- 0:00Speaker 1: Last week. Is this an email of interest?
- 0:03Speaker 2: Yeah? In track.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Uh, we did an next poll recently and we asked,
- 0:11Speaker 1: you know, what kind of weird thing do you have
- 0:13Speaker 1: in your house that a lot of other people wouldn't have.
- 0:17Speaker 1: And I don't know if we still have the picture, Katie,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I don't know. We should have the Colonel Sanders, Colonel
- 0:22Speaker 1: Sanders statue. This so this guy, uh said, he said,
- 0:27Speaker 1: I couldn't participate in the ex pool, but he sent
- 0:30Speaker 1: a picture. He said, this is what I have and
- 0:32Speaker 1: it's a statue of Colonel Sanders and it looks to
- 0:36Speaker 1: be life size in his house. And we said, how.
- 0:40Speaker 2: How we need more information?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Well, yeah, he has now sent more information. He says,
- 0:45Speaker 1: here's the story of how I came into possession of
- 0:48Speaker 1: the statue of the KFC icon. It's a little long,
- 0:52Speaker 1: so you may have to condense it for time restrictions.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Back in the sixties, when I was five years old,
- 0:57Speaker 1: my parents took on a KFC franchise. I had no
- 1:00Speaker 1: daycare at the time, so they took me to work
- 1:02Speaker 1: with them. The statue was right in front of the
- 1:05Speaker 1: entrance to Greek customers with a bucket of fake chicken. Well,
- 1:09Speaker 1: my parents moved on to several other locations. Over time,
- 1:12Speaker 1: they were able to take the Colonel with them. It's
- 1:14Speaker 1: always been in our home growing up in the basement.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Then they put it in the backyard for decoration. Years
- 1:20Speaker 1: went by. Fifteen years ago my parents sold the home
- 1:22Speaker 1: I grew up in. My mom asked, you want to
- 1:24Speaker 1: take the statue, and I said, well, yes, of course
- 1:28Speaker 1: I do.
- 1:28Speaker 2: My childhood.
- 1:29Speaker 1: After a lifetime of KFC, I worked there with mom
- 1:32Speaker 1: and dad. When I turned fourteen, life moved on, and
- 1:34Speaker 1: so did I. I found new jobs an industrial painter.
- 1:39Speaker 1: To what I am now, I am Mikey, whom emailed
- 1:42Speaker 1: you in the past to say thank you for letting
- 1:44Speaker 1: my daughter, my girlfriend, and I come to see the
- 1:46Speaker 1: show in person. On that day you asked me. You said,
- 1:50Speaker 1: excuse me, sir, what do you do for a living?
- 1:51Speaker 1: And I said I was a welder, And you asked
- 1:54Speaker 1: me back then if the company I worked for had
- 1:56Speaker 1: any issue with my black painted fingernails. To this day,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I still get manny petties and I still get them
- 2:02Speaker 1: painted black. I wrote to you about my daughter passing
- 2:07Speaker 1: away due to diabetes ten years ago. I also told
- 2:10Speaker 1: you that I have cancer again after losing a kidney,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and I'm still fighting everything the best I can. Oh man,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I still work, I go to treatments, and by the way,
- 2:20Speaker 1: you can let Kerry know that I'm not a redneck
- 2:22Speaker 1: as he thought seeing the beer can on the floor concerned.
