- 0:15Speaker 3: We be getting excited about TGIF right now.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Like the Steve R Cole.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Yeah, don't threaten me with a good time.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Time to change.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Ladies, gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I'm your host.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Mike Wade, co-host over there.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Mike white, Happy Friday.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yay, I like to call it by a is it's?
- 0:43Speaker 1: I just made that up.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I mean I'll need you.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I've never heard that before, ever.
- 0:46Speaker 3: It's very original, I love it.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Welcome folks.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Thanks for joining us today.
- 0:49Speaker 3: On this Friday, we are typically coming to you at Wednesday, although we've had some changes this week's.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Do apologize about that.
- 0:56Speaker 3: My family had COVID, have COVID.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I still have COVID, actually, but I'm I'm on the rebound big time, feeling a whole lot better, but it's been a rough couple days.
- 1:04Speaker 3: So we did not get a chance to do the recording we typically do on Tuesday, wednesday.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So I don't know is what it is.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Here we are, so that's, that's how I'm doing.
- 1:13Speaker 3: How about you, mike?
- 1:14Speaker 1: I'm good it's.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It's been a long week, but I'm feeling good, I'm psyched.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It's starting to be cold outside, which I love, and gosh darn it.
- 1:22Speaker 1: We are halfway through college football season.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I know it's so sad.
- 1:25Speaker 3: We have seen literally we are some many teams have already played six games, which is just crazy.
- 1:30Speaker 3: We only get six more of these things, so that is a bummer.
- 1:33Speaker 3: So what we're typically gonna do is we talk about last week.
- 1:35Speaker 3: We're not gonna do that.
- 1:36Speaker 3: We shouldn't go ahead and jump right into this week because, frankly, all this stuff happened six days ago and some of the stuff are already happened last night.
- 1:42Speaker 3: The Colorado Stanford game is in like eight hours and then obviously, all them headline Events is tomorrow, so we're just gonna go ahead and skip right to it.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Before we do that, let's go ahead and talk a little bit about last night, the um.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Did you watch the Houston?
- 1:56Speaker 3: That was amazing.
- 2:00Speaker 1: What a finish.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Holgerson with little revenge.
- 2:03Speaker 3: He had to have those.
- 2:04Speaker 3: You don't know.
- 2:05Speaker 3: West Virginia played Houston last night, lost on a last second Hail Mary, dana Holger and the coach of Houston, who's been a little bit of trouble recently in terms of being at a hot seat they he was.
- 2:15Speaker 3: He was picked off of a West Virginia staff, so West Virginia really wanted this one.
- 2:21Speaker 3: West Virginia came back and got a touchdown to go ahead by four points with like 30 seconds left, got an unnecessary celebration penalty, blah, blah, blah.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Next thing you know they're throwing a Hail Mary from 50 yard line.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Cougars come down with it, get the win 39, 41.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I bet the under.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Huge mistake.
- 2:37Speaker 3: What a game.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that was wild.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I don't know what to say about it, except just you see it every time, those, those penalties after the go-ahead score, and it just sets the other team up to give them a chance.
- 2:55Speaker 3: And Just can't do that.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah, if we learned anything from last week, from the Georgia Tech Miami debacle, which I'm sure you all know of by now.
- 3:02Speaker 3: You just can't give up.
- 3:04Speaker 3: You can't give up until the clocks is.
- 3:06Speaker 3: You know it, literally.
- 3:06Speaker 3: The fat lady.
- 3:07Speaker 3: She ain't singing yet.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Don't mess it up.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Get the wins, cure the game, lock it down.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And we've just seen, we've seen this too many times.
- 3:14Speaker 3: So, moving on, tonight we have a little bit of interesting action.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Stanford, the Stanford Cardinal, are plus 12 and a half at.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Colorado's game is 10 o'clock Eastern time.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I'm probably gonna watch it because I'm just home quarantining all weekend doing nothing, so might as well check it out.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Um, you tell you the truth, I don't really like Stanford.
- 3:32Speaker 3: I don't really like a Colorado cover this game.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Stanford's all coming off a buy.
- 3:35Speaker 3: They're not good, but they are the best version of their selves.
- 3:39Speaker 3: They're gonna be, and 12 and a half points is too high.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I don't have any takes on this game or really Colorado.
- 3:44Speaker 3: The halfway point this season, other than my bold prediction, was way off, I saw like in the cover tonight.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this could be one of those trap games.
- 3:53Speaker 1: We haven't seen Colorado get up for a game that they haven't been disrespected in, and there's no Disrespect dreamed up.
- 4:02Speaker 1: In this one we saw him survive against Colorado State In a lackluster performance.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I'm expecting kind of the same.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I don't think they run away and hide.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I think it's a decent game until late.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Colorado is also still pretty banged up in a lot of ways.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So, yeah, this one could be kind of a sneaky good matchup.
- 4:23Speaker 3: It'd be.
- 4:23Speaker 3: If you have nothing else do on Friday night in your home quarantining, you should watch Moving on.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Let's go ahead and jump into the big one.
- 4:30Speaker 3: The headline event, the Pac-12 de facto national championship.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Maybe Oregon at UW.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Uw is a three-point favorite.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I mean honestly, this is game for me is probably gonna define the fate of our polos.
- 4:43Speaker 3: If Michael Penex goes in there, wins this game, I think I got feeling pretty good about our chance to win the Heisman.
- 4:48Speaker 3: If he doesn't and Bo next company takes it down, we might be in trouble.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Monster game three points what are your initial, what are your first takes on this one?
- 4:58Speaker 1: I Think that you're gonna see a lot of offense.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I I like Oregon's balance, probably a little bit better.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I Don't know.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's gonna be an explosive game.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You've got Bo nix on one side, you've got Michael Penex Jr On the other.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Could be, you know, a lot of high-level quarterback play and, like you said, potential Heisman on the line for both guys, potential season Refiner for both teams.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I.
- 5:28Speaker 3: So what I keep when I keep hearing it's very trendy picks of Kyle.
- 5:31Speaker 3: So organ is, you could argue based on what we've seen so far, is probably the more complete Teenage, particularly on defense.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Udub has not been great against the run, although they haven't played at the competition, but I was like I would make the same case for Oregon.
- 5:44Speaker 3: You're seeing a lot of college football talking heads taking Oregon money line to win, just to win, outright forget to spread.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And I think the reason they're making that case is they believe that organ is better on the offensive line, better than the defensive line.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I'm not saying that's not true.
- 5:59Speaker 3: I'm saying we haven't seen yet because Oregon really hasn't played anybody.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Their best game was Texas Tech.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I'm almost lost, so I'm not.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I have not been romanticized by Oregon being superior to.
- 6:09Speaker 3: My point is I think the line is right, I think I think you do it.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Yeah, three point favor.
- 6:13Speaker 3: That's my point.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this could go either way.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I think the offense should be fun to watch and it ultimately will come down to probably which quarterback makes makes more plays.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah, next is gonna hurt you and make some of those splash plays with his legs.
- 6:27Speaker 1: But how consistent can he be?
- 6:28Speaker 1: We've seen some really high highs and really low lows with him.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Pennings Jr has been a little bit more across the board consistent and you know, quite frankly, his, his ceiling is a bit higher.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So you know, I like him better as a quarterback, but I like Oregon probably better to win in the trenches and do some of those things that you know don't necessarily show up on the stat sheet.
- 6:52Speaker 1: We shall see.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Southern cow at Notre Dame.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Notre Dame minus three.
- 6:55Speaker 3: This game is the calling for weather.
- 6:59Speaker 3: This game is a big one for both teams.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Usc has looked Horrific on defense all season.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Obviously, we all know about Caleb Williams and those weapons out there.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 7:07Speaker 3: This is my kind of my lock of the week.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I got Notre Dame winning this game big.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 7:13Speaker 3: They went to Louisville, lost last week in emotional letdown spot.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I think Notre Dame is going to run the bejesus at the ball.
- 7:19Speaker 3: They're gonna play defense.
- 7:19Speaker 3: They're gonna get enough stops.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I don't think Caleb Williams and those guys can travel to a cold, rainy situation like South Bend and play physical football, because They've done nothing of the sort at all in 2023.
- 7:33Speaker 3: So why is this gonna be any different?
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah, this is one of those that I kind of hate.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Hate to agree with you, because I think this is a huge bounce back spot for Notre Dame.
- 7:40Speaker 1: It was the perfect storm last week against Louisville.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Notre Dame is still a really good team and probably a much more complete team Then than Southern Cal.
- 7:50Speaker 1: They're better in the trenches, they play better defense, that they can run the ball better, and I know and and we've seen Southern Cal just continue to kind of limp along.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I think if they do win this one, if Southern Cal wins this one, it legitimizes them in a big way.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it puts them back in the conversation.
- 8:09Speaker 3: You know it was last week or two weeks ago.
- 8:10Speaker 3: One of my notes was like I just I think Southern Cal is just an unserious team because of how bad their defense, whereas Utah is exact opposite.
- 8:14Speaker 3: They're unserious because how bad their offense is, although that apparently they're getting camera rising back this week.
- 8:19Speaker 3: I'll believe it when I see it.
- 8:20Speaker 3: I want to see that guy out there and see what they look like.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I'm not taking USC seriously until they win a game like this.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I just don't think they have it in them, so I'm not banking on it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I got Notre Dame winning by 10 to 14 points in a rainy, dreary Kind of evening in South Bend.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I like Notre Dame to win as well.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I don't know how big it's going to be.
- 8:39Speaker 1: But this, that'll be a fun one to watch and, yeah, I think it's done in the trenches and it's done with with the run game for Notre Dame Miami Hurricanes at UNC.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Carl Heels are a three and a half point favorite.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Miami coming off the loss of that probably and we'll just talk about it briefly the worst loss I've ever seen.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Mike, I'm telling you I've watched Hundreds, maybe thousands of football games.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I've never seen inexplicably bad college football loss.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I saw that.
- 9:06Speaker 3: The whole Neil Downs fiasco, what you all know.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm really sorry for Mara Cristobal.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I'm really sorry for the players those players obviously got totally hosed by their coaches.
- 9:15Speaker 3: I it should be too undefeated.
- 9:17Speaker 3: It should be.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I'm two undefeated, two teams.
- 9:21Speaker 3: It should be two undefeated teams here, but it's not.
- 9:23Speaker 3: The question is for me Is how well Miami can rebound.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I don't have a problem with that, but I'm going to bet it live because I think if Miami Can rebound after such a loss, if they can take that in stride and not let it beat them twice, which is we've seen a lot of spots hard for them to do, I think if they can rebound they can show up for this game, and I think they can.
- 9:43Speaker 3: But if they do, I like Miami to win this one.
- 9:46Speaker 3: I can Miami to win it outright, but I think we're going to know right away what version Miami shows up in the first quarter.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I no-transcript.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that take.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I think, if you know, if this weird thing doesn't happen at the end of the game last week against Georgia Tech it's a totally different sort of viewpoint on this matchup but it shouldn't be Because it was one play.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Miami is still a very dangerous team.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I do kind of like them to bounce back.
- 10:16Speaker 1: This is kind of a defining moment for Mario Cristobal.
- 10:19Speaker 1: He's had a lot of detractors, a lot of haters, more and more after last week.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So if you can kind of calm the storm a little bit and you're looking at a one loss team and taking down a very quality North Carolina team, that would go a long way towards kind of propelling him to the next step.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Yeah, what, once upon a time, a lot of the big talk, college football prominent talking figures were talking about Tyler Van Dyke for Heisman.
- 10:42Speaker 3: I don't know if you remember that, but that was a real prominent talking point amongst.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I do remember that.
- 10:46Speaker 1: A lot of very prominent, well respected college football mind for saying that.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty good too.
- 10:51Speaker 3: And you, miami's got a really good offensive line.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Unc one of the nearest by UNC has been Drake.
- 10:57Speaker 3: May is all world.
- 10:57Speaker 3: He's awesome.
- 10:58Speaker 3: He's probably a top two or three pick this year.
- 11:00Speaker 3: That's all still true, but UNC has just been horrific on defense.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Gene Chiswick is just an a woeful job.
- 11:05Speaker 3: This time.
- 11:05Speaker 3: They've done this time they've done pretty well.
- 11:07Speaker 3: However, they have not faced a ton.
- 11:10Speaker 3: They've not had a chance to go against a good offense and this is a really good offense.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Miami's got a really good offensive, got a lot of talent.
- 11:17Speaker 3: So this is, while it's very much a rebound game for Miami, it's also, if we're going to take UNC seriously as a playoff contender, as a, because if you look at rest of schedule, they got a lot of wins on there.
- 11:27Speaker 3: This is, this is going to be a proven moment for UNC.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Should we be talking about them in late November?
- 11:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I had a really bad bold prediction early on, which is that's why it was bold.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I threw it out there.
- 11:39Speaker 1: North Carolina was going to go like six and six or something like that and that's not looking too good.
- 11:44Speaker 1: But they've improved a lot, They've they.
- 11:47Speaker 1: They won that game early against South Carolina and their defense is getting better and their offense is even better than we thought it was going to be.
- 11:56Speaker 1: We thought their offense was going to be good, so this will be a really interesting one to watch and kind of again you know turning point for maybe both of these teams this year.
- 12:06Speaker 3: I was impressed with what they did the Syracuse last week Syracuse is, I mean, they're not great but they're foreign to.
- 12:10Speaker 3: They beat them 40 to 7.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Yes, destroyed Syracuse, and that's that.
- 12:16Speaker 3: That says something to me, that I should be you and I should probably give UNC a little more credence that we have.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you got to be able to do that to teams you're supposed to.
- 12:24Speaker 1: You got to put them away, you know, and that one probably should have been a little bit closer.
- 12:28Speaker 1: So they yeah, they do deserve a lot of credit for that.
- 12:32Speaker 3: And look at and listen.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Look at the schedule.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I mean, honestly, the Miami game is very loseable than they've got.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Uva at Georgia Tech, campbell versus Duke, which we don't know what Duke looks like post Wiley Leonard if he comes back, will he be there or not?
- 12:43Speaker 3: At Clemson, at NC State, those last three games are going to be challenging.
- 12:47Speaker 3: But if they win this one, they're cruising till nine and oh Duke what they're looking at.
- 12:52Speaker 3: So we're talking about a nine and oh Duke team rounding a couple weeks after Halloween.
- 12:57Speaker 3: So heads up UNC, we'll see what we'll see.
- 13:00Speaker 3: We got Cool, keep rolling, missou.
- 13:03Speaker 3: At Kentucky.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I'm super interested in this because obviously it's sec.
- 13:06Speaker 3: This is I think it's at Kentucky to three point favorite.
- 13:09Speaker 3: This is two teams that are pretty sound defensively but are attacking teams offensively totally different.
- 13:16Speaker 3: This is why I'm so interested.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Obviously I think ready cook is there and good quarterback, and then what is going to be a good pass offense and then what Kentucky's doing with Ray Davis, the Vanderbilt transfer.
- 13:26Speaker 3: They are just bludgeoning people on the ground.
- 13:28Speaker 3: So this is classic run versus throw, which could defences.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I would call them kind of a wash.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I think those units are about the same we got yeah, we still don't know who a lot of these teams are.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And this is another one you know UNC and Miami, missouri, kentucky, you know a lot of these teams kind of got built up a little bit, and then you know Kentucky got humbled.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Missouri lost a tough one to your LSU Tigers, yeah, and so this will go a lot to kind of shake out who is, you know, more powerful in the SEC East?
- 14:06Speaker 1: It's, it's.
- 14:08Speaker 1: When is Devon Leary going to step up and be the guy that we thought he was?
- 14:11Speaker 1: Kentucky solid defensively, like you, like you mentioned, I do kind of like Missouri better as a team, but so, you know, push comes to shove.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I like Missouri in this one, but I can see this going either way as well.
- 14:26Speaker 3: I got UNC, I got Kentucky taking care of business at home.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I think they're going to ground and pound them just running running game, control the clock, that kind of game.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But Missouri and those receivers, those receivers are good Missouri's offense is legit explosive If they get, if they get a little bit of a lead or if they can hit on some splash plays.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Kentucky's got the firepower to really come back or keep up with that.
- 14:46Speaker 3: I mean, I'll tell you they abused the Bejesus out of my beloved LSU Tiger defense.
- 14:50Speaker 3: I lost a lot of sleep on that game.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Luther Burton is a superstar.
- 14:53Speaker 3: We're going to be talking about him as a dominant SEC wide out for a while.
- 14:57Speaker 3: So, anyway, that should be.
- 14:59Speaker 3: That should be really funny, yeah, that was pretty ugly.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Super quick on this one.
- 15:03Speaker 3: This is because of rank matchup UCLA at Oregon State minus four and a half.
- 15:07Speaker 3: The over under on this game is 54 and a half.
- 15:10Speaker 3: That is absolute madness.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Pound the under.
- 15:12Speaker 3: That is my only take on you on UCLA Oregon State at eight o'clock on Fox.
- 15:18Speaker 1: But she got that one, Um, this is another one.
- 15:21Speaker 1: You know who are these teams?
- 15:22Speaker 1: Um, you're, I guess that's a broken record at this point, but, um, UCLA, flying under the radar, they are a pretty good team and, um, I kind of like them to win this one.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Um, but again, not a strong take, not a lot of feelings.
- 15:39Speaker 1: One more, the other, another, just fun one to be kind of a non committed fan on on this one and watch some fireworks play out.
- 15:50Speaker 3: I think Dante Moore there's the UCLA is still trying to figure out what they have with him.
- 15:53Speaker 3: He's obviously the freshman.
- 15:54Speaker 3: He's still developing.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Dju is obviously having a bit of resurgence.
- 15:57Speaker 3: He's having, he's having a good, pretty pretty good year.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Um, I Oregon State probably wins cause they're probably better team and they're playing at home and playing in core of Alice is just tough, um, but I just want to get my whole points.
- 16:08Speaker 3: I don't think it's gonna be a lot of points.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I just think this could be.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Both.
- 16:11Speaker 3: These teams have particularly good defenses, not just for pack 12 standards, for college football standards in general.
- 16:16Speaker 3: They're just very good defensive teams.
- 16:18Speaker 3: So I really like that to pound the under.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Here's a quick thought for you, mike.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Listen to these quarter brand arms strong gets benched Filter.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Kovac switches positions.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Uh, dennis Devon leary is not looking great.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Grant Wells lost his job to Kyra Jones, it's.
- 16:31Speaker 3: There's a weird phenomenon happening of transfer quarterbacks where the grass is not.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Sam Hartman doesn't look as good as did at Wake Forest.
- 16:37Speaker 3: We're seeing this weird thing with transfer quarterbacks.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Um, there, a lot of them are not working out the way that I thought they would and kind of, so far at least halfway through the season.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Well, you take these guys and you think it's going to be plug and play, and it just shows you why the quarterback position is the most complicated position on the field.
- 16:57Speaker 1: You know you, it's hard to step into a new offense and just hit the ground running right away.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think that's what you're seeing a lot, although you met you through Sam Hartman in there and he won that game for them against Duke.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Um, yes, he did.
- 17:12Speaker 1: He's at that big time, that's true.
- 17:13Speaker 3: So he's still paying off, don't get it twisted.
- 17:17Speaker 3: He's just not having to wait for us.
- 17:18Speaker 3: You know that's slow mesh, dave Cutcliffe offense.
- 17:20Speaker 3: They've got a day closet, like there.
- 17:22Speaker 3: He's not doing that, but he's still.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I mean, I think I've.
- 17:25Speaker 3: I think I think every Notre Dame fan is still really happy to have him and not Ian Buck as a quarterback, winning his quarterback all time.
- 17:31Speaker 3: By the way, let's keep it rolling.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Iowa at Wisconsin.
- 17:34Speaker 3: This is just disgusting.
- 17:36Speaker 3: This is for the Big 10 West, which is unbelievably bad, wisconsin's 10 point favorite.
- 17:42Speaker 3: I'm calling this a sacrificial lamb bull.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I give neither of these teams the remotest chance of beating Penn State, ohio State or Michigan in Indy in the big 10 championship, although I'm pretty convinced one of these two teams is gonna be there to get their get the doors blown off.
- 18:01Speaker 3: It's just ridiculous.
- 18:03Speaker 3: As crazy as I was gonna go like 10 and two they're gonna go.
- 18:06Speaker 3: They're gonna get double digit wins with, like the most putrid version.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Calling it an offense is offensive to offenses everywhere.
- 18:14Speaker 3: I don't even know what they're doing.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I mean, wisconsin is not they're getting.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Wisconsin will be better.
- 18:18Speaker 3: They're just not there yet.
- 18:20Speaker 3: They got a lot of new going on.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Just a gross game.
- 18:23Speaker 3: But it's crazy Cause, honestly, whoever wins this game is going to the big 10 championship.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, five and one and four and one, and neither of these teams are very good.
- 18:33Speaker 1: But the thing about college football is you don't have to be the finished product halfway through the season and so if you can just continue to survive and continue.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I mean, you know these teams get better, they find their identity, they figure out what works.
- 18:46Speaker 1: They figure out you know it clicks for players at different times in their development.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So I wouldn't close the book completely on either of these teams, except for maybe Iowa's offense.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I don't know that you're gonna see a big resurgence from them, but that doesn't mean that they can't still both be very good teams.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I don't see them beating any of the big 10 East teams, but the three superpowers right.
- 19:12Speaker 1: But still.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, me too, I was keep rolling.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Kansas minus three at Oklahoma State.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I don't think Oklahoma State is very good, but still water is a tough place to play.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I think last Friday Kansas State went in there and they were like eight point favorites.
- 19:27Speaker 3: They lost handily.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Kansas is still without Jalen Daniels.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Kansas is, I think, actually the third best team in the big 12, behind Texas and Oklahoma, which are both awesome.
- 19:38Speaker 3: We all saw the Red River shoot out, but this is a tricky spot for Kansas, especially without Jalen again going to still water.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Gundy is in a little bit of a hot seat situation.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Alan Bowman is limited.
- 19:50Speaker 3: He's not a great quarterback but this is very gettable, especially if Kansas break downs on defense and he takes on this one.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I do think Oklahoma State's surging a little bit right now.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I think Kansas has catch him at a bad time and I think Kansas without their star quarterback regardless if he's 100%, 80%, I don't know what that's gonna look like, but I do think that Oklahoma State, they're catching a hot team right now in Oklahoma State.
- 20:21Speaker 1: So I like the Cowboys in this one.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Obviously, the week three lost to South Alabama at 33.7 was a real low moment for the Oki State In a while.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Iowa State tough loss, seven.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Kansas State big win.
- 20:33Speaker 3: This is a spot we talked about all the time.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Still water reminds me a lot of Texas Tech.
- 20:43Speaker 3: They go nuts there, so going there playing.
- 20:46Speaker 3: It's gonna be a big spot.
- 20:47Speaker 3: They're gonna want that bad.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised if Oklahoma State pulls it out, especially without senior leadership.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Lance Leipoldt's gonna better have some things dialed up.
- 20:55Speaker 3: All right, cool.
- 20:55Speaker 3: That's all I got, other than the homers.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Anything else in their game you wanna touch on before we jump into the homer time?
- 21:01Speaker 1: No, let's do homer time.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Cool, I'm gonna do LSU first.
- 21:04Speaker 3: I just wanna quickly touch on what happened to LSU last week.
- 21:06Speaker 3: They beat Missouri in really exciting fashion.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I don't know if you had a chance to watch that game.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Lsu's defense in the second half, after giving up three straight touchdown drives to open up the game, got some stops, got two turnovers.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I think we got our first sack in two games.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Signs of life on defense.
- 21:24Speaker 3: And the offense continues to be absolutely legendary At every position.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Lsu is playing at an extremely high level in offense.
- 21:31Speaker 3: The offensive line is clicking the Logan digs and Notre Dame transfer is absolutely ballin.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Mason Taylor, the tight end, jaden Daniels has put himself top three in the Heisman.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Brian Thomas Malik neighbors have become the one two combination in the SEC, if not the country, statistically, and they're pretty much in top five in every meaningful category.
- 21:50Speaker 3: And we needed every bit of it to have it.
- 21:54Speaker 3: So really great win for the LSU.
- 21:58Speaker 3: It's nice to see the defense do a little something this week.
- 22:01Speaker 3: We are minus 11 at home, so I'm hosting Auburn.
- 22:05Speaker 3: For me the question is is like can the defense pick up where it left off?
- 22:09Speaker 3: Can we see a little bit of help?
- 22:12Speaker 3: The good news for LSU is five last six games are at home.
- 22:17Speaker 3: All the best offenses are behind us.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Kj Jefferson is the fourth best quarterback that LSU has faced this year.
- 22:25Speaker 3: He's better than every quarterback we are going to face the rest of the season, including Jalen Milrow and including Peyton Thorn and Robbie Ashford at Auburn.
- 22:33Speaker 3: This game is weird.
- 22:36Speaker 3: It's got a lot of history.
- 22:37Speaker 3: I like LSU to cover, I think, but I just think Hugh Freese is gonna throw.
- 22:43Speaker 3: He's gonna throw the kitchen sink at us.
- 22:45Speaker 3: This is what I really think.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I do think this is a little bit of a trap game for LSU, but I don't think it's going to matter.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Maybe it's a little early panic, you know, comes second quarter when LSU hasn't pulled away.
- 23:41Speaker 1: It's late, you know, maybe around half time and it's maybe a seven point, 10 point game.
- 23:46Speaker 1: But it's in Baton Rouge, it's a night game.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Auburn just doesn't have the horses.
- 23:52Speaker 1: They are coming off a bye, so they're healthy.
- 23:54Speaker 1: They've prepped LSU coming off that emotional, you know, back and forth game with Mizzou probably a little gassed.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I just don't think it'll be enough.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I don't think it'll matter.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I like, I like LSU to win, you know, probably by 10, maybe 14, 17.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I like them to cover.
- 24:14Speaker 3: I think the numbers probably about right.
- 24:16Speaker 3: I wouldn't.
- 24:16Speaker 3: I wouldn't surprise me, especially when you're given the history of this rivalry.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Just goes back.
- 24:20Speaker 3: We've seen.
- 24:22Speaker 3: We've seen really bad Auburn teams and really bad LSU teams make these games closer than they should be.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Although, yeah, I think, but essentially you and I agree, so go Tigers Moving on.
- 24:31Speaker 3: This actually might be the game I'm most interested in.
- 24:32Speaker 3: I know this game you're most interested.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Tennessee hosting Texas A&M.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Tennessee is a three, I think a three and a half, three and a half point, depending on where you look, Coming off a bye, Texas A&M gut wrenching loss to Bama last week.
- 24:47Speaker 3: This is your game.
- 24:48Speaker 3: You go ahead and open it up.
- 24:49Speaker 1: So, looking at what A&M did last week, they looked really good.
- 24:53Speaker 1: They were leading Bama at the half.
- 24:55Speaker 1: There were some question play calling by Jimbo Fisher.
- 25:00Speaker 1: They kind of fell apart a little bit, but they did a lot of good things.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Well, the question is, is A&M secondary that bad?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Or did Bama turn the corner and have they opened up kind of the playbook for Jalen Milrow?
- 25:15Speaker 1: Did they tap into something with him?
- 25:18Speaker 1: Your team was able to run the ball.
- 25:19Speaker 1: A&m has a fantastic front seven.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I think there were less than 100 yards on the ground last week between both Bama and A&M.
- 25:29Speaker 1: So fast forward to this week.
- 25:31Speaker 1: You've got the best running team in the SEC in Tennessee and you've got the best pass rush in the nation in A&M.
- 25:40Speaker 1: But right behind that is Tennessee's pass rush.
- 25:43Speaker 1: So you'll see a lot of pressure on both quarterbacks and it'll be strength on strength, with the run game versus A&M's run stopping defense.
- 25:53Speaker 1: It is at home.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I really like that and I think that it's going to be a nice chess match to see if Tennessee can supplement the run game with some quick hitters on the outside Coming off a bye week Josh Hypel, seven and one Tennessee's one, 12 in a row, I think, at home.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Overall, I just think there's probably too many things in Tennessee's favor.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I like a close one for the Vols.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Yeah, the intangibles have hit the scales for me as well.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I love the Vols at home coming off a bye Hypel, having time to plan, especially.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Not only that, you don't really know what kind of shape A&M is going to be coming to.
- 26:31Speaker 3: That loss, that was the game they thought they were going to win.
- 26:34Speaker 3: I think you and I both predicted A&M to win that game.
- 26:37Speaker 3: We both were wrong.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I was feeling really good about that picture.
- 26:39Speaker 1: We both were feeling it.
- 26:39Speaker 1: We were on half time.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Imagine what A&M is feeling coming.
- 26:43Speaker 3: This is a spot where you need to schedule a Citadel, having picked on them in a while.
- 26:48Speaker 3: So now it's time.
- 26:48Speaker 3: This is your chance to get that Citadel, win and then go.
- 26:51Speaker 3: This is a bad spot for them.
- 26:53Speaker 3: I also think Tennessee has been really good at rushing the pasture.
- 26:57Speaker 3: If there's anybody who's really good at holding onto the ball too long, it's Max Johnson, former LSU quarterback, max Johnson.
- 27:04Speaker 3: I've seen this guy do that a million times.
- 27:07Speaker 1: He got banged up pretty bad last week against Bama too.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I think they hit him for like six sacks, so he's feeling it.
- 27:12Speaker 3: He's also not good at getting on the ground either.
- 27:14Speaker 3: He's prone to taking some big shots.
- 27:17Speaker 3: I've certainly seen that as well.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I expect both defenses to play well, especially in the front seven.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I think Tennessee's secondary is obviously better than it was last year.
- 27:27Speaker 3: For me, the question is I think running the ball is going to be tough, even though I think that's Tennessee's bread and butter.
- 27:34Speaker 3: This year they're running the ball so well.
- 27:36Speaker 3: I love it.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Right and small and third three guys Samson, I think, is running about.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Samson yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I really like what they're doing.
- 27:42Speaker 3: A&m's their defensive line is coming alive.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I think it's going to be a Milton game.
- 27:50Speaker 3: I think this is going to be a Milton Kenny make a couple plays.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Can a couple rollouts, couple intermediate puts, with the secondary being as bad as he is, can Hypo expose some bad matchups and playdown breakdowns, maybe turn those 15-yard passes to 70-yard passes.
- 28:04Speaker 3: This is the kind of thing that I think the Vols are going to be able to do two once or twice, three times this game.
- 28:11Speaker 3: That's going to be the difference.
- 28:12Speaker 3: I like the Vols by, I'm going to say seven, just because I think there's so many intangible things like you're saying going for the Vols playing at Nailand, playing after all comfort a week, a&m just reeling.
- 28:24Speaker 3: I just don't have much faith in Jimbo Fisher to get these guys turned back around.
- 28:32Speaker 1: There's some stats circulating around.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I forget exactly, but A&M hasn't won a true road game under Jimbo Fisher, taking out the COVID year.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I don't know what that's worth, but just put that on the pile of things to consider.
- 28:49Speaker 1: They made Bama try to beat them through the air with deep shots and they did it, like you said.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Can Milton hit a couple of those?
- 28:59Speaker 1: I think he'll need to.
- 29:00Speaker 1: So we'll see.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I like the Vols.
- 29:04Speaker 1: It should be a good one.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I think it'll be a close game.
- 29:06Speaker 1: It should be pretty nerve-wracking.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Let's keep it rolling.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Uva is on a buy, but shout out, uva getting their first win.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Tony Musket, baby, big game beating my older mother, the William Mary tribe.
- 29:20Speaker 3: It's good to get a win.
- 29:20Speaker 3: It's a win they had to have.
- 29:21Speaker 3: They took our business.
- 29:23Speaker 3: They looked better.
- 29:23Speaker 3: I think I saw someone.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Malik Washington is like second or third in the country in yards receiving their.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Uva has found Malik Highfields and Malik Washington are awesome wide receivers.
- 29:35Speaker 3: They have found some real weapons and that's awesome.
- 29:38Speaker 3: And Musket and the backup Clangria are capable quarterbacks.
- 29:42Speaker 3: So I know it's FCS win.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I know William Mary is not an ACC caliber opponent, but a win to win.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Good for the Wahoos.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Get that one under their belts and doing it the way they should be doing it, which was just handling it the whole way.
- 29:54Speaker 1: They're on a buy, yeah, and they're getting better and this is a good time for a buy week because then they've got a very good North Carolina team, north Carolina coming off, going to be coming off a big game here against Miami Like you got an extra week to prepare, like we'll see.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Not saying but I'm saying, not saying, but I'm saying there could be a chance We'll get to that.
- 30:14Speaker 1: We'll get that breakdown next week, I mean that's the kind of thing, though, that can define your season.
- 30:18Speaker 1: If you're UVA, I mean just looking ahead Like you could have a bad season, but you knock off a top.
- 30:24Speaker 1: You know, 20 UNC team top 10 if they win tomorrow.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Win or lose.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Yeah, they're going to be a ranked opponent.
- 30:33Speaker 1: That would be a nice little win.
- 30:35Speaker 3: That's what you're looking for for UVA Something to hang your hat on to look towards the future.
- 30:40Speaker 3: A bull.
- 30:40Speaker 3: I hate to say, but a bull birth seems really unlikely.
- 30:44Speaker 3: So let's try and find some things and getting a big win.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Let's see it and keep building on this offense.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Keep building on this offense.
- 30:50Speaker 3: So good for the Wahoo who's getting their first win.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Last one Virginia Tech, wake Forest.
- 30:54Speaker 3: I think Wake is a one point favorite, but I think it's moved.
- 30:56Speaker 3: I think you can now get Tech is favorite.
- 30:58Speaker 3: I think it's moved a whole lot.
- 31:00Speaker 3: This is a very winnable games homecoming.
- 31:02Speaker 3: It is the maroon effect.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Mike and I were there for the orange effect If you were paying attention.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Just run the crap out of the ball.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Wake Forest does not have a great run defense and this is obviously continues to be what Brent Prime wants to do.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Kyron drones tooting.
- 31:17Speaker 3: There's patchwork offensive line 60 carries, whatever it took, whatever it took to beat pit.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Just keep doing it, and not only because they want to keep Wake Forest's offense off this, off the sideline.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Which way forces got pretty good offense.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Keep the tech defense off the sideline.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Tech defense is not play well this year.
- 31:33Speaker 3: So this game for me is going to be Virginia Tech's ability to just hold the ball, run it a lot and control the clock as much as possible.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a rare, even even matchup for Virginia Tech.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I mean, this is like you said, it's a very winnable game.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Clemson put up, I think, over 200.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Yards on the ground against Wake Forest.
- 31:54Speaker 1: That's your blueprint and that plays right into the strengths for drones and Virginia Tech Run the ball, keep it on the ground, play smart, don't turn the ball all over.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Get that crowd in it and I think they can, they can kind of squeeze the life out of this one and take over.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so too.
- 32:26Speaker 3: I think this is.
- 32:27Speaker 3: This is very this is very winnable.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Just got to take care of business, so good on that.
- 32:32Speaker 3: All right, I think that is the.
- 32:34Speaker 3: That's a wrap on week six.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Prepping on week seven.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Very excited for what's going to come in, what's coming down the chute.
