Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / Chloe Fisher Scraps Sunglass Collab
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Amy Torber and coming up on today's show, Chloe Fisher
- 0:12Speaker 1: pulls the pin on her soon-to-be-released Sunglass collaboration, Olivia Rogers'
- 0:17Speaker 1: tell-all interview with her new boyfriend, Hugo Brecky, Kate Forster
- 0:21Speaker 1: slams embarrassing grabby influencers, and Sophie Jane Miller's new cookbook
- 0:26Speaker 1: tops the charts. But first, Lauren Bullen's business class woes
- 0:29Speaker 1: have continued, Kate.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yeah, last week we were talking about how the OG
- 0:33Speaker 2: travel blogger was abused by a fellow business class passenger
- 0:37Speaker 2: after her baby daughter cried on her flight to Ibiza.
- 0:40Speaker 2: This week, Lauren has opened up about her experience flying
- 0:44Speaker 2: back to Bali on Qatar Airways. So she was flying
- 0:47Speaker 2: business class again. This time she was in the airline's
- 0:49Speaker 2: queue suite and she said it was really fucking good.
- 0:53Speaker 1: So I don't know if you've heard much about Q Suite, Kate,
- 0:55Speaker 1: but it's basically like a little room for each traveler.
- 0:58Speaker 1: So Lauren said there was even a door in her suite.
- 1:01Speaker 1: So it was much better for her and I suppose
- 1:03Speaker 1: the other passengers who didn't have to listen to her
- 1:05Speaker 1: daughter crying. Originally, when I saw the post, I was like, oh,
- 1:08Speaker 1: maybe the airline has reached out after her bad experience
- 1:11Speaker 1: last time, given her some free tickets, really tried to
- 1:14Speaker 1: turn it on for her. But her praise for Qatar
- 1:17Speaker 1: Airlines was pretty short-lived because when she got home to Bali...
- 1:21Speaker 1: She found out that only.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Two of her four bags had arrived at the airport
- 1:25Speaker 2: with her and her daughter's stroller and car seat were
- 1:28Speaker 2: both missing with no word on when they would arrive.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And she said that with all the travel she's done
- 1:33Speaker 2: over the years, this has never, ever happened to her.
- 1:35Speaker 1: What would you rather, Kate? Someone abusing you in business
- 1:38Speaker 1: class and having your bags arrive or a really pleasant
- 1:41Speaker 1: in-flight experience, but no bags?
- 1:43Speaker 2: That's a tough one. I'd probably go with being abused
- 1:46Speaker 2: in business class because Can you imagine? You'd be absolutely
- 1:49Speaker 2: exhausted with a baby and there's no way you can
- 1:52Speaker 2: get that baby home. You can't put her in a stroller,
- 1:54Speaker 2: so you're probably having to carry her along with two bags.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I know there's two others that are missing, no doubt
- 1:59Speaker 2: probably with all the essentials for the baby in them.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Three things you enjoy doing daily. Drinking tea, putting on
- 2:07Speaker 1: my incense, slowing down.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Are you serious?
- 2:15Speaker 3: Are you high?
- 2:16Speaker 1: There's simple things in life that make me happy. Chloe
- 2:20Speaker 1: Fisher has announced she has walked away from her collaboration
- 2:23Speaker 1: with Paired Eyewear. The popular podcaster was set to release
- 2:26Speaker 1: a sunglass collection with the Australian brand, but announced on
- 2:30Speaker 1: Monday that she was pulling the pin on the collaboration. Now, Kate,
- 2:33Speaker 1: before we get into it, can you bring listeners up
- 2:35Speaker 1: to speed on who Chloe Fisher is?
- 2:37Speaker 2: Chloe is probably best known as the co-host of popular
- 2:40Speaker 2: Australian podcast Darling Shine. But she had her first taste
- 2:44Speaker 2: of the spotlight, though, when she married international DJ Paul Fisher,
- 2:47Speaker 2: best known as Fisher. He is a massive Australian DJ.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I can't quite get my head around everything Chloe does
- 2:55Speaker 2: because it is a lot. So not only does she
- 2:57Speaker 2: have a very successful podcast, but she is the founder
- 3:01Speaker 2: of a swimwear label, owns a seltzer brand and also
- 3:04Speaker 2: a property development company. And to top it all off,
- 3:07Speaker 2: she welcomed her first child, Bobby, in June 2024. and
- 3:11Speaker 2: recently announced she's pregnant with her second child. And in
- 3:14Speaker 2: her spare time, she's also written a memoir where she
- 3:16Speaker 2: discusses fertility, family, grief, and love. And it's set to
- 3:20Speaker 2: be released in October, and it's very highly anticipated because
- 3:23Speaker 2: over the last couple of years, she's led a lot
- 3:25Speaker 2: of important discussions around fertility on her podcast. She bravely
- 3:29Speaker 2: shared that she'd had four miscarriages and eight rounds of
- 3:31Speaker 2: IVF before falling pregnant with her daughter, Bobbi.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Now, alongside all of these various business endeavors, Chloe also
- 3:37Speaker 1: works as an influencer. So she's got over half a
- 3:40Speaker 1: million followers on Instagram and she is a hot commodity.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So she's worked on major campaigns for The Iconic. She's
- 3:47Speaker 1: also partnered with Mejuri and she even released a limited
- 3:50Speaker 1: edition handbag collection with Preen. And this reportedly sold out
- 3:54Speaker 1: within seven minutes.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so you can see why Paired Eyewear were very
- 3:58Speaker 2: keen to work with her. So before announcing her collection
- 4:01Speaker 2: with the brand, She had a prior relationship with them
- 4:04Speaker 2: as an ambassador. In fact, paired eyewear still have a
- 4:07Speaker 2: dedicated page that allows people to shop her favorite styles
- 4:11Speaker 2: from the brand. So when Khloe teased that she was
- 4:13Speaker 2: releasing her own collection, fans were really excited. So excited,
- 4:17Speaker 2: in fact, it appears some of them actually purchased from
- 4:19Speaker 2: the brand before her collection dropped.
- 4:22Speaker 1: That's dedication.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Well, the excitement quickly turned to disappointment, though, with several
- 4:26Speaker 2: followers complaining they still hadn't received orders from the company.
- 4:30Speaker 2: One follower left a message on Chloe's post claiming she
- 4:32Speaker 2: was still waiting for the brand to dispatch an order
- 4:34Speaker 2: she made four weeks ago. This follower alleged that she'd
- 4:38Speaker 2: emailed the company twice, but they hadn't replied and wrote,
- 4:41Speaker 2: can you please help your sisters out? It's not like
- 4:44Speaker 2: they are $ 10 glasses and we have no control over
- 4:47Speaker 2: our order or money. Thank you so much. I'm sure
- 4:49Speaker 2: you will do the right thing. Now, another person replied
- 4:52Speaker 2: to the comment writing, second this, this is so frustrating.
- 4:55Speaker 2: They have taken our money and now disappeared. Now these
- 4:58Speaker 2: comments are still on Chloe's post, but neither Chloe or
- 5:01Speaker 2: the brand replied to them. Then there was another post
- 5:04Speaker 2: that Chloe made and she was wearing sunglasses in it
- 5:07Speaker 2: and a follower asked her where she got them from.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Now Chloe didn't respond, but another disgruntled paired eyewear customer wrote,
- 5:13Speaker 2: don't purchase anything from paired. Me along with countless other
- 5:16Speaker 2: customers have been waiting on our orders or refunds since
- 5:19Speaker 2: at least February this year and they will not respond
- 5:22Speaker 2: to any of our contact. Don't get scammed as well. Now,
- 5:25Speaker 2: this comment, again, remained on the post, but was still
- 5:28Speaker 2: unanswered by Chloe or the brand. And it appears that
- 5:30Speaker 2: these complaints could have been the tip of the iceberg.
- 5:33Speaker 2: As on Monday, Chloe released a statement on her Instagram
- 5:36Speaker 2: story that said, Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of my
- 5:40Speaker 2: control and several creative and operational differences, I will no
- 5:44Speaker 2: longer be pursuing this collaboration or having any association with
- 5:47Speaker 2: paired eyewear. She also went on to address complaints that
- 5:51Speaker 2: she'd received from her followers, writing, I'm aware that some
- 5:53Speaker 2: of you purchased from paired eyewear and never received them.
- 5:57Speaker 2: While I know how disappointing and frustrating this may be,
- 6:00Speaker 2: please know that all sales and fulfillment of these products
- 6:03Speaker 2: were handled directly by paired eyewear.
- 6:05Speaker 1: My team and I were not involved in this side
- 6:08Speaker 1: of their business. Chloe then said she was saddened by
- 6:10Speaker 1: how it all unfolded and transparency was important to her.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And she wanted to keep her followers updated.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Now, Paired Eyewear are yet to publicly respond to Chloe's update.
- 6:21Speaker 2: And the Instagram comments have been turned off since May.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And it's interesting timing as it seems like the collection
- 6:26Speaker 2: was ready to go and set to launch very soon.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Because in early May, Paired Eyewear held an event where
- 6:32Speaker 2: they previewed Chloe's collection. So the event had a DJ.
- 6:36Speaker 2: It wasn't actually Fisher. It was a different one. But
- 6:38Speaker 2: there were drinks from Chloe's seltzer brand, as well as,
- 6:40Speaker 2: of course, a sneak peek of the collection itself. And
- 6:44Speaker 2: after the event, they provided transport to Chloe's husband's beachside
- 6:47Speaker 2: music festival called Out to Lunch Festival. So it seems
- 6:51Speaker 2: like it was only recently that this was all steam ahead.
- 6:54Speaker 1: This is really awkward for Chloe because she's almost guilty
- 6:56Speaker 1: by association. She's saying, oh, I didn't have anything to
- 6:59Speaker 1: do with the fulfillment issues. But clearly the reason her
- 7:02Speaker 1: followers purchased from the brand is because they trust Chloe.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So in turn, they trusted this brand.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought it was a little bit of a
- 7:08Speaker 2: cop out to say, oh, well, you know, I didn't
- 7:11Speaker 2: have anything to do with that. So I'm kind of
- 7:12Speaker 2: cleaning my hands of it, particularly because she made the
- 7:16Speaker 2: post on her Instagram story, which disappears after 24 hours.
- 7:19Speaker 2: So for a lot of these fans that are still
- 7:21Speaker 2: trying to chase up what is going on with their
- 7:24Speaker 2: sunglasses order, they might not have seen it. There's no
- 7:27Speaker 2: permanent spot on her social media for it. I also
- 7:30Speaker 2: struggled to find photos of her promoting the brand on
- 7:33Speaker 2: both her and paired eyewear's Instagram accounts. I mean, as
- 7:37Speaker 2: I said, the website still had the sunglasses that she
- 7:40Speaker 2: recommended on there. Look, clearly something major has gone on
- 7:43Speaker 2: with this eyewear company and it just shows how careful
- 7:47Speaker 2: influencers need to be when they are aligning their personal
- 7:50Speaker 2: brand to a product because Chloe has done her due
- 7:54Speaker 2: diligence in terms of creating excitement about this launch. She
- 7:58Speaker 2: has worn glasses from this brand for quite some time
- 8:01Speaker 2: and has influenced a lot of people to buy them.
- 8:03Speaker 2: And We're in this space now where we're seeing influencers
- 8:08Speaker 2: actually buying shares into the company. You know, Indy Clinton
- 8:12Speaker 2: this week announced that she was a shareholder in Boof Hair.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Influencers are going all in with these companies, but they
- 8:19Speaker 2: really need to do their research because if the company
- 8:22Speaker 2: has a history of not fulfilling orders, that's not a
- 8:25Speaker 2: company that you want to work with and align your
- 8:27Speaker 2: brand to.
- 8:29Speaker 4: So, like all good love stories, it started on a box.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Olivia Rogers has given her followers what they've been patiently
- 8:38Speaker 1: waiting for. 15 months after hard-launching her new boyfriend, Hugo Brakey,
- 8:43Speaker 1: she has finally spoken in depth about their relationship. In fact,
- 8:47Speaker 1: she invited him on as a guest on her podcast.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I wasn't surprised when I heard Olivia say that Hugo
- 8:53Speaker 2: was the most requested guest on her podcast. When I
- 8:56Speaker 2: saw this interview pop up, I immediately clicked on it
- 8:59Speaker 2: because Ever since she had launched him back in June 2024,
- 9:03Speaker 2: they were actually on the red carpet at the Beauty
- 9:05Speaker 2: and the Beast movie premiere. I was like, I want
- 9:09Speaker 2: to know more about this guy. And to her credit,
- 9:11Speaker 2: for around a year now, she stayed pretty quiet on him.
- 9:14Speaker 2: It's only recently that she's been dropping a few more
- 9:17Speaker 2: details about him. I'm wondering if it's that he's finally
- 9:20Speaker 2: comfortable to be Mr. Rogers.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah, well, it sounds like from what they said in
- 9:24Speaker 1: this podcast that their relationship is very serious. I wouldn't
- 9:27Speaker 1: be surprised if we heard news of an engagement soon.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah, like Olivia dropped that after their first date, she
- 9:32Speaker 2: called her mum and said, I think he's the one.
- 9:35Speaker 2: And apparently he told his roommate that he'd met his
- 9:37Speaker 2: future wife. So it seems like they're the real deal.
- 9:41Speaker 2: And when I was listening to them, I'm like, they
- 9:43Speaker 2: seem perfect for each other.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, because he had very– I want to say
- 9:48Speaker 1: like rich vibes, sort of private school vibes, very well spoken.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he kind of seems like the male version of her.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I was really excited that they opened up more about
- 9:58Speaker 2: how they met because Olivia has previously spoken about how
- 10:01Speaker 2: her former best friend and stylist, Paul Versace, introduced her
- 10:04Speaker 2: to Hugo on a nightclub dance floor. And it was
- 10:07Speaker 2: cool to hear it from Hugo's perspective because he revealed
- 10:10Speaker 2: that he was actually on a Bucks night when he
- 10:12Speaker 2: was approached by Paul and told that he was handsome.
- 10:16Speaker 2: This is what Hugo said.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I was on the dance floor having a bit of
- 10:19Speaker 4: a boogie, which I enjoy doing. It's quite late in
- 10:23Speaker 4: the night. I was probably looking to head home relatively soon.
- 10:27Speaker 4: I like early nights and love my sleep. And while
- 10:32Speaker 4: I was having a boogie, this other gentleman approached me.
- 10:39Speaker 4: And he said, you're handsome, are you single? And my
- 10:42Speaker 4: first reactions were, thank you, mate, but I'm not quite
- 10:46Speaker 4: sure we're interested in the same thing.
- 10:49Speaker 3: He thought he was hitting on you.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. But he quickly made it apparent that, no, no, no,
- 10:57Speaker 4: I've got the perfect girl for you. She's one in
- 11:00Speaker 4: a million. And, I mean, I probably should have straightaway
- 11:05Speaker 4: been like, yeah, that's great, I'll– Please come and introduce
- 11:09Speaker 4: her to me. But I kind of tried to bat
- 11:12Speaker 4: him away. I was like, mate, I'm about to go home.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Don't worry about it.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Thanks, though.
- 11:18Speaker 4: But he was very persistent to, yeah, to great effect.
- 11:23Speaker 4: And he said, wait here, went and grabbed a girl,
- 11:29Speaker 4: which turned out to be you, from the bar and
- 11:33Speaker 4: placed her in front of me.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Can you imagine having some random guy come up to
- 11:37Speaker 2: you on a box and he's trying to set you
- 11:39Speaker 2: up with his friend and you're like, no, no, go away.
- 11:41Speaker 2: And it ends up being former Miss Universe contestant Olivia Rogers.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Well, it sounded like he had no idea who she
- 11:46Speaker 1: actually was.
- 11:47Speaker 2: See, I have my thoughts on that because Olivia said
- 11:49Speaker 2: that she told him she was a speech pathologist and
- 11:51Speaker 2: didn't open up about her job as an influencer because
- 11:54Speaker 2: she thought it might put him off. And he said,
- 11:57Speaker 2: you know, he got home from meeting her and in
- 12:00Speaker 2: the morning he was debriefing with his housemate. And he said, oh, yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 2: she put her name into my phone, you know, as Liv.
- 12:07Speaker 2: He then claimed that Apple somehow has this system where
- 12:13Speaker 2: it populates all their details and it put her full
- 12:16Speaker 2: name in even though she hadn't typed it in. Now,
- 12:19Speaker 2: I have referred to chat GPT. That is not a
- 12:21Speaker 2: function that Apple offers. So I'm calling a bit of
- 12:23Speaker 2: bullshit there. I think he knew who she was. Anyway,
- 12:26Speaker 2: it turns out that the housemate, you know, did some stalking,
- 12:29Speaker 2: found her profile and was like, mate, this is not her.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Surely this is not her.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's because Hugo said he deactivated his Instagram, which
- 12:36Speaker 1: I think is a big tick for him. That is
- 12:38Speaker 1: a green flag. Someone who's not obsessed with their Instagram.
- 12:41Speaker 2: So I originally also thought it was a green flag,
- 12:45Speaker 2: but a friend of mine was telling me about this
- 12:48Speaker 2: guy that they met who didn't have Instagram. And it
- 12:51Speaker 2: turns out that he did have an Instagram account. It
- 12:54Speaker 2: was just under a different name. And he actually was
- 12:57Speaker 2: hiding from her this secret family that he had.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Oh, I think that's very, I mean, I think in
- 13:02Speaker 1: this instance, you can tell that Hugo is a really
- 13:06Speaker 1: nice guy.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Oh, I'm not saying that this is, I'm not saying
- 13:08Speaker 2: at all that this is his circumstances. Don't get me wrong.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I think if you're, I know the person you're talking
- 13:14Speaker 1: about and this person was an athlete and I think
- 13:17Speaker 1: there's a big difference there. I mean, for Olivia, I
- 13:19Speaker 1: think it's good for having dated Morgan Waterhouse, who all
- 13:22Speaker 1: he wanted to do was share Olivia on his TikTok
- 13:24Speaker 1: and he was clearly looked like he was, a bit
- 13:26Speaker 1: of a clout chaser. I'm sorry, Morgan, but that's how
- 13:28Speaker 1: it came across. This is very refreshing for Olivia to
- 13:32Speaker 1: be going out with a guy that doesn't seem focused
- 13:34Speaker 1: on how many likes and followers he has. It's quite
- 13:37Speaker 1: funny because it sounded like they were both extremely intoxicated
- 13:40Speaker 1: when they met because Hugo said it was at the
- 13:42Speaker 1: end of the night and he was about to leave
- 13:45Speaker 1: when Paul came over and said, I'll come and meet
- 13:47Speaker 1: my friend. And they ended up going and speaking in
- 13:50Speaker 1: the smokers area because that was the only place they
- 13:52Speaker 1: could hear each other despite neither of them smoking. And
- 13:55Speaker 1: he said it got to a point where he knew
- 13:58Speaker 1: he had to leave because he slid off the chair.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And it was at that point that they got a
- 14:02Speaker 1: cab home together. They actually shared a sneaky kiss in
- 14:05Speaker 1: the cab and then went their separate ways. He said
- 14:09Speaker 1: he passed out when he got home. I wonder if
- 14:12Speaker 1: he was like, was.
- 14:12Speaker 2: That all a dream?
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, it was a Bucks party.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I loved when they spoke about the housemate's reaction because,
- 14:19Speaker 2: as I said, he quickly conned on to who Olivia was.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And Olivia went on to explain that they now have
- 14:24Speaker 2: nicknamed the housemate Spike from Notting Hill. Let's take a
- 14:28Speaker 2: listen to what she said.
- 14:31Speaker 3: We ended up nicknaming him Spike because he would joke
- 14:35Speaker 3: about the fact that our love story was like Notting
- 14:39Speaker 3: Hill and– You were Hugh Grant and I was Julia
- 14:44Speaker 3: Roberts and he was the weird housemate.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Who comes out in his jocks to the paps. I
- 14:52Speaker 2: love that movie and it made me laugh but I
- 14:54Speaker 2: also was like, oh, it would have been funnier if
- 14:57Speaker 2: the story came from Hugo because there was something about
- 15:00Speaker 2: Olivia comparing herself to an A-list movie star that was like, oh,
- 15:03Speaker 2: I don't know if you should, like don't you say
- 15:05Speaker 2: that out loud.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Look, I know it could have come across as being
- 15:08Speaker 1: a bit like into herself. But let's be honest, we're
- 15:12Speaker 1: literally talking about her on a podcast, you know.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and her breakup was covered in the Herald Sun. Exactly.
- 15:18Speaker 1: She is big in Australia. And I love that it's Hugo.
- 15:22Speaker 1: He's been compared to Hugh Grant. He did have Hugh
- 15:24Speaker 1: Grant vibes. I get it.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Well, the references to her celebrity status didn't end there
- 15:29Speaker 2: because on their first date, for some reason, they decided
- 15:33Speaker 2: to catch up at 7.30 on a Monday morning at
- 15:35Speaker 2: a coffee shop. I said like, hell, that's my absolute nightmare.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And Olivier said that she actually looks kind of puffy
- 15:42Speaker 2: in the morning. So she kept her sunnies on. And
- 15:46Speaker 2: Hugo said that he thought that she was doing it
- 15:49Speaker 2: because she didn't want to get papped out.
- 15:52Speaker 1: This is giving me more green flags for Hugo because
- 15:54Speaker 1: he seems really cute and that he doesn't understand anything
- 15:57Speaker 1: about how the paparazzi work. Like they're not just randomly
- 16:00Speaker 1: papping Olivia Rogers out. She'd have to organize that with
- 16:03Speaker 1: the paparazzi.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Well, at least she didn't call the paps to her
- 16:06Speaker 2: first date, like other influencers that have done that. Amy,
- 16:10Speaker 2: you were talking about Hugo being confused, but was it
- 16:13Speaker 2: only me that was confused when he was explaining what
- 16:16Speaker 2: his job was? Because he said he is a management
- 16:20Speaker 2: consultant and he has a background in chemical engineering, which
- 16:23Speaker 2: sounds very impressive. And then he did this whole spiel
- 16:26Speaker 2: about what he does. And I still didn't get it.
- 16:29Speaker 2: And it turns out Olivia is the same. So she
- 16:31Speaker 2: said that she had to get him to explain his
- 16:34Speaker 2: job twice to her so she could actually relay that
- 16:36Speaker 2: information to her mum later on.
- 16:38Speaker 1: It gave massive Chandler Bing vibes. Like nobody obviously knew
- 16:42Speaker 1: what Chandler's job was. I think it's one of those
- 16:44Speaker 1: jobs that you kind of just nod and go, oh, okay, yep.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it sounded really important because recently he's been flying
- 16:51Speaker 2: back to Perth every week working on a special project.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Olivia summarized it saying he's a professional problem solver. As
- 16:58Speaker 2: we were saying before, it does seem like they're a
- 16:59Speaker 2: perfect fit based on my parasocial relationship with Olivia.
- 17:03Speaker 6: You approve.
- 17:03Speaker 2: He came across, I do approve, he came across as
- 17:06Speaker 2: really emotionally mature and I was taken aback when he
- 17:11Speaker 2: bravely spoke about losing his dad to suicide when he
- 17:14Speaker 2: was in year 12. So his dad was an anaesthetist
- 17:17Speaker 2: and he said that they lived this picture perfect life
- 17:20Speaker 2: in an affluent area near the beach. And it really
- 17:22Speaker 2: went to show that you can seemingly have everything, but
- 17:25Speaker 2: if your mental health isn't good, then it doesn't really
- 17:28Speaker 2: make a difference.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Considering this is Hugo's first time really in the public eye,
- 17:33Speaker 1: it was great that he shared that story. And I
- 17:34Speaker 1: think it gave a lot more insight into who he
- 17:37Speaker 1: is as a person.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:38Speaker 2: It was a real turning point in the interview because
- 17:41Speaker 2: they were speaking, you know, joking around about how they
- 17:43Speaker 2: met and It gave a lot more depth into who
- 17:47Speaker 2: he is and why they're so well suited because they're
- 17:50Speaker 2: both so passionate about mental health. It surprised me to
- 17:54Speaker 2: hear that Hugo actually used to play in the Waffle
- 17:57Speaker 2: and that he'd wanted to become an AFL player because
- 17:59Speaker 2: I didn't get that vibe at all when he spoke
- 18:01Speaker 2: about his job. Now, the Waffle is the Western Australian
- 18:04Speaker 2: Football League, Amy. It's not a dessert for anyone wondering,
- 18:07Speaker 2: but look, I wasn't surprised because I remember when they
- 18:12Speaker 2: first started dating, I did a bit of a stalk
- 18:15Speaker 2: and I think I came across his LinkedIn and an
- 18:17Speaker 2: article about him and it said something about him playing
- 18:20Speaker 2: footy and he kind of gives me footy vibes. Like
- 18:22Speaker 2: he's a good looking guy and, you know, he went
- 18:25Speaker 2: to an affluent private school. They always seem to get
- 18:27Speaker 2: them into footy. It did surprise me that he was
- 18:30Speaker 2: trying to play AFL though and that he stopped his,
- 18:34Speaker 2: you know, footy career when he was, you know, early
- 18:36Speaker 2: twenties to go do this graduate job. It sounds like
- 18:39Speaker 2: he got a lot of injuries and had to give
- 18:41Speaker 2: footy up.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Well, fun fact, he also plays the bagpipes and the trumpet.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Which- Another surprising inclusion.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Which I did say he was giving rich vibes. That
- 18:52Speaker 1: really gives almost like royal family vibes, the fact that
- 18:55Speaker 1: he can play the bagpipes.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a little bit random. I mean, he
- 18:58Speaker 2: did mention that his father was from the UK and
- 19:01Speaker 2: his mum was from New Zealand, which again surprised me
- 19:03Speaker 2: because his accent, like he had a private school twang.
- 19:07Speaker 2: But then he'd say stuff that was very awkward as well.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Well, as soon as he said his mum was from
- 19:12Speaker 1: New Zealand, suddenly I could hear something. I was like, oh, okay.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Did you think at one point they were trying to
- 19:18Speaker 2: throw a bit of shade at Olivia's ex-husband, Justin McKeon?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Because Olivia said she knew her listeners would be upset
- 19:23Speaker 2: if she didn't ask Hugo about how he felt about
- 19:25Speaker 2: her being divorced. And he went on to say that
- 19:28Speaker 2: he had a lot of respect about how brave she
- 19:29Speaker 2: was to make that decision and it really didn't impact
- 19:32Speaker 2: their relationship at all. But then she goes, oh, well,
- 19:36Speaker 2: I suppose it impacted our relationship for me because I'm
- 19:39Speaker 2: trying to navigate this new relationship after being in this
- 19:43Speaker 2: very toxic one. And she spoke about how her psychologist
- 19:46Speaker 2: told her that perhaps Hugo and her could heal together.
- 19:50Speaker 2: And then Hugo was like, I've learned things that help
- 19:53Speaker 2: Olivia feel more comfortable. For example, I text her to
- 19:56Speaker 2: make sure she knows if I'm going to be late
- 19:58Speaker 2: home because I know it was really triggering for Olivia
- 20:01Speaker 2: after an incident and I was.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Like, oh, what was the incident? Well, I wondered if
- 20:05Speaker 1: that was shade at Morgan Waterhouse.
- 20:07Speaker 2: No, I think it was very much shade at Justin.
- 20:09Speaker 2: She was talking about this very toxic relationship and that's
- 20:13Speaker 2: very much how she's spoken about her marriage to Justin.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Well, last week, Olivia shared this TikTok that went viral.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw it, Kate, but it
- 20:19Speaker 1: was one of those photo posts and she was explaining, well,
- 20:21Speaker 1: she was opening up about their relationship and how they
- 20:24Speaker 1: met and And how she never thought after leaving her
- 20:28Speaker 1: marriage that she would end up in such a healthy relationship.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I mean, you could tell how healthy it is. I
- 20:34Speaker 2: was actually having a little bit of a look back
- 20:36Speaker 2: at the timeline because it seems like it was just
- 20:38Speaker 2: yesterday that she debuted him on her Instagram. But they've
- 20:42Speaker 2: actually been living together for a year now. And as
- 20:45Speaker 2: I mentioned in the intro, she hard launched him in
- 20:47Speaker 2: June 2024. In the podcast, she said they met in
- 20:51Speaker 2: December 2023.
- 20:51Speaker 4: So....
- 20:53Speaker 2: They're nearly celebrating their two-year anniversary.
- 20:56Speaker 1: That seems crazy because it doesn't seem like that long
- 20:59Speaker 1: ago that she was dating Morgan.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Well, to give you an update on that timeline, it
- 21:03Speaker 2: was only in December 2023 that she announced that she
- 21:06Speaker 2: was single and had broken up with Morgan Waterhouse. So
- 21:09Speaker 2: that was the same month that she met Hugo. It
- 21:12Speaker 2: seems like they'd been broken up for a while though,
- 21:13Speaker 2: ever since they got back from Bali in August 2023.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Let's call that relationship what it was, a rebound.
- 21:20Speaker 5: I feel sick, I'm so dead. I, wait, I don't
- 21:24Speaker 5: know how to say it.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Right here, I have my cookbook.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to open it and see if otherwise I.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Queensland influencer Sophie Jane Miller has revealed her soon-to-be-released cookbook
- 21:33Speaker 2: has already topped the Booktopia charts. The book, entitled Simply Scrumptious,
- 21:38Speaker 2: is currently on pre-sale for $ 54. 95, with it officially dropping
- 21:42Speaker 2: on the 17th of November.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I have been waiting for the release of this book
- 21:46Speaker 1: since Sophie first vlogged about it back in May of 2024.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I actually wondered if it was still going ahead because
- 21:54Speaker 1: it has been such a long wait.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Well, in terms of influencer cookbooks, I've only got Sarah's
- 21:58Speaker 2: Days released to compare it to. And I think she
- 22:00Speaker 2: was working on that for around three years. So maybe
- 22:03Speaker 2: it's not that long.
- 22:04Speaker 1: What's interesting, you mentioned Sarah, because Sophie and Sarah share
- 22:07Speaker 1: the same publisher. So Brio Books published both of their
- 22:10Speaker 1: cookbooks and they were actually acquired by Booktopia in 2021.
- 22:15Speaker 1: And Booktopia went into voluntary administration in July 2024. It
- 22:20Speaker 1: was right after Sarah's Day's book got published. And last year,
- 22:25Speaker 1: it was bought by Shaden Kajan, who owns DigiDirect. So
- 22:29Speaker 1: I'm guessing that maybe this new management and restructuring is
- 22:32Speaker 1: what has affected the release of Sophie's book.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Well, that all makes sense. I mean, it doesn't seem
- 22:36Speaker 2: to have had much of an impact on the success
- 22:38Speaker 2: of this book so far. As you said, it's hit
- 22:40Speaker 2: number one on the Booktopia charts. It's always interesting to
- 22:43Speaker 2: me when an influencer like Sophie Jane Miller releases something
- 22:46Speaker 2: because she's not like one of the biggest influencers in Australia.
- 22:50Speaker 2: She's got 100K on Instagram. She's got 300K on YouTube.
- 22:55Speaker 2: But clearly her followers are very loyal and committed because
- 22:58Speaker 2: it's a pretty big feat to go number one.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Well, I was a bit concerned for Sophie because she's
- 23:02Speaker 1: one of my favourite influencers at the moment. And I
- 23:05Speaker 1: was worried that because it had been such a long
- 23:08Speaker 1: time between her making this book and it being sold
- 23:11Speaker 1: that that it might not resonate as well with her
- 23:13Speaker 1: audience because she's really moved somewhat away from sharing about
- 23:17Speaker 1: health and fitness and cooking. She's now better known as
- 23:20Speaker 1: being a book talker. She talks a lot about matcha.
- 23:23Speaker 1: She's got her own matcha line, but it really goes
- 23:25Speaker 1: to show, as you said, the power of having such
- 23:27Speaker 1: an engaged audience.
- 23:29Speaker 2: I wonder how established cookbook authors feel when something like
- 23:31Speaker 2: this happens, because we've only just gone through the whole
- 23:35Speaker 2: shit storm with Brookie Bakes and Nagi. Not saying anything
- 23:39Speaker 2: like that is going to happen off the back of
- 23:40Speaker 2: Sophie's book, but it does seem like influencers are really
- 23:43Speaker 2: dominating the book charts. I mean, Sarah's Day's cookbook was
- 23:46Speaker 2: also number one on Booktopia. Just recently, Steph Pace released
- 23:51Speaker 2: her book. That was number one on a different book chart.
- 23:54Speaker 2: So obviously this ability to pre-release a book and have
- 23:58Speaker 2: orders come in from a dedicated audience off the back
- 24:02Speaker 2: really helps these books.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Well, it's kind of the new version of all the
- 24:05Speaker 1: celebrity biographies. There's this inbuilt audience to sell to, and
- 24:10Speaker 1: it makes a lot of sense for these publishers to
- 24:12Speaker 1: be working with influencers because of that inbuilt audience.
- 24:16Speaker 3: First is this adorable green bear iced matcha latte.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Sydney Cafe, The Orange Lantern, has been called out after
- 24:22Speaker 2: allegedly enforcing an influencer-only glassware rule. The cafe had been
- 24:26Speaker 2: promoting its Insta-worthy drinks across social media in the lead-up
- 24:30Speaker 2: to its new store opening in Haymarket. A big part
- 24:33Speaker 2: of the attraction was its matcha offering, which appeared in
- 24:36Speaker 2: a stunning curved glass featuring a matcha teddy bear inside.
- 24:40Speaker 1: These drinks were so aesthetically pleasing and They were a
- 24:43Speaker 1: big part of why people wanted to go along to
- 24:46Speaker 1: this cafe launch. Everyone wanted to snap a photo of
- 24:48Speaker 1: this glass.
- 24:49Speaker 2: It reminds me of that Cafe 56 one. I don't
- 24:51Speaker 2: know if it's just an Adelaide thing.
- 24:53Speaker 1: We had a couple of them here and you'd have
- 24:55Speaker 1: lineups out the door because people all wanted to take
- 24:58Speaker 1: a photo of them with this like, it was a
- 25:00Speaker 1: milkshake and it just had stuff hanging off. It had
- 25:02Speaker 1: like a donut and whipped cream.
- 25:04Speaker 2: It was just ridiculous. Like you couldn't even get through
- 25:06Speaker 2: it all.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Well, this is the opposite of that because everyone wants
- 25:09Speaker 1: a matcha now to see if they're being really healthy.
- 25:11Speaker 1: And to celebrate the launch, this cafe came up with
- 25:14Speaker 1: this promotion where you could get 50% off your drink
- 25:18Speaker 1: if you're one of the first 100 customers. And just
- 25:21Speaker 1: to give you an idea, a coconut ice matcha from
- 25:23Speaker 1: here will cost you $ 16. For one drink? Yeah, for
- 25:28Speaker 1: one drink. So these girls went along to the launch
- 25:32Speaker 1: and they were really disappointed because they were expecting these
- 25:35Speaker 1: beautiful glasses to come out and they were served their
- 25:38Speaker 1: matcha in plastic cups. To make matters worse, they looked
- 25:42Speaker 1: behind them and there was a group of influencers there
- 25:45Speaker 1: and they received theirs in the fancy cups. And to
- 25:49Speaker 1: make matters even worse, the influencers didn't even drink their matches.
- 25:53Speaker 1: So they just left them on the table.
- 25:55Speaker 2: And these girls- Did they take a photo of them?
- 25:57Speaker 1: Well, you must have. So these girls complained to the
- 25:59Speaker 1: staff and said, well, why did we get plastic cups
- 26:01Speaker 1: and they get the fancy ones? And they said, well,
- 26:04Speaker 1: they're only for influencers. If you wanted a glass cup,
- 26:07Speaker 1: You should have rung up in advance to say that
- 26:09Speaker 1: you'd be reviewing the matcha.
- 26:11Speaker 2: That is false advertising. And I actually think that the
- 26:15Speaker 2: glass a drink is served in has the ability to
- 26:18Speaker 2: enhance the taste. So I am a Coke Zero connoisseur.
- 26:22Speaker 2: And firstly, I hate post-mix. It has to be a
- 26:25Speaker 2: Coke from either a can or a glass bottle. And
- 26:28Speaker 2: I like to have it in a very cold glass.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Pellet ice, Amy, we've spoken about that, is the preferable
- 26:34Speaker 2: option to make it extra crispy.
- 26:36Speaker 4: But.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I feel like the matcha wouldn't have tasted as good
- 26:39Speaker 2: in the plastic glass.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but the whole point is you're going to this
- 26:42Speaker 1: Instagram-worthy cafe to take a picture of your Instagram-worthy drink.
- 26:48Speaker 1: You don't want it in a fucking plastic cup.
- 26:51Speaker 2: They're like, oh, here you go, plebs.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Here's your plastic cup.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Get out.
- 26:54Speaker 1: And it's really stupid because we now know with the
- 26:57Speaker 1: nature of TikTok, videos will go viral. You can be
- 27:00Speaker 1: anybody and have a video go viral. So it was
- 27:04Speaker 1: a really silly move.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Well, it's backfired on them because the complaints gone viral.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Yeah. So the cafe received so much backlash that they
- 27:10Speaker 1: were forced to put out a statement and it was
- 27:12Speaker 1: a pretty good statement. They apologized for the move and
- 27:15Speaker 1: they basically said the reason that they did it was
- 27:17Speaker 1: because they wanted to serve the customers faster due to
- 27:20Speaker 1: their 50% of promotion. And they said, we didn't just
- 27:23Speaker 1: give away 100 drinks. We actually ended up serving drinks
- 27:27Speaker 1: that were 50% off up until 3pm. And they said
- 27:30Speaker 1: they've now gone back to serving the drinks in their
- 27:32Speaker 1: cute cups.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Okay. Well, it seems to have been a bit of
- 27:35Speaker 2: a supply and demand thing and they were trying to
- 27:37Speaker 2: keep everyone happy, but I think they should have briefed
- 27:38Speaker 2: their staff to actually communicate with people better than saying, oh,
- 27:41Speaker 2: we didn't get the glass because you're not in the floor.
- 27:43Speaker 1: But the issue is if it was a supply and
- 27:45Speaker 1: demand issue, then everybody should have been given the plastic cups.
- 27:49Speaker 5: There was one who behaved so badly that I really
- 27:52Speaker 5: want to message them and say, Fucking you are about
- 27:56Speaker 5: to have your pedestal tipped, my friend.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Author and social commentator Kate Forster has dropped some juicy
- 28:03Speaker 1: details about the recent influencer event held by Chemist Warehouse,
- 28:07Speaker 1: declaring she was embarrassed for some of the influencers in
- 28:10Speaker 1: attendance due to their antics.
- 28:13Speaker 2: So the way Chemist Warehouse did it was they opened
- 28:15Speaker 2: up the event to influencers on the Friday and then
- 28:17Speaker 2: to the general public on the Saturday. Kate was at
- 28:20Speaker 2: both of the days and she actually recorded two live
- 28:23Speaker 2: podcasts on the Saturday. And it turns out someone spilt
- 28:26Speaker 2: some serious tea to her about the influences in attendance.
- 28:29Speaker 2: So she didn't disclose who it was. But reading between
- 28:33Speaker 2: the lines, it seems like it was some of the
- 28:34Speaker 2: staff in attendance. This is what she said.
- 28:37Speaker 5: Fucking loose lips sink ships, man. People will tell you stuff.
- 28:42Speaker 5: And if you have behaved badly, I know about it.
- 28:45Speaker 5: I know why people want to tell me shit.
- 28:48Speaker 4: I love it.
- 28:49Speaker 5: Tell me everything. I want to know. I want to know. Anyway,
- 28:53Speaker 5: who was great? Who was shit? Who was a brat?
- 28:57Speaker 5: Who fucking wanted to leave after 40 minutes because it
- 28:59Speaker 5: was a little bit boring? Who walked in, ignored everyone,
- 29:04Speaker 5: did a photo shoot and walked out again? Like, who
- 29:07Speaker 5: fucking gave extra? Who fucking showed up and would talk
- 29:11Speaker 5: to anyone like a normal person? I've got all the
- 29:13Speaker 5: fucking names. But Jesus Christ, who were the fucking influencers
- 29:19Speaker 5: who stayed after they'd closed and was running around the
- 29:21Speaker 5: shelves grabbing shit off? and putting it in their bags
- 29:24Speaker 5: and having to be told off who were the people
- 29:27Speaker 5: who were trying to get their fucking three and five
- 29:29Speaker 5: year old who they'd taken as plus ones extra bags
- 29:34Speaker 5: extra fucking goodie bags like the fucking grabbiness of it
- 29:38Speaker 5: man I'm embarrassed for you. I'm so embarrassed.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Fuck, she is funny. I would be absolutely quaking in
- 29:47Speaker 1: my boots if I was one of these badly behaved influencers.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Oh, I just want to know who it is. We
- 29:54Speaker 2: do know who it wasn't because Poor Olivia White. She
- 29:57Speaker 2: got caught up in all of this drama. People were like,
- 29:59Speaker 2: hang on, she was at the event and she had
- 30:01Speaker 2: kids there. It must have been her.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's because she shared a haul on TikTok of
- 30:05Speaker 1: what she got in the goodie bag and her two
- 30:07Speaker 1: kids were watching on like absolutely loving every minute of it.
- 30:10Speaker 1: It was like it was Christmas time. I couldn't believe
- 30:13Speaker 1: how many products they got given. It was crazy.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Well, spoiler alert, it wasn't Olivia White. Let's take a
- 30:19Speaker 2: listen to what she said.
- 30:21Speaker 6: Overnight, my video... just like sharing the chemist warehouse event
- 30:26Speaker 6: and like what was in our goodie bag, um, has
- 30:30Speaker 6: like blown up. And now I have a whole bunch
- 30:31Speaker 6: of people asking me, um, if I was like the
- 30:35Speaker 6: influencer that Kate was talking about or like, did.
- 30:38Speaker 4: My daughter get a goodie bag?
- 30:40Speaker 6: Um, No, I don't think so. My daughter did not
- 30:46Speaker 6: take a goodie bag. She was offered one very nicely
- 30:50Speaker 6: by the lovely gentleman at the door as we left,
- 30:52Speaker 6: but I said no. She doesn't need one and that
- 30:55Speaker 6: was not my intention of taking her. We were just
- 30:58Speaker 6: having a girls day out because she's 12 and that
- 31:00Speaker 6: was really cool for her. I also did not run
- 31:03Speaker 6: around and just grab a whole bunch of stuff as
- 31:07Speaker 6: some people are accusing me of. In fact, I actually
- 31:11Speaker 6: get my goodie bag away. I get my goodie bag
- 31:13Speaker 6: away every year. I've been for the last five years.
- 31:14Speaker 6: I did a little giveaway on my page. It's already
- 31:17Speaker 6: been sent to the person and donated some of the
- 31:20Speaker 6: sort of like, yeah, core products. Not that I make
- 31:22Speaker 6: a big deal about it, but I don't think Kate
- 31:24Speaker 6: was talking about me.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Now, Kate ended up backing up Olivia's claims in the
- 31:28Speaker 2: comment section of her post, and she's also released a
- 31:31Speaker 2: new TikTok where she's given further details about the influences
- 31:35Speaker 2: she had positive interactions with.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Laura DeSantis, I think her name was. Fucking cracker. What
- 31:44Speaker 5: a great chick.
- 31:45Speaker 6: She's on Instagram. Tops.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Nikia Joy. I had no idea who she was.
- 31:50Speaker 4: I had no idea.
- 31:51Speaker 5: I had a lovely chat to her. I thought, well,
- 31:53Speaker 5: Nikia's a lovely name. Really nice person. Moana Hope.
- 31:56Speaker 4: Hilarious.
- 31:58Speaker 5: Really good, Val. Influencer Updates girl, Amber. She was really lovely.
- 32:04Speaker 5: We talked about the burger that she was about to eat.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Tammy Hembrough. She was there with her sister, Amy. Very nice.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Had a photo. Don't know why.
- 32:14Speaker 6: I'm a nobody.
- 32:16Speaker 2: I love that Amber from Influencer Updates has gotten a
- 32:18Speaker 2: shout out there. We had Amber on our podcast and
- 32:20Speaker 2: she is an absolute delight.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Oh, Tammy Hembrough.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I was glad about her too.
- 32:24Speaker 1: My favourite part of Kate's story was the fact that
- 32:27Speaker 1: she mistaken Emmy Lou for a member of staff at
- 32:30Speaker 1: the event. So she walked up to her. She said
- 32:32Speaker 1: she was wearing a tracksuit and she's like, oh, so
- 32:34Speaker 1: where do I go to find the podcast stage? And
- 32:37Speaker 1: Kate's daughter was there and she's like, mum, that was
- 32:40Speaker 1: Emmy Lou.
- 32:40Speaker 2: And she's like, Emmy who? It sounds like Emmy Lou
- 32:43Speaker 2: took it quite well. Pretty awkward though for Kate because
- 32:46Speaker 2: Emmy has her own perfume line with Chemist Warehouse. So
- 32:49Speaker 2: I'm guessing that there might have been some promo with
- 32:51Speaker 2: her photo on it there. Let's get into our Friday debrief.
- 32:55Speaker 2: We've got some podcast news. Sophie is officially back on Tuesday.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Yes, very exciting for Sophie. I think she's been climbing
- 33:01Speaker 1: the walls, so she's very excited to come back on
- 33:04Speaker 1: the podcast. It means Sophie and I will now be
- 33:06Speaker 1: doing week on, week off. I mean, Kate, I think
- 33:09Speaker 1: you're most happy for Sophie's return in a heated moment
- 33:11Speaker 1: that didn't make it on the air. You said that
- 33:14Speaker 1: you're kind of looking forward to me leaving.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Look, I mean, we've been doing this together, what, now
- 33:18Speaker 2: for nearly 12 weeks, just the two of us. I
- 33:21Speaker 2: think this always happens. So it might be like a
- 33:23Speaker 2: breath of fresh air going one week on, one week
- 33:25Speaker 2: off with each of you.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you can hate on me one week and then
- 33:29Speaker 1: hate on Soph.
- 33:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Well, it's just we all have very different ways of working.
- 33:32Speaker 2: And I suppose when you're working on a podcast together
- 33:36Speaker 2: and it's an opinion-based podcast, you're going to clash. So
- 33:38Speaker 2: it's just normal.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Wasn't that our old promo for the podcast? Like, and
- 33:41Speaker 1: sometimes things can get heated.
- 33:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Well, I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow because it's the
- 33:46Speaker 2: first day the three of us are going out together
- 33:49Speaker 2: without our children and To do something for the podcast.
- 33:53Speaker 6: Yes.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I don't want to be that asshole that's teasing things,
- 33:56Speaker 2: but I'm going to be because we've got an exciting
- 33:59Speaker 2: shoot on tomorrow.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Spoiler alert, it isn't a candle like Kick released.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be funny if we were releasing our own
- 34:06Speaker 2: range of weird smelling candles?
- 34:07Speaker 1: I've already got a perfect one. We could do one
- 34:10Speaker 1: based on the smell of Lily Brown's pyjamas. That was
- 34:13Speaker 1: a story a few years ago, the smelly PJs.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It would be funny to come up with what we
- 34:16Speaker 2: think influencers smell like because with Tammy Hembrough, I reckon
- 34:20Speaker 2: she would have The smell of the ocean. She always
- 34:23Speaker 2: seems to be down at the beach.
- 34:24Speaker 3: It's terrible.
- 34:25Speaker 1: It's terrible. I don't know if you've seen this TikTok
- 34:27Speaker 1: or maybe this is just my very immature algorithm, but
- 34:30Speaker 1: there are these videos where people post photos of their
- 34:32Speaker 1: teachers from school and they play a farting noise in
- 34:36Speaker 1: the background saying, I bet this is what their fart
- 34:38Speaker 1: sounds like. And I said to you that would be
- 34:40Speaker 1: hilarious to do for influencers, but I didn't know if
- 34:42Speaker 1: it was offensive. I was like, is this too mean?
- 34:45Speaker 2: I think that's pretty mean, but it was hilarious. And
- 34:48Speaker 2: it's that weird thing where you're like, why does this
- 34:49Speaker 2: make so much sense? It did. Look, I think we're
- 34:52Speaker 2: going to wrap things up there now that we're talking
- 34:54Speaker 2: about farts. Before we go, though, if you do want
- 34:57Speaker 2: to hear more from us, not about farts, but just
- 34:59Speaker 2: about influencers, we have our subs episode, which we release
- 35:03Speaker 2: every Thursday, which is basically an extension of this show.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And if you did enjoy the episode, we would really
- 35:08Speaker 1: love if you could leave us a five-star review because
- 35:11Speaker 1: it really helps out the show. This episode was recorded
- 35:14Speaker 1: on the traditional land of the Kaurna people of the
- 35:16Speaker 1: Adelaide Plains. We pay respect to elders past and present.
