- 0:08Speaker 1: It's going good, man. I went to the gym. I
- 0:10Speaker 1: was resting here. I didn't realize it was a day
- 0:12Speaker 1: game for the Tigers. So it's like parking wasn't bad, though.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Because I always try to park where it's cheap. So
- 0:18Speaker 1: I found free parking. It's like free parking, like right
- 0:20Speaker 1: on the street. But you got to get there quick.
- 0:23Speaker 1: And then it's like it's only an hour away. But
- 0:25Speaker 1: I don't think they check that. They don't check, you know.
- 0:28Speaker 2: But it's Sunday, though. There's no meters. It's just a sign.
- 0:30Speaker 2: But is it a Sunday? They don't care? Actually, yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Sundays is good.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I always forget that. I just read that,
- 0:37Speaker 2: and I was pissed because I read that just now
- 0:39Speaker 2: in here, and I already paid to get into this
- 0:41Speaker 2: parking garage. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And since
- 0:44Speaker 2: it's a game, they even– Because everything is Surge now.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Surge pricing everywhere. Yeah, the parking structure right here.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I remember they used to do an open mic here.
- 0:54Speaker 1: And Kendrick had a concert at Ford Field. The parking
- 0:59Speaker 1: there was $ 80.
- 1:00Speaker 2: 80 bucks?
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yeah, and so when I came on stage for the
- 1:03Speaker 1: open mic, I was like, $ 80 for parking?
- 1:05Speaker 2: I'm Team Drake, bro. That's crazy. You like us. Yeah.
- 1:13Speaker 2: That's wild.
- 1:14Speaker 1: But, you know, you can't control that. It's just a
- 1:17Speaker 1: little good joke, though.
- 1:18Speaker 2: That's crazy. Yeah, man. Were you all in on the
- 1:21Speaker 2: battle and shit?
- 1:24Speaker 1: I mean, not all in. I ain't... You know. I mean,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I was always... I would always say I was more
- 1:28Speaker 1: of a Kendrick fan anyway. Because I don't... I like
- 1:31Speaker 1: more like lyrical stuff.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Because that's kind of like how my comedy is too.
- 1:37Speaker 2: It's usually.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It's supposed to be funny.
- 1:41Speaker 2: The funniest first.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But if I can sneak in some knowledge or something
- 1:45Speaker 1: like that, then that's what I like to do.
- 1:47Speaker 2: That's even better. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because like.
- 1:50Speaker 1: The way I think about it is like, if I
- 1:52Speaker 1: can make you laugh at the premise... makes you squirm,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and the punchline still makes you laugh, then that's the
- 1:58Speaker 1: perfect bit.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's funny, too, because I was drawn in.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I was like, oh, shit. The way, just the calculation
- 2:12Speaker 2: of the dropping of the tracks. Yeah, yeah. It was
- 2:16Speaker 2: a trip, man. I don't know how old you are,
- 2:18Speaker 2: but back in the day, someone dissed somebody, and It
- 2:24Speaker 2: wasn't an immediate response. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Everything took way longer, yeah. So you had to wait
- 2:28Speaker 1: for their next album. But that's the kind of part
- 2:31Speaker 1: that almost makes it feel like, I'm not saying this
- 2:34Speaker 1: is what it is, but it's like, you know, almost
- 2:37Speaker 1: like wrestling, like WWE, where it's like, is it some
- 2:40Speaker 1: behind the scenes? Because it was always like, oh, yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 1: they're going to spark a beef, and then you want
- 2:45Speaker 1: to hear what they're going to say.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So that drives sales. Yeah. You know?
- 2:49Speaker 1: It's like the Chris Rock thing.
- 2:51Speaker 2: After Chris Rock got slapped.
- 2:53Speaker 1: all this stuff selling out and all of that. So,
- 2:55Speaker 1: cause everybody wants to hear what are you going to say?
- 2:57Speaker 1: And so it's like controversy breeds, you know, competition and sales,
- 3:02Speaker 1: which is, which is the most.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Yes. Yes.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yes. Cause it was interesting. And then like, uh, okay, wait,
- 3:10Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. We'll just start talking about music. Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 2: We're doing comedy. But no, you're, um, and you've been
- 3:16Speaker 2: doing comedy. How long?
- 3:17Speaker 1: I've been doing comedy. Like I say six years. Cause
- 3:20Speaker 1: I started summer 2019, uh, Got rolling, got my first
- 3:25Speaker 1: feature thing, and then COVID happened.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And I did one COVID show, like one Zoom show.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It was awful. Yes.
- 3:32Speaker 1: And I didn't do comedy from like mid-March to like
- 3:35Speaker 1: December when we started doing comedy outside.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yeah, on the outside. So I didn't really do.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Much of anything all that 2020. Then 2021, came back strong,
- 3:44Speaker 1: been rolling ever since.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it was a trip. The outside comedy was
- 3:49Speaker 2: an interesting thing, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Doing comedy in
- 3:54Speaker 2: the shadows and stuff.
- 3:57Speaker 1: When you think about what makes a good room for comedy,
- 4:02Speaker 1: outside is the complete opposite of everything that would make
- 4:07Speaker 1: comedy good.
- 4:07Speaker 2: It's the killer of laughter for some reason.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Because we know that the sound rises, so it leaves,
- 4:13Speaker 2: so you don't know how you're doing. Right, right, right.
- 4:15Speaker 2: And then it's also, too, there's so much distractions going on. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 2: And it's a comedy. It's a night thing, so you're
- 4:22Speaker 2: out there at night. And it depends on where you're at,
- 4:24Speaker 2: because you could be like this all day, trying to laugh. No,
- 4:27Speaker 2: it's not. Yeah, exactly.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Anything that takes away from the person on stage immediately.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Kills that joke. And probably the next.
- 4:36Speaker 1: three to five minutes depending on yeah how good the
- 4:39Speaker 1: comedian is you know you know that's why uh they say.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Uh uh uh mitzi shore she she painted it black
- 4:47Speaker 2: all like the whole everything in comedy like have you
- 4:49Speaker 2: been in the comic store yeah yeah yeah and how
- 4:51Speaker 2: it's like every like you can't see yeah the only
- 4:53Speaker 2: thing you can see is the comic and that's where
- 4:55Speaker 2: the focus should be and i was like oh that's
- 4:57Speaker 2: an that's an interesting choice because nowadays like it's like
- 5:00Speaker 2: you know um comedy, like, the improvs are, like, that's
- 5:04Speaker 2: the brand, so that's what the comedy, like, it's all everywhere, da-da-da-da,
- 5:07Speaker 2: but it takes focus off the comic. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And it's fun, because I do a show downtown, we
- 5:14Speaker 1: do a free show Sundays, and, like, this time of year,
- 5:17Speaker 1: show starts at, like, 7.15, so it's still bright as
- 5:20Speaker 1: shit outside. So when you, so it's, like, the sun's
- 5:23Speaker 1: coming in, and I said that to the crowd the
- 5:24Speaker 1: other day, I was like, because you'll see, like, people, like, they'll, like, snicker,
- 5:27Speaker 1: or they'll, like, laugh, but cover their mouth, and I'm like,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I was like, I know it's hard to laugh in
- 5:31Speaker 1: this environment because it feels like God's watching you. So
- 5:34Speaker 1: it's like, you can't laugh. If I say something dirty,
- 5:38Speaker 1: you're like, I can't laugh at that. It's too bright,
- 5:40Speaker 1: you know?
- 5:41Speaker 2: It's weird. People know that it's still light. Even though
- 5:44Speaker 2: they can't see it, sometimes they can't see it, but
- 5:46Speaker 2: you can feel that it's still light outside. How come
- 5:49Speaker 2: this joke's not hitting? Yeah, yeah, yeah. This joke will
- 5:52Speaker 2: probably hit way better at 8.15. Yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yeah. And that's the same. But that's also like why
- 5:57Speaker 1: movie theaters are set up the same way where it's
- 5:59Speaker 1: like everything is super dark. So all you can focus
- 6:02Speaker 1: on is the movie. And then you come outside and
- 6:04Speaker 1: you're like, oh, shit, it's 3 p.m. Like you don't
- 6:06Speaker 1: even realize that you've been in a room like that.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 1: You know, it's like sensory deprivation type of thing.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah. I like that, man. That's what you need, though, man.
- 6:17Speaker 2: That's one of my favorite things to do other than
- 6:19Speaker 2: stand up is go to the movies. Yeah. Because it's
- 6:21Speaker 2: just you turn the whole world gets turned off. Yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And as an entertainer, it's like, now I get to
- 6:27Speaker 2: be entertained. Yes. I can relax. Yeah. I can check
- 6:31Speaker 2: it out.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And you got to like, you got to, for me,
- 6:33Speaker 1: it's like the thing of like trying to make sure
- 6:35Speaker 1: I turn off my brain where it's not like, oh,
- 6:36Speaker 1: how can I turn this.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Into a bit?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Because it's like, it shouldn't be, but I try not,
- 6:41Speaker 1: I don't really do too many current events or anything
- 6:44Speaker 1: like that. So my, if it did end up as
- 6:47Speaker 1: a bit, it would be more like the idea of
- 6:50Speaker 1: going to the movies or like the stuff around Going
- 6:53Speaker 1: to the movies, not necessarily this particular movie or whatever.
- 6:57Speaker 2: You know what I mean? No, it's more of a
- 6:58Speaker 2: personal aspect. Right. I know what you're saying. Same thing.
- 7:03Speaker 2: I can't go and be like, oh, here's a setting.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Make jokes about this setting. And it's like, no, I
- 7:10Speaker 2: have to be in that setting. And you know what
- 7:12Speaker 2: the thing about it is? Sometimes I'll be in that setting,
- 7:15Speaker 2: but that's not even what I'm talking about. Right. I'm
- 7:17Speaker 2: joking about it.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah. I get you. I find it hard. I need
- 7:21Speaker 2: them to turn the music on.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Turn it way down. Oh, there's a camera over here, too.
- 7:47Speaker 2: One, two, three. There you were.
- 7:56Speaker 1: All right, that's a little better yet.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 1: No, we good, man.
- 7:59Speaker 2: We good.
- 7:59Speaker 1: What time are we on this?
- 8:02Speaker 2: Like 10 minutes. Yeah. Yeah. Boom. Okay, cool. I'm sorry.
- 8:10Speaker 2: What were we at again?
- 8:13Speaker 1: Movies.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Writing jokes. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So, like, and you're writing,
- 8:17Speaker 2: and you're... Your method, do you have a method on
- 8:22Speaker 2: how you go about it?
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's usually whatever I feel the most passionate about.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Right?
- 8:29Speaker 1: And I try to write about the real thing. I
- 8:33Speaker 1: read in a book somewhere, probably the Comedy Bible or something,
- 8:36Speaker 1: but it's like you want to go big to small.
- 8:38Speaker 1: So it's like if I'm making a joke about my relationship,
- 8:42Speaker 1: I try to think of a premise that makes relationships universal.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I'm working on a bit right now where the premise
- 8:50Speaker 1: is dating is hard because most people don't love themselves.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So then it's hard to know if they love you
- 8:58Speaker 1: or if they just love how you make them feel.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So that's the premise. And then I go into specific
- 9:04Speaker 1: examples about me and stuff like that. So it's deep,
- 9:09Speaker 1: but it's got to be more funny than it is deep.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Because I'm not just trying to make people question their relationships.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, let's make them better if we can. So,
- 9:18Speaker 1: funny thing.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Like, when I first started, I started doing stand-up about 16. Okay.
- 9:23Speaker 2: But then, like, I started getting real serious about 18
- 9:26Speaker 2: years old. But then I stopped for a while. Yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 2: But I remember being 18 years old and reading this quote.
- 9:31Speaker 2: And it's kind of like what you said. And it said,
- 9:37Speaker 2: if you make people think, they will hate you. but
- 9:40Speaker 2: if you make people think that they're thinking, they will
- 9:42Speaker 2: love you. Ah, okay. Yeah, and I was like, at
- 9:45Speaker 2: first it took me a while. I was like, what
- 9:46Speaker 2: the fuck is that? And then I was like, you
- 9:48Speaker 2: know what though? That is actually, yeah, because like you said,
- 9:51Speaker 2: if you go too deep, and then people are like,
- 9:52Speaker 2: I'm not trying to think about all that.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:54Speaker 2: But if you're like, if you just spark the idea
- 9:56Speaker 2: just a little bit, it's.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Like, you know what? I never thought of it like that.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Yeah. funny. Now that I think about that, damn, I
- 10:02Speaker 2: do that too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because then it's relatable. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And the best thing about that is that no matter what,
- 10:10Speaker 2: like even like in movies, everyone's always saying the book
- 10:12Speaker 2: is better. Yeah, yeah. The reason why the book is
- 10:14Speaker 2: better because it was in here. Yeah, yeah. So your imagination,
- 10:17Speaker 2: so if I just spark it a little bit and
- 10:19Speaker 2: you apply it to your relationships, Now you think of
- 10:21Speaker 2: all these other things, but you're like, that was funny. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:26Speaker 1: So that's the balance you got to try to, well,
- 10:29Speaker 1: I try to strike. And some people are like, it's
- 10:31Speaker 1: just a set-up punchline. Or it's just like, even if
- 10:35Speaker 1: it's not a set-up punchline, it's not that deep. They
- 10:37Speaker 1: might just make a joke about a movie or a
- 10:40Speaker 1: joke about, and it's like, I love everything. I like
- 10:43Speaker 1: all kinds of comedy. I like dumbass dad jokes. All
- 10:46Speaker 1: the way to the, you know, the most highbrow shit
- 10:49Speaker 1: you could think of.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 1: You know, it's all funny to me, but it's just like,
- 10:53Speaker 1: you know.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I think I get more impressed with the degree of
- 10:57Speaker 2: difficulty in order to get to it. Yeah. Yeah. It's like,
- 11:00Speaker 2: I know that was a dick joke, but you took,
- 11:02Speaker 2: it was, I was, that was a hard way to
- 11:05Speaker 2: get there. Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's because I like stand-up science as well.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Like when I first seen you right now, right when
- 11:13Speaker 2: I first met you, it was funny. I was like, oh,
- 11:14Speaker 2: he's funny. He's going to be cool. Yeah. Because, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 1: That's funny because when I came, I did a show
- 11:20Speaker 1: in Canada when I was coming back. They asked, what
- 11:23Speaker 1: you doing in Canada or whatever? I was like, yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 1: I did a comedy show. The guy was like, oh,
- 11:27Speaker 1: you look like a comic. I was like, what the fuck?
- 11:30Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know if I should be offended.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He was letting me go, and I kind of stopped.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm like, you don't do that, because you don't want
- 11:38Speaker 1: to give them a reason to be like, no, no, no,
- 11:39Speaker 1: we're going to check your shit. I was like, I
- 11:41Speaker 1: don't know if I should be offended by this. He
- 11:42Speaker 1: was like, no, man, you look like you got to
- 11:44Speaker 1: be smart to do comedy. You look like a smart guy.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I was like, all right, man. I'm going to go, man,
- 11:50Speaker 1: because I don't want to argue with somebody who could
- 11:52Speaker 1: waste my time.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yeah, waste my time. Or keep me here.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, yeah, you can't keep me here
- 11:57Speaker 1: for too long, but you could keep me here for
- 11:59Speaker 1: an hour or two if you wanted.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I didn't know how, like, my geography is all fucked up.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I did not know that Canada was that close. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Most people don't know, but that's like the big thing.
- 12:09Speaker 1: So it's like, depending on where you live, Like age
- 12:12Speaker 1: milestones are different. So like 18, that's big for everybody.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's like in the high school, stuff like that. But
- 12:16Speaker 1: in Michigan, well, in Detroit specifically, 19 is a big
- 12:21Speaker 1: age because once you turn 19, you can go to
- 12:23Speaker 1: Canada and drink and go.
- 12:25Speaker 2: To the clubs and all of that.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So, yeah, that was like a big thing from 19
- 12:30Speaker 1: to 21.
- 12:30Speaker 2: You can go over there.
- 12:31Speaker 1: You can go to the casino over there, all of
- 12:33Speaker 1: that stuff. So we used to do that all the time.
- 12:35Speaker 1: And then, you know, once you turn 21, you can
- 12:37Speaker 1: just go.
- 12:38Speaker 2: You can do all that here. Yeah. He still would
- 12:40Speaker 2: go over there sometimes. He's already a full-blown degenerate.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You're already in debt. You owe
- 12:45Speaker 1: the mob in Canada. They coming after you on horseback
- 12:49Speaker 1: and shit. You did quick cigarettes five times.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, right. Yeah, all between the two years of safety. Yeah, man,
- 12:55Speaker 2: that's a trip. Like, yeah, I was like, because I
- 12:57Speaker 2: was driving here, I was like, hey, this is one
- 12:58Speaker 2: of these exits. I'm in Canada.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, yep, yep.
- 13:02Speaker 2: That's nuts. It's a thing.
- 13:03Speaker 1: And I know, I'm sure, I've seen this probably a
- 13:05Speaker 1: bunch of TikToks where it's like they play like the music.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Where it's like you get off at the wrong exit.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Because it says it like eight times. Like, this is Canada.
- 13:12Speaker 1: You can't turn around. You can't, you know, if you
- 13:15Speaker 1: get off right here, you going to Canada.
- 13:17Speaker 2: So, you know. Last exit.
- 13:18Speaker 1: The last time I went, I was driving and I
- 13:21Speaker 1: had a show over there.
- 13:22Speaker 2: And this was like a month ago. And I forgot.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I had went to Costco and I had a half
- 13:26Speaker 1: a gallon of tequila in my trunk.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And I'm like on the way there. And then it
- 13:30Speaker 1: was the Bruno Mars concert.
- 13:32Speaker 2: So. Traffic is crazy everywhere.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Luckily, my grandma lives downtown, so I called my dad.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, you at grandma's house? So I went
- 13:39Speaker 1: and met him, dropped the liquor off, then went to Canada.
- 13:43Speaker 1: And sure, they're like, you got anything? I was like, nope,
- 13:45Speaker 1: because I don't even want to take no chances.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So not even liquor.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I could have took it and just been like, hey,
- 13:49Speaker 1: I have this. I'm not planning on using it. I'm
- 13:51Speaker 1: going to come back with it. But I was like,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I don't even want to. I don't want to risk. Because, again,
- 13:56Speaker 1: they could just hold you.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:57Speaker 1: And be like, oh, now we got to run all
- 13:59Speaker 1: your stuff to make sure. Because I'm like, who's going
- 14:01Speaker 1: to sneak in one bottle? It's a big ass bottle,
- 14:04Speaker 1: but it's still one bottle.
- 14:05Speaker 2: That's like because like I remember hearing all the time, too, like, hey,
- 14:08Speaker 2: if you have a DUI, you can't get into Canada.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I believe. I mean, I don't know. There's a lot
- 14:12Speaker 2: of comics that couldn't work. Yeah. I remember that. It
- 14:14Speaker 2: makes sense. Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Any any arrests, any old stuff, even stuff that might
- 14:18Speaker 1: have gotten thrown out or, you know, if you went,
- 14:20Speaker 1: you served your time or whatever, because that was like
- 14:22Speaker 1: the thing with Patrice O'Neill, like like. Right before he passed,
- 14:26Speaker 1: he was going to Montreal just for laughs, and he
- 14:29Speaker 1: got stopped because he had a charge where he served
- 14:34Speaker 1: time way before. He had gone a bunch of times,
- 14:38Speaker 1: but for whatever reason, this time they asked him, and
- 14:40Speaker 1: it popped up, and then they didn't let him in.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Wow. I didn't know that.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard that on the Marc Maron podcast.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I just showed the stepdaughter of Patrice because she didn't know.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I was like, I go, this guy is... This is
- 14:52Speaker 2: one of those comics where you don't know where they're going,
- 14:54Speaker 2: but you don't even trust it, but you still go
- 14:57Speaker 2: along with it. Yeah, yeah. And it pays off. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:00Speaker 2: And so I showed her Elephant in the Room, and
- 15:02Speaker 2: then I showed her the one about the Pepsi can killer.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Getting the receipts. Oh, that shit is so funny. Yeah, man.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Who are your influences?
- 15:12Speaker 1: Definitely Patrice, Living, Wanda Sykes. Brian Simpson and Roy Wood Jr.
- 15:20Speaker 2: For sure.
- 15:21Speaker 1: But I like a lot of comedians, man. I like...
- 15:22Speaker 1: I was fortunate.
- 15:24Speaker 2: To meet Roy. He's really cool. I got to hold
- 15:27Speaker 2: him one time and I was like, dude was mad cool.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I did... We did a Traverse City Comedy Festival,
- 15:32Speaker 1: which is like way up north.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And he was one of the headliners. And he just
- 15:35Speaker 1: like came, like he did his set at the theater
- 15:38Speaker 1: and then they had another show and like a bar, like,
- 15:41Speaker 1: a place where they usually do, like, a don't tell
- 15:43Speaker 1: show or whatever.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 1: He went, popped in over there, did 10 minutes, and
- 15:46Speaker 1: then we was doing karaoke at this other bar. He
- 15:48Speaker 1: came in there. He didn't do karaoke, but, you know,
- 15:50Speaker 1: he just, you know, kind of kicked it with us,
- 15:52Speaker 1: you know, gave us some game.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:54Speaker 1: You know, had a meal and then dipped, you know, but.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Just a cool-ass dude, man. It's a trip, like, because, like,
- 15:59Speaker 2: you're like, oh, you can definitely tell who's a comic
- 16:03Speaker 2: and then who just... kind of wants to be a
- 16:05Speaker 2: comic yeah yeah that is famous and it's like yo
- 16:08Speaker 2: like he's a comic oh yeah like yo he's like
- 16:10Speaker 2: i said he hangs out he's chill it's cool it's
- 16:13Speaker 2: a game and then it's just like being helpful yeah
- 16:15Speaker 2: and it's like oh he understands he gets it yeah
- 16:17Speaker 2: like of course he went through the whole fucking process.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Right yeah you could tell like he's one of the
- 16:21Speaker 1: people that was like he was on the road and
- 16:23Speaker 1: then he took took a chance on himself go here
- 16:25Speaker 1: you know go to la or whatever then go to
- 16:27Speaker 1: new york and then get a job you know and
- 16:29Speaker 1: then just keep But it's always that keep working, keep
- 16:31Speaker 1: working mentality, keep getting better. But it's like the way
- 16:34Speaker 1: he writes jokes is the way I kind of like
- 16:37Speaker 1: think about life. So I try to do it not
- 16:40Speaker 1: in the same way, but, you know, but definitely an
- 16:42Speaker 1: influence for sure, man. One of the best.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I like how that's structured. Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 1: And then I like, you know, like just when that structure,
- 16:50Speaker 1: Daniel Sloss, he got a special on Netflix, Jigsaw. I
- 16:55Speaker 1: probably watched it, like, that shit helped me get divorced, bro.
- 17:00Speaker 1: But it was, like, just the way you think about,
- 17:03Speaker 1: like you said, like, the way you think about relationships,
- 17:06Speaker 1: and it's like, oh, you put it in a different perspective.
- 17:08Speaker 1: And then, I think that's the best comedy, man.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Like, you know. I like it, man. And, like, you said,
- 17:15Speaker 2: so six years, and your influences, and are you born
- 17:18Speaker 2: and raised here in Detroit?
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I lived, I was born here, and then
- 17:21Speaker 1: I lived, my mom moved to California, so I lived
- 17:23Speaker 1: in California from, like, second grade to seventh grade, and
- 17:28Speaker 1: then we moved back, and then I've been back since.
- 17:30Speaker 1: What part of California?
- 17:32Speaker 2: San Diego. Okay.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Oh, the nicest part. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It
- 17:35Speaker 1: never rained shit in five years. I think it rained
- 17:38Speaker 1: four times. We got a couple aftershocks, but no big
- 17:42Speaker 1: earthquakes or nothing when I was there, but yeah, it
- 17:45Speaker 1: never rained, and I would know because- all the, like,
- 17:50Speaker 1: schools are, like, here, all the schools are inside. So
- 17:53Speaker 1: it's one big building. There, it's all outside. So when
- 17:55Speaker 1: you walk out your classroom, you're outside. So, like, when
- 17:58Speaker 1: we couldn't go to recess, it's because it was raining.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And I think, like I said, I think over the
- 18:03Speaker 1: course of years, I think that only happened a few times.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a trip, man, how I'm seeing on TikTok
- 18:08Speaker 2: people that, like, the East Coast kids don't even believe it.
- 18:11Speaker 2: And the West Coast kids don't even believe it, too.
- 18:13Speaker 2: They're like, that's only in movies. They're like, no, that's
- 18:15Speaker 2: how it is over here. And they're like, you guys,
- 18:17Speaker 2: this is outside? They're like, yeah. As soon as you
- 18:19Speaker 2: hit the door.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And it's so wild, because if you just go north
- 18:22Speaker 1: to Seattle, it rains all the time. And I've never
- 18:26Speaker 1: been there, but that's just what they say. That's also
- 18:29Speaker 1: a thing, too. It's like, why... why wouldn't you believe
- 18:32Speaker 1: the people from there? Like, why would they lie about this?
- 18:35Speaker 1: Such an insignificant thing, but it's like, if you do, uh, uh,
- 18:39Speaker 1: like in Seattle, it's so funny. Cause it is, it's
- 18:42Speaker 1: always gloomy. It's always raining.
- 18:43Speaker 2: It's like London. And, um, if there's one day of
- 18:46Speaker 2: sunshine and you have a show, no one's coming. They've
- 18:52Speaker 2: been out all day, they've been kicking it, and then
- 18:54Speaker 2: they're tired now or they're just trying to enjoy the
- 18:55Speaker 2: rest of the day. Or tomorrow, they're going to wake
- 18:57Speaker 2: up again early and go out tomorrow. They're not fucking
- 18:59Speaker 2: with your show.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Which makes sense because that's how it is here. Like comedy,
- 19:03Speaker 1: I'm assuming the whole Midwest, but specifically in Michigan because
- 19:06Speaker 1: this is where I am most of the time, it
- 19:08Speaker 1: like dies in the summer. Because, you know, it's so gloomy.
- 19:12Speaker 1: And it's so cold during, you know, from like September,
- 19:16Speaker 1: October to like April, comedy shows are packed. You can
- 19:21Speaker 1: pack rooms and stuff because people just want to be
- 19:23Speaker 1: somewhere a little warm and drinking. But once that sun
- 19:27Speaker 1: comes out, everybody's out. The Tigers suck right now. There's
- 19:30Speaker 1: still people going to the games because they would rather
- 19:32Speaker 1: be outside.
- 19:33Speaker 2: That is so funny because I went to a game.
- 19:35Speaker 2: When did we go? We went on Thursday? Or Friday?
- 19:38Speaker 2: We went on Friday. Okay. I was saying, I go, hey,
- 19:42Speaker 2: there's a lot of people at this game.
- 19:45Speaker 1: And that's because last week it was 48 degrees out here,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and now it's warm. again this week because Michigan weather
- 19:52Speaker 1: is so finicky. You never really know. It snowed at
- 19:56Speaker 1: the beginning of May. It snowed again. So it's like,
- 19:59Speaker 1: When it's now that it's warm and it's going to
- 20:00Speaker 1: be consistent, they'll be out.
- 20:02Speaker 2: They're out all the time. And I didn't even know, like,
- 20:04Speaker 2: this is my first time in Detroit. Okay. And it's a,
- 20:06Speaker 2: it's actually, I really like it. Yeah. It's fucking nice.
- 20:09Speaker 2: And it's like a nice little best kept secret. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, um,
- 20:13Speaker 2: but I didn't know about the weather type shit here.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So I went to, uh, I just went to weather
- 20:17Speaker 2: and all I see, I didn't even look at the numbers,
- 20:19Speaker 2: but I just seen rain and thunderstorms and I was like,
- 20:22Speaker 2: oh shit. I brought hoodies. I brought hoodies. I look
- 20:26Speaker 2: like an idiot. It's 85 degrees.
- 20:28Speaker 1: It's raining. But that's why. Because it was so cold
- 20:31Speaker 1: a week ago, now it's 85. Then the thunderstorms are
- 20:36Speaker 1: going to come because it got so hot so fast.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So it'll balance. It'll be hot for like a week.
- 20:44Speaker 1: And then it'll rain really hard for two days. And
- 20:46Speaker 1: then it'll be back in the 50s for a little.
- 20:47Speaker 1: And then it'll slowly creep up to where it's good
- 20:50Speaker 1: every day. from like, you know, mid-June to like late August,
- 20:55Speaker 1: early September.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:56Speaker 1: But that's, you know, because it's sundress season. There's nothing to.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Complain about, bro.
- 21:01Speaker 1: We got to, you know, be out there with it.
- 21:04Speaker 2: It's good.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good time, man. It's a good time
- 21:07Speaker 1: to be out. And that's what, yeah, like Detroit, it's
- 21:10Speaker 1: wild how, I was thinking about it, like, we're very
- 21:17Speaker 1: arrogant as Americans, so it's like, people still have this
- 21:20Speaker 1: belief about what Detroit is. And Detroit has been, you know,
- 21:24Speaker 1: it's been on the come up ever since they built
- 21:26Speaker 1: Fort Field in like 2003, 2002 or whatever. And we
- 21:33Speaker 1: had the Super Bowl there. So they had to make
- 21:35Speaker 1: it night.
- 21:36Speaker 2: And then when.
- 21:37Speaker 1: We had the draft here a few years ago, That
- 21:40Speaker 1: was an even bigger thing because it's so many people
- 21:43Speaker 1: just outside. And I think they broke the record this
- 21:47Speaker 1: year for the draft, like attendees. But we broke it
- 21:51Speaker 1: when it was here.
- 21:52Speaker 2: That's funny, it's Green Bay too. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Because that's one of them places where it's like, football
- 21:57Speaker 1: is life. So it's a big-ass thing. But most people
- 22:00Speaker 1: don't know that. But I feel the same way because
- 22:03Speaker 1: before I started doing comedy and I started traveling all
- 22:06Speaker 1: over Michigan and doing comedy in all types of rooms,
- 22:08Speaker 1: When I see people in camo, I just think that's
- 22:11Speaker 1: the new Klan.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Hood, bro.
- 22:13Speaker 1: It was the same psychologically. It's just like that's how
- 22:16Speaker 1: you think of a thing where you don't know about it.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Right? And people still have that perception of Detroit unless
- 22:22Speaker 1: you come. But now you come around. It's people on
- 22:25Speaker 1: pedal pubs and shit. It's tiny white girls fucking walking
- 22:29Speaker 1: poodles around and shit. Like you would never... Think of that.
- 22:32Speaker 2: My whole thought process was, you know what's funny is
- 22:35Speaker 2: I was like, yo, Detroit's downtown, I thought it was
- 22:39Speaker 2: going to look like L.A. 's downtown. L.A. 's downtown
- 22:41Speaker 2: is shit. Yeah. Like the Skid Row and the later. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 2: But then you walk over and there's all the sports,
- 22:45Speaker 2: and that's great. But most of it's all shit. Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And I was like, I thought it was going to
- 22:48Speaker 2: be like that. And then I came and I was like, hey,
- 22:50Speaker 2: it's hella nice. It's hella clean. I was like, and
- 22:52Speaker 2: on top of that, too, it's got a lot of
- 22:54Speaker 2: good character. Yeah. The buildings are dope.
- 22:56Speaker 1: And our homeless people are like, they're like, they're not
- 22:59Speaker 1: out there.
- 23:00Speaker 2: They're not in your face. Yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 1: They're like, it's still like a little like, look, I'm home,
- 23:05Speaker 1: but I'm, you know, they're doing something. They got a
- 23:07Speaker 1: hustle or something like that. It's not just a scam.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It's a, I'm for real, but it's like a Detroit
- 23:12Speaker 1: grinded out. It's like, look, man, yeah, I'm homeless. I'm
- 23:15Speaker 1: in a hard spot right now. But I ain't going
- 23:17Speaker 1: to make it your problem. You know what I mean?
- 23:19Speaker 2: Don't make me ask. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, you know
- 23:21Speaker 2: what it is.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I ain't going to beg you. I ain't going to
- 23:23Speaker 1: fucking chase you down for a couple dollars.
- 23:25Speaker 2: You see me.
- 23:26Speaker 1: If you're going to help, you can help.
- 23:27Speaker 2: You know the situation. Yeah. It's so funny because that's
- 23:30Speaker 2: exactly what I'm saying. Yeah, bro.
- 23:32Speaker 1: But it's a weird, like I said, that's why. That's
- 23:36Speaker 1: the good thing about the internet because I hate the internet.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Like, if it was, if it wasn't.
- 23:43Speaker 1: For comedy, I would not be on social media.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Same here.
- 23:47Speaker 1: But you got to promote. That's how you meet people.
- 23:50Speaker 1: That's how you network. You have to have it. But
- 23:54Speaker 1: the good thing about it is you can get insight
- 23:56Speaker 1: into places, especially if it's people that are doing it
- 24:00Speaker 1: and they don't have an agenda. There are people where
- 24:02Speaker 1: it's like you can tell somebody. It's very easy to...
- 24:07Speaker 1: to frame something. If you want to show the shitty
- 24:12Speaker 1: parts of Detroit, you could easily... They do it on
- 24:14Speaker 1: the news every night. Another person got shot. It's like, well,
- 24:17Speaker 1: that motherfucker robbed me, so he had to get shot.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It ain't just... Most of the stuff that happens around Detroit,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's okay, but it's understandable. It's like,
- 24:29Speaker 1: these people had a... Something happened. It's not a whole
- 24:34Speaker 1: lot of just.
- 24:36Speaker 1: People running up and, like, strong-arming you and jacking you.
- 24:39Speaker 1: It's usually, like, they had beef for whatever reason. Yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 1: there's history over there. Yeah, it's not, at least in
- 24:45Speaker 1: my life. Now, I don't be in the streets like that.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I do, but I'm just saying from what I know
- 24:51Speaker 1: of people who are in the streets and stuff, it
- 24:53Speaker 1: usually ain't nobody like, yeah, we gonna go here.
- 24:55Speaker 2: On some random shit.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a good place to rob tourists. Like,
- 24:58Speaker 1: there ain't no shit like that.
- 24:59Speaker 2: That's what it's like now in San Francisco, which is
- 25:01Speaker 2: crazy because it's like California, like, you're more unsafe there
- 25:04Speaker 2: than it was here, because I'm like, oh man, it's
- 25:05Speaker 2: heckin' nice. you get your shit broken into. Yeah. You get,
- 25:09Speaker 2: you know, you better watch your back, keep your head
- 25:11Speaker 2: on a swivel. When you're out in the shopping center,
- 25:13Speaker 2: I mean, oh boy, that was on the Niners, got
- 25:15Speaker 2: shot in Union Square, which is a shopping area. And
- 25:19Speaker 2: he was a wide receiver, he was a rookie. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 2: That's a trip, man. It's like, that's what it's like
- 25:26Speaker 2: over there. So it's like, when I came over here,
- 25:27Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, it doesn't feel like that
- 25:28Speaker 2: at all. Nah. I mean, but you definitely, I mean,
- 25:30Speaker 2: if someone that knows street smarts or street, it's like, oh, okay. This,
- 25:34Speaker 2: I always say, too, like in Vegas, because I'm in Vegas, right?
- 25:37Speaker 2: And I'm like, it's bad, but it's not like hood. Like,
- 25:39Speaker 2: ain't nobody trying to kill you. Just a lot of
- 25:41Speaker 2: people walking around looking like they're eating sunflower seeds, but
- 25:44Speaker 2: they're not.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been to Vegas a couple times, so I
- 25:49Speaker 1: know exactly what you mean. Yeah, and again, like growing
- 25:53Speaker 1: up in Detroit, when it was a little hard, because
- 25:56Speaker 1: it's like Little Caesars Arena, I went to school right
- 25:59Speaker 1: over here, like right behind Little Caesars Arena. Cash Tech
- 26:02Speaker 1: is right there. And Little Caesars Arena, it used to
- 26:05Speaker 1: be a big abandoned building. I used to catch the
- 26:07Speaker 1: Woodward bus home, and I saw a lady one time
- 26:10Speaker 1: just walking down the street, and she just fucking stopped
- 26:13Speaker 1: and just pissed on the street at like 3 p.m.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Literally right where the front door for Little Caesars Arena is.
- 26:18Speaker 1: And that's what I used to say. I was like,
- 26:19Speaker 1: I think she's entitled to part of this. This is
- 26:21Speaker 1: her property, bro. Y'all built on her land. But it's
- 26:26Speaker 1: just crazy. Because I remember there's condos right across the street.
- 26:30Speaker 1: So I was in school when they built them, and
- 26:31Speaker 1: they were like $ 150, 000. Those condos are like $ 800, 000, $ 900, 000 now.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And that was 20 years ago. Because I remember thinking,
- 26:39Speaker 1: who the fuck would buy a house right here with
- 26:42Speaker 1: this across the street? And now, look what's across the street.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Is Little Caesars, is it from here?
- 26:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I see World Headquarters. Is it
- 26:51Speaker 1: founded here? Little Caesars, I think, is founded here. But
- 26:55Speaker 1: I think it's, is it Illich? Because it's the guy
- 26:59Speaker 1: that he owns... He owns the Tigers and maybe the
- 27:07Speaker 1: Red Wings. So the Red Wings and the Pistons share
- 27:10Speaker 1: Little Caesars Arena, but the owner owns the baseball team
- 27:14Speaker 1: and the hockey team. I think that's how it is.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I'm not big on the owners, and I don't really
- 27:18Speaker 1: watch baseball. But, yeah, I thought he was in– I
- 27:22Speaker 1: don't know why I'm thinking Ohio too, but I know
- 27:25Speaker 1: Little Caesars is from– Detroit, and there's like six pizza
- 27:30Speaker 1: places from Detroit.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, like Jets.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I looked us up because I was like, damn, that's
- 27:35Speaker 1: why we so fucking fat. We got all these different
- 27:38Speaker 1: types of pizza found in here. Just straight bread and salt.
- 27:46Speaker 2: They're about to start the other thing. I wanted to
- 27:48Speaker 2: get you on the trivia. Are you good at trivia?
- 27:51Speaker 2: Depends on the type. Sports trivia, yeah. Let's see if
- 27:54Speaker 2: I can get you a sports centric. Okay. Because we have, like,
- 27:59Speaker 2: I do, like, weeks. Then let's see. Let's see. Hold on.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I should be way more prepared than this.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Why is it doing that? Okay. I'll just edit all
- 28:09Speaker 2: this shit out in a minute. All right. So, boom.
- 28:13Speaker 2: I'll kill everybody. It keeps moving every time. My phone's dirty.
- 28:21Speaker 2: That's what it's supposed to be. Okay. So, boom. Watch.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Look what I'm doing. This is crazy. Every time I... Okay,
- 28:30Speaker 2: so if I go that, if I start going up,
- 28:34Speaker 2: it doesn't let me do that. Then it moves that way.
- 28:37Speaker 2: For some reason, I have no idea why. Fuck it.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I'll do it this way. So sorry. I apologize. I
- 28:42Speaker 2: should be way more professional than this. Here we go.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Let's get you a more sports-centric one. Because it's got
- 28:50Speaker 2: random stuff that's all over the place. I mean, we
- 28:52Speaker 2: could do whatever.
- 28:53Speaker 1: We'll see what happens.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Okay. Then we'll go... We'll go with week 12. Okay,
- 29:00Speaker 2: let's go week 12. Okay. Wait, no, no, no. Let's
- 29:04Speaker 2: do week 13. Here we go. So, okay, first question
- 29:09Speaker 2: is what travels faster, light or sound? Light. Boom. Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Good shit. What year did MTV launch? Oh, God. 1978. 1978. Close, 81. Okay, burn. Okay,
- 29:29Speaker 2: what movie is this quote from? You Had Me at Hello.
- 29:35Speaker 2: A white-ass movie. I'm thinking....
- 29:42Speaker 1: Not Mel Gibson. It's this older guy.
- 29:46Speaker 2: I'll give you a clue. You want a clue? Yeah.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Tom Cruise.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Oh, is it.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Show Me the Money?
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay, yeah.
- 29:57Speaker 1: I can't think of the name of it.
- 29:58Speaker 2: That's so funny. He's like, all I know is Omar.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I know that line from that movie.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I was going to say Omar Gooding, but it's Cuba. Yeah,
- 30:08Speaker 2: Jerry Maguire. Jerry Maguire. Okay.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I was thinking Mr. Maguire, and I'm like, no, that's
- 30:12Speaker 1: not it.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Okay, here's another one. Here's a movie centric. Actress Nicholas Cage. Actress.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Actor Nicholas Cage. He's the nephew of what famous director? Oh, shit.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I'm going to say Spielberg, but I know that's not right.
- 30:37Speaker 2: It's Francis Ford Coppola. Okay. Yeah, yeah. It's crazy. Yeah,
- 30:41Speaker 2: I didn't know that. All right, question five. How many
- 30:44Speaker 2: ghosts are in The Christmas Carol?
- 30:46Speaker 1: Three, right?
- 30:48Speaker 2: It's four. Four. Everyone always says that because of the past, present, future.
- 30:53Speaker 2: But his boy came and seen him and told him, hey,
- 30:56Speaker 2: you're going to be visited by four ghosts tonight. Trick question.
- 31:01Speaker 2: But he's like, oh, what's his name? Ickapod Crane. Crane?
- 31:08Speaker 2: You know what's funny? My only reference to Christmas Carol
- 31:13Speaker 2: is the Disney one. So every time I think about it,
- 31:16Speaker 2: it's like Goofy plays that character and Scrooge is the... Weapon? No, no, no.
- 31:23Speaker 2: What's happening? Okay. What did you call it? It says,
- 31:30Speaker 2: what TV launched Bruce Willis' career? TV show. Bruce Willis.
- 31:41Speaker 1: I know this isn't right, but I'm going to say
- 31:43Speaker 1: ER because I'm thinking of the other guy.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Uh... I know that's not right, though. No, it's Moonlighting.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's before my time.
- 31:58Speaker 2: And then it goes, what popular 90s TV series actor,
- 32:02Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I'm messing this all up. Here we go.
- 32:05Speaker 2: What popular 90s TV series did actor Calista Flockhart star in?
- 32:10Speaker 1: Man, listen.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Dude, we got a black category.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I don't need.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Calista.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I've heard the name, but it's like. I try to
- 32:18Speaker 1: tell people, like, I'm regular black, man. I only know main, like,
- 32:21Speaker 1: super main.
- 32:22Speaker 2: All right. Okay. Wait, wait.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Calista Flockhart, though.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Which one? Buffy? No, no, not Buffy. No, no, no.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Not Buffy.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Beverly Hills 90210.
- 32:32Speaker 2: No, no.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Ally McBeal. Okay, yeah, I ain't watched that. I was
- 32:38Speaker 1: too young for that one. I remember it being on
- 32:42Speaker 1: now that you say it, but I never watched it.
- 32:44Speaker 2: All right, let's... That's a little funny. Okay, how about this?
- 32:52Speaker 2: We'll go black. Okay. What is.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Who was the original Candyman? Who played the original Candyman?
- 33:00Speaker 1: I don't know his name. I just saw this on TikTok.
- 33:04Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I'm bad with actors' names. So I remember the old
- 33:08Speaker 1: one because it scared the shit out of me. But
- 33:12Speaker 1: I don't know his name.
- 33:13Speaker 2: He'd always be whispering and shit? Yeah, yeah. Oh, man.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Did you see the new one? No. No, I didn't
- 33:19Speaker 2: see it. I think it's Todd. Tony Todd? Okay. Yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 2: Tony Todd.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Because that's the same guy that's in the Final Destination movies. Yeah,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but I didn't know his name. I know exactly who
- 33:34Speaker 1: he is, but I don't know his name.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Okay, how about this? What was Wesley Snipes' character's name
- 33:42Speaker 2: in New Jack City? I don't know.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I don't know. I should have stuck with the white stuff.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Because then at least I would have had an excuse.
- 33:56Speaker 1: I made it.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Because, again, I'm bad.
- 34:00Speaker 1: So I haven't watched New Jack City in a long time.
- 34:03Speaker 1: So I can't think of the name.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Or even what their gang name was. CMB, Cash Money Brothers.
- 34:10Speaker 2: But it's Nino Brown.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Oh, my God. That's going to hurt. Don't post this.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Cut that out.
- 34:16Speaker 1: I should have known that.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I'm trying to think. Okay, how about this? Charles... Charles S. Dutton. Okay.
- 34:28Speaker 2: He was in Menace Society, remember? He's the dad. Okay, okay.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Of Sharique. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And he was in what
- 34:37Speaker 2: TV show on Fox? He had his own TV show.
- 34:42Speaker 2: It was long running.
- 34:44Speaker 1: A long running TV show. Okay. I don't know why
- 34:55Speaker 1: I'm thinking. Is it a cop show?
- 34:59Speaker 2: Wait, on Fox?
- 35:00Speaker 1: Was that Fox or HBO?
- 35:01Speaker 2: He was a cop, though. Was he a cop?
- 35:03Speaker 1: No, because I'm thinking of something very specific. But it's
- 35:06Speaker 1: not NYPD Blue. What was the other movie?
- 35:08Speaker 2: No, that's not him.
- 35:10Speaker 1: That's somebody else. Charles S.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Dutton.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Ah, fuck. Because I know when you say the name,
- 35:15Speaker 1: I'm going to know it. You said in the 90s?
- 35:17Speaker 2: Yes, in the 90s, yeah.
- 35:19Speaker 1: 90s TV show.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Shit. Got to cut all this out, too. What? What
- 35:25Speaker 2: the fuck is the name of that show? He played
- 35:28Speaker 2: the cop. Yeah, I don't know. Rock. Remember Rock? Oh, wait, no.
- 35:33Speaker 1: He wasn't the dad. He was the one that shot
- 35:37Speaker 1: the kid.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm thinking the father of the kid, the one
- 35:41Speaker 1: that was in jail.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 1: So that's why I was thinking. If you would have
- 35:44Speaker 1: said the one that, yeah, see, yeah, yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Rock. Yeah, I know Rock. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then
- 35:49Speaker 2: what's another one? Oh, what page is the beauty on
- 35:52Speaker 2: in Jet Magazines?
- 35:56Speaker 1: Jet Beauty of the Week.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Jet Beauty of the Week, yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Ah, this is going, ooh. Ah, fuck. I'm trying to think,
- 36:08Speaker 1: because it's not, because I was just going to say 69,
- 36:11Speaker 1: but the Jet magazine wasn't big enough to have 69 pages.
- 36:15Speaker 1: So I'm thinking like 21 or 28 for some reason.
- 36:20Speaker 2: It's 43. 43? Yeah, yeah. Why 43? I have no idea,
- 36:23Speaker 2: but it was always on page 43.
- 36:25Speaker 1: That's very specific. I guess I never looked at the number.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I was just like, you just open right to it.
- 36:31Speaker 2: You always go, I always went to page 43. I
- 36:33Speaker 2: was like, let me see what's going on over here. Yeah.
- 36:37Speaker 2: That's why. I'm trying to think of another one. Because
- 36:42Speaker 2: I don't want to be movie-centric anymore, because I was
- 36:45Speaker 2: moving to TV, then to Jet Magazine, and I'm trying
- 36:47Speaker 2: to think what else to... Sports. Let's do sports.
- 36:50Speaker 1: If you think any sports trivia.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Okay, sports trivia. Here we go. Let me see. Name. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, wait.
- 37:00Speaker 2: That's kind of sports. It's sports-centric, though. I was going
- 37:03Speaker 2: to say, what was Allen Iverson's first shoe? What was
- 37:07Speaker 2: the name of the shoe?
- 37:08Speaker 1: Oh.
- 37:11Speaker 2: It was a dope-ass shoe, too. It had like this.
- 37:13Speaker 2: It wasn't patent leather, but it was like a suede.
- 37:17Speaker 2: It was dope. It was also like a shiny thing.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Was it called The Answer?
- 37:23Speaker 2: That was the second shoe. Oh, okay. The first shoe
- 37:24Speaker 2: was called The Question. Oh, all right. Okay. All right.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Makes sense.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know the answer.
- 37:31Speaker 2: I was going to say, I'm trying to think, too, especially, like,
- 37:35Speaker 2: who's your team?
- 37:36Speaker 1: Oh, Detroit stuff. I mean, when I lived in San Diego.
- 37:40Speaker 1: I rocked with them because the Padres went to the
- 37:44Speaker 1: World Series and the Chargers went to the Super Bowl, but.
- 37:47Speaker 2: They both got their ass beat, bro.
- 37:49Speaker 1: The Padres got swept and the Chargers lost like 45
- 37:51Speaker 1: to 13.
- 37:52Speaker 2: To the Niners, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fuck the Niners.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Yeah, they got beat down. But it was just in
- 37:58Speaker 1: that window when I lived there, they both had got hot.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Tony Gwynn was everywhere. Who do we have? Natron Means.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Was the running back for the Chargers. I remember all
- 38:09Speaker 1: of that.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:10Speaker 1: But, yeah, always, you know, Pistons, Lions, Michigan mostly.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Oh, I got another one. It's entertainment. Okay. So what
- 38:20Speaker 2: is in the R & B group? Oh, okay. SWV,
- 38:25Speaker 2: what does it stand for?
- 38:25Speaker 1: Oh, Sisters With Voices. I know that one.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Come on, yeah, post that. Post that clip.
- 38:29Speaker 1: We're going to end on a good clip.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Tell them where they can see you at.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Brown Ryan Comedy on everything. But I run a show
- 38:39Speaker 1: called Scumbaggery that.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I did here.
- 38:43Speaker 1: So it's like a regular comedy showcase show, but then
- 38:46Speaker 1: it's like a panel. So everybody in the show joins
- 38:49Speaker 1: the panel. And then we take turns reading anonymous scumbag
- 38:54Speaker 1: confessions from the crowd.
- 38:56Speaker 2: It's hilarious.
- 38:57Speaker 1: I got clips up online already from past shows. We
- 39:00Speaker 1: did one here, and then I'm supposed to do another
- 39:02Speaker 1: one here in October. Dude, I'd love to come and
- 39:03Speaker 1: hang out.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 39:04Speaker 1: It's a good-ass time. The next one is the end
- 39:06Speaker 1: of June. So I got the next two that are scheduled.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I got one at the end of June, and I
- 39:10Speaker 1: got one early July at Imagine Theater in Royal Oak. So, yeah,
- 39:16Speaker 1: I do it monthly because I work at a different club,
- 39:19Speaker 1: so we do stuff over there. But yeah, Brown Ryan Comedy,
- 39:21Speaker 1: I got a special on, I got an album or
- 39:24Speaker 1: whatever on iTunes and all of that. It's called Live
- 39:28Speaker 1: from Almost Detroit because I shouted it out. it in
- 39:30Speaker 1: Royal Oak. It's just Detroit ends at eight mile, and
- 39:35Speaker 1: so where we shot it was 11 mile or whatever.
- 39:38Speaker 1: It was three miles from my house though, three miles
- 39:41Speaker 1: from the house I grew up in. But yeah, Brown
- 39:42Speaker 1: Ryan Comedy on everything. Just follow me. I post all
- 39:45Speaker 1: my shows, all my clips.
- 39:47Speaker 2: All of that stuff is up there.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Check out the album.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Right on.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Come to Scumbaggery. Right on.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Thanks for coming out, man.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks for having me, man. I had a good-ass time.
