- 0:00Speaker 1: Are you one hundred percent past the arm fatigue being
- 0:03Speaker 1: reportedly felt, I would.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Say, I mean.
- 0:13Speaker 3: That is not good. That was Joe Ryan, Twins starting pitcher,
- 0:17Speaker 3: who struggled again this week against the Kansas City Royals
- 0:21Speaker 3: and is now being evaluated for an injury. We've heard
- 0:24Speaker 3: arm fatigue, we've heard lower half, a lot of concerning stuff.
- 0:28Speaker 3: We'll play his full comments later from the clubhouse after
- 0:31Speaker 3: that game here on Twin Cities Territory today, but we'll
- 0:34Speaker 3: also talk about the twins two losses in Kansas City
- 0:37Speaker 3: since the deadline, Tom Polad's comments on the deadline in
- 0:42Speaker 3: the team's future. But we'll start with Joe not good,
- 0:45Speaker 3: another rough outing in Kansas City, and now it sounds
- 0:48Speaker 3: like he's going to miss a little bit of time
- 0:50Speaker 3: as he gets pasted. Whatever he's going through right now, Dan,
- 0:54Speaker 3: what's the latest on Joe Ryan.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's been listed as arm fatigue, but they're
- 1:00Speaker 4: evaluating him for back, lower back glute and he went
- 1:06Speaker 4: back to he left the team on Wednesday to go
- 1:09Speaker 4: back to Minneapolis to be evaluated and at this point
- 1:13Speaker 4: they're not sure. They're looking for answers too, and Joe Ryan,
- 1:16Speaker 4: as you can tell, I mean, he doesn't have a
- 1:19Speaker 4: lot of answers right now. He is always a guy
- 1:22Speaker 4: who you know, you can tell when he's going through
- 1:25Speaker 4: something because he gets cryptic. I think he likes Fanny
- 1:28Speaker 4: guy that knows what's going on, and when he doesn't
- 1:32Speaker 4: know what's going on, you just get a lot of
- 1:34Speaker 4: hemming and high and we saw that and that was
- 1:36Speaker 4: just one little ten second clip of a two and
- 1:39Speaker 4: a half minute interview where it was very much the
- 1:41Speaker 4: same thing. So it's not great right now with Joe Ryan.
- 1:46Speaker 4: They got to figure it out his last three outings
- 1:49Speaker 4: and he I think he even kind of maybe put
- 1:52Speaker 4: it out there that this is something that even bugged
- 1:54Speaker 4: him in the start against the Los Angeles Angels before
- 1:57Speaker 4: the break, but he was okay that he was actually
- 2:00Speaker 4: pretty solid in that one. But his last three outings
- 2:03Speaker 4: fifteen and thirty innings twenty five hits, only ten strikeouts,
- 2:07Speaker 4: and I believe in nine thirty six, if not a
- 2:11Speaker 4: nine to sixty three era, it has not.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Gone well for him lately since the All Star break.
- 2:15Speaker 4: And I know Joe Ryan has always had issues in
- 2:19Speaker 4: the second half. That's his career is era after the
- 2:21Speaker 4: All Star break is four to nine six is the
- 2:24Speaker 4: ra in his career before the All Star Break is
- 2:26Speaker 4: three point one point seven. But this is definitely something
- 2:29Speaker 4: a little bit more than what he typically goes through
- 2:31Speaker 4: because his body is not helping him right now. And
- 2:35Speaker 4: you know, it doesn't shock me that it's back, lower back,
- 2:39Speaker 4: and glute because if you remember, back in February, Joe
- 2:43Speaker 4: Ryan's first start of spring training was scratched because he
- 2:48Speaker 4: had a lower back lock up on him in the
- 2:50Speaker 4: bullpen session. And this is something that I think has
- 2:53Speaker 4: bugged him a lot of the year. He's been able
- 2:56Speaker 4: to be really good until these last three and you know,
- 3:00Speaker 4: I think that he's figured out ways to work around it,
- 3:04Speaker 4: and now he is not, and so it was definitely
- 3:06Speaker 4: time to stop and evaluate and figure out what's going
- 3:10Speaker 4: on and knock it out. This is a guy, if
- 3:12Speaker 4: you remember, in twenty twenty three, pitched made seven starts
- 3:15Speaker 4: after he hurt his groin in a pregame warm up
- 3:19Speaker 4: in the outfield in Atlanta. He made seven disastrous starts,
- 3:22Speaker 4: gave up seventeen homers and thirty two and two thirds
- 3:26Speaker 4: innings at that time, but it was masked by the
- 3:28Speaker 4: fact that he was still getting strikeouts. He stuck out
- 3:30Speaker 4: fifty two guys and only walked ten and that thirty
- 3:33Speaker 4: two innings. But you know he so for him to
- 3:36Speaker 4: pull the plug after three is definitely the right step
- 3:41Speaker 4: because there's still time in the season to get right
- 3:43Speaker 4: and maybe get back on track.
- 3:46Speaker 3: You read more about it on The Athletic as I
- 3:48Speaker 3: just showed on the screen on YouTube and one of
- 3:51Speaker 3: Dan's latest stories on the team. Let's play the full
- 3:54Speaker 3: video instead of just the twelve second clip here. This
- 3:57Speaker 3: is from Tuesday night after his start in cancer.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Trying to get anything right through the week and just
- 4:06Speaker 6: not not getting back to A to.
- 4:08Speaker 2: B during the week. Do you feel like you're getting
- 4:11Speaker 2: closer to figure out what's going on?
- 4:12Speaker 5: Like?
- 4:13Speaker 2: Do we feel better the at times?
- 4:17Speaker 6: But yeah, I mean it's so kind same substance around,
- 4:21Speaker 6: Like I'm so yeah, just for sure, are.
- 4:26Speaker 1: You one hundred percent past the arm fatigue that you
- 4:29Speaker 1: reportedly felt.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I would say, I mean.
- 4:37Speaker 6: Uh yeah, I guess, uh yeah, just certain things are
- 4:44Speaker 6: working on still and try to figure out so yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 6: well we'll get to the wrong of it.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Do you feel like maybe this isn't a point where
- 4:51Speaker 1: a couple extra days and extra ball playing that kind
- 4:53Speaker 1: of thing might be beneficial or it is the best
- 4:55Speaker 1: thing to keep going out there at games and try
- 4:58Speaker 1: to figure out that way.
- 4:58Speaker 6: I think, what we'll get a plan together this week
- 5:00Speaker 6: and just figure out which it's gonna be the best
- 5:03Speaker 6: for take it all forward.
- 5:06Speaker 3: So yeah, not good. Obviously frustrated, understandably so.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Uh.
- 5:10Speaker 3: They mentioned arn't fatigue in the video, but as Dan
- 5:13Speaker 3: was talking about there, they're concerned about the lower body
- 5:15Speaker 3: as well, and Tyler, Uh, the key to pitching is
- 5:19Speaker 3: actually in the lower body.
- 5:21Speaker 7: So it's hard to pitch when when you can't twist
- 5:24Speaker 7: and contort that body like you're used to. And especially
- 5:28Speaker 7: in his case, he's the guy that gets so low
- 5:30Speaker 7: to the ground, gets so into his hips and you know,
- 5:34Speaker 7: if you slow mot his delivery like you know, back
- 5:36Speaker 7: knees almost in the dirt, you know, and he's getting
- 5:39Speaker 7: out way over his front side.
- 5:41Speaker 2: You know, it's an extension. Is so good.
- 5:43Speaker 7: His slot is everything that makes him Joe Ryan. And
- 5:47Speaker 7: when you can't bend how you're supposed to, Uh, it
- 5:51Speaker 7: creates some issues. It created you lose that sharpness, you
- 5:54Speaker 7: lose the ticke of velo you do, you lose your
- 5:57Speaker 7: ability to locate as well.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Every pitch becomes a little more strenuous.
- 6:01Speaker 7: And you know you've seen him at times fighting his delivery.
- 6:05Speaker 7: I guess you'd say, you know, trying to get a
- 6:07Speaker 7: little extra out of it, you know, maybe falling off
- 6:09Speaker 7: towards first base, things like that, and you know those things.
- 6:12Speaker 7: When it was arm fatigue was what was said. At first,
- 6:14Speaker 7: it didn't really register because it was you know, the
- 6:18Speaker 7: everything looked kind of okay, but like it was more
- 6:21Speaker 7: like to me, it looked mechanical, like where he's fallen off.
- 6:24Speaker 7: And you know, now hearing that, it makes perfect sense.
- 6:27Speaker 7: You just can't when you when you get down that
- 6:30Speaker 7: slope and it's time to fire that front leg to
- 6:32Speaker 7: post up and rotate, you just can't do it the same.
- 6:35Speaker 7: You know, I've I've had hip things here and there.
- 6:37Speaker 7: I've had knee things. It's I've my arm has never
- 6:41Speaker 7: bugged me too much. Honestly, my entire career. It was
- 6:43Speaker 7: always you know, a foot, an ankle and knee of
- 6:46Speaker 7: this or that, and it works itself up the chain.
- 6:49Speaker 7: And that's you know, when you see guys get injured,
- 6:51Speaker 7: it's because sometimes there's a little naggy injury.
- 6:54Speaker 2: That nobody knew about. You know, I mean.
- 6:56Speaker 7: Literally a hangnail on your toe being sore affects how
- 6:59Speaker 7: you push your foot in the ground.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And so it's as funny as it is.
- 7:02Speaker 7: Were these athletes and were durable and strong, but like
- 7:05Speaker 7: you know, it's the ripple effect that rattles up the chain,
- 7:08Speaker 7: and unfortunately for Joe, it's something that was there at spring.
- 7:12Speaker 7: They seem to have it ironed out, and now it's
- 7:15Speaker 7: you know, we're hitting that mid season, the dead, the
- 7:17Speaker 7: dog days of August.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Uh, It's it's creeping in there.
- 7:21Speaker 7: And at this point, it's kind of a come in
- 7:24Speaker 7: the conversation, like with Byron, is it more worth it
- 7:27Speaker 7: now to take a week off or two weeks off
- 7:30Speaker 7: get right versus trying to pitch through it? And obviously
- 7:33Speaker 7: they have you know, he's going back to get whatever done,
- 7:35Speaker 7: you know, get checked out. But you know it's that
- 7:39Speaker 7: he's even more so than Byron. I'd be willing to
- 7:41Speaker 7: say if he's not right, that every move they just
- 7:44Speaker 7: made kind of is a mood point.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Yeah, real quick, Just what was not on the video?
- 7:51Speaker 4: Because I asked two other questions, like almost immediately after that.
- 7:55Speaker 4: The next two questions were is this a mechanical issue
- 7:59Speaker 4: with your delivery? And he said, that's probably part of it.
- 8:02Speaker 4: I don't know what's necessarily causing that side of it.
- 8:05Speaker 4: And I said, do you then feel physically as if
- 8:09Speaker 4: you're capable of executing your delivery? And his response was no,
- 8:13Speaker 4: definitely not.
- 8:16Speaker 5: So just kind of says all.
- 8:19Speaker 2: You need to know.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Yeah, great, not great at all. And Tyler exactly like
- 8:26Speaker 3: this team. The whole blueprints all along as we got
- 8:30Speaker 3: close to the deadline was well, we got some great
- 8:34Speaker 3: got some great top ends starting pitching, and we got
- 8:36Speaker 3: a great offense, and we're going to talk about that
- 8:37Speaker 3: in just a minute. But now, all of a sudden,
- 8:40Speaker 3: both those things are looking like they're non existent or
- 8:43Speaker 3: at least in serious question here the rest of the way.
- 8:47Speaker 3: And it's like, I think the first batter of the
- 8:50Speaker 3: game he had a couple that just sailed way high. Yeah,
- 8:54Speaker 3: it's like already looks off.
- 8:55Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, I would be interested to see, you know,
- 8:58Speaker 7: do a dive into his like releases, like how far
- 9:01Speaker 7: down the mound he's actually getting as compared to before
- 9:04Speaker 7: the break or opening day, whatever you want to pick.
- 9:07Speaker 7: But I would be willing to bet there's some little
- 9:08Speaker 7: variances in his delivery. And I know the twins they
- 9:12Speaker 7: probably have we talked about before. The camera system in
- 9:15Speaker 7: the field at target field, they can break down everything,
- 9:18Speaker 7: and I guarantee you they the numbers are backing up
- 9:21Speaker 7: what he's saying, you know, and then those bullpens. It's
- 9:24Speaker 7: probably one day where it doesn't bug him quite as
- 9:26Speaker 7: much and he feels fine, you know, and he may
- 9:28Speaker 7: feel great going into these games, and then when he
- 9:30Speaker 7: steps on that throttle, maybe it's just barking at him
- 9:33Speaker 7: a little bit.
- 9:34Speaker 5: You know.
- 9:35Speaker 7: It's it's hard to trust anything when you're not one
- 9:37Speaker 7: hundred percent, you know.
- 9:38Speaker 2: It's especially with your back. It doesn't you can't just
- 9:42Speaker 2: like walk that off.
- 9:43Speaker 5: You know.
- 9:44Speaker 2: It's one of those that it never really goes away.
- 9:46Speaker 6: You know.
- 9:46Speaker 7: I've had teammates that it's you go in pregame for
- 9:49Speaker 7: a start, and they're you know, pants down to their knees,
- 9:52Speaker 7: shirt up, and they're just getting plastered with red hot
- 9:55Speaker 7: and atomic bomb you know, everything they can to loosen
- 9:58Speaker 7: some things up, but it's a it's one you got
- 10:00Speaker 7: to get it right because if you don't, it's not
- 10:01Speaker 7: going to go away.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Well, a twinsle hold their breath on that one for sure.
- 10:07Speaker 3: If you like what you hear, please toss us alike

- 10:18Speaker 3: We'll talk about these two games in Kansas City in
- 10:22Speaker 3: just a second.
- 10:24Speaker 8: This is that time of year, aj it is Baseball's
- 10:27Speaker 8: time to shine, and it is sea Geek's time to
- 10:30Speaker 8: shine with MLB tickets and finding the best pricing, seating
- 10:35Speaker 8: and games that are even sold out available on sea geek.
- 10:40Speaker 9: Absolutely if you want to go to the biggest matchups
- 10:42Speaker 9: coming up. We have Yankees Cubs coming up. Where's Yankees
- 10:44Speaker 9: Red Sox? That means stuff Again, there's some big moments
- 10:47Speaker 9: that are coming up here in the as the penachases
- 10:50Speaker 9: really heat up. Go to seke can find those green
- 10:52Speaker 9: tickets with the best deals and get yourself out to
- 10:55Speaker 9: an MLB game.
- 10:57Speaker 8: Yeah, and they're straightforward with you. They will actually put
- 10:59Speaker 8: a dot next to a ticket that they don't feel
- 11:03Speaker 8: is your best. Look. Green dot means very good code
- 11:07Speaker 8: for you. It's territory ten ten percent off your next

- 11:22Speaker 8: added to your account so you can use it later.
- 11:24Speaker 3: This all right, Two very sad losses, I guess in
- 11:33Speaker 3: Kansas City this week. Obviously we covered Joe Ryan allowed.
- 11:38Speaker 3: It's actually a little telling that my reaction when he
- 11:42Speaker 3: came off the mound was, oh, four runs in five
- 11:45Speaker 3: and a third, That's that's not bad, like, just given
- 11:50Speaker 3: how he had performed the last two times out. But
- 11:53Speaker 3: and then on Wednesday we got the entire suite of
- 11:55Speaker 3: deadline pickups pitch the entire game for the Twins. Yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 3: Dean Kramer to Tommy Nantz to aj Minter to Jeff Hoffman.
- 12:04Speaker 3: They did fine two runs allowed over the course of
- 12:07Speaker 3: the game, but the Twins offense in both games just
- 12:10Speaker 3: non existent. Two runs on Tuesday and an eight to
- 12:12Speaker 3: two loss. Two to one was the final. On Wednesday,
- 12:15Speaker 3: Twins actually had the lead in the game for the
- 12:18Speaker 3: first time in a while, but in fitting fashion for
- 12:21Speaker 3: this team lately, it came via a double play and
- 12:25Speaker 3: Dean Kramer then couldn't hold the lead, and obviously tough
- 12:29Speaker 3: to ask a pitching staff to hold a one zero lead.
- 12:31Speaker 3: But the offense is gone, starting pitching is in trouble.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It is red alert time. All of a sudden, two
- 12:38Speaker 3: days ago, here we are, they made some moves, they're
- 12:40Speaker 3: making a push, and now we hop back on here
- 12:43Speaker 3: on this Thursday to say, oh boy, I guess the
- 12:46Speaker 3: good news guys is at least they didn't lose any
- 12:48Speaker 3: ground this week, because Chicago and Cleveland also both lost
- 12:51Speaker 3: to nobody wants to win the Central Dan.
- 12:53Speaker 4: It seems yeah, I was, man, why did you have
- 12:55Speaker 4: to say good news? I was gonna ask you, did
- 12:57Speaker 4: you want the good news the bad news, Zach? Because
- 13:01Speaker 4: the good news is tonight's the last time they played
- 13:04Speaker 4: Kansas City.
- 13:04Speaker 5: This yayay man.
- 13:07Speaker 4: That is a weight off their shoulders. They are four
- 13:09Speaker 4: and eight against Kansas City. They were one game above
- 13:12Speaker 4: five hundred against everybody else. They cannot They will not
- 13:15Speaker 4: face Noah Cameron again this season.
- 13:18Speaker 5: That's a double y.
- 13:19Speaker 4: The dover, yeah, or the douver, but no Cameron in particular.
- 13:24Speaker 4: This is a guy that has a five forty era
- 13:26Speaker 4: against everybody else in ninety nine innings and has pitched
- 13:29Speaker 4: four times against the Twins, has pitched twenty seven innings,
- 13:32Speaker 4: has struck out twenty eight batters, and he's allowed two
- 13:35Speaker 4: earned runs. That for those of you who didn't go
- 13:39Speaker 4: to San Diego State at home, that is a zero
- 13:42Speaker 4: point sixty sixth ERA.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Against the Twins. They start him. It's crazy yesterday, I believe.
- 13:51Speaker 4: So the Twins put together that rally in the fourth
- 13:53Speaker 4: inning and Derek Shelton called it to play the game
- 13:55Speaker 4: by Bobby Witz.
- 13:56Speaker 5: The bases are loaded.
- 13:58Speaker 4: You got that great Josh Bell deek on the bass
- 14:01Speaker 4: pass that somehow allows Cody Clemens to be safe on
- 14:04Speaker 4: the play, and then Bell sneaks in and is safe two.
- 14:07Speaker 4: And then Royce Lewis bunts for the bass hit to
- 14:09Speaker 4: load the bases. So basses are loaded. Nobody's out and
- 14:13Speaker 4: Vic Cartini hits one pretty good up the middle and
- 14:17Speaker 4: it looked like it was getting through and Bobby Witt
- 14:19Speaker 4: makes a diving play and easy double play. The Twins
- 14:22Speaker 4: only get the one run out of that at that point.
- 14:24Speaker 4: No Cameron had one strikeout, that is, with ten outs recorded,
- 14:30Speaker 4: he struck out brooks Lee and then he struck out
- 14:33Speaker 4: seven more guys over his next four innings, finished with nine.
- 14:38Speaker 5: And that last the eighth inning.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I think he struck up his side and nobody has
- 14:42Speaker 4: shot like the Twins have seen him four times. They
- 14:45Speaker 4: know what's coming. He adjusted. I think he switched up.
- 14:48Speaker 4: They were saying he justed and when you thought he
- 14:50Speaker 4: was gonna throw his cutter, he was throwing his change
- 14:52Speaker 4: up on and he was gonna be looking like he
- 14:54Speaker 4: was gonna throw his change up.
- 14:55Speaker 5: He's thrown his cutter.
- 14:56Speaker 4: They were a little bit baffled, but lefty pitchers have
- 15:00Speaker 4: dominated them lately, guys that have no names.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Basically in this sport.
- 15:05Speaker 4: We've seen it the A's when they came to town
- 15:08Speaker 4: and left he dominated the Twins.
- 15:10Speaker 5: This offense has scored eighteen runs in sixty or sixty
- 15:13Speaker 5: four runs in eighteen games since the All Star break,
- 15:17Speaker 5: So that's about three point six a game eleven times
- 15:20Speaker 5: where they've scored three or fewer and they've just gone quiet.
- 15:24Speaker 5: And part of that can be Byron Buckston. Obviously he's
- 15:27Speaker 5: missed eleven games, but we're just seeing the rest of
- 15:31Speaker 5: the group that was really consistently picking up guys when
- 15:34Speaker 5: Byron was down not be as consistent and just getting
- 15:38Speaker 5: this group funk right now. And it's very strange to
- 15:40Speaker 5: see because this is a team that has given it,
- 15:44Speaker 5: you know, no game has seemed out of reach most
- 15:48Speaker 5: of the season, and right now they just they're boring.
- 15:52Speaker 5: They're everything like they It's not like they haven't had
- 15:55Speaker 5: good at bats here.
- 15:56Speaker 4: I think they have had some really good at bats
- 15:58Speaker 4: in Kansas City, but the balls are magic.
- 16:00Speaker 2: It's just not there.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Well, one of the things they've had some
- 16:05Speaker 4: real good luck this year with their opponents playing crappy
- 16:08Speaker 4: defense against them, and Kansas City is catching everything and
- 16:13Speaker 4: making some outstanding plays and that has really hurt Twins.
- 16:17Speaker 3: But what is it with a guy like Noah Cameron
- 16:20Speaker 3: in a situation like that, Is it just just certain
- 16:23Speaker 3: people seem to have it against certain teams.
- 16:27Speaker 2: And he's got good stuff.
- 16:28Speaker 6: I was so.
- 16:29Speaker 7: I played with him actually in Omaha, and he was
- 16:34Speaker 7: He showed up from double A and shoved like first
- 16:37Speaker 7: outing in triple A. He's just he's got poise. You know,
- 16:40Speaker 7: you watched that whole outing like he had a great night.
- 16:43Speaker 7: Wasn't fitst pumping, wasn't doing anything. He was just locked
- 16:46Speaker 7: in to do his job, you know, and execute. And
- 16:49Speaker 7: that's what I really noticed, especially with him, you know,
- 16:53Speaker 7: obviously left handed, everything he just executed where his his spots,
- 16:57Speaker 7: you know, he wasn't in the middle of his zone.
- 16:59Speaker 7: And and that's where I think our guys have you know,
- 17:03Speaker 7: exploited these pitchers, is they start missing over the middle,
- 17:06Speaker 7: we get the hits, you know, and then combine combined
- 17:09Speaker 7: him spotting up with having an MVP candidate shortstop, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 7: Carter Jensen. I think I can't remember if he were
- 17:16Speaker 7: Sally was catching last night, but the catcher's there, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 7: in Casey, they're you know, they're doing their jobs. And
- 17:22Speaker 7: defense is great, you know, it's just one you kind
- 17:24Speaker 7: of ran into a quality starter who's not just trying
- 17:28Speaker 7: to outstuff you. And I think that's where the Twins
- 17:31Speaker 7: that they can do well against the guys that throw
- 17:33Speaker 7: hard you know, that throw the hard sliders and things
- 17:36Speaker 7: like that. But it's anyone would struggle with a guy
- 17:39Speaker 7: who's just executing. And obviously he's got a weird you know,
- 17:42Speaker 7: his his splits against everyone else aren't great. But for
- 17:45Speaker 7: whatever reason, the Twins make him comfortable and they he
- 17:49Speaker 7: makes them uncomfortable. Uh and obviously the tail of the
- 17:53Speaker 7: tape there with the numbers, it's it's just it's a
- 17:56Speaker 7: weird one. And and now it's probably in their heads
- 17:59Speaker 7: at this point. You know, he's on the mound and
- 18:01Speaker 7: guys are like, oh god, here we go, you know,
- 18:03Speaker 7: all right, sit the curve ball.
- 18:04Speaker 2: And then he's he's storing change ups.
- 18:06Speaker 7: You know, he's mixing and matching, and and that's the
- 18:08Speaker 7: hard part of the game. You know, when you're the
- 18:11Speaker 7: young guy, you get a free shot because nobody's actually
- 18:14Speaker 7: seen you yet. But these now seen them four times
- 18:16Speaker 7: this season and they've still yet to get him. So
- 18:19Speaker 7: it's just whether it's you know, good luck on him.
- 18:23Speaker 7: You know, he's studying the hell out of his scatter
- 18:26Speaker 7: reports whatever it like, he's he's got the number right now,
- 18:29Speaker 7: and like they're saying, we're all saying, luckily we don't
- 18:32Speaker 7: have to see them after today, so you know, we'll
- 18:34Speaker 7: see them next year opening day or something.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Three hits in sixteen innings total in the last week
- 18:41Speaker 3: off of a.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Ten ten and twenty seven innings on the season, ten
- 18:48Speaker 4: in twenty but that is just he is pitching it
- 18:52Speaker 4: cy young levels. Derek Shelton even said he's kind of
- 18:55Speaker 4: our nemesis. So yeah, let's let's not talk about Noah
- 18:59Speaker 4: Cameron anymore.
- 19:01Speaker 3: That's the end of the NOA camera discussion on this podcast.
- 19:05Speaker 3: It's indicative of a larger trend for the Twins. Here's
- 19:09Speaker 3: the numbers through July eighth. They were scoring four point
- 19:13Speaker 3: nine to one runs per game, that was sixth in MLB.
- 19:16Speaker 3: They were hitting two eighty five with runners in scoring
- 19:18Speaker 3: position and eight with an eight to twenty ops. Those
- 19:20Speaker 3: were both first in baseball, and hitting two forty seven
- 19:23Speaker 3: with two outs and runners in the scoring position, which
- 19:25Speaker 3: was eighth in baseball. We talked about it a lot
- 19:28Speaker 3: earlier in the season.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Guys, how.
- 19:31Speaker 3: How those situational moments were so key for them and
- 19:36Speaker 3: that's why they were scoring so many runs. Is because
- 19:37Speaker 3: they were capitalizing when there were people on the pond,
- 19:40Speaker 3: and they were They're just so so many times it
- 19:43Speaker 3: has felt like I don't have any stats to back
- 19:44Speaker 3: it up, but it's felt like so many times during
- 19:46Speaker 3: this dry spell, they've gotten that guy on second or
- 19:49Speaker 3: third with two outs and just that hit doesn't come,
- 19:52Speaker 3: and sure enough, we'll go back to the graphic. Since
- 19:56Speaker 3: July ninth, and I picked July ninth because they had
- 20:00Speaker 3: just finished a four game winning streak, winning the last
- 20:03Speaker 3: two in New York in the first two against Cleveland.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Since July ninth, the runs per game have dropped a
- 20:09Speaker 3: three point five to four, which is twenty fourth in
- 20:11Speaker 3: Major League Baseball, down to two thirty eight by almost
- 20:14Speaker 3: a fifty point drop. There in their average of runners
- 20:17Speaker 3: in scoring position six seventy eight ops and just hitting
- 20:21Speaker 3: one seventy nine with two outs and runners in the
- 20:25Speaker 3: scoring position. Meanwhile, this has nothing to do with the offense,
- 20:28Speaker 3: but the thing that we thought was a problem all season,
- 20:31Speaker 3: the bullpenny ra has gone from twenty ninth in baseball
- 20:34Speaker 3: to thirteenth since July ninth. And it's even now even
- 20:38Speaker 3: better if you go back a little further than that.
- 20:40Speaker 3: So it's like, here is this team going into July
- 20:44Speaker 3: thinking our offense is set, our top end of the
- 20:46Speaker 3: rotation is set, let's go get a bunch of bullpen
- 20:49Speaker 3: help and back end rotation help. And now it's almost
- 20:52Speaker 3: like completely flip flopped, and they better hope they snap
- 20:55Speaker 3: out of this funk in a hurry or that the
- 20:57Speaker 3: White Sox and I almost did it too. Guardians just
- 21:00Speaker 3: don't don't win again because it's it's not looking good Dan.
- 21:05Speaker 4: They certainly need to pick it up. And I don't
- 21:07Speaker 4: know when Byron Bucks is gonna be back at this point.
- 21:09Speaker 4: I know he's doing better and feeling healthier, but it's
- 21:13Speaker 4: the hip and they know that they have to really
- 21:16Speaker 4: knock it out. And you know, they tried before and
- 21:20Speaker 4: it came back, so this that led to a shot
- 21:24Speaker 4: in the hip this time. And I know he's doing better,
- 21:28Speaker 4: but I just I don't think it's gonna be relatively soon.
- 21:31Speaker 4: So they need other guys to pick it up and
- 21:33Speaker 4: do what they were doing before. That's the one thing
- 21:36Speaker 4: about this team. This was a collective offense that operated
- 21:39Speaker 4: really well and set each other up and trust each
- 21:42Speaker 4: other even when Byron is out of lineup to like
- 21:45Speaker 4: keep going.
- 21:45Speaker 5: And you know you mentioned Zach the.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Runners and scoring position numbers there, it just doesn't feel
- 21:50Speaker 4: like they've had a lot of runners on well too. Yeah,
- 21:54Speaker 4: Like it just doesn't feel like they've had chances lately.
- 21:56Speaker 4: And it's been so boring, like really boring for me
- 22:01Speaker 4: to be like for me at a game.
- 22:02Speaker 5: I love going to baseball games. I love watching baseball games.
- 22:06Speaker 2: It's good.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Oh yeah, if you're a fan of pitching, it's great,
- 22:10Speaker 4: and typically I am. But when this team's identity has
- 22:12Speaker 4: been built around like consistently passing the baton and two
- 22:17Speaker 4: outfits and doing unexpected things, it's.
- 22:20Speaker 5: Just been so dreadfully boring lately. They like, it's just
- 22:25Speaker 5: not very fun.
- 22:27Speaker 4: And you know, you can see why they are five
- 22:30Speaker 4: hundred teams five hundred team because five hundred teams they
- 22:34Speaker 4: play great for about three days and then they go
- 22:36Speaker 4: backwards for about two to four days, and then they
- 22:38Speaker 4: repeat and rinse and repeat over and over. It's just
- 22:43Speaker 4: And I liked what Ryan Jeffers said there today. He said,
- 22:46Speaker 4: you know, we seem to have this phobia of five hundred.
- 22:49Speaker 4: And like, you know, they got above five hundred with
- 22:52Speaker 4: the win in Seattle Friday. They've since lost four in
- 22:55Speaker 4: a row and here they are at three hundred. And
- 22:56Speaker 4: if they win on Thursday night, they go to Milwaukee,
- 23:00Speaker 4: and who knows what they're gonna run into there. The
- 23:03Speaker 4: bullpen is certainly in much better shape and capable of
- 23:06Speaker 4: handling low scoring games and keeping them in those games
- 23:10Speaker 4: Like last night was a great example. Dean Kramer five
- 23:13Speaker 4: innings one run. Dean Kramer made a really nice, really
- 23:16Speaker 4: nice debut first impression, and then you go and pass
- 23:20Speaker 4: the baton to the bullpen and like everybody carried it
- 23:22Speaker 4: and AJ Minter leaves one pitch over. He might have
- 23:26Speaker 4: gotten screwed because they were out of challenges at that
- 23:28Speaker 4: point and his one oh clipped the zone, but Ryan
- 23:33Speaker 4: Jeffers had no challenge left to use, so it was
- 23:35Speaker 4: a two to oh and he comes to the middle
- 23:38Speaker 4: with the cutter and gets hit for a home run
- 23:40Speaker 4: and AJ Mintor is left to absorb the loss.
- 23:43Speaker 5: But really that losses.
- 23:44Speaker 4: On the offense and this team just needs to pick
- 23:47Speaker 4: it up all around. The defense has been solid, the
- 23:50Speaker 4: pitching has gotten much better, and like you said, now
- 23:53Speaker 4: it's where's the offense. And it's funny they can't match
- 23:57Speaker 4: it all up at once, because this team now is
- 24:00Speaker 4: capable if all if they're on all so owners, this
- 24:02Speaker 4: team is capable of rolling off some really good stretches
- 24:05Speaker 4: because they shouldn't have as much uncertainty with the bullpen
- 24:09Speaker 4: and the ability to keep games closer and win it
- 24:11Speaker 4: with offense.
- 24:13Speaker 3: The swoon has in the offense, despite that they woke
- 24:20Speaker 3: up in the morning July first, forty one and forty six.
- 24:24Speaker 3: The it's debatable where you want to say the offensive
- 24:26Speaker 3: wone started exactly but sometime around early July, and there's
- 24:29Speaker 3: still over five hundred since then. Despite despite how terrible
- 24:32Speaker 3: it has seemed lately, it's they've they've hung in there.
- 24:36Speaker 3: It's just a question of are they going to snap
- 24:38Speaker 3: out of it? And we joke that we're that Thank
- 24:41Speaker 3: god they don't have to play the Royals anymore. But
- 24:43Speaker 3: the coming schedule doesn't look very friendly.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Not ideal either.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Yeah, but I guess the good news more good news.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Dean Kramer looked pretty darn solid. One run was its
- 24:57Speaker 3: six human five innings, right, yeah, yeah, five travel too.
- 25:03Speaker 7: He pitched, Well, you know, they executed like crisp. I mean,
- 25:08Speaker 7: everything you want from a guy you just plugged into
- 25:10Speaker 7: your rotation. I mean, he you know that the hardest
- 25:12Speaker 7: part for a guy like him is settling in with
- 25:14Speaker 7: the catching crew. And you know, it seems even postgame
- 25:18Speaker 7: he mentioned, you know, got with all of them and
- 25:20Speaker 7: had their meetings, and you know that's the the another
- 25:24Speaker 7: behind the scenes part.
- 25:25Speaker 2: You know, these guys get traded.
- 25:26Speaker 7: You know, everyone's within each team, their analytics are all different,
- 25:30Speaker 7: you know, the way they want to approach things and
- 25:32Speaker 7: how they look at numbers, and it's it's become kind
- 25:35Speaker 7: of part of the game where you've got to adapt
- 25:38Speaker 7: to a team, or depending on who you are, you
- 25:40Speaker 7: just kind of put your foot down and say, hey,
- 25:42Speaker 7: this is what I'm going to do, which I'm sure,
- 25:44Speaker 7: you know a guy he's been around for a bit.
- 25:46Speaker 2: You got to give his two cents.
- 25:48Speaker 7: But you know, to go in to a place like
- 25:51Speaker 7: that and you know, get get with Jeffers quick. You know,
- 25:54Speaker 7: I guess there's probably a day or so, you know,
- 25:57Speaker 7: to get to know him and execute a game plan.
- 25:59Speaker 7: They're thing, look good, look really good.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Tom Polad Twins controlling owner, was in Kansas City this
- 26:06Speaker 3: week to talk after the deadline acquisitions of Hoffman and Minter,
- 26:11Speaker 3: along with Kramer and earlier Tommy Nance, and once again
- 26:18Speaker 3: kind of similar to how he and Jeremy Zoel talked
- 26:20Speaker 3: about the intent to invest in the team at the deadline,
- 26:23Speaker 3: he was foreshadowing maybe some similar things in the offseason.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Dan Yeah, he basically said he was gonna be in
- 26:31Speaker 4: Kansas City regardless if they purchased or they bought players
- 26:35Speaker 4: or not. At the trade deadline, right, he wanted to
- 26:38Speaker 4: back up what he had said, and if there was
- 26:41Speaker 4: a reason to talk to players about a disappointing result,
- 26:44Speaker 4: he wanted to show his face. And it's something the
- 26:46Speaker 4: players have really enjoyed all years, his presence, Like you
- 26:51Speaker 4: can see it. Guys talk about it openly, have said
- 26:54Speaker 4: it's been a pleasant surprise because he had talked to
- 26:58Speaker 4: the game.
- 26:58Speaker 5: And now he's backing it up the way he described
- 27:02Speaker 5: it was.
- 27:04Speaker 4: He said, first, he said, I certainly hope this is
- 27:07Speaker 4: another small step to earning back the trust of the
- 27:10Speaker 4: fan base. But what he went on to say, and
- 27:13Speaker 4: what I know he believes, is it's gonna take a
- 27:16Speaker 4: lot more steps like this was great. They added eight
- 27:18Speaker 4: point five million in payroll, and it was a big
- 27:21Speaker 4: deal to do that because the Twins never have done that,
- 27:23Speaker 4: and it allowed them to pay down prospect prices on
- 27:27Speaker 4: the aj Mintor deal. I believe they give up their
- 27:29Speaker 4: twenty first and twenty ninth prospects. Had they not given up,
- 27:34Speaker 4: had they not paid down the three million three point
- 27:36Speaker 4: five million left to AJ Mintor, you look at like
- 27:39Speaker 4: somewhere between their eighth and their tenth best prospect going
- 27:42Speaker 4: to the Mets instead, So the cash was big and
- 27:46Speaker 4: we asked him, Tom Pole, I were like, hey, is
- 27:49Speaker 4: it fair to assume that you're you're hoping the payroll
- 27:51Speaker 4: will go up and he said, I'm not hoping it
- 27:53Speaker 4: will be higher.
- 27:54Speaker 5: I've been consistent.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Right for us to accomplish the things that we want
- 27:57Speaker 4: to accomplish and be a consistently competitive team in the
- 28:00Speaker 4: playoffs and going deep, we have to make an investment
- 28:04Speaker 4: to this team. We did that in a small way
- 28:06Speaker 4: to trade deadline. You'll see more of it next year.
- 28:09Speaker 4: So look, this is him continuing to say and put
- 28:14Speaker 4: himself on record that they are going to be aggressive
- 28:17Speaker 4: and spend and do things. And I get when again,
- 28:22Speaker 4: I will get skepticism from Twins fans. It's something very
- 28:26Speaker 4: new being in the Pole family and you have forty
- 28:30Speaker 4: years of backing on it, right, But he is clearly
- 28:33Speaker 4: setting himself up to make this team be aggressive and
- 28:37Speaker 4: spend and saying that he's going to do these things.
- 28:40Speaker 4: And you know, I feel like that that says a
- 28:43Speaker 4: lot because he's he knows where you call him out
- 28:46Speaker 4: on it if he doesn't, and he's making promises, and
- 28:49Speaker 4: I think that's a like Zach, you were talking about it.
- 28:52Speaker 4: What do you think of the way he is kind
- 28:54Speaker 4: of doing this approaching it?
- 28:56Speaker 3: Was I talking about it. I think it was the
- 29:02Speaker 3: time for the solo cam for me. Okay, here we go.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Yeah so soapbox.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yeah, there we go. I don't I don't blame anybody
- 29:11Speaker 3: for I'll believe it when I see it. And Tyler,
- 29:13Speaker 3: I want to I want you to explain your somewhat
- 29:18Speaker 3: cynical view of what those comments could mean in a minute.
- 29:22Speaker 2: But yeah, look, I.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Am of the camp that it's good that they tried
- 29:29Speaker 3: at the deadline. I think that even if these moves
- 29:33Speaker 3: go nowhere, even if the team goes nowhere, I guess
- 29:35Speaker 3: I should say they tried. They did something. I think
- 29:38Speaker 3: Tyler like it matters for the clubhouse at least that
- 29:41Speaker 3: you know they saw their team added to and not
- 29:43Speaker 3: torn apart. Even if they don't end up delivering it
- 29:47Speaker 3: certainly would be a bummer if they can't make a
- 29:50Speaker 3: playoff push, and would lead to some questions about whether
- 29:54Speaker 3: it was all worth it, et cetera. But the real
- 29:56Speaker 3: test comes in the off season, and I think you've
- 30:00Speaker 3: got to You've got to find people that want to
- 30:02Speaker 3: play here. It's not always easy to do because usually
- 30:05Speaker 3: the good free agents have options.
- 30:06Speaker 2: In that regard.
- 30:07Speaker 3: There's also the lockout looming, so who the heck knows
- 30:09Speaker 3: what that's all going to look like. But yeah, I
- 30:13Speaker 3: think it was reasonable to say he didn't have much
- 30:17Speaker 3: time to do stuff in the off season last year.
- 30:19Speaker 3: It was reasonable not to make a bigger push at
- 30:22Speaker 3: the trade deadline this year, given the team is not,
- 30:25Speaker 3: you know, beaten doors off. But if you really want
- 30:29Speaker 3: to make the team better, the best time to do
- 30:31Speaker 3: that and make a meaningful investment. It's coming up, and
- 30:34Speaker 3: he's he's setting the table and we'll certainly see what
- 30:39Speaker 3: gets done. Tyler.
- 30:41Speaker 7: Yeah, and we were, we were, we were joking about it,
- 30:45Speaker 7: but it's the truth as well. Like he said what
- 30:47Speaker 7: he said, we're going to spend you know, there's more
- 30:49Speaker 7: money coming things like that.
- 30:52Speaker 2: A big chunk of that.
- 30:54Speaker 7: Whether he likes it or not, is going to come
- 30:56Speaker 7: from a lot of arbitration cases that are coming. Whenever
- 31:00Speaker 7: those get to happen, you know, obviously the CBA ends
- 31:03Speaker 7: in December. I think that they may be able to
- 31:05Speaker 7: exchange things prior, you know, but nobody settles until after then.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Anyway, so that'll be interesting one.
- 31:10Speaker 7: But Jeffers is gonna get the qualifying offer that's twenty
- 31:13Speaker 7: plus million. You know, Joe Ryan's still here, you know, uh,
- 31:17Speaker 7: I believe Hoffman is still in free arbitration. You've got Larnik,
- 31:21Speaker 7: You've got I mean, the list is I think it's
- 31:23Speaker 7: like eight or nine deep of guys.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Royce is on there.
- 31:26Speaker 7: You're gonna pay a lot of guys a lot of money,
- 31:28Speaker 7: so that payroll before they go sign a single free
- 31:31Speaker 7: agent is gonna jump. And so he's not wrong in
- 31:35Speaker 7: saying that we are going to spend more money next
- 31:37Speaker 7: year period, you know, unless they just let all those
- 31:40Speaker 7: guys walk the non tender them.
- 31:42Speaker 2: But you know you're not gonna do that.
- 31:44Speaker 7: But all jokes aside, like it is, it's gonna be
- 31:47Speaker 7: a significant jump to keep some good big leaguers and
- 31:51Speaker 7: then you're gonna have to you know, that twenty three
- 31:54Speaker 7: ish I think is a projected number for the qualifying
- 31:56Speaker 7: offer that Jeffers will definitely be offered from Minnesota, and
- 32:00Speaker 7: then whatever free agent you get, you know, that's probably
- 32:03Speaker 7: going to be a starting point for an annual value.
- 32:05Speaker 2: You know, it's just the game's getting more expensive.
- 32:09Speaker 7: And that's part of owning a franchise, and you know,
- 32:11Speaker 7: everything makes money, it's just you.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Got to kind of spin it to make it.
- 32:15Speaker 3: And he said he had a line during those comments about, uh,
- 32:20Speaker 3: you know, on behalf of the organization, I think we've
- 32:22Speaker 3: earned some credibility, and there was there was like a
- 32:25Speaker 3: tinge of like feistiness in the voice because I'm sure
- 32:30Speaker 3: he's hearing it. You know, he's not like he's not
- 32:33Speaker 3: blind or deaf.
- 32:33Speaker 2: He's got a burner account somewhere. Yeah, he's he's he's.
- 32:37Speaker 3: He's well aware what's of what the what the fan
- 32:41Speaker 3: response is. And part of that is because we've been
- 32:44Speaker 3: here before. Like when target Field opened, they raised the payroll,
- 32:49Speaker 3: still not like top tier, but they raised it for sure,
- 32:51Speaker 3: and then when the momentum from that died off, they
- 32:55Speaker 3: went back the other direction. They paid to bring in
- 32:57Speaker 3: Carlos Korea when that died off if they went the
- 33:00Speaker 3: other direction. So I think it's sort of this stuck
- 33:03Speaker 3: in a loop feeling, and that's not Tom Poulad's fault,
- 33:07Speaker 3: and maybe he will snap them out of that and
- 33:10Speaker 3: convince everybody that bigger spending.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Is the way to go.
- 33:15Speaker 3: But but I also kind of understand like his his like,
- 33:20Speaker 3: so far he's done what he said he's going to do,
- 33:24Speaker 3: it's maybe been underwhelming. I mean, we'll see how the
- 33:27Speaker 3: next forty games go. But that's and you started this
- 33:32Speaker 3: conversation saying that Dan, if if he's going to set
- 33:35Speaker 3: the table and get it done, great and if not,
- 33:39Speaker 3: then we will have plenty to say about it. But
- 33:41Speaker 3: even if, even if the payroll does take a jump
- 33:44Speaker 3: next year, like I hate to break it to you, Tom,
- 33:46Speaker 3: but expect to continue to hear. Yeah, we'll see how
- 33:49Speaker 3: long he lasts.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Is going to spend money too?
- 33:52Speaker 4: Right, Well, and here's the thing on I think that
- 33:56Speaker 4: with Ryan Jeffers that really showed up because the Twins
- 34:01Speaker 4: kept him. And look, if he falls flat on his
- 34:04Speaker 4: face numbers wise the rest of the way, they're not
- 34:06Speaker 4: going to.
- 34:06Speaker 5: Offer him the qualifying offer. Right if he had zero
- 34:09Speaker 5: the rest of the way and his average suck, they
- 34:11Speaker 5: will not offer him the qualifying offer.
- 34:13Speaker 4: But what they did was they went into this Ryan
- 34:16Speaker 4: Jeffers could have gotten them a nice, healthy return. They
- 34:20Speaker 4: know that there were teams still calling to check. And
- 34:22Speaker 4: even though the Twins were saying, we're not selling teams
- 34:26Speaker 4: as some of the guys in the front office suggested,
- 34:29Speaker 4: did their due diligence and just made sure the Twins
- 34:32Speaker 4: were really going to do what they said they were.
- 34:34Speaker 4: So Ryan Jeffers' offers continue to pour in, and the
- 34:38Speaker 4: Twins could have gotten a very nice return, but they
- 34:41Speaker 4: knew that they could make Like this was Jeremy's oll,
- 34:45Speaker 4: knowing that if he wants to, he has the ability
- 34:49Speaker 4: to make the qualifying offer to Ryan Jeffers and get
- 34:52Speaker 4: a pick back with the risk that if Ryan Jeffers
- 34:54Speaker 4: market didn't materialize, the Twins would have to sign him
- 34:57Speaker 4: to a one year, twenty three million dollar deal or
- 35:00Speaker 4: whatever it's going to be. I think knowing that allows
- 35:03Speaker 4: you to operate the way you're supposed to. And the
- 35:05Speaker 4: Twins saying, Okay, we get two months of Ryan Jeffers,
- 35:08Speaker 4: we don't want to break this group up.
- 35:10Speaker 5: Plus we get a qualifying offer pick.
- 35:13Speaker 4: We get the comp pick if he goes elsewhere in
- 35:15Speaker 4: the free agency, and that pick usually falls right after
- 35:21Speaker 4: the end of the first round, and the Twins, you know,
- 35:24Speaker 4: that's that's a good spot to be. That's a nice
- 35:28Speaker 4: spot to get some good value and picks right there.
- 35:30Speaker 4: So clearly they were, they knew they had the back end,
- 35:34Speaker 4: and that's helped them operate. And I think that's key
- 35:37Speaker 4: and we'll see how it goes. But I mean, like
- 35:40Speaker 4: this was the first chance, and he gave them a
- 35:43Speaker 4: lot of money. I mean, we're talking about eight point
- 35:46Speaker 4: five million for a team that had one hundred.
- 35:48Speaker 5: And one million dollar payroll or whatever it was.
- 35:50Speaker 4: So it's a pretty significant chunk and teams. I'm sure
- 35:55Speaker 4: it cut some teams around leagues off guard that the
- 35:58Speaker 4: Twins were not offering better prospects to avoid paying salary
- 36:02Speaker 4: and instead offering more like helping them save money. And like,
- 36:07Speaker 4: it's funny that Steve Cohen and the Mets offloaded salary
- 36:11Speaker 4: to the Little Twins. So it was it was definitely
- 36:15Speaker 4: sort of a different.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Dynamic the Mets, who remained the cautionary tale about spending
- 36:21Speaker 3: money in Benjor League Baseball.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I meant to I'll still buy the franchise.
- 36:27Speaker 3: No kidding, I meant to bring this up on our
- 36:30Speaker 3: post deadline show, but I was I was happy Trevor
- 36:33Speaker 3: Larnick stuck around because I realized the other day, Dan
- 36:36Speaker 3: that he was the first draft pick that you and
- 36:39Speaker 3: I covered together when you joined the athletic in twenty eighteen.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Hey man, Ryan Jeffers, Oh that's yeah, yeah, yeah. I
- 36:50Speaker 4: was in my Airbnb in the Wedge area of in
- 36:54Speaker 4: between the near Uptown when I covered that draft. I
- 36:58Speaker 4: remember exactly where I was because it was this crappy
- 37:01Speaker 4: little airbnb that was back in the airbnb days when
- 37:04Speaker 4: I was doing that for my commute.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Well up next, buckle up, because there's one more game
- 37:11Speaker 3: in Kansas City, which we're never going to speak of.
- 37:16Speaker 3: We will, we will dedicate zero point zero percent of
- 37:19Speaker 3: Monday show to to Oh that's not right at all.
- 37:25Speaker 2: There we go.
- 37:26Speaker 3: That was an old.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Please God, no more, there we go. I don't know
- 37:32Speaker 2: if that's better or not.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Bailey over against Michael Waka to finish it off, and
- 37:38Speaker 3: then a weekend in Milwaukee against the Brewers. Are they
- 37:41Speaker 3: tops in the whole National League right now?
- 37:43Speaker 2: Are we getting the miz we.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Are Zewski on Sunday that was supposed to be in
- 37:49Speaker 3: the Joe Joe Ryan game but that's not happening. Connor
- 37:54Speaker 3: Prelip against Change Rowan on Friday, and Taj Bradley against
- 37:58Speaker 3: Robert Gasser on Saturday. Things could go off the rails
- 38:03Speaker 3: pretty quick. Or I also like sports has away fun. Yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 3: sports has a way.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Of being funny fun. Maybe this is the.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Weekend they figure it out, Tyler, who knows.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Yeah, the place is fun to play in Milwaukee. It's
- 38:18Speaker 2: you know, good crowds. One of those the.
- 38:20Speaker 7: Fans show up and they just get going and the
- 38:23Speaker 7: beers are flowing, the barrels are rolling, you know, all
- 38:26Speaker 7: the good things.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Milwaukee is leading the National League seventy one and forty three.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they were first to seventy I'm not mistaken.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Yeah, they're the only ones there at the moment, Dan,
- 38:38Speaker 3: are you gonna be there?
- 38:40Speaker 4: I will be there for Sunday. It looks like I
- 38:42Speaker 4: want to take some days off. This is my today
- 38:45Speaker 4: will be my tenth straight day.
- 38:47Speaker 5: I'm tired. I want to go home.
- 38:50Speaker 2: All right, Well.
- 38:51Speaker 3: That's our pay.
- 38:52Speaker 7: Hey, I've seen the spread you get up there, don't
- 38:56Speaker 7: actually right?
- 38:58Speaker 5: Yeah, that's great, sir.
- 39:01Speaker 4: We don't fly charters direct to the game. We don't
- 39:04Speaker 4: have them roll. Listen in wheelchairs everywhere. If you're like, sir,
- 39:08Speaker 4: would you like to go get a breakfast, And they're like,
- 39:10Speaker 4: they roll a wheelchair to your door and.
- 39:12Speaker 5: You just like you, guys. The massus is on you
- 39:15Speaker 5: up and down the stairs.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Oh lord, all right, well let's get Dan some days off.
