- 0:01A rottachuva shear #8. If perchance you missed
- 0:06yesterday, shear, go back and listen to it, because it's the
- 0:08introduction to two different aspects of the sugar in time.
- 0:13There's the spontaneous sugar that just grabs you, grips you
- 0:16from nowhere, and you're transformed.
- 0:18And then there's the gradual sugar that go back and have a
- 0:21listen. I think many of us would love to
- 0:23be in that first category, that lightning bolt that illuminates
- 0:27your mind and just changes you pretty much.
- 0:29Like would like to lose weight, and just the thought of losing
- 0:31weight should make all those pounds just disappear.
- 0:35But we do know. We recognize the fact that it's
- 0:37the gradual to sugar, the one that causes the person to slowly
- 0:42but surely conquer the things that are dragging him down and
- 0:45allows him to change. The process is slow, needs
- 0:49patience, but eventually he will get there.
- 0:54And pretty much using this analogy of a diet, you go on a
- 0:58different pathway to schedule, to schedule your overweight
- 1:02problems and you don't see it. You don't see the day-to-day,
- 1:05the slight change. But over time it makes a
- 1:08difference. And you suddenly find in fact
- 1:09your clothes are fitting you better and you're healthier,
- 1:11etcetera, etcetera. This is what happens in gradual
- 1:14sugar and it's not as exciting. You want it to just be.
- 1:17I've done it. Look at me.
- 1:17I'm a big sad Dick. I'm righteous.
- 1:19I'm holy might want now, but it's not going to happen.
- 1:24The person who experiences sudden to Shiva is overwhelmed
- 1:26by a great spirit and cannot understand how his friends fail
- 1:30to see the truth. The fact you can become quite
- 1:32irritating if you've experienced the sudden sure because you
- 1:34expect it from everybody else. But it's not realistic because
- 1:37it's happened to you, because some quality of the soul, some
- 1:39inspiration has gripped you. But it's not something one can
- 1:42demand from every single person in gradual.
- 1:44To Shiva, Ju remains very much connected to his past and his
- 1:47old friends. He's trying to extricate himself
- 1:50from the negative influences of his past.
- 1:53Gradual trivia is a life of struggle, which also makes it
- 1:57seem very unappealing. Who wants to struggle for life?
- 2:01But ultimately a person engaged in the struggle reaches a place
- 2:04of refinement and repair. And it could just be that it's
- 2:10the length of struggle that makes it more real.
- 2:13It makes it more permanent as a long lasting change of lifestyle
- 2:17completely. There's a beautiful teaching not
- 2:21from Rov cook from the cot Garobi.
- 2:23He says Why is in the Shima? We say the word shall be al
- 2:26Lavava on your heart. What doesn't this?
- 2:28Why does the verse say upon your heart?
- 2:31It should say in your heart. Sure it should penetrate.
- 2:34The answer is that often a person's heart is too hard to
- 2:36accept the words of Tora, to accept the words of friends who
- 2:40were trying to help you to change.
- 2:42They are always there, but the heart is not always able to
- 2:45receive them. When the heart cracks then the
- 2:47words fall in. That's what happens in the
- 2:51gradual to Shiva. Slowly, slowly Hachuva ha
- 2:56eleona. But Imma have Rakashira tova
- 2:58clali. This higher level to Shiva
- 3:01really means sudden to Shiva comes from a lightning flash.
- 3:06It can't be explained logically because it's the result of a
- 3:09mysterious inner spiritual process that's happening.
- 3:13We're to try and understand it because this is so beautiful.
- 3:19A person who's going through this process of sudden to Shiva
- 3:23senses suddenly that they are part of something so much bigger
- 3:28than them and how can they possibly want to be separate
- 3:32from it? Many people who have gone
- 3:34through A to Shiva process and have moved from not being
- 3:37practicing or less practicing to wanting to live a full Jewish
- 3:43life have often sensed that power.
- 3:46And they've been on a Sharpaton. They've been on a trip away.
- 3:49They suddenly think, you know what, I'm so isolated as me and
- 3:52this movement. This is what this Judaism that
- 3:54I'm being exposed to makes me feel part of some something so
- 3:58much bigger. A person involved in something
- 4:00should have viewed it as something great and all
- 4:02inclusive. It's not a personal struggle,
- 4:05but it's something you feel connected to everything.
- 4:07And when you feel connected to everything and connected to the
- 4:10good, ultimately that's in the world, as the Tara says, Ashram
- 4:13finished the creation story. It's Tov my odd, It's all good.
- 4:17Why wouldn't you want to be a part of that Tov my odd of that
- 4:22goodness? Who wants to be outside looking
- 4:26in on the good when you can be part of that process?
- 4:30The person who experienced the Southern Sugar can't tolerate
- 4:32the feelings of being a fragment torn away from a greater
- 4:36expansive reality. Let's leave it here for today.
- 4:39Have a very lovely day.
