Latest / Moming and Me: The Podcast / If You Really Want to Know How a Company Feels About You… Die
Transcript
- Najah: You know, somebody told me once that if you really want to know what a company thinks about you, die. And baby, they ain't lying. Every company on earth has a succession plan. Every single one. CEOs get replaced. Founders get replaced. Managers get replaced. Don't ever convince yourself that you're not replaceable. We've all heard the stories of people getting pushed out right before retirement after giving a company decades of their life. So why are you feeling guilty for taking a sick day? And why are you sacrificing your personal life for a place that would post your position before the chair got cold? Exhaustion is not a badge of honor. And rest is not a character flaw. Setting boundaries at work is not a lack of commitment. Rather it's an understanding that your job is part of your life. It is not your life. Your family needs you. Your health needs you. Your peace needs you. And most importantly, you need you. The company will survive. Send this to somebody who needs to hear this. You can be committed to your work without sacrificing yourself for it.
