- 0:58Speaker 1: and all of a sudden an act.
- 1:01Speaker 2: In Butlegs Kivs Boulet Kivs friend simbas.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Man. Everything is good. I'm not gonna lie. I haven't
- 1:11Speaker 1: watched the movie yet.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It's fine. It just hit stream. You could check it out.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So my boy Cook is from Pittsburgh obviously Newark, oh
- 1:19Speaker 1: my bad. I know, were from a place that had
- 1:23Speaker 1: the name of a city from the East coast that's
- 1:24Speaker 1: near Newark, California. By and he hated the movie.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Really, you said it wasn't good? Really? What what didn't
- 1:38Speaker 2: you like about?
- 1:38Speaker 1: He said he didn't think there was any real acting
- 1:40Speaker 1: until Pedro Pascal came on the screen.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Wow, that definitely sound like a buleg kiv t.
- 1:47Speaker 1: No, I didn't see it, he just said this. I
- 1:50Speaker 1: appreciate him lying though, but look, when you decide like
- 1:54Speaker 1: obviously playing too shorts gotta be fucking an honor of
- 1:58Speaker 1: all honors. And you also like, I never saw the resemblance. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:03Speaker 1: until and I was like, oh ship, like y'all.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Really yeah, well they kind of made it that way too,
- 2:08Speaker 2: with the teeth and the makeup and the hat to
- 2:10Speaker 2: close everything. Oh yeah, I mean yeah, So you know
- 2:14Speaker 2: we all know Short grew up with him. My whole
- 2:16Speaker 2: life been around him. So I knew his mannerisms, how
- 2:19Speaker 2: he walk out, you talk, everything, so that plays a
- 2:22Speaker 2: big part in it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Is they have to get permission from him on who
- 2:25Speaker 1: was going to play him Yeah, and he was like, yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 1: of course.
- 2:28Speaker 2: But I think the thing was because the way I
- 2:31Speaker 2: got the call, I had just got off the Jordan
- 2:33Speaker 2: Lucas tour. This was back when I was dropping music.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yes, I don't know, but yeah, that was when you're
- 2:41Speaker 1: opening up for Join. Yeah.
- 2:44Speaker 2: So I had got the call when I was on
- 2:46Speaker 2: the tour and they was like, yo, it's this movie.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It's a barrier based film. They're looking for somebody to
- 2:52Speaker 2: play Too Short. So I'm like, okay, I'm like send it.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Send it.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Through the lyrics that they wanted me to audition with
- 3:00Speaker 2: fight the feeling, I guess it was like people was
- 3:02Speaker 2: having songs yeah yeah, yeah, I see you walking down
- 3:07Speaker 2: the street. So I had to stop and I knew
- 3:10Speaker 2: that song like top to bottom. So I literally just
- 3:13Speaker 2: did my best too Short impression and rapped the song
- 3:16Speaker 2: to the camera, and like four days later they called me, wow,
- 3:19Speaker 2: and I got the row.
- 3:20Speaker 1: That's big yeah yeah. And then do you call too
- 3:22Speaker 1: Short and say hey, yeah?
- 3:24Speaker 2: So I hit him up and I was like, I
- 3:26Speaker 2: got the role.
- 3:27Speaker 1: He was like I know.
- 3:29Speaker 2: And I was like, how you want me to represent this?
- 3:31Speaker 2: Like how you want me to do it? And he
- 3:33Speaker 2: sent me four videos, like four of his early music
- 3:37Speaker 2: videos and an interview. He was like, just embody this energy,
- 3:41Speaker 2: that's what they want on camera. And I just you know,
- 3:43Speaker 2: watched the videos and.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah, because like eighties, early nineties two short, it's a
- 3:47Speaker 1: whole different.
- 3:48Speaker 2: It's so different, even like rapping some of those lyrics,
- 3:52Speaker 2: like on stage it was kind of comfortable.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Bit yeah, no, some of them. I mean I told him,
- 3:57Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, like, you're the first rapper that my
- 4:00Speaker 1: dad liked. And I think it was because my dad
- 4:02Speaker 1: was like a low key purv and like like to
- 4:03Speaker 1: hear like a dude talking about fucking bitches and getting
- 4:06Speaker 1: blow jobs and shit. But he's the first guy that
- 4:09Speaker 1: really was popping that like freaky shit on records. You know.
- 4:13Speaker 2: He said that, like what made him want to get
- 4:16Speaker 2: into raping was just talking shit, right. He was like
- 4:19Speaker 2: he loved music, he loved the funk, he loved the
- 4:22Speaker 2: parliaments and different elements of what music was to him
- 4:25Speaker 2: in those days. But when he started making his music,
- 4:28Speaker 2: he wanted to have that sound but just talking everyday
- 4:31Speaker 2: life shit, like shit that's going on in real life
- 4:34Speaker 2: around the neighborhood.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So I gotta watch it. I'll give you my own review.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Cooks reviews.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I think it's a great film.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I think I can't wait to watch it. Your cat.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I think it's a great film. It's very It's like
- 4:45Speaker 2: one of those like kill Bill Tarantino style things where
- 4:49Speaker 2: it's like it's four different scenarios that kind of all
- 4:52Speaker 2: tie in the one. So in the beginning it can
- 4:54Speaker 2: be a bit confusing because you're like, what's going on,
- 4:56Speaker 2: But then as things start unfolding, you're like, oh, that
- 4:59Speaker 2: goes to the first half.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Well. I also feel like too, like just in general,
- 5:03Speaker 1: the representation of the Bay Area shit is like underserved. Yes, definitely, definitely,
- 5:10Speaker 1: Like San Francisco has been the setting of a lot
- 5:12Speaker 1: of big movies, but it's never been about San Francisco, and.
- 5:14Speaker 2: San Francisco gets movies like they the shoes. Oakland is different.
- 5:20Speaker 2: We shot this in Oakland.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Got it, But I just mean the Bay in general,
- 5:24Speaker 1: Like you'll see like rush Hour will be in San
- 5:25Speaker 1: Francisco some ship, but there's never any sort of movie
- 5:29Speaker 1: that like really represents like the street culture that comes
- 5:33Speaker 1: out of the Bay Area. I known uh Berner's working
- 5:36Speaker 1: on a movie called.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Fuck It's called bib City, Bip City.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I was gonna say Glass City, Yeah City, bip City.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yes, But even even that, right, Like, if we take that,
- 5:47Speaker 2: that's one pocket of the Bay. Right, Freaky Tales covers
- 5:51Speaker 2: like four different pockets, from like the hippies to the skinheads,
- 5:55Speaker 2: to the punk rock kids, to the hip hop kids,
- 5:58Speaker 2: to the police right to the hired hitmen in the
- 6:03Speaker 2: Bay to the warriors with Sleepy Floyd sleep right, So
- 6:07Speaker 2: it covers all these different timelines of culture in the Bay.
- 6:12Speaker 1: There's a lot of hired hitmen in the Bay. Yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 1: y'all known for that.
- 6:16Speaker 2: No, we're not known for it, but there's a few
- 6:19Speaker 2: people that get I.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Didn't know that. I didn't know if that was like
- 6:22Speaker 1: up there with the.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I don't know, but I've heard stories.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah, God, think of the Bay I think when I
- 6:28Speaker 1: think I think of obviously fillmore pimping.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's for sure. Players is what.
- 6:34Speaker 1: We players where we really know for sure.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I've learned to say player because pimping just sounds so
- 6:39Speaker 2: crazy and dated.
- 6:41Speaker 1: It rupts people the wrong way. Definitely the player ship
- 6:44Speaker 1: for sure.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Definitely definitely players out there.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Man. So you said a little bit ago, you said
- 6:49Speaker 1: back when you were dropping music. Yeah, So what is
- 6:53Speaker 1: going on with your career right now? Are you still
- 6:56Speaker 1: on Atlantic Records? No, so you're off. Was this because
- 7:01Speaker 1: of the new regime that came in, because we all
- 7:04Speaker 1: saw the new regime, the Range came in, the ten
- 7:08Speaker 1: K guy came in.
- 7:09Speaker 2: That played a big part, but it was kind of
- 7:13Speaker 2: it was going away before that even wasn'tnounced.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Well, I feel like I've been telling you to get
- 7:18Speaker 1: off Atlantic Records for like four years, Like, buddy, what
- 7:21Speaker 1: do you like? Get the fuck off this label. They're
- 7:23Speaker 1: forcing you to do these fucking songs.
- 7:26Speaker 2: It's not that this is what it is, right, I'm
- 7:30Speaker 2: always kicking from both sides. I hate when artists like
- 7:34Speaker 2: come up on certain platforms and just bashed their label
- 7:36Speaker 2: because at the end of the day, like Atlantic did
- 7:40Speaker 2: a lot for me, Right, I got a lot of
- 7:42Speaker 2: fans that will be fans due to Atlantic Records introducing
- 7:45Speaker 2: them to me, certain people Dallas introducing me to or
- 7:48Speaker 2: Jason Davis, whatever it may be. So those fans will
- 7:51Speaker 2: always be there because of them, and I salute them
- 7:53Speaker 2: for that. But it could be a thing of like
- 7:57Speaker 2: you know, sometimes visions don't aligne they could see something
- 8:01Speaker 2: and that what they see could have possibly worked, and
- 8:03Speaker 2: it may not have been what I seen for myself,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and that could class So two things could be good
- 8:08Speaker 2: and it just may not work, you know what I mean,
- 8:11Speaker 2: Like the time it may not been there it was COVID.
- 8:13Speaker 2: It's a lot going on. Of course, we had a
- 8:16Speaker 2: lot of misunderstandings with certain moments that was missing, things
- 8:19Speaker 2: like that, But we had a lot of sample issues
- 8:21Speaker 2: when it came to certain records that I feel could
- 8:24Speaker 2: have defined certain things. So it's a lot of things
- 8:26Speaker 2: behind the scenes that it's no one person's fault or no.
- 8:30Speaker 1: You didn't drop an actual album, never dropped.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I never dropped it out. That's why I'd be like
- 8:35Speaker 2: kind of laughing when everybody.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Just those are just mixtapes.
- 8:38Speaker 2: It's mixtapes and like my first offering at being in
- 8:42Speaker 2: the industry. So it's so much I've learned, and then
- 8:45Speaker 2: it's just like shit, being honest with you, keV you
- 8:48Speaker 2: my brother, I made a ship ton of money.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Off of things that weren't that wasn't music.
- 8:56Speaker 2: So it's like, when it got to that point, I'm
- 9:00Speaker 2: not really feeling like the struggling artist that has to
- 9:04Speaker 2: just show up and prove myself to the label anymore.
- 9:09Speaker 2: It was just like, Yo, this is what I want
- 9:11Speaker 2: to do. And because my trajectory wasn't at a certain point,
- 9:16Speaker 2: they felt I should maybe listen or I should go
- 9:18Speaker 2: a different route. And I felt like, nah, I want
- 9:21Speaker 2: to go this way with it, and things did in
- 9:23Speaker 2: the line and shit, me and you was together at
- 9:26Speaker 2: the PopOut show last year. He was like, when the
- 9:28Speaker 2: album coming in, what I say? I'm an influencer now.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So you're still trying to make music, bro, I got
- 9:37Speaker 1: music right now. I know. Look, I know you have
- 9:39Speaker 1: an insane preposterous amount of underlease music.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Put it like this, I just had four label meetings
- 9:45Speaker 2: last week.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Do you think that is your best thing outside of
- 9:50Speaker 1: obviously getting a bag and advance all that stuff, But
- 9:53Speaker 1: like in terms of like do you think the major
- 9:55Speaker 1: is it a major label thing? Because I could see
- 9:57Speaker 1: you just I feel like you just gotta here's.
- 9:59Speaker 2: A thing I don't believe in the independent way for me,
- 10:04Speaker 2: for me right and what I mean by that is
- 10:07Speaker 2: I'm someone that I feel I work best with a partner.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I work best with infrastructure and team around me because
- 10:15Speaker 2: I had a hard time developing that amongst my friends
- 10:19Speaker 2: or whatever that may be. So instead of trying to
- 10:22Speaker 2: make my homeboard a manager or the A and R, now,
- 10:24Speaker 2: I'll just pay you to be the A and R
- 10:26Speaker 2: that wants to be the A and R. Right, I'd
- 10:28Speaker 2: rather give up a piece of something to have that
- 10:31Speaker 2: and try to force what never worked for me. So
- 10:34Speaker 2: I think I work better in a system. The system
- 10:39Speaker 2: I was in I didn't work in because I felt
- 10:41Speaker 2: like the system was outdated a bit. And from what
- 10:45Speaker 2: I'm lining up now and partners that I'm talking to,
- 10:48Speaker 2: this is a better thing for me to not only
- 10:50Speaker 2: just do music, produce films. Right, I do a lot
- 10:54Speaker 2: of these podcasts y'all watch that. I'll be behind the
- 10:58Speaker 2: scenes doing Kim Street owned and producing and certain things.
- 11:02Speaker 2: So it's a lot of other things I'm into that
- 11:04Speaker 2: I feel things I'm into outside of music that I
- 11:08Speaker 2: feel my partner has to understand. It's not just the music.
- 11:11Speaker 2: And Yeah, so that's why I feel I work best
- 11:14Speaker 2: with a partner for someone like a Larussell. He got
- 11:18Speaker 2: his team infrastructure that works for him. You know what
- 11:22Speaker 2: I'm saying that you.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Kind of like a quasi, like a like a you
- 11:26Speaker 1: know something with one of these Distroy companies that gives
- 11:28Speaker 1: you label services. Big ex. The Plug is independent, but
- 11:31Speaker 1: he's with United Masters.
- 11:32Speaker 2: But he's also with Steve stout.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Right United Masters, so he has like the label services,
- 11:37Speaker 1: but he still owns all his masters. He's got creative control.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Like you know what I'm saying, for sure, no percent,
- 11:43Speaker 2: and I agree with you.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I just feel like you have so much great music
- 11:45Speaker 1: that you're sitting there and it's like it's just gonna
- 11:47Speaker 1: always sit there.
- 11:48Speaker 2: No, it's gonna come. I promise you it's coming. I
- 11:51Speaker 2: promise you it's coming. It's just the thing is and
- 11:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna be all the way real because you're my brother,
- 11:55Speaker 2: and fuck it, we on the Bootleg kV podcast. Will
- 11:57Speaker 2: give me a shot, let me get another. I hate
- 12:01Speaker 2: when artists get off the label and it just looks
- 12:06Speaker 2: it doesn't look the same, right right, You know what
- 12:09Speaker 2: I mean by that?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Like, yeah, but you have so much high I mean
- 12:12Speaker 1: look obviously talking about like aesthetically music.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Videos, but I feel like, you know, I'm not talking
- 12:18Speaker 2: about the music video. I'm saying the presentation of things.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I'm somebody that really cares about how I'm presented my
- 12:24Speaker 2: music everything. So when it comes to distribution companies, cool, yes,
- 12:29Speaker 2: But what are the other services that can help advance
- 12:32Speaker 2: me outside of you just distributing my music? No, for sure,
- 12:36Speaker 2: And I feel sometimes those distribution companies don't really.
- 12:40Speaker 1: You gotta have like a you really got to be
- 12:43Speaker 1: a priority at some of those places, for sure.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Or it's like and you have to be a priority
- 12:48Speaker 2: enough to where the higher ups can use their relationships
- 12:50Speaker 2: to help you.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Right, or they got to give you a big enough
- 12:53Speaker 1: bag on the district side where you're like, yeah, we'll
- 12:56Speaker 1: figure it out with this money, you know.
- 12:57Speaker 2: And that's for me what it is. It ain't really
- 12:59Speaker 2: about the money, no, more like the money is there
- 13:02Speaker 2: is the right partnership for me to be able to
- 13:05Speaker 2: just put the music out and be consistent and run
- 13:08Speaker 2: it how I want to run it.
- 13:09Speaker 1: You essentially just want to worry about the music and
- 13:11Speaker 1: being that's it and let everybody else do the heavy lifting.
- 13:15Speaker 2: And that's another thing I had to go through too.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Bro.
- 13:17Speaker 2: It is like shit, you get all this motherfucking money,
- 13:20Speaker 2: don't nobody tell you how to deal with it. So
- 13:22Speaker 2: it's like taxes right, setting your LLC up and your
- 13:26Speaker 2: s corpse right, and all these different things.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Like if you weren't making money off of music because
- 13:30Speaker 1: you had like a prize picks deal, what was all
- 13:32Speaker 1: your like? Because a lot of artists probably are like
- 13:36Speaker 1: raking their skull against the pavement trying to figure out
- 13:38Speaker 1: how to make money outside of streams and shit.
- 13:41Speaker 2: So because of that, they literally get stuck to rap.
- 13:43Speaker 1: For me, I don't look at it like that, right.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I look at myself as an overall a creative. Rap
- 13:50Speaker 2: is something that I do, and I'm very good at it,
- 13:53Speaker 2: and that's what people met me for. But that's not
- 13:56Speaker 2: all that I can do. I can do other things.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I've curated a good commercial, right, I've done movies. I've
- 14:04Speaker 2: done Jimmy Kimmel, I've I've done all kind of the NBA.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I'm literally just left for meeting on the way here
- 14:11Speaker 2: with the NBA with some stuff we're doing for Summer League.
- 14:14Speaker 2: You know, like they call me a lot. My god,
- 14:17Speaker 2: Dan shout out to Dan. He calls me a lot,
- 14:19Speaker 2: And you.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Know you're doing a lot of stuff Gil with Arenas too.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I seen that's my brother shout out to Gil.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Gil's another one that's like made me realize I wasn't
- 14:28Speaker 2: properly managing my business.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I mean, it's good to say when he's one of
- 14:33Speaker 1: the most uh you know, historically high paid players of
- 14:38Speaker 1: all time at time, he's also like he got a
- 14:42Speaker 1: stupid bad.
- 14:43Speaker 2: But Gil is like an execution genius.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Oh for sure. His podcast is amazing.
- 14:49Speaker 2: So it's like he does all the research and checks
- 14:51Speaker 2: every corner before he steps into a space. And that's
- 14:54Speaker 2: what I've been doing the past year with me was Okay,
- 14:57Speaker 2: I'm off the label. What is my new situation look like?
- 15:01Speaker 1: Right?
- 15:01Speaker 2: I want it to look like this? What does every
- 15:03Speaker 2: corner of this look like? Who needs to be there?
- 15:06Speaker 2: What lawyer do I need? Not just an entertainment lawyer.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I might need a litigations with it, right? You need
- 15:12Speaker 2: all these kind of things to really properly shut your
- 15:15Speaker 2: shit up for you to get out here and really
- 15:17Speaker 2: get to it.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And I learned that from Gil. Do you feel like
- 15:21Speaker 1: you're because I think at the end of the day,
- 15:24Speaker 1: Atlantic records when you get there by the time you leave,
- 15:28Speaker 1: it's a whole different cast of people. Is that something
- 15:32Speaker 1: you always will hear that when artists signed somewhere and
- 15:35Speaker 1: there's a a regime change, it's almost like in sports. Yeah,
- 15:42Speaker 1: if there's a new GM, the new GM doesn't want
- 15:45Speaker 1: the coaches there. They want to go get their guy.
- 15:47Speaker 1: So you have a whole new cast of people who
- 15:51Speaker 1: probably you know, philosophically don't line up with the old
- 15:55Speaker 1: crew that was there, and also probably don't give a
- 15:58Speaker 1: fuck about you. They to bring in their own folks.
- 16:01Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Is that essentially what kind
- 16:03Speaker 1: of well, because they released a bunch of artists.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Three hundred people got fired in the day.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Right, I mean, the radio department got gutted liked.
- 16:14Speaker 2: But these are things the public don't know, and they'll
- 16:17Speaker 2: just be like, oh, he's not putting out music. In
- 16:19Speaker 2: order for you to put out music, and it for
- 16:22Speaker 2: me personally, when I put out music, I want my
- 16:25Speaker 2: music to have the best shot at getting as many
- 16:28Speaker 2: eyes on it as possible. Right, So in order for
- 16:31Speaker 2: me to release a record through my label, I need
- 16:33Speaker 2: every department to line up. I need the marketing department
- 16:37Speaker 2: to be on point with my publishers. I need my
- 16:39Speaker 2: publishers to be on point with my A and R.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I need my A and R to be on point
- 16:42Speaker 2: with the production company. It's very hard to get all
- 16:46Speaker 2: of those things to connect at one time for one
- 16:49Speaker 2: release when you're a new artist, right, so you're fighting
- 16:52Speaker 2: for these things. It wasn't a thing of a new
- 16:56Speaker 2: regime coming in and saying we don't believe in him,
- 16:59Speaker 2: or we don't want to do this.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I want to do that.
- 17:03Speaker 2: The team I had was already gone two years before
- 17:07Speaker 2: that even happened. The people who you know what I'm
- 17:11Speaker 2: saying it was, they was already out the building prior
- 17:13Speaker 2: to that.
- 17:14Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean Dallas had been gone for Dallas
- 17:16Speaker 1: was going for two years.
- 17:18Speaker 2: He was just really a consultant that was there for
- 17:21Speaker 2: like me, Roddy, Cordy, certain people like that. But outside
- 17:24Speaker 2: of that, he was just there is It wasn't like
- 17:28Speaker 2: you know what I mean. So it was very difficult
- 17:31Speaker 2: with having seven product managers in four years. It's like
- 17:35Speaker 2: having a new head coach every every four years. It's like,
- 17:39Speaker 2: how do you even get in a rhythm with this?
- 17:41Speaker 2: Like they don't even know me. So you're making music
- 17:43Speaker 2: and you like this is what I want to do.
- 17:45Speaker 2: This is how I see the visuals.
- 17:46Speaker 1: They like, well, we.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Think you should put on ten chains and let girls
- 17:50Speaker 2: shake their ass with flamethrowers. And I'm like, this don't
- 17:53Speaker 2: make sense. And then I'll go talk to the higher
- 17:54Speaker 2: ups and they're like, why would they say that? And
- 17:56Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't know. Can we have men?
- 17:58Speaker 1: I think all of that's going on. I think that
- 18:00Speaker 1: there's a certain aspect of your career where it was
- 18:05Speaker 1: just I think y'all overthought it so much. Dog.
- 18:08Speaker 2: No, it wasn't that, I'm telling you what it was.
- 18:10Speaker 2: It was COVID and sample issues.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I know there was a lot of
- 18:14Speaker 1: big records you had that didn't drop because of the
- 18:15Speaker 1: sample issues. I just think of like, you have this
- 18:20Speaker 1: like almost like the ball's been passed to you, as
- 18:23Speaker 1: like the new like the new fucking has it been? Though?
- 18:29Speaker 1: I think, so when was the ball passed to me?
- 18:33Speaker 1: I think you I think I think there was a
- 18:35Speaker 1: big I think when I would talk to people who
- 18:37Speaker 1: weren't from the West Coast, anybody from New York, Tampa
- 18:41Speaker 1: where I used to live, you know, people be like, yo,
- 18:44Speaker 1: I dude, symbols cold out there, like because they'd be
- 18:46Speaker 1: a fan of your freestyles and all that shit, and
- 18:49Speaker 1: and I think that you would the albums would have
- 18:53Speaker 1: a piece like never end up broke. Oh my god,
- 18:56Speaker 1: if you could just put together fucking twelve of those,
- 18:59Speaker 1: it'd be a fucking class. But I feel like there
- 19:01Speaker 1: was always like a lot of like overly an ard,
- 19:05Speaker 1: overly thought out songs. You guys would overthink records as
- 19:09Speaker 1: a post And I used to always tell you this, like,
- 19:11Speaker 1: ooll just drop a class, like focus on dropping a
- 19:13Speaker 1: critical album. Fuck the singles, fuck the bitches, fucking just drop.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I love this conversation about it. No, because it's gonna
- 19:22Speaker 2: be great for artists, because we're gonna really get into it.
- 19:24Speaker 1: No, because like I just feel like people people came
- 19:29Speaker 1: to the table because they would see you rapping and
- 19:31Speaker 1: they'd be like, Yo, what the fuck this shit is crazy?
- 19:35Speaker 1: And I just felt like you never put together like
- 19:38Speaker 1: a whole body of work that would quench the thirst
- 19:42Speaker 1: of those fans. Like there might be a few on there,
- 19:45Speaker 1: but I felt like at times you're over A and
- 19:47Speaker 1: rd V, at times you were over shit was just
- 19:51Speaker 1: overthought out, Like it was just like dude, like.
- 19:53Speaker 2: That's why brother, and that's why you somebody I loved
- 19:56Speaker 2: to death and always value you.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Change. Taking that fucking flat T song fucking was crazy too.
- 20:01Speaker 1: That was your song, great fucking song. No, I love.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I love what you're saying, because essentially what you're saying
- 20:10Speaker 2: is I signed a deal too early. I signed a
- 20:14Speaker 2: deal before I was able to develop. Yeah, and what
- 20:17Speaker 2: happened was because of that, I wasn't able to properly
- 20:22Speaker 2: present what people came to me for due to too
- 20:25Speaker 2: much business being involved.
- 20:27Speaker 1: It was a lot of hands in the it was too.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Many people involved. So it was we need a hit
- 20:32Speaker 2: record for this, we need this for this show, we
- 20:34Speaker 2: need this. And for me, it's my first time being
- 20:38Speaker 2: accepted in the industry. So I'm trying to be everything
- 20:41Speaker 2: to everybody.
- 20:42Speaker 1: And you're like the first time you got guys like
- 20:45Speaker 1: two chains embracing, it's the first time you're like, motherfucker's
- 20:48Speaker 1: I idolized. I want something to go play at Magic
- 20:50Speaker 1: City when I go to Atlanta, like cour and I'm
- 20:53Speaker 1: hanging in Atlanta at this time. This is like you're
- 20:56Speaker 1: also like low key, like people don't know, but like
- 20:58Speaker 1: you're also like you can waiting to be accepted by
- 21:01Speaker 1: the industry, sure, because that was forever. That was part
- 21:04Speaker 1: of the problems. Like at a certain point in time,
- 21:06Speaker 1: you're like, yo, I'm just gonna do what I think
- 21:08Speaker 1: they want because.
- 21:09Speaker 2: At I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, So if that's
- 21:12Speaker 2: what y'all want, and I'm wondering people, it's crazy. Because
- 21:15Speaker 2: I was just talking to one of our mutual homies
- 21:18Speaker 2: about this this morning. He was like, bro, i'b be
- 21:20Speaker 2: envying you sometimes. I said, why, He said, because I
- 21:24Speaker 2: gotta go do all this research to be half as
- 21:26Speaker 2: good as you at you not doing no research at
- 21:31Speaker 2: things you don't even care about. He was like, you
- 21:33Speaker 2: just naturally gifted in spaces that other people ain't and
- 21:36Speaker 2: you don't take advantage.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And I was like, damn, I never.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Looked at it that way, right, But for me, it
- 21:43Speaker 2: was a situation where.
- 21:44Speaker 1: It was like, Doug, I'm in New York.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I'm in New York and foreign cars with a million dollars,
- 21:55Speaker 2: hanging with Melissa Ford, going to eat and weak. I'm
- 21:59Speaker 2: having fun, like I'm enjoying it, right, But when I'm
- 22:03Speaker 2: really locking in to it and like really like, okay,
- 22:06Speaker 2: let's do this, all this business stuff starts happening, right,
- 22:10Speaker 2: sample can't get cleared. This producer won one hundred grand, this,
- 22:14Speaker 2: this person crazy, this person, and it'd be the same
- 22:18Speaker 2: producer who say they want hip hop to thrive and flourished,
- 22:22Speaker 2: But you're trying to bang me across the head because
- 22:24Speaker 2: I got a deal that you can take advantage of,
- 22:26Speaker 2: because I got a budget. Right, So when all this
- 22:28Speaker 2: is going on, I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna
- 22:30Speaker 2: just enjoy this shit. I'm gonna just enjoy it and
- 22:33Speaker 2: live in it because it's obviously a bunch of chaos
- 22:36Speaker 2: and it's too much business going on around me for
- 22:39Speaker 2: me to even understand what the fuck is going on.
- 22:41Speaker 2: So I had to draw back and look at it
- 22:44Speaker 2: from every angle. Okay, what's this person job, what's this
- 22:48Speaker 2: person getting, what's that person getting? When I figured what
- 22:51Speaker 2: was going on, I said, oh, shut all this shit.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Down, because what was the name of the song that
- 22:55Speaker 1: got you signed to Atlantic that never came out? Loco, No, no, no,
- 22:59Speaker 1: it was a song you play.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Glad Jesus, Black Jesus, Blad Jesus.
- 23:02Speaker 1: It's like, that's what got you signed.
- 23:04Speaker 2: But imagine, imagine if loco comes out because you heard logo.
- 23:08Speaker 2: That was the original me or Roddy Rich song. That
- 23:12Speaker 2: was the original thing of how people found me, and
- 23:15Speaker 2: it was that it couldn't get cleared. Sample couldn't get cleared.
- 23:18Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 23:18Speaker 2: So three years later me and Roddy make a whole
- 23:21Speaker 2: nother song. When I started getting money, he rich. We
- 23:25Speaker 2: no longer than saying people we was three years ago
- 23:28Speaker 2: when we was fighting trying to get out of that hole.
- 23:30Speaker 1: It is different. It's different. I think that you have
- 23:34Speaker 1: like a I know you and again I don't know
- 23:37Speaker 1: the specifics of who made what beats, but I know
- 23:39Speaker 1: you got a lot of crazy music you're sitting on.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Oh wait till you hear what I'm gonna play when
- 23:43Speaker 2: we get off.
- 23:44Speaker 1: The problem is is like if you're independent, it's a
- 23:47Speaker 1: lot more different of a conversation to try to clear
- 23:50Speaker 1: or if you're independent, fuck clear the sample or trot
- 23:55Speaker 1: that shit, or you structure your team in a way
- 23:58Speaker 1: that fits what you want to do to be consistent
- 24:01Speaker 1: rather the simple is there or not static. Selected used
- 24:04Speaker 1: to always say I've never cleared a sample. If my
- 24:07Speaker 1: song gets big enough.
- 24:08Speaker 2: It's a wing.
- 24:09Speaker 1: They'll send me a fucking season de sistem.
- 24:11Speaker 2: But the Marvin Gay estate made that difficult, right with
- 24:16Speaker 2: blurred lines. Right, I'm at a label that got sued
- 24:19Speaker 2: by blurred lines.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like, when you're fucking.
- 24:21Speaker 2: We're not doing that ship. We just had to pay
- 24:23Speaker 2: a hundred million dollars behind not clearing the simple Like, no,
- 24:27Speaker 2: it's business, and.
- 24:28Speaker 1: You can't blame them. No, for sure, that's state business.
- 24:31Speaker 2: They gotta protect. So we gotta go back in the
- 24:33Speaker 2: studio and cook something else up. And then we're trying
- 24:37Speaker 2: to take those lyrics and put them over new beats,
- 24:39Speaker 2: and it just don't feel the same, right, It just
- 24:41Speaker 2: don't feel the same. So it's like half of what y'all.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Heard got the opposite of demo itis. You're like, I
- 24:46Speaker 1: know what it sounded like on the old yet.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Half of results take time with new beats. I didn't
- 24:54Speaker 2: wrap those songs to those beats, but samples couldn't get cleared,
- 24:59Speaker 2: so we had to make them new things.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Are you still with your production company?
- 25:03Speaker 2: Yeah, we got a new situation we're working out as well. Yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 2: but we're in a great space as well too. Like
- 25:12Speaker 2: like I said, it was, it was so much going on.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I think a lot of things happened fast for all
- 25:17Speaker 2: of us. And I think because everything was so New York, Philly,
- 25:23Speaker 2: La Debay, it was so fragmented, it kind of made
- 25:27Speaker 2: it hard for everybody to kind of like get to
- 25:30Speaker 2: know each other a little bit. You're dealing with personalities
- 25:33Speaker 2: from all over the fucking world. But we're in a
- 25:36Speaker 2: great space. And shut out to Atlantic and everything they
- 25:38Speaker 2: did for me. Shut out to Dallas, you know, shut
- 25:40Speaker 2: out to Jamilla, shout out to everybody. I got love
- 25:43Speaker 2: from the people for sure.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Do you feel like because I feel like you're
- 25:50Speaker 1: thriving as a personality now, does it make you like
- 25:53Speaker 1: less motivated to No? Try still in the music game.
- 25:58Speaker 2: No, Like I got some I know what I'm doing now.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I'm not shooting in the dark.
- 26:03Speaker 1: No more so.
- 26:04Speaker 2: When you're not shooting in the dark, you know how
- 26:08Speaker 2: to make your playing bulletproof. And that's what I'm doing
- 26:12Speaker 2: right now, is making what I want to do bulletproof.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I can't present it until it's fully there for me
- 26:18Speaker 2: to be consistent enough to do this for the rest
- 26:21Speaker 2: of my life. Once I start again, there's no stopping.
- 26:25Speaker 2: I'm never gonna start and stop again once I start
- 26:28Speaker 2: it's up.
- 26:30Speaker 1: You had that. I saw you recently. You said that
- 26:31Speaker 1: you had a taken on a new position helping some
- 26:36Speaker 1: some sports stuff out. Yeah, can you talk about that?
- 26:41Speaker 2: Which position? Because it's me You're an employee. Now, we
- 26:45Speaker 2: can't talk about that one yet.
- 26:46Speaker 1: You're like, Hey, it's I'm just that I'm an employee. Now,
- 26:49Speaker 1: I'm like, what do you mean? Do you tell me?
- 26:50Speaker 1: I was like, God, damn, that's crazy. I can't talk
- 26:52Speaker 1: about that.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we can't talk about it will be announced soon,
- 26:55Speaker 2: but we can't talk about it yet.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Got it.
- 26:58Speaker 2: You could say it without saying the name though.
- 27:00Speaker 1: I think you said you were helping, like had the
- 27:03Speaker 1: music department of a major league Yeah, not the major league, yeah,
- 27:07Speaker 1: but a major league sports league. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Nice, like directing the music, like making sure. I feel
- 27:13Speaker 2: like it's this dynamic of like when rappers make sports music,
- 27:17Speaker 2: it gets looked at it like corny.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Well you have like my kid has used your song
- 27:22Speaker 1: so much? Put me in the game. Yeah on talk. Yeah,
- 27:25Speaker 1: it's fucking but it was just you just threw it out.
- 27:28Speaker 2: But that was that was something I connected to space
- 27:32Speaker 2: Gym right, which came out with Space Gym so kind
- 27:35Speaker 2: of what I'm working on, what the partner is finding
- 27:39Speaker 2: creative ways for songs to live in their platform and
- 27:43Speaker 2: to help other people. Right, So if we look at
- 27:46Speaker 2: radio or we look at streaming, what are other ways
- 27:49Speaker 2: we can get our music out for sure versus just
- 27:52Speaker 2: radio and streaming. So if I can be on TV
- 27:55Speaker 2: in this commercial or licensing, you know what I'm saying,
- 27:58Speaker 2: whatever it may be, and I got a song that
- 28:00Speaker 2: fits this, why not place it there because it might
- 28:03Speaker 2: get me the same spins I can get on radio
- 28:05Speaker 2: or something like that. So approaching it from that angle.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I wonder, do you ever was it hard? Because when
- 28:12Speaker 1: you're somebody like yourself, and I know you have an ego,
- 28:14Speaker 1: Every rapper has an ego, do you ever fall victim?
- 28:20Speaker 1: And I feel like all of us at a certain
- 28:22Speaker 1: point in time fall victim? To pocket watching? Pocket watching,
- 28:25Speaker 1: I would say, where maybe you feel like, fuck, I'm
- 28:28Speaker 1: doing all this, but you'll see other artists like who
- 28:31Speaker 1: maybe not might not be as talented as you, or
- 28:33Speaker 1: might not be as you know.
- 28:35Speaker 2: I don't pocket what. I don't pocket watch rappers. They
- 28:37Speaker 2: don't make enough money, Okay, rappers don't make enough money?
- 28:41Speaker 2: Like when I go to basketball games. Now, I be
- 28:42Speaker 2: thinking about who made the rim I like that. I
- 28:46Speaker 2: don't even think about what the players probably China, Like
- 28:49Speaker 2: who made the netding?
- 28:51Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 28:51Speaker 2: Where did the paint come from that painted the hard wood,
- 28:55Speaker 2: and what chemicals went into that and who owns the
- 28:57Speaker 2: chemical company?
- 28:58Speaker 1: Like m That's where my mind goes. It sounds like
- 29:01Speaker 1: you talk a lot of tariff talk.
- 29:02Speaker 2: I seen too much. I've seen too much. I seen
- 29:06Speaker 2: too much, and I've seen how it works. And I'm like, oh,
- 29:10Speaker 2: I was worried about the room shit, Like I was
- 29:14Speaker 2: focused on things that's like, really ain't gonna change shit.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I gotta integrate knee spaces to really affect the change.
- 29:22Speaker 1: But you also are very like you're a very h
- 29:26Speaker 1: You're a very confident artist.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I'm just a confident person, right.
- 29:30Speaker 1: But I mean in the hip hop space, you've obviously
- 29:32Speaker 1: like you've popped your ship.
- 29:33Speaker 2: You know, you've something like cause if I wrap, like,
- 29:36Speaker 2: let's be real, who fucking with me? Besides my man's,
- 29:41Speaker 2: besides my man's who you know my.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Man's it's Kenny.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Besides my man's, that's my nigga, Like besides my nigga,
- 29:51Speaker 2: who fucking with me?
- 29:53Speaker 1: I just.
- 29:55Speaker 2: I haven't had the platform that some of you have
- 29:58Speaker 2: had to be able to shot. But it's goodman, and
- 30:01Speaker 2: just prepare yourself.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Are you at all conscientious of like the next thing
- 30:07Speaker 1: I do? Is it going to be singles? Or are
- 30:09Speaker 1: you going to deliver a body of work?
- 30:13Speaker 2: Body of work? For sure, but I think the main
- 30:15Speaker 2: thing immediately is just getting back to what putting music
- 30:20Speaker 2: feels like.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Out when's the last time you dropped in? Two years?
- 30:23Speaker 2: Three years?
- 30:23Speaker 1: Three years?
- 30:24Speaker 2: Three years?
- 30:24Speaker 1: What the fuck?
- 30:25Speaker 2: Three years? My last record was top G in May
- 30:28Speaker 2: of twenty twenty two, twenty three, so that's two years.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Ye say, I don't think it's been three years, full years,
- 30:33Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. That was the one that you shot
- 30:35Speaker 1: over and uh was the top Africa Africa.
- 30:38Speaker 2: That was the story I told on Sway about once again.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I went to the label with a plan, but there
- 30:43Speaker 2: was a new product manager at the time, so she
- 30:46Speaker 2: didn't understand.
- 30:46Speaker 1: You said you shot that out of your own pocket, right.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Yeah, paid to go to Africa myself, my own people,
- 30:51Speaker 2: took my son, f went out there, did everything on
- 30:54Speaker 2: my own, had a good time, had a great time,
- 30:56Speaker 2: it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
- 30:58Speaker 2: But yeah, it is.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Damn that's crazy. It's been that long. It's been two years.
- 31:05Speaker 2: And you know what's even crazier. The last time we
- 31:08Speaker 2: did an interview, you asked me, how long is it
- 31:10Speaker 2: going to be before you drop again? Because I'm not
- 31:12Speaker 2: trying to wait two three years. It was right after
- 31:14Speaker 2: results take time we did an interview. You said that,
- 31:17Speaker 2: And it's crazy because I told y'all, was like, it's
- 31:19Speaker 2: not gonna be long. I said, I'm coming top of
- 31:21Speaker 2: the year.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Well, you've played me so much shit that's like amazing.
- 31:24Speaker 1: The music, this the ship we need, like this, the
- 31:26Speaker 1: shit like.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Watch I'm gonna play you when we get off camera.
- 31:30Speaker 2: The music I'm creating right now with my dog, Rob
- 31:33Speaker 2: Knox shut out to no Id as well. He's been
- 31:36Speaker 2: giving us a lot of pointers. But the music I'm
- 31:40Speaker 2: creating right now, it's me. It's what y'all see. It's
- 31:44Speaker 2: what you see on those freestyles and song format. It's
- 31:48Speaker 2: literally that. But I had to get better as an artist,
- 31:52Speaker 2: right I fell in love with rap, I never fell
- 31:55Speaker 2: in love with being an artist, so I had to
- 31:57Speaker 2: learn what that looked like. For me aesthetically, what am
- 32:00Speaker 2: I going to talk about? Who am I speaking to?
- 32:02Speaker 2: What's my concepts, what's my colors? You know what I mean?
- 32:06Speaker 2: How does my visuals touch the people that's paying attention
- 32:09Speaker 2: to me. I have to learn all of that and
- 32:11Speaker 2: learn how to put that within the music. And you know,
- 32:15Speaker 2: back in the day, that would be called artists development. Today,
- 32:19Speaker 2: artists developed in real time, right, because you might find
- 32:22Speaker 2: somebody that popped off from something that they randomly did
- 32:26Speaker 2: on the internet. Now the world is watching them, but
- 32:28Speaker 2: they have to develop how to be an artist in
- 32:31Speaker 2: real time while y'all watching them. Sure, that's a hard
- 32:34Speaker 2: thing to do, and the only way to kind of
- 32:36Speaker 2: master that is to take time and like zone out
- 32:39Speaker 2: all the chatter of oh there's no hit record, Oh
- 32:42Speaker 2: I don't know the music, I don't know. It's cool,
- 32:46Speaker 2: it's cool, it's coming, it's coming. You know.
- 32:49Speaker 1: There was a version that never ended up Broke, that
- 32:52Speaker 1: had doctor dre on it, right, Yeah, it just never
- 32:53Speaker 1: came out.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Drake Drake killed that verse.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Actually, I think it's on my phone somewhere.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you definitely got I think it was
- 33:11Speaker 2: one of those things where the rollout has started and
- 33:17Speaker 2: the project was getting ready to drop before Dre wanted
- 33:22Speaker 2: that verse to come out. I believe so it was,
- 33:25Speaker 2: you know, just a little miscommunication with things.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Were you ever able to uh work with Dre? Outside
- 33:33Speaker 1: of that? Bro? Me and Dre got some ship. Mmm.
- 33:37Speaker 2: He's probably gonna get mad at me for saying this.
- 33:41Speaker 2: And I haven't talked to him in a minute. But
- 33:43Speaker 2: we got this song called god Speed.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Is he rapping on it?
- 33:48Speaker 2: It's me and him like back to back, like on
- 33:54Speaker 2: some ship like the It's it's incredible. It's probably like
- 33:59Speaker 2: one of my our best versus.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Is that the type of record where you wouldn't like, Hey, Dre,
- 34:05Speaker 1: can I get that?
- 34:06Speaker 2: Those are the record other no one's gonna ever hear it.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Those are the records that if they ever see the
- 34:14Speaker 2: light of day, changes hip hop? Mmmm, they change him?
- 34:18Speaker 1: Do you push for them to see the light of day?
- 34:19Speaker 1: Or since it's doctor Dre, you just kind of you know.
- 34:22Speaker 2: When it when it comes to Dre is like fucking
- 34:26Speaker 2: you say, like it's you on his time?
- 34:28Speaker 1: Can you ask for it? You could ask Hey, that
- 34:31Speaker 1: song we did? I think it sounded really good on
- 34:33Speaker 1: my album.
- 34:33Speaker 2: You can ask but you also have to know when
- 34:36Speaker 2: to asks right. Right, there's a certain time and a
- 34:39Speaker 2: certain point.
- 34:39Speaker 1: You can't just record to put this out as a one.
- 34:44Speaker 1: You got to burst on the exhibit album, you know.
- 34:46Speaker 2: But look how X album is packaged. Great album, great album.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Spent this time on it for shot visuals over the
- 34:54Speaker 2: last year. Right playing this promo, run knew he wanted
- 34:58Speaker 2: to talk to and ligned himself with the proper brands.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Went to speak to people that appreciate what he does,
- 35:04Speaker 2: not people that takes away from it. Right, So it
- 35:08Speaker 2: was properly presented. I think when you're dealing with people
- 35:11Speaker 2: of an ex A Dre, certain things you have to
- 35:14Speaker 2: be able to properly present these things. And at that
- 35:17Speaker 2: time I wasn't able to properly present that verse. But
- 35:22Speaker 2: still a great verse that makes sense. Shut out to Dre.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Shut out there, everybody. I just seen Focus the other
- 35:28Speaker 2: night that exhibits release party, so shut out the Focus
- 35:33Speaker 2: as well.
- 35:33Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on the Joey badass oh man
- 35:37Speaker 1: versus every other pardon.
- 35:41Speaker 2: My brash ass feeling Joey badass because I was unique
- 35:45Speaker 2: in another life, my bad you know, I just be
- 35:48Speaker 2: rapping in my heads.
- 35:49Speaker 1: But I'm curious, Like I've enjoyed the back and forth,
- 35:53Speaker 1: and I was hoping that this cipher with Sean and
- 35:57Speaker 1: Absol was like the ending. Yeah, and then it's just
- 36:00Speaker 1: kept going and I'm like, all right, guys, we get it.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Like everyone's taking advantage of the moment.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Like I'm starting to realize, Like.
- 36:06Speaker 1: But it feels very friendly.
- 36:08Speaker 2: March through June is like rad beef season.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I mean, I think fucking last year it kind of
- 36:13Speaker 1: made that a thing.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I think the beef is great. I think it's great
- 36:17Speaker 2: for the.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Beef though, it's just friendly, Like I feel, right, Joey badasses,
- 36:22Speaker 1: Like I've got a lot of respect for TD just
- 36:25Speaker 1: by buying tdast dot com for sure, for sure, but
- 36:28Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, you saw that with like
- 36:30Speaker 1: Joey and Absol doing that back and forth. It was
- 36:32Speaker 1: so dope. I was like, this is what the fuck
- 36:34Speaker 1: I want to see because they're friends, they used to
- 36:36Speaker 1: be on tour together, their buddies, and you know, Joey's
- 36:40Speaker 1: one of them ones. You know what I'm saying. They
- 36:42Speaker 1: got to stop backing, Like Joey ain't got plaques too.
- 36:44Speaker 1: By the way, Joey got a couple of plas, but
- 36:45Speaker 1: they hanging out of my hallway right now.
- 36:47Speaker 2: They forget about devastated.
- 36:49Speaker 1: It's platinum. It's hanging in my studio. He used to
- 36:51Speaker 1: be on my old set behind me.
- 36:53Speaker 2: They forget Joey got They forget Joey wrote rock Star.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Joey is a prolific MC who again. You know, I
- 37:01Speaker 1: feel like at certain times he dibbles and dabbles, like
- 37:04Speaker 1: where he's like, Yo, this acting shit's going crazy, and
- 37:08Speaker 1: he dives into the acting and then he's back outside,
- 37:11Speaker 1: and you know, I just think Joey's and I think
- 37:13Speaker 1: it's been dope because I feel like this whole beef's
- 37:15Speaker 1: at least shine a light on a guy like Rayvon
- 37:17Speaker 1: who's and reason and obviously Daylight's a fucking alien.
- 37:23Speaker 2: He just dropped today, didn't he.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I haven't listened, but I'm like when like, it's cool.
- 37:28Speaker 1: I just thought that the perfect like you know, icing
- 37:32Speaker 1: on the cake would have been that cipher and then
- 37:33Speaker 1: it dies there. Yeah nah, it turned back up. Man.
- 37:37Speaker 2: I think it's great right now, especially right now like
- 37:40Speaker 2: rap is in a I'm not gonna say music. Rap
- 37:43Speaker 2: is in like a weird space right now where I
- 37:46Speaker 2: feel like even the fans don't really know what they want.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like commercially it's definitely like the last
- 37:54Speaker 1: year has been. I mean, Jesus, just Kendrick and Sissen. Yeah,
- 37:58Speaker 1: Kendrick and.
- 37:58Speaker 2: But those are people that understand it at a high level.
- 38:01Speaker 1: No, for sure, And it's but it's like almost like
- 38:04Speaker 1: this weird space where it's like, Okay, then Drake drops
- 38:08Speaker 1: Nokia and everyone loves the song, but it's not like
- 38:11Speaker 1: it's a great song. But I feel like I feel
- 38:13Speaker 1: like in La at least or any of my rap buddies,
- 38:17Speaker 1: they don't want to like it too much because it's
- 38:21Speaker 1: so good.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Well, I think the beef between Drake and Kendrick kind
- 38:25Speaker 2: of caused a divide between a lot of things. Like
- 38:28Speaker 2: even in the songwriter community, it's certain like songwriters that
- 38:35Speaker 2: fuck with one artist that makes sense won't work with
- 38:38Speaker 2: the other one because they know that person likes it's
- 38:41Speaker 2: a heavy thing.
- 38:42Speaker 1: There is a real there is a real still divide.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Like there was a situation recently that I won't say
- 38:48Speaker 1: the names of, but let's say person A who had
- 38:51Speaker 1: a beef with Drake.
- 38:54Speaker 2: I think I know what you're talking about.
- 38:56Speaker 1: They had a VIP room reserved at a.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Strip club and couldn't get in there.
- 39:02Speaker 1: No, they reserved it. They're there all the time. By
- 39:04Speaker 1: the way, person a that I'm talking about is a
- 39:08Speaker 1: fucking superstar level human in the music industry. Person by
- 39:12Speaker 1: maybe not a superstar level person, but very close to
- 39:16Speaker 1: a main guy in the big beef. Comes in and says, hey,
- 39:20Speaker 1: we want to take the VIP room. The strip club
- 39:22Speaker 1: says it's already for.
- 39:25Speaker 2: So and so that's why I said he couldn't get
- 39:27Speaker 2: in there.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Right and so yeah, it's so it's like this weird
- 39:30Speaker 1: thing where it's like, okay, and I happen to go
- 39:33Speaker 1: that night and I didn't know how because I've been
- 39:37Speaker 1: pretty critical of Drake on Twitter. Yeah, you know, was no, no, no,
- 39:42Speaker 1: I didn't know how. You know. I ran into his
- 39:45Speaker 1: people and I wasn't sure until I saw them and
- 39:50Speaker 1: they were cool, and I was like, oh, okay. I
- 39:55Speaker 1: was like, I know I've been dogging out Drake on Twitter. Guy,
- 40:00Speaker 1: just being bluntly honest about the whole year.
- 40:02Speaker 2: No real talk, man.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I think that it has changed music though. I think
- 40:05Speaker 1: I think it's almost like I think Drake catching Oki
- 40:09Speaker 1: is great. And if as long as he just keeps
- 40:11Speaker 1: on putting records, it'll he'll I just don't think it
- 40:13Speaker 1: the same.
- 40:14Speaker 2: He's Drake, Doug, He's Drake, but it'll never be the
- 40:17Speaker 2: same for a certain aspect and portion of hip hop fans.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Here's a thing, right, And I said this once before,
- 40:23Speaker 2: it's culture verse commerce, for sure. I think I think
- 40:27Speaker 2: Kendrick's problem well, and I'm speaking for myself, I'm not
- 40:30Speaker 2: speaking for Kendricks, right. I think Kendrick's problem was some
- 40:38Speaker 2: people of commerce come into our culture and turn it
- 40:40Speaker 2: to commerce, right, and this is a thing that that's ours.
- 40:45Speaker 2: It's is something we should be able to have control over,
- 40:47Speaker 2: and at no any given moment should we be looking
- 40:50Speaker 2: at each other asking how did this happen for somebody
- 40:53Speaker 2: we didn't agree with to be here, not saying that
- 40:56Speaker 2: was Drake or whatever it may be. For sure, right,
- 40:58Speaker 2: I think when culture will comes commerce, the person of
- 41:01Speaker 2: culture at that time stood on it and he said, man,
- 41:06Speaker 2: this is our thing, this is what what we're standing on.
- 41:10Speaker 1: And also pointed out a lot of like obvious things
- 41:13Speaker 1: that people just overlooked the whole time because they were
- 41:16Speaker 1: like the commerce part will make people overlook a lot
- 41:19Speaker 1: of shit.
- 41:20Speaker 2: A lot of things, and I think Dot took it
- 41:22Speaker 2: back to culture and just back to ay Man.
- 41:25Speaker 1: We just rapping.
- 41:26Speaker 2: It's the essence of the bars, the sports. It's not
- 41:28Speaker 2: about the hits, it's not about none of this. It's
- 41:31Speaker 2: a friendly like he said, it's a friendly fade. Let's
- 41:33Speaker 2: keep it that way. He did say that, right, and
- 41:36Speaker 2: then let's keep it that way. And then it went
- 41:38Speaker 2: somewhere else. And then when it goes somewhere else, now
- 41:43Speaker 2: you're allowing something to happen, to go further. And the
- 41:47Speaker 2: thing about West Coast niggas is we professional crash out artists.
- 41:51Speaker 2: So the minute that you invite the crash out, it's
- 41:54Speaker 2: gonna happen. It's gonna happen.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and then the super Bowl happens.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Come on, now, the greatest Super Bowl performance of all time.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I agree, I agree, and I know that it's a
- 42:05Speaker 1: polarizing performance, but I think it was very much like
- 42:09Speaker 1: it was what it was art, yeah, which is what.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Deeper than art. It was the story of the black
- 42:15Speaker 2: experience in America.
- 42:16Speaker 1: And compensated in a fifteen minute.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Every bar I write, like my verse on the Exhibit
- 42:23Speaker 2: album is about the Black experience in America. For sure
- 42:26Speaker 2: identify when I write with the Black experience in America.
- 42:30Speaker 2: I'm always trying to make people think about the Black
- 42:33Speaker 2: experience in America. So if you're gonna glorify killing a nigga,
- 42:37Speaker 2: the nigga, you gotta go glorify doing them thirty years.
- 42:41Speaker 2: You gotta glorify doing that life, because that's what come
- 42:43Speaker 2: with it. Don't just tell one side of the story,
- 42:45Speaker 2: tell the whole experience. And what Kendrick did at the
- 42:49Speaker 2: Super Bowl right for the NFL national televisis viewers, Eagles chiefs, right,
- 43:01Speaker 2: he told our story from the Black experience. Man, if
- 43:04Speaker 2: you hate no Net, you hate yourself.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Yeah. It was funny because it was like there was
- 43:09Speaker 1: either people who were Drake fans who said it was
- 43:11Speaker 1: overrated in trash, so that's like one bucket of people.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Then there was people who just didn't get it because
- 43:17Speaker 1: they're like not so I talked generic music fans, but
- 43:22Speaker 1: the hip hop heads are the people who were really
- 43:24Speaker 1: like culturally astute. They were like, yo, this is fucking brilliant.
- 43:28Speaker 2: I talked to a friend of mine who actually works
- 43:31Speaker 2: at the NFL, and she's a white lady, Yeah, not
- 43:38Speaker 2: of the same ethnicity. And she said she didn't understand.
- 43:42Speaker 2: She went to the rehearsals and she's seen the whole thing,
- 43:46Speaker 2: and she just thought it was incredible. She didn't even
- 43:49Speaker 2: know what storyline and everything. And then when it happened
- 43:53Speaker 2: and she seen the storyline hit the internet and all.
- 43:55Speaker 1: These different things, God, she was.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Like, wow, I didn't notice, but it brought awadness to
- 44:01Speaker 2: things she didn't know to where she went and looked
- 44:03Speaker 2: into certain things, and she was texting me like, Yo,
- 44:06Speaker 2: I never knew this happened. I never knew Samuel Jackson
- 44:10Speaker 2: was bringing this up because of such and such and
- 44:12Speaker 2: such as this was an educational moment for the world.
- 44:16Speaker 2: It wasn't just for us, it was for the world.
- 44:18Speaker 2: And our salute bro for standing on that stage in
- 44:22Speaker 2: lending his platform.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Just all of the like trends that came out of
- 44:27Speaker 1: but not like us dance at the Super Bowl.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Everybody was wearing jeans for too much, had a Canadian
- 44:35Speaker 2: tuxio doing tiktoksess crazy crazy, but that's culture.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Has uh did you ever? Because you've been in the
- 44:46Speaker 1: studio with so many artists, what's been the one artist
- 44:49Speaker 1: you were able to be in the lab with with
- 44:50Speaker 1: the music didn't come out on the other side, but
- 44:52Speaker 1: you were just like, was it, Kendrick, Was it? I mean,
- 44:55Speaker 1: I know you've been in with a lot.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Of people a song I did with being in the.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Studio with somebody helping out or just flying flying the
- 45:03Speaker 1: wall in the room like m and I would say Dre. Yeah,
- 45:11Speaker 1: probably the one.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I would say Dre, even though there's more probably names
- 45:16Speaker 2: that would be entertaining for the Internet if I said it,
- 45:18Speaker 2: but to be honest, it would be Dre because Dre
- 45:23Speaker 2: has this attention to detail.
- 45:26Speaker 1: I heard it, I heard it's damn near annoying for
- 45:30Speaker 1: me because it's such a perfections For me.
- 45:32Speaker 2: It wasn't annoying because I was trying to understand the
- 45:36Speaker 2: idea of where he was going with it, and it
- 45:39Speaker 2: was a certain thing he was hearing to where what
- 45:42Speaker 2: I figured out was he was hearing the music as
- 45:46Speaker 2: an engineer how the listener is going to hear it,
- 45:49Speaker 2: and I'm thinking how I want to wrap it, So
- 45:52Speaker 2: he gave me a way to say it. So Yeah,
- 45:56Speaker 2: and he gave me a way to say it based
- 45:58Speaker 2: off how the listener will receive it, and when I
- 46:01Speaker 2: seen it, I was like, damn, Like he pays attention.
- 46:04Speaker 1: To any different way, like one of one detail, detail,
- 46:09Speaker 1: very detailed, and it'll inspire you, like it'll have you like, Damn,
- 46:13Speaker 1: I'm not taking my music serious enough.
- 46:15Speaker 2: I'm not thinking about certain things. Like You'll be in
- 46:18Speaker 2: the studio with Dre and it'll be like these speakers,
- 46:22Speaker 2: these big ass speakers on the wall, and it's just
- 46:24Speaker 2: like you're like, man, well all these speakers in here,
- 46:27Speaker 2: and he like, man, every pocket or that speaker got
- 46:29Speaker 2: a reason.
- 46:30Speaker 1: That's fire. You know what I'm saying.
- 46:32Speaker 2: That's the base, that's the trouble, that's this with So
- 46:35Speaker 2: when you're mixing, like how does it sound it's coming
- 46:37Speaker 2: out that top part of the speaker, how does it
- 46:39Speaker 2: sound to come out the bottom part? Or like he's
- 46:43Speaker 2: he's intricate with it, like all the way.
- 46:46Speaker 1: What are your Obviously somebody who you mentioned earlier who
- 46:51Speaker 1: doesn't have an issue putting out music as our friend
- 46:53Speaker 1: of Russell.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Yeah, shout out to the Russell.
- 46:55Speaker 1: I don't know how many albums he has now, but.
- 46:57Speaker 2: I think he's on forty something like that.
- 47:01Speaker 1: But he's also somebody who's like, you know, fuck man,
- 47:03Speaker 1: the Russell's special guy. Man, he's kind of.
- 47:06Speaker 2: I literally was just watching a video of him talking
- 47:09Speaker 2: to this lady who was I guess she was a
- 47:12Speaker 2: business owner at the theater he was booked at, and
- 47:15Speaker 2: she was complaining about the noise and he just went
- 47:17Speaker 2: over there like so humbly trying to talk to her,
- 47:20Speaker 2: and the lady was just being a complete asshole, like
- 47:24Speaker 2: entitled to having a business next door. Like, lady, you're
- 47:27Speaker 2: next door to a fucking concert.
- 47:28Speaker 1: What do you think was gonna hap?
- 47:29Speaker 2: What do you think is gonna happen?
- 47:31Speaker 1: Ye?
- 47:32Speaker 2: But I just, man, I salute dude, Bro, just for
- 47:35Speaker 2: being a good person, you know, like a lot of people.
- 47:39Speaker 2: Notice I said it before. My mom lives by l Russell.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Like I got.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Family that's in that same neighborhood. It's so many times
- 47:47Speaker 2: that my aunt called me and be like, yeah, I
- 47:49Speaker 2: just ate at Momos. The Russell paid for everybody that's fire,
- 47:52Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Or he took care of
- 47:53Speaker 2: breakfast for everybody today, or whatever it may be. So
- 47:57Speaker 2: I just salute Bro, like he just a good person
- 47:59Speaker 2: at home, or make great music, great rapper, and I
- 48:02Speaker 2: love what he got going on.
- 48:03Speaker 1: You guys should do a joint album. Man, him and
- 48:05Speaker 1: Pilo did a whole fucking album for fos sake. You're independent,
- 48:08Speaker 1: Now get one off. Let let let one off of.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I'm with it.
- 48:11Speaker 2: I don't think the Russell would like my process.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Because it's too uh. I feel like Russell's very We're
- 48:18Speaker 1: feeling it.
- 48:19Speaker 2: It sounds good and I'm gonna be like, uhh, this
- 48:23Speaker 2: hook ain't good enough. This, this drums ain't hitting. This
- 48:26Speaker 2: ship ain't mixed right like this. We gotta change it.
- 48:30Speaker 2: It's not just that it's i have a different level
- 48:33Speaker 2: of taste now. I've developed a different level of things.
- 48:38Speaker 2: I've seen more ship. I've seen why things are the
- 48:43Speaker 2: way they are. I've seen why things work, not what
- 48:46Speaker 2: makes them work, why they work. I've seen the quality
- 48:49Speaker 2: in the work ethic that goes into it. I spent
- 48:52Speaker 2: time with Kanye Was for two weeks in Atlanta.
- 48:54Speaker 1: What was that like?
- 48:55Speaker 2: Incredible?
- 48:58Speaker 1: Don two Dona Donda the first first so at the
- 49:01Speaker 1: at the Falcons School.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I'm there in the stadium for two weeks watching this
- 49:07Speaker 2: whole production.
- 49:09Speaker 1: So I'm seeing this.
- 49:10Speaker 2: And I'm like, this is what I want for myself.
- 49:12Speaker 2: I'm just not at a level to get it.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Yet Kanye wants you to get on the hail Hitler
- 49:17Speaker 1: remix you jumping on it?
- 49:18Speaker 2: No, No, I love Kanye, but he's on some bullshit.
- 49:23Speaker 1: I didn't lie though. That beat is crazy. I love
- 49:26Speaker 1: Kanye like he's one of our great The beat of
- 49:29Speaker 1: that song, if you just play the instrumental, it's so crazy,
- 49:34Speaker 1: for sure.
- 49:35Speaker 2: But it's he's a fucking He's Kanye. He's one of
- 49:39Speaker 2: the most incredible artists that we've ever had.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Do you think this whole thing is like a giant
- 49:48Speaker 1: think piece being being fleshed out to us live? Like
- 49:51Speaker 1: he has an end game and a point he's trying
- 49:54Speaker 1: to make. It's it's it's the way he's trying to make.
- 49:57Speaker 1: It's rather ignorant. No, you don't think so. You don't
- 49:59Speaker 1: think there's any he means to the madness.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I think the man is hurt.
- 50:03Speaker 1: I think he's definitely hurt.
- 50:04Speaker 2: I think the man is hurt, and I don't I
- 50:06Speaker 2: think he don't have people around him to vent to,
- 50:10Speaker 2: to give him honest enough advice to stay off the internet.
- 50:15Speaker 2: That's my opinion. I can be completely wrong. He might
- 50:17Speaker 2: make a tweet about me tomorrow and be like, simple,
- 50:20Speaker 2: you came here and wrote a hook, don't say shit
- 50:21Speaker 2: about me whatever. But I'm saying, at the end of
- 50:25Speaker 2: the day, I don't think the right structure for where
- 50:32Speaker 2: he's at in life, as far as a father wanting
- 50:34Speaker 2: to see his kids, dealing with divorce, being the biggest
- 50:39Speaker 2: star in the world, right, Adidas, dealing with stuff with
- 50:42Speaker 2: your designs, right, And he's been through things that we
- 50:50Speaker 2: haven't seen, right, A lot of things we haven't seen,
- 50:54Speaker 2: things with lawyers, right, trying to get his master's back,
- 50:57Speaker 2: or things with his children in court. We don't know
- 50:59Speaker 2: these things. That's probably driving him to this point to
- 51:02Speaker 2: say these type of things.
- 51:03Speaker 1: I think he's also probably to the point that if
- 51:07Speaker 1: you're not a yes man, you're gonna be excommunicated rather quickly.
- 51:11Speaker 1: It feels like anybody who's semi critical of what he's doing.
- 51:16Speaker 2: And I think that's unhealthy.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Now I do. I do. I did say this because
- 51:21Speaker 1: I was like, Yo, there's there are people who have
- 51:23Speaker 1: criticized him publicly who are supposed to be his quote
- 51:26Speaker 1: unquote friends, who I hope would have had that conversation
- 51:28Speaker 1: with him personally first, or attempted to before publicly doing that.
- 51:35Speaker 2: You know, I just think as a man, Bro, you
- 51:38Speaker 2: represent more than you.
- 51:41Speaker 1: And even him like as a as a as a man,
- 51:45Speaker 1: but also as a I mean, he's he can't, you know,
- 51:49Speaker 1: be ignorant to the fact that he's the most influential
- 51:51Speaker 1: artist of all times.
- 51:52Speaker 2: But that's kind of way, that's kind of what I'm saying.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Is not only a man as as you just said,
- 51:58Speaker 2: one of the most influential artists of all times, you
- 52:01Speaker 2: have a responsible.
- 52:02Speaker 1: I think he's the most implant artist.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Might be, might be right, whatever it is, you still
- 52:07Speaker 2: have a responsibility as the titles that you are. Outside
- 52:12Speaker 2: of being that right, outside of being the greatest artist
- 52:17Speaker 2: of all time, You're still a father for sure. You're
- 52:19Speaker 2: still a son, You're still somebody husband, You're still a friend.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I'm still your friend, keV. If somebody call me right
- 52:28Speaker 2: now and tell me a bootleg keV says such and
- 52:31Speaker 2: such and such and such about you, I'm gonna call you,
- 52:34Speaker 2: even if they tell me and say, don't tell him.
- 52:36Speaker 1: I told you.
- 52:37Speaker 2: I'm gonna call you as your friend because we have
- 52:40Speaker 2: a vow to each other that we friends, and I'm
- 52:42Speaker 2: gonna say, hey, Bro, did you say such and such
- 52:44Speaker 2: and such and such because this person said that. And
- 52:47Speaker 2: if you tell me no, I'm gonna believe you because
- 52:49Speaker 2: that person told me not to tell you, and we
- 52:52Speaker 2: gonna keep that amongst us. I think he's missing that,
- 52:55Speaker 2: and I think he goes to Twitter and he lets
- 52:58Speaker 2: it all out and he needs a friend and to.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Talk to him, because then he's like with all these streamers.
- 53:04Speaker 2: And it's wild because you got people that take advantage
- 53:08Speaker 2: of it. You got people that literally pull up and
- 53:11Speaker 2: act like they fuck with him as a person just
- 53:13Speaker 2: to get a moment podcast to be able to blow up.
- 53:16Speaker 2: And it's like, bro, you making this man look crazy
- 53:19Speaker 2: as a father when he.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Go to court. Yeah, we're in a weird place where
- 53:23Speaker 1: like there's like people who aren't even hip hop fans
- 53:30Speaker 1: who are somehow like dictating conversations. Like I like the
- 53:34Speaker 1: Aiden Ross dude talking about DOCI, was like, like, who
- 53:37Speaker 1: the fuck is this?
- 53:38Speaker 2: Fuck Aiden Ross.
- 53:39Speaker 1: He's a bitch.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Fuck Aiden Ross, and I mean that with everything. Listen
- 53:43Speaker 2: to me. I'm not saying this on no threatening shit,
- 53:48Speaker 2: but I'm saying fuck Aiden Ross for disrespecting that black woman.
- 53:52Speaker 2: Doci was at a met gala, probably had a moment
- 53:57Speaker 2: of being irritated and things going on. You don't know
- 54:01Speaker 2: what it's like in that moment dealing with all of that.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Who the fuck is you to speak to that woman
- 54:06Speaker 2: like that? Fuck you and fuck everything you got going
- 54:09Speaker 2: on for speaking of that black woman like that. We
- 54:11Speaker 2: salute DOCI, We support DOCI, and we stand by DOCI
- 54:15Speaker 2: in her moments of being frustrated and her greatest moments
- 54:18Speaker 2: of winning a Grammy Nigga. We culture and this is
- 54:20Speaker 2: what we stand on. Fuck you, you're a guest here. You
- 54:24Speaker 2: have no right to talk to that woman like that
- 54:26Speaker 2: because you ain't good enough to even say nothing to her.
- 54:28Speaker 1: I don't even think.
- 54:29Speaker 2: I don't even know what makes him a guest because
- 54:32Speaker 2: he's not a hip hop The internet makes them.
- 54:34Speaker 1: It's just crazy because I remember seeing him and Kyle
- 54:37Speaker 1: from the Nelkboys, and I'm cool with Kyle, but I
- 54:39Speaker 1: remember hearing them talk about euphoria. Yeah, and I was.
- 54:42Speaker 1: I put a comment under the video and I said,
- 54:45Speaker 1: this is like watching two blind people discuss what a
- 54:49Speaker 1: Picasso painting looks like because they have no fucking.
- 54:53Speaker 2: No, you're not even from this, You're not from this.
- 54:56Speaker 2: You don't know the frustrations of being a black woman
- 54:58Speaker 2: at the Met gala.
- 54:59Speaker 1: It's like, Drake fans aren't always hip hop fans. Fact
- 55:03Speaker 1: to me, Like those guys are like they're Drake fans,
- 55:06Speaker 1: they're not fucking hip hop fans, bro, Like, like these guys.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Saw that shit pissed me off because what it showed
- 55:13Speaker 2: me is, y'all, motherfuckers is getting too entitled. Fact, y'all
- 55:17Speaker 2: getting too entitled to speak up on things that ain't
- 55:20Speaker 2: got nothing to do with y'all. That woman is dealing
- 55:23Speaker 2: with something at the Met gallon that ain't got shit
- 55:24Speaker 2: to do with you, and you calling her a piece
- 55:26Speaker 2: of shit. How she spoke to her team, Bro, you
- 55:28Speaker 2: don't know what was going on that day, and so
- 55:30Speaker 2: shut the fuck up.
- 55:32Speaker 1: And anybody who can listen to her project and say,
- 55:35Speaker 1: you know that she.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Ain't no mean as the industry playing ship she is.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Like I said, it was the Alum of the Year
- 55:42Speaker 1: last year, way early. I'm like, yo, this is by
- 55:45Speaker 1: far incredible, by far, body of work, by far, artistically,
- 55:49Speaker 1: she's insane. And anybody who doesn't, let's just.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Be real, that girl, that girl was vlogging five years
- 55:57Speaker 2: ago trying to get herself know who what fuck is
- 56:00Speaker 2: you for sure as an industry plant to call her
- 56:04Speaker 2: an industry plant she worked for that shit.
- 56:06Speaker 1: It's crazy. I think these streamer dudes make so much
- 56:09Speaker 1: money and that's fine because they develop a card and
- 56:13Speaker 1: all that money. I'm not even talking about like I like,
- 56:15Speaker 1: I like high, but I'm talking about like, there's all
- 56:17Speaker 1: these gambling deals people are getting there, getting all this
- 56:19Speaker 1: fucking money, and it almost feels like people can equate
- 56:23Speaker 1: the fact that they have fuck you money to being
- 56:25Speaker 1: like just shitty h Like, bro, you not on me.
- 56:31Speaker 2: I can't speak for other rappers and other entertainers when
- 56:34Speaker 2: they come to me. Ain't no way in the fuck
- 56:38Speaker 2: if I ran across aiden Ross right now, I'm not
- 56:40Speaker 2: gonna say nothing to them right I'm gonna say something, bro,
- 56:43Speaker 2: because you got to be accountable for what you said
- 56:45Speaker 2: to that black woman. And I'm a black man. So
- 56:47Speaker 2: if I let you say that shit and I don't
- 56:50Speaker 2: check you, I'm just allowing you to think this shit
- 56:52Speaker 2: is cool.
- 56:52Speaker 1: The thing that sucks is there's still gonna be countless
- 56:56Speaker 1: artists that that's cool.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Y'all can do what trouble, But I'm like, yo, go
- 56:59Speaker 2: on to stream at least check y'all could do what
- 57:01Speaker 2: y'all gonna do. Y'all can go to his stream, y'all
- 57:03Speaker 2: can do all of that. That stream ain't that important
- 57:06Speaker 2: to me.
- 57:07Speaker 1: And it's also how you disrespect. It's not translating the
- 57:12Speaker 1: fucking you selling records.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Man, It ain't that stream. Ain't that important to me
- 57:15Speaker 2: for what you did to that black woman and how
- 57:17Speaker 2: you spoke on her. So until you apologize or until
- 57:20Speaker 2: you got something to fix that, nigga is fuck you.
- 57:23Speaker 2: And if I see you, it's fuck you, mister Ross period.
- 57:28Speaker 2: Shout out the doc Alligator Bites don't healed in stores now?
- 57:32Speaker 1: All right? So music coming to and you're just working
- 57:33Speaker 1: out a deal.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Essentially, we're working out home, We're working out some monuments, taking.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Meetings, figuring it out, figuring out everything. The meetings have
- 57:43Speaker 1: been great.
- 57:43Speaker 2: But I know where I'm going and the person who
- 57:46Speaker 2: I've been talking to know where I'm going. And it's
- 57:48Speaker 2: not a traditional record label theme. No, it's not real,
- 57:55Speaker 2: but it is something untraditional. And this is a a
- 58:01Speaker 2: great friend of mine that I met a few years ago,
- 58:04Speaker 2: and we just kind of see things the same way.
- 58:07Speaker 1: You about to sign the Gilbert Arenas. No, I kind
- 58:09Speaker 1: of ask. He's got stupid money. I don't know. You
- 58:12Speaker 1: gotta spend gil.
- 58:14Speaker 2: So gil created a show called battle Mode that started
- 58:17Speaker 2: from our group chat. We were all playing video games,
- 58:19Speaker 2: so he went and created this show. So we all
- 58:21Speaker 2: are that was in the group chat.
- 58:23Speaker 1: I saw you're just bowling with him. I didn't know
- 58:25Speaker 1: you're a good bowler because we.
- 58:26Speaker 2: Battle every day. Okay, so it's a competitive Nature's Nick Young.
- 58:30Speaker 1: If I send you over, I have an og Wizards jersey?
- 58:32Speaker 1: Were you going to sign for me? Yess?
- 58:34Speaker 2: Matter of fact, what are you doing next Friday? What
- 58:37Speaker 2: are you doing May thirtieth?
- 58:39Speaker 1: I don't know. Probably be here.
- 58:40Speaker 2: May thirty if we're doing the championship of our basketball game,
- 58:44Speaker 2: you should come and bring your Wizards jersey and he'll
- 58:46Speaker 2: sign it.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Right there for you. Gilbert Arenas, man, let's make that happen.
- 58:50Speaker 1: An Arizona Wildcat.
- 58:52Speaker 2: Great, let's make that happen. No, it's a it's a
- 58:55Speaker 2: it's a big thing that we're working on. It's just
- 58:57Speaker 2: taking a little time. It's very un unconventional. It's something
- 59:01Speaker 2: that's new in this space. And these are great people
- 59:07Speaker 2: and they have great vision. For fox sake. Put some
- 59:09Speaker 2: music out for fox sake. It's coming, I promise you,
- 59:11Speaker 2: but like, don't overthink it. I'm not you are I
- 59:15Speaker 2: promise you.
- 59:15Speaker 1: I'm not a fucking great overthinker. I promise you.
- 59:18Speaker 2: I'm not all right.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I promise you. I'm not.
- 59:20Speaker 2: It's coming. Well, that and beyond a lot of stuff
- 59:25Speaker 2: I feel like rapping.
