- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: That is one of the worst refereeing the plays of a birthday list.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's color.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: What it is, right?
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you have this feeling that they have completely incompetent.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: Let's call it a business.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's used the word, Robert.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've said it's yes or no.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not like up through interpretation here, I think.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I went back to Jacob now.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: Hello everyone and welcome back to Sports Illustrated Football Club.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: Your new show here on Sports Illustrated.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: Today I'm joined by the man, the myth, the legend, Alessandra, every myth.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: Hello and all.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: the month, my left, the years, we was ED.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: You might notice that I'm not Jacob Cole-Shore.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, Jakey is, on the way out here, he's been powered to pasture, like many a Wopford manager, he's not long for this world.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: So from now on, you might be seeing some different faces, but don't worry, we're going to bring in the same stuff, the same energy, and the same discussion every week.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: There's only one place to start, guys.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: It was described as one of the most difficult
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: of the season.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: Lia's, what did you make of Ashtonville I, UCAS, I'm sorry.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: Difficult is very diplomatic.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry, very, very generous here.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: That is one of the worst, referring to the plays I've ever seen.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just call it what it is, right?
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think it just opens up the can of worms that is VAR.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: And for once, we're talking about the lack of VAR kind of being a play here, because some of the decision or lack of their own that was made throughout this game.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: For almost every single goal is just staggering.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I think really opens the conversation about whether VAR should be used more aggressively, whether it should be scrapped completely.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think at the bare minimum, you need to start implementing it at the lower levels,
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: of the Statue of Newcastle, that's in Villa, we're playing an FA Cup game and didn't have technology at its aid.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Resulted in what was a calamity from start to finish.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, up to you guys to decide what was the worst decision of the match because every single one seemed like increasingly more and more.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you saw this game and you've seen a lot of Italian decisions this week and as well, at least some
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: some disbelief, but what was your thought after the game this weekend?
- 2:13[SPEAKER_02]: What did you, what was your the emotion you were left feeling?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: My feeling is that no VR is not running football because is a support but is certainly lowering the level of the refrain because then they go on the pitch knowing that if they make what some mistakes VR is there to help them.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like they're more
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: and we saw that when there's no VAR, that's the level.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and was extremely poor, to be fair.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: It was, I mean, throughout, we saw big mistakes that otherwise you'd expect referees in days gone to make those calls themselves, right?
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: Let's start with Tammy Abraham then.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lovely move.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really, it's a really beautifully work goal, but he's two yards off side.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: Um, measuring these out of how bad they are, out of 10, how bad is that decision?
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: When I look at the angle, yeah, and I know we're all about angles.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one of our angles.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm the lines of it on the far side, and I'm looking across goal.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: There is an argument we made that Dan Berne who is very, very large in his own regard is maybe blocking his eye line a little bit when you look at that line.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: So, that's me giving some grace to the assistant referee that the line's been there, but it is a bad decision.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like you said, on the first glance, it's a fantastic, the worked set piece.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the little dummy for Douglas Lewis to think it over the top to Abraham, he takes it well, but yeah, he is off-site.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's no question about it.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, what would we measuring this out of ten?
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let's measure the amount of ten,
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, offside is yes or no, so it's not like up through interpretation here, this is an eat out of the tongue.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Ale, how do I say, I would say, she eats seven.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Okay fine, so not, not the worst.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Not the worst, seven ages, this is a little like a horrible, six, huh?
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be able to take a look at that, haha.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: So, okay, look, that's fast forward then.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: The goals, the goals given offside, the new course of players, unhappy.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: We then get Lewis Hall takes the ball down really nicely, sort of juggles into the area and is brought down and no penalty is given.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the contact fairly clear, powder S steps across him, doesn't make contact with the ball wipes him out, referees in a very good position.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: Again, another one that you feel like, if it here is there, it's still in the turn.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's still in the wall, yeah.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: Again, if I want to give some grace to the referee in the situation, he only has one angle to look at.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: And it's the first angle he gets.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: And it's maybe the worst angle if you're analyzing this, right?
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because from the way he's looking at it, maybe it looks like he initiates the contact.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it looks like he almost starts the fall before.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: But obviously, if you have VAR and you have several replays, like we have the benefit of having, you can see that.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: Paltor is completely websome out.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: Again, we continue going to VAR.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: This is why the referees need all the help they can get, man.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: We're giving them too much credit to think they can get it done in one try.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: That is another one I look at it eight out of ten again.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's a store to offer me.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I like penalty penalty.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: penalty.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: So eight out of ten.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm not going to say six, seven.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to add, for example, what made Pierre Luigi Collina, I'm great for feeling the past.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, the positioning where you're on the pitch.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: make sure that you have the best visual possible on the game on the play than it's true.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: If anything, though, because we're talking about the referee, that's one of the ones though, as well, to the Lionsman, probably has a better view of the other angle than the referee does.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: So the fact that two people couldn't get that, and in fact, even Louis Hall, I think he needs to make more out of it than he does, he needs to want his mentor yards in the air a little earlier, man.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's a stone wallet for me.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe we need the guys behind Drummer, and we used to have the seventh, right?
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we used to be behind the river.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: They're rid of that river.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, that was just a bit too.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, even them, they struggle to see me.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: I ever saw that person give a foul, by the way.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think they ever saw that.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: With that little bat on as well, some reason, like point at things, silly.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so then look, we move forward.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: So then attack all that, I think we were all in agreement that this is a...
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: And this, and there's no, for me, this one's the worst, it's so far, because Lucas Dignier flies into the tackle.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: He hits Murphy, not just high, but it's like the aggression of which he goes into the tackle, right?
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: The lines were listed right behind him.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: How that is not given as a red card.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: Shopped to me to be quite honest with you.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, as well.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: How did you say it?
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean he's lucky enough to be arrested It's all right card.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's more than a soul man.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: He takes off his shin pad after you see he's got a score running down his leg That is so blatantly a red card.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, look at Dini Hazard.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really bad Week or two you look at his defending or rather lack their rev against Ryan versus Bournemouth
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's the fending that you would see.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know in the eighth division, but then you look at this game as well too, we're going to talk about the handball on a bit We're going to talk about some of his defending or lack there of a get in this game, but that one right there that is criminal from Dinyan.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think again, how he's managed to stay on the pitch is just pure chance because
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the worst ones of the life.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: I give that one a 10 out of 10 into the bad decisions.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the strength of the tackle is what makes you say, forget that he's former Roma, by the way.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: No, I would say 10 out of 10.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Right card, you should see, but even even with the VR, sometimes at least in Italy, we saw some tackles and VR, I didn't call the
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, it should be a red bar, yes.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's screaming, I would say.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, just before halftime we get a moment of chaos of madness, I don't know how you want to describe it.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: But, I mean, whatever it is, you've got 30 seconds to halftime, and you keep it is sprinting out for the halftime.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, talk with you through the thinking there, because when I saw it, I was just like, if I'm a, if I'm a, as the developer, I'm fuming at now.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: I've never been a goalkeeper, so I can't really run you through what he was thinking, but I can just imagine right, goalkeeper sometimes have this main character syndrome where it's like, oh, play your running through on goal.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Let me be the hero here.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: And that's got to be what he was thinking, right?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to be thinking, oh, oh, like, this is like, I'm the one who has to save us here.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: But I think he completely misreads the situation.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: This guy is at half way.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand there's a potential for a 3v1, a 3v2, but I think in this situation, and it's easier for him to know because the heat of the moment, it's near to the end of the half, but you have to be able to analyze and look that he's got an entire half of the pitch to still run into.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even the second half yet.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Your team is still in the game, right?
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Let's not sabotage the entire situation here.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: The fact, the chance that you come out with that much space for him to run past you and win the ball cleanly is little to none.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I think he's completely got it wrong there.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: And again, you talk about dangerous tacos, for him.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: Just following him taking him out.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: You can break his liver, how high is that tackle?
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: And what is you thinking?
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: You're completely right.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_02]: And the thinking I had was, what's the best case scenario there, right?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: You'd bring him down and you get a yellow cub.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: But even my thinking was, you have completely jeopardized your team.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, you have completely thrown this time to, and the worst case scenario is that they go and score, and you're in again, it's one of, yeah.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: So the thinking there is complete chaos, madness.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not just that you've brought him down when he's from goal.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's also that it's a really reckless tackle.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: He gets Murphy on the knee with the tackle and then the game's completely flipped.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: But in the second half, Ale, I want to talk about one man that you know very well, Sandra Tinnole, because for me, he then grabs hold of that game and he changes it for the better.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me about how you see Sandra Tinnole now in modern football and where he stands.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, off-camera, I say to you, if you don't go to the World Cup with Sandrotonale and the Mildo, it would be a crime against the game.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Sandrotonale, of course, could benefit of the Premier League, increases level a lot playing for in the Premier League.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: The Premier League moved, was the right one frame, because, of course, he had some personal
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: and the Newcastle environment, the Premier League, but I would say also the English culture protected him.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: In Italy, it would be destroyed.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: For example, I was watching the game in Komo last weekend and Nikola Fajali was involved in the same story at a bad reputation.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: People understand telling him bad stuff.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, if you're in team, I want them.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: It was playing away.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I think in that sense, the Premier League was the best option for him.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: I actually think it's forgotten largely that I don't even think about it anymore.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the greatness of the mentality, for example, in England.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I would say if I was Sandro Tonali and I was looking for a...
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: A possible move next summer, I would push to stay in the Premier League.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, because it's really difficult thinking that there is a team that can afford the fee to sign something.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: And because if you want to grow now, as we say many times, you need to stay, you need to play in the Premier League.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you have the option to go, ask them, all Manchester United, I would go for it.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: The room is in January, weren't they?
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they were interesting, some of the United States and I think it's in a hurry.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: There's one last game that sort of controversy I want to talk to you about, and it is including your man-looker-dinner again.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: So the handball, let's talk about it.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: There's a crossing to the area.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't you get his arm up and an unnatural position?
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: You never leaves the area in the entire movement, in the entire attack, there's no moment where Dini's at, and then it gets given as a free kick outside the area.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: This for me is the single
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: They did not VAR, not at all.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, man.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think even if LVAR, this is just shambalically.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: VAR never existed, and this still happens.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: You're looking at the referee and saying, are you partially blind?
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's so far in the box.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: The players can't believe it.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: The fans can't believe it.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe it.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's unimaginable how you can interpret that situation so poorly.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: What do they say about all that?
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: They ended up grabbing the Gorrigardless, even the spite that.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: But again, I mean, Newcastle had everything going against them this year.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: And they still managed to pull through.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's just a scenario, then.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: And two great strikes from, I mean, he gets lucky with the first one.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: But Sandra tonight, the second one is, is excellent.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, Newcastle kind of pulled through.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I think the lingering question after this weekend was just where is VAR now and where is this debate?
- 13:07[SPEAKER_02]: When we're talking about VAR now, does a game like this justify use further into the tournament or does it justify losing it all together and having referees take more responsibility again?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, for example, I would say in the FAQ, if you have VR in the latest rounds, you should have, since the beginning, because otherwise you are playing to the friend competition.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, it's like,
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's difficult.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: I am I'm a pro VR to be fair.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like the use.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: We are making a VR.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: For example, it's like if you need to spend eight, nine minutes to judge a situation.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: So basically you're looking for something and that's something is not that relevant to the game.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: So if it's something clear, is it something evident?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: This is the VR size.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: clear and evident mistake, and then I can jump and support you.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: If every action of the game, you need to look for something, then you're basically compromising the natural of the game.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: I, while I agree, Leiaz, what I want to say is, we've had this now for several years, and we're still talking about clearing obvious.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: We're still talking about them using it correctly, referees across different countries using it correctly.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: Is it just the case that
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: We're never going to get them.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: We should be thinking about life beyond VIA, we'll bring AI referees when it's serious, so we need a robot to ensure that there's something like that.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Jay, I wouldn't put anything past to me, give Elon Musk enough money to find something, but yeah, for me, look, the whole conversation on VIA is always so interesting to me.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: It staggers me how people can look at referees about it, then look at referees with it and point to the technology being the issue.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: That boggles my mind.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: The referees already have a tough enough job without the technology.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: Then when you add the technology on top of that, they're still struggling albeit a little less.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: In my mind, there's a common denominator here, and it's that the referees just are not the level required.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you look at a game like today,
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's capable of being many games throughout a season without technology.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Hell, we saw football for the previous 100 years.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: It was like that quite often.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: The issue comes where the game and the momentum starts to get halted and eventually ruined because the decisions take too long.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: Take the bar side, let's take the game the other day where they're taking 10 minutes to analyze where the level of loss was off side.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's where we start to get ridiculous.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm sorry, you look at the game that's just got played.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: And this is just one game.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: We can even talk about the inter game, which I'm sure we'll do in a bit.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: the mistakes that we're seeing aren't happening with VR.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: Let's call it what it is.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a perfect solution, but it is far better than what we have about them in my opinion.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, now sometimes I really think they never play football, because even we've had a flexion and you see the spin of the ball changing.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is clear, if you play football, if you have the common sense, if you breathe and leave football, and sometimes you have this feeling that they are completely,
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, incompetent, let's call what it is.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, let's use the word, Robert.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: But some of the decisions we're watching with our eyes are clearly incompetent.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: For example, the penalty of Vila Park.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's just how, it's like you completely change the way you're from freeing.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's like NBA, okay, you kick the ball from that point.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Then I'm gonna give the free kick.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, look, I mean, the only thing I'll say is, beyond this game in the FA Cup,
- 16:28[SPEAKER_02]: Mansfield Town get a famous winner, Burley.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was a beautiful, quick, free kick to win it.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: I also love the Grizzby Town pitch against Wolves all chopped up, they left it all my deep thoughts.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: There was still a lot of that, no worry around me, whatever the grill was got.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: So the Grizzby's still hot.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: There's still a lot of love for the FA Cup, and there's still a, like, I do, I actually like that the not having very are to be honest.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: I enjoy it, not having to.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I'm keeping the final then.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's all the final, yeah.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's good.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I'm pro that.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: But then you get things like this, and it reminds me that we have taken the emphasis off of referees.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I don't know how I feel about that to be honest having VAR in the latter stages, but not in the earlier stages That makes no sense to me.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna lie.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think if you're gonna have it throughout the like at any point in the tournament It has to be implemented from the start and I understand they don't have the technology at lower grounds, but then
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: say no vr for the entire ethic of it doesn't make sense that at some point in the tournament then it gets introduced and then we start playing a fair game that makes in those what so before you can get away with nonsense but then after the quarter finals all of a sudden we start officiating a little different I agree though I'll get rid of it I'll get rid of it in the FA cup and just say look if we can't have it in the earlier rounds we can't have it it's kind of you all for me it's got to be only nothing on the topic of the FA cup though I'm not gonna lie it like
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: I find that it is losing a little bit of its spark, whether that's due to the massive chasm and financial disparity between the Premier League and the lower leagues or the fact that replays I've been abolished.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: I do feel like that little spark of it is starting to disappear and I know you still have of course the crystal palaces, but crystal palaces and to be fair they were crushed out early by a non league side but for the most part I just feel like it's becoming more and more predictable regarding the top sides like
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: At the end of the semi-final, it'll be by chance that we get a side outside of the traditional top six, which I'm starting to kind of dislike, because the FA Cup should still be about those memorable dayouts for the smaller sides.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: I get to go to a primary league stadium, or get to go to a big town and perform.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think that side of the FA Cup is starting to,
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: disappear a little bit.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but if you if you compare it with the other national cap, yeah, still still fantastic.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because the smaller club, lower the vision, they have the chance, the right to dream.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it's something that is not possible.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: For example, you need to, yeah, I mean, we saw some interesting stuff, even with the Albasated.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, certainly.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: It happens, it happens quite often you get a few of those stocks, yeah.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, but for me, Steela, I'm a magical tournament, I would say.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: You even, the despite everything we saw this weekend.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I love the effect, but yeah, just for me, the takeaway replays, I think, killed it for a few of those clubs.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so another game that went on this weekend, I like that I'm sure you had to close
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: It was the Derby Detalea five goals, a late winner, refereeing decision that kind of swallowed the entire match in the end.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: What did you make of it, Ale?
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: Let me start by the positive notes.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's positive.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: Finally, finally, there's hope for a striker for the future for the national team.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: I really scored a great header, you know, remind me of Christian Vieri and the Golden Era.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: So let me start by positive.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: and another note unfortunately, I wouldn't say with him blame just a day of year, okay, was a clear mistake, it wasn't a red, but the reaction of Bastoni celebrating a red card when you clearly try to take advantage of a situation, it's not an example, the English Inter-Inter-Uventus was the second game
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: in terms of revenue in serial history, eight million.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: So you need to respect the people, you need to respect the foodable, and respect yourself.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: Respect yourself, probably.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, I understand the best one is a good guy.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's a really good guy, but sometimes from the pitch, I would say, let me go back to something cultural.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: When you're young, when you're in a cadmine Italy, the manager is going to say to you, hey, if you feel the touch, you die.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't happen here, it's bad looking, because probably Inter-Uventus is the most important game and the most important brand that Syriak can export to the world, people were watching and if you see that, if you see one of the key players of your national team doing that, probably it's not going to tell me.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a stain on the league to be honest with you.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm completely agree, right?
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think Saria is a league that over the last 10 or so years has deteriorated from a worldwide cultural view.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: It is a fantastic league in terms of the history, the culture, the heritage, the names of the big sides, but in terms of how they're trying to sell their product, it's a league that has drastically fell behind the pack ahead of them, the likes of the Premier League, of course, more than any.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: So as correctly pointed out,
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: Interversus UVA is the D game.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's not intermediate Milan.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: This is the two sides.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it'll probably hate each other the most bar.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: What made you roll my nuts yo, right?
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: So a game like this, the beta board, right?
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: But a game like this, this is one of the games where you have the chance to have a lot of the eyes around the world on you, especially Inter flying in the league, UVA trying to to to to make top four of Speletti now in charge.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people are watching this game.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: No Premier League is well too.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I got a huge opportunity in my opinion to sell your league.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: And you have Bastoni, one of the best
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: players in the league, one of the best defenders in the world, celebrating after blatantly getting away with cheating.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: I would like to see Bustoni suspended or punished in some way, shape or form from the Italian FA.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think he deserves it, because there's no, okay, cheating in the game happens, that I think it happens, but to celebrate that.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: So to take joy in the fact that you've got a way of murder for me is poor and everything is the word.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, now there's a storm in Italy because people want one team suspended by the national team.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: The national team may be at a little too far.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what they're asking.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's like if that's how strong they feel.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if Gatuza is going to call, if Baston is going to be on the list for the national team for the playoff.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: We are not going to support that that that was the reaction Well negative reaction Bastoni and it's wife they have to close the comments on on the social provides to him because they they insult that then that is something that is exaggerating Yeah, we're going to talk about it before again We are saying is bad is a bad example You shouldn't do that but you have a life you have children and you should be able to continue leaving your life
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because you should never cost a line because it's food, but that's the thing with these two clubs That's why I said like for it to happen in this game in particular You know this as well as anyone out of the history these two clubs have against each other Especially when it comes to referring decisions Yes, and it's deep everyone's been especially after Kalshopoli in 2006 when when Juventus were really negated for what happened and Inter was celebrating basically They got us coup d'etat from Juventus
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's called the David Italia because they are probably the most successful now.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: They are the most successful team in Italy, are on San Milan and the rivalry is huge.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, look, for context here, but best only, those past Calulu, he was on a yellow card.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: And the video all by the way, in the first place.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: Are you sure that he was in a yellow card on the first place?
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not a yellow card.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, no, exactly.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: He's on a pretty suspect yellow card.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, we are caught into him because it's his second yellow card.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: And then that loophole basically decides what is a title-level match.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: It moves into clear, top of the league.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: The referee has already come out and said, I got it wrong.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: And that kind of tells you how bad it is that how quickly the referee's wanted to get in front of it and say, look, we've got that one wrong.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: But it does, again, throw into sort of debate.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: One this loophole which has always kind of blown my mind if it's for red card and why if we're not You know what it is, all right.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to now over officiate the game and now it's cool thing looks like you have to look at every single decision Yeah, we are at some point you want to give the referees the chance to do their job, right, but
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: When they're being given the chance and still making decisions of this magnitude it's like them Do we just need to give the entire game to somebody on a computer and they can decide the game for us?
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: And especially in a game like that, given the importance of the game is on a yellow, if you need to read the game You need to read the game before giving a second yellow, it needs to be a proper yellow, not that that's not enough
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: Especially because the game was so frantic at the start, right?
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you make equalized right before the red card if you look at down the other end Inter get an amazing save from digregorial Yeah, then Locatelli clears it off the off the line on to the post then it hits the other post you vagal the other it's it's all happening And it was a good game.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: So it was a good game
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the referee, and that moment has to be the most mature head here.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: He has to be the one to make sure that, well, everything is frantic, uncommon.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he fell into the emotion again.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: This is exactly, this is exactly my feeling that a player lost confidence in the referee on the pitch.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, it used to be, you could feel a referee who was controlling the game.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's like, okay, they are there, but probably the real referee is happening in the Vierro.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, ultimately, as you both have pointed out, the game was still good, and even after the red card we had quality goals, we had moments brilliant play from both teams, I mean, who stood out to you all, from both sides.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: I would say, I mean, Peo, and if I jarred the whole situation, I need to highlight the work that Keeva was done with Piozzel Jeliski, because it was a player basically out of the rotation on the Simon Inzagi, it was a crucial player for Napoli.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: And now it's back, the season is one of the best player in the inter.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: And bringing the extra queued of quality in the midfield.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: What I'll say is, well, too, I think that perfectly sums up the work Kivu has done.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: Because in Zagia, as brilliant a job as he did at the inter, it was the same 11 every single week.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the same players are going to play and also, there's no chance for any youngsters to come through.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I think he highlights it perfectly, as opposed to his perfect encapsulation of Kivu giving youngsters a chance.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: in Zelensky's perfect encapsulation of Kivu willing to look past the McItarian, Barella, what's his name, the Turkish guy, Charalov, he's finally willing to look past that trio that in Zagin ever looks past and give someone a suggestion.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, and look at what Zelensky who wins it in this fight with a great strike, not in the first minute I believe.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: And ultimately, that's the game done.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: But the real consequences of that red card mean that Inter go 8 points clear, obviously Milan have a game in hand, but Juventus slipped further away from them.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: And ultimately, now you're looking at what looks like, at least on paper, fairly clear run to the Skodeta for Inter Milan.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would say the other best team in Italy.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's like Napoli are completely different from last season because we, it's what we're seeing with Milan, us, let me cause you as a marina, as you say marina says, it's like football with one game per week, it's another sport because you have the time to prepare.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's, Comte was really clever last season.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: when he had the offer from Milan, for example, to choose Napoli, because immediately understood the potential of the squad, and with one game per week, Conte is great, and it's basically what we are seeing with our legacy season, of course, in the other, still the best team in in Syria, but I'm really surprised with what Ki was done.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: Especially, but you see there, they are the best team, I think.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: But at the same time, too, this is the first big rivalry game that they've won.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Every other game against their so-called rivals, Milan, Napoli, Yuvay and the first meeting between the two of them, they felt to win, and even in this game, they didn't massive help from their referee.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: So it's good as Inter have been.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: I can't look past the decision in this game because I don't know if a love in V. 11, they necessarily beat the voters.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: I want to give a huge shout out as well to the Locatelli.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: Was the spying on the losing side probably the best player on the pitch?
- 28:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: I would say yes.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's getting back to the level of some 2021 when we was one of the main men in the Euro.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: In the Euro we need to say something, we need to say something that, and the Spaletti, you've been to us, it's completely changed.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: Spaletti is trying to build something important and for me.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_00]: especially signing Canonial Dits until 2020.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: 2030 is a statement to Italian football, also to all the rumours, to the European competitors.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we want to build around Canonial Dits and with Spalletti, probably, you went to...
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be able to compete for the title next season, but if I'm Milan, I'm looking at this game in particular and saying, wow, I feel like that is just a dagger on it's like we've done as well as possible.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: No one would have imagined they'd be in the race for the scuttle this year.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't necessarily look at Milan this year, buying a 40-year-old motherage and bringing a legary from
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: from the, from obscurity, not obscurity, right?
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: But bring them back from the wilderness.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't expect them year one to be challenging the way they are.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: They've done well.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: But again, they need all the help they can get and these decisions are just, it's a, it's a killer for them.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: I was predicted, I predicted Milan to be in there, but yeah, but just because it's like, Allegedly.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: And one game per week, this manager in Serial, they knows how to do it.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think the big difference as well too, from Inzagi to Takivu, when I loved Inzagi, I actually doubted Kivu.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Kivu would struggle of inter-the-season have been completely wrong.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: But you look at the amount of goals they've scored, 60 compared to the nearest competitor being 43.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the side of the game where he's elevated from Inzagi.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's made them a much more potent attacking team.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: Next up, let's talk about Real Madrid.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: They won 4-1 weekend against where I was supposed to see that.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: It was a very convincing win against a team that hadn't lost the game since December, a brilliant new manager balance, but it got on before that.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_02]: And they go top of La Liga.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, LA was just a kind of a reminder to Barcelona that he only ever won game away now in this Toto Ritz.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: This is exactly what we were saying.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: When this sack shall be alone, so there's not difference, it's like,
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: There is a difference in this realm of greed.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: You can see that the player free on the pitch, you can see that after a while, Vinny Shes Jr is having fun of the pitch and when Vinny Shes Jr has fun of the pitch, your chances to win a game of football are way higher.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I would say.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: Feet of Albert, they are brilliant.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: Trent is back.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: huge performance and now it's intriguing because it's right.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: For me, Barcelona keep conceding and we saw it with against a athletic imagery.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: If you face a team who are squalid, you're front, then it's going to be complicated, conceding all those chances.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned Trent,
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and yeah, as I want to talk about him because ultimately it was a game that for Premier League fans who watched him pull a lot It was reminiscent, but to talk to me about what he brought to that very Madrid so I didn't know he can Quality man honestly that right foot is a wand Right foot is a one and it's something they've absolutely been missing.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think Real Madrid the biggest issue they have is their midfield in my opinion in terms of they are just not great I can troll in a game.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you have a natural
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: past master in that midfield.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: They're missing a Tony Crosse and that's not to say trend can play in midfield because I don't believe you can.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's not to say trend is the new Tony Crosse because I don't believe he is, but he brings them a level of quality on the ball that I think will vote him.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: This round Madrid teams sorely misses.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: They have a lot of players that can do different things, but none of them provide
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: the quality on the ball that he has and his feel for the game as well too his is is is intelligence when he gets into those attacking positions to pick out passes that people don't even think about let alone pull off i think it just adds a level of clasterial Madrid and something they've severely been missing because when you have a player like that that can find the runs of him bapie that can find the runs of Trent that can uh of viney excuse me that can put the ball on on a dime for all three of you wants to he has every pass
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: in his arsenal.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a different level, and I think it's a reminder as well to people, because he has been injured this season, and in football, you're only as good as your last game, but don't forget the quality that this guy possesses, because when he's on it, you can talk what is defensive awareness, you can talk about his one-on-one defending, but the quality he gives you on the ball is one-on-one.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: One of one.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we saw that, didn't we?
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: With the bouffeur, Gonzalo Castillo, I love all four balls.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, every one of the goals you can see, he has a part of the
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, as a striker, you just want to move on to the board.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_02]: Ale, you want to walk on to it.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: It was a bit, I mean, no, we're not in it.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: But remind me of when Beckham and Ronaldo first started making you up at Real Madrid, do you remember that?
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: And he'd just be putting it into these areas.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_02]: And now I would just be walking on to it.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_02]: A beautiful ball for that first goal.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was also a great finishing.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, lovely finishing.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but he's got a lot to do.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not that don't take it if you're still got a lot to do.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: At first, that kind of boy is a nightmare for the defenders, because it's like he cut your lines off.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I would say it's like, first of all, I'm not surprised.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: Let me go, because it's like, if Trent signed for Real Madrid, it's because you already showed these in a, was able to show it in the Premier League.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not surprising.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy to see his back on his level.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_00]: And considering that La Liga gives you more time to play the ball, it really suits him as a player.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_00]: Because,
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: he asked that extra second for think and then to deliver the beautiful passes.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think what he brings is he brings this ability to what he steps into the middle.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: He makes it difficult for teams to sort of come out and meet you because if you leave any space he can kill you one pass, right?
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you saw that, it's difficult.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: You have to defend with quickly, you can't step out if there's any sort of break in your press, he will find that ball.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_02]: And like you said, he's involved in every element that was good.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_02]: But, Sossi said, Sossi did find that way back into this game by a penalty that was really unnecessary.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: Dean Oyster.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Oyster, I think he's had good moments around Madrid.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think he said moments that remind you that he's still a young boy that is only really in his what third season playing at this level regularly, right?
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: He had that year at Oralmai, he's had that year at Bournemouth and I always had Real Madrid.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's a real sudden search for him and I think he's had a few moments where it's like,
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: Back to reality.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: There is a talent there on the ball.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's such a special player But yeah, he's had a few moments for how I'm going to drink this season where I think laps of concentration lack of Laps of judgment from him and then unfortunately social dead for it.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, for two for him, social dead get back in the against Well, something really so from boom.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think it's just that thing of the pressure to fend him for him?
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, but there's a lot of instability at Realman's role to play a meeting.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's played with different partners this season at times he's been out of the line of he's playing under second coach this year.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's a it's difficult man.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: And this is why always
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: think it's you have to be hesitant when you're comparing players who play for we've all do respect the clubs of the size of born myth and then comparing it to a player playing for Real Madrid because they're playing two different sports they're playing two different galaxies at the moment so it's definitely welcome to life but I think he's a fantastic player and I have no doubt over the years I'll grow.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: Watching him in Syria I would say Ace excess of confidence sometimes he thinks okay I'm going to get this ball
- 36:02[SPEAKER_00]: And as he said, defending for a team like Real Madrid or defending for a team controlling the game, it's completely different because you need to be always wished on and ready to take the best decision in the fewest chance you can see to your opponent.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I saw sometimes when it was playing for Roma, for example,
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: either the same thing in a dubbing the Copa Italia and Romalos one in and they were kicked out of the Copa Italia.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's not the only one stronger.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Barney as a PS2.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's a really, really tough time at PS2, so it's just, there's a little of those two.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's why not everyone who goes to a big club after succeeding somewhere else necessarily works out because you're just playing at a different standard, no honestly.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then look, we'd do what elite teams do and they kill the game in 10 minutes, right?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: Venetius wins a penalty, scores the penalty, and then another player wants to talk about Ferdie Valverde, Benz in a unbelievable finish, like a beat really, really beautiful finish.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: And there's something about his technique, his ability to hit the ball both feet, the power he's able to generate from both feet.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's a special ability, isn't it?
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's got the best striking technique in the world,
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's hit with venom.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: It hits it like he hates the ball, but then he hits it as well.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: Two of his certain level of accuracy.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like he's just smashing it.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: He just strikes it so purely like this is and you look at the soil outside for Liverpool as well.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're kind of bringing back the feeling of players.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: having the the the whits about them to shoot from anywhere on the pitch.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a dying art because in a game now that is so defined by efficiency and what's the best percentage shot in the game you're seeing less and less shots from distance but these two restore that feeling of when Cristiano Ronaldo or Gerard used to look up and just hit it from 40 yards.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: And hey, am I going to the end of the stand, but sometimes you get special moments like that, I'm afraid they're not that special because they happen quite often.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can listen to that sound and maybe people can question myself, can question you, by remember when I was, I, I, I charted with Ed and Azad in the past with Jacob, and when we ask, who is the best?
- 38:07[SPEAKER_00]: When when he comes to shooting, he said we doubt any towns fed about it.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's technique.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's had some screamers in his ear.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think we've got a resume of his goal throughout his career.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, man.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_02]: He's picked up a gariff palace, sort of a go-kart of his way.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but even in the past and last week, Real Madrid posted a...
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: A reel on, I think, kicking to, oh, yeah, the different finishes.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the fee for inspiration.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_02]: But that tells you about the technique that he has available, right?
- 38:34[SPEAKER_02]: We're not just talking about someone who's putting them through the ball and he has a brilliant straight strike.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, every strike.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: One player that was really enjoying himself in the second half was a veniceous junior.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: A player that, as you mentioned earlier, kind of a bit more freedom in this team.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: He wins two penalties.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: He takes two penalties.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: but he's kind of his fingerprints all over this game, right?
- 38:55[SPEAKER_02]: And you really see, you see what a bit of freedom for play like that can do.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think if you look at this game and you look at the way he was positioned, he played today, we're killing him about the usually placed Real Madrid.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: He played in a front to alongside Gonzalo Garcia.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't isolated on the left-hand side like on the touch line forced to always dribble in and have to be players.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you looked at his heat map, compared to the average killing him about the heat map for Real Madrid,
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: they played in the same areas of the pitch.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: They don't do the same job, they do their business very, very differently, but they occupy the same positions.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that ultimately comes down to why I personally don't think Vinicius and Ambape will ever be at their best individually while they play together because they end up stepping on each other's toes.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: And one of them inevitably has to sacrifice for the other to thrive.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I think this is why Vinicius Jr.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: He played in a very similar role today that he played in that Champions League
- 39:48[SPEAKER_01]: win that they had a few seasons back where he was about to contender where he was playing in a front to next to Rodrigo.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the best version of this year's because like you said he has the freedom to come centrally occupied positions in the box, run out players if you want to drift out wide.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: When he has the plays and out and out natural winger that's not the excuse and say it's all in Bapage Shaw.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think he isn't as effective as when he's playing this role and has a bit more freedom centrally.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_00]: I agree and I think mentally
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the Venetian needs to feel is the technical leader of the squad, and the Muppet presence of it's like, okay, now I need to adapt.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: I want to play with him, but it's me adapting to how he plays.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it's also, you know, it's food boys.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's matter of hierarchy, and at the end, it's like Venetians are already proven, he's a relative player, ready to want Champions League title being a leader of this squad.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think as well, too, though, you've got to give credit to Arbaloa because sometimes in football, it's as simple
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: make players feel like they belong and they will perform for you.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: I got into the day happy players that is a brilliant player under Alonso.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: There was clearly a breakdown in a relationship, a breakdown in trust.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: The two of them didn't get on.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I think our below a may not be as accomplished and manager as Alonso.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: May not be as technically brilliant as Alonso.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: But one thing he has understood is
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: Real Madrid performs best when their players are happy and he's got an atmosphere on site and he's ripping the rewards of it Well, it's something that Phil Jones has spoken about on here before Isn't it?
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: He said that some some teams need to be managed.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_02]: Someone needs to be coach.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, some just need to be sort of told You're good at what you do go out there and make it happen and I'll but I took took the opportunity after the game to kind of praise some of the players Yeah, for just the freedom that they play with the play with the ball.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think one of those was Trent and we said
- 41:27[SPEAKER_02]: I won't say he surprised me, but he seems like a very intelligent lad who understands the game well and quickly grasp what we want from him.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's not your typical fallback, he's always going to be wide, he can play centrally, we're lucky to have a player like that.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's quite a different statement to what we were hearing about Trent even two months ago where there was
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: and be at rumours from Spanish newspapers that he was maybe not going to be at the club very long.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: Can we do that?
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: A similarity between Michael Carrick and I'm sure he's there.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't want to make him a United guy.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_00]: So it's me.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_00]: So you can we do a similarity because we saw these managers like, okay, I know.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: what was this club is about.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I know what I need to provide to this place.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's not about me, it's about Real Madrid.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_00]: In that case, it's about Manchester United and we said it, that's the main credit we need to give to Alvarado Baroque because he understood the moment and he perfectly knew what he had to do to fight for the title.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see Real Madrid going that far in the Champions League then we never know.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: And so we are there.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_00]: We are competing.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_00]: And they know that Barcelona are beautiful to watch, but it's also a fantastic roller coaster.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_02]: One last point on the game then.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_02]: As a bow came out afterwards and said that he wasn't particularly happy with both the penalties that were given.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: He said that referring has got too soft.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: in elements.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we talk about a fifth year.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know, but I just want, I'm always intrigued to just understand what you guys thought of the penalties for me, the both penalties.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think the second one, maybe you can, if you want to be cynical, you can save an SES initiates the contact a little bit, and if you want to be cynical, but I think both occasions of the fenders on the wrong side, reaching out, is in a poor position positionally, it's you can't complain.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's very cheeky for R's about to come out and say that both of them shouldn't be penalty.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: penalties, most of them.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, good.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_02]: We're with referees now.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're gone by twice.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_02]: We're not just doing.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_02]: Not just it's hot to ruin them.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think every time it's it's been issues the opponent's try to to make it about yeah, to make about it about both.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, have you seen Gonzalo Garcia's goals per minute ratio and the league of the season?
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's absolutely sensational.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, it's funny all his goals, I think, came when in Bapies a lot of the pitch, but it's something to be said about.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: his finishing and again his instincts.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: I said it on Twitter.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to know your thoughts.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: I said he comes from the same school of thought of the anxieties in terms of he's not the most technically brilliant player but his nose for goal and his finishing bag is very, very sharp for a player of that age and I don't think it's something you can teach.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think that kind of fox in the box instincts is something you're born with.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, I agree.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_00]: Even the first goal, the way the top, even the way you ran south towards, you remind me of people, yeah.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's Africans, but here's, I mean, like three, yeah, yeah, provocatric and, yeah, it's finished.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's so like, it's just instinctive.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, love that person and bored, honestly.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: So, it's time for power rankings.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: And what I want from you, you too, is your MVP for the season.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_02]: I want your favorites for the MLS Cup.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_02]: I want your dark courses.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_02]: and what your top score is, and Ale, let's start with you.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, spin that board.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: And interestingly, least.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_00]: That means one of the biggest.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: Is your MVP for this season?
- 44:44[SPEAKER_00]: Is my MVP.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_00]: Walk app season.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna feel those vibes, those world gap vibes.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's the 12 13 Countries going to play in.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_00]: So it's gonna, I think it's gonna feel it.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: And as I said, for me, Colombia, I'm gonna play a good walk-up and it's gonna be great.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: So, okay, Leah's over to you.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_02]: Who's your MVP for the season?
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: I've gone boring, man.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: I've gone boring, I've gone unpredictable, I've gone classic.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: I've gone go bad, messy, man.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: Messy is gonna, it's the boring answer, it's the answer everyone knows, but I just think, especially, you talk about the World Cup coming ahead.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: who better to come in to that tournament in form, in shape, in the right mentality, then Lil Messi, I think he's going to take this MLS season extremely seriously in order to arrive for the tournament in the best way possible, and I think unfortunately for the rest of MLS, they will feel his wrath yet again.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_02]: Okay then, so if that's the best player in the league for the season, who is your favourite for the MLS Cup?
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna win it.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: I wrote down Vancover, they started building last season and for me, they can make it this season.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's simple as that.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little boring, it's a little unpredictable.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not the overwhelming favorites as they were the season prior in Inter Miami.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of the talk being around the fact that they've lost boots, they've lost Alba, Louis Suarez is becoming less and less of a presence.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_01]: But I think when you look at the recruitment this summer, or rather this off season, I think they've added well.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think they've added a lot of youth as well too.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: And when you have messy who's coming towards the end of his career and isn't running as much, you want to surround the guy like that with legs.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they've done a good job of that.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: Reggie on coming in, Berthame coming up front as well, to Mexican international, so I think they've added well.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, interesting.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_02]: So there's going to be the two that go to the distance.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to sort of unset with the pat then?
- 46:32[SPEAKER_02]: Who are our dark horses?
- 46:34[SPEAKER_02]: Ale, you go first.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: Consistency, I mean the saucer united.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, Hammis Rodriguez sparking those Sock vibes in the old city, and I would say they can do well.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm curious.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, look, it's a hell of a signing, isn't it?
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a signing.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: If he's gonna do well, the squad for sure is gonna benefit.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: Mm, absolutely.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_02]: Huge signing for them.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: How about Elias?
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: Who have you come for?
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've gone for a club that I've made another huge signing themselves.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's San Jose with team of
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like so long ago, but there was a period where he was one of the most fearful scores in Europe when he was of RB Leipzig the first time, and obviously since then, the move to Chelsea, the move to spurs, the return to Leipzig, hasn't gone his way.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_01]: Werner is a confident player.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's a player that needs to feel love, and I think coming to MLS at this point is career is the perfect move for him.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's coming with an experienced coach in Bruce Arena as well, two of San Jose.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think they could make a little bit of an upset.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think actually I would look at Team Overnor as someone who could really score goals at this level.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: I completely agree.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_02]: Bit more space, space to run into and like he's day in, even though his finishing is sometimes let's say inconsistent to be nice.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: If he gets the space, he will score a ton of goals.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_02]: Right, that leaves us quite nicely on to then.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to score a ton of goals?
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: Who is going to win the goal of it?
- 47:48[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to score the most goals in MLS this season?
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's unreal.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's hard to look past the visit.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, especially in the first part of the season, it's like a Michael Jordan version before the East Las Dents in the World Cup, and I would say it's going to be great.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: Oh God, there's got to be a documentary on the rise and there, and I can't leave as happy going forward.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't gone for a messy actually, although that's probably the obvious choice.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: I've gone for a young man's son when you talk about finishing, when you talk about nose for a goal, when you talk about love for the right foot headers.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: Youngman's son is the complete goalscorer, not the same as he is, but I have a feeling that youngman's son and his second season in MLS now will really find the back of the net at a crazy rate, I'd go for a youngman's son.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: And he looks as he's enjoying himself, so 100% yeah, look, he hit the ground running for LFC last year and there's absolutely no reason for the full year that he can't go and when it all to be honest, he'll be right up there.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, interesting.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for those guys, and thank you for watching.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_02]: If you've enjoyed, make sure to come back next week, we'll be the same place, same time, and we'll see you there.
