- 0:00I'm a millionaire. That seems ridiculous. I'm a
- 0:03multi-millionaire and there are five things I know about
- 0:06money that most people will never learn. Not because they're complicated. Not
- 0:10because they're hard to understand, but because nobody wants to tell you.
- 0:14The system is obviously designed to keep you broke. It's designed to keep you
- 0:17working. It's designed to keep you dependent. And
- 0:21the people who benefit from that system, they don't want you to
- 0:24know how it actually works. But I'm gonna tell you. These are the five
- 0:27money secrets that separate the wealthy from everyone
- 0:31else. These are the things that built my wealth. And
- 0:34these are the exact opposite of what you've been taught your
- 0:38entire life. I'm Lloyd James Ross, seven figure investor and
- 0:41entrepreneur and I've helped thousands of business owners and professionals turn
- 0:45financial stress into success. If you're stuck in old money
- 0:48habits, overwhelmed by investing or unsure where to start, this
- 0:52is for you. I'll give you the mindset and strategies to take control,
- 0:56grow your wealth and achieve financial freedom. It's time to
- 0:59make your money work for you. One, millionaires don't chase income, they
- 1:03build cashflow. The biggest lie money is that a high salary equals
- 1:06wealth. What millionaires actually do is they separate income
- 1:10from cashflow, they build assets that pay them repeatedly,
- 1:15and they focus on money that arrives without trading hours for
- 1:18it. That's how they do it, right? So wealth isn't about
- 1:22how much you earn, it never has been, never will be, it's actually about how
- 1:25much you earn and keep and deploy. that
- 1:30then keeps coming back to you again and again and again and again, right?
- 1:33Number two, they avoid bad debt like a disease. Debt
- 1:37isn't neutral. Millionaires understand the difference between productive
- 1:41debt that grows assets and destructive debt
- 1:45that funds consumption. They're the two different types. So
- 1:49they avoid credit cards for lifestyle, car
- 1:53loans that depreciate, buy now pay later traps. Poor
- 1:57people use debt to look rich. Wealthy people use
- 2:01debt to own cash producing assets. That's
- 2:04the difference. So with our laundromat business that we bought,
- 2:08we use debt to finance the whole thing. Why? Because it pulls in about 40% net
- 2:12return and the debt only costs eight. That's a winning combination.
- 2:16But it doesn't work if you're borrowing money to buy things that don't produce. It
- 2:19just does not work like that, right? Number three, they buy
- 2:23assets first and lifestyle second. Most people
- 2:26get it backwards. Once they start earning more, they want to upgrade their lifestyle to
- 2:30look rich and then they stay broke. Millionaires do it in
- 2:33reverse. We make money, we save some, we
- 2:36buy assets. We let assets then pay for some of that lifestyle.
- 2:40For example, recently I went to Thailand with my wife for a month. As
- 2:44we're checking out, we got a dividend paycheck, bang, landed in my bank account and
- 2:47the whole dividend check paid for our entire life. vacation. So
- 2:51we use the passive income to pay for the lifestyle. And
- 2:54of course, over time, I upgrade my lifestyle, but I do it
- 2:58slowly and deliberately. I don't do it quickly. I'm not suggesting you
- 3:01have to stay in the same house or your same car,
- 3:05but over time, upgrade slowly and steadily and predictably and
- 3:08deliberately. This single habit explains Why
- 3:12many high-income earners do stay poor and why quiet investors
- 3:16do get rich right now before they understand time is
- 3:20more valuable than money I wrote a book on it become time rich time
- 3:23is more valuable Not even time is not money time is more valuable than
- 3:27money right so millionaires obsess over leverage of
- 3:30time not just money So there's a couple of things that millionaires ask
- 3:33themselves that most people don't. One, can this be
- 3:37automated? Sometimes I don't go and do something until I'm like, well,
- 3:40can I do this? And can I do it again and again and again? And can someone do it for me? So
- 3:44automation, can a system do this for me, right? Number two, can
- 3:47it be outsourced? Can it be delegated? Who can do this for me? The
- 3:50who, not the how. And of course, can it be systemized? If
- 3:54you can understand and ask yourself those questions, every hour
- 3:58you save is an hour you can be reinvested back into learning,
- 4:02health, relationships, and opportunity. So anytime you
- 4:05save time, you can do those things more. And then you start to scale those
- 4:09things. So money buys time. time
- 4:13builds wealth. Just quickly, if you're ready to take control of your finances but
- 4:16feel stuck on where to start, I have a solution. My
- 4:19book, Money Buys Happiness, simplifies investing and
- 4:22wealth building with practical steps to help you achieve financial peace.
- 4:27Get your copy via the link in the show notes and let's get your money working for
- 4:30you. Now back to the episode. John D. Rockefeller used to have a great saying.
- 4:33He said that the busy man has no time left to make money. And
- 4:37so you don't wanna get caught up in doing everything yourself, everything yourself, everything yourself.
- 4:40It takes a little bit of time to learn to delegate, automate, and
- 4:43systematize. But once you've done it, it will pay
- 4:46you dividends forever. And that's how you compound your time and compound your
- 4:50wealth. Number five, millionaires think in decades, not
- 4:54weeks. So I'm thinking over the next 10 and 20 years. This is the
- 4:57big separator. Millionaires, based on that thinking, will
- 5:00delay gratification, ignore short-term noise, and let
- 5:03compound do the heavy lifting. Here's an example. Recently, I've positioned
- 5:07a lot of our capital into Chinese tech, because I look over the next 10, 20 years,
- 5:10China's becoming a preeminent superpower. It's way ahead in the
- 5:13race for AI. It's way ahead in energy. And it's way ahead in
- 5:17some of its companies. If you go to places like Chongqing and you go
- 5:20to places like Shenzhen, you'll see it's also well ahead in how it actually
- 5:24builds cities. And so based on that, I'm positioning capital
- 5:27for the next 10 and 20 years of compounding. And that's how your money can make
- 5:31money fruitfully for a very long period of time. I'm not thinking about the noise of
- 5:35you know, delisting in China. No, I'm not thinking that. I'm
- 5:38thinking beyond the noise. Where's the signal, right? So
- 5:43I can then let compound interest do the heavy lifting for me. So most
- 5:46people quit because results don't come fast enough, but millionaires win because we
- 5:50stay in the game long enough, all right? Compounding only
- 5:54works if you don't interrupt it unnecessarily. Charlie Emunga said that. So
- 5:58the common thread about all these points that no one talks about
- 6:01is this, all five secrets share this one specific
- 6:05trait. They're boring, they lack excitement, and they don't sell
- 6:09well on social media. Maybe that's why if you come
- 6:12to my channels, you may not see me like, you know, do one of these exciting
- 6:15things because at the end of the day, I want to be wealthy and I'm gonna look wealthy. Does
- 6:18that make sense? Right? And that's why they work. Wealth
- 6:22is built quietly while everyone else is distracted. And
- 6:27this distracts people so much. They're like, where's my quick win? Where's my quick
- 6:30win? Right? So the real reason why these secrets aren't taught is
- 6:34because if they were, consumer debt would collapse, lifestyle
- 6:38inflation would slow down, and people would stop chasing status. And
- 6:42the economy runs on people not knowing these
- 6:45things. So here's a final thought. Millionaires, I mean,
- 6:48we don't hide secrets. But we do hide discipline. If
- 6:52you follow me around, someone said to me the other day, they said, Lloyd, why don't you get someone to follow you around? I'm like,
- 6:56ah, it wouldn't sell. Why not? Because I'm disciplined in areas. In
- 7:00all my areas, I'm disciplined. And discipline is so boring. It's
- 7:03so predictable. It's basic. It's monotonous. And that does not
- 7:07sell. It is not sexy. So that's why I don't have someone follow me around.
- 7:10Because you're like, oh, is that how you build wealth? How boring. But
- 7:13a lot of these people on Instagram and so forth are like, wow, they must be so rich and
- 7:16they're broke as hell because they're just giving you an entertainment experience.
- 7:20They're just eliciting dopamine from you. I'm not in the business of that. This
- 7:24is all about giving you what you need and not selling you what
- 7:27you want. So it's not exciting, but
- 7:31it'll give you freedom. So if you want more episodes like this, hit
