- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Hollywood goes week.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Go.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: How do you weekend?
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Go.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I'm your host, Mike Wade, my co-host over there, Mike White.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Happy Tuesday.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Rainy, rainy, rainy Tuesday here in Richmond.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: How you living, dude?
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Doing good, man.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: Weather bringing me down a little bit, but uh, yeah, we are officially like halfway through the college football season, believe it or not.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: That's so sad.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: It happened so fast because nuts.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Um, the good news is the um turn that front upside down, sunshine is coming.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: We've got like 10 days of sun in the forecast like after today, so that'll be a big help because like, yeah, it's been like everything is just soggy.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: It's just not fun to go anywhere, get in out of the get the kids in out of the car.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: It's just a pain in the neck.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: So other than that, um, well, first of all, we have to lead off with the lead story.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Um, the Mike Blitz, the Mike Blitz bet of the week, it hit for the first time in uh Mike Blitz history.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: It was the second bet.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, it was ten dollars, it was a seven-leg parlay, um, just crazy time.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Kansas State Wildcats, Indiana Hoosiers, Bringham Young, Oklahoma Sooners, uh, Buffs UCF over, Mamma Money Line, and then Illinois fighting a line I plus 18 paid us$1,600.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: What a win! What a bet.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Um, if you happen to tail the Mike Blitz bet uh every week for the whole time, uh$10, your ROI would be exactly$7,85.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: So it's a pretty good turnaround on your investment.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: Uh what can I say?
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: We're geniuses.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: Everyone else uh is dumb and should follow our lead.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Shout out to uh my high school buddy, uh, two friends, Ronald Lawrence, who did tail us for two dollars, who won 360 or so.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: My buddy Matt Funkhauser who bet five, who won like 700.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: So collectively, you and I made a lot of people.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: I'm pretty sure Eric Ryzen uh made too much off that too.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, did he?
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Nice, I don't think I knew that.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: So collectively, we took like three thousand dollars off the books this week.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: So I feel pretty good about that.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: I feel like our collective geniuses really uh had everything to do with that.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: So we'll of course do a mic blitz better of the week again this week at the end of the show.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Make sure you're listening for that.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Um, if you want to get rich while learning about college football, uh, we're your one place stop for stop stop shop for that.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Um, with that said, let's talk about um, let's go ahead and jump into the um well, do you have anything else you want to talk about really quick before we jump to the next thing?
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Uh we'll get into the matchups and and some of the outcomes.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: Uh no, I mean okay, cool.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Let's uh yeah, we'll get into it.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Then let's um let's go ahead and jump right into it.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh man, I'm struggling.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: There it is.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: All right, this is part of the show where Mike I do our week five autopsy.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: Kind of look back.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: We obviously you guys all know kind of what happened to scores.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: This is where we kind of talk about our kind of general takeaways, things of note, um, things that just kind of are takes that we've had a couple times to kind of let them soak into our brain cerebellum and kind of think about a little bit.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, shout out to Army dominant win, uh, Philly.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Temple, they're four and oh, I think Navy's five and oh as well.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, Army beat Temple in uh Philly with the Eagles Stadium.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: They did their own version of the Tush push in that stadium against Temple.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: I thought that was kind of cool.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Shout out Army, a big win.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: Uh, how about for the troops?
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Their entire offense is like the Tush push over and over.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: It kind of is, it kind of is.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: But the fact that they were doing that in Philly to another Philly school, uh, just felt very appropriate in that respect.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Um, are you ready for two 10-win Army Navy teams?
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Because they're I'm so ready.
- 3:53SPEAKER_04: The troops are good for balance football.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: The troops, man, are good.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Army Navy are both look at their schedules in the American conference.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Like they're both playing Notre Dame, which is tough.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Probably gonna lose those, but like all of their conference games, two lanes, really good, but like those are very, very winnable.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: I would be shocked if at least one of those teams, maybe both, aren't in the AAC final.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: Can we see an army or a navy get into the college football playoff over like at this rate?
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: That's what would it okay?
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Let's over like a UNLV or something.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: So let's let's play the game.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: For that to happen, do either of them have to beat Notre Dame?
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Because that's what it would take, right?
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: An 11-1 team.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: I would think so, yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think they can drop a game, they don't have to run the table, but I think if either of those teams make it, it's gotta be uh they beat Notre Dame and they won the American.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: But I think it's I think and they can drop one other game that's like a two lane or a Memphis or something like that.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: That's probably the path for them for the academies, right?
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think they'd both have to, I think they'd one of them would have to go undefeated, period.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Um, because even a one loss probably excludes them.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: It's something America's good enough.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: You might be right.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Um, but let's just let's just shout out for the troops.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: And what I really want, my my highest hope is obviously the Army Navy game is after the conference championship week.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: It's the kind of it's a obviously the the the show, the pageantry, it's a you know, it's a game.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: It's actually technically it's a non-conference, it's an out-of-conference game, even though they're both in the American.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: So it doesn't even count.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: The point, if they're as good as we think they are, and they're both 11 and 1, 10 and 2, whatever, and they're both in the AAC championships, they're gonna play for the conference championship somewhere.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: I have no idea where the AAC first conference championships, I'll look it up later.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: And then again, the following week in the annual Army Navy game, which is just wild to think about.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, having one game so fun, so fun, one game for the conference championship, like legit hardware, and the next week for like how do you get up for that twice?
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: Like, how do you it's fun because it's Army Navy?
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: If it was like Ohio State, Michigan, I would be like, this is the dumbest thing in the world.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: It's such a unique, very niche thing within the college football universe that we do the Army Name.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: And I've really come to like the Army Navy game more and more every year.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: But the fact that we're gonna have two banging teams in it this year, um, that's good stuff.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Um, moving on.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Also, uh, before Saturday, uh Washington against Rutgers, Rutgers gets a win.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Kyle Manunga is absolutely that dude, Ruckers running back.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: Um, Mike, who gets more wins this year?
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: The Tennessee Volunteers are the fighting Greg Shianos.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: Well, the Vols, obviously.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: You're talking about a potential national champion.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, but you're talking about the potential Hall of Fame coach who's like probably Tennessee should have hired him.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: Like how let's look at what let's look at what the let's look at what Rutgers has done thus far.
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: They beat Howard, Akron, yes, Virginia Tech and Washington.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: Pretty pretty impressive if you have to if you ask me.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: Pretty impressive resume um of just really quality teams.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: 4-0 is 4-0.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: I'll give them 4-0.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Uh moving on.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Uh, who is the biggest fraud in the AP top 12 right now?
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Olmus with a loss, loss to Kentucky.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: We'll talk, we can talk about quickly.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Missouri, who just looks bad against bad teams, or Michigan, who don't doesn't know what a forward pass is.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Of those three teams, like if you had to if if they were gonna play like a three-team tournament, like who's gonna win?
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Who would you pick?
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Like, who do you like in those teams?
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Like, who's and who do you not like?
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Um, ooh, that's tough because I think Missouri still has the ability to really hit another gear.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: They've won their games, they've just looked really bad doing it.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: I think like who has the highest ceiling is probably still Ole Miss, although that loss is probably gonna come back to bite them pretty bad.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: Uh, if you're if you're if you're putting these in like a three-team round robin in a neutral site, I think Michigan is the worst of the of the three, right?
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: Okay, because Missouri is more explosive on offense, higher end gear.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't although I do I will say I think Michigan Ole Miss right now is a really interesting matchup because Michigan has the ability to grind the ball, pound them, slow the game down.
- 7:55SPEAKER_02: Kind of the recipe that Kentucky just used to win that game.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and honestly, Ole Miss's offensive line stinks.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, Kentucky was in their backfield all day.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: Like there was a world where Michigan lines up with them and they just they're just pounding them.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: You know, like I mean, to say Michigan isn't explosive is like, I mean, they're they're not even they're not even like a snake or like a firecracker, they are like a sparkler stick.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Their offense is so non-explosive, it's unbelievable.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Um, but like they're really physically imposing.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think all three of them are.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: This is kind of the rub, and you and I have had this conversation before, like one or maybe two of these teams are gonna be in the playoff.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: Right now, I'm like, none of them should be.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't none of them learned it.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I love what you said about this.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Go ahead.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Let's not discount completely though what Kentucky was able to do on defense because um yeah, in that Georgia game, we all we all said Georgia sleptwalk in that game, yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Um, but maybe Kentucky just has a really good defense.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: They held Georgia to to to 13 points, and Georgia just Georgia just lit up Alabama.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: So maybe Kentucky's just legit on D.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean Mark Stoops has always had salty units, so I think it's something percent for that.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: And I mean, like the the the loss of 31-6 South Carolina did look pretty bad at the time, but like that the those 31 points mostly weren't the defense's fault.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: The defense did it's did its did its job in that in that regard.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: So, no, I think um it you have to give you some respect on the Kentucky Wildcats defense.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure how many NFL guys they are they have on that unit, but like they were they are big and strong, and like Ole Miss had really no answer for them.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, speaking of which, let's just go ahead and talk about that game really quick.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Any so here's my question about Ole Miss.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: We talked about Kentucky defense, that's how they won.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: They won the game.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Ole Miss is like Florida State, like Colorado, but to a much lesser extent, with all these mercenaries.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: This is an ugly loss for a team that had the intentions of competing for the playoff national championship.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: Is there a world where they lose another game and they play they go at the road, South Carolina next week at LSU?
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: I think they probably could lose one of those games.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: Is that a night game?
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: Is it a night game with Bryce?
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure if it's a night game this week.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: If they lose one or two of those games, does this team mail it in and quit?
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: You can't.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: I'm just I'm thinking about all these guys that are mercenaries, effectively.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: They're here for six months, eight months, going to the next level, not necessarily bought into old Miss Rebels tradition.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Like, are you sure that this team doesn't mail it in?
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Has Lane Kidman moved on to the Florida job already?
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: They did kind of go all in on this year, bringing in a lot of transfers, empty in the pockets.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: You know, this team was not built um traditionally from with the high school route.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: It's tough to say.
- 10:36SPEAKER_02: I don't, you know, looking at their schedule, I could easily see three losses, you know.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: But actually, yeah, I still think Ole Miss is a very good team.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: I don't think I don't think this this is a team that's teetering on that conversation yet.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, if if it's it's too early for me to to to make that assumption just based on what Florida State went through.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: It's a completely different scenario.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: And we're talking about uncharted waters, it's just like an interesting layer to college football.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: It's like this team of mercenaries that you can effectively go out and buy to do the work you want them to do and fill the holes.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Like, what's the rub?
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: Like they're not high school kids, they're not, they're not, they're not, they don't bleed purple and gold or orange and white, or they're not, you know, they're not diehard fans, they don't, you know, they're not familiar with the team that much.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: They're not familiar, they haven't been in the trenches with these guys for years, redshirting the weight program, any of this stuff.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: So, like, is that going to be a layer in college when you're talking about 85, 20 year olds?
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't we really think that's why culture is so important.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: You I totally agree.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: That word thrown around, but like it's true.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: You know, you gotta have um a a guy that the that the team wants to play for, they have to want to play for each other.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, they're still competitors, they still love to play the game of football.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: Like, let's not just say, like, I know you're using the term mercenary loosely, but like, you know, these guys want to play, they're they love to play football.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: They're still 18, 19-year-old kids, there's still a care factor in like going out there and competing and having fun.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, there's still a that's still a big part of it.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Maybe you get a couple guys in there that like you know could maybe care about themselves more than the team, but that's that's always been true.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: I just think if there's a world where let's if there's an eight and four LSU team, or I was gonna say eight and three LSU team, eight, three Tennessee team, and an eight and three oldness team.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: And they've got guys that are NFL fringe guys, I think the people in the on the at the that were transfers are more likely to opt out.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: Like, I think you're gonna see more and more of that than you would see on a Tennessee or an LSU and the those fourth and fifth year seniors writing out their last game and kind of want to go on a high note.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: We don't know enough, it hasn't been enough time and to into this NIL transfer portal era, so the sample size isn't there.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: But I'm I'm just have to I have to wonder, you know, like what is it?
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think it's it's it's gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.
- 12:49SPEAKER_02: This is not a it's not a new conversation because this started happening with with bowl opt-outs, but that was because everyone started telling them these are meaningless games, these were never meaningless games to the kids.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: They always wanted to play in these games.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: It was only until every week they turned on ESPN and ESPN only wanted to talk about the playoff, only wanted to talk about the playoff.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: This is a meaningless game, blah blah blah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: And guess what?
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: You preach that hard enough and they sprinkle in a little cash.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's it's a recipe for meaningless games.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I still don't think they're meaningless, they still matter to me.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: No, more college football, more better.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: I'm in the same game as you, but I can't help but wonder what.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: And also, let's be honest, I'm biased, I'm jealous.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm not jealous.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: I want Ole Miss to mail it in.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: We play them in two weeks, it would be great.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: If there's a what I what I really want is a world where Ole Miss goes to South Carolina, loses, they show up in Death Valley, deflated, tired, fatigued, and we roll and get our win.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: But you know, what I can do.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: I'm a fan.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: All right, let's keep it going.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Um, Penn State physically pounded Illinois.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: That game was only 21 to 7, the final score, but it was never really close.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: I watched this game a lot because it was in our it was in our um parlay, it was plus 18.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that game this game was never really close.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Kron Allen and Nick Singleton are awesome running back tandem, the best tandem in the country, I for my money, outside of what they got in Ohio State.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Um, I really like what Andy Cole Neki off the coordinator is doing.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: We said it before, their offensive line, defensive line are just big, bruising dudes.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: And Illinois is not a pushover, they beat Nebraska, they were undefeated coming into this.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying Illinois is Iowa or Michigan, but they're they're big SC, they're big Big Ten boys.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: And yeah, what's the um blah blah blah?
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm I'm I'm rambling.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: What is the case against Penn State?
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: Why aren't they being talked about to be, I mean, to challenge for the Big Ten, to challenge it for a deep run the playoff.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: What's my I will say I I don't think that we've heard enough buzz around Penn State for where we are in the season just because of the shakeup in the Big Ten.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: You know, you've got Oregon, you've got USC, though the exciting teams that talk about Ohio State and Michigan are always gonna be those teams, you know, kind of the default leaders of of the Big Ten.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: Um I am surprised that we haven't heard as much about Penn State yet.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: Um so I don't I don't know.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: I think I think they are definitely, you know, I I still want to know who they are.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: They haven't been tested yet.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: Few teams to this point have, but this was a decent test early in the season.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: Um when you start beating up on legit, you know, good teams, middle to upper, kind of that that, you know, maybe second tier of the conference teams, and you're beating them like that.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: That's that's a statement.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: It's definitely a statement for me.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: And and Drew Lars putting up, you know, three touchdowns and what 300 yards.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: Uh, and that was the big question mark for them.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: Were they gonna be more explosive on offense?
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: You know, maybe a slight yes there.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: Um we're gonna find out here.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: I mean, they're going, they're they got UCLA at home this week, not gonna be a challenge.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: They go at USC.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be really interested to see because USC, well, they might not be super physical, they will stretch the field, they're really dynamic, they're gonna push them in a lot of ways after going cross-country is a tough game.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: I think I think maybe after a USC win, if they go out there and get the win, obviously, we might be talking more about them.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: But they're just very quietly sitting there at number seven, just not getting any much buzz.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: And maybe it's a good thing, maybe it's a good thing for Penn State, kind of flying under the radar.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: Um, one thing, one thing.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: All right, move on.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: Uh, speaking of more uh Big Ten kind of rivalry.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: So I'm looking at this Michigan team.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Uh, they almost lost Minnesota.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Um, they're obviously have talented running backs, talented defense, three or four first rounders on that defense specifically.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: They cannot beat Ohio State.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: The version of this football team, there is no world they can beat Ohio State.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: No, they can win every other game their schedule, save for maybe Oregon.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: My question for you is can Michigan find a way to muck it up, play.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Can this version of whatever Michigan is, can it beat can it beat Oregon?
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: I know it can't beat Ohio State, but can it beat Oregon?
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: I don't think we've seen what Oregon's gonna look like yet.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: I think we've seen who Michigan is.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: I feel like I've got a pretty good understanding of what Michigan is and what they can be this year.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: Um with the way Oregon's played thus far, I think Michigan could have a shot.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: But with where I think Oregon's gonna be by the time that game rolls around, no, I don't think so.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: Even though it's at Michigan.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: It is at Michigan, yeah.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: November 2nd.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: And we're gonna know a lot about Oregon here in a couple weeks when they play Ohio State.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: But I think, yeah, I think what we've seen, Oregon is just too talented and too explosive, too athletic, uh, and they can put up too many points.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: But again, you know, it's how that game plays out.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: It's fighting styles, you know, make charts.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: Um, and and so this could be, you know, kind of that Kentucky Ole Miss type game.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: That's what Michigan wants it to be.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm kind of asking.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm kind of driving at.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: I've been unimpressed, underwhelmed with um Oregon's offensive line and defensive line so far this season.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: And like, so like I'm starting, I'm starting to wonder of like, is Oregon just like a rich man's old miss, just like really, really talented.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: But when it comes to like in the trenches, like can't really play that kind of physical bully ball.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: So like we'll find out more.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: And uh, maybe Michigan, I don't know, maybe Michigan will learn how to throw an out route, you know, seven yards.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: The game's a long way away.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: I mean, as we know in college football, these these teams change week to week, and there's a lot to be figured out, but I think when you look at the matchup right now, I'm giving Michig Michigan uh a snowball's chance, you know, to to win that one.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: Uh let's move on.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: Windiana, four turnovers to zero, still one by 14 points.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: Gotta love the JMU Hoosiers, Indiana Duke Dogs are getting it done.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: Uh, Kurt Signetti is do you see the message to his uh to the players after that game?
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: It was really, really awesome.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm shout out Indiana.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: They're gonna win nine-10 games.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: They only have like three or four bowls, probably bowl eligible teams on their rock on their schedule anyway.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: Um, we're gonna be talking about Indiana Hoosiers here pretty soon.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: That that's pretty great.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Um, any other Big Ten thoughts?
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: I think I'm gonna move on with Big Ten.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: Um heartbreak for Minnesota.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Um that onside's kick was clear.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: That was a terrible call.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Minnesota should recover that onside's kick.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: They had a chance to win that game, but you know what he did.
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I think that's it for the Big Ten moving right now.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: Big game for Nebraska and Rutgers coming up.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, which we'll talk about a little in a second.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Um, Aranda, uh, he is dead man walking.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: He lost again.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Um, I just I I think we're I think our we have sold our stock.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: I got a question for you, Mike.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: The Big 12 is a just disaster.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: Utah lost to Arizona, um, Oklahoma State lost, Kansas bottomed out.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: Um K-State looked terrible against BYU last week.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: Utah lost to Arizona because they didn't have cameras.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Which I mean, not just because, but this, yes, but at this point, I'm I don't think Utah has camerizing anymore.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure he's on their team anymore.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: And if he does, even if they do get him back, are we sure he's gonna be the guy?
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: He hasn't he's played two games in like 30 months or something, whatever, whatever it's been.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, huge camerizing fan.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: He's dealt with injuries his entire career.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I thought they could win that game without him to be.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: I thought so.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: So did I.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: But my point is, I just I'm expecting Utah to be without him until somebody until I see that guy with the long flowing locks out in the field flowing at his helmet.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm assuming Utah was gonna be at this point.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: He's a myth.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: He is a myth.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: He is a myth, he is a unicorn.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: Um, without looking, who do you think are the top four best odds to win the Big 12 according to Vegas?
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm gonna go with the uh Iowa State Cyclones.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: That's one.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: Um without looking.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: Um, I guess Iowa.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: But the I the Big Ten.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: I was Big Ten.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, sorry.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: Uh I don't know, man.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: K-State, Iowa State, oh yeah, K-State.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Of course, K-State, Utah, even without Cam Rising, as we think, and Arizona are your top four teams.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: And it's a massive drop off.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: There's like a five-way tie with like UCF, Colorado, which is now four and one.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, we should talk about them in a second.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: I was I was oh yeah, I saw an interesting tweet.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: The if you take out Houston, which is probably the worst team in Power Four, they are truly abysmal.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: If you take them out, the other 15 teams on a neutral site are only a touchdown difference.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: Like it is insane.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: The high to the low is this small.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Like, there's no there's no discrepancy, there's nobody great, there's nobody really that bad.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: The I mean, the two conference champions championship games, both teams are gonna be like eight and three, nine and you know, they're gonna be we kind of talked about that early season.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: I mean, we kind of were like, I mean, it's kind of a crapshoot, yeah.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: And BYU is solid, but they're not no, and BYU Vegas doesn't even put them in the top 10 to win the to win their own conference, they're not just they're not even the top 10, top half chances.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: So, like BYU is getting no love, which is too bad because I like Jackson.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: Do we have to start talking about Dion now?
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: Do we have to bring back Colorado?
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: We should we have to talk about Dion.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: So, my only question I only have one Dion question.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: It really is like, well, one more about UCF.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: One, KJ Jefferson does not fit what Gus Malzan is doing.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: And why in the world is he throwing the ball at Travis Hunter?
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Colorado's got four guys that are elite, maybe three.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: One of them plays cornerback on that side of the field.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: Throw it over there.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: It's a good question.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: Seems simple enough to me, but I don't have guys flying at me.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not an extender.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: No one's in my ear.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: He's just a human highlight reel.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: He continues to do incredible things.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: It's just like I'm I'm surprised.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: They were 14-point dogs going playing that game.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: And that game was never close.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: They won 48 to 21, I believe.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: And the bounce house was was a scene.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: It was rocking.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: They were ready.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: They were ready for they were ready for Prime.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: And uh Prime said, Well, hold my beer because take this, take this, hold this L UCF.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: And they just put it on them.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: So who's that?
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: They also ran the ball, which is the first time Colorado's run the ball in the Prime era.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Um, I just I thought I thought UCF was gonna be ready to play physical defense.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: On I knew we always knew they couldn't defend the pass.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: That's been UCF's major flaw this year, but they were pretty good against the run.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: And Colorado, who doesn't even try to run the ball, ran all over them.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I know I didn't know much about UCF.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: I thought they were a pretty good team.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: Maybe they're just bad.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: I'm still not ready to give Colorado a ton of credit, to be honest.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: No, I think I was bullish on more than UCF.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you why.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: It's just because I just think Cosmo's hand's a good coach and he always puts together these good teams that are always really good at running the ball.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: He took Nick, what's his name?
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: Nick Thompson, the defensive back to the national championship in 2013, running that offense.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: Like, so I figured at UCF with that level of speed and athlete, like he's gonna run over the Big 12, and that's just has not been the case.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: So uh that's my Big 12 takes.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: All right, move on to the SEC, which has been which was the uh we'll we'll do the homers after that.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Uh Oklahoma at Auburn.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: I was impressed with Peyton Thorne.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: He actually played it for his first good game for the first 55 minutes of the that game.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: Brutal, brutal backbreaking uh pick six.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: Uh Oklahoma's defense is good.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Um I think their offense is I think their offense is broken until for those.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: I think Tennessee can broke them substantially.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: I think that they if they can continue to win games like this, they can they can figure it out.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: I think.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: I don't think I think I think this was a huge win for them that they needed desperately.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: Hawkins Jr.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: has a lot of potential, but he's still still really green.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: He's an athlete.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and they've had so many injuries.
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, they had their top five wide receivers out, they had offensive linemen out left and right.
- 24:59SPEAKER_02: If they can just limp along a little bit longer, they could they could make some waves.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: I mean, they're still a good team.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: Their defense is very good.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, their front seven is absolutely legit.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: And then I'm I I mean, I nobody should be surprised.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: Brent Venables has done this at a high level for a long time.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: Um, so him having him having Oklahoma access to those kind of athletes, yeah, they're gonna have a good defense.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: So could be a good thing.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Auburn continues to find different ways of these games, painful, but painful, painful Auburn fan.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: Definitely the turnovers, though.
- 25:27SPEAKER_02: Uh their offense is actually, you know, they can move the ball.
- 25:29SPEAKER_02: They did, they think it's a good Oklahoma defense.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they outgained him by 200 yards, mainly because Oklahoma's offense was just sputtering so much.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: Like I think Auburn is on the right track.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: I think uh Hugh Freeze.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: While my personal feelings of him as a human are not very high, I think he's good at being a football coach, and I think he has that team on the right trajectory.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: Um, but um, not great.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: He does he does keep saying really dumb things, and he puts his foot in his mouth power five time.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: God, you know, just not ideal, not ideal.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: Um, let's move on.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: Uh to the game of the week.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, game of maybe maybe the game of the season, Georgia, Bama, everybody lost it.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: War, uh, Caitlin DeBore, fabulous job coaching.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Didn't show them uh cover zero the whole the whole season, really impressive.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: Uh Jalen Milrow has actually gotten better, which is scary to me.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: I'm probably to you too because we're looking really good.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: He looked really, really good.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: Um, my general takeaway was that um Georgia was outcoached, but and they were kind of punched in the mouth.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: But they're still really good and they came back.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: There was it's not easy to come back down 28 points in Tuscaloosa.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Very few teams have done that in the last 30 years, just in general.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: Um, I I didn't uh Carson Beck went five for five on fourth down, plus like five more that were converted due to PIs or penalties.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Like they were super, super clutch down the stretch.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: They just didn't show up for the first 25 minutes, was kind of my takeaway.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this one big, big, big picture takeaways for me.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: Both of these teams are very good.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: Both of these teams are gettable.
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: They're gettable.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: They're not they're not the Bama and Georgia in previous years.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: Um, four turnovers from Georgia.
- 27:07SPEAKER_02: I still think it's a little bit of an indictment to Bama that they let them back in the game to take the lead late.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: I think Bama's secondary looked good early, very shaky late.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: Uh Georgia couldn't run the ball against a questionable potentially Bama defense right now.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: They only ran the I know they had to have been in the run a little bit, but they still only ran the ball for 80 yards.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: And I think they still had like 20 plus rushing attempts.
- 27:35SPEAKER_02: So even yeah, 20, yeah, 25, something like that.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: Um, they couldn't run the ball.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: Uh, but yeah, I mean, yeah, outside of that, Milro is a beast.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: He's gonna be extremely hard to to to bottle up.
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: And of course, the emergence of Mr.
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: kill everyone.
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: Uh, Ryan Williams.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: Williams, holy smokes, 17 years old, uh, just absolute insane phenomena.
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: He's gonna be giving us nightmares, Zalo June Tennessee fans, for many years.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Um, good game.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: Fantastic game, though.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, fantastic game.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: I'm not budging off my Georgia pick.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: I think Carson Beck didn't look as didn't look his best.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: And I agree with you on the Georgia run game.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: It found a little bit of light, the end of the game.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: Trevor, Trevor Etienne, the younger Etienne, he did okay in the fourth quarter.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: Um, and honestly, it was just that one play at the end, they came all the way back, they had the lead in Tuscaloosa after being down 28.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: Like, I Georgia gets credit for that, and I think you're right.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Alabama, the day, how do you let the foot off your gas of a team like that in Tuscaloosa?
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: The crowd was up, the place was electric, and they still don't come all the way back.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: It's certainly an indictment.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: Still very, very high.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: I thought the game was over.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna, I thought the game was over at the half.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: So did I, so did I, and uh we were we were wrong.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: All right, uh, let's jump to the homers.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Um, in arguably the craziest thing in college football history, the Friday night, Virginia Tech at Miami.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: We'll get to the call last, but really quickly.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Um, Anton Powell Powell Ryland, their defensive end, is an absolute stud.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: He's leaning the nation in sacks.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: Uh, Michelle Tootin has been nothing but impressive, 100 yards and a touchdown in every game so far this season.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: He looks even more impressive.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: Turned to an absolute, they ran all over a very, very impressive Miami front.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: Really, really, really happy with that.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: A loss is a loss, and we'll talk about the call in a second.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: Let's just put the call aside for a second to you.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: A loss is a loss.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: Virginia Tech is two and three.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: Is Pry stock up or down after what should have been a blowout wasn't?
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: Had the game won.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: Like, where's your where are you on prick five games in?
- 29:35SPEAKER_02: I still think it's stocked down.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Um, and I know some people are gonna look at this game and and kind of think moral victory, or we should have won that game.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: Got screwed at the end a little bit.
- 29:45SPEAKER_02: Like, guys were prepared, they played well.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: Um, I kind of look at it the opposite.
- 29:50SPEAKER_02: I think Cam Ward had his worst game of the season.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: He played really strong down the stretch.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: Granted, he made some really nice plays down the stretch.
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: But Miami was like kind of begging to give that game away.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: And in very in multiple instances, Virginia Tech said, nah, I don't want it.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: The the one of the biggest things that comes to mind, Cam Ward throws a pick, a really bad pick.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: Um, they return it back basically into almost in the field goal range, maybe after a couple plays, and Fry decides to go for it, doesn't get it.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: If he takes the field goal, the end of the game could could have played out completely differently.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: You're kicking a field goal to potentially win the game easily.
- 30:35SPEAKER_02: Instead, you're throwing it, you know.
- 30:37SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: It's it doesn't it didn't make sense to me.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: And to me, there were several times in that game that he mismanaged it.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: Uh so yeah, they played well, got some some life out of the guys, got screwed at the end.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: We're gonna talk about that, but I still think stock down.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't hate that.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, you could talk you could talk me into stock up a little bit, maybe nothing neutral, because I mean I I was very, very impressed with their game plan and their ability to run the ball as well as they did.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: Virginia Tech's offensive line played an awesome game.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: Um, they ran all over Miami.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: If they do that for the next seven games, they could win them all, including Clemson in Blacksburg in November.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Do that again, keep doing that.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: But no, the fake field goal call was atrocious.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: The clock management leading up to that Hail Mary, they were down by four, and they had a minute and 20 seconds, and they were doing like five yards play, no hurry up.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: Like, what were they doing?
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: It was Brent Pry and Mario Christopher might be the two worst game managers as coaches, not just the game manager aspect, and they were trying to out worse the other at game management in that game.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: So I some things went well, some things went, lost the loss.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: That's just that was just a punch in the gut.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: So let's talk about the hail marriage really quick.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: Obviously, as well as you all know, they uh last play of the game.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: Uh Kyron Jones heaved one up.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: Uh Allie Jennings, I think it was the guy was maybe it was Taquan, maybe it was Felton.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: Not sure.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: There were a couple guys with hands on the ball.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: I think it was Taquan Finn, actually.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: And he had the ball, and somebody came down with it.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: They called it a touchdown on the field.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: Went to review.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: I don't know what they saw, they overturned it.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: Uh give me your thoughts.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: Um, I think you gotta trust procedurally.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: First off, there wasn't enough to overturn it.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: No chance.
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's nothing there's nothing there to overturn it at all.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: Um, it was a cluster, lots of hands on the ball.
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: Uh, there were four guys there that potentially had possession at one point.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: I think you gotta just stick with the call in the field.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: Do I think he actually caught it on the field?
- 32:39SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: But the call sort of stood.
- 32:42SPEAKER_02: There was definitely not enough to over overturn it.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: Uh, Virginia Tech definitely got screwed.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: Um, but I don't, I mean, I don't think there's a big conspiracy.
- 32:52SPEAKER_02: I think it's just one of many poor officiating instances that we see across college football every week.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: I think my take is the exact same.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: That's really what I hate the way because if you if you had said no, he didn't catch it on the field, I've been like, yeah, okay, maybe he didn't.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: And like I if I had to like put money on it, I would say I think he caught it with about 52% confidence, you know.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm I'm really, really guessing.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: But the fact of the matter is, is like the whole rule is indisputable evidence.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: Like, that is the thing.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: And yeah, all they did was they might have gotten to the right call.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Maybe it wasn't a cash.
- 33:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's I'm I'm cool with that, but they got to it the wrong way.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: They disregarded all the precedent that they've set and they worked backwards and they ended up where they shouldn't, which is Miami won the game, and here's a kind of a reason about a hand moving.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: What they what the ACC official statement said didn't help anything, didn't make it any more clear at all.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: So if I'm a tech fan, I'm really, really furious about that.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: Because I mean, we all know that you've got to control the ball, yeah.
- 33:51SPEAKER_02: And someone's got to control the ball, and there were, you know, there's a Miami player who's half out of bounds with his hands also on the ball.
- 33:58SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of justification that there was no catch, but rules catch on the field, can't overturn it.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: I got no again, yeah.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: I got no problem with not calling it a catch on the field, but those are the rules in writing.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: That's what we're supposed to do.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: They didn't do it, they got they got job in that respect.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: So yeah, hopefully hookies can bounce back.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: Uh all right, last homework, really quick.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: Um, uh South Alabama at LSU, pretty much exactly what we wanted.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: Going to the bye week, 42 to 10, solid beatdown.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Um, Harold Perkins is out for the year at the ACL.
- 34:26SPEAKER_01: Um, West Weeks and Whitweek and Whitweeks slid into his place, played really well, very minimal breakdowns.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: Um, uh Garrett Nussmeyer had a nice day, 400 yards, three touchdowns, accounted for four touchdowns, two throwing, two rushing.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Yes, he threw two lazy picks kind of late in the game, but overall, the story was South Alabama has this incredible rushing attack.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: They've been rushing all over the Sun Belt, and LSU has had these big chunk play breakdowns.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: Like, do your job, plug your hole, know your man, and they did that for 60 minutes.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: So, going into the bye week to host Ole Miss in two weeks, exactly what we wanted out of.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you watched the second of this game.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: The opening play was a Caden Durham 80 yard uh to the house call screen pass, and then he ran the ball the next time he had the possession for another one.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: So, like it was over immediately.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's what you like to see.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was um it was exactly what we wanted to see.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: We're gonna get a little bit healthier.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: Hopefully, we get Chris Hilton back, our deep threat guy.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: Um, and then we got old miss and next week.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: So LSU's sitting at four and one after a rough US East opener, you know, kind of feeling I feeling feeling all right, feeling all right.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh, anything else before we jump into week six?
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: No, that was plenty.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I sure was.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: I'm full.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: I'm full on week five.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: Week six.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, let's start with uh I think the only interesting game on Friday night, Syracuse at UNLV.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: UNLV is a hot topic, obviously, because Matt Sluka, the guy who opted out uh three games in due to a weird NIL off-season discrepancy, no agent, whole just a mess.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: No problem.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: Haj Malik Williams came in, absolutely crushed Fresno.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: They are six, they're almost a touchdown favorite.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Syracuse is pretty good.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: Um, you got any UNLV Syracuse takes for me?
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: Um, no, this is a kind of an interesting, juicy little Friday night matchup.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: Louisville looked strong against Notre Dame.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, we talked a lot about UNLV at Syracuse.
- 36:14SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, sorry.
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: I was thinking uh the Louisville matchup.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: Um Syracuse looked good.
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: Uh they've they've looked good all season.
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: They're a strong team.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: Uh, we'll know kind of a little bit more if UNLB is kind of legit.
- 36:27SPEAKER_02: This is a good little test for them.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: They're supposed to be the number one team in the G.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Like in there, they're they're probably right now the odds-on favorite to win the G5 playoff spot, but Syracuse is not messing around.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, Will Howard, the uh the former Ohio State quarterback, transferred they lost that tough game to Stanford last week or week before, but overall, I think they're three and one, four and one.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: Um, I like uh Syracuse to uh keep it close, maybe win.
- 36:52SPEAKER_01: So I'll take Syracuse going on the road, getting six and a half.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: You gotta pick on this one.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: Oof.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Do you like the new version of UNLV?
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: With or do you like no, no?
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: I think I'm gonna stick with Syracuse just because I think they're probably stronger um roster overall.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: Okay, so I'm gonna stick with Syracuse.
- 37:10SPEAKER_02: I like the story of UNLV, but I just don't know.
- 37:13SPEAKER_02: I don't trust it.
- 37:14SPEAKER_02: Uh I think Syracuse is good enough to stifle them.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: Uh Missouri uh at Texas AM.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: Texas AM is a one-point favorite.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: This game is at noon.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, Texas AM's offense is hard to watch.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, I get what they're doing with Marcel Reid.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: I get the Connor Wagman's not healthy or he's just not who he is anymore.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: But this game is just hard.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: This is hard to watch, which is why they lost the Notre Dame game, in my opinion.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm gonna take the run game, the defense, and Kyle Fields.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: I think you've been to Kyle Field yourself, I believe.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, fantastic environment.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: I just I think it's a tough place to play, and I'm I'm I I'm pretty sure I made the take that Missouri was phony two weeks ago.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna stand by that.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: I got AM pulling this one out.
- 37:51SPEAKER_01: Uh, give me your Missouri AM takes.
- 37:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I like that as well.
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: I think that um they've got enough athletes and Missouri just hasn't shown me.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: I think they're capable of a of a higher ceiling, but four weeks in and they haven't looked good yet.
- 38:06SPEAKER_02: Why do we expect them to turn it on going to the Aggies?
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and in such a brutal environment, it doesn't make it doesn't make a lot of sense to me either.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: Um, anything anything else on that?
- 38:18SPEAKER_02: It is a noon, it is a noon kick, which not gonna be, you know, it's gonna be hot as it's not as sweet if you're an Aggi fan.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: So it's not.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, give me the uh give me the Aggies to get done.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: SMU, who just beat the brakes off of Florida State, uh four and one.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: They're going at Louisville.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: Louisville's also four and one coming off a tough loss at Notre Dame.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: I would have talked about the Louisville Notre Dame game, but I didn't watch it because it was on stupid Peacock.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: So you tell me what you think about Notre Dame, uh, Louisville.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: I don't watch that game, so I don't really know.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, my mind was my mind's been on that game because we talked about it a little bit.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: I was hoping Louisville could could pull that upset.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: Uh, they still played really well.
- 38:54SPEAKER_02: I mean, they had a chance to win that one.
- 38:56SPEAKER_02: I still think that they're a strong team and can can best SMU.
- 39:00SPEAKER_02: It's also at home, and Louisville, I think, makes a big difference.
- 39:03SPEAKER_01: So is a good team.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: SMU beating Florida State means nothing to me.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 39:09SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 39:09SPEAKER_01: So SMU Louisville minus seven.
- 39:11SPEAKER_01: SMU remember, remember, they're a bad field goal collapse versus BY from undefeated.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: So SMU almost 5-0.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Um, but Louisville, Jeff Brahm, Corey Brooks, the Alabama Transfer Wide Receiver, um, Tyler Shuck, I think that's how you say his name.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: They're kind of dealing with Shuck.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, uh I like Shuck.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: Who do you like?
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: You like SMU plus seven or Louisville minus seven?
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: No, I like Louisville.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: Louisville cover?
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'm going with you, Jim.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: I'm going to Louisville minus.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: I actually'm gonna ride your wisdom on that one.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, Iowa, minus 20 and a half at Ohio State, at Columbus, at the shoe.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: I only brought this game up for two reasons.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: Iowa, not capable of winning, they just aren't.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: They're not going the road, three touch of dogs and but they do have a very good defense.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: And they do have Caleb Johnson, who's currently the number two rusher in college football right now.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: So Iowa is going to push.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: We're this is a let's learn about Ohio State game for me.
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: How does Ohio State deal with the top flight defense and how they deal with the top flight rushing attack?
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: Um, it kind of looks like a poor man's Michigan game moving forward.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: And I'm curious to see if Ohio State, who has been not untested so far this season, what they actually look like with those certain tests.
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm interested to see what kind of numbers their offense puts up and how that plays out, how they how they get their yards, how they get their points.
- 40:28SPEAKER_02: Um, see if Iowa can can muck it up a little bit.
- 40:31SPEAKER_02: But that's a big number.
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: Um, but I s yeah, that's a big number.
- 40:34SPEAKER_02: I still think Ohio State probably covers, but Ohio State covers.
- 40:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, I mean, I kind of I kind of I kind of lean in that way.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna we're gonna leave that one out because I kind of think Iowa keeps it close.
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: So we'll leave that one out of the uh the mic blitz uh super bad.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: Um ruckers uh at Nebraska, Nebraska minus seven.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: I gotta be honest with you.
- 40:52SPEAKER_01: It feels like I'm watching my two kids um uh fight.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: Um, I love Nebraska and I love uh Rutgers this year.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: Those are like two of my like kind of favorite teams.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: Feel really good about them.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: It's a battle of the red off.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: Um there's gonna be it's gonna be an incredible environment in Lincoln, Nebraska.
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: Um, the good the the matchup for me is Kamanungay behind that Rutgers offensive line, which is actually pretty good going against Nebraska's defensive front, which I thought was a little bit tougher.
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: Illinois kind of pushed them around.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: Um, and also what can the Rutgers kind of senior-led defense do against the true freshman?
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: Can they bring some pressure?
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: Dylan Riola kind of throw some crazy looks at him.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: Give me your um great fighting Greg Shianos against the Cornhauscars.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'll say you know the the Rutgers D's been pretty salty.
- 41:37SPEAKER_02: Um, I still think Nebraska's offense is explosive enough to give them the edge here and probably cover because they're at home.
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: And if this game gets if they get a little separation early, they're not gonna, they're not gonna have to look back.
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: Rutgers is gonna try to lean on that run game.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: And uh, yeah, I think Nebraska gets a gets a nice one here.
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: As Rutgers is in ascension mode, trying to you know crack and hold that top 25 status.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: Uh, I think uh Nebraska reigns on their parade.
- 42:07SPEAKER_01: All right, I'll go, I'll I'll I'll I'll tell you on that one as well.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: It breaks my heart, but I think you're right.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: Um, I I also think that um uh uh Athan Calic Manis, the the Greek rifle, uh the former Minnesota quarterback, I just don't think he's that good.
- 42:22SPEAKER_01: I think Greg Shiano's done a good job of optimizing him, kind of managing him, managing him to play within his game.
- 42:27SPEAKER_01: But I just think it's gonna be, I mean, playing in Lincoln is gonna be insane.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: It's going to be loud, it's going to be crazy up there.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: And I don't I don't know that they're ready for that.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna go ahead and go.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: I'll I'll I'll lay those points.
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: I got Nebraska covering as well.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: Nebraska needs this one too.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: They do.
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: I mean, not that I mean, just the situation they're in.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: I think this kind of sets up well for timing.
- 42:46SPEAKER_02: Sometimes plays a big part in college football.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: I think they're I mean, I mean, I know this, they're gonna be up for it.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: They know that this is this is a gettable Rutgers.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: They're not bad.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: Rutgers isn't bad, they're gonna take them seriously, they're gonna do their work, they're gonna prep really hard.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: Rule's gonna have those guys ready to go.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: Um, and it's gonna be a big raucous environment.
- 43:04SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, I'll take the courthouse here to get to get the win and cover.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Ole Miss at South Carolina, Ole Miss is laying nine and a half.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: I love South Carolina getting plus nine and a half at home at Williams Bryce.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: That defensive line is going to absolutely feast on Ole Miss's front.
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie to you, Mike.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: This feel this feels this is one of those situations in sports betting where you're like, oh my god, of course they're gonna win.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, this is a slam dunk.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go ahead and count my money right now.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: This feels like the easiest bet all day.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: Why is it not?
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: I think old Miss has their back against the wall.
- 43:43SPEAKER_02: I I love where you're coming from, and I agree with you because I think this is dangerous, and South Carolina has shown to be a very dangerous team at times.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: Um, they are dealing with some injuries, I think, uh at the the quarterback spot and at the running back spot, which is um, yeah, I don't know how minor or major they are.
- 44:01SPEAKER_02: I think they're practicing, but a little dinged up.
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: Ole Miss with their backs against the wall, going on the road.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: This is uh this is a really juicy matchup.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: I I do like it.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: Uh I could see this going either way, to be honest.
- 44:13SPEAKER_02: I could see Ole Miss just stomping them out in revenge mode.
- 44:16SPEAKER_02: And I could see South Carolina um, I could see South Carolina winning outright a close one.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: I don't think there's any situation where South Carolina runs and hides with this one.
- 44:27SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 44:27SPEAKER_02: Um, and I don't think that South Carolina is gonna run the try to run the same style uh game plan that Kentucky did.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: Kentucky was very methodical, you know, leaned heavily on the run game, mixed in two of two quarters.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: Back situation ran like twice as many plays as Old Miss did.
- 44:43SPEAKER_02: Um, so I can't, I can't, I could see this happening where South Carolina pulls up the upset.
- 44:48SPEAKER_02: Um, I like taking the points here, uh, but um yeah, I think this this one, I think Old Miss wins this wins this in a close, closer one.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, maybe like an eight-point game or something like that.
- 44:59SPEAKER_02: I could I can see that.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: We're gonna talk about this game because it's on game day, because this is what the game is.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: Miami is a 10-point favorite at Cal, uh in Berkeley, California.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: Um, that is a ACC matchup for those of you not paying attention.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: Game day is gonna be there, which I think is the first time game day's ever gone to Cal, apparently, if I saw on Twitter this week.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: Um uh I'm gonna take Cal on the 10 points.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: Uh Cal's feisty, they almost beat Florida State.
- 45:25SPEAKER_01: I think they're four and one on the year.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: Cal feisty, they almost beat Florida State.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: I I'm I'm reaching here.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: I'm reaching here.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: That is a reach.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: That is a reach.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: Uh they're three and one.
- 45:35SPEAKER_01: They've cal who's they've beat Cal's being a couple teams.
- 45:37SPEAKER_01: Who they beat?
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: They beat Auburn, uh, San Diego, and San Diego State.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: Uh who's a better Mountain West team than most.
- 45:43SPEAKER_01: Um, 10 points.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: Uh, Miami coming off that crazy game.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: Mario Christopher not really knowing how to be a good game day coach.
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: I mean, what are you what are you excited about if you're Miami right now?
- 45:56SPEAKER_02: Well, this line tells me a whole lot more about Miami than it does Cal.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: I think this this line, I mean, as much as we saw Miami being potentially suspect against Virginia Tech, if they don't blow the doors off Cal, my alarms are going off.
- 46:11SPEAKER_02: I don't care.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, Berkeley is one of the classic non-hornets nests in the country.
- 46:17SPEAKER_02: I've been to that stadium.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: I can confirm it's not a hornet's nest.
- 46:21SPEAKER_02: This this is this should be a a big time win for Miami.
- 46:25SPEAKER_02: If they don't cover that, then oof.
- 46:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, alarm bells from from from me from from the mic blitz.
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: All right, you're talking me into it.
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: All right, so we got Miami covering that one, minus 10.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: Go in there, steamrolling the two cow bears.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: All right, let's do it.
- 46:37SPEAKER_02: Yes, that's gonna be a that should be a bloodbath.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: Or Miami is a fraud.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, all right, let's switch to Homers.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: Uh LSU is on by uh Boston College um at uh UVA minus one and a half.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: I doesn't look like Thomas Costalanos is playing, but the line keeps moving in um BC's favor.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: So maybe he is.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: Um so the sharps like Boston College.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: We can't put this game anyway because we live in Virginia or all the better Virginia College.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: We can't put this one anyway.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: Um, UVA can.
- 47:07SPEAKER_01: Here's my matchup for this game.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: If Thomas Castellanos isn't playing, UVA should, can, and will be able to confuse Grayson James, who's the backup.
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: I don't have a lot of faith in the Boston College backup quarterback.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Um, if Thomas is playing, I think he's really good, I think he's dynamic, I think he's gonna give UVA fits.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know who's gonna win this game.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: I think it comes down to Costalanos.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: If you tell me Costellanos is playing, give me the Eagles.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: If he's not, give me the Wahoo.
- 47:32SPEAKER_01: That's all I know.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I completely agree with you.
- 47:35SPEAKER_02: I don't Boston College has shown to be pretty proficient on on offense, they've got a pretty salty defense.
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: They're they're a good team, they're a good team.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: Objective UVA has has really gotten better.
- 47:48SPEAKER_02: I don't know if they're a good team yet.
- 47:50SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, if you're giving me, you know, who am I gonna take?
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: If if Boston College has their quarterback, obviously I'm taking Boston College.
- 47:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I do think that that UVA could get some respect with a win here.
- 48:01SPEAKER_02: Um, this could be this is a nice matchup.
- 48:03SPEAKER_02: This is this I can see this going either way.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: It's a really good matchup.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: And honestly, this is the game where you if UVA is gonna get to a bowl, this is probably one that they kind of really if they can get win this game.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: I think they probably lock up a spot in a bowl given the rest of their schedule.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: So uh go watch it, we'll see what happens.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: Uh Virginia Tech at Stanford also going to Gray State of California this week after just a brutal Miami go loss at Miami.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: They are eight-point favorites, so like they're getting some real love.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm gonna give Pry some credit.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: I'm going to I'm going to give the Hokies, I think they're going to snap back here.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: I think Pry's going to have them mad.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: I don't think they're going to quit.
- 48:40SPEAKER_01: We talked about this last week.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: If they get blown out, they're going to quit.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: They clearly did not.
- 48:43SPEAKER_01: They went into Miami with their hair on fire and they almost came out there with the win.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: I think Pry's got them still motivated.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: I think they realize their season is teetering on the edge right here.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: I got hokies in a big staff back.
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: What I really want them to do, and what they can and should do, is run all over Stanford just the way they did Miami.
- 49:01SPEAKER_01: So give me the Hokies to go to Stanford, run the ball like hell, get the win.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: I got Virginia Tech covering, which I can't bet on.
- 49:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 49:09SPEAKER_02: I don't think I don't think I also don't think Stanford's very good at all.
- 49:13SPEAKER_02: And Virginia Tech got a taste of kind of success and what they can do.
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: And the fact that they didn't win that game, yes, that's that hurts in the locker room, but you still felt what it feels like to be in that type of game on the road with a with the chance to win it against who everyone thinks is a top 10 Miami team.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: Nobody gave it.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: And that means something.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think they're chance.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: They were the spread was like 17 points or something.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: It was a huge number.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: Nobody gave them a chance, and they were one questionable call away from getting it.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: So hokies, they're putting there, they're put some respect on your name.
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: Go get it.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: Uh all right, last one.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: Uh Tennessee minus 14 at Arkansas.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: This is your game, sir.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: We do the honors.
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think this is um a little bit, a little bit of a trap game.
- 49:58SPEAKER_02: If this game were not coming off of a bye week for Tennessee, um, I would be very worried.
- 50:05SPEAKER_02: Arkansas has shown themselves to be uh pretty capable of moving the ball, good running team, um, very athletic at quarterback, but it is coming off a bye week.
- 50:15SPEAKER_02: So Tennessee covers this one easily.
- 50:17SPEAKER_02: Uh, you're gonna see a little bit more explosion on offense, a little bit more uh from the playbook.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: Uh, I also don't think Arkansas is gonna be able to move the ball at all against um against Tennessee's front seven.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: They're not gonna be able to throw it, they can't throw it anyway very well.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, I just I think this is gonna be a really nice win for Tennessee.
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: Good, well-rounded, you know, show off the D and put some points on the board.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: I like him to win by like 20, honestly.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: Dude, I hate what I saw in Nebraska out of Arkansas last week.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: Arkansas played the um, they put that Texas AM neutral site game in Jerry Worlds, and it was just two ugly offenses who I mean, I mean, there's athletes on those on those teams.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: Arkansas has some athletes.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: Um, Landon, Landon Jackson's defensive end is a force.
- 51:01SPEAKER_01: Talon Green can do some things with his legs.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: Um, but from an individual standpoint, yeah.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: From an individual standpoint, yeah, but I just like I I watched both of those teams and thought those are both ugly offenses that when they're faced down the barrel at a big team squad, they don't have anything.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: No, I got Tennessee rolling by 24, 25.
- 51:19SPEAKER_01: I could see it getting a 30-point game if they want to, um, depending on how fast Nico and Hypel and Samson want to go.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: Um, so yeah, I got Tennessee covering big as well.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: I just mainly just because uh right now the spread's 13 and a half, which just on the hand under two touchdowns.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: I do not like what Arkansas is doing.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: And I last week, and obviously they blew the Oklahoma State game, which now which is looked back, is looking worse and worse and worse.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: Oklahoma State stinks and they lost that game.
- 51:46SPEAKER_01: I don't know what you like about Arkansas right now, other than they have some fun athletes that are good television.
- 51:51SPEAKER_02: So and they've got the a night home environment in the SEC, which is always tough.
- 51:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but again, Josh Hypo, eight and one coming off of a bye.
- 51:59SPEAKER_02: Uh we we want to see the offensive line get healthy.
- 52:02SPEAKER_02: That's the big thing.
- 52:03SPEAKER_02: Um do we know of her?
- 52:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, go ahead.
- 52:06SPEAKER_02: They've been practicing.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: Everybody says they expect him to be back, uh, but that's the same thing we heard before Kent State like three weeks ago.
- 52:14SPEAKER_02: So um just dinged up a lot on the O-line.
- 52:17SPEAKER_02: Everybody, a lot of health, healthy players everywhere else, no injury um reports to be concerned about, other than both offensive tackles.
- 52:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:26SPEAKER_01: So if there was, yeah, I guess let's I mean, let's let's say go in the SEC, never look, never look at gifts horse to mouth, winning on the road in the SEC is just tough.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: If this game were to go sideways, that would be it.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: It would be the it would be the tackles.
- 52:39SPEAKER_01: And because Landon Jackson is an NFL defensive end on the other side, so there could be a worldwork, but that's the only potential matchup I see really going Arkansas's way.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: Um, and that would be against uh Tennessee's backup tackles, who I'm sure are high-end prospects, but probably not SEC caliber ready, or at least not yet.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: So uh very cool.
- 53:00SPEAKER_01: All right, so for the for the spread for the Mike Blitz better the week, we got Texas AM minus two, uh Syracuse plus six and a half, uh Louisville minus uh seven, Nebraska minus seven, South Carolina plus nine and a half, Miami minus 10, and Tennessee, who is a doozy, minus 13 and a half.
- 53:24SPEAKER_01: Your ten dollar bet on that seven leg parlay will pay you nine hundred and nineteen dollars.
- 53:30SPEAKER_04: So not as juicy as last week, not as juicy as last week.
- 53:34SPEAKER_01: Well, the juicy last week was we picked Alabama money line, which was plus 120 and Baylor.
- 53:39SPEAKER_01: Baylor was the pick.
- 53:40SPEAKER_01: That was that was like plus 150.
- 53:42SPEAKER_01: Baylor, um, oh sorry, BYU.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: BYU plus 150, beating Baylor.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: That was the sexy pick that really jazzed it up, but still, so there's your seven layers.
- 53:51SPEAKER_02: Didn't we get the over on did we get the over to Bama, Georgia?
- 53:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: So uh Tennessee, Miami, South Carolina, Nebraska, Louisville, Syracuse, and Texas AM.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: That is your official Mike Blitz bet.
- 54:03SPEAKER_01: Mike Blitz bet of the week.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: All right, I'm tired.
- 54:08SPEAKER_01: Anything else to report before the goody order before we get out of dodge?
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: No, that was a doozy.
- 54:14SPEAKER_02: That was let's go with some money.
- 54:15SPEAKER_01: Let's go with some money, folks.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: Thanks for listening to Mike Blitz.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: Uh, we'll see you guys next week.
- 54:19SPEAKER_01: Enjoy college football.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: Enjoy your Saturday.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: Happy October, everybody.
- 54:21SPEAKER_01: See ya.
- 54:33SPEAKER_01: Raven's rain to go away.
- 54:35SPEAKER_00: And Hollywood go.
- 54:44SPEAKER_00: Hey, Hallie will go.
