• 0:47
Speaker 1: There, doesn't make any difference.
• 0:49
Speaker 1: We always need more.

Speaker 1: Jeff Zekin, he's abandoned me too, and our chief engineer, david Ainsley, he too has abandoned me.
• 0:56
Speaker 1: Are we even on the air?
• 0:58
Speaker 1: I don't even know, howdy, I'm Don Armstrong, glad that you could join us today.
• 1:02
Speaker 1: Are we on this microphone now?
• 1:06
Speaker 1: No, we're not on that microphone, yet we got lots of stuff going on here that is preventing me doing the things that I need to do.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Now I'm on, okay, so we're going to switch over to this microphone and come back here to Serene oh, you're coming back to see me, I am, I'm coming back to see you.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: Oh, I'm so excited I've missed you.
• 1:28
Speaker 1: Don, I know I am too.
• 1:28
Speaker 1: You are so terribly I did so let's talk about the Corvette.
• 1:33
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 1:34
Speaker 1: And we kind of go over what we've already done.
• 1:37
Speaker 1: Obviously, the car is not as nice as it once was because it's got a lot of dirt in the paint it does.
• 1:44
Speaker 2: It needs some love.
• 1:45
Speaker 1: It does need some love.
• 1:46
Speaker 1: So there's the before, there's the after.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: Ooh, baby butt smooth and over.
• 1:52
Speaker 1: Here we've done some magic with a buffer.
• 1:56
Speaker 2: That, we did, that, we did.
• 1:57
Speaker 2: I mean, I do magic on a daily basis.
• 1:59
Speaker 1: Aren't you glad that you don't have me in here trying to buff anything?
• 2:07
Speaker 2: I'm very glad about that.
• 2:08
Speaker 1: I would love if you'd come in and commentate all day long.
• 2:09
Speaker 1: Well, actually, here's what I was thinking.
• 2:10
Speaker 1: I was thinking that I could probably get that 1970 Chevy no, chevy Biscayne Okay, white in color with the nice ridge down the hood, and I can show you how to go right through the paint right down to the primer.
• 2:24
Speaker 2: How to get a nice gray racing stripe.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: Actually it was black.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: For whatever reason, they used black.
• 2:29
Speaker 1: Primer on that particular car.
• 2:30
Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, gracious yeah.
• 2:32
Speaker 1: And so off to the paint shop.
• 2:34
Speaker 1: It went for a new paint on the hood, correct.
• 2:37
Speaker 2: Anyway, so what I want to show you over here though is so we've got our three different.
• 2:43
Speaker 2: We've got our three different coatings that we tend to use the most of Ceramic Ultra.
• 2:48
Speaker 2: Now this is our lowest coating.
• 2:50
Speaker 2: This one is, I believe now don't quote me on all of this, because my brain is shot.
• 2:56
Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
• 2:56
Speaker 2: I've been doing this too long, but I want to say, if I remember correctly, it's a three-year, five-year and a seven-year coating.
• 3:02
Speaker 2: So the warranty Ooh look five-year and a seven-year coating.
• 3:07
Speaker 2: So the warranty look at the pretty bottles this is seven years.
• 3:08
Speaker 2: This one is a whole science experiment and I actually have to sit there with a scale I measure them out.
• 3:11
Speaker 2: They have to be equal parts of one and two as well.
• 3:14
Speaker 2: So this one, this one's a lot of fun, but this one this is the one I was telling you about that is a 2500 coating is this the one that you're going to put on my corvette?
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: sure do I.
• 3:24
Speaker 1: Do I get that?
• 3:24
  Speaker 4: $25,000 as a tip.
• 3:26
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 3:27
Speaker 5: Righteous, that's my man right there.
• 3:29
  Speaker 1: That's it.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: He's just going to pay me directly.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: Mars has the paychecks and he handles all of the finances here at the In Wheel Time.
• 3:36
  Speaker 2: Show.
• 3:37
Speaker 2: So you're just going to sign his paychecks over to Serene now.
• 3:39
Speaker 2: For the next five years For the next five years.
• 3:42
Speaker 2: For the next five years, you're my favorite.
• 3:43
  Speaker 1: You're my favorite.
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: There's a payment plan.
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: I like it.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: That works for me, all right.
• 3:47
Speaker 2: All right, so yeah, so those are the coatings that we do tend to use the absolute most of.
• 3:53
Speaker 1: I will tell you that the Fine Lab Renseless Car Wash it works great, I do too.
• 4:01
Speaker 1: Now I don't have a big bottle like that.
• 4:04
Speaker 1: I have the small individual bottle that you mix down into.
• 4:07
Speaker 1: At least all I did I mixed it into a bucket of water while I was on the road and it worked great.
• 4:12
Speaker 2: The bottle you have is probably about the same size as this one I don't remember.
• 4:15
Speaker 2: This is also their interior cleaner.
• 4:17
Speaker 2: But you can get a pre-mix rinseless.
• 4:19
Speaker 1: Did you notice that I changed the seats in the Corvette?
• 4:22
Speaker 2: I did and I remember when you brought it in and got new wheels and I don't did we coach your wheels.
• 4:26
Speaker 1: Yes, you did Okay.
• 4:26
Speaker 2: I was like, did we?
• 4:28
  Speaker 1: I couldn't remember.
• 4:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, so just to let you know that I put a new set of wheels on it because the other old set of wheels were leaking.
• 4:35
  Speaker 2: I remember that's right.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: You told me about that and they were leaking because inside the bead, inside where the tire touches the bead, yeah, it was all deteriorated and so it couldn't seal well, those were the original wheels.
• 4:49
Speaker 1: No, they weren't the original, they were aftermarket chinese wheels.
• 4:52
  Speaker 1: Well, that's but.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: But the problem was is that when they mounted the tires back in the day they don't do it anymore, they use soapy water.
• 4:59
Speaker 1: Well, the water would get caught between the tire and the bead on the wheel it and it would rust it.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: Well, it ate it away.
• 5:07
  Speaker 2: Oh gosh.
• 5:07
Speaker 2: So yeah, you can't get a good contact to actually seal it, and so it leaked.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: I'm thinking well, wait a minute, I've changed the valve stems, I've done everything.
• 5:16
Speaker 1: I know how to do, and the guy says it's never going to seal because it's all eaten away inside.
• 5:21
Speaker 1: So I had to buy a new set of wheels, but those are C6, z06 wheels.
• 5:28
Speaker 2: I like those ones.
• 5:28
Speaker 2: I do too, actually, I really do, I do too.
• 5:31
Speaker 1: They're what they call a smoky chrome.
• 5:33
  Speaker 1: I wanted a darker chrome.
• 5:35
  Speaker 1: Ah chrome.
• 5:37
  Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, Anyway.
• 5:41
Speaker 1: So I got those on there and I really like those.
• 5:43
Speaker 1: They set the car off nicely.
• 5:45
Speaker 1: I'm not a big black wheel guy.
• 5:48
Speaker 2: You know, these days there's too many people that go black on black, on black, on black on black and it's the whole car I need a little something to pop there, and Serene was nice enough if you can see this to see the little Corvette emblem in there.
• 6:02
Speaker 1: She glued that in there for me.
• 6:04
  Speaker 1: I did.
• 6:04
Speaker 1: I made sure that it was Corvette emblem in there.
• 6:09
Speaker 1: She glued that in there for me, so we don't have the brake dust ugliness correct some, but not bad yes fine labs.
• 6:13
Speaker 2: Wheel and caliper coating actually prevents the hot brake dust from adhering to the inside.
• 6:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, so I mean it's not like, oh, they're gonna be gleamingly clean all the time, but they're a lot easier to keep clean you know because you remember the old, old beamers, old vets, all that, and you'd find right in the corner of the spokes and it just be eaten away from all that hot brake dust.
• 6:35
Speaker 1: The other thing, too, I wanted to point out while I'm here, Mr Mars, is I wanted to.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: I want you to talk about this stuff.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: It's my new Corbeau seats from Pro-Am Auto Accessories.
• 6:47
Speaker 1: There they are and they look so good in there.
• 6:49
Speaker 1: I did not get the plastic pleather or whatever you want to call them, because I want the comfort of a cloth interior and I like those.
• 6:57
Speaker 2: I like the bolsters on them.
• 6:59
Speaker 2: It kind of hugs you in you know which is really really quite nice.
• 7:03
Speaker 1: So now the one thing that you mentioned to me earlier.
• 7:06
Speaker 1: Oh, dawn, we've got some stuff for this rubber here we do I actually?
• 7:09
Speaker 2: I kind of spaced that.
• 7:10
Speaker 2: I'm glad you said that to me.
• 7:11
Speaker 2: So Fine Lab actually makes a black plastic coating, so it's meant specifically for your older vehicles to bring your black back.
• 7:21
Speaker 2: Careful how you say older, older, older I'm older than this thing, so it's just older, it's not old.
• 7:29
Speaker 1: So what does it do?
• 7:30
Speaker 1: Does it take away this ugliness that's on there?
• 7:33
Speaker 2: So what it's going to do is, obviously, when we prep the surface to begin with, we're going to actually scrub this stuff.
• 7:38
Speaker 2: We're going to try to actually remove as much of this debris and contaminants you know that we can before we put the coating on, but the coating itself is actually going to bring it back to almost an original black Beautiful.
• 7:51
Speaker 2: We all know how Jeep plastics do.
• 7:53
Speaker 2: I own a Jeep Wrangler and almost a year ago I did front bumper, back bumper and all four fenders and I have yet to have them die back.
• 8:01
Speaker 2: This stuff, I don't know if you remember back in the day there used to be this stuff called TC Black and so it was a black plastic die.
• 8:09
Speaker 2: This stuff was disgusting.
• 8:11
Speaker 2: It would go on thick and then you could see weird pad streaks and it was the grossest stuff to even try to apply.
• 8:17
Speaker 2: So but this new stuff I'll tell you what every single car I put it on literally just pops because it brings that plastic back to an original new, not a high gloss like oh, I covered it in Armor, All Armor.
• 8:32
  Speaker 1: All.
• 8:32
  Speaker 2: Armor All.
• 8:33
Speaker 1: Armor, all Armor, all.
• 8:34
Speaker 1: That's the worst stuff ever.
• 8:36
Speaker 1: It was great when it first came out, because it was nothing like it.
• 8:38
Speaker 2: Exactly, but that was back in the day of the paste turtle wax too.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: Back in my day.
• 8:45
Speaker 3: Exactly day of the paste turtle wax too.
• 8:46
Speaker 5: back in my days that's what you wanted to say so here's my plan.
• 8:49
Speaker 1: Yes, I gotta have that harmonic balancer replaced and I'm taking it up to the northwest side.
• 8:54
Speaker 1: So when I get that done and get all that mess fixed up in the engine compartment, yeah then I'm going to bring it to you, because I have to have it ready for the hot rod tour.
• 9:02
Speaker 2: Okay, that's my goal and that's going to be april please do bring it to me, because I actually I have it ready for the hot rod tour.
• 9:08
Speaker 2: Okay, that's my goal and that's going to be April.
• 9:09
Speaker 2: Please do bring it to me because I actually I've got some new stuff that I kind of want to try out, and of course you know I'm always going to try stuff on your car.
• 9:13
Speaker 1: You put it so perfectly, perfectly, the last time I was in here.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: You know, this is my baby.
• 9:17
Speaker 1: I love is going to will this car to me, right?
• 9:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, because no one else is ever going to take care of it the way I will.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: Well, not only that, but how many people know how to drive a six-speed manual transmission anymore?
• 9:29
Speaker 2: Nobody, you do, I do.
• 9:30
Speaker 2: I'm the only one who could drive that thing in it's four-speed.
• 9:33
Speaker 1: No one could find reverse, but me, by the way, let's go over here and look at that while we have the opportunity turn around.
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: Is this a 65?
• 9:41
  Speaker 2: This is.
• 9:42
Speaker 1: This is a 1965 Corvette, so this is a 65, what they call a Roadster, and the one thing that I noticed right off the bat, it's got a hard top also.
• 9:54
Speaker 2: It does and it actually.
• 9:55
Speaker 2: The soft top is still in the back.
• 9:57
Speaker 2: It is actually in very good condition, except for that vinyl window kind of turns.
• 10:01
Speaker 2: You know the yellow, but other than that you know it's in great condition.
• 10:06
Speaker 2: This thing, when it came to us actually….
• 10:07
  Speaker 1: Wait a minute.
• 10:08
Speaker 1: This is not a stock motor, though.
• 10:10
Speaker 2: No, this is an LS.
• 10:11
Speaker 1: Yes, this is an LS motor.
• 10:12
Speaker 2: But it does still have the four-speed transmission.
• 10:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw that.
• 10:19
Speaker 2: Trust me, I got underneath it.
• 10:21
Speaker 2: I had toless on the underside, but when this thing showed up to us, I mean there was so much staining, there was green stuff growing on the outside.
• 10:29
Speaker 2: People had taped things down, so this was a complete and total garage barn find.
• 10:34
Speaker 1: So this thing, Well, it looks brand new it really does.
• 10:38
Speaker 2: I found bird seed on the interior.
• 10:41
  Speaker 1: Bird seed.
• 10:41
  Speaker 2: Bird seed.
• 10:42
Speaker 2: And no, it wasn't from my mouth.
• 10:44
Speaker 1: Sitting in there you know you sure it was bird seed and not some other kind of seed?
• 10:48
Speaker 2: No, I'm pretty sure it was bird seed all right just check it okay, just making sure but this thing I mean this thing just turned out better than I anticipated.
• 11:00
Speaker 1: You know when I can actually this is the way my car is going to feel after you get done with it, isn't it?
• 11:04
  Speaker 1: Oh?
• 11:04
Speaker 2: yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah even the chrome looks good.
• 11:08
Speaker 1: Did you mess with the chrome?
• 11:09
  Speaker 2: I did.
• 11:09
Speaker 2: I actually polished out the chrome as well yeah, it's going to buff off the black.
• 11:12
Speaker 2: It's beautiful you and this whole interior was so dirty, so dusty.
• 11:18
Speaker 2: I am so impressed with how it actually came back.
• 11:21
Speaker 2: It came back to life.
• 11:22
Speaker 1: It was this particular model except it was a hard talk this particular model of Corvette that got me enamored by Corvettes and I was just a boy.
• 11:32
Speaker 1: And it was that McRobert Chevrolet over on Post Oak.
• 11:36
Speaker 1: You wouldn't know about that, but I was sitting in the showroom and it was all locked and I had to peep through the passenger side window to look inside.
• 11:44
Speaker 1: A couple of things stand out.
• 11:46
Speaker 1: One is the way to open it here on the inside with the knob there and the radio is turned sideways, but all of the lettering is straight up and down and it's got the am and the fm switch on it as well.
• 12:02
Speaker 1: Uh it, just some stupid stuff like that that I remember very well about this car.
• 12:06
Speaker 1: But uh, I actually I actually did a uh, a kind of a partnership with the guy that worked in the automotive department over at Richardson Chevrolet and he had bought one and it was really raggedy, and so we cleaned it all up.
• 12:23
Speaker 1: I cleaned up underneath the hood and made myself a little money off of it because he flipped the car.
• 12:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, might as well if you can.
• 12:29
  Speaker 1: You know what.
• 12:30
Speaker 2: I fell in love with Corvettes about the time I was in third grade and started listening to the Beach Boys.
• 12:36
Speaker 2: The Beach Boys is literally what made me fall in love with old school cars like these.
• 12:40
Speaker 2: And you want to know something funny Even though I am younger, I have seen the Beach Boys live in concert.
• 12:47
Speaker 2: I saw them when I was in third grade and I still loved it.
• 12:51
  Speaker 2: I don't care.
• 12:52
Speaker 1: Thank you, serene hey you know what.
• 12:54

• 16:04
Speaker 5: We're drawing it today.
• 16:05
Speaker 5: It's for ceramic coating or a choice of partial front PPF.
• 16:13
Speaker 1: Okay, okay, very good.
• 16:15
Speaker 1: So who's going to do the drawing?
• 16:17
Speaker 1: I guess I am there you go.
• 16:18
Speaker 4: John sent me here, okay, well that's good, so let's do it, do they have to be present to win.
• 16:23
Speaker 5: No, oh no, we have the information on the tickets.
• 16:25
Speaker 1: Okay, okay, all right.
• 16:30
Speaker 5: Okay, okay, okay, I got Harris Watts.
• 16:36
  Speaker 1: Harris Watts.
• 16:36
Speaker 1: Yes, is Harris Watts here?

• 19:52
Speaker 1: Nissan at number three, lincoln at number four and Ford at number five.
• 19:57
Speaker 1: Well, I thought that was an interesting little tidbit, just saying yeah, I'm just watching our engineer warm up in the sun.
• 20:07
Speaker 4: What are you doing?
• 20:08
  Speaker 1: David.
• 20:08
Speaker 1: He's warming up in the sun.
• 20:10
  Speaker 4: I don't blame you.
• 20:10
Speaker 4: You want to use my other glove.
• 20:11
Speaker 4: He's like a dog, like an old dog.
• 20:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, hey, hey.
• 20:14
Speaker 1: Tougher sourcing rules for battery minerals took effect in the new year have reduced the number of electrified nameplates eligible for a federal tax credit worth up to $7,500 for vehicle buyers.
• 20:28
Speaker 1: More plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles have been approved for the tax credit in 2025, then in 2024, up 27.
• 20:44
Speaker 1: Evs from Cadillac, chevy, honda, acura, ford and Tesla continue to be eligible for the full $7,500.
• 20:48
Speaker 1: Do you care about the other ones?
• 20:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, just don't go there because you ain't going to get the $7,500.
• 20:53
  Speaker 1: Some bizarre law.
• 20:56
Speaker 1: There are a lot of cars out there.
• 20:57
Speaker 1: No, there's a few left, but remember, it ends at noon today, right?
• 21:02
Speaker 1: I thought that this was a fascinating story.
• 21:04
Speaker 1: I need to find a clock.
• 21:06
Speaker 1: Do you have a clock?
• 21:07
Speaker 1: What does your watch say?
• 21:10
Speaker 4: It says get a watch.
• 21:11
Speaker 4: It says, yeah, get a watch, nine minutes.
• 21:13
Speaker 4: I want you to listen to this story.
• 21:15
Speaker 1: A Wisconsin dealership is suing two transport companies for an accident that damaged four vehicles.
• 21:22
Speaker 1: It had just purchased at auction.
• 21:30
Speaker 1: The vehicles from Mannheim Detroit in Carlton, michigan and retained a Tennessee company, wholesale Transportation, to truck them to its stores.
• 21:40
Speaker 1: According to the federal suit, the vehicles were delivered into the exclusive care, possession and control of Wholesale Transportation in good order and condition.
• 21:50
Speaker 1: The complaint said it identified them as a 2021 Ford Explorer, 21 Chevy Colorado and a 21 GMC Sierra and a 21 Ford Bronco Sport.
• 22:00
Speaker 1: However, the suit filed December 16th claims wholesale transport arranged for another company, eternal Blue Sky Corporation of Indiana to handle the job unbeknownst to and without the approval of Konecki.
• 22:17
Speaker 1: The vehicles were severely damaged in an August 14th accident.
• 22:21
Speaker 1: The complaint does not identify the location of the accident or describe its circumstances or cause.
• 22:27
Speaker 1: It also does not say whether the truck carrier carried other vehicles as well.
• 22:32
Speaker 1: The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website does not show any reported accidents involving Eternal Blue Sky in the past two years.
• 22:40
Speaker 1: Konecki Ford is seeking compensation for the damage, transportation costs, towing and storage expenses, along with lost profits and floor plan interest for breach of contract, in violation of the CARMAC Act that holds interstate carriers liable for loss or damage of cargo.
• 23:01
Speaker 1: A person answering the phone at Wholesale Transportation said the company had no comment.
• 23:07
Speaker 1: Eternal Blue Sky representatives did not respond to a voicemail request and a lawyer for the dealership did not answer questions from Automotive News.
• 23:15
Speaker 1: Is it a real story?
• 23:17
  Speaker 1: I don't know.
• 23:18
Speaker 1: That's the question, because in my journalism world, if you cannot substantiate, verify the source, then yeah.
• 23:29
Speaker 1: So why would you print that?
• 23:31
Speaker 1: Did it really happen?
• 23:32
Speaker 4: Well, because we don't know, it's a slow news day and they need something on there.
• 23:35
Speaker 1: Exactly Somebody wanted to sue somebody.
• 23:37
Speaker 4: So there you go.
• 23:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, prominent Italian automotive design and engineering company is planting a flag in suburban Detroit where it plans to invest $20 million for its US headquarters.
• 23:47
Speaker 1: Etal Design will create 24 jobs in its new office in Bloomfield Township.
• 23:53
Speaker 1: The jobs are in engineering, sales and marketing and they're going after Etal Design stuff in the Detroit 3.
• 24:03
Speaker 1: Wow, yeehaw, it's going to give it a little flair, a little oomph, and God knows that they need some, although I will say that your Buick looks pretty good.
• 24:10
  Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you.
• 24:13
Speaker 1: Here's another court story that I find these interesting because generally you never hear about them.
• 24:19
Speaker 1: It's all kind of like under-the-table stuff.
• 24:21
Speaker 1: Tesla directors, including chair Robin Denholm and james murdoch, got court approved on wednesday for a settlement worth up to 919 million dollars.
• 24:33
Speaker 1: Wow, that requires they return compensation to the car maker to resolve allegations they overpaid themselves.
• 24:42
Speaker 1: Imagine that the settlement required tes board members, including Denholm and Murdoch, to return roughly $277 million in cash, $459 million in stock options and to forego stock options for 21 through 23 worth $184 million.
• 25:00
Speaker 1: Settlement was not covered by insurance, according to a court filing by the shareholder who brought the case.
• 25:07
Speaker 4: You know Kathy does payroll.
• 25:07
Speaker 4: Maybe she can help figure that out for them why you got paid twice and more.
• 25:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, she could do that Just put the comma in the wrong place.
• 25:14
Speaker 3: Is that what it is?
• 25:15
Speaker 3: Simple mistake Fat finger the comma in the wrong place.
• 25:18
Speaker 1: I'm sorry, did I do that?
• 25:20
  Speaker 1: Wow, did.
• 25:21
  Speaker 1: I knew that.
• 25:22
Speaker 1: I think that that was.
• 25:24
Speaker 1: What was that boy's name?
• 25:26
Speaker 4: I mean, when you think about that, how many people it took to actually have that happen.
• 25:32
Speaker 4: I mean, somebody had to make the decision to do it, somebody had to send the word down to accounting.
• 25:37
Speaker 1: Somebody had to do all the paperwork and somebody had to cut the checks Exactly and somebody goes wait a minute, $919 million and nobody thinks anything about it.
• 25:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, oh well let's just write a check.
• 25:48
Speaker 4: You need to see who all got it cut.
• 25:50
Speaker 4: Kathy could figure it out.
• 25:51
Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, Can you?
• 25:52
Speaker 1: imagine See, those are the stories that we never hear about.
• 25:55
  Speaker 1: No, no, no.
• 25:56
Speaker 1: But the board goes uh-uh, You're not going to get all that money.
• 26:00
Speaker 1: We need some of that money.
• 26:01
Speaker 4: How did the board find out about it?
• 26:03
Speaker 1: Because somebody didn't get their cut.
• 26:05
Speaker 1: That's it, probably so, alright?
• 26:08
Speaker 1: Well, it's time now to take another break here on the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show.

• 29:02
Speaker 1: I don't want my hand across it, but there was a lot of debris and still is in the paint.
• 29:07
