- 0:00Speaker 1: Lately welcome Late Debates.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Well, it's great to have your company on the late Debate.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I'm James Macpherson with Liz Storer and Caleb Bond coming up.
- 0:12Speaker 2: The US anthem is the star Spangled banner right, Well
- 0:16Speaker 2: at the weekend it was the star strangled banner.
- 0:19Speaker 3: A terrible rendition. We'll show you that a little later.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Plus, when we look at the papers, the Muslim vote
- 0:24Speaker 2: looks to be imploding before it's even begun. And record
- 0:28Speaker 2: numbers of Australians opting for gas connections in their homes
- 0:32Speaker 2: despite all the fuss by climate catastrophists.
- 0:35Speaker 3: We'll get to all that when we look at the papers.
- 0:37Speaker 2: But first, Donald Trump, as if back from the dead,
- 0:40Speaker 2: received a hero's welcome when he arrived at the Republican
- 0:44Speaker 2: National Convention today, just days after surviving an assassination attempt.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Trump entered the auditorium with a massive bandage on his
- 0:52Speaker 2: ear and the sounds of God bless America.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Please welcome the next President of the Unitedsteed, Donald J. Trump.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Things from Who's This Song?
- 1:17Speaker 2: So, Trump and his running mates, who will talk about
- 1:20Speaker 2: in a moment, were formally endorsed as the Republican candidates
- 1:23Speaker 2: and Liz. Elon Musk pledged sixty six million dollars a
- 1:27Speaker 2: month in funding for the Trump campaign.
- 1:30Speaker 3: It was a pretty good day for me.
- 1:31Speaker 4: I can't lose with Elon Musk on your side.
- 1:34Speaker 5: I mean to be honest, Watching the bits that I
- 1:37Speaker 5: did of the RNC, I was a little bit surprised.
- 1:41Speaker 5: Everyone knows that I loved Trump, but this is not
- 1:44Speaker 5: what I was expecting from the RNC.
- 1:47Speaker 4: First you've got.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Amber Rose, who's a former stripper some would say porn star,
- 1:53Speaker 5: getting up and endorsing Trump. Then you've got an immigrant
- 1:57Speaker 5: from Nico Wagra got up and gave her story after
- 2:01Speaker 5: Obviously she's a legal migrant, but Trump has been promising
- 2:05Speaker 5: these mass deportations like nothing the world's ever seen before,
- 2:09Speaker 5: something his VP seems to have rolled back on already.
- 2:14Speaker 5: But there was also this extremely strange seekh prayer to
- 2:19Speaker 5: an entity called wa Ha Guru.
- 2:24Speaker 6: Tho Takama Bedi Opender Subathias Do Marteptha Hamabarkrikiarmasuka Kan.
- 2:45Speaker 5: This is not what anyone is expecting at a basically
- 2:50Speaker 5: a Trump conference. This is his defining moment. This is
- 2:54Speaker 5: Trump's America on display. It does make me wonder whether
- 2:59Speaker 5: the second Trump administration is going to look different to
- 3:02Speaker 5: the first Trump administration in a.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Way that people do not want or expect.
- 3:07Speaker 5: I feel like they panned it at several points during
- 3:11Speaker 5: this RNC. I don't think it's what the nation needs
- 3:15Speaker 5: or what any true Trumpers would want to see.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I don't know a national convention.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I don't know, so I have nothing better to do, clearly,
- 3:23Speaker 1: and I watched almost all of it this morning, and
- 3:26Speaker 1: after you know, they at first they have all different
- 3:28Speaker 1: governors and whatever get up and say their piece, and
- 3:31Speaker 1: then once Trump came out, most of what you had,
- 3:34Speaker 1: as you alluded to, Liz, was people that you wouldn't
- 3:37Speaker 1: necessarily expect to endorse Trump. But I think that was
- 3:39Speaker 1: a very deliberate move because what they're trying to set up.
- 3:43Speaker 1: We'll get into the talk about his vice presidential pick
- 3:46Speaker 1: Jady Vance in a minute, but what I felt they
- 3:49Speaker 1: were trying to set up today was here was a
- 3:51Speaker 1: bunch of people, and many of them who got up
- 3:53Speaker 1: and spoke after Trump arrived, just out and outset it
- 3:57Speaker 1: that I voted for Biden in twenty twenty, and I'm
- 4:00Speaker 1: going to vote for Trump in twenty twenty four. What
- 4:03Speaker 1: he's setting up is that Biden has been so bad
- 4:06Speaker 1: that you now need to come and vote for me.
- 4:08Speaker 1: He had a unionist to get up and speak. I mean,
- 4:10Speaker 1: he wouldn't expect a unionist to go and speak to
- 4:12Speaker 1: the RNC. But again, it's all about saying that we
- 4:16Speaker 1: are now the party of the average person. Forget about
- 4:19Speaker 1: the Democrats. They're not worried about the workers, they're not
- 4:21Speaker 1: worried about the legal migrants. They're stuffing you over with
- 4:24Speaker 1: all the illegal migrants. We're the party that is going
- 4:27Speaker 1: to stand up for the average person. So what you
- 4:30Speaker 1: saw was a series of people who really in the
- 4:33Speaker 1: past wouldn't have been there, but now are the people
- 4:36Speaker 1: that the Republican Party is courting, average Americans who otherwise
- 4:40Speaker 1: would have voted for the Democrats.
- 4:42Speaker 5: I on side of it, but that's what I mean.
- 4:45Speaker 5: You're a shilling for votes. You're it is a pr stunt,
- 4:48Speaker 5: of course it is. This is not very American, true
- 4:51Speaker 5: Trumpers or people who fly the American five being like
- 4:55Speaker 5: I'm a drump But this is not what I don't
- 4:57Speaker 5: think they would have appreciated whatsoever.
- 5:00Speaker 4: They're not going to change their vote.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Well precisely, and you're not going to win that. On
- 5:04Speaker 1: the back of it, I.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Found it disappointing.
- 5:06Speaker 5: You could have found other individuals who were just as
- 5:10Speaker 5: happy to say I was voting for Biden. Now I'm
- 5:12Speaker 5: on the Trump train and I'm not getting off without
- 5:17Speaker 5: that much virtue signaling.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I've got to say, with all the virtue signaling, I mean,
- 5:20Speaker 2: you had strippers, you had unionists, you had was that
- 5:23Speaker 2: a Buddhist or a Hindu lady doing the stamp? It
- 5:26Speaker 2: was a Lutheran church minister who actually stole the show.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Pastor James Ronkey have listened to this. This is just
- 5:33Speaker 2: before he prayed for Donald Trump.
- 5:35Speaker 7: And if I may before the benediction, give you this promise,
- 5:40Speaker 7: You're going to be.
- 5:41Speaker 8: So blessed.
- 5:45Speaker 9: You're going to be tired of being blessed.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I guarantee.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It's the thing I like about that, right is Trump
- 5:59Speaker 2: is in so many different ways, and usually badly. But
- 6:03Speaker 2: the church minister gets up and he's taking the piss
- 6:06Speaker 2: out of Donald Trump. And Trump, for the whole of
- 6:10Speaker 2: what I saw of the convention, actually looked quite stunned
- 6:13Speaker 2: by the reception he received. And if it's possible for
- 6:16Speaker 2: Donald Trump to look humbled. He actually looked humbled in parts.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, he actually looked quite emotional in parts. It as well,
- 6:23Speaker 1: you would be. He got shot at the other day, right,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and then he's rocked up to the rock star welcome.
- 6:28Speaker 1: And I mean I say rock star welcome. The thing
- 6:30Speaker 1: was like a rock concertate points. I mean you heard
- 6:32Speaker 1: the band playing as he came out, and that's what
- 6:35Speaker 1: they kept doing. Between every single one of these speeches.
- 6:37Speaker 1: The band would fire up. And if you'd watch the
- 6:40Speaker 1: footage on Sky today, like they're all up in the
- 6:43Speaker 1: audience dancing pretty badly. It has to be said, some
- 6:46Speaker 1: of the dancing was, but it was just it was
- 6:49Speaker 1: so American, right. You watch something like that and you're like,
- 6:52Speaker 1: you go to a campaign launch for the Liberal Party
- 6:54Speaker 1: or the Labor Party and it's all these sort of
- 6:56Speaker 1: boring people shuffling in to hear the leader talk to them.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Don't do things like that in America. And of course
- 7:02Speaker 1: Donald Trump didn't speak today. He will speak later in
- 7:06Speaker 1: the conference, but I kind of wish he had spoken today.
- 7:10Speaker 1: If he did speak today, it might have gone something
- 7:14Speaker 1: like this.
- 7:16Speaker 9: You can take my ears, but you cannot take my liberty.
- 7:20Speaker 9: They want to cut off my ears like the Taliban.
- 7:22Speaker 9: But what they don't know is my ears can grow
- 7:24Speaker 9: back like SpongeBob through budding. By the way, hit me
- 7:28Speaker 9: with your best shot, why don't you, Because if that's
- 7:31Speaker 9: the best you got, you're a loser.
- 7:33Speaker 3: You're such a loser.
- 7:34Speaker 9: You missed so bigly. By the way, you had a
- 7:37Speaker 9: big opportunity.
- 7:37Speaker 4: You could have made my head blow up on TV.
- 7:40Speaker 4: But you didn't do that, did you.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Now my ear is going to grow back bigger and better.
- 7:45Speaker 7: It will have better hearing.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I will hear like an owl.
- 7:51Speaker 4: How good is that?
- 7:53Speaker 1: While we're talking about is EA being shot off? I mean,
- 7:55Speaker 1: we haven't actually seen what his e looks like without
- 7:58Speaker 1: that ridiculously large band dijo on it yet, but I'm
- 8:01Speaker 1: sure that we might see that later in the conference,
- 8:03Speaker 1: if not a little bit after. But the shooting has
- 8:06Speaker 1: now turned into such a big cash cow for all
- 8:09Speaker 1: these people online selling T shirts and caps and all
- 8:12Speaker 1: this sort of stuff. If you go on Amazon or
- 8:14Speaker 1: any of the big websites now where you buy this
- 8:17Speaker 1: sort of stuff, Trump merchandise based on the attempted assassination
- 8:21Speaker 1: is now the number one thing. You go on Amazon
- 8:24Speaker 1: and look at themed t shirts and all the number
- 8:26Speaker 1: one sellers at the moment of stuff like you can
- 8:28Speaker 1: see there with Trump with his fist in the air
- 8:31Speaker 1: and all this stuff based on assassination.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Get mugs.
- 8:34Speaker 2: You can get dog Cardiansardigan, so your dog can have
- 8:38Speaker 2: the Trump stuff. It's interesting there's a debate online between
- 8:42Speaker 2: media photographers trying to work out you know, it's an
- 8:44Speaker 2: iconic image, but now it's being used for Trump propaganda.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Strict use of the image because.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Now and they're making millions of it, the amount of
- 8:55Speaker 5: outlets doing this now because of course they don't care.
- 8:57Speaker 4: There's money's be.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Made whether they're buying voters or not. Whack those T
- 9:02Speaker 5: shirts online. Long lived capitalism. But before we move on
- 9:06Speaker 5: from the RNC, check out Donald Trump Junior stop to
- 9:11Speaker 5: talk to an MSNBC host.
- 9:13Speaker 4: And that was very gracious of him. But it wasn't
- 9:17Speaker 4: a two way straight was it. So it ended with
- 9:19Speaker 4: him biting back.
- 9:22Speaker 10: What is that change going to look like? Don what
- 9:24Speaker 10: practically your father as president? I think you would even
- 9:27Speaker 10: say it was a divisive figure. What's it going to
- 9:28Speaker 10: look like in the second term. I don't think he
- 9:30Speaker 10: was a divisive figure at all. I think the media
- 9:32Speaker 10: created divisiveness around him. They lied about Russia Russia collusion,
- 9:35Speaker 10: they said he was a trader. They went after him
- 9:38Speaker 10: in every which ways possible. If the media actually starts
- 9:41Speaker 10: being an honest broker talking about the things that he did,
- 9:43Speaker 10: the prosperity he brought, the peace deals that he signed
- 9:46Speaker 10: around the world rather than the disaster that we're living
- 9:48Speaker 10: right now, I think you do everyone in the country
- 9:50Speaker 10: a big favor.
- 9:52Speaker 5: And that actually ended with him just being like, Okay,
- 9:54Speaker 5: stop now, like I'm leaving and walking off because the
- 9:58Speaker 5: MSNBC really want to to push the fact that no,
- 10:01Speaker 5: Trump was the divisive figure and we can't quite move
- 10:04Speaker 5: on from that, ken we but we.
- 10:06Speaker 4: All know today.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Also at the conference, Trump finally announced his pick for VP,
- 10:13Speaker 5: and that is j. D.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Vance. He's a senator from Ohio, a former Marine man.
- 10:20Speaker 5: He is a Yale grad attorney, much like Vivek Ramaswami.
- 10:25Speaker 4: And the funny thing about this pick for me is
- 10:28Speaker 4: that this guy back.
- 10:30Speaker 5: In twenty sixteen said that he was a never Trumper.
- 10:33Speaker 5: He said that Trump was a racist, He called Trump dangerous.
- 10:37Speaker 5: He even went so far as to say that Trump
- 10:40Speaker 5: was unfit for office. Check out this little grab of
- 10:45Speaker 5: just how much he's changed his tune over the years.
- 10:49Speaker 11: As somebody who doesn't like Trump myself, the elites will
- 10:52Speaker 11: right about Donald Trump.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Right. I'm a never Trump guy. I never liked him.
- 10:56Speaker 11: He's the best president of my lifetime, and he revealed
- 10:59Speaker 11: it in this country.
- 11:01Speaker 12: Like nobody else.
- 11:02Speaker 11: I can't stomach Trump. I think that he's noxious and
- 11:06Speaker 11: is leading the white working class to a very dark place.
- 11:09Speaker 3: I think that he was a good president. I think
- 11:11Speaker 3: he made a lot of good decisions for people.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I think you're not a Trump supporter from what I've read,
- 11:15Speaker 4: Am I right? Is that a fair assessment?
- 11:17Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 11:17Speaker 12: I didn't vote for Trump all around.
- 11:19Speaker 3: He was a great president. I'm thirty seven years old.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Certainly the best president of my lifetime.
- 11:24Speaker 11: I don't hide from that. I was certainly skeptical of
- 11:26Speaker 11: Donald Trump in twenty sixteen. But President Trump was a
- 11:29Speaker 11: great president, and he changed my mind. I think he
- 11:31Speaker 11: changed the minds of a lot of Americans because again,
- 11:34Speaker 11: he delivered that peace and prosperity. If you go back
- 11:37Speaker 11: to what I thought in twenty sixteen, another thing that
- 11:39Speaker 11: was going on Sean is I bought into the media's
- 11:42Speaker 11: lies and distortions I bought into this idea that somehow
- 11:45Speaker 11: he was going to be so different, a terrible threat
- 11:48Speaker 11: to democracy.
- 11:49Speaker 4: It was a joke. Skeptical. You're a bit more than skeptical, buddy.
- 11:55Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 11:55Speaker 5: It is just too much for me to believe that
- 11:58Speaker 5: suddenly this guy's a strong concernservative conservative, populist nationalist when
- 12:04Speaker 5: he was a massive Obama fan as well.
- 12:06Speaker 4: On the record, this guy loved Obama.
- 12:10Speaker 5: I know that we can all change, but especially at
- 12:13Speaker 5: a time where Trump's being shot in the head, He's
- 12:17Speaker 5: being coude left right and center, indicted, impeached.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Buried in law fair.
- 12:22Speaker 5: Why would you choose someone that you know hasn't always
- 12:26Speaker 5: been loyal?
- 12:27Speaker 4: And in fact jd. Vance only changed his tune.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Obviously twenty sixteen, he didn't vote for Trump.
- 12:33Speaker 4: He voted for CIA agent Evan McMullen. And this guy, JD.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Vance was only seated in the Senate after a CIA
- 12:44Speaker 5: contractor by the name of Peter Thiel stumped up ten
- 12:47Speaker 5: million dollars, at which point Trump endorsed him. They both
- 12:51Speaker 5: kind of just agreed to talk about that, not to
- 12:54Speaker 5: talk about the fact that Vance had been very, very
- 12:57Speaker 5: anti Trump in the past. And that's when he was
- 13:00Speaker 5: seated in the Senate.
- 13:01Speaker 4: I don't know this guy. I don't trust him yet.
- 13:04Speaker 4: I just think it's a surprise pick from Trump.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I think the thing you're missing is is he's only
- 13:08Speaker 2: thirty nine now, right, so prior to twenty sixteen, he
- 13:11Speaker 2: just turned thirty.
- 13:12Speaker 3: It just goes to prove thirty year olds really have
- 13:14Speaker 3: a lot of learning to do.
- 13:15Speaker 5: Kayleb, don't you twenty five year old Caleb?
- 13:18Speaker 3: He'd be hard pressed.
- 13:19Speaker 1: He thanks for setting me up with that one. You
- 13:21Speaker 1: old fast.
- 13:22Speaker 2: He'd be hard pressed to find a Republican who back
- 13:25Speaker 2: prior to Trump's first term didn't have major concerns about him.
- 13:29Speaker 3: That was not true.
- 13:30Speaker 4: He was very popular, can.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Now on board? He were saying all sorts of yea,
- 13:37Speaker 3: And there.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Were a lot of very young the Trumpers. This wasn't well.
- 13:42Speaker 5: He was young at the time, which, by the way,
- 13:45Speaker 5: anything under thirty that isn't exactly young.
- 13:48Speaker 3: But he was from which vantage point you look, No,
- 13:51Speaker 3: not when you're.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Talking about a marine, a Yale grad.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I mean this guy, he's a New York Times bestseller.
- 13:57Speaker 5: Exactly, So we're not talking about a kid here.
- 14:00Speaker 4: He's obviously at.
- 14:02Speaker 2: His Trump is demonstrating you can change your mind about him.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Trump is also demonstrating he's secure enough to have a
- 14:10Speaker 2: VP who once said some very nasty things about him,
- 14:13Speaker 2: but Trump doesn't hold it against him. This place to
- 14:15Speaker 2: the new narrative of Trump, I want to bring people together.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I'm not going to hold grudges. Let's get moving forward.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And Trump is the last man to tolerate disloyalty. Right,
- 14:29Speaker 1: But if he thought that Vance was going to be
- 14:33Speaker 1: a problem, he would not have picked him as VP.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Like we can all see the political ingenuity of Donald Trump.
- 14:40Speaker 1: You saw it when he raised his fist on the weekend.
- 14:43Speaker 1: He is always on and always thinking about the politics
- 14:47Speaker 1: and the optics and what is the right thing to do.
- 14:50Speaker 3: In this moment.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I do not believe for a minute that Donald Trump
- 14:54Speaker 1: would pick JD. Vance as his VP if he genuinely
- 14:57Speaker 1: thought there was going to be any problem in doing so.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And if Jade Vance shows him any kind of disloyalty,
- 15:03Speaker 1: well we know what Donald is going to do to him, right,
- 15:06Speaker 1: We will not hear the end of it. So I
- 15:09Speaker 1: think Vance has genuinely changed his mind. And if I
- 15:12Speaker 1: don't know whether you've read his book, hillbilly ellogy. But
- 15:15Speaker 1: if anyone at home, if you haven't, I highly recommend
- 15:18Speaker 1: you do it. It's an excellent memoir, as he writes it,
- 15:22Speaker 1: growing up in the Appalachian Mountains. But it's almost an
- 15:25Speaker 1: explainer of how Donald Trump happened because it talks about
- 15:29Speaker 1: the rust belt of America and the poverty and the
- 15:33Speaker 1: way that they were left behind by the political elites
- 15:37Speaker 1: of America. And he didn't necessarily mean it to be
- 15:41Speaker 1: a connection to Trump when he wrote it, but it
- 15:43Speaker 1: came out. It came out in twenty sixteen, when, of
- 15:46Speaker 1: course the campaign was well and truly on and then
- 15:49Speaker 1: Trump was eventually elected, and it almost explains why Donald
- 15:55Speaker 1: Trump got elected. So it kind of makes sense that
- 15:57Speaker 1: having gone on that journey and his book coming out
- 16:00Speaker 1: when it didn't be as timely as it was, that
- 16:02Speaker 1: he has gone on that journey as well and said, Look,
- 16:05Speaker 1: the man I thought Donald Trump would be as president
- 16:08Speaker 1: is not the man he was as president. I'm on
- 16:10Speaker 1: board now to the point where Trump is willing to
- 16:13Speaker 1: accept him. I just don't think Trump would be that
- 16:16Speaker 1: stupid to be I think.
- 16:17Speaker 5: A lot more than I like him goes into picking
- 16:21Speaker 5: a VP. There's a lot of politics involved in cutting
- 16:24Speaker 5: it down to the person who will serve your purposes
- 16:27Speaker 5: for other purposes other than that.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Sure like them.
- 16:30Speaker 5: But of course it took no time for the media
- 16:33Speaker 5: to then turn on jd Vance because if Trump's picked.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Him, he too must be very evil. His CNN chiming in.
- 16:43Speaker 13: Jd Vance is an ideological nationalist. That's a much more
- 16:47Speaker 13: dangerous virus because he can make this He can polish
- 16:51Speaker 13: this stuff and make it seempalable to people. He can
- 16:54Speaker 13: sell this stuff to Silicon Valley. He can sell the
- 16:57Speaker 13: stuff by the places, and when it does, it lacks
- 16:59Speaker 13: the report and party on a pathway that I think
- 17:02Speaker 13: is dangerous for the world. Again, the Ukrainians are now
- 17:05Speaker 13: in deep trouble, NATO is now in deep trouble.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Trump is he geta gone.
- 17:09Speaker 13: With Nikki Haley and sle to the world. Hey listen,
- 17:12Speaker 13: I got a gift up to my base, but I'm
- 17:14Speaker 13: not going to abandon the world.
- 17:16Speaker 3: This pic is a horror on the world stage.
- 17:20Speaker 5: He just call him a dangerous virus in two seconds,
- 17:25Speaker 5: all of a sudden. Jade Vans also the biggest threat
- 17:28Speaker 5: to democracy is the biggest threat to the free Well,
- 17:32Speaker 5: it's like it's sol dishable.
- 17:34Speaker 2: You're wondering why Trump picked Jad E. Vans Will Will
- 17:37Speaker 2: He just explained there. His problem with the vice president
- 17:40Speaker 2: pick is that he's going to be able to sell
- 17:42Speaker 2: the Trump agenda so effectively because he's incredibly articulate. The
- 17:46Speaker 2: debate between Kamala Harris Advance.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Oh, that'll never happen, magnficent.
- 17:50Speaker 3: The other happening thing is he is only thirty nine
- 17:53Speaker 3: years old.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Trump, I think recognizes he can't possibly reform everything that
- 17:58Speaker 2: needs reforming in just four years. So he needs someone
- 18:01Speaker 2: who's young enough and ideologically strong enough, articular enough to
- 18:05Speaker 2: carry it on beyond Trump. So it's a great pick.
- 18:08Speaker 2: By the way, just before we move on to other topics,
- 18:11Speaker 2: there is a photograph going around the internet this evening
- 18:15Speaker 2: comparing the vice presidential pick to well, the great Caleb Bond.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Have look at this. This has gone viral online. Caleb.
- 18:23Speaker 3: I think it's a very very strong resemblance. That's there.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I was today accepting the vice presidential nomination from Donald Trump.
- 18:34Speaker 1: But of course, the one thing that he and I
- 18:36Speaker 1: also have in common, and this is a large part
- 18:39Speaker 1: of the reason I think he's been chosen as VP
- 18:43Speaker 1: is that he comes from a working class background. And
- 18:46Speaker 1: of course, the whole Trump campaign back in twenty sixteen
- 18:50Speaker 1: was based very much on that rust belt of America
- 18:54Speaker 1: that had been left behind, and he's picked a vice
- 18:57Speaker 1: presidential candidate who comes from that background. He wants to
- 19:01Speaker 1: bring those people with them, and I think from that
- 19:04Speaker 1: perspective it's a very smart move.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Just one more thing on this.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Remember the first time Trump ran, he had Mike Pence
- 19:09Speaker 2: right correct, who was comparatively.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Boring, but deliberately, deliberately he got the.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Christian vote over because Trump had this pretty bad reputation
- 19:19Speaker 2: in terms of his morals.
- 19:20Speaker 3: But Mike Pence apparently enough.
- 19:22Speaker 5: You agree that he does pick a VP for other
- 19:24Speaker 5: reasons than that I like him. It's like this guy
- 19:27Speaker 5: appeals to a certain amount of people. Trump also knows
- 19:30Speaker 5: the states that he.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Has to get across the line, and he Joe's according
- 19:34Speaker 2: my pen My point being, Pence was a really safe
- 19:36Speaker 2: pick for a deliberate purpose.
- 19:39Speaker 3: This guy is a bit of a left field guy.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Does it demonstrate a how confident Trump is and that
- 19:44Speaker 2: Trump is really going to go in knowing I've got
- 19:46Speaker 2: four years to make a real difference. I want a
- 19:48Speaker 2: VP who's going to be a bulldog and absolutely go.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Hard on me, because you've got someone who was once
- 19:55Speaker 5: downright antie you, who is now a heartbeat or a away.
- 20:01Speaker 4: From the presidency now for your entire four years.
- 20:05Speaker 5: And indeed, from this moment onwards, if something were to
- 20:07Speaker 5: happen to Trump, would he just be the next the
- 20:10Speaker 5: next guy to just be like, oh, well, the VP,
- 20:13Speaker 5: he'll have to do as our candidate.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I don't to me.
- 20:18Speaker 4: He's unproven, That's all I'm saying.
- 20:20Speaker 5: He's unproven and hopefully will not let Trump down in
- 20:23Speaker 5: the coming years.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Well, the attempt to kill Donald Trump that failed and
- 20:26Speaker 2: the attempt to jail him seems to be falling apart
- 20:29Speaker 2: as well, with a US judge ruling that the prosecution
- 20:31Speaker 2: of Trump for maintaining classified documents was unlawful. Have listened
- 20:36Speaker 2: to Fox News breaking the news and explaining the decision.
- 20:41Speaker 12: This is massive news. We did not see this coming
- 20:43Speaker 12: at all. This is a case that she tentatively postponed
- 20:47Speaker 12: to a later date. The original trial was set for
- 20:49Speaker 12: the end of May. She moved it back a couple
- 20:52Speaker 12: of months, though not setting a date. She has just
- 20:54Speaker 12: dismissed it in a ninety three page court document saying
- 20:58Speaker 12: that Jack Smith Special Counsel's appointment via lates the appropriations
- 21:04Speaker 12: clause and the appointments Clause of the United States Constitution.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So this is great news for Trump because he was
- 21:11Speaker 2: going to be wrestling with this court case where they'd
- 21:15Speaker 2: accused him of having a whole lot of documents. Incidentally,
- 21:17Speaker 2: Biden had done the same thing as Vice president.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Yeah, well they decided, well.
- 21:21Speaker 2: We prosecute him because everyone will thinking too old, wary,
- 21:24Speaker 2: old man who doesn't know what he's doing.
- 21:26Speaker 5: FBI did the same for Hillary Clinton when she was
- 21:29Speaker 5: found to have a private server. She was sending classified secret,
- 21:34Speaker 5: even top secret documents via that instead of the State
- 21:38Speaker 5: Department server.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Why would you do that? Why would you do that?
- 21:40Speaker 4: If nothing dodgy is going on?
- 21:44Speaker 5: And the FBI stood there, Comy stood there and said,
- 21:47Speaker 5: no serious prosecutor would bring this case. We recommend that
- 21:51Speaker 5: no charges are laid, and none ever were. So Biden
- 21:54Speaker 5: gets away with it. Hillary Clinton gets away with it.
- 21:57Speaker 5: But Trump's found with a few at Mary Lago, kicking
- 22:00Speaker 5: the doors down, doing an all out raid. I just
- 22:03Speaker 5: think it's marvelous that this has been thrown out and
- 22:06Speaker 5: for no more laughable reason than.
- 22:09Speaker 4: The prosecutor they appointed. It was by federal law.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Democrats were in such a rush to get Trump they
- 22:17Speaker 2: couldn't even get the process right legally to do it.
- 22:20Speaker 3: And this comes on top of the U. S.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Supreme Court ruling that Trump has immunity for decisions he
- 22:25Speaker 2: made in office, which is now affecting all of the
- 22:28Speaker 2: other pending court cases.
- 22:30Speaker 3: So Donald Trump just keeps on winning at them.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Well teflon don and as people have started calling him,
- 22:35Speaker 1: because you know, not even a bullet can stick to
- 22:37Speaker 1: the fellow ut But this will be appealed further up
- 22:41Speaker 1: through the court system. So looking by the time it
- 22:43Speaker 1: remains at that point exactly precisely, and this is this
- 22:46Speaker 1: is the important part of it is that it's out
- 22:48Speaker 1: of the way in terms of the danger it could
- 22:50Speaker 1: cause to the presidential run. And of course we know
- 22:53Speaker 1: with them with the other case recently where they put
- 22:57Speaker 1: it off, the sentencing has been pulled off. So he
- 23:00Speaker 1: is sitting pretty now in terms of anything that could
- 23:03Speaker 1: damage him in the lead up to the election, he said.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Trump said in response to all of this today, as
- 23:08Speaker 1: we move forward in uniting our nation after the horrific
- 23:11Speaker 1: events on Saturday. The dismissal of the lawless indictment in
- 23:14Speaker 1: Florida should be just the first step, followed quickly by
- 23:18Speaker 1: the dismissal of all the witch hunts. And I think
- 23:20Speaker 1: that's the best part of it, right, is that we
- 23:23Speaker 1: know most of it has been garbage. Most of it
- 23:26Speaker 1: has been simply to throw mud at Trump in the
- 23:30Speaker 1: hope that some of it sticks. Now he's got a
- 23:32Speaker 1: very battery body because nothing seems to stick to it.
- 23:35Speaker 1: And every time they have done it, you're laughing at me.
- 23:38Speaker 3: For I'm thinking about Trump's buttery body.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Well, that seems more about you.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Just then on a Tuesday evening calib we don't want to.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we twenty past ten is when you can say
- 23:48Speaker 1: those things on here. But the fact that you thought
- 23:50Speaker 1: about it like that, I think says more about you
- 23:52Speaker 1: than it does about now. Liz is on board with
- 23:55Speaker 1: it as well. God, you two got dirty mud. Get
- 23:58Speaker 1: out of the gun.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Get out of the gun.
- 24:00Speaker 4: That that's where he went.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Good, Yes, he's no, I agree, I agree, I agree. Anyway,
- 24:04Speaker 1: we'll leave that to one side. They've thrown all this
- 24:06Speaker 1: mutter at him, None of it has none of it
- 24:08Speaker 1: has stuck. And in fact, what has happened is that
- 24:10Speaker 1: every time they have done it, it's actually been good
- 24:13Speaker 1: for him because it's it's simply opened people's eyes up
- 24:16Speaker 1: to the fact that they're really coming after him because
- 24:19Speaker 1: they're really worried about him. And then, of course on
- 24:21Speaker 1: the weekend it had a dude try to kill Donald Trump,
- 24:25Speaker 1: and again more people have opened their eyes and gone, well,
- 24:28Speaker 1: if they're not worried about him, then maybe he's not
- 24:31Speaker 1: so bad after all. So all of this has played
- 24:34Speaker 1: right into Trump's hands, and then at the very last
- 24:37Speaker 1: hurdle actually making it happen, all of these cases have
- 24:41Speaker 1: started falling over. It has been the most deliciously inept
- 24:45Speaker 1: attempt at character assassination that I have ever seen. Not
- 24:50Speaker 1: that they knew it would go as badly as it did,
- 24:52Speaker 1: but it's all just imploded so beautifully.
- 24:55Speaker 5: The vindication is literally intoxicating. Speaking of someone who cannot
- 25:00Speaker 5: will not be vindicated, Kim Sheetle, secret Service director who
- 25:06Speaker 5: presided over the absolute joke on an attempted assassination. Everyone's asking,
- 25:12Speaker 5: how on earth could this have happened?
- 25:15Speaker 4: Why weren't there.
- 25:15Speaker 5: More people on the ground, How is it possible that
- 25:18Speaker 5: the snipers, the counter snipers could see this sniper on
- 25:23Speaker 5: the roof. People in the crowd were saying, he's up there,
- 25:26Speaker 5: he's got a rifle.
- 25:27Speaker 4: You can literally watch the footage we've showed it.
- 25:31Speaker 5: To you of people in the crowd filming this guy
- 25:34Speaker 5: bear crawling on the roof with a rifle. A cop
- 25:37Speaker 5: even went up there and was like, mate, what are
- 25:39Speaker 5: you doing up on the roof, at which point the
- 25:41Speaker 5: guy trained the rifle on the cop.
- 25:44Speaker 4: I mean, there could be no more.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Questions asked or answered that could possibly explain the tragic
- 25:51Speaker 5: events that happened at that rally where people lost their
- 25:55Speaker 5: lives because of.
- 25:57Speaker 4: The Secret Services ineptitude. People are calling for Kim Cheatle
- 26:03Speaker 4: to resign.
- 26:04Speaker 5: In fact, I would say it's a miracle she hasn't
- 26:07Speaker 5: resigned already. But lo and behold, it's looking more and
- 26:10Speaker 5: more like she herself.
- 26:12Speaker 4: Was a DEEI hire. Check it out.
- 26:15Speaker 5: She only got the job, apparently because the President, Biden's wife,
- 26:21Speaker 5: Jill Biden, pushed for it. A Democratic insider telling the
- 26:26Speaker 5: Post said Cheetle served on doctor Biden's second Lady detail,
- 26:32Speaker 5: and Anthony pushed for her. Anthony has no national security
- 26:36Speaker 5: or law enforcement experience, he should have no influence over
- 26:41Speaker 5: the selection of the us SS director, and yet.
- 26:46Speaker 4: We all know that she did.
- 26:50Speaker 1: So.
- 26:50Speaker 5: The question remains, now, wouldn't Kim Cheatle have ever got
- 26:53Speaker 5: the job if it weren't for doctor Biden, missus Biden
- 26:58Speaker 5: pushing her in there? And we've all noted that since
- 27:02Speaker 5: that rally in which God saved Trump's life by a
- 27:08Speaker 5: millimeter or less, we've all noticed a slight difference in
- 27:12Speaker 5: his security detail since that day.
- 27:32Speaker 1: All men, By Liz, you're assuming that they are all mean?
- 27:39Speaker 1: How deg you assume the fingers of those individuals. But
- 27:45Speaker 1: it is pretty funny, isn't it. And of course, the
- 27:47Speaker 1: the Anthony that is referred to in those quotes, Anthony Bernal,
- 27:51Speaker 1: who's one of Jill Biden's advisors and supposedly has just
- 27:55Speaker 1: as much, if not more, sway than the president's own
- 27:58Speaker 1: chief of staff within the halls of power. What does
- 28:01Speaker 1: that tell you about how the Biden operation has been run?
- 28:06Speaker 1: But the fact that you would go, okay, well, she
- 28:08Speaker 1: worked for me for a little while. She seemed like
- 28:11Speaker 1: a nice kind of lady. We should put her in
- 28:14Speaker 1: charge of the Secret Service. Well, I mean jobs for
- 28:17Speaker 1: the girls. Now.
- 28:18Speaker 2: She was in the Secret Service for twenty seven years
- 28:20Speaker 2: as an agent, but just because you're a good Secret
- 28:22Speaker 2: Service agent doesn't mean you can run the agency. And
- 28:25Speaker 2: prior to this latest appointment, she was some head of
- 28:27Speaker 2: security for Pepsi's three years.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Well if you protecting of the president, she was looking
- 28:34Speaker 5: after packets of cheetos.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Megan saw no one was shotlifting.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Of course, the vision from the assassination attempt, where you've
- 28:42Speaker 2: got the Secret Service agents bumbling and fumbling their way
- 28:45Speaker 2: through the whole situation, is quite hilarious. But imagine if
- 28:49Speaker 2: if David Attenborough was having to describe exactly how it
- 28:52Speaker 2: all went down.
- 28:53Speaker 14: After Secret Service Barbie, a highly trained member of the
- 28:57Speaker 14: Secret Service, removes her weapons from its holster for the
- 29:01Speaker 14: very first time in her career. She struggles to return
- 29:06Speaker 14: her pea shooter as though it's her first day on
- 29:08Speaker 14: the job. Fortuitously, her skills from a previous life as
- 29:14Speaker 14: an amateur actress come into play, allowing her to convincingly
- 29:20Speaker 14: mimic the swift draw of the weapon and scan the
- 29:23Speaker 14: horizon for threats.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Love that just quickly people may not have seen.
- 29:29Speaker 2: There's an article doubt today in the New York Post
- 29:31Speaker 2: talking about the rooftop that the shooter was on. Inside
- 29:35Speaker 2: that very building were three local police snipers who saw
- 29:40Speaker 2: him arrive look around and they thought that's a bit suspicious.
- 29:43Speaker 3: He went away. Then the government came back.
- 29:45Speaker 2: He's on his phone appearing to do measurements, and the
- 29:49Speaker 2: local police then contacted Secret Service and said, hey, there's
- 29:52Speaker 2: a guy here who you need to check out.
- 29:54Speaker 3: He went away.
- 29:55Speaker 2: The government came back a third time, now with a backpack.
- 29:58Speaker 2: They contact Secret Service again, and then he still has
- 30:02Speaker 2: time to get up on the roof take the shots.
- 30:04Speaker 3: It's an absolute debus.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Some twenty six minutes or so, all of this process,
- 30:10Speaker 1: it's pretty how to happen.
- 30:13Speaker 4: There is no other explanation. You cannot know all these
- 30:17Speaker 4: facts and then just be like, oh, it was a
- 30:20Speaker 4: massive intelligence failure.
- 30:21Speaker 5: And somewhere down the line, the counter snipers did not
- 30:25Speaker 5: even need permission to fire.
- 30:27Speaker 4: They could have pulled the trigger which was indeed trained
- 30:31Speaker 4: upon this guy.
- 30:32Speaker 5: That's how much they knew he was there, waited for
- 30:35Speaker 5: him to fire, and not just fire fire five to
- 30:39Speaker 5: eight times before they.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Opened fire themselves.
- 30:45Speaker 5: There is no way that can be explained away by
- 30:48Speaker 5: a simple Oh, this was just a catastrophic failure, and
- 30:52Speaker 5: that I'm sorry. He was allowed to get on the roof,
- 30:55Speaker 5: he was allowed to stay there. They watched him set
- 30:58Speaker 5: up his scope and rifle. There is just no way
- 31:01Speaker 5: to explain this away. He was not alone gunman. He
- 31:04Speaker 5: could not have done it without in some inside him.
- 31:07Speaker 1: It seems it's pretty damn incredible, right, And of course
- 31:10Speaker 1: we've seen the reaction, the nutso reaction of some people
- 31:14Speaker 1: to all of this. They say, oh, it was an
- 31:16Speaker 1: inside job. By inside job, they mean that Trump himself
- 31:19Speaker 1: set it up. And I mean, I love the idea
- 31:22Speaker 1: that Trump would go and ask someone to shoot his
- 31:25Speaker 1: ear off, because you'd have to really trust that they
- 31:29Speaker 1: were going to do a good job, because I know
- 31:32Speaker 1: exactly because it was like literally millimeters away from the doc.
- 31:38Speaker 4: They're inferring that it's all fake.
- 31:40Speaker 1: So yeah, and he had a bit, a bit of
- 31:47Speaker 1: the whole thing has been set up in order to
- 31:50Speaker 1: boost his campaign, which of course it will and it has.
- 31:53Speaker 1: But of course then you've had all these people saying
- 31:55Speaker 1: that they wish that the bloke had actually killed him.
- 31:58Speaker 1: How dare he be such a bad shot and tenacious?
- 32:02Speaker 1: D the band has been performing in Australia this week.
- 32:06Speaker 1: They were performing in Sydney last night. Of course they'reffronted
- 32:09Speaker 1: by Jack Black and one of his bandmates, Carl Gas,
- 32:12Speaker 1: had his birthday yesterday, so Jack Black bought out a
- 32:17Speaker 1: birthday cake and presented it to mister Gas and said, well,
- 32:21Speaker 1: you have a wish now, and this was.
- 32:23Speaker 10: His wish.
- 32:36Speaker 8: Doing this trump next time.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I mean, for heaven's sake. Look, I know you can
- 32:45Speaker 1: say it whatever, free speech, but for Heaven's sake, you
- 32:49Speaker 1: shouldn't be going around saying those sorts of things at
- 32:51Speaker 1: a concert or in public at all. Engage brain before mouth.
- 32:56Speaker 1: And then of course after this they were meant to
- 32:58Speaker 1: go on to Newcastle and their performance in Newcastle has
- 33:02Speaker 1: now been mysteriously postponed. They haven't told us why it's
- 33:06Speaker 1: been postponed. I think we can maybe discern why it
- 33:10Speaker 1: has been postponed, and because it is by saying things
- 33:15Speaker 1: like that that things like someone trying to take a
- 33:18Speaker 1: shot at the president happens in the first place. We
- 33:21Speaker 1: saw Biden yesterday saying we've got to turn the temperature down.
- 33:24Speaker 1: We've got to turn the temperature down. But it's people
- 33:27Speaker 1: like mister gas it's people like mister Biden who've been
- 33:30Speaker 1: turning the temperature up to gas mark nine for the
- 33:33Speaker 1: last four years. And men act all surprised when something
- 33:37Speaker 1: like this happens, and people like him seemingly are willing
- 33:41Speaker 1: for more of it to happen. Now, that's fine, you
- 33:43Speaker 1: want it to happen to your political opponent, but wait
- 33:46Speaker 1: until it happens to your political guy, because that is
- 33:49Speaker 1: the world that you create when you go and say
- 33:51Speaker 1: things like that.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Well, then Newcastle concert, which was due to be held tonight,
- 33:55Speaker 2: has been postponed, hopefully because they're all on a plane
- 33:57Speaker 2: back to America.
- 33:58Speaker 3: You can't come to our country and effectively And he
- 34:01Speaker 3: said it was a joke, but we all know it
- 34:03Speaker 3: wasn't a joke.
- 34:04Speaker 2: He's advocating for someone else to try another assassination attempt
- 34:08Speaker 2: against Trump. And I mean, we've got our own problems
- 34:10Speaker 2: in terms of social cohesion in this country without having
- 34:14Speaker 2: people like that come and just create more incitement.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Imagine though it imagine our main.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Ally and we've got someone calling for the assassination of
- 34:22Speaker 2: a political leader of our main allies.
- 34:24Speaker 3: He should be immediately sent home.
- 34:26Speaker 5: Imagined calling for the cold blooded murder of a husband
- 34:31Speaker 5: and father and thinking.
- 34:33Speaker 4: That you're the good guy.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Seriously, and at a concert with thousands of impressionable young people.
- 34:40Speaker 5: The message that it sends is this is okay, this
- 34:44Speaker 5: is okay to wish someone dead based on their political beliefs,
- 34:48Speaker 5: which most of those kids would know absolutely nothing about
- 34:52Speaker 5: what Donald Trump actually believes actually stands for, and the
- 34:56Speaker 5: fact that America hadn't had it that.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Good since the sixties under any presidency since that.
- 35:01Speaker 2: To get that in Australia, politicians from the left regularly
- 35:05Speaker 2: talk about Trump's style politics being imported into Australia. So
- 35:10Speaker 2: it's more than a little dangerous to advocate for the
- 35:12Speaker 2: assassination of Trump.
- 35:14Speaker 3: While in this country you've got certain people.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Talking about Conservatives as of having Trump's style politics. You
- 35:19Speaker 2: put those two together, impressionable young people to volatileics.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but of course, what they've always referred to as
- 35:26Speaker 1: Trump style politics has never been Trump style politics. It's
- 35:29Speaker 1: been Democrat style politics. And you know, you've only got
- 35:32Speaker 1: to go back over everything that Biden himself has said
- 35:36Speaker 1: about Trump about how he's an existential threat to America,
- 35:39Speaker 1: He's an existential threat to democracy at the debate. He
- 35:42Speaker 1: said that if you voted for Trump knowing what he
- 35:45Speaker 1: believed in, that you were anti democratic.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I e.
- 35:47Speaker 1: That by casting your vote in a democratic election for
- 35:52Speaker 1: a democratically chosen candidate, that you were somehow anti democracy.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Is crazy. And we were saying before about how people
- 36:00Speaker 1: are claiming that the whole thing was a set up
- 36:02Speaker 1: by Donald Trump. Just take a look at some of
- 36:04Speaker 1: these natters.
- 36:06Speaker 3: So, oh, it's a false flag, foss black false flag people.
- 36:09Speaker 11: Somebody died and two feel injured.
- 36:11Speaker 3: What do you think about that? Les black foss flag.
- 36:13Speaker 4: I thought it was magnificently staged.
- 36:16Speaker 14: It was professionally done.
- 36:18Speaker 10: It almost looked real.
- 36:19Speaker 1: We were staged by who oh, by mister Trump. Of course,
- 36:23Speaker 1: I think this whole thing is staged. Do you think
- 36:24Speaker 1: of stage? It's staged? What the one person who's dead
- 36:30Speaker 1: isn't actually dead. The two people who were critically injured
- 36:33Speaker 1: weren't critically injured, like were they in on it as well?
- 36:37Speaker 1: If that's what you're suggesting is that it was staged
- 36:39Speaker 1: by Trump, you're saying that three people were also willing
- 36:43Speaker 1: to either give their lives or very nearly give their
- 36:46Speaker 1: lives in order to help Donald Trump. And these are
- 36:49Speaker 1: the same people who have complained that people on Trump
- 36:52Speaker 1: side of politics have been conspiracy theorists for a long time,
- 36:56Speaker 1: and now here they are positing the most ridiculous conspiracy
- 37:00Speaker 1: theory all the time.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I guaranteed they'll be advocating for misinformation and bills as well.
- 37:04Speaker 2: We're going to go to a break when we come back.
- 37:06Speaker 2: The Muslim vote in Sydney in a bit of trouble.
- 37:09Speaker 3: That's in the papers coming up next. All right, welcome back.
- 37:18Speaker 2: It turns out there are other things making news aside
- 37:20Speaker 2: from Donald Trump.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Caleb.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Indeed, we were in exactly the same position last night.
- 37:24Speaker 1: We can move on. Now, let's go to the Herald's
- 37:26Speaker 1: son where it says students were cheated. No, the students
- 37:30Speaker 1: weren't cheating. They were done over by the government.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Can you believe it?
- 37:33Speaker 1: Exclusive story by Susie O'Brien. Serious VCE maths exam failures,
- 37:37Speaker 1: including several flawed questions that were virtually impossible to solve
- 37:41Speaker 1: and one which had no correct answer. I have been
- 37:44Speaker 1: exposed in a report that the government tried to keep secret.
- 37:47Speaker 1: What a surprise they tried to keep it secret. Now
- 37:51Speaker 1: this is the twenty twenty two, a year twelve maths exam,
- 37:54Speaker 1: the specialist maths Exam and report was commissioned that Deloitte
- 37:59Speaker 1: carried out, and Deloitte found that there were serious eras.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Of course close questions didn't even have an answer in
- 38:07Speaker 1: five of the questions in that exam. The government then
- 38:10Speaker 1: tried to cover it up, didn't want to release the report.
- 38:13Speaker 1: They said that there were no serious eras that impacted
- 38:16Speaker 1: the students. One student missed out on a Premiers Award
- 38:20Speaker 1: because of the fact that the exam was so dodgy.
- 38:23Speaker 1: I mean, you know, there could have been the difference
- 38:25Speaker 1: between you getting into the unicorse you wanted, etc. How
- 38:30Speaker 1: can we trust that anything is okay in the schools
- 38:34Speaker 1: if the people writing the exams, that people who literally
- 38:37Speaker 1: write the system can't even get the questions right, well,
- 38:41Speaker 1: how can.
- 38:41Speaker 4: We trust not just them? But then the government.
- 38:47Speaker 5: Deloitte came out and said, we did the review. You
- 38:50Speaker 5: guys stuffed up majorly. Some of these questions are literally unanswerable.
- 38:56Speaker 4: The government kept on insisting there's no problem with the exam,
- 39:00Speaker 4: there's no problem like the Jedi trick. Just believe us
- 39:06Speaker 4: a day without line.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Mathematicians from Monash University have said there's been problems for
- 39:11Speaker 2: twenty years with the Victorian maths exam that have never
- 39:14Speaker 2: been addressed. But I feel vindicated. I don't know about
- 39:16Speaker 2: when you were at school math. I didn't do top
- 39:18Speaker 2: level maths. I did a type of maths which very
- 39:21Speaker 2: unfortunately they used to call veggie maths.
- 39:24Speaker 3: But that's what they call it. But I feel vindicated.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Guys a joke anyway, exactly.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I was much of a mathematician either, hins why I
- 39:32Speaker 1: went into journalism so I could deal with words instead.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Now the story on the front of the Herald Sun
- 39:36Speaker 1: tomorrow gas still popular. God, I love this story. Ozzie's
- 39:40Speaker 1: are opting for gas connections in their homes at record numbers,
- 39:44Speaker 1: with the latest industry report showing the Victorian gas companies
- 39:48Speaker 1: have more customers now than they did two years ago.
- 39:52Speaker 1: And of course in Victoria they have banned gas connections
- 39:56Speaker 1: to new homes. But you've still got de sparked that
- 40:00Speaker 1: you've still got people wanting gas because it's better to
- 40:04Speaker 1: cook with, etc. You cannot. You will have to pry
- 40:08Speaker 1: our gas cook tops from our cold dead hands because
- 40:12Speaker 1: I've had, unfortunately electric for years in rentals. I just
- 40:17Speaker 1: want the gas back, please.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Well, and people have figured out that gas heating is
- 40:21Speaker 2: better than no hitting, and they also understand that for
- 40:25Speaker 2: going gas is not going to make a scrap of
- 40:27Speaker 2: difference to the global temperature, no matter how much do
- 40:30Speaker 2: the climate catastrophes cry.
- 40:32Speaker 5: I love this also because it means that people aren't
- 40:35Speaker 5: listening to all these lobby groups who are like fossil
- 40:38Speaker 5: fuels going to be the end of us, The world is.
- 40:40Speaker 4: About to implow. People don't care. They just want their gas.
- 40:45Speaker 4: It also explains why the government is just outright banning
- 40:49Speaker 4: it so you will no longer have the choice. I'm
- 40:52Speaker 4: sorry if you are building somewhere.
- 40:53Speaker 5: You and Victoria, it's just not an option on your
- 40:57Speaker 5: list because they know that people will keep you using
- 41:00Speaker 5: it for as long as it's an option. They're not
- 41:02Speaker 5: buying into this climate communism narrative, and so what other
- 41:07Speaker 5: choices the government have than to be like, okay, we're
- 41:09Speaker 5: mandating it, getting on board with our narrative.
- 41:12Speaker 4: We're just forcing you.
- 41:13Speaker 1: The craziest part of it, as well, is that gas
- 41:15Speaker 1: is much better for the environment than coal. And when
- 41:17Speaker 1: you turn on your electric cook top at the moment,
- 41:20Speaker 1: or you're electric heating at the moment, a large portion
- 41:23Speaker 1: of it is coal. It actually works for the environment
- 41:27Speaker 1: to use electric right now that it is to use gas.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Another story on the front of the Herald sam tomorrow
- 41:32Speaker 1: and they've got a banger front page tomorrow. Three great Yarns.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Metro ad conflict. Victoria's Peak Cancer bodies on a collision
- 41:40Speaker 1: course with the state government over a push for junk
- 41:42Speaker 1: food advertising to be banned from Melbourne's Metro tunnel stations
- 41:47Speaker 1: when the Metro Tunnel opens up next year. The Cancer
- 41:50Speaker 1: Council is lobbying the government. The government is pushing back
- 41:53Speaker 1: at the moment to say that you should have no
- 41:55Speaker 1: junk food advertising whatsoever. Why can't we just be left
- 42:00Speaker 1: our own devices to make our own decisions. If Macas
- 42:04Speaker 1: wants to advertise in there, and look, let's be frank,
- 42:07Speaker 1: we're talking about government infrastructure right Any source of revenue
- 42:11Speaker 1: that the Victorian government can get its hands on that
- 42:14Speaker 1: isn't the taxpayer. I am willing for them to take
- 42:18Speaker 1: right now, bring back cigarette advertisements as far as I'm concerned,
- 42:23Speaker 1: if it means they can pay down a little bit
- 42:25Speaker 1: of debt in Victoria. If they're advertising in McDonald's hamburger
- 42:29Speaker 1: or something.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Who cares.
- 42:30Speaker 2: The funny thing about this article is the Cancer Council,
- 42:32Speaker 2: who do great work, but it says the Council pointed
- 42:35Speaker 2: to new data from a twenty twenty two survey of
- 42:38Speaker 2: four hundred parents, which found two thirds supported restrictions on
- 42:41Speaker 2: unhealthy foods. So they're building their whole case on the
- 42:44Speaker 2: opinions of two hundred and sixty six back.
- 42:47Speaker 5: In twenty two for as States Solid Okay, Solid Council.
- 42:52Speaker 5: I just laughed reading this because it reminded me of
- 42:56Speaker 5: it was roughly two years ago that the Cancer Council
- 43:00Speaker 5: had their own sunscreen taken off the shelves because it
- 43:05Speaker 5: gave people cancer. I think there was cancer causing ingredients
- 43:09Speaker 5: in it.
- 43:09Speaker 4: It made headlines. I just found it hilarious.
- 43:12Speaker 5: And now they're going after people who are like, oh.
- 43:14Speaker 4: You're advertising junk food hashtag trust.
- 43:16Speaker 1: The experts, and they've also the Cancer Council has also
- 43:20Speaker 1: campaigned heavily against vaping, which is of course one of
- 43:23Speaker 1: the most effective ways to give people off cigarettes, because
- 43:26Speaker 1: I don't know, they prefer them to be on the sigis.
- 43:28Speaker 1: I don't know, and there's absolute crap. About four hundred
- 43:32Speaker 1: parents want to two thirds of them say that they
- 43:34Speaker 1: support the restrictions on advertisements on public parenting Exactly, if
- 43:41Speaker 1: you can't stop your kid from eating a burger because
- 43:44Speaker 1: they saw an adder for it, that's your fault. Like
- 43:48Speaker 1: you're the parent, don't you control the food and that
- 43:51Speaker 1: you give to your kid?
- 43:52Speaker 3: Do some parent and it's easy to do parenting. If
- 43:54Speaker 3: you don't want your kids to eat junk food, just
- 43:56Speaker 3: give them a device.
- 44:01Speaker 4: Two marvelous parents. One not yet but giving out parental advice.
- 44:05Speaker 5: I know how much people with kids love getting parental
- 44:08Speaker 5: advice from a twenty five?
- 44:10Speaker 1: Do you disagree with me? Do you disagree? Do you
- 44:12Speaker 1: seriously think we should ban junk food advertising because parents find.
- 44:16Speaker 3: It too hard?
- 44:17Speaker 1: It is not to tip.
- 44:20Speaker 5: I know how much people with children love getting parental advice.
- 44:24Speaker 4: I could give a ten without.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Carefre you go.
- 44:26Speaker 2: I did like your argument, though, we need cigarette advertising
- 44:29Speaker 2: so we can get revenue to pay for people treatment
- 44:31Speaker 2: with cancer.
- 44:32Speaker 3: That is a great argument.
- 44:33Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, don't don't give me that nonsense,
- 44:36Speaker 1: because the excite, the excise that he's generated by tobacco
- 44:41Speaker 1: is far more than he's spent on the health consequences
- 44:45Speaker 1: of smoking. Smokers the heroes in this country. They literally
- 44:48Speaker 1: donate money to the government every single day.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Let's speak with the Australian Liver.
- 44:54Speaker 4: You haven't bought a pack this week, you are not
- 44:57Speaker 4: a patriot.
- 44:58Speaker 5: To the front page of the Australia Muslim Vote campaign
- 45:03Speaker 5: at risk. The fledgling Muslim vote campaign risks, including with
- 45:07Speaker 5: divisions widening within the group among the community at mid
- 45:11Speaker 5: delays in locking in candidates, and claims of infiltration by
- 45:16Speaker 5: ALP operatives. So the community leaders are saying the group
- 45:22Speaker 5: has bitten off more than it can chew and canbra
- 45:25Speaker 5: sources have described its leaded as passionate but politically nay.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Eve, who would have imagined. Let's go to the front
- 45:34Speaker 3: page of the Daily Telegraph.
- 45:36Speaker 2: The headline reads labor eyes two way bridge toll in
- 45:40Speaker 2: election backflip double crosss as the headline, Premier Chrismins is
- 45:44Speaker 2: set to backflip on a pre election promise. He was
- 45:46Speaker 2: very strong on this too, not to impose new tolls,
- 45:49Speaker 2: but it seems like he's going to launch a two
- 45:51Speaker 2: way charge to cross the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Now his rationale is.
- 45:56Speaker 2: That they'll bump up the toll on the bridge, but
- 45:58Speaker 2: then use that revenue to lower tolls everywhere else. Does
- 46:03Speaker 2: anyone really believe the government will use all this extra
- 46:06Speaker 2: revenue to make it cheaper for other people?
- 46:09Speaker 5: Have you, guys tried to claim your toll rebate? By
- 46:12Speaker 5: the way, thanks for that, Men's It is a campaign
- 46:14Speaker 5: promise that he came good on. They won everything like
- 46:18Speaker 5: your fingerprints and a hubane sample I got you not
- 46:21Speaker 5: it's like your license.
- 46:22Speaker 4: Your passport.
- 46:23Speaker 5: I'm like, is this just digital ID by proxy? Will
- 46:27Speaker 5: give you free money back for all those toolls you paid?
- 46:29Speaker 5: Just tell us absolutely everything about you that we don't
- 46:32Speaker 5: already know.
- 46:33Speaker 3: We've got to go to a break. When we come back.
- 46:35Speaker 2: The star strangled banner that's in the moment, Well, we
- 46:41Speaker 2: all know Americans need to be brought together, but I'm
- 46:43Speaker 2: not sure this rendition of the national anthem is going
- 46:46Speaker 2: to do it. Ingrid and Dress, she's a four time
- 46:49Speaker 2: Grammy nominee, performed the anthem at a baseball game in Texas.
- 46:53Speaker 2: And if Trump didn't need a bandage on his ear
- 46:56Speaker 2: before this, he certainly would after.
- 47:04Speaker 8: Bursts.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Sometimes you show things in this program that just required no.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Commentary, who was you know, that wasn't actually the national
- 47:36Speaker 1: that was someone strangling air.
- 47:38Speaker 3: That's why they called the star strangled banner. That's what
- 47:40Speaker 3: they called.
- 47:41Speaker 1: It cannot be they cannot be real.
- 47:43Speaker 3: She's like Grammy Award nominee.
- 47:45Speaker 15: I'm actually I know, I know, okay, I know we
- 47:48Speaker 15: laugh and I know we're laughing about it, But like,
- 47:52Speaker 15: did anyone actually go and check on her vitals because
- 47:55Speaker 15: I'm worried she was having a stroke.
- 47:56Speaker 2: If you watch the whole vision, even the baseball players
- 47:59Speaker 2: themselves from the dugout, they are trying to, Oh my god, one.
- 48:09Speaker 4: Last laugh before we go tonight.
- 48:11Speaker 5: We've all talked about the massive cognitive cognitive dissonance of
- 48:15Speaker 5: the left. On the one hand, if only Trump was dead,
- 48:18Speaker 5: And on the other hand, no, no, we we are
- 48:21Speaker 5: the people of peace, come to bring peace and goodwill
- 48:24Speaker 5: upon the world, and Trump's the really divisive one.
- 48:27Speaker 4: Check out these display. It just sums it up beautifully.
- 48:32Speaker 7: Well, it's a shame the person missed, but it's ironic
- 48:39Speaker 7: that the shooter was also a Republican. And I am
- 48:43Speaker 7: scared about political violence.
- 48:45Speaker 1: You're scared of political violence, but you you were hoping
- 48:49Speaker 1: that he wouldn't have bessed.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Yes, would you like to talk us through that? Would
- 48:54Speaker 5: you like to explain, you know, just elucidate on that
- 48:59Speaker 5: point where Trump was dead.
- 49:02Speaker 4: But I'm worried about political they're not a fan of.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Political worried about political violence. And she's holding a crossbow, I.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Know, and standing there sounding like Kermit the Frog, by
- 49:12Speaker 1: the way, But I'm not sure whether I would prefer
- 49:15Speaker 1: to listen to her with that clap trap or listen
- 49:18Speaker 1: to that version of the anthem I heard before.
- 49:20Speaker 4: I don't know the anthem in the background.
- 49:23Speaker 3: We got to go stick around. Coming up in just
- 49:25Speaker 3: a moment is the reader pendenty Show
