  Earlier today I was invited to go into Proverbs Guys room by

  Adam Lore, who was a former atheist, or at least called

  himself that, and apparently he has.

  Come to the conclusion that there is a God.

  For over a decade I've had conversations with them and I've
• 1:56
  always liked him, whether he believed in God or not.

  I liked his personality, I liked his attitude.

  Unfortunately for Adam, like many atheists out there, I think
• 2:07
  that he picked the wrong label for himself.

  I think that when a lot of people come to social media.
• 2:12
  They think that they have to be on a side or they have to wear a
• 2:16
  certain label in order to describe themselves.

  But unfortunately, with every label that you choose, it comes
• 2:23
  with some kind of burden to it for atheist as well as religious
• 2:27
  people. Some people believe that in
• 2:30
  order to be a Christian, you have to believe that the earth
• 2:32
  is a certain age. In order to be a Christian, you
• 2:36
  have to completely believe 100% everything that the Bible says
• 2:40
  as if it's a reality. Including the allegory stuff.
• 2:44
  That's right. There's some religious people
• 2:46
  that don't realize that some of the things that are in the Bible
• 2:49
  that are talked about are allegory.
• 2:52
  They're not meant to be reality. They're meant to be a metaphor
• 2:56
  or a story that's being told in order to give a moral lesson or
• 3:01
  an idea on how we should live our lives.

  Jesus Christ. One of the big names he was
• 3:06
  given was teacher. And he used a lot of allegory in
• 3:10
  order to explain to us what it is that he was trying to get
• 3:14
  through on how we should do our life and all that.

  Stories like The Prodigal Son and so on, which by the way, was
• 3:21
  mentioned in there. A lot of people think that if
• 3:25
  you're going to call yourself a Christian.

  I remember one of the most difficult things for me when
• 3:30
  becoming a theist was can I live up to the name?
• 3:34
  Can I even be Christ? Like, can I even claim to be on
• 3:37
  that? Because you got a community of
• 3:40
  Christians out there who say that Jesus is God, and some
• 3:44
  people say he's a son of God and has a very close knit
• 3:48
  relationship with God. And some people tell you that if
• 3:53
  you don't believe this way, then you can't be considered a decent
• 3:57
  Christian. And there's a lot of unnecessary
• 3:59
  burden to it. There's nowhere in the Bible
• 4:02
  where Jesus Christ tells us that we have to believe that the age
• 4:06
  of the earth is this of the age of the universe, or that we have
• 4:10
  to go along with some kind of scientific concept that conforms
• 4:14
  to the Bible. None of that.
• 4:17
  Jesus never claimed that the Bible was some kind of science
• 4:21
  book. He just gave us allegory and
• 4:24
  ideas and gave us what he felt that he could we could
• 4:28
  understand. It's kind of like an adult.
• 4:30
  You don't want to hand over the, you know, the nuke code to a
• 4:35
  bunch of babies, immature and experience that don't know what
• 4:38
  you're doing or they'll end up blowing everything up.
• 4:41
  That's the concern. Well, atheist on the other hand,
• 4:44
  they also have a burden too. Nowadays, if a person thinks
• 4:49
  that they're. Faith is lost.
• 4:51
  Or they are former Christian coming into atheism.
• 4:54
  Some people think that you have to be intelligent, that you have
• 4:58
  to be well renowned when it comes to the understanding of
• 5:02
  science. Some people believe that you
• 5:04
  have to act a certain way or have certain behaviors.
• 5:08
  Some people believe that you have to be rude to other people
• 5:11
  who have different views and ideas and yourself.
• 5:15
  Well, I'm here to tell you that you don't have to have any of
• 5:17
  that. If you believe in God and you're
• 5:21
  trying to do the best you can in your life, then that's all it
• 5:25
  takes. God already knows what it is
• 5:28
  that you believe in. Think, and as far as atheism
• 5:31
  goes, you should just be yourself.
• 5:34
  You should say Look, it's possible there's a God out
• 5:37
  there. I'm not sure.
• 5:40
  But you shouldn't view Christians or Muslims or people
• 5:44
  of different faiths as absolute garbage or trash or stupid in
• 5:49
  some kind of way. There's no reason for that.
• 5:52
  In fact, some of you out there, you have wonderful family
• 5:56
  members who might be non believer or might be religious.
• 6:01
  And if you come out on social media and you do like some of
• 6:04
  these big mouths do on the Internet, you're going to.
• 6:09
  Make yourself appear inclusive. You're going to make yourself
• 6:13
  intimidating or annoying or bothersome for other people.
• 6:19
  Is that really what you want to do?
• 6:20
  If you want to be a Christian or be an atheist, do you really
• 6:24
  want to be the reason or to blame for hopelessness in
• 6:29
  someone's life? Do you really want to be the
• 6:32
  person that makes other people feel like crap?
• 6:35
  Because you might be right about something and they might not be.
• 6:40
  I think the best type of behavior we should be is that we
• 6:44
  should realize that we're all in the same boat and we are
• 6:48
  literally on the same planet, floating a million mph through
• 6:52
  space, dodging asteroids and meteorites like a damn Atari
• 6:56
  game. We're lucky to be here.
• 6:59
  And instead of fighting with each other, we should look at
• 7:02
  the true enemy, which is time. We should look at the true
• 7:06
  problem that we're dealing with in our society and try to work
• 7:10
  with each other as opposed to say, oh this person's this
• 7:14
  political way, this person's this religious way, this
• 7:18
  person's non belief that way. A lot of people, they don't
• 7:23
  think they have any options. They think why can't be a
• 7:26
  Christian because I don't believe this is that all Jesus
• 7:32
  requires for you to do is the believe in him.
• 7:35
  Believe that he did the miracles, believe that he
• 7:37
  resurrected to believe that he died for your sins.
• 7:41
  These are the things that you're asked to do.
• 7:43
  These are the tenants. And it is assumed that if you
• 7:46
  believe in God, then good behavior will come along with
• 7:50
  it. You're not expected to be
• 7:52
  perfect. You're not expected to be
• 7:55
  perfectly on cue. You can try, as you might, to be
• 8:00
  Christ like, but the truth is, is that no matter how much good
• 8:04
  you do, no matter how much love you show, the fact is you'll
• 8:08
  never be like Jesus Christ. You're not going to walk on
• 8:11
  water, You're not going to cross the serpent's head.
• 8:15
  You're not going to hang on the cross for the sins of mankind.
• 8:20
  And you're not always going to have the right thing to say like
• 8:23
  Jesus dead, but you can try to do good and that's all God
• 8:29
  expects from you. And as far as being a skeptic or
• 8:32
  an atheist, well, atheism unfortunately has become more
• 8:37
  than just lack of belief and deities.
• 8:39
  The truth is, is that whenever people look at atheists nowadays
• 8:43
  because atheists have had such a terrible history throughout
• 8:47
  humanity. Because of all the dictatorship,
• 8:50
  Because of all the mouthy people out there who act narcissistic,
• 8:56
  calling people names, treating people like crap, trying to
• 9:00
  embarrass people in debates and discussions, religious people
• 9:03
  have been forced to the idea that if you're a nonbeliever,
• 9:07
  then most likely you're evil, you're going to do something,
• 9:10
  mean you're going to do something terrible, that you're
• 9:13
  going to make them feel uncomfortable if they try
• 9:15
  talking to you. It's already hard enough to make
• 9:18
  real friends in this world. It's so hard to just be able to
• 9:23
  connect with another human being, even when they're
• 9:26
  supposedly believing some of the same things as you are.
• 9:30
  Agree with you and a lot of stuff.
• 9:32
  It's already so difficult. And if we keep pushing each
• 9:36
  other, we're only hurting ourselves.
• 9:40
  We could benefit from having a friend who doesn't always agree
• 9:44
  with everything that we say. We can benefit from having
• 9:49
  people around that may question things, but in a respectful,
• 9:53
  decent way. In fact, if somebody comes along
• 9:56
  and they question things and they bring things up that you
• 9:59
  might have thought about, maybe both of you can find a solution
• 10:02
  together. Maybe you both can find God
• 10:06
  together. Maybe that's the answer that
• 10:09
  you've always been looking for. Atheism describes something that
• 10:15
  people lack, what they don't have in their life.

  When you say you're an atheist, the classic definition is you
• 10:22
  lack a belief in deities. OK, fine, but that doesn't
• 10:27
  really tell us anything about who you are as a person.
• 10:30
  Are you someone who cares about justice?
• 10:33
  Are you someone who cares about truth?
• 10:37
  Are you someone who's just looking for attention and who
• 10:40
  enjoys or gets off for making other people feel like shit?
• 10:45
  What is it for you? Do you want to know the truth?

  Do you believe that if there was a God, the universe would be
• 10:52
  better with God in it, where he's helping lead you through
• 10:56
  your life to good things? Or sometimes God allows us to
• 11:01
  experience bad things in order for us to learn from them?
• 11:06
  Jesus, As a teacher, I feel so sorry for a lot of nonbelievers
• 11:17
  out there. I feel sorry for you because I
• 11:20
  remember whenever I thought that I had to be an atheist, whenever
• 11:24
  I lost faith in God, I felt like it was the only option I had.
• 11:29
  But I didn't sign up for some to be a part of some kind of group.
• 11:33
  That was going to try to embarrass people or hurt people.
• 11:38
  I didn't sign up to be mouthy and tell people that they're
• 11:42
  stupid for what they think. In fact, I've always wanted to
• 11:51
  be able to get along with people.
• 11:52
  I wanted to make as many real good friends as I possibly
• 11:57
  could, and unfortunately, a lot of these labels have put some
• 12:01
  obstacles in front of me. So I suggested the people like
• 12:06
  Adam Lower. I said instead of calling

  yourself an atheist, since you're a person who is always
• 12:12
  looking for answers in the universe and always looking for
• 12:16
  answers whenever it comes to people having a soul and love
• 12:20
  and the value of life, why don't you call yourself what you truly
• 12:25
  are? And that's a truth seeker.

  See, a truth seeker could be a Christian or an atheist.

  It's a person who. Is looking for answers.
• 12:34
  Who wants to understand the world?
• 12:36
  Who seeks justice? Who seeks what is right?

  A person who calls himself an atheist That tells us what you
• 12:45
  don't have. It tells us about your absence
• 12:48
  from humanity and what millions and millions of people believe
• 12:55
  you by label. Disassociate yourself with tons
• 12:59
  of other people. You put yourself basically in
• 13:03
  the firing range and of course, sad.

  Sad to say, a lot of people get an idea that the same thing
• 13:12
  happened to Christianity. Idiots like Reverend Phelps and
• 13:16
  the God Hates You organization. Their little bitty tiny church
• 13:20
  was looking for attention and they did the whole I hate this,
• 13:23
  I hate that nonsense. And suddenly all Christians seem
• 13:29
  to be signed up for that. Everybody said now that's what
• 13:33
  Christians are about and they're bad because of it.
• 13:36
  Stalin did a bunch of crap, Adolf Hitler did a bunch of
• 13:39
  crap, and now atheists are looked at like that.

  If you're going to keep the label, then you're going to find
• 13:46
  yourself constantly and consistently having to explain
• 13:51
  yourself why it is that you're a part of this muddy, messy,
• 13:56
  burdensome community or history. When you claim to be a
• 14:02
  Christian, unfortunately everything that has happened for
• 14:06
  the past couple thousand years, between Christians and groups
• 14:11
  and all that, that's always going to get brought up with
• 14:14
  people for some reason. That's important.

  Well, the same thing can be said about atheist, so it's best just
• 14:22
  to say you're seeking you're looking for answers.

  You just want to know if God is real or not.

  You have questions. And you know what, ladies and
• 14:31
  gentlemen? It's perfectly natural to have
• 14:34
  doubts. It's perfectly natural to have
• 14:37
  questions. Just remember, you don't have to
• 14:41
  sign up to any of these clubs. You don't have to wear a label.

  You don't have to call yourself Christian in order to believe in
• 14:51
  Jesus. That's not a part of the tenant.

  I mean, it makes sense, the definition of it, sure, but a

  lot of people got a lot of weird ideas.

  It's the same with the Muslims. A lot of Muslims believe that
• 15:06
  their religion is about teaching peace and respect and love
• 15:09
  towards others. Then a bunch of friends, group
• 15:12
  of Muslims decide to do a bunch of terrible things.

  And now the only thing that most people imagine when around
• 15:19
  Muslims is they're uncomfortable.
• 15:21
  They're afraid for their lives, they're afraid of what these
• 15:25
  people might do to them. You see what I mean?

  So it's best whenever if you're a young person and you're trying
• 15:34
  to figure out your place in the world, don't be so quick to jump
• 15:38
  into something like that. Don't be so quick to say, yeah,
• 15:43
  Islam makes sense, I'm a Muslim, Christianity makes sense.
• 15:46
  I'm going to call myself a Christian.
• 15:49
  Atheism makes sense to me. And I don't believe in any of
• 15:52
  this stuff. So I'm going to go ahead and
• 15:54
  jump into that group. Every one of you out there is
• 15:58
  unique in some way. Every one of you has your own
• 16:02
  level of where you're at and things.

  Not all of you are completely disposed to the idea that there
• 16:08
  isn't no God, and not all of you are disposed to the idea that
• 16:12
  God is just the answer for you. But if you jump into a group,
• 16:17
  you jump into a club, then you're going to have the weight
• 16:20
  of the world on your ass along with your confusion or wherever
• 16:25
  you're at in life. I know a lot of young people.

  You'd like to believe that you got everything figured out.
• 16:36
  I know that I know a lot of young people.
• 16:39
  When the hormones are running than the testosterone.

  You just think you got the world all figured out, You got it by
• 16:45
  the nuts. But I'm going to tell you

  something about this planet every day that you live as you
• 16:51
  get older and you see more stuff.

  There's two things that are going to happen to you.

  Some of it's going to make sense and some of it's just going to
• 17:00
  be like, what in the hell? I just don't get it.

  Especially for people who have had very unusual experiences.

  We also shouldn't be so quick. Whenever we're talking to

  people, when they tell us about their strange experiences, we
• 17:16
  shouldn't just automatically assume they're not so they're
• 17:18
  crazy. Are there woo woo, you know,
• 17:21
  cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, all that.
• 17:23
  We should try to be open minded, try to hear people out.

  You know, a long time ago when people were inventing a lot of
• 17:32
  really neat things when they were talking about it, they're
• 17:35
  talking about their ideas of what they wanted to do.

  People thought they were nuts, people thought they were crazy.

  And nowadays things like what people talked about 100 years
• 17:45
  ago seemed very common and very normal. 100 years ago, a lot of
• 17:49
  the things that we do today would be considered miraculous.

  I just hate to see it. When I hung out with my friend

  Adam, who would label himself an atheist, I'd always known that
• 18:06
  he was different. I always knew that, known that
• 18:10
  he was a good person with a good heart, that I had a lot of ideas
• 18:16
  that were very theistic. He questioned as much as the
• 18:20
  most hardcore atheist, but he did it in a respectful manner,
• 18:25
  and it's probably because he's been such a good guy.

  It's easy for him to get along with religious people and
• 18:31
  nonbelievers, but for whatever reason, at some point in time it
• 18:37
  wasn't enough for him to just be a good guy, a good guy who was
• 18:41
  seeking the truth for himself. People had to push him, and they
• 18:45
  had to pressure him, and they had to.
• 18:47
  Force their crap on to him. But why?
• 18:51
  Why did that need to happen? It didn't.

  I don't know if anybody's going to listen or take my advice or

  suggestions. My entire hope whenever I make

  this video is that people, whenever they're Christians, you

  don't live with a bunch of guilt inside your life and regrets.

  I wish you would have done this or that and just realize that

  God loves you for who you are. God's not loving you for
• 19:24
  something that He expects you to be.

  He actually loves you for who you are.

  You can't have, you can't call it love if you're going to claim

  that someone is loving you for the potential of what you might
• 19:36
  become. I guess in the case of God, he

  can love you for who you are and He can love.

  The fact that he knows that you're going to become better

  than the version of yourself, but that's still a part of you.

  That's still you. But what can you be as an

  atheist? So can you become a better

  atheist? Can you ever be like a superior

  atheist? No.

  They only give you 2 choices in atheism, weak atheism, and

  strong atheism. Weak, meaning that you're not as

  accepting of the tenants as before.

  It's kind of a harsh word, isn't it?

  I don't know. I think we should all just

  strive to do the best we can, put regrets behind us, and

  continue to realize that God is going to love us just for who we

  are. A lot of religious people,

  unfortunately, you feel like there's only two options.

  If you don't exceed a certain tenants and Christianity, then
• 20:50
  you're definitely going to hell. Like that's the only option
• 20:53
  there is. Perhaps the other option is is
• 20:56
  that God understands you, knows your heart, and if you're
• 21:00
  sincere and you're trying, that's enough.

  It's better to try than to not do anything at all.

  It seems like a lot of people get off and hurting each other.

  A lot of people think it's funny.

  A lot of people think it's humorous.

  Some people feel more relevant than important whenever they dig

  a hole for somebody else and push them into it.

  I wish we could learn a way to get out of that though.
