could simply chat GPT the twelve hours and twelve
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: weeks and kind of see the methods and then as
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: they put it, log it all out for you just
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: ask why in certain areas, so then you can figure
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: out a little bit about the why behind it.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: One quick question, because I could probably hate you with
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: like a million of these. If you smell that they've
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: like shit themselves while they're asleep, do you just let
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: that pony ride until they wake up or like what?
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: It's a great question. Depends depends depends how long they've
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: been sleeping, if you hear them kind of if you
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: if you hear them kind of shit like and it's
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: say they might have thirty or forty five minutes left, Yeah,
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: let them sleep until you wake them up. If they're
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: still sleeping, if it's early, I probably I usually we
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: would change them or I would change them, Yeah, because
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: sometimes I'm like, I just got her down, she just shit, Like,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: let me let this ride for a minute. Those she
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: would happen. Let me see if they wake up, because
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: they'll get uncomfortable.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure that they would probably inevitably wake them
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: up with you know, having a shit in their diaper.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: But the way, like how fast you change diapers, I'm
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: sure that I'll probably get to that speed as well.
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: And then at that point I can see why you're like,
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: just change it, yeah, just because.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: You'll have to take them out of the swaddle. You
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: gotta like unbutton their onesie or whatever with their onesie,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: get to the diaper, like you're gonna wake them up. Yeah,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: there's not really a method where they're kind of stay asleep.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: Maybe you're lucky, maybe your kids just just knocked out
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: while you're changing them. But it all depends and all
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: know what to do in the moment.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: Absolutely, And also a huge shout out to everybody that
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: was like Sherman, anything with buttons on it is a
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: no go. Yeah, we have been purchasing a lot. There's
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: like these new ones where it's all magnets.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: N Yeah, dude, magnets are good. It's just like it.
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: Literally just comes off with like a good tug on it,
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: but they can't get it off.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, I don't even use like we have pajamas
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: where it's like all the buttons go like underneath like
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: the end seam of their of their leg up under
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: their crotch all the way to the other end seam. Yeah,
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: I don't even use those anymore. For me, it's just
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: all the zipper from the toe up to the up
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: to the up to the neck.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: That's what everybody's been saying, Like zippers snaps and Max.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: They'll be wiggling, they'll be moving. He just fly. Then
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: you be holding them on there something, just letting them
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: know that, like, yeah, I can hold you down. If
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: I want to hold you down, you're probably Scotty's moving now.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: She's trying to crawl and army crawl and stuff. Yeah,
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: so she'll like get that strong that strong bridge in
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: her back and just like you know, trying to wiggle
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: and hold her little less down. No, yeah, that's daddy,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: that's daddy right there. You're about to get so many
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: texts for gooning. Yeah, for playing video games. I'm gonna
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: starty hitting you up so much. But it's like, you know,
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: you got your little methods that you'll go by. At nighttime,
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: maybe you feel awake. You feel like, even though you
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: might have low energy, you have just some jolt at
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: nighttime where it's like, all right, I don't want to
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: go to sleep, like I wanna, I'm wanna watch this show.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: I would recommend you sleeping you know where you can.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: But yeah, i'd And that's to bring in full circle,
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: that's one of the reasons why I am worried about
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: the lack of sleep is because.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: I know I am good at I can stay up.
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: Yeah once I get once my brain turns to that mindset,
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: and then it's like, well, when am I gonna go
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: to sleep?
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: Yeah? Because then you get that.
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: Kind of like you're tired, but your heart's racing, your
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: head's racing.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: But and what happens is you'll have this snowball effect
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: of when you're not getting the sleep when you know
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: you should be like the one where the quote the
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: journal entry last week from Daily Dad, just go to bed,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: oh yeah, yeah yeah. And when you don't do that,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: the first thing you'll start sacrificing is your own like
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: your own health. Like you'll stop doing the exercises that
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: you have long like that you wanted to do for yourself.
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: You'll stop. You'll eat whatever because you're just on the
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: go and you've just chalked it up as like I'm
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: a beating down man. If anything's gonna make me feel good,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: I want it to be this food. So you start
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: letting yourself go health wise, which in the long run,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: it just starts. You'll start getting upset with yourself. You
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: don't know where it's coming from. You start projecting. So
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: it's important to get to sleep when you can, so
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: you can keep yourself true to whatever your principles want
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: to be with health and exercise and everything, because that'll
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: be like the first thing to go. You'll start you'll
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: start feeling so sorry for yourself and you'll just eat whatever.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: I'm bad at that. Dude, stress See the boys and
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: Dad's out there put on way to their own. Yeah,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: I stress eat one. Yeah I feel Yeah, I feel
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: like it's just stress eating. You just start stressing yourself out,
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: and that'll be the first thing that goes, and you
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: don't want that because there'll be some long term it'll
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: just snowball.
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, And I'm already I'm I'm on. We talked
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: a little bit about this with Jill's just station Will Diabete. Yeah,
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: that it got me on a healthier train. So like
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: I'm going in a good trajectory with like a lot
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: of proteins, a lot of veggies. Yeah, I don't want
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: to get off that because I'm moving, I'm feeling better.
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Well I'll try and stick to a buddy. Yeah,
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: your accountabil buddy. Please. All right, we got to keep
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: this under an hour.
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: We do add quick reminder eight five five four two
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: seven two seven three six. That's a national parent and
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: youth hotline. If you have a major issue that you
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: need to call in, get off your chest, make sure
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: you call those guys.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: And if you're wanting to leave a voicemail for the
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: dads for this show six to oh one, The Dad's
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: six oh one the Dads six o one the Dads.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Give us the topic that you're covering or the segment
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: that you're covering, and share your story. But shout out
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: you guys, Yeah, shout out. And before we get onto
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: the lesson, I do want to say we were we're
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: going to try and ramp up the sharing of stories
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: on Instagram, engaging more on social media, whether it be
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: on X, whether it be on TikTok or Instagram. We've
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: been seeing a lot of dads, you know, sticking to
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: the weekly traditions of whether it be Pizza Friday. We
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: didn't have mine on Friday, and I put out a
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: little tweet like I want to live through the other
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: dads out there that are celebrating Pizza Friday getting a
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: lot of photos. But we need to start doing that
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: through or for the Dad's brand for sure. For sure,
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: I mean pizza Friday's Pizza Friday. Like, if you celebrate,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: you celebrate Pizza Friday. But for the dads and the
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: families out there that are doing their weekly traditions, whether
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: you're teaching your son or daughter to take out the
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: trash to the curb. I know, Rufe. She actually asked
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: me the other day like that, I want to take
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: the trash out with you. I was like, sweetheart, Wednesday,
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: Big Day. Wednesday, Big Day will get you up, We'll
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: get you dressed ready to go, and you can take
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: the trash out to the curb with dad. Dad, I'll
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: do a little selfie video. So that way, we just
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: get people on board with sending in videos that we
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: can share on our stories, that we can share on
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: our platforms. And then again, if you're celebrating Pizza Friday,
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: we will be sharing that stuff as well. So just
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: make sure to tag at for the dad's Yes. Can
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: I give a good example of that really quick?
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: Colton on Twitter uh tagged for the dads and then
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: he tacked a little video of him negotiat this is
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: his words, negotiating with the terrorists. He gave his daughter
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: she looks like tewish a little cheese wheel and said,
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: you can have the cheese wheel if you have two
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: more bites of chicken. You can see it in this
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: girl's face as soon as he hands that cheese wheel.
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: There is no more chicken going down. You are so
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: dumb that you just gave me this, I replied back.
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: I said, hey, you know, even if it didn't, no
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: more chicken was consumed, I still feel like everyone won
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: in this situation. He said, Not only was there no
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: more chicken consumed, she somehow swindled M and M and
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: the process.
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: So shout out.
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: Colden for trying. Yeah, and shout out for sending that
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: to the boys.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: Yeah to see it. Should we get into the lesson? Yeah,
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: the lesson theme? This week I wrote a little something
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: for you. Sure, okay? You being a dad this week? Yes?
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: So this is around, you know, I guess a letter
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: to dads and potential dads that are having their first kid.
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: Are you ready to go? I'm ready to go. You're
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: about to be drafted into the toughest league there is fatherhood.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: Are you No bye weeks, no offseason, just back to
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: back blowouts mentally, emotionally and literally. You're gonna get pissed on,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: spit up on and hit with the tantrum combo that
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: tells you you are not built for the a gap.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: Don't overthink it, love hard, and remember the goal is
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: in perfection its presence. Be the dad who gives a shit,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: be the dad who takes the l and keeps showing up.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: They're not looking for a superhero. They just want dad
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: in the flesh, in the moment, loving them even when
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: you think they hate you. The days will feel long,
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: but they're fleeting. And I was saying it a couple
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: weeks ago that kids don't really remember much from their
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: first four years of life, no vivid memories, no long
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: term recall. And at first that can sound sad. Maybe
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: you'll think, oh, I can miss this or that because
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: they won't remember. And when you, when you sit with
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: it and think about it, it almost feels like those
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: years are for us, the parents, to soak it in,
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: to be needed in the most raw, primal way a
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: human can be needed. So don't get caught up trying
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: to be the perfect dad, because there's no game plan,
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: no film study, no depth chart to compare yourself. To
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: just be in it. Fully, put the phone down, rock
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: them a little longer, let them fall asleep on your chest,
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: Stare at their little hands and feet, Cherish the little
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: noises they make when sleeping or looking around at the world,
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: laugh when it's chaos, and love the hell out of
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: every minute you get. You won't remember everything, they won't
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: remember everything, but you'll feel it, and they'll feel it
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: even if they can't recall it. Welcome to the fatherhood,
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: brother Like that I did almost I almost started to
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: fall off the tracks there for a second.
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: I'm glad that I cried earlier. Yeah, I got it out. Yeah,
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: I'm I'm really really excited. I feel like this entire
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: opportunity of just this show like is incredible, but like
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: what comes along with it is also like the such
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: a high calling as well. I'm like very overwhelmed in
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: this part of life. And I'm like so thankful to
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: everybody here at Bustin', including you and Taylor. I'm thankful
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: for everybody in my life that has like come around
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: me and supported me. Rather that's even people in the
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: DMS or like friends that have called me.
- 1:40:01Speaker 7: It.
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: It's like very like undeserved.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: Feeling of like there's so many dads out there, and
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: like there's just a lot of dads. But like I
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: get I'm getting to do this show that's a ton
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: of fun, and now I'm getting the opportunity to be
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: a dad. And I don't know what I'm trying to
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: say other than like I'm just incredibly thankful.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: And I cannot wait.
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: I'm like terribly excited. And like I said, my krack
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: of cole One is just that I want to I
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: want to hold Scarlet and I want her to look
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: just like her mom, and I want to like teach
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: her all these fun things.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: Like I just can't wait. Dude, buddy, It's gonna be awesome.
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: And all the dads, the support, they everybody puts their
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: arms around you because it is the best thing in
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: the world. It is the best thing in the world.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: It's fucking hard, yeah, dude, but it is the best
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: thing in the world.
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: Dude, And just shout out you of not like this
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: is so sick, Like this show is so sick. It's
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: so much fun and the reaction to everybody, but like,
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: just shout out you for like being a really good dad.
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: It's not common. You know, there's a lot of dads
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: out there, like I said, but there might not be
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: like a whole lot of great ones. They're like really
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: elite ones, and you kind of having this like not
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: a higher calling to everybody.
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: But just like an expectation for yourself. It's just really
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: cool that like.
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: You're like making being a dad like cool and like
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: being able to talk about the hard stef cool and
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: giving this safe space. Like just a lot of the
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: conversations that we've had has made me so confident that
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: I'll be able to be a good father.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: And I thank you for that. I'm done, but thank you.
