Lucas: Oh, that's great. How are your fingers and toes doing? Luna: They're fine, but today I want to talk about something else. It's so hot outside! How do I say that in Telugu? Lucas: Perfect timing. Let's learn how to describe temperature. The word for 'hot' is వేడిగా. Repeat after me: వేడిగా. Luna: వేడిగా. Lucas: Good. And 'cold' is చల్లగా. Say it: చల్లగా. Luna: చల్లగా. Lucas: Exactly. Now to say 'it is hot' you say వేడిగా ఉంది. Try that. Luna: వేడిగా ఉంది. Lucas: Yes. And 'it is cold' is చల్లగా ఉంది. Say it. Luna: చల్లగా ఉంది. Lucas: Perfect. So if I say 'today is hot', it's ఈ రోజు వేడిగా ఉంది. Listen: ఈ రోజు వేడిగా ఉంది. Luna: ఈ రోజు వేడిగా ఉంది. Oh, that's useful. I can already use this. Lucas: Let's try another. 'The water is cold' is నీళ్ళు చల్లగా ఉన్నాయి. Say it. Luna: నీళ్ళు చల్లగా ఉన్నాయి. Hmm, that's a bit longer. నీళ్ళు means water, right? Lucas: Exactly, you remembered. So నీళ్ళు చల్లగా ఉన్నాయి. Now let's practice these a few times. I'll say the English, you say the Telugu. Luna: Okay, let's do it. Lucas: It is hot. Luna: వేడిగా ఉంది. Lucas: It is cold. Luna: చల్లగా ఉంది. Lucas: Today is hot. Luna: ఈ రోజు వేడిగా ఉంది. Lucas: The water is cold. Luna: నీళ్ళు చల్లగా ఉన్నాయి. Lucas: Excellent. You're really getting it. Let's imagine a scene. Say you walk into a room and it's very hot. You can say ఇక్కడ వేడిగా ఉంది. Luna: ఇక్కడ వేడిగా ఉంది. 'It is hot here.' That's good. Lucas: And if someone offers you a cold drink, you can say ఇది చల్లగా ఉంది, meaning 'this is cold'. Luna: ఇది చల్లగా ఉంది. Nice. I can use that for iced tea. Lucas: Absolutely.
