- 0:54Speaker 1: a little sorcerer. We'll just see the crystal ball and like,
- 0:57Speaker 1: you know what this is a touchdown this time? Can
- 1:00Speaker 1: you pick whether the driver and in a field goal
- 1:01Speaker 1: a touchdown or a punt? But you can parlay with
- 1:03Speaker 1: it with passing yards, rush yards, catches in more. It's
- 1:07Speaker 1: like you're in a box as an oc calling that
- 1:09Speaker 1: plays yourself, just as at fandle dot com. Forwards last
- 1:12Speaker 1: bus and to get into the action, it is Monday.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Reaction showed the week of the greatest holiday of all time,
- 1:19Speaker 1: Spook Tober. Round of a plus for Spooktober.
- 1:24Speaker 3: For someone who's super big into Spooksober, I know.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I think we gotta have we gotta have a conversation absolutely,
- 1:30Speaker 4: what's what's what's going on?
- 1:34Speaker 5: Buddy?
- 1:35Speaker 3: Just for reference, here's the back of the bus and
- 1:41Speaker 3: there's the front of the bus.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Listen, we're we're gonna, we're gonna eliminate distractions when it
- 1:45Speaker 1: comes to this show, and when it comes to Spooktober,
- 1:47Speaker 1: I will I'll talk about what's going on on this bus.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I want to first point out that all of you
- 1:51Speaker 1: in the back look fantastic, especially Clump. Clump. Set it back.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Let me see Clump again. Yeah yeah, Clump, keep going,
- 2:01Speaker 1: keep going, keep going, Give us a reflext dude, bring
- 2:05Speaker 1: home to he got you something? Yeah, dog, So listen.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Spooktobra is it is my favorite holiday. And I'm not
- 2:15Speaker 1: gonna make excuses about how it is a Disney rold
- 2:17Speaker 1: that did over forty thousand steps this weekend. I was
- 2:19Speaker 1: a little tired. It's on me. I need to dress up.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I showed up today. The first thing I see is
- 2:24Speaker 1: Shirman and a policeman's outfit. The next thing I see
- 2:26Speaker 1: is Mitch as a stitch, which, by the way, is
- 2:28Speaker 1: my kid's favorite character at this time. Will shows up
- 2:33Speaker 1: twenty minutes after the pre production meeting and he's Rocky
- 2:36Speaker 1: Balboa and so did I shit the bed? Yes? Is
- 2:40Speaker 1: he gonna take away from how great you guys look.
- 2:42Speaker 1: It shouldn't. This is about Spooktober. This is about ghoules, goblins, inspectors,
- 2:46Speaker 1: and I appreciate each and every one of you for
- 2:48Speaker 1: dressing up. I need to be better. I need to
- 2:51Speaker 1: be better for that. I say, I'm sorry.
- 2:53Speaker 4: I think we're The disappointment is every year you're like, hey,
- 2:56Speaker 4: we gotta sell out. It's Spootobratt to lead out. Hey,
- 3:00Speaker 4: hey we got to have the bus dressed up. We
- 3:01Speaker 4: gotta do all like there's like a standard you implement
- 3:04Speaker 4: on everybody that you force on everybody. And just to
- 3:08Speaker 4: see our guy from the front, like weekend one, you
- 3:11Speaker 4: don't hit a spook and you don't You're not even
- 3:14Speaker 4: taking this conversation seriously, like I don't know what's happening
- 3:16Speaker 4: on the phone that's more important than a spook Tobra
- 3:18Speaker 4: conversation with our guy, our leader. And then we get
- 3:21Speaker 4: into the week of Halloween and you're the one guy
- 3:23Speaker 4: that's not in a costume.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I was looking at my phone because I thought
- 3:27Speaker 1: I addressed it, and you were still want to go
- 3:30Speaker 1: in it, which is great. Here's what I think, guys.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I think I've already said that I shit the bed
- 3:35Speaker 1: I did. When it comes to Spooktober, I do like
- 3:38Speaker 1: to carry the flypole. I do like to say, hey,
- 3:40Speaker 1: we should have standards and expectations. And it's a bad
- 3:42Speaker 1: look when the leader says, hey, we need to have
- 3:45Speaker 1: these standards and expectations and it doesn't work out he
- 3:48Speaker 1: doesn't follow suit with what he should be doing. I
- 3:51Speaker 1: gotta stop looking at sirm. He's kind of freaking me
- 3:53Speaker 1: out with the helmet and I don't know if he's
- 3:54Speaker 1: looking at me or looking at somebody else, but yes,
- 3:58Speaker 1: I fucked up. I should have been dressed up. I
- 4:02Speaker 1: wasn't just up. And you know what, to make matters worse,
- 4:04Speaker 1: it didn't even cross my mind this morning. It didn't
- 4:07Speaker 1: even cross my mind to get this done. That's the problem.
- 4:10Speaker 1: You're absolutely right. And so if you guys want to
- 4:13Speaker 1: spend the show for me figuring out how many ways
- 4:16Speaker 1: they can say, sorry, I can do that. But I
- 4:18Speaker 1: I am just letting you know. I shit the bed,
- 4:22Speaker 1: and it's it's I let you down.
- 4:23Speaker 3: I let you down.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And you know what's gonna happen come September next year.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna do I'm gonna say, guy, we gotta make
- 4:29Speaker 1: this the best Spooketober. We gotta do this, we gotta
- 4:31Speaker 1: do that, and it'll be a great time for you
- 4:34Speaker 1: guys to hold me accountable and be like, hey, you
- 4:36Speaker 1: want to be the guy. This is the guy we
- 4:38Speaker 1: saw in twenty twenty five. What's the guy you're gonna
- 4:40Speaker 1: be in twenty twenty six. And that's once again, from
- 4:43Speaker 1: the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry. This this is
- 4:47Speaker 1: mere Monday. Yeah, this Spootober for me, from just a
- 4:50Speaker 1: tailor little one perspective has been very underwhelming. I will say, however,
- 4:55Speaker 1: from a from Taylor to one the dad, this has
- 4:58Speaker 1: been the best Spooktober of my entire life. We have
- 5:00Speaker 1: done so many The kids are fully bought in. We've
- 5:02Speaker 1: done so many things with the kids, and I'm very
- 5:04Speaker 1: proud of that. But you can't have one with that
- 5:07Speaker 1: the other. You can't have a good run game but
- 5:08Speaker 1: no pass game. All right, you got to put them
- 5:10Speaker 1: both together. And I can promise that to you guys
- 5:13Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six.
- 5:14Speaker 3: That just means on Thursday for our stream, when we
- 5:17Speaker 3: all dress up, you need to you need to win
- 5:20Speaker 3: all out.
- 5:20Speaker 6: If you don't win the costume content all out on Thursday,
- 5:24Speaker 6: there's gonna be some real, real chatter around the costumed
- 5:27Speaker 6: you know what.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'm excited that you guys are giving me an opportunity
- 5:32Speaker 1: to make this right. So thank you. Yes, I get
- 5:35Speaker 1: the spirit. I got myself a nice little you know what.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah, Thursday, We'll see Thursday.
- 5:42Speaker 1: See Thursday. I'll see you boys Thursday for the stream,
- 5:45Speaker 1: for the stream, but it is the weekend recapted.
- 5:46Speaker 2: We want to get some football, Yeah, Brian Kelly got fired.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I think, yeah, we talked about it with Payton before
- 5:58Speaker 1: and he's like, if this game does and go the
- 6:00Speaker 1: way they want, I don't think that happens, but I
- 6:02Speaker 1: think a conversation takes place with this coordinators, with the
- 6:04Speaker 1: staff that's also going on. Then it's essentially on, Brian Kelly,
- 6:07Speaker 1: are you going to fire these guys that you need
- 6:09Speaker 1: to fire? But after that ass beating that an M
- 6:12Speaker 1: put on and it was close, I mean LSU was
- 6:16Speaker 1: up for a minute, it was close in the first half,
- 6:18Speaker 1: and it's just it's snowballed to where LSU the fan
- 6:22Speaker 1: base is channing fire Kelly. And I think you walk
- 6:25Speaker 1: out of that stadium, Tiger Stadium, and I think the
- 6:28Speaker 1: administration knew right then and there this can't be our
- 6:30Speaker 1: guy anymore if we want to keep this fan base intact.
- 6:33Speaker 7: Is there a scarier stadium to have to leave after
- 6:35Speaker 7: you're on the hot seat?
- 6:37Speaker 1: No, Yeah, Louisiana is essentially always in Spootober like that
- 6:40Speaker 1: is a it's a crazy everyone's asleep dude. Yeah, Sherman,
- 6:46Speaker 1: you're talking about there's a clip. There's a clip of
- 6:49Speaker 1: Brian Kelly that somebody hiding the bushes while he was
- 6:52Speaker 1: leaving the stadium or leaving the uh the facility, and
- 6:57Speaker 1: he's like talking to people and all that, and he
- 6:59Speaker 1: like books it out of there. I have not seen
- 7:01Speaker 1: this clip yet.
- 7:03Speaker 7: Oh yeah yeah, and uh, I saw that Harrold Perkins
- 7:06Speaker 7: their best linebacker is basically it was like, I'm not
- 7:10Speaker 7: playing the rest of the season.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Now, hold on. I saw that two, but I thought
- 7:12Speaker 1: that was No. Three. Now I think that was No.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Three.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I looked it up last night and I didn't see
- 7:20Speaker 1: anything because I went I went to retweet it or
- 7:24Speaker 1: quote tweet it and be like this guy we a
- 7:26Speaker 1: Mazon blue, we need this guy, of course. And then
- 7:29Speaker 1: I checked one more time and it said No. Three. Yeah,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I think he got No. Three three and.
- 7:36Speaker 7: Actually does this is dude, is way too good.
- 7:39Speaker 1: This is BK leaving the building right now. Also, okay,
- 7:42Speaker 1: is he parked in a handicap spot? Take a one
- 7:48Speaker 1: last look at it.
- 7:49Speaker 8: He's allegedly halfway parked in his reserve spot and halfway
- 7:53Speaker 8: parked in a handicap spot.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Well that's all allegedly, We're not going to kick a
- 7:58Speaker 1: man while he's down. Does the door open? It does
- 8:04Speaker 1: he's pointing at somebody. I mean, that's a fifty three
- 8:07Speaker 1: million dollar man walking around right there.
- 8:08Speaker 4: That's a fifty three Yeah that biots.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I think it's close to two hundred million dollars in
- 8:16Speaker 1: buiots so far, three fires totality.
- 8:20Speaker 4: So yeah, that's that's the video saw Josh Pai going
- 8:24Speaker 4: off about him. I saw the clip of Josh Paate
- 8:27Speaker 4: going off about him on the show, and I think
- 8:30Speaker 4: what I'm appreciating is seeing the fan base, like there's
- 8:33Speaker 4: been other figureheads as well talking about it. Is just
- 8:36Speaker 4: talking about the optics coach Kelly. They're allegedly saying that
- 8:40Speaker 4: he was doing knowing he's going to be on camera
- 8:42Speaker 4: a lot, and kind of going off on all of
- 8:43Speaker 4: his coaches, like every time that there was an opportunity,
- 8:46Speaker 4: like if a bad play happened, he's like, what the
- 8:48Speaker 4: fuck are we doing? Joe, like always just you know,
- 8:51Speaker 4: in the microphone, like kind of going at his coaches
- 8:54Speaker 4: and thinking it was more of like a like an
- 8:56Speaker 4: optics thing of you know, Kelly kind of removing himself
- 9:01Speaker 4: from the accountability factor.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah that is yeah, yeah, I trying to make it cinematic.
- 9:09Speaker 1: That's not that's something were there you see. I was
- 9:11Speaker 1: not I was not seeing those clips. I'll take your
- 9:14Speaker 1: word for it, though.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Like just every time, every time a moment would happen,
- 9:18Speaker 4: it's like people were doing the you know where they're
- 9:19Speaker 4: they're saying what he's saying, like quoting, like liperating and
- 9:23Speaker 4: everything else. But every time the camera would come on him,
- 9:25Speaker 4: it'd be like he'd pulled down the mic. He'd be like,
- 9:27Speaker 4: what the fuck are you doing here, Joe? You can't
- 9:29Speaker 4: call that, you know with no timeouts. Just yeah, always
- 9:33Speaker 4: like these situations a lot, and they happen, I believe
- 9:36Speaker 4: multiple times.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Is what people were talking about.
- 9:40Speaker 4: And if you go off pate, you know, if there
- 9:43Speaker 4: if there's if there's gonna be a way, like if
- 9:45Speaker 4: there's gonna be a hard decision to be had the
- 9:47Speaker 4: position that coach Kelly would be in, he'd be putting
- 9:49Speaker 4: like an ultimatum like you're gonna have to you're gonna
- 9:52Speaker 4: have to fire guys internally on your staff or coach
- 9:55Speaker 4: coach Kelly is gonna be the guy that falls on
- 9:56Speaker 4: the sword, and optically, like if you're trying to laying the.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Staff, this is the way that you would be reacting.
- 10:02Speaker 1: If the camera is on, right, Yeah, because if Josh
- 10:05Speaker 1: Peyton knows the noise and all the noise surrounding, he's
- 10:08Speaker 1: obviously very aware. And it seemed like just that small
- 10:11Speaker 1: little clip in what you're saying is he is preparing
- 10:13Speaker 1: himself to fire guys in order to save his job.
- 10:17Speaker 1: But the ass beating was so bad that everyone was
- 10:19Speaker 1: just like, you know what we're gonna have to do, right,
- 10:21Speaker 1: take We're gonna take out the trash.
- 10:23Speaker 2: LSU is now the hottest job that's open. Yeah?
- 10:26Speaker 1: Is that?
- 10:27Speaker 2: Is that?
- 10:27Speaker 1: Is that worth thinking? That's over Florida, LSU Florida, Penn State? Yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 1: I mean LSU. The club brought up a really good
- 10:37Speaker 1: point where Florida might be better than LSU if you're
- 10:41Speaker 1: a coach looking for a longer leash. Because at LSU,
- 10:45Speaker 1: so coach O he was a nasal championship one two
- 10:48Speaker 1: years later, he's gone that that fan base knows they
- 10:51Speaker 1: can be national championship contenders every single year, and they
- 10:54Speaker 1: just think, all right, if you're not gonna get it
- 10:56Speaker 1: done in one two years, we gotta find the next guy,
- 10:58Speaker 1: which could be the quickest way to ruin a program
- 11:01Speaker 1: because you want a little more like you need to
- 11:02Speaker 1: see these things kind of develop a little bit. Penn State,
- 11:05Speaker 1: very similar ten and two coach, over and over and
- 11:07Speaker 1: over again, he's gotta go. And so next coach it
- 11:10Speaker 1: comes in the expectation tenant you get ten and two,
- 11:13Speaker 1: there's gonna be a panic setting in there, Florida. You
- 11:16Speaker 1: will win yourself nine to ten games for a few years.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Everyone's like, all right, slowly cooking. So he get back
- 11:21Speaker 1: on the right track. Did I hit that correctly? Clump, Yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I think I.
- 11:23Speaker 9: Think that's perfect.
- 11:24Speaker 6: I think for expectations for sure. The coach, oh things
- 11:27Speaker 6: the best. He won a Natty and I think it
- 11:29Speaker 6: was twenty months later was fired. So and you're also
- 11:31Speaker 6: stepping into a place that did hire Brian Kelly, which
- 11:33Speaker 6: scares me.
- 11:34Speaker 5: So.
- 11:34Speaker 6: Yeah, like the people making those decisions, I wouldn't want
- 11:37Speaker 6: to be part of that, no doubt.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta make sure everything's aligned.
- 11:41Speaker 4: I don't think they would. They would just you know,
- 11:44Speaker 4: ensue just all this expectation.
- 11:46Speaker 2: You will.
- 11:46Speaker 4: There is a standard at LSU. But I think these
- 11:48Speaker 4: years with Brian Kelly fan base is gonna welcome. If
- 11:51Speaker 4: they have the right hire like they're gonna have, They're
- 11:53Speaker 4: gonna have a leash not to be like a losing
- 11:56Speaker 4: you know, losing record multiple years in a row seasons.
- 11:59Speaker 4: But I think that they will have like patients with
- 12:01Speaker 4: this next head coach if it calls for patients and
- 12:04Speaker 4: they're having like nine to three, eight and four win seasons.
- 12:10Speaker 4: But yeah, dude, a lot of jobs opened, a.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Lot of jobs open, more jobs open at this point
- 12:14Speaker 1: I think we've seen in a long time, but also
- 12:16Speaker 1: more head coaches kind of rearing their head earlier in
- 12:20Speaker 1: this season being like, oh, that guy could be a
- 12:21Speaker 1: head coach at a major program. That guy Alex Golish
- 12:24Speaker 1: at USF or UCF which on USF Matt Campbell Ioway
- 12:28Speaker 1: state like, yeah, some are all tou lane coach. You've
- 12:32Speaker 1: all these kind of coaches that are like, hey, we're
- 12:33Speaker 1: ready for the next step, and it just seems like
- 12:36Speaker 1: everything's working out where these big programs are ready for
- 12:38Speaker 1: a guy to take the next step.
- 12:40Speaker 10: Horrible year to be the Virginia techs u clas of
- 12:43Speaker 10: the world.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Yeah that need a coach, not UCLA. I mean, I
- 12:46Speaker 1: know they got their ass bet by Indiana, but I
- 12:49Speaker 1: think they're set.
- 12:51Speaker 4: But not the year that you want your coach to
- 12:53Speaker 4: get fired not a year, which brings us to Baylor Cincinnati.
- 12:58Speaker 4: I was talking with Surean before and he was just
- 13:00Speaker 4: up in arms. He's like, dude, Baylor, I was like,
- 13:03Speaker 4: I feel you, but Cincinnati is a tough team, Like
- 13:05Speaker 4: you kind of knew that that was gonna happen. Sure
- 13:07Speaker 4: if you don't, like, don't do the staring thing. This
- 13:09Speaker 4: is this is real conversation time with Baylor. But yeah,
- 13:12Speaker 4: where do you go if you're Baylor? Because you said
- 13:15Speaker 4: there was an opportunity a couple of years ago to
- 13:19Speaker 4: separate yourself from the head coach.
- 13:21Speaker 8: We could have got rid of a random two years
- 13:23Speaker 8: ago after the Air Force game.
- 13:25Speaker 2: We did not.
- 13:27Speaker 8: We actually extended him, paid him more money, and then
- 13:30Speaker 8: we got more of.
- 13:30Speaker 2: The same thing.
- 13:31Speaker 8: And now we're looking down the barrel of the gun
- 13:34Speaker 8: in a college football environment with now twelve head coaches.
- 13:39Speaker 8: There's twelve openings, and it's like, now, I don't want
- 13:43Speaker 8: a random fired, because what the hell are we gonna do.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Nobody's gonna want a Baylor job in this economy.
- 13:49Speaker 8: In this economy, go down to Waco. God, dude, it
- 13:55Speaker 8: hurts sick of Bears.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Baylor seems like the perfect school to be a casualty
- 14:03Speaker 1: of the NIL era.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Ship enjoy a game.
- 14:07Speaker 8: Yeah, I was about to say there's actually there's a
- 14:09Speaker 8: lot of money at Baylor. I don't think there's a
- 14:11Speaker 8: whole lot of direction of like not only building an
- 14:16Speaker 8: NIL but like going about finding talent.
- 14:21Speaker 2: If that makes sense. I don't know, dude.
- 14:25Speaker 8: I'm just very broken.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I'm very empty. I'm very sad.
- 14:28Speaker 8: And yeah, Baylor's got to write the ship and do
- 14:30Speaker 8: a whole lot of things if they want to find
- 14:32Speaker 8: success in this era of football. I think a lot
- 14:34Speaker 8: of schools could say that, but especially Baylor.
- 14:41Speaker 2: What should we talk about.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Well, we should talk about me almost being a genius
- 14:46Speaker 1: over the weekend, almost shocking the world and hitching my
- 14:51Speaker 1: wagon to the South Carolina game. Cocks so fucking close, dude.
- 14:59Speaker 1: And that is there are two games other than the
- 15:02Speaker 1: Michigan game. While I'm at Disney World and I had
- 15:04Speaker 1: to see I kept the box score up. One was
- 15:07Speaker 1: Michigan Northwestern and the other one was South.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Carolina Michigan Michigan State.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Other than the Michigan game, Nebraska Northwestern. Yeah, I'm sorry,
- 15:18Speaker 1: uh Nebraska Northwestern. I kept watching the box score on that,
- 15:20Speaker 1: and then I did pop on at one point Alabama,
- 15:23Speaker 1: South Carolina. When I'm in Epcot, I think I'm in China,
- 15:26Speaker 1: and I go and look and I'm like, damn, we
- 15:29Speaker 1: we might be it. And JP and I thrown a
- 15:31Speaker 1: couple of texts back and forth. I shoot them a
- 15:32Speaker 1: little text like, hey, you guys can do this. Student
- 15:37Speaker 1: section lines up to go rush the field. Alabama pulls through.
- 15:42Speaker 3: JP.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Let's get your thoughts.
- 15:47Speaker 10: It wasn't fun putting on this costume today. I felt
- 15:51Speaker 10: like the clown thing another, you know, like the clown gift.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but man, it's hard.
- 15:56Speaker 10: It's like we we outplayed the number fours, even the
- 16:00Speaker 10: country for every single minute of the game except for
- 16:03Speaker 10: maybe the last five minutes. The defense played incredible. Ty
- 16:09Speaker 10: Simpsons pass the ball forty four times and I don't
- 16:11Speaker 10: know did he throw for did he have one touchdown? Y? Yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 10: But like we took their weapons out, defense played amazing.
- 16:21Speaker 10: Offensive play calling was better. Still could have still definitely
- 16:24Speaker 10: could have put the game away. Beamer said it in
- 16:26Speaker 10: the post game. When you're up by eight with four
- 16:28Speaker 10: minutes left and you have the ball, you have got
- 16:30Speaker 10: to step on their throat and put the game away,
- 16:33Speaker 10: and we didn't do it. And the most sickening part
- 16:35Speaker 10: of the game, I think is just the first play,
- 16:37Speaker 10: pick six, where we throw it out wide, swing pass
- 16:41Speaker 10: off our guy into Alabama's hands, seven to zero, and
- 16:45Speaker 10: it's just like we did that exact same thing against
- 16:48Speaker 10: Georgia when we were ranked number twenty four. Georgia was
- 16:51Speaker 10: number three. Swing pass out wide, pick six, Georgia touchdown.
- 16:55Speaker 10: And it's like, how do we have identical plays against
- 16:58Speaker 10: a number four team in Georgia and then a number
- 17:00Speaker 10: four team in Alabama. We've given away every game this year,
- 17:04Speaker 10: minus the Vanderbilt game, and it's just like, when does it?
- 17:08Speaker 10: When does it end? Probably next year when we make
- 17:11Speaker 10: a run. But it just sucks, man, because it says
- 17:16Speaker 10: a lot about Beamer two, like to get the team ready.
- 17:18Speaker 10: We've been kicking ourselves in the butt all year. Morale
- 17:24Speaker 10: would be an easy thing to lose, but he didn't
- 17:26Speaker 10: lose it. The team showed up, the crowd showed up.
- 17:29Speaker 10: And so when you walk away from that game three
- 17:32Speaker 10: and five on the year, going to Ole Miss playing
- 17:35Speaker 10: at night, going to Texas A and M I believe,
- 17:38Speaker 10: playing at night, and then Coastal and Clemson. It's like
- 17:42Speaker 10: he's done an amazing job keeping the team in it
- 17:44Speaker 10: for all the things that haven't gone our way. And
- 17:46Speaker 10: it kind of hurts too because it's our first game.
- 17:47Speaker 10: Our injury report has been pretty much empty, and we
- 17:51Speaker 10: competed with the best team in the country one of them.
- 17:55Speaker 10: So it just it's just like every single year, just
- 17:59Speaker 10: pain pain.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Is there any party that's nervous about the portal world
- 18:05Speaker 2: with you guys being three and five.
- 18:08Speaker 4: And what it could potentially look like at the end
- 18:10Speaker 4: of I'm I'm saying that's what it's gonna look like.
- 18:11Speaker 10: But yeah, it's just so tough to say because with Sellers,
- 18:14Speaker 10: you really have no idea if he's gonna go to
- 18:17Speaker 10: the NFL or stay. I think if he stays, he
- 18:19Speaker 10: doesn't stay at South Carolina. Dylan Stewart, he's an interesting
- 18:24Speaker 10: one because he's not from South Carolina, he has no
- 18:27Speaker 10: home ties. He's been playing his butt off the last
- 18:29Speaker 10: three weeks and the whole defense wants to win. But
- 18:32Speaker 10: you can see it. I mean, Stuart is he's getting gassed,
- 18:35Speaker 10: like because he's going hard every single plane. He's making
- 18:38Speaker 10: so much impact that as an ultimate competitor, you wouldn't
- 18:42Speaker 10: It wouldn't be the most shocking thing in the world
- 18:43Speaker 10: if he went somewhere else. Hopefully he stays. I know
- 18:47Speaker 10: that he loves Columbia. Nick Carver loves that man Nick
- 18:50Speaker 10: Carver on Thursday before the game, and he was He's
- 18:53Speaker 10: a good dude, good kids'. Meeting him was just like
- 18:56Speaker 10: a good reminder of like, this guy is like twenty
- 18:59Speaker 10: years old old, really just started playing for real football
- 19:02Speaker 10: three years ago, and it's kind of enjoying just every
- 19:05Speaker 10: every piece of it. Yeah, has like a naive love
- 19:08Speaker 10: for the game, which I wish I could say the
- 19:11Speaker 10: same for myself, but.
- 19:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:15Speaker 10: I mean, it's tough to say, like I want, I
- 19:18Speaker 10: want what's best for all of our best guys, and
- 19:21Speaker 10: I believe what's best for him is in Colombia. But
- 19:23Speaker 10: it's tough. You're three and five guys want to win
- 19:25Speaker 10: championships and this is a letdown of a year.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, she was telling about a couple whispers we've heard.
- 19:33Speaker 1: You have to tell I thought we agreed not to
- 19:36Speaker 1: and I was really hoping to get to Alabama right now,
- 19:39Speaker 1: but you it's too late now now now you have
- 19:42Speaker 1: to tell.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Them there's whispers that there's seven million dollars on the
- 19:49Speaker 4: table for Leonori's Sellers. There's whispers there was eight last year. Okay,
- 19:58Speaker 4: again just whispers. I'm not saying it's a it's a
- 20:00Speaker 4: guarantee or anything like that.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That's one of the whispers.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Though.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Is it in the southeast? Yeah, yes, to one state over?
- 20:09Speaker 1: Will does it?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Let me blame?
- 20:10Speaker 4: Let me look at but yes, is it one state over?
- 20:19Speaker 2: Let me take let me zoom out here on my phone.
- 20:24Speaker 1: One of the jobs. The head coaches may or may
- 20:28Speaker 1: not be there next year.
- 20:30Speaker 10: Oh so probably not one.
- 20:31Speaker 2: What I'm seeing, what I'm thinking is it's two states over.
- 20:34Speaker 10: Yeah, there's a golf to it, and there's a.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Uh again, it's it's whispers.
- 20:47Speaker 10: Yeah, money is going to be all over the place
- 20:49Speaker 10: for him.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:50Speaker 10: Because there's also still a bunch of NFL scouts that
- 20:53Speaker 10: are that are clearly watching the tape. He got to
- 20:56Speaker 10: see it in person of like Leonora Sellers leads the
- 20:59Speaker 10: nation and broken towns.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a freak.
- 21:03Speaker 10: So it's like the you know, the stats aren't there,
- 21:05Speaker 10: so the stat watcher football fans have no idea. They
- 21:07Speaker 10: all say, oh, Leonora Sellers he was over hyped.
- 21:09Speaker 2: He's this, he's that.
- 21:10Speaker 10: But then the scouts that are watcher like, this is
- 21:13Speaker 10: one of the most special athletes we've seen. So it's
- 21:16Speaker 10: like he could leave and goes to the draft, and
- 21:19Speaker 10: I like Seller's chances of staying at South Carolina. I'm
- 21:23Speaker 10: more nervous of Dylan Stewart.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yeah, tell you what, Dylan Stewart looked great.
- 21:27Speaker 2: He looked amazing.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Man, he would look great, amazing blue. No, hey, keep
- 21:33Speaker 1: it in house.
- 21:34Speaker 10: We look horrible up there. It's cold weather up there.
- 21:37Speaker 10: He's a short sleeve player.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Good DC from DC.
- 21:42Speaker 1: He's told there.
- 21:43Speaker 10: No, he looks tough in the garden in black and
- 21:47Speaker 10: the number two d end come and visit.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I would love for him to stay there for you,
- 21:52Speaker 1: for South Carolina, you guys deserve if he were to leave, though,
- 21:55Speaker 1: keep it nouse, No, keep it nouse.
- 21:59Speaker 4: I feel like SEC players that Oh, I mean, that's
- 22:02Speaker 4: Haynes was Alabama and I went up to Michigan.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Himself and thirty hundred and thirty two touchdowns.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Watch, thank you. I appreciate that.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I couldn't help myself too. I was like, I was like,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna get home. I'm gonna watch the game. I
- 22:20Speaker 1: have it saved on the YouTube TV or whatever. And
- 22:24Speaker 1: then we get back and I'm like, let me just
- 22:27Speaker 1: see what's going on now. He was like halfway the
- 22:29Speaker 1: first and I was like, I gotta watch this entire game. Now,
- 22:32Speaker 1: watch the entire game. Yeah, it was Uh, it was
- 22:36Speaker 1: a rivalry game. I think they got the Michigan State
- 22:39Speaker 1: got a garbage time back door cover. But the offense,
- 22:42Speaker 1: it wasn't like the best performance through the year. It's
- 22:45Speaker 1: not what you want. It was like the most conservative
- 22:47Speaker 1: game plan I've seen out of Michigan this entire year. Defense, though,
- 22:50Speaker 1: like the last two weeks since USC has completely changed
- 22:54Speaker 1: their game plan to where they were. Butzing fifty percent
- 22:57Speaker 1: of the time last week was twenty five percent of
- 22:58Speaker 1: the time. I wouldn't be shocked if the number it
- 23:00Speaker 1: was even lower this week. But they're letting the horses
- 23:02Speaker 1: run right now, and it's given me a lot of
- 23:04Speaker 1: excitement watching that defensive group play the way they are
- 23:08Speaker 1: right now. So I'm very I mean, there's a very
- 23:11Speaker 1: strong chance we're playing Ohio State for a playoff bid,
- 23:15Speaker 1: which would be don't sleep on Northwestern, don't sleep on
- 23:18Speaker 1: northwestes you got.
- 23:19Speaker 2: A bye week this week.
- 23:20Speaker 1: We know we up Predue this weekend, and then we
- 23:22Speaker 1: have maybe Northwestern after a bye and then we have Maryland,
- 23:29Speaker 1: which is gonna be tough at Maryland, and then Ohio State.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 23:33Speaker 9: How did Bryce play this week?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Good? Statistically not great, but uh, I think he put
- 23:41Speaker 1: the ball in positions for guys to be sucessful. There
- 23:44Speaker 1: was one two linebackers and a receiver that will not
- 23:47Speaker 1: be named, and he thread the needle perfectly hit that
- 23:49Speaker 1: receiver in the face, literally hit him in the face.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And so yeah, there was He had a couple of
- 23:56Speaker 1: nice throws, but it was like he threw the ball
- 23:58Speaker 1: seventeen times like it was. The game was We're gonna
- 24:01Speaker 1: run the football and play defense. There was no offense
- 24:04Speaker 1: or butts about it. Third and seven plus. I could
- 24:08Speaker 1: do away with that game plan. I could do what
- 24:10Speaker 1: I could do away with that.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Let's not be in third or seven.
- 24:12Speaker 1: But don't ever apologize for a win. That's what I'll
- 24:15Speaker 1: say about that. And it shout out Michigan State. That's
- 24:17Speaker 1: probably my least favorite school of all of the schools.
- 24:20Speaker 1: They got up for that game. They played hard. There
- 24:22Speaker 1: was a lot of times Michigan had stepped on their
- 24:24Speaker 1: throat and they fought back their way in to get
- 24:26Speaker 1: that child's kid the quarterback for Michigan State. He I mean,
- 24:30Speaker 1: he had a horrendous game, but then he had a
- 24:31Speaker 1: couple of drives. It's like, oh, this kid, he's you
- 24:34Speaker 1: could tell he's a special athlete, like he's he's young.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Young.
- 24:38Speaker 1: So team that had nothing, they had nothing to play
- 24:41Speaker 1: for their three and four, three and five whatever it was,
- 24:44Speaker 1: and they h yeah, they got up. They got up
- 24:46Speaker 1: for that game. East Lansing stated it the whole time.
- 24:48Speaker 1: So a lot of credit to them, a lot of
- 24:50Speaker 1: credit even though I spies that school.
- 24:52Speaker 2: But anyway, got the little brother.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Got the little brother. I did it again. Yeah, I
- 24:57Speaker 1: think that's five five years in row, four years in
- 24:59Speaker 1: a row. Talk to me about Northwestern Nebraska, because I'm
- 25:03Speaker 1: watching that game on just like kind of refreshing and
- 25:06Speaker 1: just seeing the scores go back and forth and I
- 25:08Speaker 1: don't know, really unfolded.
- 25:11Speaker 2: We took our business.
- 25:12Speaker 4: I was saying it last week, like this isn't this
- 25:14Speaker 4: wasn't a you know, you guys played Northwestern. You guys
- 25:17Speaker 4: should handle Northwestern. I'm glad we got out that energy
- 25:20Speaker 4: because you had to show up for this game. There
- 25:22Speaker 4: was a moment there was like twenty one to six,
- 25:24Speaker 4: and the refs have absolutely fucking screwed us on a
- 25:27Speaker 4: fourth and short to where they completed it. They even
- 25:29Speaker 4: reviewed it, but the dude was clearly short of the
- 25:32Speaker 4: first down, not like clearly, but you just know he
- 25:35Speaker 4: was short of the first down marker to where he.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Double caught it. Did anybody catch this replay?
- 25:40Speaker 4: Anybody see this play to where he caught the ball
- 25:43Speaker 4: coming back to it and if he catches it, he's
- 25:46Speaker 4: got a first down. But he double caught it to
- 25:49Speaker 4: where he bobbled it and then fully secured it once
- 25:51Speaker 4: he hit the ground. And when you're watching it like
- 25:54Speaker 4: he wasn't, he didn't get the first down. But they
- 25:57Speaker 4: end up giving them that conversion. They go down the
- 25:59Speaker 4: score that drive, Dylan throws a pick, they end up scoring.
- 26:03Speaker 4: They're back in the fucking game. Bro, it's it's it's
- 26:07Speaker 4: twenty one all because they got a two point conversion.
- 26:10Speaker 4: We end up winning twenty eight twenty one. But look,
- 26:15Speaker 4: there's things you gotta take care of. They had another
- 26:17Speaker 4: explosive on us on the run game, whereas another fourth
- 26:19Speaker 4: and short and the d N is just crashing down
- 26:22Speaker 4: the right tackle and mostly just focuses on they think
- 26:24Speaker 4: it's going to be a pile for the fourth and short,
- 26:27Speaker 4: so the end just crashing him down, not even looking
- 26:29Speaker 4: at the ball, and Buddy scoots out the side and
- 26:31Speaker 4: takes it to the house when they scored off of
- 26:33Speaker 4: that interception. Massive game this week Massive game this weekend.
- 26:40Speaker 4: I mean this like, USC to me is a is
- 26:42Speaker 4: a very good football team. They're coming to Nebraska. It
- 26:45Speaker 4: is a blackout game, which I'm stoked about. They got
- 26:47Speaker 4: the all black unis on. But this is a tough
- 26:50Speaker 4: fucking football team. This and right now, the line is
- 26:53Speaker 4: like minus six and a half USC at Nebraska to
- 26:57Speaker 4: where I like, it's obviously it's this is a moneyline
- 27:00Speaker 4: for Willy c. But I'm looking at that line and
- 27:02Speaker 4: if you're everybody else, you're almost salivating at this. Uh,
- 27:05Speaker 4: USC minus six and a half at Nebraska, Like I
- 27:07Speaker 4: think they're giving us some fluff there because we're gonna have.
- 27:10Speaker 2: To come correct. Like this is this is this is
- 27:13Speaker 2: a fucking game. This is a tough game.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Lot of respect for USC. This is the season, This
- 27:20Speaker 2: is the season.
- 27:21Speaker 1: This is this is the season, absolutely, and that's a
- 27:24Speaker 1: good ball Cup. The huge win is it being in Lincoln?
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's in Lincoln. Yeah, the crowd ninety two thousand whatever
- 27:30Speaker 1: it is. Yeah, you know everybody's you mean they're blackout. Yeah,
- 27:34Speaker 1: they might need Willy C on the silo. You might
- 27:39Speaker 1: have to goas Will Yeah, is we'll go to me
- 27:45Speaker 1: in attendance for the epic USC versus Nebraska night game Saturday.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Hashtag tear targets from Garrett Lake Lake Underscore Garrett.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Yeah, there are some internal conversations being had at the household.
- 27:59Speaker 4: You know, either be at the game or I think
- 28:01Speaker 4: this could very much be a stream game for myself.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Either way, this is this is JP said it, this
- 28:07Speaker 4: is the season, like, ah, yeah, we need everybody.
- 28:13Speaker 1: What times the game?
- 28:14Speaker 2: Night game? Yeah, this is night game.
- 28:18Speaker 1: If there was ever a time for Nebraska, like it's perfect.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Get they get back in the top twenty five. Another
- 28:27Speaker 4: another opportunity on the drought we've been having against top
- 28:30Speaker 4: twenty five games.
- 28:32Speaker 1: People question marks about the offense, the explosive plays US see,
- 28:36Speaker 1: they have a lot of explosive plays. USC beat up,
- 28:39Speaker 1: beat up Michigan.
- 28:41Speaker 4: And the thought too is like there is a very
- 28:43Speaker 4: much a controversial we could have got called for holding
- 28:47Speaker 4: on the game. It was I want to say it
- 28:49Speaker 4: was fourth down. They hit us on a double move.
- 28:51Speaker 4: All buddies grabbed him coming out of his route, coming
- 28:54Speaker 4: out of the slugo, and fortunately, you know they don't
- 28:57Speaker 4: call it. We gotta get back. I'm thinking this is
- 28:59Speaker 4: get back for us and up the fourth and short
- 29:01Speaker 4: call on our end. But it happened a couple times.
- 29:04Speaker 4: They had a couple of big plays on third and
- 29:06Speaker 4: medium to where we're sending the house, and so all
- 29:11Speaker 4: the guys are blitz feet on islands and they hit
- 29:13Speaker 4: us with the double moves. So if you're a USC
- 29:16Speaker 4: and you're looking at that tape, it's like they got
- 29:18Speaker 4: some cats, Like.
- 29:19Speaker 2: This is this is a game, baby, I'm.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Excited about it. Yeah, I'm excited about it.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Dude. Emma Johnson has been running his ass off, bro.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I think he does.
- 29:33Speaker 4: He lead the Big ten in rushing yards, led the
- 29:38Speaker 4: entire country and broken tackles over the weekend.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Didn't play.
- 29:42Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean jeremih Love had a ton of success
- 29:45Speaker 10: running against USC.
- 29:48Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, the formula the fourth like Emmitt Johnson does
- 29:52Speaker 6: not lead the Big Ten in rushing. Michigan's Justice Haynes does.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yeah, well last week, Emma Johnson was because Justice didn't.
- 29:59Speaker 1: He only played a quarter and a half versus USC
- 30:02Speaker 1: missed the entire Washington game and then played this first game,
- 30:07Speaker 1: so he missed about one and a half games.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah, either way, Washington is a good ball club.
- 30:13Speaker 1: That's a good ball club.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Yeah, they handled Illinoiss. But Emma Johnson's just having a
- 30:20Speaker 4: year like this is you know, and this game is
- 30:23Speaker 4: gonna be awesome. I'm excited. I'm obviously nervous because USC
- 30:26Speaker 4: is a very good football team.
- 30:28Speaker 2: This is very much a.
- 30:28Speaker 4: Spotlight primetime game for Nebraska. And because you win this game,
- 30:32Speaker 4: you're you're back in all the conversations.
- 30:34Speaker 1: You Yeah, you win this game. It's like, oh, this
- 30:37Speaker 1: is this is a playoff? Is a playoff?
- 30:38Speaker 10: TA you control your you win this game, you control
- 30:40Speaker 10: your destiny.
- 30:42Speaker 2: We control destiny, PERI period.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Right, But if you're talk about this, yeah, we're in
- 30:50Speaker 1: the playoffs from here on out.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Right, We're in the playoffs from here on out.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Every every two loss team is in that situation. Because
- 30:57Speaker 1: I'm looking at mission like, yeah, you're absolutely right.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Yeah, every two loss team is in playoff mode right now,
- 31:03Speaker 4: and it's very much a playoff game this weekend in Lincoln,
- 31:05Speaker 4: Nebraska at night, prime time under the lights.
- 31:09Speaker 2: We need everybody gotta be there, Black unis, there's.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Got there's gotta be a fly house situation. Will goes.
- 31:17Speaker 1: You gotta get to Lincoln in the morning. Gotta get
- 31:20Speaker 1: to Lincoln in the morning, our flight, walk the boys out.
- 31:26Speaker 1: This might be it, man, talk about look look at
- 31:30Speaker 1: what me and Matt Rule have done. Me being will
- 31:33Speaker 1: this is the time.
- 31:34Speaker 10: It's also that the opportunity though for Nebraska to let
- 31:36Speaker 10: Will know like, hey, we got you. You don't even
- 31:40Speaker 10: need to make the trip because it won't be worth
- 31:43Speaker 10: I won't.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Even I don't want to get any Baltimore material. There's
- 31:48Speaker 4: a great ball club. They're playing very well. That offense
- 31:50Speaker 4: is high powered. Yeah, man, but great spot for Nebraska
- 31:55Speaker 4: this weekend. Everybody need everybody every I'm with you. But yeah,
- 32:04Speaker 4: that's how feeling. I am glad that we came out
- 32:06Speaker 4: handle business against Northwestern.
- 32:08Speaker 2: It's a tough football team. Nobody should sleep on them.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Nelson eight o wait Awa. Nelson says, who do you
- 32:14Speaker 1: think has the best chance to make the CFB CFP,
- 32:18Speaker 1: b YU, Navy, Notre Dame or Texas Tech. I think
- 32:22Speaker 1: the ant I mean is Texas Tech and Notre Dame.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Who has the better chance? Undefeated b YU is.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Undefeated, Big twelve. You're thinking b YU, Texas Tech. It's there, Cincinnati,
- 32:38Speaker 4: Cincinnati's right there. All these teams. I think they're playing
- 32:41Speaker 4: each other on the back of the season.
- 32:43Speaker 3: B YU and Texas Tech. I think this week, Yes.
- 32:46Speaker 8: In Texas Tech is on their third string quarterback there
- 32:49Speaker 8: in the.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Back no rolling.
- 32:55Speaker 10: Every conference is like there's no clear cut champion except
- 32:59Speaker 10: maybe the.
- 33:00Speaker 2: ACC Georgia Tech.
- 33:04Speaker 3: True.
- 33:04Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm saying Georgia Tech Miami like probably would be
- 33:07Speaker 10: a good game, but.
- 33:09Speaker 1: That seems like it's gonna be the championship, right. Yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 1: those two plays did they play?
- 33:14Speaker 10: I don't know if they play Georgia Tech and Miami,
- 33:19Speaker 10: but the CC like any I mean Alabama's play calling
- 33:22Speaker 10: at the end of the game. I don't know if
- 33:24Speaker 10: y'all saw it, No, you know, it was it was legal.
- 33:28Speaker 10: It was lethal, like wi wildcat to win the game,
- 33:33Speaker 10: fake reverse. Yeah, he can talk about it, but like,
- 33:36Speaker 10: those are the plays that I'm like, that's championship that's
- 33:39Speaker 10: championship football.
- 33:40Speaker 7: Yeah, they ever had to have it moments, and Jeremy
- 33:43Speaker 7: wasn't having the best day and what we needed in
- 33:45Speaker 7: most he was there.
- 33:48Speaker 2: I will say.
- 33:49Speaker 7: At the game, JP and I talked about it. You've
- 33:53Speaker 7: been there, Jack, You've been there. Sandstorm gets insane. It
- 33:57Speaker 7: got the most hyped here in the game. But South
- 34:00Speaker 7: Carolina had to come out with the ball. So the
- 34:03Speaker 7: stadium goes from being as loud as possible to coming
- 34:06Speaker 7: back down. It was probably the best case scenario for Alabama.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:12Speaker 7: Yeah, And the first time I was like, I think
- 34:14Speaker 7: half the stadium forgot that. It's second and nine when
- 34:17Speaker 7: we come out of this, and it was just it's.
- 34:19Speaker 2: So funny to listen to you with your costume one
- 34:22Speaker 2: right now.
- 34:24Speaker 7: But it was great, dude. I mean, yeah, we already
- 34:27Speaker 7: talked about South Carolina. But JP has motion in Colombia.
- 34:30Speaker 7: That is for sure.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Really for sure.
- 34:33Speaker 2: He's out there speaking it to the school. Is that
- 34:35Speaker 2: there speaking the classroom?
- 34:36Speaker 1: How was that, dude? How was speaking? Everybody going to that?
- 34:39Speaker 1: So you and Beam get a little coffee, old beer,
- 34:41Speaker 1: little bud light together.
- 34:42Speaker 10: What's going on now? Going back to talk to the classes?
- 34:45Speaker 10: That was that was awesome. That the pregame rush I
- 34:47Speaker 10: had before was like when you're getting ready to play
- 34:50Speaker 10: a game, and when you don't go play college, you
- 34:53Speaker 10: missed that feeling sits from high school to you never
- 34:56Speaker 10: know if you'll get it again. So my heart is
- 34:59Speaker 10: beating through my chip as I'm standing up there, and
- 35:01Speaker 10: then finally, you know, probably two minutes in, as they
- 35:03Speaker 10: just ask you like introduce yourself, you settle into it
- 35:07Speaker 10: and I put it in my post, but like it
- 35:09Speaker 10: just felt it is one of those crazy moments where
- 35:13Speaker 10: like I felt like I was doing what I was
- 35:14Speaker 10: supposed to do, where I was meant to do, and
- 35:17Speaker 10: to talk to like twenty kids after they're all lining
- 35:20Speaker 10: up to come talk to me, ask me about different
- 35:21Speaker 10: advice as well as to other speakers, and just like
- 35:25Speaker 10: seeing the looks in the eyes that some of the
- 35:27Speaker 10: fears that they had in the as a junior in
- 35:30Speaker 10: high school, junior in college, senior in college, and to
- 35:33Speaker 10: be able to try to impart some wisdom after sitting
- 35:36Speaker 10: in their seat and feeling those exact same fears was
- 35:40Speaker 10: just like a dream come true at a school that
- 35:42Speaker 10: I love, and it's like I grew up a fan
- 35:46Speaker 10: of South Carolina my whole entire life. And now while
- 35:48Speaker 10: I was able to speak at the journalism school where
- 35:50Speaker 10: I graduated from and the business school, Mitch's aunt is
- 35:53Speaker 10: one of.
- 35:54Speaker 2: The professors there.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Ant's class.
- 35:56Speaker 10: Yeah, and when I tell you that she might have
- 35:59Speaker 10: the best class across the whole school, it's like, I'm
- 36:02Speaker 10: not exaggerating at all. She's getting these kids prepared better
- 36:06Speaker 10: for anything in the next part of life than I've
- 36:08Speaker 10: seen any professor do. So shout out Beth and shout
- 36:11Speaker 10: out that class because she is. She's dialed in on
- 36:14Speaker 10: all of the right things that a lot of professors
- 36:16Speaker 10: are not. But it was I mean, it was, yeah,
- 36:20Speaker 10: it was. It was awesome. I almost don't have words
- 36:23Speaker 10: for it, even though I just gave a little speech
- 36:24Speaker 10: on it. It was just like it was so cool.
- 36:27Speaker 4: No, that's awesome, dude, because you do your mind, body,
- 36:31Speaker 4: and soul love South Carolina and getting to whatever range
- 36:36Speaker 4: of impact you're getting to have, but just getting to
- 36:37Speaker 4: have an impact on a school that you truly love
- 36:40Speaker 4: so much, dude.
- 36:41Speaker 10: They interviewed me before the game, like one of the
- 36:44Speaker 10: media people shout out Ethan and they're basically like, what's
- 36:47Speaker 10: it like being back home all this stuff and I'm
- 36:49Speaker 10: just Garrett and everybody. It was so I was like
- 36:57Speaker 10: getting emotional there as what was your favorite moments of
- 36:59Speaker 10: being a game cop?
- 37:00Speaker 3: Wow, I seen it all.
- 37:02Speaker 10: I was there for the hit. Yeah, I got Jasper
- 37:04Speaker 10: Brinkley's glove.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Yeah I got this.
- 37:06Speaker 10: I got that.
- 37:08Speaker 2: It was third and shut gotta have it moment.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesome, man. That fires me up for.
- 37:15Speaker 4: You on the on the SEC. The SEC is just
- 37:18Speaker 4: gonna be so fun to watch. Man shout out to
- 37:20Speaker 4: Vandy win in seventeen to ten.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Yeah, how about that last play? Yes, oh my god,
- 37:26Speaker 1: you see it. I did not last play the game.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Missouri throws a hail Mary and the ball is Did
- 37:31Speaker 1: they end up saying it was caught?
- 37:33Speaker 3: Yes, it was.
- 37:34Speaker 1: It was caught on like the one inch line to
- 37:37Speaker 1: where the receiver falls on the ground and his body
- 37:40Speaker 1: is on the goal line, but the ball is not.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Bro, we were me, Me and Matt and Ryan were
- 37:49Speaker 3: all there and like that play happened and it was
- 37:52Speaker 3: so loud, and then that play happened. We're like, oh ship,
- 37:56Speaker 3: what just happened? And like so dandy players are on
- 37:59Speaker 3: the field like Matt Ryan and I start walking on
- 38:01Speaker 3: the field, and then the refs like hold on the
- 38:03Speaker 3: previous plays under review, and so like everybody's just staring
- 38:07Speaker 3: up at the big board of like what happened?
- 38:08Speaker 2: Look at this yo? That is crazy crazy.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Literally six inches away from being a tie ball game. Yeah,
- 38:16Speaker 3: backup quarterback broke pabula unfortunately, Yeah, got got his ankle
- 38:22Speaker 3: rolled up on. Kind of like a scataboo situation like
- 38:25Speaker 3: air cast and everything. But that backup, like he was,
- 38:28Speaker 3: the offense did not slew down one bit once he
- 38:30Speaker 3: came in, So I think they're going to be in
- 38:31Speaker 3: a good spot like moving forward with this guy.
- 38:33Speaker 2: But man, that is nasty.
- 38:36Speaker 4: That is I I'm just getting even more mad than
- 38:39Speaker 4: about the wedding.
- 38:40Speaker 3: It was.
- 38:41Speaker 1: It was a great weekend football. I mean I missed
- 38:42Speaker 1: all of the time. I had to go back and
- 38:44Speaker 1: comb through and find some I.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Do need to give a shout out to Kaid on
- 38:48Speaker 3: their like I guess you could say povious game winning touchdown.
- 38:52Speaker 2: I saw that clip. Bro That is so sick.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Yeah one you guys put in the group chat, right,
- 38:55Speaker 1: is what you're talking about?
- 38:56Speaker 3: We like to play before Caid saw and uh Matt
- 39:01Speaker 3: and I like with our cameras and stuff and like
- 39:03Speaker 3: made eye contact. Was like we're that close. Next play
- 39:06Speaker 3: they score, you can literally like Paby is going over here.
- 39:09Speaker 3: You can see Caid come in pull him towards Matt
- 39:13Speaker 3: and I and like after the game of charging was like,
- 39:15Speaker 3: oh yeah, I saw ya. I did that completely on purpose, and.
- 39:17Speaker 1: It was that.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Pabby is about the roll and he just grabs him.
- 39:22Speaker 4: There you're coming to these boys.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Yeah, So sick.
- 39:25Speaker 7: Man video from the other angle where you can see
- 39:29Speaker 7: it all happened from a different point of view.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Yeah, awesome, the uh it was on here?
- 39:35Speaker 2: Paba on nap too, I did. I saw the clip, Dude, I.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Saw that as well. What do they say you have
- 39:43Speaker 1: any more eligibility?
- 39:44Speaker 5: Is?
- 39:45Speaker 1: Yeah? You about thirteen fourteen years in the league.
- 39:48Speaker 2: He did the Chad Johnson.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Feel feel that Pabo's mom. Yeah, that's so funny.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Bro.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Theo with the recruits too, Yeah, yeah, there's like six
- 40:00Speaker 1: one in the wheelchair.
- 40:01Speaker 3: He needs some refs.
- 40:02Speaker 2: He needs to be with the lower.
- 40:05Speaker 1: So now he's like one hundred and fifty of that
- 40:07Speaker 1: clip does go so hard, dude and Pavia So we
- 40:10Speaker 1: have the Heisman favorites right now Fernanda Mendozes plus two sixty,
- 40:14Speaker 1: Tys Simpson three p fifty, Julian say Put Julian Saying
- 40:20Speaker 1: Year plus four hundred check down, Charlie Marcel Reid plus
- 40:24Speaker 1: five hundred, and Diego Pavia plus eight fifty. A lot
- 40:28Speaker 1: of respect for all these guys. I do joke around
- 40:29Speaker 1: by saying, but like this bus might have to become
- 40:34Speaker 1: advertisement for Diego Pavia to win the Heisman. We might
- 40:37Speaker 1: have to stand on that and sway any voters that
- 40:40Speaker 1: might watch this show.
- 40:41Speaker 3: He didn't.
- 40:42Speaker 10: We should see if the bus is on board with that.
- 40:44Speaker 3: With that take, he didn't have it.
- 40:47Speaker 4: I love the Pavia like I love the Pavia magic,
- 40:50Speaker 4: I really do.
- 40:51Speaker 2: But I also love some Tyson.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Tyson that is the other one you look at you like, yeah.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Ma, Diego didn't have like the craziest game this weekend.
- 40:58Speaker 11: Twenty nine passing yards and interception.
- 41:01Speaker 2: It's just something about like winning the Heisman.
- 41:03Speaker 3: It sounds so weird to say that he has these.
- 41:09Speaker 11: Words of the show because I haven't seen it all
- 41:12Speaker 11: day and I'm not trying to do this Tennessee versus Vandy.
- 41:14Speaker 11: But Joey Aguilar had twenty less passing yards against Alabama
- 41:18Speaker 11: than Diego Pavia had.
- 41:20Speaker 9: Versus l s U and Missouri combined.
- 41:24Speaker 11: I love this for Vandy seven and one, but I
- 41:28Speaker 11: just don't know. I don't know it's fair, but I
- 41:36Speaker 11: think that it's like they're taking Vandy as a whole
- 41:38Speaker 11: and they should be doing this whole Heisman candasy thing
- 41:41Speaker 11: that they're trying to like push.
- 41:42Speaker 2: But I don't.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean like that or like the aura and
- 41:47Speaker 3: the vibe of Diego like just radiates through the entire
- 41:50Speaker 3: team and that's what makes it like, yeah, like Pababi
- 41:53Speaker 3: didn't have the greatest game and like it hasn't really
- 41:55Speaker 3: had like that Heisman moment, but like the entire team
- 41:58Speaker 3: embodies his swag and I don't like, obviously I don't
- 42:01Speaker 3: think that's Heisman worthy, but like there's something to be said.
- 42:03Speaker 1: About it that might be Heisman worthy. Establishing an entire
- 42:07Speaker 1: culture on a football team taking it, taking a dead
- 42:10Speaker 1: taking a dead program, transfer in and everyone being like, yo,
- 42:14Speaker 1: who the fuck is this Mexican kid with a with
- 42:16Speaker 1: a wrestling brain and he's just this is my team
- 42:20Speaker 1: now takes over and they, dude, they walk around like
- 42:23Speaker 1: their shit doesn't stink, and it's like, yeah, it hasn't.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Like they kind of just keep doing their thing.
- 42:28Speaker 3: They might be flipping a five star commit to Georgia
- 42:30Speaker 3: who's a Nashville kid, like he was at the game,
- 42:33Speaker 3: so like the aura Vandy is really.
- 42:35Speaker 2: They've taken on the identity of old Diego Pope.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and that I think there's lots of to be
- 42:40Speaker 1: said with that. Listen, we don't have to say he's
- 42:42Speaker 1: got to win the Heisman, but can we get him
- 42:44Speaker 1: to New York. Let's get him to New York so
- 42:47Speaker 1: I could see and I hope he wears this crazy,
- 42:50Speaker 1: gaudy iced out chain that might just say pave on
- 42:53Speaker 1: it big as fuck. And he's been like, Yo, this
- 42:57Speaker 1: kid went to New Mexico, no offers, goes to an
- 43:01Speaker 1: SEC school and he's seven and one in the SEC
- 43:04Speaker 1: right now. That's incredible.
- 43:05Speaker 3: Some of the undersized I was talking to some of
- 43:08Speaker 3: the coaches like after the game, like we were somewhere
- 43:12Speaker 3: and they one of them was the O line coach
- 43:15Speaker 3: and he's like, tell Taylor to fuel that jet up. Fuck,
- 43:21Speaker 3: And I'm like, Taylor is shitting himself right now.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I am, I am and I'm also like I think
- 43:27Speaker 1: this is I wouldn't be upset anymore. And it's like
- 43:30Speaker 1: that one of the cooler stories ever support where kid's
- 43:33Speaker 1: coming to the shop today so we can watch film together. Well,
- 43:35Speaker 1: he's coming over at three today and we're gonna break
- 43:38Speaker 1: down the film. And he's like, hey, I want to
- 43:39Speaker 1: watch film. Like, yeah, dude, let's watch film. Let's to
- 43:42Speaker 1: work on some stuff. Yeah, because I gotta get him
- 43:45Speaker 1: an amazing blue uniform next year. I mean it's all
- 43:48Speaker 1: hands on deck. Anything you can do to help the program.
- 43:51Speaker 1: So yeah, dude, I do I want them all. I didn't
- 43:55Speaker 1: tell me to someone to make a play. There's a
- 43:57Speaker 1: kid from Michigan State. Dude, he's like six to His
- 43:58Speaker 1: last name is Marsh also, and I'm like this guy,
- 44:02Speaker 1: he's a selfless player. He runs No dude, Our Marsh
- 44:06Speaker 1: is awesome. Our Marsh is good. Form er five star
- 44:08Speaker 1: clumb knows all about him. But yeah, I'm just getting
- 44:12Speaker 1: I see all these cats, and I see the world
- 44:13Speaker 1: we live in now, and I know Michigan's got the funds.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I'm just thinking to myself, Yeah we did that. That
- 44:22Speaker 1: was a nice post by them.
- 44:24Speaker 4: Yeah Chefty posted. Yeah, I'm also recruiting. I'm also recruiting. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 44:38Speaker 4: Vandy's got a real shot to be in the College
- 44:39Speaker 4: able playoff man.
- 44:40Speaker 1: A real shot. Yes.
- 44:43Speaker 4: The wrestler schedule here, they're at Texas right now. Texas
- 44:46Speaker 4: is favored by two and a half.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Way different this week. I didn't get to watch the
- 44:51Speaker 1: whole game, but I did see the box score of
- 44:53Speaker 1: that while I'm at Epcot walking through Finland, and I'm
- 44:57Speaker 1: just like, this one's in the bag. Auburn and these motherfuckers, dude.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Texas, Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee.
- 45:05Speaker 9: Nuts Tennessee.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah, who's the rest of your schedule? Jack? With Tennessee.
- 45:11Speaker 11: We have Oklahoma this week, which would be awesome, Dark
- 45:13Speaker 11: Moade activated, and then we have New Mexico State Florida,
- 45:17Speaker 11: excuse me, Florida, then New Mexico.
- 45:19Speaker 9: State and then Vandy.
- 45:22Speaker 11: So I mean we got three big games too, big ones,
- 45:24Speaker 11: big ones.
- 45:27Speaker 9: Yeah, Florida away Vandy home.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Was Florida.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Yeah, playoff game.
- 45:35Speaker 1: We were on by this week we're looking for Yeah, okay,
- 45:39Speaker 1: fair enough, any rumblings, it's.
- 45:42Speaker 9: Lane kiffing her bus for Florida.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin her bus.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Alright, all right, Ole Miss too. They look nasty to
- 45:51Speaker 1: old miss is nasty. Dan Lanning something, but he will go.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, Joe Brady.
- 46:01Speaker 1: That would be heartbreaking for Oregon man.
- 46:03Speaker 6: Joe Brady should go back to LSU be the head
- 46:05Speaker 6: coach he was when they won the Natty.
- 46:08Speaker 1: There you go, all right, we gotta wrap this up. Boys.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Let's uh any parting thoughts anybody their team anything? Titans suck.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Titans are the least competitive team in the NFL.
- 46:20Speaker 10: I messaged with Ty Simpson after the game and he
- 46:23Speaker 10: told me to let you know that you picked the
- 46:25Speaker 10: wrong team, and he left it at that, which hurts me.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Just that's crazy.
- 46:32Speaker 1: He would just hurt you in order to hurt me.
- 46:35Speaker 1: And yeah, hey, Ty, you were right. You keep that
- 46:37Speaker 1: ball high and tight. Brother. After I get diego to
- 46:41Speaker 1: New York. I have my goal. Well listen, you'll be
- 46:44Speaker 1: there too. You'll be there too.
- 46:46Speaker 4: We got NFL Talk coming up with Greg Olsen and
- 46:49Speaker 4: we also who's on this one? Mike Elk a few
- 46:52Speaker 4: interviews today. Mike Elko coach elco from A and M
- 46:55Speaker 4: you'll get here from him. Awesome show big up sidey kisses,
- 46:58Speaker 4: don't forget to leave comments and make sure you're subscribed.

- 47:03Speaker 1: We're going to interrupt this episode real quick to tell
- 47:05Speaker 1: you guys, by the way, I just bit my cheek.
- 47:07Speaker 1: That was tough. That was tough for me. Make sure
- 47:08Speaker 1: you're subscribed. And I also want to talk to you
- 47:10Speaker 1: about roe Roast sparks are a tune win prescription for
- 47:13Speaker 1: guys who need a secret weapon against softness. Roast sparks
- 47:16Speaker 1: can give you bigger, thicker, longer erections because they get

- 49:48Speaker 4: Guys, I'll be fully transparent. This is gonna be a legitimate,
- 49:52Speaker 4: full on old school podcast for your boy. Because I
- 49:56Speaker 4: had a really good buddy of mine who had a
- 49:58Speaker 4: wedding over the weekend and it was out in Sleepy Hollow.
- 50:02Speaker 4: Service was rough. The wedding was on Sunday. I didn't
- 50:05Speaker 4: get to watch a lick of football. I got to
- 50:06Speaker 4: follow some of the scores. I was involved in the wedding.
- 50:10Speaker 4: I had to fly into Loguardia drive an hour and
- 50:12Speaker 4: a half to get up to Sleepy Hollow. Sleepy Hollow
- 50:15Speaker 4: was wonderful. I'm talking about it is Halloween town. It
- 50:19Speaker 4: was a good time. But as far as watching ball
- 50:21Speaker 4: and coming correct on this podcast, this show Today with
- 50:24Speaker 4: Greg Olsen, I'm it's more of like I'm gonna ask
- 50:27Speaker 4: a few questions, sit and listen a little bit, maybe
- 50:29Speaker 4: tell a couple jokes, because I didn't really get to
- 50:32Speaker 4: watch the only thing I see as it feels like
- 50:33Speaker 4: it was separation Sunday because there were a lot of
- 50:36Speaker 4: ass beatings.
- 50:37Speaker 1: A lot of ass beatings out there for sure. Yeah,
- 50:39Speaker 1: let's start with so Greag called the Panthers Bills game.
- 50:42Speaker 1: The Panthers got absolutely blown out.
- 50:44Speaker 2: I saw that, dude, What the fuck happened to the Falcons.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Okay, that's.
- 50:52Speaker 2: What happened. What happened with their.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Unimaginative in the run game. They've gotten found out they
- 50:57Speaker 1: have not used b Jon Robinson the way they should.
- 51:00Speaker 1: I know, Greg, We're we're not gonna have massive takes
- 51:03Speaker 1: on this thing, but like, if you got arguably the
- 51:05Speaker 1: best running back in the NFL, maybe keep them in
- 51:07Speaker 1: the game more consistently.
- 51:08Speaker 9: Right, Yeah, I'm not sure. Every week in and week out,
- 51:13Speaker 9: the Falcons are probably one of the biggest anomalies in
- 51:16Speaker 9: the NFL. I mean, I just got done studying the
- 51:19Speaker 9: Bills because I had the Bills Panthers game and the
- 51:21Speaker 9: last game the Bills played before thereby was against the Falcons.
- 51:25Speaker 9: And the Falcons beat them, and they looked great. The
- 51:29Speaker 9: Geon's running for long touchdowns, and they looked really good
- 51:32Speaker 9: on defense, getting after Josh and sacking them handful of times,
- 51:36Speaker 9: and you're like, all right, Falcons are back. You know,
- 51:38Speaker 9: Falcons found it. You know, earlier in the year they
- 51:40Speaker 9: lost thirty to zero against the Panthers, and then they
- 51:43Speaker 9: beat the Bills, and it just seems like every week
- 51:46Speaker 9: they just alternate.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Handled Washington, handle Washington, handled.
- 51:50Speaker 9: Yeah, hand Washington. Then you get beat by the was
- 51:54Speaker 9: it the Niners?
- 51:55Speaker 4: It was close though, like they went out to San France,
- 51:58Speaker 4: it was pretty it was close, right.
- 52:00Speaker 1: It was closed. It was twenty to ten. But the
- 52:02Speaker 1: run game was like non existent in San Francisco when
- 52:04Speaker 1: they played. Because we Will after the Falcons Bills game,
- 52:09Speaker 1: I saw the score. I didn't watch the whole game.
- 52:12Speaker 1: There are other games on, so I was like, man,
- 52:13Speaker 1: I wonder what happened there, and Will is like, Buddy,
- 52:16Speaker 1: this team they're sticky in the secondary, their defensive line
- 52:19Speaker 1: standing up, their run games, incredible Pennex he's getting the
- 52:22Speaker 1: he's dished the ball. They got Drake one and they
- 52:23Speaker 1: got Pitts. He's coming back.
- 52:24Speaker 2: So I'm like, and they bullied the b I'm like, oh, I.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Gotta go watch this film if you turn it on,
- 52:28Speaker 1: and like, there's not a better team that one game
- 52:31Speaker 1: there runs eleven personnel outside zone better than the Atlanta Falcons.
- 52:34Speaker 1: You're like, oh, dude, these guys really have it figured out.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Like not a lot of motion, not a lot of
- 52:40Speaker 1: like window dressing on their plays, but they're like all
- 52:43Speaker 1: off the time and are getting to their spots. They're
- 52:45Speaker 1: getting pushed on the front side they're cutting off in
- 52:46Speaker 1: the backside and Bijon looks incredible, So I dune Koolai
- 52:49Speaker 1: with him twos where we're in the locker room the
- 52:51Speaker 1: next week and we're breaking down who's gonna win forty
- 52:54Speaker 1: nine ers of the Falcons and I'm kind of up
- 52:57Speaker 1: in the air because Kyle Shannon to me, he's Coach
- 52:58Speaker 1: of the Year candidate with all the injuries they've had
- 53:01Speaker 1: and been able to still operate at extremely high level.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Obviously they dropped this week and Will goes, don't overthink it.
- 53:06Speaker 1: It's Falcons. I'm not saying that the throw shake because
- 53:08Speaker 1: the Falcons and up losing that game. I'm saying I
- 53:11Speaker 1: saw the film as well. I'm like, this team can
- 53:13Speaker 1: be dominant. Yeah, and then these next two weeks happened. Yeah,
- 53:16Speaker 1: and they play the Dolphins, who are like a walking out.
- 53:18Speaker 1: It's Ootober, They're a zombie walking around. I'm thinking they're done.
- 53:23Speaker 1: And wouldn't you know it, they dropped what thirty eight
- 53:26Speaker 1: on them.
- 53:28Speaker 4: When I checked the score one time, it was like
- 53:29Speaker 4: thirty to three or something like that.
- 53:31Speaker 9: I was like, it wasn't even close. It wasn't even competitive. Yeah,
- 53:34Speaker 9: I I don't get it. I don't know how you
- 53:38Speaker 9: can be so good one week and so bad. I
- 53:41Speaker 9: understand stubbing your toe once in a while, Right, it's
- 53:44Speaker 9: the NFL. You're gonna have a bad game, You're gonna
- 53:46Speaker 9: have a bad outing. To be so back and forth
- 53:50Speaker 9: weekend week out, get blown out, look like the best
- 53:53Speaker 9: team in the league. Get blown out. It's it's almost
- 53:57Speaker 9: hard to do. It's I don't even know how to
- 54:01Speaker 9: wrap my head around it. It's pretty it's pretty amazing, especially.
- 54:05Speaker 4: When you're you know, you're coach Morris and you're walking
- 54:09Speaker 4: in like you know those vibes, like we're all professionals,
- 54:12Speaker 4: and it's like, how are that we this wildly inconsistent?
- 54:16Speaker 1: Right, they're the number one team in the NFL. That
- 54:18Speaker 1: reminds me of a college football team. And when it
- 54:19Speaker 1: comes inconsistencies, yeah, like all the boys went out last night,
- 54:22Speaker 1: like like guice, you're you're paid professionals. We can't have
- 54:25Speaker 1: this big of a drop off.
- 54:27Speaker 9: I'll tell you what I don't like though. I don't
- 54:28Speaker 9: like all the pistol.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, well I don't.
- 54:32Speaker 9: Like pistol zone. I like pistol counter, I like pistol
- 54:35Speaker 9: pin and pull like, I think pistol is nice because
- 54:38Speaker 9: if you are going to be primarily a gun team,
- 54:40Speaker 9: which they are, especially with Pennix. I again, I didn't
- 54:43Speaker 9: see much of the game yesterday. Did they change much
- 54:45Speaker 9: with I know with with Cousins playing, I'm not sure,
- 54:47Speaker 9: but prior they had been so pistol heavy, gun heavy,
- 54:50Speaker 9: and I get why you don't want to just be
- 54:52Speaker 9: single back, run off, set back, and it gets very
- 54:55Speaker 9: telling where you're going with your zone stuff. So I
- 54:57Speaker 9: get the pistol idea. I don't I think the angles
- 55:00Speaker 9: are good. I don't think the play action is good.
- 55:03Speaker 9: I don't think it has nearly the benefits that outside
- 55:06Speaker 9: inside zone have from under center. I think that's a
- 55:11Speaker 9: part of the issue in the NFL. I just don't
- 55:13Speaker 9: think the angles front side. I think it gets really wide,
- 55:16Speaker 9: it gets really strung out. Yeah, So I again not
- 55:20Speaker 9: to get into super football in the weeds. I just
- 55:23Speaker 9: think being so exclusively pistol makes everything else a little
- 55:26Speaker 9: bit of a challenge.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Now, I dide I agree with you, And darro Lovski
- 55:29Speaker 1: talks about this all the time. He's like, his big
- 55:31Speaker 1: trend this year is we need to make football under
- 55:34Speaker 1: center again. That's like kind of like what he wants.
- 55:36Speaker 9: And everybody's doing it.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I completely agree with getting under the center snapping the
- 55:40Speaker 1: ball because when the quarterbacks back is turned and obviously
- 55:44Speaker 1: like it's going to help the play action pass so
- 55:46Speaker 1: much more. Which is what you need against these like
- 55:48Speaker 1: super exotic defenses nowadays, is you need guys to kind
- 55:52Speaker 1: of get up so these zone windows are more open
- 55:54Speaker 1: behind them. And when you're in the pistol, it's a
- 55:57Speaker 1: quick little turn to the side and there's nothing like
- 55:59Speaker 1: the tip about it to where it makes And you
- 56:01Speaker 1: could speak on this well from a linebacker's perspective. If
- 56:04Speaker 1: you're in the gun and he's just kind of turning
- 56:06Speaker 1: and then goes into setup, it's like there's nothing giving
- 56:08Speaker 1: you like, oh, I got to get down that gap
- 56:10Speaker 1: to stop the run. Yeah, correct, And saying that.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you can transfer, You're able to transfer your eyes
- 56:14Speaker 4: quicker and you feel like play action and everything else.
- 56:18Speaker 4: If you're under center and they're pressing the gap, you're
- 56:21Speaker 4: gonna take that extra step as a backer to whereas
- 56:23Speaker 4: a pistol everything kind of unfolds a little bit quicker
- 56:26Speaker 4: for you.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, it just but that being said, the
- 56:30Speaker 1: Falcons if I'm a betting man, which I am, I'm
- 56:33Speaker 1: staying away from the Falcons the rest of the year.
- 56:35Speaker 1: You just have no idea what you're gonna get. Like
- 56:36Speaker 1: if I'm going to go in the FanDuel sportsbook gap
- 56:39Speaker 1: and I'm not even gonna look at the Falcons logo anymore.
- 56:41Speaker 1: It's it's terrifying. It's probably the scariest team to bet on.
- 56:44Speaker 1: But the game we almost started talking about was the
- 56:46Speaker 1: game you called, and I want you to break down
- 56:49Speaker 1: Bill's Panthers a little bit short drive for you. That's
- 56:52Speaker 1: where you played your career at I'm sure like when
- 56:54Speaker 1: you're calling these games, you're thinking, you know, you want
- 56:57Speaker 1: to be as unbiased as possible. There's probably a piec
- 56:59Speaker 1: of you. It's like, man, I really hope and Andy
- 57:01Speaker 1: Dalton can step in for Bryce on here and they can,
- 57:03Speaker 1: you know, keep this home win streak alive and the
- 57:05Speaker 1: Bills come off as by and just absolutely dominate all phases.
- 57:08Speaker 1: James Cook has two hundred and fifteen yards on nineteen
- 57:11Speaker 1: carries and two touchdowns. Like the defense stood up in
- 57:13Speaker 1: a big way. It was it was obviously an extremely
- 57:15Speaker 1: dominant performance across the board in all three phases for
- 57:18Speaker 1: the Bills.
- 57:19Speaker 2: What did you use?
- 57:19Speaker 1: What was your biggest takeaway from those games?
- 57:21Speaker 4: Before you answer that, how the fuck did the Jets
- 57:24Speaker 4: win always get that much closer to getting in the game? Yeah,
- 57:34Speaker 4: what the hell happened?
- 57:37Speaker 1: I think you know, we're gonna stay focused.
- 57:41Speaker 9: You're coming off the wedding, yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 57:43Speaker 9: a lot on your mind. Let's stay locked in. Yeah,
- 57:45Speaker 9: me and Taylor will keep this on track. You just
- 57:48Speaker 9: you're just hanging there.
- 57:49Speaker 1: Yeah, rocky out there, but they had a couple too
- 57:51Speaker 1: many times rain jacket.
- 57:53Speaker 4: This is a rocky boy, This is a rocky you know.
- 57:57Speaker 9: So it's actually fine. So what we were just talking
- 57:59Speaker 9: about with the under center stuff, when you watch Buffalo,
- 58:03Speaker 9: the Buffalo, we all remember of years ago of Josh
- 58:06Speaker 9: being in you know, Josh Allen being in the gun
- 58:08Speaker 9: and every ball being in his hand and it's dropped
- 58:10Speaker 9: back pass and it's They have made a pretty remarkable
- 58:14Speaker 9: transformation to a heavy under center, run, first mix in
- 58:20Speaker 9: play action, run dominant offense, and it's been very intentional.
- 58:25Speaker 9: I don't think their outside weapons are like traditional X.
- 58:29Speaker 9: You know, they don't have like a traditional X receiver.
- 58:31Speaker 9: That's gonna work, you know, the deeper zones and go up.
- 58:33Speaker 9: I think Kean Coleman, they're still trying to get him going.
- 58:36Speaker 9: It's a lot of quick, quick passes, a lot of
- 58:38Speaker 9: run after catch, Khalil Shakir, you know, guys trying to
- 58:41Speaker 9: you know, Kinkaid trying to get the ball in guy's
- 58:43Speaker 9: hands and run after But yesterday it was just all
- 58:46Speaker 9: about the run game. I mean, James Cook was incredible.
- 58:50Speaker 9: He had like one hundred and thirty five yards after
- 58:52Speaker 9: contact at I mean before contact at halftime. I mean
- 58:57Speaker 9: he was he was ten fifteen yards into the teeth
- 59:00Speaker 9: of what was a very good run defense in Carolina.
- 59:04Speaker 9: He was ten ten twelve yards into their defensive second
- 59:08Speaker 9: level before he was even being touched. You know, he
- 59:10Speaker 9: broke a forty some fifty yard I can't remember exactly
- 59:14Speaker 9: how fart was in the first half. He was incredible.
- 59:18Speaker 9: The offensive line was great. So it was funny we're
- 59:21Speaker 9: calling a game with Josh Allen and he's arguably the
- 59:23Speaker 9: best player in the world and of course the reigning MVP.
- 59:26Speaker 9: And he made some good throws. He made a couple
- 59:28Speaker 9: typical Josh Allen scramble, drill, keep the play alive and
- 59:32Speaker 9: get a conversion down, but like he was a pretty
- 59:35Speaker 9: non factor, which I said at the end of the game.
- 59:38Speaker 9: If I'm a Bills fan and I'm the Bills, I'm
- 59:42Speaker 9: wildly encouraged by the fact that the best player in
- 59:46Speaker 9: the league, potentially if not the top two or three,
- 59:49Speaker 9: we were able to put up a forty spot be
- 59:51Speaker 9: utterly dominant the entire game, and our best player had
- 59:56Speaker 9: a much less impact than what we're accustomed to seeing.
- 59:59Speaker 9: I think that's high encouraging because we all know come
- 1:00:02Speaker 9: the end of the year, come playoff time, there's gonna
- 1:00:04Speaker 9: be some Superman moments where it's gonna be all right, Josh,
- 1:00:07Speaker 9: the days are just you lining up under center handing
- 1:00:09Speaker 9: it to James Cook, like we need you to be
- 1:00:11Speaker 9: Josh Allen, we need you to be the MVP, and
- 1:00:13Speaker 9: we're gonna let you go roll designed quarterback, run, scramble,
- 1:00:18Speaker 9: obviously pushing the ball downfield like those days are coming
- 1:00:21Speaker 9: for them to be as good as they were offensively,
- 1:00:25Speaker 9: and now say, okay, that's not even with Josh Allen
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: being Josh Allen is I think it's scary. I think
- 1:00:31Speaker 9: that's the recipe they want to be in the regular season.
- 1:00:33Speaker 9: I think that's the recipe they think gets them over
- 1:00:36Speaker 9: the hump. In the playoffs, defense was much better. Took
- 1:00:39Speaker 9: took the ball away four times, one down to like
- 1:00:43Speaker 9: the one yard line. Ajpanessa had an incredible tipped interception
- 1:00:47Speaker 9: on a like a little tunnel screen, hit him in
- 1:00:49Speaker 9: the hands, caught it, took it down to the one
- 1:00:52Speaker 9: to set up a touchdown before the half. So it
- 1:00:54Speaker 9: was a overall Buffalo dominant performance.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: The the whole. Josh Allen's got to be great. That
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: is coming. I'm assuming in the next week is they're
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: gonna have to play the Chiefs. I don't know if
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: it's at the Chiefs or at the Bills, but the
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Chiefs played a night on monning at football, so I
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: think they'll have to look at Josh Allen be like, hey,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: now you have to be this raining MVP, top three
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: player in the NFL. But this is a This is
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: a Will Compton after the Atlanta Falcons game, which is
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: a big brain move by him by getting us to
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: talk about that game. First is I asked him to say, hey,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: what do you think happening? He goes, bro they got
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: away from the run way too quick. And just try
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: to make Josh do everything. In that Falcons game, they
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: go over the buye after that, and it seemed like
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: they were in Will Compton's head where they're like, hey,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: let's run the ball till we can't type of situation,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: get under center and utilize the play action.
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: So, especially if you got like the Bills question Will, like,
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: I know they're in the conversation, are they going to
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: go pick up like a defensive player? Like, they're pretty
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: light in the ass at the second level, Like when
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: you see them against the Falcons are a good run
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: team that gets you going sideways. That is where their
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: weakness is. I love that they had takeaways, but an
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: example of that too is you look at the Bears.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: The Bears were like number one in the league at takeaways,
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: and then you go and play against a team who
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: ends up taking care of the football that game and
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: when those weaknesses start to show itself. What fires me
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: up about the Bills is if you're winning the football game,
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: especially under center in the run game with James Cook,
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: you're gonna be able to control the clock more, You're
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: gonna be able to sustain drives longer. But if you
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: do get that shootout. If you do get in those
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: high scoring matches against good offenses, that's where I get
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: nervous because I feel like they're front seven has been
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: a little questionable when it comes to stopping the run
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: and everything else, because you can't just assume they're gonna
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: take the ball away, you know what I mean. If
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: you're leaning on that, I know, that's like you know,
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: some momentum, once you get hot, it starts to happen,
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: you start taking the football away. But if you're just
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: leaning on that, I feel like those weaknesses in late
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: season football will start to rear its ugly head if
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: you know, if they don't go and get somebody on defense,
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: or if they just don't consistently eat weekend and week out,
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: start taking care of these things defensively where they do
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: where they have had question marks. So I am like,
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: I'm fired up that they ran the ball a lot
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: more with James Cook. I think this is an offense
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: that you get going and when they're not getting touched,
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: you know they're getting into the second level of the defense.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: My only reminder and experience is the Tennessee Tights. When
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: Derrick Henry gets going in your football really well, and
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: then when Josh Allen makes a playoff of it's like,
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: oh shit, they also have Josh Allen the running MVP.
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: But I know, for me, not not watching them defensively
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: against the Panthers, for me, my whole question mark was, Man,
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: they just don't They don't seem like their defense is
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: going to match the offense unless they're living under center
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: and they can keep them kind of off the field.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Yeah, the impressive thing about the Bills defense in this
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: game was not just the turnovers, but I mean, Panthers,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: their bread and butter is running duo, running gaps game,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: double teaming the doubt and getting into the getting into
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: the meat of the secondary between the both the tackles,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: and I hought they did a great job in that game,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Like they did a good job of stuffing the run,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: making them pass, causing turnovers.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: Because of it, Chiefs.
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: Will be a great benchmark for him because Chiefs are
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: playing fantastic, They're playing great, and they obviously put a night.
- 1:03:59Speaker 9: But one last thing, because what you guys are saying
- 1:04:01Speaker 9: is the real teeth of the conversation that I think
- 1:04:04Speaker 9: sometimes people ignore the ability. So we'll just take Buffalo
- 1:04:09Speaker 9: since we're obviously talking about them. Their ability to play
- 1:04:12Speaker 9: run defense obviously has been a conversation going into that
- 1:04:16Speaker 9: Panther game. The run defense was historically bad. They were
- 1:04:19Speaker 9: giving up chunk plays at a record rate, giving up
- 1:04:22Speaker 9: a lot of yards before and after contact. The tackling
- 1:04:25Speaker 9: like that was everything Buffalo was talking about addressing at
- 1:04:29Speaker 9: the bye week right down into the Panther game. But
- 1:04:31Speaker 9: the part everyone has to realize is, if you want
- 1:04:34Speaker 9: to get better at run defense, just score a lot
- 1:04:38Speaker 9: more points on offense. Right, Like, your ability to mask
- 1:04:41Speaker 9: one side of the ball or the other is less
- 1:04:44Speaker 9: about just improving that phase of your team and more
- 1:04:47Speaker 9: about phasing the complementary piece on the other side of
- 1:04:50Speaker 9: the ball. So if you're a team that really struggles
- 1:04:53Speaker 9: running the ball, you've got to make this a shootout.
- 1:04:55Speaker 9: You've got to have an offense that can generate points,
- 1:04:57Speaker 9: finish drives and then yes, if you get take and
- 1:05:00Speaker 9: that can also mask some of those issues. But all
- 1:05:03Speaker 9: of a sudden, you get into a slugfest and you
- 1:05:05Speaker 9: get into a game where maybe you're not finishing, you're
- 1:05:08Speaker 9: kicking a lot of field goals. Maybe your run game
- 1:05:10Speaker 9: is going into a tough matchup up front, you just
- 1:05:13Speaker 9: can't get anything going. That's where Josh Allen, that's where
- 1:05:16Speaker 9: having the best player in the league now they get
- 1:05:18Speaker 9: untapped in and say, all right, Josh, it's time now
- 1:05:20Speaker 9: to put this game on your back, because we don't
- 1:05:23Speaker 9: want to be in a fourteen to ten second half
- 1:05:25Speaker 9: game when a team could just run the ball at
- 1:05:27Speaker 9: us thirty times. So that's kind of the back and forth.
- 1:05:31Speaker 9: That's the cat and mouse game. And that's why having
- 1:05:34Speaker 9: ultimately Josh Allen as your quarterback, even if right now
- 1:05:37Speaker 9: you want to be a heavy run team, there is
- 1:05:39Speaker 9: gonna be a time where Josh is gonna have to
- 1:05:42Speaker 9: take the game over because they're not built defensively to
- 1:05:47Speaker 9: play a thirty attempt run game in a low scoring battle.
- 1:05:50Speaker 9: They have not shown that that's the strength. And at
- 1:05:52Speaker 9: Oliver goes out to injury with a byseep yesterday, hoping
- 1:05:56Speaker 9: it's not as bad as it looked. He did not return. So, Yeah,
- 1:06:00Speaker 9: little light up front, little light on the second and
- 1:06:02Speaker 9: third level. I don't know if that's the type of
- 1:06:04Speaker 9: game they want to make a you know they want
- 1:06:06Speaker 9: to major in.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Yeah, the game, the game coming up against the Chiefs
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: is massive because Obviously, when you win the division, you
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: play the best best teams in all the other divisions.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: And the Patriots, who get what they were fourth last
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: year in the division AFC East, I believe, so four
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: to third, they were not great. They they're in a
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: six game winning streak right now. They just took arguably
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: one of the best defenses in all of the NFL
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: and put thirty two on them Drake May two eighty two,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: three touchdowns. So they have to get their ass going,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: like there is no if you want to win the division,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: you want to end this year with possibly a bye,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: you got to win out broh.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: Because the Patriots are in a great spot. And I'm
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: I'm curious too to dive into all their second ha
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: statistics because they seem like a team that's adjusted really
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: well at halftime, because I want to say, just checking
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: the side coaching. Yeah, it seemed like it was close
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: going into halftime. And then obviously, like Drake May, he's
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: one of the best quarterbacks right now in the NFL.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: And the Patriots are just a team and they have
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: the schedule like they could win. I feel like they're
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: going to win the AFC East.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Yeah, their schedule definitely sets them up for sure. They
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: have Drake May perfect passing rating over twenty yards. He's
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: bawling out right now. And it did get Harry for
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: a second. Like you know, the the rookie what's his name,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Will Campbell? Will Campbell, he had himself a tough day
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: against Miles Garrett. People said he give up five sacks.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: This is not he didn't give up all five sacks.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: When they were showing the highlights, there was a couple
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: on the right tackle as well. I know that personally
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: that that's something I want to defend for my boy,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Will K Taylor.
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: Taylor sees five sacks in a game, and I really
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: went back and watched all us.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: It wasn't all Will Campbell. Okay, also Drake me gotta
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: get the ball it a couple of times there. But yeah,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: this team. You see Miles Garrett, he's frustrated. He gheits
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: five sacks in the game and he's still slamming his
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: helmet on the sideline because their team just cannot win
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: games even though he's being superman out there. But these Patriots, dude,
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: have you were you able to watch the game at all?
- 1:07:59Speaker 9: I saw some of the high I saw some of
- 1:08:00Speaker 9: the clips. I went back. I try to, you know,
- 1:08:03Speaker 9: after my game's over, if it's not in the late
- 1:08:05Speaker 9: window and I'm home to watch the late window, I
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: try to just go and just at least familiarize myself with,
- 1:08:12Speaker 9: you know, the matchups and who played well, and take
- 1:08:14Speaker 9: a look at the box score in the highlights and
- 1:08:16Speaker 9: try to get some context. You know, I think the
- 1:08:18Speaker 9: Miles Garrett thing is going to be a storyline all year.
- 1:08:21Speaker 9: I think, you know, you go back to that, you know,
- 1:08:23Speaker 9: I think he goes back to that decision in the
- 1:08:25Speaker 9: summer where he made it pretty clear that he wanted
- 1:08:27Speaker 9: to be out, that he wanted to go somewhere else,
- 1:08:29Speaker 9: and then obviously they threw a ton of money at
- 1:08:31Speaker 9: him and he signed up for it.
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:08:33Speaker 9: You signed up knowing you had some questions that quarterback,
- 1:08:37Speaker 9: You had some questions in a lot of different areas.
- 1:08:39Speaker 9: The defense was gonna be good, you knew that. But
- 1:08:42Speaker 9: the reality is, in the regular season, offense is where
- 1:08:45Speaker 9: you're gonna win. Right, Offense is going to drive it,
- 1:08:47Speaker 9: and then defense will kind of tip the scales a
- 1:08:49Speaker 9: little bit more. Once we just get all the bad
- 1:08:51Speaker 9: teams out in the playoffs, and defense seems to have
- 1:08:54Speaker 9: a lot more correlation to advancing in the playoffs than
- 1:08:56Speaker 9: it does in the regular season, so he kind of
- 1:08:59Speaker 9: knew what you signed up for. He is incredible. I
- 1:09:01Speaker 9: think he's going to make a lot of offensive lineman
- 1:09:03Speaker 9: looks stupid. I don't think it's the young rookie from
- 1:09:06Speaker 9: New England. I don't think it's unique to him. But yeah,
- 1:09:09Speaker 9: they've got serious issues, especially offensively. They got a lot
- 1:09:12Speaker 9: of lot more questions than answers. But Drake May, I
- 1:09:16Speaker 9: mean he's in the MVP conversation, and I think what's
- 1:09:19Speaker 9: so cool about this year is the MVP conversation through
- 1:09:21Speaker 9: week eight is really a bunch of It's not the
- 1:09:26Speaker 9: typical Josh Allen's and mahomes as good as they are,
- 1:09:29Speaker 9: and maybe by the year end they will be the
- 1:09:30Speaker 9: last one standing. But like Daniel Jones, Drake May, I
- 1:09:35Speaker 9: think Jordan Love has been incredible. I mean, this next
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: kind of crop of young quarterbacks is playing incredible ball
- 1:09:42Speaker 9: through call it the first half the season. I think
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: that's what's made this season so fun to follow as
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: just a football fan.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield as well, but he didn't have the best
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Baker Baker, Baker, Sammy Donald, Sammy Donald, Yeah, those bunch
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: of them.
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: It's funny because like mahone, he's playing, he's playing incredible.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: He'll he'll be in the conversation.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: But just taking that crop you listed where it was
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: like whether it's Baker Mayfield, Danny Dime, Sam Darnold, Drake
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: may if those four, if their names were all these
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: upper tier guys like the Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson,
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: if those guys are having the season that these young
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: cats are having that were naming, nobody else would be
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: in the conversation. It would just be those three to
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: four guys. But no matter what, we're always gonna hang
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: on to even even if Lamar pops off at the
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: back of the season, He'll still be in the conversation. Yeah, Like,
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: you'll still give these guys chances to be in the
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: conversation even though they're not having the season that these
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: other guys are having.
- 1:10:39Speaker 9: Right and talking about Lamar. As bad as things have
- 1:10:42Speaker 9: looked for Baltimore, buddy, they're gonna get Lamar back at
- 1:10:47Speaker 9: some point and obviously that changes everything. That win yesterday
- 1:10:52Speaker 9: now obviously only their second, but with the way that
- 1:10:54Speaker 9: AFC North Division is shaping up. It seems like Steelers
- 1:10:59Speaker 9: can't run away with it. They haven't been able to
- 1:11:00Speaker 9: run away with it. They lose last night to Green Bay.
- 1:11:04Speaker 9: I think it seems like the world is coming to
- 1:11:06Speaker 9: an end in Baltimore. They're two games back and the
- 1:11:09Speaker 9: idea being that you have to imagine Lamar is probably
- 1:11:11Speaker 9: back this week, if not the following. So as bad
- 1:11:14Speaker 9: as things have started, you have sometimes the benefit of
- 1:11:17Speaker 9: being in a bad division. I've been there. I won
- 1:11:19Speaker 9: a division one time in the NFC South that we
- 1:11:22Speaker 9: went seven to eight and one and we won the
- 1:11:24Speaker 9: division and hosted a playoff game. Like sometimes the nature
- 1:11:28Speaker 9: of the league is your division stinks and you have
- 1:11:30Speaker 9: a little bit more margin for error, So don't I'm
- 1:11:34Speaker 9: not completely out on Baltimore, even though things have looked
- 1:11:37Speaker 9: really bad, and obviously Lamar's return is a big part
- 1:11:40Speaker 9: of me.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Yeah, just going off of that game, I think this
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: is a bigger win for the Ravens than people even realize,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: because is where the Bears done so great is they
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: played great defense, they get in takeaways, and they've ran
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: the ball incredibly well. Where the Ravens have really struggled
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: to go back to that Lions game. Make those two
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: running backs for the Lions were running all over the
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: Ravens and you get Rokwan Smith back, you at Kyle
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: van Noi back and their defense, I mean Kyle Hamilton, dude,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: he is absolutely incredible. They were able to stop the
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: run pretty consistently. And I start a cool uh maybe
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: not cool staff for Caleb Williams. But first quarter the
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: Bears are plus twenty two in their point differential and
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: Caleb Williams is throwing out seventy one percent quarters two
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: through four, Caleb is like fifty one percent?
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah was that?
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: So it just shows was that our boy coward that
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: you're popping on coward as well? But yeah, it just
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: seems like when they're on script. Ben Johnson he is
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: play calling is great, he does everything, he does everything
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: the way he wants, but then his quarterback looks at
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: the first or second read and then he just wants
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: to run for his life. When I think that, Ben
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Johnson's like, really not about that. But their defense has
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: played really well. And for Tyler Huntley, Tyler Huntley for
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: him to be twelve or thirteen after the first half
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: is awesome, so they keep getting healthy. The Steelers, they
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: probably should have lost this game against the Packers. I
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: think everybody thought that was gonna happen, but the Bank
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: was the week prior to that. It's like, that's a
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: wide open division right now between those two teams. And
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: I think the Ravens come back and win it now.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: They had a chance to put it away with even
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: that Bengals win the Bengals game.
- 1:13:12Speaker 9: The Bengals game losing losingto the Packers. I think the
- 1:13:14Speaker 9: Packers are good. I think Jordan Love is good. I
- 1:13:18Speaker 9: think that's a young team, They're super talented. Craft was insane.
- 1:13:23Speaker 9: I mean he looked like the best player on the field.
- 1:13:27Speaker 9: I got Green Bay this week. They I go to
- 1:13:30Speaker 9: Lambeau this week. I got them hosting the Panthers. So
- 1:13:33Speaker 9: that will see how that goes.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: But we know how that'll go.
- 1:13:37Speaker 9: That's gonna be tough.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be a tough one. It's gonna be
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: a tough one for the Panthers.
- 1:13:40Speaker 9: That's gonna be yeah. But yeah, that the for the Steelers,
- 1:13:45Speaker 9: that game against Flacco and the Bengals, and Mike Tomlin
- 1:13:49Speaker 9: called it, I mean Mike Tomlin was like, I don't
- 1:13:51Speaker 9: know what the Browns are thinking. They must be smarter
- 1:13:54Speaker 9: than the rest of us, But they send a guy
- 1:13:55Speaker 9: that was the week one starter to an inn an
- 1:13:57Speaker 9: in division rival that is reeling at the position and
- 1:14:01Speaker 9: giving them fresh life, and now they the first game
- 1:14:05Speaker 9: he beats, He beats, you know, he beats the Steilers,
- 1:14:08Speaker 9: and Tomlin looks like a genius. And then obviously they
- 1:14:11Speaker 9: lose to the Jets, but he scored thirty eight. Yeah,
- 1:14:14Speaker 9: so he's definitely given the Bengals a little bit of life. Defensively,
- 1:14:17Speaker 9: they're still struggle bust there in Cincinnati.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: No dude, the Jets getting their first win to me.
- 1:14:24Speaker 9: Who would have thought they were gonna score thirty nine points.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: Right, Yeah? And that's what sucks too, is because we
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: all we've all kind of, like said, the Bengals defense
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: is horrendous, but like it's kind of been masked and
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: the quarterback play has gone a whole lot better. So
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: it's kind of quiet down. But you lose to a
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Jets who's won zero games, it tells me two things. One,
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: the Bengals are as bad as we thought they were
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: on defense, and two we stayed in Nashville, Tennessee. I
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: think we're looking at the least competitive NFL football team
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: in the NFL right now, and that is the Tennessee
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Titans because of it. And it's just it sucks to
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: say because that's where I played my career at. But
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: we had a whole lot to figure out over there.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Yea Eagles, Yeah, we've all. Hey, budd it, we've all.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: We've all had some tough times. It makes the good
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: times that much better. Uh, Eagles are back, dude.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: I listen Sae Kwan, he's on my fantasy football team.
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: See him put up north of thirty and seeing him,
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: what did he have? Like over one hundred yards, a couple.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: One hundred and fifty and a touchdown on the ground,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: one through the air, twenty four. Uh. Receiving as well.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Hurt is growing. Jalen Hurts. He gets four touchdowns.
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: Four touchdown.
- 1:15:28Speaker 9: Yeah, he didn't throw for a lot of yards, but
- 1:15:30Speaker 9: he threw four touchdowns, which was super efficient. I think
- 1:15:33Speaker 9: Saquon popped off the second play of the game.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's dude. That has been a trend of theirs.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: If you pop on like the first series of every
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: one of their games. Like they run the ball very effectively,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: and then.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Sakuon looks like he's gonna have a game yeah, and
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: then all of.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: A sudden, they like change their run game and it
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: doesn't work out. I haven't gone back and washing the film.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: I just saw it live, but it seemed like they
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: kind of stuck with the same type of run plan
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: as they did in the first series as supposed to
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: going like to a bunch of different kind of run
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: type of schemes, and it worked out well for them.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: They're off its line obviously. Seemed like they play played
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: a whole lot better. Cam Skataboo r I p the
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: boy dude like the heart and soul of the giants,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: like I don't want to We're not gonna be massive takes.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: But the giants are dead like they're they're not. It's
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: over for them.
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: I saw the I just saw the group chats firing up.
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: I saw you know, Clump, He's like eagles are bags,
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: say kwan, YadA YadA. Then I see the cam Skataboo
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: post and it's like, dude, take my leg right, take
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: from my body.
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: Him put his hands up to his teeth like to
- 1:16:37Speaker 9: his buddy, like he like with the instinct of like, hey,
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: help me up, and everyone was like no, man, like,
- 1:16:43Speaker 9: we're gonna stay right where we are to get you
- 1:16:46Speaker 9: to your help. Like his instinct was like I gotta
- 1:16:49Speaker 9: get up. Yeah, he like put his hands up in
- 1:16:51Speaker 9: the air for someone to like lift them off the ground.
- 1:16:52Speaker 9: I think his teammates were like, sorry, brother, but yeah,
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: there's an have to kind.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Of Yeah, if you're seeing what I'm seeing, you're gonna.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: There's always at once one offensive lineman that's like, please
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: don't get him out of here, because everyone it's all. Dude,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: when you see that, I'm sure you've seen it during
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: a game when you were playing, Like, dude, it is
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: mentally torturous. I mean you hate it for that who
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: what happens to the guy? But the next five or
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: six plays, if you're able to sustain a drive is
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: like everyone, even the defense is like, hey, let's all
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: kind of look out for each other a little bit,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: isn't it weird? Like a weird little like we got
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: to make sure everyone's good here.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: We can really get fucked up in this game.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Yeah, we do. We were playing the Dolphins.
- 1:17:32Speaker 9: Doesn't matter if your teammate the other team, for a
- 1:17:36Speaker 9: moment there. It doesn't matter what team it is, it's
- 1:17:38Speaker 9: just everyone is having a collective like this is awful.
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we were playing the Panthers and one of it,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: it was late in the game, y'all were blowing us
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: out and I was playing against Jared Allen and one
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: of the receivers went off from the corner of the
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: sideline had like an inkle dislocation. Jared and I kind
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: of sat there the next three plays. He's like, I'll
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: tell you if someone's behind you, and I was like, bro,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: thank you. So we got hemmed up, and there was
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: one play we got hemmed up and he kind of
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: stonewalled me a little bit, goes and we kind of
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: like shifted together for a little bit. It's like that
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: is really the mental thing for everybody if that as
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: like once you see everything, you know, the health issues,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: it's crazy because good news is it looked like a
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: straight up just a dislocation because it was right there
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: at the bottom of that bone middle hit his leg,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: like the middle of his leg was facing the wrong way.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: But yeah, that's that's the heart and soul of the Giants.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: I think Dabile saves it saved his job for sure,
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: seeing this this boost of energy, and he should keep
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: his job. But uh, that was tough. The Eagles, however,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: the Eagles are for real. Now they're for real.
- 1:18:37Speaker 9: I called so, I mean their ability offensively. I always
- 1:18:41Speaker 9: thought defensively they'd find their way. I think Fangio's really good.
- 1:18:43Speaker 9: I think they had some issues on the edge that
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: they're still trying to work through. But I think defensively
- 1:18:48Speaker 9: they were always going to end up being good and
- 1:18:49Speaker 9: figuring it out. I know they had a couple of
- 1:18:51Speaker 9: games here and there, obviously the Giants game being the
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: one couple of weeks ago. But offensively, I saw them
- 1:18:58Speaker 9: at I saw them against Minnesota last week, and Hurts
- 1:19:02Speaker 9: played probably the best game that we've seen him play
- 1:19:05Speaker 9: in a really long time. I mean, he was pushing
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: the ball downfield, he was accurate, he was buying time
- 1:19:10Speaker 9: with his legs like Saquon in the run game was
- 1:19:12Speaker 9: a pretty non factor against the Vikings and Janalen Hurts
- 1:19:16Speaker 9: was awesome. And now this week Saquon gets off, he
- 1:19:20Speaker 9: goes for one point fifty, getting back to those early
- 1:19:22Speaker 9: explosive runs for touchdowns that really powered their Super Bowl
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: run last year, where he's running for sixty and seventy
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: yard touchdowns. The defense has taking the ball away. Now
- 1:19:31Speaker 9: you get hurts in the passing game back going thrown
- 1:19:33Speaker 9: for four They're never going to be a consistently high
- 1:19:36Speaker 9: volume passing game from a sense of like pure yardage.
- 1:19:40Speaker 9: They'll pop off every now and then. Obviously he did
- 1:19:42Speaker 9: against Minnesota, but four touchdowns, I don't even think he threw.
- 1:19:46Speaker 9: Did he throw for over two hundred yards? I don't
- 1:19:48Speaker 9: think he did.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: No, he threw for a one seventy nine.
- 1:19:51Speaker 9: Yeah, shit, But obviously you get Saquon. They've always been
- 1:19:56Speaker 9: I've always said they're the hardest beat in the league
- 1:19:59Speaker 9: because they can beat you in so many different ways. Defensively,
- 1:20:02Speaker 9: they can take the ball away, they've got fourth down,
- 1:20:04Speaker 9: they can pass, throw skill roster like I just I
- 1:20:09Speaker 9: don't know why people are so quick to jump off
- 1:20:11Speaker 9: their bandwagon. It seems like every year and then it's
- 1:20:14Speaker 9: just by the end of the year, they're the team
- 1:20:16Speaker 9: to beat in the NFC for all those different factors.
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: You think they're the team to beat in the NFC
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: because I feel you like Eagles. To me, I'm not
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: willing to say. I'm not convinced enough to say that
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: they're back, that they're the team to beat.
- 1:20:29Speaker 9: Because who's the team to beat in the NFC?
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: In your mind, I think it's the Lions.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: I think the Lions. Lions are playing good. You got
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: the Lions, You've got the Packers.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: You know, I'm not sold in the Packers.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 1:20:42Speaker 9: I like the Packers Seattle to the Rams. I think, Yeah,
- 1:20:49Speaker 9: I had the I had the Rams Philly game. Uh
- 1:20:52Speaker 9: week I don't know, God, I can't remember now, like
- 1:20:54Speaker 9: week two or three. Yeah, and the first half of
- 1:20:59Speaker 9: the game they couldn't score a touchdown. It was a
- 1:21:01Speaker 9: red zone field goal contest. And then Jalen Hurts came
- 1:21:04Speaker 9: to life in the second half with AJ Brown and
- 1:21:06Speaker 9: they came back and won. And that's when Jordan Davis
- 1:21:10Speaker 9: blocked that field goal and took it back as the wall.
- 1:21:12Speaker 9: You know, not a walk off, but like the last
- 1:21:13Speaker 9: play of the game, I feel it. Yeah, I think
- 1:21:17Speaker 9: all those teams are good. I think the Philly. Philly
- 1:21:21Speaker 9: just has that pedigree right now. Right They're used to winning,
- 1:21:23Speaker 9: They're used to winning those close games. They can they
- 1:21:26Speaker 9: could play a lot of different formulas. If their offense
- 1:21:29Speaker 9: isn't great, they can get picked up defensively if Jalen's
- 1:21:32Speaker 9: having a bad day, Saquon, if Saquon can't get rolling.
- 1:21:35Speaker 9: They got the receivers, and like the offensive line, can
- 1:21:38Speaker 9: they stay healthy and get healthy? And now Dickerson, like
- 1:21:42Speaker 9: they got I think the best tackle combo in the league, Tyler.
- 1:21:45Speaker 9: I love your perspective, Like I think Lane and my
- 1:21:48Speaker 9: Lotta are the best combination to duo in the league. Like,
- 1:21:52Speaker 9: they just got so many different things they can hang
- 1:21:54Speaker 9: their hat on. They don't have to play perfectly to win.
- 1:21:58Speaker 9: I think we've seen that over the last two years.
- 1:22:00Speaker 9: Those teams seem to do well in those one, you know, winner,
- 1:22:04Speaker 9: you're out kind of situations. They're not best of five series.
- 1:22:07Speaker 9: You got to win one game, and they're really tough
- 1:22:10Speaker 9: to beat.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Yeah, when it comes to the tackles, I haven't been
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: able to watch him break down this film just yet,
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: so I'll save my opinion on this on this pass game.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: But the couple weeks prior to that, with the offensive line,
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: when it came to the run game, it was like
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: one guy here or there, and especially during the vikings,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: like my Alata had himself a couple of times being
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: at the point of the run game. He was having
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: a very difficult time guys going inside, moving around like
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: he wasn't moving his feet very consistently, and then laying
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: on the backside of a lot of plays. He was
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: kind of he wasn't getting that cut off the way
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: you usually see him. He had to go get savvy,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: get a couple of those reach around blocks. The duo
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: to me right now that is like number one in
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: the NFL is Pina Suwel and Taylor Decker. And that's
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: kind of what keeps me leaning towards the Lions is
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: they had a tough game a couple of weeks ago
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: against the Chiefs. It was last week or two weeks ago,
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: but from a defensive stand point, now was a couple
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: weeks ago because they played the Buccaneers right last week
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: played the Bucks and they had every single guy and
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: their defensive secondary, their starters were out and their secondary played,
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: and they pretty much shut down Baker Mayfield and their
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: and their offensive the wide receivers. And I just think
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: something about that under center Jared Goff throwing on time
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: play action pass like with both those running backs. That team,
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: to me, along with their culture when things don't go
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: their way. They don't waiver. That is a team that
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: I can see winning it all, or let the very
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: least winning the NFC and making to the Zuer Bowl
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: this year. When it comes to Eagles, it's like you
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: see it, you see it here and there, like, Okay,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: the run game wasn't great, but the defense stepped up.
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts has a game a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: and then this is this is the first week I've
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: seen it where it's like, Okay, this looks like a
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: championship caliber team. Now we have to see it more
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: consistently for it all get done. But it just seems
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: like one or two things here and there. I think
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: after after seeing this game, Lions.
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: Got the run game.
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: They got, they got the play calling, They got a
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: quarterback that can win you this See Bowl. They got
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: they can take you through the air, on the ground.
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: Their defense is very salty. Their front seven h Hutchinson.
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: And then we'll just get after your ask him. Does
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: Hutchinson lead the league in uh in pressures?
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: I think he No. I think Garrett leads the league
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: and pressure or Benito leads the league pressures. Hudginson has
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: had a sacking of pressure in every single game.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: Dude, he gets after people.
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: It's just the backs, like the way the decordinator Kelvin
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: Sheppard has those guys playing, especially when you have a
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: full backup squad in there in the secondary. I just
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: feel like they're the more complete team. That looks like
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: an operation in a machine. They did drop against the Chiefs,
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: but that game the Chiefs had against the Lions, like
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: that was that was potentially a preview of the Super Bowl.
- 1:24:42Speaker 9: Like though, that was a that was a heavy right,
- 1:24:45Speaker 9: And I agree with everything you guys are saying. It's
- 1:24:47Speaker 9: probably fair. You know, I wouldn't disagree if they ended
- 1:24:50Speaker 9: up winning the NFC and going to Super Bowl, I
- 1:24:51Speaker 9: wouldn't be shocked. Here's what I will say, though, you
- 1:24:54Speaker 9: start looking at Okay, what you know, it's early, we're
- 1:24:56Speaker 9: doing like the whole playoff projection thing. But do you
- 1:24:59Speaker 9: think it's a four conclusion that the Detroit Lions win
- 1:25:02Speaker 9: the division?
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: I know you're going with this, and the answer is no,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: because the Packers are still in that division.
- 1:25:07Speaker 9: You think it's a foregone conclusion. Can you see a
- 1:25:09Speaker 9: scenario that that the Eagles don't win the NFC East?
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: No? Correct? I see.
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: Yeah, so you're seeing, you're saying, you're talking to go home,
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: And I think that's all the best teams don't always
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: make the biggest runs, right, Like, there's so many factors.
- 1:25:29Speaker 9: There's a luck, there's we just got done talking about
- 1:25:31Speaker 9: how your your division can stink or you can do.
- 1:25:34Speaker 9: You know, last year, the Minnesota Vikings win fourteen games
- 1:25:38Speaker 9: and they got to go They're not even the division winner,
- 1:25:40Speaker 9: they're a wild card team because because the division was
- 1:25:43Speaker 9: so good. Like, there's a lot of factors that go
- 1:25:47Speaker 9: into all of this, and that literally could be the
- 1:25:50Speaker 9: deciding factor. Detroit could be better than Philly, but all
- 1:25:53Speaker 9: of a sudden, that game's in Philly and it's cold,
- 1:25:55Speaker 9: and it's the home field advantage, and it's one of one.
- 1:25:58Speaker 9: You don't get to play a home and away. It's
- 1:26:00Speaker 9: not baseball, right Like, you're not getting Oh don't worry,
- 1:26:03Speaker 9: we'll we'll get to their place and then we get
- 1:26:05Speaker 9: to come back home to Detroit in the Dome. Like
- 1:26:08Speaker 9: that's sometimes the luck of the draw. So I think
- 1:26:11Speaker 9: there's a lot of factors on how it all plays out.
- 1:26:13Speaker 9: But yeah, you're probably right, those are probably the two
- 1:26:16Speaker 9: clear cut, maybe not clear cut, but those are probably
- 1:26:18Speaker 9: the two leaders in the clubhouse. I still think the
- 1:26:20Speaker 9: Rams are really good.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I think.
- 1:26:22Speaker 9: Defensively they're nasty. I think Stafford's awesome. They got to
- 1:26:25Speaker 9: get Pooka back. Outside of that, I think there's a
- 1:26:29Speaker 9: lot of one dimensional NFC teams that have different areas
- 1:26:32Speaker 9: that they're good, but just don't have the whole package
- 1:26:35Speaker 9: to see them right now making a big run.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: Right, Okay, behold on, what about what about Seattle? What
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: about Tampa? Like those are two teams to.
- 1:26:43Speaker 9: Me, I just fear that Tampa's lost too much juice.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: I do too. I agree with you.
- 1:26:48Speaker 9: I agree with you, like Baker's incredible, whether in the
- 1:26:52Speaker 9: storm has been incredible. I just think at some point
- 1:26:56Speaker 9: you can only weather losing. So we saw it happened
- 1:26:59Speaker 9: to Detroit last year, right, It was like, oh man,
- 1:27:01Speaker 9: Detroit can lose anyone and they just keep playing. They're
- 1:27:04Speaker 9: so good on defense. Well, at some point as good
- 1:27:07Speaker 9: of a coach as Todd Bowles is as good of
- 1:27:11Speaker 9: a coach as Dan Campbell was last year, and Aaron
- 1:27:14Speaker 9: Glenn the decordinator trying to figure out ways to play
- 1:27:16Speaker 9: without their best players like the NFL man as the
- 1:27:20Speaker 9: when the playoffs come and all the bad teams have
- 1:27:23Speaker 9: been sent home and we're only left with the top dogs,
- 1:27:27Speaker 9: Eventually it catches up to you. That's what concerns me
- 1:27:30Speaker 9: about Tampa.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: That's a that's an extremely fair good news.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: For Tampa though, is they're in a division that's you
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: got to say gone, you will be in the playoffs.
- 1:27:40Speaker 9: Their division is brutal, but you're.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: Right when it gets to the cream of the crop.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: Every like all the bad teams have out now they're
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: all in Tombo, Sat Lucas or ken Kun for the week.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: These teams like Tampa's probably gonna have to go to
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: these plays, these cold weather places during the playoffs and
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: can they stand up? Can they keep this level consistency
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: with Baker for the whole entire year. So yeah, it's
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: a great point. Seattle though, same.
- 1:28:02Speaker 9: I think he's defense now.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: I think they're solid. Yeah, the one game there, one
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: game solid. I wish Kenneth Walker would be more more
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: north and south guy, I can't stand the east and
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: west movement.
- 1:28:13Speaker 9: That's a bouncer.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: He's a bouncer and it's awesome because it's it's home
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: run hitting. But also you live by the Stordy diebus
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: or there's a lot more TfL as in come than
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: home runs.
- 1:28:21Speaker 9: So yeah, I like I like Seattle a lot. I
- 1:28:25Speaker 9: had them. I had them early in the year and
- 1:28:28Speaker 9: they were still trying to you know, Kubiak, the new
- 1:28:30Speaker 9: OC they were trying to get I actually had them
- 1:28:32Speaker 9: week one. I had them week one against San Francisco.
- 1:28:35Speaker 9: Sometimes all these games like blend together. I can't remember
- 1:28:37Speaker 9: who I call when where. Yeah, I had them week one.
- 1:28:41Speaker 9: So obviously, first game of Donald, first game of Kubiak.
- 1:28:44Speaker 9: I like McDonald, I like the head coach. That's a
- 1:28:48Speaker 9: tough place. I mean, we've all played there. That is
- 1:28:50Speaker 9: a nightmare place to play on the road, let alone
- 1:28:53Speaker 9: in a playoff game. So can they win the NFC West.
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: Which similar situation with Lions Pack Like Rams and Seattle
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: is gonna be fighting there till the end.
- 1:29:03Speaker 9: And they're gonna be fighting Niners again. I just injuries Shanahan.
- 1:29:09Speaker 9: I think Shanahan and Robert Sala have done a remarkable job.
- 1:29:14Speaker 9: I just it might be the best coaching job of
- 1:29:16Speaker 9: Shanahan's career. And Robert Sala is going to probably get
- 1:29:19Speaker 9: a head job again because of what he's done. But
- 1:29:22Speaker 9: you can only weather losing these guys for so long,
- 1:29:27Speaker 9: Like you're not getting Fred back. Yeah, he's arguably by
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: the best. Like you're not getting them back. Hopefully they
- 1:29:32Speaker 9: get pretty back. And they finally got Kiddle back after
- 1:29:35Speaker 9: missing the first five games, and like it's just the
- 1:29:39Speaker 9: injuries in San Francisco. You just scratch your head and say,
- 1:29:42Speaker 9: like how long can you weather this? And can you
- 1:29:45Speaker 9: get enough of these guys back early enough that you're
- 1:29:47Speaker 9: still in contention that even if Seattle runs, even if
- 1:29:51Speaker 9: you know, even if Seattle and and the Rams run
- 1:29:53Speaker 9: away with the division, but like, can you stay afloat?
- 1:29:56Speaker 9: Can you get a can you get three teams from
- 1:29:58Speaker 9: one division in the playoffs? We've seen it, It happens,
- 1:30:02Speaker 9: But it's you got to get you got to get
- 1:30:06Speaker 9: your guys back before you know you're in the final
- 1:30:08Speaker 9: stretch of the season.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: No, yeah, that's a good point. You were definitely getting
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: to the point of the season where all the fun
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: storylines of injured teams that are still rallying through. It
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: seems like that might be coming to an end at
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: this point, Like you can only you're right, You're you're
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: absolutely right when you say you can only do it
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: for so long.
- 1:30:23Speaker 9: And again, a lot of the teams that seem like
- 1:30:26Speaker 9: they're weathering the storm and the teams that don't handle
- 1:30:29Speaker 9: injury loss as well. Some of it's internal, right, some
- 1:30:33Speaker 9: of it's just roster depth, roster construction, the ability of
- 1:30:37Speaker 9: a play caller to mask injuries, to o line or
- 1:30:39Speaker 9: you know, whatever it is. But there's also an element
- 1:30:42Speaker 9: of like, can you get lucky in the game that
- 1:30:44Speaker 9: you don't have your starting quarterback, or you don't have
- 1:30:46Speaker 9: your starting left tackle, or you lose mike backer for
- 1:30:49Speaker 9: two weeks and you play into a stretch of games
- 1:30:52Speaker 9: against a bunch of teams that just aren't very good. Yeah, right,
- 1:30:55Speaker 9: so there there, and some teams you're like, all right,
- 1:30:57Speaker 9: I just lost my three best players, and now I
- 1:30:59Speaker 9: got to go play the Chiefs, and now I got
- 1:31:01Speaker 9: to go play the Bills, and you got to go
- 1:31:03Speaker 9: play some of these, you know, high level teams. So
- 1:31:06Speaker 9: there's so much luck and randomness to the NFL. I
- 1:31:09Speaker 9: think that's what makes it so fun. You know, some
- 1:31:12Speaker 9: years your schedule is incredibly difficult. In other years, your
- 1:31:15Speaker 9: schedule is really easy. I think that's part of that's
- 1:31:19Speaker 9: why the regular season I don't always think is the
- 1:31:21Speaker 9: greatest predictor of playoffs success because, as we've said, now,
- 1:31:25Speaker 9: like when all the bad teams get sent home, typically
- 1:31:29Speaker 9: everybody in the playoffs has a good offense. You're not
- 1:31:32Speaker 9: in the playoffs if you're not scoring points. And then
- 1:31:35Speaker 9: the defense now becomes the X factor of what now
- 1:31:38Speaker 9: is the next differentiator between advancing or just being happy
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: that you made the playoffs.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: Yeah, and then late October two, like we're getting into
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: November football, like teams are gonna start hitting their hitting
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: their stride a little bit and seeing what their identity
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: is rolling into the playoffs. Because again it's like you
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: look at all these scores over the weekend, like pretty
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: one sided.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, it honestly is a perfect transition to the
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: Denver Broncos and the Cowboys, because, Buddy, the Cowboys are
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: the Broncos defense is incredible. Bo Nicks just getting better.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: They start slow. They started slow in this game, but
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: it ended up being their best first quarter they've had. Buddy,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: I feel like I transferred high schools and I see
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: the pretty girl, the hot cheerleader, and the hot chee
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: lader is the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: I see them.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: You know, I look kind of nice. Everyone's like, you
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: gotta watch out for her. Rumor has it she's a
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: little bit like the town bicycle a little bit. And
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: I'm like, no, dude, this one seems a little different.
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: So I go on a date. We said girl this week. Yeah,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: she's turning a page, like this maturity involved different with me.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: Yeah with me.
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: I go and I hitch my my name to the
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: wagon of Cowboys fandom for one week. And I literally
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: got there. I got on the bird yesterday and I
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: sat there and I was like, I I my heart
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: goes out to all you cowboy fans who got to
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: feel this like life of luxury in the nineties and
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: eighties or whatever it was, and now you for the
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: last twenty five years you've had to deal with this.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: Because I walked into that Broncos game. Haven't won their
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: nineteen ninety six, all those things, and I'm like, defense
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: looked really good against the Commanders. This is the number
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: one scoring offense in the entire league. Like, maybe we're
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: flipping the strip. Maybe I'm buying this stock low. Who
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: would have known it was a two thousand and eight
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: market crash because it was hard, horrendous I bought it.
- 1:33:15Speaker 9: I say, when you say jumped on the bandwagon, you
- 1:33:17Speaker 9: mean you put some action on it.
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: No, I actually didn't. I actually did not. I I
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: to the bandwagon publicly. I was publicly being like, the
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Cowboys can really get this.
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And all the shows Taylor was heavy.
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: Taylor was like, you know what, I'm buying the cow
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: I'm buying the Cowboys.
- 1:33:35Speaker 9: Dude.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: Schottenheimer his play calling on offense, the run game will like,
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: he's what I think he's number two in the league
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: in rushing. You got yeah, yeah, pick in ceedee lamb.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: It's like, how are you stopping them? Fun fact that
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: broncos knew exactly how to stop them? Like it was
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: extremely it was, man, probably it was so impressive to see.
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: And the first drive, bow Nicks does a pick and
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: I'm thinking I did it. I finally cracked a code
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: on how this works. Man, I'm the man tweet out.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: Maybe I was right that type of thing. We go down,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: they get three score score.
- 1:34:09Speaker 9: Sez takes then just bit where yeah, oh you're.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Looking at it. You're just like, why did I dude?
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: It was brutal, but yeah.
- 1:34:18Speaker 9: Yeah, And again obviously the week prior Denver has the
- 1:34:23Speaker 9: getting blown out nineteen nothing and they score thirty three
- 1:34:28Speaker 9: in the fourth against the Giants, And that game was
- 1:34:30Speaker 9: obviously hotly debated about end of game strategy and the
- 1:34:34Speaker 9: clock and whatever. But like, I don't know if anyone
- 1:34:38Speaker 9: came out of that Denver game against the Giants saying, like,
- 1:34:41Speaker 9: oh man, these guys are for They had an incredible
- 1:34:43Speaker 9: comeback and almost felt more of like a Giant's meltdown
- 1:34:46Speaker 9: than it did. Again, you score thirty three in the fourth,
- 1:34:49Speaker 9: you deserve a lot of credit. But like the Giants
- 1:34:51Speaker 9: certainly didn't help themselves closing that game in the fourth
- 1:34:54Speaker 9: quarter with some of the things they did on both
- 1:34:56Speaker 9: sides of the ball. The problem with Dallas, and we
- 1:35:00Speaker 9: cover a ton of Dallas games, is like and another
- 1:35:03Speaker 9: offense wasn't great yesterday, and partly was the Broncos defense,
- 1:35:06Speaker 9: But their offense week in and week out, especially now
- 1:35:10Speaker 9: with CD back going with pickings like that offense can
- 1:35:13Speaker 9: let you up for thirty in a minute, like they
- 1:35:15Speaker 9: have been putting thirty on people. They've been scoring. Dak's
- 1:35:18Speaker 9: been really good. They're historically bad on defense, and I
- 1:35:23Speaker 9: think at some point for a play caller who's also
- 1:35:27Speaker 9: the head coach, and you're trying to match sides of
- 1:35:29Speaker 9: the ball, and you're trying to come up with the
- 1:35:31Speaker 9: script for the week to say, Okay, how are we
- 1:35:32Speaker 9: going to win this game? When you have to go
- 1:35:35Speaker 9: into every game and you just have to assume it's
- 1:35:38Speaker 9: going to take thirty to win, it is filtered into
- 1:35:41Speaker 9: every decision that you make, and from every first down
- 1:35:44Speaker 9: play call to every It is so hard mentally to
- 1:35:50Speaker 9: go into the game and say, every time we kick
- 1:35:52Speaker 9: a field goal, and every time if we have to punter,
- 1:35:55Speaker 9: god forbid dak throws an interception, the game's probably over.
- 1:36:00Speaker 9: Like that is really really challenging and so terriful Dallas
- 1:36:04Speaker 9: can figure out how to keep people from scoring a
- 1:36:07Speaker 9: million points. I think that's gonna weigh down the Dallas offense,
- 1:36:11Speaker 9: for as good as they are. I just it's it's
- 1:36:15Speaker 9: virtually impossible over long periods of time to operate in
- 1:36:19Speaker 9: that head space where if we don't score on every possession,
- 1:36:23Speaker 9: we're gonna lose.
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: Yeah, you're absolutely right, Yeah, I mean that is that's
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: that is well said.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: And I know we're playing Monday quarterback, but it's like
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: you saying that I'm thinking to myself, how do I
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: not see that the entire time.
- 1:36:35Speaker 9: No, I've been high. I I know the last couple
- 1:36:38Speaker 9: of weeks. Maybe he's cooled off, but I think I
- 1:36:41Speaker 9: said on I can't remember what show I said it on,
- 1:36:43Speaker 9: But like, people like, all right, who do you think's
- 1:36:44Speaker 9: in the MVP conversation through week five? You know, all
- 1:36:47Speaker 9: this stuff that me and you talk that we don't
- 1:36:48Speaker 9: love doing. But I got asked and you know, you mentioned,
- 1:36:51Speaker 9: you know, the usual suspects and then kind of the
- 1:36:54Speaker 9: new cast of guys we touched on with Drake may
- 1:36:56Speaker 9: And and Daniel Jones and whatnot. But I'm like, hey,
- 1:36:58Speaker 9: Dak's playing as good a courquarterback as anybody in the league.
- 1:37:01Speaker 5: Is.
- 1:37:02Speaker 9: The problem is at the time, I think they only
- 1:37:03Speaker 9: had one or two wins. You know, his defense is
- 1:37:06Speaker 9: historically bad, but as far as just playing the most
- 1:37:08Speaker 9: important position at a high level, Dak is in that conversation.
- 1:37:12Speaker 9: So I've been high on Dallas for years because I've
- 1:37:15Speaker 9: seen the potential there offensively when Dak's in the game,
- 1:37:18Speaker 9: it's just they can't seem to recapture any of the
- 1:37:21Speaker 9: magic they had on defense. And you don't have to
- 1:37:26Speaker 9: be a killer defensively, to be good in the regular
- 1:37:29Speaker 9: season in today's NFL, especially if your offense is scoring
- 1:37:32Speaker 9: thirty you just can't be the worst. And that's you know,
- 1:37:37Speaker 9: they just need to somehow get to like middle of
- 1:37:39Speaker 9: the road with a top five offense, you're gonna win
- 1:37:42Speaker 9: a lot of games in the NFL.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: You're absolutely right if you if you can just tag
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: the Cowboys defense with the word mediocre, yeah, just be average, yep,
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: then they would be.
- 1:37:53Speaker 9: Even just now you're not gonna win the Super Bowl.
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but maybe below average. Yeah, it's not the worst.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: You could actually be the worst, just not historically the worst.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Like you could even take on the title of yeah,
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: they're thirty second, but they're not we're.
- 1:38:07Speaker 9: Points per in points per game because I haven't had
- 1:38:11Speaker 9: Dallas in the last couple of weeks in points per game,
- 1:38:13Speaker 9: Dallas was like two within a couple of weeks. So
- 1:38:18Speaker 9: where where are they now? Is the dust settled through
- 1:38:21Speaker 9: this past weekend's game?
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: Is it?
- 1:38:22Speaker 9: Can your guys look better?
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: The Cowboys are I think are scoring thirty one, just
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: over thirty one points per game the Cowboys, which is
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: what I think it was like one. I think it
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: was one. I think they were.
- 1:38:32Speaker 9: Number one, So they're one, and defensively, I want to
- 1:38:34Speaker 9: say they're thirty first or thirty second.
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: They're thirty second, and they're giving up like thirty two
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: or thirty three game.
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: Right now, here's where they stand. They are third in
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: the league with thirty and a half points per game,
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: thirty first in the league defensively given up thirty one
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: point three points per game.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: So even on average they're giving up what's.
- 1:38:53Speaker 9: The twentieth what's the twentieth best defense in points per game?
- 1:38:56Speaker 9: Will what's the what's twentieth twentieth? How many points?
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: Let me see here ahead, give me a second, because
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: I was clicking on the team.
- 1:39:04Speaker 9: Yeah, I just didn't know if there was like a
- 1:39:05Speaker 9: list and you could just see like the difference between
- 1:39:08Speaker 9: thirty first and twentieth.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: But yeah, just be bottom half.
- 1:39:13Speaker 9: That's my point, Like, you don't even need to be
- 1:39:16Speaker 9: you're scoring thirty one a game and thirty and a
- 1:39:19Speaker 9: half a game.
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: I'm so curious.
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: Twenty fifth is Chicago twenty six? How many twenty six
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: point four?
- 1:39:28Speaker 9: Yeah, score thirty one. You can win thirty one twenty six.
- 1:39:31Speaker 9: The math works.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: The math. The math maths there. Yeah, yeah, this is
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: not a question for you to answer because it's like
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: puts you in a position. But this is me being
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: curious that maybe people can comment on, like what is
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: the problem there with the Cowboys defense? Is it ebra
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: flufs and his play calling or is he doesn't have
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: the horses. I know they've got a couple of injuries,
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: but there's no way Micah Parsons changes the defense of
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: that much. There's no way.
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: There's still towards the bottom. I feel like last year.
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: Yeah, they weren't great last year.
- 1:40:01Speaker 9: It's a this is just my observation, So people can
- 1:40:06Speaker 9: take a what they want. But I'm happy to ask
- 1:40:07Speaker 9: the question because I actually think it's bigger than just
- 1:40:10Speaker 9: this sample size of you know, whether they played seven games,
- 1:40:14Speaker 9: eight games.
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: Whatever it is.
- 1:40:16Speaker 9: You go back to the you go back to the
- 1:40:18Speaker 9: twenty twenty three season when they obviously get upset at home.
- 1:40:23Speaker 9: They have an incredible, incredible season. Dak's a potential MVP,
- 1:40:27Speaker 9: Michael Parsons potent, you know, defensive Player of the Year type,
- 1:40:30Speaker 9: like that twenty three season that came to a screeching
- 1:40:33Speaker 9: hal they get upset against Green Bay at home in
- 1:40:36Speaker 9: the UH in the playoffs. You go back to that
- 1:40:40Speaker 9: team and you said, Okay, what made them so good? Obviously,
- 1:40:42Speaker 9: dan Quinn's the defensive coordinator. You're scoring thirty a game,
- 1:40:46Speaker 9: Mike McCarthy, Dak's planing out of his mind. CD, you're
- 1:40:50Speaker 9: really good offensively. So how did they build that defense.
- 1:40:53Speaker 9: They've got Deron Bland getting record setting pick sixes. They
- 1:40:56Speaker 9: got Treyvon Diggs record setting interceptions ballhawk. They've got Micah
- 1:41:01Speaker 9: Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence and oh soo Digie Zua, and
- 1:41:05Speaker 9: they've got light bodies that rush the passer. They play
- 1:41:09Speaker 9: a lot of man coverage, sticky coverage, and they're playing
- 1:41:12Speaker 9: with a lead for so much of the game that
- 1:41:16Speaker 9: you might get me here and there. Diggs gives up
- 1:41:18Speaker 9: a long completion, Bland gets beat a long. You know,
- 1:41:21Speaker 9: their run defense was always crappy, but it didn't matter
- 1:41:24Speaker 9: because they're scoring a million points. That they built the
- 1:41:27Speaker 9: defense with dan Quinn to defend the pass and defend
- 1:41:30Speaker 9: the lead. So all of a sudden, at the end
- 1:41:32Speaker 9: of the game, Micah Parsons stripped sack fumble games over,
- 1:41:35Speaker 9: blanded digs pick six games over. That was what they
- 1:41:39Speaker 9: bought into and that formula works. They paid Bland a million,
- 1:41:43Speaker 9: bazillion dollars. They played Digs at bazillion dollars. Now you
- 1:41:46Speaker 9: look over last year, they're injured, they're not playing right.
- 1:41:50Speaker 9: They lose Micah for a part of the season, and
- 1:41:52Speaker 9: then he comes back. Then they lose Dak and all
- 1:41:55Speaker 9: of a sudden, this past defending man coverage pass rush
- 1:42:00Speaker 9: that they had built to compliment this high scoring offense.
- 1:42:03Speaker 9: The offense goes to the bottom of the league. They struggle,
- 1:42:06Speaker 9: they can't score. They turn into a very ball control
- 1:42:09Speaker 9: running back ric o'dowell who's now having a career year
- 1:42:12Speaker 9: in Carolina. He becomes a thousand yard rusher in Dallas
- 1:42:16Speaker 9: because they just have to lean into the run game
- 1:42:19Speaker 9: to just stay remotely competitive. But as we said earlier,
- 1:42:22Speaker 9: all of a sudden, that style now of low scoring
- 1:42:25Speaker 9: blood bats doesn't match what we do well on defense, right,
- 1:42:29Speaker 9: so everyone gets fired and they start all over. I
- 1:42:32Speaker 9: don't think they've now from a personnel standpoint, DeMarcus Lawrence gone,
- 1:42:38Speaker 9: Micah Parson's gone. Digs in Bland aren't picked six and
- 1:42:42Speaker 9: guys five six times a year. They're not having an
- 1:42:44Speaker 9: interception per game, they're not getting all the splash negatives
- 1:42:48Speaker 9: that they really made a living on, even though now
- 1:42:50Speaker 9: their offense is back to that. So it's really been
- 1:42:53Speaker 9: like a two and a half three year journey of
- 1:42:55Speaker 9: when they had both sides of the ball matched. Man,
- 1:42:58Speaker 9: they were as good as anybody in the league. They
- 1:43:00Speaker 9: lose the Green Bay and in the playoffs all help
- 1:43:03Speaker 9: breaks loose. Last year's a dumpster fire of injuries. They
- 1:43:06Speaker 9: fire Mike McCarthy, and now they're trying to kind of
- 1:43:09Speaker 9: start back over. They haven't been able to use any
- 1:43:11Speaker 9: of the draft picks they got for Micah, So those
- 1:43:14Speaker 9: trades with the exception of of Kenny Clark.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Clark, you know you lost.
- 1:43:19Speaker 9: You lost Micah. You haven't gotten the future picks yet.
- 1:43:23Speaker 9: And I just don't think they have the defensive roster
- 1:43:25Speaker 9: to be that good.
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: Well said, that was honestly a great breakdown.
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because the.
- 1:43:33Speaker 9: Two and a half years is short. I'm a long
- 1:43:35Speaker 9: winded guy. That's two and a half years of watching them.
- 1:43:38Speaker 9: That's as quick as I can make it.
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: I'm sorry, dude.
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: I mean, as far as seeing the entire field and
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: understanding what your offense does the teams, here's that We're
- 1:43:45Speaker 4: gonna have to build the defense. Here's the philosophy that
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: goes with this defense.
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: Takeaway's pass rush, this scheme that kind of goes with
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: those guys. How it's kind of falling apart over the
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: last couple of years.
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: Guys have been injured when you know, it's like even
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: Diggs was out for a little bit last year as well. No,
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: those are those are great points. I do think it's
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: a massive combination of a lot of it and it's
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: not Unfortunately, it's not going to get better this year.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: No, it's not going to get better this year. And
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: it really reminds you of a Peyton Manning's Colt Run
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: Colts run team where you play on the turf, you
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: have two edge rushers that can rush the passer. The
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: team is built to play from the lead, and when
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: you don't have those key pieces, you don't have the
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: lead there for your team is in a precarious spot.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: So yeah, no, that was a fantastic breakdown. And it
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: also goes to show how short sighted we can all
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: be as the viewer of seeing like game by game
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: basis or even just like this year sample size and
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: taking it as like this is the reason why. A
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: lot of times you have to pull back the curtain
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: a little bit, see a couple of years back and
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: be like, this is how we got here, how do
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: we get back to there? And so, yeah, it was
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: a fantastic breakdown. Greg we good.
- 1:44:52Speaker 9: I appreciate it. My assumption would be, if you're Dallas,
- 1:44:57Speaker 9: all these picks that you have coming up, you just
- 1:45:00Speaker 9: double quadruple, triple, quinn tup whatever all then and you
- 1:45:04Speaker 9: just go defense, defense, defense, defense. They've got all those
- 1:45:07Speaker 9: first round picks on the offensive line, they got to
- 1:45:09Speaker 9: figure out how they're going to resign George Pickens. I
- 1:45:11Speaker 9: think that could be a tricky situation when that time comes,
- 1:45:15Speaker 9: because obviously he's not yet on that big deal when
- 1:45:17Speaker 9: they traded for him from Pittsburgh. But I think offensively,
- 1:45:22Speaker 9: I think from a personnel standpoint, they're in really good shape. Ferguson,
- 1:45:26Speaker 9: I think they like their backs. I think it's dump
- 1:45:30Speaker 9: every resource in the draft. If you have a couple
- 1:45:32Speaker 9: bucks left over in free agency, like it needs to
- 1:45:35Speaker 9: be defense, defense, defense, and if you hit on those
- 1:45:40Speaker 9: draft picks in the next over the next two years,
- 1:45:44Speaker 9: you got a shot. The question is it just puts
- 1:45:46Speaker 9: a ton of pressure. You got to hit on those picks.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: You get to hit those picks, and you got to
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: keep Ceedee Lamb, George Pickens and Dak Prescott Young and
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: it's like, who are those.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: No one beats? Father time.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: We're gonna have to let you go. Give Greg random pause.
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: We have Mike Elko coming on next year.
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: Greg, Greg next week, I would love to do a
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: deep dive into the philosophy of how, like the Running
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: Game twelve thirteen personnel, how it's making such a surge
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: quarterback under center, because like a decade ago, when teams
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: were like in twelve twelve personnel, they're kind of utilizing
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: eleven looks. How teams you have to decide if you're
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: gonna go base or hey, you know what we're gonna
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: call this game Nickel philosophically on defense to where now
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: it's like those big bodies and the way the game
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: is changing. Kind of back in a circle. I would
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: love to do a deep dive and break down.
- 1:46:40Speaker 9: I would love nothing more than to do that with you.
- 1:46:42Speaker 9: I'll come with some thoughts and some ideas. I love
- 1:46:45Speaker 9: those conversations.
- 1:46:47Speaker 5: Done.
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: Okay, perfect, you're the man, Greg, Thank you very much, man, Joco.
- 1:46:50Speaker 9: Man, what's up?
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: Hey, guys, are.
- 1:46:52Speaker 9: You I'm leaving? I'm Greg Olsen by the.
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: Way, Yeah, from the Jersey roots.
- 1:46:59Speaker 9: I know, I know exactly him. Yeah, you recruited in
- 1:47:02Speaker 9: my dad's school, didn't you. Absolutely Now where remind me
- 1:47:06Speaker 9: where you were when you recruit I knew you we
- 1:47:07Speaker 9: recruiting North Jersey because my dad's told me where were
- 1:47:09Speaker 9: you when you were recruiting A.
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: Bunch of schools that you won't remember? Fordham Hop of
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: course when I was down at the University of Richmond,
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: we were up there.
- 1:47:18Speaker 9: Yeah, Wayne Hills, Wayne Hills, Yep. My dad tells me
- 1:47:22Speaker 9: every time you move you guys on National TV, my
- 1:47:24Speaker 9: dad reminds me that he said, hey, he's been a
- 1:47:28Speaker 9: hell of a coach now for a long time. He
- 1:47:30Speaker 9: used to sit in my office ten fifteen years ago.
- 1:47:32Speaker 9: I was like, I know, Dad, you told me every Saturday,
- 1:47:34Speaker 9: every Saturday, I'm gonna leave. Good luck, coach. Yeah, you
- 1:47:39Speaker 9: guys have been awesome. Man, you're doing a great job.
- 1:47:41Speaker 9: Thanks appreciate you.
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: Greg.
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: Yes, Yeah, thanks Greg, your brother.
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: Good moment you.
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: Get two Jersey guys on the show together.
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: Yeah, they say, I kinda sat back here and just
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: watch you guys talk for the next fifties week. It
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: took all the time just listening to.
- 1:47:57Speaker 2: You guys break Jersey.
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: You can feel uh Greg's dad, mister Olson just be hey,
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: that's a hell of a ball, coach.
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: He's just sitting in my office.
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: And it's like the first time, You're like, that's pretty
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: damn cool, Coach. Oko, he's just sitting in your office.
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: And then after like it's like week seven, it's the
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: eighth time he said it. It's like, Dad, I know
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: he's the man. I got it, Coach. Let's give a coach.
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: I'll go a round of applause for being on the bus,
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: taking time out of his day. Just got back from
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: putting an ass beating on Baton Rouge Louisiana Lsu. We
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: can say that, coach. I'm sure you would not say that.
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: I'm sure gonna say I appreciate it coming from you guys,
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: though it sounds good.
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: I'm not allowed.
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, hard fought game, guys, ended up pulling
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: away in that second half. Your quarterback right now, let's
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: talk about this cat, Marcel Reid. He's fourth in the
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: Heisman running. I'm sure as any coach would be you're
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: ignoring that type of noise. So I'm just gonna ask
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: you about this court and be like, what is what
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: is about him Reid that makes him so great right now?
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: For you?
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: Yeah. I think he's really taken the next step this
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: year in terms of his ability to beat people both ways,
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: and I think that was the big challenge that he
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: had coming out of last year. He's a phenomenal athlete.
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: I think you saw that Saturday night. What he can
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: do when the play breaks down, what he can do
- 1:49:07Speaker 5: improvising is at an elite level. I think what he's
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: done is he's transitioned himself to where he can also
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: beat you in the pocket throwing the football now, and
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: I think his ability to do both really put stress
- 1:49:21Speaker 5: on a defense. And I think that's been a huge
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: part of the offensive success this year is we are
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: we're multi dimensional. We have a lot of different ways
- 1:49:29Speaker 5: that we can attack people.
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: Coach, can you remind me who is number five on
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: your team? Defensively? Number five?
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: The dude that was barking at the entire offensive line
- 1:49:40Speaker 4: was it number five? It might have been a different.
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: Number, No, number nine, number now?
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, okay, Yeah, you had me puzzled for a second. Yeah,
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: that is my fault. That is my fault. I'll scroll
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: And I saw a clip.
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: I saw this dude barking at basically the entire offensive
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: line at LSU.
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: What type of juice do you feel like that brings
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: to a squad?
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: And again I Greg was on and I was kind
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: of telling the boys, I'm kind of going at the
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: seat of my pants right now. A friend of mine
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: had a wedding over the weekend. Absolutely selfish decision on
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: his part. I didn't get to watch a whole lot
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: of ball. But when I'm watching that clip, like obviously
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: you're trying to reel it in and everything else, but internally,
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: and you know, when you're in the locker room and
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: even watching this stuff after the game, what kind of
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: juice does that bring to a team when you're putting
- 1:50:22Speaker 4: an ass open on somebody.
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: No, I think that's the line you want your team
- 1:50:26Speaker 5: to walk. You know, you play in the SEC. You
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: go into some of these environments at night, you can't
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: be timidd you can't be just kind of oh, we're
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: just gonna tell the line. Like you have to be
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: on an edge. You got to be willing to play
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: on an edge, and you got to be willing to
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: do things sometimes to give yourself an edge and an opportunity.
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: And so that's what we want to do. That's how
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: we want to go about it. And obviously that was
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: a really really big game for us, and the kids
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: were fired up.
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: One of the big news stories after this weekend after
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: your game against LSU, as Brian Kelly was relieved of
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: his duties as the head coach of the LSU Tigers.
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: It's such an interesting situation that you're in because you're
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: the last coach to play him, you're the last coach
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: to beat him, but at one point in time he
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: hired you as the DC for Notre Dame, and so
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: you can be as long winned as you want in
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: this situation. But what is your relationship like with Brian Kelly?
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: That game? How it unfolded. I know that a lot
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: of LSU Tigers fans were chanting, and I'm sure you
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: guys have established some sort of relationship since you guys
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: have parted ways, whether it's good or bet or and different,
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: and I just kind of want to hear your thoughts
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: about your relationship with him, and then how that game
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: unfolded as they were chanting fire Kelly.
- 1:51:38Speaker 5: Yeah, obviously, I have a ton of respect for Brian.
- 1:51:41Speaker 5: Brian's the guy that gave me my first opportunity to
- 1:51:43Speaker 5: kind of get on the big stage at Notre Dame,
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: and at that point, I was a defensive coordinator at
- 1:51:47Speaker 5: Wake Forest and he was really the first guy to
- 1:51:50Speaker 5: give me that chance, and so I have a ton
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: of respect for him. We've got a great professional relationship,
- 1:51:55Speaker 5: a lot of mutual respect for each other. You never
- 1:51:58Speaker 5: want to see that for anybody. You certainly want to
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: don't want to see that to a guy who has
- 1:52:02Speaker 5: helped you in your career at some point and the
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: guy that you respect. And so I think it's a
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: lot of things. I think one, I appreciate him and
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: appreciate everything he did for me and my family. But
- 1:52:12Speaker 5: also it's probably a quick notice to where this profession is.
- 1:52:16Speaker 5: I saw this the other day. I think three of
- 1:52:18Speaker 5: the top fifteen teams in the preseason eight people have
- 1:52:21Speaker 5: already fired their coach at week eight, and so it's
- 1:52:24Speaker 5: crazy a week tweet business more now than it's ever been.
- 1:52:27Speaker 5: And you gotta keep your head down, You got to keep.
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: Grying Oh yeah. I was gonna say, you gotta just
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: keep your head down, yeah, roll because.
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: I mean bullets over your head and elchoes just out
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: there front of the pack. Ain't no just crawling away
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: being like I got it any moment.
- 1:52:41Speaker 5: But still trying really hard to not catch any stray.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: It's got to be a terrifying position. You got your
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: buddy to your left, in your right getting shot down.
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: You're like, we I gotta keep this thing going here.
- 1:52:53Speaker 4: You know the buyouts there, you know everybody posting about
- 1:52:56Speaker 4: the biots that are happening. It's like, hey, college football,
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: the teams want to fucking win, and nobody, nobody, nobody
- 1:53:04Speaker 4: is safe. Talk about your relationship with Trev Alberts. Obviously,
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: he's he's a friend of the show. I've had him
- 1:53:09Speaker 4: on this podcast before. He was a nebrassa guy and
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: a linebacker that I admired going through that university. What's
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: your relationship been like with him, because he did a
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: great job. Your guys' staff, everybody did a phenomenal job
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: hosting us last year when we came out to the game.
- 1:53:22Speaker 4: I believe it was against Notre Dame. Yeah, but just
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: talk about that relationship with Mitch with coach Alberts, Trev
- 1:53:28Speaker 4: Alberts and uh yeah, fluff up the boys.
- 1:53:32Speaker 5: A great partnership, I think when you're the head football coach,
- 1:53:35Speaker 5: but you would love to have as an ad who's
- 1:53:37Speaker 5: a former All American and a first round draft pick
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: who kind of understands football through the lens of a
- 1:53:43Speaker 5: football player. I think that's a really, really good starting point.
- 1:53:46Speaker 5: I think there's a lot of similarities in how he
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: believes a program should run and how I believe a
- 1:53:51Speaker 5: program should run. And then I think we both believe
- 1:53:54Speaker 5: in what Texas A and M is capable of. And
- 1:53:56Speaker 5: so it's been a really good partnership. I've really enjoyed
- 1:53:58Speaker 5: getting to spend time with him and to know them,
- 1:54:00Speaker 5: and again, as we try to build this place into,
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: you know what everybody on the outside thinks it's capable
- 1:54:06Speaker 5: of being. Uh, it's good to be able to do
- 1:54:09Speaker 5: that with somebody who knows football the way Trev does.
- 1:54:12Speaker 5: And so it's it's been really good.
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: Culture wise and standard wise. What do you how do
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: you feel like this mentality is shifted because I know,
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: just externally watching it from Afar, watching A and M
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: fans from Afar, you guys historically been known as like,
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: you know, the three loss team that's gonna that eventually comes.
- 1:54:28Speaker 4: I feel like everybody's kind of, you know, clutching their
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: pearls every week. Now since you guys are undefeated at
- 1:54:33Speaker 4: the top of the sec How do you feel like
- 1:54:35Speaker 4: that mentality and culture has shifted now being in your
- 1:54:38Speaker 4: second year as the head coach for A and M Yeah.
- 1:54:41Speaker 5: I just think what we did was we tried to
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: instill a little bit more of a blue collar work
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: ethic into this place. And I think, you know, one
- 1:54:49Speaker 5: of the challenges when you have a place that has
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: a lot of really nice things is entitlement starts to
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: creep in, and all of a sudden, you start expecting
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: things to happen for you and you really don't go
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: out and work to make them happen for you. And
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: I think that's kind of been our mentality since day one,
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: is is we want to make sure that in those
- 1:55:07Speaker 5: times of the year when no one's paying attention to us,
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: that we're out working people, that we're doing things the
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: way they need to be done, so that, you know,
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: when we get into the fourth quarter in Arkansas and
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: things aren't going the way we want them to go.
- 1:55:19Speaker 5: We can find a way. When we get into the
- 1:55:21Speaker 5: fourth quarter at Notre Dame and we're down, we can
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: find a way. And when we come out in the
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: second half at LSU, we can run away with a game.
- 1:55:27Speaker 5: Like all of that stuff gets formed with those things
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: that you're doing throughout the year, and I just think
- 1:55:33Speaker 5: we focused a lot more on that than we have about,
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: you know, pounding our chest about you know, our facilities,
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: or how nice this place is or those types of things.
- 1:55:42Speaker 5: And I think maybe that's flipped a little bit how
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: we see things and how we think about them.
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: You're aight, no right now, You're standing at top of
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: the sec keep.
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: Saying that like you're trying to jinx it like I'm
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: pitching a no hit.
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: Yeah right.
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: Enough, Yeah, you're right, you're right, get a hit.
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: Let me try to rephrase it. You've lost zero time
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: this year, so we don't jinx it, and so the
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: head coach, the pitcher can continue to throw his no hitter.
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: What are the messages taking place in your building right now? Because,
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: like Will said, we've been to your campus, people say
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: it's very much cult like when it comes to your
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: fan base, I tend to agree with that, and I
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: mean it as a compliment, like the Midnight Yells all
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: that like it is. You watch it and if you're
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: a hater of Texas A and M, you're like this,
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: this stuff is a little bit crazy. But as a
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: as a Michigan guy, like I would love it if
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: my fan base got together at midnight in Michigan Stadium
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: and like went over what kind of chance we're going
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: to do? So obviously, like the expectations just grown and
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: grown and grown and grown. Where pearls are maybe no
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: longer being clutched from the outside, they're now like, hey,
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: maybe we actually maybe we can do it like that.
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: We had a hard time at LSU, but no, we
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: don't have a hard time. Elsie Moore. How are you
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: keeping those boys focused going to these last three games
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: of the year?
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: Yeah, First of all, we use the term passionate. That's
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: what our fan base y. Yeah, when you talk about
- 1:57:02Speaker 5: passionate fan bases, like they are at a lot of
- 1:57:04Speaker 5: places around the country, they have high expectations, and expectations
- 1:57:09Speaker 5: grow every time you win a football game. And that's
- 1:57:11Speaker 5: just the nature of college football today. And I think
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: the biggest thing that we talk about internally is one
- 1:57:17Speaker 5: how much the noise can impact you. And that's a
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: year round conversation to avoid the noise, for the good,
- 1:57:23Speaker 5: for the bad, no matter what. You're going to be
- 1:57:25Speaker 5: on a seesaw, you know. And so you go out
- 1:57:27Speaker 5: and lose a game, and you're gonna be the worst
- 1:57:28Speaker 5: team in the history of Dexas A and M. You
- 1:57:31Speaker 5: go out and win a game, and you're going to
- 1:57:32Speaker 5: be the best team. And that that's just how this
- 1:57:33Speaker 5: stuff goes nowadays. And so a lot of it is that,
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: a lot of it is just education on how to
- 1:57:38Speaker 5: avoid the noise. And then I think we're in a
- 1:57:40Speaker 5: fortunate situation because you know, we got this program to
- 1:57:44Speaker 5: this spot or very close to it last year where
- 1:57:46Speaker 5: we were five and zero in the SEC and we
- 1:57:48Speaker 5: had just beaten LSU and things were trending in a
- 1:57:51Speaker 5: really positive direction. And I think that was really the
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: first time this program, in this last few year iteration
- 1:57:58Speaker 5: of it, experienced that, you know, people talking positive about them,
- 1:58:02Speaker 5: people talking about potential play like and we didn't handle
- 1:58:04Speaker 5: it the right way last year and they know that,
- 1:58:07Speaker 5: and so I think we have the opportunity to kind
- 1:58:10Speaker 5: of point back to that and keep them grounded on
- 1:58:13Speaker 5: a one game mentality or one one week mentality and
- 1:58:16Speaker 5: finish this thing the way we want to so that
- 1:58:18Speaker 5: we can get done what we want to get done.
- 1:58:20Speaker 4: Yeah, because you can see the rat poison even as
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: players like you can see the rat poison that can
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: start to creep into times, especially if you are you
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: guys right now and you're looking at Missoo who just lost.
- 1:58:30Speaker 4: They're a two lost team. We got Miszoo South Carolina,
- 1:58:33Speaker 4: Sanford in Texas who Texas has had so much conversation
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: around negatively, you can very much see like, hey, boys,
- 1:58:40Speaker 4: this is we don't let our we don't let our
- 1:58:42Speaker 4: foot up the gas here, especially as a coach. Coach Uko,
- 1:58:45Speaker 4: I want to just read you your career man Stonybrook,
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: Penn Merchant, Marine fordam Richmond, Hostra Bowling, Green Wake Forest.
- 1:58:56Speaker 4: Then you get your LIQ with Notre dame A and
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: m out at Duke and then back at A and
- 1:58:59Speaker 4: m man what when you reflect back on your career
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: in your climb in this business, because you clearly took
- 1:59:07Speaker 4: you were you were at the absolute bottom. You had
- 1:59:10Speaker 4: to climb and earn every bit of where right now,
- 1:59:15Speaker 4: crazy shot at Stony Broke.
- 1:59:16Speaker 2: But in this business, you've done clearly an incredible job.
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: What advantages do you feel like you had making this route,
- 1:59:24Speaker 4: making your own way when you look back and reflect
- 1:59:27Speaker 4: on a resume like this, Again, all due respect, all
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: these teams are just named.
- 1:59:33Speaker 2: Talking about.
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: Just go crazy. All these teams suck, and now you're
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: at a good team, coach, how do you feel.
- 1:59:45Speaker 4: I don't even mean it like that, bro I don't
- 1:59:47Speaker 4: even mean it like that, but it's just, you.
- 1:59:49Speaker 5: Know, I get the question. This is this is what
- 1:59:52Speaker 5: I would say. It was a unique path, for sure.
- 1:59:54Speaker 5: I've said that a lot of times to a lot
- 1:59:57Speaker 5: of different people. It's something we talk about in recruiting.
- 2:00:00Speaker 5: I was never the guy who went and elevated himself
- 2:00:03Speaker 5: as a GA or position coach. I became a defensive
- 2:00:06Speaker 5: coordinator at Hofstra when I was twenty six years old,
- 2:00:09Speaker 5: and I just climbed the ranks of football as a
- 2:00:11Speaker 5: defensive coordinator. And that was just the path that I took.
- 2:00:15Speaker 5: That was how it went. And I think what you
- 2:00:17Speaker 5: learn from it is is one a humbleness and a
- 2:00:20Speaker 5: humility that you know you're great coaches, great players. They
- 2:00:24Speaker 5: come from a lot of different places right, And it's
- 2:00:26Speaker 5: not necessarily who the most star studded names on social
- 2:00:30Speaker 5: media are. It's the people who are capable and do
- 2:00:34Speaker 5: the work to be really successful. And I think that's
- 2:00:37Speaker 5: that forms from that. Also, it's probably an appreciation for
- 2:00:41Speaker 5: the opportunities that I have because that first job, I'll
- 2:00:44Speaker 5: tell you, you know, the first job I was at
- 2:00:46Speaker 5: Stony Brook. My office was in a portable trailer right
- 2:00:49Speaker 5: next to the bathroom, and so I can't say that
- 2:00:52Speaker 5: when I was sitting there going to work every day
- 2:00:54Speaker 5: slicing cutup tapes, that I envisioned this would be the
- 2:00:57Speaker 5: ending point. So I think she keeps you humble, keeps
- 2:01:01Speaker 5: you grounded, and just kind of makes you stick to
- 2:01:03Speaker 5: the process that you've always gone through your whole life.
- 2:01:05Speaker 2: Well, what were you getting paid as a j in
- 2:01:07Speaker 2: Stony Brook?
- 2:01:08Speaker 5: Oh gosh, I think I was getting paid like sixty
- 2:01:11Speaker 5: five hundred dollars. I'll tell you the best one. So
- 2:01:13Speaker 5: the second year saw I'm a pngrad. So a lot
- 2:01:16Speaker 5: of pengrads make a lot of money when they get
- 2:01:18Speaker 5: out of college. I didn't. My second year, I went
- 2:01:20Speaker 5: back to Penn and I kept having to bring recruits
- 2:01:22Speaker 5: through this presentation where they were showing the average starting
- 2:01:26Speaker 5: salary of a pngrad and I think I was making
- 2:01:28Speaker 5: like seventeen thousand. I think the average grad was making
- 2:01:31Speaker 5: like ninety. At that point, I'm thinking to myself, jeez,
- 2:01:34Speaker 5: I'm not sure that I made the right decision with
- 2:01:36Speaker 5: my life. But it's worked out. We kind of got
- 2:01:39Speaker 5: to the point.
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: That is a funny story about questioning your path. Has
- 2:01:44Speaker 1: there ever been a real question for you being like
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: maybe you have a tough Caesar or two and you're like,
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: I don't know if this is the path I truly
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: want to go down. Have you ever had one of
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: those moments as a coach?
- 2:01:54Speaker 5: No, I really haven't. I really have been fortunate. I've
- 2:01:57Speaker 5: been fortunate that, you know, most of the time I've
- 2:01:59Speaker 5: been of programs that we're ascending. You're never really been
- 2:02:04Speaker 5: been up against the block where things were trending backwards
- 2:02:07Speaker 5: or trending downhill. Knock on wood. I've been fortunate enough
- 2:02:10Speaker 5: to never have been fired. And so you know, I've
- 2:02:13Speaker 5: had a blessed career. If you can think about how
- 2:02:16Speaker 5: how many pitfalls there really are in football, and so
- 2:02:18Speaker 5: even though some of those names aren't the most prestigious
- 2:02:21Speaker 5: names of schools that I've been at. Uh, you know,
- 2:02:24Speaker 5: I have been fortunate to be part of a lot
- 2:02:26Speaker 5: of really good seasons and a lot of really good situations.
- 2:02:28Speaker 4: Hats off to you for being selfless to know I'm
- 2:02:30Speaker 4: going to take these recruits through this presentation, and honestly,
- 2:02:34Speaker 4: you're just You're taking strays left and right, like you're
- 2:02:37Speaker 4: going to get slaughtered. Your ego is going to get
- 2:02:39Speaker 4: slaughtered every time you're running them through this presentation.
- 2:02:41Speaker 5: I kept asking the lady when I would leave, I'm like,
- 2:02:43Speaker 5: does this have mine like in it? Like is this
- 2:02:46Speaker 5: counting what I'm making or is this like a previous
- 2:02:49Speaker 5: graduating class?
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: Or that is awesome, coach. We appreciate the hell of
- 2:02:54Speaker 1: you taking the time out of your day busy stales.
- 2:02:56Speaker 2: I have I have one more question, Well.
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: Yet one more question, and I'm gonna restart.
- 2:02:59Speaker 4: You had this, Yeah, this comes from the wedding. Who's
- 2:03:03Speaker 4: number seven? You had a famous quote last year. This
- 2:03:08Speaker 4: is a real program. It's not fake. It's not a
- 2:03:10Speaker 4: politician run It's not a politician running this program talking
- 2:03:13Speaker 4: fast and bullshitting everybody. This is a real program for
- 2:03:16Speaker 4: all the recruits out there. This is a real place
- 2:03:18Speaker 4: and if you want to be really good at football,
- 2:03:20Speaker 4: this is a really good place to be. Your name
- 2:03:24Speaker 4: With all of g's job openings coming open, your name
- 2:03:28Speaker 4: starts to get in those conversations because the belief on
- 2:03:31Speaker 4: the outside is also Texas A and M. The brand,
- 2:03:34Speaker 4: the logo, everything else. This at one point in time
- 2:03:38Speaker 4: was a stepping stone to all of these other schools,
- 2:03:40Speaker 4: these jobs that are now opening up with LSU, Florida,
- 2:03:43Speaker 4: Penn State. For you sitting where you're at and the
- 2:03:47Speaker 4: movement of nil money, you building this place to where
- 2:03:51Speaker 4: everyone talks about on the outside what Texas A and
- 2:03:54Speaker 4: M could be?
- 2:03:54Speaker 2: What do you feel? How do you feel about that noise?
- 2:03:57Speaker 4: Are these conversations you have with the players in your
- 2:03:59Speaker 4: name comes up in these conversations. As far as a
- 2:04:03Speaker 4: Texas A and M is a spot I want to be.
- 2:04:05Speaker 4: This is the most focus I'm putting into as a
- 2:04:07Speaker 4: coach of the Texas A and m Aggie's What are
- 2:04:10Speaker 4: those conversations like when you're compartmentalizing everything being at A
- 2:04:13Speaker 4: and M.
- 2:04:14Speaker 5: Yeah. I had a really other famous quote that came
- 2:04:16Speaker 5: out like a week and a half ago that was
- 2:04:18Speaker 5: on social media about my thoughts on these other jobs
- 2:04:21Speaker 5: and it being a waste of brain space. I think
- 2:04:24Speaker 5: no different than we talk to our players. I think
- 2:04:27Speaker 5: it's really important to focus on what's in front of you.
- 2:04:30Speaker 5: We have a lot of confidence in what we're doing
- 2:04:31Speaker 5: here at Texas A and m what this place can be,
- 2:04:35Speaker 5: and I just don't think those conversations are things that
- 2:04:37Speaker 5: are important at all during the season, and so internally
- 2:04:40Speaker 5: we address the things that we need to. But like
- 2:04:43Speaker 5: we tell the players to avoid the external noise, I
- 2:04:46Speaker 5: think it's really important that coaches do the same, and
- 2:04:48Speaker 5: that's how we try to go about it.
- 2:04:50Speaker 2: Coach man you are.
- 2:04:52Speaker 4: I'll tell you what, I'd love to have an ice
- 2:04:53Speaker 4: cool bud light with you one day, you saying strays,
- 2:04:56Speaker 4: you having some laughs, like I can just tell you're
- 2:04:58Speaker 4: a fucking guys guy, and when love to have a
- 2:05:00Speaker 4: beer with you at some point when we.
- 2:05:01Speaker 5: Visit now we'll get you guys back down to college
- 2:05:03Speaker 5: station and uh maybe we'll make that happen.
- 2:05:06Speaker 4: All right, all right, brother, coach, thank you very much,
- 2:05:08Speaker 4: We thank you for thank you for taking the time.
