  SPEAKER_01: I know Santa Josh is gonna bring, and it's so exciting.

  SPEAKER_01: I know, and and happy D23 to those who celebrate all the major Disney holidays, like July 17th and December 5th, and October 1st.

  SPEAKER_02: This is a big one, and this is Josh's first big one.

  SPEAKER_02: And so I think it's I'm kind of curious, but I have some thoughts.

  SPEAKER_01: I'm kind of hoping he has to like overcompensate for the fact that this is his first one, and he's gonna wanna, you know, go, hey, I'm the new kid in charge, and this is what's gonna happen here.

  SPEAKER_02: It's that he's gonna play it a little safe because you know we'll see what happens, but I I do want to say this before we get into it.

  SPEAKER_02: First of all, so thrilled that you're going with our podcast correspondent, Kimberly, we'll call her.

  SPEAKER_02: Yes, and uh, you guys are gonna have such a great time and run into every person that I listen to on the internet.

  SPEAKER_01: And it is, and it's Kimberly's well, it's Kimberly's first trip to Disneyland, first of all.

  SPEAKER_02: That's also very exciting.

  SPEAKER_01: On top of it, for I mean, we're doing that for three days, including D23 Day at Disneyland, and then her first her first desk or her first uh ultimate fan event.

  SPEAKER_01: So I'm excited.

  SPEAKER_01: It's it well, and it's been nuts.

  SPEAKER_01: I mean, this week, you have you heard any of the controversies over people's panels and the ASV or the RSV or the BDC or whatever it is that we it's all it's chaotic how that is all going down, honestly.

  SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, I don't know.

  SPEAKER_01: I because I have not participated in a in a D23 Ultimate fan thing that I still call the Expo since Jackie and I were talking.

  SPEAKER_01: I guess the last one we went to was 2017.

  SPEAKER_01: So pre-pandemic.

  SPEAKER_01: And it was such a mess trying to get into the panels that we were like, why would we do this?

  SPEAKER_01: Especially once we did destination D23 in Florida.

  SPEAKER_01: And it was like we just had a seat for everything, and they put little figments on our chairs and went, here you go, have some merch.

  SPEAKER_01: Um, but but you know, with the switch to the Honda Center and now this, you know, I I hate to say it because I know a lot of people are unhappy, but I mean, the three of us each put in for four things.

  SPEAKER_01: So I guess we we asked for 12 things and a couple things that were really important, we put on a couple people's lists.

  SPEAKER_01: But of those, I got three things.

  SPEAKER_01: Kimberly got three and Jackie got two, and only one of those was a duplicate.

  SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.

  SPEAKER_01: So, but I was glad to see then that Disney has a system in place where starting tomorrow, which I'm sure will break the internet, you can go in and release the reservations that you don't want for panels and hopefully pick up a couple that you do.

  SPEAKER_01: And then there's the insane people online who are like, Yeah, I put down that I'm bringing my five guests so that I can just trade with strangers and I'll take them to things that I have that they want and they'll take me.

  SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, wow, that's a lot.

  SPEAKER_02: It's the bizarre lightning lane of D23s.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, that's that's crazy.

  SPEAKER_01: Um, we'll be boots on the ground telling you how it goes.

  SPEAKER_02: I'm excited to hear all of all about this, but I I do want to say this, and you know, I'm known for tangents on occasion, but on occasion before we get into the art predictions, I I do want to actually take a step back and talk about something that I think we're uh as Disney fans, we're all guilty of, myself included.

  SPEAKER_02: We can't just enjoy anything because we always have to know what's next.

  SPEAKER_02: And I think it's a it's a problem because, like, so we'll get a new attraction, and before we've even ridden it five times, we're asking, okay, but what's coming after this?

  SPEAKER_02: And yes, and you know, a new land opens, and instead of just enjoying the land and the atmosphere, the details, the characters, whatever, we're already looking at permits and construction walls, like three years down the road to be like, oh, what's next?

  SPEAKER_02: And I just I think we we see in like even in what like one of the shows, we're like, okay, this is great, but how long is it going to last?

  SPEAKER_02: And we when is it gonna get a refurbishment?

  SPEAKER_02: And what are they gonna do next time?

  SPEAKER_02: And like I said, absolutely guilty of this.

  SPEAKER_02: And it's just so much part of being a Disney fan right now that like we're so plugged into every announcement and every rumor and every piece of concept art that we will stare at over and over again, trying to find every little detail.

  SPEAKER_01: People poured over that logo for this G23, looking at those characters and what do they mean?

  SPEAKER_01: And what's this mean?

  SPEAKER_01: And I just I think yes.

  SPEAKER_01: Well, I I think it means that they're gonna have some Disney associated stuff at this thing, and don't try to.

  SPEAKER_01: I don't think they're trying to be Nostradamus and with their poster, but maybe they are.

  SPEAKER_01: Maybe there are subtle master damas, and there might there might be masterdoms.

  SPEAKER_02: I just think, and I don't know, maybe you're with me on this.

  SPEAKER_02: I think we've created this like culture where we're constantly looking, you know, over the horizon.

  SPEAKER_02: And I I sometimes wonder and if if what would happen if Josh just went on stage and said, All right, guys, just enjoy what we have.

  SPEAKER_02: Seriously, just go home, enjoy the parks, enjoy the attractions.

  SPEAKER_02: I just I like obviously it's never gonna happen because this is Disney and D23.

  SPEAKER_02: The whole point is to celebrate it, and it's a great event and to always make us wonder what's coming next.

  SPEAKER_02: I just think it's worth acknowledging before you know we spend the next however long predicting everything that it's just it's it's a cool thing that we're always looking forward to, but it's also like, man, once in a while we should just stop and appreciate what actually exists.

  SPEAKER_01: Well, it's our philosophy here to stop and smell the mouse.

  SPEAKER_01: And it's just a gentle reminder that you know, appreciating what you have and enjoying it and and not just looking for the next new thing.

  SPEAKER_01: And you know, all that being said, that's not this episode because no, let's talk about stuff that's coming up.

  SPEAKER_02: So D23, Josh Tomorrow has a huge stage, it's a big moment for his career, and apparently I've learned nothing from making my own little speech there.

  SPEAKER_02: So let's talk about these predictions.

  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.

  SPEAKER_02: So so where should we start?

  SPEAKER_02: Well, what you know, how how did you approach this?

  SPEAKER_02: Because picking five was nearly impossible, and I know that I lose the hell out of this list.

  SPEAKER_02: I'll be honest.

  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I've got a I've got some loss in there.

  SPEAKER_01: I've got some things I guess I would consider honorable mentions.

  SPEAKER_01: I just and part of it for me, Friday is Friday is exciting, and you know, Friday will be I I just I'm not I'm not insane for the Marvel universe.

  SPEAKER_01: And I'm a I'm a reasonable Star Wars fan, and it's just you know, when they're talking films and television, there's not as much usually that I get excited.

  SPEAKER_01: So I only made one prediction that's probably belongs on the Friday days.

  SPEAKER_01: But so you did it by day, okay.

  SPEAKER_01: I well, I kind of did.

  SPEAKER_01: I was like, well, when would they announce this?

  SPEAKER_01: And of course, four of my things I went, oh well, these would be during the experiences presentation on Saturday.

  SPEAKER_01: But I sort of figured you might balance me out a little with those.

  SPEAKER_01: So we can go in any random order you want.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, just give me one of your, you know, your your top predictions, and I'll I kind of did them.

  SPEAKER_02: I did mine, I categorized them a little because I was gonna go by day, and then I just that got daunting, and then I I just kind of picked a few.

  SPEAKER_01: Well, here's here's one that I will actually credit to Jackie because as we were driving, I said, you know, what what predictions would you think might come out of it?

  SPEAKER_01: And she brought up a very interesting, it's been buzzed about for a long time, but it's that empty real estate in Tomorrowland where stitches and and you know, I so I'm throwing it in in a Lumongello Tomorrowland because I do think that we'll get more details on the Space Mountain refurbishment, because I think unlike some people who are losing their minds, I'm actually excited by the prospect because I've always I've always said California is a better Space Mountain because it has a soundtrack.

  SPEAKER_02: And I did say that I mentioned this because my wife and I also discussed this, and she kind of lost her mind a little bit over it.

  SPEAKER_02: But I'm gonna be with you on this.

  SPEAKER_01: I think, and we'll I'll just kind of tailor this into mind because I think well, go ahead and well because because yes, the Space Mountain, but also in that tomorrowland spirit, that Stitch real estate.

  SPEAKER_01: Well, first of all, I said Stitch is still Stitch Stitch has proven the test of time.

  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Stitch has been around and he's gonna be around.

  SPEAKER_01: So you could bring Stitch back to that space, but Jackie actually had a pretty brilliant idea, Josh, if you're listening, um, that it could be sort of a uh Doctor Strange maybe experience somehow.

  SPEAKER_01: Or she also brought up Big Hero Six.

  SPEAKER_01: That's right now, yeah.

  SPEAKER_01: That would be really cool.

  SPEAKER_01: I'm like, they probably would try to save that for one of the Asian parks, maybe, but maybe not.

  SPEAKER_01: But so, so I'm gonna say we're gonna hear some stuff about Tomorrowland for my first foray into the future in my Nostradamus.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm gonna actually piggyback on that because I have that as well.

  SPEAKER_02: I do think that uh refurbishment of Space Mountain is very possible.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, but I don't think we should necessarily look kind of what you're saying.

  SPEAKER_02: I don't think we should look at Space Mountain in isolation because I think there's a much bigger Tomorrowland conversation coming.

  SPEAKER_02: And I don't I can't pinpoint exactly, but here's the thing Disney's gonna be looking forward to the 60th anniversary in 2031.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, 60.

  SPEAKER_02: I had to think about that.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, but and I think tomorrowland's a huge piece of that because if you really think about it, that is the area, with the exception of Tron being over there, it hasn't gotten you know much love.

  SPEAKER_02: And I think it's gonna get an overhaul.

  SPEAKER_02: And I mean, I think they're gonna rethink that entire area, not just painting some buildings or changing some signs or anything like that.

  SPEAKER_02: But I think Disney's asking themselves, okay, what is Tomorrowland supposed to be in 2031?

  SPEAKER_02: Because I think, you know, I think we can agree that that land's the one with the identity problem a little bit.

  SPEAKER_01: And I think you're probably right.

  SPEAKER_01: And I feel I'm I'm gonna go with you on the idea that there should be something about the overall area of the land.

  SPEAKER_01: However, I am gonna say that they may put that one off until 2028 to announce since the rivers of America are a bit of a shambles right now, and you can't you can't take down the other half of the park while people are filling in a ditch.

  SPEAKER_02: Because I also I think if that announcement comes, which it may not this time around, but I think you're gonna see a dual announcement with Tomorrowland at Disneyland, because that also has some problems.

  SPEAKER_02: I think you know what that's a cool, that's a cool twofer.

  SPEAKER_02: And you know, you could really be talking about both parts that way, but I I do think there's some sort of Tomorrowland, you know, conversation coming, even if it's you know one of their random blue sky things, that's that's gonna happen.

  SPEAKER_01: I'm hoping, I'm hoping, and maybe this will not be true, but I'm hoping that they'll announce that the Muppet Show is coming back to the Disney to Disney Plus.

  SPEAKER_01: It got nominated for an Emmy, I think, except there were a lot of haters on my friend Matt's voice, but you know, to each their own.

  SPEAKER_01: So I really like I but I I would love to see them announce that the Muppet Show is going to return in its in its charming state.

  SPEAKER_02: So on the topic of shows, I will say, I do think, given some of the permits, going back to this again, uh, I do think Animal Kingdom needs something new at night.

  SPEAKER_02: And I have a feeling there's some kind of drone situation, spectacular coming to that park.

  SPEAKER_01: Um and you because will the drones scare the animals?

  SPEAKER_02: No, but I I I don't think they would.

  SPEAKER_02: It is, you know, in the same way that like uh fireworks and stuff like that can.

  SPEAKER_02: So I just Animal Kingdom is so unique and it has so much to offer at night, but it's rarely open because there's really nothing to give it.

  SPEAKER_02: But I think with Tropical America's eventually opening, that that is gonna change the identity of that entire park.

  SPEAKER_02: And I think doing something like a drone show would give you a completely different nighttime show.

  SPEAKER_02: You can't get that at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood.

  SPEAKER_02: And I think it'd be such an interesting thing because you could, I mean, they have that amphitheater right there, and you know, they could do something that leans into the animals and nature and yeah, you know, the music of the park.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, and so it's not a fireworks and projection situation, and I don't think it needs to be like the biggest nighttime spectacular Disney's ever created, but I think it'd be cool to have something that makes you say, Wow, that's that's so animal kingdom, and I can't see that anywhere else.

  SPEAKER_01: I love that idea because I one of the I was like, well, what nighttime thing could they announce?

  SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, okay, well, that's too that's fresh and wonderful, but I'm like, well, could Disneyland get a new nighttime parade?

  SPEAKER_01: I mean, Paint the Night's been around for a while, even though I mean it started somewhere else, didn't it?

  SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I I I love the idea that the nighttime thing would be a drone show.

  SPEAKER_01: I even if they brought the thing back that they did it at Disney Springs.

  SPEAKER_01: Uh all right, so my my third uh thing ties into tropical Americas because I what they've given us a broad brushstroke of 2027, right?

  SPEAKER_01: Okay, I I think we'll at least get a season, and I predict that season is gonna be fall of 2027, and I think we'll get the name of the Indiana Jones attraction, maybe even the name of the Encanto attraction.

  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.

  SPEAKER_01: They're not big on doling out doubles, but maybe they won't no.

  SPEAKER_01: Um, so so I I I I really think it would be cool to hear a little more about what the Indiana Jones attraction is gonna be and to hear a name for it.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I would agree with you on that.

  SPEAKER_02: I think that is also moving along much faster than than they were anticipating it to, because I don't know if you've looked at like any of the construction footage lately, but it is trucking, and I think Disney has learned a lot from the past and been like, all right, we gotta keep this moving.

  SPEAKER_02: Um okay, so uh on the topic of like the new lands, uh I'm gonna throw villains land in here, and it's the obvious one, but I think there are two possibilities here.

  SPEAKER_02: Either Disney gives us a genuinely exciting update and maybe some new art, or they give us absolutely nothing.

  SPEAKER_02: And I don't think that's a bad thing because if they're not ready to show us something meaningful, I'd want them to just like wait it out and give us like I saved I saved villains from my crazy bonkers final prediction, but uh and I have I have one of those too.

  SPEAKER_01: I'll chime that in because yeah, they're not gonna tell us nothing.

  SPEAKER_01: That is not a possibility.

  SPEAKER_02: I mean it is I just think that might be a better way than giving us like the same concept art that we've all seen.

  SPEAKER_02: Like, if they do announce something though, I think it could be like one of the biggest crowd pleasures of the presentation.

  SPEAKER_01: Anyway, uh, the one that I have, because I have one more that's not that, or an honorable mention, uh, and that is I believe they will introduce a new class of Disney cruise ships.

  SPEAKER_01: Because Believe is the fourth in the Wish class, and I have a feeling they're ready to get a little bigger and fancier, and and just I mean, when they're competing with some of those floating cities, I have a feeling that they're gonna reveal what the next generation of Disney Cruise ships.

  SPEAKER_01: There might be a fifth wish class coming down the pike, but but I don't know.

  SPEAKER_01: That's just in my humble opinion, something they probably will announce.

  SPEAKER_02: I know there's like some, you know, the big believe reveal or whatever is happening in October, but like I I think you're right.

  SPEAKER_02: Also, there's some rumors out there about like some of the Asian markets getting, you know, a land and sea situation.

  SPEAKER_02: The adventure might even be adding a port of calls, so we'll see, you know, what news that brings.

  SPEAKER_02: Um okay, so this is kind of you know, in that vein too.

  SPEAKER_02: But I think one of the biggest things Disney could announce, and this might just be I d I uh how realistic is it?

  SPEAKER_02: But one of the things I would like to see is a new hotel or a new resort that's actually designed around families who aren't looking to spend a fortune.

  SPEAKER_02: I say that because, and I want to be really clear about what I mean.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, I just don't want an ultra, another ultra-premium resort, and that's kind of what Lakeshore Sodge is, it's as a DVC property.

  SPEAKER_02: And I think I don't want another resort that feels like it exists primarily to feed the the DVC machine.

  SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean by that?

  SPEAKER_01: Like as a DVC member, I'm happy to be fed, but yes, I just want I I know, I know what you're saying.

  SPEAKER_02: I just want Disney to look at the average family right now and say, we know a Disney vacation is expensive, but let me give you somewhere good to stay that doesn't cost a fortune.
