- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five Whistles talking basketball,
- 0:08Speaker 1: and they are winning a whistle. So yeah, it's too bad,
- 0:11Speaker 1: But what did you expect? It's a podcast called twenty
- 0:15Speaker 1: five Whistles. What's up? Everybody? Brought to you by Draft
- 0:20Speaker 1: Kings Sports book. Download the Draft King zapp used to
- 0:23Speaker 1: code Bobby sports to get in on the action. What
- 0:27Speaker 1: number whistle is this? It is fifty six fifty six,
- 0:33Speaker 1: episode fifty six. A lot of whistles. Ye, well, we're
- 0:36Speaker 1: only doing twenty five and now we're fifty six fifty
- 0:39Speaker 1: six and this is the next last episode of Eddie. Yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I know I'm feeling that it's getting it to say goodbye? Yeah?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Is that the music too? It is not. It's wondering
- 0:53Speaker 1: what's that music we can use? It's boys again? You
- 0:58Speaker 1: realize boys? All right, let's get going with the tittle
- 1:01Speaker 1: tattle here the tattle, Bobby. Do you think the unknown
- 1:13Speaker 1: and underdogs has made this tournament better or worse? This
- 1:17Speaker 1: has been one of the most entertaining tournments I've ever
- 1:19Speaker 1: seen him a whole life. Yeah, by far, it's been better.
- 1:22Speaker 1: You're gonna hear people say, uh, the teams that nobody
- 1:25Speaker 1: knows they're not making for good ratings. I don't care
- 1:27Speaker 1: about network issues, you know. I'll watch unless the game
- 1:32Speaker 1: gets out of hand and I'll turn it off. I
- 1:33Speaker 1: don't really care about the teams that much. I mean,
- 1:35Speaker 1: if I'm not betting on them, I don't care anymore.
- 1:38Speaker 1: But it's been awesome. It has been the greatest single
- 1:41Speaker 1: lindsay double a tournament I've ever seen with my own eyeballs,
- 1:44Speaker 1: so it has made it better for me. That doesn't
- 1:46Speaker 1: mean the final four is gonna be better, but I
- 1:48Speaker 1: think overall, once it's over, regardless of what happens in
- 1:50Speaker 1: the next three games to Final four, the one championship,
- 1:54Speaker 1: this is the best tournament I've ever seen. Even if
- 1:56Speaker 1: all three games suck from here out, it's the best
- 1:59Speaker 1: A plus, that's what I've ever seen the end. Eddie
- 2:01Speaker 1: agreed to disagree. I agree. I think it's so cool.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I Have I ever cared about Xavier before in my life?
- 2:06Speaker 1: Have I ever cared about Gonzaga? No, But if they're good,
- 2:09Speaker 1: I watch them. I love when Cinderella's beat the Giants,
- 2:14Speaker 1: when David beats Goliath, like that's what happens. That's what's
- 2:17Speaker 1: so cool about any college team has a chance to
- 2:20Speaker 1: win this whole thing. And dude, we're in the final
- 2:22Speaker 1: four and two of these schools I didn't see play
- 2:24Speaker 1: this year or last year. There are no top three seats.
- 2:27Speaker 1: There's one four and that's Connecticut. And so again, that's
- 2:31Speaker 1: cool to watch those teams beat the big dogs. So cool.
- 2:33Speaker 1: You mentioned teams though that really I've always been the
- 2:36Speaker 1: big dogs. He was like, I love when Gonzaga went, well,
- 2:38Speaker 1: they make the Elite eight. What I'm saying is like
- 2:41Speaker 1: I would never care about Gonzaga ever, or Xavier or
- 2:44Speaker 1: Saint Mary's still don't. But when we see him in
- 2:47Speaker 1: the final four in the championship all the time, it's
- 2:49Speaker 1: just like that's called. It's all good. It's fine, you
- 2:51Speaker 1: know what I mean. But none of those teams made
- 2:52Speaker 1: the championship. No, I'm just saying every year, but like
- 2:56Speaker 1: every year you would think North Carolina Duke Right, Okay,
- 2:59Speaker 1: can you that have been a different story. You just
- 3:00Speaker 1: mentioned some weirder teams for that argument, because this is
- 3:03Speaker 1: like who's fa u I in Florida Atlantic. I never
- 3:06Speaker 1: agree with when you say Gonzaga and Xavier that came
- 3:09Speaker 1: in as a three seed, but there was a time
- 3:10Speaker 1: when Gonzaga was unheard of. There was when was that
- 3:15Speaker 1: six years ago, seven years ten years ago? Okay, anyway,
- 3:19Speaker 1: that was a time like a kid and a kid
- 3:21Speaker 1: he say, okay, count of three year old, count to
- 3:24Speaker 1: four and they go, one banana, crocodile. Four. My son
- 3:30Speaker 1: does that? Did you go? That's that's the right order. Okay,
- 3:35Speaker 1: you got to four, But what you said in the
- 3:36Speaker 1: middle of that wasn't right. So do it again. Count
- 3:39Speaker 1: to four, one shoe string. You know what I'm saying,
- 3:47Speaker 1: not four. So I yeah, the Marquette, let's go Marquete
- 3:53Speaker 1: for example, it's still the most entertaining. It's just the
- 3:55Speaker 1: meat in your sandwich was really weird. That's all you
- 3:58Speaker 1: get my point? I do, But I just had a
- 4:01Speaker 1: problem with how you with my example. You used it. Yes,
- 4:04Speaker 1: it's been a great would your great ken? Yeah? I
- 4:05Speaker 1: love it, I absolutely love it. All right. Next up,
- 4:07Speaker 1: do you think Yukon should be in the blue blood
- 4:09Speaker 1: discussion in college basketball? You know, I would have thought
- 4:12Speaker 1: maybe they already were a little bit, and I know
- 4:14Speaker 1: they're not. They're not officially considered one. I looked up
- 4:18Speaker 1: to history of the blue blood name so It was
- 4:20Speaker 1: used back in the twenties when talking about it like
- 4:22Speaker 1: the class of certain programs, and then and I didn't
- 4:26Speaker 1: know this, this is me looking it up. And then
- 4:28Speaker 1: the forties and fifties it was consistently used. It's a
- 4:31Speaker 1: class thing, especially in sports. And if you google blue
- 4:34Speaker 1: blood basketball schools, this is who comes up. Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana,
- 4:39Speaker 1: and UCLA. Oh, so they are considered the blue bloods.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I would consider now, if you're doing a blue blood
- 4:46Speaker 1: update every decade, once a decade, we should update the
- 4:49Speaker 1: blue blood list. It's hard to get on, but some
- 4:53Speaker 1: people do deserve passage into it. Yukon, Yeah, I think so.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I put them in that they're right on the edge,
- 5:01Speaker 1: but it's the edge of like the greatest programs ever
- 5:04Speaker 1: since Yukon won a title in ninety nine, none of
- 5:05Speaker 1: the traditional blue bloods have won more titles in the
- 5:07Speaker 1: Huskies and only North Carolina has been more final fours.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So again, if we're we're not updating every year, we're
- 5:12Speaker 1: looking at a body of work, I would say, yes,
- 5:16Speaker 1: the Yukon should be. I can see two or three
- 5:20Speaker 1: their head coaches with my eyes just by closing my eyes. Yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I can see great play. Yes, I say yes. The
- 5:27Speaker 1: crazy thing is UCLA and they should be. But they
- 5:30Speaker 1: want all their titles so long ago. They beat Arkansas
- 5:34Speaker 1: ninety five, I know that one, but I mean all
- 5:37Speaker 1: of those championships are the you know, lu As Sender
- 5:41Speaker 1: are the you can go down all those great players.
- 5:44Speaker 1: But for sure they're a blue blood. Duke absolutely, North Carolina, Kansas. Yes,
- 5:52Speaker 1: dominating basketball, yes for a long long but I'm gonna
- 5:55Speaker 1: say not like Duke. And there's there's even classes in
- 5:57Speaker 1: the blue bloods. I think I'm gonna go. Class one
- 6:01Speaker 1: is Kentucky Duke North Carolina of the blue Bloods. Class
- 6:08Speaker 1: two is UCLA Kansas in Indiana. Oh wow, you wouldn't
- 6:10Speaker 1: put Kansas in one. Wow. Like, aren't there rules in
- 6:13Speaker 1: basketball at the University of Kansas? It doesn't matter, Okay,
- 6:17Speaker 1: I don't care who made up the rules. They started Smith,
- 6:21Speaker 1: but football was started in Canada. Does that mean Canada
- 6:24Speaker 1: is the king Dangling of football? No? Okay, no exactly.
- 6:30Speaker 1: They will say something like that they're all blue bloods,
- 6:32Speaker 1: and I guess I don't know why. It's just something
- 6:37Speaker 1: about Kansas. Maybe they just they're just like friendly and
- 6:41Speaker 1: goofy and fun and nobody like I hate the other
- 6:44Speaker 1: schools because they always feel like they win. I know
- 6:47Speaker 1: Kansas one last year, but it's a pure feeling. I
- 6:49Speaker 1: don't hate Kansas and a school that wins all the
- 6:52Speaker 1: time I should hate. Do you think if they just
- 6:54Speaker 1: beat you guys this year you would hate them? Well,
- 6:56Speaker 1: we've been in a football and basketball That's what I'm saying.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But no, I don't. I didn't even hate him when
- 7:01Speaker 1: we're playing them. So for me, I feel my feeling
- 7:04Speaker 1: because Duke in North Carolina kick Rocks Indiana has a
- 7:09Speaker 1: one in forever, so like UCLA, I don't have a
- 7:13Speaker 1: hatred toward them. That's why I put them in that
- 7:15Speaker 1: second class. You never watched their games? Yeah, because they're
- 7:18Speaker 1: not on TV. I mean now everything's on, but it's
- 7:20Speaker 1: not like the But Kentucky, North Carolina and Duke, like
- 7:23Speaker 1: I have a negative feeling about because they win. I'm like, oh,
- 7:26Speaker 1: never root for that program against anybody, but Kansas, Indiana
- 7:30Speaker 1: and UCLA. I'm like, let's see what happens. All I Okay.
- 7:32Speaker 1: That's why I would separate them based off just my inwards.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Does that make sense to you yeah. Yeah. I mean,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I'm just thinking that's crazy because I always thought blue
- 7:41Speaker 1: bloods meant that they were blue because they were all
- 7:43Speaker 1: blue except Indiana. The color yeah, I thought Indiana kind
- 7:46Speaker 1: of throws it off. I was just like, wait, that
- 7:48Speaker 1: isn't I never once thought that. But I guess it's
- 7:50Speaker 1: just coincidence that they're blue bloods. I wonder if I'm
- 7:53Speaker 1: the idiot because I never thought that. That's what resignates
- 7:56Speaker 1: with my head for sure, So two against three, asked
- 7:58Speaker 1: Mike d No, I'm the idiot. I'll accept that that
- 8:00Speaker 1: maybe that was part of thee. But if they're talking
- 8:03Speaker 1: about no, you never mentioned that in your research. So
- 8:05Speaker 1: North Carolina, Kansas, Cote all blue, UCLA A light at
- 8:08Speaker 1: lighter blue. Yeah, but Yukon, Yes, I think they should
- 8:12Speaker 1: be considered now to be put in the blue blood class.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Next question, which program making their first Final Four appearance?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Do you have the most confidence in winning? FAU San
- 8:19Speaker 1: Diego State or Miami winning the title? To clarify good,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know, and I looked at the odds to give
- 8:27Speaker 1: me an advantage here because I don't really know anything
- 8:30Speaker 1: about these schools as far as watching an occasional game
- 8:32Speaker 1: I don't watch FAU all year. I watched Miami a
- 8:35Speaker 1: little bit. I saw San Diego State because Arkansas played them.
- 8:38Speaker 1: They played in the mauition, so I watched them more
- 8:41Speaker 1: than one. I watched them before we played them. I've
- 8:45Speaker 1: never had faith in Miami. They've continued to prove me wrong.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I don't know anything about FAU. I got three hundred
- 8:53Speaker 1: bucks in on San Diego State, so there you go.
- 8:56Speaker 1: They're also the odds, but the odds, it's not a
- 8:58Speaker 1: big separation like San Diego States plus four hundred. Miami's
- 9:01Speaker 1: plus four fifty. So I'm gonna go with San Diego State.
- 9:04Speaker 1: But I'm gonna base it off nothing except what I've seen.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So not even a fair answer, because I don't think
- 9:08Speaker 1: any of them will win. I think the blue blood
- 9:10Speaker 1: of Yukon will win. They win the title. Just put
- 9:13Speaker 1: him in there if Yukon wins it again. Next question,
- 9:16Speaker 1: going to the NFL here quietly making a lot of
- 9:19Speaker 1: key offseason additions. Do you think the Panthers are the
- 9:21Speaker 1: favorite in the NFC? South Panthers out Adam Feelin and
- 9:25Speaker 1: that's fun to hear, but he was released, so then
- 9:29Speaker 1: it takes it a little of it away. It's like
- 9:30Speaker 1: if you got look, I'm a new girlfriend. Wow, when'd
- 9:32Speaker 1: you guys? Boy? You got dumb by this dude, so
- 9:34Speaker 1: I took her. That's kind of what it feels like.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And even though she's hot, you're like, yeah, but you
- 9:41Speaker 1: wouldn't have her if the other dude didn't dump her,
- 9:43Speaker 1: So why you bragging? That's kind of what it feels
- 9:45Speaker 1: like to me with Adam Feeland, although I love Adam Dealan,
- 9:49Speaker 1: he plays, but he goes hard Hayden Hurst with the Panthers,
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know they have Miles Sanders now that they'll get
- 9:56Speaker 1: the number one pick, but I don't know that the
- 9:58Speaker 1: number one pick of the take a quarterback is going
- 9:59Speaker 1: to make them a favorite in a conference because regardless
- 10:03Speaker 1: of how good a rookie is, rarely do they ever
- 10:07Speaker 1: come in and just make a significant difference, at least
- 10:10Speaker 1: like the first half of the year. I mean, looks
- 10:13Speaker 1: look at even this last year. What rookie quarterback Kevin
- 10:16Speaker 1: would you say actually influenced their team record the most?
- 10:20Speaker 1: I have my answer, but you're a lot smarter than me. Sometimes.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Go ahead. The first name that pops into my head
- 10:25Speaker 1: would be Kenny Pickett, that's exactly what I wrote down. Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 1: so I wrote down Kenny Pickett two because he came
- 10:29Speaker 1: in after Trubisky was benched and he stayed in and
- 10:33Speaker 1: they won games and they almost made the playoffs. So same,
- 10:38Speaker 1: it wasn't great, right And at the same time, they
- 10:41Speaker 1: didn't make the playoffs yea. And he obviously didn't start
- 10:44Speaker 1: for a reason because he wasn't ready. Yeah, so with that,
- 10:49Speaker 1: it's hard for me to say that, yes, the Panthers
- 10:51Speaker 1: are going to be the favorite without a quarterback, regardless
- 10:54Speaker 1: of who they get. Now, let's look down through the conference.
- 10:57Speaker 1: The Saints have Derek Carr and Jamal Williams. You love that,
- 11:00Speaker 1: do Derek Carr. I'm here, baby, let's go. I'm gonna
- 11:02Speaker 1: get in it and drive it. We're going. Is that?
- 11:07Speaker 1: I think the Saints trending up the Falcons. They still
- 11:11Speaker 1: could get Lamar. I think Lamar's one of the teams,
- 11:15Speaker 1: the Colts, the Falcons, the Belichick, you know, maybe the Patriots. Yeah,
- 11:27Speaker 1: if you've seen that, yep, somebody tweeted that though, Yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 1: a couple of people. That's where I saw it. Somebody
- 11:33Speaker 1: tweeted that they're talking to Lamar. No, that he wanted
- 11:38Speaker 1: or the Patriots should like one of the Patriot guys
- 11:40Speaker 1: I think, tweeted, hey should think about Lamar something like
- 11:43Speaker 1: they I'll find it. And then the Buccaneers. I like
- 11:46Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield. I think he's gonna go and be gritty
- 11:48Speaker 1: down there. I don't think they're gonna win thirteen games.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But even with all that, it's still a really weak division.
- 11:56Speaker 1: If I'm gonna pick the winner, it's not gonna be
- 11:58Speaker 1: the Falcons right now. I'm gonna limited them in me.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So like the Buccaneers will be a bit healthier. A
- 12:04Speaker 1: lot of injuries last year, are they Are they keeping
- 12:07Speaker 1: their receiving corps? Julio's gone? But yeah, and I weren't
- 12:11Speaker 1: even counting him. Mike Evans, I mean you said the Saints, No,
- 12:17Speaker 1: the Bucks, the Buck. I was gonna talk about the Saints,
- 12:20Speaker 1: about something else. But when you're on the bus, like
- 12:22Speaker 1: Mike Evans playing for the Saints, what planet? No, While
- 12:24Speaker 1: you're on the Bucks, I'm thinking, like, Okay, I mean
- 12:25Speaker 1: that receiving course stays, it could be pretty good. The
- 12:28Speaker 1: offensive line will still be pretty good. I'm gonna go
- 12:31Speaker 1: with the Buccaneers with Baker Mayfield. So I'm gonna go Bucks, Saints, Panthers, Falcons.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I just think the Saints have an actual quarterback, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: that's why I'm gonna put him second, because if you're
- 12:47Speaker 1: tied in anything, go to the quarterback. And the Panthers
- 12:51Speaker 1: are gonna have a rookie. The Falcons are gonna have Hinek,
- 12:53Speaker 1: except they're not gonna start Hinikey. I'll be honest with you.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, let me take that back. They
- 12:58Speaker 1: might start Hineky if Lamar doesn't. I shouldn't say that.
- 13:00Speaker 1: In the He's that clip against Synicky is bad, you know, awesome.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Heinik is awesomely terrible. Yeah, but he just fights. Yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 1: I like him. Yeah, he definitely would give you a
- 13:10Speaker 1: four pit game though, for sure. Oh yeah, yeah, that's
- 13:13Speaker 1: all right, next game, Next question. Do you think Lamar
- 13:15Speaker 1: Jackson is only hurting himself by defending himself on Twitter
- 13:18Speaker 1: with his injury history? Yeah, I think you don't need
- 13:24Speaker 1: to defend yourself. I think you can let that say.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I think you can go and say thanks to the fans.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'd like a trade. I don't think you need to
- 13:29Speaker 1: defend yourself. That means you're feeling defensive. If you need
- 13:32Speaker 1: to defend. I don't think you have to present from
- 13:34Speaker 1: a place of defense right now. He'd posted highlights of
- 13:38Speaker 1: last season prior to getting hurt, and we were talking
- 13:40Speaker 1: about him here like awesome he was. But again, he's
- 13:42Speaker 1: been hurt a lot over the last couple few years.
- 13:44Speaker 1: He's just a lot of games. You know, they're whispers
- 13:48Speaker 1: that he wouldn't have had to miss all those games
- 13:50Speaker 1: last year if he'd really sucked it up. But I
- 13:52Speaker 1: get it. Do you want to go out and suck
- 13:53Speaker 1: if it's a contract year and you don't feel like
- 13:54Speaker 1: it's going right, you want to go out and play
- 13:56Speaker 1: horrible and cost yourself fifty million dollars if you're not
- 13:59Speaker 1: fully healthy. If he's fully healthy, you gotta play. If
- 14:02Speaker 1: he's ninety percent healthy, you gotta play. If he's sixty
- 14:04Speaker 1: three percent healthy, and he probably could scrape it together
- 14:06Speaker 1: and play, but you're in a contract year. You gotta
- 14:08Speaker 1: make a business decision. Yeah, And if you can't win
- 14:11Speaker 1: games and you can't actually perform to the level, that's
- 14:14Speaker 1: gonna let you perform to that level to make money
- 14:16Speaker 1: for your family and their kids and their kids forever.
- 14:18Speaker 1: When you you have to stop you're eighty percent you play.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Obviously we don't know, but I love this story. More later.
- 14:27Speaker 1: One more question. After meeting with multiple teams this week
- 14:30Speaker 1: at the owners meeting, do you think O'Dell will sign
- 14:32Speaker 1: with a team before the draft? No? No, Locale, no
- 14:35Speaker 1: crep No, I don't know, too damaged. I don't know.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Does he want money? Does not want money? Does he
- 14:40Speaker 1: want to play with winner? Does he not want to
- 14:41Speaker 1: play with the winner? Does he want money? And with
- 14:43Speaker 1: money he'll not play with the winner? Will he take
- 14:45Speaker 1: less guaranteed money and money but to play with the winner?
- 14:48Speaker 1: You just hear every story. I don't know. That's not
- 14:50Speaker 1: who I am. Just tell me when it's done with Odell.
- 14:53Speaker 1: It's interesting, But you're talking about a person who's just tears.
- 14:58Speaker 1: He's at two ACL injuries and you know that personal
- 15:01Speaker 1: experience your dog. Yeah, well he's I know, I'm gonna
- 15:11Speaker 1: guess no if he does, I honestly don't care. He's
- 15:15Speaker 1: not even good enough for us to spend as much
- 15:16Speaker 1: time about. He's just so interesting. It's because yeah, it do. Yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 1: so Beckham Junior. We care about him more than we
- 15:22Speaker 1: do how good he actually is? That's the tittle tattle.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Think you're the tattle. All right, We're gonna go and
- 15:34Speaker 1: talk to Stanford Steve. What's funny about this interview is,
- 15:38Speaker 1: and you guys know, if you listen to this or
- 15:40Speaker 1: listen to me do anything. I don't really have this
- 15:42Speaker 1: big broadcast type voice or I don't act like a broadcaster.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I just talk like a talk whenever I'm talking with people.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And so I started talking to him we're on, and
- 15:52Speaker 1: he's just like talking back, but he's like having a drink,
- 15:54Speaker 1: look at his phone, and I'm like, I guess, oh, bro,
- 15:57Speaker 1: don't care about the interview, and so we just keep talking.
- 16:00Speaker 1: But he did care about it. He just didn't think
- 16:01Speaker 1: we were on. And he was like, hey, wait, we're
- 16:05Speaker 1: going yeah, man, we're been going man. Yeah, So that's
- 16:10Speaker 1: that was funny. It's funny to me and Stanford Steve
- 16:13Speaker 1: follow him at Stanford Steve eighty two on Instagram. I'm
- 16:17Speaker 1: a big fan him and SVP. You know they do
- 16:20Speaker 1: bad beats they do. Where isn't Scott Van pelt Um
- 16:24Speaker 1: follow him on his socials And it's just like betting,
- 16:27Speaker 1: like he's known for betting. So do you feel an
- 16:29Speaker 1: extra pressure to be right? I feel a pressure to
- 16:31Speaker 1: be right. I'm not even known for betting. I don't
- 16:34Speaker 1: want to give somebody bad advice, but everybody knows I'm
- 16:36Speaker 1: just guessing too. I can't actually control the players, although
- 16:40Speaker 1: when Eddie hits me with those for sures, I do
- 16:42Speaker 1: feel I'm mad at him when he misses, Yeah, even
- 16:44Speaker 1: though I know there's no such thing as that for sure,
- 16:46Speaker 1: and I've stopped doing them for shooters. Yeah, but you
- 16:47Speaker 1: should do them more though, because you reckon on for sure?
- 16:50Speaker 1: Is it's pretty good? Yeah? All right? Here he is
- 16:52Speaker 1: Stanford Steve, Hey, big fan, thanks for coming on. Man, Hey,
- 16:56Speaker 1: what's going on? Bro? Oh are you? I'm really good.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I was super pumped when I saw that I was
- 17:00Speaker 1: get to talk to you, mostly because it's been crazy
- 17:03Speaker 1: to me over the last few years. How it was
- 17:05Speaker 1: kind of seen like betting and talking about betting or
- 17:08Speaker 1: mentioning a line anywhere that more than ten people could
- 17:12Speaker 1: hear or see you. I was like, oh, don't do that,
- 17:13Speaker 1: And now what is this? This massive? Everybody wants to
- 17:17Speaker 1: talk about it, and here you are, and you've kind of,
- 17:19Speaker 1: you know, cornered or had the market cornered for a
- 17:21Speaker 1: little bit. Isn't it crazy to see how much this
- 17:23Speaker 1: has grown in two years? Yeah? Yeah, the the money
- 17:29Speaker 1: thrown around is kind of crazy, but it's uh, it's
- 17:35Speaker 1: I yeah, from from what you've done, Yes, for sure.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Like I started in radio and it was kind of
- 17:42Speaker 1: always looked down upon and stuff like that. But when
- 17:46Speaker 1: I look at what like it was just always something
- 17:48Speaker 1: that I looked at when I was doing my analysis
- 17:51Speaker 1: of say college football, you know like that, it's just that,
- 17:55Speaker 1: that's what it was. I was at a charity event
- 17:58Speaker 1: and I was speaking, and it was a deal where we're,
- 18:01Speaker 1: you know, trying to help this community raise money for
- 18:03Speaker 1: a bunch of kids that needed a gym and food.
- 18:06Speaker 1: And I was sitting with a pastor and he was like, Hey,
- 18:09Speaker 1: what's the line I swear to you. I I'm not exaggerating.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And it was one of those full circle moments where
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's like, Okay, betting is now not just something that
- 18:20Speaker 1: I enjoy and little nuances that I like to see
- 18:22Speaker 1: and and but it's like full pop culture where it's
- 18:25Speaker 1: not just like a sin if you're betting, I guess
- 18:28Speaker 1: because it's legal. And so that's what makes being able
- 18:31Speaker 1: to have this conversation so cool that a pastor asked
- 18:33Speaker 1: me a line for a game. And that's that's where
- 18:36Speaker 1: I'm different. I in the Northeast, I grew up going
- 18:39Speaker 1: to Saratoga bus trips with the pastor of the church.
- 18:44Speaker 1: So well in the South, in the rural South. Yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 1: I'm curious about kind of the genesis to bad Beats?
- 18:54Speaker 1: Where where that show at? We're starting right now? Oh yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 1: we'll oh yeah, we're on. Oh we're on yeah. Oh yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I don't have a good yeah. I don't have a
- 19:01Speaker 1: good voice, Steve. I don't have like a radio No.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I didn't know if there was like a three two
- 19:05Speaker 1: and one, all right go or all right, we're in it.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we're in it. That's that's one of my weakness,
- 19:10Speaker 1: is Steve, is that I don't really sound like somebody
- 19:11Speaker 1: good on the radio. I just talk. But same with you,
- 19:14Speaker 1: like you have a very natural presentation. And with bad
- 19:17Speaker 1: Yeah we're on, we're on, right yeah? With bad bad beats?
- 19:23Speaker 1: Where did that come from? Did somebody have a really
- 19:26Speaker 1: bad beat? And they're like, this has got to be
- 19:27Speaker 1: a reality show and then it turns into this what
- 19:29Speaker 1: happened there? No, that's uh, that's that's a question. I
- 19:32Speaker 1: gets asked a lot, and Scott deserves all the credit.
- 19:35Speaker 1: We started old radio show Sep and Marcilo. You know
- 19:40Speaker 1: mid Day's back in back in uh twenty ten, I believe.
- 19:45Speaker 1: And you know, Scott and I got together because you know,
- 19:50Speaker 1: I was Ryan's producer for college Game Day and on
- 19:53Speaker 1: radio side, so we would travel everywhere with game Day.
- 19:56Speaker 1: We come back Monday, Ryan would do the show with
- 19:58Speaker 1: Scott for their Monday through Friday. We would go in
- 20:00Speaker 1: pre show meeting bs about the whole game, you know, games,
- 20:03Speaker 1: what happened this week. And then when I took over,
- 20:06Speaker 1: Scott wanted to try Bad Beats on the radio and
- 20:10Speaker 1: we did it. We got emails, I mean, everybody was
- 20:12Speaker 1: in on it. It just didn't resonate because you need
- 20:17Speaker 1: the video, you need the footage, right, And that's what
- 20:20Speaker 1: I like, I said, I give Scott all the credit
- 20:22Speaker 1: because when we came over to TV, He's like, Hey,
- 20:24Speaker 1: you're coming with me. I'm doing my own Sports Center show.
- 20:27Speaker 1: We're doing Bad Beats. You're gonna be at the desk
- 20:29Speaker 1: And I'm like, what are you talking about. I've never
- 20:32Speaker 1: done a second of TV in my life before. And sure, enough,
- 20:37Speaker 1: we go out. I'll never forget the first night it's
- 20:40Speaker 1: Labor Day. We follow Ohio State Virginia Tech. It's that,
- 20:43Speaker 1: you know, Labor Day college football game, Scott's first show,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and our pre show meetings like, all right, what are
- 20:49Speaker 1: we gonna do for this? And we dig up? Man,
- 20:52Speaker 1: it was Colorado State. I think it's Savannah State. We
- 20:56Speaker 1: didn't even have the feed of the game. We web
- 20:59Speaker 1: scraped it from Colorado State's website and that was our
- 21:03Speaker 1: first bad beat. But it's a team that was down
- 21:05Speaker 1: by forty five getting forty one, and they haven't scored
- 21:09Speaker 1: all day, and they get this drive where they fumble,
- 21:12Speaker 1: recover penalty in their favor, and miraculously score against Colorado
- 21:17Speaker 1: State's fifth stringers, and boom, there we go and it
- 21:20Speaker 1: takes off and it resonates because everybody's had one, right,
- 21:25Speaker 1: everybody's had multiple. I had Wisconsin the other night. I
- 21:28Speaker 1: had an unbelievable I was out in Vegas for the
- 21:31Speaker 1: Elite A. I had an unbelievable weekend. I'm leaving Tuesday night,
- 21:34Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, I'm going to test my waters
- 21:36Speaker 1: and take it over in a Wisconsin game. And sure enough,
- 21:39Speaker 1: they go score it, So the last nine and a
- 21:41Speaker 1: half minutes and I that's I had my I think
- 21:44Speaker 1: I went thirteen and No, that would have made me
- 21:46Speaker 1: thirteen and two. I went twelve and three on the weekend.
- 21:49Speaker 1: But everybody has it because they stick with you. They
- 21:53Speaker 1: when you're when you're gambling. As much as you know
- 21:56Speaker 1: people do, there's ones that just stick out and when
- 22:01Speaker 1: you're in the moment, you know what, what can beat
- 22:04Speaker 1: me here? What do I have to get to to
- 22:07Speaker 1: get to win here? Whether it's a total or a
- 22:09Speaker 1: right side. So I just think everybody's experienced it in
- 22:14Speaker 1: that gambling side. But the other crazy thing is we
- 22:17Speaker 1: get so many notes now in social media. It's like
- 22:20Speaker 1: I don't gamble, but I still can't get it over
- 22:23Speaker 1: that happen in bad beats. Why do you do it?
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'm like, well, that's another conversation because you gotta be
- 22:27Speaker 1: sick in the head to lay a couple of shekels
- 22:30Speaker 1: on the game. But sometimes that's what makes it fun
- 22:34Speaker 1: when you're talking about that Vegas show because I was
- 22:36Speaker 1: in Vegas two for the Sweet sixteen in the Elite
- 22:37Speaker 1: eight because I went to watch ARSAA. Yeah, I want
- 22:39Speaker 1: to watch argknsas play. It wasn't not it was not pretty.
- 22:41Speaker 1: But I lost every game. I don't know what You
- 22:43Speaker 1: must know a lot more than I do, because I
- 22:45Speaker 1: seem to lose every freaking game that whole weekend because
- 22:49Speaker 1: they all were coming out of nowhere. I felt, so,
- 22:51Speaker 1: what's what's the magic secret here? Then what I try
- 22:55Speaker 1: and do is when the bracket comes out, I'll fill
- 22:58Speaker 1: one out, okay right away, and then I'll just have
- 23:02Speaker 1: that as a basis. But what I also try and
- 23:05Speaker 1: do is go against what I think the public's gonna
- 23:08Speaker 1: be so perfect example, I go up to the Big
- 23:11Speaker 1: East Tournament the week before, you know that, that conference
- 23:15Speaker 1: tournament week, and I watch Marquette and I'm like, wow,
- 23:19Speaker 1: you know, pretty impressive. Everybody's on them. They ended up
- 23:21Speaker 1: winning the tournament, beat Yukon, beat you know, role Xavier
- 23:26Speaker 1: in the in the title game, and I'm like, that's
- 23:27Speaker 1: a team on a goal against. Because I think everybody
- 23:30Speaker 1: sees the Big East Tournament, bright lights, big city, great conference.
- 23:34Speaker 1: But I just Thursday more, Thursday afternoon, I'm there. Saint
- 23:39Speaker 1: John's has the ball in the air twice at the
- 23:41Speaker 1: end of regulation, at the end of overtime, that ball
- 23:43Speaker 1: goes in, Marquette loses, and this whole narrative of the
- 23:46Speaker 1: Marquette's the hottest team in the country has gone. So
- 23:49Speaker 1: I saw that firsthand. I'm like, they are gettable. This
- 23:52Speaker 1: all this stuff is is a little bit of nonsense
- 23:55Speaker 1: to me because it is the NSA tournament. Look at
- 23:57Speaker 1: the final four. We have anybody compete, anybody stew What
- 24:00Speaker 1: I've done is try and go against that. Duke was
- 24:02Speaker 1: another one. I'm like, I watched the ACC Oh yeah,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I'm a Duke fan. They're not that good. I didn't
- 24:07Speaker 1: like the match up against Arl Roberts. I definitely didn't
- 24:09Speaker 1: like it if they got to Tennessee, so that happens
- 24:13Speaker 1: there now. Yukon was the one that I was in on,
- 24:17Speaker 1: but I had to see it first because that's a
- 24:20Speaker 1: coaching staff. I grew up there. I know what it's
- 24:23Speaker 1: all about. I know the pressure that was on that
- 24:25Speaker 1: coaching staff. Then they hadn't won an NCAA tournament game,
- 24:28Speaker 1: coming in as a staff at Yukon, going into a
- 24:31Speaker 1: sense A tournament and then look on the other side,
- 24:33Speaker 1: it's Rick Pattino, the best tournament coach there is, and
- 24:36Speaker 1: that was the game for me. Once they got by that,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I wrote Yukon the whole way through because they have everything.
- 24:43Speaker 1: They'll have a great point guard, but they have everything
- 24:45Speaker 1: you want. They come in at waves, they're superb physically,
- 24:48Speaker 1: they got bigs. They could defend their numbers. You know,
- 24:51Speaker 1: if you want to look at the analytics, efficiency wise, defensively, offensively,
- 24:55Speaker 1: they're great there. So that's what I just try and
- 24:57Speaker 1: go ahead. A lot of times it doesn't work out
- 24:59Speaker 1: and my thing is up in flames and it is
- 25:01Speaker 1: a bad march, and I'll scale back a little bit.
- 25:03Speaker 1: But when I started pressing, you know, I wasn't that
- 25:06Speaker 1: big on in the Sweet sixteen, I thought Alabama was
- 25:10Speaker 1: gettable by San Diego State because I looked at that road.
- 25:12Speaker 1: That was the last team I thought that could maybe
- 25:14Speaker 1: match up with them physically. Houston saw them in person
- 25:18Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago at East Carolina. Love them,
- 25:21Speaker 1: but I thought a couple of years ago they had
- 25:23Speaker 1: a better team, maybe even last year's team if they
- 25:25Speaker 1: had Sasser was better. They didn't blow me away, and
- 25:28Speaker 1: Miami was as dangerous there was, And Miami and Yukon
- 25:31Speaker 1: were the team that I wrote into the ground Sweet
- 25:33Speaker 1: sixteen and Elite eight, So we had a good weekend.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Do you feel like you're overwhelmingly positive this tournament? Yeah, yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 1: it's it's been a really really good one. Like I said,
- 25:47Speaker 1: the bad beach you remember, the good tournament you remember,
- 25:49Speaker 1: because there's not a lot of those, So it is.
- 25:52Speaker 1: It's been a really really good run of the last
- 25:55Speaker 1: whatever two three weeks. So yeah, it's it's been very positive.
- 25:58Speaker 1: A lot of my friends will be like, hey man,
- 26:01Speaker 1: you win all the time, and I'm like, bro, you
- 26:02Speaker 1: don't even know. I don't reach out and be like,
- 26:04Speaker 1: can you believe I lost this bet? And so there's
- 26:07Speaker 1: this mister, it's almost like a mystery. Oh he means
- 26:10Speaker 1: the greatest bet give her ever. Do you feel like
- 26:12Speaker 1: people feel like you win all the time even though
- 26:14Speaker 1: you have a bad beat show? Are they like Stanfords
- 26:16Speaker 1: you have all the answers? No, I do Daily Wager
- 26:19Speaker 1: show on ESPN, and uh, there's plenty of times when
- 26:23Speaker 1: when you're this is the other thing I say. If
- 26:25Speaker 1: you're telling me you bet three like NFL Sundays, right,
- 26:28Speaker 1: I don't. I don't. I have a big NFL guy.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I think it's the hardest thing in the world to handicap.
- 26:33Speaker 1: But if you're telling me you bet five NFL games
- 26:36Speaker 1: every Sunday for the year and you tell me you win,
- 26:39Speaker 1: I'll call you a liar. There's no way. I don't
- 26:42Speaker 1: see how you could do that. Um the volume, pick
- 26:47Speaker 1: your spots maybe, But when you're telling me you're betting
- 26:50Speaker 1: four or five games a day for an extended amount
- 26:54Speaker 1: of time, you got your you're building your own casino,
- 26:58Speaker 1: I would think, because that's that's the and those buildings
- 27:00Speaker 1: that that though, that that's where that money is. Uh,
- 27:03Speaker 1: And that's why those buildings are so win because they're
- 27:06Speaker 1: taking their shot that you are not going to do that,
- 27:08Speaker 1: and they get everybody else involved. So no, I do
- 27:12Speaker 1: not win all the time. It's been a good run
- 27:14Speaker 1: for sure. Do you feel pressure to be right though?
- 27:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah. I mean there's there's Scott and I do
- 27:20Speaker 1: all the time. He does winners on Thursday night. I
- 27:21Speaker 1: do a podcaster or in college football season and on
- 27:25Speaker 1: ESPN dot com where I give college football picks, and
- 27:28Speaker 1: you know, they move the timeline up. I think it
- 27:31Speaker 1: was like Wednesdays, we got to have it in by
- 27:33Speaker 1: and so they'll be sometimes like I'll come off of
- 27:36Speaker 1: a game, or I won't change it just because I
- 27:39Speaker 1: put my name on it. But those names, those picks
- 27:42Speaker 1: that have my name on it, I care about those
- 27:44Speaker 1: in any dollar amount I have on a game. Those
- 27:47Speaker 1: those are what people are coming at you about. Now.
- 27:51Speaker 1: You can't read all your social media or else you'll
- 27:53Speaker 1: lose your mind because it's a cesspool in a grounds
- 27:57Speaker 1: for negativity. But there is some good stuff out there,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and I appreciate the positive people because we can find
- 28:03Speaker 1: negative people anywhere. But um yeah, there is pressure. And
- 28:06Speaker 1: for sure, I mean they're putting you on because we've
- 28:09Speaker 1: done well. I've I've had a really really good run.
- 28:12Speaker 1: But um yeah, the pressure the games that I'm watching
- 28:15Speaker 1: or when I'm in the moment that I have my
- 28:17Speaker 1: name on it for a pick that you know, the
- 28:19Speaker 1: word they put the screen. Stavor Cea says, this is
- 28:22Speaker 1: his pick. Those are the ones that still get the
- 28:24Speaker 1: blood flowing and the itches going. For sure, what's the
- 28:27Speaker 1: longest Partlet you've hit how many games? Oh, I'm not
- 28:30Speaker 1: really a parlay guy. Um, like I that's the one
- 28:36Speaker 1: thing you've talked about with all this nuance in the
- 28:38Speaker 1: last two years. Like that that candy they throw out.
- 28:41Speaker 1: You know what they call the SGP, the single game play.
- 28:45Speaker 1: You couldn't have them. You can have them, it's hard
- 28:48Speaker 1: to scroll away, Like now I forgot which one I
- 28:51Speaker 1: logged in I got back from Vegas. I'm like, all right,
- 28:53Speaker 1: let me see what we got for Final four. I
- 28:55Speaker 1: think it was even Major League Baseball U dabbling in
- 28:58Speaker 1: that and I'm like, WHOA, I don't need a five
- 29:00Speaker 1: game a single game play the v opening day Major
- 29:04Speaker 1: League Baseball to get the day going. But a man
- 29:10Speaker 1: maybe like a three or four team or nothing, nothing crazy. Yeah,
- 29:13Speaker 1: I guess if you don't do them all the time,
- 29:15Speaker 1: like I'm I'm an idiot in about once every month
- 29:17Speaker 1: or so, you know you do like a night Well,
- 29:19Speaker 1: I I also eat up like the chum they're thrown
- 29:22Speaker 1: out where they're they'll retweet somebody to hit like for
- 29:25Speaker 1: a dollar a fourteen gamer and made a thousand bucks,
- 29:27Speaker 1: And I'm like, why not? What if I put five
- 29:30Speaker 1: or ten on it? But yeah, the eddie, do you
- 29:32Speaker 1: do a lot of parlays? I do? And my I
- 29:35Speaker 1: hear you talking about the NFL and I'm the dude
- 29:37Speaker 1: that picks every single NFL game from Thursday all the
- 29:41Speaker 1: way to Monday and put a dollar on it, and
- 29:43Speaker 1: I've never gotten close. Now here's here's what I'll say
- 29:47Speaker 1: about parlays. Okay, I grew up in an era or
- 29:51Speaker 1: an area of you. You've been on credit, right like
- 29:56Speaker 1: you You called your guy and you said, all right,
- 29:57Speaker 1: I want this. So it was kind of dangerous. And
- 30:02Speaker 1: I've seen you know, there's horror stories of people looking
- 30:05Speaker 1: for people to owe money. I will say with these apps,
- 30:08Speaker 1: and now with the youngsters, I see college kids firing
- 30:10Speaker 1: up on these parlis all the time. Their money's up,
- 30:13Speaker 1: you know, like they their money is paid and the
- 30:16Speaker 1: only way they're getting back is if they win. So
- 30:18Speaker 1: I will say, as far as like the gambling and
- 30:20Speaker 1: the problems and what it causes, that's that half of
- 30:23Speaker 1: that is gone because the money they put up is
- 30:26Speaker 1: already on the account, and therefore they can't lose more
- 30:30Speaker 1: than say calling your guy and losing and say all right,
- 30:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna double up on the next game that doesn't
- 30:35Speaker 1: come in. I'm gonna double up in the next game,
- 30:37Speaker 1: and then good luck fine to me if you can't fight,
- 30:39Speaker 1: if I don't hit any So that that that's the
- 30:42Speaker 1: one thing I will say is that the money is.
- 30:43Speaker 1: It's like going with the casino. Like you give your money,
- 30:46Speaker 1: you get your chips, all right. The only way to
- 30:48Speaker 1: get them back is your chips. You know, you put
- 30:49Speaker 1: your chips back in to get your money. So that's
- 30:51Speaker 1: the one thing I will say with these apps that
- 30:53Speaker 1: I think is refraining a lot of the problems for
- 30:57Speaker 1: gambling that we've heard about in the past. Yeah, I'd
- 30:59Speaker 1: spend time talking with political folks, governors, you know, they
- 31:06Speaker 1: had me lobbying a bit where I would go, hey, look,
- 31:10Speaker 1: it's not exactly the same as it used to be.
- 31:12Speaker 1: And also here's why it's beneficial. You gotta have a smartphone,
- 31:15Speaker 1: you gotta have an account, or you also got it.
- 31:17Speaker 1: So there are all these layers that it don't make
- 31:19Speaker 1: it perfect. It don't make it perfect, but it's not
- 31:22Speaker 1: the same as what it used to be. And I
- 31:23Speaker 1: would literally sit with governors and say, don't just say
- 31:26Speaker 1: no because people have always said no. And we're starting
- 31:30Speaker 1: to see a lot of states now legalize it. But
- 31:32Speaker 1: how it was on the ballot in California and did
- 31:34Speaker 1: not get passed, which blew me away. I can't I
- 31:38Speaker 1: can't believe it. I can't like I've I've talked I'm
- 31:41Speaker 1: the same way. I've had people approached me, but I've
- 31:43Speaker 1: had you know, political people, and they've they've gotten into
- 31:47Speaker 1: the point where they just bring say, let's who was
- 31:51Speaker 1: one of the first New Jersey, Like New Jersey came in.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Well the first of the month, they were posting like
- 31:56Speaker 1: multiple millions that they were making off gambly. I'm like,
- 31:59Speaker 1: what's wrong with free money? Who doesn't want free money?
- 32:02Speaker 1: And these states talk about the debt that they all have.
- 32:05Speaker 1: I'm like, here's here's maybe a little gradual help towards
- 32:08Speaker 1: that it's free money. You get the apps going, it's
- 32:11Speaker 1: a sign up a paper, and you've got money coming
- 32:13Speaker 1: in like crazy. And now you see all these states
- 32:16Speaker 1: posts and the earnings and the makings that they're winning
- 32:19Speaker 1: off a gamble. You're gonna sell cigarettes, but you're not
- 32:21Speaker 1: gonna let us put ten bucks on a game that
- 32:23Speaker 1: we already have the money in the account. Yes, it's
- 32:26Speaker 1: it's ridiculous. Hey, let's talk about the final four. Yeah,
- 32:29Speaker 1: it's odd, and you know, I don't think the ratings
- 32:31Speaker 1: are gonna be I said this as soon as it happened.
- 32:33Speaker 1: It's fun to watch the games as they happen, and
- 32:34Speaker 1: the small teams make the big wins. But then when
- 32:37Speaker 1: it gets to the big games and you're watching two
- 32:40Speaker 1: teams you never heard of it, that doesn't generate great ratings.
- 32:44Speaker 1: So that being said, at least I don't think it
- 32:46Speaker 1: will listen. I could be way wrong. But what do
- 32:49Speaker 1: you like in these two games here? Like me, give
- 32:50Speaker 1: me some some bets here. Yeah, it's it's tricky. Like
- 32:54Speaker 1: we talked about Miami and Yukon earlier. Those are two
- 32:57Speaker 1: teams and now they're playing against each other. And when
- 32:59Speaker 1: you look at the Yukon matchup, what you need is
- 33:02Speaker 1: guards to put on pressure of Yukon's cards, and Miami
- 33:06Speaker 1: has four guys they play now, they don't have a
- 33:09Speaker 1: lot of bigs. That that's the one thing. So to me,
- 33:12Speaker 1: it's about who's dictating tempo there because Miami wants to
- 33:15Speaker 1: pressure your guards get up and down, knowing they don't
- 33:18Speaker 1: have a lot of bigs, and whether it's hot or not,
- 33:20Speaker 1: from three, they're gonna shoot them. Um you know. Uh.
- 33:23Speaker 1: They they had made seven threes and they're winning gainst Houston.
- 33:26Speaker 1: That's basically what got them hot in the second half
- 33:29Speaker 1: and win that game. Ukon just feels like they come
- 33:31Speaker 1: in a way. Miami's not deep. They got one big
- 33:34Speaker 1: Amari that's are a Mere that's six seven, plays a
- 33:38Speaker 1: lot bigger than he is. But then I went back
- 33:40Speaker 1: and looked against Texas, there are other two six nine
- 33:45Speaker 1: guys combined to place for seven minutes. So I look
- 33:48Speaker 1: at Yukon. If they could dictate and not turn the
- 33:50Speaker 1: ball over. I do like them in this matchup. But
- 33:53Speaker 1: Miami's the wild card because when I look at the odds, like,
- 33:57Speaker 1: if you're gonna bet Miami to win, you're probably gonna
- 33:59Speaker 1: get what plus two one hundred on the money line
- 34:00Speaker 1: against Yukon, And I think they're gonna be favored no
- 34:03Speaker 1: matter who they play in the other games. So maybe
- 34:05Speaker 1: if you wanted a value player, you like Miami, bet
- 34:08Speaker 1: them to win the title. I think you get four
- 34:10Speaker 1: seventy five around there if you shop around in the
- 34:13Speaker 1: other game. I look at it's really interesting to me.
- 34:17Speaker 1: You said it. It's not the biggest name, But these
- 34:19Speaker 1: are two teams I watched a lot this year, knowing
- 34:22Speaker 1: the stories they were in Florida Atlantic's thirty five wins.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Sanego State comes from the Mountain West who before this year,
- 34:28Speaker 1: I believe as a conference lost eight games in a
- 34:31Speaker 1: row as a conference in the NCAA Tournament, and they've
- 34:34Speaker 1: had some good teams, but you know, prone in the upsets.
- 34:37Speaker 1: San Diego State is a is a better version of Tennessee.
- 34:41Speaker 1: And we saw FAU against Tennessee wasn't pretty in the
- 34:44Speaker 1: first half, but they stick to their their strengths, and
- 34:48Speaker 1: that's three point shooting. And people made a big deal
- 34:50Speaker 1: they didn't even shoot it well in the first two rounds,
- 34:53Speaker 1: but they you know, they played Memphis and then they
- 34:55Speaker 1: got to play Fairleye Dickinson and that's why I think
- 34:57Speaker 1: they got locked down, looked down upon a lot beca
- 35:00Speaker 1: because they got f tou instead of Purdue in that game.
- 35:03Speaker 1: But then they came back against Tennessee. Everybody says tense
- 35:06Speaker 1: Tennessee strength or their their overall strength, their physicality was
- 35:10Speaker 1: gonna wear on Fau, and it didn't. Fau made threes.
- 35:14Speaker 1: They played ten and that's the way you got to
- 35:15Speaker 1: play when you're a mid major. You got to have
- 35:18Speaker 1: a lot of guys, you got to violate the three
- 35:19Speaker 1: point line. Tennessee made twos, FAU made threes and then
- 35:23Speaker 1: the same thing happened against Kansas State. Uh, they finally
- 35:27Speaker 1: made their too. I think they were only making twenty
- 35:29Speaker 1: percent of their threes and then they went nine for
- 35:31Speaker 1: twenty one. I believe in that game. So I think
- 35:34Speaker 1: it's a low scoring first half where you know, now
- 35:36Speaker 1: you got uh, you got a giant football stadium backdrop
- 35:41Speaker 1: shooting I think could be an issue early on. It
- 35:43Speaker 1: is the first game I've read a bunch of stuff
- 35:45Speaker 1: where these college kids are saying, you know, during shoot around,
- 35:48Speaker 1: they're building the court and the hoop. You know, you go.
- 35:51Speaker 1: You think you go to massive square garden and you
- 35:53Speaker 1: plan on the knicks, rims and court. You don't. NCAA
- 35:56Speaker 1: brings in their whole court and there in their brand
- 35:59Speaker 1: new rims that are hardest. Heck, like a three pointer,
- 36:01Speaker 1: if it hits the rim, once in a while, it'll
- 36:04Speaker 1: go right over the over the backboard and the other
- 36:07Speaker 1: team's board. First round, nay a tournament, it was like
- 36:10Speaker 1: six times a game. I like these rims. How can
- 36:12Speaker 1: you pass these things? How hard they are? But I
- 36:16Speaker 1: sort of starting to lean to FAU. I believe they
- 36:19Speaker 1: can do this because that, like I said, they play ten.
- 36:22Speaker 1: They stick to their strengths. May has done a great
- 36:25Speaker 1: job of making halftime adjustments. So I would I would
- 36:28Speaker 1: lean FAU in that first game and I would take
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yukon in the second. But like I said, if you
- 36:32Speaker 1: want value plays, you want string together some parlays. H
- 36:35Speaker 1: there's some there's some stuff with the underdogs that that
- 36:38Speaker 1: I see pretty enticing. Another thing UM that I did
- 36:42Speaker 1: pretty well, and there was a stack coming in in
- 36:44Speaker 1: the last twelve years, an over under first half over
- 36:48Speaker 1: under of sixty five went under UM seventeen games over
- 36:53Speaker 1: five hundred of that pace, and then it held up
- 36:55Speaker 1: again in this tournament. So I do look at the
- 36:57Speaker 1: first half under of FAU sanego states seeing teams feel
- 37:01Speaker 1: each other out a little bit. I could see both
- 37:03Speaker 1: teams in the twenties in that first half known that
- 37:05Speaker 1: their defenses are their strengths. Had two final questions for you.
- 37:09Speaker 1: When you talk about FAU and they have to shoot threes,
- 37:13Speaker 1: they do shoot threes. We said the same thing about Alabama.
- 37:15Speaker 1: If they can't shoot threes, can they actually win games?
- 37:17Speaker 1: And we saw they had a really bad shooting night
- 37:20Speaker 1: and they were not able to win the game. Can FAU,
- 37:22Speaker 1: in your opinion, if they have an off night. Let's
- 37:24Speaker 1: say they're shooting twenty eight percent from three. Do they
- 37:27Speaker 1: have enough defense or can they do anything else that's
- 37:29Speaker 1: going to allow them to win that game? I think
- 37:32Speaker 1: they could, yes, because Sanego State's not that elite offensively,
- 37:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So FAU is good defensively,
- 37:38Speaker 1: they're gonna hang their hat in their defense, but they
- 37:40Speaker 1: can also if they're not making threes, they could also
- 37:42Speaker 1: get after you on the defensive end. Combined with the
- 37:46Speaker 1: fact that Sanego State is not going to violate the
- 37:48Speaker 1: three point line. They play slow, they play methodical, they
- 37:52Speaker 1: got big, strong dudes underneath, So yes, I do think
- 37:55Speaker 1: FAU can't hang around if they don't shoot really well
- 37:58Speaker 1: from three. Final question, So, as a high schoolball player,
- 38:02Speaker 1: one of the best, I mean, recruited so highly, but
- 38:04Speaker 1: it was late nineties. You and I are around the
- 38:06Speaker 1: same age. Whenever you hear what these kids are going
- 38:09Speaker 1: through now as they're being recruited, like what was it
- 38:11Speaker 1: like in ninety six versus what you hear about what
- 38:14Speaker 1: it's like now. Well, the social media factor is totally different,
- 38:19Speaker 1: you know, Like I don't even know how they keep
- 38:22Speaker 1: up with the rules. Whether I could contact you on
- 38:24Speaker 1: social media. You know, back in ninety six it was
- 38:26Speaker 1: one call a week. Once I got to think it
- 38:29Speaker 1: was August first, August first they could call you, and
- 38:33Speaker 1: then that was that was really hard because everybody is
- 38:37Speaker 1: selling you the best thing. Everybody's treating you like their
- 38:39Speaker 1: best friend. Everybody's saying you're the best player in the country,
- 38:42Speaker 1: and you in these months, you know, in the month
- 38:46Speaker 1: of weekly phone calls, you build up these these relationships
- 38:50Speaker 1: with the coaches, and then you got to tell them no.
- 38:53Speaker 1: And it's really hard as a seventeen year old kid
- 38:56Speaker 1: being in a thing for a first time where you're
- 39:00Speaker 1: and treated like a god and you got to tell
- 39:02Speaker 1: somebody know that, that was really hard. And now with
- 39:05Speaker 1: the social media, I feel like, you know, they could
- 39:07Speaker 1: type in something's a lot easier than a face to face,
- 39:09Speaker 1: right or even a phone conversation. So I do think
- 39:12Speaker 1: that is the problem I have is, you know, these
- 39:15Speaker 1: guys going on their visits now, they take a picture
- 39:17Speaker 1: and every single uniform they go to and I'm like catching,
- 39:20Speaker 1: I'm like, oh this guy committed there. Oh no, it
- 39:22Speaker 1: just a visit and wanted to see how he looked
- 39:24Speaker 1: at the uniform, so they bring on a lot of
- 39:28Speaker 1: stuff to themselves. But that's that's the day and age
- 39:31Speaker 1: we're in here, right, everybody's selling their brand. The nil
- 39:34Speaker 1: is real, so it's it's different. I'm not a big
- 39:37Speaker 1: self promoting guy. I kind of like to just you know,
- 39:42Speaker 1: lay low and do my own work and let the
- 39:45Speaker 1: results play out. But these guys get out in front
- 39:47Speaker 1: of it. So I think the everyday essence of it
- 39:50Speaker 1: is what's different to me. And that's what these kids
- 39:53Speaker 1: are brought up in now and now I said, you know,
- 39:56Speaker 1: I've always said when I got out of college, I
- 39:58Speaker 1: didn't have a plan, didn't know what I wanted to do.
- 40:01Speaker 1: I thought I could play football forever. And they you know,
- 40:05Speaker 1: that's a harsh reality. So whatever I try and talk to,
- 40:08Speaker 1: whether I go back to Stanford and talk or go
- 40:10Speaker 1: to talk to college, like you gotta have a plan, man,
- 40:12Speaker 1: Like what's your major? You know, what are your credit situation?
- 40:14Speaker 1: Have you done any internships? Uh? And the other thing
- 40:17Speaker 1: is like sports media. Um, I always say, get get
- 40:20Speaker 1: on camera, get on tape. Uh, you know, be on
- 40:24Speaker 1: air as much as possible because that's the first thing
- 40:27Speaker 1: they want. And if you're one of these guys like, hey,
- 40:30Speaker 1: I got a degree, all right, well what'd you do?
- 40:32Speaker 1: What kind of experience do you have? And they say, oh,
- 40:34Speaker 1: I didn't, I didn't have any like that. You're You're
- 40:37Speaker 1: all the way down the ladder with that with that response.
- 40:41Speaker 1: So I just, you know, get experienced. But these kids,
- 40:44Speaker 1: I mean, everything at is at your fingertips and it's
- 40:48Speaker 1: it's fascinating to play out. But I always say, just
- 40:50Speaker 1: try and have a plan. I'm big fans sports and
- 40:52Speaker 1: or commentator, second producer on the Midnight Sports Center with
- 40:55Speaker 1: SVP on Bad Beats. Where on the world is an SVP?
- 40:58Speaker 1: I mean it's all over at Stanford Steve eighty two
- 41:01Speaker 1: appreciate the time. One quick follow up, who was the
- 41:04Speaker 1: hardest no? Who do you have to say no to?
- 41:05Speaker 1: That was the hardest no? Well, came down to Stanford
- 41:08Speaker 1: and North Carolina. Mac Brown was the guy at North Carolina.
- 41:11Speaker 1: So um as good of a politician Mac is, and
- 41:16Speaker 1: the selling he can do, and just being the overall
- 41:19Speaker 1: the aura of mac Brown telling him no. It was
- 41:22Speaker 1: pretty hard. But I will say he I did catch
- 41:25Speaker 1: him in a lot because a year later he went
- 41:26Speaker 1: to Texas, So you got him Okay, well I think
- 41:29Speaker 1: we're ready to start the interview. Now, are you guys?
- 41:32Speaker 1: Good to catch up here at three two? I, hey, Steve,
- 41:35Speaker 1: thanks for the time. Man, Really appreciate you a big fan. Hey,
- 41:38Speaker 1: I appreciate you guys thinking of me having me on.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Continued success with all the guys you do. Uh, it's
- 41:42Speaker 1: unbelievable see what you guys have built. So that's a
- 41:45Speaker 1: credit to you guys. Man, Thank you. Thank have a
- 41:47Speaker 1: good day. Thanks to Stanford Steve for hanging out. That
- 41:50Speaker 1: was fun, especially the first part. We know we were on. Yes,
- 41:53Speaker 1: I got a few things I want to get into
- 41:56Speaker 1: opening day. Do you care? Yes? Hell yeah, that's when
- 41:59Speaker 1: I care. I care this week and then I'm I
- 42:01Speaker 1: check out until October. Oh you go one week? That's it.
- 42:04Speaker 1: One week we should do. I mean, what helps me
- 42:07Speaker 1: with football is fantasy football, Like I know all the details.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Oh no, you're proposing fantasy baseball. Oh no, when I'm
- 42:16Speaker 1: gonna have to buy the pass. Whenever I've played fantasy
- 42:18Speaker 1: baseball or fantasy basketball, man, I was so good at it.
- 42:21Speaker 1: It's not baseball, not the game, but doing talking about it.
- 42:24Speaker 1: We don't have to. It's just is what happens to me.
- 42:27Speaker 1: So when I do fantasy baseball. I got to dinner
- 42:30Speaker 1: with a family, I'm like, oh, can we Bartender? Can
- 42:33Speaker 1: we change that TV to the Indians and the Pirates?
- 42:35Speaker 1: I think they're playing, And it's like it's I've never
- 42:38Speaker 1: cared about those games before, but all of a sudden,
- 42:40Speaker 1: I want to. Then how about this, Kevin? Would you
- 42:43Speaker 1: look and we'll come back next week. Would you look
- 42:46Speaker 1: and find a very simple way to do fantasy baseball? Yes,
- 42:50Speaker 1: because I've been in the leagues before. We have to
- 42:51Speaker 1: change our pictures all the time when they're pitching. But
- 42:53Speaker 1: maybe there's a locket one for the week. It's a week,
- 42:58Speaker 1: it's a week, and then you lock it and can't
- 43:00Speaker 1: move anybody. And now, I don't know, find this simplest
- 43:02Speaker 1: thing possible. We can probably look into daily fantasy on DraftKings.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I don't want to do that, Okay, I don't want
- 43:08Speaker 1: to do anything daily because I'll be obsessed with it. Well,
- 43:10Speaker 1: I think it's called daily. We can probably set it
- 43:11Speaker 1: up for the week, got it. But have you ever
- 43:14Speaker 1: heard of beat the Streak? I used to play that.
- 43:16Speaker 1: How far did you get like five or something? Yeah?
- 43:20Speaker 1: And I think in order to win the money you
- 43:22Speaker 1: have to get like what forty Oh I don't know.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I never was gonna I think it's sixty six. Yeah, whatever,
- 43:28Speaker 1: whatever the hitting streak record is. And dude, the furthest
- 43:31Speaker 1: Ibergut was three. It's ridiculous. Oh yeah, I don't have
- 43:34Speaker 1: some long record either. I would just be like, what
- 43:35Speaker 1: this game stupid only because I couldn't win. And I'll
- 43:36Speaker 1: be like, no, I think they'll make less than fourteen
- 43:38Speaker 1: two pointers in the first three quarters. You know, you're
- 43:40Speaker 1: just picking random things at one point. Yeah, just give
- 43:43Speaker 1: us an update next week. If we can find something easy,
- 43:45Speaker 1: I'll do it. I just can't get obsessed with it
- 43:47Speaker 1: like I do everything else happens. I know, today's opening day,
- 43:51Speaker 1: which means the pitch clock era has officially begun. Here
- 43:54Speaker 1: are the quick rules, so everybody knows. Basses are empty.
- 43:58Speaker 1: You got fifteen seconds, okay, runners on, you got twenty seconds.
- 44:03Speaker 1: A ball is called if pitchers don't begin, they're wind
- 44:05Speaker 1: ups before it flashes the zero zero zero. You got
- 44:10Speaker 1: to be in motion the pitch. Yeah, I wonder if
- 44:12Speaker 1: you can just start real slow like some of those
- 44:15Speaker 1: some of those pictures are real slow. How do they
- 44:17Speaker 1: know if them moving or not? Yeah, exactly, prove I'm
- 44:19Speaker 1: not moving? Are we always? Are? We always moving? The
- 44:22Speaker 1: earth part of moving. It's part of my pitch science.
- 44:25Speaker 1: A strike is called if batters aren't alert and facing
- 44:28Speaker 1: the picture at the eight second mark. So that's the
- 44:31Speaker 1: deal there. It will help the game. The new pitch
- 44:34Speaker 1: clock rules. Through the preseason, they shaved off about thirty
- 44:37Speaker 1: minutes off stream spring training games, which is great game
- 44:40Speaker 1: the last of two and a half hours. Still pretty long,
- 44:44Speaker 1: but better than three hours. Yeah, and it's shorter than football.
- 44:47Speaker 1: And I know it's not traditional, but you know what
- 44:49Speaker 1: traditionally is happening. People aren't watching baseball anymore. That's the tradition.
- 44:53Speaker 1: That's a new tradition, not watching baseball. So sometimes you
- 44:56Speaker 1: gotta pivot. So that's the deal. The bases are bigger
- 44:59Speaker 1: by three inches on side. That just lets people have
- 45:03Speaker 1: more base to get too. Some people on hitting each
- 45:04Speaker 1: other getting injured, Does that make sense? Yeah, that's gonna
- 45:08Speaker 1: look interesting. A lot of basses they touched first base,
- 45:10Speaker 1: second base touch each other. Unning fellows look like big
- 45:16Speaker 1: old marshmallows out there. Pictures can step off the rubber
- 45:18Speaker 1: only two times per plate appearance, a third disengagement must
- 45:22Speaker 1: result in an out or a ball will be issued.
- 45:26Speaker 1: So there's that. Okay, here we go. This is the
- 45:30Speaker 1: story I was thinking I read. I knew I read
- 45:31Speaker 1: it because I put it here in the packet. Robert
- 45:34Speaker 1: Kraft says rapper meek Mill texted him that Lamar Jackson
- 45:37Speaker 1: wants to be on the Patriots. I met meek Mill once. Really,
- 45:42Speaker 1: please tell us a story. Yeah, walking off the court
- 45:44Speaker 1: Masses Square Garden, Nick's Sixers, New York. It's a little dramatic.
- 45:53Speaker 1: It was thunderstorm outside, walked off right beside him, didn't
- 45:56Speaker 1: know who he was. Everybody's like, let's meek Mill. It's like, oh,
- 46:00Speaker 1: cool guy in We had two little tables. I was
- 46:02Speaker 1: eating by myself. I got to go the next like
- 46:05Speaker 1: fancy room, which is weird because nobody in New York
- 46:09Speaker 1: is a crap about me. But I know a guy
- 46:12Speaker 1: who like runs Maddis Square Garden. It's the coolest thing ever.
- 46:15Speaker 1: So I'm in there and meeting next to meek Mill
- 46:17Speaker 1: and the girl from Gray's Anatomy, Meredith Gray. Oh wow,
- 46:22Speaker 1: are you all eating near each other? Just in the room,
- 46:25Speaker 1: we're eating near each other in small tables or like
- 46:26Speaker 1: four small tables, not talking at all. They were to
- 46:30Speaker 1: each other, but not to meet. Nobody talks to me.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Nobody knew who I was. I don't have any friends,
- 46:36Speaker 1: so but I did. I did. Oh that's the end
- 46:38Speaker 1: of your story. Yeahs terrible story? Was the food good?
- 46:41Speaker 1: No is He's fine. According to Robert Craft, the Philadelphia
- 46:47Speaker 1: Rapper reached out last week to tell him Lamar Jackson
- 46:49Speaker 1: wants to plant Foxboro. Well, Lamar has got more agents
- 46:51Speaker 1: than anybody else. Is one of them. He's got a
- 46:53Speaker 1: guy doing the ab flex or this representing him. He's
- 46:56Speaker 1: got Meek Mill. If Lamar reaches an agreement with the
- 46:58Speaker 1: Patriots and the Ravens don't match, the Patriots have to
- 47:00Speaker 1: give up two first round picks, which've talked about. That's
- 47:02Speaker 1: any team. The Patriots have the fourteenth overall pick this year.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Belichick was asked about it and said, I'm not going
- 47:08Speaker 1: to talk about players on any other team period. Good rules.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Speaking of Belichick, is he on the hot seat? Yes
- 47:13Speaker 1: or no? One word only, yes or no to our
- 47:16Speaker 1: Patriots guy kick off Kevin Yes or no? No? Absolutely
- 47:21Speaker 1: not Eddie hot scenes ridiculous. No, I will say they've
- 47:25Speaker 1: installed a heater in the seat sure to keep them warm. No,
- 47:32Speaker 1: I'm saying they've installed a heater in case they need
- 47:34Speaker 1: to turn it on soon. Oh. Patriots insider Tom curn
- 47:37Speaker 1: reported last week that Robert Craft expects success and some
- 47:40Speaker 1: conversations are going to be on the within the organization
- 47:43Speaker 1: about his future. And so it's them going here, we're
- 47:46Speaker 1: gonna win or not, because you want a whole lot,
- 47:49Speaker 1: we're gonna win again. New England's twenty five and twenty
- 47:53Speaker 1: five since Brady left, only made the playoffs once since
- 47:55Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, but there's only been a couple of seasons.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Fair height, guys, it's not easy to win, okay, but
- 48:02Speaker 1: you got a quarterback that's been there a bit. Now,
- 48:04Speaker 1: that's my point about the hot seat. You've had two seasons.
- 48:06Speaker 1: You're five hundred. It's a thirty year a quarterback. Now.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I think the Patricia and Joe Judge thing really hurt
- 48:14Speaker 1: him last year, but that's his fault. I know, I agree,
- 48:17Speaker 1: I totally agree. So I just think that call really
- 48:20Speaker 1: rubbed people the wrong way, including fans. If he goes
- 48:24Speaker 1: a game under five hundred seventeen games, now what game
- 48:28Speaker 1: under five hundred? Is he on the hot seat for
- 48:30Speaker 1: next year? Then then next year? No, lifetime passes don't
- 48:37Speaker 1: exist anymore. Boys, Oh it's Belichick, dude. He retires with
- 48:40Speaker 1: the Patriots, I agree, or he leaves in his own
- 48:42Speaker 1: on his own will, but his own will is probably like, hey,
- 48:44Speaker 1: did you leave on your own will? Yeah, you gotta
- 48:46Speaker 1: get out of here, you depart way. It's kind of thing.
- 48:50Speaker 1: If he doesn't win next year, it's it's just gonna
- 48:52Speaker 1: get uncomfortable because again he'll have what Mac Jones, you're three,
- 48:56Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien, Now, yeah, I think he needs to go
- 49:00Speaker 1: a game or two over five hundred. Maybe want to
- 49:02Speaker 1: playoff game? What they won one playoff? No, they lost
- 49:04Speaker 1: their only wild card game and gets Buffalo and they
- 49:06Speaker 1: freaking smashed their brains in smoked. So now Eddie what no, no, no,
- 49:11Speaker 1: I stay, I stay with it. Okay, he dies in
- 49:14Speaker 1: in uh New England. That's pretty dark, not anytime saying
- 49:16Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Career reports are saying the
- 49:19Speaker 1: finalists for the Basketball Hall of Fame are Dwayne Wade,
- 49:23Speaker 1: Dark and Whiskey Pocasaw, Greg Popovich, Becky Hammond, and Tony
- 49:27Speaker 1: Parker an official announcement we made Saturday at Houston and
- 49:30Speaker 1: Houston for the final four. Now I read this and
- 49:33Speaker 1: I read also elected to the Hall of Fame. Now
- 49:35Speaker 1: that says finalists. But elected are they the people they
- 49:38Speaker 1: say are getting in the Hall of Fame, but they're
- 49:39Speaker 1: gonna be finalists. You gotta help me in this. They
- 49:41Speaker 1: are the finalists to be elected in the Hall of Fame. Okay,
- 49:43Speaker 1: So they're not in yet, not officially, but it's not
- 49:47Speaker 1: like but they will be in ye saturda where they
- 49:51Speaker 1: will say you're up for it and they don't get it. No,
- 49:54Speaker 1: they're in. They're okay. Then why are they say in
- 49:56Speaker 1: finalists that should be the winners. Ninalists means they're still
- 49:59Speaker 1: a competition. That's true, right, And that's why I was
- 50:01Speaker 1: confused by this because I thought, oh, they are all
- 50:04Speaker 1: deserving to go into the Hall of Fame. And then
- 50:06Speaker 1: it the only thing that threw me off. Reports are
- 50:09Speaker 1: saying the finalists, we know what you do in a final.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Will you play the final regardless of what it is.
- 50:16Speaker 1: But I'll say it again, We'll just go through them.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Dwayne Wade for sure, Hall of Famer, for sure, won
- 50:21Speaker 1: three championships, thirteen times All Star, Olympic gold medalist, Boom
- 50:24Speaker 1: Dirty Whisky for sure, number six all time scoring less
- 50:27Speaker 1: thirty one thousand points. League MVP won a championship finals
- 50:30Speaker 1: MVP approved Faugasaw. Now here's the one that's interesting is
- 50:35Speaker 1: that Paul Gasaw was not ever the big dog on
- 50:37Speaker 1: the team when the team was doing big dog things.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Who was the big dog? Kobe Shack was on the
- 50:43Speaker 1: team as well. No, no, I don't think Shack was.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Jack was never the Lakers when he was there. I
- 50:47Speaker 1: don't think Shack and Paugasaw. He replaced Shack a couple
- 50:49Speaker 1: of years after Shack got you. So he won two championships.
- 50:53Speaker 1: But he's with Kobe. But it's like Scottie Pipott He's on. Yeah.
- 50:55Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not comparing them, but I am Scottie
- 51:00Speaker 1: Pivens and easily. He was name one of the fifty
- 51:02Speaker 1: Greatest basketball players of all time, Six time All Star,
- 51:04Speaker 1: two time Olympics silver medalists for Spain. Greg Popovich, that's
- 51:10Speaker 1: your guy, one percent. Put pop in. That's like me
- 51:12Speaker 1: going muss yeah, put them Hall of Fame. One of
- 51:14Speaker 1: the greatest coaches ever NBA's all time later Why no, No,
- 51:19Speaker 1: the same thing. You will stay in San Antonio even
- 51:21Speaker 1: if they keep losing. Absolutely, and they've been losing. I
- 51:24Speaker 1: say keep losing, I mean yeah, and they've done nothing
- 51:26Speaker 1: about it. NBA's all time leader in coaching wins is
- 51:29Speaker 1: won five championships with the Spurs. The five championships? Does
- 51:31Speaker 1: it all? Oh yeah, that's a Hall of Famer. Becky Hammond,
- 51:34Speaker 1: six time All Star coach the ass to a championship
- 51:36Speaker 1: last summer, trail Blazer. The interesting thing about her is
- 51:39Speaker 1: you know she can ride in coach first year boom
- 51:41Speaker 1: one it it's a big deal. Awesome and she and Less.
- 51:44Speaker 1: I'm like an act. Like I watch the w NBA,
- 51:46Speaker 1: but they are on two K. They have a league.
- 51:49Speaker 1: They are Yeah. Every time you log in and I
- 51:51Speaker 1: never played one, I keep going, I should played that.
- 51:52Speaker 1: See what it's like. I never played a once, but
- 51:54Speaker 1: a lot of layups? Did you play it? I played
- 51:56Speaker 1: it before? No? Can any of my kids? Can anybody
- 51:57Speaker 1: dunk at all? Can you like build them to duck?
- 51:59Speaker 1: I think only what's her name? Conne Rebecca Lobo? No? No,
- 52:03Speaker 1: who's um Shell swoops? No? And he's on TV she's
- 52:07Speaker 1: on TV. Uh, Kelly Rippa to move on, Tony Parker, Yes,
- 52:15Speaker 1: put the man in. He's in. So they're not finalists,
- 52:19Speaker 1: they're in it. Yeah, I just so. I looked at
- 52:20Speaker 1: him again and another report says elected. Okay. So, four
- 52:24Speaker 1: time NBA Champion, Finals, MVP in two thousand and seven,
- 52:27Speaker 1: six time NBA All Start, three times All NBA Second Team. Congratulations,
- 52:30Speaker 1: they're all They're all deserving. So man news next. I
- 52:33Speaker 1: don't know about Manu. I mean the answer is probably
- 52:36Speaker 1: lean yes, but I need to Oh, man, I'm one
- 52:39Speaker 1: of the greatest. We takes some time, but I don't
- 52:41Speaker 1: know about the girl the greatest. What he played on
- 52:44Speaker 1: on a great team with great players. Was a wonderful teammate,
- 52:46Speaker 1: really mate, But he was six man a lot too,
- 52:48Speaker 1: wasn't he. Yeah he was and can come off the bench. Yeah,
- 52:50Speaker 1: so if you're but that was the tactic. He could
- 52:52Speaker 1: have been a starter and any other team, but the
- 52:54Speaker 1: tactic was to keep him on the bench. Come in.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Has a Hall of Famer ever been a sixth man,
- 52:59Speaker 1: like as a not as an old player, and not
- 53:02Speaker 1: as a rookie like in the prime of their career.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Were they as six Wow. Interesting, that's when you asked
- 53:07Speaker 1: that about Monyo. I was like, Okay, but then I
- 53:10Speaker 1: remember when they were killing and he was killing it.
- 53:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah with Duncan, with Parker, with you could go down.
- 53:16Speaker 1: I mean, it's funny to think about Kawhi plan in Sanato. Yeah,
- 53:19Speaker 1: towards the end of all that, Yeah, what are you
- 53:21Speaker 1: gonna say, John Halcheck Celtics. Great, he came up the
- 53:24Speaker 1: bench for the first seven years of his career. Of
- 53:27Speaker 1: course he's gonna go to a Celtic's first thing. I'm
- 53:30Speaker 1: just saying. I'm just saying that Celtics dot Com Black
- 53:35Speaker 1: and White time, Yes, yes, where they just probably put
- 53:40Speaker 1: like two starts on the first tame, two start in
- 53:41Speaker 1: the second team and the Okay, anybody in the modern
- 53:44Speaker 1: era of basketball get in the Hall of Fame as
- 53:46Speaker 1: a sixth man? That left Shrimp Shrimp? Yeah, but was
- 53:49Speaker 1: he a six man Pacers right back to back six
- 53:52Speaker 1: Men of the Year award? Okay, he was back to
- 53:54Speaker 1: back six Man of the Year and he used in
- 53:55Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame? Is that left Shrimp in the
- 53:57Speaker 1: Hall of Fame? What's his career? It doesn't who cares?
- 54:01Speaker 1: I'm moving on. Yeah, I just thought that was an
- 54:03Speaker 1: interesting Oh monu, I thinking about that. Let me lane
- 54:06Speaker 1: six man. Never thought about it. And if our owners
- 54:10Speaker 1: approve we're in the number zero, that will now be
- 54:13Speaker 1: a number that's allowed. That's cool. But what position would
- 54:16Speaker 1: that be? Because obviously the eighties are mostly receivers. Change fifties, Yeah,
- 54:24Speaker 1: but you can also be a single number like single numbers,
- 54:27Speaker 1: and eighties, fifties and sixties seventies are mostly linemen, interior linemen,
- 54:33Speaker 1: occasional linebacker. Some linebackers are thirties forties. What's zero? Could
- 54:40Speaker 1: I want to see a punter? Players can use zero
- 54:43Speaker 1: as a jersey number. Kickers and punters can use any
- 54:45Speaker 1: number between O and forty nine and ninety and ninety nine.
- 54:48Speaker 1: So kickers and punters can. But I wonder I loved
- 54:51Speaker 1: if I was received, I want to be zero. Well,
- 54:52Speaker 1: if Calvin Ridley already announced he's gonna do it. Oh
- 54:55Speaker 1: so you can't get it as a receiver. Yeah, he's
- 54:56Speaker 1: gonna do it. Because I did not see anywhere what
- 54:58Speaker 1: zero could go to. Could a center b zero? That's
- 55:02Speaker 1: a cool if you be a center. I'd always always
- 55:05Speaker 1: thought sixty, how would be hilarious? And I always look
- 55:07Speaker 1: at the players got sixty nine. They're always the same
- 55:08Speaker 1: kind of guy. They're like they got like a straggly beard,
- 55:11Speaker 1: like a tooth, missing mullet. Yeah, their hair is kind
- 55:14Speaker 1: of messed up or a mullet. Yeah, they know what
- 55:16Speaker 1: they're doing. The sixty nine guy on the team is
- 55:18Speaker 1: always like that guy, you know, because you don't just
- 55:21Speaker 1: get that, like, okay, we're throwing out numbers. Do you
- 55:23Speaker 1: care what number you get now, coach, I don't care.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Here's sixty nine. Okay, thank you, coach. That guy's not
- 55:27Speaker 1: getting sixty nine. You have to go and seek out
- 55:29Speaker 1: sixty nine. The replay official can automatically review a close
- 55:33Speaker 1: play on a fell fourth down attempt. This will save
- 55:35Speaker 1: a team's challenge if a close call happens on fourth
- 55:38Speaker 1: So basically, if it happens and you don't get your
- 55:41Speaker 1: call on a close fourth down call, they're just gonna
- 55:42Speaker 1: review it automatically if they deem it review a bowl good,
- 55:45Speaker 1: So that'll save a couple of challenges. Rules not approved
- 55:48Speaker 1: by the NFL. I wish they would change the onside
- 55:52Speaker 1: kick rule because once I saw it in the XFL,
- 55:56Speaker 1: I thought that's cool, and it actually gives people a
- 55:58Speaker 1: chance when that heck, do they ever recover onside kick?
- 56:02Speaker 1: Never one out of a hundred, Right, I'm surprised somebody
- 56:06Speaker 1: has a revolutionized the onside kick though and figured out
- 56:08Speaker 1: like a new way to do it with as much
- 56:11Speaker 1: trick shot happens on TikTok and yeah, like that a
- 56:15Speaker 1: kickers figured out a way to like kick it in
- 56:17Speaker 1: the year, hit a line and come back there. I
- 56:18Speaker 1: don't know, Yeah, somehow comes back, Yeah, like a golf
- 56:21Speaker 1: ball with I don't know. I'm surprised that someone has
- 56:23Speaker 1: a revolution is that. I'm sure physics has a lot
- 56:24Speaker 1: to do it that more than the person not wanting
- 56:26Speaker 1: to or I would think you can nail it in
- 56:28Speaker 1: the guy's helmet right in front of you, and like wow,
- 56:30Speaker 1: it's so hard he thinks you're gonna kick it to
- 56:32Speaker 1: the right, nail him in the helmet. It comes back
- 56:33Speaker 1: to you, guys, and you get it. That happened that
- 56:36Speaker 1: I saw, that happened. I've seen it happen when I
- 56:39Speaker 1: was in high school. Purpose was right right in front
- 56:44Speaker 1: of I've only seen it accidentally as well. But they're
- 56:46Speaker 1: not gonna catch that. I mean, it smacked the guy
- 56:48Speaker 1: in the face. That's a great notable rules not to
- 56:50Speaker 1: approved by the NFL. Teams go for it on fourth
- 56:52Speaker 1: and twenty and following a score instead of an onside kick.
- 56:58Speaker 1: This is the Eagles only read this again the Eagos
- 57:00Speaker 1: proposal and it was not allowed. Teams go for it
- 57:02Speaker 1: on fourth and twenty following a score instead of an
- 57:04Speaker 1: onside kick. So you go fourth and twenty instead of kicking.
- 57:09Speaker 1: It's just that's just it's an easy okay. Yeah, no,
- 57:11Speaker 1: it's written out at more difficult than it actually is.
- 57:13Speaker 1: You don't got to kick a onze kick. You just
- 57:15Speaker 1: go for it on fourth twenty. I love it. We
- 57:17Speaker 1: should do that. Why are you actually I'm trying to
- 57:22Speaker 1: understand the scenario. So the game's tower, you're down and
- 57:26Speaker 1: it's your ball. I just saw four percent of what okay, okay,
- 57:30Speaker 1: side kicks. Okay, So you're down, you're kicking the ball
- 57:33Speaker 1: to the players. So instead of kicking it off to them,
- 57:36Speaker 1: you try one play to get twenty get one play
- 57:39Speaker 1: just anywhere to get twenty yards or are you started
- 57:41Speaker 1: the twenty yard line to score? You probably go to score, right.
- 57:44Speaker 1: It makes it even harder because you cut the back
- 57:46Speaker 1: of the field off. Yes, yeah, it didn't get that far, right.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I imagine it's like the XFL though, where it's like
- 57:51Speaker 1: on your own forty. Maybe. I just wish they would
- 57:55Speaker 1: have done something because the onside kick is stupid. Never,
- 57:57Speaker 1: it never happened. We also about on the show to
- 58:00Speaker 1: allow for roughing the passer to be reviewable. They did
- 58:02Speaker 1: not pass that. Other key rules, they're not gonna deal
- 58:07Speaker 1: with the Thursday flex games. You know, it's a safety issue.
- 58:12Speaker 1: If you listen to the players, they play Sunday, then
- 58:14Speaker 1: they played Thursday. That's a quick turnaround. It's dangerous and
- 58:20Speaker 1: huge advantage for the team that didn't do that, meaning like,
- 58:24Speaker 1: so your team had good rest and then not you
- 58:27Speaker 1: know the other team they when they have both played
- 58:29Speaker 1: on Sunday though, so it's rest is the same. It's
- 58:31Speaker 1: two different teams. Yeah, but let's say the two teams
- 58:33Speaker 1: that are playing on Thursday, they both just played on Sunday. Right,
- 58:36Speaker 1: But they're saying, like, is so the team that plays
- 58:39Speaker 1: on Sunday can't play on Thursday again because there's no rest,
- 58:43Speaker 1: right right, Kevin, you got to help me understand what's
- 58:46Speaker 1: happened with that, right right? This is like a normal Thursday,
- 58:49Speaker 1: so you know they played on Thursdays. Now, Yeah, after Sunday,
- 58:51Speaker 1: both teams played on Sunday, and then they play again
- 58:53Speaker 1: on Thursday against each other. So now they're saying they
- 58:56Speaker 1: would flex a Thursday night game later in the season
- 58:58Speaker 1: to make the games better because of games on Thursdays
- 59:01Speaker 1: are not very good, especially the second half of the season.
- 59:04Speaker 1: And they also do use as an argument the Thursday
- 59:07Speaker 1: games are bad anyway, just anyway, I guess players are
- 59:09Speaker 1: getting hurt, like that's like a throw in. But no, Eddie,
- 59:11Speaker 1: if you play on Thursday, both those teams have just
- 59:13Speaker 1: played on the Sunday, you're right, you're right now. If
- 59:15Speaker 1: they made him go, I was thinking maybe of a
- 59:17Speaker 1: bye too, he coming off of bye and then you
- 59:19Speaker 1: gotta play on Thursday. You gotta play, Okay Thursday. You
- 59:22Speaker 1: didn't say that, but if you would have set my
- 59:24Speaker 1: mind though, I don't know that's ever happened, but that
- 59:27Speaker 1: would actually make sense. Now if they made him go
- 59:30Speaker 1: Sunday Thursday, then the Sunday two days later, three days later,
- 59:33Speaker 1: that would be very dangerous. Three games. I want to
- 59:38Speaker 1: go that Chiefs fan fan who was dropping around robbing banks. Yeah,
- 59:42Speaker 1: the Wolf. He cut off his ankle bracelets on the run.
- 59:44Speaker 1: What an idiot. The thing is people know what he
- 59:47Speaker 1: looks like, not everybody, but he's easy to find. We're
- 59:50Speaker 1: talking about it on a stupid podcast. So Eric, he's out.
- 59:54Speaker 1: He's facing robbery charges in Oklahoma. He's missing after removing
- 59:57Speaker 1: his ankle monitor, a one million dollar bond war it
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: was issued. According to the affiday of the ankle monitor
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: was disposed of in the woods nearby. He threatened a
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: teller at the Tulsa Teachers Credit Union with a gun
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: and then made away the one hundred fifty thousand bucks
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: before he was arrested. Prior to the last season, he
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: posted a five thousand or bet slip on the Chiefs
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: to win the Super Bowl and another five thousand our
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: bets slip on Patrick Mahomes when MVP, if legitimate, the
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: best would pay a net of ninety thousand dollars. The
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Commanders are well being sold. We think that it. See
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Magic Johnson was in the group there to buy the team,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: and I know at least one of them has met
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: the price that Dan Snyder said, I'll sell it for
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: this much. Two groups submit six billion dollars bids for
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: the commanders. Eventually they got to hit him like a
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: ceiling with buying these teams, like how much are they
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: really worth? Yeah, the Josh Harris and Mitchell Rill's group,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: which now includes Magic Johnson, submitted that bid six billion dollars.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Canadian billionaire Steve Long last name don't know it also
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: submitted a fully funded six billion dollars offer. If either
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: a bid is accepted, the deal would break the previous
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: record sale for a franchise. The Broncos sold in August
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: for four point six five billion, So you're talking about
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: over one point three billion dollars more, not even a

- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I feel like that whole meeting would be like succession.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: I watched that. It's all jockeying and politicize it. We're
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: gonna allow them, What are they gonna give us? What
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: are we gonna do? How are they gonna get? I
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: feel like it'd be like that those profitable, profitable businesses.

- 1:01:36Speaker 1: when you sell it, you make a lot more. I
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: don't know that for a fact. And teams might actually
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: make money, and I'm sure some do, but I know
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: with the sale of the teams, they tend to always
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: make a lot of money. Back, Tim McGraw played basketball

- 1:02:36Speaker 1: We love talking in high school sports with people that
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: used to be good in high school, and so this
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: is me talking to Tim McGraw about playing basketball in
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: high school. What makes a night magic on stage? Because
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: to us, you may have a terrible show or a
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: great show, but we don't know the difference if we're
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: watching for the most part, because we're like, man, this
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: is awesome. We're hearing all the big new songs, all
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: the great songs from you know, nineties, two thousands, two
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: thousand and tens, We're hearing all the hits, and we're
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: just like, that was an amazing show. But you may
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: come off and god damn, man, that was not a
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: good show. Like, what's the difference in a good show
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: or a thunderbolt? Like you said, you know, most of
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: the time, it's how your ears sound. I mean, when
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: your ears are sounding great. That's when everything's great. When
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: you're having to if your ears don't sound really well
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: and you're having to push really hard or your vocal
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: to get any tone and get any feeling or get
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: any soul out of it, those are the nights you
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: feel like you're struggling, you know. So it's like the
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: mix and sometimes it's just different, and sometimes it's just different.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: You can have the same setup, the same everything in
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: every room's different, and but some nights you just have
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: this perfect sound and the bands on target. You know
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: you're on target. The audience is there with you the
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: whole time, and it's pretty awesome. But then you know
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: you have nights it's like, you know, I can remember
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: one of my best basketball games. I had the flu
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: and thought I sucked the whole game and went back
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: and scored a lot of points. But sometimes you hyper
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: focus because things aren't going right and you have a
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: better show than you think. Yeah, back to your high
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: school basketball career. Most point you ever scoring a game?
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Fifty two? No way? Yeah, are you kidding? It was
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: a freak night. How did you score? I mean, I
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: know how fifty two comes, I know how you add
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: numbers and get fifty two? But like, were you playing
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: a team? Well, first of all, where did you play
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: with your guard? That was a guard? Okay, that was
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: a guarden. Were you a shooting guard? I wasn't a
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: great outside shot and we didn't have three points back
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: then either, So yeah, why why that night? Was the
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: game plan built around you take an advantage of somebody else?
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Fifty two is an amazing thing. No, I'm just one
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: of those nights that you were just on everything was falling?
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Was the rim? Did it look like that sonic massive
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: sonic coup where I just looked gigantic and you couldn't miss. Yeah,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: they snuckle woman's basketball in there? For me, No, it
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: was a you know, just every now and then you
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: have those nights. What'd you average? Sah my senior year
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: twenty seven? Wow? Yeah, do you talk about that often? No? Gosh,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: that was a long time ago. I couldn't. I couldn't
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: hit a bucket on a prayer. Let'll tell you who
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you are, your pistol pet I'm gonna teall, why imagine
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: you score? You average twenty seven a night with no
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: three point line? Pistol Pete average forty four to LSU
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: was no three point line. Yeah, he wasn't. He was incredible.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: You know, it's funny funny that you mentioned Pistol Pete.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: There was a while back that they were going to
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: do a movie about Pistol Pete and I was going
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: to play him. No, no, but that was a long
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: time ago. That would have But he was like six
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: five something like that, and I'm I'm like barely six
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: foot on a good day, so we'd had to put
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: a lot of short people around. That's every time movie,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: every every mission, impossible, that's what that is. You average
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: over twenty five points a game in high school? Were
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: you the athlete in high school? Were you the singer?
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I was. I was an athlete. That was my whole
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: purpose was I was a good student too, So I
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: don't want to push that to the side, but uh yeah,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: I was an athlete and whatever sport was in season
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: was my favorite. For all children out there, I'll being
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: a good students the way to go. You gotta be
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: got to get that. Yeah, So did you play the
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: other baseball? Baseball and football? So you played football too?
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I did what position of football? Wide receiver and defensive back,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: and so you played both ways. Big school, small school,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: small Schoolah, because I played both ways, because only had
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: forty people on the team. Yeah, we didn't have very
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: many people on the team. When our basketball team, we
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: were like a B school, but we were playing in
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: quiet A tournaments. We were playing a lot of big schools.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: When when we were in high school? Do you catch
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: me touchdowns? I caught a few touchdowns. What about baseball, wife,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: How good were you then? I was a decent baseball player,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: played shortstop. Yeah, cannis for an arm, not much of
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: a cannon for an arm. My elbows pretty much shot range. Yeah,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: well you range. Nothing got by me, but my first
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: baseman saved me a lot my throws adding average senior year,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: I don't know my bat average of it was up there,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: pretty high. You gotta be kidding me about music. I
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: forgot about a new song. I'm reready just go deep
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: into Timergrawls high school. I I'll tell you what I knew,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: the pictures that I couldn't hit, so that I learned
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: a bunt lean take a shot all right? Thanks to
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: timergrawl Hey, we have a It's a very sad show

- 1:08:19Speaker 1: But Jordan Davis, who's on this show with us side, Yeah,

- 1:09:18Speaker 1: or this could really be happening. But my four year old,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: I mean, he's just really good at sports. He's built
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: like an athlete. I mean, he dominates everything he does.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: There's been a guy, an older man probably I would
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: say fifty years old, about fifty, shows up at his games,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: doesn't have kids, and he always looks at my son
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: and he comes to me afterwards like, dude, he's so good.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: You know I have an opening in my team coming
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: up next year. If he's interested. That was basketball. Then
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: he comes to it the baseball game shows up again,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: I'm like, who is this guy? He goes, dude, your

- 1:09:59Speaker 1: basketba ball team, a baseball team. I'm waiting for the
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: football offer, and I'm thinking, wow, at four years old,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: there's already a scout trying to scout my kid. Who's
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: the guy? No idea? He does he give you his name? Yeah?
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: I know his first name, but kid google it? Does
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: he give you his last name? And I know that's crazy?
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: What's your name? Trent? Trent? What? It doesn't matter, It's
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: just like to have your kid. No unless he gives
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: you a first and last name, and you can see
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: what he's done well, and I've seen his other him
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: coach other teams. If I've seen that, yeah, pretty good teams,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: and I think he just scouts them out like I'm in.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: Then yeah that's cool. Yeah I'm back around. Yeah I'm
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: a quick turn. If he really has teams and he's good,
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: don't tell me your last name led him buy the
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: first name. I don't give crap. All right, all right, right, right,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: he's like the local recruit. I guess so because I
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: see him at games and his dad was at the
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: last game. He's like, Hey, this is my dad. I'm like, okay,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: here's a dad. This is good. He's not just a
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: random guy. It's a kid. He has no kid. Oh
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: he's a dad. That you're saying that he that was
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: his real dad. I had a kid saying that's my dad.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: God no, no, no, no. So I don't know, man.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: I think it's what your wife say. She thinks it's weird.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: She doesn't want him talking. She didn't want to talk.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: But that's a weird. It's a weird time for that. There.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: I like it. I do it. I wanna have I
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: wanna have kids, just to be on the scene, just
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: to play for excited. Yeah, kind of weirds me out,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Kevin Mine as we touched on a little bit earlier,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: but it is here opening day. I know baseball is
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: not huge, but I love it. I love watching the
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Red Sox every day, get home, throw them on the TV,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: having in the background while I'm doing other stuff, working
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: or whatever. So I'm happy, I'm stoked, and we're gonna see.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Can we see what happens? Yeah, I'm a big Cubs fan.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Of be interesting to see. My final thoughts about Cody Bellinger.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: You're the paying of a bunch of money for one
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: year MVP a few years ago. He obviously signed a
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: one year deal for a reason, but I hope he
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: comes out and crushes it. I got my Cubs blue
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: corduroy air max on today. Bellinger about the one that
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: always looks high, Yeah, it looks high. First year I
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: remember watching and be like, yeah, drug tests that dude.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: But now that's just his face just looks like that.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: So same and fancy baseball. I didn't think about that
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: tool here. I think that would be interesting because all
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: I do is watched the Cubs and keep up with
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: the you know Central, That's pretty much it. But what
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: I love placing the first inning no run. Bet we
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: did that a lot last year. That's my favorite. That's
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: a good one. Hey, you guys have a great weekend.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: This goes up on Thursday today, right, Mike, it does,
