- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, guys, Welcome back to another episode of Clyde Confidential.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I have a very special guest with me today on
- 0:06Speaker 1: my couch. Josh Beckerman, a k A foodie mad Hey.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Josh, Hi, how are you? I'm so good? How are
- 0:13Speaker 2: you great? Thank you for coming over, Thank you for
- 0:16Speaker 2: having me. This is exciting. I'm very very excited.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Do you like to be addressed as foody, Madish or
- 0:27Speaker 3: Josh during this thought?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Actually, whatever makes you happy. Some people call me foodie,
- 0:31Speaker 2: some people call me Josh. No one calls me Susan,
- 0:34Speaker 2: thank god, but whatever, whatever, whatever you want, Josh, it's
- 0:38Speaker 2: good because we're friends. So I'm gonna play you. Josh. Well,
- 0:41Speaker 2: thank you. It's a cold day in New York. You
- 0:46Speaker 2: like my treat? I love it so festive? Thank you
- 0:49Speaker 2: so much.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Okay, So I'm really happy you're here because I feel like,
- 0:53Speaker 1: outside of your shows, I actually don't know that much
- 0:57Speaker 1: about you, and.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I want to know your whole story. How you came
- 1:02Speaker 2: to be fooding the dish? Where you came from. Well
- 1:06Speaker 2: that's a long story. Let's just listen to it. I
- 1:08Speaker 2: got when I was five. I grew up in from
- 1:11Speaker 2: zero to ten years old. I was in Quegarten's Queens,
- 1:13Speaker 2: then from ten to eighteen Stonybrook on Island College, Bucknell University. Okay,
- 1:19Speaker 2: that's which. Now, Yeah, I was a business major minor
- 1:22Speaker 2: in film studies. My nickname was the card Man. I
- 1:25Speaker 2: used to do card tricks to drunk for turning to
- 1:26Speaker 2: people for four years. Now I do mentalism to drunk
- 1:29Speaker 2: people at private events and corporate events. But by the way,
- 1:33Speaker 2: the more you drink, the better mind shit. But how
- 1:36Speaker 2: I got into magic is interesting. My father got me
- 1:38Speaker 2: a magic box or magic kit when I was around
- 1:41Speaker 2: five years old. That's when I hit the magic bug.
- 1:44Speaker 2: A lot of young kids get magic kids. Did you
- 1:46Speaker 2: ever get a magic kit? New or five or probably?
- 1:48Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:49Speaker 2: But I just haven't stopped. So it was a round
- 1:52Speaker 2: m forty years ago. But then when I was in
- 1:56Speaker 2: high school, I got into car drinks. I learned some
- 1:59Speaker 2: slide of hand news and I would do card tricks
- 2:01Speaker 2: to everyone in my high school and then at buck
- 2:03Speaker 2: Now I would do car tricks to all tho drunk
- 2:06Speaker 2: fraternity people and that's how I became the Cardinal. So
- 2:10Speaker 2: that was kind of the beginning. Now what I do
- 2:13Speaker 2: is what you call mentalism magical the mind mental magics.
- 2:17Speaker 2: So in twenty ten, so fifteen years ago, I was,
- 2:22Speaker 2: you know, just to eat a magicians and mentalists. What
- 2:24Speaker 2: I do for a job. You go to magic stores,
- 2:26Speaker 2: you go online, you buy books, you could buy tricks.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It's all the learned, right. So but in two thousand
- 2:31Speaker 2: and ten, I was like, you know what, it'd be
- 2:32Speaker 2: cooler than fighting someone's cardinal unique way, what if I
- 2:36Speaker 2: could read their minds. So that's when I started buying
- 2:39Speaker 2: books and tricks in the world of mentalism. So that's
- 2:42Speaker 2: kind of the overview of the foody magician. Oh the
- 2:45Speaker 2: foody part, that's a whole other that's all on the
- 2:47Speaker 2: ball game. I've always been into food and restaurants. I've
- 2:51Speaker 2: been in Manhattan since two thousand and three. The number
- 2:54Speaker 2: of meals I've cooked cooked in Manhattan, I can tell
- 2:57Speaker 2: you right now zero. I ever cooked the meal. In
- 3:00Speaker 2: New York. I literally eat out every restaurant, eat at
- 3:03Speaker 2: every deal at restaurants. So in two thousand and six,
- 3:09Speaker 2: I was so into the restaurant in New York City
- 3:12Speaker 2: food set, and I was like, I should start a blog.
- 3:14Speaker 2: So I started a food blog nycfoody dot com. I
- 3:18Speaker 2: still own it. I don't really updated anymore because now
- 3:19Speaker 2: everything's on social media. This was just a block to
- 3:23Speaker 2: talk about my diat experiences at New York City restaurants.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And then that was two thousand and six when member
- 3:30Speaker 2: of blogs. I guess they're still around. And then in
- 3:36Speaker 2: twenty ten, when I got into the mentalism game, I
- 3:39Speaker 2: started going to events and parties and restaurants. I started
- 3:42Speaker 2: to introduce myself as the foody matician. I'd be like, Hey,
- 3:45Speaker 2: what's up. I'm the foody magician. People who were like,
- 3:47Speaker 2: what the fuck is that? Do you do magic with food?
- 3:49Speaker 2: We're like, well, I make it disappear. But no, I'm
- 3:51Speaker 2: just the With some people, I just the magician mentals
- 3:54Speaker 2: comedian that'llps to eat. I'm a foodial a magician. I'm
- 3:56Speaker 2: the foody matriician. So I started doing that for or
- 4:00Speaker 2: about a year. And then a year after I started
- 4:03Speaker 2: calling myself the foody musician, around twenty eleven, The New
- 4:06Speaker 2: York Times wrote a two page cover story about me
- 4:10Speaker 2: in the Dissection and tylet's slide a hand with your
- 4:11Speaker 2: dinner about this guy that goes to restaurants. He's more
- 4:15Speaker 2: like Anthony Orgaine than David Blaine does magic. He guesses
- 4:18Speaker 2: people's favorite restaurants, and that kind of put me on
- 4:21Speaker 2: the map. And that was two thousand and eleven, and
- 4:24Speaker 2: to this day, all I do is eat at restaurants
- 4:26Speaker 2: all day and do shows around the world. I mean,
- 4:29Speaker 2: it sounds like a nice life to me. Yeah. I
- 4:32Speaker 2: guess they always say if you do what you love,
- 4:34Speaker 2: you never have to work a day in your life.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I'm basically living the journey question for you.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So you haven't put this single meal in your apartment
- 4:44Speaker 1: at two dates since two thousand and three?
- 4:47Speaker 3: Now are you just so determined to just keep that going?
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yeah? No, that's exactly right. How does that work? Well?
- 4:52Speaker 2: I mean I usually skip breakfast, but no, at this
- 4:54Speaker 2: point after a couple of years, I was like, you know,
- 4:56Speaker 2: why start now? So maybe one day, you know, maybe
- 4:59Speaker 2: in my fifty or something. But I've never cooked a
- 5:02Speaker 2: bill and I don't really plant it. But you know,
- 5:04Speaker 2: especially in New York. I mean, first of all, I
- 5:06Speaker 2: guess a lot of people eat at restaurants in New York,
- 5:08Speaker 2: but the New York City restaurant scene is kind of
- 5:13Speaker 2: my stage. You know, It's like it's kind of my life,
- 5:16Speaker 2: and I actually eat dying solo often, but you never
- 5:21Speaker 2: really die in solo when you're out in New York.
- 5:23Speaker 2: In many cities too. I mean when I travel for shows.
- 5:27Speaker 2: After I do my show, I liked to explore the
- 5:30Speaker 2: culinary scene, like every city I go to, the in La, Chicago,
- 5:34Speaker 2: the furthest place I've traveled to for a show was Bali.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Have you been a Bali yet? You probably loved it. Actually,
- 5:39Speaker 2: I think it was pretty cool. I did a sixtieth
- 5:41Speaker 2: birthday there and then that was like a three day thing.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And then I explored the highlight of Bali, which is
- 5:47Speaker 2: pretty cool.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Damn.
- 5:48Speaker 3: So people will fly you to destinations like Bali for events.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah, how often does that happen? I mean that's that
- 5:55Speaker 2: was far? But no, I mean I travel every week
- 5:58Speaker 2: to do a corporate events or private parts most weeks
- 6:01Speaker 2: actually all of the country. Wow.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:04Speaker 2: And do you have a manager who does his bookings?
- 6:07Speaker 2: You're looking at him?
- 6:08Speaker 3: You do all this by yourself? It's all insane on
- 6:11Speaker 3: stop shot baby, No assistant, no.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Pa, Well, I do have an assistant, but it's it's
- 6:15Speaker 2: really all going through me. I'm in control. I'm in
- 6:17Speaker 2: control for that, like making sure I understand sure the
- 6:20Speaker 2: same way to an extent. Who is your pa, my
- 6:23Speaker 2: friend that lives in Florida? Okay, love, maybe's a leader
- 6:26Speaker 2: one that she's got two kids and a baby daddy
- 6:29Speaker 2: at the tray to you'll hit me when you need
- 6:31Speaker 2: someone on the ground. Oh shoot, that's your h you
- 6:34Speaker 2: do yeah? Oh yeah, okay, i'd staffing baby. Then you
- 6:38Speaker 2: gotta make business of pleasure today, that's right, Okay, so
- 6:41Speaker 2: when you go out to eat.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I also do agree that New York, I feel is
- 6:45Speaker 1: one of the only cities where I don't all the
- 6:48Speaker 1: time I spend alone. I don't feel like I'm alone here,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and I'm very comfortable to go out to restaurants by
- 6:54Speaker 1: myself and have breakfast or lunch. I probably wouldn't do
- 6:58Speaker 1: that in any other city, Izier because of your surroundings
- 7:02Speaker 1: of people, the.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Energy which So do you dine solo? Ever? Sometimes I
- 7:06Speaker 2: haven't in a while, but I would, Well, I favorit
- 7:11Speaker 2: date a dining partner. I'm available, Yeah, but no, I
- 7:14Speaker 2: would say I would say ninety percent of my meals
- 7:17Speaker 2: are solo because the same is I'm very spontaneous. I
- 7:20Speaker 2: don't like I don't I'm not a planner. I never
- 7:23Speaker 2: planned my meals usually unless unless there's like a restaurant.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I really want to try to that. It's tough reservation,
- 7:28Speaker 2: but I rarely make reservations. I just leave my apartment.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I let the universe die me. So I like when
- 7:33Speaker 2: I like tonight, like I have no idea where I'm
- 7:35Speaker 2: having dinner tonight. I have a show and then in
- 7:37Speaker 2: Midtown and then I'll eat somewhere. But I have zero idea,
- 7:41Speaker 2: which I love. I love being spontaneous, and I basically
- 7:44Speaker 2: just let the universe die, which is kind of fun.
- 7:46Speaker 2: That's what makes life fun, being spontaneous. That's super fun.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And I said, I couldn't agree more. Do you know
- 7:50Speaker 2: where you're eating dinner tonight?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yes? Where the what's the coffee place on seventh ab
- 7:55Speaker 1: and Perry that has a restaurant attached to it stressed.
- 7:59Speaker 2: With an F. Yeah, good food there. Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I mean I normally would just go to SBB, but
- 8:05Speaker 3: I'm trying to be different, so because I'm.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Going back to other chests this week. Wait, have you
- 8:10Speaker 2: eaten there before, Clay? Yeah, I heard, I've never had
- 8:14Speaker 2: coffee there, but I always see lines that it's like
- 8:16Speaker 2: a viral. Is that like a vile coffee shop.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It's pretty good, you know another your potty shop there
- 8:21Speaker 1: to this morning the apartment for us.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's on tenth Street. Delicious. Did you get
- 8:27Speaker 2: the croissants? Are they famous for having like little mini
- 8:30Speaker 2: croyssal pastreets? I mean, it's not amazing, but that was
- 8:32Speaker 2: all my way to work out, so I just stopped
- 8:33Speaker 2: cough Oka. My favorite place in New York is a
- 8:36Speaker 2: coffee shop. It's called a Brasso on Seventh Street and
- 8:39Speaker 2: First Avenue. I go there every day every morning. I'm
- 8:42Speaker 2: there at eight am. I had my table, drink my
- 8:45Speaker 2: cold burn, and then I and I go in the
- 8:47Speaker 2: afternoon for a little cold Brewe pick me up. Well
- 8:50Speaker 2: do you eat so okay?
- 8:52Speaker 3: So coffee the same every single day lunch and dinner.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Are you a creature of habit? Do you like to
- 8:56Speaker 2: try new places? What's that like? A chan and I
- 9:00Speaker 2: like to try a different restaurant every every day. I
- 9:03Speaker 2: mean there's restaurants I go back to, of course, but
- 9:06Speaker 2: my goal is to try a different restaurant most nights
- 9:10Speaker 2: of the week. And then I like to post on
- 9:12Speaker 2: my Instagram where I'm eating, just to make people aware
- 9:15Speaker 2: of you. Know what's out there, and I go from
- 9:17Speaker 2: high end Michelin restaurants to low end dives in China's
- 9:20Speaker 2: out I like it all. And will they compy you
- 9:22Speaker 2: for posting? That's a great question. So I actually get
- 9:25Speaker 2: emails every day from publicists and restaurant owners and chefs
- 9:29Speaker 2: ask me to come into their restaurant. But I like
- 9:33Speaker 2: to go where I want when I want. Again, I like,
- 9:35Speaker 2: I let the universe didy. So I don't. I mean,
- 9:37Speaker 2: I can technically eat for free probably every meal if
- 9:39Speaker 2: I just go where I get emails from. But I don't.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I don't, but I get I mean, I do get Complicationally.
- 9:46Speaker 3: If you had an assistant to filter that can fill
- 9:49Speaker 3: out for.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Free meals in the city, yeah, yeah, someone for me,
- 9:53Speaker 2: I have someone for everyone. We could talk later, okay, yeah,
- 9:57Speaker 2: I mean the New York City restis teams. Wow, there's
- 9:59Speaker 2: there's like twenty seve thousand restaurants. There's a lot to
- 10:01Speaker 2: get to. There's a lot to get to. It kind
- 10:02Speaker 2: of gets you booked to get to all of them.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I've been to a single restaurant on my own block,
- 10:06Speaker 3: so that's a problem.
- 10:07Speaker 2: But oh you haven't, Well, you got blue you got
- 10:09Speaker 2: blue all down the block. Yeah, have you been to
- 10:12Speaker 2: Blue I'm sure? Yeah. Then I've been in the Bluehill
- 10:15Speaker 2: at Stone Barns, which is incredible, that Chary, Yeah, that's
- 10:19Speaker 2: a special place. And then you got this Bluegill right here,
- 10:22Speaker 2: which I haven't been doing a while. But pretty good too,
- 10:25Speaker 2: pretty good too.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Okay, So Foody Madget, So you when you're at these
- 10:31Speaker 1: restaurants do you can you turn off at all or
- 10:33Speaker 1: do you does it come naturally if if there's another
- 10:37Speaker 1: Patriot eating, do you do a little bit or are
- 10:40Speaker 1: you kind of just incognito let's do it?
- 10:43Speaker 2: Well, that's a great question. So some people get the
- 10:46Speaker 2: wrong idea. So I go to restaurants to eat, not
- 10:49Speaker 2: to do magic in the Foody Magician, But a lot
- 10:53Speaker 2: of times it does turn into dinner in a show.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Because if I'm sitting at a bar having a snacky
- 10:57Speaker 2: pataki and soone next to me, I strike up a
- 10:59Speaker 2: conversation with someone next to me and they're like, what
- 11:01Speaker 2: do you do for a living? Once I say I'm
- 11:03Speaker 2: a magician, and next line always is show me a trick,
- 11:06Speaker 2: and then it turns into dinner in a show. But
- 11:08Speaker 2: because I never say no, I always do. I get
- 11:11Speaker 2: work and I sometimes I get recognized and I get
- 11:13Speaker 2: requests from the chefs or Sarah's or bartenders. But I
- 11:16Speaker 2: always if someone asks me to do a trick, I
- 11:18Speaker 2: always do a trick. But my goal when I go
- 11:21Speaker 2: to restaurants is literally just eat, have a have a snack,
- 11:24Speaker 2: not too much. I call my Neil snacks, by the way,
- 11:27Speaker 2: I see that. But I do entertain if people want it, okay,
- 11:35Speaker 2: but I have to be on. I'm basically on twenty
- 11:37Speaker 2: four to seven.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Let's say your favorite actor is in a restaurant that
- 11:41Speaker 1: you were eating apt by yourself.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Would you go up to that person and introduce yourself
- 11:46Speaker 3: and do a trick.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Or do show? Some of the strange say, well, I
- 11:51Speaker 2: don't still have a favorite actor, favorite actor, favorite musician,
- 11:56Speaker 2: favorite you know. I don't like disturbing people actually actually,
- 12:00Speaker 2: because I don't want to disturb people while they're eating.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I would I would not. I would do that if
- 12:04Speaker 2: it happened organically or someone interesting. If someone introduced me.
- 12:06Speaker 2: That's how I do it, you know, like like when
- 12:09Speaker 2: we're I Sam vicente people, I get introduced to people
- 12:11Speaker 2: and then I do it. I don't go hey, you
- 12:12Speaker 2: want to see a trick.
- 12:13Speaker 3: I don't like that, right, Who is the coolest celebrity
- 12:17Speaker 3: you've ever done trim for?
- 12:18Speaker 2: Besides you? I would say, well, a lot, actually a lot,
- 12:22Speaker 2: and I don't want you want this is the time
- 12:24Speaker 2: podcast where I name drown you can name. It's just confidential.
- 12:27Speaker 2: It's QUI confidential.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's you know, we're not going to air
- 12:30Speaker 3: out people's laundery.
- 12:31Speaker 2: But who's your you know? Come on? Well?
- 12:34Speaker 3: Cool?
- 12:34Speaker 2: Is such an interview Terney like, like, I mean, I
- 12:36Speaker 2: would you know Taylor Swift is cool? I guess I
- 12:39Speaker 2: don't know if you're If you're Swifty, she's cool. I
- 12:41Speaker 2: actually think I was eating at the club the night
- 12:44Speaker 2: that she was there with Travis. Oh yeah, maybe maybe
- 12:47Speaker 2: she got footy magest. She got her traves, I got
- 12:49Speaker 2: footy magiest. Who else is cool? I meant Jimmy Fallon? Oh,
- 12:53Speaker 2: I mean I was on the Tonight Show, So Jimmy.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I love Jimmy Fallon. That was a dream come show? Yeah?
- 12:58Speaker 1: Was that?
- 12:58Speaker 2: Was that a total career highlight? Or yes? How did
- 13:01Speaker 2: that happen? That's so cool? That's a that's a very
- 13:03Speaker 2: long story that would take this the length of this podcast,
- 13:07Speaker 2: but just and that could be a whole podcast of
- 13:11Speaker 2: how it happened. But let's just say this. Any entertainer's
- 13:14Speaker 2: dream growing up since I was a kid. Now were
- 13:17Speaker 2: things on social media, but when you're an entertainer, comedian, whatever,
- 13:20Speaker 2: a magician, the dream is to be Johnny Carson, Jay Leno,
- 13:24Speaker 2: Jemmy fallon Tonights, the Tonight Show. That's the entertainer entertainer's hot.
- 13:29Speaker 2: So for at least ten minimum ten years, I've dreamt
- 13:32Speaker 2: about being on The Tonight Show every day. Every day
- 13:34Speaker 2: I dream about it, and dreams come sure, by the way,
- 13:37Speaker 2: sometimes they take three months a week, sometimes they take
- 13:40Speaker 2: ten years. But how it happened is kind of a
- 13:43Speaker 2: long story with twists and turns, but the end of
- 13:47Speaker 2: the story basically is I was walking on the street
- 13:51Speaker 2: in the East Village and I walked by a publicist
- 13:54Speaker 2: friend of mine who I was like, Hey. Her name
- 13:56Speaker 2: was Alana, She's a food restaurant publicist. She goes, hey, Josh,
- 14:00Speaker 2: are you good to see you? And she goes, hey,
- 14:03Speaker 2: do you have any interests seeing the Tonight Show? I
- 14:06Speaker 2: can get us tickets. I go, no, I don't want
- 14:09Speaker 2: to see the Tonight show. I go watch it on TV.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I want to be on the Night Show. She goes, okay, fine,
- 14:15Speaker 2: I'm like, no, you know what, Alana, Yes, actually no,
- 14:18Speaker 2: I'll go with you. She goes, okay, email me the
- 14:20Speaker 2: dates you can go. I go home. I email her
- 14:22Speaker 2: the dates I can go. She emails her contact from
- 14:26Speaker 2: the Tonight Show for tickets to see the show, and
- 14:30Speaker 2: she goes, all right, I'm gonna we'll go on this date.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I'm bringing this girl. I'm bringing Josh beckerum in the
- 14:35Speaker 2: Foody Magician. Oh you should look at the Foody Magician.
- 14:38Speaker 2: He's done all the shows but yours. So she can
- 14:41Speaker 2: act me the girl from the Night Show who pitches
- 14:43Speaker 2: me to her team. The head of the team the
- 14:45Speaker 2: showrun of the show had I had met six months
- 14:50Speaker 2: prior at my friend's birthday party and showed him my
- 14:53Speaker 2: stuff and his and blew him away. And the guy
- 14:56Speaker 2: remembers me. He goes, oh yeah, I met him. And
- 14:58Speaker 2: then April seventh, three hours on the Night Show. Dream
- 15:01Speaker 2: come true, and I could do it again. To be honest,
- 15:03Speaker 2: we will you love? That was a dream come true.
- 15:06Speaker 2: That was a come true? Sure, I mean that is
- 15:09Speaker 2: that is goals.
- 15:10Speaker 3: I would love to be on the Tonight show too,
- 15:12Speaker 3: but I don't know if he'll he'll take.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Me, and well, maybe you find them a good assistant. Yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Actually his assistant has been with him for a long time.
- 15:20Speaker 2: She's amazing. We met a couple of years ago. Pretty
- 15:23Speaker 2: miss Kelly. Oh that must have mattered.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I'm sure you do a regular series or at SVV.
- 15:30Speaker 1: What's your relationship with the club?
- 15:31Speaker 2: Like? And when you're there? Do they ask you to
- 15:34Speaker 2: show up on certain Do your listeners know what SVB is?
- 15:37Speaker 2: Sam Bob not? But no I don't. Well, so I'm
- 15:44Speaker 2: a Sam said the Bungalow Is Members Club Privy Members
- 15:47Speaker 2: Club with West Hollywood, Sam Monta now here in New
- 15:49Speaker 2: York City on Jane Street. I'm a member there. I
- 15:52Speaker 2: have to say that there's there's those stickers on my phone.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I remember I do stickers on the phone.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I will see girly is walking around with the stickers
- 16:03Speaker 1: on the phone for weeks months. One of my friends
- 16:06Speaker 1: is really guilty of it.
- 16:08Speaker 2: So I see it all the time. Girl, I know
- 16:11Speaker 2: it's I don't know. Actually, I don't know if they're
- 16:13Speaker 2: trying to be cool because you're not cool, because they're
- 16:14Speaker 2: a member. You have to stick on your phone. You
- 16:17Speaker 2: can't take picks. But well, I do shows. They're like
- 16:24Speaker 2: three or four times a year. And the New York
- 16:25Speaker 2: won the West Hollywood one in the Santa Monica one there,
- 16:32Speaker 2: So I do do shows there occasionally. I mean, not
- 16:35Speaker 2: for money, just for fun. Like when I have corporate
- 16:37Speaker 2: events or private parties in La, I will first of
- 16:40Speaker 2: all stay at the Sama Senta bungalow. That's where you stay.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And then if I'm in La i'm doing a show,
- 16:44Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, you know what, let me just do
- 16:45Speaker 2: a show for the members because I love performing and
- 16:49Speaker 2: it's fun to entertain members that I'm also you know,
- 16:54Speaker 2: I'm friends with you. It's it's kind of fine. It's
- 16:57Speaker 2: kind of about like a family, you know, the Sama
- 16:59Speaker 2: Sente Members club family. Yeah. Yeah, a family of people
- 17:05Speaker 2: in the entertain industry that are really cool. A couple
- 17:07Speaker 2: of celebs and producers and actors and directors. And then
- 17:13Speaker 2: and then sometimes when I go there, I like, I
- 17:15Speaker 2: don't like staying home, Like I'll just come go to
- 17:18Speaker 2: the club and and I'll I'll do some tricks to
- 17:22Speaker 2: people of per request. You know, the LA show is great.
- 17:26Speaker 2: You saw you see you see more than one of
- 17:27Speaker 2: my show.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Actually, right, I've seen you at the west Ville's location.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I didn't go. I was hoping to do that show.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I think I had something. Wait, it showed that you
- 17:37Speaker 2: saw me, and I like for the first show you saw. Yeah,
- 17:40Speaker 2: but you did all your tricks on me at dinner
- 17:43Speaker 2: one night, but not why to do all of them?
- 17:45Speaker 2: But I got more than It's not more than just
- 17:48Speaker 2: dinner tricks.
- 17:49Speaker 3: But but.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Because the show you saw I did in the same
- 17:53Speaker 2: SAT Day Bungalows in LA was one of the best
- 17:55Speaker 2: shows in my career. It was amazing and our body experience.
- 17:58Speaker 2: All my friends were blown away. Good good good. I
- 18:01Speaker 2: don't know hashtag still single for some reason. But that's
- 18:03Speaker 2: okay about But no, like my favorite drug, like I
- 18:07Speaker 2: don't drink by the way, by choice, by choice, Okay,
- 18:10Speaker 2: I do like the occasional five yellogram Camino gummy. Sometimes
- 18:16Speaker 2: I do two three. I can't take weed gummies. Why.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I actually never told.
- 18:22Speaker 2: This story live, but here we are. I but it's
- 18:28Speaker 2: three years ago. My friend Cameron came over.
- 18:31Speaker 1: And watched a movie and we had a guy drop
- 18:34Speaker 1: off weed gummies and I had never taken a weed
- 18:38Speaker 1: gummy in my life and was stelling cocky and I
- 18:41Speaker 1: just plopped one in my mouth and it was thirty
- 18:44Speaker 1: six pilograms ooopsies.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Five seconds later, my eyeballs just like bloodshot.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I called niel one at myself. I thought I was
- 18:51Speaker 2: taking my last breaths.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I freaked out, lost total body control to thirteen hours
- 18:55Speaker 1: to come down from wow, and the doorman had to come.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Up and sit with me because I was freaking thirty six.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Verst of all was a weird amount of milligrams number one,
- 19:05Speaker 2: number two. That's the shitload of yeah uh weed. So
- 19:08Speaker 2: I yeah, I can't if I do ten miligrams, I'm
- 19:10Speaker 2: trip and balls.
- 19:11Speaker 1: But I'm jealous all the people who are my friends
- 19:15Speaker 1: who like to take week, go easy for bed and
- 19:17Speaker 1: have the best of their lives.
- 19:19Speaker 2: I feel left out because I will never touch it again.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah well, I mean yeah, I like the little microtos,
- 19:27Speaker 2: but my favorite drug is the entertainer's high. I like
- 19:30Speaker 2: like and so you actually saw me fucked up on
- 19:32Speaker 2: an entertainer's high when he saw my show because I
- 19:35Speaker 2: was I was having the I have out of her
- 19:37Speaker 2: body experiences. It's kind of like being zoned. You know
- 19:40Speaker 2: Michael Geordan hitting threes. I was in the zone that night,
- 19:43Speaker 2: and you can tell your listeners that there was around
- 19:45Speaker 2: sixty people standing room only at the theater. I memorize
- 19:49Speaker 2: everyone was lean and introduced the audience before the show.
- 19:51Speaker 2: It was kind of wild. It was wild.
- 19:53Speaker 1: The dad sitting in front of me was freaking out
- 19:55Speaker 1: the whole time. He returned to his daughter after all
- 19:58Speaker 1: of your bits.
- 20:00Speaker 2: What the fuck like, he was freaking out.
- 20:03Speaker 3: He was so shocked, especially after the dollar trick.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Oh yes, oh, yes, that was a fun show. But
- 20:09Speaker 2: we'll do some magic today. Wait. So Sarah and my
- 20:14Speaker 2: friend Willie were there with me that night and they.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Said that you had a fun.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Oh, they said that they had some I talked to
- 20:23Speaker 1: them after you made I remember that they text me and.
- 20:26Speaker 2: They said that they sat with you for like two
- 20:28Speaker 2: and a half hours. Well that was an exaggeration, but
- 20:31Speaker 2: I remember there was a girl that wanted to that
- 20:34Speaker 2: was in my audience, that wanted my number because I
- 20:37Speaker 2: tell the audience I'm single, and then I ended up
- 20:39Speaker 2: sitting with your friends, which was a mistake because I
- 20:41Speaker 2: should have sat with the girl at a single but
- 20:43Speaker 2: they kind of cocklocked me with that's okay, But no,
- 20:46Speaker 2: we had fun. They got they got to know, they
- 20:48Speaker 2: got to know a little more about the food. Imagic.
- 20:50Speaker 1: That night.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Yeah, we went kind of deep. We went deep. We
- 20:54Speaker 2: went deep. We really did onced you guys talk about
- 20:57Speaker 2: I don't know more than I should have said. I talked.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I gave all the details. Willie Goes. I asked him
- 21:03Speaker 2: if he's ever been in love? Are you asking? I know,
- 21:06Speaker 2: a little question. And I had a girl that wanted
- 21:09Speaker 2: to hang out with me and I'm talking, He's talking
- 21:11Speaker 2: to me not a lot, but he totally fucked up
- 21:12Speaker 2: my game that night. That's okay. I don't know. I
- 21:14Speaker 2: was going. I was just let again. I let the
- 21:15Speaker 2: universe out, the universe guide me. They wanted to chat
- 21:18Speaker 2: like I was a chat with you, the deep chat.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I actually to a lot, so I should have stayed.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they should have stayed. Got not effect. It
- 21:26Speaker 2: wasn't two and a half hours like twenty futs, but
- 21:28Speaker 2: it seemed like two and a half hours because we
- 21:30Speaker 2: got deep. And after after that, Congo was like, why
- 21:32Speaker 2: did I just tell everything to rand? It was at
- 21:35Speaker 2: these members called that was a week my time. But
- 21:37Speaker 2: it was fun. Hilarious. Well, I have to be on
- 21:41Speaker 2: twenty four to seven. That's the thing about me, though,
- 21:43Speaker 2: I have to like it's very hard to turn to
- 21:46Speaker 2: switch off. Yeah, because well for multiple reasons, but like
- 21:50Speaker 2: big dates or because you never know who you get
- 21:52Speaker 2: a meet. So what I want to I want to
- 21:55Speaker 2: know more about that. So if you're yeah, turning off,
- 21:59Speaker 2: I have this question for like my psychics, like how
- 22:01Speaker 2: do they attach to a lot of psychics, how.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Do they turn off if they're with family.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Or on a date? How do you do that? Do?
- 22:09Speaker 1: I mean?
- 22:09Speaker 2: I rarely turn off to be honest, Like I'm thinking
- 22:11Speaker 2: about maybe going to Mexico to lay on the beach
- 22:14Speaker 2: just and that that could I could turn out if
- 22:16Speaker 2: I'm not around people. But so the thing is, you know,
- 22:20Speaker 2: I've been entertaining since I was born. Really my name
- 22:22Speaker 2: is Josh, which is kind of a metaphor for my life.
- 22:24Speaker 2: You ever hear the term just joshing you, Well, I've
- 22:27Speaker 2: been joshing people since nineteen eighty. I give away my asia,
- 22:31Speaker 2: but it's.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Okay, so.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Me but like my goal in life actually is to
- 22:37Speaker 2: really is to make people laugh and smile and sometimes
- 22:40Speaker 2: cry with joy. So I just utilized magic and mentalism
- 22:45Speaker 2: to do that, and comedy, I guess. But as long
- 22:47Speaker 2: as people are laughing and having fun, that's all I care.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I actually don't mind that. I don't have to turn
- 22:52Speaker 2: it off because I'm my goal. I just want people
- 22:54Speaker 2: like happy and positive. So that's why I really never
- 22:58Speaker 2: turn it off.
- 22:59Speaker 1: If you're on a date and you see you said that,
- 23:02Speaker 1: sometimes you see names or letters about someone's head.
- 23:06Speaker 2: If you're sitting across from a girl and you see something,
- 23:09Speaker 2: do you see something? Say something? No? Yeah, but I don't.
- 23:12Speaker 2: It doesn't happen often. Let means I should say that.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I mean what I do for letingis chur entertainment. So
- 23:19Speaker 2: but I tend to entertain time on date, I can't
- 23:27Speaker 2: think it the least thon I didn't do it. That's
- 23:28Speaker 2: trick on a date, I'm trying to think did I Yeah, yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 2: I usually, Well, I got to stand out from the
- 23:35Speaker 2: rest of the crew if they're invested, the boys out there,
- 23:37Speaker 2: you know, no one else is reading minds on data. Hello. Hello,
- 23:41Speaker 2: But don't you want to I don't know. Do you
- 23:44Speaker 2: want to ever turn Do you find yourself wanting to.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Turn it off or wanting to get vulnerable or go
- 23:49Speaker 1: deeper with a why I like to nix it all.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I mean I guess yes, I guess yeah, No, yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 2: I guess yes. But again when when when when trying
- 23:58Speaker 2: to make people laugh smiles ingraining you since you were born?
- 24:02Speaker 2: It's just kind of like it's part of Actually, it's
- 24:04Speaker 2: kind of like breathing to me. So but yeah, I
- 24:06Speaker 2: mean it is nice to turn off once in a while.
- 24:09Speaker 2: But again, I've been been like this since I was born, really,
- 24:13Speaker 2: so it's just part of my life. Really, it's part
- 24:15Speaker 2: It's like breathing for me. Yeah. And do you think that,
- 24:19Speaker 2: I mean, I personally think that you were born with
- 24:23Speaker 2: some powers. I don't think that you can do what
- 24:27Speaker 2: you do without. Well, let's be real. First of all,
- 24:29Speaker 2: I'm good at my job. That's number one. Number two,
- 24:31Speaker 2: it is magicians and mentalists. I can it's all. It's
- 24:35Speaker 2: all learned techniques and methods. It's and it's all anyone
- 24:39Speaker 2: can learn how to do it. I could learn how
- 24:41Speaker 2: to do it. You can learn how to do it.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I can tell you how I do it. But delivering
- 24:44Speaker 2: it in an entertaining show and matter is a whole
- 24:47Speaker 2: another ball game, and mayking a business and a career
- 24:49Speaker 2: of it is another whole level ball game. So yeah,
- 24:52Speaker 2: but I can mean, I could tell if I could,
- 24:54Speaker 2: I can do a trick and tell you how to
- 24:56Speaker 2: do it. Do it? Yeah, even the mind ones that's crazy.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I'm not gonna tell you because I got to pay
- 25:01Speaker 2: the rent tonight. But you know it's all learned. I
- 25:04Speaker 2: don't believe that's learned. Let's try something out, because I
- 25:06Speaker 2: actually have a signature trek because as the foody magician,
- 25:10Speaker 2: the only magician, mentalist comedian in the world that just
- 25:13Speaker 2: eats at restaurants all day and night. As I mentioned,
- 25:18Speaker 2: by the way, the only thing in my fridge is
- 25:19Speaker 2: bottles of water, and teach seagummies that that's the only
- 25:22Speaker 2: thing in my fridge. I should send you a pische
- 25:25Speaker 2: honest say, my fridge is pretty empty too. I've got
- 25:27Speaker 2: lemon perfects and water. But so I so in twenty
- 25:32Speaker 2: ten when I said I got into mentalism, I always
- 25:38Speaker 2: I always saw mentalists do the same trek, and I
- 25:40Speaker 2: still see mentalists today. They always tell the audience think
- 25:42Speaker 2: of the first person you ever kiss, or think about
- 25:45Speaker 2: your first crush, right, And I could do that and
- 25:49Speaker 2: but I was like, you know what, I'm a foody magician.
- 25:52Speaker 2: I got to do something more on brand. So I
- 25:53Speaker 2: started in twenty ten saying, think of your favorite restaurant.
- 25:57Speaker 2: I think of a restaurant that you lack right in
- 25:59Speaker 2: your mind. So I wanted to brand that trick to
- 26:04Speaker 2: foody magicians, Vyle, you know so, and that that actually
- 26:07Speaker 2: that's the trick. A year later I started doing that,
- 26:10Speaker 2: and then a year later that's when the New York
- 26:11Speaker 2: Times wrote about me, and they focused on that one track.
- 26:13Speaker 2: So we're trying that with you right now. Actually, so
- 26:15Speaker 2: there's twenty seven thousand restaurants in New York all you
- 26:17Speaker 2: need to do, and I'm ready done you in the past.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Do you have a restur on your mind right now?
- 26:21Speaker 2: Then you're like, New York, Yes, right now, yes, And
- 26:23Speaker 2: just so the audience knows you have not told me
- 26:25Speaker 2: a thing correct of course, that this is literally in
- 26:27Speaker 2: your mind. When I do a little mentalism min rating,
- 26:31Speaker 2: it takes me about sixty seconds to read them, read
- 26:34Speaker 2: them mind, meaning I'm going to start seeing something all
- 26:36Speaker 2: out right now to try to READO Metgan what I
- 26:39Speaker 2: say it loud, could be wrong, it could be right.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Just be poker face and once I think I have it,
- 26:45Speaker 2: and we'll I see, well right down on this pad
- 26:49Speaker 2: here now if they're if people are listening, that will
- 26:51Speaker 2: tell them what I write. And then which camera should
- 26:55Speaker 2: I focus on? The middle one or this one?
- 26:58Speaker 1: That one?
- 26:58Speaker 2: So, so you're from where originally? Midpasset, New York? Okay,
- 27:03Speaker 2: I'm from a stony work, Long Island. We're both from
- 27:04Speaker 2: land and see, oh I should say this. My shows
- 27:06Speaker 2: that I do around the world are about connection. Everyone's connected.
- 27:10Speaker 2: He knows something for five minutes or thirty years, doesn't matter.
- 27:12Speaker 2: We're all connected. You and I are both Long Island girls.
- 27:14Speaker 2: That's right, We're a Long Island girl. Least, do people
- 27:17Speaker 2: ever ask for your accents? I guess that all the time.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Not really. I'm really happy. Are you saying I have
- 27:22Speaker 2: an accent? No ms, and you don't have one? Thank
- 27:25Speaker 2: you don't want to? Thank god, it'd be embarrassing. You
- 27:30Speaker 2: don't have an accent, by the way, Yeah, thank god.
- 27:33Speaker 2: So the restaurant in your mind, have you been there
- 27:34Speaker 2: this year? Yes or no? Yes? No? Let me ask
- 27:40Speaker 2: you to have you Do you have a favorite dish
- 27:42Speaker 2: of this restaurant? Yes or no? Yes? All right, so
- 27:44Speaker 2: it's in your mind. Sixty seconds o'clock. So everyone listening,
- 27:48Speaker 2: Megan is thinking of a restaurant. I'm from New York
- 27:50Speaker 2: and I'm gonna try to read your mind. Clock starts
- 27:52Speaker 2: now now Long Island. Maybe you're thinking us something Italian
- 27:57Speaker 2: like Carbone or Emilio's a lot of great chicken. Parm
- 28:01Speaker 2: I love a restaurant called tree Z Bar and restaurant
- 28:04Speaker 2: on Mulberry Street. For me, the TORLINI to dive for. Nope,
- 28:07Speaker 2: I'm thinking so, Meg Meg, I do not think so.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Maybe it's about mister Chow overrated, no Boot, Nope, not
- 28:13Speaker 2: to night Grim nine ten night. Maybe you're thinking about
- 28:16Speaker 2: melos avor keikis in the Lower east Side. No Kiki's
- 28:19Speaker 2: is four blocks away from a restaurant called Bo's Wanton Game.
- 28:22Speaker 2: For me, it's the best Wanton soup in New York.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Three different flavors of Wanton's diluge. Not the night, Honey,
- 28:28Speaker 2: not the night We're with my little Clyde confidential. I
- 28:31Speaker 2: have a little snacky bittaki. Maybe you think about Cafe
- 28:34Speaker 2: Mogador now we're here in the West Village. Maybe you
- 28:36Speaker 2: thinking about Lara Tusi or I go a place called
- 28:39Speaker 2: Jiju noodle bar, kind of like a cree noodle spot.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Maybe you're thinking about pastise for a little steak free.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Not my little Manhasset mama, Not my little Manhasset Mama.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Ten seconds off, I'm gonna go this. Do you know
- 28:53Speaker 2: the area of New York? Yes? Or no? Yeah, focus
- 28:55Speaker 2: in the area. I'm gonna go to this area, and
- 28:56Speaker 2: I'm I'm riding right now on a bad the area.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Now I'm gonna actually, I'm gonna come to the camera
- 29:02Speaker 2: so if they can see, I'm gonna get up in
- 29:04Speaker 2: a second. There's a dish coming. I'm gonna go this dish.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I don't know twenty seven thousand restaurants. There's literally one
- 29:11Speaker 2: in your mind. Okay, this is what I'm thinking up. Okay,
- 29:16Speaker 2: I'm gonna go to the camera. I wrote down an
- 29:18Speaker 2: area dish, and I wrote down a restaurant. Are you
- 29:20Speaker 2: thinking about a Korean restaurant? You like the A five
- 29:23Speaker 2: logume it's called Coach Korean steakhouts, Yes? Or no coat Korea?
- 29:26Speaker 2: Think out You're gonna coat? No, Actually, I don't. You
- 29:31Speaker 2: don't need meat, not read one bucket, not red meat. Okay, Okay,
- 29:34Speaker 2: I ask you some of the restaurant that you're thinking about.
- 29:36Speaker 2: What area of New York's it in? Soho? Are you
- 29:39Speaker 2: thinking about a restaurant called lore Fish Bar? No at
- 29:42Speaker 2: at twenty seven thousand restaurants, Meggie Grimm Clyde Confidential. What
- 29:45Speaker 2: restaurant is in your mind? Say it out loud? Finelli Cafe.
- 29:49Speaker 2: When I write, tell everyone what I write, Say out
- 29:51Speaker 2: loud what I write? Selo, right, yeah, what's your favorite
- 29:54Speaker 2: dish name? By the way, the turkey, chilly turkey? That's me?
- 29:59Speaker 2: Red meat or white me?
- 30:00Speaker 3: No?
- 30:01Speaker 2: Red meat? Oh you eat white meat? Yeah? Okay, girl,
- 30:04Speaker 2: can you please welcome a little turkey? Can we here
- 30:06Speaker 2: a little guy? Have gobble? Gobble? No? Thanks, gamings can
- 30:08Speaker 2: have that? You see the way that my eyes just moved.
- 30:11Speaker 2: By the way, Megan, you just got foody? But good
- 30:13Speaker 2: up for Megan's ring over one. But by the way,
- 30:15Speaker 2: did you tell can you tell everyone who's not watching?
- 30:17Speaker 2: Anybody got it down? Are you impressed? That's insane that
- 30:21Speaker 2: your truck. Have you actually ever had the chili there
- 30:23Speaker 2: in the winter? No? No, I don't even know if
- 30:25Speaker 2: I ever have the burger there. But they're famous for
- 30:28Speaker 2: a burger right, they are very famous for the burger.
- 30:30Speaker 3: But since there only read me, I get the chili
- 30:32Speaker 3: and the winter.
- 30:33Speaker 1: They have a really chic chili cart parked right outside
- 30:37Speaker 1: the rockstaurant that you can go up and get a
- 30:39Speaker 1: to go cup.
- 30:39Speaker 2: So I walk there when I'm home for the holidays.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I will go to Fineale most days for lunch. But
- 30:45Speaker 2: this is a great for the food magician is a
- 30:47Speaker 2: great who knows every restaurant in New York and everything
- 30:49Speaker 2: about food. This is a great little chimp. And you
- 30:52Speaker 2: know the turkey chili. That's where it's absolutely I be
- 30:57Speaker 2: thinking about turkey chili all day. Now. They get after
- 30:59Speaker 2: that and then they get a little side of cheese,
- 31:01Speaker 2: and wow, what a great And I don't I don't
- 31:07Speaker 2: freak with the finale. I think it's a hotspot. All
- 31:09Speaker 2: the kids all love that spot lunch during the week. Yeah,
- 31:13Speaker 2: I've never even thought about that for los.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I like to go around the holidays because then I
- 31:17Speaker 1: hit Prince Street do my Christmas shopping and then stop
- 31:20Speaker 1: for solo Finale.
- 31:21Speaker 2: So I know, I know so much about New York
- 31:23Speaker 2: City restauran industry, and they're so so the greatest city
- 31:27Speaker 2: in the world for food is New York City. And
- 31:31Speaker 2: there's a lot of great cities in the world for food,
- 31:33Speaker 2: but I'll tell you what New York City is the best.
- 31:34Speaker 2: It's because you can literally walk to an American, Japanese,
- 31:38Speaker 2: Green Tai eating these and Asian, Italian, Greek restaurant all
- 31:41Speaker 2: on the same street. And then you have different parts.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Then you have Flushing Queens, which is like another little China.
- 31:46Speaker 2: You got Brooklyn, which has so many great spots, wine bars,
- 31:49Speaker 2: Italian joints, hidden gems all over. New York City is
- 31:52Speaker 2: hands down in the best place in the world for food. Great.
- 31:57Speaker 2: One of my favorite places in the world to eat
- 31:59Speaker 2: also is a place called sat To Bastian in Spain.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Have you did I have not been to the film
- 32:03Speaker 2: festival there ere, Yeah, so the film festival and they
- 32:06Speaker 2: have but Santsa Bashian is great. They have all these
- 32:08Speaker 2: well they have actually a lot of Michelin star restaurants.
- 32:10Speaker 2: But in the Old Town they have all these pincho
- 32:12Speaker 2: spars where you go, you you grab a wine if
- 32:16Speaker 2: you drink, and then and you and all the foods
- 32:19Speaker 2: on the bar, the the Hams, the Christines, the crabs,
- 32:22Speaker 2: the criquettes, it's all you put it on your plate,
- 32:24Speaker 2: you take it sansakashi, say, I love. But there's a
- 32:28Speaker 2: lot of great food towns. I was in Where did
- 32:30Speaker 2: I go? In September? I was in Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok,
- 32:34Speaker 2: Pogres just for fun, just for some snacky batakis, and
- 32:38Speaker 2: Bangkok was number one. I haven't been to Japan. Have
- 32:41Speaker 2: you been to Japan? Not yet? You can't have a
- 32:43Speaker 2: bad meal in Japan. Japan is amazing. Sushi is my favorite.
- 32:47Speaker 2: I love to have me too. I mean, if you
- 32:49Speaker 2: told me Josh, you have to eat sushi every day
- 32:51Speaker 2: till the day died, like shore, same, what's your favorite
- 32:54Speaker 2: sushi in New York? And you're gonna ask that? I
- 32:57Speaker 2: was thinking, So if you tell me where you are,
- 32:59Speaker 2: I tell you where to eat. If I'm here, where
- 33:00Speaker 2: you live? I don't know if you I don't know
- 33:02Speaker 2: how details you want to get. Who's listening? I don't
- 33:04Speaker 2: know if you have any stalkers listening or people that
- 33:06Speaker 2: posted you. But but well, not to bring that up.
- 33:13Speaker 2: But anyway, actually here here have you been a sushi kid? Sue?
- 33:16Speaker 2: It's right near here. No, it's still open. I think
- 33:19Speaker 2: it's open, right, I want to suv for every meal. Actually,
- 33:23Speaker 2: by the way, they actually have good sushi there. The
- 33:25Speaker 2: rule all the two and I get the pieces the
- 33:27Speaker 2: twue tour. I like to Oh that is my favorite thing.
- 33:31Speaker 2: But you so so you told me where you are,
- 33:33Speaker 2: I'll tell you where to eat. So sushi kisuwe is
- 33:36Speaker 2: very good on how so I like sushi four five six, Yes,
- 33:38Speaker 2: that's near here. And then there's a restaurant near being
- 33:41Speaker 2: the East Villas. Is also you here in the wat
- 33:43Speaker 2: Folk for makase. I love this pisical sushi Kai k
- 33:46Speaker 2: a I live in.
- 33:47Speaker 3: I've seen it on caviar and posts.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I think I have not know you need you know,
- 33:54Speaker 2: you know, you know, you know you need to go
- 33:56Speaker 2: to Sushi Kai West Hills with no Yeah right Frank,
- 33:59Speaker 2: this guy, this guy. But anyway, so I do love sushi.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I love your next job. Ever, maybe people laugh and eat. Yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 2: eating at restaurants all day. My favorite restaurant of the
- 34:10Speaker 2: year is you know, restaurants in New York are opening
- 34:12Speaker 2: and closing every week, and there's so many great ones.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Uh.
- 34:16Speaker 2: There's a restaurant in Lori's side called Sons Su and
- 34:19Speaker 2: then apastro Vs. It's a Korean restaurant. You do you
- 34:22Speaker 2: fuck with Korean food? No, I don't mean green barbecue.
- 34:25Speaker 2: It's just like maybe the boch you know who bonch
- 34:29Speaker 2: On is. It's like the little appetizers they bring before
- 34:32Speaker 2: they bring you barbecue. But this restaurant is a very
- 34:35Speaker 2: small almost like a Japanese iszakayah, but it's Korean. That's
- 34:39Speaker 2: my favorite restaurant of the year. And then I had
- 34:42Speaker 2: the best Geet knee Wood that ever had on Third
- 34:44Speaker 2: Avenue between thirteenth and twelve of these village bond on
- 34:47Speaker 2: m incredible, best bomb you have ever had, best fa've
- 34:50Speaker 2: ever had, bond on M on Third Avenue, unbelievable. Then
- 34:55Speaker 2: if you want more of a scene, American classics, Danny's.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Do you know Dan Abrams is he's kind of a
- 35:01Speaker 2: media personality. Oh yeah, yeah. He opened up a restaurant
- 35:05Speaker 2: on twenty second Street between fifth and six called Danny's American.
- 35:09Speaker 2: He's married to.
- 35:10Speaker 3: My or he's married to my old my first one
- 35:14Speaker 3: of my first.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Bosses at Rolph Floren. Oh hey, I'll see we're all
- 35:17Speaker 2: conect to next. It's unbelievable. But he opened up a
- 35:20Speaker 2: great restaurant, the great chef. I really like it. They
- 35:22Speaker 2: have an elevated hot pocket dish which has like which
- 35:26Speaker 2: is like ham on aged ham on top and cheese
- 35:29Speaker 2: and the little a little honey, Oh delash. She liked
- 35:31Speaker 2: the hot pockets from Corner Store. I did the pizza hop.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I do like that.
- 35:35Speaker 1: I do like that.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Yeah, those are pretty naughty. I like the Corner Store
- 35:37Speaker 2: is pretty good. Actually, I do like that. Affect some
- 35:39Speaker 2: good meals there, sexy vibe, great vibe. I tried their
- 35:42Speaker 2: new hot spot, the eighty six, and he tried going
- 35:44Speaker 2: there on Friday. I'm excited. How would I know that?
- 35:47Speaker 2: Footy majest mom, But now it's pretty. It's good. It's
- 35:49Speaker 2: only ten tables, very small. Yeah, tough to get a
- 35:52Speaker 2: tough resume. And you had a ressie. Look at you,
- 35:53Speaker 2: a little magician over here.
- 35:55Speaker 1: The major d at eighty six end Corner Store is
- 35:57Speaker 1: a good friend of mine and helps me with a
- 35:59Speaker 1: lot of reservations clients.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Oh, he's good to me. The eighty six is very cool,
- 36:03Speaker 2: very very cool space cut this like modern retro vibe
- 36:06Speaker 2: to it.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I went, yeah, I went there, I eat there and
- 36:10Speaker 2: we will let's move on. Ye, the food there I
- 36:15Speaker 2: know the chef, it's a great chef. But the food
- 36:17Speaker 2: was there. And now you know what, I know I
- 36:19Speaker 2: closed for years. It wasn't that long. I know Charlie's
- 36:23Speaker 2: was still had all the holiday decor. Oh I don't
- 36:30Speaker 2: remember that. Oh my gosh, it was magical. Great. But
- 36:34Speaker 2: you'll you'll enjoy the eighty six. I mean they're they're
- 36:37Speaker 2: famous for. They're French dip sandwich. That's it. Yeah, No,
- 36:41Speaker 2: they're cheese steaks. The cheese take a French dep I know,
- 36:43Speaker 2: because I know the corn stores are French dep right, Yeah,
- 36:45Speaker 2: which is very good.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't eat cheese steak, but you're not a
- 36:48Speaker 3: red Meeker on their mine.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll find something so that that. I told the
- 36:52Speaker 2: chef they got to get a turkey Chile only anyone
- 36:54Speaker 2: that Maybe that'll be fun. Danny's is very good too.
- 36:59Speaker 2: I like to do the list of all these thoughts
- 37:02Speaker 2: in my mind. It's all my mind.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I mean, you should put that on paper.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Well post I mean I post post my nails on
- 37:08Speaker 2: my Instagram. So Instagram is more food and restaurants than magic,
- 37:12Speaker 2: which is kind of sad. And it's like, hey, the
- 37:13Speaker 2: bills don't magic but we're like, oh do magic, Well,
- 37:16Speaker 2: I think you should eat all day, which they do.
- 37:17Speaker 1: But I went to show someone your page before the show,
- 37:21Speaker 1: and it thought to myself, this is actually not the
- 37:24Speaker 1: best representation of the magic because it's a whole food.
- 37:26Speaker 2: No, but I like to save the magic for like
- 37:28Speaker 2: in person live, because to be something people wanting more.
- 37:31Speaker 2: I guess. I don't know, but I guess it's a
- 37:33Speaker 2: little I got a brand better because I got if
- 37:37Speaker 2: I want this, If I want someone to see my
- 37:39Speaker 2: instagram sending them book you know how they know.
- 37:42Speaker 3: So how do you get most of your bookings is
- 37:43Speaker 3: or orferrals?
- 37:44Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean it's mainly people who see my show.
- 37:47Speaker 2: This my show is not pretty good actually, and you
- 37:50Speaker 2: see it, and then people in my audience then they
- 37:51Speaker 2: tell people. But I'm in. I want to see them
- 37:55Speaker 2: on the pulse. People know the food I magic. You know.
- 37:57Speaker 2: I want to have a party soon. I don't know
- 37:59Speaker 2: for what, and I would like to book you very
- 38:03Speaker 2: very expensive, but maybe I'll give you a client confidential disdog,
- 38:06Speaker 2: you know, but speak about magic. Actually, not only do
- 38:10Speaker 2: I and food and restaurants. Not only do I love
- 38:13Speaker 2: food and restaurants, I also love dogs. Okay, do you
- 38:15Speaker 2: like dogs? Sure? Do you? I have two, Mike. Oh
- 38:18Speaker 2: they're not here, dog, No, they're daycare.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Oh it's so cute because if they were here, this
- 38:23Speaker 1: microphone would have a huge chunk missing out of it,
- 38:26Speaker 1: and my French bull.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Dog would be up on the couch because breathing.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Really had they so cute? So cute. But my Instagram
- 38:33Speaker 2: is all food, food, food, a keychs have thrown a dog? Now,
- 38:36Speaker 2: when you were brought up a kid, did you ever
- 38:38Speaker 2: have a dog or your parents ever have a dog?
- 38:40Speaker 3: I was never allowed to have dogs as a kid,
- 38:42Speaker 3: which is why I have two now.
- 38:43Speaker 2: But before I was born, my parents had a dog.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Do you know any of the dog? Yes or no?
- 38:49Speaker 2: Don't say it though yes, yes, think of it in
- 38:50Speaker 2: your mind. Okay, okay. Now when I was a kid,
- 38:53Speaker 2: I used to do car trips, as I mentioned now,
- 38:54Speaker 2: especially with a mentalism, and my shows are about connection.
- 38:57Speaker 2: What I want you to do is think about the
- 38:59Speaker 2: number letters on the dog's name. Now it's more than three,
- 39:02Speaker 2: you're gonna have to count, so I won't watch you.
- 39:04Speaker 2: But once you have the number of letters in your
- 39:06Speaker 2: uh in the in the nand dog let me know.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I don't want to watch you counted your counting. I
- 39:11Speaker 2: brought a deck of cards, okay, just the case. First
- 39:16Speaker 2: of all, so a lot of magicians actually use trip decks.
- 39:18Speaker 2: This is a regular deck. I mean I could lie
- 39:21Speaker 2: to you and tell you it's a regular deck. It
- 39:22Speaker 2: could be a trippic, but it is a regular deck.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Before I take out the cards, can you name out
- 39:26Speaker 2: loud any playing card? Name out loud, any playing card,
- 39:28Speaker 2: fifty two cards, two jokers, name a playing card, Queen
- 39:31Speaker 2: of hearts. If I was really a mentalist mind reader,
- 39:33Speaker 2: I'd have the deck in front of you, then reach
- 39:35Speaker 2: into my pocket and pull that card out of my pockets.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Tell your listeners what car and I just pulled out
- 39:41Speaker 2: my pocket. Party said, now, But but that's not the trick,
- 39:46Speaker 2: because you have a number in your mind, and I'm
- 39:49Speaker 2: gonna show the camera here and you can tell your
- 39:51Speaker 2: listeners all the cards are different. Right, Yeah, it's a
- 39:53Speaker 2: regular deck. You have a number in your own mind
- 39:58Speaker 2: associated with your first dog. Right. I want you to
- 40:01Speaker 2: do me a favor, and we need to. I'll give
- 40:03Speaker 2: you one finger and touch a card. Take it out,
- 40:08Speaker 2: don't look at it before you reveal it and share
- 40:10Speaker 2: the cameras. What what's the number in your mind? Just
- 40:13Speaker 2: the number? I should say it? Yeah, seven seven? Tell
- 40:16Speaker 2: everyone what cards you just take? Say it out loud, Jesus,
- 40:19Speaker 2: say it out loud. Show the camera seven of spades. Okay, Jesus,
- 40:24Speaker 2: that's a club. But that's okay, but take it asn't matter.
- 40:28Speaker 2: The number was seven in your mind, and he took
- 40:30Speaker 2: a seven. So you see there's a connection there, right,
- 40:31Speaker 2: seven club clubs, clubs. It doesn't matter. So you took
- 40:35Speaker 2: us out when you thought it was something. There's it's connection,
- 40:37Speaker 2: it's magic. Whatever. Now do me a favorite. Think about
- 40:40Speaker 2: the first letter of the dog's name in your mind.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Don't say it, don't say but thinking. Okay, okay, Now
- 40:44Speaker 2: think about the last letter of the dog's name. Don't
- 40:46Speaker 2: say think it so you're focused when you have the
- 40:48Speaker 2: letter in your mind. So you're focused on a letter,
- 40:51Speaker 2: it's your parents dog. If it's really about connection, and
- 40:54Speaker 2: it is, I will see the last letter your parents
- 40:57Speaker 2: is dog's name. And this was years ago, before you
- 41:00Speaker 2: were born. I can't remember if.
- 41:02Speaker 3: I was young and then they gave it away, or
- 41:05Speaker 3: if I'm.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Gonna say, if it's about connection, The last letter of
- 41:08Speaker 2: the dog's name is also the last letter of your
- 41:10Speaker 2: first name. Yes or no? N?
- 41:12Speaker 1: Is it ND?
- 41:13Speaker 2: Yes? Or now?
- 41:14Speaker 1: Yes? N?
- 41:14Speaker 2: Okay? N? Right? Was this a golden retriever? Yes or now?
- 41:20Speaker 3: Yes?
- 41:22Speaker 2: Could have been a labrador mentalist? All right? Who named
- 41:25Speaker 2: the dog? Your mom be daddy? I don't, I don't
- 41:27Speaker 2: get it up. Okay, just think of the name m
- 41:29Speaker 2: And do you know what city or town was the name?
- 41:31Speaker 2: New York? Nattan, I think they have, Yeah, they have
- 41:35Speaker 2: the dog in the countin And then okay, there's a
- 41:38Speaker 2: name coming through and getting a vision. I'm gonna shove
- 41:40Speaker 2: the camera for aid it up and show the camera.
- 41:42Speaker 2: I wrote down a name on that path that now
- 41:43Speaker 2: is in your hand again, right, you know, into the microphone.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Don't look what I wrote very loud? What was the
- 41:48Speaker 2: name of your parents dog, golden retriever, New York? What
- 41:51Speaker 2: was the name? Into the micro what was the name Bergen?
- 41:53Speaker 2: Which is so crazy? Can you tell what I wrote?
- 41:56Speaker 2: Say loud? It can tell you When I wrote, Jesus,
- 42:00Speaker 2: it's nice over one rope burbon, yes, because of my
- 42:02Speaker 2: mental life and she got foody. But gist again and
- 42:05Speaker 2: can you please welcome to your apartment a little golden retriever.
- 42:10Speaker 3: You do have golden right, I do have goolden retriever,
- 42:12Speaker 3: but not because the parts have one.
- 42:13Speaker 2: My gold Retriever's name is Summer Happy Vibes. Oh cool
- 42:16Speaker 2: and no, it's so cute. That's nuts. How the hell
- 42:19Speaker 2: do you do that? Oh? You guys just got foody
- 42:22Speaker 2: the gist. I'm good at my job. That's that's my
- 42:25Speaker 2: tagline after I do a cherry go, You just got
- 42:27Speaker 2: foodie the gist. You gotta come up with something, you know.
- 42:29Speaker 2: What are some of your other signature tricks? Well, that's
- 42:33Speaker 2: the restauruncture is my signature, or there are different tricks
- 42:35Speaker 2: that you do on different groups of people. How do
- 42:38Speaker 2: you pick? It doesn't matter the group. It's all the
- 42:40Speaker 2: same shit, you know. So this morning I had a
- 42:43Speaker 2: vision of a knee that came to my mind. It
- 42:47Speaker 2: was a brain name. I don't know the name. I
- 42:49Speaker 2: don't know that as a person, I guess, but it
- 42:51Speaker 2: was such a strong vision. I was like a half
- 42:52Speaker 2: to write this down. So I took on my wallet,
- 42:54Speaker 2: I took out a business card, and I wrote down
- 42:57Speaker 2: a knee on the back of a car to put
- 42:59Speaker 2: in my wallet. Go into the contacts of your phone.
- 43:02Speaker 2: By the way, I very sensitive, Megan and Mike. Why
- 43:04Speaker 2: if what happens happens the person that you just chose? Right? Yeah,
- 43:09Speaker 2: at random? Do you? I don't know half the people
- 43:11Speaker 2: my thought. I feel like where I need them stuff?
- 43:12Speaker 2: Do you know this person? Yes?
- 43:13Speaker 3: Or no?
- 43:14Speaker 2: Yes? Okay? Wh when's the last time you saw this person?
- 43:18Speaker 2: June of twenty twenty four? You twenty Ooh, it's very precise, friend, relative,
- 43:23Speaker 2: school work. How do you know this person? Friend of friend,
- 43:28Speaker 2: friend of friend.
- 43:29Speaker 3: We're friendly. We're not besties, but we're friendly.
- 43:32Speaker 2: We live in New York, atlas and where else? She
- 43:35Speaker 2: you said? She it's a female. You just hour down
- 43:37Speaker 2: to three million names. Thank you? She was. She lives
- 43:41Speaker 2: between London and Madrid. I believe. Okay, that's random, random, random.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Remember the wallet I put just so the listeners know.
- 43:49Speaker 2: There's a wall on the table in your in your room,
- 43:51Speaker 2: in your studio here right, No one touched the wall.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Correct in my wall. It's a business card. Come on
- 43:57Speaker 2: this morning, I wrote down it. You could have chose anyone.
- 43:59Speaker 2: I'm just gonna sho the camera list. Do you see
- 44:00Speaker 2: the name I wrote? I wrote this this morning. I'm
- 44:03Speaker 2: very sensitive. I will cry in front of you. What
- 44:06Speaker 2: is this person's first and last name?
- 44:10Speaker 1: Very loud?
- 44:10Speaker 2: Who are you thinking about? Twenty twenty four London, Madrid.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Who are you thinking about? Very loud? Greta Anderson. Let's
- 44:17Speaker 2: turn around the part. That's what I wrote. Stop, I
- 44:19Speaker 2: wrote credit, come on in. Oh my gosh, Gretta, Hi,
- 44:24Speaker 2: it's been a minute. Whoa you just got footy madam?
- 44:29Speaker 2: That's crazy. What does your business cards say?
- 44:32Speaker 1: You go out often enough at the foody Magician will
- 44:35Speaker 1: materialize at the edge of your table.
- 44:37Speaker 2: The New York Times. That's a truth. That's a true
- 44:41Speaker 2: quote from that New York Times article that came out,
- 44:43Speaker 2: and that is true because I'm literally at restaurants every
- 44:46Speaker 2: day and night. Usually my show goes for an hour,
- 44:49Speaker 2: but if it's a good audience, like the show you saw,
- 44:51Speaker 2: I think I did the hour and a half to
- 44:52Speaker 2: almost almost did two hours for the show you saw.
- 44:56Speaker 2: But let's bring it back to like connection and restaurants, yes,
- 45:01Speaker 2: which which is basically what my life's about, connecting people
- 45:04Speaker 2: and being connected to the world and in everybody and
- 45:07Speaker 2: eating at restaurants all day. Because earlier you thought about
- 45:10Speaker 2: a restaurant called Finelli Cafe right on my phone, on
- 45:15Speaker 2: my notes, I have a list of one hundred restaurants.
- 45:18Speaker 2: It's not a ranking, it's just a list, and each
- 45:22Speaker 2: number is a different restaurant. Finelle Cafe might be on
- 45:27Speaker 2: the list. But can you name allowed? Any number? Allowed?
- 45:30Speaker 2: Any number? Fifty seven? Look, look, look, and you're gonna
- 45:34Speaker 2: be the eyes and the ears for everyone, because well
- 45:38Speaker 2: the people watching can see what's going on. But if
- 45:41Speaker 2: I go to my notes on my phone, take take
- 45:44Speaker 2: the phone from me, actually and take the phone. Look,
- 45:47Speaker 2: it's it's a hunt. Look at all. There's a hundred
- 45:48Speaker 2: different restaurants on that list. Correct, they're all different, right
- 45:52Speaker 2: forre okay, but you went with fifty seven. But if
- 45:55Speaker 2: you went with number named twenty three, with the restaurants
- 45:58Speaker 2: are twenty three, twenty three, the Croda, the Aucreda, it's
- 46:02Speaker 2: a great Attalian restaurant. You're actually where we aready now
- 46:04Speaker 2: fanous for their casciero pepe. What's the restaurant at number one?
- 46:08Speaker 2: Daniel danielle fancy French up on a PRIs said, what's
- 46:13Speaker 2: that sixty nine? Great number? What's that sixty nine? You
- 46:16Speaker 2: didn't square a Cafe Cafe at Nineteenth Street and Park
- 46:19Speaker 2: of their classic American Danny Meyer been around for years.
- 46:22Speaker 2: What's that ninety nine? Abucobuko I love Abuca Rustick Italian
- 46:28Speaker 2: on Bond Street, next to a great Thai restaurant called
- 46:31Speaker 2: Fish Cheeks Tie. Pick a random number, not the one
- 46:33Speaker 2: you said, did there another random number? Sixteen?
- 46:36Speaker 1: What's that?
- 46:36Speaker 2: Sixteen? Carbon carbo spicy Rigatoni, sister to Terresi, one of
- 46:42Speaker 2: my favorites. They're all different, that's the key. And you
- 46:45Speaker 2: could have got with any of those numbers. They're all different,
- 46:47Speaker 2: but you focus on the number for some reason. What
- 46:49Speaker 2: was the number fifty seven? And you thought of a
- 46:51Speaker 2: restaur call Finelli Cafe for the first time. Megan Clyde confidential.
- 46:57Speaker 2: What restaurant is at fifty seven? Them Maxie's Noodle. You
- 47:01Speaker 2: picked Maxie's Noodle. Not have you ever heard of Maxi's Noodle.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Maxie's Noodle is a great little uh dumpling wanton shot
- 47:12Speaker 2: originally from Flushing, now open a Monstreet in Chinatown. But
- 47:17Speaker 2: I knew this morning that you could go with Maxi's Noodle,
- 47:20Speaker 2: and you could have picked anybody knew you'd picked Naxi
- 47:22Speaker 2: noodle And that's why I've been wearing this shirt all
- 47:26Speaker 2: day long. Stuck Maxy's noodlestant you chose because we're talking
- 47:32Speaker 2: at and you just got footy. Everyone listening Maxi's Noodle shirt.
- 47:40Speaker 2: That's insane. Great. By the way, their frieds are delish.
- 47:44Speaker 2: That's crazy. You just got food. How about hell?
- 47:48Speaker 3: Because we're connected, did you go to Maxi's Noodle and
- 47:51Speaker 3: get the shirt this morning?
- 47:52Speaker 2: Not this morning. I happened to be worried and because
- 47:54Speaker 2: I knew you were gonna pick it, and you're gonna
- 47:57Speaker 2: choose backs noodle. But it's very good if you like it.
- 48:00Speaker 2: If you like wantons and in wantan noodle soups, that's
- 48:03Speaker 2: very good. Chinatown's had a lot of great restaurants. No,
- 48:06Speaker 2: I'm such a creature of habit I need to because
- 48:09Speaker 2: you're gonna mix it up, can't be. I sent it
- 48:11Speaker 2: every day. There's a restaurant like called Tasty Handpul noodlesm Well,
- 48:14Speaker 2: actually they had more than one, but the original is
- 48:16Speaker 2: on Doyer Street, in the corner of Doyer's and Bowery.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Great Handpul Noodles that's on the same street as Chiny
- 48:21Speaker 2: six Sido which is a little more modern and damn
- 48:26Speaker 2: I like a restaurant chimes are called New Malaysia Restaurant.
- 48:29Speaker 2: You're like, what was less than made Malayian food? Ever? Right?
- 48:32Speaker 2: They have the best beef Satay and my be in
- 48:34Speaker 2: New York. My New Malaysia. I think it's the best
- 48:36Speaker 2: beef Satay in New York and I'm sticking to that.
- 48:40Speaker 2: One of my favorite restaurants in New York that no
- 48:41Speaker 2: one talks about really is called No Rita. It's home
- 48:44Speaker 2: Hawaiian restaurants. Have you ever had a wine food in
- 48:46Speaker 2: New York? I know R E. E. T H on
- 48:49Speaker 2: First Avenue between Saint Mark's and Seventh Street. It's just
- 48:52Speaker 2: super casual. If you're like wine, they're actually big into
- 48:55Speaker 2: wine there. But it's just I love I just love
- 48:58Speaker 2: everything there, from Basu the to their Maiden House potstickers
- 49:03Speaker 2: to their pasta dishes. Hawaiian food New York City and
- 49:07Speaker 2: Eureka unbelievable. That's one of my favorites. I need that
- 49:11Speaker 2: list that's in your phone. It's not that it's just
- 49:14Speaker 2: that's not it's just a random list that there's restaurants
- 49:16Speaker 2: on there. Recommend Now you need a restaurant, you ask
- 49:20Speaker 2: me okay, or if you're listening to this, just DM
- 49:22Speaker 2: me okay. So Josh, what are What is something that
- 49:27Speaker 2: people don't know about you?
- 49:29Speaker 3: People know that you love food.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Do you love to make people last?
- 49:33Speaker 1: You love to do these insane bits. I mean, I'm
- 49:37Speaker 1: gonna be shook for the next twelve hours. But what
- 49:41Speaker 1: what is something that maybe the audience might not know
- 49:44Speaker 1: about you?
- 49:45Speaker 2: That's a great question. When I get to ask that
- 49:47Speaker 2: on dating apps, I'm always put I like to freestyle
- 49:50Speaker 2: a rap when I get high. That's what I always put.
- 49:52Speaker 2: But I haven't done that in a while. I'm on
- 49:55Speaker 2: high front. I can't do that. You really do be
- 49:59Speaker 2: German show? Do you know how fun that would be?
- 50:02Speaker 2: But I don't know if it's actually a good freestyle,
- 50:04Speaker 2: But I do. I used to. I remember attempting freestyle wraps.
- 50:07Speaker 2: What else you ask the question again? Whales where people
- 50:10Speaker 2: know where people don't know about it? That's something that
- 50:12Speaker 2: people don't know about you. I only do four things
- 50:15Speaker 2: in life, and I think people, if you follow me
- 50:16Speaker 2: on Instagram, you know what I do. I get a
- 50:18Speaker 2: restaurants all day, I do shows around the country in
- 50:20Speaker 2: the world. I walk ten miles a day. I like
- 50:26Speaker 2: to walk ten miles a day. That's the thing about
- 50:27Speaker 2: me that I mean. If you don't follow me instgram
- 50:30Speaker 2: right then you wouldn't know that because I always at
- 50:32Speaker 2: the end of the day I put I fuck with steps.
- 50:34Speaker 2: After I put through like ten miles and twenty five
- 50:36Speaker 2: thousand steps, it was above fifty degrees. I like to
- 50:38Speaker 2: walk over. I mean I walk all over. I like
- 50:40Speaker 2: to I walk from restaurant to restaurant. That's how I
- 50:42Speaker 2: get my exercise, it really, and I like to try.
- 50:46Speaker 2: I love to travel. I love traveling. I can find
- 50:49Speaker 2: magic in any city in the world. And actually a
- 50:53Speaker 2: great way to discover our city is by walking in.
- 50:56Speaker 2: I like where you more. I like finding hidden gems
- 50:58Speaker 2: and what not. But I do I love traveling. That
- 51:03Speaker 2: actually my drink. If if I didn't have to, you know,
- 51:06Speaker 2: do shows for and pay the rent, I would just
- 51:08Speaker 2: travel the world and explore different cultures and cities and
- 51:11Speaker 2: foods all over the World's I mean, that's why I
- 51:14Speaker 2: mean that, That's basically what I do. But I'd like
- 51:18Speaker 2: to do it without having to think about, Oh, I
- 51:19Speaker 2: have to do a show and you know, pay the bills.
- 51:21Speaker 1: But I do.
- 51:22Speaker 2: I love I love exploring What's next entered list. There's
- 51:25Speaker 2: a place in Mexico. I think I want to try
- 51:27Speaker 2: it called Whole Box hold bosh h o l b
- 51:30Speaker 2: o X. I think I might go there. Actually, one
- 51:33Speaker 2: of my favorite cities in the world is Mexico City.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Have you been in Mexico City.
- 51:36Speaker 3: I'm going for a wedding the January again.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Well, if plus one, hi, I don't think I'm getting
- 51:47Speaker 2: a plus one, sadly, but imagine I just shut up.
- 51:49Speaker 2: And if you're like, why is the food musician at
- 51:50Speaker 2: the right life? She couldn't care for some champegne If
- 51:54Speaker 2: you're listening, maybe she wants a little entertainment, honestly, But
- 51:58Speaker 2: have you been to Mexico City?
- 51:59Speaker 1: Happen?
- 51:59Speaker 2: I'm it's a great city. Food seems amazing, It's amazing,
- 52:02Speaker 2: food scenes cheap, it's great weather. I love next. I mean,
- 52:06Speaker 2: I love a lot of places I'm next to. The
- 52:07Speaker 2: city is fabulous world. I want to I would go.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I want to go to the Malfy Coast.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Me too.
- 52:14Speaker 2: I traveled solo a lot, so I need to I
- 52:16Speaker 2: need to bring someone. You know, someone who's into podcasts.
- 52:22Speaker 2: You're funny have you been. I have not. I've been
- 52:26Speaker 2: saving it for boyfriend. Wow, it could be it. I
- 52:30Speaker 2: almost I used to be expensive podcast for me, not
- 52:33Speaker 2: the coast. And I've been to Italy, which is such
- 52:35Speaker 2: a weird thing about me. I forget for most people
- 52:39Speaker 2: who know me.
- 52:40Speaker 1: It's a crazy stat But I've been saving it for
- 52:42Speaker 1: a boyfriend trip because Italy.
- 52:44Speaker 2: I don't want to go to Italy with myself.
- 52:46Speaker 1: I have some of my girlfriends whips to those student
- 52:48Speaker 1: girls from Italy, and like that sounds terrible.
- 52:50Speaker 2: I'd rather go with a boyfriend. Italy is great.
- 52:53Speaker 1: I know that you've studied magic for a long time,
- 52:55Speaker 1: and I also think that you were probably born with
- 52:57Speaker 1: some superpower. I just believe that because what you do
- 53:00Speaker 1: is insane and I don't even if I studied magic
- 53:03Speaker 1: like you did.
- 53:03Speaker 2: There's no way in hell I'd be able to do that.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I think you have powers.
- 53:07Speaker 1: But what advice would you give to someone who wants
- 53:10Speaker 1: to grow up and be like you, or be a performer,
- 53:13Speaker 1: or be an addition and be on the Tonight Show.
- 53:17Speaker 2: All your dreams have come true so far? Well, that's
- 53:19Speaker 2: a great question, But you got to follow your dreams
- 53:20Speaker 2: to just do it. You can't. You can manifest anything,
- 53:24Speaker 2: but you can't manifest anything by just staying home. You
- 53:27Speaker 2: have to get out there, put yourself out there the
- 53:30Speaker 2: way I I really, you know, I used to. I
- 53:33Speaker 2: used to do a lot of shows for free. I
- 53:35Speaker 2: used to do go to charity events and you have tot.
- 53:37Speaker 2: I would network with event planners. I mean, if you
- 53:40Speaker 2: want to be a magician, you got net be the
- 53:41Speaker 2: people in charge of the events, you know. So that's
- 53:43Speaker 2: how I got h I do. I used to do
- 53:46Speaker 2: a lot of stuff for zero, and then when someone
- 53:48Speaker 2: would see an event that was doing zero, then they
- 53:50Speaker 2: pay me. You know. But you really got to stay
- 53:52Speaker 2: number one though. The key is to life is staying positive.
- 53:55Speaker 2: You got to stay positive. I mean I used to
- 53:58Speaker 2: think you got to take the high with the lows,
- 54:01Speaker 2: but now I see everything as a high, including the lows.
- 54:04Speaker 2: I don't actually have lows. I see everything. Everything pushes
- 54:07Speaker 2: you on your path. It's all meant to be. But
- 54:08Speaker 2: that's from coming stepping from a place of positivity. So
- 54:13Speaker 2: if you look at everything as a positive, everything is
- 54:16Speaker 2: all meant to be, then life is great and you
- 54:19Speaker 2: would achieve anything you want to as long as you
- 54:21Speaker 2: put your mind to it, and you got to get
- 54:22Speaker 2: out there. Now that might not happen overnight, like good
- 54:26Speaker 2: Down on the Tonight Show took at least ten years,
- 54:28Speaker 2: if not more. But sometimes things happen quicker. But you
- 54:32Speaker 2: got to believe and you got to just do it.
- 54:34Speaker 2: You know as Nike that Nike says, just do it. Well,
- 54:39Speaker 2: that's great advice.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I think you and I are similar because I don't
- 54:43Speaker 1: really have a lot of low moments either, And I
- 54:45Speaker 1: think staying positive does help you manifest in everything work, personal,
- 54:51Speaker 1: having the right attitude, networking, meeting people, going out in
- 54:54Speaker 1: the world, going to sente, sitting there.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Nothing happens on your couch except for podcasts. But I
- 55:00Speaker 2: couldn't agree more. And you learn if you learn, you
- 55:02Speaker 2: learned from every every You learned from a lot to
- 55:06Speaker 2: the foul, the fouls and the winds. It's all learnings, right,
- 55:09Speaker 2: you know.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Yeah, have there been any fails that have kicked you
- 55:14Speaker 3: down only for you to get up? Or like, have
- 55:16Speaker 3: you got any challenges in your career?
- 55:18Speaker 2: I mean the answer is yes, but I'm saying, like
- 55:20Speaker 2: I used to have a day job and then what
- 55:23Speaker 2: was her today job? No, because living in New York.
- 55:25Speaker 2: You know, you got to get the right so I didn't.
- 55:27Speaker 2: I was living on Long Island, and then I moved
- 55:29Speaker 2: to New York City in two thousand and three. You know,
- 55:31Speaker 2: you can't move to New York and you start playing
- 55:33Speaker 2: right unless you have really rich parents. But so I
- 55:37Speaker 2: had a business degree or have a business degree from
- 55:39Speaker 2: Bucknell University. So I would work during the day in
- 55:43Speaker 2: the financial industry, like not like trading or analyzing stocks.
- 55:46Speaker 2: I would get people lunches to do more administrative stuff.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Then I would party and entertain every night and the weekend.
- 55:52Speaker 2: That's how I built up my network rarely. Then in
- 55:55Speaker 2: two thousand and eight, two thousand and eight was my
- 56:00Speaker 2: last time I had day jobs. In two thousand three
- 56:02Speaker 2: two thousand and eight, five years, I had a day
- 56:04Speaker 2: job that we had a little mutual termination for my
- 56:07Speaker 2: last day job, so like if you get fired or
- 56:10Speaker 2: have to leave your job, like I didn't want to
- 56:12Speaker 2: be there anyways, but that was a moment that pushed
- 56:15Speaker 2: me on a path. It was one of the best
- 56:16Speaker 2: things I ever had. It getting terminating it from my
- 56:19Speaker 2: administrative position was one of the best things that ever happened.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Because I haven't had a day job since just pushed
- 56:23Speaker 2: me in my path to grow and be a full
- 56:26Speaker 2: time magician, mentalist, medium. Hell yeah, everything, it's all meant
- 56:30Speaker 2: to be. Got to stay positive, keep smiling, keep laughing,
- 56:35Speaker 2: any grace food that's right. My own. As my closing act,
- 56:40Speaker 2: I like to bring phone call people. Do you want
- 56:42Speaker 2: to prank someone that's wild? We can call Sarah and
- 56:47Speaker 2: you could say, hey, it's it's Josh.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Megane invited me to Saint Barts for New Year's.
- 56:53Speaker 2: I'm organizing the villa.
- 56:55Speaker 3: I'm going to bring some of my friends too, but
- 56:57Speaker 3: we have to make it like weird so she gets uncomfortable.
- 57:00Speaker 2: No, oh, do you mind if I bring a bunch
- 57:01Speaker 2: of strippers? This is good? We call Sara? Is this
- 57:07Speaker 2: the girl is our? Is ours?
- 57:08Speaker 1: Our?
- 57:09Speaker 2: Yeah? Sarah?
- 57:11Speaker 1: And then I think, I think this is what you say? Hey,
- 57:13Speaker 1: is Josh and himself thinking about you that night at
- 57:17Speaker 1: SVV that we met during my show, And I think
- 57:20Speaker 1: that we really have a strong connection.
- 57:22Speaker 2: I think I might be in love with you. Orders
- 57:24Speaker 2: Orders said, I want to do this strip work a
- 57:26Speaker 2: woman in half. I need you to be a part.
- 57:30Speaker 2: I'm trying to do a bit where I caught a
- 57:32Speaker 2: woman in half. I mean your body is amazing. Yeah,
- 57:39Speaker 2: hell Sarah, it's Josh Beckerman, the foodie magician.
- 57:43Speaker 1: How are you.
- 57:45Speaker 2: Remember you? Would? I think you were in my audience
- 57:47Speaker 2: right like an l I yeh. So here's what I've
- 57:52Speaker 2: been thinking about, you know, because I'm doing this new
- 57:54Speaker 2: bit like in my magic show where you know, like
- 57:56Speaker 2: the cup you're cut the woman in half at the trick.
- 58:01Speaker 2: You didn't do it when I was there, but no, no,
- 58:03Speaker 2: I know I'm because I'm working on it, and I
- 58:05Speaker 2: remember me. I remember you got like you had to
- 58:06Speaker 2: fight a fucking amazing body, and I was like, holy shit,
- 58:10Speaker 2: you would be me. So I wanted to know if
- 58:13Speaker 2: you're Are you in New York or La.
- 58:16Speaker 1: La?
- 58:16Speaker 2: Okay, because I'm in the in LA next week. I
- 58:18Speaker 2: wanted to do some rehearsals with you. And you're cranking.
- 58:23Speaker 2: I know what you're doing. You're talking about ranking you
- 58:29Speaker 2: come out, so right now?
- 58:34Speaker 1: Is that great? What is she?
- 58:35Speaker 2: A mentalist? Anyways? Just got floating image that was you
- 58:39Speaker 2: don't want to be a part of my new trick
- 58:41Speaker 2: where I cut you and half your body is so amazing.
- 58:43Speaker 2: I'm the mentalist now, you know, it turns me on
- 58:46Speaker 2: people that get back with their exes. How do you
- 58:49Speaker 2: know everything about mentalist? Baby? Come on? So you don't
- 58:53Speaker 2: want to be cut, you don't want to be a
- 58:54Speaker 2: part of my new show, my new trick. I know
- 58:58Speaker 2: you should use Megan's dog Summer And there's how are
- 59:03Speaker 2: you Sarah? Oh, Alexander just said call again? Question mark?
- 59:06Speaker 2: Oh really, we're gonna try another friend, Okay, I love
- 59:09Speaker 2: you so much. Hello wait Alexandra. Yeah, hey, it's Josh Beckerman,
- 59:18Speaker 2: the foodie magician. How are you? Hi? I'm good. Are you?
- 59:22Speaker 2: I'm amazing? I think I met you at San Vicente? Right,
- 59:25Speaker 2: that's great? Oh, sorry, random question I'm doing. I'm working
- 59:28Speaker 2: on a new magic trick. You know that trick where
- 59:30Speaker 2: you cut some one and a half? Did you see
- 59:33Speaker 2: that thing?
- 59:35Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 59:36Speaker 2: Well I need someone with like an amazing body. And
- 59:38Speaker 2: I remember when I met you. I was like, wow,
- 59:39Speaker 2: your body is in fuego, so I kind of want to.
- 59:43Speaker 2: I mean, I know you probably hit the gym dootle pilates,
- 59:45Speaker 2: but I was like, I need I need someone great.
